Sea Buckthorn ( Hippophae Rhamnoides )
Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) belongs to a species of hardy shrub. It belongs to the
Elaeagnaceae family. It is broadly allocated all over the temperate region of Asia, Europe and around
the subtropical zones, chiefly at higher altitudes. Currently it s been cultivated in several parts of the
world (Bal et al., 2011). For years people have been using it as a drug in traditional medicine. The
polyphenols present in sea buckthorn fruits possesses antioxidant qualities and they help fight human
body against the detrimental repercussions of oxidizing radicals (Papuc a et al., 2008). The ecotypes of
sea buckthorn are of distinct genetic makeup with distinct biochemical and nutritional expressions
(Bal et al., 2011). It is resistant to drought and cold, useful for land restoration and field conservation.
Some of the attributes of sea buckthorn berries consist of anti inflammation, antimicrobial action, pain
relief, promotion of tissue regeneration, ulcers, hepatic disorders, boosting of immune system and
safety against cancer and cardiovascular disease. In ophthalmology, keratosis, trachoma, eyelid
injuries and conjunctivitis are treated using berry extracts. The plant is also known to kill tiny parasitic
mites called Demodex (Bal et al., 2011). Nutraceautical elements in Sea Buckthorn It constitutes more
than 190 compounds in the seeds, pulp and juice (Do et al., 2013). The berries are very acidic. They
are rich in proteins and several nutritious amino acids. Mineral

The Origin Of The Han Dynasty
[Abstract] These are two world renowned arts: traditional opera and dance. Since its appearance,
Chinese ancient art has taken on the form that songs, dance and poems are performed on the same
stage at the same time, usually accompanied by acrobatics and traditional Chinese operas. As a branch
of traditional Chinese opera, Puxian Opera which it comes from Fujian province that is called the

The Negative Effects Of Gress Stress And Its Effects On...
Through the fast pace of today s economy and job market in the United States, students are constantly
being asked to do more in order to maintain a competitive edge. Although, obtaining such an edge
might promote a positive outcome, there are also negative responses that essentially hurt students as
individuals and the American job market as a whole. The constant government and societal push
towards measuring up to the rest of the world is essentially, harming students more than it is
promoting them.
Although stress stress isn t always a negative aspect, in extreme situations, it can prove to be very
unhealthy. The American Psychological Association has found that Teens report that their stress level
during the school year far exceeds what they believe to be healthy... The association also says that
Many teens also report feeling overwhelmed (31 percent) and depressed or sad (30 percent) as a result
of stress. The stress that students are experiencing is not the problem as much as the consequences that
come from it. Depression and lack of motivation can result from too much pressure upon students, and
these negative side effects can cancel any of the positively intended effects. From elementary school
to college, the American school system is constantly striving to keep up with that of other countries.
This constant motivation can be very toxic to the entire cause at hand. The University of La Verne
took statistics of their students and found that ...at least 50% of

The ACL is, One of the major ligaments in your knee. ACL injuries most commonly occur during
sports that involve sudden stops, jumping or changes in direction such as. . . soccer. ( ACL Injury )
Just like concussions, ACL tears are also more prevalent in women than men. A 13 year study
conducted in NCAA men s and women s soccer found that the rate of ACL tears for female soccer
players is about three times higher than it is for males. (Dr. Greier) Female players are more
susceptible to ACL tears because of their femoral notch, where the ACL is housed, is usually narrower
in females than males. (Williams)
Sprains to the ankle and knee are common soccer injuries that happen to both men and women. A
sprain is a stretching or tearing of ligaments. . .The most common location for a sprain is in your
ankle. ( Sprains and Strains ) Playing on uneven surfaces, landing on another player s foot, and
playing in ill fitting footwear can cause ankle sprains. Sprains in the knee are usually ACL sprains,
medail collateral ligament (MCL) sprains, and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) sprains. ACL sprains
are caused by suddenly slowing down or changing direction, piviting on a planted foot, landing from a
jump incorrectly, or suddenly stopping. ( ACL Injury ) MCL sprains are caused by impact to the
outside of the knee when the knee is slightly bent, twisting one s knee, or quick turns on a planted

Comparing Army Of Music And Rich Woman Poor Woman
Over the course of history humans have suffered both mentally and physically from wars to
revolutions. With the thought of war and revolution most people think that soldiers and leaders are the
ones who usually suffer the most. Both of the poems Army of Music and Rich Woman Poor Woman
depict that the innocent civilians suffer the most. Symbolism, figurative imagery, and atmosphere help
provide this claim.
Within both poems the symbolism within them create a sense of sadness behind their hidden
meanings. The main symbol in Army of Music is the actual music depicted within the story but if you
pictured this music as the sound of war and screams it creates a different tone within the story. In the
third stanza the poet wrote Sirens echo through the music but we keep dancing . If you were to change
music to screams and gunfire while dancing to running you could imagine the fear and anguish they
are going through. In Rich Woman Poor Woman, they use the use of two female characters as a way to
contrast their two life styles. The Poet writes We had to eat beans, we had beans (Stanza 4). Little
descriptions like these show how a poor citizen reacts to anything given to her and being grateful ...

The use of similes was a major part of Army of Music such as like stone walls full of holes (Stanza 2)
and like a doorknob locked to song (Stanza 6). The first simile depicts how these innocent people
were put up against a wall and shot; the second simile depicts how the families of the soldiers who
have given their lives have suffered. Rich Woman Poor Woman uses literal imagery to drive their
point with imagery like There were planes overhead and guns firing close (Stanza 8) and they stripped
us of our dignity we had gained and then they raped us (Stanza 10). Both these literal images show
what happened to these people and how they were

Emotional Labor Among Paralegals By Jennifer Piere
Emotional Labor among Paralegals by Jennifer Pierce is centered around the phrase emotional labor.
After reading the article the reader discovers that the phrase emotional labor refers to when an
employee has to push their feelings aside in order to please or influence their boss or clients.
Emotional labor also consists of two components which are difference and caretaking. According to
Goffman, (as cited by Pierce) deference is a type of ceremonial activity which functions as symbolic
means by which appreciation is regularly conveyed to the recipient (129). Nevertheless, care taking is
when the paralegal attends to the attorneys needs and assumes a mother role by being pleasant and
giving reassurance. Emotional labor is conducted by both female and male paralegals; nevertheless,
male and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Male paralegals are allowed to be neutral or polite which results in them putting a lid on their
emotions. For instance, Peirce mentions a paralegal named Bill who was always tactful, courteous,
and considerate of other people s feelings but never overly solicitous (135). This means that even
though Bill cared about other people s feelings he would never actually be interested in them. On the
other hand, female paralegals are expected to be actively involved. For example, Peirce mentions a
paralegal named Lisa who was warm, friendly, and outgoing... was always cheerful. She tried to
please people by remembering their birthdays and cheering them up when they were down (135). This
line shows that unlike Bill, Lisa was actually interested in other people s feelings and tries to please
other people. Furthermore. Male paralegals distance themselves by using criticism and contempt. To
illustrate, this Peirce mentions a paralegal named Tony who criticized another paralegal for being

Benefits Of Gene Therapy For Parkinson s Disease
Gene therapy for Parkinson s disease (PD) is an alternative to current pharmacologic and surgical
treatments; the former are limited by motor and non motor complication, and both by lack of
neuroprotection. Gene therapy offers a means to dominate two very different but equally significant,
long term obstacles for treating human diseases. The first, involving gene replacement, attempts to
correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by expressing unmutated
gene. In reality, the number of patient whose neurodegenerative disease is linked to a single genetic
mutation is quite small, so the impact of this application of gene therapy to neurology is limited.
Another goal of gene therapy is to transfer therapeutic proteins to a targeted area of the central
nervous system (CNS), not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The age old problem with the use of proteins to treat neurodegenerative diseases is that they are large,
partially polar and often labile entities that, when injected, can aggregate, misfolded and tolerated
other changes that render them biologically ineffective or worse. Moreover more problematic for CNS
indications, they do not readily cross the blood brain barrier and, when injected directly into the brain,
do not spread significantly from the point of injection, thus reducing their exposure to the targeted
tissue, which greatly decreases their therapeutic effect, finally, when protein delivery is mistargeted,
significant side effects can occur (17 20). Gene therapy (gene transfer) refers to the use of a modified
viral vector to introduce genetic information to site specific host cells to induce targeted, long term,

Isolation Mechanism For Jamming Attack
Isolation Mechanism for Jamming Attack in MANET
1. Introduction
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) attached in a dynamic manner and it is an assembly of wireless
mobile nodes. Without any fixed infrastructure nodes making a temporary network where all nodes are
arbitrarily free to move. In the network nodes are act as routers, which take part in finding and
maintenance of routes to other nodes [1]. Wireless connection in MANET is highly misplay and due to
mobility of nodes it goes down usually. Due to highly dynamic environment coherent routing is a very
difficult task in Mobile Ad hoc Network [2].
In this paper, we esteem a particular category of DoS attacks called Jamming. In actual fact, the
mobile host in mobile ad hoc networks is a part of wireless medium. Thus, the radio signals can be
jammed or interfered, which make the message to be amoral or missed. If the attacker has a strong
transmitter, a signal can be launched that will be strong enough to conquer the directed signals and
distort communications. There are several attack schemes that a jammer can do in order to interfere
with other wireless communications.
1.1 Jamming attack
The motive of jamming attack is to fill up the communication channel with purposeless signals, due to
which verified or permissible user cannot use it. Jamming slowly down the receiving and sending of
messages at the destination. It is very difficult to prevent and find out the jamming attacks but still

Rousseau s The Social Contract
The following texts, Rousseau s The Social Contract, Marx s Private Property and Communism,
Estranged Labor and Money, all differentiate between a general will, and a more personal, individual
will. However, Rousseau s and Marx s theories of a general will, or collective being have
discrepancies in both the origin and implications of general will and individual will. Rousseau defines
general will as a collective desire to advance society towards a common goal. However, Rousseau
warns that ignoring the general will and pursuing one s own selfish personal will is dangerous not only
for an individual, but can also ultimately lead to the destruction of the body politic. Marx also
discusses a concept similar to Rousseau s general will, however ... Show more content on

Additionally, Rousseau believes that self interests are often detrimental to the common good, stating
that each individual, as a man, may have a particular will contrary or dissimilar to the general will
which he has as a citizen. His particular interest may speak to him quite differently from the common
interest: his absolute and naturally independent existence may make him look upon what he owes to
the common cause as a gratuitous contribution... The continuance of such an injustice could not but
prove the undoing of the body politic. (Rousseau, 194 195). It is evident that Rousseau is aware of
humankind s selfish desires stemming from a personal will, and he believes that if individuals begin to
ignore the common will and instead act upon their personal desires and will, that it will often lead to
pandemonium. This chaos is likely to destroy any Republic, as conflicting and selfish ideals will cause
individuals to lose sight of the general will, leading to the collapse of a coexisting society. Rousseau,
however, does not address how individual will originates, a point that Marx discusses in length in his
Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts.
The epitome of the detrimental effects caused by one acting purely on personal will can be seen in the
film, American Beauty. In this film, Lester Burnham can be seen acting upon his personal will and
ignoring the collective good in his

Comparing The American Dream And Bennett s Poly
Behind any reality lies a dream. The American Dream is an ever evolving concept, that every person
has an equivalent chance at being successful and content. It has become a conflicting idea with people
disagreeing over the possibility of actually attaining it. There are those who take a pessimistic outlook
and refuse to believe that there s more to life than what they set out to accomplish. They live in a
negative dream like state where there own cynicism prevents them from reaching and achieving their
dream. Those who attain their dream are the go getters who wake up from this illusion and take an
optimistic view towards seeking their dream. We as a people pursuing the dream, must change with it
to achieve it. It still remains a reality today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem America by Claude Mckay, the speaker s feelings towards America are discussed. This
quote shows how with perseverance The American Dream is possible and how when it is finally
reached its worth all the hardships that were faced. The speaker says, I love this cultured hell that tests
my youth: her vigor flows like tides into my blood. Giving me strength erect against her hate. (14 ).
The speaker in the poem focuses on the big picture. He knows that the struggles that are being thrust
upon him will be worthwhile once his dream is accomplished. It will mean so much more since there
was work that was put into achieving his dream. From the same poem, America , by Claude Mckay the
preceding quote explains how with hard work, motivation and determination any of your most
astounding dreams can become a reality. The quote says, Yet as a rebel fronts a king in state i stand
within her walls with not a shred of fear, or malice, not a word of jeer. Darkly i gaze into the days
ahead, and see her might and granite wonders there, Beneath the touch of Time s unerring hand, like
priceless treasures sinking in the sand. (14). The speakers perceives that he must overcome all
adversities to achieve the grandeur that is his dream. Although through all the obstacles that lie ahead,
his dream may appear to be a hazy mirage. He knows that once his dream is achieved

Siren s Rock Between Island Bay And Owhiro Bay
On Wednesday the 18th February the year 12 biology class went to Siren s Rock between Island bay
and Owhiro bay to study community patterns. The community pattern we were studying was zonation
on the rocky shore. Zonation is when an environmental factor changes, the distribution of species
changes which results in the species being present in zones or bands. In this report I am going to talk
about the Cellana denticulata limpet, the Cellana radian and the relationship between the two species.
Species 1: Description: The Cellana denticulata is a limpet which belongs in the true limpet family. A
true limpet is a small marine gastropod mollusc. The C denticulata is a mollusc due to it having a soft
body with a hard shell. The shell of the C denticulata is a lot more elevated and bigger than other
species of limpets with 20 30 strong ribs granulose and scaly. The colour of the shell can vary from a
grey to brown colour. On the inside of the shell the C denticulata is a bluish whitey colour with darker
streaks where the undersides of the ribs are. The C denticulata has a strong muscular foot on the
underside of their body which allows it to suction itself onto the rock to prevent slipping or falling
from the rock. This limits the movements of where the C denticulata can travel as they cannot move in
large distances. This means when it comes to feeding the C denticulata doesn t travel very far. They
are algae grazers, which graze when the tide is in by scraping the algae off

Buckner Harold Analysis
Dear Editor of the Buckner Harold, Buckner s issue that is plaguing its teenagers is that there is
nothing for them to do, when teenagers get bored they can get very destructive the best way to counter
this is to have something for teenagers to do that they like. Buckner is a small town with not a lot to do
for anyone, but the teenagers really get the short end of the stick. Presently there are playgrounds for
younger and smaller kids to play on, and there is a bar and restaurants for adults, but nothing for
teenagers. As of right now there is a small skateboard park put in almost ten years ago. As with

There are so many destructive choices that teenagers make when they have nothing to keep their
minds occupied. Some of the different choices teenagers have made when bored are vandalism,
speeding while driving, reckless endangerment, smoking, drugs like marijuana, Amphetamines,
Adderall, Opioid painkillers, Synthetic marijuana, Tranquilizers, Cough medicine, Vicodin,
Hallucinogens, OxyContin, Sedatives, Ecstasy (MDMA), LSD, Cocaine, Ritalin, Inhalants, and Salvia
as well as drinking alcoholic beverages while definitely under age. The CDC says that people from the
ages of 12 to 20 make up 11 percent of all alcohol consumed in the United States. Federal law in the
United States says that you must be 21 or older to consume alcohol or any sort. That 11 percent may
not seem so huge when you consider all of the alcohol being consumed by the United States each year,
but remember that 11 percent are all teens and kids under the legal drinking age. However drinking is
not the only path teenagers can choose out of boredom. Teenagers are also turning to drugs of all sorts
no matter what kind of drug it is. As a matter of fact it is estimated that 3,300 try marijuana for the
first time every day in the United States alone. A study has done that found that 12th graders who
smoke marijuana are 65 percent more likely to get in a car accident. In addition 51.7 teenagers 10th
grade through 12th grade have smoked pot sometime between the last month to the last year.
Furthermore though marijuana is not the only drug that teenagers are using there is also cocaine and
heroin. As a matter of fact 2.5 percent of teens have been caught up in cocaine use of some sort. On
top of that did you know that the average treatment age for a heroin addiction is 23 is most people
getting addicted in their teens. Regrettably another serious issue that costs hundreds of lives a

be: To be obedient, to honor one s parents, one s husband and to try to please him and his family. Ying
Ying was not taught to use her own digression and make her own way through life.
The result of this education was a disaster due to the differences in values between the two cultures.
Ying Ying realized that her marriage was a mistake when her husband left her for another woman. Her
love for him turned to hate and she killed her unborn baby. She felt great remorse for this and
considered herself a murderer. She later remarried a gentleman by the name of St. Clair. With St. Clair

responsible for her second sons death a secret from her husband and daughter, Lena. As shown in this

A Comparison Of The Internet On Batman And Ballot Boxes
On Batman and Ballot Boxes
Batman and the internet have much in common. Both positively impact society, but both do it through
controversial and sometimes blatantly flawed methods. How do they do this? Batman stops crime
through violence and vigilante justice, while the internet aids democracy but also spreads rumors and
dissension. However, with a responsible and thoughtful guiding force, such as Alfred the butler or a
prudent citizen, both Batman s and the internet s great potential for improving the population s welfare
are realized. When the people utilize it properly, the internet allows for a healthier society by giving
voters a bird s eye view of political issues and providing a platform where citizens can make

Evidently, the internet has drastically altered the democratic process.
This democracy ultimately rests on the people raising their voices, and once again, the internet
improves this process. Through social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, citizens have an
ability to speak out like never before. Mark McKinnon, an American political advisor, said,
Technology and social media have brought power back to the people ( Mark McKinnon Quotes ). If
social media can elect a president, as it did in 2016, then it is clearly a force to be reckoned with.
Before the age of the internet, voicing your opinion on a public platform often meant writing a letter to
the editor and hoping that it was selected for publication, but now, it s as easy as posting on Facebook,
something many people do frequently. Speaking out on important issues has never been easier.
However, dangers do lurk in the internet s abundance of news and opinions. With anyone able to post
anything they want, fake news abounds and rumors go viral. People voicing opinions on social media
rapidly find themselves in heated debates that frequently get both nasty and personal. The power that
social media gives to the people also gives them the burden of responsibility; for the internet s
numerous positive benefits to be realized, discretion and kindness must guide all online interactions.

My Teacher As A Good Teacher
When my teacher assigned our new essay, I felt as this one might be a bit of a struggle. I was too busy
worrying about my SAT and I kept having second thoughts about what I planned to do. Then, I
remembered how terrible my school teachers were and decided why not just write about that.
Throughout my school life I ve encountered many teachers who I would consider to be bad teachers. I
find it funny how some people only become teachers, so they can get an easy paying job. A bad
teacher is someone who assigns work and sits back in their desk, one who assigns the same type of
assignment, and one who gives up because he or she can t get the students to calm down. A teacher
who just sits in his or her desk is one critical example of a bad teacher. My eight grade math teacher
would assign us work, show us one or two examples and sit back in her desk. Often times the warm up
would be what the assignment would be over, but it was only the basics. Another one of my teachers
was my sixth grade English teacher. This teacher was even worse; all we did in class was sit and
sometimes go over simple comprehension skills. On most days he would sit on his desk and stay on
his Blackberry playing Tetris, or Bridge Breaker. I m not sure how some teachers manage to keep their

In order to determine and analyse data for the structure and the functional of biological molecules and
also specific biological problems, with this tool and computational techniques, it enables researchers
to analyse the information that is associated with biomolecules on a wider scale through the computer
databases that is based on existing data (1).
Bioinformatics can be described as a dry practical lab work. With the use of computers, it has become
one of the easiest ways in predicting the possible outcomes of the lab experiment, and most
importantly, plays an essential role in modern biology. This helps researchers to have an idea of the
biological data that is available and the vital role in the discovery of the new biological relationships
(2). By using these tools that are available, bioinformaticians are required to familiarise themselves
with the nucleotide and protein sequence that is being analysed, the possible mutations and motifs etc.
Familiarising with structure and functions of proteins is vital in being able to manipulate it and
employ the DNA, and working with it. Nowadays, science and technology is slowly advancing
everyday, which have leads to; scientists discovering the new advances in algorithms, which is a
software and a hardware for molecular dynamics (MD). It

Telescopes Are Those That Use Both Mirrors And Lenses
Catadioptric: Catadioptric telescopes are those that use both mirrors and lenses to produce an image.
The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope.
Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and
mirrors. SCTs are primarily reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eliminate aberrations
that would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming light passes through the
Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of telescope. It is reflected from a
concave primary mirror at the back of the scope which focuses the light to the front of the telescope
where it is reflected again by a smaller, convex secondary mirror. Finally, the light travels back
through a hole in the primary mirror to the rear of the scope where an eyepiece is located for visual
observing. (Starizona.com, 2015) Below is a ray diagram of a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope: (A
levelphysicstutor.com, 2015) At first it seems that an SCT should have a focal length twice as long as
the length of the tube, since the light travels twice the length of the tube. However, SCTs actually have
focal lengths about 5 times longer than the tube length. This is due to the convex curvature of the
secondary mirror. This effectively magnifies the focal length, making the scope act much longer than
it is. The diagram below shows how a Cassegrain type telescope (such as an SCT)

Geological And Environmental Circumstances That Have Been...
Geological and environmental circumstances that have an affect have been designated geohazards.
There are many different categories of geohazards that can occur in the world. Some of these
geohazards include landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, lahars, and hydrothermal eruptions.
These natural disasters can all have both short and long term effect on the surrounding environment. It
is important to recognize the different kinds of geohazards and how to know if we can take preventive
measures or very minimally understand which areas may be more susceptible to a geohazard event.
A landslide is the downward movement of land typically from a slope or a cliff. They are more
common in coastal and mountain range areas. In the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The largest earthquake that has been recorded was a 9.6. It occurred May 22, 1960 in southern Chile.
It lasted for approximately ten minutes. There was a resulting tsunami that hit Hawaii, Japan, and part
of New Zealand. While the exact number of casualties is unknown the number is estimated to be
between one thousand to six thousand souls.
Tsunami is a Japanese term meaning harbour wave. They are also known as tidal waves or seismic sea
waves. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are these most prevalent triggers of tsunami occurrences.
What makes tsunamis not the same as normal waves is that customary whitecaps are caused by the
gravitational pull of the moon or sun, or they are formed due to wind patterns. However, tsunamis are
caused by a severe water displacement. While tsunamis do transpire around the world, Japan is the
foremost victim of this natural disaster. Tsunamis can be over one hundred feet tall and move forward
at speeds of five hundred miles per hour. An average of 7,916 people perishes each year correlated to
tsunami incidents. Another 85,582 are affected. Eighty percent of tidal waves transpire in the Pacific
Ocean s ring of fire.
The largest recorded tsunami occurred on July 9, 1958. It happened in the evening after an earthquake
happened on the Fairweather Fault in the Alaska Panhandle. It had a record height of 1,720 feet and
hit the shores of Lituya Bay, Alaska. The impact of the tsunami resulted in the uprooting of many
trees. This was

Peaceful Resistance In Henry David Thoreau s Civil...
In a free society such as the United States, peaceful resistance usually comes in the form of peaceful
protests such as people marching in the streets or people staying put in a public area for symbolic
reasons. Peaceful resistance of this form is allowed because the government of this country seems to
support an ideal set forth in Henry David Thoreau s Civil Disobedience: That government is best
which governs least. In other words, the role of government is to protect the individual freedoms of its
people, and the constitution that the United States government adheres to works to protect those
individual freedoms, including the freedom of speech. Therefore, peaceful resistance in the form of
peaceful protests are protected by the constitution. And even when peaceful protests cause individuals
to break laws, these actions can bear fruits of justice and advancement within society.

The Internal Scanning And Strategy Formulation Of Electrolux
The internal scanning and strategy formulation of Electrolux Internal scanning and strategy
formulation are convenient implements for forecasting the prosperity of Electrolux, but the
corporation must stay objective for long term operations. These tools are an indispensable approach
for understanding the competition particularly in China s industry and environmental footprint.
Electrolux discovers their strengths and impotencies through Barney s VRIO framework, Porters

My ankles healed and I m back to cheerleading with no complications, I ve even been going to

is easy because the floor is springy but the track at a football game is a whole different story and I

encouragements from my team but they don t do much to calm my nerves. My palms are getting

The s Infamous Dead Dutchman
On Aug. 15, 2013, 22 year old Ugandan kayaker Chagga Bileni paddled into the White Nile s
infamous Dead Dutchman, a Class V rapid aptly named. Bileni did not survive, and no one knows the
reasoning behind Bileni s decision to run the rapid that took his life. The obvious answer and one that
many who knew and loved him took was suicide. After months of researching and interviewing his
closest friends and his doctors, I began to piece together the events leading up to his death and found
the answer was a bit more complicated.
Bileni suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, a personality disorder that alters one s perception of
reality. People with schizophrenia often feel like they re being watched or that others are trying to
harm them. They usually hear things or people who don t exist and say strange or confusing things.
Few people understand the disorder, and many around the world have even never heard of it before.
None of Bileni s loved ones knew he had it, and they could not understand why the once charismatic
and intelligent young man had become distrustful, reclusive and moody. During Bileni s last year alive
his family and mzungu (white foreigner) friends sought help for him, the former through shaman
healing and the latter through a government operated health clinic in Jinja 40 km upstream.
Mental disorders can be debilitating. They affect people s physical health, financial stability and

Joy Harjo s The Woman Hanging From The Thirteenth Floor...
When creating a persona authors provide an insight into their own lives. Even if an author is not
creating an autobiographical persona, they are writing from their experiences, feelings, or memories.
For that reason, they are creating something from within. The persona usually conveys a story or
provides a message to the reader from the author. Thus, creating a strong persona is essential to the
piece of literature to convey its point. Since, the persona is the readers focus. Joy Harjo s poem The

First, the setting of the poem is in east Chicago (Kelly 140). Second, the line she is a woman of
children, of the baby Carlos connects with the image she had of the women rocking the baby. (Kelly

she imagined rocking in the chair. Third, Harjo makes the remark that the women who is hanging from
the window could have been in the chair. Harjo puts this idea into the poem by writing, it was in the
farther north and she was the baby then. They rocked her (Kelly 140). The women from the poem who
is hanging could have been in the chair moments before, remembering when she was a child being
comforted. Ultimately, if Harjo had not been a Native American she would not have been at the urban
Indian center, which inspired her to create the poem. Native American women and their struggles
would not have affected her. However, Harjo says, I always write with especially these women in

Tracking Pba Schedule
INTRODUCTORY SUMMARY
In the past two years, our company has consistently missed the release dates for our PBA (printed
board assembly) products. These missed releases have resulted in fines to the company, and extreme
customer dissatisfaction. We have had to reduce our workforce considerably over the past year, and in
the process, we have lost experienced employee talent. Middle management has accepted the
challenge to develop a PBA Design to Release Spreadsheet. This spreadsheet process will assist our
Research and Development organization in achieving the company s goal to honor its contractual
obligations to customers. Since budget cuts are in place, the spreadsheet will be developed based on
existing resources and work force. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once each group has agreed upon their responsibilities, the Team Lead will present the list to the Core
Team. In the past, when this kind of information has been collected, the biggest concern expressed
from all of the groups is the limited amount of time they have to complete their job efficiently. Their
main concern is limited personnel and resources. This spreadsheet tracking process will present a
work culture challenge in the way our teams approach their tasks.
CORE TEAM REVIEWS EACH GROUP S DEFINITION OF DUTIES
After each group has completed their list of tasks and timelines, the Core Team reviews the combined
results. The Core Team s goal is to evaluate the lists, and incorporate them into the final spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet will define the fundamental duties and timelines to complete for each group. The
ultimate goal is to get the product to the customer within eight months.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The logical approach is to start to perform the design work in parallel across groups, when practical.
This practice of concurrent engineering is commonly used by understaffed, schedule driven
companies. Using this method, each group can be working on their portion of the design, without
having to wait for the previous group to complete their portion. When the schedule of the PBA release
has been established, an excel spreadsheet is generated with each participant s responsibilities and
timelines.

Bose Corporation Is A Massachusetts Based Global Supplier...
Bose Corporation is a Massachusetts based global supplier of consumer electronics. Founded in 1964
by MIT professor Dr. Amar Bose, the company s strategy has been to combine technology with
creative people to develop products that offer high performance and are simple to use, yet
sophisticated (Moody, 1991). Bose prides itself on its creativity and innovation in producing quality
audio components, like stereos, noise canceling headsets and premier automobile stereo systems. Bose
is also known for pioneering the concept of Just In Time II (JIT II), a customer supplier partnership
concept that is now practiced by other major companies and their suppliers. This case study analyzes
some of the major components of Bose s supply management strategy and processes, including the
implementation of JIT II.
Performance Measurement System
According to the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management textbook, Supplier performance
measurement includes the requisite methods and systems to collect and provide information to
measure, rate, or rank supplier performance on an ongoing basis (324). Bose has developed a detailed
supplier performance system that measures on time delivery, quality performance, technical
improvements, and supplier suggestions (Schulz, 2016). Twice a month, Bose generates a report
providing feedback to suppliers about their performance. If necessary, Bose uses these measurements
to establish goals for improvement for that supplier to attain. It would be beneficial for

Two Great Short Stories Read by Many are A Rose for Emily...
Two of the greatest short stories written back in late 19th and early 20th centuries are still read by
many people. The two stories are A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner and Guy De

horrible secret she hides. The other book is about a materialistic woman named Mathilde Loisel loses
a fake necklace and find out to be a fake one after ten years later. Although these stories are written
about fifty years apart and written from two different countries, these two stories have many
similarities and differences. A Rose for Emily and The Necklace are juxtaposed with the main

Also these items can reflect the strong symbolism in it. Faulkner used a rose, but De Maupassant used
the necklace to represent the main character s emotions in two items. The difference in those symbols
is that a rose has only appeared on the title but the necklace is the whole flow of the story. Faulkner
leaves the reader to interpret the rose s symbolic meaning. The rose is usually a powerful symbol of
love, it always has been, and portrays an everlasting beauty. Moreover, the rose has been used for
centuries to illustrate an eternal type of love and faithfulness. Therefore, readers can infer the meaning
that the rose present in the title, and portray it to Emily that she does not have love in her life. The
necklace, however it is the important items that lead to the climax of the story. It is pretty but
worthless, shows the awareness of appearance and real world. Also, the fake necklace shows Mathilde
s desire to be something she is not. The last comparison about these two narratives about tone. The
tone of two narratives is very ironic. There are many ironies to be found in A Rose for Emily. One of
the examples, when she is speaking with the Aldermen. They are trying to convince Emily to pay her

Necklace also have many ironical quotes. Mathilde Loisel really wants to be in the upper class society,

U.s. Military Defense And Education
Security is most highest priority in every country but To nurture a secure nation, federal spending
must be balanced among military defense and programs that provide economic security, such as
education and health care . A worthy portion of any country s budget is spent on defence . To some
extent it is not a good idea for us to spend money on defending ourselves from imaginary enemies. We
spend significant sums of money preparing for wars that we later create and ignore the needs of our
own country. There are also other important sectors which needs to develop to bring economic growth.
It should be much better to spent in areas such as social welfare, health, and education. We do not

But it turns out that military spending is actually a singularly good proxy for measuring just how big
the multiplier for government spending is. Countries that have a military or army enjoy an array of
benefits, ranging from job employment to the military, as well as a form of protection in the event of
military conflict. Some countries need a strong military more than others, depending on their strength
amongst other countries. The army also provides different job opportunities to locals who leave near
military bases. Thousands of folks work in different departments in the military building planes,
ammunition, guns, tanks, and other supplies need during combat. In simple terms, some people rely on
the military for work so that they can provide for their families. A military that is trained and funded
by the government can provide defense for a nation in the event of military or political conflict. In
other words, just having an army can make other countries reconsider invading your country as they
can assess whether they stand a chance to win or lose their platoons and expend a lot of resources and
reputation. Additionally, having a strong military can allow some nations to mobilize their personnel
to help others during military conflict. For instance The U.S. continues to give Israel military aid to
the tune of $3 billion every year, with plans to expand aid to $4 billion annually.

The Prince Of Tides By Pat Conroy
The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy is a compelling narrative in which an ordinary southern South
Carolina family, the Wingos, experience extraordinary circumstances deeply rooted in the canticles of
childhood affliction. It is a narrative of survival; survival of familial bonds, mortality, and unaffected
love when the Wingo parents, Lila and Henry Wingo, thoughtlessly wreak havoc on the fragile lives of
their children: Tom, Luke, and Savannah Wingo. It is a story of sand dollars, marsh tides, shrimp,
marsh hens, meandering boats through the salt marsh of Colleton, and everything the South Carolina
sun imprints upon permanently. Most importantly, The Prince of Tides is the story of Tom Wingo, a
white Southern male, who represses his past until he reconciles with the wreckage he abandons in the
salt marshes and consequently, liberates himself from his internal affliction. Tom Wingo lives on
Sullivans Island, South Carolina the sanctuary in which he neglects his past with his three daughters

Drones can now fly for at least 10, 000 hours and so far, at least 4, 865 undocumented immigrants and

A tool known as BMI (body mass index) is used by medical providers to calculate an individual s
body mass index. It calculated by measuring a child s weight and height and the found value is then

aged anywhere from 2 19 is more than 85% and less than 95% they are considered overweight.

Pilgrim s Host
No one likes to be the butt of a joke, Pilgrim Chaucer included. In the Prologue to Sir Thopas, the
Host, Harry Bailey, a crude, hulking man, taunts Pilgrim Chaucer by making fun of his quiet manners
and delicate appearance. Lacking a physical advantage over the Host, Pilgrim Chaucer wisely chooses
to get back at him by using his wits. Rather than getting upset over Harry s slurs, the Pilgrim takes his
revenge in a more subtle way by telling a tale guaranteed to irritate his Host: a lilting, ridiculous piece
of fluff about a hopelessly effeminate knight called Sir Thopas. Through the use of camp language and
phallic symbols, Geoffrey Chaucer, in his poem the Tale of Sir Thopas, creates a mocking
counterpoint to his Host, and exposes Harry s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses terminology usually reserved for romantic heroines: Whit was his face as payndemayn,/His
lippes rede as rose;/His rode is lyk scarlet in grayn,/And I yow telle in good certayn/He hadde a
seemly nose (725 729). Additionally, he is, sweete as is the brembul flour, (746), with long golden hair
and silken clothes. This harkens back to the Host s description of Pilgrim Chaucer as small and pretty.
Also, Sir Thopas s knightly skills and bravery are sorely lacking. He hunts only the nonthreatening
deer and rabbit. Furthermore, when he is confronted with the Giant, Sire Thopas drow abak ful faste;
(827) and runs away from the fight. Pilgrim Chaucer s use of camp language throughout the tale
contributes significantly to the Host s

The Theme Of Death And Death In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts the diffusion side of the problematic part in the life of the hero who
recoils and leads to his death. The use of death in storytelling offers many pathways to character
development and can also carry the theme of the story. Many stories can also be centered around
death. In the story of Hamlet, the story begins with the young prince depressed about the death of his
father.
Prince Hamlet was ordinary boy just like any other. He was a smart and clever young man and was
probably very kind to have many friends and a girlfriend, but after the news of his father s death, he
had changed. Hamlet soon began to shut himself in his room every night and wears nothing but dark
clothing. The death of his father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I loved you not. Towards the middle of his play, Hamlet sees that his uncle appears to act suspicious
and proceeds to walk out of the room. This means that what the ghost said must be true and he may
now proceed in getting his revenge. Even though the young prince believes that he is pretending, it
seems that between the death of his father and the feeling of betrayal by his loved ones has taken its
toll on Hamlet.
During a conversation with his mother, Hamlet hears a noise from the tapestry and thought it was
Claudius, so he proceeds to stabbing him, but out came Polonius, Ophelias father. Hamlet s obsession
with revenge has caused him to kill an innocent man and unavoidably leads his lover to perish. The
death of her father drives Ophelia insane and eventually she drowns causing her brother Laertes to
hate Hamlet for destroying his family and teaming up with Claudius to kill the prince. Their plan was
to have Laertes fight Hamlet in a fencing match where Laertes will fight with a sword that is coated
with poison and later Claudius will offer Hamlet a Cup filled with poison. As the match begins Laertes
cuts Hamlet, then they accidentally switch swords and then Hamlet cuts Laertes. Now both boys have
been sliced by the poisoned blade and their lives are reaching their end. As Claudius watches the
match with Gertrude, too focused on the match to be

Difficult To Amend The Constitution In The United States
The founding fathers made it so difficult to amend the constitution for numerous reasons. The most
obvious being that it was considered a safe guard for the Americans. It was meant to protect the people
from tyranny. They wanted to insure no one can just come in and amend it without thinking of the
common good of the people. The document was so very well written and thought out, they knew that
they wouldn t need many add ins. To make the process complicated means that if what the future
government wanted to change was that necessary, it would find its way to be decided, voted on, and
added in.
There are many benefits for the purpose of making the constitution so complicated to amend. They
wanted to ensure that both parties could decide on

Beowulf s Acts Of Bravery
The courageous Beowulf
Beowulf shows numerous acts of bravery. He has gone through various battles throughout the book.
He went through the battle with Grendel. This battle is where Grendel first arrives to the town. The
second battle he faced was the battel with Grendel s mother. The third battel was the last battle. Where
Beowulf kills the fire expectorating dragon.
In the battle with Grendel is where , Grendel came, hoping to kill anyone he could trap on the trip to
high Herot. (pg 49 line 287) Grendel arrived at the village shrieking with irritation. Upon his arrival
Beowulf and his men are expecting Grendel s presence. As Grendel appears into herot hall Beowulf
lounges to kill the monster Grendel. As Beowulf launches to kill Grendel, he ends up ripping Grendel
s arm off with his own two hands , killing Grendel . For that Beowulf was a hero to the village, but
only for a short period of time.
Soon After Beowulf ripped Grendel s arm off. Grendel left in tears. Grendel returned to his mother to
die. Which provokes the next battle. The battle against Grendel s mother. Grendel s mother a waits for
Beowulf to arrive at her cave. As Beowulf arrives to the cave. He is greeted by Grendel s disappointed
mother. Beowulf is hypothetically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last battle is where Grendel s mother has another child. The child is a dragon. A dragon that is out
to terminate Beowulf s village, and Beowulf himself. As the dragon instigated to attack. Beowulf
begins to preserve his people. Beowulf then sacrifices his arm, while dangling from the fire spitting
dragon. He sacrifices his arm to save the village. He then cuts his arm to be able to stretch to reach the
dragons secret slaying spot, that is positioned in the middle of his throat. With all that Beowulf had he
swayed from the dragon to capture the dragons heart and fray it out. Triggering the dragon, and
himself to die as they descended from the sky

Through the fast pace of today s economy and job market in the United States, students are constantly being asked to do more in order to maintain a competitive edge. Although, obtaining such an edge might promote a positive outcome, there are also negative responses that essentially hurt students as individuals and the American job market as a whole. The constant government and societal push towards measuring up to the rest of the world is essentially, harming students more than it is promoting them. Although stress stress isn t always a negative aspect, in extreme situations, it can prove to be very unhealthy. The American Psychological Association has found that Teens report that their stress level during the school year far exceeds what they believe to be healthy... The association also says that Many teens also report feeling overwhelmed (31 percent) and depressed or sad (30 percent) as a result of stress. The stress that students are experiencing is not the problem as much as the consequences that come from it. Depression and lack of motivation can result from too much pressure upon students, and these negative side effects can cancel any of the positively intended effects. • 7. Comparing Army Of Music And Rich Woman Poor Woman Over the course of history humans have suffered both mentally and physically from wars to revolutions. With the thought of war and revolution most people think that soldiers and leaders are the ones who usually suffer the most. Both of the poems Army of Music and Rich Woman Poor Woman depict that the innocent civilians suffer the most. Symbolism, figurative imagery, and atmosphere help provide this claim. Within both poems the symbolism within them create a sense of sadness behind their hidden meanings. The main symbol in Army of Music is the actual music depicted within the story but if you pictured this music as the sound of war and screams it creates a different tone within the story. In the third stanza the poet wrote Sirens echo through the music but we keep dancing . If you were to change music to screams and gunfire while dancing to running you could imagine the fear and anguish they are going through. After reading the article the reader discovers that the phrase emotional labor refers to when an employee has to push their feelings aside in order to please or influence their boss or clients. Emotional labor also consists of two components which are difference and caretaking. According to Goffman, (as cited by Pierce) deference is a type of ceremonial activity which functions as symbolic means by which appreciation is regularly conveyed to the recipient (129). Gene therapy offers a means to dominate two very different but equally significant, long term obstacles for treating human diseases. The first, involving gene replacement, attempts to correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by expressing unmutated gene. In reality, the number of patient whose neurodegenerative disease is linked to a single genetic mutation is quite small, so the impact of this application of gene therapy to neurology is limited. Without any fixed infrastructure nodes making a temporary network where all nodes are arbitrarily free to move. In the network nodes are act as routers, which take part in finding and maintenance of routes to other nodes [1]. Wireless connection in MANET is highly misplay and due to mobility of nodes it goes down usually. Due to highly dynamic environment coherent routing is a very difficult task in Mobile Ad hoc Network [2]. In this paper, we esteem a particular category of DoS attacks called Jamming. In actual fact, the mobile host in mobile ad hoc networks is a part of wireless medium. Thus, the radio signals can be jammed or interfered, which make the message to be amoral or missed. If the attacker has a strong transmitter, a signal can be launched that will be strong enough to conquer the directed signals and distort communications. There are several attack schemes that a jammer can do in order to interfere with other wireless communications. 1.1 Jamming attack The motive of jamming attack is to fill up the communication channel with purposeless signals, due to which verified or permissible user cannot use it. Rousseau s The Social Contract The following texts, Rousseau s The Social Contract, Marx s Private Property and Communism, Estranged Labor and Money, all differentiate between a general will, and a more personal, individual will. However, Rousseau s and Marx s theories of a general will, or collective being have discrepancies in both the origin and implications of general will and individual will. Rousseau defines general will as a collective desire to advance society towards a common goal. However, Rousseau warns that ignoring the general will and pursuing one s own selfish personal will is dangerous not only for an individual, but can also ultimately lead to the destruction of the body politic. Marx also discusses a concept similar to Rousseau s general will, however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, Rousseau believes that self interests are often detrimental to the common good, stating that each individual, as a man, may have a particular will contrary or dissimilar to the general will which he has as a citizen. His particular interest may speak to him quite differently from the common interest: his absolute and naturally independent existence may make him look upon what he owes to the common cause as a gratuitous contribution... The continuance of such an injustice could not but prove the undoing of the body politic. (Rousseau, 194 195). It is evident that Rousseau is aware of humankind s selfish desires stemming from a personal will, and he believes that if individuals begin to ignore the common will and instead act upon their personal desires and will, that it will often lead to pandemonium. This chaos is likely to destroy any Republic, as conflicting and selfish ideals will cause individuals to lose sight of the general will, leading to the collapse of a coexisting society. Rousseau, however, does not address how individual will originates, a point that Marx discusses in length in his Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts. Zonation is when an environmental factor changes, the distribution of species changes which results in the species being present in zones or bands. In this report I am going to talk about the Cellana denticulata limpet, the Cellana radian and the relationship between the two species. Species 1: Description: The Cellana denticulata is a limpet which belongs in the true limpet family. A true limpet is a small marine gastropod mollusc. The C denticulata is a mollusc due to it having a soft body with a hard shell. The shell of the C denticulata is a lot more elevated and bigger than other species of limpets with 20 30 strong ribs granulose and scaly. The colour of the shell can vary from a grey to brown colour. On the inside of the shell the C denticulata is a bluish whitey colour with darker streaks where the undersides of the ribs are. The C denticulata has a strong muscular foot on the underside of their body which allows it to suction itself onto the rock to prevent slipping or falling from the rock. This limits the movements of where the C denticulata can travel as they cannot move in large distances. This means when it comes to feeding the C denticulata doesn t travel very far. The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and mirrors. SCTs are primarily reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eliminate aberrations that would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming light passes through the Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of telescope. It is reflected from a concave primary mirror at the back of the scope which focuses the light to the front of the telescope where it is reflected again by a smaller, convex secondary mirror. Finally, the light travels back through a hole in the primary mirror to the rear of the scope where an eyepiece is located for visual observing. (Starizona.com, 2015) Below is a ray diagram of a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope: (A levelphysicstutor.com, 2015) At first it seems that an SCT should have a focal length twice as long as the length of the tube, since the light travels twice the length of the tube. However, SCTs actually have focal lengths about 5 times longer than the tube length. This is due to the convex curvature of the secondary mirror. This effectively magnifies the focal length, making the scope act much longer than it is. The diagram below shows how a Cassegrain type telescope (such as an SCT) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is important to recognize the different kinds of geohazards and how to know if we can take preventive measures or very minimally understand which areas may be more susceptible to a geohazard event. What makes tsunamis not the same as normal waves is that customary whitecaps are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon or sun, or they are formed due to wind patterns. However, tsunamis are caused by a severe water displacement. While tsunamis do transpire around the world, Japan is the foremost victim of this natural disaster. In a free society such as the United States, peaceful resistance usually comes in the form of peaceful protests such as people marching in the streets or people staying put in a public area for symbolic reasons. Peaceful resistance of this form is allowed because the government of this country seems to support an ideal set forth in Henry David Thoreau s Civil Disobedience: That government is best which governs least. In other words, the role of government is to protect the individual freedoms of its people, and the constitution that the United States government adheres to works to protect those individual freedoms, including the freedom of speech.
