The Latin Word La Raza
The Latin word La Raza, spoken by many Latin Americans united by culture and spiritual beliefs, is
translated into the race. This idea of La Raza brings the cultures separated around the world together
based on the similar ideas of a great destiny and culture values. There are many concepts that are
different from the Anglos, which translates to white, English speaking American, but there are many
attributes that are similarly seen within each culture. Among many Anglos, there is a racist assumption
that those who are Mexican are lazy when there are cultural reasons for the way Latin Americans
choose to live. Those among the Mexican culture has a strong belief in a splendid destiny planned by
God that hasn t occurred based on the culture or groups of Mexican people s sins; such as, the thieves
and drunks (William, 1964, p. 15). This belief in God already having a plan for each individual among
the earth has created a calm atmosphere toward planning for the future. Many Mexican Americans
consider the act to plan frivolous because God has already planned their future, and they permit fate to
control their decisions. Instead of planning for the future, the most important role is family
responsibilities among the male and female presently. As stated in William s article, Gregorio said, I
owe everything to my family. Were it not for my parents love for each other, I would never have been
born. They raised me and taught me all I know...When one has a family, one is never alone

The Importance Of The Aging Population In The United States
Due to peoples life expectancy getting longer, the population of the elderly has increased. The aging
population has become one of the most worrying issues in THE UNITED STATES. Their progress,
observed in unison, and above all the speed that has been acquiring since the seventies, has caused
some fear not only in the political field but also at the academic level. With a background dominated
by medicine, economics, psychology, demography, sociology and other sciences (social and health)
have usually addressed aging as a problem and characterize old, elderly, elderly, grandparents, retirees
or senior citizens regarding passivity, burden or dependency. Here and there, old age has been viewed
negatively. A large part of the geriatrics or gerontology manuals published in the 1990s or earlier

Social definition of aging and the elderly It is considered senior to any person who is 65 or older.
However, it is necessary to warn about the arbitrariness of this decision: why are not estimated 60
years, or 70, as the lower limit when classifying this population group?. The relieved exercise of
combining from the age of 65 to the elderly with the retirees cannot be taken as a solid criterion since
it has become a common practice in our societies to invite many workers to leave the labor market at a
later age early; not forgetting that there are plenty of people who never retire because, either
materially or formally, they have never been inserted in such a market. In any case, does anyone who
has 65 years of age respond to the same sociological profile (characteristics such as his health,
educational level, economic position, family network, even his appearance) than the one who had the
same age a couple of decades ago ?. Absolutely. In addition to being arbitrary, it is an artificial
decision because no one gets up one morning being adult and the next older for the mere fact of
celebrating a

Variation Of Alleles
Genetic variation of alleles is evident through physical attributes of humans and can be attributed to
the specific sequence of nucleotides in DNA. Gregor Mendel experimented with plant breeding in
order to determine that the inheritance of different traits is dependent upon the differences in alleles,
or genes. Two loci that can measure the genetic variation in human populations are the LCT locus and
the TAS2R38 locus (Leicht McAllister, 2017). The LCT locus is located on chromosome 2, and
encodes for the enzyme lactase that breaks down lactose into its monomers to aid digestion of dairy in
the small intestine (Leicht McAllister, 2017). The two potential alleles that LCT has are C and T,
which can form three potential genotypes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were then using the Hardy Weinberg Principle to calculate the observed and expected values of
genotype frequencies within the class and compare the results using the Chi Square goodness of fit
test (Leicht McAllister, 2017). Demonstrated by the Hardy Weinberg Principle, that without any
evolutionary forces, the allele and genotype frequencies of sexual populations will remain constant
between generations (Sadava, 2011). The Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium is met be a population under
five specific conditions: no genetic mutation, random mating between individuals (no sexual
selection), infinite population size (no genetic drift, or any chance of variation with allele frequencies),
no gene flow (migration of new individuals into or out of the population), and no natural selection (all
genotypes contain the same relative fitness for survival and reproduction). If any of these conditions
are not met, the population is not in Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium and evolution is occurring. The
expected frequencies within a population are determined by two equations: p + q = 1 for allele
frequencies, and p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 for genotype frequencies (Sadava, 2011). After using the Hardy
Weinberg Principle, we used the Chi Square goodness of fit test to compare the expected and observed
frequencies of the LCT and TAS2R38 loci, we

Dylan Klebold Research Paper
Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are two of the most historic mass murders in American history. They
are the two kids who attacked columbine high school on april 20, 1999. Ever since that day people
have been constantly looking for the reason they did it but they actually did it for a number of reasons,
not just one like many people think. There is a number of reasons for why Dylan and Eric did what
they did, and why they clicked so well together. Dylan Klebold was a very smart kid but he was also
very troubled. Dylan was very depressed and also was fueled by a rage; He was often at times
described as a live wire. During his time in high school he often felt like he did not fit in with anyone
other than his friend Eric whom he developed a hatred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eric Harris is described by experts as a textbook example of a psychopath. Just like Dylan, Eric also
did not feel like he fit in with other students despite the fact that Eric was more talkative and was alot
more outgoing than Dylan. Eric was also a very angry person but most most of the time stayed very
calm under pressure unlike Dylan, but he would rant about his anger on his own personal website, a
website filled with violent tirades against the people who were mean to Eric or anyone he simply did
not like. Eric was believed to be a psychopath with no remorse or empathy for the things he was going
to do which is most likely why he was so okay with killing as many people as possible and really just
releasing all his pinned up fury against the place that he hated most. Dylan and Eric had a very strange
chemistry between their often very different personalities. Even though their personalities were often
very different they were both very skilled at math and even had a mutual love of technology. The
reason these two really clicked though is because they could play off each others strengths pretty well
in a variety of situations. For example when they had a run in with the cops Dylan often panicked but
Eric remained

Arranged Marriages And Love Marriages

Arranged Marriage:
In the broadest sense, marriages have been divided into two general categories; arranged marriages
and love marriages. As the name implies, an arranged marriage is defined as a marriage where the
bride and groom are exclusively selected by a third party (usually their parents), while in a love
marriage, people choose their marital partners based on their feelings or attraction for one another. In
America and Western Europe, marriages based on love, have dominated their cultures for a long time
and, as a result, when it comes to arranged marriages, most American s first reaction would be: Oh!
This kind of marriage is so relentless and incredible, because we have no voice. However, times are
changing, and so is the attitude toward marriage. America is a melting pot, which means it is a
multicultural society, and there are so many immigrants from other countries in America. Due to
international migration, both arranged marriages and love marriages have co existed in peace and
affected each other. Although some argue that arranged couples don t have a choice in choosing their
life partner, we can t deny the benefits of arranged marriages, as it can help them obtain full and
complete support from their families, better understand each other and provide a high possibility for a
successful and happy marriage.
First of all, an arranged marriage can help the bride and the groom gain the acceptance and support

Young Offenders In Australia
your response.
The Australian criminal justice system approaches young offenders through unique strategies to
address the challenges of dealing with juvenile offending. Even though young offenders commit a
higher percentage of crime compared to adults, young offenders also have the highest likelihood to be
rehabilitated and change their lifestyle as they mature, resulting in a lower court appearance
percentage due to the different rights children have.
There are a few repetitive reasons for young people to be involved in crime. These include poor
parental supervision, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect and abuse, homelessness, negative peer
associations, difficulties in school and employment.

Battle Of Tanga Analysis
In November 1914, the British executed an amphibious attack on the Port of Tanga, Tanzania, with the
objective to secure all of German East Africa.7 Also known as the Battle of the Bees, British troops
ran blindly through unfamiliar African terrain, shooting at anything that could be an enemy. They
upset several hives of African bees, stinging every person in the area. Colonel Paul Emil von Lettow
Vorbeck, Commander of the German Schutztruppe, secured victory by adhering to the Principles of
Mission Command, specifically: building a cohesive team between the East Africans and Germans
through mutual trust, accepting prudent risks, and providing a clear commander s intent.9 The
November 1914 Battle of Tanga, ultimately defined von Lettow Vorbeck s legacy as one of the
greatest Commanders of World War I. This paper analyzes the World War I Battle of Tanga, and von
Lettow Vorbeck s mission command principles that led to British defeat in one of the most successful
German guerrilla fights in history. 10

White matter impairment is a feature of vascular depression. The anti psychotic quetiapine has been
shown to enhance the therapeutic effects of anti depressants on vascular depression, but the
mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we found that 2 weeks of treatment with quetiapine prior
to bilateral carotid artery occlusion and reperfusion, in an animal model of vascular depression,
resulted in reduced myelin breakdown and oligodendrocyte loss compared to placebo treated mice on

augment the anti depressant effects by altering white matter impairments.
Our previous studies have shown that quetiapine alleviated depression like behaviors and neuronal
damage in mice with bilateral common carotid arteries occlusion (BCCAO) (Yan et al.2007a,b), an
animal model of global cerebral ischemia (GCI) and vascular depression (Gaur and Kumar 2010). In
this study, we tested the hypothesis that pre treatment with quetiapine protects the brain from OLG

Materials and methods
Male CD1 mice (18 20 g, Charles River, St. Constant, QC, Canada) received either quetiapine (10
mg/kg in saline, AstraZeneca, Canada, Montreal, QC, Canada) or vehicle (saline) treatment (i.p.) for
14 days. On day 15, the mice were assigned to a sham or a BCCAO surgery to induce GCI as
previously described (Yan et al.2007b), which generated four treatment groups: Sham (sham + saline),
QTP (sham + quetiapine), GCI (GCI + saline), and G + Q (GCI + quetiapine). Briefly, mice were
anesthetized with ketamine (110 mg/kg) and xylazine (15 mg/kg). Both common carotid arteries were
exposed and occluded with cotton thread for 60 min, after which the thread was removed to allow
reperfusion. The sham group underwent the same procedure without arterial occlusion. Animals

How Did Robert Peel Contribute To Society
Life and Contributions of Sir Robert Peel to Criminal Justice Today Sarah Hamrick Introduction to
Criminal Justice Instructor: Chris Beddingfield Robert Peel was born on February 5, 1788 in Bury,
Lacashire ( BBC History Sir Robert Peel, 2014). He was born to a wealthy cotton mill owner. Peel
was trained as a child to become a politician(Simkin, 1997). Every Sunday afternoon, his father would
require him to recite both sermons he has heard that day (Simkin, 1997). Peel was educated at Harrow
School, and Christ Church, Oxford where he won a double first in classics and mathematics (Simkin,
1997). In 1809, to reward him for his success academically, Peel s father bought him the
Parliamentary seat of Cashel in County Tipperary (Simkin, 1997). Also in 1809, at the age of twenty

Correlation Between Media Multitasking And The Differences...
Abstract
This article investigates the correlation between media multitasking and the differences of working
memory and long term memory in heavy media multitaskers and low media multitaskers. The data
was collected from one hundred forty three participants ranging in ages from 18 35. The study was
conducted from the Stanford University community. The researchers of this study explore the
possibilities of multitasking in relation to working and long term memory. The results showed that
there were four significant findings. A limitation of this study was that the correlation of student
academic outcome and media multitasking was used only by a correlation design study. Although, this
design suggests that a relationship exist between two variables, the study cannot prove that one
variable had a negative or positive effect change in another variable. Keywords: media multitasking

Central Valley Air Pollution Essay
Over the past few years, air pollution has been one of the major problems encountered in the
California central valley. The Central Valley, also called as the Great Valley of California, is comprised
of approximately about 20, 000 square miles. It is consisted of two parts, the northern portion is called
the Sacramento Valley and the southern portion is called the San Joaquin Valley (U.S.). There are
several factors that could have contributed to the amount of air pollution in the air, some of which
humans have the ability to prevent and mitigate. Many of the activities that we do in our daily lives
could result to the development of air pollution without us even knowing it. In this paper, we will
discuss what air pollution is and gain a better understanding of what air pollution is, determine its
causes, economic, social, and health impacts, and create solutions that would address the problem of
air pollution in the California central valley. In definition, air pollution is the appearance air pollutant
in the air which worsens the quality of air and imperil the health of living organisms, natural
resources, and structures and properties (Park, 2016). The sources of air pollution could come from
natural sources such as forest fires, and volcanic eruptions, moreover, it could also come from
substances that are emitted into the air that resulted from human activities. Human activities could
either be accidental or intentional. Some of the accidental human activities

The Heights And The Grange Essay
Wuthering Heights
Two characters and their significance to the Heights and the Grange
Wuthering Heights, the gothic novel by Emily Bronte, introduces us to two neighbouring families
living on the moors of Yorkshire. The remote setting sets a cold, windy, dark vision which infiltrates
the perspective households of the Earnshaws of Wuthering Heights and the Linton s of Thrushcross
Grange. The setting of Bronte s novel is the wild, untamed moors of her birthplace. Emily Bronte
brings her own personality and essence to Wuthering Heights, which is contrary to those of her sisters
, Anne and Charlotte. Emily Bronte s love for the outdoors and in particular the Yorkshire moors, as
well as her unusual and extremely unsocial and reserved character is identifiable in Heathcliff, the
main character (Wuthering heights.co.uk 2014). Also weaving its way through the novel is her
unconventional religious beliefs. The incorporation of the supernatural and gothic references defies
her family upbringing.
It can be said that the villain or protagonist in this novel is the main character Heathcliff, who does not
always endear himself to the reader with his morose and intense personality and that the influence he
has over Catherine Earnshaw and his subsequent actions of revenge, make him the ultimate demon.
However, the character of Heathcliff is often seen by readers as a dark, brooding hero, the antagonist,
in that readers sympathise with the fact that he has reason to act the way he does,

Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
William Shakespeare used the word and the concept of death many times throughout his writing. The
poem, The Time of Year, is one of the many sonnets that Shakespeare wrote. It is also known as
Sonnet 73 . In Western literary traditions, sonnets have played an important role because of the works
of authors such as Francesco Petrarca (Petrarch) and William Shakespeare, (Weagly, 2016). The Time
of Year (Sonnet 73) by William Shakespeare, conveys the theme that the idea of losing someone could
create a stronger feeling of love while they are living here on Earth. All sonnets are written in a
specific pattern. They consist of three quatrains and a couplet. Every line has ten syllables and follows
an a, b scale pattern. In Sonnet 73 , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sonnet is slightly tragic in aspect, because it is on wishful thinking. In the autumn of his life and
getting close to death, his loved one sees that he does not have much time left but still loves him the
same. That is the meaning of true love. There is a melancholic tone of his life deteriorating in front of
him and while he has lived some days of pure joy in his youth. He remains focused on his death by
describing it with a more pessimistic point of view. Then, towards the end, he employs a tone of regret
which explains why he lives his dying days with pure negativity. He finishes with an instruction
directed towards his audience to live and appreciates life s light, and joy and love better than he did.
Even though it is not intentional, the poem is an inspiration to live well and flourish and to be
appreciative of what you have before it is too late. Shakespeare apparently wrote this sonnet at a time
of uneasiness. It is captivating to a loved one to see the lengthiness of his youth, by embodying
himself as a season, a day or a burning fire, and allegories the respect endings of all those three. It is a
difficult feeling to describe, when something that you used to have such love for is no longer
interesting to you, but Shakespeare metaphors describe it perfectly. His writing style, in keeping
Shakespearian form, is of flowing sentences and elaborate descriptions, offering metaphors within
metaphors. Throughout these descriptions his

director and senior management about outreach activities I was delivering to stakeholders. The
purpose of writing briefing notes was to summarize the objectives of every outreach sessions and to
inform them about specific follow ups to stakeholders requests. The first step was to compile the
results of the research I have initiated on the stakeholders and their business area, by adding short
paragraphs to keep a concise writing style. After finishing the writing part, I reviewed the document to
ensure that all aspects are covered and that every key point previously discussed were detailed.
Finally, I made sure to avoid grammatically or vocabulary errors in the finalized document and also to

Functioning. Psi Chi, The International Honor Society In Psychology, 19 (3), 88 97.
This study speaks about whether or not an alerting odor, such as peppermint, can affect attention and
working memory. Research has been completed previously on the influences of odorants on cognitive
functioning, physiology, behavior, and mood. From earlier research, it was resulted that a person s
atmosphere was affected in either a positive or negative way; depending on the type of smell they
inhaled. If a participant smelled an unpleasant smell, it was determined that the person would have a
negative change in their mood; when the participant would inhale a positive smell, their mood would
change positively.
The study consisted of fifty, female, undergraduate college students. The ethnicities that were use for
this study were African American, European, Asian, Hispanic, biracial, and a very slight percentage
was categorized as other. The experiment would begin at 5:00pm everyday, for four weeks. One of the
three groups was administered each day. The three groups were either peppermint, expectation, or

Varsity Vs. Club Sports
The ball is rolling down the field with players from each team chasing after it, who will get there first?
The home team wins the race and passes the ball to their teammate. They settle the ball, gather their
footing, and kick the ball at the goal. The goalie dives and misses the ball as it hits the back of the net.
The team rushes toward each other celebrating the goal with a team hug. Club sports are just as
entertaining as varsity sports yet most people don t see it this way. This is only one of the multiple
differences between varsity and club soccer. Most varsity athletes take for granted their trainer access
and preferential treatment. Yet participants in club sports are not even allowed to talk to a trainer or
use the school vans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are multiple vans sitting out in the South Parking Lot, that hardly ever get used. There is no
reason why the Athletic Department can t let us use those buses to drive ourselves to games. They don
t need to pay a driver, we can drive ourselves to save money. This is an easy fix and would make
traveling for club teams much easier. It would also eliminate the chances of getting separated and lost.
The Athletic Department may object to this solution because, it is a liability to the school and will cost
the school gas money. However, club soccer fundraises for uniforms, therefore we could also
fundraise a little extra money to fill up the gas tanks for the buses. They could also make club athletes
fill out liability forms, like going on a field trip in high school, that says the school is not liable for
anything that happens. Field space is limited and this makes it difficult for both varsity and club to
find space and time to practice. Take soccer for example. There are three grass soccer fields available
to play on. However, one is called Melucci Stadium and is used strictly for games and is off limits for
practices. Now we are down to two fields, neither of which have lights. This makes a difference
because both varsity soccer teams have a field from four to six. Now where does that leave club
soccer? Well, they let us have the fields from six to eight, yet around

Social Controversies In America
Most people in America would agree that America really needs help. There are so many controversies,
do we make America great again or do we go with the first female president? The Story of Utopia by

America was facing these issues. Thomas More is not only the writer of the story, but is also a
character in the story. In the story he goes to Flanders and starts talking to this man named Raphael.

The Psychological Side Of The Injury
Personal
It is widely an accepted belief that sports are ninety percent mental and ten percent physical so when
an injury occurs it is just as equal in importance to be aware of the psychological side of the injury as
well as the physical injury. Athletes around the world know not only the physical pain, but the
emotional toll injury places on a person who is sought after to perform their best day in and day out.
Small injuries that lower one s top performance ability, big injuries that force cease of play for any
amount of time, as well as chronic injuries that consistently keep coming back and influence
performance ability for a long time all effect people mentally negatively; some rise above and some do
not. Staying mentally strong during a time of injury is difficult and just as in any difficult situation
people respond differently. Knowing the ways that are typical in response to an injury and being able
to apply positive traits can provide for a much healthier, better, and in some cases faster recovery.
I have always been prone to injury and had to deal with them consistently while growing up playing
sports. My dad has likewise always been my coach and it has been instilled in me since I was young

The Jim Crow South As Depicted By Richard Wright And...
In the Jim Crow South as depicted by Richard Wright and Eudora Welty, race is a matter of visibility.
For black southerners, forever under the looming threat of white surveillance, to be seen is to be to be
in danger. While Welty and Wright existed on opposite sides of the white gaze, the authors make
contact as they explore and critique the barrier it created between white and black southerners, and the
violence that resulted from this divide. In Welty s A Curtain of Green and Wright s Down by the
Riverside, the surveyors become the surveyed, and a new perspective is born that resists the
dominance of the white point of view. Welty introduces the problem of white blindness in A Curtain of
Green by placing the white women of Larkin s Hill in the windows of their houses, fanning and
sighing, waiting for the rain (107). These southern ladies, who occasionally, looked down from their
bedroom windows as they studiously brushed their hair, epitomize the ideals of white southern
womanhood that the Jim Crow laws were supposedly erected to preserve (108). Gazing down from
their upstairs windows into Mrs. Larkin s slanting, tangled garden, these women assume a position of
privilege of surveillance (107, 108). Yet what is significant to the relationship between Mrs. Larkin
and her neighbors is not what might be observed from their elevated vistas, such as her unkempt hair
and soil stained overalls, but rather what her neighbors could not see : the threat of racial

Material Flows And Inventory Policy During Military Scm
Material Flows and Inventory Policy in Military SCM
According to Major Joshua M. Lenzini in his article Anticipatory Logistics: The Army s Answer to
Supply Chain Management, Supply chain management is similar for both corporate and military
organizations. However, some significant differences are evident in these models. The first is the
absence of maintenance on the corporate model. Another is that transportation, distribution, and
warehousing are unidirectional in the corporate model but dual directional in the military model (see
Figure 3, Lenzini, 2002)). This backward flow is called reverse logistics, and although it is not unique
to military supply networks it is uniquely critical.
Figure 3: Schematic of differences for Corporate (left) and Military (right) SCM (Lenzini, 2002).
Reverse logistics constitutes the value recovery process for reparable spares. It is important because
theoretically is has considerable impact on the supply chain as it is the feedback loop. The reverse
stage starts from the military units, to the maintenance depots, and then back to the forward supply
chain to the units. The responsiveness of the reverse pipeline then becomes crucial to support
sustained operations when higher than expected failure rates in equipment occur, resulting in
temporary spikes or sustained surges in demand. Recent data analysis indicates that the ratio of issues
to returns across deployed units is highly variable, ranging between 40 percent and almost 100

Most spray painting is done by utilising spray paint, yet a few vandals utilize markers, stickers, or

Reflective Essay On Journalism
I chose journalism as my elective for this year because I wanted to continue the journalism career that
I began in middle school since it allowed me to write about topics that grasped my interest and passion
aside from writing required essays in a classroom setting. In addition, I believed that this course would
allow me to improve my writing skills by learning the grammatical, ethical, and organizational
concepts relating to journalism such as the code of ethics, the inverted pyramid, and the editorial
hierarchy. I also hoped for the course to help me with responsibility and time management since I
knew I would have to write articles and have other loads of works from other classes. Not to mention,
journalism has allowed me to be motivated to write a good article not for the grade, but for the sole
purpose to make the article right. In middle school journalism was an extracurricular activity and this
year I was graded on my personal interests, my time management, and my writing quality rather than
on the actual learning of a subject. This course has challenged me to write outstanding pieces of work
based on my time management and motivation as well as without many guidelines and structure
given. It had also made me a lot more confident since it requires interaction outside of class to acquire
sources for articles. Thus, through reporting I able to establish a rapport with people and build a

Reflective Essay On Self Esteem
Self acceptance is an extremely prevalent issue that numerous people struggle with. It is one of the
hardest to surmount, for it is something I still struggle with to this day. Overall, my journey is a
working progress as it will perpetuate to have its downfalls to test me. Like many of my generation,
social media has played an excessively paramount role in our lives, both negatively and positively.
Sources of harmless entertainment have also unintentionally encouraged self judgment. Be that as it
may, my perspective has been widely opened unexpectedly through a speaker s presentation as she
showed us how to recognize our self worth. Confidence and self esteem are hard to acquire for some,
but it should not be a quantity you divest yourself of. Self acceptance of all insecurities and doubts is
paramount since every individual has a unique beauty that should be cherished in order to pursue a life
full of love and jubilance.
During my sophomore year in high school, we had a Career Day with several guest speakers. They
had split us up by gender, the girls stayed on the right side of the school while the boys stayed on the
left. We could not enter the opposite sides considering we had presentations concretely for each group.
As the boys had speakers to discuss the development of a gentleman, we had speakers addressing
topics relating to makeup and on how to be a lady. Towards the end of the day, my friends and I
decided to choose our last presentation randomly. As we entered the room, there was this resplendent
woman with a surprisingly cordial atmosphere. She addressed us as if we were her own children; you
could sense the love she had for positivity before she even commenced to speak. She gave us a
background story of her childhood during our age, for she too had struggled with accepting herself
with all her insecurities. She described her several encounters with bullying and how it had impacted
her self esteem even though she appeared so vigorous and confident. I admired that about her the
most, not once did she ever show the slightest bit of weakness, yet she too had relatable problems.
Then she mandated us to indite down the worst thing someone had ever verbally expressed about us,

Art Is The Visual Manifestation And Application Of Human...
Art is the visual manifestation and application of human creativity, typically executed through
painting or sculpture. Art is multifunctional, in that it has the ability to transcend the visual by evoking
an emotional response in a non verbal way. In art, artists are able to utilize their medium to connect
their personal message to the audience in a non traditional manner. Disarming the audience by
presenting a new perspective on critical issues through the implementation of art and can help combat
problems concerning identity politics and stereotypes. Artists have the aptitude to inspire change in
their world by shattering conventional thinking on canvas. The biography and artworks of artist Jean
LaMarr demonstrates this very notion. By analyzing artworks such as LaMarr s Dolly Digle s Friend,
one can see how the message of her artwork goes beyond the expectations of the canvas, surpass the
visual experience and challenge the audience to confront stereotypes as she reclaims her Native
American identity. Jean LaMarr was born on the Susanville Indian Rancheria in California. The Pit

in creating video productions as well as installations. The now nationwide known community arts

going down with a fight. It would not seem like him.
Additionally, the theme of this meaningful novel is culture conflict. It proves to see if danger that you
know is going to overpower your culture and effect your life, do you join it or fight for what you
believe in. That is exactly what Okonkwo did. No matter what the issue was he always knew that he
had done something wrong and and did his time, but in the end of the day he still stood up for what he
believed in. Just like today cultures should still treat each other with respect and respect different
beliefs. At the end of the novel, Okonkwo had hung himself because he knew the missionaries would

Were you ever once in middle school, and just wanted to do dumb things with your childhood friends?

of groups, surrounded and separated by small rivers and mountains, thus, governments that repressed
economic and scientific development soon amended their errors or were out done rapidly (Pomeranz,
2000).
The early western world benefitted from revenues from trading European products to the Eastern
countries (Pomeranz, 2000). High earnings obtained from trading with eastern countries and sales of
slave established seven percent profit per annum, which is a relatively high rate of return considering
the high rate of depreciation on pre industrial capital stocks, which limited the amount of savings and
capital accumulation , stated Pomeranz (2000). Many theories suggest that the Great Divergence
occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later on became the main factor
of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant advantage for Europe was the
vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America which could be used to grow large
quantities of farm products required to sustain European economic growth and allowed labour and
land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. A great example of this is how England saved
approximately 23 25 million acres of agricultural space by importing goods such

How Does Different Levels of Pollution in Streams or Ponds...
How does Different Levels of Pollution in Streams or Ponds Affect Macro invertebrate Species?
Organisms without back bones are Macro Invertebrate species (Seminole.Wateratlas.Usf.Edu ,2012) .
These organisms are small but can be seen without a magnifying glass (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002) .
Size ranges from 3 20mm long (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002) .Insects, crustaceans, mollusks, worms,
leeches, and anemones are classified a Macro invertebrate species (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002).
Streams that are free from pollution will contain a variety of these animals. Streams that have higher
pollution levels will less of these animals. Macro invertebrates that live in the stream can determine
information about the stream. These organisms can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Piping the stream is when the streams are piped underground to permit city expansion
(Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002). Piping the streams can cause the invertebrates to starve. The animals will
starve because algae need light to survive (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002). In the pipes, algae are not
receiving any light causing the plant to die .Invertebrates can t eat leaves because there are no trees in
the pipes. Straightening the streams is when the streams are smoothed out or straightened with
concrete (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002). This can cause the stream to lack objects such as rocks. The
invertebrates attach to these objects to prevent being washed down the stream(Waitakere.Govt.Nz ,
2002). If the stream lacks objects invertebrates will be washed down the stream. The objects in the
stream also used for protection from predators (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002). Fewer objects in the
stream will result in less hiding places for invertebrates (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002). Therefore,
predators will easily find them. Flow reduction is when some water from the stream is taken and sent
elsewhere (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002). This can happen in many ways. One way this can occur is
when water is taken out of the stream for urban supplies and agriculture (Waitakere.Govt.Nz , 2002).
This can result in making the stream smaller or destroying the steam entirely (Waitakere.Govt.Nz ,
2002). If the stream gets reduced in sized or destroyed most

Volcanoes And Climate Change Today
January 18, 2017, New England s 1816 Mackerel Year, Volcanoes and Climate Change Today
https://www.usgs.gov/news/new england s 1816 mackerel year volcanoes and climate change today A
study was regulated by the USGS in regards to the large catches of mackerel by fishermen, a volcano
eruption at Indonesia s Mt. Tambora and climate change. The article explains that the eruption that
occurred at Mt. Tambora over 200 years ago and the effects that it left at the Gulf of Maine that
intertwined human natural systems facing climate change. The study showed that the eruption in 1815
caused a long lasting extreme climate event in 1816 (which is also known as the year without a
summer) that caused the Northern Hemisphere s crops to fail. ... Show more content on

The article also suggest that the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere are different in
regards to climate changes. Lewis believes that the southern hemisphere is more likely to have an
intermediate average summer with temperatures of 83 degrees and an average winter temperature of
78 degrees. This indicates that the climate here is similar year round and the only fact that keeps
Sydney from ranking higher on the list is the fact that it is too wet of a place.
3. March 3, 2017, Monitoring Alaska s Remote and Restless Bogoslof Volcano
https://www.usgs.gov/news/monitoring alaska s remote and restless bogoslof volcano A study
conducted by the USGS was conducted in regards to the Bogoslof Volcano which is an active volcano
that is located in the Aleutian Islands which is located just northwest of the Dutch Harbor. This
volcano has had active eruptions in sequence since December of 2016. There has been numerous
explosions from the volcano, which has shot ashes to altitudes soaring over 30,000 feet in the air. The
area is a major fly zone for aircrafts and the ashes from the eruptions has caused jet engines to fail.
The unknown is how long will these eruptions from the Bogoslof Volcano continue to erupt. Past
events have occurred from the Bogoslof; the prior eruptions lasted from July 6, 1992 through July 24,
1992, therefore, this current eruptions had already surpassed the prior eruptions that occurred in 1992.

Social Classes In Mycenaean Civilization
Society: The difference of classes in societal structure can be derived from the goods that were buried
in their graves. It is clear that there was a strong, ruling class and a lower group containing mostly the
common people. The political hierarchy consisted of the The Wanax (or King), at the top, who was the
political and religious leader. Below him were the local chiefs and controllers who looked after
administrative duties. The safety of the state was the responsibility of the Lawagetas, the head of the
army. Because of this efficient hierarchy, the Mycenaean Age was economically and culturally
affluent, while weapons, arms and armaments found in graves and sites confirm their society as
military inclined. Economy: The Mycenaeans used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a few texts, paintings and pictures suggest the name of the Gods. A popular deity was Poseidon,
(at the time probably associated with earthquakes and land transformations). Other important Gods
included the Lady of the Labyrinth and Diwia (Sea Goddess). Other members of the pantheon of
which evidence has been found include Zeus Hera, Ares, Hermes, Athena, Artemis, Erinya as well as
Dionysus. There are very few temples or shrines that have been found where religious practices might
have been exercised: So we can assume all rituals took place on open ground or in peak sanctuaries
and caves. Some shrines that are found have a tripartite structural design. Minoans had a strong
influence on most of the religious practices and rituals practised by the Mycenaeans. Art: Pottery work
such as stirrup jars, pitchers, kraters and chalices were made during this era. The vessels that were
exported were more intricately (instructed and detailed) designes and had beautiful motifs (design),
often depicting warriors and animals. Vessels in the shape of tripods, basins, or lamps were found in
large quantities at the archaeological

  • 2. The Latin Word La Raza The Latin word La Raza, spoken by many Latin Americans united by culture and spiritual beliefs, is translated into the race. This idea of La Raza brings the cultures separated around the world together based on the similar ideas of a great destiny and culture values. There are many concepts that are different from the Anglos, which translates to white, English speaking American, but there are many attributes that are similarly seen within each culture. Among many Anglos, there is a racist assumption that those who are Mexican are lazy when there are cultural reasons for the way Latin Americans choose to live. Those among the Mexican culture has a strong belief in a splendid destiny planned by God that hasn t occurred based on the culture or groups of Mexican people s sins; such as, the thieves and drunks (William, 1964, p. 15). This belief in God already having a plan for each individual among the earth has created a calm atmosphere toward planning for the future. The aging population has become one of the most worrying issues in THE UNITED STATES. Their progress, observed in unison, and above all the speed that has been acquiring since the seventies, has caused some fear not only in the political field but also at the academic level. With a background dominated by medicine, economics, psychology, demography, sociology and other sciences (social and health) have usually addressed aging as a problem and characterize old, elderly, elderly, grandparents, retirees or senior citizens regarding passivity, burden or dependency. However, it is necessary to warn about the arbitrariness of this decision: why are not estimated 60 years, or 70, as the lower limit when classifying this population group?. The relieved exercise of combining from the age of 65 to the elderly with the retirees cannot be taken as a solid criterion since it has become a common practice in our societies to invite many workers to leave the labor market at a later age early; not forgetting that there are plenty of people who never retire because, either materially or formally, they have never been inserted in such a market. In any case, does anyone who has 65 years of age respond to the same sociological profile (characteristics such as his health, educational level, economic position, family network, even his appearance) than the one who had the same age a couple of decades ago ?. Gregor Mendel experimented with plant breeding in order to determine that the inheritance of different traits is dependent upon the differences in alleles, or genes. Two loci that can measure the genetic variation in human populations are the LCT locus and the TAS2R38 locus (Leicht McAllister, 2017). The LCT locus is located on chromosome 2, and encodes for the enzyme lactase that breaks down lactose into its monomers to aid digestion of dairy in the small intestine (Leicht McAllister, 2017). Demonstrated by the Hardy Weinberg Principle, that without any evolutionary forces, the allele and genotype frequencies of sexual populations will remain constant between generations (Sadava, 2011). The Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium is met be a population under five specific conditions: no genetic mutation, random mating between individuals (no sexual selection), infinite population size (no genetic drift, or any chance of variation with allele frequencies), no gene flow (migration of new individuals into or out of the population), and no natural selection (all genotypes contain the same relative fitness for survival and reproduction). If any of these conditions are not met, the population is not in Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium and evolution is occurring. The expected frequencies within a population are determined by two equations: p + q = 1 for allele frequencies, and p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 for genotype frequencies (Sadava, 2011). Arranged Marriages And Love Marriages Wufeng Yuan Patricia France English 1A 5 May 2015 Arranged Marriage: In the broadest sense, marriages have been divided into two general categories; arranged marriages and love marriages. As the name implies, an arranged marriage is defined as a marriage where the bride and groom are exclusively selected by a third party (usually their parents), while in a love marriage, people choose their marital partners based on their feelings or attraction for one another. In America and Western Europe, marriages based on love, have dominated their cultures for a long time and, as a result, when it comes to arranged marriages, most American s first reaction would be: Oh! This kind of marriage is so relentless and incredible, because we have no voice. However, times are changing, and so is the attitude toward marriage. America is a melting pot, which means it is a multicultural society, and there are so many immigrants from other countries in America. Due to international migration, both arranged marriages and love marriages have co existed in peace and affected each other. Although some argue that arranged couples don t have a choice in choosing their life partner, we can t deny the benefits of arranged marriages, as it can help them obtain full and complete support from their families, better understand each other and provide a high possibility for a successful and happy marriage. For black southerners, forever under the looming threat of white surveillance, to be seen is to be to be in danger. While Welty and Wright existed on opposite sides of the white gaze, the authors make contact as they explore and critique the barrier it created between white and black southerners, and the violence that resulted from this divide. In Welty s A Curtain of Green and Wright s Down by the Riverside, the surveyors become the surveyed, and a new perspective is born that resists the dominance of the white point of view. Welty introduces the problem of white blindness in A Curtain of Green by placing the white women of Larkin s Hill in the windows of their houses, fanning and sighing, waiting for the rain (107). These southern ladies, who occasionally, looked down from their bedroom windows as they studiously brushed their hair, epitomize the ideals of white southern womanhood that the Jim Crow laws were supposedly erected to preserve (108). Gazing down from their upstairs windows into Mrs. Larkin s slanting, tangled garden, these women assume a position of privilege of surveillance (107, 108). Yet what is significant to the relationship between Mrs. Larkin and her neighbors is not what might be observed from their elevated vistas, such as her unkempt hair and soil stained overalls, but rather what her neighbors could not see : the threat of racial ... Lenzini in his article Anticipatory Logistics: The Army s Answer to Supply Chain Management, Supply chain management is similar for both corporate and military organizations. However, some significant differences are evident in these models. The first is the absence of maintenance on the corporate model. Another is that transportation, distribution, and warehousing are unidirectional in the corporate model but dual directional in the military model (see Figure 3, Lenzini, 2002)). This backward flow is called reverse logistics, and although it is not unique to military supply networks it is uniquely critical.
