Explication of Wallace Stevens Snowman
Wallace Stevens explores the perception of a January winter scene in his poem The Snow Man. The
poem occurs over the space of five unrhymed stanzas, three lines each, and is contained to a single,
deceptively simple sentence. Within this sentence, semicolons split up the viewer s actions as the
speaker expands on the necessities of the scenery. Rather than that which is perceived, it is the act of
perception on which the poem focuses, and passive verbs predominantly characterize this central
action, imposing conditions on the viewer and the winter scene which is viewed. In this way, the poem
is concerned with unification of time and distance, organizing a single instance of perception into
multiple actions as the viewer s mind and body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the peak of winter, trees are shagged with ice, having sat in one place for the duration of the
season. The mind of winter which regards the scene is therefore required to have sat still alongside the
scenery, and so the adjectives describing the trees should be read as interchangeable with those
describing the viewer. In the sense that trees with rough textures are made rougher by the frost, the
onslaught of winter only reinforces what was already an aspect of nature, unifying what has been and
what is. Though trees may take on an organic, shifting quality as they continue to grow, the junipers
and spruces of this poem, already prickly harsh, are frozen in these perpetual states by the cold.
Junipers, harsh trees meant to last through the winter, are shagged with ice, so that the ice only
exaggerates what was already true about the texture of these trees. The same is true of the following
line, in which spruces are made rough in the distant glitter, enforcing the preexisting nature of
evergreens, as they remain the same throughout the year. The second stanza spills into the third
without punctuation to create a pause. The space between the two stanzas seems to reinforce the
distance of the distant glitter // of the January sun, which puts an end to the second sub act of
perception, as there is a semicolon after sun. In explicitly citing the month, the speaker has at the
beginning of the third stanza finally grounded the poem in a specific

Case Study Of E-Commerce
About eCommerce in India
The scenario of eCommerce in India is still at nascent stage. At present, the success of E Commerce
relies heavily on the internet and mobile phone revolution which is expected to tranform the way
products reach their customers. In countries like the US and China, e commerce has already made
substantial gains by achieving sales of over 150 billion USD in revenue. However, the industry in
India is, still at its infancy. In spite of this, over the last few years, E Commerce has grown
considerably by over 35% CAGR from 3.8 billion USD in 2009 to around 12.6 billion USD in 2013.
Ecommerce deals with the buying and selling of goods and services over an electronic platform,
mainly the internet. These business transactions are categorized into differrent models based on who

Many challenges identified during the project required changes at the overall website wide level
which was unfeasible to implement due to the organizational constraints which was a major setback as
the project objective which was to increase conversion rate was linked to a number of aspects in the
value chain and inability to change the obvious problems poses serious future sustainability threats to
the organization. This was a major limitation and was conveyed to the manager.
IV. Suggestion for Future Research
There is a need to emphasise on promoting Snapdeal as a brand to improve customer loyalty. In the
age of predatory pricing and heavy discounts, there is little or no differentiation on the pricing or on
the product differentiation side.
So, it becomes vital to promote Snapdeal as a wholesome brand which people would like to relate
themselves with. Hence, it is time we start portraying it as a well rounded company. Here are a few

Texting and Driving Accidents
Texting and Driving (Taylor) just loved everybody and was an amazing friend, said Shauna Sauer,
mother of a teen killed in a texting and driving accident. She wanted to take on the world, and she
would have. Taylor was killed going 80 plus miles an hour on I 84 when she hit a tank truck that was
rounding the corner at 15 mph in the opposite lane. I think she was probably (texting) to stay awake,
she was probably tired, said Clay Sauer, Taylor s father. Texting and driving ruined this young girl s
life, causing a huge impact in the lives of her loved ones. Each year, thousands of people are severely
injured or die in car accidents that are caused by cell phone use while operating a motorized vehicle.
People need to put their phones aside while they are driving because when people use their phones
their attention is not focused on the road, more unnecessary deaths occur, there is a higher risk of
accidents, and insurance rates sky rocket. Texting and driving is dangerous because when our attention
is focused on the messages that pop up on our phones we cannot focus on the road and are unaware of
our surroundings. According to LA Times, people who text and drive are 23 times more likely to be
involved in an accident. Associated Press of The LA Times mentioned, We all agree that things like
taking your eyes off the road are dangerous. The popularity of mobile devices is increasing, and with

The Hippocampus
Introduction:
The OED defines multitasking as dealing with more than one task at the same time. The brain, in
order to multitask, must receive both actions being performed, and dilute the information before
processing. In order to read and listen to something at the same time, for an example, the brain must
take the information being read by the eyes and the pulses coming from the ears, and reduce the
frequency to keep both tasks going efficiently.
The hippocampus is part of the limbic system that controls the emotions and autonomic nervous
system. The hippocampus controls long term and short term memory. It is located in the medial
temporal lobe of the brain behind the Amygdala (Hayhurst, 2002). The hippocampus links memory
and emotion together, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brain is a muscle that has to have continuous exercise to stay keen and quick with speed. People
in their later years have a harder time remembering things and have trouble applying simple tasks to
their lives because of the damage the brain suffers when not being commonly trained and kept taken
care of. This is a major cause in many mental disorders and diseases diagnosed in later years such as
alzheimers, as well as its stronger partner, dementia, and depression or anxiety. Studies show that
elderly patients showed a much higher percentage of life expectancy for those who gave their brain a
daily challenge such as crossword puzzles and daily brain teasers, compared to their counterpart of
those who did not focus on opening time to practice using their brain to stay lively and aware. Another
major role in keeping the mind young is for the brain to stay social. The ability to interact with people
everyday allows the brain to work a great deal of an exercise. The vocal conversations and the audial

Students At The University, All Of The Students
The first year at the university, all of the students was living on campus dormitory. It was not just a
place to stay, but it was also a way for fostering academic and multicultural program. The program is
intended to facilitate the students to adapt to college life, student world and hone soft skills, such as
communication, organizational skills, and understand the diversity. There were four students in one
room. Therefore, I had three other roommates. It was the first experience for me to live in another
place for a long time besides in my own home and also shared a room with three other students. The
intensity of understanding the diversity has improved had more interactions with almost everyone that
represent the ethnic and culture from western to the eastern islands of Indonesia. I would like to say
that this is an essential emotional asset that could bring unity on our campus and also develop our
nationality. I learned that we need to help each other in joy and sorrow in order to build success, not
just for the study but also to build relationships emotionally with others. I had my first girlfriend when
I was on my undergraduate at the same university. This first romantic relationship was made me that
when we want to be loved by someone, we also need to love them. In addition, we also have to accept
our personal differences in order to maintain a relationship. While I was in undergraduate university, I

How To Write Kanji Essay
Kanji is unique language in the world. This language is not like English that makes the word with
consonant and vowel letters. Kanji has the morphographic language that one letter with the meaning
and the pronunciation, and there are more than 2000 letters of Kanji in Japanese Language. If we are
learning Japanese, we have to memorize many Kanji characters with meaning and sound because
Japanese uses Kanji a lot in their society. However, actually knowing Kanji is hard for many people.
Even native Japanese people sometimes do not know how to read Kanji, which is rarely used.
Therefore, there is a debate that about abolishing Kanji. Does Japanese actually need to use Kanji?
Japanese language has already two phonographic scripts, Hiragana and Katakana, so some of people
can argue that Japanese does not need Kanji is too complicated to learn Japanese. However, in my
opinion, Kanji abolishment is not a good choice for Japanese for tradition and uniqueness.
There is an article Aspects of the graphological structure of Japanese written by A. E. Backhouse.
Backhouse introduces the Kanji system and both native Japanese and Sino Japanese homography and
homophony. He gives some examples of Japanese words that have same sounds and different
meanings such as Soko, which has two meanings, the place and the bottom. In addition, he introduces
the similar meaning but different using such as Atsui, means hot or warm. These are pretty

The River From Eden, By Charles Darwin
One of the most well known atheists evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins who order to explain the
existence of the universe and emergence of life on Earth. Today, many scientist firmly believe that the
universe was created approximately when infinitely small and dense point known as singularity started
expanding 14 billion years ago. Fine tuned expansion unleashed the beginning of the time and space
itself. Our Earth formed some 4 or 5 billion years ago, and the first living single organisms appeared
in water roughly 0.5 1.5 billions years after its existence.(35, Theism, Atheism, and Big Bang
Cosmology). Over the millions of years they began to evolve from the single celled organism into
ultimately the most advanced form of life, human through the process of natural selection. The term
was popularized by Charles Darwin in 1859 to explain how animals change to adapt to the
environment for survival. Richard Dawkins states in his book The River From Eden , Genetic code is
in fact literally identical in all animals, plants, and bacteria that have ever been looked at. All earthly
living things are descended from a single ancestor. From a molecular point of, all animals are pretty
close relatives of one another and even of plants (12). Although scientists cannot scientifically explain
how or why the Big Bang started, they successfully explain what happens after the Big Bang and how
we all came to be.
The second approach that explains the beginning of the universe

Narrative Analysis Of The Sniper
Drama, suspense, war, and death. In the anti war short story The Sniper written by Liam O Flaherty, a
Republican sniper embraces his rifle and conceals on the roof top without a sound, waiting to kill his
enemies. The sniper accidentally gives away his location when he lights up a cigarette and exposes
himself to the enemy sniper on the opposite roof. The two snipers from two conflicting sides then
faces each other off through an innovative war; using both their shooting skills and intelligence.
Subsequently, the Republican sniper pulls out a brilliant plan and he successfully shoots out a deadly
bullet to the enemy sniper. After the line of life and death, the Republican sniper decides to identify
the enemy sniper s face; he slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Republican sniper finally kills the enemy sniper, he refers to him as an object: it, the body,
the shattered mass. He only refers to the dead sniper as a he when he is thinking about the time before
the war. The characterization and word choice by O Flaherty shows the readers how the horrors of war
effect the sniper s feelings and mindset.
With the support of characterization and diction, O Flaherty describes the setting in a way that gives
off depressing, suspenseful and pessimistic images; showing that war is an awful thing. The author
dedicates the entire first paragraph to describe the setting and to illustrate the atmosphere of the story.
For example, Dublin lay enveloped in darkness. The word darkness instantly creates a sense of
insecurity and mystery in the readers minds and as well as a suspenseful atmosphere. The sentence
The dim light of the moon shone through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light transmits a feeling of
loneliness and depression since moon is often thought as lonely in the high end of the sky. Around the
beleaguered Four Courts the heavy guns roared. Here and there through the city machine guns and
rifles broke the silence of the night, spasmodically like dogs barking on lone farm. In this sentence,
the author identifies Dublin as a dangerous and insecure city, full of constant violence with the
accompaniments of machine guns and rifles. In addition, when the Republican drops to the

Religious Tolerance In Chaim Potock s The Chosen
Religious Tolerance in The Chosen Religious tolerance, one of the major topics of the world today,
rarely shows itself honestly. Yet, what is religious tolerance and what qualities does it display?
Honestly, Religious tolerance means holding true to one s own beliefs, while tolerating others beliefs.
Perfectly demonstrated religious tolerance does not mean agreeing with someone s views, but instead
tolerating them, if it causes no hurt toward others. Acting intolerantly of another ideas does not
include speaking about one s own ideas, but instead of hating and persecuting others because of their
ideas. Beautifully is religious tolerance demonstrated by the characters of Chaim Potock s classic, The
Chosen. The Characters who demonstrate religious tolerance include David Malter, Reb Saunders, and
Reuven Malter. Firstly, David Malter, the father of Reuven Malter, beautifully demonstrates religious
tolerance. David is a rabbi, a teacher, a zealous Zionist. Zionism is the belief that the Jews should
rebuild Jerusalem to create a Jewish state. However, many Jews such as Reb Saunders hate Zionism
and slander Zionists like David. Courteously, David tolerates their persecution and though he

Google s Antitrust Investigations
If like the vast majority of the public when searching for information it s a reflexive action to just
Google it. With this being said, one generally doesn t think of why they choose a search engine as long
as they find what they are looking for. In recent events, it has been proposed that Google has misled
users and monopolized the market. In June 2011, Google was placed under investigation by the
Federal Trade Commission or FTC (Ammori and Pelican, 2012) in violation of Section 2 of The
Sherman Act and Section 5 of The Federal Trade Act (Hazan, 2013). The FTC s investigation focused
on allegations that Google has been abusing its dominance in Internet search. Google s competitor s

Antitrust investigation is of considerable importance because it is utilized in the establishments of
mergers, partnerships, acquisitions and other business takeovers/partnerships which when completed
might result to an antitrust violation. These laws serve to prohibit services designed to restrain trade
and commercial progress such as a monopoly structured market. Monopoly structured market is when
there is a single provided product with no close substitutions. As opposed, to a monopoly, a pure
competition market is an aspect in which multiple companies offer identical or close to the same
products, which will compete with price and quality, and in some case costumer service. Additionally
in contrast, oligopoly is a market structure where there are a few firms producing all or most of the
market supply of a particular good or service and whose decisions about the industry s output can
affect competitors. Oligopolies firms tend to charge reasonably premium prices but they compete
through advertising and other promotional means. Simultaneously, possessing an array of market
structures safeguard the consumption of basic products and services as supplied by the business
community to the rest of the human populace. When P = MC, society cannot gain by producing 1
more or 1 less unit of the product. In contrast, a monopolist maximizes profit by producing the lower
output level at which marginal revenue (rather than price) equals marginal cost. At this MR = MC
point, price exceeds marginal cost, meaning that society would obtain more benefit than it would incur
cost by producing extra units (McConnell, Brue, and Flynn, 2012, p.375). Unlike most companies,
Google has cornered its market and does not have to contemplate the high barriers to entry or costs.

Air Quality Plan Area
When talking about redevelopment that have the potential to add an additional 25,000 people to an
existing population, one of the important factors that need to be discuss is the air quality impacts. In
the foreseeable future, with or without the implemented plans in the Plan Area will experience an
increase in population. According to Adam Brinklow, the author of How the city plans to add 25,000
people to Central SoMa, without any plan it is estimated that around 16,000 people will settle in the
Plan Area anyway, but with plans implemented, the Plan Area would add 25,000 to the current number
of residents by 2040. When more people congregate in an area that was at one time had a low density

However, even when the result shows less than significant impact, we have to recognized the fact that
VMT only account for passenger cars, not trucks, transits, and transportation network
companies(TNCs), such Uber and Lyft. Furthermore, when researching the air quality on the Central
Soma area, I came across maps showing the area glowing in considerable high level of particulate
matters(PM). That s why at the end of the air quality section, the developer stated that with the, Plan
under 2040 cumulative conditions would result in significant cumulative impacts to existing sensitive
receptors and this impact would be significant and unavoidable with mitigation (IV.F 57). One of the
contributing factors that is going to affect the air quality in the Plan Area, but also the living quality
and the residents mobility is the transportation impacts. In this section, I will look closely at the
impacts with the plan implemented in the Plan Area VMT, mode share, and TNC; mitigation on cars
with the utilization of bike and transit infrastructures muni forward, Central Subway, and more and
improve bike lanes. When talking about transportation, the VMT is very crucial for such an enormous
redevelopment like the Plan Area because there is going to be a big increase in the number of residents
in the upcoming years. An upward of 25,000 people is predicted to settle within

Macbeth s Relationship With The Witches
The first encounter and the second encounter between Macbeth and the witches are all part of the
witches plot for Macbeth s tragic downfall. The witches first encounter with Macbeth introduces the
prophesies he was destined for. As Macbeth walks onto the stage, he hears the witches speaking, All
hail Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of Glamis! / All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of / Cawdor! / All
hail, Macbeth! that shalt be king hereafter. (1.3.50 53) In response to this encounter with the witches,
Macbeth speaks to himself,

If good, why do I yield to that suggestion ...

(4.1.98 102)
Macbeth s reaction to this second encounter with the witches is:
Time, thou anticipatest my dread exploits:
The flighty purpose never is o ertook
Unless the deed go with it: from this moment,
The very firstlings of my heart shall be
The firstlings of my hand. And even now,
To crown my thoughts with acts, be it thought and done;
The castle of Macduff I will surprise;
Seize upon Fife; give to the edge o the sword
His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls
That trace him in his line. (4.1.158 167)
These apparitions tell Macbeth the dangers of what may come to him; however, they also tell him not
to fear, for anyone born from a woman s womb cannot defeat Macbeth. In response to these
prophesies, Macbeth becomes stricter with his priorities. Macbeth s thoughts are becoming more
rationed into thinking only negative thoughts. The result of these apparition, gets Macbeth into the
mindset of killing Macduff s family because he fears that anyone in Macduff s bloodline may harm
Macbeth. The first mindset is the plot to murder Duncan; the second mindset is the plot to murder
Macduff s family. This pattern keeps building up on Macbeth, as the witches continue their plan for
Macbeth s tragic downfall. The witches are like an evil doctor that continues to inject Macbeth with a
negative vibe, leading Macbeth to do terrible actions. The witches play a massive role throughout the
play, and that is to curse Macbeth to do those terrible

Piety And Its Role As Powerful Positions During The Period...
Piety and its Role in Powerful Positions
During the period of early Arab conquests, massive transformations were taking place as a new great
confessional empire was emerging. During this time many conflicts and questions arose. Who is the
rightful Caliph once the prophet Muhammad dies? What makes a good Caliph? What is to be done
with the non Muslims? What does it mean to be a Muslim? One of the major themes that arose from
these questions was the importance of being pious when holding some form of power, whether
political or military. Primary sources demonstrate how this theme has come to fruition, such as in a
letter to the Caliph Umar II, and Tabari s The History of Prophet s and Kings. The letter to Caliph
Umar II is important in developing the role of religious devotion in connection to holding power
because it starts to question what exactly the role of the Caliph is. It seems by this letter that the role
of the Caliph is not just to be a political head for the conquered land of the Caliphate, but they also
need to be a religious leader as well. An important part of being that religious head is being pious, to
demonstrate to others how to fully become devout and submit to God. The writer, Hasan al Basri, in
this letter is asking the Caliph to do away with luxury and go back to the simpler times because it is
dangerous to dally in decadence. It is a critique of the lavish life style of the recent Caliphs, with
desert palaces and extravagant mosques, and how that

Planning The Global Business Enterprise
Phase One: Planning the Global Business Enterprise
1. Identifying Global Business Opportunities The aircraft industry in The United Arab Emirates
(UAE) is growing exponentially, both for commercial and military aircraft operations. Demand is
strong for aircraft equipment, parts and services and there has been significant investment in
establishing domestic MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facilities in the region. Opportunities
for U.S. companies include fleet equipment, parts and services sales to both operators and leasing
companies; sourcing aircraft parts and components, including advanced aerospace composite
structures and components; and building MRO facilities and capabilities (UAE Embassy, 2015).
According to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As part of Lockheed Martin s agreement with the UAE, projects that are implemented are required to
add economic and commercial value to the UAE s economy equivalent to at least 60% of the supply
contract value (Tawazun, 2015). A joint venture MRO facility between AMI and Lockheed Martin
would add both economic and commercial value to the UAE.
2. Analyzing International Competitors MRO competition is accelerating in Asia and the Middle East,
with the major competitors being engine OEM s such as GE, Pratt Whitney, Rolls Royce, and to a
lesser degree, Lufthansa Technik (LHT) and Air France Industries KLM Engineering and Maintenance
(AFIKLM) (MRO Titans, n.d.). UAE s Mubadala Aerospace has acquired Abu Dhabi Aircraft
Technologies (ADAT) and SR Technics (SRT) and is hoping to gain market share, while ST Aerospace
is also a major competitor in the global marketplace. Many MRO s have opened operations in the
UAE and are making significant investments in growing their capabilities. Investments in sectors like
oil and gas, process industries and power generation is expected to drive demand for turbine services
for the near future in GCC (Middle East (GCC), 2010). As more participants enter the market and,
considering the preference for outsourcing of maintenance activities, the market is expected to show
healthy growth for the foreseeable

A few years ago, on a hot summer day, a short Asian boy stared at the sky in disbelief. A roller coaster

a few choices, to rewatch the shows, go to new animal exhibits, or go on some rides. We quickly went
through the new exhibits, and between all these exhibits were the two largest rides in the park. One of
them was what I call the traditional roller coaster, where it goes up slowly so you can enjoy the
beautiful view of the park, then plunge down suddenly, your heart filled with fear and your ears filled
with screams. The other was even worse. It twisted around and went upside down and then went to the
moon. Suddenly, Mom asked Would you like to ride any those rides? You seem really bored riding
these kid rides with Julianne? Two things popped up in my mind. The wimpy side of me was

U. S. interest rates must be competitive with foreign interest rates; if the Federal Reserve attempts to
set interest rates lower than foreign rates, foreigners will sell U.S. bonds, decreasing bond prices,
resulting in higher U. S. rates. Thus, if the trade deficit is large relative to the size of the overall
economy, it may hinder the Fed s ability to combat a recession by lowering interest rates. 1 2 Sole
proprietorship, partnership, and corporation are the three principal forms of business organization. The
advantages of the first two include the ease and low cost of formation. The advantages of the
corporation include limited liability, indefinite life, ease of ownership transfer, and access to capital

capital; (2) unlimited personal liability for business debts; and (3) limited life. The disadvantages of a
partnership are (1) unlimited liability, (2) limited life, (3) difficulty of transferring ownership, and (4)
difficulty of raising large amounts of capital. The disadvantages of a corporation are (1) double

Summary Of President Lyndon Baines Johnson s We Shall...
In 1965, the United States of America was almost in chaos due to the Civil Rights Movement, and its
often violent responses. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke
to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights to the principles of the Constitution
and the values of this country. Johnson also briefly spoke of the bill he planned to present in the
coming week. This bill would ensure that African Americans can freely exercise their Constitutional
right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos,
logos, and pathos, but was also very successful in its overall purpose, an argument that no American
citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of
ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but still very powerful. Johnson s credibility
simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States
of America. Although this seems very obvious, he reminds the audience of his power several times
throughout the speech by referring to himself as your President (5,6). He also reminds the audience of
his power by speaking about a bill that he plans to present, and three bills he has already passed, in
order to fix the issue at hand. Although Johnson does well to make sure he is seen as an authority
figure who should be listened to, he also does very well to make sure that his

Land and Soil Degradation Assessment
Chapter 3 3.1 Introduction Land and soil degradation assessments have recently become more
fashionable responding to environmental concerns particularly in industrial countries, following the
lead in developing countries that have claimed significant effects of land degradation on their
agricultural production and food security. The underlying causes of degradation have been very often
the basic socio economic structure and institutional structures of developing economies. Among them
are land shortage, inappropriate land tenure arrangements, poverty, and population growth. However,
the diverse factors that contribute to the problem make it necessary that a comprehensive approach is
taken by the authorities responsible for policy in different areas such as food security, forests, soil
conservation, and water resources. 3.2 National contexts, South Africa South Africa is located, as one
might expect, on the southern tip of Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Indian
Ocean on the south and east. Along its northern border, from west to east, lay Namibia, Botswana, and
Zimbabwe, and to the northeast are Mozambique and Swaziland. Wholly enclosed by South Africa,
and situated in its eastern central plain, is the independent kingdom of Lesotho. The country is divided
into nine provinces namely Limpopo, Gauteng, North West, Free State, Kwazulu Natal, Mpumalanga,
Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, and also Western Cape. Although South Africa s climate varies

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Death Penalty In The...
Death Penalty should be implemented again here in the Philippines
People have different opinions and ideas regarding the issue on death penalty. In fact, this death
penalty is still a debatable issue and requires the opinions of people, researchers, and experts. Mostly
people may say that they are not in favor of this penalty for it is cruel. People may say that death
penalty may not be a possible solution for the crimes and injustices happening around us. But, people
got wrong with this idea, with this statement because this death penalty is in fact, a good and a
possible solution for what is happening right now. Death penalty could provide advantages to us and
surely we could really benefit from these advantages.
Death penalty should be implemented again here in the Philippines so that justice will prevail, there
could be an effective way to ban criminals, there could be a suitable punishment, the people could
decide properly, and there could be less chaos.
Death penalty is a serious punishment. Death penalty can also be called as a capital punishment. Death

Right now, we may observe that when criminals are just being put into prison, crimes are still going
on and it became more and more. It is like criminals are still being given the freedom to do things
again and again. So with death penalty, it may help lessen the crimes and it may create an effective
way to ban criminals. With this penalty, it may lead people in giving up for committing a crime. First,
people may or would think twice or more than twice with their decisions and second, people may
change their minds and would decide to not commit a crime. Also with death penalty, it may allow the
people to be afraid in committing a crime in their life. Study also shows that having this penalty aims

Temporary Work Growth In Canada
Ever since Canada suffered a recession (temporary economic decline due to the reduced industrial and
trade activity), temporary employment in Canada has grown more rapidly and people are finding it
hard to find permanent jobs. Temporary work growth has grown three times faster than permanent
employment between 2009 and 2012, and most of the temporary work growth has occurred within the
young people. Positively, being in temporary work can lead to permanent work and can make one
more flexible, which mostly benefits the young people in the workforce. However, this is a huge issue

My Totem Pole Essay
My Totem Pole A totem pole is a tall log carved mainly by the indigenous people of Alaska and
British Columbia. The poles tell stories that have been passed down from generation to generation as
legends and myths. However, that is not the only type of totem pole, there are totems that tell the
carver s history, their family s history and some are even used to honor the dead. Additionally, some
totem poles were made to show respect to an important tribal member. Totem poles feature animals
and symbols, chosen by the carver to represent themselves, another person, or an event. I have chosen
to construct a totem pole to represent my qualities and personality. My totem pole will feature a deer, a
fox, a monkey, and a cat. For my first totem animal, I have chosen the deer. I chose this animal
because I am quiet when I am around people I don t know. Also, the deer is said to be helpful and not
knowingly hurt anything, well, I try to be helpful and I don t try to hurt anybody that I care about. I am
different from the deer because deer are said to be uncaring about what people say to try to convince
them to do something, but I usually listen to people that I trust like my friends if they say ... Show

Redemption And The Karmic Cycle
Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. Every living being on this planet has flaws, has
made errors and has committed sins. It is just to say that life has no favourites, and metes out
punishment to anybody who commits mistakes. People eventually pay for their acts of sin. So, why is
it that some people are able to make peace with their past mistakes and graciously welcome the life
they have in front of them? The answer to this is redemption. Redemption is the second chance life
gives us, to atone for our sins, mend our faults and change our story. It is up to every individual how
he or she wants to perceive this rare opportunity given by life. This resonates with the philosophy of
the karmic cycle.
According to renowned mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik, Hindu mythology sees destinations as merely
an individual s choice. For a person who believes there is life after death, death is merely an artificial
milestone. What is natural, however is action. Every action has a reaction, consequences of which are
both short lived and long term. Karma is both the action and the reaction, the cause and the
consequence, the stimulus and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Involvement Can Make Products Differentiate From...
Part 1 Involvement
Involvement has for the last decades been an important topic within marketing, and especially when
discussing consumer behaviour. This essay aims to explain different types of involvement, using real
life examples to illustrate the concepts. Competitors will always be competitors, so this essay will also
highlight how involvement can make products differentiate from them. Lastly, a few other theories
relevant to involvement are lightly discussed.
Relating involvement with motivation
Involvement and motivations go hand in hand when it comes to purchasing decisions. It may by low
involvement, and it may be high. The same goes for the level of motivation. Elements that acts as a
bridge between the two are emotion and knowledge. When emotions arise, emotional states are
activated. To reduce or prevent unpleasant emotions, marketers use emotion reduction. One theory that
talks about motives (the reason behind motivation to purchase) is the McGuire s physical motives
model. It talks about consumers need for consistency, the need to determine who/what causes things,
the need to categorize information and the need for observable cues or symbols (Quester et al 2014).
The message in the advertising has a lot to say on whether the consumer is motivated or not to
purchase. The individual s interest in the ad topic decides the level of involvement and motivation of
buying it because more attention is given. Sports fans are more likely to read or pay attention to ads

Mary Seacole Essay
How far do the sources suggest that Mary Seacole was a great help to the men in the Crimea ? Mary
Seacole is praised in both sources 1 and 2, but in source 3 it seems that Nightingale disagrees in terms
of her method of helping the men, although she did some good. Source 1 and 2 both agree that she
was a great help but for different reasons. Source 1 is agreeing to this mainly because of the fact that it
is written by Sir John Hall who I Head of the Army Medical Services and we know that Seacole was
rejected by all hospitals, and he would not want to write about declining one of the most loved and
charitable woman in Britain at the time, especially throughout the army, the assistance she gave them,

Similarly source 3 also mentions no doubt she did some good but in this case it is begrudging praise
from Nightingale, and we know she s being honest because it is a letter that she instructed her brother
in law to burn after being read, so we get an accurate view of Nightingale s opinion. This source is
linked to the other 2 sources because it is at the time which Seacole was getting a rapturous reception
and in the other sources Seacole is getting praise but also all three sources state somewhere in their
content that she did help the men in the Crimea. Source 3 has both fragments of agreement and
disagreement and it differs from the other sources because it doesn t completely agree with the other 2
sources and it can be seen as an emotionally charged letter, as Seacole is getting so much praise in
England, so it could suggest she s jealous of the reception she s receiving back in England. As well as
this it seems that she is the odd one out, because everyone else has a huge love for Seacole apart from
her. Nightingale also adds criticisms to her methods of helping the men as she calls Seacole s hotel a
bad house and she says that she introduced much drunkenness and improper conduct which could be
showing her jealousy as she dismisses the fact that she helps the men, but she is ery picky on her
methods. In source 3,

What Led to the 1929 Market Crash
The stock market will always be remembered, it was just so traumatizing to Americans and history of

depressing that left an impact. 1928 things started getting unequal the rich were getting richer and the
poor were getting less poor, with an imbalance of 0.1 percent of society earning the same total income

It is your reaction to adversity itself, that determines how your life story will develop . Dieter F.

adversity and personally develop and learn that experience to improve your life. In the novel Indian
Horse written by Richard Wagamese and Friday Night Lights written by H.G Bissigner Saul Indian

Horse overcomes adversity throughout the novel while the Permian High school fails to. In both
novels, adversity is encountered through discrimination, personal barriers and unfortunate life

attending residential school were verbally and physically abused and furthermore the cultural was

Theme Of Choices In A Rose For Emily And Hills Like White...
In life, everyone has choices that can determine their future. There are always two choices in life, one
that will leave people not regretting their decision and another that will always make an individual
second guess the choice they made. Choices do not just happen to real people they can also happen to
characters in pieces of literature. In every story, short or long, the reader gets an understanding of the
characters and the situation(s) they are in. In A Rose for Emily and Hills like White Elephants the
characters in these stories the characters make decisions that change their lives. The author conveys
the theme of choices can take people s lives in different directions by using symbolism, imagery, and
oppression of women. Faulkner, the author of A Rose for Emily uses symbolism through the entire
story to help convey the theme. An example of symbolism would be Emily Garrison s house. The
house is a very old pre civil war house which during the time Emily s father was alive it was a very
nice and prestigious house. Her house helps the development of the theme by being a symbol for an
older generation. Emily Garrison is stuck in the past and does not want to accept that times have
changed and her house is a good representation of that. Her house never changes and it never does in
the story because Emily makes the choice to not go on with the times which helps allude to the theme.
In the story Hills like White Elephants by author also uses symbolism. The

Describe at least one of these experiments and explain the significance of the findings. In one of the
experiments, Mary Gasseling took a little patch of tissue, early in development, from what would be
the pinky side of a limb bud. She took that tissue and put it on the opposite side right beneath where
the first finger would form. The chick would develop and form a wing; the new fingers were also
copies of the normal set. Basically, the tissue (more specifically some molecule or gene inside the
tissue) was able to direct the development of the pattern of the fingers. This led to further experiments
that defined the ZPA, or the zone of polarizing activity. This patch of tissue is able to determine the
difference between the pinky side and the thumb side. 2. Describe the hedgehog gene using several

Ophelia in William Shakespeare s Hamlet Essay
Ophelia in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Follow her close, give her good watch, I pray you (IV.5.73).
Ostensibly, Shakespeare s Hamlet is the riddling, enigmatic, inscrutable theatrical character par
excellence. His motives, madness, conflicting morals and existential struggles are ambiguous to say
the least. When analysing his character, Laertes and Fortinbras are often brought in as examples of
less extreme characters dealing with similar but more tangible dilemmas. The idea that there may be
someone who exceeds Hamlet in instability and incomprehensibility is unfathomable. But if one looks
at the character of Ophelia, this notion not only becomes a viable possibility: it becomes unignorable.
For while Hamlet is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is weighed down with others expectations, and the fact that we do not hear her contemplate the

(III.2.106 141) are automatic. Resignation has become second nature.
With the lines Tis in my memory lock d,/And you yourself shall keep the key of it (I.3.85), Ophelia
surrenders all responsibility to Laertes: the image of his access to her memory is a powerful one. This,
in turn, juxtaposed against Polonius demand to possess full access to their relationship, creates a
disturbing picture of a young woman s complete lack of privacy. The very language Polonius uses,
Give me up the truth (I.3.98) implies surrender. The fact that the word truth, is used to describe what
she is meant to give up, loads the demand to breaking point.
But Ophelia is not only fenced in and loaded down. She also lacks the capacity to act, so that even if
she were released from her confines, she would be at a loss with what to do with her freedom. And
this state of precariousness is evident in her frightend reply to Polonius My lord, I do not

The History Of Sexuality, By Michel Foucault
In the History of Sexuality Vol. 1, Michel Foucault writes the body as a constructed and manipulated
agent, the locus of sociopolitical discourse and power. To Foucault, the body cannot exist before the
law (that which holds and ascribes its meaning). Similarly, sexuality cannot free itself from relations
of power (Butler 1989:603). Indeed, the body is culturally contested; it is incapable of independence
from any particular structuralized narrative. The ubiquitous yet uncertain subject of sex, as Foucault
describes, is an imaginary point, the consequence of materiality fully invested with ideas (Butler
1989:603). He writes; Nothing in man not even his body is sufficiently stable to serve as the basis for
self recognition or for understanding other men (Foucault 1980:153). The culturally constructed body
then, asserts a multitude of identities. The body is molded by distinct regimes of life, broken down by
rhythms of work, rest, and holiday uprooted by cultural significant values, habits and moral laws
(Foucault 1980:153). The legality of the body within the context of transactional sex has been a
subject of constant debate, primarily limited to a severe binary whereby the focus on decriminalization
rest upon the idea of human agency and the victimization of the body. Central to these narratives is, of
course, the female form. On one end of the spectrum, anti prostitution activists argue that women
involved in the sex trade industry are but victims of an unjust

Film Theory Aesthetics
In this essay I will be deconstructing stills from the music video, Died for Love, created for The
Unthanks within the module DE1194 and providing evidence on how it corresponds to existing film
theory. The music video shows the final moments in the life of housewife, Evelyn Raines, as she
struggles with the advancement of technology within 1969. The film explores themes of loss and
isolation as she prepares herself for death.
I will analyse the stills relating both to the abstract art form and also images that focus on realism,
showing how the piece uses multiple film methods to create and enhance the music video s narrative
whilst also discussing the meaning within the imagery and how specific techniques were used to
convey a certain message or emotion. Through the imagery, specific focuses will be made relating to
the cinematography, the use of colour and the intention of the shot, this will then be expanded into
how this is relatable with earlier and modern forms of cinema. I will also discuss how the images have
similarities to avant garde and surrealist films and whether animated characters can relate to live
action performances within film.

Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant
Fantabulous Restaurants,
It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and
me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame
exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the
grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The
next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow
catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this
restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber
Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good
restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think
about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes
any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant
that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly
Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best
bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive
qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food.

location and time and, also very importantly to share this information with relevant health

With the radiology case, the authors used real patient data collected over the past 15 years to show that
real savings could be made if patients were able to show their PHR history to every specialist, as
record shows duplication in scan exams. The authors were certain that this indicates that there is no
data integration between different health institutions. In the second use case they refer to the
importance of PHR data privacy, and how this data, if revealed to organizations like employers or
banks could compromise relationships with these institutions. The authors establish that the cloud
setup would meet all requirements extracted from those two use cases: particularly a patient s ability
to share PHR with any medical institution from any physical location and at any time, and also

The Caabans Revolt
The Cabans revolt happened due to the religious issues such as governmental concessions to the
Protestants and anti seigniorial detestation in Aix, Manosque, Sisteron, Valensole, Arles, and
Marseilles. In Provence, the majority of the country gentry remained Catholic, but Protestants
dominated in towns such as Montauban, Nîmes, Montpellier, and Castres, in the Cevennes, the
Pyrenees, and Dauphiné. Consequently, many Huguenots were murdered on the charges of conspiracy
against their towns and the whole province became the ground of infamous forces of the Porcellets.
The Catholic peasants, known as the Cabans , who had most to suffer amid this chaos, rose in turn and
made a relentless war on all upper classes of society, both the Huguenots

Abraham s Theory Of Behaviorism
Abraham Harold Maslow was born on April 1, 1908 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the first born to
his parents, Samuel and Rose Maslow. He was a lonely and unhappy Jewish boy who spent most of
his time in the library and among books as a means of comfort and refuge. However, in 1925 at the
age of 17 he enrolled at the City College of New York. In 1926, he registered for evening classes at the
Brooklyn Law School, then transferred to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1927. In 1928, he
transferred to the University of Wisconsin and earned his Bachelor, Maters and Doctorate within the
years 1930 1934. Shortly after Maslow married his longtime sweetheart and first cousin Bertha
Goodman, he had discovered J.B. Watson and his theories on behaviorism which sparked an interest in
him. However, the birth of his two daughters Anna and Ellen made him forget behaviorism. After
working for 18 months at the Columbia University he met with well known learning theorist Edward
Thorndike who sparked an interest in him that he decided to research on the relationship between
dominance and sexuality in humans. During the period 1937 1951, Abraham taught at Brooklyn
College and there continued with his research on human sexuality. He continued seeking to understand
humans, more so, Max Wertheimer and Ruth Benedick, who had great influence on him. These
influential assisted him in formulating an interest in self actualizing people. In 1951 Abraham moved
to Brandeis University and served as

Cellular Respiration Lab
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to study the relationship between cellular respiration in the
muscles, and muscle fatigue due to lactate fermentation in anaerobic respiration.
Hypothesis: If the muscles in the fingers are continuously exercised, then the number of squeezes will
constantly decrease in the dominant and non dominant hand. This is because the lactic acid will begin
forming due to the lack of oxygen present for the aerobic respiration to take place. The lactic acid
would cause the muscles to experience fatigue therefore, reducing the ability to continue the squeezing
action.
1. As the trials progressed, the strength of the muscles decreased as well because of the experienced
muscle fatigue due to the lactate threshold. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxygen debt in the muscles is reached when oxygen levels are much lower than required during
strenuous physical activity, causing lactate fermentation to occur in the cells leading to muscle fatigue.
The results found in the experiment were the number of squeezes in the first trial for the dominant and
non dominant hands were significantly higher than the remaining ones. The results also showed as the
trials continued, the number of muscle contractions decreased steadily which supported the
hypothesis. However, there were some increased numbers for the dominant hand from trial 4 to 5 and
trial 9 to 10. The non dominant hand expressed similar unexpected results from trial 6 to 7 and trial 9
and 10. The reasons for these results might be due to the finger muscles being worked at the high
intensity for a long period of time causing the muscles to consume higher amounts of oxygen thus
producing more ATP production. This would cause the muscles to create more contractions towards
the end of the trials. The unexpected results could also be caused by experimental errors such as faulty
clothespins. The springs connecting the two ends of the clothespin was tight causing the number of
contractions as the trials progressed having a more significant decrease. This is because the amount of
energy required to open and close the clothespin would be higher, causing the lactate threshold to
occur quicker. Due to this, the number of squeezes would decrease drastically as the trials progressed,
in contrast to if the springs were normal. This would change the results by the difference between the
trials not being evident therefore, not demonstrating the effects of muscle fatigue. Another factor that
altered this experiment was the participant s condition, Palmar Hyperhidrosis excessive sweating on
the palms which

Small Universities Vs Smaller Universities
Smaller Universities vs. Larger Universities Millions of students attend various universities every
semester. Some students choose to go to smaller universities because they might be close to home, and
some students decide to go with the larger ones due to the desire to be a part of the campus life or the
longing to join a sorority/fraternity; maybe they like classes that contain about 300 other peers.
Students often debate whether they should attend a smaller university or a larger university; however,
when the two are contrasted, it becomes clear that smaller universities have more opportunities
offered.
One important issue that deeply impacts a student s education are the class sizes. Bigger universities
tend to obtain classes consisting of 100 to about 600 classmates. This has the ability to negatively
affect an individual because they might be behind on a subject due to lack of understanding and are
too afraid to ask a question in front of a full class (which mostly happens because they do not want to
appear unintelligent to the other undergrads). On the other hand, if the student attended a smaller
university, the class sizes would be about 20 50 students, putting less pressure on a person to request
assistance (Hyman and Jacobs). Another concern is a professor s teaching techniques. As stated, class
sizes are a problem not only for the students, but also the professors. If the class is huge, the professor
will not be able to look at one student as an individual

Re: Loss Contingency Recognition and Reversal
Background
The company has been engaged in a dispute over a long standing litigation with W Inc. The dispute
involves a specific patent infringement matter. In May 2007, W Inc. filed a claim against the company
for patent infringement and management determined that a loss was probable and estimated it would
be between $15 million and $20 million, with $17 million being the most likely amount of loss within
the estimated range (December 31, 2007). In September 2009, a jury trial took place for the litigation
involving the company and W Inc. A verdict for the trial was reached; a judgment was ordered that ...

Issue 3
The case presents that the Court of Appeals overturned the $18.5 million judgment against the
company, but W Inc. filed a petition for a re hearing before the judges against the ruling of the
reversal.
Resolution of the uncertainty may confirm any of the following: b. the reduction of a liability... d. The
incurrence of a liability says ASC 450 10 05 5. Also, ASC 450 30 25 1 shows that A contingency that
might result in a gain usually should not be reflected in the financial statements because to do so
might be to recognize revenue before its realization. This information shows that the company can
record the reduction of the loss contingency in 2011, after the appellate judges reclined W Inc. s
rehearing because this is the resolution of uncertainty.
Conclusion
The probability that liability will occur due to the litigation meets the definition of a loss contingency
as stated in ASC 450. Hence: 1. The company will recognize $17 million as the liability for the year
ending December 31, 2007. 2. Yes, the company should adjust from the estimated amount to the actual
amount, but not in prior periods. The adjustment will be in 2009. 3. The company will record the
reversal of the liability in 2011, after the resolution of

Fences In The Barrio Summary
1. The Barrio is where low income Mexican families live and develop social relations with others
around them. It is a safe haven for many Mexican families even though it is very run down and lacks
certain necessities. The streets of the barrio are poorly paved and it even has a makeshift barbershop in
someone s living room. This, however, does not deter families from becoming close with each other.
While in the barrio, families forget about their hardships and gather together to celebrate what they do
have. Their gatherings usually take place on their front porches or in their brightly colored gardens. 2.
The difference between the fences in the barrio and in the Anglo community are that in the Anglo
community, fences are designed to keep people out where as in the barrio, they are more or less there
for decoration. The Anglo community has thick, impenetrable walls, built to keep the neighbors at bay,
which gives off the impression that visitors are not welcome. On the other hand, fences in the barrio
are rusty, wire contraptions or thick green shrubs, which give off more of a welcoming feeling. In the
barrio, neighbors do not feel any sense of intrusion when you cross them. Anglo fences do not allow
for friendly encounters with neighbors. 3. In Ramirez s view, economic need creates interdependence
and closeness. In the barrio, when you are poor, which most of the residence are, you will do anything
to help your family out, even if you are a kid. Children in the

Exploratory Job
What exploratory shop did I find most interesting? For me it was a close tie between culinary and
business, with the former being slightly more interesting due to the hands on elements of shop.
Because I was interested in both shops, I decided to research a career which has elements of both:
food service management. This field combines aspects of business with the culinary arts, making it an
attractive option for someone like me.
So what does a food service manager do? In short, they manage the entire restaurant. Typical
obligations include employee management, food/supply procurement, equipment inspection, financial
record keeping, and complaint address. Other duties including overseeing food preparation,
scheduling, and establishing personnel and customer service standards also fall on a food service
manager. To fulfill all these jobs, most food service managers work long shifts for 40 hours a week or
more, usually at a fine dining restaurants or fast food establishments. Although they ... Show more

There is a projected growth of employment of 5% in the next 8 years, as population growth elevates
the demand for various places to dine out. Advancement in the field is also possible, as an individual
gains more experience, they have a greater likelihood of being employed at an upscale restaurant.
However, in an effort to save costs, many of these establishments will hire less employees as time
goes on, and consequently fewer food service managers.
So how will culinary help me advance my career goals? Taking the shop will provide me with a
valuable introduction to restaurant basics. With the skills I learn I will then be able to get hired in a
restaraunt, and accumulate work experience before eventually becoming a food service manager. And
if I can successfully become a food service manager, I will have a career that combines both my
interest in the culinary arts and

Environmental Psychology Research Methods
Summary
In this study conducted by Megan J. Bissing Olsoni, Aarti Iyer, Kelly S. Fielding and Hannes Zacher,
a survey/diary design was used to examine the relationship of pro environmental behavior, employees
daily affect, pro environmental attitude, daily task related pro environmental behavior, and daily
proactive pro environmental behavior. There were 56 participants in the study and they were all
employed in small businesses. The surveys were done twice daily, after the initial baseline survey was
conducted. Surveys were taken only on workdays, concluding on the tenth work day. The authors had
various hypotheses concerning the effects of daily un activated positive affect and pro environmental
attitude, and if they would predict daily task related pro environmental behavior, as well how daily
activated positive affect would predict daily proactive pro environmental behavior among employees.
The findings were positive in their majority of their hypotheses. The findings propose that the
encouragement of pro environmental attitudes and, to a lesser extent, positive affect among
employees, my aide organizations in the promotion of pro environmental behavior while at work.
Research Method The research method used in the study was survey, in the form of a diary study
where the participants were asked to fill out a survey twice a day for the length of ten workdays. This
was started after the participants were given the initial

Significance Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald portrays Gatsby as the character that does not experience a dramatic
change; to the end of the novel, Gatsby still believes that Daisy will return to him despite the fact that
he lost her five years ago. Once Gatsby reunites with Daisy at Nick s house for tea he comes to the
realization that the colossal significance of [the green] light had now vanished forever... Now it was
again a green light on a dock (Fitzgerald 110). The green light for Gatsby is a sense of security;
because the green light is a tangible object, Gatsby is able to go out on his dock and reach out for the
light. When Gatsby reaches out; he is able to reach out and hold onto his hope for Daisy as if reaching
out will keep his relationship from drifting farther and farther away. Colossal shows how large the
importance of the green light is; is not a minor importance; it essentially becomes Gatsby s life, he is
obsessed with the light s symbolism. Fitzgerald is showing that Daisy essentially is the green light; as

Interpreting The Purpose Of The Constitution In The UK
Unlike many nations across the globe, Britain lacks a codified or a written constitution. Britain relies
on unwritten court judgements, conventions and acts of parliament as the constitution. According to
Packman, the constitution is a system of beliefs and laws that a nation uses to govern. However, most
people across the globe do not consider the UK to have a constitution. Yet, in reality, UK does have a
constitution the only difference is that its constitution is found in an abstract form consisting of
diverse conventions and practices laws, which have evolved over the years. In fact, the key milestone
of UK constitution entails the 1689 Bill of rights. Thus, in the comparative sense, UK has an
unmodified Constitution remembering the constitutional laws in the UK are derived from Acts of
Parliament, law reports, or court judgments. In essence, the unwritten status of the British constitution
gives it its distinguishing feature of the constitution.
Importance of constitutional principles
In regard to British Constitution, the aspect of separation of power is not supreme. For instance, the
three arms of the government are founded under the article of United States Constitution, which give
these arms distinct and essential power roles within the federal government. Basically, the key
objective of having three arms of government is to allow separation of power hence avoid
concentration of power to one branch of government. The U.S. Constitution states that the powers of

  • 2. Explication of Wallace Stevens Snowman Wallace Stevens explores the perception of a January winter scene in his poem The Snow Man. The poem occurs over the space of five unrhymed stanzas, three lines each, and is contained to a single, deceptively simple sentence. Within this sentence, semicolons split up the viewer s actions as the speaker expands on the necessities of the scenery. Rather than that which is perceived, it is the act of perception on which the poem focuses, and passive verbs predominantly characterize this central action, imposing conditions on the viewer and the winter scene which is viewed. In this way, the poem is concerned with unification of time and distance, organizing a single instance of perception into multiple actions as the viewer s mind and body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the peak of winter, trees are shagged with ice, having sat in one place for the duration of the season. The mind of winter which regards the scene is therefore required to have sat still alongside the scenery, and so the adjectives describing the trees should be read as interchangeable with those describing the viewer. In the sense that trees with rough textures are made rougher by the frost, the onslaught of winter only reinforces what was already an aspect of nature, unifying what has been and what is. Though trees may take on an organic, shifting quality as they continue to grow, the junipers and spruces of this poem, already prickly harsh, are frozen in these perpetual states by the cold. Junipers, harsh trees meant to last through the winter, are shagged with ice, so that the ice only exaggerates what was already true about the texture of these trees. The same is true of the following line, in which spruces are made rough in the distant glitter, enforcing the preexisting nature of evergreens, as they remain the same throughout the year. The second stanza spills into the third without punctuation to create a pause. The space between the two stanzas seems to reinforce the distance of the distant glitter // of the January sun, which puts an end to the second sub act of perception, as there is a semicolon after sun. In explicitly citing the month, the speaker has at the beginning of the third stanza finally grounded the poem in a specific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Hippocampus Introduction: The OED defines multitasking as dealing with more than one task at the same time. The brain, in order to multitask, must receive both actions being performed, and dilute the information before processing. In order to read and listen to something at the same time, for an example, the brain must take the information being read by the eyes and the pulses coming from the ears, and reduce the frequency to keep both tasks going efficiently. The hippocampus is part of the limbic system that controls the emotions and autonomic nervous system. The hippocampus controls long term and short term memory. The River From Eden, By Charles Darwin One of the most well known atheists evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins who order to explain the existence of the universe and emergence of life on Earth. Today, many scientist firmly believe that the universe was created approximately when infinitely small and dense point known as singularity started expanding 14 billion years ago. Fine tuned expansion unleashed the beginning of the time and space itself. Our Earth formed some 4 or 5 billion years ago, and the first living single organisms appeared in water roughly 0.5 1.5 billions years after its existence.(35, Theism, Atheism, and Big Bang Cosmology). Over the millions of years they began to evolve from the single celled organism into ultimately the most advanced form of life, human through the process of natural selection. The term was popularized by Charles Darwin in 1859 to explain how animals change to adapt to the environment for survival. Richard Dawkins states in his book The River From Eden , Genetic code is in fact literally identical in all animals, plants, and bacteria that have ever been looked at. All earthly living things are descended from a single ancestor. From a molecular point of, all animals are pretty close relatives of one another and even of plants (12). With the support of characterization and diction, O Flaherty describes the setting in a way that gives off depressing, suspenseful and pessimistic images; showing that war is an awful thing. Perfectly demonstrated religious tolerance does not mean agreeing with someone s views, but instead tolerating them, if it causes no hurt toward others. Acting intolerantly of another ideas does not include speaking about one s own ideas, but instead of hating and persecuting others because of their ideas. Beautifully is religious tolerance demonstrated by the characters of Chaim Potock s classic, The Chosen. The Characters who demonstrate religious tolerance include David Malter, Reb Saunders, and Reuven Malter. Monopoly structured market is when there is a single provided product with no close substitutions. As opposed, to a monopoly, a pure competition market is an aspect in which multiple companies offer identical or close to the same products, which will compete with price and quality, and in some case costumer service. Additionally in contrast, oligopoly is a market structure where there are a few firms producing all or most of the market supply of a particular good or service and whose decisions about the industry s output can affect competitors. Piety and its Role in Powerful Positions During the period of early Arab conquests, massive transformations were taking place as a new great confessional empire was emerging. During this time many conflicts and questions arose. Who is the rightful Caliph once the prophet Muhammad dies? What makes a good Caliph? What is to be done with the non Muslims? What does it mean to be a Muslim? One of the major themes that arose from these questions was the importance of being pious when holding some form of power, whether political or military. Primary sources demonstrate how this theme has come to fruition, such as in a letter to the Caliph Umar II, and Tabari s The History of Prophet s and Kings. The letter to Caliph Umar II is important in developing the role of religious devotion in connection to holding power because it starts to question what exactly the role of the Caliph is. It seems by this letter that the role of the Caliph is not just to be a political head for the conquered land of the Caliphate, but they also need to be a religious leader as well. An important part of being that religious head is being pious, to demonstrate to others how to fully become devout and submit to God. The writer, Hasan al Basri, in this letter is asking the Caliph to do away with luxury and go back to the simpler times because it is dangerous to dally in decadence. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights to the principles of the Constitution and the values of this country. Johnson also briefly spoke of the bill he planned to present in the coming week. This bill would ensure that African Americans can freely exercise their Constitutional right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos, logos, and pathos, but was also very successful in its overall purpose, an argument that no American citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but still very powerful. Johnson s credibility simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States of America. Temporary Work Growth In Canada Ever since Canada suffered a recession (temporary economic decline due to the reduced industrial and trade activity), temporary employment in Canada has grown more rapidly and people are finding it hard to find permanent jobs. Temporary work growth has grown three times faster than permanent employment between 2009 and 2012, and most of the temporary work growth has occurred within the young people. Positively, being in temporary work can lead to permanent work and can make one more flexible, which mostly benefits the young people in the workforce. • 23. My Totem Pole Essay My Totem Pole A totem pole is a tall log carved mainly by the indigenous people of Alaska and British Columbia. The poles tell stories that have been passed down from generation to generation as legends and myths. However, that is not the only type of totem pole, there are totems that tell the carver s history, their family s history and some are even used to honor the dead. Additionally, some totem poles were made to show respect to an important tribal member. Totem poles feature animals and symbols, chosen by the carver to represent themselves, another person, or an event. I have chosen to construct a totem pole to represent my qualities and personality. My totem pole will feature a deer, a fox, a monkey, and a cat. For my first totem animal, I have chosen the deer. I chose this animal because I am quiet when I am around people I don t know. Also, the deer is said to be helpful and not knowingly hurt anything, well, I try to be helpful and I don t try to hurt anybody that I care about. • 24. Redemption And The Karmic Cycle Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. Every living being on this planet has flaws, has made errors and has committed sins. It is just to say that life has no favourites, and metes out punishment to anybody who commits mistakes. People eventually pay for their acts of sin. So, why is it that some people are able to make peace with their past mistakes and graciously welcome the life they have in front of them? The answer to this is redemption. Redemption is the second chance life gives us, to atone for our sins, mend our faults and change our story. It is up to every individual how he or she wants to perceive this rare opportunity given by life. This resonates with the philosophy of the karmic cycle. According to renowned mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik, Hindu mythology sees destinations as merely an individual s choice. For a person who believes there is life after death, death is merely an artificial milestone. What is natural, however is action. Every action has a reaction, consequences of which are both short lived and long term. Karma is both the action and the reaction, the cause and the consequence, the stimulus and the ... • 25. How Does Involvement Can Make Products Differentiate From... Part 1 Involvement Involvement has for the last decades been an important topic within marketing, and especially when discussing consumer behaviour. This essay aims to explain different types of involvement, using real life examples to illustrate the concepts. Competitors will always be competitors, so this essay will also highlight how involvement can make products differentiate from them. Lastly, a few other theories relevant to involvement are lightly discussed. Relating involvement with motivation Involvement and motivations go hand in hand when it comes to purchasing decisions. It may by low involvement, and it may be high. The same goes for the level of motivation. Elements that acts as a bridge between the two are emotion and knowledge. When emotions arise, emotional states are activated. To reduce or prevent unpleasant emotions, marketers use emotion reduction. One theory that talks about motives (the reason behind motivation to purchase) is the McGuire s physical motives model. It talks about consumers need for consistency, the need to determine who/what causes things, the need to categorize information and the need for observable cues or symbols (Quester et al 2014). The message in the advertising has a lot to say on whether the consumer is motivated or not to purchase. The individual s interest in the ad topic decides the level of involvement and motivation of buying it because more attention is given. Sports fans are more likely to read or pay attention to ads ... Mary Seacole is praised in both sources 1 and 2, but in source 3 it seems that Nightingale disagrees in terms of her method of helping the men, although she did some good. Source 1 and 2 both agree that she was a great help but for different reasons. Source 1 is agreeing to this mainly because of the fact that it is written by Sir John Hall who I Head of the Army Medical Services and we know that Seacole was rejected by all hospitals, and he would not want to write about declining one of the most loved and charitable woman in Britain at the time, especially throughout the army, the assistance she gave them, made her beloved by the rank ... Similarly source 3 also mentions no doubt she did some good but in this case it is begrudging praise from Nightingale, and we know she s being honest because it is a letter that she instructed her brother in law to burn after being read, so we get an accurate view of Nightingale s opinion. This source is linked to the other 2 sources because it is at the time which Seacole was getting a rapturous reception and in the other sources Seacole is getting praise but also all three sources state somewhere in their content that she did help the men in the Crimea. Source 3 has both fragments of agreement and disagreement and it differs from the other sources because it doesn t completely agree with the other 2 sources and it can be seen as an emotionally charged letter, as Seacole is getting so much praise in England, so it could suggest she s jealous of the reception she s receiving back in England. As well as this it seems that she is the odd one out, because everyone else has a huge love for Seacole apart from her. Nightingale also adds criticisms to her methods of helping the men as she calls Seacole s hotel a bad house and she says that she introduced much drunkenness and improper conduct which could be showing her jealousy as she dismisses the fact that she helps the men, but she is ery picky on her methods. • 29. Theme Of Choices In A Rose For Emily And Hills Like White... In life, everyone has choices that can determine their future. There are always two choices in life, one that will leave people not regretting their decision and another that will always make an individual second guess the choice they made. Choices do not just happen to real people they can also happen to characters in pieces of literature. In every story, short or long, the reader gets an understanding of the characters and the situation(s) they are in. In A Rose for Emily and Hills like White Elephants the characters in these stories the characters make decisions that change their lives. The author conveys the theme of choices can take people s lives in different directions by using symbolism, imagery, and oppression of women. Faulkner, the author of A Rose for Emily uses symbolism through the entire story to help convey the theme. An example of symbolism would be Emily Garrison s house. The house is a very old pre civil war house which during the time Emily s father was alive it was a very nice and prestigious house. Her house helps the development of the theme by being a symbol for an older generation. Emily Garrison is stuck in the past and does not want to accept that times have changed and her house is a good representation of that. Her house never changes and it never does in the story because Emily makes the choice to not go on with the times which helps allude to the theme. In the story Hills like White Elephants by author also uses symbolism. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Describe at least one of these experiments and explain the significance of the findings. In one of the experiments, Mary Gasseling took a little patch of tissue, early in development, from what would be the pinky side of a limb bud. She took that tissue and put it on the opposite side right beneath where the first finger would form. The chick would develop and form a wing; the new fingers were also copies of the normal set. Basically, the tissue (more specifically some molecule or gene inside the tissue) was able to direct the development of the pattern of the fingers. This led to further experiments that defined the ZPA, or the zone of polarizing activity. This patch of tissue is able to determine the difference between the pinky side and the thumb side. 2. Ostensibly, Shakespeare s Hamlet is the riddling, enigmatic, inscrutable theatrical character par excellence. The very language Polonius uses, Give me up the truth (I.3.98) implies surrender. The fact that the word truth, is used to describe what she is meant to give up, loads the demand to breaking point. • 35. The History Of Sexuality, By Michel Foucault In the History of Sexuality Vol. 1, Michel Foucault writes the body as a constructed and manipulated agent, the locus of sociopolitical discourse and power. To Foucault, the body cannot exist before the law (that which holds and ascribes its meaning). Similarly, sexuality cannot free itself from relations of power (Butler 1989:603). Indeed, the body is culturally contested; it is incapable of independence from any particular structuralized narrative. The ubiquitous yet uncertain subject of sex, as Foucault describes, is an imaginary point, the consequence of materiality fully invested with ideas (Butler 1989:603). He writes; Nothing in man not even his body is sufficiently stable to serve as the basis for self recognition or for understanding other men (Foucault 1980:153). The culturally constructed body then, asserts a multitude of identities. The body is molded by distinct regimes of life, broken down by rhythms of work, rest, and holiday uprooted by cultural significant values, habits and moral laws (Foucault 1980:153). The legality of the body within the context of transactional sex has been a subject of constant debate, primarily limited to a severe binary whereby the focus on decriminalization rest upon the idea of human agency and the victimization of the body. Central to these narratives is, of course, the female form. The film explores themes of loss and isolation as she prepares herself for death. Cellular Respiration Lab Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to study the relationship between cellular respiration in the muscles, and muscle fatigue due to lactate fermentation in anaerobic respiration. Hypothesis: If the muscles in the fingers are continuously exercised, then the number of squeezes will constantly decrease in the dominant and non dominant hand. This is because the lactic acid will begin forming due to the lack of oxygen present for the aerobic respiration to take place. The lactic acid would cause the muscles to experience fatigue therefore, reducing the ability to continue the squeezing action. 1. As the trials progressed, the strength of the muscles decreased as well because of the experienced muscle fatigue due to the lactate threshold. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oxygen debt in the muscles is reached when oxygen levels are much lower than required during strenuous physical activity, causing lactate fermentation to occur in the cells leading to muscle fatigue. The results found in the experiment were the number of squeezes in the first trial for the dominant and non dominant hands were significantly higher than the remaining ones. The results also showed as the trials continued, the number of muscle contractions decreased steadily which supported the hypothesis. However, there were some increased numbers for the dominant hand from trial 4 to 5 and trial 9 to 10. The non dominant hand expressed similar unexpected results from trial 6 to 7 and trial 9 and 10. The reasons for these results might be due to the finger muscles being worked at the high intensity for a long period of time causing the muscles to consume higher amounts of oxygen thus producing more ATP production. This would cause the muscles to create more contractions towards the end of the trials. The unexpected results could also be caused by experimental errors such as faulty clothespins. The springs connecting the two ends of the clothespin was tight causing the number of contractions as the trials progressed having a more significant decrease. This is because the amount of energy required to open and close the clothespin would be higher, causing the lactate threshold to occur quicker. Due to this, the number of squeezes would decrease drastically as the trials progressed, in contrast to if the springs were normal. This would change the results by the difference between the trials not being evident therefore, not demonstrating the effects of muscle fatigue. Some students choose to go to smaller universities because they might be close to home, and some students decide to go with the larger ones due to the desire to be a part of the campus life or the longing to join a sorority/fraternity; maybe they like classes that contain about 300 other peers. Students often debate whether they should attend a smaller university or a larger university; however, when the two are contrasted, it becomes clear that smaller universities have more opportunities offered. One important issue that deeply impacts a student s education are the class sizes. Bigger universities tend to obtain classes consisting of 100 to about 600 classmates. This has the ability to negatively affect an individual because they might be behind on a subject due to lack of understanding and are too afraid to ask a question in front of a full class (which mostly happens because they do not want to appear unintelligent to the other undergrads). On the other hand, if the student attended a smaller university, the class sizes would be about 20 50 students, putting less pressure on a person to request assistance (Hyman and Jacobs). Another concern is a professor s teaching techniques. As stated, class sizes are a problem not only for the students, but also the professors. If the class is huge, the professor will not be able to look at one student as an individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, ASC 450 30 25 1 shows that A contingency that might result in a gain usually should not be reflected in the financial statements because to do so might be to recognize revenue before its realization. This information shows that the company can record the reduction of the loss contingency in 2011, after the appellate judges reclined W Inc. s rehearing because this is the resolution of uncertainty. Conclusion The probability that liability will occur due to the litigation meets the definition of a loss contingency as stated in ASC 450. Hence: 1. The company will recognize $17 million as the liability for the year ending December 31, 2007. 2. • 44. Fences In The Barrio Summary 1. The Barrio is where low income Mexican families live and develop social relations with others around them. It is a safe haven for many Mexican families even though it is very run down and lacks certain necessities. The streets of the barrio are poorly paved and it even has a makeshift barbershop in someone s living room. This, however, does not deter families from becoming close with each other. While in the barrio, families forget about their hardships and gather together to celebrate what they do have. Their gatherings usually take place on their front porches or in their brightly colored gardens. 2. The difference between the fences in the barrio and in the Anglo community are that in the Anglo community, fences are designed to keep people out where as in the barrio, they are more or less there for decoration. The Anglo community has thick, impenetrable walls, built to keep the neighbors at bay, which gives off the impression that visitors are not welcome. On the other hand, fences in the barrio are rusty, wire contraptions or thick green shrubs, which give off more of a welcoming feeling. In the barrio, neighbors do not feel any sense of intrusion when you cross them. Anglo fences do not allow for friendly encounters with neighbors. 3. In Ramirez s view, economic need creates interdependence and closeness. In the barrio, when you are poor, which most of the residence are, you will do anything to help your family out, even if you are a kid. Children in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
