Argentin Economic And Monetary Policies
Argentina is considered to be one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America with a Gross Domestic
Product of about 540 billion in 2014, according to the World Bank. However, it hasn t always been
that way. Argentina has seen many periods of economic and political volatility ever since its
independence from the Spanish Empire in 1816. From commodity based export booms in the 19th
century to high inflation and debt defaults in the 20th century, Argentina is a country with a grim and
daunting economic future. Many scholars have predicted that this is the evident fate of the
Argentinean economy and that there is no way of digging themselves out of it. Argentina s political
economic history raises the concern of whether or not it is even ... Show more content on

From this territory of the viceroyalty, the main exports of silver, livestock and crops, such as wheat,
would be harvested and sent back to Spain in exchange for manufactured goods. Although, at this time
Argentina was flourishing due to its exportation of valuable goods, this small sectored economy
ultimately was the first factor that set the tone of economic depression in Argentina, as the economy
revolved around the cultivation and exportation of commodity goods. This trend was consistent until
the 1800 s, the latter of the colonial period, where trade saw a decline due to the Napoleonic Wars.
The decline was driven by tariff barriers and high transpiration costs, resulting in the Consumer Price
Index rising by 64 points. (Paolera and Taylor 35) With this decline and trade, Argentina saw a major
weakening of its major economic sector and there saw an increase in social inequality along with a
decline in the well being of the lower classes. Then between 180 and 1816 Argentina broke away from
the Spanish Empire and declared independence. Upon its newly found independence, Argentina s
economic struggles arose once again and would last for the next couple of decades as a result from
tension between the creole and remaining Spanish elites. The Spanish elites that remained in
Argentina set up an oligarchic republic that attempted to suppress the Unitarians by disengaging them
from the political

Abercrombie And Fitch Vs. Fitch
Abercrombie and Fitch is widely known for placing their stores in high traffic shopping channels such
as popular malls and plazas. A typical consumer would most likely find one of the brand s main stores,
Abercrombie Fitch or Hollister Co., located in their local malls. Locating the store and products are
not issues for the average consumer, but it is when they step foot into an establishment, just pass by it,
would be where the problems arise. With the brand s peak in the early 2000 s, stores were designed for
the trendy target market of the time. Creating a cool, environment with dim lighting, extravagant décor
and store fronts, upbeat music, and wall displays that would draw in worthy, customers. While this
may have worked well for luring consumers before the recession, things have quickly led to a
downward spiral after controversies continued to pile against this once mighty brand. Through the
ZMET research method, the consistent negative responses to provocative models on wall displays and

solely on who and what is acceptable to the brand. What used to bring crowds into these stores have
backfired due to society becoming more socially conscious and sensitive. This led to participants
informing us that they felt only people who looked a certain way are allowed to enter and were
intimidated instead of feeling welcomed. The environment of all of the stores under the brand

I can remember rare occasions as a child when I would wake...
I can remember rare occasions as a child when I would wake up for school and there would be
pancakes, eggs and bacon on the table and orange juice or Sunny Delight to drink. These exciting
occasions, however, were just that: rare. Most days I would bound down the stairs to the toaster loaded
with Pop Tarts. I would usually be disappointed that I couldn t devour a wholesome breakfast, but I
later came to understand the convenience of the Pop Tart. My parents could put pastries in the toaster
and continue to get ready for their day without having to worry about too much clean up. It was during
these early days of my education that I really found a love for the sugary, fruit filled pastries. Post

Along with their release to stores across the country, store managers were instructed to put the Pop
Tarts in the cookie and cake aisle, opposed to the cereal aisle where the Post Country Squares were
faltering in sales.
Kellogg started out with only four flavors of Pop Tarts: apple currant, blueberry, cinnamon and
strawberry. Over the years they have come out with a variety of different flavors including chocolate,
French toast and a very popular s mores version. The company decided not to frost the original
version because the creators thought that the frosting might melt in the toaster. The developers later
came to realize that the frosting would not melt in the toaster, however, and the first Pop Tarts with
frosting were released for sale in 1967.
In 1971, Kellogg decided to introduce Milton the Toaster, a cartoon character that would be used to
help promote the product. The character was a hit with the sample audiences and was launched
nationwide, but the campaign was terminated after a commercial showing Milton the Toaster being
hugged by a child fostered a fear that children may try to copy the commercial and burn themselves.
Pop Tarts came under a lot of scrutiny in 1992 when a man named Thomas Nangle sued Kellogg for
damages on the grounds that his Pop Tart got caught in his toaster and started a fire. The

Summary Of Ma Joad In The Grapes Of Wrath
Ma Joad is the driving force. She is determined to get to California, because she believes that life will
be better in California. Because she is so keen on getting to California, she often tries to take the
power of the family, and take the man s job. Ma believes that the family will get to California only
with the desire of everyone involved, and only if everyone participates in making it happen. She keeps
motivation strong throughout the entire book. Even though she often confines herself to gender roles,
she is often able to take power to motivate the group to move on, even in the toughest situations.
Occasionally when the Joads and company are not motivated to do something Ma will step up and
take control of the group, even though that is Pa s role. In one case she grabbed a jackhammer, and the
eyes of the whole family shifted back to Ma. She was the power. She had taken control (169).
Although Ma taking power like this is frightening to the Joads, it is the only way that the Joads are
able to make it to California together. In this case Ma is opposing moving on, but the words of the
group encourage Ma to look at the other side and she later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

situations. Maybe a person at an office has an innovative idea for an effective way to get things done,
but the idea is immediately rejected because it breaks a norm in the office. Or maybe the president

Yankee Ingenuity Character Analysis
How is one with Yankee Ingenuity escapes from being a prisoner of war living and surviving on the
enemy s land? In Herman Melville s Israel Potter, the protagonist represents Yankee Ingenuity because
he always manages to escape from adversity. Melville exemplifies this throughout the novel on how
the main character, Israel, faces and deals with adversity.
Israel Potter joins the American forces and goes to war with the British, where he is captured and then
escapes, which he lives as a prisoner of war in the enemy land. In the start of the book, Israel was
battling at Bunker Hill and was badly wounded. Fortunately, he was able to escape and recover from
the wounds. After recovering, he rejoined and boarded an American ship. Later at sea, the ship was
captured by the enemy s British ship and Israel was captured and taken into prison and was brought to
England. He thought of many tactics until he came up with a tactic that will work to escape from the
British ship. With careful planning, he patiently waited until he heard the drunken soldiers fall into a
deep sleep and finally finds his chance to escape. Then he manages to escape from ... Show more

asked Israel are where the ship had stopped, what he had been doing on the boat, and if he knew any
of the names of the people on the ship. Luckily, he knew a lot of things about the British because of
his adventure in England and he pretends to be British under a different name. He uses his knowledge
and finds his way to answer and lie to the lieutenant without getting himself caught in a lie. Israel

Google and Internet Privacy
Google and Internet Privacy
In this exercise on ethics and privacy policy we focus our studies on an oft occurring situation in
offices that have multiple employees sharing office resources that may lead to intrusive instances.
The case refers to a couple of employee s complaints of unwarranted pop ups on their computers from
unsolicited advertisers. In particular, the ads pertain to some sorts of HIV/AIDS medications that
stimulate recovery from this fatal disease or at least help cope with it. The immediate suspicion goes
toward targeted marketing carried out by many online advertisers today using pervious browsing
history and other such tools available to them. The employees delve about the possibility of who these

feel compelled to agree to any and every rule that they make so as not to be left out in the information
revolution that the world seems to be warped by. This is extended to the extent of the sanctity of
personal emails and even our home being challenged by Google products like Google Ads in Gmail
and Street view on Google maps.
The argument here is based on the premise that in today s day and age where we share much
information online on sites like Google and Facebook we have to admit that there is a certain amount
of privacy we hold dear that is being taken away from us through such activities as cookie tracking
and preferential scanning of content and the fact that this leads to embarrassment when on public
computers.
The fact that Charlie was zeroed in on based on a cursory perceptive judgment speaks volumes of how
little information can go a long way in ostracizing a person. Do we really believe that a loner is more
prone to AIDS than a college going easy go lucky chap.
Also, the ostracizing of the person blamed will evidently have repercussions. Are these necessary? Do
we really need to subject a person who is already conscious of his condition (HIV positive) to further
wallow in pity. Since the material found was not of a highly objectionable nature but is very
questionable of its source the matter would go on to deeply hurt the

his partner to elaborate; his partner explained that sometimes to increase the amount of arrest of top

Essay on Charles W. Chestnutt’s The Conjure Woman
Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman
The first half of Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman begins with the interaction between a
Northern white male and the conventional portrayal of a slave. In the novel an old ex plantation slave,
Julius, recounts stories that he says he heard as a child. The audience of the stories is the white
Northern male, who is the narrator of the story, and his sickly wife, Annie. The stories are told for
many purposes but my favorite reason behind the telling of the tales is Julius attempt and in most
cases achievement to acquire several things by this sly action.
From the time that Julian the slave meets John, the Northerner and narrator, the stories begin to roll off
his tongue. Julian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the stories where Julius is able to get something he desires is the one of Po Sandy. The drastic
love story and conjuring magic are just enough to distract the couple from perceiving what is
occurring. Julian tells of how two slaves are in love with one another, Sandy and Tenie, but Sandy is
passed around to different plantations because of his great work. Tenie decides that to keep them
together she can turn him into a tree. He becomes a tree but one day Tenie is away in town taking care
of someone and the tree is cut down to make the past owner s wife. The rumor began that one is able
to hear moans from the lumber in the newly built kitchen. It ends up that Tenie dies on the floor of the
kitchen and the narrator, John, believes that the story is unbelievable while Annie seems to be worried
about the outcome of the black couples love. The whole story is initiated with the narrator saying he is
going to make the old schoolyard into the kitchen. Julian then chimes in that it is a bad idea because it
is haunted and then it shows immediately following the story Julian is holding church meetings in the
supposed haunted schoolhouse that no one should be alone in.

Medieval Kings Compare And Contrast
The comparison and contrast of medieval kings demonstrates how they evolved and struggled as the
kings of this time period. It starts off with the destruction of Rome. Due to factors such as famine,
economics, barbarians attacks, and the Black Death, Rome was destroyed. Rome became the perfect
ideal of the time. The kings throughout the middle ages would try to recreate Rome, but they never got
back to the perfect city they imagined it to be. That being said, most of the kings learned from the
kings prior to them and advanced towards a society that was more like Rome. Religion was a huge
contrast point between kings of this time. For example, Charlemagne reformed religion in his society
during his kingship. It was stated that, He(Charlemagne) cherished with the greatest fervor and
devotion the principles of the Christian religion, which had been instilled into him from infancy
(Geary, 276). Religion was an important aspect of Charlemagne s life. He realized that French and
Latin were not the same, and the Bible they were reading was not the same as the Latin version. In
fear that they were practicing Christianity wrong, he brought in monks to correct the bibles and teach
people how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a huge change from prior kings and the churches. Previously, only those in power and monks
could read and write. This provided leverage over society. The king could twist what the Bible said or
even change the passages completely in order to get people to listen or convert to Christianity. The
public being able to read the Bible meant that the Bible and God could no longer be used a threat to
rule people. When no one was able to read, they did not know what the Bible said and had to believe
the king. People were threatened of not being able to go to Heaven if they did something that God said
was wrong . Charlemagne also appointed the Pope and was very humble about his

Conspiracy Theory Of Autism And Autism
Millions upon millions of people would die everyday form deadly disease and there was nothing
anyone could do about it. As a result, vaccinations were created to stop the sickness and mass tragedy
that came along with them. The measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations (MMR), that are supposed
to help are being questioned by people believing they are linked to Autism. Numerous studies have
shown that there is no connection between the two. The holes and lies in this theory are prevalent
when looking in depth at how this theory was established, whom it benefits if it s true, and the facts
that disprove it. Science is supposed, to tell the truth, but because humans are the ones performing the
experiments sometimes there are flaws. For instance, Andre Wakefield in 1998 of Royal Free Hospital
in London, England, said the Measles, Mumps, and rubella vaccines were to blame for autism.
Andrew Wakefield came to this conclusion based on results found in eight out of twelve children. His
results were then published in a medical journal called Lancet. Andrew Wakefield condemnation of
vaccination caused the public to become scared ( vaccinations and Autism . . .). Andrew Wakefield s
research was the starting point of the conspiracy theory that the measles, mumps, and rubella
vaccinations cause Autism. Furthermore, It made people, especially parents of autistic kids, question
and lose trust in vaccinations. Without Wakefield s research people, might not question vaccinations as
much as

Development of the Periodic Table, X Rays and the...
Chemistry has been the way of life for millions of years! It helps us develop new concepts of thinking
and finding solutions to our problems. Did you know that fire was the first chemical reaction humans
learned to use and control? (worldbook.com) Chemistry has helped our world come up with new,
advanced technology to benefit us all. Chemistry played a role in developing the periodic table, x rays,
and the telescope. Primarily, the Periodic Table of Elements was primarily thought to be developed by
Dmitri Mendeleev. However, Antoine Lavoisier first established the modern concept of the element in
the late 1700s (worldbook). Mendeleev published his version of the periodic table in 1869. Also, many

If it weren t for x rays, how would doctors be able to detect abnormalities within a patient? The x ray
was accidently discovered by physicist Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. He discovered it when he was
experimenting with electric flow currents in a cathode ray tube and saw a piece of barium
platinocyanide giving off light while he was working with the tube. His theory was that when the
electrons of the cathode ray tube hits the wall of the tube an unknown radiation, went across the room
and hit the chemical, and then caused a fluorescence.(paraphrase, Encyclopedia Britannica). Also, he
thought since he couldn t find any light refraction or things similar to light, that this new found thing
was unrelated to light. He named it X Radiation, this is also known as Rontgen Radiation. (Fun fact:
Roentgen can be spelled without the first e.) Rontgen also experimented further and learned that
paper, aluminum, and other metal things were transparent with this new invention. His first x ray was
of his wife s hand. He looked at the bones in her hand and he looked at the insides of metal objects
with his new found machine. Also, Roentgen received a Nobel Prize for his discovery. However,
Roentgen wasn t the only man to discover something in chemistry history. Who invented the

Too Much Power In Tommy Douglas And George Orwell s Animal...
Have you ever thought about power and what it does when there is too much of it? In the book Animal
Farm and the short story Mousland, one group has too much power and it influences the rules; which
shows the theme that if there is too much power in one group there is no equality within the rules. The
authors of Animal Farm and Mousland use the narrative techniques of characterization and conflict to
illustrate political messages, about power influencing, how the rules affect equality.
The authors Tommy Douglas and George Orwell use characterization to show the political message
that too much power affects the rules that affect equality. In the book Animal Farm the animals have
taken over the farm from the humans and started producing their own goods. In the book Animal
Farm, page 35 it says, The animals had assumed as a matter of course that these would be shared out
equally; one day, however, the order went forth that all the windfalls were to be collected and brought
to the harness room for the use of the pigs... You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in
spirit of selfless and privilege? ... Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk
and apples (this has been proved by science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the

such as school , nationality or location.

what a goddess looks like, quot; and quot;Mean people suck, nice people swallow and cool people let

they have a great sense of humor, a dirty mind, or perhaps they are bumptious people whom truly

Military stickers can be honorable and represent, hard work, pride, and dedication to ones country or

My Experience At School
I awoke on an early morning, my mother tugging on me. I ask, What are you doing? in a tired voice.
She replied, Get ready, Armani! That s when I remembered, that today was the big day, where I would
go to school for my first time. In a hurry, I jumped out of my bed and put on my clothes. I ve never

Betrayal In Macbeth And The Lion King
The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from our enemies . Betrayal is defined as the
breaking or violation of a trust or confidence that produces conflict within a relationship between
individuals such as friends, family members, or team mates. The people we trust or rely on are the
ones who are capable of betraying us. By disregarding or not respecting certain relationships with
people, our sense of loyalty can be destroyed. Some acts of betrayal can result in short term success,
sometimes acts of betrayal may be the ultimate downfall of an individual. As interpreted in both
Macbeth and The Lion King, many deeds of betrayal are acted upon, dismantling a number of
relationships creating the success to be either a short term success or an epic failure in the long term.

Parents With Bereavement
Helping Parents with Bereavement in order to Help Children
The single biggest protective factor facilitating early parental loss and poor physical and mental health
outcomes is the presence of a supportive, nurturing parent who models healthy grief and supports the
child s emotional expression (Lueken, Kraft, Appelhans, Enders, 2009; Lueken Lemery, 2004;
Worden, 1996). Werner Lin Biank (2012), set out to teach parents how to appropriately model grief, to
engage with children in their expressions of sadness, and to provide the family with resources and
coping skills. As previously stated, children that experience parental loss are at a high risk of a variety
of succeeding health and mental health problems (Bruskus, 2008; Dyregrov Yule ... Show more

It is important to recognize the fact that children with developmental disoders experience grief even
though their experessions of grief may be very different from their nondisabled peers or siblings. It is
also important to recognize aggressive and self harming behaviors. An increase in frustration and
compulsiveness, difficulties in relationships, somatic complaints, and withdrawal should be seen as
possible expressions of grief instead of as part of the child s disability (Bonell Pascual et al., 1999;
Kauffman, 2005; Lavin, 1989). Due to the fac that developmentally disabled children have trouble
understanding abstract concepts, they may need information about death and dying to be
communciatied through various mediums and to include multi sensory pieces to ensure
comprehension. Using phrases such as, He is with God , should be avoided in order to lessen the
chances of confusing the child. Developmentally disabled children are concrete thinkers and death
should be explained as simply and clearly as possible. Understand that responses to grief may
manifest themselves in a range of emotions, cognitions, behaviors, and physical reactions. Using
materials that the child can see, such as a feelings chart to help the him or her identify and describe
their responses may be beneficial. Talk to the child abou the purpose of rituals like wakes, memorials,
and funerals, being very detailed about what the child is to expect. Use of pictures, photographs, or
story books is encouraged in order to familiarize the child with new words and activities related to
death. Shielding children from the reality of death and mourning rituals should be limited as such
protective treatment may prohibit the child s coping efforts and grief reactions, leaving them at a
higher risk for developing psychiatric problems

Examples Of Proactive Personality Construct
The proactive personality construct was introduced by Bateman and Crant (1993) who defined it as a
relatively stable tendency to effect environmental change (p. 107). Since that time proactive
personality has emerged as a heuristic construct in organizational settings, showing significant
relationships with such variables as job performance, career success, and leadership quality (e.g.,
Crant Bateman, 2000; Crant, 1995; Seibert et al., 1999; Thompson, 2005).
Proactive personality is most frequently measured by Bateman and Crant s (1993) scale. The internal
consistency of this scale ranged from .83 to .89 across three college student samples. The construct
validity of Bateman and Crant s (1993) 17 item proactive personality scale was tested in relation to
other personality constructs, such as conscientiousness (r = .43,p .01) and social desirability (r =
.004,n.s.). In order to test for criterion validity, Bateman and Crant (1993) correlated their measure
with several criteria including, extra curricular activities aimed at constructive ... Show more content

Employees with this disposition tend to perceive opportunities for positive changes in the workplace
and then actively work to bring about these changes (Bateman Crant, 1993; Grant Ashford, 2008).
Proactive employees demonstrate initiation, perceive their work roles more broadly, take active steps
to get work done, initiate changes, follow through until completion, and subsequently perform well at

Planning Your Kid s Party
Planning your kid s birthday party can be a lot of fun. Kids birthday games form a major part of this
planning. They not only make a party memorable, but also serve as ice breakers for those shy kids
who might not know the others in the room. Here s a list of some fun party games which are sure to
make your kid s party a success. And what s more, they re quite economical too!
1. Pass the hurdle
You ll be amazed to find out that kids love to compete with each other. One of the best ways to add
some zing to your child s birthday party is to organise your own Common Wealth Games! Place some
hurdles across the room or the garden. Hula hoops, small stools, cushions, etc can be a part of the
hurdles. The kid who crosses the hurdles and reaches the finish line first is the winner. Award him a
gold medal (a chocolate disc wrapped in gold foil). You can similarly award the silver and bronze
winner too.
Tip: Make sure the hurdles are of the right size and height for the age group of your guests. Avoid
using objects for hurdles that have sharp edges. 2. Bite em off
Get fruity with your next game. Buy small apples or pear with stems basically enough fruit so that
each child has one. Before the party begins, tie a string to all the fruits. Now string them up to objects
so that the fruit dangles. Every child has to stand under the fruit and try to take a bite out of it without
using his or her hand. It may seem like an easy game, but soon the kids will realise that it s a task to

The Cap and Hook Days Are Over!
Bronde! Babylights! Balayage! Ah, the joys of the ever evolving hair colors, techniques and their
names! Inevitably, some will catch on and become worldwide salon staples, while others will be
sneered at and end up in a magazine as last years hair don ts. Years ago, the common hairstyle was
heavily teased and sprayed with monochromatic colors from roots thru ends. Now, with a growing
number of color lines and an unbridled imagination, haircolor techniques are exploding as stylists and
colorists set fire to their creativity! Todays Chef s experiment with time tested recipes in the kitchen ~
adding a pinch of this, subtracting an ounce of that ~ taking off their aprons and getting themselves

Financial Ratios
GROUP 1 REPORT FINANCIAL RATIOS
Financial ratios are useful indicators of a firm s performance and financial situation. Most ratios can

analyze trends and to compare the firm s financials to those of other firms. In some cases, ratio
analysis can predict future bankruptcy.

It is the cost of goods sold in a time period divided by the average inventory level during that period:
Cost of Goods Sold Inventory Turnover = Average Inventory
The inventory turnover often is reported as the inventory period, which is the number of days worth of
inventory on hand, calculated by dividing the inventory by the average daily cost of goods sold:
Average Inventory Inventory Period = Annual Cost of Goods Sold / 365
The inventory period also can be written as:
365 Inventory Period = Inventory Turnover
Other asset turnover ratios include fixed asset turnover and total asset turnover.
FINANCIAL LEVERAGE RATIOS
Financial leverage ratios provide an indication of the long term solvency of the firm. Unlike liquidity
ratios that are concerned with short termed assets and liabilities, financial leverage ratios measure the
extent to which the firm is using long term debt. The debt ratio is defined as total debt divided by total
assets:
Total Debt Debt Ratio = Total Assets
The debt to equity ratio is total debt divided by total equity:
Total Debt Debt Ratio = Total Equity
Debt ratios depend on the classification of long term leases and on the classification of longterm debt
or equity. The times interest earned ratio indicates how well the firm s earnings can cover the interest
payments on its debt. This ratio also is known as the interest coverage and is calculated as follows:
EBIT Interest Coverage = Interest Charges

Great Lakes Water Piping
Great Lakes Water Piping
Unbiased Introduction For years, there has been debate over who has access to the water in the Great
Lakes. The Great Lakes provide about 20 percent of the world s freshwater resources and many areas
would like to use that water for various purposes. Water is also becoming a valuable resource, with
many areas lacking the access to it necessary for their area s needs. Because of this, lawmakers passed
a compact in 2008 that was designed to protect the Great Lakes against pressure from other States to
withdraw water (Kalsness, 2011). A compact is an agreement between states or nations that bind them
to whatever they agreed upon. This compact makes sure that areas outside of the Great Lakes region
do not have access to the water. Despite this compact, some want to use the Great Lakes to pipe water
to other states that do not have the same natural resources. Proponents of this piping say that is gives
water to areas that need it and that it will provide additional income to the area (Cauchon, 2006).
Opponents say that piping would go against water conservation and environmental protection as well
as water management. They also say that it is a natural resource that belongs to the area and should not
be taken away to other areas of the country (Dempsey, 2008). Currently, the debate continues about
the correct use of the resource of the Great Lakes.

Start of The Renaissance in Italy During the 15th Century
The word Renaissance means rebirth. It was a period when people rediscoverd learning and looking
back to the classical civilizations of Rome and Greece for their inspiration. It was an exciting time of
new inventions and amazing discoveries, magnificent buildings and beutiful art. My aim in this essay,
is to explain why the Renaissance started in Italy during the 15 century. In this essay I will talk about;
The growing wealth of Italy, divided Italy, the classical period, humanists, trade and exploration.

The ancient ideas about beuty of mind, body and spirit, led on to a new philosophy, known as
humanism, which challenged the teachings of the medieval Church. Renaissance thinkers made
human beings, and human achivements, their main concern. They cared more about life in this world,
than about eternity. Most humanists did not reject altogether. But now they believed that, in some
ways, humans could be perfect, and almost equal to God. The discoveries by Renaissance scholars in
subjects as different as atonomy, music and maths all helped humanists. Scholars considered shapes,
such as squares and circles, to be mathematically perfect. They were delighted that Roman architect
Vitruvius had suggested that a perfect human body was naturally in harmony with these perfect
mathematical forms. They took this harmony as evidenve of a grand design , by which the univese had
been formed. Michaelangelo intended his painting to be more than just a picture: it is a statement of
humanist beliefs in the power and beuty of humankind. Michaelangelo believed that without God,
Adam could not live. Even so, he has portrayed him as strong, relaxed and unafraid. Michaelangelo s
painting shows us that, for some Renaissance artists,

The Comedy of the American Dream Essays
The Comedy of the American Dream
In the early 1950s, the American dream was the nation s common heartbeat. Citizens longed for the ?
ideal? family; most hid their shortcomings. The nuclear family included a mother, father, two children
and a pet, all residing in suburbia, USA. Fathers were the breadwinners, and mothers stayed home,
cooked, and cared for the kids. Each family included a boy and a girl, the former who always parted
his hair to the side and the latter who always wore pigtails. The nation was convinced that if one
worked hard enough, he or she could earn enough money to support the family and have plenty of
professional satisfaction. Everyone sat down to dinner together nightly, and discussed his/her day, and

The main comedy of the picture arises from the innocence of the characters clashing with the worldly
realisms, and the color transformation of Pleasantville parallels the transition that American humor has
taken over the past half century. Despite the harsh realities of the Depression and World War II that led
up to this age, an innocence was assumed during the 50s; today, no subject is too controversial for
television. In fact, the main facet of American humor today is the shock between the ideology of the
American dream as it supposedly existed earlier this century and the subsequent recognition of reality.
Historians and academics offer definitions which underlie today?s humor. In 1937, Walter Blair,
whose 60 year study of humor focused on the nineteenth century development of the genre, stated that
American humor was neither produced only in America nor contained characteristics privy only to
Americans. He offered instead that American humor meant ?humor which is American in that it has an
emphatic ?native quality??a quality imparted by its subject matter and its technique? (92). H. R.
Haweis, half a century earlier in 1882, had defined the technique of American humor as the three
shocks of contrast: business and piety, Aboriginal and Yankee, and the bigness of American nature
versus the smallness of

with the introduction of many chemicals and additives in the foods people eat. It is important to know
what nutrients and vitamins are being put inside the body. As of December 12, 2007 it is mandatory
for all prepackaged foods in Canada to be labeled with the Nutrition Facts, a summary of what is in
the food. This includes the Calorie count, the 13 core nutrients with the % Daily value of those
nutrients and, the full ingredients list. Similarly, this lab seeks to identify the major macromolecules
present in an unknown solution, the same process that food scientist go through in the lab, when
making the Nutrition Facts summary. The four main molecules that we will be testing for are
monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids. It is because the purpose of the lab is to test for
multiple macromolecules that the inquiry and testing process will be split into four independent tests
for the presence of each respective molecule. Testing for monosaccharides with Benedicts reagent will

Magical Realism In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Does The Metamorphosis belong under the magical realism genre? The Metamorphosis by Franz
Kafka is a short story describing the transformation of a lonely traveling salesman, Gregor, to a
gigantic insect. Besides describing Gregor s physical metamorphosis, the story also depicts Gregor s
mental metamorphosis from a human to an insect. In addition to Gregor s personal metamorphosis,
Kafka illustrates Gregor s family s transformation from tolerating Gregor to treating him with hatred,
disrespect, and disgust. In Bruce Holland Rogers s article What Is Magical Realism, Really? , he
defined magical realism as having repetitions in time and combining magical and ordinary elements.
Throughout Kafka s description of these events, it is clear that The Metamorphosis should be
categorized under magical realism because it combines magical and realistic elements and uses
repetition of time and distortion of identity, similar to many other magical realism works such as
Axolotl by Julio Cortázar and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Magical realism stories combine realistic and magical details to illustrate a real world with imaginary
elements. For example, in A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , the old angel has huge buzzard
wings, dirty and half plucked, forever entangled in the mud ( A Very Old 1). The wings are clearly
magical elements, but they are forever entangled in the mud , a realistic element. This entanglement
between magical and realistic elements is a common literary device found in magical realism.
Therefore, Kafka s combination of magical elements, such as Gregor s insect body, and realistic
elements like Gregor s family and bedroom, supports the classification of The Metamorphosis under
the genre of magical realism. When Gregor woke up from unpleasant dreams in the beginning of the
story, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect (89). This is clearly a magical
element, as it is obviously impossible for a human to turn into an insect in one night (or any amount of
time). Although Gregor goes through very dramatic changes, his regular human bedroom remains the
same. Aside from having an insect body, Gregor s surroundings, such as his

General Workforce Issues for Women Globally
The textile industry is an immediate topic of discussion when examining female working conditions
globally. Today, with 1.3 billion women employed, females constitute 52% of the participation in the
workforce (Source #2). Despite their large participation and slow move towards occupation
acceptance in the developed world, women still face many trials that stem from gender based
discrimination, especially within developing countries. The textile and garment industry constitutes
most likely the largest sector of manufacturing and profit production for many countries and therefore
will be the concentration of this paper to represent the working conditions for the majority of people
(WIEGO). Since females comprise 85% of the global garment industry, their gender role is relevant in
all processes (SOMO, 2011). This paper seeks to explain general workforce issues for women
globally, including specific Latin American country examples, what should be done to improve
working conditions, and what is currently being done. At first, the benefits provided by the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) were enough to give Latin American countries an edge to
hold off tight competition from other developing countries. However, in 1995, World Trade
Organization (WTO) agreed to gradually remove the 1974 Multi Fiber Agreement that installed a
quota system which limited countries such as China on the amount of products they could export to
developed countries (source #1). The elimination

Daddy To answer this question, let s dive into the realm of speculation as to what happened to Jesse s
dad. You will find that if you look between the lines you will find a convoluted answer to a simple
question. So let s start with what we know about Mr. Debenport and try to conclude why he left. The
information we know about Mr. Debenport is minute; we know he has a son, which means either he

centrally not grieving, grieving is usually used in the context of death. But how did you come to the
conclusion of 9/11 being the cause death of for the dad well as the intro stated this is just a speculation
as to what happened to Jesse s dad not fact. So this leaves you with a basic answer that seems like a
mad lib fill in the blank the dad died on (9/11). Though it s cheesy up until this though all other
theories were to be turf and pithy stupid and nonsensical they were all death by plane crash, divorce,

a tiny more about Jesse s dad and what happened to him. We can guess that Jesse was driven to
depression after the death of his dad and chose to be an author. Jesse chose to be an author after his
dad died on a business trip to New York. So to conclude we now see why this poem is so depressing at
the end. Jesse s dad didn t leave he died on 9/11 on united airlines flight 175 when the plane hit the

Informative Speech About Ebola
Today I will be writing about Ebola and if it will become a worldwide pandemic.
To start off, I will briefly explain what Ebola is. Ebola (also known as Ebola Virus Disease or EVD) is
a severe virus that started in late 1996 and was first misdiagnosed as a new form of malaria. I can
understand why they diagnosed the patients with malaria, the early symptoms were similar, but the
main reason is that they never knew Ebola even existed. Soon after, 1st September to be more precise,
there was a large outbreak and there were approximately [1]280 deaths and only 38 confirmed
survivors. The Ebola virus can spread very easily even though it is not airborne, though it is
waterborne and can be passed on through close contact as well as STD s and through mother to child.
The area that has been most infected is in Africa because of the lack of facilities and healthcare staff
available in the area as well as poor training. Another reason is that the burial rituals include kissing
touching and close contact. This causes Ebola to spread faster since it can stay on a dead persons body
for up to six months
There are many symptoms for Ebola including the following;
[2] Fever
Severe headache
Joint and muscle aches
Chills
Weakness
Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhoea (may be bloody)
Red eyes
Raised rash
Chest pain and cough
Stomach pain
Severe weight loss
Bleeding, usually from the eyes, and bruising (people near death may bleed from other orifices, such
as ears, nose, and rectum)

Presently, the predominant virus is HIV 1, and generally when people refer to HIV without specifying
the type of virus they will be referring to HIV 1. The relatively uncommon HIV 2 type is concentrated
in West Africa and is rarely found anywhere else. There are currently over 34 million cases of this
disease reported worldwide.3 This disease is very slow to develop and may not cause any significant
symptoms before it causes damage, as it is seen a person can have an HIV infection for years before it
progresses to AIDS. Usually, people infected with HIV progress to AIDS when their CD4 cell count
falls below 200.
VIRAL LIFE CYCLE
The main steps in the viral life cycle are (i) attachment of the viral gp120 to the CD4 T cell receptor,
(ii) binding of the gp120 to CCR5 or CXCR4 co receptors and (iii) fusion of the viral and cellular
membranes HIV entry into the cell is mediated by its trimeric envelope (Env) glycoprotein
gp120/gp41 complex and it happens in two major steps. [1, 2, 4] First, the surface subunit gp120 binds
to the cell receptor (CD4) and a co receptor (CCR5 or CXCR4). Upon receptor binding, the gp41
which is originally sheltered by gp 120, undergoes a dramatic transition from its native state into an
extended pre hair pin intermediate. Then, the transmembrane subunit gp41 inserts its fusion peptide
(FP) into the cell membrane and packs

How Does Norse Mythology Influence Viking Culture
1.1 Background
Vikings came from Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark and Norway.) The Viking age was between 793
AD to 1066 AD. They vikings were Norse seafarers who spoke the Old Norse language and who
raided and traded throughout Scandinavia and across wide areas of northern and central Europe. The
vikings lived a very different life compared to England during this time. The vikings believed in norse
mythology or commonly known as paganism. They worshipped many gods. The old stories they told
about gods, giants and monsters are known as Norse myths. Norse mythologies origin came from
Scandinavia but the viking religion technically did not have a specific name. They believed in their
gods such as the Odin, Thor, Loki, and Freya. Each God had a different meaning to their life. The

significant battle of conventional, religious powers versus freedom and the growing reality of Charles

retelling of one of the greatest courthouse showdowns in human history. Although many think the
religious Bible thumpers defending the Bible to be bias and inconsiderate in this play and in the actual

Many businesses aren t fully aware of these cultures and when encountered with them, they fail to
communicate or negotiate effectively. According to Jeswald W. Salacuse, who wrote the book The
Global Negotiator: Making, Managing, and Mending Deals Around the World in the Twenty First
Century found that there are ten major elements that complicate international business. A few that
stand out are Negotiating Goals: Contract or Relationship? My interpretation is that when dealing
business, it is sometimes hard to figure out how to act or speak. One side may think strictly business,
while the other side may want to get to know you and then talk business. Salacuse states that as a
general rule, it is safer to act formal instead of informal. Some cultures think that part of the
negotiation is more about forming a relationship between both sides instead of forming a contract. It
can be harmful to a business to expect one thing when they need to be open to more options and
expect the unexpected. It is important to try to understand how the other business does business.
Business is very tricky. You can go into a meeting expecting to form a relationship with the other
business, when they could not care less and want a contract formed. A common goal is an ideal way to
go about things. In a survey conducted of 400 people from 12 different countries, 74% of Spanish

Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E.E. Cummings
anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings can be interpreted both literally and figuratively.
Literally, the poem can be read to mean that someone lived in a town where everyone was unhappy,
unloving, and cruel. The people went through life growing up, forgetting their lonely, loveless
childhoods, while others died unloved with nobody missing them, therefore the town continued to
repeat the cycle of unhappiness for every following generation. Figuratively, the poem can be viewed
as a love story between Anyone and Noone, how they fell in love, lived in happiness, and died
together, even though everyone else in their town was unhappy and just going through the motions of
life. Some of the possible themes of anyone lived in a pretty how town are individuality, live as you
want to live, live purposefully, be happy, and do not let others affect your own happiness. The poetic
form of this poem is a free verse narrative with quatrains. Some exact rhyme is used, as seen in lines 1
and 2 of stanzas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9. spring summer winter autumn , in stanzas 1, 3 and 9, is repetition

Evolutionary History of a Tiger
I. Introduction
Phylogeography is a field of study that implements biogeography and genetics to understand the
geographic distribution of a species. It is concerned with historical principles and processes that
influence evolution and speciation. The tiger is an evolutionary wonder; it is a prime example of the
responsiveness that some species have to changing climatic conditions. The tiger once had the largest
geographic distribution of all cat species; subspecies adaptations allowed them to live in a large range
of habitats throughout the Asian continent making it a perfect candidate for the study of
phylogeography. This review will examine the evolutionary history of the tiger and will explain how
the species was affected by climatic fluctuations and biogeographic processes during the Plestocene
epoch.
II. Distribution
a. Current Distribution
Today, contiguous distributions can be found throughout southern Asia, far east Russia, and the Sunda
islands of Sumatra, and Java (figure 1). It is widely agreed that the evolutionary history and
distribution of tigers and other fauna endemic to Asia is largely dominated by glacial cycles during the
late Pleistocene epoch. An examination of environmental conditions during the late Pleistocene would
assist in explaining the current distribution and the central point of origin of the species
Figure 1: Historic and current geographic distributions of the eight subspecies of tiger. The Isthamus
of Kra is the boundary that separates

  • 2. Argentin Economic And Monetary Policies Argentina is considered to be one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America with a Gross Domestic Product of about 540 billion in 2014, according to the World Bank. However, it hasn t always been that way. Argentina has seen many periods of economic and political volatility ever since its independence from the Spanish Empire in 1816. From commodity based export booms in the 19th century to high inflation and debt defaults in the 20th century, Argentina is a country with a grim and daunting economic future. Many scholars have predicted that this is the evident fate of the Argentinean economy and that there is no way of digging themselves out of it. Argentina s political economic history raises the concern of whether or not it is even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this territory of the viceroyalty, the main exports of silver, livestock and crops, such as wheat, would be harvested and sent back to Spain in exchange for manufactured goods. Although, at this time Argentina was flourishing due to its exportation of valuable goods, this small sectored economy ultimately was the first factor that set the tone of economic depression in Argentina, as the economy revolved around the cultivation and exportation of commodity goods. This trend was consistent until the 1800 s, the latter of the colonial period, where trade saw a decline due to the Napoleonic Wars. The decline was driven by tariff barriers and high transpiration costs, resulting in the Consumer Price Index rising by 64 points. (Paolera and Taylor 35) With this decline and trade, Argentina saw a major weakening of its major economic sector and there saw an increase in social inequality along with a decline in the well being of the lower classes. Then between 180 and 1816 Argentina broke away from the Spanish Empire and declared independence. Upon its newly found independence, Argentina s economic struggles arose once again and would last for the next couple of decades as a result from tension between the creole and remaining Spanish elites. The Spanish elites that remained in Argentina set up an oligarchic republic that attempted to suppress the Unitarians by disengaging them from the political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A typical consumer would most likely find one of the brand s main stores, Abercrombie Fitch or Hollister Co., located in their local malls. Locating the store and products are not issues for the average consumer, but it is when they step foot into an establishment, just pass by it, would be where the problems arise. With the brand s peak in the early 2000 s, stores were designed for the trendy target market of the time. Creating a cool, environment with dim lighting, extravagant décor and store fronts, upbeat music, and wall displays that would draw in worthy, customers. While this may have worked well for luring consumers before the recession, things have quickly led to a downward spiral after controversies continued to pile against this once mighty brand. Through the ZMET research method, the consistent negative responses to provocative models on wall displays and advertisement. Many questioned if Abercrombie Fitch was trying to promote their merchandise or solely on who and what is acceptable to the brand. I can remember rare occasions as a child when I would wake up for school and there would be pancakes, eggs and bacon on the table and orange juice or Sunny Delight to drink. These exciting occasions, however, were just that: rare. Most days I would bound down the stairs to the toaster loaded with Pop Tarts. I would usually be disappointed that I couldn t devour a wholesome breakfast, but I later came to understand the convenience of the Pop Tart. My parents could put pastries in the toaster and continue to get ready for their day without having to worry about too much clean up. It was during these early days of my education that I really found a love for the sugary, fruit filled pastries. Post Cereals was the first company to come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with their release to stores across the country, store managers were instructed to put the Pop Tarts in the cookie and cake aisle, opposed to the cereal aisle where the Post Country Squares were faltering in sales. Kellogg started out with only four flavors of Pop Tarts: apple currant, blueberry, cinnamon and strawberry. Over the years they have come out with a variety of different flavors including chocolate, French toast and a very popular s mores version. The company decided not to frost the original version because the creators thought that the frosting might melt in the toaster. The developers later came to realize that the frosting would not melt in the toaster, however, and the first Pop Tarts with frosting were released for sale in 1967. In 1971, Kellogg decided to introduce Milton the Toaster, a cartoon character that would be used to help promote the product. The character was a hit with the sample audiences and was launched nationwide, but the campaign was terminated after a commercial showing Milton the Toaster being hugged by a child fostered a fear that children may try to copy the commercial and burn themselves. Pop Tarts came under a lot of scrutiny in 1992 when a man named Thomas Nangle sued Kellogg for damages on the grounds that his Pop Tart got caught in his toaster and started a fire. The ... In Herman Melville s Israel Potter, the protagonist represents Yankee Ingenuity because he always manages to escape from adversity. Israel Potter joins the American forces and goes to war with the British, where he is captured and then escapes, which he lives as a prisoner of war in the enemy land. It starts off with the destruction of Rome. Due to factors such as famine, economics, barbarians attacks, and the Black Death, Rome was destroyed. Rome became the perfect ideal of the time. The kings throughout the middle ages would try to recreate Rome, but they never got back to the perfect city they imagined it to be. That being said, most of the kings learned from the kings prior to them and advanced towards a society that was more like Rome. Religion was a huge contrast point between kings of this time. For example, Charlemagne reformed religion in his society during his kingship. It was stated that, He(Charlemagne) cherished with the greatest fervor and devotion the principles of the Christian religion, which had been instilled into him from infancy (Geary, 276). Andrew Wakefield came to this conclusion based on results found in eight out of twelve children. His results were then published in a medical journal called Lancet. Due to the fac that developmentally disabled children have trouble understanding abstract concepts, they may need information about death and dying to be communciatied through various mediums and to include multi sensory pieces to ensure comprehension. The Great Lakes provide about 20 percent of the world s freshwater resources and many areas would like to use that water for various purposes. Water is also becoming a valuable resource, with many areas lacking the access to it necessary for their area s needs. Because of this, lawmakers passed a compact in 2008 that was designed to protect the Great Lakes against pressure from other States to withdraw water (Kalsness, 2011). A compact is an agreement between states or nations that bind them to whatever they agreed upon. This compact makes sure that areas outside of the Great Lakes region do not have access to the water. Despite this compact, some want to use the Great Lakes to pipe water to other states that do not have the same natural resources. Proponents of this piping say that is gives water to areas that need it and that it will provide additional income to the area (Cauchon, 2006). Opponents say that piping would go against water conservation and environmental protection as well as water management. They also say that it is a natural resource that belongs to the area and should not be taken away to other areas of the country (Dempsey, 2008). The ancient ideas about beuty of mind, body and spirit, led on to a new philosophy, known as humanism, which challenged the teachings of the medieval Church. Renaissance thinkers made human beings, and human achivements, their main concern. They cared more about life in this world, than about eternity. Most humanists did not reject altogether. But now they believed that, in some ways, humans could be perfect, and almost equal to God. The discoveries by Renaissance scholars in subjects as different as atonomy, music and maths all helped humanists. Scholars considered shapes, such as squares and circles, to be mathematically perfect. They were delighted that Roman architect Vitruvius had suggested that a perfect human body was naturally in harmony with these perfect mathematical forms. They took this harmony as evidenve of a grand design , by which the univese had been formed. Michaelangelo intended his painting to be more than just a picture: it is a statement of humanist beliefs in the power and beuty of humankind. Michaelangelo believed that without God, Adam could not live. Even so, he has portrayed him as strong, relaxed and unafraid. Michaelangelo s painting shows us that, for some Renaissance artists, ... • 27. The Comedy of the American Dream Essays The Comedy of the American Dream In the early 1950s, the American dream was the nation s common heartbeat. Citizens longed for the ? ideal? family; most hid their shortcomings. The nuclear family included a mother, father, two children and a pet, all residing in suburbia, USA. Fathers were the breadwinners, and mothers stayed home, cooked, and cared for the kids. Each family included a boy and a girl, the former who always parted his hair to the side and the latter who always wore pigtails. The nation was convinced that if one worked hard enough, he or she could earn enough money to support the family and have plenty of professional satisfaction. Everyone sat down to dinner together nightly, and discussed his/her day, and innocence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main comedy of the picture arises from the innocence of the characters clashing with the worldly realisms, and the color transformation of Pleasantville parallels the transition that American humor has taken over the past half century. Despite the harsh realities of the Depression and World War II that led up to this age, an innocence was assumed during the 50s; today, no subject is too controversial for television. In fact, the main facet of American humor today is the shock between the ideology of the American dream as it supposedly existed earlier this century and the subsequent recognition of reality. Historians and academics offer definitions which underlie today?s humor. In 1937, Walter Blair, whose 60 year study of humor focused on the nineteenth century development of the genre, stated that American humor was neither produced only in America nor contained characteristics privy only to Americans. He offered instead that American humor meant ?humor which is American in that it has an emphatic ?native quality??a quality imparted by its subject matter and its technique? (92). H. R. Haweis, half a century earlier in 1882, had defined the technique of American humor as the three shocks of contrast: business and piety, Aboriginal and Yankee, and the bigness of American nature versus the smallness of ... An Experiment for Staying Healthy with the Food We Eat Introduction The issue of health, and proper eating habits has been a growing trend in recent years, with the introduction of many chemicals and additives in the foods people eat. It is important to know what nutrients and vitamins are being put inside the body. As of December 12, 2007 it is mandatory for all prepackaged foods in Canada to be labeled with the Nutrition Facts, a summary of what is in the food. This includes the Calorie count, the 13 core nutrients with the % Daily value of those nutrients and, the full ingredients list. Similarly, this lab seeks to identify the major macromolecules present in an unknown solution, the same process that food scientist go through in the lab, when making the Nutrition Facts summary. The four main molecules that we will be testing for are monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids. It is because the purpose of the lab is to test for multiple macromolecules that the inquiry and testing process will be split into four independent tests for the presence of each respective molecule. Testing for monosaccharides with Benedicts reagent will be referred to as Test 1 Testing for the presence of lipids with the Blotth test will be referred to as Test 2 Testing for the presence of starches in the unknown solution with Lugol s reagent will be referred to as Test 3 Testing for proteins with the Biuret solution will be referred to as Test 4 Question What macromolecules are present in Mr. Oster s Olympic restoration ... • 29. Magical Realism In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Does The Metamorphosis belong under the magical realism genre? The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a short story describing the transformation of a lonely traveling salesman, Gregor, to a gigantic insect. Besides describing Gregor s physical metamorphosis, the story also depicts Gregor s mental metamorphosis from a human to an insect. In addition to Gregor s personal metamorphosis, Kafka illustrates Gregor s family s transformation from tolerating Gregor to treating him with hatred, disrespect, and disgust. In Bruce Holland Rogers s article What Is Magical Realism, Really? , he defined magical realism as having repetitions in time and combining magical and ordinary elements. Throughout Kafka s description of these events, it is clear that The Metamorphosis should be categorized under magical realism because it combines magical and realistic elements and uses repetition of time and distortion of identity, similar to many other magical realism works such as Axolotl by Julio Cortázar and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Magical realism stories combine realistic and magical details to illustrate a real world with imaginary elements. For example, in A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , the old angel has huge buzzard wings, dirty and half plucked, forever entangled in the mud ( A Very Old 1). The wings are clearly magical elements, but they are forever entangled in the mud , a realistic element. This entanglement between magical and realistic elements is a common literary device found in magical realism. Therefore, Kafka s combination of magical elements, such as Gregor s insect body, and realistic elements like Gregor s family and bedroom, supports the classification of The Metamorphosis under the genre of magical realism. When Gregor woke up from unpleasant dreams in the beginning of the story, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect (89). This is clearly a magical element, as it is obviously impossible for a human to turn into an insect in one night (or any amount of time). Although Gregor goes through very dramatic changes, his regular human bedroom remains the same. Aside from having an insect body, Gregor s surroundings, such as his ... Today, with 1.3 billion women employed, females constitute 52% of the participation in the workforce (Source #2). Despite their large participation and slow move towards occupation acceptance in the developed world, women still face many trials that stem from gender based discrimination, especially within developing countries. The textile and garment industry constitutes most likely the largest sector of manufacturing and profit production for many countries and therefore will be the concentration of this paper to represent the working conditions for the majority of people (WIEGO). Since females comprise 85% of the global garment industry, their gender role is relevant in all processes (SOMO, 2011). This paper seeks to explain general workforce issues for women globally, including specific Latin American country examples, what should be done to improve working conditions, and what is currently being done. At first, the benefits provided by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) were enough to give Latin American countries an edge to hold off tight competition from other developing countries. However, in 1995, World Trade Organization (WTO) agreed to gradually remove the 1974 Multi Fiber Agreement that installed a quota system which limited countries such as China on the amount of products they could export to developed countries (source #1). Have you ever wondered what happened to Jesse Debenport s dad in Hey Daddy To answer this question, let s dive into the realm of speculation as to what happened to Jesse s dad. You will find that if you look between the lines you will find a convoluted answer to a simple question. So let s start with what we know about Mr. Debenport and try to conclude why he left. But how did you come to the conclusion of 9/11 being the cause death of for the dad well as the intro stated this is just a speculation as to what happened to Jesse s dad not fact. So this leaves you with a basic answer that seems like a mad lib fill in the blank the dad died on (9/11). • 32. Informative Speech About Ebola Today I will be writing about Ebola and if it will become a worldwide pandemic. To start off, I will briefly explain what Ebola is. Ebola (also known as Ebola Virus Disease or EVD) is a severe virus that started in late 1996 and was first misdiagnosed as a new form of malaria. I can understand why they diagnosed the patients with malaria, the early symptoms were similar, but the main reason is that they never knew Ebola even existed. Soon after, 1st September to be more precise, there was a large outbreak and there were approximately [1]280 deaths and only 38 confirmed survivors. The Ebola virus can spread very easily even though it is not airborne, though it is waterborne and can be passed on through close contact as well as STD s and through mother to child. The area that has been most infected is in Africa because of the lack of facilities and healthcare staff available in the area as well as poor training. Another reason is that the burial rituals include kissing touching and close contact. This causes Ebola to spread faster since it can stay on a dead persons body for up to six months There are many symptoms for Ebola including the following; [2] Fever Severe headache Joint and muscle aches Chills Weakness Nausea and vomiting Diarrhoea (may be bloody) Red eyes Raised rash Chest pain and cough Stomach pain Severe weight loss Bleeding, usually from the eyes, and bruising (people near death may bleed from other orifices, such as ears, nose, and rectum) Internal bleeding ... There are currently over 34 million cases of this disease reported worldwide.3 This disease is very slow to develop and may not cause any significant symptoms before it causes damage, as it is seen a person can have an HIV infection for years before it progresses to AIDS. Usually, people infected with HIV progress to AIDS when their CD4 cell count falls below 200. VIRAL LIFE CYCLE The main steps in the viral life cycle are (i) attachment of the viral gp120 to the CD4 T cell receptor, (ii) binding of the gp120 to CCR5 or CXCR4 co receptors and (iii) fusion of the viral and cellular membranes HIV entry into the cell is mediated by its trimeric envelope (Env) glycoprotein gp120/gp41 complex and it happens in two major steps. [1, 2, 4] First, the surface subunit gp120 binds to the cell receptor (CD4) and a co receptor (CCR5 or CXCR4). Upon receptor binding, the gp41 which is originally sheltered by gp 120, undergoes a dramatic transition from its native state into an extended pre hair pin intermediate. A few that stand out are Negotiating Goals: Contract or Relationship? My interpretation is that when dealing business, it is sometimes hard to figure out how to act or speak. One side may think strictly business, while the other side may want to get to know you and then talk business. Salacuse states that as a general rule, it is safer to act formal instead of informal. It can be harmful to a business to expect one thing when they need to be open to more options and expect the unexpected. It is important to try to understand how the other business does business. Literally, the poem can be read to mean that someone lived in a town where everyone was unhappy, unloving, and cruel. The people went through life growing up, forgetting their lonely, loveless childhoods, while others died unloved with nobody missing them, therefore the town continued to repeat the cycle of unhappiness for every following generation. Figuratively, the poem can be viewed as a love story between Anyone and Noone, how they fell in love, lived in happiness, and died together, even though everyone else in their town was unhappy and just going through the motions of life. Some of the possible themes of anyone lived in a pretty how town are individuality, live as you want to live, live purposefully, be happy, and do not let others affect your own happiness. It is concerned with historical principles and processes that influence evolution and speciation. The tiger is an evolutionary wonder; it is a prime example of the responsiveness that some species have to changing climatic conditions. The tiger once had the largest geographic distribution of all cat species; subspecies adaptations allowed them to live in a large range of habitats throughout the Asian continent making it a perfect candidate for the study of phylogeography. This review will examine the evolutionary history of the tiger and will explain how the species was affected by climatic fluctuations and biogeographic processes during the Plestocene epoch. II. Distribution a. Current Distribution Today, contiguous distributions can be found throughout southern Asia, far east Russia, and the Sunda islands of Sumatra, and Java (figure 1). It is widely agreed that the evolutionary history and distribution of tigers and other fauna endemic to Asia is largely dominated by glacial cycles during the late Pleistocene epoch.
