Marketing Strategy Of Apple Inc
Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs founded Apple Inc. in 1976 (pg.248). The company launched by
manufacturing computers. Due to the competitive market of PCs Apple Inc. then used other strategies
to benefit the company s profit. Apple Inc. manufactured a variety of products such as Notebook
computers, the PowerBooks, iPods and iPhones to name a few. With these products, Apple
revolutionized the PC market. Although the success of the company was solely on the production of
iPods and iPhones, the company was stationary as a PC manufacturer. Strategies used by Apple Inc. In
order to develop a competitive advantage with rival PC manufacturers such as Dell, Microsoft,
Toshiba, Acer, etc. Apple Inc. used a broad differentiation strategy. This ... Show more content on

The divergent types of iPods offered different features and memory size. The innovative technology
had several mishaps, the company continued to create technology to fix errors and satisfy customer
needs or complaints. Although Apple Inc. was faced with errors, they continued to profit seventy
percent of the Market Place. S.W.O.T Analysis Strengths Steve Jobs developed Apple Inc. through his
vision; he wanted Apple Inc. to stay ahead of the technology industry by developing new and
innovative technology that no other PC manufacture had to offer the Market Place. When the company
began offering smartphones and personal media players, this became a major strength for the company
as it continued to grow. When looking at the root of the company as a personal computer industry, the
development of the different types of PCs was a strength for the company as well, because it divided
society into three groups and developed PCs that would benefit those pacific groups of individuals. An
example of this would be the Mac Pro, the iMac, and the Mac mini. The Mac Pro aimed at
professional and business users, the iMac targeted educational and business use, and the Mac mini was
for consumer use (pg. 253). Weaknesses Although Apple Inc. has a variety of innovative products, the
price of the products is a major weakness compared to other companies. Other rival companies
develop products that began at low end to high end products compared to Apple Inc. Opportunities A

Marilyn Monroe Accomplishments
Marilyn Monroe was born June 1st, 1926 in Los Angeles, California as Norma Jean Baker. Her
mother, Gladys Pearl Baker was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when Monroe was only seven
years old. With an absent father and a mother who was often institutionalized, the young girl was left
to fend for herself in the foster care system. The demons of her past would haunt her until she took her
life in 1962, at the age of thirty six. Still, Marilyn Monroe goes down in history as one of the most
influential females of her time. Her positive aura and smile charmed many people, and led her to the
fame she has today. Despite all the odds, Marilyn Monroe was selfless and kind. . . and smart as well.
Her rise to fame from a troubled household inspired

The Handless Maiden Chapter Summary
The Handless Maiden takes a look into a side of history less often seen. Usually it is said that the
victor writes the history books and more often than not that is the perspective from which people view
history. Perry shows the reader not just the losing side of the Morisco people, but the side of the
women in that society who are usually seen by Western culture as having very little power or
influence in their culture. The influence of those women had a great deal to do with why they held
onto what made them a people. They were the predominant influence in their households that kept the
family and cultural traditions alive. The key factor Perry uses to demonstrate this throughout the book
is their stories and legends, particularly The Handless Maiden. Perry writes so that the entire focus of
the book is on the Moriscos and keeps the European side of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The maiden in the story is cast out from her home because of her faith in Allah. That is something the
Morisco people could relate to directly and in different ways depending on the time period. The
maiden is found and rescued by a king and things look up for her. Unfortunately there were not many
times where things looked up for these people. Perhaps during times of uprisings before they were
defeated when they could do as they wished. She is then banished with her child to the wilderness.
Banishment was not an unknown feeling for these people and mothers alone protecting their children
would not be unheard of either. The last part of the story is what gave these people hope, and hope is a
very strong thing. Without hope no one could ever get through the things that these people did. That is
why this story and others like it were so important and that is what Perry was trying to show with all
of the repetition of this story throughout the

The Target Corporation Is A Retail Company
The Target Corporation is a retail company situated throughout the United States. The founder, George
Draper Dayton formed the Dayton Dry Goods Company in 1902. Back in 1962, Target launched their
first store in Roseville, Minnesota. Ultimately in the year 2000, Dayton Hudson store name was
changed to Target. They have become the second largest retailer by sales and revenue based on the
United States stores (Cite 1 Wikipedia). Similar to Walmart, Target has over a period of time received
some criticism with community groups and the workers. Target has prospered and sustained diversity
with employees of disparate age, style, race, and more. Lions, tigers and panthers are enjoyed in the
Markell household, but unable to actually own one. For that reason, a pack of dogs roams the house
for the protecting and guarding the precious family. When marketing brought in the official
commissioner, Bullseye, the mascot for Target, This dog was spotted in many marketing campaigns.
Another central reason to shop at Target is the simple layout of the store. The staff is snappier dressed
and present patience with handling people. Usually there are Starbucks inside this store, although they
are a bit on the pricy side. Another advantage is how Target believes in the community and touches
many people s lives. Children are our future and if you own a Target card, you could designate a
school to make contributions toward. This is known as the Take Charge of Education (Cite

Folk Hero Essay
A Folk hero in China Folk hero is almost in every country, and the story of the hero is often gives
some positive moral. Folk hero s stories are always popular at every age. However, the reason for me
to choose this topic is I wrote the same topic in another class about two years ago. This time I also
want to write this topic, but I have new ideas and new opinions during this two years. China has a
history of more than 5000 years even if there are many dynasties of change. During this 5000 years
there are lots of folk heroes appeared. Some of the heroes were deified gods, but most of them are real
people. For these heroes, people usually added lots of character or power to them. Because the
purpose of people is to spread these heroes stories and make people learn these heroes characters by
this. The character likes brave, loyal, clever and honest. And the stories have the similar part with
other countries folk hero which is the justice always prevail over evil. George R.R. Martin once said,
Most have been forgotten. Most deserve to be forgotten. The heroes will always be remembered. The
best. The best and the worst. And a few who were a bit of both. But lots of folk heroes are always
popular. We should remember heroes, because their stories can teach us much things, these things are
always very important for us. And there is a folk hero who I am really respects him in China history.
His name is Guan Yu, because by his story I learned brave and loyal. Guan Yu is a

Progressive Rock Era
The progressive rock era was primarily found and established in the late 1960s to the early 1970s. It
primarily evolved due to a mostly British attempt to elevate rock music to new levels of artistic
credibility. The primary characteristics of this genre is to push the boundaries of rock s technical and
compositional boundaries. By utilizing this idea, the songs produced incorporate elements from jazz,
classical, and vary greatly depending on the background of the person. If a musician grew up listening
to Jazz, there will be lots of jazz elements found in the progressive music he or she was producing.
The instrument choice also provides a huge element of the unique sound a musician or band presents
through his or her music.

House On Mango Street Identity Analysis
Various meanings of Identity exist in the world. How would you describe yourself? What kind of
person are you? If someone asks you these questions, how do you reply to them? You make the choice
among many alternatives by basing your way because everyone holds unique traits and a unique
personality. I also hold some traits that includes not only positive but also negative. It indicates
Identity in general. people s concepts of who they are, of what sort of people they are, and how they
relate to others (Hogg and Abrams 1988, 2). In other words, the meaning of identity describes who a
person is or the qualities of a person or group that make them different from others ( Identity).
Throughout the House on Mango Street, Esperanza showed herself and who she wants to become. She
lives on Mango Street at the age of twelve. As she named the title the House on Mango Street to the
book, Esperanza s family, neighborhood and the place where she lives on show the most significant
part of her identity. Also, the place Mango Street where she spends most of her childhood changes her
a lot from a girl to a woman. The Latin American traditions made up her another part of her identity.
In her growth process, exile, poverty, and the restrictions of their gender roles by cultural traditions
influenced Esperanza. As Esperanza shows her identity on the House on Mango Street, this booklet

Female Heroines Of The Movie The Alien Films
Traditional action films have positioned male heroes at the center of the narrative, with flat female
characters often needing to be saved by the male lead. As women in the 1980s began seeking
professional jobs and pursuing higher levels of education, gaining greater independence and in a sense
challenging the patriarchal expectations of the time, films began to reflect this change. One of the
genres in which this change became the most prevalent was the action film. Sarah Connors in the
Terminator films and Ellen Ripley in the Alien films, serve as excellent examples. However, as female
heroines become the focus of these narratives, their traditional feminine traits, such as emotional
expressivity, tenderness, and passiveness, are replaced with attributes like strength and aggression
typically associated with masculinity. Additionally, these female characters often turn to guns, a
weapon traditionally used to symbolize masculinity. Within these films, the continued use of the
phrase hard , in describing both the use of hardware and the heroines hard body, makes much more
obvious the lack of soft , more innately feminine qualities (Brown 60). There exists disagreement as to
whether these female characters serve to empower women in society or if their presentation is too
masculine, thus presenting them as essentially men in female clothing. Although these heroines
undoubtedly display traits more masculine than their female film predecessors, it can be argued that it

Deat Death Research Paper
God s original intent is that dominion be expressed through a relationship with God and others. It is
not surprising that Satan, as part of his agenda to rob God of His glory, would do what he can to
promote division within humanity. This division is seen all across humanity including the church.
Conflict originated in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned. As stated earlier, Adam and
Eve lived in perfect harmony with God and each other. Their relationship had great freedom. God s
only stipulation was that they were not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God said
if you eat of it, ...in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Gen. 2:17b). When they sinned
against God by eating the fruit, death became a reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bible does not support this; rather it supports a definition of separation. The Kregel Dictionary of
the Bible and Theology states, Scripture emphasizes that death is a separation rather than cessation,
except that the physical body ceases to function until resurrected in a different form. Adam and Eve
were separated from their relationship to God and paradise (Gen. 3:23 24). They died or were
separated with respect to their covenant privileges and suffered the indictment and judgment of their
Sovereign. Death as separation is also a physical separation between the body and spirit and soul (1
Cor. 15:21 22). Eternal death is an endless separation from the presence of God 1Cor. 6:9 10). Adam
and Eve felt the immediate effects of death because of the separation of

Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemingway
Hills Like White Elephants is the epitome of Ernest Hemingway s legendarily concise writing.
Comprised of basically only dialogue, the story forces its audience to deduce themes from
microscopic shifts in the conversation between the girl and the American . Through this meticulous
diction, as well as through the use of powerful symbolism, Hills Like White Elephants encapsulates a
recurring theme in Hemingway s works: the superiority of men due to the emotional and dependent
nature of women. Following a short introduction that establishes the scene in Spain, the story opens
with two main characters in a bar. Hemingway describes the surrounding landscape as long and white
with no shade and no trees (1). After ordering drinks, the female character looks off into this brown
and dry terrain and notes that the contrastingly pale hills look like white elephants (1). The man
quickly responds I ve never seen one, to which she answers No, you wouldn t have (1). From this
exchange, it can be inferred that the white hills represent something beyond face value, something that
only the woman can understand and interpret. As the story progresses, their conversation begins to
revolve around an operation (3), and suddenly a possible symbolism of the hills appears: the
representation of the emotional and physicals repercussions of abortion. The hills convey the fear that
women have following the procedure about infertility, death, and loss. These hills are so important,

Analysis Of Breaking The Fourth Wall
The next part of analysis is breaking of the fourth wall. The Office uses this technique often. One of
the ways a character can break the fourth wall is by using it as an introduction. In the first episode of
The Office each character went into an interview and it previewed what their character would be like (
Pilot ). Another way of using this technique is to share their thoughts and emotions. Jim would explain
how he has feelings for Pam, but unfortunately she was engaged to someone else ( Gay Witch Hunt ).
Nonverbal expression was a technique Jim used a lot in the show. When he worked at the Stamford
branch, the office workers there made fun of Jim for always smiling and looking into the camera ( Gay
Witch Hunt ). The Office had a creative take on this technique. In the last episode, the show hosted a
questionnaire for fans to come in ask them whatever they wanted ( Finale ). This is unique for
situation comedies because it blurs the lines of the fourth wall.
Part of the reason fans love The Office is because of the relatable or unique characters. Michael Scott
is the regional manager and he can tend to be ignorant, but he still tries to connect with his employees.
In the first episode ever, the viewer gets a taste of these qualities. Michael says he is the best boss ever
and even bought a mug for himself that says best boss ever ( Pilot ). In season five, Michael is on
Skype with Pam, who was the old receptionist, and shows her the new receptionist and

The Role Of Schizophrenia In Shakespeare s Hamlet
My greatest fear is this brain of mine..The worst thing imaginable is to be terrified of one s own mind,
the very matter that controls all that we are and all that we do and feel (Torrey). E. Fuller Torrey, M.D
wrote a book to help the parents and families of people who suffer from schizophrenia disorders and
those alike. According to many doctors who are specialist like Torrey, schizophrenia disorders are held
on a spectrum and hold different subtypes of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia can take control over a
person s life and mind in some of the worst ways possible. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Hamlet s biggest
adversity is his own mind. Hamlet shows symptoms of Schizoaffective disorder, a subtype of
schizophrenia that causes delusions and severe depression. Hamlet shows symptoms of
schizoaffective disorder through his delusions of conversations with his dead father and his severe
depression over his father s death and mother s remarriage throughout the play.

symptoms of schizophrenia somewhere between the ages of 15 and 25 years old (SchizLife). Hamlet s

The Catholic Church in Developing the Identity of The...
The Republic of Ireland cannot be adequately examined without including the large role played by the
Catholic Church in political development and policy making. The Catholic Church has validated itself
as an influential institution since the Norman invasion of Ireland in 1169. The original intent of the
invasion served to spread the papacy, and with Ireland, the Church would come to achieve arguably
the most Catholic country to exist in the world. The Republic of Ireland evolved through many
centuries in order to achieve a true Irish State. The Anglo Irish War proved significant in achieving the
latter goal by ridding the southern sector of Ireland from the centuries of grueling oppressive rule and
discrimination under Great Britain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

seats in the Westminster Parliament (Gray, 2008). This organization in turn created an illegal Irish
Parliament, the Dail Elreann, whom declared war on Britain that initiated the Anglo Irish War. The
Irish Republic Army maintained two clear goals they were looking to achieve from the onset of the
war. The provisional government desired a complete separation from British rule in addition to
creating an Irish Republic free of any other influence (Gray, 2008, p. 376). The war illustrates the birth
of modern guerilla war[fare] which in the end arguably produced survivors in place of winners (Gray,
2008, p. 371). Although the war ends diplomatically in favor of the Irish provisional government, the
newly established Ireland lacked unity primarily due to arguments over the treaty they reluctantly
signed. The continuous strive for religious freedom and ultimate desire for a united Irish state, while
an ideological goal, proved contradicting. Since the Northern counties of the Irish territory were
primarily protestant and heavily influenced by the Church of England it proposed a problem of true
unity, since the Southern counties of Ireland were overwhelmingly traditional Catholics. Evidence
exists for both religious freedom and Irish

Education In The 1700 s Essay
Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina Supreme Court Justice in American History once said, Until we get
equality in education, we won t have an equal society. (1) Since it s birth, our great nation has
undergone positive change that shapes the world we live in today, and we have public education to
thank for that. Many progressive movements began with our children and their educational rights,
before branching out to the rest of America s citizens. This can be seen throughout each century.
During the 1700 s, education was finally brought to the forefront of American states, creating a basic

Before 1785, schooling in America had no regulation or centralization. There weren t many schools,
and the schools that did exist were typically required families to pay a large fee. Most kids who were
educated, if they were educated at all, did so through apprenticeships. (2) Eventually, Congress
decided to set a common guideline among the states through the Land Ordinance of 1785 and the
Northwest Ordinance of 1787. These two ordinances required that towns have specific land set aside
for public education, making schooling much more accessible for children everywhere and
establishing a basic standard for the states. (Book page 136) Around this time, a man named Noah
Webster created a textbook that would become a new standard for American language in elementary
schools across the states: the American Spelling Book. This book became the most commonly used
textbook in elementary schools, setting a common level of knowledge that most young students
throughout each state would learn. (Book 125) Without the American Spelling Book, the Land
Ordinance of 1785, and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, a whole new civilization in which a

My Job Outlook Of Physical Therapy Field Essay
With the job outlook of the physical therapy field being expected to grow by 34 percent by 2024,
faster than the average occupation, the average annual wage at a whopping $84,020, paid sick and
vacation days and the flexible work environment, this seems like the perfect profession to enter.
Having a career in physical therapy can be very rewarding because a physical therapist gets to watch
as his or her patients improve every appointment through treatment. Unfortunately, this is not always
the case in this profession. There are many disadvantages, and knowing these will help anyone
interested in this field have a better understanding of how tough pursuing a career in this field can be.
Being a physical therapist can be a rewarding experience and have amazing benefits. However, it is
important to be aware of the disadvantages: the extreme amount of education, physical demands,
emotional demands and the continuation of education requirements. Physical therapists are required to
complete at least six years or higher of education before work begins. This means that a master s
degree or a bachelor s degree must be achieved. Only a few colleges or universities offer master s
programs, therefore a student must enter a doctoral program to attain this profession. Acquiring a
Doctor of Physical Therapy degree requires three years of education only after receiving a bachelor s
degree. Most students join residency programs that can last anywhere from nine months to three years

Persuasive Essay On The Lorax
If things keep going the way they are humans will inevitably destroy the ocean and in doing so destroy
themselves. There need to be more Loraxes. We the people need to work together to minimize and
ultimately stop the production and use of plastics. Driving down the highway, or the gravel road it
doesn t matter I look on either side of the road and what do I see; plastic debris and trash. Someone
had to have thrown it there or maybe it blew out of the back of a trash truck going by but regardless
there it sits until someone picks it up or an animal mistakes it for a meal or a home. When Dr. Suess
wrote The Lorax it was in response to deforestation if he were alive today I think he would make
another version of the Lorax however this time it would be about polluting the ocean. Riding in the
with my cousin once I watched him throw a can out of the window. I can remember getting mad at
him and asking him what he was doing and all he said was, someone else will pick it up, it s not like it
is a big deal. Well at the time I let it go and thought nothing more of it. Time continued on and when I
was in sixth grade my mom and I went to Florida as your driving on a dirt road, how about that drive
through meal bag that your spouse can t know about because you and your supposed to be eating
healthy? Or watched someone else throw that spit bottle out the window? Believe it or not things like
these examples have an impact on the world. We ve all heard the reduce, reuse, recycle but why are
people so adamant about it? Perfect examples of reasons why people do this can be seen in the ocean
ecosystems. More and more of our wastes are ending up in the ocean and harming the animals living
there. Innocent animals that just want to survive and thrive aren t getting the opportunity to try
because of trash and litter that floats and sinks in the ocean. This litter that ends up in the ocean is
consumed by many animals. There are about seven different kinds of sea turtles and the world wild
life organization is working on conservation on five of them. What s happening to all of these turtles?
Due to debris in the ocean the turtle are getting tangled in the six ring bottle or can holders and getting

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Essay
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Queen, usually known as the Evil Queen or the Wicked
Queen, is the villain in the 1937 Disney animated film. This version of the character was sometimes
referred to as Queen Grimhilde in Disney publications of the 1930s, and was originally voiced by
Lucille La Verne. In the versions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that have been sanitized for
children, the action of the poem usually seems to concentrate on the possibility of violence aimed at
the innocent young. In those stories, although the reader assumes the queen to be motivated by her
envy of Snow White s youth and beauty, her motives seem to be subsidiary to the theme of violence
itself. In Sexton s version, the queen s pride, which pumped in her like a poison, is diagnosed directly
as motivation. Indeed, Sexton says that before the mirror labels Snow White as the most beautiful
woman in the land, the girl has been no more important to the queen than a dust mouse under the bed.
The mirror s announcement makes the queen suddenly aware of encroaching age and makes her
determined to kill Snow White. At the end, the queen is punished for her pride by dancing to death in
the red hot shoes.
Sexton goes beyond simply making the queen a villain, however. In the poem s second verse
paragraph, Sexton uses the second person you to suggest to the reader that everyone is subject to the
corrupting effects of pride and may be subject to its rewards.

Luncheon Grass
This paper will be a visual description of Luncheon on the Grass (Musée d Orsay), an oil painting
made by a leading French artist in the transition from realism to impressionism Édouard Manet, in
1863. A horizontal composition of 208 cm x 264.5 cm, the painting represents a luncheon in the forest.
In the foreground of the painting there are two men and a woman having lunch. While they are
casually having lunch, the two men are fully dressed, while the woman is fully naked, however, her
hand rests on her leg, hiding her pubic area. She is wearing an orchid in her hair, a bracelet, a ribbon

In the foreground, in front of them, there are the woman s clothes, a basket of fruit, and a round loaf of
bread. In the background, there is another woman barely dressed in a white dress who is bathing in a
stream. She is too large compared to the rest of the people in the scene which makes her look like she
s floating above them. There is a small boat farther on her right. The luncheon takes place in nature
where the figures are surrounded by trees and grass, however, the roughly painted background lacks
depth and the perspective is ignored giving the viewer the impression that the scene is more suggested
than painted and that it does not take place in an outdoor, but in a studio. This impression is reinforced
by an unrefined light that casts no shadows. Nevertheless, flat application of color, and lack of subtle
gradation are obvious in the painting. Manet did not hide the brushstrokes on purpose, there are even
some parts that look unfinished. Moreover, although there are some elements of fore shortening in the
painting, they are still misplaced. All of this adds together to make the viewer feel that the painting is

How Did Donatello Influence The Italian Renaissance
The Italian Renaissance was a marvelous time period. During this time, many new artists emerged.
The Florentine sculptor named Donatello was a marvelous sculptor to walk planet earth. Through the
sculptural advancements in the use of human anatomy, Donatello created the sculptural influence
during the Renaissance. Many would say that Donatello was unquestionably one of the key figures in
Italian Renaissance history. Donatello significantly reinvented the meaning of sculpture during his the
Italian Renaissance. These influences were carried on through the generations and are still seen in
many sculptures created today. In lesser detail, the way Donatello used human anatomy, perspective,
and realism in his work was like no other at the time, Donatello worked with a variety of materials,

attention to human realism and human anatomy when creating a sculptor is important because it
creates a fine aspect of the art. To this day, many people look up to Donatello s style of techniques and
use his techniques because Donatello s techniques were simply unheard of and so new and original

Taking a Look at the Watergate Scandal
The late 1960s to the mid 1970s was characterized by political controversy and instability. The
Watergate crisis is the most infamous scandal that occurred within those years, and arguably, in
American political history. The event occurred in 1972 and it redefined American political culture.
Nixon s involvement in the incident (and other controversies leading up to Watergate) led to a loss of
faith in government and a transition to the public s reliance on the media. However, Watergate s long
term positive effects negate its obviously negative reputation. The scandal transformed the ethical
environment of politics by yielding a series of progressive changes to government administration.
These alterations include the Freedom of Information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

men were arrested early that morning. They were found in possession of electronic equipment
designed for communication and surveillance. When discovered, they were also carrying cash and
wearing surgical gloves. These men intended to obtain sensitive information and photograph
important documents. Soon following the first arrest, two more men were arrested with direct links to
break in at the democratic national convention. The break in was initially labelled as a third rate
burglary by the White House Press, and the 1972 election passed seamlessly, results uninfluenced by
the event. In fact, Nixon was re elected with the largest popular vote landslide in history. However, as
the trial of the Watergate burglary progressed, it soon became evident that the event originated within
the White House. One of the men, James McCord was a retired CIA agent, and another, E. Howard
Hunt, was a former CIA operative and consultant to the Nixon White House. Another man identified
as G. Gordon Liddy, the general counsel to Nixon s Committee to Re elect the President. Several
months after the incident, Nixon was ordered by the U.S. Supreme Court to hand over the tapes which

Character Analysis Of Mary Warren In The Crucible
There Once Was a Mouse The Salem Witch Trials: a time where the innocent were guilty and the
guilty got away with murder. This horrendous event can be further explained through Arthur Miller s
play, The Crucible. Miller has won many awards in his time for writing many dramas that are very
popular amongst the people and The Crucible just so happens to be one of them. It tells a story about a
harsh time that many people faced when they were losing loved ones who were found guilty since
they didn t confess to a crime that they never committed. While reading the play, a person will find a
theme of power. One specific character, Mary Warren, helps show this theme because as soon as she
gains power, her character changes drastically. Throughout The Crucible, Mary Warren is portrayed as
a very dynamic character since she begins as being very wimpy, then she gains confidence and
becomes brave, and then she goes right back to being timid and controlled by Abigail. In the
beginning of the play, Mary Warren s character is well known as being wimpy and afraid. She is under
Abigail s control and will do everything she says. According to Sara Constantakis in Literature
Resource Center, she is weak and easily influenced. She is one of the girls who took part in the
voodoo ritual and is terrified when the talk of witchcraft begins, as she knows people who are
convicted of being witches are hanged. This opinion of Mary is further proven by her action of not
telling the truth about what happened in the woods because she knows Abigail would kill her. Abigail
even screams I say shut it, Mary Warren! (Miller, Act I). Mary is always listening to Abigail s
demands, even when she knows the right thing to do. Mary Warren is seen as a poor little mouse who
is too quiet to ever stand up for herself. In addition to this, Mary wants to confess about what
happened in the woods, but Abigail won t let her. Mary cries, Abby, we ve got to tell. Witchery s a
hangin error, a hangin like they done in Boston two year ago! We must tell the truth, Abby! You ll only
be whipped for dancin , and the other things! (Miller, Act I). Mary knows she is innocent and for that
reason, she is ready to own up to her sins, however Abby knows that she

America s Rapid Industrialization During The Progressive Era
As America entered the 20th century, the country entered a time period known as the Progressive Era.
This era was one defined by political reform and social activism as well as myriad of problems arising
from America s rapid industrialization. During the Progressive era, America faced several
international, political, and social challenges that would set us on the road to the society in which we
now live. During the Depression of the 1890s, the National Association of Manufacturers argued that
the American economy could only expand with new foreign markets. They wanted President William
McKinley to bring American to every corner of the globe. Later on, there was a reemergence of Cuban
independence movement from Spain. President ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, over time government corruption became common. Reformers like Teddy Roosevelt in
Washington and Governor Hiram Johnson in California responded to an epidemic of political and
civic corruption by expanding the role of government in regulating the economy and in giving
citizens, for the first time, direct access to the legislative process. The federal income tax and the
direct election of senators, for example, were a part of the Populist program, and Prohibition grew
from a pre‐Civil War anti‐alcohol reform tradition. In addition, muckrakers, reform minded American
journalist who targeted corruption, made Americans aware of the serious failings in society and built
public support for change. Exposés such as Lincoln Steffens The Shame of the Cities (1904), an attack
on municipal corruption, and Ida Tarbell s History of the Standard Oil Company (1904), which
chronicled John D. Rockefeller s ruthless business practices, often first appeared in the new mass
circulation magazines, such as McClure s and Cosmopolitan, and were later published as books. The
muckrakers impact could be powerful, as in the case of Upton Sinclair s The Jungle (1906), a book
whose vivid descriptions of working and sanitary conditions in Chicago s meatpacking plants led
directly to federal laws regulating the industry. Other political reforms included the direct primary a

Analysis Of Ransom Of Red Chief By O Henry
In the Ransom of Red Chief by O. Henry the two main characters, Bill and Sam, plan on kidnapping a
kid in hopes of getting some money out of the ransom. Bill and Sam kidnap Ebenezer Dorset s boy,
Johnny, because they know that Dorset has a lot of money. The one thing they didn t know was how
annoying Johnny really was. A lesson that this story shows is that plans can change.
Towards the beginning of the story the plan already starts to change. This happens when they kidnap
Johnny. Bill tries to bribe him with candy as a way to get him into the van. This doesn t go as planned.
The story says The boy catches Bill neatly in the eye with a piece of brick... That boy put up a fight
like a welterweight cinnamon bear; but, at last, we got him down in the bottom of the buggy and drove
away. This shows that even before much begins to happen plans aren t going as Bill and Sam thought
they would. After that, they take him to the cave, where they plan to keep Johnny, and the boy and Bill
play Indian. Johnny didn t even complain about wanting to go home like Sam thought he would. After

Edwards amp; Wajcman (2005) describe globalization to be a process of increasing economic
integration of national economic systems. This has benefited and negatively impacted the UK
economy. World Bank figures report globalized economies benefit from higher GDP. On the other
hand, the connectedness of the UK economy puts it as risk. The first global economic crisis was
triggered by the Yom Kippur War, followed by the collapse of the Japanese economy and dot com
bubble burst led to a global recession (Robinson 2006). These events were later dwarfed by the global
financial crisis in 2008, from which the UK economy is still struggling to recover.

policies and practices of HR departments
Labour Market: Kew amp; Stredwick (2010) note a feminisation of the workplace with female
participation rates increasing from 33 % in 1951 to 70 % in 2008. Giddens (2006) attributes this to
three key reasons; changes to family life, financial pressures and personal fulfillment.
Demographic changes have also resulted in an ageing population coupled with a reduction in UK birth
rates. (Chamerlin 2011) The resulting gaps in employment have been filled by migrant workers, due to
the improved mobility of labour afforded by Britain s membership to the EU and globalisation.

Literary Devices In Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Winds, snow, and darkness oh my! A traveler and his noble steed find themselves on a quest deep in
the woods on the darkest snow filled night and thus stopping to take it all in. An analysis on the Poem
by Robert Frost, called Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . What was the desire of the
exhausted traveler to stop and appreciate the woods that seemed so irresistible? Although his horse
questions his judgment, and the traveler s hidden promise to keep at the end of his destination, he
stops to take in the scenery. With the output given the traveler s journey is not over when stated that he
has miles to go before he sleeps even though he s tired he takes this moment to reboot his energy in
the night air, making his quest about the journey and then about his previous engagement. The rest of
this essay will express the literary devices and themes featured in this poem.
This poem grabbed my attention because I was engaged while reading it the whole time, with the
imagery helping to make a perfect scene in my head. Every line gave another piece to the overall
scene and perspective. Each time I have re read this poem I find something different and a new
meaning to each line or a new literary device used. While reading how dark, cold and big the woods
are I never felt like they were dangerous, maybe a little foreboding at times, but instead the feeling of
the traveler and his horse were welcomed there by the similarities to the place and that the blanket of

Index Fossils Research Paper
Index fossils are fossils used to define and identify geologic patterns. They work on the premise that,
although different sediments may look different depending on the conditions under which they were
laid down. They may include the remains of the same species of fossils. If the concerned species was
short lived (only lasting a few hundred thousand years) then it is certain that the sediments were
deposited within that narrow time period. The shorter the lifespan of the species, the more precisely
different sediments can be correlated, and so rapidly evolving types of fossils are particularly valuable.
The best index fossils have 4 characteristics: they are unique, prevalent, plentiful, and restricted in

Agile Methodology is an approach to project management that for the most part is used with software
development. Agile Methodology is a very important part of software development. Throughout this
paper I intend to discuss what the movement toward agility means for the future of systems analysis
and design (Hoffer, George, amp; Valacich, 2011). In the year of 2001 many proponents met in Utah
and came to discuss and agree on underlying principles (Hoffer, George, amp; Valacich, 2011).

The last thing to discuss a focus on self adaptive processes which means that over time software

versions (Lin, 2011). This makes me think of program Windows the newer version are a little bit
trickier that the later version but are made to make things easier and run smoother for the consumer. In
conclusion to this paper I have found that the Agile Manifesto is a great approach to use when it
comes to understanding Agile and was that it can better our future. The three principals can be viewed
as 1) prediction do not always come out to expectations but learn to adapt to the outcome,2) find
people with the skills needed to accomplish the goal but that can also work as a team and 3) figure a
way to adapt to new and refine way of things. I know that the principals that have been established are
not only great tools to help build, maintain and move software but are great steps to use when really
working with any type of project.

Select One Of The Three Characteristics Of Information...
1. Select one of the three characteristics of information security (CIA) and explain its importance as
related to the development of policy, education, OR technology.
Confidentiality is one of the three characteristics of the C.I.A. model. It establishes those with
sufficient privileges and the need to access the information. Confidentiality is most related to
information privacy. It is extremely important to protect the information of employees, customers, or
patients. No matter what type of organization it is it will disclose confidential information. That being
said, all confidential information is vulnerable to accidental exposure or an intentional hack. If an
unauthorized individual or system views the information, confidentiality is breached. Confidentiality
contains several measures that are applied to protect the confidentiality of information. These
measures include information classification, sure document and data storage, application of general
security policies, education of information custodians and end users.
Confidentiality must be met in the storage, processing, and transmission of data in an organization.
For example, we are going to look at a major recent data breach. On March 8, 2017, the US
department of homeland security sent Equifax and notice to patch a vulnerability in versions of the
Apache Struts software. On March 9, Equifax dispersed the information to applicable personnel.

Religion At The University Of Dayton
As a private, religious institution, the University of Dayton requires students to obtain an education
that includes religion courses. This can be seen as advantageous in the eyes of society, further
preparing young adults for the future. The academic study of religion at the University of Dayton is
beneficial to American society because it educates, enlightens, emphasizes the university s mission,
and aids students in their future endeavors.
Because of the diversity amongst the university s student population, some of the information obtained

It discusses these religions from a historical viewpoint, such as the major turning point [in] 1492 with
the expulsion of Jews from Christian Spain (Greenstein et al. 3) for Judaism and for Islam, when a

My Christian Faith Research Paper
Everyone has their time in life when God tests the strength of their faith. These tests can cause you to
break down, and they can torture you mentally. Most of the time, these tests are really big. For
example, if someone you love gets sick and you want to help, but there is nothing that you can do.
This is what happened to me, and it came to me through my mom suffering from a large brain tumor.
Through my mother s hardship and my reliance on my Christian faith, I learned important lessons
such as, self control, putting all faith in God, and the importance of loving others for who they are. I
learned a very influential lesson about self control during this. In May 2016, my mom was diagnosed
with a large meningioma covering most of the left side of her brain. The tumor had been growing

Essay on A Discourse of Remours for the Amorous
The great playwright Christopher Marlowe also wrote one of the most famous lyrical poems in British
literature, The Passionate Shepherd to His Love. In this pastoral portrait, Marlowe reveals the
shepherd s desire for a certain young lady to be his love. In The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd, Sir
Walter Raleigh voices the young lady s answer to this invitation. The two poems share the identical
structures of rhyme scheme and meter. Also, the speakers share a similar desire for youthful love.
However, these similarities are overshadowed by the differences in the author s backgrounds which, in
turn, influence the starkly different characteristics of the speakers of the poems their view of reality
and their motive for love.

The few similarities in these two poems, however, are far overshadowed by the differences that exist.
When analyzing these differences, it is helpful to first examine the contrasts in the lives of the authors.
Christopher Marlowe was born into a lower class family, but his education enabled him to work for a
theatre company in London. From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest
of his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept. On the night of his
death, he was with three friends a moneylender, a con artist, and a spy for the Queen s secret service.
The four of them were eating and got into an argument which ended with Marlowe being stabbed and
killed. Sir Walter Raleigh lived a quite different lifestyle. He was an explorer who led an exhibition to
the fabled City of Gold. He also founded several colonies and named the territory of Virginia. This
was done in honor of the virgin queen , Elizabeth I. This was no surprise because Raleigh was a
favored suitor of the Queen. She gave Raleigh the honorary title Sir and lavished him with money and
land. However, the Queen discovered that Raleigh was, in fact, not interested in her, but was instead
interested in a lady named Bess Thockmorton. Because of this, the Queen promptly had Raleigh
imprisoned in the Tower of London for thirteen years. His great

Summary Of Samuel Delany s Racism And Science Fiction
As a black man, Samuel Delany has experienced discrimination and racism in a number of settings.
However, as a Science Fiction writer he mostly explores racism in that community. Samuel Delany s,
Racism and Science Fiction explores how Racism is a system. As such, it is fueled as much by chance
as by hostile intentions and equally the best intentions as well. It is whatever systematically acclimates
people, of all colors, to become comfortable with the isolation and segregation of the races, on a
visual, social, or economic level (31). Delany blames social traditions, and material and economic
conditions for supporting the system. And not actual individuals. Delany supports his argument by
giving three examples of when he has experienced racism in science fiction. The issue of racism in
science fiction is presented by Delany when he tells his readers of an encounter with Isaac Asimov, his
convention book signing partner, and his habitual panel placement with a fellow writer. While Delany
was walking back to his seat after winning an award for Aye, and Gomorrrah fellow writer Isaac
Asimov pulled him aside and jokingly said, You know, Chip, we only voted you those awards because
you re negro (18). Delany, although realizing that Asimov was using satire to say that the color of his
skin had no part in the voting decision. Realized that unintentionally or not, Asimov was saying that
no matter Delany s achievements he will always be Negro . This fits in to Delany s explanation of
what systematic racism does, it acclimates people of color to be comfortable with the isolation of
races. Because Delany is a black writer he will foremost be know as a black writer before anything
else, and will always be grouped in that category. This well intentioned joke fuels the system that is
racism.
As mentioned before. Systematic racism can also be fueled by chance. During a convention where
writers were grouped together for book signing. Nalo Hopkinson and Delany, the only two black
writers attending the convention, were sat together. Delany s friend was in charge of the book signing
scheduling and said that they were sat by a program and, Well, certainly there s nothing wrong with

The Reality of Corrupt Power Hungry Men in the Film Chinatown
Roman Polanski s Hollywood film Chinatown, directed in 1974, tells the story of Jake Gittes, a private
investigator. The film focuses in on the dark reality of corruption behind power hungry men, making
this a true neo noir film. Chinatown reveals a depth narrative allowing the viewer to follow Gittes and
uncover the secrets around the water dispute in California. I chose to bring focus to the significance of
the male gaze and how this form of power can change and affect our views. The prominent female
character in the film, Evelyn Mulwray, is a wealthy white woman. With her character comes active
male attention and desire. Laura Mulvey s Theory of The Gaze supports this argument by studying the
power and influence of a patriarchal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like anything we can take this too far where the gaze becomes an obsession, particularly towards the
female turning it into a sexual gaze. Therefore the male is the viewer and holds the power, he is what
Mulvey states as being the active male while the female is then passive (1975). If the female becomes
a passive character is she then needed for the development of the story? I do not think so, if we give
her this position in the film she is not a valuable part of the narrative. The other way to view this gaze
would be with cruelty towards the female character. The man is still in a position of control but in a
victorious way. This may mean he treats her poorly. In the first scene I had mentioned earlier Evelyn is
just meeting Jake for the first time. He is in his office with his male associates, which I may point out
are all white men. Jake is telling a dirty joke about a man screwing his wife like the Chinese. When
Jake turns to see Evelyn standing behind him all along both him and his co workers stop with all
seriousness in her presence. They have changed their demeanour completely because there is a woman
in the room. This seemed to put a freeze in time as what was just happening in the office came to an
abrupt stop as she enters the room. Mulvey (1975) states in her essay, her visual presence tends to
work against the development of a story line (p. 19). This means the men are holding the story line
together with the added image

Dual Language Learners
Writing instruction has become one of the most important issues in educational practices. According
to the United States Immigration Policy (2012) based on data from the Census Bureau, there has been
a significant rise of Immigration into the United States, since the 1940 s from less than 1 million to 10
million in 2010. A large increase in immigrants into the United States has increased the demand for
English language instruction significantly (Mei Lin, 2015). With this in mind the educational practices
taking place in today s schools become a center of focus, what should be taught in the classroom and
what programs can give the best outcome. Substantial evidence exists to support dual language (DL)

harm, stable home environment, access to good nutrition, responsive caregiving, quality health care
provided, stimulating/enriching environment, and opportunity for play and exploration. By focusing
on nurturing care is to support the brain s response to early experiences in early childhood that will
benefit acquisition of languages, cognitive skills, and socio emotional competencies (Britto et al.,
2017).
In addition, supportive nurturing in early childhood development (ECD) can have lifelong benefits
such as better learning capacity, greater opportunities for achievements, more involvement in
community affairs and becoming a productive member of society. Nurturing care also diminishes the
adverse effect of being in lower socioeconomic status on brain development (Black et al., 2017). ...

Using a systems model, ECD can be split into personal resources and structural resources. Both are
integral to the positive development in early childhood by providing an enabling environment. For
personal resources, these include caregiver (E.g. maternal health and education), family and
community (E.g. safety, sanitation, and absence of stigma), while structural resources are the social,
economic, political, climatic, and cultural aspects. The structural forces of laws, policies, financial
stability, supportive organizations as well as conflict originators such as war, environmental disasters,
and cultural changes can all influence

The Day Of The World Country
Living in a 1st world country we never really think outside our borders, we mainly only realize our
problems in our country. Which could be anything from not being able to eat tomorrow to my parents
won t buy me the latest iPhone . Each country has their poor and their wealthy. Sure, we see those
commercials of starving 3rd world country children, who have little to nothing and we feel horrible.
We hear about wars and see the horrible tragedies they face but we will never fully understand the
horror or devastation they ve lived through until we walk in their shoes. We always find the things we
see on the news appalling, but truth is most of us won t do anything. After Paul thanks Jack, a
photographer he replies I think if people see this footage they ll say, oh my God that s horrible, and
then go on eating their dinners (Hotel Rwanda). It doesn t mean we are bad people, we all have our
own struggles and strife. We are all human, and to be human means different things to different
people. I believe that this film showed both sides of the human condition, one being a genuinely
decent human and the other showing people striped of all right or wrong conciseness. You would
always think why don t people stop this kind of brutality? and why don t they have a sense of wrong?!
The Hutu s may have had parents or guardians who installed in them that sense of hate, or someone
had a way with words and persuaded them that the Tutsi s were their rivals. Just like Hitler

Life Cycle Segmentation Of Swatch
Segmentation
There are companies that base their segmentation on specific countries, or regions, however, the other
type of companies mostly focus on life cycle segmentation. Swatch do not focus on regional
segmentation because consumer of Swatch products can be anywhere in the world.
Swatch concentrates on life cycle and age segments. They believe that model and design, technology,

by Swatch line, which is designed by artists, especially street painters for teenagers. At the same time
they have Full Blooded collection, which consists of more classic watches mostly designed for adults.
Further, Swatch produces special products for special occasions like: Valentine Day, Mothers Day, and

Hayek offered something different since beginning. To understand clearly what do these words mean
we have to go through marketing mix strategy of Swatch Group. But, before to start the analysis of
marketing mix strategy, let s explore what is the mission, objective and target market of Swatch. The
mission of the Swatch is to produce high quality products, and for production to use mostly low cost
materials such as synthetic material. In order to become successful in business especially in global
business, every MNC should decide its objective for appropriate achievements. The objective of
Swatch is to establish the most stylish, innovative, and creative, at the same time affordable
watchmaker brand image in the world. As an objective and mission each global company has to decide
its target market to avoid reduction in sales and improve specialization. The target market of Swatch
are people between 15 34 years old. That can be shown as a reason of producing fashionable, creative,
and innovative watches and

Blake Mycoskie s The Amazing Race
The Amazing Race is a popular show where pairs of family members or friends race around the world
to compete for a million dollars. Blake Mycoskie along with his sister were one of the lucky pairs that
were chosen to complete challenges in over thirteen different cities every day for three weeks. Blake
started off on the show to compete for the million dollar prize, but that is not what ended up
happening. Blake and his sister lost the million dollars; however, Blake found something worth more
than anything money can buy. Giving back to those who are less fortunate. Blake never had time to
stop and take in every little detail that was happening around him, so Blake and his sister decided to
return to Argentina after the show. When competing

The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban
1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or more
precisely, a ban on large size sugary drinks ? After all, people can still get as much soda as they want.
This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is this such a big
deal?
1 soda ban
In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume.
The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law.
2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be
stopped from doing foolish stuff, and this has become, in contemporary American politics, highly
controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. (Large cups of soda as symbols of human
dignity? Really?) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s this common desire to be left alone that prompted the Mississippi Legislature earlier this month to
pass a ban on bans a law that forbids municipalities to place local restrictions on food or drink.
4 We have a vision of ourselves as free, rational beings who are totally capable of making all the
decisions we need to in order to create a good life. Give us complete liberty, and, barring natural
disasters, we ll end up where we want to be. It s a nice vision, one that makes us feel proud of
ourselves. But it s false.
5John Stuart Mill2 wrote in 1859 that the only justifiable reason for interfering in someone s freedom
of action was to prevent harm to others. According to Mill s harm principle, we should almost never
stop people from behavior that affects only themselves, because people know best what they

The Lucid Dreaming And How Can It Be A Method Of...
Introduction
Those who experience lucid dreaming in the stage of REM sleep are aware of their dreams and able to
control their dreams. Lucid dreaming could be a possible treatment for those with post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) who suffer from nightmares. During lucid dreaming in a nightmare, the PTSD
patients would be able to let go of their fear by recognizing the threats they have in their dreams are
not real. PTSD patients can also transform their dreams into something more pleasant or try to wake
up from their sleep. A case study proved this idea to be true; the reoccurring dreams the patients would
experience were going away after they were introduced into lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming could be
difficult to accomplish, but there are several techniques that can trigger lucid dreaming. For a period
of time, researchers have been pondering and searching for ways to help those who suffers from post
traumatic stress disorder. This topic is interesting to investigate lucid dreaming and how can it be a
method of psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder. During this research, online, primary, and
book resources were used. Therefore, this essay will deal with the following research question: How
can lucid dreaming be used as a method of psychotherapy in those who suffer from post traumatic
stress disorder?
What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?

King Lear Act 1 Scene Essay
King Lear Act 1 Scene
What impact did Act 1 Scene 1 of King Lear have on you?
The first scene of the first act of King Lear had a genuinely dramatic affect upon me.
This first glimpse into the world of Lear and his subordinates sets the premise for the whole play,
unravelling within the first few pages, themes which I believe will become increasingly evident. The
scene opens with the introduction of three characters Kent, Gloucester and Edmund. Of these three
characters the only one who seems not to have been shown in an unfavourable light yet, by this brief
introduction, is Kent. This could be intentional to set It is made clear Edmund is a bastard, and
therefore illegible for proper acknowledgement as the son of an Earl. ... Show more content on

At this point of the scene it can be clearly noticed how similar Goneril and Regan are, as Regan asks
Lear to measure her worth as he measured Goneril s. This closeness seems symbolic in a way to the
close knit coven in Macbeth, as these women seem to have underlying deceptive qualities. Before
considering Cordelia s answer to Lear, we must note her comments made during Goneril and Regan s
speeches . This is keen use of the aside speech by Shakespeare as the audience would be able to hear
Cordelia s confusion over what her response shall be and her truthful belief that her love is more
ponderous than her tongue. Her indecision over what to say to her father shows really how much she
does not want to offend him, but instead she does the opposite, as he cannot see beyond his pride, to
her loyal words.
When she says Nothing , she is indicating to him that he should no the worth of her love for him. The
king, shocked with this appearance of ingratitude in his favourite child, desired her to consider her
words, and to mend her speech, lest it should mar her fortunes. Cordelia then tells Lear that she loves
him according to her station, and as much as he loves her as his daughter. She is as she says
young...and true . Lear is obviously hurt but it seems, due to the severity of his actions, that his pride
and title have been harmed more. He disowns her and she becomes his sometime daughter . At this
point Kent intervenes on Cordelia s behalf

A Schizophrenic Mind By John Nash
A Schizophrenic Mind
Cody B. Helms
Fort Mill High School
A Schizophrenic Mind
In the movie, A Beautiful Mind, the main character John Nash, a genius mathematician, struggles with
the constant pressure he puts upon himself in regards to creating an original idea. This intense stress
and anxiety eventually develops into paranoid schizophrenia. Throughout the movie Nash and his
wife, Alicia, have to try and cope with his constant delusions. This movie, by going through the life of
John Nash, depicts his struggle with schizophrenia, the different treatments he has to endeavor, and his
development as a person which can be seen through Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
Once John arrives at Princeton he is still on the search for his original idea. The constant stress that he
brings upon himself in order to try and achieve his goal is starting to have negative effects on him.
This can be seen during the scene in which he meets his roommate Charles, who is a lackadaisical
character who doesn t have the same drive and passion as John does in regards to achieving greatness.
There is also another very important thing about Charles; he is not actually real. Another scene that is
relevant to this topic is the one where John Nash was in the courtyard at Princeton arguing in front of
everyone with Parcher in regards to his work for the government. However, just like Charles, Parcher
is not real and neither is Nash s job for the government, rather it

Analysis Of Gone With The Wind
Gone with the Wind is a 1939 movie directed by Victor Fleming and starring Clark Gable, Vivien
Leigh, and Olivia De Havilland. The film follows the life of Scarlett O Hara (Leigh), a young
Georgian woman, and her pursuits of romance and wealth during the Civil War and Reconstruction.
She faces the challenges of rebuilding her family s plantation and finding love while the man she
wants to pursue already married. This film falls into the genres of historical and romance. Historical
films are characterized simply by the fact that they are set in an earlier time period, usually one that is
far enough in the past that it can be distinguished from the time period the movie is produced in. Most
often, the era a historical film is set in is one that has a particular key event that sets the time period. In
the case of Gone with the Wind, the film is set around the Civil War, which holds a key part in much
of the plot and impacts the characters lives. Romance films have a plot that revolves around the
attraction between two main characters rather than having the romantic relationships be a subplot. The
typical romantic film tropes that can be found in Gone with the Wind are Scarlett s unrequited love,
bordering on obsession, for Ashley and her marriage to Rhett which was portrayed as if they were
both to find happiness with each other, but ultimately only found more conflict.
The historical aspects of this film revolves not only around the Civil War itself, but also the idealized

Bizarre Fruit
Bizarre Fruit
In the mid 1930 s, the south would perform, what they believed to be acts of justice by hanging, or
lynching, black men who were convicted of doing a crime. The Poem Strange Fruit is an interesting
poem depicts a very horrid image of pure racism in the south and how lynchings were such a
gruesome image, and was meant to be a protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair) . The poem
Strange Fruit was published in 1937 by Abel Meeropol after he viewed an image of a lynching that
occurred in the south. Meeropol was haunted by the image and was inspired to write and publish the
poem (Meeropol). Abel Meeropol was already against racism in America and when he saw the
appalling image of two African American people being lynched ... Show more content on

The elements of imagery are seen in the poem when Abel writes The bulgin eyes and the twisted
mouth (6). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they
were being hanged against their will. This depicts imagery because it gives a very detailed image in
the reader s mind of how they looked like as they were hanged. Personification is present in the poem
Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is
personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait
of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of
magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of
juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad
dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent.
Throughout the poem Strange Fruit Meeropol also uses metaphors, such as when he puts Southern
trees bear a strange fruit (1) in his poem. The entire poem itself is a metaphor because the poem
compares African Americans that have been lynched, and the strange fruit that hangs from trees. The
poem is comparing the strange fruit to it actually being the African Americans that were

  • 2. Marketing Strategy Of Apple Inc Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs founded Apple Inc. in 1976 (pg.248). The company launched by manufacturing computers. Due to the competitive market of PCs Apple Inc. then used other strategies to benefit the company s profit. Apple Inc. manufactured a variety of products such as Notebook computers, the PowerBooks, iPods and iPhones to name a few. With these products, Apple revolutionized the PC market. Although the success of the company was solely on the production of iPods and iPhones, the company was stationary as a PC manufacturer. Strategies used by Apple Inc. In order to develop a competitive advantage with rival PC manufacturers such as Dell, Microsoft, Toshiba, Acer, etc. Apple Inc. used a broad differentiation strategy. This ... The innovative technology had several mishaps, the company continued to create technology to fix errors and satisfy customer needs or complaints. Although Apple Inc. was faced with errors, they continued to profit seventy percent of the Market Place. S.W.O.T Analysis Strengths Steve Jobs developed Apple Inc. through his vision; he wanted Apple Inc. to stay ahead of the technology industry by developing new and innovative technology that no other PC manufacture had to offer the Market Place. When the company began offering smartphones and personal media players, this became a major strength for the company as it continued to grow. When looking at the root of the company as a personal computer industry, the development of the different types of PCs was a strength for the company as well, because it divided society into three groups and developed PCs that would benefit those pacific groups of individuals. An example of this would be the Mac Pro, the iMac, and the Mac mini. The Mac Pro aimed at professional and business users, the iMac targeted educational and business use, and the Mac mini was for consumer use (pg. 253). Weaknesses Although Apple Inc. has a variety of innovative products, the price of the products is a major weakness compared to other companies. Other rival companies develop products that began at low end to high end products compared to Apple Inc. Opportunities A great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her mother, Gladys Pearl Baker was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when Monroe was only seven years old. With an absent father and a mother who was often institutionalized, the young girl was left to fend for herself in the foster care system. The demons of her past would haunt her until she took her life in 1962, at the age of thirty six. Still, Marilyn Monroe goes down in history as one of the most influential females of her time. Her positive aura and smile charmed many people, and led her to the fame she has today. Despite all the odds, Marilyn Monroe was selfless and kind. . . and smart as well. • 4. The Handless Maiden Chapter Summary The Handless Maiden takes a look into a side of history less often seen. Usually it is said that the victor writes the history books and more often than not that is the perspective from which people view history. Perry shows the reader not just the losing side of the Morisco people, but the side of the women in that society who are usually seen by Western culture as having very little power or influence in their culture. The influence of those women had a great deal to do with why they held onto what made them a people. They were the predominant influence in their households that kept the family and cultural traditions alive. The key factor Perry uses to demonstrate this throughout the book is their stories and legends, particularly The Handless Maiden. Perry writes so that the entire focus of the book is on the Moriscos and keeps the European side of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The maiden in the story is cast out from her home because of her faith in Allah. That is something the Morisco people could relate to directly and in different ways depending on the time period. The maiden is found and rescued by a king and things look up for her. Unfortunately there were not many times where things looked up for these people. Perhaps during times of uprisings before they were defeated when they could do as they wished. She is then banished with her child to the wilderness. Banishment was not an unknown feeling for these people and mothers alone protecting their children would not be unheard of either. The last part of the story is what gave these people hope, and hope is a very strong thing. Without hope no one could ever get through the things that these people did. That is why this story and others like it were so important and that is what Perry was trying to show with all of the repetition of this story throughout the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The founder, George Draper Dayton formed the Dayton Dry Goods Company in 1902. Back in 1962, Target launched their first store in Roseville, Minnesota. Ultimately in the year 2000, Dayton Hudson store name was changed to Target. They have become the second largest retailer by sales and revenue based on the United States stores (Cite 1 Wikipedia). Similar to Walmart, Target has over a period of time received some criticism with community groups and the workers. Target has prospered and sustained diversity with employees of disparate age, style, race, and more. Lions, tigers and panthers are enjoyed in the Markell household, but unable to actually own one. For that reason, a pack of dogs roams the house for the protecting and guarding the precious family. When marketing brought in the official commissioner, Bullseye, the mascot for Target, This dog was spotted in many marketing campaigns. Another central reason to shop at Target is the simple layout of the store. The staff is snappier dressed and present patience with handling people. Usually there are Starbucks inside this store, although they are a bit on the pricy side. Another advantage is how Target believes in the community and touches many people s lives. • 6. Folk Hero Essay A Folk hero in China Folk hero is almost in every country, and the story of the hero is often gives some positive moral. Folk hero s stories are always popular at every age. However, the reason for me to choose this topic is I wrote the same topic in another class about two years ago. This time I also want to write this topic, but I have new ideas and new opinions during this two years. China has a history of more than 5000 years even if there are many dynasties of change. During this 5000 years there are lots of folk heroes appeared. Some of the heroes were deified gods, but most of them are real people. For these heroes, people usually added lots of character or power to them. Because the purpose of people is to spread these heroes stories and make people learn these heroes characters by this. The character likes brave, loyal, clever and honest. And the stories have the similar part with other countries folk hero which is the justice always prevail over evil. George R.R. Martin once said, Most have been forgotten. Most deserve to be forgotten. The heroes will always be remembered. The best. The best and the worst. And a few who were a bit of both. But lots of folk heroes are always popular. We should remember heroes, because their stories can teach us much things, these things are always very important for us. And there is a folk hero who I am really respects him in China history. His name is Guan Yu, because by his story I learned brave and loyal. Guan Yu is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If someone asks you these questions, how do you reply to them? You make the choice among many alternatives by basing your way because everyone holds unique traits and a unique personality. I also hold some traits that includes not only positive but also negative. As she named the title the House on Mango Street to the book, Esperanza s family, neighborhood and the place where she lives on show the most significant part of her identity. • 9. Female Heroines Of The Movie The Alien Films Traditional action films have positioned male heroes at the center of the narrative, with flat female characters often needing to be saved by the male lead. As women in the 1980s began seeking professional jobs and pursuing higher levels of education, gaining greater independence and in a sense challenging the patriarchal expectations of the time, films began to reflect this change. One of the genres in which this change became the most prevalent was the action film. Sarah Connors in the Terminator films and Ellen Ripley in the Alien films, serve as excellent examples. However, as female heroines become the focus of these narratives, their traditional feminine traits, such as emotional expressivity, tenderness, and passiveness, are replaced with attributes like strength and aggression typically associated with masculinity. Additionally, these female characters often turn to guns, a weapon traditionally used to symbolize masculinity. Within these films, the continued use of the phrase hard , in describing both the use of hardware and the heroines hard body, makes much more obvious the lack of soft , more innately feminine qualities (Brown 60). There exists disagreement as to whether these female characters serve to empower women in society or if their presentation is too masculine, thus presenting them as essentially men in female clothing. Although these heroines undoubtedly display traits more masculine than their female film predecessors, it can be argued that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Deat Death Research Paper God s original intent is that dominion be expressed through a relationship with God and others. It is not surprising that Satan, as part of his agenda to rob God of His glory, would do what he can to promote division within humanity. This division is seen all across humanity including the church. Conflict originated in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned. As stated earlier, Adam and Eve lived in perfect harmony with God and each other. Their relationship had great freedom. God s only stipulation was that they were not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God said if you eat of it, ...in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Gen. 2:17b). When they sinned against God by eating the fruit, death became a reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bible does not support this; rather it supports a definition of separation. The Kregel Dictionary of the Bible and Theology states, Scripture emphasizes that death is a separation rather than cessation, except that the physical body ceases to function until resurrected in a different form. Adam and Eve were separated from their relationship to God and paradise (Gen. 3:23 24). They died or were separated with respect to their covenant privileges and suffered the indictment and judgment of their Sovereign. Death as separation is also a physical separation between the body and spirit and soul (1 Cor. 15:21 22). Eternal death is an endless separation from the presence of God 1Cor. 6:9 10). • 11. Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemingway Hills Like White Elephants is the epitome of Ernest Hemingway s legendarily concise writing. Comprised of basically only dialogue, the story forces its audience to deduce themes from microscopic shifts in the conversation between the girl and the American . Through this meticulous diction, as well as through the use of powerful symbolism, Hills Like White Elephants encapsulates a recurring theme in Hemingway s works: the superiority of men due to the emotional and dependent nature of women. Following a short introduction that establishes the scene in Spain, the story opens with two main characters in a bar. Hemingway describes the surrounding landscape as long and white with no shade and no trees (1). After ordering drinks, the female character looks off into this brown and dry terrain and notes that the contrastingly pale hills look like white elephants (1). The man quickly responds I ve never seen one, to which she answers No, you wouldn t have (1). From this exchange, it can be inferred that the white hills represent something beyond face value, something that only the woman can understand and interpret. As the story progresses, their conversation begins to revolve around an operation (3), and suddenly a possible symbolism of the hills appears: the representation of the emotional and physicals repercussions of abortion. The hills convey the fear that women have following the procedure about infertility, death, and loss. These hills are so important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Analysis Of Breaking The Fourth Wall The next part of analysis is breaking of the fourth wall. The Office uses this technique often. One of the ways a character can break the fourth wall is by using it as an introduction. In the first episode of The Office each character went into an interview and it previewed what their character would be like ( Pilot ). Another way of using this technique is to share their thoughts and emotions. Jim would explain how he has feelings for Pam, but unfortunately she was engaged to someone else ( Gay Witch Hunt ). Nonverbal expression was a technique Jim used a lot in the show. When he worked at the Stamford branch, the office workers there made fun of Jim for always smiling and looking into the camera ( Gay Witch Hunt ). The Office had a creative take on this technique. In the last episode, the show hosted a questionnaire for fans to come in ask them whatever they wanted ( Finale ). This is unique for situation comedies because it blurs the lines of the fourth wall. Part of the reason fans love The Office is because of the relatable or unique characters. Michael Scott is the regional manager and he can tend to be ignorant, but he still tries to connect with his employees. In the first episode ever, the viewer gets a taste of these qualities. Michael says he is the best boss ever and even bought a mug for himself that says best boss ever ( Pilot ). The Role Of Schizophrenia In Shakespeare s Hamlet My greatest fear is this brain of mine..The worst thing imaginable is to be terrified of one s own mind, the very matter that controls all that we are and all that we do and feel (Torrey). The Republic of Ireland cannot be adequately examined without including the large role played by the Catholic Church in political development and policy making. The Catholic Church has validated itself as an influential institution since the Norman invasion of Ireland in 1169. The original intent of the invasion served to spread the papacy, and with Ireland, the Church would come to achieve arguably the most Catholic country to exist in the world. The Republic of Ireland evolved through many centuries in order to achieve a true Irish State. The Anglo Irish War proved significant in achieving the latter goal by ridding the southern sector of Ireland from the centuries of grueling oppressive rule and discrimination under Great Britain ... This organization in turn created an illegal Irish Parliament, the Dail Elreann, whom declared war on Britain that initiated the Anglo Irish War. The Irish Republic Army maintained two clear goals they were looking to achieve from the onset of the war. The provisional government desired a complete separation from British rule in addition to creating an Irish Republic free of any other influence (Gray, 2008, p. 376). The war illustrates the birth of modern guerilla war[fare] which in the end arguably produced survivors in place of winners (Gray, 2008, p. 371). Although the war ends diplomatically in favor of the Irish provisional government, the newly established Ireland lacked unity primarily due to arguments over the treaty they reluctantly signed. The continuous strive for religious freedom and ultimate desire for a united Irish state, while an ideological goal, proved contradicting. Since the Northern counties of the Irish territory were primarily protestant and heavily influenced by the Church of England it proposed a problem of true unity, since the Southern counties of Ireland were overwhelmingly traditional Catholics. Many progressive movements began with our children and their educational rights, before branching out to the rest of America s citizens. This can be seen throughout each century. (2) Eventually, Congress decided to set a common guideline among the states through the Land Ordinance of 1785 and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787. These two ordinances required that towns have specific land set aside for public education, making schooling much more accessible for children everywhere and establishing a basic standard for the states. • 17. Persuasive Essay On The Lorax If things keep going the way they are humans will inevitably destroy the ocean and in doing so destroy themselves. There need to be more Loraxes. We the people need to work together to minimize and ultimately stop the production and use of plastics. Driving down the highway, or the gravel road it doesn t matter I look on either side of the road and what do I see; plastic debris and trash. Someone had to have thrown it there or maybe it blew out of the back of a trash truck going by but regardless there it sits until someone picks it up or an animal mistakes it for a meal or a home. When Dr. Suess wrote The Lorax it was in response to deforestation if he were alive today I think he would make another version of the Lorax however this time it would be about polluting the ocean. Riding in the with my cousin once I watched him throw a can out of the window. I can remember getting mad at him and asking him what he was doing and all he said was, someone else will pick it up, it s not like it is a big deal. Well at the time I let it go and thought nothing more of it. Time continued on and when I was in sixth grade my mom and I went to Florida as your driving on a dirt road, how about that drive through meal bag that your spouse can t know about because you and your supposed to be eating healthy? Or watched someone else throw that spit bottle out the window? Believe it or not things like these examples have an impact on the world. We ve all heard the reduce, reuse, recycle but why are people so adamant about it? Perfect examples of reasons why people do this can be seen in the ocean ecosystems. More and more of our wastes are ending up in the ocean and harming the animals living there. Innocent animals that just want to survive and thrive aren t getting the opportunity to try because of trash and litter that floats and sinks in the ocean. This litter that ends up in the ocean is consumed by many animals. • 18. Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Essay Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Queen, usually known as the Evil Queen or the Wicked Queen, is the villain in the 1937 Disney animated film. This version of the character was sometimes referred to as Queen Grimhilde in Disney publications of the 1930s, and was originally voiced by Lucille La Verne. In the versions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that have been sanitized for children, the action of the poem usually seems to concentrate on the possibility of violence aimed at the innocent young. In those stories, although the reader assumes the queen to be motivated by her envy of Snow White s youth and beauty, her motives seem to be subsidiary to the theme of violence itself. In Sexton s version, the queen s pride, which pumped in her like a poison, is diagnosed directly as motivation. Indeed, Sexton says that before the mirror labels Snow White as the most beautiful woman in the land, the girl has been no more important to the queen than a dust mouse under the bed. The mirror s announcement makes the queen suddenly aware of encroaching age and makes her determined to kill Snow White. At the end, the queen is punished for her pride by dancing to death in the red hot shoes. Sexton goes beyond simply making the queen a villain, however. In the poem s second verse paragraph, Sexton uses the second person you to suggest to the reader that everyone is subject to the corrupting effects of pride and may be subject to its rewards. The Watergate crisis is the most infamous scandal that occurred within those years, and arguably, in American political history. Nixon s involvement in the incident (and other controversies leading up to Watergate) led to a loss of faith in government and a transition to the public s reliance on the media. This horrendous event can be further explained through Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible. Miller has won many awards in his time for writing many dramas that are very popular amongst the people and The Crucible just so happens to be one of them. It tells a story about a harsh time that many people faced when they were losing loved ones who were found guilty since they didn t confess to a crime that they never committed. While reading the play, a person will find a theme of power. One specific character, Mary Warren, helps show this theme because as soon as she gains power, her character changes drastically. Throughout The Crucible, Mary Warren is portrayed as a very dynamic character since she begins as being very wimpy, then she gains confidence and becomes brave, and then she goes right back to being timid and controlled by Abigail. In the beginning of the play, Mary Warren s character is well known as being wimpy and afraid. She is under Abigail s control and will do everything she says. According to Sara Constantakis in Literature Resource Center, she is weak and easily influenced. She is one of the girls who took part in the voodoo ritual and is terrified when the talk of witchcraft begins, as she knows people who are convicted of being witches are hanged. This opinion of Mary is further proven by her action of not telling the truth about what happened in the woods because she knows Abigail would kill her. Abigail even screams I say shut it, Mary Warren! (Miller, Act I). Mary is always listening to Abigail s demands, even when she knows the right thing to do. Mary Warren is seen as a poor little mouse who is too quiet to ever stand up for herself. In addition to this, Mary wants to confess about what happened in the woods, but Abigail won t let her. Mary cries, Abby, we ve got to tell. Witchery s a hangin error, a hangin like they done in Boston two year ago! We must tell the truth, Abby! You ll only be whipped for dancin , and the other things! Select one of the three characteristics of information security (CIA) and explain its importance as related to the development of policy, education, OR technology. Confidentiality is one of the three characteristics of the C.I.A. model. It establishes those with sufficient privileges and the need to access the information. Confidentiality is most related to information privacy. It is extremely important to protect the information of employees, customers, or patients. No matter what type of organization it is it will disclose confidential information. That being said, all confidential information is vulnerable to accidental exposure or an intentional hack. If an unauthorized individual or system views the information, confidentiality is breached. Confidentiality contains several measures that are applied to protect the confidentiality of information. These measures include information classification, sure document and data storage, application of general security policies, education of information custodians and end users. Confidentiality must be met in the storage, processing, and transmission of data in an organization. For example, we are going to look at a major recent data breach. • 37. Summary Of Samuel Delany s Racism And Science Fiction As a black man, Samuel Delany has experienced discrimination and racism in a number of settings. However, as a Science Fiction writer he mostly explores racism in that community. Samuel Delany s, Racism and Science Fiction explores how Racism is a system. As such, it is fueled as much by chance as by hostile intentions and equally the best intentions as well. It is whatever systematically acclimates people, of all colors, to become comfortable with the isolation and segregation of the races, on a visual, social, or economic level (31). Delany blames social traditions, and material and economic conditions for supporting the system. And not actual individuals. Delany supports his argument by giving three examples of when he has experienced racism in science fiction. The issue of racism in science fiction is presented by Delany when he tells his readers of an encounter with Isaac Asimov, his convention book signing partner, and his habitual panel placement with a fellow writer. While Delany was walking back to his seat after winning an award for Aye, and Gomorrrah fellow writer Isaac Asimov pulled him aside and jokingly said, You know, Chip, we only voted you those awards because you re negro (18). Delany, although realizing that Asimov was using satire to say that the color of his skin had no part in the voting decision. Realized that unintentionally or not, Asimov was saying that no matter Delany s achievements he will always be Negro . This fits in to Delany s explanation of what systematic racism does, it acclimates people of color to be comfortable with the isolation of races. Because Delany is a black writer he will foremost be know as a black writer before anything else, and will always be grouped in that category. This well intentioned joke fuels the system that is racism. As mentioned before. Systematic racism can also be fueled by chance. During a convention where writers were grouped together for book signing. Nalo Hopkinson and Delany, the only two black writers attending the convention, were sat together. The prominent female character in the film, Evelyn Mulwray, is a wealthy white woman. With her character comes active male attention and desire. Laura Mulvey s Theory of The Gaze supports this argument by studying the power and influence of a patriarchal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like anything we can take this too far where the gaze becomes an obsession, particularly towards the female turning it into a sexual gaze. Therefore the male is the viewer and holds the power, he is what Mulvey states as being the active male while the female is then passive (1975). If the female becomes a passive character is she then needed for the development of the story? I do not think so, if we give her this position in the film she is not a valuable part of the narrative. The other way to view this gaze would be with cruelty towards the female character. The man is still in a position of control but in a victorious way. This may mean he treats her poorly. In the first scene I had mentioned earlier Evelyn is just meeting Jake for the first time. He is in his office with his male associates, which I may point out are all white men. Jake is telling a dirty joke about a man screwing his wife like the Chinese. When Jake turns to see Evelyn standing behind him all along both him and his co workers stop with all seriousness in her presence. They have changed their demeanour completely because there is a woman in the room. This seemed to put a freeze in time as what was just happening in the office came to an abrupt stop as she enters the room. Mulvey (1975) states in her essay, her visual presence tends to work against the development of a story line (p. 19). This means the men are holding the story line together with the added image ... • 40. Nurturing Care In Child Development Essay Healthy child development is dependent on many factors, one of which is nurturing care. Nurturing care has seven components according to Alderman Fernald, 2017, the components are protection from harm, stable home environment, access to good nutrition, responsive caregiving, quality health care provided, stimulating/enriching environment, and opportunity for play and exploration. By focusing on nurturing care is to support the brain s response to early experiences in early childhood that will benefit acquisition of languages, cognitive skills, and socio emotional competencies (Britto et al., 2017). In addition, supportive nurturing in early childhood development (ECD) can have lifelong benefits such as better learning capacity, greater opportunities for achievements, more involvement in community affairs and becoming a productive member of society. You would always think why don t people stop this kind of brutality? and why don t they have a sense of wrong?! After all, people can still get as much soda as they want. This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is this such a big deal? 1 soda ban In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume. The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law. 2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be stopped from doing foolish stuff, and this has become, in contemporary American politics, highly controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. Lucid dreaming could be a possible treatment for those with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who suffer from nightmares. During lucid dreaming in a nightmare, the PTSD patients would be able to let go of their fear by recognizing the threats they have in their dreams are not real. PTSD patients can also transform their dreams into something more pleasant or try to wake up from their sleep. A case study proved this idea to be true; the reoccurring dreams the patients would experience were going away after they were introduced into lucid dreaming. The first scene of the first act of King Lear had a genuinely dramatic affect upon me. This first glimpse into the world of Lear and his subordinates sets the premise for the whole play, unravelling within the first few pages, themes which I believe will become increasingly evident. The scene opens with the introduction of three characters Kent, Gloucester and Edmund. Of these three characters the only one who seems not to have been shown in an unfavourable light yet, by this brief introduction, is Kent. At this point of the scene it can be clearly noticed how similar Goneril and Regan are, as Regan asks Lear to measure her worth as he measured Goneril s. This closeness seems symbolic in a way to the close knit coven in Macbeth, as these women seem to have underlying deceptive qualities. Before considering Cordelia s answer to Lear, we must note her comments made during Goneril and Regan s speeches . This is keen use of the aside speech by Shakespeare as the audience would be able to hear Cordelia s confusion over what her response shall be and her truthful belief that her love is more ponderous than her tongue. Her indecision over what to say to her father shows really how much she does not want to offend him, but instead she does the opposite, as he cannot see beyond his pride, to her loyal words. When she says Nothing , she is indicating to him that he should no the worth of her love for him. The king, shocked with this appearance of ingratitude in his favourite child, desired her to consider her words, and to mend her speech, lest it should mar her fortunes. Cordelia then tells Lear that she loves him according to her station, and as much as he loves her as his daughter. She is as she says young...and true . This intense stress and anxiety eventually develops into paranoid schizophrenia. Throughout the movie Nash and his wife, Alicia, have to try and cope with his constant delusions. • 48. Analysis Of Gone With The Wind Gone with the Wind is a 1939 movie directed by Victor Fleming and starring Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, and Olivia De Havilland. The film follows the life of Scarlett O Hara (Leigh), a young Georgian woman, and her pursuits of romance and wealth during the Civil War and Reconstruction. She faces the challenges of rebuilding her family s plantation and finding love while the man she wants to pursue already married. This film falls into the genres of historical and romance. Historical films are characterized simply by the fact that they are set in an earlier time period, usually one that is far enough in the past that it can be distinguished from the time period the movie is produced in. Most often, the era a historical film is set in is one that has a particular key event that sets the time period. In the case of Gone with the Wind, the film is set around the Civil War, which holds a key part in much of the plot and impacts the characters lives. Romance films have a plot that revolves around the attraction between two main characters rather than having the romantic relationships be a subplot. The typical romantic film tropes that can be found in Gone with the Wind are Scarlett s unrequited love, bordering on obsession, for Ashley and her marriage to Rhett which was portrayed as if they were both to find happiness with each other, but ultimately only found more conflict. The historical aspects of this film revolves not only around the Civil War itself, but also the idealized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Poem Strange Fruit is an interesting poem depicts a very horrid image of pure racism in the south and how lynchings were such a gruesome image, and was meant to be a protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair) . The poem Strange Fruit was published in 1937 by Abel Meeropol after he viewed an image of a lynching that occurred in the south. The elements of imagery are seen in the poem when Abel writes The bulgin eyes and the twisted mouth (6). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they were being hanged against their will. This depicts imagery because it gives a very detailed image in the reader s mind of how they looked like as they were hanged. Personification is present in the poem Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent. Throughout the poem Strange Fruit Meeropol also uses metaphors, such as when he puts Southern trees bear a strange fruit (1) in his poem. The entire poem itself is a metaphor because the poem compares African Americans that have been lynched, and the strange fruit that hangs from trees.
