Cold Storage vs Knitwear
Cold Storage vs. Knitwear
Ajay and Durgesh studies together till 12th standards and then did M. Com and B. Tech
respectively before joining MBA together. During their degree they interned in different industries
so at to get maximum exposure and to gain practical experience. Both came from business
oriented families. Ajay s family was in retailing of textiles while Durgesh came from agriculture
based family. After their internship they looked for the prospects of doing a business jointly as
they knew each other for a very long time. Ajay was interested in entering knitwear industry while
Durgesh was interested in setting up a Cold storage. Their families were happy for their children to
starting up a business together and offered them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Total cost structure suggests that the costs they will incur during the business would be 8,196,000
per annum and the revenue generated for the project would be 12,100,000 per annum.
The total profit before tax for this business would be 2,809,000 per annum and return on capital
before tax would be 112% for running on full capacity which at the same time is to be acquired
after 3 years as suggested in the report.
Other Facts As mentioned in the case the cold storage will operate at its full capacity from the
start as there is more demand in the market to supply. Secondly, there is an opportunity available
for cold store to increase its profitability through trading. So there is an expansion opportunity for
cold storage. Managerial problems would be at low level for cold storage; these problems might
emerge after expansion in trading. There is also the opportunity of expansion with the chain of
cold storage. On the other hand for knitwear all the numbers mentioned in the report are acquired
when the facility is operating at its full capacity which is after 3 years. The profitability would be
affected by the variation in the prices which consisted of major part of cost of production. There is
an intense competition in this industry which will affect the sales prices as well and eventually
profitability. Huge promotional efforts are required in this industry to overcome competition which
would incur

The National Youth Leadership Forum
Growing up in a predominately African American school district, I would go several days
without ever being reminded of my racial identity. I was considered part of the majority
throughout all of grade school. However, this all changed as I began to stray from my normal
crowd and participate in academic enrichment and pre medical programs. The very first time that
I was reminded that I was the minority, and therefore inferior to many was when I attended a
program called NYLF. The National Youth Leadership Forum allowed me to spend ten days at a
medical forum with high school students from all over the world. When I arrived, I looked
around and realized that out of about two hundred kids, only about fifteen looked like me. I also
noticed that they had all congregated to the same area and had essentially secluded themselves.
Determined not to stay in my comfort zone and expose myself to new things, I decided to sit at a
different table. A few days into the program, several disappointing things became clear. I began to
observe ignorant remarks, disapproving glares, and belittling attitudes from many of my
surrounding peers. Admittedly, it did make me somewhat upset to know that so many felt that
because I was a black girl, I did not deserve to be at this program. It became evident that many of
my opinions, thoughts, and responses to activities were quickly discounted on most occasions. I
wondered if I had made the wrong decision by branching off from my African Americanpeers.

How The Civil War Became A War To Free The Slaves
When President Lincoln first called for troops to put down the confederate rebellion, he made no
connection between this action and an attempt to end slavery. In fact, he explicitly stated the utmost
care will be observed to avoid any devastation, any destruction of, or interference with, property... At
this point, slaverywas not yet integral to the struggle, it was much more important for the Union
to air on the side of political prudence and avoid angering loyal boarder states. However, despite
this lack of political dialogue, many abolitionists, slaves, and free blacks felt the war to preserve
the union could also be a war to end slavery. In the end, they were right, as military need
overwhelmed potential political dangers, slaves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these misgivings, the Union policy of returning slaves who had not been employed by
the Confederacy continued as the army moved through the boarder states. When they began to
move deeper south, however, this policy became much more difficult to enforce. General
Ambrose E. Burnside found this to be true after invading coastal North Carolina and finding
virtually no loyal slaveholders but many slaves who seemed to be wild with excitement and
delight. This, combined with ever increasing recognition of fugitive slave labors importance to
the Union war effort, led Congress to declare in March 1892 that Union soldiers were forbidden
to return fugitive slaves to their owners. Even with this change in policy, the federal government
continued to overrule emancipation efforts as they attempted to retain the loyalty of
slaveholding boarder states. When General David Hunter proclaimed freedom for all slaves in
South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, he was quickly overruled by President Lincoln. However,
while Lincoln clearly stuck down General Hunter s proclamation, he also offered aid to the
boarder states so they may adopt a gradual abolishment of slavery. Despite this set back, Hunter
continued to work for the emancipation of slaves, and went so far as to enlist ex slaves as soldiers
without any authorization to do so. Although his actions may have been

The St. James The Apostle Catholic Church
The St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, Georgia was my second church visit. I
visited the Catholic Church on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the eleven o clock service. The
church is located on 1000 Decatur Rd. McDonough, GA 30253. I assumed that the Presbyterian
Church was very different from my community church but the St. James the Apostle Catholic
Churchexperience was no comparison to the Covenant Presbyterian Church whatsoever.
The first thing that I have noticed about the church is that there was unique artwork all over the
building. There were many men displayed on the front of the church building with different
figure types and wearing different clothes. The church artwork was very detailed and creative. It
was a type of artwork that I have never seen before. I also noticed a huge cross in the center of
the church building that had several figures of men surrounding the church. I had stared at the
front of the building for about five minutes before I finally walked into the church. As people were
walking inside the church, they were in formal attire. Both the men and women were well dressed
for the sermon. Once I walked inside the church, I happened to notice a huge fountain in the center
of the isle. The fountain contained holy water and several people were randomly dipping their
finger in the water and then do a sign of the cross on the chests. I assumed it was a tradition that
Catholics did before attending their seats. Rather than the church having

Comic Books, By Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, And Frank Millar
There will always be entertainment and in the 1960 s comic books ruled the entertainment
industry, and even now they dominate as comic book movies. The worlds created by Stan Lee,
Jack Kirby, and Frank Millar have become pop culture and people across the world have gazed
upon this form of art and literature combined. The protectors of the universe, as powerful as they
can be, are missing one key component, the universe. The issue that comic books have not been as
diverse as the world they protect is, has been raised many times and the controversy has been
mostly addressed. The ways in which they have been addressed has caused even more controversy.
The argument has many to believe that anyone can relate to these characters through personal...

The comic book is a way in which so many have taken to reading and observing art, and it has
changed throughout the years. In the 1930 s and 40 s a child of color or even a girl would be
able to find someone who looked like them in the comic books they purchased. They were to read
Superman and Batman, with whom both were well off and white. They had to read these
characters in order to get their entertainment before televisions became popular. In the 50 s the
comic books were still white dominated, however, a female hero was introduced as Wonder
Woman. That was the status quo until 1966 when Black Panther was introduced. The mainstream
comic scene was changed and he was followed by Falcon, Storm, and Luke Cage. That was a
changing point and yet many argue that there is still not enough representation of minorities in
comic books. The support for more diverse characters is noticeable in an article by Matthew J.
Smith Ph.D. written for The Washington Post. The article titled A Brief History of Racial and
Gender Diversity in Comic Books Movies is where he makes his point that the need for more
diverse characters in entertainment such as comic books and their motion picture counterparts. In
the article he argues that most of the population wants what they see to represent them fully.
However, he acknowledges there are many characteristics that hold true with the minority groups,

Miss Brill Mood
Tone of Miss Brill Reading through the story of Miss Brill you see a glimpse into Miss Brill life,
in that short glimpse you learn a lot about Miss Brill as a character. You see how she views the
world and see the way she looks at life. The way the author portrayed this character sets the tone
to the whole story, if I had to say what that tone is, I would describe it as loneliness. In this essay
I will explain more on the details on how I came to this conclusion. One of the first examples that
gave me this idea of loneliness is on Page 103. Other people sat on the benches and green chairs,
and they were nearly always the same, Sunday after Sunday, and Miss Brill had often noticed there
was something funny about nearly all of them. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems like it makes Miss Brill part of something, which eases her loneliness. What Miss Brill
really does do is goes to her local garden and people watches. She has perfected this technique to
look like she isn t ease dropping on people and aren t staring at people without looking creepy.
She even said it herself that she was quite the expert. The fact that she even thinks that really
shows how much time she has spent listening on into people conversations. Another example of
loneliness in this story was on Page 104, Oh, how fascinating it was! How she enjoyed it! How
she loved sitting here, watching it all! It was like a play. It was exactly like a play.....They were
all on the stage. They weren t only audience, not only looking on; they were acting. This was the
end of the story and this is when you truly see what is going on inside of Miss Brill. At this point
when she is describing everything it shows that she is sort of hallucinating it all. She pretends that
all the people including herself is in some short of play, but in reality it is just people living there
everyday lives. She thinks it s more amazing than it really

Whiteness as a Field of Study
Captain Ahab s eulogy of whiteness shows that the word white implies more than a chromatic
description. White is an untenable perfection that has haunted the American psyche since colonial
times. The idea of white spiritual superiority can only be enforced by a terrorist politico legal
system, based on brutalizing the non whites and creating a national fantasy. A national fantasy
defined by Lauren Berlant as the means to designate how national culture becomes local through
the images, narratives, monuments, and sites that circulate through personal/collective
consciousness. As Captain Ahab disregards all his craft s safety rules on his mad search of the
white whale, the American politico legal system disregarded its basic... Show more content on

It is a very new field with no journals, professional association, or annual conference. Whiteness
itself is a historically constructed expression of the full fledged member of society or citizen. The
parallel and evolving concepts of whiteness and citizenship are analyzed by the first scholars on
the field, such as Richard Dyer, Vron Ware, David Roediger, and Ruth Frankenberg.
Benefits of Whiteness
One of the most important themes on whiteness studies is the benefits of being white, such as the
privilege and power associated with being identified as white. In immigration and legal history
the main benefit is citizenship. In order to assert one s right to citizenship, it meant proving that
one was white. For the Irish, Italians, Jews, and others, becoming white was something that had to
be earned. Citizenship gave full political rights, and it was proof of whiteness. Under a strong
influence of the main arguments of The Rise and Fall of the White Republic, Roegiger s book The
Wages of Whiteness reveals that whiteness has never benefited all whites equally, but some latter
scholars dispute that many whites had no benefits at all. The author s aim in this text is to explain
the role of race in the development of organized labor, and to give whiteness its rightful place in
that story. The white workers got a reward for their race loyalty with both financial and broader
benefits. Their freedom

Why Is Anne Frank Important
In the story of Anne Frank, Anne and her family go into hiding to get away from the Nazis and
stay safe. After Anne and her family gets caught they had a hard journey. The historical events in
Anne Frank impact the story in plenty of different ways, for instance, they impact the mood and
actions of the people in hiding. The first thing that will be talked about is the mood of the story.
The mood changes a lot throughout the story. A historical event that proves this is It s the
silence in the nights that frightens me the most. Everytime I hear a creak in the house, or a step
on the street outside, I m sure they re coming for us. This event impacts the drama by making the
people scared for their lives not to get caught. The direct quote For the first time Anne realizes
what going into hiding means. This supports the thesis because now Anne knows what it s
actually going to be like while in hiding. It s giving her a dark reality check and changing her
mood. When Anne s mood changes she does different things, when she is scared she panics and

In texts, writers tend to form characters that have comparison and contrast in order for the readers
to see the difference of the characters better. For example in The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, the
boy and the Englishman tend to be alike but simultaneously very different. As for The Fault in Our
Stars by John Green, the two main characters Hazel Grace and Augustus deal with the same
problems but in contrastive ways. A Personal Legend is one s destiny in his or her life. In the book

Augustus on the other hand feared of oblivion, wanted to be remembered, and didn t accept the
fact that death will be the endpoint. This made him live his day to the very fullest every single
day. He treated his parents the same way he did after and before he was diagnosed with cancer.
This was the difference between how Hazel Grace and Augustus had dealt with their sickness.
But, both of them loved each other without any doubt and both did care for each other. They
used the phrase, Okay? Okay as a metaphor resembling always; a love that will last for an infinity.
The two of them together understood how life was fragile and death was so unexpected. They
knew that pain was inevitable but they would have to decide how much it hurt them. Until
Augustus tragic death, Hazel Grace and Gus never left each other s side. Lastly, Hazel and
Augustus were proven wrong. Instead of life and death being the end, it was actually part of the
biggest infinity either of them could have

exceptions like Oscar Schindler who had his own ideology unlike Eichmann who was part of the
process whereby ugly, degrading, murderous, and unspeakable acts become routine and are
accepted as normal. Hannah willingly engaged in the path of enlightenment knowing the bitter
consequences she might face. Although Arendt started Eichmann in Jerusalem as a trial report, it

Populist Vs Omaha
And Then There Were Sixteen The Omaha Platform of 1892 didn t immediately bring the results
that the Populists were looking for. However, it did eventually lead to some precisely notable
changes in the governmental practices America knows today. Take, for example, the Graduated
Income Tax demand made in the Omaha Platform. The Populists asked for a change in the way
workers were paying taxes, considering at that time, taxes were paid by the population of each state,
not by how much that population earned. Furthermore, the taxes were not managed by the federal
government, they were collected by the individual states. There was an obvious problem with this
type of taxation and the Populists demanded that the issue be solved. Unfortunately,

Every woman knows this well. They are always faced with another person basing their worth on

foundation for many stories throughout the history of literature. However, few novels exhibit
conflicts of these themes breaking apart, conveying a broken relationship, a search for vengeance,

Classifying Sentences In The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas
Objective: At the end of this lesson, students will be able to classify sentences according to their
type of sentence structure.
1. Introduce the topic
Today, we are going to learn how to analyze sentences and classify them according to their sentence
structure using the book The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. First, we will be looking at the
different type of sentences that the writer uses in her writing. Then, we will use some of these
sentences to learn how to classify a sentence as simple, compound, complex, or compound complex.
2. Share Examples
Let s take a look at these four sentences that I encountered in this book (write them on the board):
These four sentences show the four different type of sentence structures that you will be able to
classify after working with the different types of sentences.
3. Provide Information

In Individuals, Insanity
The term nationalism refers to loyalty of an individual or a group to a nation. This term is
primarily used when referring to a group which has extreme love for their own country but hatred
for others; these people can go to any extent for the sake of protecting their country. Friedrich
Nietzsche explained this as In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and

According to Karl Marx theory, class struggle is actually the struggle between two classes; the
bourgeoisie owner of the capital and the proletariat the labor. There are many examples of class

The Use Of Xylans And Xylanases Has Grown Remarkably
In recent years, the biotechnological use of xylans and xylanases has grown remarkably
(Aristidou and Pentillä 2000; Subramaniyan and Prema 2002; Beg et al., 2001; Techapun et al.,
2003). The end products of xylan degradation of considerable importance in commercial
applications are furfural and xylitol (ParajГі et al., 1998). Xylan can be converted to ОІ D
xylopyranosyl and its oligosaccharides via two types of hydrolysis: acid or enzymatic. Acid
hydrolysis is often preferred because it is faster, but it is accompanied by the formation of toxic
compounds that may hinder subsequent microbial fermentation. Furthermore, in the long run, it can
lead to corrosion of the metallic equipment that comes in contact with the acid. Recently, some
industrial companies have shown interest in the development of efficient enzymatic processes to be
used instead of acid hydrolysis in the treatment of material containing hemicellulose. Commercial
xylanases are industrially produced, for example, in Japan, Finland, Germany, Republic of Ireland,
Denmark, Canada and the USA. The microorganisms used to obtain these enzymes are Aspergillus
niger, Trichoderma sp. and Humicola insolens. Nevertheless, commercial xylanases can also be
obtained from bacteria. Xylanase began to be used in the 1980s: initially in the preparation of
animal feed and later in the food, textile and paper industries. Currently, xylanase and cellulase,
together with pectinases, account for 20% of the world enzymemarket.

Basic Math Facts On Math
Michalczuk‟s (2007) understood basic math facts to be an important skill for students to
succeed in math. Michalczuk (2007) generalized students who could answer single digit, 0 9,
multiplication problems (2 times 3, or 5 times 7, etc.) Within three seconds will do well at math
and those that answer in less than one second will do excellent at math (p. 1). Perso (2007) has
defined the looking back to basics as a need to teach and focus on the basic arithmetic skills needed
as a skill for higher level mathematics learning.
In addition, Hersh (2009) stated that skills in general are more important than ever because they
allow students to further their learning as well as make judgments about the meaning, adequacy,
and accuracy of the overall content. Clavel (2003) stated if students wanted to engage and be
successful in higher order mathematical thinking skills, mastery of the multiplication table was
critical. Henry and Brown (2008) reported students who learn to use derived fact strategies in
concert with memorization are more likely to develop mathematical proficiency than those students
who have memorized the facts without supplementary strategies (p. 172).
Wallace and Gurganus (2005) identified students who mastered the multiplication facts, not only
acquired a more positive attitude to mathematics learning, but they also developed an overall
positive mathematics experience. Basic math fact fluency provided the necessary foundation to
succeed in higher level

This Paper Offers A Critical Reflection And Analysis Of
This paper offers a critical reflection and analysis of my genogram. My family consists of two
completely different families thrown together who coexist together without much intermingling.
When viewed as one unit, I would describe my family as a loose knit, hardworking, Black middle
class, southern, Christian family. I use the term loose knit because my family is not close at all. We
can go months without talking to or seeing each other and there is nothing wrong with that. There
have been many times I have been in conversation with family friends and find out information
about my family because we do not interact with family members often. The anchor that each of us
is close to is our mother, Sandra Smith Graves.
Black middle class is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another southern custom in my family is the unspoken expectation that nothing or nobody comes
before family. Though we are distant as a family when our family is involved everything else
becomes secondary. The last custom that my family places a huge emphasis on is the honoring and
respect for elders.
The last way I want to describe my family is as Christian. All of my family members are
practicing Christians. My father s side of the family has traditionally been Baptist, while my
mother s side of the family has deep roots in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Through
doing this assignment, I found out that my maternal grandfather was an AME pastor. Church has
always been a pillar of my family. As children, we had no choice but to attend church because it is
what our parents felt was best for us.
Now that I have offered analysis and reflection on the extended family field of my family system
on a macro level, I want to provide a microscopic look as it relates to individuals and individual
relationships within my family system. As previously mentioned my family tends to have a level
of homeostasis that is comfortable with distance and long periods of not interacting. This does not
mean we do not love each other; we are just comfortable loving at a distance. This is connected to
one of our unspoken rules and expectations, which is do not feel bad if I do not call you or interact
with you regularly. This unspoken

Analysis Of I Put A Spell On You
This song was created for a british musical and other artists have covered the song but Nina Simone
covered the song for her 1965 album I Put a Spell On You and brought the most attention and
notoriety to the it.
The speaker is someone who is trying to finding their own confidence and how to recover from
bad days and when they figure it out how they feel. The first stanza she mentions mundane things
that most people would not see the meaning or beauty in like birds flying high and sun in the sky .
These things are normal but nothing exciting so it shows the way she is feeling is also bland or
ordinary. These things could be a symbol for how her day is, and this day would be in between a
good and bad day. Nothing inherently bad or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally she changes to that s what I mean , which is an indicator that she is more confident
and does not need the validation of others. She also explains that these ordinary things she is
describing is the old world and were boring but now since she sees them differently, because of her
new found confidence, they are a new world she is experiencing.
In the final stanza the imagery she uses is recognizable to everyone but are yet udderly unique
just like the Scent of the pine . This is what the song was building towards because she is now
fully confident. This is the best day she could have, and the only real difference is how she felt
and how her own strength made her day good. The confidence she has give her freedom to be self
assured in her own feelings so she now says I know how I feel . The whole time she tries to get
other people to understand her then she realizes she knows what she means and that is all the
validation she needs.
Throughout the song It s a new dawn, it s a new day, it s a new life for me, And I m feelin good
is repeated and it adds to the comparison, or the symbolism it might be, of what her day is like to
nature. It also adds to the theme of not every day being able to be bad and how that you can
recover from anything in life, because you can start a new each day. I also think there is an
underlying theme of self worth

Time In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Dreams engulf Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream throughout this play from when
Hippolyta and Theseus talk about their wedding to Puck s final soliloquy. Hippolyta tells
Theseus, Four nights will quickly dream the night away the time (Shakespeare 25). She uses
dreaming as a form of time measurement. At the end of the play, Puck says in his final soliloquy,
And this weak and idle theme, no more yielding but a dream, gentles, do not reprehend: if you
pardon, we will mend (Shakespeare 133 134). He conveys that if he offends anyone in the
audience, he advises them to think of the play as a dream. The roles of dreams involve time,
emotions, and love. Some people believe that dreams carry substance; others do not. Aristotle

Shakespeare s plays typically involve two character s to one of his actors, so the solution [of
having more roles than actors] was doubling the roles (Smith 2). However, doubling was not
simply a practical necessity, but a representational technique that could also make connections and
contrasts between distinct characters or worlds (Smith 2). Some characters reverse roles in A
Midsummer Night s Dream: Theseus for Oberon, Hippolyta for Titania, and the rude mechanicals
for the fairy attendants. Everyone, it seems, in Dream is always someone else (Smith 2).
Displacement takes place when we transform the person or object we are really concerned about to
someone else (Freud 7). Displacement occurs everywhere in this play. An example of this behavior
occurs in Act I when Egeus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius and not Lysander. Hermia s
opinion remains the opposite. Hermia is willing to enter a convent rather than marry her father s
choice, Demetrius, but the play does nothing to indicate why she should so strongly prefer
Lysander (Smith 6). Lysander and Demetrius appear interchangeable. At the end of the play, the
boundaries between Dream and reality seem blurry to the character as they awake from there

(Shakespeare Act V). The characters do so many things and fall asleep abundantly that they can not

The Issue Of Legalizing Gambling
INTRODUCTION
Casinos are all throughout the country, but are they a positive influence for our society? Our
economy? There are people on all sides of this issue; some people have difficulty determining the
reasons behind legalizing gambling in the first place. In a panel data analysis done by Doug Walker
and John Jackson, gambling is legalized to offer other opportunities for states to increase revenue
(Walker and Jackson 1). This explains why legalizing gambling is important to state governments,
saying states need different revenue options and that gambling would help with an increase in
revenue for the states.
Other people on this issue wonder if casinos can be consistently relied upon for state revenue.
According to Forbes, the casino industry in Las Vegas has been decreasing because of the
recession from 2007 2009. Outside of the United States, the industry has increased over the past
few years (Forbes). This indicates that the casino business isn t as big as it was before the
recession. This has big implications on state revenues and budgeting. Global Gaming Business
Magazine is along those lines, saying two casinos in Atlantic City are empty; not enough supply of
casinos for the demand (Global Gaming Business Magazine). The recession has made significant
impacts on the industry and the industry can t keep up. And states need to be aware of these issues
so they don t make the same mistakes as Atlantic City. While they increased economic development,
Atlantic City did

A View From The Bridge Tension Essay
Tension in Arthur Miller s A View From the Bridge
In A View From the Bridge , Arthur Miller explores a variety of themes in the relationships
between the main characters in order to build tension for the audience. Firstly, through Eddie s talk
with Alfieri, we can see that he is jealous of Rodolfo s relationship with Catherine, and his
eventual loss of authority in his own house leads to anger and a desire to once again become the
stereotypical alpha male. This creates tension because the audience knows that he will want his
authority back, and as he gets more and more desperate, the audience may think that he would do
anything to regain control over his household. Secondly, although early in the ... Show more content

In Rodolfo s case, he quickly finds several reasons Rodolfo is slightly built, blond, a good singer
and dancer, and he can cook and make dresses. Moreover, Mike and Louis seem to share this view:
He comes around, everybody s laughing, Mike is shown to say. The stage directions indicate
multiple times that Mike and Louis laugh, and finally, they explode in laughter . This creates
tension because if people find out that the person they laugh at is related to Eddie, then it will
lower people s opinions on himself too, and the audience knows he does not want this. After
this, is shown to tell Catherine that Rodolfo is a hit and run guy and only bowing to his passport
. This creates tension because there is a sense of him abusing his power and the trust that
Catherine has in him, and the audience does not know if she will realize this or what course of
action she will take if she does. She protests disbelief but is clearly shaken until Beatrice reassures
her. We can tell that she trusts Beatrice on this though, as Catherine is shown to say: All right and
Ok as if to agree with Beatrice s views. Also, the stage directions say: Catherine, sensing now an
imperious demand. The words imperious demand may suggest that Beatrice is ordering her rather
than discussing or asking her, and this creates tension because the audience

Ancient Greece s Influence On Western Civilization
Much can be said about the Greeks and their contribution to Western Civilization greatly and how
they paved the way. The Greeks subsidized Western Civilization greatly, contributing areas of
architecture, government, and many more. The Greeks built the Parthenon, a temple dedicated the
infamous goddess Athena, who they viewed as there patron. The famous temple has columns and
groundwork that characterizes Greek architecture. The architects were concerned with conducting
a sense of perfect balance to reflect cooperation and order in the universe. They were the first to
think of the idea of democracy, a system in which people govern themselves rather than being ruled
by a king; they also valued beauty and imagination. The civilization of ancient Greeceblossomed for
more than 2,500 years ago but the ideas of the ancient Greeks continue to influence the way we live
today. People of ancient Greeceseeked to explain the world through the laws of nature. Greece
produced many magnificent achievements in areas of science, philosophy arts and government that
still influence our lives. Ancient Greek philosophy focused on the role of reason and inquiry. It had
a meaningful influence on latest philosophy, as well as science. The impact from ancient Greek and
Hellenistic philosophers was expanded to medieval Muslim philosophers and scientists, to the
European Renaissance and Enlightenment, to the modern technology and natural sciences. Ancient

The Great Gatsby And Angry Mindsets Of Modernism
Modernism brought a new era to fiction as a whole. With World War One raging distress and fear
to people worldwide, the modernists as a whole were very angry. They were angry with the
propaganda of the time telling them that war was good; those who d seen the battlefield knew
better. They despised their didactic Victorian predecessors, who taught clear divisions between right
and wrong. Modernists instead believed that authority figures were corrupt and that morality is
often unclear. This comes to light especially within the poems of Eliot and Yeats, and especially in
the modernist manifesto Blast. With this lack of clarity, the writing of this time shifted
dramatically. The writings reflect the confused, frightened, and angry mindset of... Show more

The Apostle Paul sees visions of immense human suffering during the apocalypse, all of which
are contrasted against miraculously beautiful images of eternal happiness. Perhaps Yeats is
snickering at the Bible itself with all it s little contradictions as it begs people to believe in it. Or
perhaps Yeats is bringing out the fear that underlies Christianity a fear of hell, of losing one s
purpose, of not being included in the rapture and suffering the consequences. Yeats is clearly
mocking Christianity and the idea of a Second Coming as if people are not already living in a
consistent state of suffering and happiness already. Eliot uses a an even bolder approach in his
poem The Hollow Men . The epigraphs start with an allusion to Conrad s novella Heart of
Darkness, simply saying Mistah Kurtz he dead (2318). Considering the character Kurtz acted like
as a God like figure that ended up murdering the native Africans, Eliot sets his poem up with a great
disrespect toward authority figures before it even

The Sumer poem of Inanna is a metaphoric tale of a woman who surreptitiously acquires her
birthright, an inheritance of dominance and provision for her people. Inanna, Queen of Heaven

heavens and earth with the underworld. The poem begins with the story of creation ... and when
heaven had moved away from the earth, and the earth separated from heaven (P 4) so were the
gods separated from the underworld. A deep desire arose within Inanna s grandfather Enki, the
God of Wisdom and the Waters. Enki missed his granddaughter Ereshkigal, who was deigned to

History of Christianity and the Christian Church
1)Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and
believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their
own life. He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern
circled around this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked
about the Kingdom of Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought
more about a metaphorical kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul
believed people are justification by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being
baptized in order to be justified. Jesus spoke to Jesus; Paul spoke to Gentiles, so the law Moses
wasn t as important.
2)In the year 800, Pope Leo named Charlemagne the Holy Roman Empire. This upset the Byzantine
emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they
didn t want a western Emperor over them. Things continued to get worse and in 1054, church split
into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism
were the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as
time went on language differences got in the way. Also, the west put more emphasis on Jesus s
humanity while the east focused on his divinity. Today, the churches accept each other but they

Positive Effects Of Raising Minimum Wage
What comes into mind when the thought of minimum wage occur? What do you think about the
relationship between the raise of minimum wage and poverty? Does raising the minimum wage
going to reduce poverty among low income family? These questions arise since 2014, if whether the
us government should raise the minimum wage. Nowadays, the american wages has brought a lot
of debate. Most authors have different perspective and approach about the idea of raising minimum
wage. Therefore, the authors of article such as Millennial Thoughts: Minimum wage and my take

to the negatives effects that it will have to the economy.
The raise of the minimum wage will have positive effects and improve the lifestyle of minimum

The Competition Into The Dynamics Of Political Affiliation...
For the two final replications, BIRG is studied beyond competition between teams in a sporting
context. The first study to be discussed carries competition into the dynamics of political affiliation
during national elections (Boen et al., 2002), and the last study going further by considering peer
relationships and affiliative identity (J. K. Dijkstra et al., 2010).
Political affiliations. Boen et al. (2002) followed Cialdini et al. s (1976) first method to observe
BIRG: establishing affiliation using emblems and representative symbols. In the study (conducted
during election period), the researchers counted the number of households that displayed posters or
removable lawn signs that convey support for a political party; these field observations were
conducted two days prior to and one day after the election date.
The number of positions won in Belgium s government was based on the total number of votes that
each party has received; as a consequence, party supporters reacted differently based on the relative
win loss percentages for each party. Citizens who associated themselves with parties that eventually
suffered great losses in the elections immediately removed any election materials that announced
their connection with the party. Conversely, those associated with parties that won significantly
retained the display of their materials for longer durations. In some cases, previously unmarked
households (i.e. did not announce their affiliation) began to display posters

Ethical Issues Of Multinational Corporations Essay
ETHICAL ISSUES IN MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS
Introduction
A multinational is defined as an enterprise operating in several countries but managed from its
home country.
Ethics as a philosophy is defined as the discipline concerned with what is morally good and bad,
right and wrong.
Ethical issues arise when one is unsure of what is the right course of action to be taken at a single
time. This problem becomes exponentially complex when applied to a multinational organization.
Globalisation has enabled many companies to venture abroad in an attempt to grow their market
presence while also boosting profitability, acquire cheaper raw materials, and gain access to low
cost of labor.
Generally, any company or group that derives a quarter of its revenue from operations outside of its
home country is considered a multinational corporation.
There are four categories of multinational corporations: a multinational, decentralized corporation
with strong home country presence a global, centralized corporation that acquires cost advantage
through centralized production wherever cheaper resources are available an international company
that builds on the parent corporation s technology or R D a transnational enterprise that combines
the previous three approaches.
Multinational corporations operate across many countries, and each country has its own laws and
cultures and also diverse ethical practices and social norms.
Some of the most notable multinationals include

Greenbush Vs. Burke Heights
Greenbush vs. Burke Heights
This report will be on the research I have discovered first hand as well as through statistical data that
compares and contrasts the neighborhoods of Greenbush and Burke Heights, both located in
Madison, Wisconsin. When researching these two neighborhoods, I focused on the neighborhoods
housing statistics, demographics of their residents, and the money circulating within the
neighborhoods. Another aspect I paid attention to while comparing the neighborhoods was the
economic and employment opportunities available within the communities. These benefits directly
correlate to the amount of capital that is available for residents. Lastly, I took note of the
entertainment, retail, and physical possibilities that prevailed in these neighborhoods.
The first subject I will compare is the housing within each neighborhood. First, in the Greenbush
neighborhood, the majority of people are either college students or young adults between the ages

Multicultural Society
Multicultural Society.
The retrospective view of human history shows that it has always been a moving and mixing of
peoples caused by different reasons. For centuries the intervention of cultures grew reciprocally. As
a result of this process people now have mixed cultures and many intercultural conflicts. The United
States is a great example of a pluralistic society made up of many different cultures and nationalities.
It is a nation that is composed of people who came here from around the world. In the 20th century,
after new immigration laws were enforced, two opposing trends became obvious: the one state that
America is multicultural; the other claims that America is monoculture.
Ishamel Reed, a popular and well known African ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well as Reed, Schlesinger describes America as a nation made up of different cultures and
ethnicities. We have always been a multiethnic country , writes the author. He also traces back the
creation and evolution of the American culture, and estimates the present contradictory character of
it. Both authors speak in unison about the uniqueness of American culture. Schlesinger quotes the
French author of the 18th century who said: Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new
race of men. If Reed describes blurring of cultural styles in America as a cultural bouillabaisse ,
Schlesinger names it The melting pot . Moreover, Schlesinger admits the healthy consequences of
new immigrations laws. He is against racism and discrimination of minorities and salutes the
recognition of achievements of those groups, which were subordinated during the high noon of
Anglo dominance.
Nevertheless, the author is threatened by the fact that dividing the country along different cultures,
idolizing of ethnicities, and welcoming group separatism will lead to very bad consequences. Group
separatism crystallizes the differences, magnifies tensions, and intensifies hostilities. According to
Schlesinger, America has always been a country where many different cultures get along together
without any serious visible problems due to their assimilation to American culture, values, laws,
customs, and beliefs. Schlesinger conveys

Theme Of War In A Farewell To Arms
Ernest Hemingway s novel A Farewell to Arms covers a romance that takes place during World
War I. The novel itself came out shortly after the war, and was the first of Hemingway s books to
become a best seller. Essentially, the novel contrasts the horrors of war with the romance of Henry
and Catherine. Throughout the plot, Hemingway, a World War I veteran himself, uses the events of
the book to make a statement about his thoughts on war. The core message of Hemingway s A
Farewell to Armsis that war damages the soldiers who fight in it both physically and emotionally,
which is primarily illustrated by the number of deaths caused directly and indirectly by the war,
the actions Henry is forced to take over the course of the book, and Henry s growing cynicism
towards war. The first piece of evidence supporting this theme is the deaths caused by the war,
especially those important to Henry. Directly, soldiers are killed in battle, from being shot by
enemies, hit by mortarshells, or in one case, shot by their own allies. When Henry and his
companions are separated from the Italian army and try to get back to the main forces, as they
attempt to cross an embankment, Two more shots came from the thick brush and Aymo, as he was
crossing the tracks, lurched, tripped and fell face down (Hemingway 213). Henry believes the
Italian soldiers were the ones who fired the shots, saying, We are in more danger from Italians than
Germans. The rear guard are afraid of everything. The Germans

How Taxpayer Can Help A Claim Of Negligence Against The...
Taxpayer can also bring a claim of negligence against the Milwaukee Does. The question of the
Does liability follows a very similar analysis of that of the City of Milwaukee, with a few
exceptions. First, Bongo s conduct in shooting the gun will likely be attributed to the Milwaukee
Does as the operator of the event under the legal theory of respondeat superior. Second, in contrast
to the City, the Does will likely not fall under a safe place because they do not own the arena.
Rather, the Does will likely by subject to the traditional negligencestandard of ordinary care. The
legal theory of respondeat superior stands for the proposition that through vicarious liabilitya master
may be liable for the acts of his or her servants in the course of his or her employment. Under this
legal theory courts have found basketball teams labile for the actions of mascots employed by
the team for the negligent acts of the mascot during the course of game. Accordingly, the Does
can be found liable for the negligent acts of Bongo. A Wisconsin court is likely to find a team
liable to spectators for the acts of its mascots and accordingly Taxpayer s recovery against the
Milwaukee Does will likely be successful. The Does most likely instructed Bongo to use the T shirt
cannon during the game as a promotional and entertainment event. Moreover, the Does benefit
greatly from ticket sales and provided the mid game entertainment as a means for increase the
enjoyment of the game, resulting in

In Both Sylvia Plath’S The Bell Jar And Kate Chopin’S The
In both Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar and Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the female protagonist is
portrayed as an artist who suffers from mental instability. Although the works were written over 60
years apart, The Awakening in 1889 and The Bell Jar in 1963, both novels were revolutionary for
their times in terms of feminism, extramarital sex, and suicide. Both works explore the ways that
females may temporarily escape, or attempt to escape, the confines of their own minds: the chains
that lead them to attempt or complete suicide. Each woman finds brightness in her art, Edna with
her painting and Esther through writing, immersion in water, and the ability to embrace her
sexuality. Both novels use vivid symbolism to portray the feelings of... Show more content on

Joyce Dyer comments that the bird and Edna resemble each other in another way; both are
meant to be wild, but are domesticated for the sake of the family. She even has Madame
Ratignolle feel [her] shoulder blades, to see if [her] wings were strong hoping that she too has
wings to allow her to fly away from the expectations of tradition set on her (Chopin 300.) While
Edna expresses that she is not thinking of any extraordinary flights, to Arobin, she does not deny
her wish to fly, and escape from society (300). Unlike before, when Edna wishes to have wings, in
this instance Edna realizes that she has wings, or the power to escape. This changes her true desires
from wanting to fly to not becoming one of the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to
earth (300). Although Edna has not acted upon her thoughts to become free, she is aware that she
has the power to escape and live outside of society. Through the bird symbolism, Chopin suggests
that women lack the ability to be happy within the circumstances society expects them to maintain.
Both women also find freedom through immersion in water. In The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood
finds freedom in her baths. She takes baths to clean and purify herself from the grime of the world
around her, even saying I never feel so much myself as when I m in a hot bath (Plath 20). Edna

the standard of handcrafted features. Features annotated by specialists and lin guistic data derived
from linguistic analysis modules is expen sive and ends up with the difficulty of error propagation.
Rela tion extraction plays a crucial role in extracting struc tured data from unstructured sources like
raw text. One might want to seek out interactions between medicines to create medical information
or extract relationships among people to create a simply searchable knowledgebase. We propose a
deep Convolutional Neural Network model for the multi label text relation classification task
without hand crafted features. This model outperforms the best existing model as per our
knowledge without depending much on manually engineered features with the small updates in the

Infidelity And Relationships
To gain more insight on how social media can cause infidelity in relationships, I searched social
media impact on relationships and an article, written in the summer of 2015, by Lori Ann Wagner,
and published by the Journal of Individual Psychology caught my eye. Wagner s article, When
Your Smartphone Is Too Smart for Your Own Good: How Social Media
Alters Human Relationships
argues that mediated communicationis changing the way that humans interact with each other.
Wagner states that humans desire social connections and the easiest way to meet those needs are
through social media. Humans use their five senses touch, taste, see, hear, and smell to really
understand their environment around them. Social media interferes with our... Show more content

I completely agree with that statement. When one is put in the same shoes as another, they can see
and feel the same emotions that the other portrays. Empathy is important because it bonds the
human connections. Another major point of Wagner s article was that social media can cause less
honest relationships. This is another statement that I found to be true. It is so easy to lie and scam
over the internet because anyone can take the identity of everyone since mediated communication
can block our full understanding of the environment. To debate with her statements, the reason why
People today generally prefer mediated communication rather than personal interaction... (Wagner

who have not grown up with this much technology or social media. In other words, it is much more
simple to have little conversations over technology than to meet face to face every time someone
has to say something. Also, I believe that social media allows a broader spectrum for
communicating with family and loved ones. Wagner also thinks that obsessions with texting,
updating statuses, and using Snapchat are sounding a death knell for real conversation (Wagner

Character Analysis Of Mal Reynolds And Serenity
On occasion when watching a show or movie or when reading a book we can come across
characters to whom we can easily relate. For this assignment we were asked to do just that and
find characters with whom we felt we shared characteristics that could be used to describe
ourselves. The three fictional characters that I believe most represent my personality are Mal
Reynolds from the show fireflyand the movie Serenityfor his loyalty and courage, Jack Sparrow for
his silliness and free spirited nature, and Alucard from the anime Hellsing for his professional
demeanor and mannerisms.
Captain Mal Reynolds is from the short lived, but much loved show serenity. The show was short
lived but gained a loving audience and a Movie that was supposed to help close the rather
unfinished story. In both show and move Reynolds demonstrates extreme loyalty and
protectiveness for his crew. Risking his life to take care of their ship and liveliness. In the show
there are Multiple instances where Reynolds displace his loyalty and protectiveness, such as
when he took on an enemy crew by himself while injured to give his crew a chance to live. This
attribute is a boon to Reynolds as it has earned him the loyalty and love of his crew, more so than
an average crew, they are almost like a family. This has led to them saving him as well on multiple
accounts. Such events include shooting a guy off Mel as he was being strangled and coming back
to save him from suffocation due to air loss after having sent

Internment Of Japanese Americans
The internment of Japanese Americans in the United States during World War II was the forced
relocation and incarceration in camps in the western interior of the country of between 110,000
and 120,000[5] people of Japanese ancestry, most of whom lived on the Pacific coast. 62 percent of
the internees were United Statescitizens.[6][7] These actions were ordered by President Franklin D.
Rooseveltshortly after Imperial Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor.[8]
Japanese Americans were incarcerated based on local population concentrations and regional
politics. More than 110,000 Japanese Americans in the mainland U.S., who mostly lived on the
West Coast, were forced into interior camps. However, in Hawaii, where 150,000 plus Japanese

evidence of Japanese disloyalty at the time and concluded that the incarceration had been the
product of racism. It recommended that the government pay reparations to the survivors. In 1988,
President Ronald Reagan signed into law the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, which apologized for the
internment on behalf of the U.S. government and authorized a payment of $20,000 (equivalent to
$41,000 in 2016) to each camp survivor. The legislation admitted that government actions were
based on race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership .[23] The U.S.

Compare And Contrast The Four Careers In Anthropology
Archaeologists are those who study past human cultures and behaviors. They examine material
remains of previous human societies, which include human fossils, food remains, ruins, and also
things like tools, pottery, and jewelry. Archaeologists try to reconstruct the past from their studies.
Anthropology is the comparative study of human societies and cultures and their development.
Anthropologylooks for the basis of behavior that applies to the entire populace. There are four
primary fields of anthropology which are biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, linguistic
anthropology, and archaeology. Archaeologists are anthropologists who specialize in ancient

Rooney Pickney Arledge
This quote was said by television broadcasting executive Roone Pickney Arledge, a person whom
Life Magazine declared One of the 100 most important Americans of the 20th Century and is
considered by many to be the father of modern televised sports (Boss). This quote by Arledge is
an example of his talent and know how for developing new ideas that not only provide a quality
viewing experience, but also appeal to a mass audience. His ideas were revolutionary, and changed
the way sports were watched and the entire televisionindustry forever. I initially chose to write my
paper on Roone Arledge because I have been an avid watcher of televised sports for a long time,
but I had never heard of Arledge until reading the article The Impact of Roone Arledge on
Televised Sports by Randy Roberts and James Olsen in our required reading. I thoroughly enjoyed
reading this article because I had previously never contemplated how differently sports were
televised in the past, why sports broadcastingis the way it is today, and who was largely responsible
for this dramatic change. Roone Arledge was born in Queens, New York City on July 8th, 1931
and grew up in the suburbs of Long Island where he excelled in both academics and sports. This
led him to eventually enroll at the prestigious Colombia University, where he had aspirations of
becoming a professional writer while working as editor for the student newspaper (Marc). His

  • 3. The National Youth Leadership Forum Growing up in a predominately African American school district, I would go several days without ever being reminded of my racial identity. I was considered part of the majority throughout all of grade school. However, this all changed as I began to stray from my normal crowd and participate in academic enrichment and pre medical programs. The very first time that I was reminded that I was the minority, and therefore inferior to many was when I attended a program called NYLF. The National Youth Leadership Forum allowed me to spend ten days at a medical forum with high school students from all over the world. When I arrived, I looked around and realized that out of about two hundred kids, only about fifteen looked like me. I also noticed that they had all congregated to the same area and had essentially secluded themselves. Determined not to stay in my comfort zone and expose myself to new things, I decided to sit at a different table. A few days into the program, several disappointing things became clear. I began to observe ignorant remarks, disapproving glares, and belittling attitudes from many of my surrounding peers. Admittedly, it did make me somewhat upset to know that so many felt that because I was a black girl, I did not deserve to be at this program. It became evident that many of my opinions, thoughts, and responses to activities were quickly discounted on most occasions. I wondered if I had made the wrong decision by branching off from my African Americanpeers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How The Civil War Became A War To Free The Slaves When President Lincoln first called for troops to put down the confederate rebellion, he made no connection between this action and an attempt to end slavery. In fact, he explicitly stated the utmost care will be observed to avoid any devastation, any destruction of, or interference with, property... At this point, slaverywas not yet integral to the struggle, it was much more important for the Union to air on the side of political prudence and avoid angering loyal boarder states. However, despite this lack of political dialogue, many abolitionists, slaves, and free blacks felt the war to preserve the union could also be a war to end slavery. In the end, they were right, as military need overwhelmed potential political dangers, slaves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite these misgivings, the Union policy of returning slaves who had not been employed by the Confederacy continued as the army moved through the boarder states. When they began to move deeper south, however, this policy became much more difficult to enforce. General Ambrose E. Burnside found this to be true after invading coastal North Carolina and finding virtually no loyal slaveholders but many slaves who seemed to be wild with excitement and delight. This, combined with ever increasing recognition of fugitive slave labors importance to the Union war effort, led Congress to declare in March 1892 that Union soldiers were forbidden to return fugitive slaves to their owners. Even with this change in policy, the federal government continued to overrule emancipation efforts as they attempted to retain the loyalty of slaveholding boarder states. When General David Hunter proclaimed freedom for all slaves in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, he was quickly overruled by President Lincoln. However, while Lincoln clearly stuck down General Hunter s proclamation, he also offered aid to the boarder states so they may adopt a gradual abolishment of slavery. Despite this set back, Hunter continued to work for the emancipation of slaves, and went so far as to enlist ex slaves as soldiers without any authorization to do so. • 6. The St. James The Apostle Catholic Church The St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, Georgia was my second church visit. I visited the Catholic Church on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the eleven o clock service. The church is located on 1000 Decatur Rd. McDonough, GA 30253. I assumed that the Presbyterian Church was very different from my community church but the St. James the Apostle Catholic Churchexperience was no comparison to the Covenant Presbyterian Church whatsoever. The first thing that I have noticed about the church is that there was unique artwork all over the building. There were many men displayed on the front of the church building with different figure types and wearing different clothes. The church artwork was very detailed and creative. It was a type of artwork that I have never seen before. I also noticed a huge cross in the center of the church building that had several figures of men surrounding the church. I had stared at the front of the building for about five minutes before I finally walked into the church. As people were walking inside the church, they were in formal attire. Both the men and women were well dressed for the sermon. Once I walked inside the church, I happened to notice a huge fountain in the center of the isle. The fountain contained holy water and several people were randomly dipping their finger in the water and then do a sign of the cross on the chests. I assumed it was a tradition that Catholics did before attending their seats. Rather than the church having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comic Books, By Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, And Frank Millar There will always be entertainment and in the 1960 s comic books ruled the entertainment industry, and even now they dominate as comic book movies. The worlds created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Frank Millar have become pop culture and people across the world have gazed upon this form of art and literature combined. The protectors of the universe, as powerful as they can be, are missing one key component, the universe. The issue that comic books have not been as diverse as the world they protect is, has been raised many times and the controversy has been mostly addressed. The ways in which they have been addressed has caused even more controversy. The argument has many to believe that anyone can relate to these characters through personal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The comic book is a way in which so many have taken to reading and observing art, and it has changed throughout the years. In the 1930 s and 40 s a child of color or even a girl would be able to find someone who looked like them in the comic books they purchased. They were to read Superman and Batman, with whom both were well off and white. They had to read these characters in order to get their entertainment before televisions became popular. In the 50 s the comic books were still white dominated, however, a female hero was introduced as Wonder Woman. That was the status quo until 1966 when Black Panther was introduced. The mainstream comic scene was changed and he was followed by Falcon, Storm, and Luke Cage. That was a changing point and yet many argue that there is still not enough representation of minorities in comic books. The support for more diverse characters is noticeable in an article by Matthew J. Smith Ph.D. written for The Washington Post. The article titled A Brief History of Racial and Gender Diversity in Comic Books Movies is where he makes his point that the need for more diverse characters in entertainment such as comic books and their motion picture counterparts. In the article he argues that most of the population wants what they see to represent them fully. • 8. Miss Brill Mood Tone of Miss Brill Reading through the story of Miss Brill you see a glimpse into Miss Brill life, in that short glimpse you learn a lot about Miss Brill as a character. You see how she views the world and see the way she looks at life. The way the author portrayed this character sets the tone to the whole story, if I had to say what that tone is, I would describe it as loneliness. In this essay I will explain more on the details on how I came to this conclusion. One of the first examples that gave me this idea of loneliness is on Page 103. Other people sat on the benches and green chairs, and they were nearly always the same, Sunday after Sunday, and Miss Brill had often noticed there was something funny about nearly all of them. What Miss Brill really does do is goes to her local garden and people watches. She has perfected this technique to look like she isn t ease dropping on people and aren t staring at people without looking creepy. She even said it herself that she was quite the expert. The fact that she even thinks that really shows how much time she has spent listening on into people conversations. Another example of loneliness in this story was on Page 104, Oh, how fascinating it was! How she enjoyed it! How she loved sitting here, watching it all! It was like a play. It was exactly like a play.....They were all on the stage. They weren t only audience, not only looking on; they were acting. This was the end of the story and this is when you truly see what is going on inside of Miss Brill. At this point when she is describing everything it shows that she is sort of hallucinating it all. She pretends that all the people including herself is in some short of play, but in reality it is just people living there everyday lives. She thinks it s more amazing than it really ... • 9. Whiteness as a Field of Study Captain Ahab s eulogy of whiteness shows that the word white implies more than a chromatic description. White is an untenable perfection that has haunted the American psyche since colonial times. The idea of white spiritual superiority can only be enforced by a terrorist politico legal system, based on brutalizing the non whites and creating a national fantasy. A national fantasy defined by Lauren Berlant as the means to designate how national culture becomes local through the images, narratives, monuments, and sites that circulate through personal/collective consciousness. As Captain Ahab disregards all his craft s safety rules on his mad search of the white whale, the American politico legal system disregarded its basic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a very new field with no journals, professional association, or annual conference. Whiteness itself is a historically constructed expression of the full fledged member of society or citizen. The parallel and evolving concepts of whiteness and citizenship are analyzed by the first scholars on the field, such as Richard Dyer, Vron Ware, David Roediger, and Ruth Frankenberg. Benefits of Whiteness One of the most important themes on whiteness studies is the benefits of being white, such as the privilege and power associated with being identified as white. In immigration and legal history the main benefit is citizenship. In order to assert one s right to citizenship, it meant proving that one was white. For the Irish, Italians, Jews, and others, becoming white was something that had to be earned. Citizenship gave full political rights, and it was proof of whiteness. Under a strong influence of the main arguments of The Rise and Fall of the White Republic, Roegiger s book The Wages of Whiteness reveals that whiteness has never benefited all whites equally, but some latter scholars dispute that many whites had no benefits at all. The author s aim in this text is to explain the role of race in the development of organized labor, and to give whiteness its rightful place in that story. The white workers got a reward for their race loyalty with both financial and broader benefits. Their freedom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Why Is Anne Frank Important In the story of Anne Frank, Anne and her family go into hiding to get away from the Nazis and stay safe. After Anne and her family gets caught they had a hard journey. The historical events in Anne Frank impact the story in plenty of different ways, for instance, they impact the mood and actions of the people in hiding. The first thing that will be talked about is the mood of the story. The mood changes a lot throughout the story. A historical event that proves this is It s the silence in the nights that frightens me the most. Everytime I hear a creak in the house, or a step on the street outside, I m sure they re coming for us. This event impacts the drama by making the people scared for their lives not to get caught. The direct quote For the first time Anne realizes what going into hiding means. This supports the thesis because now Anne knows what it s actually going to be like while in hiding. It s giving her a dark reality check and changing her mood. When Anne s mood changes she does different things, when she is scared she panics and when she is happy she is loud and outgoing.... Two such novels, Frankenstein and Beloved exemplify these complex relationships through the similar characteristics of the Monster and Beloved herself in their respective novels. The Use Of Xylans And Xylanases Has Grown Remarkably In recent years, the biotechnological use of xylans and xylanases has grown remarkably (Aristidou and PentillГ¤ 2000; Subramaniyan and Prema 2002; Beg et al., 2001; Techapun et al., 2003). The end products of xylan degradation of considerable importance in commercial applications are furfural and xylitol (ParajГі et al., 1998). Xylan can be converted to ОІ D xylopyranosyl and its oligosaccharides via two types of hydrolysis: acid or enzymatic. Acid hydrolysis is often preferred because it is faster, but it is accompanied by the formation of toxic compounds that may hinder subsequent microbial fermentation. Furthermore, in the long run, it can lead to corrosion of the metallic equipment that comes in contact with the acid. Recently, some industrial companies have shown interest in the development of efficient enzymatic processes to be used instead of acid hydrolysis in the treatment of material containing hemicellulose. Commercial xylanases are industrially produced, for example, in Japan, Finland, Germany, Republic of Ireland, Denmark, Canada and the USA. The microorganisms used to obtain these enzymes are Aspergillus niger, Trichoderma sp. and Humicola insolens. Nevertheless, commercial xylanases can also be obtained from bacteria. Xylanase began to be used in the 1980s: initially in the preparation of animal feed and later in the food, textile and paper industries. Currently, xylanase and cellulase, together with pectinases, account for 20% of the world enzymemarket. 1.10.1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are people on all sides of this issue; some people have difficulty determining the reasons behind legalizing gambling in the first place. • 33. History of Christianity and the Christian Church 1)Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their own life. He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern circled around this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked about the Kingdom of Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought more about a metaphorical kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul believed people are justification by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being baptized in order to be justified. Jesus spoke to Jesus; Paul spoke to Gentiles, so the law Moses wasn t as important. 2)In the year 800, Pope Leo named Charlemagne the Holy Roman Empire. This upset the Byzantine emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they didn t want a western Emperor over them. Things continued to get worse and in 1054, church split into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism were the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as time went on language differences got in the way. Also, the west put more emphasis on Jesus s humanity while the east focused on his divinity. Today, the churches accept each other but they cannot take communion in each other s ... The first study to be discussed carries competition into the dynamics of political affiliation during national elections (Boen et al., 2002), and the last study going further by considering peer relationships and affiliative identity (J. K. Dijkstra et al., 2010). Political affiliations. Boen et al. (2002) followed Cialdini et al. s (1976) first method to observe BIRG: establishing affiliation using emblems and representative symbols. In the study (conducted during election period), the researchers counted the number of households that displayed posters or removable lawn signs that convey support for a political party; these field observations were conducted two days prior to and one day after the election date. The number of positions won in Belgium s government was based on the total number of votes that each party has received; as a consequence, party supporters reacted differently based on the relative win loss percentages for each party. Citizens who associated themselves with parties that eventually suffered great losses in the elections immediately removed any election materials that announced their connection with the party. Conversely, those associated with parties that won significantly retained the display of their materials for longer durations. • 40. Ethical Issues Of Multinational Corporations Essay ETHICAL ISSUES IN MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS Introduction A multinational is defined as an enterprise operating in several countries but managed from its home country. Ethics as a philosophy is defined as the discipline concerned with what is morally good and bad, right and wrong. Ethical issues arise when one is unsure of what is the right course of action to be taken at a single time. This problem becomes exponentially complex when applied to a multinational organization. Globalisation has enabled many companies to venture abroad in an attempt to grow their market presence while also boosting profitability, acquire cheaper raw materials, and gain access to low cost of labor. Generally, any company or group that derives a quarter of its revenue from operations outside of its home country is considered a multinational corporation. There are four categories of multinational corporations: a multinational, decentralized corporation with strong home country presence a global, centralized corporation that acquires cost advantage through centralized production wherever cheaper resources are available an international company that builds on the parent corporation s technology or R D a transnational enterprise that combines the previous three approaches. Multinational corporations operate across many countries, and each country has its own laws and cultures and also diverse ethical practices and social norms. Burke Heights Greenbush vs. Burke Heights This report will be on the research I have discovered first hand as well as through statistical data that compares and contrasts the neighborhoods of Greenbush and Burke Heights, both located in Madison, Wisconsin. When researching these two neighborhoods, I focused on the neighborhoods housing statistics, demographics of their residents, and the money circulating within the neighborhoods. Another aspect I paid attention to while comparing the neighborhoods was the economic and employment opportunities available within the communities. These benefits directly correlate to the amount of capital that is available for residents. Lastly, I took note of the entertainment, retail, and physical possibilities that prevailed in these neighborhoods. The first subject I will compare is the housing within each neighborhood. First, in the Greenbush neighborhood, the majority of people are either college students or young adults between the ages of twenty and thirty two. It was obvious this age group lived in these homes seeing the dГ©cor on the front porches and the cars in the driveways. The average household income ranges between seventy and eighty five thousand dollars per year (StatisticalAtlas). Schlesinger quotes the French author of the 18th century who said: Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men. If Reed describes blurring of cultural styles in America as a cultural bouillabaisse , Schlesinger names it The melting pot . Moreover, Schlesinger admits the healthy consequences of new immigrations laws. • 43. Theme Of War In A Farewell To Arms Ernest Hemingway s novel A Farewell to Arms covers a romance that takes place during World War I. The novel itself came out shortly after the war, and was the first of Hemingway s books to become a best seller. Essentially, the novel contrasts the horrors of war with the romance of Henry and Catherine. Throughout the plot, Hemingway, a World War I veteran himself, uses the events of the book to make a statement about his thoughts on war. The core message of Hemingway s A Farewell to Armsis that war damages the soldiers who fight in it both physically and emotionally, which is primarily illustrated by the number of deaths caused directly and indirectly by the war, the actions Henry is forced to take over the course of the book, and Henry s growing cynicism towards war. The first piece of evidence supporting this theme is the deaths caused by the war, especially those important to Henry. Directly, soldiers are killed in battle, from being shot by enemies, hit by mortarshells, or in one case, shot by their own allies. When Henry and his companions are separated from the Italian army and try to get back to the main forces, as they attempt to cross an embankment, Two more shots came from the thick brush and Aymo, as he was crossing the tracks, lurched, tripped and fell face down (Hemingway 213). The question of the Does liability follows a very similar analysis of that of the City of Milwaukee, with a few exceptions. While Edna expresses that she is not thinking of any extraordinary flights, to Arobin, she does not deny her wish to fly, and escape from society (300).
