Recently this week, we ve been discussing perception and how it impacts the way we communicate in
our daily lives. Interestingly enough, this episode of COMMPENDIUM hosted by Professor Stephen
Stifano focused on this subject and its attributes. Our guest star featured is Sara Picklesimer, a
University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the University of
Connecticut in the field of communication. She was born in Pinesville, Kentucky, and started off as a
biology major before realizing her passion was communication after taking her first public speaking
course. Despite being a shy and reserved individual, Ms. Picklesimer found that she actually enjoyed
and was surprisingly good at this field. She now teaches a gender and communication course here at
the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music and a variety of other aspects in
relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two primary topics related to perception:
thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in which we communicate.

When looking at a piece of literature, reviewing it may be difficult to do in an overall sense. Seeing as
there are endless aspects to a good work of literature, trying to review one on this general basis may
be unfair to the work itself. Due to the complexity of literature, and human nature s love for
categorization, we started looking at pieces of literature through critical lenses . The lenses help us
narrow down the aspects of our criticism, effectively categorizing them. For example, there are four
main critical lenses: Marxist, Feminist, Psychoanalytical, and Archetypal. Each of the four has a
unique set of aspects it analyzes, but all have one thing in common, they help find the underlying
themes and/or motivations behind the text, whether they were intentional or not. One classic example

I Want For My Math Exam
It s been 3 weeks since the school year started. I go to class as usual, I do homework as usual, I take
tests as usual. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. Or rather, nothing would have seemed out of the

look up from my test and scan the room. Everyone seems equally as invested in the test in front of

The two main actions that the United States government issued towards the Plains Indians were the
Homestead Act and the Dawes Act. The Homestead Act correlated with the trend of Manifest Destiny
