The Waterfall Approach For Software Development Projects
The waterfall approach to software development projects is a linear model, which focuses on
individual stages of development including, requirement identification, analysis, design, coding,
testing and operations. While this model has been around for decades, there are many drawbacks. This
method heavily focuses on extensive documentation and front loaded requirements gathering; thus
inviting the opportunity for significant and costly failures. As the landscape of information technology
in the business world has evolved, we have seen a major shift from complex back end systems that
didn t include input from stakeholders and only programmers could understand, to computer programs
that are customized to the front end users and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method utilizes smaller cross functional groups of people that work together on complex issues in
a creative self organized team environment. These teams should be comprised of all the right people
needed to complete assignments and can include business analysts, developers, testers and the end
users. Collaboration, teamwork and change are embraced rather than focusing on processes, extensive
documentation and sticking to a precise plan. Incremental phases under agile allow for changes and
product releases are delivered after each iteration. The most common agile method is scrum, in which
a relatively small group of dedicated resources are solely responsible for every aspect of the work and
are self sufficient. Additional popular agile methods include rapid application development, lean
software development, Kanban, extreme programming and scrumban. In the agile manifesto,
developed in 2001, some of the key principles are to deliver frequent improvements that add value, to
welcome change that adds competitive advantage, to continually work together through motivated
individuals and focus on simplicity and maximizing the amount of work not done. Article Analysis In
the article, The Waterfall That Won t Go Away,1 Chatterjee describes how the waterfall method is still
heavily relied upon in businesses and how it will continue to remain an approach to software
development projects. Specifically, Chatterjee, a software developer, was

Gang Related Violence Case Study
Gang related violence is rising in England and Wales moreover gangs are becoming more aggressive
in their attempts to control large parts of cities across the country. Efforts to control their territory are
blamed for the rise in gun and knife related crime which has risen by 14 per cent in recent years. The
Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported a 27 per cent increase in all violent crime in 2016. Young
people are more likely to carry knives and resort to violent behaviour. However, the Conservative
Government cut front line police by 17,000 which has seen fewer police on the streets of cities across
England and Wales (Morris, 2016).
Elias suggested that shaming was an important factor in controlling crime in civilized society

The And The Great Gatsby s The Wolves
By the time the skirmisher line was approaching the bridge our mules and the escort s horses were
rested, watered and had been fed a handful of oats. Furthermore, the Raider s reserves had invested the
farmhouse looking for us, while the main battle line still faced the city defenders. In fact, the enemy s
entire attack had been disrupted and they weren t happy. Without any mounted scouts they were at a
substantial disadvantage, which gave us great personal satisfaction. Indeed, we all had smiles on our
faces. When I left them, the Wolves moved like shadows, well trained teams of three squads, and there
were something predatory about them. Julie and Zetia stood together with the PDA in hand with Count
Vee. By contrast, the lancers stood stiffly on their horses, waiting in a rigid formation on the road in
front of the carriage for my command. We had pulled back our troops to the reverse side of the hill to
make sure no one could spot us. Only Scout and I remained by the river bank watching the advancing
Raiders from behind bushes in an unlikely location some distance from the foot of the bridge. I was
sure the enemy scouts wouldn t give our vantage point much consideration. Vengeful happiness
bubbled up inside me at the thought of removing more of these scum from the world. About a dozen
shirtless men hustled across the long stone bridge with shields raised and swords ready. Their
determined faces scanned the hillside for any movement, expecting an ambush while still on the

Literary Analysis Of The Storm
Kate Chopin implies in the selection, The Storm that the setting and the plot reinforces each character
s action, but only two characters exemplify the title itself, Calixta and Alcee. The storm becomes the
central element of Alcee s unrequited love for Calixta and ultimately the instrument of their forbidden
love to each other. Hurston concurs in the The Storm that a forbidden relationship can become a
cancerous love and silent death sentence. The Storm s theme was based on Love, Immoral affair, and
Freedom. Chopin s technique of foreshadowing, symbolism, irony, tone, and imagery set the plot for
Alcee, Calixta, Bobinot, and Clarisse in this short story. A bolt struck a tall chinaberry tree at the edge
of the field. It filled all visible space with a blinding glare and crash seemed to invade the very boards
they stood upon (425). The writer used Imagery to depict how nature shook the foundation of their
respective marriages. The significance of the tall chinaberry tree that crashed the boards was that it
made Bobinot and Clarisse almost irrelevant in the story. The author used the metaphorical expression
to indicate how the storm schemed Bobinot and Clarisse out of the reckoning. The author employed
the use of symbolism in the description of the storm. Storm, a natural phenomenon that brings about
extreme weather condition that might lead to an undesirable outcome. The Storm in the context of the
selection brought about a positive outcome. The storm in the story is not the physical storm that
occurred outside with heavy downpour, but the coming together of Alcee and Bobinot. A physical
storm forms when the atmosphere is saturated with water and droplets of water pour out from the sky.
The symbolic importance of the storm represents the liberation of Alcee and Calixta, from the
shackles of societal or moral expectation. He pushed her hair back from her face that was warm and
streaming her (425). Although Alcee pushed Calixta s hair back to see her face, the author s
interpretation was not physical. Chopin meant that Alcee was able to set Calixta free from the bondage
of marriage temporarily. Bobinot played a major role in the plot that led to infidelity between Calixta
and Alcee.

Samuel P Huntington The Clash Of Civilizations
There came the competition of global dominance in the modern era, over four hundred years of
Western civilizations interacting, competing, and fighting. The Cold War which lasted over forty years
of the Twentieth Century changed the course of the world and in the end, ushered in a new world
order. In his article The Clash of Civilizations , Samuel P. Huntington captured what the world was
like at the end of the Cold War. The question during the Cold War was What side are you on? became
now Who are you? Huntington illustrates that culture and cultural identities are the primary causes of
conflict in the post Cold war. Nations were attempting to answer the question they face: Who are we?
To do so, they reference things that mean the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2006 led many to believe that it was the start of clash of
civilizations, which Said argued as one not seeing the whole picture. The Egyptian revolution, of
thousands pouring onto Cairo s Tahrir Square demanding the self determination they were denied,
shows that the clash of civilization was a myth. The world is filled with clashes and significant
conflicts, through the perspective of Huntington s thesis, one will understand the main cause will be
rooted in cultural differences. Through the perspective of Said s thesis, one will understand that any
conflicts in the beginning of the twenty first century must be thoroughly understood rather than
viewing it through the lenses of an outdated concept. Since the Peace of Westphalia, the balance of
power amongst civilizations is shifting. Although nation states will still be a dominant player in world
politics but the main friction of global conflicts will take place among civilizations. The international
system began with the Treaty of Westphalia and the conflict between monarchies in the effort to gain
more armies, territory and money. Then the system began to shift towards nation states with the
French Revolution. Instead of conflicts between nations, the aftermath of the Russian revolution led to
the conflicts of ideologies, including communism versus fascism versus liberal democracy. Seen in the
Cold War, the battle of communism versus liberal democracy was between two

Piety In Confucianism
In truth, filial piety, humaneness and reciprocity are three main ideas, which plays very important role
in Confucianism. To begin with, Confucius is a famous philosopher who gave advices to the rulers and
individuals on their behaviors. Worth to mention, Confucius s teachings were complied in the Analects
after his death. Moreover, Filial Piety means respect for one s parents, and most people is familiar
with that idea in Confucianism. From what I learnt in China, filial is the starting point of virtue. In
addition, I think filial piety is necessary in a family, and the children should show the respect to their
parents. Another importance virtue is reciprocity, which means one should reply what another person
has provided. Furthermore, reciprocity

Business Types Of Mr Wong Can Enter Into
There are numerous business types that Mr Wong can enter into. The one that I will recommend will
be a convenience store. He can pursuit this path as follows: 1. Sole Trader which more or less to be
controlled and financed solely by him and the advantage of managing self is that all decisions will be
made by him, setting up is easy and high degree of control. Lastly, he will be his own boss and have
the flexibility of doing things at his own pace, however the consequences of this type of venture is that
once he is no longer around to foresee things the business ceases and in terms of cover for any
eventuality such as illness or holiday it is difficult to fulfil his role with a cover person. 2. Partnership
he can be in partnership with 2 or dozen partners will be controlled and manage by the partners. This
type of venture requires contract and it will govern by Term of the Partnership Act 1890. Each partner
has a shared responsibility and each partner bringing in a speciality. It is easy to set up the burden of
risk is a share among partners. The downside of partnership is that, there is a potential risk of conflict
and partnership dissolved on death of a partner. All partners liable for the debts of the others and
unlimited Liability. 3. Private Limited Company this is usually a small family business owned by 2
and up to 50, shareholders and Directors are elected by shareholders. The advantage of this venture is,
it is difficult for a takeover the business. Also,

Kepler s Laws Of Planetary Motion
Kepler s Laws Johannes Kepler formulated the Three Laws of Planetary Motion. The first is the Law
of Orbits, stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. The second law is
the Law of Areas. This is the idea that a line that connects the planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas
in the plane of the planet s orbit in equal time intervals. Last is the Law of Periods which states that
the square of the period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. It
is simple to just accept the laws and memorize them, but take it a step further. What are the
explanations to these laws and how did Kepler come to those conclusions? The results that Kepler
published actually began with Tycho Brahe. Brahe was interested in reforming astronomy, and wanted
to prove his idea that planets circle the sun which then move around the stationary earth. He made
several observations with advanced instruments that still to this day have been proven by calculations
done with modern computers to be quite accurate. All of Brahe s observations were very useful and
interesting to Kepler who became Brahe s assistant in 1600. Some propose that Brahe only continued
making observations because he was unsure of what to do with them or how to apply them, so it was
left up to assistants such as Johannes Kepler to put the information to use (J.V. Field). Kepler had been
engaging in finding an orbit of Mars, and Brahe s observations

Walter Benjamin and the past disassociating with present
In Walter Benjamin s Berlin Childhood Around 1900, he applies a variety of concepts with respect to
time: past, present, and future. The concepts are highlighted in his vignettes: Victory Column , The
Telephone , and Butterfly Hunt . Benjamin attempts to imbue his writing with a different structure of
time from what was conventional. He perceives history as a section of moments, and each moment is
an integral whole in its own right, making it equal to the present (Knights). Benjamin also notes that
the ignoring of the past and the focus on the progression of the future causes harmful effects to nature
(Knights). The concept of technological progress appears to give grounds for the domination and
abuse of nature (Patke). Subsequently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Benjamin attributes a sense of delight to his image of the Victory Column , there is also a
contrasting affect of death that permeates through the vignette. There is a portico around the Victory
Column, but it is when Benjamin asserts that this portico was itself the inferno a sense of death
becomes apparent. It is evident that Benjamin wants to spotlight the darkness around the column. It
seems that Benjamin is using this past image to illustrate a sense of responsibility for the innocently
suffered of past generations. Benjamin is placing a redemptive quality to the death of the past
individuals. There is a sense of redemption embedded in his past. Benjamin wants it visible that the
Victory is surrounded by death, which is analogous of his present situation. Sigmund Freud agrees
with Benjamin s reluctance on war as he states war Broke out, and it brought disillusion (Freud 172)
and that A future war, because of such great advances in the means of destruction, would mean the
extermination of one or perhaps both adversaries. (Freud 231). If Germany in Benjamin s present is to
obtain a Victory in its oppressive endeavor, it is through mass death, which is proven through the past.
Thus, the Victory Column depicts Benjamin s past delights before his innocence was corrupted by the
future, and an example of how studying the past and its follies can save immense death.
Progression through technological advancement is a process

Greek Culture Vs Callatian Culture
In the article, it talked about how the different cultures around the world have different sets of values,
which may seem wrong to one culture, but completely normal to another. The article gave an example
of the Greeks and Callatians, who have very different cultural values of what to do with the dead. The
Greeks believed in cremating the dead, while the Callatians ate their dead as a sign of respect. To one
culture, the other seemed completely barbaric and disrespectful, and they would never do the other, as
proved by King Darius. This lesson, althougn many years old, still applied to today, even in a place as
diverse as America. There are many locations in America where it is not very culturally diverse. I feel

How Does Jane Austen Create Negative Feelings Towards Mr....
How does Jane Austen create negative feelings towards Mr. Darcy in the first few chapters of Pride
and Prejudice? Jane Austen wrote her book about life for women in the nineteenth century; the
Regency period. For women in this period, life was very unbalanced, women were not perceived as
equals and men were superior and had full authority in every aspect of life. There was a clear
segregation among men and women and the values they were expected to maintain. It is a truth
universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want of a wife .
Men received greater respect; an ascribed dominant identity. Their ideas and needs were considered a
necessity; they were entitled to decide their own destiny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Bingley suggests that Mr. Darcy dances with Elizabeth but once again, Austen ensures Mr. Darcy
responds in a way that adds to the restrained bias that already surrounds his character. She s handsome
but not handsome enough to tempt me . This shows that Mr. Darcy believes he is better than everyone
else. He doesn t believe in enjoying the evening, he thinks he shouldn t dance in a trivial manner; he
must have the best. As the woman who Mr. Darcy says is the only one he would dance with is dancing
already, Mr. Darcy doesn t dance; nobody else is good enough. This shows Mr. Darcy is spoilt and
child like. His feeling of superiority is displayed here; he is obviously used to getting his own way.
When Mr. Bingley defends those present, Mr Darcy tells him he is wasting his time. It is like Mr
Darcy is determined to replace the high quality ideas of himself that others had created, with negative
ones. He doesn t just appear to show a lack of interest, but makes his feelings of the evening, the
company and the entire situation perfectly clear. By the end of the evening when Mrs. Bennet has
returned and is telling Mr. Bennet of her encounter with Mr. Darcy, she confirms what everyone
thought of him and Austen ensures that by this point, the reader has formed the same opinion. But I
can assure you that Lizzy does not lose much by not suiting his fancy; for he is a most disagreeable,
horrid man, not at all worth pleasing. So high

How North Korea became a Cruel Country
How did North Korea become the cruel country that scorches both surrounding and distant nations
with its sternly severe socialist flame? Subjugated by Japan in 1910, North Korea was mercilessly
enslaved for thirty five years. Due to Japan s defeat in World War II in 1945, the United States
occupied the southern region of the Korean Peninsula while Soviet troops seized the north. As a result
communism spread like weeds. Sadly, North Korea s government, military, and economy were all by
shaped by the leftist views suppressed on them. The root of the problem was Kim Il Sung, the first
premier of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea. At the urging of the United States, the United
Nations General Assembly established elections, introduced a constitution, and formed the Republic
of Korea in South Korea. The North Korean government evenly divides the tasks of leadership among
numerous officials as this obligation requires careful attention. In accordance with their constitution,
the head of government is the premier; Choe Yong rim presently occupies this position. Specifically
aiding the premier, three vice premiers and the cabinet, which is comprised of twenty eight ministers,
are next in power. The uppermost lawmaking body, the Supreme People s Assembly, elects the
majority of cabinet members. The minister of the People s Armed Forces is the sole exception. He

German People In The Book Night By Elie Wiesel
The advance of Hitler and his soldiers were daunting. Although, the German citizens had nothing to
fear. They went on with their daily routines and lived life as nothing had happened. They were not
disrupted nearly as much as the unfortunate Jewish population facing mass genocides. The Jews were
wrenched out of their homes, forced into the ghettos, and lost all of their civil rights. They were no
longer treated like citizens or people by the Nazis. As the Jews were decried, the majority of German
citizens did not lend a helping hand. The German townspeople in the novel Night, by Elie Wiesel,
remained satisfied, despite the detention of the Jews because they neglected the appalling actions
against the Jews, were self centered, and power hungry.
When word first spread that the Germans were committing massacres towards the Jews, people
remained calm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deportation of the Jews did not have any strong effects on the Germans. Also, they were not in the
same situation as the Jews. They were not fearing death every second, starved, or running twenty
miles in the horrendous snow. Because it was not them, they did not care. They did not have to fret, as
their lives were not on the line. A famous example is Martin Niemöller s poem, First They Came For
The Socialists . Niemöller talks about how the Germans came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me (Niemöller
7 11). Niemöller did not stand up for any of the minority groups that Hitler prosecuted because he was
not one of them. This demonstrates how the German minds were working through this period. If it was
not about them, then they would not take any action. Even if countless other lives were doomed. The
German s reasoning for not rescuing the Jews was selfish and inconsiderate and lead to the execution

1960s Counterculture Movement
The Time of Rebirth: Counterculture Movements Woodstock, psychedelics, and Rock n Roll were all
a major point in the 1960s counterculture movement. Many icons like Janis Joplin rose to their fame
during this era. The hippie movement, even 60 years later, is a major landmark in history and pieces of
the past can be seen in many different ways. Why are counterculture movements so infamous and
what purpose do they serve? Do counterculture movements establish a certain principle or are they
simply a rebellion against society? I feel as though counterculture movements take place for a reason.
Counterculture movements are more than a rebellion and help bring out the issue that everyone tends
to keep quiet about. Without counterculture movements, societies would be forced to stay within the
limits of what others dictate as right or wrong. The beginning of the 1960s was a time of economic
growth and a time of prosperity ( Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll 00:01:59). Important things came out
of the decade, for example civil rights. The decade itself was a time of movement for not only blacks,
but also for women and those who sought a life outside of social norms. Feminism in the 60s and the
civil rights movement both fed into the historical 1960s counterculture movement. The historical
counterculture movement began to simmer throughout the sixties and slowly came to a head. Things
really started to give way to the movement when teenagers began to think differently than their

A Literary Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan
Literary Analysis of Esperanza Rising To foreshadow events in books or to tell the meaning of a story,
authors often use symbolism. Symbolism uses people, places, or things that have their own meaning,
to express something different. The author of Esperanza Rising, Pam Muñoz Ryan, uses a certain fruit
or vegetable to symbolize events of emotions that occur in the chapter. Three chapters in Esperanza
Rising that represent an important part of the book are Los Higos, Las Cebollas, and Los Aquacates.
In Esperanza Rising, figs, onions, and avocados symbolize a new beginning, the acceptance of starting
anew, and the rewards followed after hardship. Los Higos, or figs, represent a new beginning, because
of Esperanza s journey through the fig orchard. Mama and Esperanza execute their plan, in which they

end of the fig orchard, She could see nothing behind her but a trail of splattered figs she had

Persuasive Speech On Divorce
What s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet. Thanks, Mr.
Shakespeare!
Once you divorce, you have the right to keep your husband s last name, return to your maiden name or
heck, make up a whole new name of your choosing. And in most states, it s relatively easy to make a
change, assuming your attorney included a clause in the divorce decree that gave you the right to
change your name. It s usually standard, but in recent months, we ve heard from several divorcees that
wanted to return to their maiden names but didn t because that little clause wasn t included in the
decree. When checking into the matter, we learned that exclusion of the clause requires you to make a
formal request via an attorney and appear in court. And of course, all that is going to cost more money.

Essay about Periodontal Disease
Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease or gingivitis. This infection is serious
enough, that it can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. This chronic infection starts around the tooth and
it affects the supporting bone and gums. Periodontal disease can affect anywhere from one tooth to all
thirty two teeth. The disease pathology starts with the plaque that builds up on your teeth everyday.
The plaque build up causes the gums to become red and inflamed. If not properly brushed off, the
remaining plaque will also cause the gums to bleed. This stage of periodontal disease is commonly
referred to gingivitis, literately meaning ¡°swelling of the gums.¡± There is no real pain associated ...

It¡¯s estimate that thirty percent of people with periodontal disease were genetically susceptible.
Exposure may also play a role in contracting the disease. People have contracted it from their partners.
Pregnancy plays a role as well because when women are pregnant their bodies are generally more
susceptible. A pregnant woman¡¯s gums are also extremely sensitive. Other common contributing
factors are stress, types of medications a person has taken (oral contraceptives and anti depressants),
diabetes, poor nutrition and bruxism (clenching and grinding your teeth). These factors can be
changed or properly maintained in order to stop contributing to the periodontal disease. It is also
important to note that these factors cannot be blamed for the main cause of this disease.
Other problems can arise because of periodontal disease. The obvious is tooth loss. After awhile all
gum recession and bone damage will cause the teeth to fall out. This leads to more dental problems
and eventually dentures. Bad breath is often caused by periodontal disease. This is often unpleasant
and embarrassing for the person experiencing it. Other problems that periodontal disease contributes
to are heart disease and stroke. Thirty percent of heart attack victims and stroke victims have a type of
periodontal disease. What happens is the same plaque that builds up on your teeth, gets into the blood
stream and clogs the main arteries of the heart and brain. This leads to a heart attack and

American history from 1815 to 1840 Essay
Throughout American history, politics changed with the times, forming and growing as new situations
and environments took place. However, the most drastic differences occurred between 1815 and 1840.
During this time, the North and South develop different economic systems, which created political
differences between the regions. Between 1815 and 1840, the number of eligible voters drastically
increased as politicians utilized a wider variety of campaigning methods in order to appeal to as many
voters as possible, all essentially caused by economic growth. Politics grow to include universal white
male suffrage, a strong national government, and nationalism versus sectionalism. Economic Growth

Political figures began appealing for popular support, using tactics like public rallies, picnics,
slanderous charges, and newspapers to capture attention. Document I is a campaign almanac that
promotes the 1840 candidacy of Harrison and Tyler. During this time period, it was common for
political candidates to use almanacs, tracts, buttons, effigies, and rallies to publicize and romanticize
their records. Political parties themselves began to change as people like Martin Van Buren tried to go
back to old political parties (Document C). He thought that the best political combination would unite
southern planters and plain Republicans of the North. Van Buren was part of a group of shrewd
politicians called the Albany Regency With the help of their newspaper, the Albany Argus, they
controlled party nominating conventions and political patronage (spoils system) while in office. The
Albany Argus is a great example of how newspapers came to be a big part of politics. Seen in Doc G,
the number of different newspapers in the United States increased to 1,200, with the number more
than tripling between 1810 and 1835. Newspapers were widely distributed, and after innovations made

A Summary Of The Statue Of Augustus
In this statue of Augustus, power is the main characteristic being portrayed. In his left hand is a spear,
which Dr. Allen S. Farber of the State University of New York at Oneonta describes as a symbol of
ability in arms and power. This statue also depicts Augustus wearing a cuirass, which was the armor
worn on the torso of the military general. The breastplate is known for its portrayal of a cosmic setting
containing multiple gods, possibly implying that the victory of Augustus over the Parthians held a
cosmic favor, Farber states that this statue has many characteristics that are parallel to that of Greek
works. For example, the Romans incorporated a sense of drapery style common in Greek art to convey
a sense of elegance and power.

Etic And Emic Analysis On Suicide Terrorism
Etic and Emic Analysis on Suicide Terrorism Exploring different cultures as well as your own in order
to understand the various ways they do things compared to our own can be enlightening as well as
challenging. The main challenge comes from being used to your own culture that it is difficult to view
a different culture without any personal bias. Being born and raised in a culture and getting used to
those norms of everyday life contributes to the bias that one may show, believing that their own
culture is superior to another. This type of thought process is called ethnocentrism. But with the use of
an etic and emic approach to analyze your own culture and different cultures will help eliminate
ethnocentrism. Using an outsider s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader eventually figures out that Nacirema culture is indeed the American culture. This article is
very helpful in understanding that just because cultural aspects of America are the norm for you, those
same aspects can seem eccentric to people of a different culture. Suicide terrorism is one of those acts
of violence that is almost impossible to defend against. In his article, Atran (2003) explains suicide
terrorism as the targeted use of self destructing humans against noncombatant typically civilian
populations to effect political change (pg. 1534). One of the most remembered dates is American
history is September 11, 2001. This was a day in which suicide terrorism took the lives of nearly 3,000
Americans (History.com, 2010). This suicide attack is where 19 Al Qaeda followers hi jacked four
airplanes and used them to crash them into the World Trade Center in New York and into the Pentagon
in Washington D.C. This triggered the then President, George W. Bush to declare war to destroy
Osama bin Laden s terrorist network based there (History.com, 2010). Osama bin Laden was Al Qaeda
leader that claimed responsibility of the suicide attack on the United States. This type of use of suicide
terrorism was not only used to kill many innocent people, but to be televised and reported on to put

American Conservatism Essay
American Conservatism
Beginning with Nixon and continuing with Reagan after the radical changes of American culture in
the sixties and seventies, Americans would begin to shift towards more conservative ideas unsure of
the rapid radical change. In the 1994 mid term elections, the American people would elect a congress
of mostly conservatives for the first time in nearly 50 years. At the core of this success would be the
Contract with America. A set of promises and goals devised by conservative congressional
representative Newt Gingrich. In 2000 the Republicans (modern conservative party) would retain the
Congress and capture the White House. Conservatism has been a leading political ideology since the
inception of the United States to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historian Russell Kirk believes there are six basic tenets of all conservatism. To begin conservatives
believe in a transcendent order or body of natural law, which rules society as well as conscience.
Political problems at their roots are religious and or moral problems (9). The ideal that religion and
morality can have influence over political and social problems is widely seen in the United States. The
Republicans are often the choice of people with conservative Christian ideology.
Another important tenet of conservatism is a respect for the proliferating variety of human existence,
as opposed to the uniformity aims of most radical systems. Conviction that civilized society requires
orders and classes (Kirk 9). This is reflected in American conservatism belief that economic leveling
in inherently wrong. In the belief that economic leveling is wrong, conservatives also believe strongly
in protecting the rights of private property owners.
In addition, conservatives have a recognition that changes may not be salutary reform. Belief that
custom and convention are checks on radical change that could be harmful to society (Kirk 8). These
tenets are seen in American conservatism. In the fact that American conservative parties have always
been opposed to radical reform, such was the case when Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed and enacted
sweeping government intervention in his New Deal legislation.
In order to better understand conservatism one must consider

Why Was Andrew Jackson A Villain
Andrew Jackson was one of the most peculiar presidents of the United States. Jackson had a different
past then most of the presidents because he was born in poverty and had to work for his wealth. Other
presidents were born into wealth and had every opportunity handed to them. Although this played a
big part on Jackson s presidency this did not play as big of a part as you would think. He had a
military background, serving as a general in the war of 1812, along with experience with being an
attorney, and his own private practice. Sadly, his wife died a year into his presidency causing him to
become what this country knows as one of our worst presidents. The people started to view Jackson
differently after this incident, he was seen as someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jackson found that the native americans were occupying land that he wanted for American citizens, so
he harshly forced them out.. In Document A, Jackson proposed that the Native Americans are taking
over our land and we need to take it back. If you really think about what he is saying, he wants to take
the people out of their homes, drive them away with nothing, and take it for our country. While he is
planning this, the Native people already had an agreement with the US which gave them rights to hat
land by treaty. Jackson is shown as a villain by shoving these people out of their homelands without
caring about how this could affect them, only how it would help him. In Document B, it describes the
Trail of Tears, where Jackson made the Native Americans leave their homes sometimes at gunpoint
and face horrible conditions, like disease, unjust punishment, lack of resources, starvation, and
sometimes even death. They had to travel from the southeast of the Mississippi to Oklahoma in these
conditions. Even though this land was rightfully theirs and ancestors were the one who created this
home Jackson made them leave anyway. George Washington even though the right way to deal with
the Native Americans was to be kind to them and help them become a part of our

The Importance Of Social Class In Great Expectations By...
In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens shows that social classes existed but didn t limit the
characters. The main character Pip starts off as a lower class blacksmith but throughout the book
makes his way up the social classes. The social ranking a character had based how people treated them
and how the character thought of themselves. Helping others can benefit success in climbing the social
classes. Charles Dickens in Great Expectations, portrays that the characters were not limited to their
social class, but that social rankings existed. Pip shows how hard work can make changes to social
classes. Social classes can change with hard work. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Pip is
portrayed wealthy in his lifestyle compared to when he used to work as a poor blacksmith with
common clothes. In the courtyard I took the opportunity of being alone in the courtyard to look at my
course hands and my common boots (Dickens, 781). This shows how Pip is becoming aware that his
clothes were the same as any other poor person and how he wanted to change his lifestyle to become a
gentleman. While Estella is next to Pip he, we folded all my bills up uniformly, docketed each on the
back, and tied the whole into a symmetrical bundle (Dickens, 861). This is suggesting that Pip has
accomplished his goal of changing his social status and becoming a real gentleman with his hard work
showing that social classes do not limit characters that they could move up or down the ranks. Dickens
portrays how characters are not limited and held back due to the social level they had and how hard
work helps achieve goals.
People were based on their social classes. Charles Dickens shows that the way people in the society
were treated and how Pip was self conscious because he was in the lower class. Pip thought only that
he was a common labouring boy; that my hands were coarse; that my boots were thick; that I had
fallen into a despicable habit of calling knaves jacks; that I was much more ignorant than I had
considered myself last night, and generally that I was in a low lived bad way. (Dickens, 782). This
shows how Pip thought of himself having a bad life because he was poor and how thoughts of people
being rich unlike him made

6. What is a due date?
A due date is one of the four most popular priority rules, meaning that the job with the earliest due
date is selected first. The example shown indicates that this method is most effective in category d
which is the average job lateness measurement.
7. Explain the terms flow time and lateness?
Flow time is the period required to complete a specific job or a defined amount of work. The flow
time measures the time each job spends waiting plus the time it takes to be processed. Lateness refers
to coming, occurring, or remaining after the correct, usual, or expected time; delayed
8. Which shop floor scheduling rule would you prefer to apply if you were the leader of the only team
of experts charged with defusing several time bombs scattered throughout your building? You can see
the bombs; they are of different types. You can tell how long each one will take to defuse.
Given this situation I would most definitely use a shop floor scheduling rule that caters to the major
issues facing this situation. The fact we can see the bombs but they are of different variety plays a
major factor. We are also faced with a timeline to work with which will determine what scheduling
rule is selected. EDD would be select for several reasons; this would prioritize what bombs need to be
defused first. From there, workers can be assigned to getting that work done. Completion time is
relatively low with high

1943 Personal Narrative
Times like the year 1943, were never talked about in my family. 1943 was 60 years before I was born,
yet if you bring up that time, you would be hushed by your mother and told to be quiet. But why?
Nobody in the family even knew why. Well, except my great grandfather, Joseph G. Koch. He lived it.
Saw it. Smelled it. The odor of burned flesh was strong, he said. 2008 was the year when everything
changed in the family. The code was cracked. The silence was broken. The secret was out. That was
the year my twit headed uncle put himself to good use, and asked my Great Grandfather about the
importance of 1943 and what it meant to him. This was the first time anything was talked about. The
hushes and whispers finally dissipated. Grandpa was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He never forgot the sights, sounds and smells of the hospital during that time. Those dates were the
dates of the infamous Battle of the Bulge! During that particular battle many of the soldiers were
wounded and killed while in tanks. Whenever an tank was bombed, the soldiers inside were literally
cooked alive. The tanks being completely metal, transferred the heat of the bombs to the vulnerable
soldiers. The loss of lives was devastating! The injuries were horrific.
During this time, as wounded and deceased soldiers arrived at the hospital in England, Joe was forever
affected by what he saw, smelled, and heard. The deceased were charred lumps. The smell of burned
flesh filled the nostrils of the medical staff. The painful wailing of the injured, suffering from horrific
burns, was heart wrenching. Joe had never seen such devastation and destruction before.
As Joe talked about working in the hospital, he never took his eyes off of his grandson, who was
asking the questions, and pleading for the answers. His voice was always firm and steady, until he
spoke about the victims of the Battle of the Bulge. Then Joe s eyes teared up, and his steady voice
began to waver. Just talking to Joe, you could almost hear, see and smell what he

  • 2. The Waterfall Approach For Software Development Projects The waterfall approach to software development projects is a linear model, which focuses on individual stages of development including, requirement identification, analysis, design, coding, testing and operations. While this model has been around for decades, there are many drawbacks. This method heavily focuses on extensive documentation and front loaded requirements gathering; thus inviting the opportunity for significant and costly failures. As the landscape of information technology in the business world has evolved, we have seen a major shift from complex back end systems that didn t include input from stakeholders and only programmers could understand, to computer programs that are customized to the front end users and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method utilizes smaller cross functional groups of people that work together on complex issues in a creative self organized team environment. These teams should be comprised of all the right people needed to complete assignments and can include business analysts, developers, testers and the end users. Collaboration, teamwork and change are embraced rather than focusing on processes, extensive documentation and sticking to a precise plan. Incremental phases under agile allow for changes and product releases are delivered after each iteration. The most common agile method is scrum, in which a relatively small group of dedicated resources are solely responsible for every aspect of the work and are self sufficient. Additional popular agile methods include rapid application development, lean software development, Kanban, extreme programming and scrumban. In the agile manifesto, developed in 2001, some of the key principles are to deliver frequent improvements that add value, to welcome change that adds competitive advantage, to continually work together through motivated individuals and focus on simplicity and maximizing the amount of work not done. Article Analysis In the article, The Waterfall That Won t Go Away,1 Chatterjee describes how the waterfall method is still heavily relied upon in businesses and how it will continue to remain an approach to software development projects. Gang Related Violence Case Study Gang related violence is rising in England and Wales moreover gangs are becoming more aggressive in their attempts to control large parts of cities across the country. Efforts to control their territory are blamed for the rise in gun and knife related crime which has risen by 14 per cent in recent years. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported a 27 per cent increase in all violent crime in 2016. Young people are more likely to carry knives and resort to violent behaviour. • 4. The And The Great Gatsby s The Wolves By the time the skirmisher line was approaching the bridge our mules and the escort s horses were rested, watered and had been fed a handful of oats. Furthermore, the Raider s reserves had invested the farmhouse looking for us, while the main battle line still faced the city defenders. In fact, the enemy s entire attack had been disrupted and they weren t happy. Without any mounted scouts they were at a substantial disadvantage, which gave us great personal satisfaction. Indeed, we all had smiles on our faces. When I left them, the Wolves moved like shadows, well trained teams of three squads, and there were something predatory about them. Julie and Zetia stood together with the PDA in hand with Count Vee. By contrast, the lancers stood stiffly on their horses, waiting in a rigid formation on the road in front of the carriage for my command. We had pulled back our troops to the reverse side of the hill to make sure no one could spot us. Only Scout and I remained by the river bank watching the advancing Raiders from behind bushes in an unlikely location some distance from the foot of the bridge. I was sure the enemy scouts wouldn t give our vantage point much consideration. Vengeful happiness bubbled up inside me at the thought of removing more of these scum from the world. About a dozen shirtless men hustled across the long stone bridge with shields raised and swords ready. Their determined faces scanned the hillside for any movement, expecting an ambush while still on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Literary Analysis Of The Storm Kate Chopin implies in the selection, The Storm that the setting and the plot reinforces each character s action, but only two characters exemplify the title itself, Calixta and Alcee. The storm becomes the central element of Alcee s unrequited love for Calixta and ultimately the instrument of their forbidden love to each other. Hurston concurs in the The Storm that a forbidden relationship can become a cancerous love and silent death sentence. The Storm s theme was based on Love, Immoral affair, and Freedom. Chopin s technique of foreshadowing, symbolism, irony, tone, and imagery set the plot for Alcee, Calixta, Bobinot, and Clarisse in this short story. A bolt struck a tall chinaberry tree at the edge of the field. It filled all visible space with a blinding glare and crash seemed to invade the very boards they stood upon (425). The writer used Imagery to depict how nature shook the foundation of their respective marriages. The significance of the tall chinaberry tree that crashed the boards was that it made Bobinot and Clarisse almost irrelevant in the story. The author used the metaphorical expression to indicate how the storm schemed Bobinot and Clarisse out of the reckoning. The author employed the use of symbolism in the description of the storm. Storm, a natural phenomenon that brings about extreme weather condition that might lead to an undesirable outcome. The Storm in the context of the selection brought about a positive outcome. The storm in the story is not the physical storm that occurred outside with heavy downpour, but the coming together of Alcee and Bobinot. A physical storm forms when the atmosphere is saturated with water and droplets of water pour out from the sky. The symbolic importance of the storm represents the liberation of Alcee and Calixta, from the shackles of societal or moral expectation. He pushed her hair back from her face that was warm and streaming her (425). Although Alcee pushed Calixta s hair back to see her face, the author s interpretation was not physical. Chopin meant that Alcee was able to set Calixta free from the bondage of marriage temporarily. Bobinot played a major role in the plot that led to infidelity between Calixta and Alcee. ... • 6. Samuel P Huntington The Clash Of Civilizations There came the competition of global dominance in the modern era, over four hundred years of Western civilizations interacting, competing, and fighting. The Cold War which lasted over forty years of the Twentieth Century changed the course of the world and in the end, ushered in a new world order. In his article The Clash of Civilizations , Samuel P. Huntington captured what the world was like at the end of the Cold War. The question during the Cold War was What side are you on? became now Who are you? Huntington illustrates that culture and cultural identities are the primary causes of conflict in the post Cold war. Nations were attempting to answer the question they face: Who are we? To do so, they reference things that mean the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2006 led many to believe that it was the start of clash of civilizations, which Said argued as one not seeing the whole picture. The Egyptian revolution, of thousands pouring onto Cairo s Tahrir Square demanding the self determination they were denied, shows that the clash of civilization was a myth. The world is filled with clashes and significant conflicts, through the perspective of Huntington s thesis, one will understand the main cause will be rooted in cultural differences. Through the perspective of Said s thesis, one will understand that any conflicts in the beginning of the twenty first century must be thoroughly understood rather than viewing it through the lenses of an outdated concept. Since the Peace of Westphalia, the balance of power amongst civilizations is shifting. Although nation states will still be a dominant player in world politics but the main friction of global conflicts will take place among civilizations. The international system began with the Treaty of Westphalia and the conflict between monarchies in the effort to gain more armies, territory and money. Then the system began to shift towards nation states with the French Revolution. Instead of conflicts between nations, the aftermath of the Russian revolution led to the conflicts of ideologies, including communism versus fascism versus liberal democracy. • 7. Piety In Confucianism In truth, filial piety, humaneness and reciprocity are three main ideas, which plays very important role in Confucianism. To begin with, Confucius is a famous philosopher who gave advices to the rulers and individuals on their behaviors. Worth to mention, Confucius s teachings were complied in the Analects after his death. Moreover, Filial Piety means respect for one s parents, and most people is familiar with that idea in Confucianism. From what I learnt in China, filial is the starting point of virtue. In addition, I think filial piety is necessary in a family, and the children should show the respect to their parents. Another importance virtue is reciprocity, which means one should reply what another person has provided. Furthermore, reciprocity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Kepler s Laws Of Planetary Motion Kepler s Laws Johannes Kepler formulated the Three Laws of Planetary Motion. The first is the Law of Orbits, stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. The second law is the Law of Areas. This is the idea that a line that connects the planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas in the plane of the planet s orbit in equal time intervals. Last is the Law of Periods which states that the square of the period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. It is simple to just accept the laws and memorize them, but take it a step further. What are the explanations to these laws and how did Kepler come to those conclusions? The results that Kepler published actually began with Tycho Brahe. Brahe was interested in reforming astronomy, and wanted to prove his idea that planets circle the sun which then move around the stationary earth. He made several observations with advanced instruments that still to this day have been proven by calculations done with modern computers to be quite accurate. All of Brahe s observations were very useful and interesting to Kepler who became Brahe s assistant in 1600. Some propose that Brahe only continued making observations because he was unsure of what to do with them or how to apply them, so it was left up to assistants such as Johannes Kepler to put the information to use (J.V. Field). Kepler had been engaging in finding an orbit of Mars, and Brahe s observations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Walter Benjamin and the past disassociating with present In Walter Benjamin s Berlin Childhood Around 1900, he applies a variety of concepts with respect to time: past, present, and future. The concepts are highlighted in his vignettes: Victory Column , The Telephone , and Butterfly Hunt . Benjamin attempts to imbue his writing with a different structure of time from what was conventional. He perceives history as a section of moments, and each moment is an integral whole in its own right, making it equal to the present (Knights). Benjamin also notes that the ignoring of the past and the focus on the progression of the future causes harmful effects to nature (Knights). The concept of technological progress appears to give grounds for the domination and abuse of nature (Patke). Subsequently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though Benjamin attributes a sense of delight to his image of the Victory Column , there is also a contrasting affect of death that permeates through the vignette. There is a portico around the Victory Column, but it is when Benjamin asserts that this portico was itself the inferno a sense of death becomes apparent. It is evident that Benjamin wants to spotlight the darkness around the column. It seems that Benjamin is using this past image to illustrate a sense of responsibility for the innocently suffered of past generations. Benjamin is placing a redemptive quality to the death of the past individuals. There is a sense of redemption embedded in his past. Benjamin wants it visible that the Victory is surrounded by death, which is analogous of his present situation. Sigmund Freud agrees with Benjamin s reluctance on war as he states war Broke out, and it brought disillusion (Freud 172) and that A future war, because of such great advances in the means of destruction, would mean the extermination of one or perhaps both adversaries. (Freud 231). If Germany in Benjamin s present is to obtain a Victory in its oppressive endeavor, it is through mass death, which is proven through the past. Thus, the Victory Column depicts Benjamin s past delights before his innocence was corrupted by the future, and an example of how studying the past and its follies can save immense death. Progression through technological advancement is a process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Greek Culture Vs Callatian Culture In the article, it talked about how the different cultures around the world have different sets of values, which may seem wrong to one culture, but completely normal to another. The article gave an example of the Greeks and Callatians, who have very different cultural values of what to do with the dead. The Greeks believed in cremating the dead, while the Callatians ate their dead as a sign of respect. To one culture, the other seemed completely barbaric and disrespectful, and they would never do the other, as proved by King Darius. This lesson, althougn many years old, still applied to today, even in a place as diverse as America. There are many locations in America where it is not very culturally diverse. • 14. How Does Jane Austen Create Negative Feelings Towards Mr.... How does Jane Austen create negative feelings towards Mr. Darcy in the first few chapters of Pride and Prejudice? Jane Austen wrote her book about life for women in the nineteenth century; the Regency period. For women in this period, life was very unbalanced, women were not perceived as equals and men were superior and had full authority in every aspect of life. There was a clear segregation among men and women and the values they were expected to maintain. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want of a wife . Men received greater respect; an ascribed dominant identity. Their ideas and needs were considered a necessity; they were entitled to decide their own destiny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Bingley suggests that Mr. Darcy dances with Elizabeth but once again, Austen ensures Mr. Darcy responds in a way that adds to the restrained bias that already surrounds his character. She s handsome but not handsome enough to tempt me . This shows that Mr. Darcy believes he is better than everyone else. He doesn t believe in enjoying the evening, he thinks he shouldn t dance in a trivial manner; he must have the best. As the woman who Mr. Darcy says is the only one he would dance with is dancing already, Mr. Darcy doesn t dance; nobody else is good enough. This shows Mr. Darcy is spoilt and child like. His feeling of superiority is displayed here; he is obviously used to getting his own way. When Mr. Bingley defends those present, Mr Darcy tells him he is wasting his time. It is like Mr Darcy is determined to replace the high quality ideas of himself that others had created, with negative ones. He doesn t just appear to show a lack of interest, but makes his feelings of the evening, the company and the entire situation perfectly clear. By the end of the evening when Mrs. Bennet has returned and is telling Mr. Bennet of her encounter with Mr. Darcy, she confirms what everyone thought of him and Austen ensures that by this point, the reader has formed the same opinion. • 15. How North Korea became a Cruel Country How did North Korea become the cruel country that scorches both surrounding and distant nations with its sternly severe socialist flame? Subjugated by Japan in 1910, North Korea was mercilessly enslaved for thirty five years. Due to Japan s defeat in World War II in 1945, the United States occupied the southern region of the Korean Peninsula while Soviet troops seized the north. As a result communism spread like weeds. Sadly, North Korea s government, military, and economy were all by shaped by the leftist views suppressed on them. The root of the problem was Kim Il Sung, the first premier of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea. At the urging of the United States, the United Nations General Assembly established elections, introduced a constitution, and formed the Republic of Korea in South Korea. The North Korean government evenly divides the tasks of leadership among numerous officials as this obligation requires careful attention. In accordance with their constitution, the head of government is the premier; Choe Yong rim presently occupies this position. Specifically aiding the premier, three vice premiers and the cabinet, which is comprised of twenty eight ministers, are next in power. The uppermost lawmaking body, the Supreme People s Assembly, elects the majority of cabinet members. The minister of the People s Armed Forces is the sole exception. They went on with their daily routines and lived life as nothing had happened. They were not disrupted nearly as much as the unfortunate Jewish population facing mass genocides. The Jews were wrenched out of their homes, forced into the ghettos, and lost all of their civil rights. They were no longer treated like citizens or people by the Nazis. As the Jews were decried, the majority of German citizens did not lend a helping hand. The German townspeople in the novel Night, by Elie Wiesel, remained satisfied, despite the detention of the Jews because they neglected the appalling actions against the Jews, were self centered, and power hungry. The deportation of the Jews did not have any strong effects on the Germans. Also, they were not in the same situation as the Jews. They were not fearing death every second, starved, or running twenty miles in the horrendous snow. Because it was not them, they did not care. They did not have to fret, as their lives were not on the line. A famous example is Martin Niemöller s poem, First They Came For The Socialists . Niemöller talks about how the Germans came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me (Niemöller 7 11). Niemöller did not stand up for any of the minority groups that Hitler prosecuted because he was not one of them. This demonstrates how the German minds were working through this period. Many icons like Janis Joplin rose to their fame during this era. The hippie movement, even 60 years later, is a major landmark in history and pieces of the past can be seen in many different ways. Why are counterculture movements so infamous and what purpose do they serve? Do counterculture movements establish a certain principle or are they simply a rebellion against society? I feel as though counterculture movements take place for a reason. Counterculture movements are more than a rebellion and help bring out the issue that everyone tends to keep quiet about. Without counterculture movements, societies would be forced to stay within the limits of what others dictate as right or wrong. The beginning of the 1960s was a time of economic growth and a time of prosperity ( Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll 00:01:59). Important things came out of the decade, for example civil rights. The decade itself was a time of movement for not only blacks, but also for women and those who sought a life outside of social norms. Feminism in the 60s and the civil rights movement both fed into the historical 1960s counterculture movement. The historical counterculture movement began to simmer throughout the sixties and slowly came to a head. • 18. A Literary Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan Literary Analysis of Esperanza Rising To foreshadow events in books or to tell the meaning of a story, authors often use symbolism. Symbolism uses people, places, or things that have their own meaning, to express something different. The author of Esperanza Rising, Pam Muñoz Ryan, uses a certain fruit or vegetable to symbolize events of emotions that occur in the chapter. Three chapters in Esperanza Rising that represent an important part of the book are Los Higos, Las Cebollas, and Los Aquacates. In Esperanza Rising, figs, onions, and avocados symbolize a new beginning, the acceptance of starting anew, and the rewards followed after hardship. Los Higos, or figs, represent a new beginning, because of Esperanza s journey through the fig orchard. To begin conservatives believe in a transcendent order or body of natural law, which rules society as well as conscience. Political problems at their roots are religious and or moral problems (9). The Republicans are often the choice of people with conservative Christian ideology. The main character Pip starts off as a lower class blacksmith but throughout the book makes his way up the social classes. The social ranking a character had based how people treated them and how the character thought of themselves. Helping others can benefit success in climbing the social classes. Charles Dickens in Great Expectations, portrays that the characters were not limited to their social class, but that social rankings existed. Pip shows how hard work can make changes to social classes. Social classes can change with hard work. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Pip is portrayed wealthy in his lifestyle compared to when he used to work as a poor blacksmith with common clothes. In the courtyard I took the opportunity of being alone in the courtyard to look at my course hands and my common boots (Dickens, 781). This shows how Pip is becoming aware that his clothes were the same as any other poor person and how he wanted to change his lifestyle to become a gentleman. While Estella is next to Pip he, we folded all my bills up uniformly, docketed each on the back, and tied the whole into a symmetrical bundle (Dickens, 861). This is suggesting that Pip has accomplished his goal of changing his social status and becoming a real gentleman with his hard work showing that social classes do not limit characters that they could move up or down the ranks. Dickens portrays how characters are not limited and held back due to the social level they had and how hard work helps achieve goals. People were based on their social classes. Charles Dickens shows that the way people in the society were treated and how Pip was self conscious because he was in the lower class. Pip thought only that he was a common labouring boy; that my hands were coarse; that my boots were thick; that I had fallen into a despicable habit of calling knaves jacks; that I was much more ignorant than I had considered myself last night, and generally that I was in a low lived bad way.
