True Life Schizophrenia Case Study
Schizophrenia
The True Life episode, I have Schizophrenia, documented the struggles of three adults who suffer
from Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorder. This paper will focus around Josh and whether he
actually has Schizophrenia.
Josh is a 24 year old man who is from West Chester, Pennsylvania. While he lives in PA for all of the
show, his housing situation is not ideal. At the beginning of the episode he lives in a hotel room,
however halfway through he is evicted. He moves back and forth between a friend s house and his
mom s house, until he finally settles in an apartment building for people who struggle with mental
illness. He has a part time job in construction, and has little to no formal education. He seems to enjoy
doing laborer work . Josh has also been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
It is unclear when Josh s symptoms of schizophrenia started to develop. It is implied that he was
diagnosed a while ago, based on the fact that he has been in and ... Show more content on

The first proof of this comes from Josh. He believes that he has a comprehension of animal languages.
To him, when he hears a dog bark or a bird chirp, he can hear them speak human languages. This
delusion of his is fueled by his hallucinations. His delusions are further proven by his mother, who
states that he is unable to see the difference between what is real and what is in his mind. He also has
confessed to being paranoid, which is a form of delusions.
These two symptoms are enough to allow him to meet criteria A, however he also fulfills another
symptom: Disorganized speech. This is not a symptom either Josh or his mother talks about; however
there is a clear case of this during the course of the show. It is again when he is in the car. After
wondering if anyone else heard a voice, he starts on a disorganized rant about ribbons and the sun, and
later trails off, seemingly unable to answer the questions asked by his

Mitochondrial Pathway Of Mitochondrial And Mitochondrial...
1.2.2. Mitochondrial pathway
The mitochondrial pathway, also called intrinsic pathway, because it is initiated from inside the cell.
Various stimuli such as growth factors withdrawal, DNA damage, hypoxia, and oxidative stress can
induce apoptosis through this cascade. These insults cause increasing permeability of the outer
mitochondrial membrane and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) pore which
is controlled by members of the Bcl 2 family proteins. This large family of proteins is defined by the
presence of conserved Bcl 2 homology domains (BH1 to BH4). Up to 30 Bcl 2 family genes have
been identified in mammals, which have either pro apoptotic or anti apoptotic functions. Some of the
anti apoptotic members include Bcl 2 itself, Bcl XL, Bcl w, BAG and Mcl 1 which possess all
domains of BH1 to BH4. The pro apoptotic family proteins can be divided into two subgroups:
consists of Bak, Bax, and Bok with possess BH1 to BH3 domains, and Bad, Bid, Bik, BNIP3, Bim,
Bmf, Blk, Hrk, Noxa, Puma, and Spike) that only possesses BH3 domain [Cory, 2002; Mund, 2003].
It is believe that BH3 only proteins interfere with the fine tuned balance of homo or hetero
oligomerization between pro apoptotic multidomains (eg., Bax/Bak) and anti apoptotic members (eg.,
Bcl 2/Bcl XL) (Figure 3). In general, oligomers of Bak, Bax, and Bok induce PMT, either by forming
channels by themselves or by interacting with components of the PMT [Antonsson, 2000]. Bad can
also heterodimerize

The Problem Of Unnecessary Blindness
There are specifically some important macro scale problems that should be addressed initially in order
to help Aravind move towards fulfilling the organizational goals. Specifically these issues are looking
at how the organization s operations will be expanded in the future including how the organization
needs to plan to grow so it can reach a broader number of the blind population, and also if the
organization is truly eradicating needless blindness in India as well as providing the highest quality
service it can to both its paying and non paying customers. It is clear that in order to solve the problem
of needless blindness in India the organization must make some move in order to reach a wider
population. There are several options that Aravind has when moving into the future for how expansion
will be facilitated. The first would be for it to continue with operations as currently set up, but
publicize its business model and encourage other organizations to copy it and work alongside Aravind
to eradicate needless blindness. While this is a viable and seemingly the easiest option, this should not
be the only approach that Aravind considers. Aravind has some existing problems in its operations,
management and marketing, and while it has achieved success in the past, there are some significant
existing components that will contribute to greater weakness within Aravind s business model in the
future. It is also uncertain if any other organizations will actually choose to

Introduction
The aim of this paper is to explore different aspects of the MapReduce framework. The primary focus
will be given on how MapReduce framework follows the principles and techniques of distributed and
parallel programming in the context of concurrent, parallel and distributed computing. In the
following sections of the report, there will be a brief introduction of the MapReduce platform and how
it is related to distributed and parallel computing. Following that, the discussion will be on the phases
and job life cycle of MapReduce based programming, the functionalities of the different components
of a MapReduce job, implementation of MapReduce and the challenges in the implementations.
Hence, the paper covers different aspects of the methodology, implementations, issues and examples
of implementation of the MapReduce framework.
Overview of MapReduce
Distributed and parallel computing is gaining rapid popularity as information and computing
technologies are also advancing very fast. Cloud computing, grid computing, big data and analytics
are a few examples of modern parallel and distributed computing.

A Student Board Representative For My School District
Fifteen years ago, I served as the student board representative for my school district. All I can really
remember is being entertained by emotional parent complaints and listening to jargon filled
presentations. Upon receiving my first pink slip from that same district seven years later, I spoke at a
school board meeting for the first time. Three years later, I was motivated by another pink slip to
speak in front of a school board this time as a teacher for my current school district, San Diego County
Office of Education (SDCOE) Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). Since that first pink
slip scare with JCCS, I have been a regular attendee at SDCOE board meetings. I try my best to pay
attention and even take notes when JCCS is on the agenda. I have spoken on behalf of my students
and coworkers and even helped to introduce my site s student board representative. However, I
honestly spend most of the meetings bored by detailed presentations about programs far removed from
my classroom or confused by topics that I do not completely understand. However, I keep attending.
During the past few weeks, I attended the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) June 2 meeting
and the SDCOE June 10 meeting. After observing a board meeting in a traditional school district for
the first time in ten years, I was reminded of the strong parent and community voice that is often
shared during board meetings in local districts. On the other hand county board meetings are

Analyzing Scientific Argumentation On The Conflict
Resolving The Conflict 1. Need To Elucidate Scientific Argumentation When a subject matter is
described as beyond logic, it is not meant illogical or that it completely lacks the usage of
argumentation of any kind. If that would have been the norm, Shri Vallabhacharya would not have
argumentatively defended the atomism of Jiva against the heterodox discipline propounded by Jainism
in Chit Prakran of shastrarth prakran nibandha (ि.दी. वन. शभ.प्र.कभररकभ.53) and elsewhere.
Bhagwad Gita states man who is of a doubting nature perishes (संशयात्मा विनश्यवि 4/40 ) . Here doubt
means lacking faith and not lacking curiosity or questions which on the contrary tend to enhance the
virtue of a learner. Similarly, when scriptures state something ... Show more content on

Between the firing electrons and the wall there was a frame deployed to obstruct the passage of
electrons with two slits that allowed them to pass. Electrons, being particles should hit directly behind
the slit, producing particle like behaviour. Something like this However, the electrons instead
produced wave pattern, which is only possible when a single electron passes through both the slits.
Some of the electrons even hit the area directly behind the barrier. Something like this This showed
that electrons have wave particle duality like the Light and it exists in a superposition which is a state
of potential innumerable possibilities of existence. However, what further astounded the physicists
was when a detector was placed to measure the passage of electrons to learn how it passes through
both slits; the electrons immediately collapsed their wave function and reverted to particle like
behaviour. Physicists then decided to act smart and switched on the detector once the electron had
passed through the slit. But it seemed somehow the electrons knew that it was being detected and it
immediately switched to particle like behaviour by adopting the passage from one of the either slit. In
a nutshell, every time the electron was measured, it dropped its superposition and wave function.
What stumps the physicists is the fact that what exactly counts as measurement that leads the electrons
to change their course. There are no concrete

Public College Boosting
. In the article Public College Boosting Aid to Wealthy as Poor Are Left Behind, by Marian Wand, the
author shares a story of little girl, Shauniqua Epps, she is 19 years old. Epps family lives in subsidized
housing in South Philadelphia. Epps father died when she was in the third grade, her mother lives on
social security which provides $698 a month. She has a good GPA and is also good in sports. She
applied for three colleges for higher education, but none of the colleges provided financial aid to her.
She did not go to any of the colleges because she could not afford the tuition. No one in family can
support her because Epps mother does not have enough knowledge to encourage her. This proves that

Deficiency in academic preparation occurs because of poor plans to attend college and an absence of
earlier experience of how the college environment works. The students from impoverished
backgrounds did not go to high level schools, so they do not have the college knowledge which is
needed to succeed in college and the future. In the article New Student Majority in South and West:
Poor Children by Sarah D. Sparks, the author shares that mostly in the south and southwest states
students live under poverty. Students academic careers are at a high risk because it is difficult to deal
with their problems. More than 50 % of the students live in poverty which is a pretty high rate, there
seems to be no place to get away from it. The biggest barrier for students in poverty is after graduating
from high school and deciding to move on to college. Most of the students from low socio economic
backgrounds always have a gap year after completing high school. They are not ready for college due
to the deficiency in language and quality of education.

Current State Of New Zealand And The United States Of...
Over the last thirty years the economic rise of China has contributed to a worldwide shift in power.
Discussing the current state of New Zealand s relationship with both China and the United States of
America (USA), this essay will outline likely future foreign policy choices. Authors such as Mosher
and Krauthammer see the rise of China as a threat to the West that must be contained, a view which is
not widely accepted. With reference to New Zealand s recent economic and strategic success this
essay will suggest that future foreign policy must work to deepen relations with both countries. New
Zealand must not choose between China nor the USA, instead a broad based approach to trade and
international relations should be maintained.
In 2008 New Zealand was the first of the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development
countries to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China. As a result China has overtaken the USA
as our second largest trading partner, with exports increasing from NZ$2.3 billion in 2008 to NZ$6.7
billion in 2012. In 2010 New Zealand set the goal of doubling two way trade with China by 2015, a
goal which was achieved a full year earlier. Speaking to the New Zealand Institute of International
Affairs (NZIIA) in 2010 John Key described New Zealand China relations as unquestionably and
unashamedly an economic relationship . Without pausing the New Zealand and Chinese governments
have been quick to capitalize on this recent economic success. The

Princess Diana Eulogy Analysis
On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana died in a fatal car crash while in Paris. Her funeral was held on
September 6, 1997, at Westminster Abbey in London, England. Thousands of people attended, while
many more watched from their homes. A few of her family members spoke great things about her;
however, the eulogy her brother wrote shocked the millions that were watching. According to the
Merriam Webster Dictionary a eulogy is a commendatory oration or writing especially in honor of one
deceased (Merriam Webster Dictionary). This eulogy written for Princess Diana had many factors that
set it apart from typical eulogies, but these aspects made it more effective.
A typical eulogy consists of praise, happy memories, stories, and positive personality features of the
one deceased. In opposition, this particular eulogy had a negative tone regarding the sadness in her
life, as well as blaming the royal family and the paparazzi for her untimely passing. This eulogy used
aspects that most speeches, essays, and other forms of writing use, including pathos, ethos, logos,
parallelism, imagery, and negative comments toward her unfortunate loss of life.
Earl used pathos to appeal to the audience s emotions. He used it to draw the audience in, and get their
attention by talking about family. An example of pathos from the eulogy is, These were days I will
always treasure. It was as if we had been transported back to our childhood when we spent such an
enormous amount of time together

Chronic Throat Clearing
Treat Chronic Throat Clearing Naturally
Let me clear my throat! When DJ Kool released this song in 1996, I m sure he wasn t talking about
sinus problems, but I identified with it anyway. I couldn t help it. All I ever did was clear my throat.
From the minute I got up in the morning to the time I went to bed, I sounded like a machine gun stuck
on auto fire.
The worst part was, I had no idea at the time that throat clearing was a social cue used to get attention.
That was the LAST thing I wanted. I was embarrassed enough as it was.
If you want to stop feeling like you have a slug swinging from your uvula 24 hours a day, try these
natural treatments. You (and the people around you) will get a much needed respite.

Home Remedies for Chronic Throat Clearing
Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is a good source of immune boosting vitamin C. It also has strong antibacterial and
antiviral properties. To remove excess mucus from your throat, blend two teaspoons of lemon juice
and one tablespoon of honey into a glass of hot water. Drink this mixture at least three times each day
to thin mucus and reduce throat clearing.
Stinging Nettle
Stinging nettle is an herb that treats allergies and inflammation by reducing the amount of histamine in
your body. One study showed that 48 percent of allergy sufferers claimed stinging nettles were more
effective than their usual antihistamine!
Stinging nettle has also been used to stimulate digestion, ease eczema, and treat the symptoms of
rheumatism. This herb can be taken in capsule, tincture, or tea

Volunteer Service In American Society
In American society, helping those that are less fortunate has always served as one of our core values.
Benjamin Franklin is credited as the first volunteer when he founded a volunteer firefighting company
in 1736. During the Civil War, Ladies Aid Societies came together providing linen for bandages,
wrappings, and many other cloth items. Often times, the volunteer willingly makes concessions in
their own schedule to help others or provide services for charitable organizations. What motivates the
volunteer to sacrifice their own time in the service of others? In this paper, I will address a variety of
factors that drive the individual to give back to their community. Volunteering not only provides great
benefits to the community but also

Darkness Of Darkness Analysis
As Marlow s shares his story with those listening, or not listening, on the Nellie, he continually points
out the wastefulness the Europeans exhibited in the Belgium controlled Congo region. The first place
he lands in Africa is the Company Station. He witnesses the wastefulness immediately. He saw a
railway truck lying there on its back and personified it as dead as the carcass of some animal (Conrad
19). Nearby were some workers assigned to building a railway who was blowing up a cliff with
objectless blasting (Conrad 19). The adjectives he uses to describe the Europeans actions connote that
this was a waste of energy, brain power, and company resources. As a sailor, Marlow was probably
used to efficiency and maximum production. Being that sailors are out on the sea for long periods of
time, they cannot afford to waste resources because it can endanger the whole crew. This stuns
Marlow. While trying to imperialize the Congo, the government squandered millions on these infernal
and desolate shores , of the millions flung away which brought nothing but wars and disasters of all
kinds (Raskin 122). This was a sentiment shared by a fellow sailor named Rimbaud who also realized
the waste of colonializing Africa. Millions were being squandered on broken trucks, inefficiency, and
the destruction of a land and its peoples just so ivory and status could be gained. Further along the
path, Marlow avoids a hole with a purpose of which I found nearly impossible to

Government does not have My College s Back
Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college lecturer
and a well known secretary in The Ministry of Finance. I was about to return upstairs in my office
when I observed the secretary pushed forward, looking the lecturer directly in her eyes emphatically
and aggressively said, You academics just don t get it...the government aint gat no money to take care
no university. I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on. This same discussion
is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this country for many years, and the
debate is whether or not The Bahamas is economically, financially and socially developed enough to
maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article,
We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small
independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial
resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we
already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and
simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The
College of The Bahamas is not well equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital
components that need to be addressed urgently: Financial resources,Infrastructure and Staffing.

The Hebrews Are A Covenant Oriented Demographic
The Hebrews are a Covenant oriented demographic. Their holy book is the Torah and as defined by
God for the Torah there are six Covenants to follow these would include: Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly,
Davidic, and the New Covenant. The main question pertains to the fact of how faithful were the
Hebrews And God to these Covenants. Another thought is to how did these Covenants separate the
Hebrews from their surrounding neighbors? Can these covenants be applied to daily life and resound
on a personal level in 2016 as well?I firmly believe that the covenants can provide a peace of mind for
those that are willing to accept the Scriptures and apply them to be a more ethical and morally sound
person. The six Covenants define Hebrew law and give a basis for how the current population of
Jewish people follows and practice their religion. The first Covenant is the Abrahamic covenant this is
defined in Genesis chapters 12 through 13. In Genesis 12 and 15, God grants Abraham land and
descendants. This Covenant states that to make of Abraham a great nation and bless Abraham and
make his name great so that he will be a blessing, to bless those who bless him and curse him who
curses him and all peoples on earth would be blessed through Abraham. To give Abraham s
descendants all the land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates, this is now known as Israel. To make
Abraham the father of many nations and of many descendants and give the whole land of Canaan to

Persuasive Essay On The Confederate Statue
The violence continues as statues keep coming down in America currently. My goal today is to explain
why the confederate statue should stay or should be taken down everywhere in the United States.
There is three Main points that I m going to states and defend in this Essay and tell you why I believe
in them and there purposes. First why we need to keep them and not take them down. Second they will
help educated the future people for the better. Last of all I think that we should keep the statues all the
way and this is why. Why should we keep the statues you may ask, well there is no right or wrong
answer for this topic but I will do my best to defend my point and belief of why these statues should
not be torn down. The biggest reason I don t want these statues torn down is that it s not just a big
piece of metal sitting there or a regular statue, these are statues that have history behind them over the
years on when the south fought the north for a big turn for American history. People think they are
racist or wrong, but really they show where we are from and what we are about. This Battle goes back
to a massive shooting in 2015, when Dylan Roof shot nine people in a dominant black church in
Charleston, SC. Thus starting of the Statues being taken down across America. How will this help the
future for the better If someone that doesn t know what s going to history wise will most likely go
with the majority and the majority isn t the best bet all the time so it is

Self Deprivation In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Self Deprivation Women all over the world must follow society s expectations. In fact, in Saudi
Arabia, women could not drive until late September of this year! Similarly, in Sylvia Plath s The Bell
Jar, societal pressures push, the protagonist, Esther Greenwood to act in a particular way. Esther grows
up in a small town and goes to New York for an internship for journalism. Through this opportunity
she learns that she must act like an ideal woman of the time. Yet, she enjoys things that are out of the
normality. This causes her to lose who she is and who she wants to become. In The Bell Jar, Plath
reveals that strict women s standards may cause a loss of self. In the novel, women are upheld to a
typical standard of how to act in public. For example, in the past and even in the twenty first century
all over the world; women must dress a certain way. Using imagery Sylvia Plath describes how
women have to look and act in society. Women ...had to wear hats and stockings and gloves to class
(Plath 4). The author continues to say that the ladies who were out of school got jobs as secretaries.
These secretaries are wandering around New York looking to marry to a man with money. The author
illustrates how women have to dress and act a specific way which Esther did not conform with. She
wanted to be a successful writer with or without a husband. The strict standards women obliged to
leads to Esther losing her true identity.
Society pressures women to act in a specific way.

Gandhi And The Life Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Bapu (the father of the nation) and Mahatma (the great
soul) was born at Porbandar on 2nd October, 1869. Karamchand was his father and Putlibai was his
mother. His father was a hereditary diwan of a petty princely state in erstwhile Kathiwara. His mother
was a pious, God fearing, devout and simple lady given to traditional religious practices such as
prayers, reciting of God s names, counting rosary beads etc. They belonged to the caste of Vaishya. In
London, he had a very unhappy and restless life as he felt like a square peg in a round hole in the so
sophisticated English society and milieu. He remained almost an outcast although he tried to ape the
English youth. All his attempts to become a fashionable English gentleman again proved a
misadventure as his attempts to smoke and eating meat had proved earlier in India. Therefore, he gave
up these attempts of becoming a gentleman and decided to follow his own nature. There he read
Barnard Shaw s Plea for Vegetarianism and declared, From the day of reading this book, I may claim
to have become a vegetarian by choice the spread of which became my mission. He also set up a
vegetarian club there and one day invited Sir Adwin Arnold to become the club s Vice president. In
1891, he passed his Bar at Law examination and in the summer of the same year returned to India, to
his great relief, and he was called to the Bar at Bombay but again as a practitioner of law, he proved a

Romanian Culture Interview Essay
Though I was born in Detroit and am a first generation American, I have always identified more with
my Romanian heritage. My parents escaped from communist Romania and found a community of
other Romanians also seeking solace here in Michigan. We connected with each other through
churches spread throughout southeast Michigan. And so, I would be able to spend time with my
extended family and a multitude of other Romanians at least once every week. There is a saying here:
It takes a village to raise a child, and that could not be more true of the Romanian family that raised
me. They had imbued me with the harsh life lessons learned from living underneath a dictatorship and
the struggle of starting life from scratch after escaping from said dictatorship. ... Show more content

In Romanian culture, it is incredibly important to respect your elders as well as each other. I deduced
that the purpose behind this cultural phenomenon was to learn from others. By respecting my
Romanian elders, I opened up the avenue to understand and apply their wisdom. For example, I owe

overseas, I was raised to never take anything for granted. This included my own intelligence. As an
example, during my academic studies I made sure that I was not over confident of my abilities and

myself: Work hard enough so that it s impossible to fail. Each time I struggled in a class, certain that I

The Holy Qur An And From Authentic Hadith From Our...
Leadership in Islam is considered to be a necessity, no matter what time period we are in. This can be
seen through some of the ayat in the Holy Qur an and from authentic hadith from our beloved
Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu alayhi wa salam). Authentic leadership is something that is beneficial
for all people. Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) says in the Qur an, It is He Who hath made you (His)
agents, vicegerent of the earth: He hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in
the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft forgiving, Most
Merciful (Qur an ,Al An âm 6: 165). In this ayat we see that Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) has given
some people control over more things than others and that some are appointed as rulers. Allah
(subhanahu wa ta ala) Himself is telling us that some of the people are to be rulers over the other
people (Towards Understanding). Of course as with everything, Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) has given
us guidelines how to successfully be a good ruler. Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) has provided us with
the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa salam). The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wa salam) said,
All of you are shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock. An imam is a shepherd and he is
responsible for those in his care. A man is a shepherd in respect of his family and is responsible for
those in his care. The woman is a shepherd in respect of her husband s house and is

Significance Of The European Union
The European Union has grown from its humble beginnings of the European Coal and Steel
Community (ECSC) into a complex system of governance within Europe and it has become a key
figure internationally. The issue is whether the European Union (EU) has in this time grown into a
supranational form of governance with the establishment of treaties, or have the nation states stayed in
control. I am going to argue that the EU s supranational qualities are the allocation of shared common
interests among the nation states that compose it. It has been shown by history that the power
ultimately lies in the member state as evidenced by the need for unanimity in passing the treaties that
mandate the EU and earlier conceptions of it have resulted in the ... Show more content on

These issues were resolved allowing the member states to move forward with ratification, however,
there was a vast opposition to the Constitutional Treaty. The EU and the supporters of the treaty failed
to properly explain the Constitutional Treaty, causing it to be denied in France and the Netherlands.
The rejection of the treaty in certain states was caused by globalization, which was leading to
unemployment causing them to be alienated and frustrated, however, some of their complaints were
already apart of the European Union, so it shows the nation state has the power to accept an idea, and
then decline it at a later date as seen also by Brexit. The Lisbon Treaty stated that the power of the
European Union is given by the member states in the form of treaties, which allows the member states
to have several rights one of them being secession. The United Kingdom was one of the original
countries accepted in the enlargement of the ECSC it accepted upon joining that it would be apart of
the treaties that allowed the free movement of goods, services, capital and workers within the EU,
which was also accredited for the single market and the Euro as the result of spillover. On June 23rd,
2016 the UK voted to leave the European Union it was a rejection of free movement between the UK
and other European Nations that was sparked on by the migrant crisis since the EU was trying to put

Problem 1 Processing Controls
Presented in the following lines will be the three data control categories, two specific controls and
how each of the controls contributes to ensuring that the data is reliable. This problem is divided into
three different controls: Input, Processing and Output.
Input controls ensure the validity, accuracy and completeness of transactions. (Hall Singleton, 2011)
These controls mainly check the integrity of data entered into a business application. Data input is
checked to ensure that it remains within specified parameters.
Processing controls provide an automated means to ensuring the processing is complete, accurate and
authorized. (Hall Singleton, 2011). Processing controls can be divided into three categories which are
run to run controls, operator intervention controls, and Audit Trail controls.
Output controls ensure that output from the system is not lost, misdirected, or corrupted and privacy is
not violated. (Hall Singleton, 2011). These controls address what is done with the data and

The Effects Of Fructose On Body Weight Regulation
Anne Alexander, an editorial director of Prevention Magazine, published a diet book three years ago,
The Sugar Smart Diet, which reveals the potential cause of the epidemic of obesity and provides
feasible diets for weight loss. Alexander believes that added sugar directly contributes to continuous
weight gain in modern people. Over the past 40 years, the consumption of added sugar has increased
dramatically in processed foods, and the refined sugars have become critical and ubiquitous additives
for the food industry to enhance flavor and promote sales. At the same time, the number of obese
Americans climbed sharply as well (Harvard Health Letter, 2006). Therefore, Alexander reached the
conclusion that the food supply sugarjacked people and sugar overload became a public health crisis
that might result in obesity and many other diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Specifically, she stressed the strong adverse effects of fructose on body weight regulation. Fructose is
usually added to foods in the form of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is the primary caloric
sweetener in America and is one of the main focuses of this diet book and this paper. The overall goal
articulated in the sugar smart diet is to gradually remove excessive added sugar intake, particularly
fructose, so that your body can regain a healthy sugar balance. The method contains two major stages,
which last 32 days in total. In stage one, people are deprived of

Attila the Hun wasn t actually a very bad guy. And his real name was actually Attila, King of the
Huns. He grew up with murderous barbarians his whole life, and still turned out to be an OK guy. It is
known that He had a lot of wives, but no one really knows how many. When he was twelve years old,
he was sent as a hostage to Rome as a peace offering. The book we read said he prowled around on all
four limbs on a chain, like an animal when he got to Rome, even until he was eventually somehow
released. The Romans believed Attila to be a normal dirty, grubby, uneducated barbarian. But Attila
was far from the stereotypical barbarian . Attila was trained to an incredible above professional level

Thematic Patterns In Hamlet
Thematic Patterns
(An Analysis of the Themes in Shakespeare s Hamlet Acts 1, 2, and 3) More often than not, excellent
authors incorporate subtle themes into their story lines. These themes can seems nonexistent towards
the beginning of a plot, but after careful study and examination of the literature, a reader can find that
there are in fact many main themes that are being revisited throughout the work. These themes usually
have multiple meanings and can add essential details to deepen the meaning of the plot in its entirety.
As a system in the textual metafunction of language, the Theme/Rheme options play a significant role
in the creation of texture and structure which make spoken and written texts comprehendible to
listeners and readers. Thematic organization shows the method of development of a text ... Show more

Ontology, says tradition, is the science of being as such (Inwagen). In other words, ontology is the
study of one s being, or who or what you are. Bernardo boldly questions Francisco by saying, Who s
there? (Shakespeare). Francisco rebukes him by exclaiming, Nay, answer me. Stand and unfold
yourself. (Shakespeare). With these first two lines of the entire play, the reader can already infer that
this is going to be about identification. Who people say they are versus who they actually are is a
monumental argument in this drama. Claudius, the new king of Denmark, cleverly lies to everyone
about his true being: a murderer. Another example is Hamlet. Hamlet acts as if he is going insane for a
majority of the play. However, he is very much in control of his wits and is just pretending to be crazy
in order to get what he wants. Event unfold as the play progresses and people continue to lie and
deceive others with false information about themselves. Ontology is a key factor in the set up of
events that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Power Filter

2.2 FILTERS
2.3 ACTIVE FILTER
2.4 PASSIVE FILTERS
2.5 CLASSIFICATION OF PASSIVE FILTER
2.4 DISADVANTAGES OF PASSIVE FILTER
2.6 CONCLUSION
2.1 INTRODUCTION
The increase of electronic equipments has caused the increase in the nonlinear loads and due to these
loads power quality is being deteriorated. The supply voltage is distorted due to harmonic currents
drawn from the supply by nonlinear loads. Distorted currents and voltage cause the user s equipment
to not work properly, conductors will overheat and may decrease the efficiency and life of the
equipment. Usually a passive LC power filter is employed to wipe out the current harmonics ... Show

The parallel LC circuits create the very high impedance to the unwanted signal and a series circuit
forms very low impedance passage to ground at same frequency.
2.4 DISADVANTAGES OF PASSIVE FILTER
Following are the disadvantages of the passive filters:
Filter impedance should be smaller than the source impedance for mitigating the source current
harmonics and hence compensation characteristics depend on system impedance.
Overload condition can arise in the passive filter because of harmonics circulation arising from
nonlinear loads which are connected at the connection point of passive filters.
They are not recommended for the variable loads because their design is for some specific reactive
power and changing the load can detune the filter.
Resonances either in series or in parallel may appear in the system. [7]
Passive filters do not use active elements and hence signal gain is not provided by them.
Tuning of passive filters requires a lot of time and they are expensive when produced in large
quantities.
Passive filters higher than the 2nd order are complex and very difficult to design them.

Air Pollution In Australia
Air Pollution continues to be a problem in Australia, and is constantly increasing each year. Experts
say that if we don t minimize the impacts of development and reduce air pollution, Australia s global
footprint will not stay within the planets capacity to sustain life and natural resources. This is due to
the high level and concentration of industry compared to our population.
In Australia 3000 deaths each year are caused by air pollution. Scientific research shows that over the
last decade, air pollution is increasing due to overpopulated areas, and burning of fossil fuels in both
energy plants, and vehicles. The initiative conserve energy future states inhaling polluted air takes

which is the decision variable. He also wants to know the exact amount of part time and full time

See cells A5 21 through cells C5 21. Part time employees are paid $500 (Pesos) per day, and full time
employees are paid $1100 per day. Another constraint is the hours worked by part time employees
cannot exceed 50% of the total hours worked per day (total hours = part time+full time). This is
displayed in cell F36. Excel solver was used to solve the decision variable (E33), which is set as the
objective. Cells D5 though D21 are the number and type of employees per hour, and are variable. The
goal is to determine the minimum total cost per day. This is our decision variable, and is found in cell
E33 of Attachment 1. The constraints mentioned above are input into solver. The first line shows the
total number of part time employees must be less than or equal to 50% to the total labor hours each
day. The second line ensures that the changing values are integers. We do not want half an employee
to show up for his or her shift. The third line constraint ensures that the number of employees per shift
does not exceed 30. Lastly, the fourth line constraint took into account the minimum employees per
shift as specified by Acme. Our objective function is to minimize Acme s the total employee cost per
day. The total employee cost per day was calculated by multiplying the number of fulltime workers
per day (E8) by the salary per day (C31). This total is reflected in cell C33. The same was done for
part time workers: (E21)*(D31)=(D33). These two

since they do not know much about it. In my opinion, I think Rubik s Cube is more than just a toy. It
has always been a brain sport and even part of life to me. After I got rejected from Cornell, I was not
disappointed but sad. I started to realize that the Rubik s Cube would be more influential if more

The Ten Commandments Of Christianity
The Ten Commandments address the most important aspects of life for a Christian, they instruct
people not to murder, commit adultery, lie, and be honorable. They also instruct people most
importantly to only worship one god, and that is God the Father.
Christianity has deep roots in social justice, and Christians are directed to care for those that are poor,
and those that are afflicted. They are also directed to care for those that have no support system, or are
less fortunate than themselves. The model of behavior people are supposed to follow is that of Jesus,
who reflected God s sense of justice. A main component to Christianity is bringing the gospel of Jesus
to those of us that are less fortunate.

Analysis Of The Movie Brent Staples
Don t judge Others
It has been said, Judging a person does not define who they are...but defines who you are. Being
judged is discrimination toward a person s character. Discrimination is a practice to judge others based
on their person beliefs. There are many areas in which people are judge others such as appearance,
beliefs, race and religion. People discriminate against others because they base their judgment off
appearance. We all are human and we all should be treated equal. In this case, Brent Staples, Susan
Boyle, Travon Martin and myself are people who know what it means to be judge base on their
appearance. You can t judge people based on their appearance.
First, Brent Staples is a black man who is judged based on physical appearance by the public. Brent

How I Remember Squatting In The Dust Analysis
The narrator starts the story lamenting on her past. She mentions the miserable state she has always
lived in, bringing up what is assumed to be the Great Depression. Our narrator has childhood
memories set during the Great Depression, an event lasting a decade from the late 1920s to late 1930s.
She states that she was fourteen approaching fifteen years old. The real variable is how long after her
anecdote does this story take place? She clearly expresses her dislike for the conditions in which she
grew up. She makes several comments on how herself and the black workers of rural Maryland would
be treated today. Probably written about and studied like a new species, when their state of poverty
and suffering was nothing new. The almost cynical voice used gives the impression ... Show more

Her diction is one of an educated adult, or at least a well spoken college student. She uses strong
imagery when describing her hometown. She goes into great detail in describing not only the look of
the setting, but the mood as well. Her recollections of the past that directly involve the main story are
short, but help build the world in which the story is being told. In paragraph eight Elizabeth says I

with one sweep of his dirty foot. I remember fishing for minnows in a muddy creek and watching
sadly as they eluded my cupped hands, while Joey laughed uproariously as she remembers the past.
This is more than painting a picture for the audience. She uses physical descriptions as well as
conveying the setting through memories. You can almost feel her nostalgia for her younger innocent
days through the words. The memories described here are short, but give us examples of joy in her
youth. Juxtaposed to her other tellings of her childhood which seem mostly

Women s Struggle And Power
Throughout centuries, women were only considered to be chattel of the supreme male beings. They
received no accountability for their heroic actions, the gift of bearing children or raising them in the
infinite family line. Women s efforts and power to act, remained unnoticed by society. It is only during
a time of massacre and atrocious murder, that oblivion had crushed reality and the warped perspective
of a women s incapability s. The belief that a female could not perform a function adequately was
quickly demolished along with the idea of superior male soldiers that victoriously lost their lives in
battle. The First World War impacted the lives of all women in Canada by gaining partial equality to
men, the right to vote and a remarkable spread of female independence. Firstly, women worked to
authenticate that men were not inferior to them, either through occupations, education or skill, in order
to gain the equality they willingly challenged. The hardships of the First World War, had affected the
country and its economical standing with the departure of male soldiers overseas and the limited
resources available to the population left behind. Women had bravely taken the opportunity to replace
their husbands, fathers and sons, to aid the war effort or simply for the adventure. Over 30,000 women
were employed in ammunition factories, civil services or overseas as ambulance drivers and motor
transport occupations. This caused the movements of suffragists and the

to lessening use of electronics among teens around the globe. Many townships like Hillsborough, New
Jersey are debating about pulling the plug and going back to the books for the entire week of May 4th
to May 10th 2015. This screen free week celebration is known to help people get off their electronics
and interact with real people instead over social media where as people can take advantage of people
and/or steal information. However, many schools are against screen free week and are saying that
social media and electronics can be good for not only self esteem but, can help people learn too! Yet,
more than a thousand people are doing it world wide, and are working to help convince others to join
the international celebration of screen free week. As a result, screen free week can help increase social
interaction between teens, get rid of the everyday destruction of electronics in school, and help
increase privacy among peers. Many websites such as, facebook and instagram can help people make

Managing Workforce Training And Management For Economic...
With the costs associated in maintaining a skilled workforce shooting up, it is crucial for organizations
to adapt to the changing environments and make better informed decisions in terms of workforce
training and management for economic survival (Kapp, 1999). Managing workforces involve both
short term and long term decisions to determine the most effective practices and policies to close gaps
and meet future workforce needs. While long term decisions deal with the overall composition of the
workforce and the number of workers to hire or fire, short term decisions involve assigning workers to
tasks often with an objective like meeting demand or cross training. The focus of this thesis is on short
term scheduling models to assign workers to departments/tasks.
Scheduling models, with certain exceptions, often fail to capture a realistic scenario within the
mathematical model while assigning workers to tasks (Bruecker et al., 2015). Some of the key
challenges faced by managers in real situations are worker heterogeneity, the effects of
learning/forgetting and variation in demand. Both in production systems and service oriented
industries, assuming that all workers are equally productive while there can be substantial differences
in individual capabilities in the real world, could have a considerable effect on the realized
performance of the production system. Boudreau (2003), while contrasting the views of Operations
Management (OM) and Human Resources Management (HRM),

  • 2. True Life Schizophrenia Case Study Schizophrenia The True Life episode, I have Schizophrenia, documented the struggles of three adults who suffer from Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorder. This paper will focus around Josh and whether he actually has Schizophrenia. Josh is a 24 year old man who is from West Chester, Pennsylvania. While he lives in PA for all of the show, his housing situation is not ideal. At the beginning of the episode he lives in a hotel room, however halfway through he is evicted. He moves back and forth between a friend s house and his mom s house, until he finally settles in an apartment building for people who struggle with mental illness. He has a part time job in construction, and has little to no formal education. He seems to enjoy doing laborer work . Josh has also been diagnosed with schizophrenia. It is unclear when Josh s symptoms of schizophrenia started to develop. It is implied that he was diagnosed a while ago, based on the fact that he has been in and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first proof of this comes from Josh. He believes that he has a comprehension of animal languages. To him, when he hears a dog bark or a bird chirp, he can hear them speak human languages. This delusion of his is fueled by his hallucinations. His delusions are further proven by his mother, who states that he is unable to see the difference between what is real and what is in his mind. He also has confessed to being paranoid, which is a form of delusions. These two symptoms are enough to allow him to meet criteria A, however he also fulfills another symptom: Disorganized speech. This is not a symptom either Josh or his mother talks about; however there is a clear case of this during the course of the show. It is again when he is in the car. After wondering if anyone else heard a voice, he starts on a disorganized rant about ribbons and the sun, and later trails off, seemingly unable to answer the questions asked by his ... • 3. Mitochondrial Pathway Of Mitochondrial And Mitochondrial... 1.2.2. Mitochondrial pathway The mitochondrial pathway, also called intrinsic pathway, because it is initiated from inside the cell. Various stimuli such as growth factors withdrawal, DNA damage, hypoxia, and oxidative stress can induce apoptosis through this cascade. These insults cause increasing permeability of the outer mitochondrial membrane and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) pore which is controlled by members of the Bcl 2 family proteins. This large family of proteins is defined by the presence of conserved Bcl 2 homology domains (BH1 to BH4). Up to 30 Bcl 2 family genes have been identified in mammals, which have either pro apoptotic or anti apoptotic functions. Some of the anti apoptotic members include Bcl 2 itself, Bcl XL, Bcl w, BAG and Mcl 1 which possess all domains of BH1 to BH4. The pro apoptotic family proteins can be divided into two subgroups: consists of Bak, Bax, and Bok with possess BH1 to BH3 domains, and Bad, Bid, Bik, BNIP3, Bim, Bmf, Blk, Hrk, Noxa, Puma, and Spike) that only possesses BH3 domain [Cory, 2002; Mund, 2003]. It is believe that BH3 only proteins interfere with the fine tuned balance of homo or hetero oligomerization between pro apoptotic multidomains (eg., Bax/Bak) and anti apoptotic members (eg., Bcl 2/Bcl XL) (Figure 3). In general, oligomers of Bak, Bax, and Bok induce PMT, either by forming channels by themselves or by interacting with components of the PMT [Antonsson, 2000]. Bad can also heterodimerize ... • 4. The Problem Of Unnecessary Blindness There are specifically some important macro scale problems that should be addressed initially in order to help Aravind move towards fulfilling the organizational goals. Specifically these issues are looking at how the organization s operations will be expanded in the future including how the organization needs to plan to grow so it can reach a broader number of the blind population, and also if the organization is truly eradicating needless blindness in India as well as providing the highest quality service it can to both its paying and non paying customers. It is clear that in order to solve the problem of needless blindness in India the organization must make some move in order to reach a wider population. There are several options that Aravind has when moving into the future for how expansion will be facilitated. The first would be for it to continue with operations as currently set up, but publicize its business model and encourage other organizations to copy it and work alongside Aravind to eradicate needless blindness. While this is a viable and seemingly the easiest option, this should not be the only approach that Aravind considers. Aravind has some existing problems in its operations, management and marketing, and while it has achieved success in the past, there are some significant existing components that will contribute to greater weakness within Aravind s business model in the future. It is also uncertain if any other organizations will actually choose to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. A Student Board Representative For My School District Fifteen years ago, I served as the student board representative for my school district. All I can really remember is being entertained by emotional parent complaints and listening to jargon filled presentations. Upon receiving my first pink slip from that same district seven years later, I spoke at a school board meeting for the first time. Three years later, I was motivated by another pink slip to speak in front of a school board this time as a teacher for my current school district, San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). Since that first pink slip scare with JCCS, I have been a regular attendee at SDCOE board meetings. I try my best to pay attention and even take notes when JCCS is on the agenda. I have spoken on behalf of my students and coworkers and even helped to introduce my site s student board representative. However, I honestly spend most of the meetings bored by detailed presentations about programs far removed from my classroom or confused by topics that I do not completely understand. However, I keep attending. During the past few weeks, I attended the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) June 2 meeting and the SDCOE June 10 meeting. After observing a board meeting in a traditional school district for the first time in ten years, I was reminded of the strong parent and community voice that is often shared during board meetings in local districts. • 7. Analyzing Scientific Argumentation On The Conflict Resolving The Conflict 1. Need To Elucidate Scientific Argumentation When a subject matter is described as beyond logic, it is not meant illogical or that it completely lacks the usage of argumentation of any kind. If that would have been the norm, Shri Vallabhacharya would not have argumentatively defended the atomism of Jiva against the heterodox discipline propounded by Jainism in Chit Prakran of shastrarth prakran nibandha (ि.दी. वन. शभ.प्र.कभररकभ.53) and elsewhere. Bhagwad Gita states man who is of a doubting nature perishes (संशयात्मा विनश्यवि 4/40 ) . Here doubt means lacking faith and not lacking curiosity or questions which on the contrary tend to enhance the virtue of a learner. Similarly, when scriptures state something ... Electrons, being particles should hit directly behind the slit, producing particle like behaviour. Something like this However, the electrons instead produced wave pattern, which is only possible when a single electron passes through both the slits. Some of the electrons even hit the area directly behind the barrier. Something like this This showed that electrons have wave particle duality like the Light and it exists in a superposition which is a state of potential innumerable possibilities of existence. However, what further astounded the physicists was when a detector was placed to measure the passage of electrons to learn how it passes through both slits; the electrons immediately collapsed their wave function and reverted to particle like behaviour. Physicists then decided to act smart and switched on the detector once the electron had passed through the slit. But it seemed somehow the electrons knew that it was being detected and it immediately switched to particle like behaviour by adopting the passage from one of the either slit. In a nutshell, every time the electron was measured, it dropped its superposition and wave function. What stumps the physicists is the fact that what exactly counts as measurement that leads the electrons to change their course. There are no concrete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Epps family lives in subsidized housing in South Philadelphia. Epps father died when she was in the third grade, her mother lives on social security which provides $698 a month. She has a good GPA and is also good in sports. She applied for three colleges for higher education, but none of the colleges provided financial aid to her. Deficiency in academic preparation occurs because of poor plans to attend college and an absence of earlier experience of how the college environment works. The students from impoverished backgrounds did not go to high level schools, so they do not have the college knowledge which is needed to succeed in college and the future. In the article New Student Majority in South and West: Poor Children by Sarah D. Sparks, the author shares that mostly in the south and southwest states students live under poverty. Students academic careers are at a high risk because it is difficult to deal with their problems. More than 50 % of the students live in poverty which is a pretty high rate, there seems to be no place to get away from it. • 9. Current State Of New Zealand And The United States Of... Over the last thirty years the economic rise of China has contributed to a worldwide shift in power. Discussing the current state of New Zealand s relationship with both China and the United States of America (USA), this essay will outline likely future foreign policy choices. Authors such as Mosher and Krauthammer see the rise of China as a threat to the West that must be contained, a view which is not widely accepted. With reference to New Zealand s recent economic and strategic success this essay will suggest that future foreign policy must work to deepen relations with both countries. New Zealand must not choose between China nor the USA, instead a broad based approach to trade and international relations should be maintained. In 2008 New Zealand was the first of the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development countries to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China. As a result China has overtaken the USA as our second largest trading partner, with exports increasing from NZ$2.3 billion in 2008 to NZ$6.7 billion in 2012. In 2010 New Zealand set the goal of doubling two way trade with China by 2015, a goal which was achieved a full year earlier. Speaking to the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) in 2010 John Key described New Zealand China relations as unquestionably and unashamedly an economic relationship . Without pausing the New Zealand and Chinese governments have been quick to capitalize on this recent economic success. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Princess Diana Eulogy Analysis On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana died in a fatal car crash while in Paris. Her funeral was held on September 6, 1997, at Westminster Abbey in London, England. Thousands of people attended, while many more watched from their homes. A few of her family members spoke great things about her; however, the eulogy her brother wrote shocked the millions that were watching. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary a eulogy is a commendatory oration or writing especially in honor of one deceased (Merriam Webster Dictionary). This eulogy written for Princess Diana had many factors that set it apart from typical eulogies, but these aspects made it more effective. A typical eulogy consists of praise, happy memories, stories, and positive personality features of the one deceased. In opposition, this particular eulogy had a negative tone regarding the sadness in her life, as well as blaming the royal family and the paparazzi for her untimely passing. This eulogy used aspects that most speeches, essays, and other forms of writing use, including pathos, ethos, logos, parallelism, imagery, and negative comments toward her unfortunate loss of life. Earl used pathos to appeal to the audience s emotions. He used it to draw the audience in, and get their attention by talking about family. An example of pathos from the eulogy is, These were days I will always treasure. It was as if we had been transported back to our childhood when we spent such an enormous amount of time together ... When DJ Kool released this song in 1996, I m sure he wasn t talking about sinus problems, but I identified with it anyway. I couldn t help it. All I ever did was clear my throat. From the minute I got up in the morning to the time I went to bed, I sounded like a machine gun stuck on auto fire. The worst part was, I had no idea at the time that throat clearing was a social cue used to get attention. That was the LAST thing I wanted. I was embarrassed enough as it was. • 12. Volunteer Service In American Society In American society, helping those that are less fortunate has always served as one of our core values. Benjamin Franklin is credited as the first volunteer when he founded a volunteer firefighting company in 1736. During the Civil War, Ladies Aid Societies came together providing linen for bandages, wrappings, and many other cloth items. Often times, the volunteer willingly makes concessions in their own schedule to help others or provide services for charitable organizations. What motivates the volunteer to sacrifice their own time in the service of others? In this paper, I will address a variety of factors that drive the individual to give back to their community. • 13. Darkness Of Darkness Analysis As Marlow s shares his story with those listening, or not listening, on the Nellie, he continually points out the wastefulness the Europeans exhibited in the Belgium controlled Congo region. The first place he lands in Africa is the Company Station. He witnesses the wastefulness immediately. He saw a railway truck lying there on its back and personified it as dead as the carcass of some animal (Conrad 19). Nearby were some workers assigned to building a railway who was blowing up a cliff with objectless blasting (Conrad 19). The adjectives he uses to describe the Europeans actions connote that this was a waste of energy, brain power, and company resources. As a sailor, Marlow was probably used to efficiency and maximum production. Being that sailors are out on the sea for long periods of time, they cannot afford to waste resources because it can endanger the whole crew. This stuns Marlow. While trying to imperialize the Congo, the government squandered millions on these infernal and desolate shores , of the millions flung away which brought nothing but wars and disasters of all kinds (Raskin 122). This was a sentiment shared by a fellow sailor named Rimbaud who also realized the waste of colonializing Africa. Millions were being squandered on broken trucks, inefficiency, and the destruction of a land and its peoples just so ivory and status could be gained. Further along the path, Marlow avoids a hole with a purpose of which I found nearly impossible to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on. This same discussion is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this country for many years, and the debate is whether or not The Bahamas is economically, financially and socially developed enough to maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article, We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The College of The Bahamas is not well equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital components that need to be addressed urgently: Financial resources,Infrastructure and Staffing. ... Their holy book is the Torah and as defined by God for the Torah there are six Covenants to follow these would include: Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly, Davidic, and the New Covenant. The main question pertains to the fact of how faithful were the Hebrews And God to these Covenants. Another thought is to how did these Covenants separate the Hebrews from their surrounding neighbors? Can these covenants be applied to daily life and resound on a personal level in 2016 as well?I firmly believe that the covenants can provide a peace of mind for those that are willing to accept the Scriptures and apply them to be a more ethical and morally sound person. The six Covenants define Hebrew law and give a basis for how the current population of Jewish people follows and practice their religion. The first Covenant is the Abrahamic covenant this is defined in Genesis chapters 12 through 13. In Genesis 12 and 15, God grants Abraham land and descendants. This Covenant states that to make of Abraham a great nation and bless Abraham and make his name great so that he will be a blessing, to bless those who bless him and curse him who curses him and all peoples on earth would be blessed through Abraham. My goal today is to explain why the confederate statue should stay or should be taken down everywhere in the United States. There is three Main points that I m going to states and defend in this Essay and tell you why I believe in them and there purposes. First why we need to keep them and not take them down. Second they will help educated the future people for the better. Last of all I think that we should keep the statues all the way and this is why. Why should we keep the statues you may ask, well there is no right or wrong answer for this topic but I will do my best to defend my point and belief of why these statues should not be torn down. The biggest reason I don t want these statues torn down is that it s not just a big piece of metal sitting there or a regular statue, these are statues that have history behind them over the years on when the south fought the north for a big turn for American history. People think they are racist or wrong, but really they show where we are from and what we are about. This Battle goes back to a massive shooting in 2015, when Dylan Roof shot nine people in a dominant black church in Charleston, SC. Thus starting of the Statues being taken down across America. • 19. Self Deprivation In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Self Deprivation Women all over the world must follow society s expectations. In fact, in Saudi Arabia, women could not drive until late September of this year! Similarly, in Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, societal pressures push, the protagonist, Esther Greenwood to act in a particular way. Esther grows up in a small town and goes to New York for an internship for journalism. Through this opportunity she learns that she must act like an ideal woman of the time. Yet, she enjoys things that are out of the normality. This causes her to lose who she is and who she wants to become. In The Bell Jar, Plath reveals that strict women s standards may cause a loss of self. In the novel, women are upheld to a typical standard of how to act in public. For example, in the past and even in the twenty first century all over the world; women must dress a certain way. Using imagery Sylvia Plath describes how women have to look and act in society. Women ...had to wear hats and stockings and gloves to class (Plath 4). The author continues to say that the ladies who were out of school got jobs as secretaries. These secretaries are wandering around New York looking to marry to a man with money. The author illustrates how women have to dress and act a specific way which Esther did not conform with. She wanted to be a successful writer with or without a husband. The strict standards women obliged to leads to Esther losing her true identity. Society pressures women to act in a specific way. ... This can be seen through some of the ayat in the Holy Qur an and from authentic hadith from our beloved Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu alayhi wa salam). Authentic leadership is something that is beneficial for all people. Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) says in the Qur an, It is He Who hath made you (His) agents, vicegerent of the earth: He hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft forgiving, Most Merciful (Qur an ,Al An âm 6: 165). In this ayat we see that Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) has given some people control over more things than others and that some are appointed as rulers. Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) Himself is telling us that some of the people are to be rulers over the other people (Towards Understanding). Of course as with everything, Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) has given us guidelines how to successfully be a good ruler. Allah (subhanahu wa ta ala) has provided us with the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa salam). The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wa salam) said, All of you are shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock. An imam is a shepherd and he is responsible for those in his care. Significance Of The European Union The European Union has grown from its humble beginnings of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) into a complex system of governance within Europe and it has become a key figure internationally. The issue is whether the European Union (EU) has in this time grown into a supranational form of governance with the establishment of treaties, or have the nation states stayed in control. I am going to argue that the EU s supranational qualities are the allocation of shared common interests among the nation states that compose it. It has been shown by history that the power ultimately lies in the member state as evidenced by the need for unanimity in passing the treaties that mandate the EU and earlier conceptions of it have resulted in the ... The EU and the supporters of the treaty failed to properly explain the Constitutional Treaty, causing it to be denied in France and the Netherlands. The rejection of the treaty in certain states was caused by globalization, which was leading to unemployment causing them to be alienated and frustrated, however, some of their complaints were already apart of the European Union, so it shows the nation state has the power to accept an idea, and then decline it at a later date as seen also by Brexit. The Lisbon Treaty stated that the power of the European Union is given by the member states in the form of treaties, which allows the member states to have several rights one of them being secession. The United Kingdom was one of the original countries accepted in the enlargement of the ECSC it accepted upon joining that it would be apart of the treaties that allowed the free movement of goods, services, capital and workers within the EU, which was also accredited for the single market and the Euro as the result of spillover. • 26. The Effects Of Fructose On Body Weight Regulation Anne Alexander, an editorial director of Prevention Magazine, published a diet book three years ago, The Sugar Smart Diet, which reveals the potential cause of the epidemic of obesity and provides feasible diets for weight loss. Alexander believes that added sugar directly contributes to continuous weight gain in modern people. Over the past 40 years, the consumption of added sugar has increased dramatically in processed foods, and the refined sugars have become critical and ubiquitous additives for the food industry to enhance flavor and promote sales. At the same time, the number of obese Americans climbed sharply as well (Harvard Health Letter, 2006). Therefore, Alexander reached the conclusion that the food supply sugarjacked people and sugar overload became a public health crisis that might result in obesity and many other diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Specifically, she stressed the strong adverse effects of fructose on body weight regulation. Fructose is usually added to foods in the form of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is the primary caloric sweetener in America and is one of the main focuses of this diet book and this paper. The overall goal articulated in the sugar smart diet is to gradually remove excessive added sugar intake, particularly fructose, so that your body can regain a healthy sugar balance. The supply voltage is distorted due to harmonic currents drawn from the supply by nonlinear loads. The parallel LC circuits create the very high impedance to the unwanted signal and a series circuit forms very low impedance passage to ground at same frequency. 2.4 DISADVANTAGES OF PASSIVE FILTER Following are the disadvantages of the passive filters: Filter impedance should be smaller than the source impedance for mitigating the source current harmonics and hence compensation characteristics depend on system impedance. Overload condition can arise in the passive filter because of harmonics circulation arising from nonlinear loads which are connected at the connection point of passive filters. They are not recommended for the variable loads because their design is for some specific reactive power and changing the load can detune the filter. Resonances either in series or in parallel may appear in the system. [7] Passive filters do not use active elements and hence signal gain is not provided by them. Tuning of passive filters requires a lot of time and they are expensive when produced in large quantities. Passive filters higher than the 2nd order are complex and very difficult to design them. ... • 36. How I Remember Squatting In The Dust Analysis The narrator starts the story lamenting on her past. She mentions the miserable state she has always lived in, bringing up what is assumed to be the Great Depression. Our narrator has childhood memories set during the Great Depression, an event lasting a decade from the late 1920s to late 1930s. She states that she was fourteen approaching fifteen years old. The real variable is how long after her anecdote does this story take place? She clearly expresses her dislike for the conditions in which she grew up. She makes several comments on how herself and the black workers of rural Maryland would be treated today. Probably written about and studied like a new species, when their state of poverty and suffering was nothing new. The almost cynical voice used gives the impression ... She goes into great detail in describing not only the look of the setting, but the mood as well. Her recollections of the past that directly involve the main story are short, but help build the world in which the story is being told. In paragraph eight Elizabeth says I remember squatting in the road drawing a picture in the dust, a picture which Joey gleefully erased with one sweep of his dirty foot. I remember fishing for minnows in a muddy creek and watching sadly as they eluded my cupped hands, while Joey laughed uproariously as she remembers the past. This is more than painting a picture for the audience. She uses physical descriptions as well as conveying the setting through memories. You can almost feel her nostalgia for her younger innocent days through the words. The memories described here are short, but give us examples of joy in her youth. Juxtaposed to her other tellings of her childhood which seem mostly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Women s Struggle And Power Throughout centuries, women were only considered to be chattel of the supreme male beings. They received no accountability for their heroic actions, the gift of bearing children or raising them in the infinite family line. Women s efforts and power to act, remained unnoticed by society. It is only during a time of massacre and atrocious murder, that oblivion had crushed reality and the warped perspective of a women s incapability s. The belief that a female could not perform a function adequately was quickly demolished along with the idea of superior male soldiers that victoriously lost their lives in battle. The First World War impacted the lives of all women in Canada by gaining partial equality to men, the right to vote and a remarkable spread of female independence. Firstly, women worked to authenticate that men were not inferior to them, either through occupations, education or skill, in order to gain the equality they willingly challenged. The hardships of the First World War, had affected the country and its economical standing with the departure of male soldiers overseas and the limited resources available to the population left behind. Women had bravely taken the opportunity to replace their husbands, fathers and sons, to aid the war effort or simply for the adventure. Over 30,000 women were employed in ammunition factories, civil services or overseas as ambulance drivers and motor transport occupations. This caused the movements of suffragists and the ... • 39. Managing Workforce Training And Management For Economic... With the costs associated in maintaining a skilled workforce shooting up, it is crucial for organizations to adapt to the changing environments and make better informed decisions in terms of workforce training and management for economic survival (Kapp, 1999). Managing workforces involve both short term and long term decisions to determine the most effective practices and policies to close gaps and meet future workforce needs. While long term decisions deal with the overall composition of the workforce and the number of workers to hire or fire, short term decisions involve assigning workers to tasks often with an objective like meeting demand or cross training. The focus of this thesis is on short term scheduling models to assign workers to departments/tasks. Scheduling models, with certain exceptions, often fail to capture a realistic scenario within the mathematical model while assigning workers to tasks (Bruecker et al., 2015). Some of the key challenges faced by managers in real situations are worker heterogeneity, the effects of learning/forgetting and variation in demand. Both in production systems and service oriented industries, assuming that all workers are equally productive while there can be substantial differences in individual capabilities in the real world, could have a considerable effect on the realized performance of the production system. Boudreau (2003), while contrasting the views of Operations Management (OM) and Human Resources Management (HRM), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
