Potato Latkas Research Paper
The Jewish community is distinguished by a rich history, rooted in traditions that have been in place
for thousands of years, many customs, and possibly the most are dietary in nature. Foods like potato
latkas1, falafel2, and fried doughnuts are traditionally eaten during my favorite festival, Chanukah3, a
Jewish festival that commemorates the miracle of the anointing oil that burned for eight days during
the rededication process of the Temple in Jerusalem.4 Although Hanukkah5 is an eight day festival,
the best night is the last when my family has the nonpareil dinner. A great effort is made in order for
this glorious dinner to occur. My father usually begins the night by heating up the vegetable oil early
in the evening to make all the fried foods which are the most important part. Fried foods like potato
latkas are traditional in Hanukkah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cooking the potato latkas is my favorite part. Potato latkas are creamy mash potatoes that are fried in
sizzling oil resulting in the crispy goodness of a perfect potato pancake. I remember the first time we
made them, they were disgusting! They were too salty and mushy, others burnt and others turned out
black which was certainly not appealing to the tastebuds. The irony of the situation was that my dad is
somewhat of a chef and he had never made anything unappetizing until that day and as a result of that
farcical moment we have adjusted the recipe, but Hanukkah has never been the same. In spite of the
fact that it was our first failed attempt, the memory allows me to remember that incident every
Hanukkah hence making it a tradition in my household. Once we began making the potato latkas I
realized that there is no Hanukkah without them. I reminisce about sitting around the table with my
family, enjoying laughs as well eating the potato goodness that melts in my mouth for every bite I take

Essay on Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights as it stands for the United States entered as a stems from a vow as promises so to
speak was made by the Fathers of Confederation to the states during the effort for ratification of the
Constitution in 1787 1788. Numerous states had created some conditions for their ratification; the
appendage of amendments, which would assure citizen s a safeguard like a safety net for their human
rights in contrast to the central government and therefore the people had a rather remarkable

by a joint resolution pledge of Congress on September 25, 1789, and fell and with that created the
Constitutional Amendments on December 15, 1791, throughout the course of endorsement by three
fourths of the states. However twelve amendments were proposed by Congress, only ten were
formally ratified by the states. From the remaining two, one was accepted two hundred and three years
later and with that extended into the Twenty seventh Amendment, and the other technically lingers in
the path of head of the states. A very significant part of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights
without a doubt states the numerous rights of the citizens of the United States. These rights were
acknowledged within the first Ten Amendments of the Constitution. Put into action on December 15,

one takes a closer look from a different angles one may see real meaning as well as the reason why the
Bill of Rights was written. Why was the Bill of Rights written? The United States Bill of Rights came
into being as a result of a promise made by the Fathers of Confederation to the states during the
struggle for ratification of the Constitution in 1787 88. A great number of the states made as a

Road Less Taken
All of Summer in a Day is a tale from the far off future, when humanity has colonized Venus. Once
every seven years for only about two hours, taking place in a class room of young children, most of
which don t remember the sun or the gentle yellow glow it gives off due to living in underground
bunkers their whole lives. One child, Margo, recently moved to Venus from Earth, remembers the Sun
and tries to explain it to her fellow class mates who believe she is lying. On the day the Sun is to come
out, the children finally get tired of hearing Margo s Lies and lock her in a closet to punish her while
the Teacher is out. Later the Teacher arrives back in the room and, not realizing Margo is not with
them, takes them outside for the Summer . When the children come back in due to the heavy rain
coming back, they realize what they have done to Margo and let her back out of the closet. All of

themes; however, there is one part that ties these to tales together, Margo. Throughout her time on
Venus, Margo has held onto her unique experience of the Sun and though trying to share it, others
refuse to accept it as true. By the end of All of Summer in a Day the children who locked Margo in the

Designing An Effective Advertisement
Introduction
What does it take to make an effective advertisement that will successfully communicate an important
message? What does it take to capture the eye of the intended audience? It could be dependent on the
color selections or maybe even a certain graphic or image. Although those are all vital elements to
take into consideration during the design process, the most important element in creating an effective
advertisement is typography. Typography by definition is the arrangement and manipulation of a
certain typeface or typefaces on the layout of a design. Arranging text into an effective design requires
plenty of thought and a fair amount of experimentation.
A designer must consider the many different factors including alternative typefaces, point sizes, line
lengths and character spacing. These text elements represent typography, and with the correct
combination, it could be the means to a very successful advertisement and design. When looking at
typography from a marketing mentality, it is crucial to pay attention to the overall appearance and
tones advertisements try to express. Typography is a powerful tool to establish an identity or presence,
showcase the services or products it can offer them, and subtly inject the intended message, above and
beyond the actual words and graphics.
The History and Origin of Typography The origin of typography dated as early as 1850 to 1600 B.C.E.
and originated from Ancient Greece. Punches and dies were utilized to produce

Bskyb Executive Summary
BskyB Residual operating income valuation and analysis: The share price calculated for BskyB using
the residual income valuation model is £ 3.72, which is £ 5.64 below the market share price of around
£ 9.36. Reason for such depleted share price is that the profits reported by BskyB are not showing the
impact of the equity capital and hence valuing the BskyB stock on the basis of reported profit for the
period doesn t show the true and fair view of BskyB share price. The price calculate by using the
residual income valuation model is showing that how the cost of equity capital has affected the profits
of BskyB and thus reporting a decreased value of the company and for the share price as well.

Analysis Of Concord, By Jakob Andreae And Martin Chemnitz
The book of Concord, or Concordia , lays out the beliefs and theology of the Lutheran Church. It was
officially put together as of 1580, or late 16th century in order to put a stop to religious controversy
after the death of Martin Luther in 1546. This book was written by a group of theologians led by
Jakob Andreae and Martin Chemnitz. This book was intended to grasp all of the prefaced doctrines
and beliefs and to put together the Lutheran Church as we know it today. It opens with a preface, and
then goes into three past creeds that establish what a Christian is, then followed by the Ausburg
Confession, Which is the literal written out beliefs of The Lutheran Church.
Inside of the Ausburg confession, there are 28 articles, including a preface and a conclusion, though
only the first 21 are actual chief articles of faith, the other 7 speak of abuses of power.
Article 1 is about how the Lutheran church sees God as a whole, believing in the Triune God and
reject other interpretations regarding the nature of God.
Article 2 speaks of sin, how since the fall of Adam, all men (and women) are born into sin without the
fear of God, without trust in God and with strong desires to please oneself, and that even now we are
dead to sin, unless saved through being born again through babtism and the Holy Ghost.
Article 3 speaks on their beliefs in Jesus, or the Son of God. They believe that the Word did assume
human nature in the womb of Mother Mary, but also kept his divine holiness,

History of Swimming
Swimming was invented
before recorded history. Humans discovered how to swim
by accident. A person probably fell into the water and
struggled to shore using a dog paddle stroke. There was an
Egyptian hieroglyph for swimming dating from 2500 BC.
The ancient Greeks and Romans made swimming an
important part of their military training programs. There
have been known swimming contests that were organized
in Japan as early as the 1st century BC. During the Middle
Ages in Europe, swimming declined in popularity. People
felt that the water was contaminated and a source of
disease. Not everyone feared the water, however, Louis
XI reportedly swam daily in the Seine. During the early

Although few doubt the aerobic benefits of swimming,

swimmers lost less body fat than joggers. Apparently
swimming causes an adjustment in how energy is burned,
resulting in the burning of more carbohydrates than body
fat. One reason might be that swimmers retain more body
fat to insulate and maintain body heat.

What Is The Allegory In Lord Of The Flies
Author William Golding s use of symbolism and deep meaning in objects, location and characters are
examples of allegory. Allegory is a story were objects and characters symbolize more than their literal
meaning. William Golding s Lord of the Flies is about a group of British schoolboys who survive a
plane crash and find themselves on a deserted island. Without any adult guidance the boys have to
learn to adapt and have control over themselves. The novel s protagonists, Ralph and Jack, have
problems and create conflict and tension throughout the story. Lord of the flies is an allegorical novel
because it connects to the novel s main ideas and theme. The whole allegorical meaning behind Lord
of the Flies revolves around the time the book was written. The novel was written during the 1950s.
The 1950s was known as the post war era. In the novel Jack struggled to obey Ralphs rules and they
never got along. At one point jack left and created his own group with the boys who went along with
him. Ralph cared more about the well being of the boys while jack just wanted the satisfaction of

could get off the island. The split between the boys doesn t only mean a split between the boy it also
means the beginning of two political groups.
Lord of the flies is an allegory; which is demonstrated by politics and human nature. Golding s
allegorical uses connects to the novel s main idea and theme. It connects to the main idea and theme
because it uses human nature and politics to tell a separate meaning from the novels literal meaning.

The Plague Essay
In The Plague by Albert Camus a town called Oran became suddenly taken over by an epidemic the
plague , killing off thousands of people. One character greatly affected by the plague goes by the name
Rambert (A journalist from Paris just doing some research). The plague dramatically changed the way
Rambert thought because three types of environmental characteristics that surrounded him: Death,
despair and isolation. Therefore, these three characteristics showed the dramatic effects an epidemic
can have on not only people, especially Rambert.
Before the plague struck, Ramberts job consisted of gathering interviews learning about living
conditions in the Arab quarter (83) part of town. Once the plague began the government officials
quarantined Oran and rejected citizens the possibility of leaving town. Rambert tries to legally leave
Oran deeming his presence in Oran was purely accidental, he had no connection with the town and no
reasons for staying in it; that being so, he surely was entitled to leave. (84) Rambert tries to make the
officials give into his situation, but does not take into account the amount of other people trying to
leave Oran as well. His love for his wife and wanting to go home drove Rambert to take the
alternative route; escape illegally.
In part two of the book Rambert said I don t belong here! (85) He felt out of place in Oran and began
feeling desperate only thinking he was the only person greatly drawn from his wife, raising his voice

Tort Law Essay
3.1 Described nature of general tortious liability comparing and contrasting to contractual liability
A tort is referred to as a civil or private wrong that may not necessarily be a breach of contract for
which a remedy for damages would be given by a lawsuit. For instance, if an individual neglects the
statutory responsibility to self and others, it will be said that a tort was committed. The relevance of
tort law is driven by legal views of courts, common trends in the society and legal scholarship.
Tortuous liability is similar to contractual liability in different ways. For example:
The two forms of liabilities have the same structure and
They both have civil duties that need fulfillment of the same structural factors

It is the liability of an individual/entity for the offence of another.
For example if an employee commits an offence out of negligence and a third party gets injured, for
example a client, such a client will be able to file a suit against the employer even though the offence
was committed by the employee.
In this instance, the liability of the employer is as a result of their voluntary assumption or supposition
of the link with the tortuous behavior of their employees as well as the responsibilities that result from
that connection. The way they decide to delegate the responsibilities to the employees. In addition, the
tort liability that an employer takes for the employee has got nothing to do with whether the employer
is a part of the misconduct or not. Furthermore, misconduct is assumed to have been carried out by an
employee while at work for any of the following reasons: if the misconduct was authorized by the
employer or if the act was authorized but, the method of performance was not authorized. Either way,
the employer will be held liable. For example, in the case of Lister vs. Hesley Hall, it was established
by Lord Steyn that the important test in an employee, employer relationship is if the misconduct of the
employee was closely linked to the employment then, it will be just to hold the

AAnalysis On The Executive s Management
The two CEO s we are considering for this paper have two very different approaches, and what we can
only assume is two very different types of organizations. Without knowing the identity of the CEO for
the e mail, we don t get a lot of background on the company they are running like we do with SAS. It
doesn t tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem, much about the
company perks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it s direct effect to company
production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO s management style just from this message.
First of all, this is an e mail. We don t know the meetings that have been called to address this issue
prior to this, but by sending this in an e mail he is making it very impersonal. The CEO here isn t
showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he chose. They are also
very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the Associate Center and the Stock
Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement.
The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his
company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. A hiring freeze and a reduction in staff
will cause more work all around, whether specific employees are part of the problem, or not. This will
most likely not be good for company morale or retention rate. It does appear that something does need
to be done to

Cognitive behavioural therapy, an empirically validated...
Cognitive behavioural therapy, an empirically validated treatment for Major Depressive Disorder
(Robinson, Berman, Neimeyer, 1990) has featured in over 78 research studies, and is the treatment of
choice when treating depression by many clinicians. A meta analaysis completed by Dobson (1989),
reviewed 28 studies featuring cognitive therapy and depression, and found that cognitive therapy was
a more effective treatment modality than behaviour therapy, wait list control, medication, and other
therapies. A further meta analysis conducted by Gloaguen et al., (1998) found that Cognitive
behavioural therapy was equal to behaviour therapy, and more effective than drug treatments when
treating Major Depressive Disorder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As concentration, and therefore thinking becomes more difficult for depressed individuals, a more
simplistic form of therapy, may prove to be more appropriate to not only engage the client, but also
keep their attention long enough to experience positive effects. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a
structured style of therapy requiring direction from the clinician. Studies have found that the skill of
the therapist is directly related to the outcomes of therapy (Strunk et al., 2010). As this style of therapy
involves collaboration, as well as gentle direction by the therapist (Sudak, 2011), an incompetent
therapist can lead to therapy not being tailored to the individual, therefore reducing therapeutic gains.
Studies have found clients reported that at times they have felt under pressure to give particular
answers when receiving CBT, or that therapy was not flexible (Barnes et al., (2013). Therefore a style
of therapy that is flexible in nature, and directed toward areas that the client most wishes to work on
may be more appropriate. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an energy psychology therapy
based on Chinese medicine and the theory of acupuncture, using the energy meridians of the body to
promote wellness (Feinstein, 2008). The theory behind EFT suggests

James Lincoln Collier s My Brother Sam Is Dead
Truly believing in something means that you are willing to stand up for it and risk your life or suffer
consequences because of it. In James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier s My Brother Sam is
Dead, Sam Meeker did just that. It showed a story where even though standing up for something that
you believe leads to other conflicts, it s worth it if you truly believe in it.
During the American Revolution, people would risk their lives for what they believed in specifically
freedom, and they would be willing to suffer the consequences of their actions. This book takes place
in a time period where it was quite common for young men to join the army and the fight for freedom.
In an argument between Father and Sam, Sam brings up, Sir, it s worth dying to be free. This
statement is showing how Sam feels about freedom. Even though Sam believes it, didn t mean that
others did. Sam s father hadn t agreed with him, which sparked a bigger argument. The argument had
created a very tense relationship between Sam and Father, but Sam had stood up for what he believed
even though others around him didn t agree. It showed that even though he knew ... Show more

wasn t quite at ease with his family, he cared for them so much that he had risked himself without

Examples Of Primitivism In Savage Acts
Primitivism: belief in the superiority of nonindustrial society to that of the present Webster dictionary.
Is it simply a harmless first thought that when thinking of a culture deemed less than or is it a
dangerous forethought that has hand in the colonizing of peoples and cultures. Primitivism has a long
history that is intertwined with racism and prejudice. In the movie Savage Acts: Wars, Fairs, and
Empires when America s President Mckinley refused to acknowledge the Philippines as it s own
independent republic because the people were incapable of surviving alone . This thinking was lead by
the belief that because the Philippines was smaller and less advanced than America, that they needed
to be possessed by a larger country for their own good. The same President did the same thing in
Hawai i annexing their island for their own good despite the continuous objections by the people. The
thinking that these small and simple peoples needed to be saved and fixed or upgraded is an extremely
dangerous mindset. In this same film another act of racial primitivism is shown when addressing the
1893 World s Fair where it showed a series of racial/cultural groups through the lens primitivism. It
showed people as extremely simple, wearing minimalist clothing, and through the stereotypes of white
perspective and when black and indigenous americans tried to speak up and decide what they wanted

Witch Hunts In The 19th Century
From the 1480s to early 1800s, mass hysteria erupted throughout the European continent. These cases
of witches and demonic possession, along with minor events of hysteria that ran rapid throughout
Europe. This resulted in suspicions and persecutions that continue today.
Most witch hunts were started during backdrops of social, economical, or religious change. The
generalized stress branched from these backdrops, including the epidemics and natural disasters, seem
to be the major cause of all hysterical outbreaks. Such as some malign conspiracy, one of the rumor
panics, was attempting to destroy the Christian religions through poison, witchcraft and demons.
These hunts come and go for nearly three centuries, in variations to time. The range of death varied
from the 26,000 estimated deaths in Germany to the lowest four deaths in Ireland. Also, research
points out that in the more rapidly developing countries, where the Catholic churches were weak,

To Secure These Rights
9) How far do you agree that the years 1945 55 saw only limited progress in improving the status for
African Americans?
Life had only improved to a small extent. There was only limited progress in solving the problem of
segregation, the violence continued, new employment opportunities and voting rights were not readily
available and whilst there was de jure change in the areas of transport and education, de facto change
was lacking.
One of the areas that changed were segregation, Truman established a committee to investigate race
relations and to safeguard the rights of minorities. The report of this committee published in 1947 was
called To Secure These Rights . It called for many drastic changes to be made to the law e.g. to secure

Thus, during the Truman presidency, it rulings in a number of cases appeared to challenge Plessy v
Ferguson e.g. 1946 Morgan v Virginia prohibited segregation on interstate transport. The Morgan v
Virginia case did not lead to a change in practise. As a result in 1947 CORE launched a Journey of
Reconstruction. A mixed race team planned to travel by bus from the northern to southern states; their
aim was to draw public attention to the fact that many states were not following the Supreme Court.
Public attention was gained but it failed to achieve change. The UDL organised a week long bus
boycott in Louisiana s capital Baton Rouge in June 1953.
Another area that showed the some improvement was education, Their first successful challenge to
segregation in education came in 1950. The NAACP argued that Sweatt was entitled to an education
equal to that of whites at the Law school. The courts decided that they did not have to integrate the
white Law school and set up a law school for blacks. The NAACP rejected this and went to the
Supreme Court; they argued that the new law school was inferior. The Supreme Court agreed and
ordered the University of Texas Law School to accept Sweatt as a student 1950 McLaurin v Oklahoma
State University upheld the rights of black students to receive equal Higher Education. Another key
event supporting this issue was in 1954, this case came to the Supreme Court. It had been sponsored

Seven Steps to Solving the Housing Crisis
The crisis that America has found herself in, to be completely blunt and honest, all revolves around
stupidity and bad choices. American citizens that had absolutely no business even thinking of buying a
house flooded the market and were encouraged by greedy bankers that were out to make a profit,
without thinking of the consequences or morals involved. Now the government has over stepped their
boundaries and are spending this country into such deep debt, which makes one think that that light at
the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train with no hope of slowing down, let alone stopping. The
solution to this economic crisis is outlined in seven easy baby steps: 1. America needs to create a small
emergency fund (at least a million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Houses would be paid for, jobs would open up, the stock market would probably not shift as much as
it does, welfare programs would become obsolete, over 70% of Americans would stop living pay
check to pay check, and everyone would retire with dignity. Everyone could get themselves educated,
which would make us all winners, and broke people would stop buying houses that they can t afford.
If everyone bought houses that they could afford then there would be no more foreclosures; especially
if everyone had an emergency fund to give them an alternative if something happened. If businesses
weren t built on debt, especially sole proprietorships, then businesses wouldn t have to lay a bunch of
people off or cut down productivity. America needs to save to help take care of her people and
Americans need to take care of themselves so that we all win in the end.
Lastly, America needs to build a bunch of wealth and give a bunch of it away. This concept is for the

Business Feasibility Study
Finance Aspect in Business Feasibility Studies Financial feasibility can be judged by the total
estimated cost of the project, financing of the project in terms of its capital structure, debt equity ratio
and promoter s share of total cost, existing investment by the promoter in any other business and
projected cash flow and profitability. Financial feasibility study determines how much start up capital
is needed as well as sources of capital and returns on investment. It is an analysis of the total costs of a
proposed project and the potential income that the project can get. It the potential income of the

The Ambivalence of Direct Democracy Essay
The California Constitution states, All political power is inherent in the people. Government is
instituted for their protection, security, and benefit, and they have the right to alter or reform it when
the public good may require. (CA Const. art. 2, sect. 1) Indeed, the age old maxim that the government
is for the people is evident in California s Constitution, and the inception of direct democracy by the
early 20th century Progressive movement follows this ideology. The 2nd article of California s
constitution includes three forms of direct democracy: the initiative, referendum, and recall.
Respectively, these forms of direct democracy grant electors the power to propose statutes and
amendments, adopt or reject statutes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Direct democracy s initiative sounds appealing in theory, but realistically, history has shown that the
average voter is incapable of truly assessing the effects and repercussions of these ballot proposals.
This is clearly exemplified by Proposition 13, an initiative that, as author Isaac Martin states, became
a nationwide symbol of tax revolt (Martin). Proposition 13 essentially set the property tax rate to 1%
and stated that the assessed value of homes could not exceed the 1975 76 assessed value. This reduced
taxes by about 57% (californiataxdata.com), a truly drastic decrease, which translates to a loss of $7
billion in property taxes during the 1978 79 fiscal year (McCaffery Bowman, 530). Consequently,
Proposition 13 led to intense repercussions; the huge decreases in finances forced local agencies to
look for funding elsewhere, and severe cuts were made. The Los Angeles Times conducted a survey of
70 southern school districts and found that two thirds of them had eliminated or sharply curtailed
summer school. Also, Long Beach school sent layoff notices to nearly half of its staff of teachers, and
by June 28th there was a total of 3,252 estimated layoffs with 165,000 imminent layoffs. The
repercussions continued, with prices escalating to cover the decline of financing. And ironically,

Dbq Antifederalist
After America won their freedom from Great Britain there was much to celebrate, but first, they had to
come up with a new government. Because of their recent war against a monarchy, no one thought that
giving the government too much power would be a good idea. Therefore the newly founded America
created a government that mostly gave complete freedom to the people. As a result of this, the
government was in over its head with problems. For example; a large amount of debt and the gou t
couldn t raise the money they need to pay back their debts because they weren t allowed to tax the
people. In other words, because of how weak the new gou t was the state was falling into the dark
depths of chaos. In light of this, many people didn t seem to care ... Show more content on

To start with, Antifederalist questioned why they needed a whole new kind of gou t that hadn t been
used before when they already had a gou t that proven effective, for them, in the past. Adding on,
many of the Antifederalist feared that the new constitution would lead the country back to a monarch
or monarch like gou t. And so, many of the Antifederalists feared that people of influence and wealth
would worm their way into the government and control the country from positions of power. As a
result, Antifederalist feared a government with power much more than the chaos caused by a weak
government. Regarding this, many Antifederalists shared a mutual concern when it came to the
prospect of a complicated federal gou t controlling a country as large as the United States, many of
them assuming it would be near impossible. Furthermore, Antifederalist also argued that the new gou t
would give the president to much power, and feared that the population wouldn t be given the ideal
representation. To further elaborate, having the proper representation for the population was essential
for the Antifederalist because it would help ensure that the gou t couldn t impose taxes and other
things on the population without consulting them first. As Patrick Henry once warned, be extremely
cautious, watchful, jealous of your liberty; for instead of securing your rights, you may lose them
forever (Appleby 209). Henry is expressing the dangers that might follow the new gou t. In Particular,
he was elaborating that instead of keeping their freedom and gaining order, like the federalists have
promised, he feared that their freedom would be at risk instead. On the subject of gou t, the
Antifederalists stood together for their common goal of ensuring freedom, but they stood in different
places when it came to a gou t. Such as, in many cases Antifederalists were willing to ratify the new
constitution if they added

Cardiac Output ( Co )
Cardiac Output (CO) is defined as the volume of blood pumped out by the heart, specifically by the
left and right ventricle, per unit time (usually in 1 minute). It is the product of Stroke Volume (SV) and
Heart Rate (HR) [1].
CO = SV x HR
Jessica s pre exercise cardiac output can therefore be calculated as 70ml x 70bpm = 4900ml/min or
4.9L/min, whilst her post exercise cardiac output is 110ml x 130bpm = 14.3L/min. In an adult at rest,
the average cardiac output is 4.9L/min for a human female and 5.6L/min for a male [2]. Throughout
normal life, however, cardiac output can vary continuously depending on the metabolic demands of
the body. As seen with Jessica, cardiac output may be raised during exercise, and may also be reduced,
for example in sleep [3].
Stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out from a ventricle in one heartbeat, and is dependent
on several factors such as heart size, contraction duration, contractility, preload, and afterload [1].
Stroke volume can be calculated as the difference between the volume of blood in the ventricle just
before a heartbeat (end diastolic volume; EDV) and the volume following contraction (end systolic
volume; ESV) [4].
SV = EDV ESV
Average stroke volume is around 70ml (in a healthy 70kg man; with approximately 120ml and 50ml
measurements for EDV and ESV, respectively) [4]. Jessica s stroke volume is also 70ml, which
increases (as expected) to 110ml following exercise, achieved by a drop in ESV due to a more
complete emptying

Ovariohysterectomy In Dogs
Problem: Spaying a dog is a far more invasive surgery than neutering is, due to the need to enter the
abdominal cavity to remove the uterus and the ovaries in a ovariohysterectomy. The act of opening the
abdominal cavity increases the risk of infection in dogs due to exposing inner tissues and organs to a
potentially non sterile environment. To counteract the risk of infection, many doctors preemptively
prescribe antibiotics to the dogs, however, Shiloh Veterinary Hospital does not. The antibiotics usually
serve the purpose of keeping the dogs infection free, but it also contributes to the evolution of
antibiotic resistant diseases that are far more dangerous to the animals.

Entrepreneurial Intention
Literature Review Nowadays the trend of world is increasing towards the entrepreneurship because it
is responsible for generating jobs, economic growth and prosperity of the society through innovation
activities (Shane and Venkataraman, 2000; Galloway and Brown, 2002). For that, developing
individual s intention towards entrepreneurship and what are the factors that are responsible to divert
the mind of people is central problems in the entrepreneurship research (Autio et al 2001; Francis et
al. 2004; Kaijun and Sholihah, 2015). The entrepreneurial intention is a commitment to twitch a new
business (Krueger, 1993; Autio et al., 2001). In the regions of British and Spain investigated by Linan,
Nabi and Krueger (2013) that enhancing the level of knowledge and awareness about entrepreneurship
would increase self efficacy perceptions and hence entrepreneurial intentions. No significant
relationship between entrepreneurial intention and self efficacy was noticed by (Owoseni and
Olakitan, 2014). Likewise, motivation, achievement and entrepreneurial intentions were found
positively and significantly related. Vajihe and Mehdi (2014) demonstrate that there is a significant
dissimilarity in the entrepreneurial intention of students who have got entrepreneurial education and
who have not got the entrepreneurial education. Similarly, more recently, among the Malaysian
respondents entrepreneurial intentions are positively related to their social learning (family up brings

Pros And Cons Of Going Out For Wrestling Essay
A crucial decision I had to make was when I decided to go out for wrestling. In the winter seventh
grade, I wanted to do a winter sport that wasn t basketball. I wasn t going to do a sport until one of my
friends told me that I could do wrestling. I told them that I would think about it and that I would tell
them if I decided on something.
When I got home that day, I did my homework started to play my Xbox. While I was playing, I started
to think of all the pros of going out for wrestling. I was think for about a minute when I came up with
the first pro. The first pro was I would be with my friends. I could think of eight different people that
were my friends who were going out for wrestling for the first time. Those people were, ... Show more

The first con that I thought of was that I would have a lot less free time than usual. Wrestling practices
starts at 3:15 and ends at 5:00, by the time I get home and showered up that leaves me with only a
couple hours to get my homework done. I know it sounds like a lot of time, but it isn t for a teenager
who wants to have time to play his Xbox. Another con is, I would have to get up at 6:30 for
Wednesday practices because practice starts at 6:45 in the morning! The reason why they do that after
school is because some kids go to a youth group after school on Wednesdays. The third and final con
that I have been, I could get mat diseases or an injury. If you don t know what a mat disease is, it is a
disease that you get from wrestling on a sweaty mat. Some examples are ring worm, impetigo (that I
have had), boils and many more. When I got impetigo, I had to sit out for three practices and a meet!
An injury that you can get can be a broken neck (or any bone) or cauliflower ear. I know now that you
can get broken bones because one of my friends broke Draydens arm by trying a chicken wing on him.
Another injury that I had myself was when we were practicing a mat return where you pull someone
across your body and you take them down, what I got hurt from was when my knee bent side ways
because my foot got caught on his ankle when he dragged me. It hurt for ten minutes but then I was

Life Outcomes of The Cultural Revolution
How did the disruption of the educational system during the Cultural Revolution affect the life

to question, I will be reviewing the impact of the lack of education had on people as they got older and

would make it harder for one to obtain a job, I still think it needs to be looked into as why this
education was stopped, and following with the affects it had on people. There are three elements to
this idea of disruption of education. One side is that education was no longer the main point, but that

Two Versions of the Song Roxanne Essay
Many say that music has evolved over the years. This essay shall explore the elements of two versions

The two songs which shall be scrutinized shall be Roxanne. Originally released in 1978, it was
performed by The Police . The cover version El Tango de Roxanne was rearranged by Mariano Mores
in Moulin Rouge, 2001.
The main gist of the song is Sting telling his girlfriend that she doesn t have to be a prostitute

The off beat sequences of the electric guitar create a reggae feel for the song endorsing it to be
mellow. Throughout the song, the electric guitar does not have any solos but variations of its sequence
are repeated throughout the structure of the song. Doing so gives the lead singers message more
priority. The domination of the classic drum kit creates a head bobbing motion for some when
listening to this song, helping it become more popular and an easily enjoyable song.
The cover version of Roxanne (El tango de Roxanne) uses classical instruments to create a genuine
tango feel; violins, viola, cello and Spanish guitar. The song consists of many layers of instruments
creating a thick texture at times. With the violins being the base of this, the viola and Spanish guitar
both have solos instead of consistent melodies throughout the song, giving short but addictive
glimpses. As violins are presented in a certain way for this song, it is known that the genre for this
version is tango. The structure of the composition in the style of tango creates sexual temptation. This
creates the atmosphere for the style of dancing and is reflected in the scene for this song. This genre
was an excellent choice as it flows with the story line and amplifies the prostitution through the style
of music. One may say that it appeals to dancers, and the age groups of teenagers and above, as the
sexual captivation could be a luring

1) In my point of view, Kenneth Frazier is a very persistent and strong minded man. He is a man who
works really hard in order to accomplish his goals. Frazier was not pleased about law school until he

himself to do better in everything. Also, he is a risky man, he does not mind to spend a lot of money

their experiments, the conclusion of their findings was very similar and this essay will be showing
these findings by contrast. Both psychologists wanted to find out the underlying mechanics of

We see the advantages of Ainsworh s study in wanting to find out about attachment in humans, by

three teenagers are able to travel through space, arrive at Camazotz and rescue their father safety, and
then arrive back to earth. At the end the family is reunited and back with their father! The characters in
this play were well developed. At the beginning of the play Meg did not get along with Calvin because
he would make fun of Charles Wallace, Meg s younger brother. Meg was a strong, independent girl
who used her faults to help rescue her father. She was protective over her younger brother, and was
determined to help her father. It wasn t until part way through the play that it became obvious that
Meg and Calvin changed their opinions of each other. Meg, and Calvin began to fall in love with each
other. Calvin s characteristics changed throughout the play. At the beginning of the play Calvin was a

Effects Of Toxic Waste
The disposal of toxic waste should be a issue that is enforced heavily. Ever since corporations have
used toxic waste to create products and created toxic waste from the production of products, toxic
waste has been a major problem in the United States. It has developed almost everywhere in the
United States due to companies not wanting to get rid of toxic waste correctly. Vallejo, a woman
affected by toxic waste, says, They were making money (qtd. In Nazaryan). This is all that matters to
big companies. They think that as long as they are making money that they are doing the right thing
for their company and don t have to worry about other people. This makes it harder on the people who
are affected because they can t do a lot to change what the company is doing unless they get enough
people to challenge the company. Companies don t want to do anything that will lose them money.
This shows that it is the company s fault when people are being affected by toxic waste because the
people are the ones being hurt while the companies sit back and make more money than they should.
Toxic waste has many major effects on individuals and not just on a society as a whole. Some effects
include cancer, genital deformities, lower sperm count, obesity and diminished I.Q. (Kristof par 2).
This just goes to show that companies are hurting people way more than they think. Companies are
disposing of toxic waste because it is helping them to make more money, but what they don t realize is
that

  • 2. Potato Latkas Research Paper The Jewish community is distinguished by a rich history, rooted in traditions that have been in place for thousands of years, many customs, and possibly the most are dietary in nature. Foods like potato latkas1, falafel2, and fried doughnuts are traditionally eaten during my favorite festival, Chanukah3, a Jewish festival that commemorates the miracle of the anointing oil that burned for eight days during the rededication process of the Temple in Jerusalem.4 Although Hanukkah5 is an eight day festival, the best night is the last when my family has the nonpareil dinner. A great effort is made in order for this glorious dinner to occur. My father usually begins the night by heating up the vegetable oil early in the evening to make all the fried foods which are the most important part. Fried foods like potato latkas are traditional in Hanukkah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cooking the potato latkas is my favorite part. Potato latkas are creamy mash potatoes that are fried in sizzling oil resulting in the crispy goodness of a perfect potato pancake. I remember the first time we made them, they were disgusting! They were too salty and mushy, others burnt and others turned out black which was certainly not appealing to the tastebuds. The irony of the situation was that my dad is somewhat of a chef and he had never made anything unappetizing until that day and as a result of that farcical moment we have adjusted the recipe, but Hanukkah has never been the same. In spite of the fact that it was our first failed attempt, the memory allows me to remember that incident every Hanukkah hence making it a tradition in my household. Once we began making the potato latkas I realized that there is no Hanukkah without them. I reminisce about sitting around the table with my family, enjoying laughs as well eating the potato goodness that melts in my mouth for every bite I take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However twelve amendments were proposed by Congress, only ten were formally ratified by the states. One child, Margo, recently moved to Venus from Earth, remembers the Sun and tries to explain it to her fellow class mates who believe she is lying. What does it take to capture the eye of the intended audience? It could be dependent on the color selections or maybe even a certain graphic or image. Typography by definition is the arrangement and manipulation of a certain typeface or typefaces on the layout of a design. The relevance of tort law is driven by legal views of courts, common trends in the society and legal scholarship. Tortuous liability is similar to contractual liability in different ways. For example if an employee commits an offence out of negligence and a third party gets injured, for example a client, such a client will be able to file a suit against the employer even though the offence was committed by the employee. In this instance, the liability of the employer is as a result of their voluntary assumption or supposition of the link with the tortuous behavior of their employees as well as the responsibilities that result from that connection. The way they decide to delegate the responsibilities to the employees. In addition, the tort liability that an employer takes for the employee has got nothing to do with whether the employer is a part of the misconduct or not. Furthermore, misconduct is assumed to have been carried out by an employee while at work for any of the following reasons: if the misconduct was authorized by the employer or if the act was authorized but, the method of performance was not authorized. Either way, the employer will be held liable. The CEO here isn t showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he chose. As concentration, and therefore thinking becomes more difficult for depressed individuals, a more simplistic form of therapy, may prove to be more appropriate to not only engage the client, but also keep their attention long enough to experience positive effects. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a structured style of therapy requiring direction from the clinician. Studies have found that the skill of the therapist is directly related to the outcomes of therapy (Strunk et al., 2010). As this style of therapy involves collaboration, as well as gentle direction by the therapist (Sudak, 2011), an incompetent therapist can lead to therapy not being tailored to the individual, therefore reducing therapeutic gains. Studies have found clients reported that at times they have felt under pressure to give particular answers when receiving CBT, or that therapy was not flexible (Barnes et al., (2013). Proposition 13 essentially set the property tax rate to 1% and stated that the assessed value of homes could not exceed the 1975 76 assessed value. This reduced taxes by about 57% (californiataxdata.com), a truly drastic decrease, which translates to a loss of $7 billion in property taxes during the 1978 79 fiscal year (McCaffery Bowman, 530). Because of their recent war against a monarchy, no one thought that giving the government too much power would be a good idea. And so, many of the Antifederalists feared that people of influence and wealth would worm their way into the government and control the country from positions of power. As a result, Antifederalist feared a government with power much more than the chaos caused by a weak government. Regarding this, many Antifederalists shared a mutual concern when it came to the prospect of a complicated federal gou t controlling a country as large as the United States, many of them assuming it would be near impossible. Furthermore, Antifederalist also argued that the new gou t would give the president to much power, and feared that the population wouldn t be given the ideal representation. It is the product of Stroke Volume (SV) and Heart Rate (HR) [1]. CO = SV x HR Jessica s pre exercise cardiac output can therefore be calculated as 70ml x 70bpm = 4900ml/min or 4.9L/min, whilst her post exercise cardiac output is 110ml x 130bpm = 14.3L/min. In an adult at rest, the average cardiac output is 4.9L/min for a human female and 5.6L/min for a male [2]. Throughout normal life, however, cardiac output can vary continuously depending on the metabolic demands of the body. As seen with Jessica, cardiac output may be raised during exercise, and may also be reduced, for example in sleep [3]. Stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out from a ventricle in one heartbeat, and is dependent on several factors such as heart size, contraction duration, contractility, preload, and afterload [1]. Stroke volume can be calculated as the difference between the volume of blood in the ventricle just before a heartbeat (end diastolic volume; EDV) and the volume following contraction (end systolic volume; ESV) [4]. SV = EDV ESV Average stroke volume is around 70ml (in a healthy 70kg man; with approximately 120ml and 50ml measurements for EDV and ESV, respectively) [4]. The first con that I thought of was that I would have a lot less free time than usual. Wrestling practices starts at 3:15 and ends at 5:00, by the time I get home and showered up that leaves me with only a couple hours to get my homework done. I know it sounds like a lot of time, but it isn t for a teenager who wants to have time to play his Xbox. Another con is, I would have to get up at 6:30 for Wednesday practices because practice starts at 6:45 in the morning! The reason why they do that after school is because some kids go to a youth group after school on Wednesdays. The third and final con that I have been, I could get mat diseases or an injury. If you don t know what a mat disease is, it is a disease that you get from wrestling on a sweaty mat. Some examples are ring worm, impetigo (that I have had), boils and many more. When I got impetigo, I had to sit out for three practices and a meet! An injury that you can get can be a broken neck (or any bone) or cauliflower ear. I know now that you can get broken bones because one of my friends broke Draydens arm by trying a chicken wing on him. Another injury that I had myself was when we were practicing a mat return where you pull someone across your body and you take them down, what I got hurt from was when my knee bent side ways because my foot got caught on his ankle when he dragged me. It hurt for ten minutes but then I was back at it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Life Outcomes of The Cultural Revolution How did the disruption of the educational system during the Cultural Revolution affect the life outcomes of people who were getting their educations in the period 1966 75? By using this as a topic to question, I will be reviewing the impact of the lack of education had on people as they got older and began looking for jobs in China. Although it may seem clear to many on why missing an education would make it harder for one to obtain a job, I still think it needs to be looked into as why this education was stopped, and following with the affects it had on people. There are three elements to this idea of disruption of education. One side is that education was no longer the main point, but that the revolution and the building of ... People raced for the chance of education because no one knew if or when it would become banned. These people took the risks to study because they were so eager about obtaining their education to better their lives and further career choices. For those who after all this no longer wanted education to continue for them were still sent to the rural areas to give them a taste of the hard work they would need to portray in order to make a good life for themselves. • 32. Two Versions of the Song Roxanne Essay Many say that music has evolved over the years. This essay shall explore the elements of two versions of one song. It shall discuss the correlations and disparities of these songs and confer how it has been revolutionised to entertain the audiences of today. The two songs which shall be scrutinized shall be Roxanne. Originally released in 1978, it was performed by The Police . The cover version El Tango de Roxanne was rearranged by Mariano Mores in Moulin Rouge, 2001. The main gist of the song is Sting telling his girlfriend that she doesn t have to be a prostitute anymore. One could say that repeating the words Roxanne, you don t have to put on the red light in the song causes it to become the main idea of this song. As the song is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The off beat sequences of the electric guitar create a reggae feel for the song endorsing it to be mellow. Throughout the song, the electric guitar does not have any solos but variations of its sequence are repeated throughout the structure of the song. Doing so gives the lead singers message more priority. The domination of the classic drum kit creates a head bobbing motion for some when listening to this song, helping it become more popular and an easily enjoyable song. The cover version of Roxanne (El tango de Roxanne) uses classical instruments to create a genuine tango feel; violins, viola, cello and Spanish guitar. The song consists of many layers of instruments creating a thick texture at times. With the violins being the base of this, the viola and Spanish guitar both have solos instead of consistent melodies throughout the song, giving short but addictive glimpses. As violins are presented in a certain way for this song, it is known that the genre for this version is tango. The structure of the composition in the style of tango creates sexual temptation. This creates the atmosphere for the style of dancing and is reflected in the scene for this song. This genre was an excellent choice as it flows with the story line and amplifies the prostitution through the style of music. One may say that it appeals to dancers, and the age groups of teenagers and above, as the sexual captivation could be a luring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If Trump implements all the policies he s been talking about, the next year to year and a half could be very complicated for Mexico, said Jesús Peña Gonzalez, an economist, and director of a manufacturing firm in Monterrey, Mexico. (9) Mexico s economy has long depended on trade with the U.S., and those ties have only deepened since 1994 when the North American Free Trade Agreement lowered trade barriers between the two nations. Economists in Mexico see the move as part of a larger threat to the Mexican economy. Beyond the supposed tariffs or any of his proposed anti Mexico policies, Mexico is going to suffer the most from the anti Mexico sentiment that Mr. Trump is promoting among American society and businesses, said Manuel Molano, general adjunct director at the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness, a think tank. I m really concerned that with his art of persuasion, Trump will convince more individuals and companies to do less business with Mexico. Frazier was not pleased about law school until he was admitted to Harvard University. That let us know that Frazier has never settled, he always pushed himself to do better in everything. Also, he is a risky man, he does not mind to spend a lot of money on his plans, because he wants to see what he is able to achieve at the end. 2) Frazier is a man that has some terminal values, but in my opinion the value especially important to him is the desire of accomplishment, he is astute and determined. The aim is to present their work so as to compare and contrast the different approaches and techniques used by both Harry Harlow and Mary Ainsworth. Even though they both had their different techniques in carrying out their experiments, the conclusion of their findings was very similar and this essay will be showing these findings by contrast. We see the advantages of Ainsworh s study in wanting to find out about attachment in humans, by studying humans. As well as showing more credibility into the mechanics of human attachment it also provided Ainsworth with the opportunity to develop a highly influential procedure called the strange situation because of the complexity of humans. The Hollow Hope Struart Scheingold made a point to study and advance knowledge on financial limitation, a lot of the ideological, and organizational reforms on litigation and since he has done that other studies have also been done to further this knowledge. A lot of these other studies were comparable to Scheingold s studies he had already done on ideology and legal culture, but many of these new studies done in the late 1970 s also put their attention towards practical legal discourse, dispute resolution and legal mobilization tactics. • 38. Effects Of Toxic Waste The disposal of toxic waste should be a issue that is enforced heavily. Ever since corporations have used toxic waste to create products and created toxic waste from the production of products, toxic waste has been a major problem in the United States. It has developed almost everywhere in the United States due to companies not wanting to get rid of toxic waste correctly. Vallejo, a woman affected by toxic waste, says, They were making money (qtd. In Nazaryan). This is all that matters to big companies. They think that as long as they are making money that they are doing the right thing for their company and don t have to worry about other people. This makes it harder on the people who are affected because they can t do a lot to change what the company is doing unless they get enough people to challenge the company. Companies don t want to do anything that will lose them money. This shows that it is the company s fault when people are being affected by toxic waste because the people are the ones being hurt while the companies sit back and make more money than they should. Toxic waste has many major effects on individuals and not just on a society as a whole. Some effects include cancer, genital deformities, lower sperm count, obesity and diminished I.Q. (Kristof par 2). This just goes to show that companies are hurting people way more than they think.
