Two things mainly: blood pressure monitoring, and for patients who need frequent blood draws. Any
patient on more than a small amount of any vasoactive drip really needs to have an a line for proper
BP management if they re sick enough to be put in the unit and need pressors, then they re sick
enough for an a line. Non invasive automatic blood pressure cuffs are useful, but if a person is labile
push for an a line.
Certain situations absolutely require an a line for BP monitoring: any use of any dose of nipride, for
example. This is a truly powerful drug it works very quickly, and your patient can rapidly get into all
sorts of trouble unless you re monitoring BP continuously.
I ve heard lately that there s a trend towards using fewer a lines it seems silly (and painful) to have
your patient get stuck what seems like twelve times in a shift for labs and ABGs. Remember that it s
always been our unit s policy for nurses to send ABGs after every vent change, or for any clinical
change that the patient makes.
Update this has changed a little: ABGs probably don t seem to be necessary for vent changes that are
only going to affect oxygenation: changes in FiO2 or PEEP, since the O2 sat will keep you

The Pros And Cons Of American Exceptionalism
Whenever a country or a nation becomes a superpower, it starts describing itself as a unique or a truly
exceptional country. The Ancient Greeks believed they were exceptional, the French believed they
were too, and so did the British. Things haven since changed, in the 21st century, American
Exceptionalism has gained traction. The idea of America being a uniquely free nation founded on
democratic ideals. American exceptionalism believes the U.S is better than all of the previous
exceptional countries, it believes the U.S behaves better than all of the previous exceptional countries
and that the United States is responsible for most of the good in the world. These ideas are fleshed out
with common quotes describing America such as shinning city on the hill or leader of the free world
(Walt). These ideas of exceptionalisms and patriotisms result in the United States feeling it has the
responsibility and authorization to introduce liberal democracy all around the world through any
means necessary. In this rush of patriotism, the U.S. ignores to analyze whether it should push
countries towards democracies through extreme measures or is it better for both the country being
pushed to democracy and the United States for the U.S itself to take a more offhand approach. The ...

Chief complaint: hair loss that started several months ago. History of Present Illness This 45 year old
female presents with: 1. Hair loss The patient presents with hair loss that began 5 months ago. The
problem is mild to moderate and has worsened. The initial location of hair loss was the diffuse scalp
and temporal region that occurred gradually. Symptoms are associated with very low carbohydrate
dieting and new medication within 3 6 months (Aleve). Symptoms are not associated with hair
pulling, increased psychological stress, fever, recent illness, recent surgery or scalp rash. Relevant
history positive for family history of hair thinning on both sides. Relevant history negative for anemia,

Extremities: No edema is present. Psychiatric: Oriented to time, place, person, and situation. Has
appropriate mood and affect. Assessment: Telogen effluvium (704.02) Hair loss is classified into 3
classifications, cicatricial alopecia (inflammatory), nonscarring alopecia and inherited and acquired
structural hair disorders. In evaluating hair loss it is important to assess duration and rate, location and
pattern, extent of loss, associated symptoms, hair care practices, and differentiation of hair shedding
from breakage. Medical and family history, diet, and medications need to be assessed (Shapiro,
Otberg, Hordinsky, 2013). Telogen effluvium is diffuse hair loss that is reversible caused by a
significant stressor such as significant weight loss, pregnancy, major illness or surgery (Goldstein
Goldstein, 2012). As the patient has lost 50 pound in 10 months, this is the most likely cause of her
diffuse hair loss. She will stop her very low carbohydrate diet for a more moderate, varied diet. If the
hair loss continues she will need further evaluation. Differential diagnosis 1. Endocrine related hair
loss: Hair loss may be caused by several endocrine disorders, presentation is typically with non
scarring alopecia that is diffuse (Olszewska, Warszawik, Rakowska, Slowinska, Rudnicka, 2011).
Hypopituitarism, not assessed, needs serum cortisol (Synder, 2012), will order if symptoms continue.

Why Is Self Discipline Is Important, But Do We Really Need...
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to
success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to
get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less
weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your
future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious
food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money
than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.
Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future.
You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will
never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. Self discipline
will enable you to get required efforts and continuity. If you need to lose weight, you need self
discipline among other skills to eat

Immigration Historiography
Immigration has been a central theme in the development of the United States. The influx of
foreigners into the country has been met with acceptance and restrictive policy since its formation.
The reaction to diverse immigration created exclusionary policies first introduced in the late
nineteenth century and held in place by national origins quotas until 1965. The purpose of this
historiography is to show how recent scholarship on immigration has developed and changed in the
last fifteen years. This historiography is divided into three types of studies. The first is focused on how
historians have extricated the individual from the broad historiography to give voice to specific ethnic
groups as they negotiated for a place in the country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first type of study regards specific groups targeted by restrictive immigration policy. Various
ethnic groups exhibited agency as they combated discrimination. The works of Mae M. Ngai, Estelle
T. Lau, and John S.W. Park are used to support this initial position. Although these works focus on
policy formation they also show immigrant responses to racially specific federal policy. Resistance
and adaptability are themes that connect these works as immigrants negotiated a place for themselves
in the United States. The second grouping of studies will develop imposition theory to interpret social
and political responses to immigration over time. Policy imposed upon a targeted group is at the core
of this theory as the state mandated stringent requirements for entrance into the country and placed
rigorous standards on resident aliens once here. John Higham, Desmond King, and Martha Gardner
assess this plight. These works elaborated on imposition theory, as immigrants became Americans and
struggled against acculturation and preservation of their culture. The last grouping of studies evaluates
the development of a broad immigration policy. Keith Fitzgerald, Cheryl Shanks, and Roger Daniels
studies span over a century of immigration policy. Evaluating these broad interpretations on
immigration

school when his test scores are examined by a board of directors and deemed worthy of their attention.

his mother and him; all present are in agreement that he should he transfer and attend, which he does.
While there, a literature professor by the name of Robert Crawford notices dissimilarities between the

Taking a Look at Joe Flacco
A professional sport is a sport in which the players get paid to play and gets drafted from either
college or high school. A professional sport is that player s job and they are the best of the best, like
Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens Quarterback (NFL)). Joe Flacco was born Joseph Vincent Joe Flacco in
Audubon, New Jersey on January 16, 1985. He was born to Karen and Steve Flacco and is of Irish and
Italian descent. He played football, baseball and basketball at Audubon High School and was the
starting quarterback. Flacco was listed as No. 39 among quarterback prospects in the class of 2003.
Flacco s college career started in Pittsburgh where he was redshirted for a team that went 8 5. In 2004,
he became the backup quarterback that limited his playing time behind starter Tyler Palko. He only
played in three games against Ohio, Nebraska, and South Florida. He finished the season with one
completion for 11 yards. At Delaware Flacco saw his first full time action in the 2006 season. He
threw for 2,783 yards, and 18 touchdowns with 10 interceptions and Delaware struggled to a 5 6
record. They missed the FCS Playoffs. In the 2007 season he led his team to an 8 3 regular season
record and had 4,263 yards, 23 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Flacco set 20 school records during
his career at Delaware. In early September 2009, a 20 by 30 foot poster of Flacco was added to the

By 1944 World War II had lasted nearly four and a half years. The entire war now depended on the
success or failure of an invasion of France. The first three years of the war had almost entirely been a
chain of Nazi victories. They had succeeded in crushing Poland and forcing France to surrender. Hitler
s attempts at capturing England were halted by the RAF,
Royal Air Force. After the devastating Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hitler declared war on the
United States and forced Italy to follow.
By November of 1942 Hitler began to pay for his string of mistakes. In Egypt his favorite

Many of the British commanders in attendance had served in the first World War and were weary of
sending mass amounts of troops into a battle where the enemy may be laying and waiting for them.
The plan was complicated, precise and heavily relied on the element of surprise. Timing and
coordination were of great importance, a failure at one of the hundred points could send the whole
balanced plan in to chaos. The first assault wave would have eight division, close to
80,000 men. Three of the eight divisions, 1 of Britain and two of the United States, would be airborne
paratroopers and glider troops that would be dropped at night. The other five divisions would be
Infantry divisions and would land on five beaches at the crack of dawn. After the
Atlantic Wall had been broken by the first assault and a stable beachhead was obtained, more than
thirty nine divisions would rapidly pour in.
Capturing a strong hold of a beachhead was crucial to the success of the invasion. The beachhead
would need to be able to hold back the inevitable counterattack of strong German forces. A port would
have to be seized to be able to supply necessary supplies for land invasion.
A strategic drop was to be made at the Contentin Peninsula of Normandy because its North was
Cherbourg a major harbor. Unless this mission was successful, supplies would have to be shipped
through open invasion beaches subject to

The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships
The Need for Waste to energy on Ships
Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that
into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put
them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental
Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of waste
and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of
the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their
waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into
landfills.
There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work:
1) The use of generators would create job opportunities;
2) The generators are environmentally safe;
3) There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and
4) The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters.
The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a small
generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for providing electricity,
transportation, and industrial needs.
Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The facilities provide
financial and environment benefits to the communities

The Chrysanthemums Analysis
The element Romanticism is presented in the story through the setting first, The high gray flannel fog
of winter closed off the Salinas Valley from the sky and from all the rest of the world (page 1). This
sets the tone for some type of sad and cold emotion. Which those emotions comes to play when her
strength, happiness, and confidence is crushed after being boosted by the man who had taken a
different route and stumbled upon Elisa doing her gardening, they conversed about the
chrysanthemums, gardening, pots, and flirting for a generous amount of time. It was crushed because
she found the chrysanthemums she had gave him on the side of the rode with the pot not being with it.

In his work, Spiegelman is using animals mask to show the difference between the nationalities. Mice
for Hebrew, cats for Germans and pigs for Polish. I think that the author is using animals heads for his
characters because in this way the Germans can make much easier the difference between Hebrew and
Polish. If characters would only wear clothes with Nazi symbols or Star of David I think it would be
much harder to differentiate people. According to Spiegelman, Vladek didn t know how the swastika

The Winnipeg general strike was the largest strike in Canadian history; it officially began May 15th
1919, during the strike solders returned after World War 1 leaving immigrants and woman with poor
jobs and terrible working conditions with low wedges. Workers were put in jail, some were deported
and thousands lost their jobs and at least seven strike leaders were convicted of a conspiracy to
overthrow the government and were jailed for up to 2 years. This event has shaped Canadian identity
by the ability to have unions and strikes, higher wages and optional hours. The Winnipeg general

Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock And Christopher Nolan
When it comes to movies, many directors are good at their jobs. However, other directors are great in
the art of film making. There is no doubt such statement is considered utterly subjective, but what
would life be without subjectivity, for it is our differences that make us thrive against a monotonic
existence. By the same token, Alfred Hitchcock and Christopher Nolan utilize their singularities to
create films that for decades have impacted the movie making universe. In fact, it is their differences
that provide us with a high contrast to compare and scrutinize their job and find what made them great
at it. In his trajectory, Hitchcock was called by many the father of suspense. Usually, his films would
contain a deep level of psychological thrill that would captivate his audience. Similarly, Nolan was
perhaps influenced by Hitchcock and integrated the same degree of suspense and psychological thrill
to his films. Nonetheless, the question becomes why would they choose this route, and the answer we
find in psychology. There are people with adrenaline seeking behavior, which means such individuals
enjoy the adrenalin released through fear experiences. Nevertheless, real life dangerous situations
could lead to death; as a result, people found a way to experience, to some extent, a similar level of
fear without jeopardizing their lives. Possibly, both Hitchcock and Nolan had at least a basic
understanding of how the human psyche works and incorporated the suspense

The initiating event in the novel The Droughtlanders that got the entire story rolling is when Eli
follows his mother and sees her talking to a Droughtlander, the very same people he was taught to hate
and despise because of the sickness that they carry. When he sees his mother kiss the Droughtlander
he is mortified that that his mother would go anywhere near the people that are considered worse than

footsteps to bring the keys down.
7) I can imagine myself re reading this book again in 10 years because this book is amazing and it is

the student everything needed to write successfully. This means that they will write better and turn in
better work for that. This all leads to get better grades in that subject. Secondly, this class is an easy

The Best Years Of Our Lives Analysis
After World War II ended, people expected life to return back to normal immediately, but this was not
the case. Veterans came home to their sweethearts and many could not ease into the previous lives
without thinking about war. Jobs and homes were not easy to come by, which is why the film The Best
Years of Our Lives does a fantastic job of recreating the American society. The movie was filmed in
1946, thus making it realistic. The Best Years of Our Lives reflects the post war era because the
American society was ready to move forward with their lives, but ex servicemen were having
difficulty transitioning back into their past lives. This film follows three men named Al Stevenson,
Fred Derry and Homer Parrish as they return to Boone City and back to the arms of their eager family.
Like many veterans after the war, many were anxious and could not reconnect with their family and
loved ones immediately due to the high intensity events they experienced back in Europe or in the
Pacific. For example, Homer served on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific that sunk, which burned off his
arms and left him with metal prosthetics; this made him feeling uncomfortable around his ... Show

him feel vulnerable, but his fiancee proved to him that love is more than what can be seen. I really
enjoyed the movie because everyone had their own personal battles, but with everyone s support and
advice, everyone moved forward. Homer eventually married Wilma and Fred and Peggy ended up

Executive Summary:
Objective:
The objective of our senior project is to develop portable lab equipment and software interface for first
year college students. The idea of our project is to allow portability and convenience for students to
perform basic electronic labs at home. It is meant as a learning tool to generate a comprehensive,
hands on guide for students to use on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Future Expansion:
This project could also include a multimeter and curve tracer. It could also be improved by having a
higher voltage and a better regulated power supply. The function generator could also have higher
bandwidth and frequency.
Cost:
Estimated total cost is $316. Introduction:
When we visualized our senior project, we decided that engineering and electronic students in college
could make use of portable, inexpensive, simple equipment in order to demonstrate concepts off
campus. This equipment would not necessarily have all of the functionality and versatility of the lab
equipment, but it would be useful in demonstrating concepts. The current lab equipment is great for
school, but if students have a need to use the equipment at home such as to finish labs, learn more, or
just hobby use, they are left without an inexpensive alternative with the equipment currently on the
market. Our solution was to address these issues with our project which we named Lab In A Box. This
would allow students to have a portable oscilloscope, power supply, and function generator at a
greatly reduced cost. The labs performed usually only requires low bandwidth and low voltage
equipment. The power supplies in the labs are DC with the capability of +6V and ±25V. The function
generator is a 15MHz waveform generator that is capable of sine, square, triangle, and saw tooth
waveforms. The

What Is Lack Of Environmental Regulations
Introduction
According to Xinhua news agency, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Beijing, Tianjin and
surrounding areas carried out a supervision of atmospheric pollution caused by industrial enterprises.
As of May 7th, 28 inspection teams inspected 8447 units, of which 5594 were found to have
environmental problems, accounting for about 66.2% of the total number of checks. The few major
problems found during this inspection is small scale industries that don t follow any environmental
regulations, lack of pollution control facilities in the industries and pollution control facilities not
operating on standard.
1. Causes of industrial pollution and violation of environmental laws
Lack of policies and governmental regulations
Many industries wriggle out of environmental responsibility and manage to bypass laws regulated by
the Ministry of Environmental Protection and national pollution control board as a direct result of
inefficient policies and poor enforcement. Previously in some cases the fines of breaking the
environmental laws were so low it was cheaper to violate environmental limits than install pollution
reducing equipment. Moreover, the public education and awareness of environmental pollution and its
effect is insufficient. In modern times, hundreds of factories are being built that don t use the treatment
plants and recycling methods. When an entrepreneur establishes a new industry, their only concern is
the product and profit which makes it almost

Blood As An Image In Macbeth Essay
Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood in MacBeth to represent treason, guilt, murder and death. These
ideas are constant throughout the book. There are many examples of blood representing these three
ideas in the book.
Blood is mentioned throughout the play and mainly in reference to murder or treason. The first
reference to blood is in MacBeth s soliloquy in Act 2, Scene 1, Lines 33 61, when Macbeth sees the
bloody dagger floating in the air before him. Also in this soliloquy on line 46 he sees quot;on thy
blade and dudgeon gouts of blood quot;, this means that there is blood on the handle and spots of
blood on the handle. This is implying that the dagger was viciously and maliciously used on someone.
Shakespeare most likely put this in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, blood is being used to describe treason, murder and death.
Act 5, Scene 1 is the famous sleepwalking scene. While Lady MacBeth is sleepwalking she makes
many references to the evil deeds that Macbeth and herself have committed, most of which include
references to blood. In Act 5, Scene 1, Line 31, She goes through the motions of washing her hands
saying quot;Out damned spot! Out, I say quot; in reference to the blood that stained her hands after
smearing it all over the servants after assisting MacBeth in the treasonous murder of MacBeth. This
also represents her guilt of the murder. In Act 5, Scene 1, Line 38 she makes another reference to the
guilt saying, quot; What, will these hands ne er be clean? quot; The last reference she makes to the
blood being on her hands representing her guilt is in Act 5, Scene 1, Lines 44 45, quot; Here s the smell
of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this hand. quot; All these references are
to murder, death, treason, and guilt.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare effectively conveys theme of death, murder, treason, and guilt
through the symbol of blood. Normally, the word blood makes us think about injury and being an
essential part of life. The symbol of blood was

Disappearance Of The Roanoke Colony
The Roanoke Colony was a colony that seemed to disappear in 1950. There are many theories about
what happened to the colony, but the theory that they colonized into other settlements around them is
the most probable. The disappearance of the colony is why it earned the name the lost colony In 1584
on March 25th, Queen Elizabeth told Sir Walter Raleigh to start a colony in North america. Raleigh
started his expedition with Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe to start and explore the eastern coast of
North America on April 27, 1584. They ended up arriving on July 4th and created relations with the
locals, the Secotans and Croatans. They then returned to England, however, Raleigh was not done. He
organized a second expedition that was led by Sir Richard Grenville. Grenville departed on April 9,
1585 with 5 main ships. They were all to meet up in Puerto Rico. Then in 1587 Raleigh had 100 or so
colonists to start the Roanoke colony but eventually the ran out of supplies. Raleigh and John Watts
went on an expedition and agreed to stop back to Roanoke after raiding the Spanish and Caribbean.
When they came back the settlement had vanished.(History.com Staff) This was very significant
because over 100 people just vanished without leaving any info about where they actually went. ...

departure of the colony was not rushed. (Prentzas 55) The Roanokes were also told that if anything

The Laramie Project Summary
The play The Laramie project by Moises Kaufman addresses the brutal murder of openly gay teenager
Matthew Shepard in a small town of Laramie, Wyoming in 1998. The chronological structure of the
play draws together interviews conducted after the event by Kaufman and fellow members of the
Tectonic Theatre Project. Additionally, Kaufman uses these journal entries to retell and reconstruct
what happened on the night of Matthew s assault, addressing the issue of gay hate crime. The play
itself was structured into three acts. The first act consists of several interviews from townspeople,
however builds intensity towards the end. The last scene brings the actors together to show how the

I had worked hard to develop my skills and incorporate theatre techniques. For example, during
rehearsals, I struggled with realism within my acting. However, this immensely improved due to
rehearsal and other practitioners. In adding realism within my performance, my characters became
believable and authentic which the audience could then identify. During this production I also
improved my ability to multi role, which is extremely difficult to achieve. When establishing character
s, I ensured there was a strong difference between each of their traits. In adapting my realism and
multi rolling abilities the audience could see a strong change of character. There are certain elements
of my performance, which I would have liked to improve on such as costume change. During a scene I
had to undertake a quick costume change which I was not prepared for. This was challenging,
although I could have improved if I had more time to rehearse my costume changes. I would have
liked to add more movement within my scenes, this would have given my characters more in depth
personality traits. Finally, to improve my performance I could have rehearsed my lines on a regular
basis. In doing this would have released stress and I would have been more confident throughout the

Dreams In Sandra Cisneros s The House On Mango Street
During the novel, The House on Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros relives a childhood similar to
hers, where the main purpose of life is having the ability to dream. Most characters that live on Mango
Street, such as Esperanza Cordero, dream of having a better life and deserting their past of poverty and
struggle. Cisneros constantly makes this apparent to the reader because without struggle and pain, the
reward of escaping the neighborhood is not as meaningful. Throughout the novel, The House on
Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros develops the subject of dreaming through Esperanza s relationships
female family members, the symbol of writing, and the motif of houses. To begin, Cisneros develops
Esperanza s relationship with her mother and her friend, Alicia, in order to promote the fact that
leaving a community like Mango Street is possible. These minor characters do not play a huge role in
Esperanza s life, yet they unknowingly show her that it was, and still is possible to get out. Alicia is
significant to Esperanza because she proves that it is possible to make it to college. When Esperanza
hears that Alicia studies for the first time at the university (Cisneros 31), she sets this in her mind as an
example of what she is capable of. Her mom also tells her that she could ve been somebody (90).
Esperanza s mother was talented in many categories, such as singing opera, speaking many languages,
and working around the house. However, she dropped out of school at a young age

Ban The Use Of Guns By Civilians
Pierce Hodges Mrs. Desanto Research paper Feb 9, 2015 A Call to Ban the use of Guns by Civilians
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired,
signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are
not clothed. (citation) Guns are a major source of crisis in our nation today, and as President
Eisenhower speaks to in this quote, firearms take something away from society. We are supposed to be
a peaceful and civilized nation, but because of guns, we are becoming a violent nation and a disaster.
Many think that those who are negatively affected by guns are only inner city teens and young adults.
This was proven to be untrue by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that same situation, with no gun around, there is a much less chance of someone being severely
injured or killed. Many people suggest securing schools more by doing things like locking all doors,
bullet proof vestibules, mandatory ID and background checks, and even microchips monitoring people
s whereabouts in the school. All of these things may help, but the problem is much bigger than the
schools. The problem is in the access to guns that our laws allow. The use of guns by civilians should
be banned because, the statistics show that the more guns, the more chance for violence. The military
and law enforcement should be the only ones legally allowed to carry guns. When our forefathers
drafted the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment protecting the individual right to possess
firearms, the society and the motive was different. it was a limited right and they left some authority
over it to the government. The government is able to limit this, so seeing how guns are negatively
affecting our society, they should use their power. There is no reason why so many people, living in
what is supposed to be a peaceful society, possess guns. About 16,272 murders were committed in the
United States during 2014. Of these, about 10,886, or 67%, were committed with firearms. A
nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 0.5% of

Social And Economic Problems Faced By Michigan
Along with challenges and battles, Michigan has made it a long ways in a very diverse range of areas.
History is what brings us to where we are today. Throughout time, I believe that every leader,
politician, and good citizen strived to crate a better place to live. If this is true than the strides that
Michigan has made to become the best it can be are due to the love and devotion that michiganders
have to their sate and their country. Just because people try to do good and do their best to promote a
safe, equal, and problem free society, does not mean that it is possible. In this essay I plan to explore

In 1936 the orphanage was turned into a home for children with mental disabilities. A reimbursement
act (in which you are partially reimbursed) was placed in 1949 for the school districts who held
classes for the children with mental disabilities. Half of a decade later, a law was passed in which
allowed counties to collect tax money in order to implement programs designed for children with
handicaps. This groundswell of grassroots advocacy led to the more recent history of special education
in America, which commenced with Congressional approval of the Education for All Handicapped
Children Act (Public Law 94 142) on November 29, 1975. This law was intended to support states and
localities in protecting the rights of, meeting the individual needs of, and improving the results for

Maggie A Girl Of The Streets Chapter Summary
In the Novel Maggie: A Girl of the Streets was a very dramatic story that contain lots of anger, abuse,
emotional, and naïve scenes. This story took place in New York in the bad side of town where most of
the kids spent their days in the streets or known to them as the rum ally. This story showed a lot of
reality of everyday life of people living in poverty. It shows a great example of people s decisions
affecting their life s. As seen in the story Maggie the main character her decisions impacted her life. I
believe that if things would have different Maggie could have had a fair shot in life. Since the
beginning of the book it starts off with her brother fighting in the streets, her father drunk wondering
through the streets as well as she was in the street with her brother. When Maggie sees her brother, all
beat up she tries to talk to him but makes him upset. Jimmie threatens her that he was going to hit her
if she did not shut up and as Maggie continued to talk he smacked her. Their father witnessed it and
just told him to stop and leave her in the street. if the father acted different towards her brother beating
Maggie things would have been different. As a father, how can he just say leave your sister alone in
the street. it showed that he did not care about his kids. When they got home and their parents got in
an argument leaving the baby there to witness everything happen it showed how they were abusive
towards each other it taught their kids to learn and make them

Hamlet Appearance Vs Reality Research Paper
Appearance Vs Reality
Anonymity is something that makes mankind feel quite powerful, and in some cases it is to benefit us
in certain situations. Shakespeare s Hamlet is known as one of the greatest plays of all time and,
Appearance vs. reality is a major theme that is consistent throughout this play. In the play Hamlet
there are characters who are behaving and acting a certain way, while in reality their objective and
intentions are the direct opposite. Some of these characters do not realize this until the end of the play.
Most of these characters appear to be candid and sincere throughout the play, while in reality they

Magical Realism In The Virgin Suicide

Shostak acknowledges Eugenides writing as a call for change within the modern era. Shostak details
the Lisbon Girls and their suicides as a great metaphor: representing what is wrong with the country ,
being the novel s ultimate scapegoat [...] predicting the forthcoming decadence , or suicide to reflect
the natural deaths due to industrialization (207). Shostak sees many reasons for Eugenides writing
about the tragic death of young girls. Primarily, Eugenides is depicting the younger generation as
morally corrupted. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with a greater purpose than to sadden his
audience with horrible stories. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with the purpose to educate his
reader: to send morally equipped readers to face a corrupted world armed with opinions and an
understanding of tragedy. The Virgin Suicides raises awareness of teen suicide. Eugenides begins
many conversations with his works, particularly this dark love story, with underlying notions to our
disappointing world.

Aesop’s Fables
Aesop s Fables Introduction: I already know a good amount about the Aesop s fables before doing any
real research. Almost everyone as a child was introduced to the stories such as the boy who cried wolf
or the tortoise and the hare . As a child many adults would read these stories to me because they have
a very strong moral. It can guide children to do the right thing when they are in doubts. I have a very
personal experience with the tortoise and the hare because since I am a tennis player, my coaches
would always mention these stories in regarding to practice and how we should be playing. This
actually taught me a lot and made me the player I am today. I know that all fables are made up so that

These are both stories that have animals as characters and convey a moral for the characters action.
For example, the tortoise and the hare is the story of a hare that was way too cocky and thought he
could run really fast then take a nap and run fast again while the tortoise was a humble animal and just
went at a slow pace to the finish line. The tortoise ended up winning because while the hare was
sleeping, he was going at his slow pace but did not stop until he finished. This is a typical type of fable
because it is short and sweet, has animals as characters, and shows a moral that comes out of the
characters actions. Many fables have good and bad animal characters to convey the good things that
come from good actions, and the bad things from bad actions. The majority of the fables you will read
will have characters that show what happens to the good animal and what happens to the bad one.
Stories like, the tortoise and the hare, the bat and the birds, the dog and the wolf, and the fox and the
goat are just a few to name. In all of them however we see the good that comes from being someone
good and the bad for the bad character. This is what conveys the moral and shows the reader how you
want to be. These animals help show the moral because as animals we feel for them and it shows us
what happens when you re good or bad. And it is also easier for kids to relate to animals rather than
anything else because they get attached to them and since fables

Branagh And Hamlet Comparison Essay
Mel Gibson vs. Kenneth Branagh: Hamlet Edition
Hamlet, a story of revenge, madness, uncertainty and death. The fourth act of Shakespeare s play
embarks on the falling action, leaving readers eager to known how the story may conclude. Many film
adaptions of the famous play have been created by director s eager to create their own take on this
tragedy, but the two film versions of act 4 that will be analyzed in this essay are the 1990s Franco
Zeffirelli version starring, Mel Gibson and the 1996 Kenneth Branagh version. Both films are
unarguably well produced productions and both are able to achieve their own unique perceptions of
the play. However, Kenneth Branagh version contributes an abundance of uniqueness that sets his

become repetitive and shows no uniqueness. Branagh experiments with several different shot angles,
from the reflection shots in the mirrors, which suggest that there are eavesdroppers throughout the
castle, and shots where the camera circle around the actors as they are in the midst of intense
conversation helps to build up the intensity and importance of the scene. These are two pf Branagh

Fungus Essay
Fungus
The Latin word for mushroom is fungus (plural, fungi). The word fungus has come to stand for a
whole group of simple plants that contain no chlorophyll and lack such complex plant structures as
roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Included among the fungi, along with mushrooms, are molds,
mildews, rusts, smuts, truffles, and yeasts. Toadstool is another name for mushroom. Some people use
the name toadstool only when referring to poisonous mushrooms, but botanists make no such
distinction. A general scientific term for fungi is mycota, from the Greek word for mushroom, mykes,
and the study of these organisms is called mycology.
Because they lack chlorophyll, fungi are unable to manufacture food out of the raw materials around

Only a small portion of those that live on land is normally visible. Most of the fungus, a complex
network of hyphae, grows underground, near the surface. The visible parts of fungi vary greatly in
size. Some are so tiny that they cannot be seen without the aid of magnification. Others are quite large.
Some mushrooms reach diameters of 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimeters) and heights of 10 to 12
inches (25 to 30 centimeters). Bracket fungi that are 15 inches (38 centimeters) in diameter are fairly
common; and mushrooms called puffballs have been known to grow to 60 inches (152 centimeters) in
diameter.
Although fungi are distributed worldwide, the distribution of a specific species is limited by
temperature and moisture conditions of an area coupled with the available food supply. The best
temperature for most fungi to thrive is from 68° to 86°F (20° to 30°C). Some types of fungi, however,
do perfectly well at tem peratures as high as 120°F (48°C), while a fairly large number of them do
well at freezing temperatures, 32°F (0°C) or below.
The reproduction of fungi can be either sexual or asexual. Sexual reproduction, as with other
organisms, involves the fusion of two nuclei when two sex cells unite. This joining produces spores
that can grow into new organisms. Asexual reproduction is by fragmentation, cell division, or
budding. The simplest process is direct fragmentation, or breaking up, of the fungus body, the thallus.

Prince Hamlet Research Paper
There have been rumors about the behavior of Prince Hamlet roaming around the city and it is my
duty to provide the backstory that will help people understand this important issue. So let s get started,
come along. Earlier today, I was able to catch up with Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, and she gave us
some evidence of why the Prince has been acting this way. He s been acting weird and unusual as of
late due to his father recently passing away. As well as his disapproval of his uncle, Claudius,
marrying me in such a hurry. said Gertrude. As she was stating this issue of her son, tears poured
down from her eyes and distraught to furthermore talk about it any longer. It can be inferred that she

rather than their homes. Restaurants in Brampton are the busiest restaurants because in the business
world where everyone at home are working people sometimes do not have enough time to prepare
their food. The people of Brampton are very busy in their regular job so they don t even have time to
cook food at home. Brampton restaurants are the place where they bring new things to the table. Since

In-School Business Analysis
What is the true definition of education? Is it the process of learning or does that term just address the
schools setting? Is education what a person learns throughout his or her lifetime or is it just what they
learn in the twelve to sixteen years they attend school? These are all questions being asked by not only
myself but the entire nation. We have seen much change to the educational atmosphere throughout its
long existence, but we who are living thorough it now, must decide whether these changes are having
a positive or negative effect. Throughout the educational history change is one word that has stayed
constant; however the most recent and most particular change amongst the educational arena is its
move towards the business world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best and most local example of this is within the Pittsburgh City School District. Mark Roosevelt,
superintendent of the school district, and the school board sought outside of their teachers and district
itself to Kaplan K12 Learning Services. The Pittsburgh school district paid Kaplan $8.4 million to
write standardized curricula for grades six through 12. Kaplan has created these to be geared and
based on the standardized testing, which is required with the passing of NCLB. Not only have districts
been structured around these curriculums, but teachers have too. In a somewhat recent Post Gazette
article it said, Teachers have complained that Kaplan s detailed curriculum turned them into
automatons and deprived them of time to cover material in adequate detail or help students with
individual needs. Not only have these outside companies built and structured the schools, but have
also made teachers and students machine like. Neither the teacher nor the students have the ability and
freedom to think or teach outside the box of these standardized driven curriculums. The company K
12 Eduventures figures this year that public schools will spend $24.9 billion on services and supplies
from private providers, which leads to businesses making more money and school districts

Gospel Presentation
December 13, 2015
Background Information The person whom I intend to share the Gospel with is my friend Drew
Harmatz. We have been friends now for over three years and over that time grown to be really good
friends. Even though we are good friends we do not share the same beliefs. Drew is Jewish and has
chosen to stick with his birth religion because he likes the Jewish moral compass. Basically, he has
expressed that he feels the Jewish culture is more peaceful and presents a better moral basis than that
of any other religion. While we have talk of God, Christ, and the Bible; I have never tried to relay the
Gospel to him.
Elements of Communication There are a couple key points I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
I say this because Drew mentioned that Jewish culture is one that is morally strong and better than that
of most other religions. Well, to communicate to him the beliefs of a Christian and the structure which
we hold ourselves to would have a great impact of our conversation. David Livermore states; Cultural
intelligence doesn t mean abandoning our convictions, values, and assumptions. Instead, we re seeking
to understand and respect the beliefs and priorities of others and express our own values and beliefs in
ways that are appropriate, respectful, and effective. In the end, relating to Drew that our moral
compasses are similar is my way of breaking down the barrier to present the Gospel in which he
would feel comfortable and listen.
Cultural Value Orientations A cultural value that is important and must be taken to account is Direct
vs. Indirect. I say this because how you communicate with some will greatly affect how much they
retain of listen to. In this matter, Drew has expressed that he feels Christians are aggressive and
history has shown their moral compass lacks right vs wrong and good and bad. Knowing this I would
want to work around being direct and indirect when communicating with him. I would never want to
be to direct and push him away nor would I want to be so indirect that it seems as if I m walking on
egg shells. In the end, how I communicate to him will greatly impact if he listens or shuts me out.

Jay Book Research Paper
Jay received the inbound pass in the last two minutes of the game.As time was ticking on the
clock,Jay pushed the ball down the court, looking to score, but instead decided to kick the ball out to
his open teammate Jordan Plaster, which led to a buzzer beating shot to send the boys to the playoffs.
Jay Book was one of the , or if not the most popular kid in school. Everyone wanted to be Jay Book.
He was also the star point guard of the basketball team at Berea High School. He was a ladies man for
sure, sometimes teachers would catch him skipping class just to be with a girl. The bulldogs have their
first playoff game this friday, and everybody is going to be there. There are two girls who will be there,
i m pretty sure it s because they are coming to see Jay. That s the only reason anybody comes to any of
the games. The two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bulldogs must win this game in order to advance to the second round. Everyone is depending on
Jay Book to get it done, and to bring home the state championship. Katie and Aislyn are clearly staring
Jay down. I think he has noticed by now that he may have two love females that kind of have the
googly eyes for him. I m pretty sure at the end of the game he will say something to them, because I
have never heard or saw, with my own eyes,Jay not talk to a girl. Especially if he thinks they re cute.
The third quarter ends and the score is still a close one. Berea has 73 and Walhall has 69. As the
bulldogs get into their huddle Katie and Jay make eye contact. Katie felt like it was love at first
sight, but I m not so sure Jay was thinking the same thing. As they get out of the huddle Jay tells Katie
to hml which means (Hit My Line). That made Katie blush so much. Jay reminds himself that he
needs to stay focused on the game. He can t lose the game and let not only his teammates down, but
also everybody in the whole town down. Then everyone would call him Choke Book. The fourth
quarter is soon to

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4 What are a lines used for? Two things mainly: blood pressure monitoring, and for patients who need frequent blood draws. Any patient on more than a small amount of any vasoactive drip really needs to have an a line for proper BP management if they re sick enough to be put in the unit and need pressors, then they re sick enough for an a line. Non invasive automatic blood pressure cuffs are useful, but if a person is labile push for an a line. Certain situations absolutely require an a line for BP monitoring: any use of any dose of nipride, for example. This is a truly powerful drug it works very quickly, and your patient can rapidly get into all sorts of trouble unless you re monitoring BP continuously. I ve heard lately that there s a trend towards using fewer a lines it seems silly (and painful) to have your patient get stuck what seems like twelve times in a shift for labs and ABGs. Remember that it s always been our unit s policy for nurses to send ABGs after every vent change, or for any clinical change that the patient makes. Update this has changed a little: ABGs probably don t seem to be necessary for vent changes that are only going to affect oxygenation: changes in FiO2 or PEEP, since the O2 sat will keep you ... The Ancient Greeks believed they were exceptional, the French believed they were too, and so did the British. Things haven since changed, in the 21st century, American Exceptionalism has gained traction. The idea of America being a uniquely free nation founded on democratic ideals. American exceptionalism believes the U.S is better than all of the previous exceptional countries, it believes the U.S behaves better than all of the previous exceptional countries and that the United States is responsible for most of the good in the world. These ideas are fleshed out with common quotes describing America such as shinning city on the hill or leader of the free world (Walt). These ideas of exceptionalisms and patriotisms result in the United States feeling it has the responsibility and authorization to introduce liberal democracy all around the world through any means necessary. Assessment: Telogen effluvium (704.02) Hair loss is classified into 3 classifications, cicatricial alopecia (inflammatory), nonscarring alopecia and inherited and acquired structural hair disorders. In evaluating hair loss it is important to assess duration and rate, location and pattern, extent of loss, associated symptoms, hair care practices, and differentiation of hair shedding from breakage. Medical and family history, diet, and medications need to be assessed (Shapiro, Otberg, Hordinsky, 2013). Telogen effluvium is diffuse hair loss that is reversible caused by a significant stressor such as significant weight loss, pregnancy, major illness or surgery (Goldstein Goldstein, 2012). • 5. Why Is Self Discipline Is Important, But Do We Really Need... We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it? We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to success, so why do we need self discipline? We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals? The general answer is: Lack of self discipline. Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future. Present steps determine future results. Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future. You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. Self discipline will enable you to get required efforts and continuity. If you need to lose weight, you need self discipline among other skills to eat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Immigration Historiography Immigration has been a central theme in the development of the United States. The influx of foreigners into the country has been met with acceptance and restrictive policy since its formation. The reaction to diverse immigration created exclusionary policies first introduced in the late nineteenth century and held in place by national origins quotas until 1965. The purpose of this historiography is to show how recent scholarship on immigration has developed and changed in the last fifteen years. This historiography is divided into three types of studies. The first is focused on how historians have extricated the individual from the broad historiography to give voice to specific ethnic groups as they negotiated for a place in the country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first type of study regards specific groups targeted by restrictive immigration policy. Various ethnic groups exhibited agency as they combated discrimination. The works of Mae M. Ngai, Estelle T. Lau, and John S.W. Park are used to support this initial position. Although these works focus on policy formation they also show immigrant responses to racially specific federal policy. Resistance and adaptability are themes that connect these works as immigrants negotiated a place for themselves in the United States. The second grouping of studies will develop imposition theory to interpret social and political responses to immigration over time. Policy imposed upon a targeted group is at the core of this theory as the state mandated stringent requirements for entrance into the country and placed rigorous standards on resident aliens once here. John Higham, Desmond King, and Martha Gardner assess this plight. These works elaborated on imposition theory, as immigrants became Americans and struggled against acculturation and preservation of their culture. The last grouping of studies evaluates the development of a broad immigration policy. Keith Fitzgerald, Cheryl Shanks, and Roger Daniels studies span over a century of immigration policy. Many of the British commanders in attendance had served in the first World War and were weary of sending mass amounts of troops into a battle where the enemy may be laying and waiting for them. The plan was complicated, precise and heavily relied on the element of surprise. Timing and coordination were of great importance, a failure at one of the hundred points could send the whole balanced plan in to chaos. The first assault wave would have eight division, close to 80,000 men. Three of the eight divisions, 1 of Britain and two of the United States, would be airborne paratroopers and glider troops that would be dropped at night. The other five divisions would be Infantry divisions and would land on five beaches at the crack of dawn. After the Atlantic Wall had been broken by the first assault and a stable beachhead was obtained, more than thirty nine divisions would rapidly pour in. Capturing a strong hold of a beachhead was crucial to the success of the invasion. The beachhead would need to be able to hold back the inevitable counterattack of strong German forces. A port would have to be seized to be able to supply necessary supplies for land invasion. • 10. The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships The Need for Waste to energy on Ships Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of waste and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into landfills. There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work: 1) The use of generators would create job opportunities; 2) The generators are environmentally safe; 3) There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and 4) The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters. The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a small generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for providing electricity, transportation, and industrial needs. Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The facilities provide financial and environment benefits to the communities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock And Christopher Nolan When it comes to movies, many directors are good at their jobs. However, other directors are great in the art of film making. There is no doubt such statement is considered utterly subjective, but what would life be without subjectivity, for it is our differences that make us thrive against a monotonic existence. By the same token, Alfred Hitchcock and Christopher Nolan utilize their singularities to create films that for decades have impacted the movie making universe. In fact, it is their differences that provide us with a high contrast to compare and scrutinize their job and find what made them great at it. In his trajectory, Hitchcock was called by many the father of suspense. Usually, his films would contain a deep level of psychological thrill that would captivate his audience. Similarly, Nolan was perhaps influenced by Hitchcock and integrated the same degree of suspense and psychological thrill to his films. Nonetheless, the question becomes why would they choose this route, and the answer we find in psychology. There are people with adrenaline seeking behavior, which means such individuals enjoy the adrenalin released through fear experiences. Nevertheless, real life dangerous situations could lead to death; as a result, people found a way to experience, to some extent, a similar level of fear without jeopardizing their lives. Possibly, both Hitchcock and Nolan had at least a basic understanding of how the human psyche works and incorporated the suspense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction: When we visualized our senior project, we decided that engineering and electronic students in college could make use of portable, inexpensive, simple equipment in order to demonstrate concepts off campus. This equipment would not necessarily have all of the functionality and versatility of the lab equipment, but it would be useful in demonstrating concepts. The current lab equipment is great for school, but if students have a need to use the equipment at home such as to finish labs, learn more, or just hobby use, they are left without an inexpensive alternative with the equipment currently on the market. Our solution was to address these issues with our project which we named Lab In A Box. This would allow students to have a portable oscilloscope, power supply, and function generator at a greatly reduced cost. The labs performed usually only requires low bandwidth and low voltage equipment. The power supplies in the labs are DC with the capability of +6V and ±25V. The function generator is a 15MHz waveform generator that is capable of sine, square, triangle, and saw tooth waveforms. The

What Is Lack Of Environmental Regulations Introduction According to Xinhua news agency, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Beijing, Tianjin and surrounding areas carried out a supervision of atmospheric pollution caused by industrial enterprises. As of May 7th, 28 inspection teams inspected 8447 units, of which 5594 were found to have environmental problems, accounting for about 66.2% of the total number of checks. The few major problems found during this inspection is small scale industries that don t follow any environmental regulations, lack of pollution control facilities in the industries and pollution control facilities not operating on standard. 1. Causes of industrial pollution and violation of environmental laws Lack of policies and governmental regulations Many industries wriggle out of environmental responsibility and manage to bypass laws regulated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and national pollution control board as a direct result of inefficient policies and poor enforcement. Previously in some cases the fines of breaking the environmental laws were so low it was cheaper to violate environmental limits than install pollution reducing equipment. Moreover, the public education and awareness of environmental pollution and its effect is insufficient. There are many examples of blood representing these three ideas in the book. Blood is mentioned throughout the play and mainly in reference to murder or treason. The first reference to blood is in MacBeth s soliloquy in Act 2, Scene 1, Lines 33 61, when Macbeth sees the bloody dagger floating in the air before him. Also in this soliloquy on line 46 he sees quot;on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood quot;, this means that there is blood on the handle and spots of blood on the handle. Dreams In Sandra Cisneros s The House On Mango Street During the novel, The House on Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros relives a childhood similar to hers, where the main purpose of life is having the ability to dream. Most characters that live on Mango Street, such as Esperanza Cordero, dream of having a better life and deserting their past of poverty and struggle. Many people suggest securing schools more by doing things like locking all doors, bullet proof vestibules, mandatory ID and background checks, and even microchips monitoring people s whereabouts in the school. All of these things may help, but the problem is much bigger than the schools. The problem is in the access to guns that our laws allow. The use of guns by civilians should be banned because, the statistics show that the more guns, the more chance for violence. The military and law enforcement should be the only ones legally allowed to carry guns. When our forefathers drafted the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment protecting the individual right to possess firearms, the society and the motive was different. it was a limited right and they left some authority over it to the government. The government is able to limit this, so seeing how guns are negatively affecting our society, they should use their power. For example, the tortoise and the hare is the story of a hare that was way too cocky and thought he could run really fast then take a nap and run fast again while the tortoise was a humble animal and just went at a slow pace to the finish line. The tortoise ended up winning because while the hare was sleeping, he was going at his slow pace but did not stop until he finished. This is a typical type of fable because it is short and sweet, has animals as characters, and shows a moral that comes out of the characters actions. Many fables have good and bad animal characters to convey the good things that come from good actions, and the bad things from bad actions. The majority of the fables you will read will have characters that show what happens to the good animal and what happens to the bad one. Zephirelli and Branagh take two completely different routes when it comes to cinematography, which makes all the difference while watching and comparing the two films. Zephirelli used a lot of wide shots, making use of his atmosphere, the intension probably to make the audience get a true atmospheric feel for the setting, he also mixes this in with many close up shots. After a while his shots become repetitive and shows no uniqueness. Branagh experiments with several different shot angles, from the reflection shots in the mirrors, which suggest that there are eavesdroppers throughout the castle, and shots where the camera circle around the actors as they are in the midst of intense conversation helps to build up the intensity and importance of the scene. • 45. Fungus Essay Fungus The Latin word for mushroom is fungus (plural, fungi). The word fungus has come to stand for a whole group of simple plants that contain no chlorophyll and lack such complex plant structures as roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Included among the fungi, along with mushrooms, are molds, mildews, rusts, smuts, truffles, and yeasts. Toadstool is another name for mushroom. Some people use the name toadstool only when referring to poisonous mushrooms, but botanists make no such distinction. A general scientific term for fungi is mycota, from the Greek word for mushroom, mykes, and the study of these organisms is called mycology. Because they lack chlorophyll, fungi are unable to manufacture food out of the raw materials around them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only a small portion of those that live on land is normally visible. Most of the fungus, a complex network of hyphae, grows underground, near the surface. The visible parts of fungi vary greatly in size. Some are so tiny that they cannot be seen without the aid of magnification. Others are quite large. Some mushrooms reach diameters of 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimeters) and heights of 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 centimeters). Bracket fungi that are 15 inches (38 centimeters) in diameter are fairly common; and mushrooms called puffballs have been known to grow to 60 inches (152 centimeters) in diameter. Although fungi are distributed worldwide, the distribution of a specific species is limited by temperature and moisture conditions of an area coupled with the available food supply. The best temperature for most fungi to thrive is from 68° to 86°F (20° to 30°C). Some types of fungi, however, do perfectly well at tem peratures as high as 120°F (48°C), while a fairly large number of them do well at freezing temperatures, 32°F (0°C) or below. The reproduction of fungi can be either sexual or asexual. Sexual reproduction, as with other organisms, involves the fusion of two nuclei when two sex cells unite. This joining produces spores that can grow into new organisms. Asexual reproduction is by fragmentation, cell division, or budding. The simplest process is direct fragmentation, or breaking up, of the fungus body, the thallus. Each of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. In-School Business Analysis What is the true definition of education? Is it the process of learning or does that term just address the schools setting? Is education what a person learns throughout his or her lifetime or is it just what they learn in the twelve to sixteen years they attend school? These are all questions being asked by not only myself but the entire nation. We have seen much change to the educational atmosphere throughout its long existence, but we who are living thorough it now, must decide whether these changes are having a positive or negative effect. Throughout the educational history change is one word that has stayed constant; however the most recent and most particular change amongst the educational arena is its move towards the business world. ... Mark Roosevelt, superintendent of the school district, and the school board sought outside of their teachers and district itself to Kaplan K12 Learning Services. The Pittsburgh school district paid Kaplan $8.4 million to write standardized curricula for grades six through 12. Kaplan has created these to be geared and based on the standardized testing, which is required with the passing of NCLB. Not only have districts been structured around these curriculums, but teachers have too. In a somewhat recent Post Gazette article it said, Teachers have complained that Kaplan s detailed curriculum turned them into automatons and deprived them of time to cover material in adequate detail or help students with individual needs. Not only have these outside companies built and structured the schools, but have also made teachers and students machine like. Neither the teacher nor the students have the ability and freedom to think or teach outside the box of these standardized driven curriculums. The company K 12 Eduventures figures this year that public schools will spend $24.9 billion on services and supplies from private providers, which leads to businesses making more money and school districts ... • 51. Gospel Presentation Essay Oliver Metzler GLST 220 D02 Gospel Presentation December 13, 2015 Background Information The person whom I intend to share the Gospel with is my friend Drew Harmatz. We have been friends now for over three years and over that time grown to be really good friends. Even though we are good friends we do not share the same beliefs. Drew is Jewish and has chosen to stick with his birth religion because he likes the Jewish moral compass. Basically, he has expressed that he feels the Jewish culture is more peaceful and presents a better moral basis than that of any other religion. While we have talk of God, Christ, and the Bible; I have never tried to relay the Gospel to him. Elements of Communication There are a couple key points I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I say this because Drew mentioned that Jewish culture is one that is morally strong and better than that of most other religions. Well, to communicate to him the beliefs of a Christian and the structure which we hold ourselves to would have a great impact of our conversation. David Livermore states; Cultural intelligence doesn t mean abandoning our convictions, values, and assumptions. Instead, we re seeking to understand and respect the beliefs and priorities of others and express our own values and beliefs in ways that are appropriate, respectful, and effective. In the end, relating to Drew that our moral compasses are similar is my way of breaking down the barrier to present the Gospel in which he would feel comfortable and listen. Cultural Value Orientations A cultural value that is important and must be taken to account is Direct vs. Indirect. I say this because how you communicate with some will greatly affect how much they retain of listen to. In this matter, Drew has expressed that he feels Christians are aggressive and history has shown their moral compass lacks right vs wrong and good and bad. Knowing this I would want to work around being direct and indirect when communicating with him. I would never want to be to direct and push him away nor would I want to be so indirect that it seems as if I m walking on egg shells. In the end, how I communicate to him will greatly impact if he listens or shuts me out. Presentation When it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
