The Drinking Fountain at the University of California,...
On February 15th, 2014, I took a trip to the drinking fountain at the University of California, San
Diego that was assigned by Professor B for my second writing assignment. The drinking fountain is
made out of granite that has been polished. It is situated on a cement pathway across from Yogurt
World and the iconic Triton statue, which is next to the Price Center. The drinking fountain is in front
of the Student Services Center building and next to the fountain, close to several outdoor seats and
tables. The cement pathway is in between grasslands and several trees. On the same walkway, I see a
large American Flag on a flag tower. I would later go on to discovery the rich history surrounding the
monument on the walkway behind the flag ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Matthews. It simply states that over a million marines passed their marksmanship training in this
military base from 1917 to 1964 and was deeded to UCSD for higher education purpose. In this sense,
meaning and knowledge are produced through the use of language. In addition, this practice of
showing knowledge is a source of power when using social institutions to express thoughts on society.
As I gaze on the drinking fountain, I suddenly notice that some other viewers at the site could not see
the push button on the side of the drinking fountain from their viewing angles to the fountain and
therefore falsely mislead into the assumption that the drinking fountain for merely décor rather than a
functional fountain. This realization strikes a chord in me as I realize that different perspectives on the
drinking fountain and the site form a network of power and relationships that can shape meanings and
create differences. It is clear that the meanings of the drinking fountain are produced through the
complex negotiations that make up social process and practices through which we produce and
interpret images. (Cartwright 49)
Continuing my journey at the fountain, I decide to bend down to touch the side of the monument to
feel the texture of the polished granite material. Suddenly, I hear someone yelling behind me. I turn
around right away and find out that the call was not directed

Abstract Bipolar Disorder is a brain disorder and can be defined as a disorder involving periods of
incapacitating depression alternating with periods of extreme euphoria and excitement; formerly
called manic depression (Hockenbury, 2001). This disorder complicates an individual s emotions.
Bipolar Disorder causes an extreme shift in emotions followed by depression. This essay will focus on
the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of Bipolar Disorder.

They also can cause mania or depression or be the result of Bipolar Disorder treatment.
Treatment
There is no cure for Bipolar Disorder, it can only be treated. People with Bipolar Disorder can gain
better control of their emotional swings and associated symptoms by the use of continuous treatment.
Even with treatment emotional swings will continue to occur. There are several types of medicine that
can help relieve the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. The medicines used include mood stabilizers,
atypical antipsychotics, and antidepressants. There are many types of the medication may be tried
before one is found that works best for the person. Professionals like to use mood stabilizers and
anticonvulsants to treat bipolar disorder. Lithium (also known as Eskalith or Lithobid) is used as a
mood stabilizer. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the drug for treatment in the mid
70 s for use in fighting of both manic and depressive episodes (NIMH · Home, 2015). Anticonvulsants
include Lamotrigine (Lamictal), gabapentin (Neurontin), topiramate (Topamax), and oxcarbazepine
(Trileptal).FDA approved for maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder. (NIMH · Home,

Diary Of Anne Frank Diary Analysis
The Diary of Anne Frank is story about a young teenage girl that was trying to hide from being
persecuted from the Nazis because of her religion. During that time, survival was the only thing that
was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a bookcase that led
to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years later. They were taken
back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called typhus. The only thing that
remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and insight to be in the mind of a
teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes but the main ones are stress, grief, and mental
illness.
Stress was unavoidable during this time of her life. She was born in a wealthy family and worrying
about suitors for potential marriage material. She was worrying if she would be good enough for them
or if they ll be good enough for her father. She went from being young and care free to being young
and terrified. The day that they received the letter to work in the camps was the day that her youth and
innocence died. She didn t worry about her suitors as much after that because at the end of the day, she
could never trust them enough to tell them her secrets and innermost thoughts. She had to confide in a
diary that her father gave her to help cope with what was happening around her. She hardly had any
peace of mind knowing that they couldn t stay hiding for long. She

Advertisement Analysis Of An Advertisement
There are many things that go in to make an advertisement successful for the audience. In 2014, a
photography blogger, Johnny Baker, posted a set of four photos stating that smoking dulls your senses.
The ad is successful because of the use of how simple and plain the photos are but also explaining the
true facts and how dangerous and expensive smoking is. To understand the purpose of this print
advertisement, you must understand why Baker created these. He states, I created still life scenes that
represented certain facts about smoking, these facts were chosen as they would be off putting to new
smokers and people that smoke already. (baker)I feel the ad appeals more towards women than men
but also relates a little to everyone because it talks about the effects that smoking has during a
pregnancy and how smoking can cause your skin to wrinkle and age faster. This is important because
pregnancy is wanted for most women and smoking can cause serious affect to fertility. Also, men do
not care as much about wrinkles like women. All four of the photos are items, but what makes the
message so powerful is Baker creates them with cardboard. He says he did this to make it eye catching
and to replicate the color of the addictiveness, which is nicotine. The first picture to appear, appeals to
everyone because everybody needs food to survive. It shows a drink, a hamburger and some fries, but
all made from cardboard. The caption explains that smoking dulls your

The Need for Core Competency in an Organization
According to Prahalad and Hamel, core competencies arise from the integration of multiple
technologies and the coordination of diverse production skills. A core competence should provide
access to a wide variety of markets, and contribute significantly to the end product benefits. It should
moreover be difficult for competitors to imitate. Some examples include Philip s expertise in optical
media and Sony s ability to miniaturize electronics.
Core competency is the ability of an organization to perform excellently at a particular activity which
can be technical innovation, developing excellent managers, marketing new innovative products or
providing excellent customer services. A company may hire a team of brilliant scientists in a particular
technology, but this does not imply an automatic gain of core competence in that technology. This can
only happen through the combined integrated efforts of employees with their individual skills and
experience gained along with the resources of the organization including the way information,
technology and relationships are used for the advancement of the organisation. It is the effective
coordination among all the groups involved in bringing the product to market that results in a core
competence.
It is the core competencies of an organization that acts as a differentiator for it distinguishes the
organisation from its competitors. Whereas skills and experience relate to individual people, a core
competency relates to what the

Concept Of Vat On Imported Services
Concept of VAT on Imported Services in Nigeria
Introduction:
Value Added Tax (VAT) is a consumption tax payable on the goods and service consumed by any
person, whether government agencies, business organizations or individuals. It is a consumption tax
on economic operations including imports which in this context means goods and services brought
form abroad into Nigeria. The target of VAT is consumption of goods and services and unless an item
is specifically exempted under the VAT Act, Cap. V1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (as
amended by the VAT (Amendment) Act, 2007), the consumer is liable to the tax at the rate of 5%.

Matters Arising:
At different points in time in Nigeria, various issues have surrounded VAT administration since the
enactment of the Value Added Tax Act, 1993 (later referred to as the Act ) and the subsequent Value
Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2007, especially in relation to whether services rendered by a Non
Resident Company (NRC) to a Nigerian company are subject to VAT.
This issue became pronounced in 2015 and 2016 when the Tax Appeal Tribunal (TAT), sitting in
Abuja and Lagos handed down two conflicting decisions in Gazprom Oil Gas v FIRS (Gazprom) and
Vodacom Business Nigeria Limited v FIRS (Vodacom) respectively
Facts for consideration.
Early in the year 2016, the Tax Appeal Tribunal sitting in Lagos gave his judgment in Vodacom v
FIRS case. In this case, New Skies Satellites, a non Nigerian company based in the Netherlands,
entered into a contract for the supply of bandwidth capacities with Vodacom for its use in Nigeria. The
Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) assessed the transaction to VAT and issued a re assessment
notice based on the reverse charge mechanism a system where persons subject to pay VAT are required
to self charge and remit to the FIRS in the event that the entity that rendered the relevant services
failed to include VAT in the invoice it presented to the customer. Vodacom filed an appeal at the TAT
challenging the re assessment notice issued by FIRS1.

Making Decisions Based on Demand and Forecasting
Report the demographic and independent variables that are relevant to complete a demand analysis
providing a rationale for the selection of the variables.
As the Marketing and Public Relations Manager for my community, I am conducting research about
the demographics of our community. My research will be based on demand and forecasting about the
demographics of Darlington, SC. This research is the direct result of Domino Pizza s interest in

The structure of economics is built on the law of demand. The law of demand simply says that when
the price of a good rises, the amount demanded falls, and when the price falls, the amount demanded
rises. An increase in demand means that the demand curve will shift to the right. A decrease in the
price of the product will not shift the demand curve, but will increase the quantity demanded
(Henderson, 2008).
The Coefficient of Determination Interpretation is the accuracy of the predictor of the independent
variable on the dependent variable value. The coefficient of determination is calculated as the square
of the correlation coefficient between the sample and predicted data. How well a regression model fits
the data is shown through the coefficient of determination. The value of the coefficient of
determination shows the percentage of variation that can be explained by the regression equation and
is used to show how accurately a regression model can predict future outcomes (Mahvish Zehra, n.d.).
The interpretation of each independent variable coefficient is as following. There is a decrease in the
demand for pizza. The coefficient of the cost of pizza is, 3,174.060 and the coefficient of the cost of
soda is, 2,266.736 this shows a negative impact on demand.
Although small, the coefficient of total population .579, and the average income per house

Why Is Socrates Wrong
Socrates is known as the father of Western philosophy . In his teachings, he encouraged people to
question life and not listen to what they were told. He inspired people to search for answers, and reject
popular beliefs. As a result, Socrates was brought to trial by the dikasts (male jurors) on two charges.
Socrates had three premises that all led to the conclusion of him not being innocent and the charges
being false.
First, Socrates defended himself against the charge of corrupting the youth in Athens. Socrates
explained that he would be also be harming himself if he was intentionally corrupting the youth.
Socrates was surrounding himself with people who would follow his beliefs, not people he was trying
to corrupt. In the bible it says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father was Sophroniscus who was a stone mason. Socrates learned from his father while receiving
a basic Greek education. After working for his father for a few years he pursued philosophy. Socrates s
married Xanthippe and they had three sons together. Socrates cared more about the youth of Athens s
than his own sons. This shows that Socrates was not devoted to his family, but cared about his
teachings. This also proves that Socrates was not committing a crime, but doing what he felt was his
calling.
It is impossible to claim that Socrates is guilty of the crimes he was charged with. Socrates did not act
intentionally. He thought he was doing what he was called to do and felt he was inspiring people to
think in a new way. His teachings go against the norm which many people did not agree with.
Socrates accepted his punishment of a death sentence (drinking hemlock) since he knew he died a
hero. He showed no remorse for his actions, but instead mocked the jurors after he was sentenced.
This shows that Socrates knew his punishment was a joke since he committed no crime. Socrates
believed, even before he died that he did the right thing by speaking out against the authority. Plato
said, Such was the end of our friend, a man, I think, who was the wisest and justest, and the best man I

The Reproductive Rights of the Developmentally Disabled Essay
The Reproductive Rights of the Developmentally Disabled Sterilization of the developmentally
disabled or the mentally retarded is an issue that has long been debated in America. Mental retardation
is defined as the inability to learn normally and develop mentally. Traditionally in America if a
mentally retarded person was born to a family, that family had 2 choices take care of the child at
home, or it was strongly recommended that the child was sent to a state run institution or hospital. The
state institution was where this person would spend his or her entire life. Unfortunately these hospitals
were often huge warehouses of people with disabilities, or mental illnesses. These hospitals offered no

Early in the twentieth century the plight of the metal retarded was ignored or dealt with primarily in
state institutions. In addition authorities regarded mentally retarded women as being sexually
promiscuous and as producing many illegitimate children (Farber 29). Because of this belief many
retarded women would be placed in state institutions at the onset of puberty and sometimes released
when they reached menopause. Many people have advocated sterilization for the retarded. Nobel Prize
winning physicist William Schockley is quoted saying that he advocated sterilization for people with
low IQs and supported a sperm bank for geniuses. A letter from Ben wood, a father of IQ testing stated
his beliefs at the education testing service in 1972 when he said: It may be said in all soberness that
professional reliefers and most other indigents who produce children thereby commit crimes against
humanity which are fully as serious as many acts now considered felonies. They have no moral right
to produce such children and therefore should have no legal right to immunity from punishment that
constructively fits the crime, such as some form of painless sterilization of both guilty parents, which
would be permanent. Before 1930 there were numerous elite groups interested in the problems of the
mentally retarded. Some of them were connected with eugenics and sterilization. However,

Critical Analysis Of Nelson Mandel Long Walk To Freedom
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
Nelson Mandela, a leader within the South African society but furthermore throughout the whole
world, has spent his whole life pursuing fairness and freedom for all. The composed philosophical
quote presented within this assignment being, Our single most important challenge is to establish a
social order in which the freedom of the individual will truly mean the freedom of the individual.
appears to show a very calm and collected thought process. This quotation has an extreme importance
in the pursuit of true freedom, demanding not only rights, but true freedom to where the people can
experience life in an equal social order. Mandela s calmness throughout the people s and his struggle
for freedom in South Africa attributed towards the success eventually reached by Mandela, by not
only giving the depiction of a calm knowledgeable leader, but also giving the opportunity to truly
reflect on political unrest and make a decision that will in the end benefit everyone within the
situation, weather they are classified as black or white. Mandela always had the ability to maintain a
philosophical and calm mind set throughout the film. This gave him the ability, even when alone in
certain situations on certain topics, to push himself towards his true goal, achieving true freedom for
the colored people of South Africa. This idea can be portrayed through a specific scene in the movie,

St. Paul Sustainable Ecosystem
Sustainability is whether or not an ecosystem can survive for long periods of time. Throughout this
chapter I will be talking about whether the forest in the backyard of St. Paul is a sustainable ecosystem
and what factors keep the balance.
First of all an ecosystem is all the biotic things that live in one area and the chemical and physical
environment that surrounds them. Usually in a sustainable ecosystem there is everything that the
ecosystem needs already provided within it. So what does an ecosystem need? Well first of all there
needs to be an abundance of lots of biodiversity, which means that there are multiple different types of
plants and animals as well as various different species. Because there is so much different flora and
fauna ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The carbon cycle is also a very important part of the ecosystem. The carbon cycle is how the carbon
gets transferred from the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. The carbon cycle starts
with plants using the CO2 in photosynthesis. During photosynthesis plants use water, energy from the
sun and carbon to make a compound called glucose as well as releasing oxygen. Then as the plants get
eaten by consumers the glucose (which includes carbon) moves up the food chain. Along the way
animals use that glucose for energy, as well as breathing out the carbon in the form of carbon dioxide.
Animals and humans harness this energy by our cells that break down the glucose. This is a process
called cellular respiration. We then release the carbon in the form of carbon dioxide back into the air
by exhaling or eliminating waste.
If along the chain a producer or consumer dies without being eaten the carbon will decompose and
will get buried under everything else. After many years the carbon that was in it will turn into fossil
fuels ready to be burned by us and release more of the already abundant carbon dioxide into the

Biographies Of Educational Hegemony By Karen Ho
Educational Hegemony
With the development of the society, education becomes a significant role in human s lives, and
people appeal to get the equal rights of education. There are too many people looking forward to
justice and liberation in this world. At this time, education is a way to satisfy people s spiritual and
material demands. Gradually, eople realize the importance of education, and they believe in the
changes that education brings to them. This is why people get into hegemony, which presents from the

Individual s life choice narrows by the social cognition. The educational hegemony plants root in
people s mind that Wall Street is the best place to work. However, Wall Street people must dedicate
their lives on a financial circle. Ho states the situation, This early and intense branding of Wall Street
careers as the symbol of arrival, the equating of investment banking with career in general, serves to
narrow students notions of success and gives the impression that for graduates, there s nothing else out
there besides investment banking and consulting (Ho 171). People who study in top universities are
told to work in investment banking and consulting as a success. People regard their schools as a

famous schools must do several job in several fields, such as business, political or economic. The
ideological hegemony indeed gives people options to choose, but also limits the options and closes
people s mind to discover what they really want. The purpose of education is to help people learn

Carbon Mono Oxide Nitrogen Oxide Monitoring
Abstract clean air is a basic necessity for all human beings living on earth, yet about 80% of world s
population breathes air that has pollutants which exceed the World Health Organization s
recommended level. Environmental air pollution has significant influence on the concentration of
constituents in the atmosphere leading to effects like global warming and acid rains. To avoid such
adverse imbalances in nature, an air pollution measuring system is of utmost importance. This paper
presents fault detection and isolative model implemented in a novel fault tolerant microcontroller
based data acquisition system design for air pollutant concentration measurement in industrial
facilities in Nigeria. A supervisory control unit was incorporated in the data acquisition system design
in an attempt at robust control. The model utilizes weighted standard deviation /data variance method
to detect anomalies and correlation in measured data, with a view to data intelligence elicitation, an
error residual generator was designed to handle fault isolation and accommodation. The overall system

Illegibility from handwritten prescriptions is eliminated, decreasing the risk of medication errors while
simultaneously decreasing risks related to liability.
Oral miscommunications regarding prescriptions can be reduced, as e prescribing should decrease the
need for phone calls between prescribers and dispensers.
Causes of medication errors include mistakes by the pharmacist incorrectly interpreting illegible
handwriting or ambiguous nomenclature, and lapses in the prescriber s knowledge of desired dosage
of a drug or undesired interactions between multiple drugs. Electronic prescribing has the potential to
eliminate most of these types of errors. Warning and alert systems are provided at the point of care. E

* Single Phase
Although 6 call types are mentioned in the case, there is no specific sequence for answering those
questions and customers may ask only one type of question. Therefore it is single service.
Formula:
5. What is the expected number of people waiting in the queue?
The expected number of people waiting in the queue is Lq = 0.0677 * * Look up the table and find the
result is about 0.059
However, we don t think it is accurate.
* We stimulate these calculations of the Queuing Models on excel, which is called Q.xls. Finally, we
get a more accurate Lq.
6. What is the average number of callers in the system?
The average callers in the system not only contain the customers who are on the call, but also include
those customers who are waiting in the queue. So the average number of callers can be calculated by
adding the expected number of people waiting in the queue and the average utilization of the
employee.
* = 0.0677 + 112.39 / 27.55 = 4.1472
7. What is the average total time in the system?
The average total time in the system can be divided into two aspects, the waiting time and the serving
time. For the average waiting time, we should use the expected number of people waiting in the queue
to be divided by the arrival rate.

The group of girls or also known as the accusers consisted of Abigail Williams, Elizabeth Hubbard,
Susannah Sheldon, Mercy Lewis, Margaret Walcott, Mary Warren, Ann Putnam Jr. and Betty Paris.
Many of the girls accused people because they had seen their shape or figure come to them late at
night and tease or torment them. Another way to win the judges over was the girl s habit to throw fits.
Mostly their fits consisted of screaming and kicking like a tantrum from a kid you could say, and they
would throw a fit every time someone they accused had walked by them. The girls had a very strong
influence on the entire town you could say, once one of the girls in the group, Mary Warren, had
disagreed with accusing someone and the next day she was accused of witchcraft.
The second sick girl out of the group was Ann Putnam; she threw many fits and cried for help along
with many strange noises. While talking to Margaret about Isaac and Isaac had said that he would wed
Margaret when they were older, out of jealously the next week Isaac was accused of being a wizard.
Rebecca Nurse: [at the hanging] they are witches. They have sinned against god. It is his will. Ann

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut And Alfred Hitchcock s Film...
Anyone who is even vaguely aware with film usually has a favorite director. Why? What distinguishes
one director from another? A director is the person who determines and realizes on the screen an
artistic vision of the screenplay; casts the actors and directs their performances; works closely with
production design in creating the look of the film...and in most cases, supervises all postproduction
activity, especially editing (Barsam and Monahan 496). Clearly, the director of a film is lead visionary
in how the film is made. But what makes some directors truly memorable and instantly recognizable?
Those directors take advantage of all different kinds creative possibilities and signatures to become the
true author of the film, also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the
camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious
suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes
very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable.
Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure
closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the
protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then
manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock
uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge
confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the
murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information
and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the
truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing
what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both

Since I am the sole employee at Captures From the Heart, I have had to hire multiple contractors on

Tools Used by Project Managers
Introduction
Project management refers to the process of monitoring, planning and controlling a distinct set of
tasks that have a discrete end, beginning and result. The process of project managements is carried out
within three important constraints of scope, costs and time (Meredith Mantel, 2012). The purpose of
the project management is producing a product that is technically acceptable that is within and on time
the budget. To attain this, project managers tries to reduce the risks linked to the project and maximum
the benefits, including marketability and profit. There is a wide array of techniques and tools that are
used for the purpose of helping the project managers especially in controlling and monitoring the
projects.
Work Breakdown structure (WBS) The objective of the Work breakdown structure is to assist in
effectively planning for a project through breaking activities or key tasks in a smaller and more
manageable work units. Work breakdown structures avails a detailed task lists to be carried out for a
project and assists in delivering better costs, resource and scheduling planning for a project (Meredith
Mantel, 2012). The work breakdown structure at its basic level lists all the activities that require to be
done to ensure that a project is complete. This is often written as a hierarchy and commences with the

Just from looking at the title of the article Acadian Women and French Colonial society in eighteenth

be focussing their discussion on. The overall summary of the article is the discussion of Acadian

in Isle Royale after the defeat of Port Royal .These families would move from Mainland Nova Scotia
to the City of Louisbourg, Cape Breton Island. Once in their new home, the Acadians realize that they

The authors begin by examining colonial records which are a type of primary source that is very
credible, in the sense, it is likely a government recorded document at that time which would have
information regarding the transition from mainland Nova Scotia to what is now Louisbourg . This
source, in general, is a good one but doesn t completely back up the thesis of this article. The second
primary source that is used by Jonah and Tait is an archaeological investigation of Acadian
agricultural households. This is an incredible source that they picked because this source allows us to
understand what the structure of these people s homes would be like in the 18th century. I m not sure
exactly where the writers get this information for this next source, but I do believe it is a secondary
source worth mentioning. Two historians named Maurice Basque and Josette Brun has gathered
examples of Acadian women who have stepped out in wanting to participate in the public realm .This
would be very credible source because historians do a lot of research into their topics and often get
their work published in books. The last primary source which I find very interesting and the most
credible out of this article would be the estate inventory of Jeanne Thibodeau article concludes with.
This source not only is a very rare document but is very interesting in the fact it allows the reader to

The Book of Hosea is one among the several books of the Hebrew scripture and appears as the first in

are Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Zechariah, Haggai
Malachi (Feinberg, 1990). Hosea was instructed by God to marry a prostitute, by the name of Gomer,

Hosea appears only in the title of the book and the heading for the narrative in chapter one and is not

Bible. There is no information about where he was born, what he did before becoming a prophet, or
when and how he was called to be a prophet. He certainly became a prophet at the marriageable age
because that is when the message of God came to him (Mays, p. 2). From the first verse, we are able

salvation. Hosea is identified as a prophet in Hosea 1 verse1 and a genuine one for that matter, the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Computer Games
For budding video game players, choosing your platform for gaming is not only a bit of a challenge
financially, but also depending on your level of experience and interest in convenience. When you
take into account these three factors, and maybe a few more, it will very much decide what kind of
gamer you would like to be, or, what is best for you at the time. For some people money may not be
an issue and deciding can be relatively easy as both is an option. However, for many of us, we have to
take more time to decide. When first figuring out what direction is the best one, the initial thing many
consider before deciding between buying a console or a PC for gaming is cost. A current generation
console can cost anywhere in the range from two hundred up to around six hundred dollars. Without
advertising specific any specific brands, for some a smart phone is all you need to play simple games.
However, smart phone games are usually very casual and filled with advertisement spam. Handheld
portable consoles have superior games to smart phones, yet can still be quite casual when compared to
full scale console home systems. Unfortunately, the competition when it comes to consoles is very
strong and you find a lot of video games become exclusive to those systems. This can be very
frustrating when a very good game comes out on the console you don t own. On a consumer level, the
savings alone more than justify the potential extra outlay or occasional graphics card upgrade. For the

Covenants And The Roles Of Profit, Priest, And King
Covenants and the Roles of Profit, Priest, and King in Organizational Management
There are 6 major covenants in the Bible, Adam and Eve, pre flood Noah, post flood Noah,
Abrahamic, Moses, and Jesus, with multiple themes of salvation, Messiah, and grace. Each are
promises between God and His people and have four common elements; a benefactor; God, a
beneficiary; man, terms and conditions, and a token or symbol.
Significance and Meaning of a Covenant
To provide a better appreciation of the Bible, a definition of covenant is necessary. A covenant is a
serious life or death affair. It is a relationship; a sacred agreement between God and all humanity. It is
how God chooses to communicate to us, to redeem us, and to guarantee us eternal life in Jesus. When
God created man, he appeared in His image. Man was physically complete; yet spiritually incomplete.
God s plan for salvation was predetermined and calls all people to receive the Holy Spirit to grow and
become spiritually complete (Fountain, 2014) . Expand a bit!!
Messiah Promised: The Old Testament Genesis 9:13, I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will
be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. In Old Testament times God initiated and
offered an agreement or covenant between Him and one nation, Israel. Entrance into this covenant was
by physical, natural birth (Gen. 17:9 10). These biblical covenants were in effect during the time
before Jesus death, burial, and resurrection. They were

The Legacy Of A Free Market Economy Essay
Perestroika When Gorbachev made an attempt at economic reform, introduced in 1987 as Perestroika,
it was not enough to revive the economy and reverse the period of stagnation and excessive military
spending that was crippling the economy. If anything, it made it worse. Perestroika introduced a free
market economy, essentially the basics of capitalism, and aimed to improve life for Soviet citizens and
working conditions. In theory, the reward of working was meant to stimulate the people to work even
harder, which in the end would aid the Soviet economy and revive it. This was far from what
happened. The new economic system did not have enough free market elements, causing for the
failure of businesses and supply shortages as there were still price controls in place. As profits were
limited, production fell, just like in the oil crisis mentioned prior. What Gorbachev devised aimed to
keep basis of the Soviet economic structure, but modernize it with aspects of a free market economy,
yet it was not enough of a change to revamp the economy. The true ramifications of Perestroika were
seen in the USSR s last few years; inflation was through the roof, the GDP had declined and was
continued to fall at an alarming rate, there were shortages of food and clothes, and overall living
conditions had greatly declined. While it shortages of goods were not uncommon to the Soviet public,
Gorbachev s policy brought on shortages of basic goods and necessities. He aimed at fixing the
economy,

Contrast The Spanish And English Colonies From 1492 To 1700
In a time when Native Americans occupied present day America, the Age of Exploration began in
Spain, and the Puritans who disagreed with the Church of the England fled to a place where the
Puritans could practice their faith without scrutiny. It is in this context that the Native Americans used
to dominate the New World until the Spanish founded New Spain for Gold, God, and Glory. The
English explorers who settled in the New World after being persecuted in England and to make profit
this caused conflict with the natives eventually leading to the French and Indian War. The Spanish and

Admittedly, there was a difference in the way the Spanish and English lead to the Native Americans
downfall. The Spanish Friars forcibly convert the indigenous people with the mission system going as
far as to kidnap a Native America to convert him to Catholicism. The English converted the natives
using Praying towns which were completely optional and did not force the Native American to work
for the colonist. This difference occurred because the Spanish Friars and the conquistadors were more
focused on getting labor out of the natives while the English settlers mainly wanted to save the
indigenous people, who the English colonists thought were savage and doomed. On the other hand,
there was similarity in the way the Spanish and English forced the Native Americans to war after
attacking their religion and taking their land. The way the Spanish used the encomienda system. This
was a system set up by the Spanish king in which he lent out land to conquistadors to make profit by
using anything that was on the land including people. This was under the condition that the
conquistadors protected and converted the indigenous people on their land. The Spanish used this to
justify the need to extract labor and resources from the Native Americans who inhabited the New
World. The English used the way the Spanish treated the natives as a guide on how the

Compare And Contrast The Odyssey And The Hobbit

In The Hobbit the battle comes at the end of the book and in the Odyssey it is the battle of Troy that
occurs in the beginning of the story that starts our adventure. I think the major theme is that through
perseverance and hard work you can achieve great strides in completing your goal, and that it is only
by relying on others as well as yourself that those goal(s) can be achieved. During these events we can
understand some major plot similarities. Some shared plot points that I discovered while reading. For
instance both adventures are started by another source. In the Odyssey Goddess Athena descends from
the heavens after convincing her father, the Son of Cronus, Zeus to allow Odysseus to return home.
Once she arrives in Ithaca, she sets Telemachus on his adventure to learn more information about his
father whereabouts. This is like Gandalf the Gray arriving in the Shire to set Bilbo on his mission with
Thorin to reclaim the mountain from Smaug. Another major part would be the obstacles that stand in
their way. Mostly in the form of Monsters and other beings. The Odyssey features some creatures
famous in greek mythology such as the Cyclops, Polyphemus, the beasts Scylla and Charybdis, the
Sirens, and the God Helios and Goddesses Circe and Calypso. The Hobbit features classic fantasy
monsters like Giant Spiders, Goblins, Worgs, an Elvish King, and of course a fire breathing Smaug.

2.2. The World Bank
The World Bank is composed of five organizations run by member countries. It provides technical and

bank provided funds to the construction the lines transmitting power to neighbouring countries;
although, the project has been criticised for its human rights and environmental concerns. This is an
action which has been criticised from the view point of its safeguard policy whereby the bank should
focus on infrastructure development and not in profit making given the government of Ethiopia plans
to export half of the power generated to Kenya. Moreover, the agenda of the government of Ethiopia
in exporting electric power, where only 26.56% of the population in the country have access to electric

eradicating extreme poverty is questionable where it is funding a project in which nearly half a million
people could be exposed to starvation.

Summary Of On A Tree Fallen Across The Road By Robert Frost
Sonnet Analysis
There always seems to be an impediment when trying to reach a goal, whether it be set by one s self,
or an outside force. In Robert Frost s sonnet, On a Tree Fallen Across the Road , the idea of
unavoidable obstructions that must be conquered is examined. In the poem, the author s journey is
blocked by a fallen tree, and they must determine the best way to get around the tree, so they can
continue towards their goal. Frost presents the use of metaphors and the personification of a fallen tree
to represent the obstacles that must be overcome to reach one s ideal destination.
The sonnet opens with vivid imagery of a fallen tree that blocks the journey of the protagonist. At first
it may appear that the tree is there to permanently block the passage to the destination, when in fact it
is ...to ask us who we think we are . The example of personification demonstrates that this drawback is
not just to prevent someone from travelling towards their destination, but to make them stop and
consider if that is really where they want to end up. This idea can apply to everyone, as most people
have probably experienced a time when all they needed to have a realization about who they are was
an inconvenience.
Throughout the entirety of Frost s sonnet, words like us , we , and our are used. This again is to
establish that the obstacle in the poem applies to every person on earth, and not just the narrator of the
story. This illustrates that everyone at some point faces

sad and shocked. For instance, it is shown that some children were murdered in front of the mothers
eyes which resulted with mental diseases on them (Martinsen 2010, 43). Despite the fact that all these

On the other hand, at McWanes Tyler Pipe plant you can find the signs

This realization strikes a chord in me as I realize that different perspectives on the drinking fountain and the site form a network of power and relationships that can shape meanings and create differences. It is clear that the meanings of the drinking fountain are produced through the complex negotiations that make up social process and practices through which we produce and interpret images. (Cartwright 49) Continuing my journey at the fountain, I decide to bend down to touch the side of the monument to feel the texture of the polished granite material. • 4. Diary Of Anne Frank Diary Analysis The Diary of Anne Frank is story about a young teenage girl that was trying to hide from being persecuted from the Nazis because of her religion. During that time, survival was the only thing that was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a bookcase that led to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years later. They were taken back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called typhus. The only thing that remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and insight to be in the mind of a teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes but the main ones are stress, grief, and mental illness. Stress was unavoidable during this time of her life. She was born in a wealthy family and worrying about suitors for potential marriage material. She was worrying if she would be good enough for them or if they ll be good enough for her father. She went from being young and care free to being young and terrified. The day that they received the letter to work in the camps was the day that her youth and innocence died. She didn t worry about her suitors as much after that because at the end of the day, she could never trust them enough to tell them her secrets and innermost thoughts. She had to confide in a diary that her father gave her to help cope with what was happening around her. She hardly had any peace of mind knowing that they couldn t stay hiding for long. She ... • 5. Advertisement Analysis Of An Advertisement There are many things that go in to make an advertisement successful for the audience. In 2014, a photography blogger, Johnny Baker, posted a set of four photos stating that smoking dulls your senses. The ad is successful because of the use of how simple and plain the photos are but also explaining the true facts and how dangerous and expensive smoking is. To understand the purpose of this print advertisement, you must understand why Baker created these. He states, I created still life scenes that represented certain facts about smoking, these facts were chosen as they would be off putting to new smokers and people that smoke already. (baker)I feel the ad appeals more towards women than men but also relates a little to everyone because it talks about the effects that smoking has during a pregnancy and how smoking can cause your skin to wrinkle and age faster. This is important because pregnancy is wanted for most women and smoking can cause serious affect to fertility. Also, men do not care as much about wrinkles like women. All four of the photos are items, but what makes the message so powerful is Baker creates them with cardboard. He says he did this to make it eye catching and to replicate the color of the addictiveness, which is nicotine. The first picture to appear, appeals to everyone because everybody needs food to survive. It shows a drink, a hamburger and some fries, but all made from cardboard. • 6. The Need for Core Competency in an Organization According to Prahalad and Hamel, core competencies arise from the integration of multiple technologies and the coordination of diverse production skills. A core competence should provide access to a wide variety of markets, and contribute significantly to the end product benefits. It should moreover be difficult for competitors to imitate. Some examples include Philip s expertise in optical media and Sony s ability to miniaturize electronics. Core competency is the ability of an organization to perform excellently at a particular activity which can be technical innovation, developing excellent managers, marketing new innovative products or providing excellent customer services. A company may hire a team of brilliant scientists in a particular technology, but this does not imply an automatic gain of core competence in that technology. This can only happen through the combined integrated efforts of employees with their individual skills and experience gained along with the resources of the organization including the way information, technology and relationships are used for the advancement of the organisation. It is the effective coordination among all the groups involved in bringing the product to market that results in a core competence. It is the core competencies of an organization that acts as a differentiator for it distinguishes the organisation from its competitors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structure of economics is built on the law of demand. The law of demand simply says that when the price of a good rises, the amount demanded falls, and when the price falls, the amount demanded rises. An increase in demand means that the demand curve will shift to the right. A decrease in the price of the product will not shift the demand curve, but will increase the quantity demanded (Henderson, 2008). The Coefficient of Determination Interpretation is the accuracy of the predictor of the independent variable on the dependent variable value. The coefficient of determination is calculated as the square of the correlation coefficient between the sample and predicted data. How well a regression model fits the data is shown through the coefficient of determination. The value of the coefficient of determination shows the percentage of variation that can be explained by the regression equation and is used to show how accurately a regression model can predict future outcomes (Mahvish Zehra, n.d.). He inspired people to search for answers, and reject popular beliefs. As a result, Socrates was brought to trial by the dikasts (male jurors) on two charges. Socrates had three premises that all led to the conclusion of him not being innocent and the charges being false. First, Socrates defended himself against the charge of corrupting the youth in Athens. Socrates explained that he would be also be harming himself if he was intentionally corrupting the youth. This shows that Socrates was not devoted to his family, but cared about his teachings. This also proves that Socrates was not committing a crime, but doing what he felt was his calling. It is impossible to claim that Socrates is guilty of the crimes he was charged with. Socrates did not act intentionally. He thought he was doing what he was called to do and felt he was inspiring people to think in a new way. His teachings go against the norm which many people did not agree with. Socrates accepted his punishment of a death sentence (drinking hemlock) since he knew he died a hero. He showed no remorse for his actions, but instead mocked the jurors after he was sentenced. This shows that Socrates knew his punishment was a joke since he committed no crime. Socrates believed, even before he died that he did the right thing by speaking out against the authority. The carbon cycle is how the carbon gets transferred from the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. The carbon cycle starts with plants using the CO2 in photosynthesis. During photosynthesis plants use water, energy from the sun and carbon to make a compound called glucose as well as releasing oxygen. Then as the plants get eaten by consumers the glucose (which includes carbon) moves up the food chain. Along the way animals use that glucose for energy, as well as breathing out the carbon in the form of carbon dioxide. Animals and humans harness this energy by our cells that break down the glucose. This is a process called cellular respiration. We then release the carbon in the form of carbon dioxide back into the air by exhaling or eliminating waste. If along the chain a producer or consumer dies without being eaten the carbon will decompose and will get buried under everything else. After many years the carbon that was in it will turn into fossil fuels ready to be burned by us and release more of the already abundant carbon dioxide into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Error Residual Generator for Fault Detection and Isolation in a Data Acquisition System Used For Carbon Mono Oxide Nitrogen Oxide Monitoring Abstract clean air is a basic necessity for all human beings living on earth, yet about 80% of world s population breathes air that has pollutants which exceed the World Health Organization s recommended level. Environmental air pollution has significant influence on the concentration of constituents in the atmosphere leading to effects like global warming and acid rains. To avoid such adverse imbalances in nature, an air pollution measuring system is of utmost importance. This paper presents fault detection and isolative model implemented in a novel fault tolerant microcontroller based data acquisition system design for air pollutant concentration measurement in industrial facilities in Nigeria. A supervisory control unit was incorporated in the data acquisition system design in an attempt at robust control. The model utilizes weighted standard deviation /data variance method to detect anomalies and correlation in measured data, with a view to data intelligence elicitation, an error residual generator was designed to handle fault isolation and accommodation. Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both ... The Book of Hosea is one among the several books of the Hebrew scripture and appears as the first in the order of the twelve Minor Prophets. When you take into account these three factors, and maybe a few more, it will very much decide what kind of gamer you would like to be, or, what is best for you at the time. For some people money may not be an issue and deciding can be relatively easy as both is an option. However, for many of us, we have to take more time to decide. When first figuring out what direction is the best one, the initial thing many consider before deciding between buying a console or a PC for gaming is cost. A current generation console can cost anywhere in the range from two hundred up to around six hundred dollars. The Legacy Of A Free Market Economy Essay Perestroika When Gorbachev made an attempt at economic reform, introduced in 1987 as Perestroika, it was not enough to revive the economy and reverse the period of stagnation and excessive military spending that was crippling the economy. If anything, it made it worse. Perestroika introduced a free market economy, essentially the basics of capitalism, and aimed to improve life for Soviet citizens and working conditions. In theory, the reward of working was meant to stimulate the people to work even harder, which in the end would aid the Soviet economy and revive it. This was far from what happened. What Gorbachev devised aimed to keep basis of the Soviet economic structure, but modernize it with aspects of a free market economy, yet it was not enough of a change to revamp the economy. This difference occurred because the Spanish Friars and the conquistadors were more focused on getting labor out of the natives while the English settlers mainly wanted to save the indigenous people, who the English colonists thought were savage and doomed. On the other hand, there was similarity in the way the Spanish and English forced the Native Americans to war after attacking their religion and taking their land. The way the Spanish used the encomienda system. This was a system set up by the Spanish king in which he lent out land to conquistadors to make profit by using anything that was on the land including people. During these events we can understand some major plot similarities. Some shared plot points that I discovered while reading. For instance both adventures are started by another source. • 39. Summary Of On A Tree Fallen Across The Road By Robert Frost Sonnet Analysis There always seems to be an impediment when trying to reach a goal, whether it be set by one s self, or an outside force. In Robert Frost s sonnet, On a Tree Fallen Across the Road , the idea of unavoidable obstructions that must be conquered is examined. In the poem, the author s journey is blocked by a fallen tree, and they must determine the best way to get around the tree, so they can continue towards their goal. Frost presents the use of metaphors and the personification of a fallen tree to represent the obstacles that must be overcome to reach one s ideal destination. The sonnet opens with vivid imagery of a fallen tree that blocks the journey of the protagonist. At first it may appear that the tree is there to permanently block the passage to the destination, when in fact it is ...to ask us who we think we are . The example of personification demonstrates that this drawback is not just to prevent someone from travelling towards their destination, but to make them stop and consider if that is really where they want to end up. This idea can apply to everyone, as most people have probably experienced a time when all they needed to have a realization about who they are was an inconvenience. Throughout the entirety of Frost s sonnet, words like us , we , and our are used. This again is to establish that the obstacle in the poem applies to every person on earth, and not just the narrator of the story. This illustrates that everyone at some point faces ...
