Achilles In The Odyssey
Achilles refused extra service, and therefore the Greeks were very defeated because Achilles allowed
Patroclus to come like him, giving him his car and his weapons. Hector (King Priam s first son of
Troy) killed Patroclus, and Achilles, who eventually joined Agamemnon, received new weapons from
Hephaestus and killed Hector. After hitting the body of Hector behind his car, Achilles gave Priam to
his hard request. Iliad has ceased with the Hector funeral ceremony. It does not mention the death of
Achilles, though the Odyssey says its funeral. Poetry Arctinus in his Ethiopia gathered the story of
Iliad and explained that Achilles, after killing the Emperor Memnon and the Amazoni Penthedonian,
was killed in the battle with the son of Priam, Paris, whose arrow was led by Apollo.
The final reporters involved with Peleus, after receiving orders according to which his son died while
fighting Troy, sent Achilles to the Lycomedes court in Scyrus, where he was dressed as a woman and
was preserved among the daughters of the king which Deïdamia, Neoptolemus. Listening to the

Comparison Of Betty Neuman s Systems Model
Comparison Assignment
Betty Neuman s systems model is a systems theory that emphasizes the importance of the complex
and ongoing interactions among all subsystems of an individual (Hood, 2014, p.128). Neuman s
systems model focuses on decreasing external, internal, and environmental factors that could
adversely affect an individual. Furthermore, Neuman s system model explains that these stressors can
cause a specific response and a unique reaction that consequently wears off the defense lines that
protect the person s inner core and preserve their health and well being (Hood, 2014, p.131). In
contrast, Callista Roy s adaption model is a stress/adaption theory based on the premise that human
response can adapt and change in terms of accommodation (Hood, 2014, p. 133). Roy s adaption
model explains that human response to stimuli is dictated by the individual s adaptive modes, type of
stimuli they were confronted by, level of adaption, and ability to cope (Hood, 2014). Moreover, as
Hood (2014) states, a person s adaption level is determined by its response to a combination of focal,
contextual, and residual stimuli.
While Roy s adaption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that both theorists targeted goals aim to decrease adverse stressors and unwanted
stimuli through interventions that enable a patient to maintain optimal health by means of positive
coping and prompt identification of stressor, their means to attain patient s goal are a somehow
dissimilar. Neuman s system model interventions are targeted towards primary, secondary, or tertiary
prevention (Hood, 2014, p. 168) with the aim to fortify the person s lines of defense. Although, Roy s
adaption model interventions are also aimed to improve coping mechanisms and to reduce stressors,
they are specific to the improving adaption modes and optimizing adaption levels of the individual due
to the combination of stressors such as focal, contextual, and residual (Hood,

New People Theme Of Identity
In her latest novel, Danzy Senna dives deep into the territory of love, race, identity, heritage, and
privilege, revealing the harsh reality of growing up in America with two different ethnicities. Danzy
Senna s New People defines the social complexities of having and understanding a full identity of one
s own and what it means to pass as one race or another through it s conflicted and anti heroine of a
character and discouraging setting.
Maria s struggle with identity is foremost throughout the novel. Her appearance is misleading from
her actual ethnicity, which she has trouble coming to terms with. This theme accentuates the idea that
people base judgments off of looks rather than the truth. This can build the question of who can pass
for what? . It gives Maria the chance to assimilate with white culture while not actually being white. It
s no question that she feels like a stranger in her own home, an alien in her own body due to the
confusion of not knowing who she really is.. It s also clear she feels the need to gain social
acceptance, but she doesn t know how the people want her to be to obtain it. Maria can t seem to grasp
the idea of living as just her and keeps yearning for the simplicity of being just one race. Her
separation from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same mindset in the people then is still obvious in the people today. Identity is still being searched
for, racial controversy still impedes the thoughts of many, and the same stereotypical mentality is still
alive just as much today as it was then. Maria knew better than to see the world as just black and
white, but she still can t help to see it in that binary. She desires to look the part of her black heritage,
but judges any other person of a mixed race who wants the same. Ironically enough, she develops a
conventional vision of the world where everything is simple and

girls today usually like to be confidential about the personal effects in their life. As they grow older
they start to keep more and more secrets. Underage girls cannot always do things without their parent
s approval. It can be rules around the house or federal rules. For example, not being able to access
birth control at a young age. In most cases it is a 50/50 decision. People do not always agree with that,

Most teens do not like talking to their parents about sex or anything in that matter. Everyone knows
that they are going to do it anyways, so they need to have access to proper protection. This preference
can also keep down teen pregnancy. Now and days young girls end up getting pregnant because they
are scared to talk their parents about birth control. Another reason young teens should be able to
access birth control without consent is because is not just for sex. It helps with girl s periods, cramps,
acne, and more. This recommendation shows how teens can be more responsible at a younger age.On
the other hand, there are many reasons teens should not have consent to birth control underage. Today
young girls think that means a free pass. Just because they get on birth control does not mean they
cannot end up pregnant. They also must realize that there are STD s and birth control does not control
that. Teens should be definitely saving themselves for marriage or at least to where they are of age.
Some parents are religions and would be furious if they knew their underage teen was able to access
birth control without having to go through them first. Many parents today feel as if they already have
extremely little power in their child s privacy when it comes to decisions like this. If a teen is not

Self-Identity And Self Identity
Self identity is molded as a young age, but continues to change as we get older. This is something that
we all do not realize. During a person s lifetime many of us pause to think what influence a person s
identity. What makes us the individual that we are? I would say that it is our home, where we live with
our parents and siblings. Why do we have trust in certain things? Why do we believe the way we do? I
would say it is based on the way we were taught and raised a set of opinions that have been instilled in
a person since they were young. I would say that their three great influences in my life that makes me
who I am today my parents, my religion and my culture. Upbringing it has molded me into who I am
today. Since I was growing up my parents taught me about showing respect to everyone especially our
superiors. My parents always taught us that being a good citizen in your community always identifies
the individual as a good person. My parents taught us that when two adults are having a conversation
to never interrupt. When someone was talking and if you needed to walk through you would say
excuse me. Never stealing what does not belong to you. Helping a person out when they do not have a
place to stay. How to have patience with other people and learning that sometimes the best thing to do
is just to be quiet. An example I can say that I went through as I was growing up I was 10 years old
when we had several family members move in to live with us and this is where

Theme Of Isolation In Countee Cullen s Poem
At times many individuals feel isolated and disconnected with society. Literary works by Countee
Cullen, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Robert Frost depicts an individual s isolationism and alienation
within society. In Countee Cullen s poem Incident , the speaker tells of a distant flashback of how they
first handly experienced being called out a derogatory name from the lips of an eight year old. In
Langston Hughes I, Too , the speaker expresses their witful sentiments in being forced to eat in the
kitchen, because they are seemed to be as a lesser human from their skin tone. In Claude McKay s
poem If We Must Die , the speaker rallies a heartfelt message to his supporters to continue fighting for
their cause, so their death would not be in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McKay uses simile in If We Must Die to show how and make readers feel a sense of isolation when
individuals are constantly tormented to discourage them from being accepted in society. In the poem,
the speaker valiantly expresses their desires to fight to the very end, as their enemies hunt them like a
pack of savage dogs, all the while cornering them into submission and death. The speaker says, If we
must die, let it not be like hogs/ Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,/ While round us bark the
mad and hungry dogs,/ Making their mock at our accursed lot (page 19). The speaker compares
himself and his group of supporters as hogs, making a statement to not be hunted and to be killed like
cattle. The speaker also compares the mad and hungry dogs as the other offending party tormenting
the speaker and his supporters. The overall message the speaker is trying to make is that, if the speaker
is going to die, he d rather not die like a cattle who is cornered by the mad dogs , which represents the
people in the society who are not accepting of the speaker nor his supporters. This is inferred as how
the speaker is chased out by the other offending party, showing a connection to how the speaker is
being alienated because he does not have a place in society. The people in the society, also referred to
as mad dogs are chasing him out and

Implementation And Reporting For Hedge Accounting Essay
Research Memorandum
To: CEO, Thomas Foods
From:
Date: December 12, 2015
RE: Implementation and Reporting for Hedge Accounting
Facts:
Thomas Foods wishes to insulate the company from the financial blow of large increases in the prices
of produce from local farmers. The main factor that would cause this unexpected change in price that
Thomas Foods should be concerned with is the possible fluctuation of weather conditions. Thomas
Foods is interested in determining whether or not hedge accounting would be the best solution to
protect the company s operating income. If the company elects to implement a hedge accounting
system, the Controller of the company must be informed of the accounting treatments involved when
dealing with cash flow and fair value hedge accounting, the two most common forms of hedge
accounting.
Issues:
1. Will implementing a hedging strategy help to alleviate the risks of price increases and benefit
Thomas Foods financially when it comes to purchasing produce from local farmers?
2. Which hedge accounting strategy or alternative method will be most beneficial to Thomas Foods
and ensure minimal loss in operating income?
3. How can the accounting treatments of the newly implemented strategy be best explained to the
Controller of Thomas Foods?
Conclusions:
1. Hedge accounting strategies are best implemented when dealing with transactions from the original
source. In this particular situation, the local farmer would be considered the original source because he

Comparing The Tell-Tale Heart And The Surrealist Movement
Have you ever seen a murdering airplane, a melting clock or a lobster telephone? Although these are
nonsensical statements, each was featured in very famous pieces of art of the time, know as Surrealist
Movement. The Surrealist Movement was a creative effort to establish a new style. As a way to
diverge from previous writing and artistic norms, artists began to use the idea of the unconscious mind
and their own dreams as a way to better exemplify one s own imagination and mind. Artist and writer
would show how their mind worked through their work and freely. In The Persistence of Memory by
Salvador Dali, melting clocks are depicted on a desert landscape. In The Tell Tale Heart , by Edgar
Allan Poe, the narrator recounts the time he murders an old man because of his eye. Edgar Allan Poe
and Salvador Dali were significant people during their time and were monumental to show other
writers and artist to not restrict their creativity. Furthermore, The Persistence of Memory was created
during the Surrealist Movement and became a very popular piece of artwork. On the other hand, The
Tell Tale Heart was written when Romantic writing was popular. Although these two works do not
directly relate, they share common aspects. Furthermore, in the works The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar ...

The Demand For Cost Containment
The demand for cost containment, the growth of purchaser influence, the decline trend in inpatient
utilization, and the demands of managed care organizations for efficiency, cost containment,
coordination of services, and accountability for service outcomes has changed hospitals strategic
planning. Hospitals need to reconfigure and reorganize their health service delivery in order to meet
the demands of managed care. To make their organization attractive to the managed care industry,
system integration strategies began to emerge such as horizontal and vertical integration (Sultz Young,
2009, p. 103).
Horizontal Integration
System integration is called horizontal when hospitals buy other hospitals to become multihospital
system (Wolper, 2011, p. 78). Horizontal integration provides many benefits to the hospitals: (a)
increased access to capital markets, (b) reduction in duplication of services, (c) economies of scale, (d)
improved productivity and operating efficiencies, (e) access to management expertise, (f) increased
personnel benefits including career mobility, recruitment, and retention, (g) improved patient access
through geographical integration or various level of care, (h) improvement in quality through
increased volume of services for specialized personnel, and (i) increased political power to deal with
planning, regulation , and reimbursement issues (Wolper, 2011, p. 79). The benefit of horizontal

Essay about Nationalist Ideas in the Middle East
Nationality is the desire of a group of people to preserve or obtain common statehood and the ideology
stressing loyalty to the nation state or seeking independence of a national group. Michel Aflaq,

establishing nationalism, however each movement and charter wishes to establish a national identity

ideas on Arab nationalism through the Arab Baath party, which entails the establishment of an Arab

Recently this week, we ve been discussing perception and how it impacts the way we communicate in
our daily lives. Interestingly enough, this episode of COMMPENDIUM hosted by Professor Stephen

University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the University of

course. Despite being a shy and reserved individual, Ms. Picklesimer found that she actually enjoyed
and was surprisingly good at this field. She now teaches a gender and communication course here at
the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music and a variety of other aspects in
relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two primary topics related to perception:
thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in which we communicate.
Professor Stifano mentioned some of the foundations of perception that we have discussed in our

effectively and making decisions, and what make up perception. We learned that perception is

Media Influence On Marijuana
Whether by exit/entrance, in person, internet, or telephone, over time, political polls have been used
by mass media outlets to strategically create interest groups and objectively measure public opinion.
Political scientist, V.O. Key, Jr., described public opinion as those opinions held by private persons
which government finds it prudent to head. The media relies on polls the right amount because it s
only a general sample and doesn t include every potential factor such as question ambiguity, non
response, and non attitudes. In addition, as discussed in lecture, many citizens are unconnected,
uninformed, or inconsistent in their ideologies. Given these potential errors, the media s use of polls
has a mixed effect. On one hand, polls are able to keep audiences updated in public opinion and

In discussion, we attributed its popularity to medicinal marijuana, cultural influences (music and
television), and educational progression on its effects. I am confident in the data presented because of
its demographical breakdown. Men were more likely to support marijuana legalization over women;
democrats were more supportive than republicans, and younger people and medicinal marijuana users
were highly in support of legalization. CBS News uses this poll in order to explain how progressive
Americans have felt toward marijuana over the years. As mentioned in the introduction, many
Americans were uninformed on the effects of marijuana from the 1970s up to the 2000s. In addition to
that notion, since 1997, the percentage of Americans who had not tried marijuana decreased from 65%
to 56%, meaning many Americans based their opinion off environmental influences. I feel this article
provided ample evidence that conveys to its audience that the perception on marijuana has completely

Violent Video Games Essay
The Case for Violent Video Games Video Games have been a source of fun and enjoyment for many
people, whether they are kids or adults. Violent video games are the most popular types of video
games. Many young gamers are quite obsessed over these games. Recently violent video games
(VVGs) have been accused of being the source to many mass shootings in the world, accused of
corrupting the minds of young gamers. This is wrong. Violent Behavior in Video Games Violent video
games are blamed for being linked to levels of aggression. Many people believe VVGs raise levels of
aggression; however, studies show that belief is false. Although VVGs have violent content, it does
not coincide with the levels of aggression being increased. Ratings for VVGs have regressed from
their original state of maturity, meaning younger kids can play these games. If young children are
approved to play VVGs then there must be reasons. Adults want their children to be social and make
friends and video games can help them do that. According to Jack Hollingdale, playing cooperative
team player video games increases empathy and decreases aggression (Hollingdale, 2014). Aggression
levels are not the only factors thought to be linked to VVGs, hostility levels are another topic for
arguing. To help prove that video games do not make young gamers want to hurt others a study was
done. This study consisted of 43 young adults from ages 12 18, most of the youth were Caucasian
American males. The

The And Human Nature s Love For Categorization
When looking at a piece of literature, reviewing it may be difficult to do in an overall sense. Seeing as
there are endless aspects to a good work of literature, trying to review one on this general basis may
be unfair to the work itself. Due to the complexity of literature, and human nature s love for
categorization, we started looking at pieces of literature through critical lenses . The lenses help us
narrow down the aspects of our criticism, effectively categorizing them. For example, there are four
main critical lenses: Marxist, Feminist, Psychoanalytical, and Archetypal. Each of the four has a
unique set of aspects it analyzes, but all have one thing in common, they help find the underlying
themes and/or motivations behind the text, whether they were intentional or not. One classic example
of one of these underlying themes is Shakespeare s Hamlet. Hamlet can be seen through a Feminist
Literary Lens, revealing the patriarchal structure of society in this fictional work of literature. To begin
with, one cannot look at a work through a Feminist Literary Lens until one knows what that is. To put
it simply, a Feminist Literary Lens is a way of pointing out gender indifferences in a story, specifically
the oppression of women in that society. This indifference comes in many different variations. It could
come in the way that men have most of the say in society while women have little. This could mean
the misrepresentation of a woman s inner strength and independence. This

Characteristics Of The Italian Renaissance
Meaning and Characteristics of the Italian Renaissance Renaissance means rebirth in the French
language, the renaissance happened between the fifteenth century and sixteenth century. Beginning in
Italy, the Renaissance was an era that rediscovered the culture of ancient Greece and Rome in the
fourteenth century and witnessed a continuation of the economic, political, and social trends. Jacob
Burck hardt, a swiss historian and art critic, created the Renaissance in his celebrated book The
Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy, and published in 1860. He portrayed Italy in the fourteenth
and fifteenth centuries as the birthplace of the modern world and saw the revival of antiquity, the

Northern Italy was divided between the duchy of Milan and the republic of Venice. After the death of
the last Visconti ruler of Milan in 1447, Francesco Sforza, one of the leading condottieri of the time,
turned on his Milanese employers, conquered the city, and became its new duke. Both the Visconti and
the Sforza rulers worked to create a highly centralized territorial state. They were especially successful
in devising systems of taxation that generated enormous revenues for the government. The maritime
republic of Venice remained an extremely stable political entity governed by a small oligarchy of
merchant aristocrats. Its commercial empire brought in enormous revenues and gave it the status of an
international power. At the end of the fourteenth century, Venice embarked on the conquest of a
territorial state in northern Italy to protect its food supply and its overland trade routes. Although
expansion on the mainland made sense to the Venetians, it frightened Milan and Florence, which
worked to curb what they perceived as the expansionary designs of the Venetians. Besides the five
major states, there were a number of independent city states under the control of powerful ruling
families that became brilliant centers of Renaissance culture in the fifteenth century.

by medication with slim to no side effects by eating healthy, and taking good care of yourself. In order

just seizures. Having Epilepsy and not treating it properly can be more harmful than the disorder itself.
If you have Epilepsy you should talk to your friends and family members.Epilepsy can only be treated
if there is a team effort and a person is ready to accept the fact that they have it.

SA is knowing and integrating the past and present with a forecast for the future and then creating a
sound plan of action to achieve another short term goal in the staircase toward a performance goal.
This requires the person to be also engaged in the moment with sound decision making as a response
to the feedback they just received in their dynamic environment. The ability to concentrate, to focus
on the moment with intentional effort, to be consistent, committed, adaptable, disciplined, confident,

Advantages Of Indian Reservation System
There arrives a time when almost everything overstays its welcome and needs changes to survive.
India s reservation system is one of those systems which has overstayed its due and has been a failure
in meeting its initial objectives. It was introduced to erase the caste discrimination and the divisions in
the Indian society. What it has done is that it has etched these caste lines even deeper into the society
setting up the general castes against the lower castes. The reservation system was thought to promote
the weaker and the backward classes but it ended up making them tools of vote bank politics. The
reservation system of India has not been successful in eradicating as well as introducing all what it
stood for at the time of its introduction.
The Mandal Commission was introduced in 1979 to identify the socially backward classes and to set
up reservation seats to eliminate caste discrimination in the country. It used social, economic and
education factors to decide on the backwardness of the classes. But if we look at the present scenario,
reservations are determined on the basis of solely caste and nothing else. The OBCs, also called the

The Importance Of Social Cohesion In Football
Summary
Social cohesion between the coach athlete and peer relationships in the sporting context are crucial
when all invested parties of the team must unify to provide the desired responses during competitions.
Understanding coaches and athlete s skills, preferences, abilities, moods, and habits are all critical
pieces to achieving the desired responses. Building team cohesion represents a mutually shared social
understanding where the end goal is to learn about each other to enhance the overall collective
performance. Athletes that share similar competitive game strategies with their coach, make real time
decisions in competition, and can benefit from the social conformity and control can benefit from such
investment towards the cohesive athletic relationship. If not, the team dynamic may complicate the
group cohesiveness unintentionally and possibly assume the presumption that cohesion is superior
over effective athletic talents, skills, and proper coaching.
Coaches must focus on maximizing team member effort, skill, and team level coordination and
strategy, as opposed to managing team dynamics. In highly interdependent situations, disciplined
teams work tirelessly on their ability to carry out the skills and executions as directed through the
coaches instruction. Through the process of continued development, athletic teams can evolve their
strategies in efficiency and creativity during athletic events. This requires a serious investment in
social, coach athlete, and

system on the IOT is Telcare which comes in the form of a smart blood glucose monitor with wireless

woodland flames are known to be a vital reason for air contamination. Satellite information,
incorporating Measurement of Pollution in the Troposphere (MOPITT) CO, Moderate Resolution

of something, and the next thing Lystra remembered was being thrown to the ground as Alec covered
her. At first, she thought the blood dripping down her arm was hers, at least until she saw Alec s arm.
Sticking out of his arm was a chunk of metal, one of the pieces of debris still scattered around the
ship, thrown by one of the

Disaster Management Of Risky Locations
Disaster Management in Risky Locations Introduction Disasters such as tsunamis, floods,
earthquakes, landslides, and terrorism pose major economic, social, and political concerns to people.
However, it is astonishing that the areas disposed to such unexpected occurrences are liked and
preferred by human beings for habitation purposes. These include coastal areas which floods when the
amount of rainfall increase or are affected by tornadoes and tsunamis due to their proximity to the
coast; mountainous areas which have the possibility of experiencing landslides; and overpopulated
cities which are either poorly serviced with social amenities such garbage collection, or are targeted by
terrorists for attacks. Other people stay in such places in order to be close to their families or because
the lands on which they dwell is their ancestral land, which they would not wish to lose. Thus, the
risks involved in such places are many and needs to be addressed before the tragedies strike (Haddow,
Bullock Coppola, 2013). This paper seeks to critically discuss and analyze these trends of living in
disaster prone areas, whether or not there are other ways of making the society safer and the
possibility of people continuing to live and or work in these environments. Trends of Living in
Disaster Prone Areas: The Difficulties in Breaking the Tendencies to Stay The connection which
individuals have with the places they are accustomed to living or working, is strong and it becomes

Misconception of the God of Lighting Marvel s Version
Who fits in the description of a blonde blue eyed god, carries an electric hammer that can crush
mountains and flies the god through the air, and talks in an old English Shakespeare speaking? That
would be the famous Norse God of Lighting, Thor, or at least in the Marvel s version he is like that in
the movie Thor. Marvel s version of Norse Mythology is actually different from the actual mythology
which results a misconception of the myth to the people who watch the movie Thor. People sometime
believe that Marvel s version of Norse Mythology is the actual myth of Norse Mythology itself,
because they believe that Marvel is telling the true tales in their own way. They sometime have
forgotten that the movie Thor is an artist interpretation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I asked him more questions, there were signs that his knowledge about Norse Mythology had
Marvel s elements mixed in it therefore caused misconceptions about Norse Mythology. Another
example of people mistaking the mythology from Marvel would be one of my friends. I was asking
her opinion about a story I was making based on Norse Mythology. The topic was about the legend of
Thor, particular his weapon Mjölnir, as I read to her the proprieties of the hammer. Thor s iconic
hammer, can only is held when he s wearing the iron glove Járngreipr according to its lore. However,
she was confused for a moment as she heard the description. She questioned it because she thought
only those worthy could hold and wield the hammer as she recalled the information from the movie.
That was Marvel s version, the lore explains that the mythology Thor himself couldn t even wield the
hammer if he wasn t wearing those gloves. The requirements about the hammer were changed most
likely because the concept of those who were worthy fits in a genre about a story of heroes and
worthiness than using a magic glove to lift Mjölnir. Like my brother, she had mixed Marvel s elements
in Norse Mythology, especially beings like Thor even though their minor, but important details. Thor
is the god of thunder and said to be the strongest of all men and gods in both Marvel s and Norse
Mythology. He is described to be a protector, and a hero for

Reflection Of The Five Wishes
Week Nine Journal
Upon reflection of the Five Wishes, several thoughts came to mind. First and foremost, having a
designated advanced directive is critical. There are countless examples of clinical experiences in with
which families were overwhelmed with unexpected end of life decisions. As an educated caregiver, we
should personally take the necessary steps to assure these tough decisions are known to someone who
can facilitate the level of care desired. Such consideration of these elements of care in advance can
help to support our loved ones during this emotional time. After review of the five wishes, I
recognized that I would not want life support measures if faced with irreversible deleterious outcomes
that resulted from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, acknowledgment of personal values needs to be understood and kept in check when having
these discussions. Furthermore, these discussions are better received when one can intelligently speak
to each question and apply the language to the discussions with patients and families. Moreover,
reflecting on these questions can help the clinician be prepared for sensitive questions that may arise.
All of these measures will help guide the advanced directive formulation process.
The content of the Five Wishes document can be applied to practice by giving healthcare professionals
words to use in the dialog that occurs when having a discussion related to end of life desires. Many
times, during these challenging topics and moments staff, patients, and families do not know how to
discuss dying or what to ask for during the days leading up to death. Additionally, this document can
serve to offer an unbiased conversation. Lastly, Five Wishes can help to translate allowing natural
death, end of life moments, comfort, and dying with dignity. Specialized areas of care such as
intensive care settings can utilize this document to help patients and families make decisions and
understand the kinds of care that will be given to their loved one.
Advanced Directive A. D. was a sixty six year old Caucasian male who was recently diagnosed with a
brain tumor. The tumor was surgically removed, and he was currently undergoing chemotherapy.

How Did Technology Affect The Plains Indians
The lives of the Plains Indians have been affected in many ways, such as technological inventions as
well as in political aspects. The Plains Indians have been scammed of their land through government
actions and Americans, due to the technological advances that occurred during the late nineteenth
century. The lives of the Plain Indians were affected by the technological and political advances issued
by the United States Government and the entrepreneurs of the late nineteenth century. One of the first
ways that the lives of the Plains Indians were affected was through technological advances. Three of
the major technological advances that affected the Indians were the railroads, the telegraph, and the
telephone. All of these inventions contributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two main actions that the United States government issued towards the Plains Indians were the
Homestead Act and the Dawes Act. The Homestead Act correlated with the trend of Manifest Destiny
and encouraged settlers to migrate west. The Homestead Act encouraged western migration by
providing 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were
required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land. After
six months of residency, homesteaders also had the option of purchasing the land from the government
for roughly $1.25 per acre. (Primary Documents in American History) The land that the government
was distributing belonged to various tribes of the Plains Indians. By having the Homestead Act in
effect and encouraging settlers to migrate west, Plains Indians were forced into reservations. The real
impact of Manifest Destiny was that it sent many settlers west, without realizing that the settlers were
taking land from the Indians. The Indians that lived in the reservations had just enough food to keep
their population alive, as well as living in unsanitary conditions with bacteria and diseases
everywhere. The two options that the Indians had was to either live in the reservations with little to no
food or to face genocide. Some Indian tribes tried to make amends with American troops who ushered
the natives to reservations, but some American troops turned on the Indians. One incident of the
American troops killing Indians was the Nez Perce war. This war was over a conflict of land and how
some US troops did not agree on the settlement of the land. The war resulted in over 100 casualties
towards the Indians and was stated as a genocide of and Indian tribe. The second act that was passed
by the United States government was the Dawes Act. The Dawes Act authorized the President to

A New Leader Of A Small Staff Essay
As City manager, my job is to lead and supervise a staff of 30 to match my current vision for our
organization going forward. During the hiring process I was informed that the city has a good
financial reputation, however, it has fallen on some hard times and its reputation has the possibility of
slipping if something is not done to alleviate this possibility. Upon agreeing to accept this position I
understood the importance in paying attention to detail and taking the time to assess the strengths and
weaknesses of the organization so that we can enhance capabilities and mitigate weaknesses. The
members that hired me were made up of a search committee who may not have first hand knowledge
of the actual tasks required to do the job successfully. As the new leader of a small staff it is critical to
first figure out the processes and structures required to accomplish the goals of the organization. A
lack of information often requires leaders to be flexible, resourceful, and innovative during the first
three to six months on new jobs. I intend on working closely with the city council to further help drive
our priorities as we continue to uplift the community. However, I will be very realistic about what we
can in fact accomplish within a six month time frame. Identifying key priorities will be the first step. I
will take ample time to understand the key problems and board member s goals. Once I have gathered
enough information, I will have a better understanding of the most

Comparison Of Betty Neuman s Systems Model Comparison Assignment Betty Neuman s systems model is a systems theory that emphasizes the importance of the complex and ongoing interactions among all subsystems of an individual (Hood, 2014, p.128). Neuman s systems model focuses on decreasing external, internal, and environmental factors that could adversely affect an individual. Furthermore, Neuman s system model explains that these stressors can cause a specific response and a unique reaction that consequently wears off the defense lines that protect the person s inner core and preserve their health and well being (Hood, 2014, p.131). In contrast, Callista Roy s adaption model is a stress/adaption theory based on the premise that human response can adapt and change in terms of accommodation (Hood, 2014, p. 133). Roy s adaption model explains that human response to stimuli is dictated by the individual s adaptive modes, type of stimuli they were confronted by, level of adaption, and ability to cope (Hood, 2014). Moreover, as Hood (2014) states, a person s adaption level is determined by its response to a combination of focal, contextual, and residual stimuli. While Roy s adaption ... Maria s struggle with identity is foremost throughout the novel. Her appearance is misleading from her actual ethnicity, which she has trouble coming to terms with. It gives Maria the chance to assimilate with white culture while not actually being white. The speaker says, If we must die, let it not be like hogs/ Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,/ While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,/ Making their mock at our accursed lot (page 19). The speaker compares himself and his group of supporters as hogs, making a statement to not be hunted and to be killed like cattle. The overall message the speaker is trying to make is that, if the speaker is going to die, he d rather not die like a cattle who is cornered by the mad dogs , which represents the people in the society who are not accepting of the speaker nor his supporters. Recently violent video games (VVGs) have been accused of being the source to many mass shootings in the world, accused of corrupting the minds of young gamers. This is wrong. Violent Behavior in Video Games Violent video games are blamed for being linked to levels of aggression. Many people believe VVGs raise levels of aggression; however, studies show that belief is false. Although VVGs have violent content, it does not coincide with the levels of aggression being increased. Ratings for VVGs have regressed from their original state of maturity, meaning younger kids can play these games. If young children are approved to play VVGs then there must be reasons. Adults want their children to be social and make friends and video games can help them do that. According to Jack Hollingdale, playing cooperative team player video games increases empathy and decreases aggression (Hollingdale, 2014). Aggression levels are not the only factors thought to be linked to VVGs, hostility levels are another topic for arguing. To help prove that video games do not make young gamers want to hurt others a study was done. This study consisted of 43 young adults from ages 12 18, most of the youth were Caucasian American males. • 23. The And Human Nature s Love For Categorization When looking at a piece of literature, reviewing it may be difficult to do in an overall sense. Seeing as there are endless aspects to a good work of literature, trying to review one on this general basis may be unfair to the work itself. Due to the complexity of literature, and human nature s love for categorization, we started looking at pieces of literature through critical lenses . The lenses help us narrow down the aspects of our criticism, effectively categorizing them. For example, there are four main critical lenses: Marxist, Feminist, Psychoanalytical, and Archetypal. Each of the four has a unique set of aspects it analyzes, but all have one thing in common, they help find the underlying themes and/or motivations behind the text, whether they were intentional or not. One classic example of one of these underlying themes is Shakespeare s Hamlet. Hamlet can be seen through a Feminist Literary Lens, revealing the patriarchal structure of society in this fictional work of literature. To begin with, one cannot look at a work through a Feminist Literary Lens until one knows what that is. To put it simply, a Feminist Literary Lens is a way of pointing out gender indifferences in a story, specifically the oppression of women in that society. This indifference comes in many different variations. It could come in the way that men have most of the say in society while women have little. This could mean the misrepresentation of a woman s inner strength and independence. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the death of the last Visconti ruler of Milan in 1447, Francesco Sforza, one of the leading condottieri of the time, turned on his Milanese employers, conquered the city, and became its new duke. Both the Visconti and the Sforza rulers worked to create a highly centralized territorial state. They were especially successful in devising systems of taxation that generated enormous revenues for the government. The maritime republic of Venice remained an extremely stable political entity governed by a small oligarchy of merchant aristocrats. Its commercial empire brought in enormous revenues and gave it the status of an international power. At the end of the fourteenth century, Venice embarked on the conquest of a territorial state in northern Italy to protect its food supply and its overland trade routes. Although expansion on the mainland made sense to the Venetians, it frightened Milan and Florence, which worked to curb what they perceived as the expansionary designs of the Venetians. Besides the five major states, there were a number of independent city states under the control of powerful ruling families that became brilliant centers of Renaissance culture in the fifteenth century. India s reservation system is one of those systems which has overstayed its due and has been a failure in meeting its initial objectives. It was introduced to erase the caste discrimination and the divisions in the Indian society. What it has done is that it has etched these caste lines even deeper into the society setting up the general castes against the lower castes. The reservation system was thought to promote the weaker and the backward classes but it ended up making them tools of vote bank politics. The reservation system of India has not been successful in eradicating as well as introducing all what it stood for at the time of its introduction. The Mandal Commission was introduced in 1979 to identify the socially backward classes and to set up reservation seats to eliminate caste discrimination in the country. It used social, economic and education factors to decide on the backwardness of the classes. The Importance Of Social Cohesion In Football Summary Social cohesion between the coach athlete and peer relationships in the sporting context are crucial when all invested parties of the team must unify to provide the desired responses during competitions. Understanding coaches and athlete s skills, preferences, abilities, moods, and habits are all critical pieces to achieving the desired responses. Building team cohesion represents a mutually shared social understanding where the end goal is to learn about each other to enhance the overall collective performance. Athletes that share similar competitive game strategies with their coach, make real time decisions in competition, and can benefit from the social conformity and control can benefit from such investment towards the cohesive athletic relationship. If not, the team dynamic may complicate the group cohesiveness unintentionally and possibly assume the presumption that cohesion is superior over effective athletic talents, skills, and proper coaching. Coaches must focus on maximizing team member effort, skill, and team level coordination and strategy, as opposed to managing team dynamics. In highly interdependent situations, disciplined teams work tirelessly on their ability to carry out the skills and executions as directed through the coaches instruction. I intend on working closely with the city council to further help drive our priorities as we continue to uplift the community. However, I will be very realistic about what we can in fact accomplish within a six month time frame. Identifying key priorities will be the first step. I will take ample time to understand the key problems and board member s goals. Once I have gathered enough information, I will have a better understanding of the most ...
