The Significance Of The Ten Duel Commandments By Lin-Mel...
It s a simple catchy song which always makes a person who knows proper dueling etiquette
cringe, especially with the songs before and after adding to the heavy sense of historical
inaccuracy. While the intent of the Ten Duel Commandments is to give the modern audience some
knowledge on how dueling is done, Lin Mel Miranda has many things wrong within this attempt.
He gives a modern viewer an incorrect assumption of the process of proper pistol dueling. The
song gives a list of ten things in a specific order, a parody of the Ten Commandments, leading the
listener to believe the challenge is first. This is sadly out order and very misleading. The second
point is happily a bit more reliable information. You do have a second handle your negotiations,
although he left out a few crucial elements. In the description of the duelitself, we have a couple of
here and there discrepancies that finish making this song detrimental to the true understanding of
historical duels of this era. The Ten Commandments of the Old Testament is well known to almost
everyone in the modern American public given most of our founding was on Christian doctrine and
traditions. This also ties into the amount of top ten lists that are so popular in American Culture,
which has lead to the modern viewer s preconceived notion that something listed as Number 1 is the
first and most important thing in the list given. In the song, point number one is The Challenge
demands satisfaction. If they apologize

Questionnaire On Catering For Diversity Essay
2. Catering for Diversity
Artefact 1: Year 2 lesson plan on persuasive writing evaluation of plan, 2015.
Assessment of student learning Observation of student responses.
Assessment of student posters using key words of persuasion (from initial brainstorming session)
Evaluation Some students did not grasp the concept of the poster as struggled to come up with
reasons as to what in the poster persuades them to watch the movie.
As a result spent more time on discussing the poster therefore students did not get enough time to
complete their posters.
Follow up lesson on persuasive posters.
This artefact was utilised on my prac in April of 2015 with a Year 2 class. The lesson was an
English lesson, covering the content of persuasive words and writing. My mentor informed me
the students had previously worked on persuasive words and so I planned the lesson according to
this. Students viewed the movie poster for Madagascar 3, which I chose based on their interests. I
engaged the students in discussions about the target audience, text, colour, characters and how
these all things contribute to persuade people to go and watch the movie. As a class we
brainstormed key persuading words. Students were then asked to create their own persuasive poster
about something they like and would like to persuade their peers to like. This ensured that the
lesson catered for student diversity as they all have different interests and were encouraged to
present them in their own creative

Research Paper On Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is an American holiday that celebrate the Pilgrim s successful harvest. The Pilgrims
were thankful that they had survived in the New World. At the first Thanksgiving feast, people ate
lobster, seal, swan, and deer meat. In modern times, we serve turkey dinners, have family
gatherings, and watch football games. Many also donate foodto neighbors who don t have enough
two eat. Thanksgivingis an American which is widely celebrated.
The holiday Thanksgiving has a long history to where it got today. The Pilgrims left England in
September 1620 on a ship called the Mayflower. They arrived on Massachusetts Bay to
established their village at Plymouth. Mayflower s passengers suffered a lot during the winter
only half lived to see America. The Pilgrims settle ashore and was greeted by the Native
American in english. Several days later, he brought Squanto who Squanto taught the Pilgrims
many survival skills that help them thrive in such a difficult area to adapt to. Squanto also help
formed an alliance with the neighboring tribe which endure 50 years of peace and harmony
between the Natives and Europeans. In November 1621, Governor William Bradford called for a
feast to celebrate the colony s first successful corn harvest. He invited their Native American allies.

Jumonville Massacre
Pennsylvania. Washington s men murdered the gathering in what came to be recognized as The
Battle of Jumonville Glen. France and England initially pursued the French and Indian War mainly
for power of the area known as the Ohio River Valley. The Ohio River Valley was a property filled
with fur bearing animals and profuse resources. Both English and French colonists wanted to settle
it to make fortunes in the fur trade. The Ohio River formed by the union of the Allegheny and
Monongahela Rivers at the time Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ran through the valley. As French settlers
arrived upon the area from Canada, and English settlers came from Virginia, territory clashes were
unavoidable. Neither side was willing to negotiation, as each assumed they... Show more content on

This regulation caused stresses between colonists and imperial representatives, who made it clear
that the British Parliament would not discourse American protests that the new laws were
onerous. British refusal to act to American requests for adjustment endorsed colonists to debate
that they were part of a progressively dishonest and overbearing empire in which their traditional
rights were endangered. This situation ultimately acted as the base for the colonial Declaration of
Independence. Boston Tea Party in 1763, the British government developed from the Seven Years
War loaded by heavy debts. This led British Prime Minister George Grenville to cut duties on
sugar and molasses but also to urge the law more firmly. Since enforcement of these duties had
formerly been negligent, this eventually increased income for the British Government and assisted
to raise the taxes funded by the colonists. The colonial governments of New York and
Massachusetts sent strict letters of dissent to Parliament. The end of the war had additionally
carried about a postwar recession, and British traders began to appeal expense for debts that

Portrayal of Women in Music Videos
The tarnished masterpiece of the present century
Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final
masterpiece. Author unknown. It is indeed hard to imagine or comprehend such a quote in a
society where women are often portrayed as sex symbols and sex objects. Media is one of the
major sources for gender depictions in our society and it has played a major role in placing
unfathomable gender roles on women in regards to how they are to behave, and address
themselves within a society. The gender depictions of women in our society are truly very
saddening and mind blowing!
Music is one of the most influencing media within our time and generation, especially Rap and hip
hop. Demoralizing women has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consequences of these constant beat down on women are becoming very real in our society.
For instance, a 12 year old girl has reported that she was raped by a group of 14 year old boys at
a recreational center and it was reported just this morning. I believe that media is very influential in
these sorts of behavior from teenage boys. Media encourages these things through vulgar music,
degrading advertisements, and it promotes violence and abuse towards women and now, even little
girls.
Rap music in general has failed miserably in portraying the true worth of a woman. Women have
a character that men cannot replace in any other way. Behind every great man, there is a great
woman, and I strongly believe this because it is very applicable in my life as well. I can say that
my mother plays an important role in my life, and she stood behind my success till now. Being an
international student in this country takes a lot of courage, but the support and encouragement
from my mother has helped me every step of the way. She is able to do things that a man cannot
do; to be the nurturing, caring, patient, loving, and protective woman she can be to her children and
her family.
A woman should not be used as a sexual object or a sex symbol because that wasn t the purpose
of her creation. She was called to be a mother, a sister, a daughter. I am very saddened by the way
things have turned out in our society pertaining to

Teaching New Meanings For The Sorority Environment
You quickly become what you surround yourself with. This concept was a constant reminder my
mother gave me when I moved off to college. As a senior, I find this advice to hold very true
when I reflect on the organizations that I have been a part of. My sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, has had
the biggest influence on not only my character, but my languageas well. What first seemed like
jargon has now become primary language. From learning new meanings for everyday vocabulary
to different intonational patterns, my language has adapted to the environment that I have
surrounded myself with for the past three years. Within a sorority, there are various terms that are
held secret due to our ritual ceremonies; however, there are also numerous terms that we will use
in everyday language. These terms are average words that are used throughout the day by a vast
majority of the world population. However, when the words are used in the sorority environment,
they take on a completely new meaning. In other words, they are semantically altered. A primary
example is the transition of the words big and little from adjectives to proper nouns. Instead of
defining an object s size, these terms are now used to name your big and little sister in the sorority. I
remember getting asked my freshman year, Are you going to rush? I immediately thought, Rush
where? As I transitioned into the Greek community, I quickly realized that the term rush changes
meaning and now means going through sorority or

Brother Death
Control has many different meanings for many different people. To most, however, this word
brings to mind one person forcing another do his or her will, but other things have control over
people as well. Sherwood Anderson shows two examples of control in Don and Ted. These two
characters have problems created by their difficult lives. The other characters personalities either
help or hinder the children, creating a family with a constant conflict until one of the characters
either changes, or disappears from the story all together.

She describes what they look like and even gives a little background on them so the reader can
get a better idea of their personalities. Ted changes once during the story, with the help of his
sister, Mary. Before this change occurred, the family always made him upset by never letting
him do the things that he wants to do. They constantly watched him and told him to be careful,
not letting him run or play. Mary, seeing the injustice of this, decided to do something about it.
One day, when Ted and Mary got back from swimming in the creek, Louise, their mother, told
Ted he mustn t. The rest of her sentence left unsaid, but nonetheless clearly understood. He
mustn t do all the dangerous things he does. While Ted left out of anger, Mary stayed her ground
and argued for her brother, telling Louise she should stop reminding Ted of his illness and leave
him alone to do as he pleased. Her argument took Louise by surprise so much that she decides, to
Ted s great joy, to give the children their freedom. When he dies at the end of the story, Mary
feels he had a happy life. Don, in Mary s mind, had the hardest life of all.
The conflict between Don and his father John shows another way situations in life can have control
over someone. Anderson describes Don as almost an exact copy of his father in everything from his
personality to his looks. Anderson shows her readers using direct characterization a

Maritime Exploration Challenges Of Ferdinand Magellan And...
Maritime Exploration Challenges of Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Francis Drake Exploration of
the oceans was very popular during the time of Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan and
English explorer Sir Francis Drake. Ferdinand Magellan was a young Portuguese man who
enlisted under the Spanish king before he began his expedition to go on a trip around the world
on the 10th of August in 1519 ( Ferdinand 1). Ferdinand Magellan was in search of both fortune
and fame, and he left Spain with 5 ships in hopes of finding a western course for the Spice Islands (
Ferdinand Magellan ). Sir Francis Drakeled the English voyage for maritime exploration, sailing
off in 1577 with 5 ships to embark on a journey around South America via the Straits of Magellan
( Francis ). Both voyages and explorers were met with several challenges in which they had to
quickly resolve. The first of the many issues faced by Ferdinand Magellan and his journey
occurred after they were docked at the Port of St. Julian in the spring of 1520. It was during this
time that three of the ships rose up against the Captain major, their captains saying that they
intended to take him to Castile in arrest, as he was taking them all to destruction ( Ferdinand 2).
While this mutiny was the first of his challenges, it was quickly taken care of by Ferdinand, who
had one of the captains executed and another excommunicated. Although he started out his
exploration with 5 ships, he sailed away from the Port of St. Julian with 4 ships after one was
sent ahead and was shipwrecked due to severe weather. On October 21 of the same year,
Magellan entered the straight he was looking for that would later be named after him. Two ships
entered to see what was inside of the channels in the straight. From the two ships that entered, one
ship, captained by Alvaro de Mesquita, entered into one of the bays which was to the south, and
did not return any more ( Ferdinand 3). At this point, Magellan was down to 3 out of the 5 ships
that he originally started with. He did not wait for this ship, and instead continued the journey after
leaving a note in case the ship returned. In March of 1521, while no longer in the strait but back on
the seas, Magellan once again anchored at

The Importance Of Power In Representative Democracy
In Representative Democracy it is where one person rules with the government. The people
choose a person to run for office and sometimes the people run themselves. After that the people
vote for who they think is best suited for the job. Some power is with the people who vote.
Some power is with the people because they get to pick and vote the best person for office. The
real person in power is the person picked to go into office because they get to rule the country
mostly. In Representative Democracythe people who have no say or power is the people. Even
though they have the right to vote for who they want to represent them, the person the people pick
could turn on them. The person they end up picking could have said things that the

Motte And Bailey Castles In Europe During The Middle Ages
Motte and bailey castles have been built all over Europe during the Middle Ages, especially in
England, Wales, and Scotland. They were extremely popular for almost 200 years, and motte
castles continued to be built until the 13th century. They were very innovative during the
Medieval time period. Motte and bailey castles were hard work to construct and eventually
evolved into impressive, more advanced fortresses. The original motte and bailey castles were
incredibly cheap to construct. They were built from just earth and wood and didn t require any
special design. A wooden keepcalled a motte sat on an elevated bank of soil and overlooked the
bailey, an enclosed courtyard. Although some cases consisted of the motte sitting upon a hill,
most of the time mottes were on a man made piece of earthwork. Men would pile up dirt and clay
and flatten out the top to create a stable surface for the motte. The keep was the building,
originally made of wood, that sat upon the motte. This is where the lord and his wife lived. It was
surrounded by a protective wall,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concentric castles were made of stone and built primarily for protection and defense. The building
of these concentric designs began in the 1200s. The castles consisted of thick walls surrounding the
main castle, usually one large wall surrounding a smaller one. The walls were designed to create
obstacles for anyone trying to attack the castle. The hard, tall walls made it difficult for the
attacker to get at the castle and made it easier for the defenders to fire at them from above. Its
symmetrical shape also made it easier for lookout men to see across the surrounding countryside.
The concentric castles, as beneficial as they were, were also extremely expensive and time
consuming to build. As opposed to motte and bailey castles, which only took a few weeks to build,
concentric castles required years of

The Uses Of Computers
For agents to provide an excellent level of assistance, they need the greatest tools that you can
provide them. The tools we are referring too fall into three main categories:
Hardware, the equipment that agents use
Software, the user interfaces that the agents use
Training, probably the most important toolkit an agent can have
Hardware
Perhaps the best place to start is with the most simple equipment. The price of computers has
fallen substantially over the past few years, so big gains can be made from a relatively meager
expense.
Inadequate, low quality computers influence users badly in two main ways. The first is the
difficulty of navigating between applications and locating the necessary information. The second is

There is a trend, prevalent in a lot of contact centers, to put continuous systems issues in the too
difficult to fix division. Rather than approaching the underlying concerns by investing in better
resources and upgrades, recurring difficulties are allowed to remain. This can do incalculable harm
to the customer experience and the capacity of agents to solve interactions.
There s a manageable mantra for evaluating systems performance: Reliability, Availability, and
Maintainability (RAM). That involves ensuring new systems normally work, that they have limited
downtime, and that they can be corrected efficiently when failing.
Knowledge Management Systems
Within every business, there is a lot of knowledge and experience locked within the workforce, and
discovering a way to merge it is advantageous for both the agents and the business.
The difference between Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) and intranets is shorter than it
used to be; what s significant is the functionality that it offers to agents. Intranets and KMSs can
provide a simple way for employees to communicate across the business, however universally
spread they are geographically.
One of the principal reasons this communication has been important to businesses is the training
and collaboration assistance it can allow. This kind of knowledge distribution tends to be how non

We should then pray for those in these relationships; specific prayers of intercession and for
wisdom for both us and them (pp. 120 123). Building bridges involves utilizing points of contact to
develop a closer and stronger relationship with others. Thompson offers several suggestions for
various occasions, such as sending cards, making phone calls, or visiting others. Showing God s love
by meeting the needs of others also helps to build these bridges. Thompson closes by addressing
the ultimate point of this book; the act of sharing Christ and helping new believers to grow
spiritually, including making disciples themselves. Evaluation Thompson presents a very
convicting treatise on the significance of relationships in the Christian witness. This book causes
the reader to examine their own relationships, as well as their lifestyle, in order to evaluate the
degree of the reflection of Christ in their incarnational witness. Through his systematic process of
self examination and relational observation, combined with intercessory prayer and discipleship
ministry, Thompson offers a simple, yet profound method of using personal relationships to share
the gospel of Christ with family, friends, coworkers, and complete strangers. He expounds on the
principle that mankind is a relational being, created to fellowship with God and other humans, to
develop his approach to personal evangelism and, equally important, follow up

Part B Integrated Summary- Surgical Safety
PART B INTEGRATED SUMMARY SURGICAL SAFETY
The World Health Organisation (WHO) implemented the surgical safety checklist, to minimise the
discrepancies that occur as a result of improper identification of the patient (appendix O post 3).
Improper identification leads to wrong procedure, hence complication and possibly death (Position
Statement Surgical Safety 2015). The WHO checklist helps to improve surgical safety through
confirming safety practices are upheld and developing better communication within the
multidisciplinary team (Position Statement Surgical Safety 2015), thus providing optimum patient
care (ACORN Competency standard 5). Surgery related complication and mortality was reduce by
33%, through a study of eight hospitals from 2007 to 2008 (Position Statement Surgical Safety
2015). Therefore proving that compliance with safety measure were increased as a result of
endorsing the SSC, and obliges to competency standard 3.3. Through briefing and debriefing,
standard of care is improved, as the whole multidisciplinary team is made aware of the procedure,
and allows for optimal performance, which decrease surgery time, thus improve surgical safety
(ACORN Competency Standard 9). Furthermore it is important that each hospital adapt their own
policy in regards to the type of facility, such as in the occurrence of near miss episode (appendix
1,), institutions must refine their policy to provide the best care for the patients (Position Statement
Surgical Safety 2015).

The controlled variable, which is the amount of time used during each test run, 15 seconds, will
also help to validate each test. By ensuring that the same time is used each time, the level of
saturated and unsaturated sheets can easily be measured by counting the sheets that were left
saturated and unsaturated after each 15 second interval. The relationship between the
independent variable, amount of water used, and the dependent variable, the reduction of toilet
paper, gives this experiment the ability to easily show the saturation of each brand of toilet
paper and well as the unsaturated aspect of each brand of toilet paper. Hypothesis: The
absorbency of toilet paper must be in direct relation to the quality of such said toilet paper. The
absorbency of toilet paper does not have any impact on price, name brand, availability or the
amount of toilet paper used. This hypothesis was derived due to the outside influence consumers
encounter from name brand, word of mouth or media deliverance of toilet paper. It is predicted
that Charmin would be the most absorbent in terms of saturation due to its thickness. Process of

Lecture 5 Articles vs Constitution
The Articles of Confederation constructed a national government that had military power, elected
officials, power to declare war, and even the power to manage indian relations. It took many
complaints, and conflicts to ratify the Articles of Confederation. It has a certain structure, and many
weaknesses. On the other hand, the Constitution was also opposed, but accepted as well, and it is
ratified. A federal constitution was first proposed on June 12, 1176, when the Second Continental
Congress called for a thirteen man committee to draw it. It became known as the articles of

Dickinson was the main contributor to the Articles of confederation. He called it a League of
Friendship .The Articles took 5 years to get approved by all 13 states, and were ratified until
March 1, 1781. The length taken to ratify the Articles was seen as a lack in common unity. There
was complaint that states with land could use their tracts to pay money for common cause. It
seemed logical that the western area be given to the central government to get rid of land for
common benefit . There was a problem with landed estates, which had land west of the
Appalachians, and the landless states, which boundaries were defined. It became an even bigger
problem with the proclamation line of 1763. The landless states said that land that was debated

Mercury and Commercial Salmon
Commercial salmon is an important source of nutrition for humans in both urban populations and
aboriginal peoples. However, mercury contamination in salmonids has been a rising concern not
only for the health of humans but for the health of wildlife and ecosystems that are affected by it.
Mercury is distributed widely through the environment through natural processes, but
anthropogenic processes have been increasing mercury concentrations in the environment to
dangerous levels through direct deposition in soil and through atmospheric deposition. In this essay,
I will review the processes in which mercury circulated through the ecosystems, how salmonis
affected by it, and how the consumption of salmon affects human health.
About Salmonids Salmonids is a group of species classified under the family Salmonidae.
Salmonidae consists of 5 genera and 14 species primarily residing in the arctic. The family of
salmonidae includes salmons, trouts, and chars. A few species of salmonidae discussed in this
essay include the sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerca), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss),
brown trout (Salmo trutta), cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki), Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus
tshawytscha), and Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) (Farrell and Steffensen, 2005).
Overview of the Circulation of Mercury Inorganic mercury becomes deposited into the atmosphere
and soil by both natural processes and anthropogenic processes. Natural processes include volcanic
events, breakdown of

Mark Cuban Leadership Style
When Mark Cuban was 12, he sold garbage bags door to door to pay for a pair of expensive
basketball shoes he wanted. Cuban is now an extremely successful entrepreneur with a net
worth of about 2.6 billion dollars. His fortune came mainly from a business he created called
Broadcast.com, originally Audionet, which he sold to Yahoo! for 5.7 billion. He now owns the
Dallas Mavericks NBA team and stars on Shark Tank. After making a comment about a referee
that he wouldn t hire to manage a Dairy Queen, Cuban went to work at one for a day. Mark Cuban
is an admirable person because he is determined to make money and is charitable towards people
who need his help, and leads his companies through the hard economic times. When Cuban was

I can see this principle in action from what he says about politics. In an interview with Business
Insider, he says, I don t want to be a Democrat. Until things change, I ll sit in the middle and think
for myself. Unlike the Republicans. When I was young, my mom always told me to be a leader,
not a follower. Cuban directly explains this concept from what he says. He will not believe what
everyone says just to fit in, he will tell then what he thinks. And if they won t let him join their
party because of it, so be it. Just like other great leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr and
Abraham Lincoln, he isn t afraid to say I disagree . Another way he shows that he understands
how to be a leader is in another quote from the same interview. He states, Leaders are not
dogmatic. They are principled and know that change is never easy, but when it s necessary, they
must lead. Nobody can understand principles unless they themselves are principled. Cuban also
reveals his leadership through the way he runs his companies. There are a lot of companies that
are under his authority, such as the Dallas Mavericks, AXS TV, Landmark Theatres, and
Magnolia Pictures (markcubancompanies.com). He doesn t appoint CEOs, so he himself does a
lot of work. Mark Cuban s personality is full of principles that every billionaire should have. He
is determined to make money. He uses his wealth for good instead of evil. Cuban also isn t afraid
to tell people what he thinks. Find out what your principles are. If you can t find any, maybe it is

Pilot Galavant Character
Galavant fails Sid because he is too unmotivated to teach his squire what he needs to progress. In
the beginning of the episode Pilot, Sid has to drag Galavant out of bed while he complains about
Sid saying Madalena s name. Galavant is brokenhearted and drunk instead of teaching Sid, which
hinders Sid s quest because a squire is someone in training to become a knight. Galavant s job as
Sid s mentor is to teach him everything he needs to know about knighthood. However, Galavant
occupies himself with being heartbroken because he lost the love of his life, which means that he
is not taking jobs or fulfilling knightly duties. If Sid cannot accompany Galavant on quests and

In the wedding scene of Pilot, the camera pans to Madalena multiple times as Galavant speaks.
Her facial expressions show that she is realizing she actually has options that don t include
Galavant, a sign that she lacked agency in her relationship with him. By finally being in a
position where she can use her agency instead of being spoken for by Galavant, Madalena says
what she wants to do and is not overshadowed by him. Because he continuously tried to speak for
Madalena, Galavant failed her by believing that just because he always thinks about Madalena
and loves her she will automatically come back to him like he is the only objective she has in
life. Galavant never giving Madalena a chance to speak for herself is a hindrance to her quest
for power and his own quest for self knowledge. Also in the wedding scene of Pilot, Galavant
speaks for Madalena during his monologue, which shows that even though he loves her,
Galavant is inconsiderate of the fact she is her own person and not just his lady love. As soon as
Galavant interrupts the wedding between King Richard and Madalena, he starts talking about
himself and how he is certain Madalena will choose him because she loves him as much as he
loves her. By expecting her to come back like an object that belongs to him, he is not allowing her

Drug Use And Drug Testing
Drug and polygraph Testing in determining whether companies are morally justified in using drug
testing or polygraph testing I argue that Companies are not morally justified in using drug test or
polygraph test if the confidential information is not relevant to a jobs performance. The company
should not be able to legitimately expect it or require it. normally confidential information is
irrelevant to a job s performance. the employer could not ask applicants or employees about their
drug use. The U.S Supreme Court has ruled that drug testing programs are permissible within the
public and the private sectors in the job industry. It is said that mandatory drug testing is a
permanent fi of American Corporations. By some estimates one third of American corporations
now require their employees to be tested for drug use. These requirements are compatible with
general employment law while promoting the public s interest in fighting drug use. Mandatory
drug testing is also underwritten by potent political considerations. The public is concerned about
the growing use of illegal drugs. The Supreme Court specifically noted this concern in upholding
the mandatory testing of Customs Service employees. The use of illegal narcotics, they said, is
one of the greatest problems affecting the health and welfare of our population. (National Treasury
Employees Union v. von Rabb 109 S.Ct. 1384, 1989). The public wants drug use stopped; and they

Doctrine of Foreign Policy Constructed by U.S. Presidents
There were many presidents of the United States that were able to construct doctrines during their
presidency terms in office that defined their individual foreign policy goals and/or aims. Just to
name a few there was the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, Truman Doctrine 1947 and the Reagan
Doctrine of 1984. For example, the Monroe Doctrine was constructed for two main reasons: 1)
John Adams, Secretary of State, suggested the principle that the Western hemisphere was not an
option for any further colonization by the European powers and 2) the U.S. would defend the
freedom of other nations. The Monroe Doctrine proved its power in the 1900 s when President
Roosevelt enforced the doctrine during the Venezuela Border Dispute as well as securing the
independence of Cuba from the abusive Spanish rule.
During his Presidency, The Ronald ReaganDoctrine was a foreign policy in the United States from
1980 to 1991. The doctrine was to help eliminate communist governments such as Latin America,
Africa and Asia which were supported by the Soviet Union (Lagon, 1994). The plan was to
implement support to private and open guerilla and resistance movements that were supported by
the Soviet in communist countries. Containment was the official policy towards communism and
in creating the Reagan Doctrine, the focus started from keeping communism from spreading then it
shifted to eliminating existing communist governments. In addition to the eliminations of the
communist governments, the United

Voting Rights Act of 1965 Essay
The history of gerrymandering started during the term of Elbridge Gerry, the Governor of
Massachusetts, when he approved an obscure redistricting plan ahead of the 1812 elections that
helped Republicans hold on to power in the legislature. One of the redistricted districts that
primarily consisted of a one party defendant was shaped as a salamander, which later gave rise to
this political term (Keck, 2010). The term relates to the drawing of the boundaries of electoral
districts in a way that gives one party an unfair advantage over its rivals, which gives rise to the
disproportionate representation of Democratic and Republican parties (Encyclopedia Britannica,
2013). Historically, both parties have used this form of redistricting to... Show more content on

The Supreme Court reversed the ruling and held that bipartisan gerrymanders are constitutionally
acceptable.
In Davis v. Bandemer (1986), the Supreme Court held that partisan gerrymandering violated the
Equal Protection Clause, but the court couldn t agree on the appropriate constitutional standard
against which legality claims of partisan gerrymandering should and should not be evaluated.
Justice White said that partisan gerrymandering occurred when a redistricting was enacted with the
both the intent and the effect of discriminating against an identifiable political group. Justices
Powell and Stevens said that partisan gerrymandering should be based on multiple factors, such as
electoral district shape, adherence to local government boundaries. Justices O Connor, Burger, and
Rehnquist disagreed and held that such claims should be dismissed (Issacharoff, Karlan, Pildes, pp.
777 779).
Gerrymandering is often compared to redistricting which is supposed to achieve equality in districts
voting power, so called one person, one vote requirement. In the U.S. redistricting happens every
10 years to account for changes in population, so the votes will be worth the same amount (The
James Irvine Foundation ). Gerrymandering is based on the wasting or weakening of votes of what

Journey Of A Woman From All India Women s Conference
Journey of a woman from All India Women s Conference to International Council of Women
The difference between a man and woman arises when they are socially labeled as male and
female ,thereby attaching characteristics of masculine and feminine to it.As Simone de Beauvoir
says, One is not born but rather becomes a woman. Women are always put at the lower level on
the table of social, political or economic hierarchy. So the fatherhood is a sociological fiction and
motherhood is just a biological fact. Some of the feminists have argued that the word woman itself
includes the word man which deprives the women to have their own identities exclusive of
men. Also Maya Angelou has quoted, How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our
heroes and she roes! Like all other social groups, women have also organized themselves within
groups equipped with their agenda and ideologies in order to upgrade their position in all aspects of
life.Though their have been many instances where individual groups could not bring about a
change and the strong structure of patriarchy crushed them in order to make it adjustable to the
prevalent arrangements. It is in the modern times that provided the space for fee play of women
protest aligning with other groups to alternate the arrangements. This flame of oppression turned
into a fire when different groups of women from different parts of the world protest against it.When

Genetic Engineering Negative Essay
After genes were discovered, scientists have been trying to disclose the mysteries of them. Since
genes are the basic building blocks of organism, they are extremely crucial to the development of
biological science. Genetic engineering seems to help the scientists explore the genomes. Genetic
engineering is a relatively new technology that is used to manipulate the genome of an organism.
It can be utilized to raise plants, cure diseases, create genetically modified babies, and clone living
organisms. In other words, scientists can use genomes as Lego blocks to build or change an
organism. When an innovative idea is introduced to people, two groups manifest: one that supports
the idea and one that opposes it. Recently, as the products of the technology, such as GMO food,
get increasingly more involved in human lives, people start to debate whether genetically
engineering is more beneficial or harmful. On the surface of the issue, genetic engineeringseems to
only serve benefits. However, while the development of genetic engineering can change our world
for the better, it has various negative influences on the human race in many aspects: it is harmful
toward the agricultural environment; it acts against nature; and it creates ethical problems.
Scientists must consider the disadvantages of the technology carefully, before they over develop it
to an extent that it creates irreversible harms which can impair the entire human race.

U.s. Marine Corps And The Military
After watching this film for several times, a viewpoint comes into my mind that almost all of
people are not inborn soldiers, but it s quite clear that most of them could be soldiers through a
series of training in the army. Unlike a majority of jobs in our daily lives, soldiering could be
more complicated and it needs people to take a high level of risk in the war and even some
people sacrifice their lives in order to defend their countries rights and protect citizens safety.
Therefore, many people may have formed a false concept that only specific groups of people are
suitable for selecting as soldiers. In fact, anyone s son will do it and they can do it very well. In
the end of this film, most soldiers family members express that they are proud of their sons or

contributions to the society.
The storyline of this film is about the basic training in the military. This film s scenario is about the

about how to train these young people into soldiers and killers. In the beginning of this film

Comparing The Adaptations For Nitrogenous Excretion Across...
Report Comparing the Adaptations Relating to Nitrogenous Excretion across Three Taxonomic
Groups
All organisms produce waste nitrogen products as part of their metabolism. Nitrogen is obtained
from the diet in the form of protein and nucleic acids. When a protein is ingested, the tertiary and
secondary structures of the protein are denatured. The peptide bonds are also broken, separating the
protein into individual amino acids, the basic structure of which is displayed in Fig. 1.1.
Amino acids are used to synthesise variety of functional compounds, including nucleic acids and
enzymes. However, when amino acids are obtained in the diet in excess of those needed for
synthesis of functional nitrogenous compounds, they are either catabolised as energy sources or
used as sources of carbon chains for synthesis of non nitrogenous storage compounds. When amino
acids are used as energy sources or for the synthesis of non nitrogenous compounds, the nitrogenous
component of the acid must first be removed. The amino group, NHв‚‚, is the nitrogenous
component of protein and is removed from the amino acid by a catabolic process called
deamination. This process removes the amino group from the amino acid and converts it to ammonia
(NHв‚ѓ).
The ammonia is highly toxic and must either be excreted quickly or converted to a less toxic waste
product, such as urea or uric acid, and then excreted. Organisms that excrete nitrogen as ammonia
(Fig. 1.2) are ammonotelic. Organisms that convert

King Arthur Gwaine Alternate Ending
Soft voices greeted him as he entered the Hall of Records. Gwaine wasn t sure if he d even been

walls, and red curtains surrounded the four poster bed in the Royal Chamber.
Come in, Gwaine.
During his years in Camelot, Gwaine had only been in this chamber a handful of times. Typically,
his meetings with the king took place in more formal settings, or on the training field. He couldn t

  • 2. The Significance Of The Ten Duel Commandments By Lin-Mel... It s a simple catchy song which always makes a person who knows proper dueling etiquette cringe, especially with the songs before and after adding to the heavy sense of historical inaccuracy. While the intent of the Ten Duel Commandments is to give the modern audience some knowledge on how dueling is done, Lin Mel Miranda has many things wrong within this attempt. He gives a modern viewer an incorrect assumption of the process of proper pistol dueling. The song gives a list of ten things in a specific order, a parody of the Ten Commandments, leading the listener to believe the challenge is first. This is sadly out order and very misleading. The second point is happily a bit more reliable information. You do have a second handle your negotiations, although he left out a few crucial elements. In the description of the duelitself, we have a couple of here and there discrepancies that finish making this song detrimental to the true understanding of historical duels of this era. In the song, point number one is The Challenge demands satisfaction. If they apologize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This artefact was utilised on my prac in April of 2015 with a Year 2 class. The lesson was an English lesson, covering the content of persuasive words and writing. My mentor informed me the students had previously worked on persuasive words and so I planned the lesson according to this. Students viewed the movie poster for Madagascar 3, which I chose based on their interests. I engaged the students in discussions about the target audience, text, colour, characters and how these all things contribute to persuade people to go and watch the movie. As a class we brainstormed key persuading words. Students were then asked to create their own persuasive poster about something they like and would like to persuade their peers to like. This ensured that the lesson catered for student diversity as they all have different interests and were encouraged to present them in their own creative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, a 12 year old girl has reported that she was raped by a group of 14 year old boys at a recreational center and it was reported just this morning. I believe that media is very influential in these sorts of behavior from teenage boys. Media encourages these things through vulgar music, degrading advertisements, and it promotes violence and abuse towards women and now, even little girls. Rap music in general has failed miserably in portraying the true worth of a woman. Women have a character that men cannot replace in any other way. I can say that my mother plays an important role in my life, and she stood behind my success till now. • 8. Teaching New Meanings For The Sorority Environment You quickly become what you surround yourself with. This concept was a constant reminder my mother gave me when I moved off to college. As a senior, I find this advice to hold very true when I reflect on the organizations that I have been a part of. My sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, has had the biggest influence on not only my character, but my languageas well. What first seemed like jargon has now become primary language. From learning new meanings for everyday vocabulary to different intonational patterns, my language has adapted to the environment that I have surrounded myself with for the past three years. Within a sorority, there are various terms that are held secret due to our ritual ceremonies; however, there are also numerous terms that we will use in everyday language. These terms are average words that are used throughout the day by a vast majority of the world population. However, when the words are used in the sorority environment, they take on a completely new meaning. In other words, they are semantically altered. A primary example is the transition of the words big and little from adjectives to proper nouns. Instead of defining an object s size, these terms are now used to name your big and little sister in the sorority. I remember getting asked my freshman year, Are you going to rush? I immediately thought, Rush where? As I transitioned into the Greek community, I quickly realized that the term rush changes meaning and now means going through sorority or ... Ted changes once during the story, with the help of his sister, Mary. Before this change occurred, the family always made him upset by never letting him do the things that he wants to do. They constantly watched him and told him to be careful, not letting him run or play. Mary, seeing the injustice of this, decided to do something about it. One day, when Ted and Mary got back from swimming in the creek, Louise, their mother, told Ted he mustn t. The rest of her sentence left unsaid, but nonetheless clearly understood. He mustn t do all the dangerous things he does. While Ted left out of anger, Mary stayed her ground and argued for her brother, telling Louise she should stop reminding Ted of his illness and leave him alone to do as he pleased. Her argument took Louise by surprise so much that she decides, to Ted s great joy, to give the children their freedom. When he dies at the end of the story, Mary feels he had a happy life. Don, in Mary s mind, had the hardest life of all. The conflict between Don and his father John shows another way situations in life can have control over someone. Maritime Exploration Challenges of Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Francis Drake Exploration of the oceans was very popular during the time of Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan and English explorer Sir Francis Drake. Ferdinand Magellan was a young Portuguese man who enlisted under the Spanish king before he began his expedition to go on a trip around the world on the 10th of August in 1519 ( Ferdinand 1). Ferdinand Magellan was in search of both fortune and fame, and he left Spain with 5 ships in hopes of finding a western course for the Spice Islands ( Ferdinand Magellan ). Sir Francis Drakeled the English voyage for maritime exploration, sailing off in 1577 with 5 ships to embark on a journey around South America via the Straits of Magellan ( Francis ). Both voyages and explorers were met with several challenges in which they had to quickly resolve. The first of the many issues faced by Ferdinand Magellan and his journey occurred after they were docked at the Port of St. Julian in the spring of 1520. It was during this time that three of the ships rose up against the Captain major, their captains saying that they intended to take him to Castile in arrest, as he was taking them all to destruction ( Ferdinand 2). While this mutiny was the first of his challenges, it was quickly taken care of by Ferdinand, who had one of the captains executed and another excommunicated. Although he started out his exploration with 5 ships, he sailed away from the Port of St. Julian with 4 ships after one was sent ahead and was shipwrecked due to severe weather. On October 21 of the same year, Magellan entered the straight he was looking for that would later be named after him. Two ships entered to see what was inside of the channels in the straight. From the two ships that entered, one ship, captained by Alvaro de Mesquita, entered into one of the bays which was to the south, and did not return any more ( Ferdinand 3). At this point, Magellan was down to 3 out of the 5 ships that he originally started with. He did not wait for this ship, and instead continued the journey after leaving a note in case the ship returned. Motte and bailey castles were hard work to construct and eventually evolved into impressive, more advanced fortresses. The original motte and bailey castles were incredibly cheap to construct. They were built from just earth and wood and didn t require any special design. A wooden keepcalled a motte sat on an elevated bank of soil and overlooked the bailey, an enclosed courtyard. Although some cases consisted of the motte sitting upon a hill, most of the time mottes were on a man made piece of earthwork. The relationship between the independent variable, amount of water used, and the dependent variable, the reduction of toilet paper, gives this experiment the ability to easily show the saturation of each brand of toilet paper and well as the unsaturated aspect of each brand of toilet paper. Hypothesis: The absorbency of toilet paper must be in direct relation to the quality of such said toilet paper. On the other hand, the Constitution was also opposed, but accepted as well, and it is ratified. A federal constitution was first proposed on June 12, 1176, when the Second Continental Congress called for a thirteen man committee to draw it. It became known as the articles of confederation the following November, and was turned in to the states for its approval. John Dickinson was the main contributor to the Articles of confederation. He called it a League of Friendship .The Articles took 5 years to get approved by all 13 states, and were ratified until March 1, 1781. The length taken to ratify the Articles was seen as a lack in common unity. There was complaint that states with land could use their tracts to pay money for common cause. It seemed logical that the western area be given to the central government to get rid of land for common benefit . There was a problem with landed estates, which had land west of the Appalachians, and the landless states, which boundaries were defined. The U.S Supreme Court has ruled that drug testing programs are permissible within the public and the private sectors in the job industry. It is said that mandatory drug testing is a permanent fi of American Corporations. By some estimates one third of American corporations now require their employees to be tested for drug use. These requirements are compatible with general employment law while promoting the public s interest in fighting drug use. Mandatory drug testing is also underwritten by potent political considerations. The public is concerned about the growing use of illegal drugs. The Supreme Court specifically noted this concern in upholding the mandatory testing of Customs Service employees. The use of illegal narcotics, they said, is one of the greatest problems affecting the health and welfare of our population. (National Treasury Employees Union v. von Rabb 109 S.Ct. 1384, 1989). • 30. Doctrine of Foreign Policy Constructed by U.S. Presidents There were many presidents of the United States that were able to construct doctrines during their presidency terms in office that defined their individual foreign policy goals and/or aims. Just to name a few there was the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, Truman Doctrine 1947 and the Reagan Doctrine of 1984. For example, the Monroe Doctrine was constructed for two main reasons: 1) John Adams, Secretary of State, suggested the principle that the Western hemisphere was not an option for any further colonization by the European powers and 2) the U.S. would defend the freedom of other nations. The Monroe Doctrine proved its power in the 1900 s when President Roosevelt enforced the doctrine during the Venezuela Border Dispute as well as securing the independence of Cuba from the abusive Spanish rule. During his Presidency, The Ronald ReaganDoctrine was a foreign policy in the United States from 1980 to 1991. The doctrine was to help eliminate communist governments such as Latin America, Africa and Asia which were supported by the Soviet Union (Lagon, 1994). The plan was to implement support to private and open guerilla and resistance movements that were supported by the Soviet in communist countries. Containment was the official policy towards communism and in creating the Reagan Doctrine, the focus started from keeping communism from spreading then it shifted to eliminating existing communist governments. Voting Rights Act of 1965 Essay The history of gerrymandering started during the term of Elbridge Gerry, the Governor of Massachusetts, when he approved an obscure redistricting plan ahead of the 1812 elections that helped Republicans hold on to power in the legislature. One of the redistricted districts that primarily consisted of a one party defendant was shaped as a salamander, which later gave rise to this political term (Keck, 2010). The term relates to the drawing of the boundaries of electoral districts in a way that gives one party an unfair advantage over its rivals, which gives rise to the disproportionate representation of Democratic and Republican parties (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2013). Historically, both parties have used this form of redistricting to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Supreme Court reversed the ruling and held that bipartisan gerrymanders are constitutionally acceptable. In Davis v. Bandemer (1986), the Supreme Court held that partisan gerrymandering violated the Equal Protection Clause, but the court couldn t agree on the appropriate constitutional standard against which legality claims of partisan gerrymandering should and should not be evaluated. Justice White said that partisan gerrymandering occurred when a redistricting was enacted with the both the intent and the effect of discriminating against an identifiable political group. Justices Powell and Stevens said that partisan gerrymandering should be based on multiple factors, such as electoral district shape, adherence to local government boundaries. Justices O Connor, Burger, and Rehnquist disagreed and held that such claims should be dismissed (Issacharoff, Karlan, Pildes, pp. 777 779). Gerrymandering is often compared to redistricting which is supposed to achieve equality in districts voting power, so called one person, one vote requirement. Journey Of A Woman From All India Women s Conference Journey of a woman from All India Women s Conference to International Council of Women The difference between a man and woman arises when they are socially labeled as male and female ,thereby attaching characteristics of masculine and feminine to it.As Simone de Beauvoir says, One is not born but rather becomes a woman. Women are always put at the lower level on the table of social, political or economic hierarchy. So the fatherhood is a sociological fiction and motherhood is just a biological fact. Some of the feminists have argued that the word woman itself includes the word man which deprives the women to have their own identities exclusive of men. Also Maya Angelou has quoted, How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she roes! • 34. Genetic Engineering Negative Essay After genes were discovered, scientists have been trying to disclose the mysteries of them. Since genes are the basic building blocks of organism, they are extremely crucial to the development of biological science. Genetic engineering seems to help the scientists explore the genomes. Genetic engineering is a relatively new technology that is used to manipulate the genome of an organism. It can be utilized to raise plants, cure diseases, create genetically modified babies, and clone living organisms. In other words, scientists can use genomes as Lego blocks to build or change an organism. When an innovative idea is introduced to people, two groups manifest: one that supports the idea and one that opposes it. Recently, as the products of the technology, such as GMO food, get increasingly more involved in human lives, people start to debate whether genetically engineering is more beneficial or harmful. On the surface of the issue, genetic engineeringseems to only serve benefits. However, while the development of genetic engineering can change our world for the better, it has various negative influences on the human race in many aspects: it is harmful toward the agricultural environment; it acts against nature; and it creates ethical problems. Scientists must consider the disadvantages of the technology carefully, before they over develop it to an extent that it creates irreversible harms which can impair the entire human race. Unlike a majority of jobs in our daily lives, soldiering could be more complicated and it needs people to take a high level of risk in the war and even some people sacrifice their lives in order to defend their countries rights and protect citizens safety. Therefore, many people may have formed a false concept that only specific groups of people are suitable for selecting as soldiers. In fact, anyone s son will do it and they can do it very well. In the end of this film, most soldiers family members express that they are proud of their sons or daughters. That s because their sons or daughters assume responsibility and make great contributions to the society. The storyline of this film is about the basic training in the military. • 41. Comparing The Adaptations For Nitrogenous Excretion Across... Report Comparing the Adaptations Relating to Nitrogenous Excretion across Three Taxonomic Groups All organisms produce waste nitrogen products as part of their metabolism. Nitrogen is obtained from the diet in the form of protein and nucleic acids. When a protein is ingested, the tertiary and secondary structures of the protein are denatured. The peptide bonds are also broken, separating the protein into individual amino acids, the basic structure of which is displayed in Fig. 1.1. Amino acids are used to synthesise variety of functional compounds, including nucleic acids and enzymes. However, when amino acids are obtained in the diet in excess of those needed for synthesis of functional nitrogenous compounds, they are either catabolised as energy sources or used as sources of carbon chains for synthesis of non nitrogenous storage compounds. When amino acids are used as energy sources or for the synthesis of non nitrogenous compounds, the nitrogenous component of the acid must first be removed. The amino group, NHв‚‚, is the nitrogenous component of protein and is removed from the amino acid by a catabolic process called deamination. This process removes the amino group from the amino acid and converts it to ammonia (NHв‚ѓ). The ammonia is highly toxic and must either be excreted quickly or converted to a less toxic waste product, such as urea or uric acid, and then excreted. Organisms that excrete nitrogen as ammonia (Fig. 1.2) are ammonotelic. Organisms that convert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
