Organ Donation Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of organ donation presents a multifaceted challenge that extends
beyond the mere act of putting words on paper. It requires a delicate balance between scientific
facts, ethical considerations, and emotional appeals. The difficulty lies not only in the need for
comprehensive research to understand the intricacies of organ donation but also in navigating the
ethical terrain surrounding the topic.
To create a compelling essay, one must delve into the medical aspects, exploring the process of
organ transplantation, the criteria for organ suitability, and the advancements in medical
technology that have transformed transplantation into a viable treatment option. This demands a
level of scientific literacy to accurately convey complex medical information without
oversimplifying or alienating the audience.
Moreover, addressing the ethical dimensions of organ donation adds another layer of complexity.
Balancing the potential benefits of increasing organ availability with the ethical concerns related
to consent, allocation, and the commodification of organs requires a nuanced and thoughtful
approach. Engaging with diverse perspectives and addressing potential counterarguments
enhances the essay's depth but also demands a higher level of critical thinking.
Beyond the intellectual challenges, the emotional aspect of the essay should not be overlooked.
Organ donation involves real people facing life-and-death situations, making it imperative to
strike a balance between conveying the gravity of the issue and maintaining a respectful tone.
Incorporating personal stories or testimonials may add emotional weight but also requires
sensitivity and empathy.
In summary, composing an essay on organ donation demands a comprehensive understanding of
medical concepts, a nuanced exploration of ethical considerations, and the ability to convey
complex information with both clarity and emotional resonance. Successfully navigating these
challenges results in a well-rounded essay that informs, persuades, and sparks meaningful
reflection on this critical topic.

Unit 2 Research Ethics
Research Ethics This paper discusses research ethics and steps the author must take in
order to ensure her proposed dissertation project is conducted in an ethical manner. It
includes discussions on data management and reporting, laxity and mistakes,
scientific misconduct, the Belmont report principles, institutional review board (IRB)
approval, and collaborating with a mentor. It ends with recommendations for
researchers and a conclusion on the responsibility of scientific researchers to all those
affected by their research.
Literature Review
In the pursuit of scientific knowledge, researchers often undergo professional and
personal pressures concerning their interaction with colleagues, designing their study
investigations, and presenting their study results. Committee on Science, Engineering,
and Public Policy (U.S.), National Academy of Sciences (U.S.), National Academy
of Engineering, Policy and Global Affairs and Institute of Medicine (U.S.) (2009)
wrote a guide on ethical principles to note while conducting research, According to
them, making the right decision in research is important, as failure to do this can
lead to weakened personal and professional trust, delayed knowledge advancement,
as well as wasted time and effort. In order to mitigate these threats to research,
professional principles that express generally acceptable traditions of working with
others and conducting research have been developed. In his book on behavioral
research, Cozby and Scott (2012)
Research Paper On Columbine Shooting
I thought that the massacre at columbine high school was a horrible thing to
happen. i think it could have been easily prevented if someone would have just
talked to them about it and how they could fix their social problems. Dylan and Eric

could think to do. then only thing that they thought would end the pain. to me it

Benefits Of Veganism And Vegetarianism
Veganism and Vegetarianism
Veganism and vegetarianism are widespread trends that have been gaining attention
rapidly all around the world. For some people, they are only a diet. On the other hand,
for others, they are a lifestyle. Veganism and Vegetarianism are both diverse diets that
can affect the human body and environment in different ways. Veganismis a lifestyle
that excludes any use of animal products, such as meats, dairy, leather, etc. The main
purpose of veganism is to not support animal exploitation, thus not support animal
cruelty. However, many people can also turn to veganism as a diet. Veganism proves
to be beneficial for what a substantial amount of people desire, weight loss. Weight
loss is usually greater on a vegan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These causes are discussed in detail as follows; Agriculture; One of the biggest
drivers of deforestation is agriculture.
Few vegans believe that everyone should become vegan to help cure the world in
ways where we do not have to promote acts such as deforestation, and do not have to
continue killing animals for our own desires. However, the majority of vegans are
satisfied with their own actions, knowing that they can make a difference on their
own. On the contrary, vegetarianism is a not as strict of a diet as veganism, much
less a lifestyle. Many vegetarians choose this lifestyle because they are attempting to
fix their health, want to take part in saving animals, or simply do not like the taste of
meat. In a way, vegetarianism is a healthier diet than veganism, even though
vegetarians wouldn t be losing pounds quite as fast. Vegetarians are least likely to
become nutrient deficient, which is a problem with veganism. Because veganism is
so strict, it is hard to chose the right substitutes to eat in order to get all the nutrients
you need. On the other hand, vegetarians are
The Effect Of Gamma Ray Irradiation On Sludge
Settleability
3. Results and discussion 3.1. Physical characteristics 3.1.1. Effect of gamma ray
irradiation on sludge settleability In static sedimentation tests, a distinct
sedimentation interface between the supernatant and sludge was observed for all
samples with different irradiation doses, whereas the expected rapid improvement
of the irradiated sedimentation rate was not observed (Fig. 1). These trends agreed
with the results of Meeroff et al (2004). According to the sedimentation curves,
there are two periods during static sedimentation process: (1) the initial hindered
settling period, in which the interface between the supernatant and sludge
decreases at a constant velocity (u0) relying on the sludge concentration; (2) the
succedent sludge compression period, in which the settling velocity of the
interface gradually declines (Wu et al., 2009; Iritani et al., 2015). For the untreated
sludge, u0 is 10.36 mmВ·hв€’1 and SV720 is 37.1%, as shown in Fig. 2. For
irradiated sludge, the sedimentation velocity was slightly increased to 11.55
mmВ·h 1 at doses up to 15 kGy. SV was continuously decreased with the increasing
dose and a 19.4% reduction rate was achieved at 15 kGy. According to the Stokes
Law, the observed changes in u0 and SV were probably due to particle size decrease
and sludge density increase after irradiation (Yu et al., 2010). In addition, a portion of
solid matter was dissolved by irradiation, which could promote SV decrease. The
improved settleability demonstrated that
Qantas Airways Essay
Qantas Airways Limited is an Australian flag career company where it earns most
part of revenue from providing air transport services. The airline has widespread
domestic and international airline network, which combines services of Qantas,
Jetstar and regional network operator QantasLink. The industry also provides services
across a network in Australia, the United States, the Asia Pacific region, South
America, Africa and Europe. QantasAirways Ltd. was found in November 1920 under
the name Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited (QANTAS).
Qantas s customers have an access to the hundreds of destination and airport lounges
across the world. This Oneworld Alliance supports Qantas domestic activities as it
enhances the company s exposure to international travellers, who often transfer to
domestic flights at major Australian airports.

International travel to Australia measures the number of short term international
travellers arriving in Australia. Most of these travellers travel to Australia by air due
to the country s geographical isolation. As such, an increase in international travel to
Australia tends to increase demand for international air travel. In 2015 16, ... Show

Rudyard Kipling Research Paper
Rudyard Kipling is a well known short story author mostly from the book he
published called The Jungle Book which contained many little side tales, along
with many other enjoyable short stories. Kipling was born on December 30, 1865
in Bombay, India where he grew up with his mother, father, and younger sister. At
the age of six, Kipling s mother wanted him to have a formal British education and
decided to send him off to a boarding school all the way in England. This devastated
Rudyard and his love for his mother. He was setup to live with a foster family while
he was there studying at the formal boarding school. Over the years his foster
mother was very brutal with their foster kids and for some reason disliked him more
than others. She would beat and bully Kipling day and... Show more content on

This impacted him more than normal because he was also having a hard time
fitting in at school. Later, in a following December, he snuck off to the city of
London where he stayed with some relatives that decided to stay behind and not
travel to India. He devoted his time to reading and writing along with his few
friends. One day when Kipling wasn t doing well, someone walked by and saw his
condition and immediately got someone to contact his mother, who eventually
came and picked him up from London and took him back home to India to relax
and calm his mind. After he returned to India and continued his years in reading
and writing, his parents one day told him that they would not be able to afford to
sent him to college. Kipling was disappointed but later got a job writing for a local
newspaper where he began his career of successful short stories. After his amazing
career as a writer, Kipling had surgery for a haemorrhage inside his small intestine.
He then died a week later after the
The Battle of Algiers and The Algerian Insurgency Essay
French Algeria is now called Algeria and won its independence from its colonial
power, France. The two political communities in French Algeria were the French
citizens and the Algerian people. The Algerian people were under French rule for
over one hundred years from 1830 to 1962 when they were given their independence
and recognized by France. The events of November 1, 1954, marked the birth of the
National Liberation Front (FLN) (Cherian). The Muslim population is the part of the
population that felt isolated and they wanted more political autonomy. The Muslim
population formed a secessionist insurgencybecause they wanted to break away from
the ruling party to create their own country or nation away from French occupation
and control.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was their targets for the start of the insurgency on November 1st.They would
walk up shoot the policeman in the head or shoot him in the chest and double tap
in the head to insure that the officer was killed. The FLN had to change tactics
when the French military became involved especially when they were on strike to
gain UN approval for an Algerian nation free from France but the French Army
forced them to their jobs and work. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints
between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian
people were housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and
burned killing their family members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs
to attack the French civilians at local areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance
club. They also started to attack the military when threatened and hid weapons in the
French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French civilians were also
tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian children
whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling
and kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety.
The Algerian insurgency used the strategy that Mao developed and perfected but
every nation or country has to tailor their strategy based on the cultural and ethnic
traditions and background. The
Discrimination And Harassment Against Women
Throughout the 20th century, women were often seen as eye candies and
mannequins at work, and in many cases, they even encounter sexual molestation.
Discrimination and harassment against women is still prevalent in the workplace.
During the 2013 fiscal year, Courts enforced 7,256 charges of sexual harassment,
out of which, women comprised 82.6 % of victims, while there were 27,687 cases of
genderdiscrimination. Our era has seen new conventions and legal philosophies,
which are steering towards female emancipation. Courts have passed laws such as
Title VII, of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination
based on race, color, religious belief, gender, or national origin of the person. These
laws empower women and aim to forestall them from facing any discrimination or
hostility at work. Civil rights provide protection to women, but it fails to provide the
sense of equality that women deserve. During the 20th century, our society has
envisioned a vast movement for Equal Right Amendment (ERA). The ERA was a
proposed amendment to the United States Constitution, which guaranteed equality
between human races and women, under law. The bill failed in 1982, when it did not
receive enough state votes for the confirmation. To a historian, North Country can
present insight about gender inequality in the late 20th century. It also sheds light on
the historical issues which stand to influence our times, by leading to the conception
of new laws and

The Crested Gecko
The New Caledonian Crested Gecko is one of the most sought out reptiles in the
herptoculture hobby today. This medium sized gecko has all the qualities of what to
expect of a pet lizard. They combine their sheer beauty and low maintenance and
docile tempers, making it an all around great pet to own (Rhacodactylus, p. 16). In the
herpetological society, the crested gecko s popularity has grown above hobbyist, into
the hands of many first time pet owners, giving a first time experience made easy.

In my experience, holding these animals are not a challenge, making them easy to
hand train by holding them three times a week for a few minutes at a time. They
do, however have the tendency to leap like frogs so I would recommend letting
them leap from hand to hand. The benefit of owning an animal of this size is also
the enclosure they are kept in. According to De vosjoli, Fast, and Repashy (2003)
Baby crested geckos can be kept in small plastic keepers until they reach juvenile
size, which is about five inches (p. 19). I recently purchased a juvenile crested
gecko, and its habitat is a medium sized terrarium, where it will live throughout its
life span. In observing my daughters interaction with her crested gecko, it is clear
that he is a manageable size and is not skirmish giving her an enjoyable experience
with her new pet. While the crested gecko s size makes them easy to handle, the
care for crested geckos becomes easier and less expensive with little or no special
lighting and heating needed.
Heating and lighting are not necessary for crested geckos, keeping the cost of the
supplies down, as well as the cost of electricity. According to Caponetto (2013)
crested geckos are one of very few reptile species that thrive in virtually the same
temperature range that humans also find comfortable (Ciliatus.com). Since our
family has owned this gecko our family has not
Analysis Of Wally Obermeyer ( Head Of Obermeyer
Question One
Wally Obermeyer (head of Obermeyer, a leading manufacturer of skiwear) wanted
to discover a way of determining the best levels of production in order to make
production commitments for the upcoming 1993 1994 season. So far, predicting
production has been difficult for Wally, as the first more concrete signals of
demand do not appear until Obermeyer participates in a trade shoe in Las Vegas, not
long before production is due to begin. The products also face a short life cycle and
are only ordered once a season. Therefore determining the correct quantities based on
the most accurate estimates of demand are necessary, Furthermore, the company s

Question Two
In order to help Wally decide which product lines to manufacture in either Hong Kong
or China, a measure of risk needs to be undertaken for all 10 product lines based on
average forecasted demand.
In order to determine what items should be produced where, a risk assessment was
conducted for all lines per the average forecast for each line. The Coefficient of
Variation (CV) was determined in order to analyse the risk associated with each line,
due to fluctuations in demand.
The CV for each parka was derived using the following formula: CV = standard
deviation/average forecasted demand. The CVs for each product line can be seen
below in Table 2.1
Table 2.1 Risk assessment for each product line
Lastly, so as to determine which lines had more associated risk, it has been decided
that any line with a CV of under 0.2 was low risk, and therefore less subject to
fluctuations in demand. Those lines are Assault, Seduced, Entice, Electra, and Gail.
Those lines with a CV of over 0.2 were considered high risk. Those product lines
were Daphne, Isis, Anita, Teri and Stephanie.
Question Three
For Wally to decide what product lines to create in which country, he must calculate
the production commitments for the plant in China. The minimum production
requirement for China is 1,200 units per line, double that of the Hong Kong plant. At
the China plant, there is
Inevitable Fate In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
One s character and actions leads to their downfall, an inevitable fate. William
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is a story about teenagers who fall in love, despite
that their families despise each other. In the end, the two lovers kill themselves for
each other. Their lives seem to revolve around fate and that they were destined to
meet each other, and die. Through the romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet,
Shakespeare shows fate is inevitable through foreshadowing and the actions of
characters. Shakespeare first shows this theme through foreshadowing in the
prologue. The prologue of Romeo and Juliet summarizes the play to the audience, so
there is a sense of dramatic irony. It addresses the deaths of Romeo and Juliet and the
conflict between... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote is important because it mentions destiny and sets the structure of the
play. Romeo and Juliet are described here as star crossed lovers. They are lovers
whose destinies are to fall in love and eventually die. The prologue seems to be a
written summary of the doomed destiny of Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the
whole play, Romeo and Juliet, in defiance of their attempts to change their destiny,
end up following their fate described in the prologue. The fate of these two
teenagers is written in the prologue, in the very beginning of the play. Following
the prologue comes the story of Romeo and Juliet, who go to great extents to stay
together. No matter what choices they make, they are moving along the structure of
the play mentioned in the prologue the whole time. The audience may hope that
Romeo and Juliet defy destiny or what was learned from the prologue, but the two
lovers cannot avoid their end. In another example of fate being shown in
foreshadowing, Romeo talks of a dream he had before he goes to Capulet s party. I
fear too early, for my mind misgives, some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall
bitterly begin his fearful date, with this night s

Toxoplasma gondii, Joan Ng Kiat Yee: BM304 revision guide 2015
The physiology, metabolism, biochemistry
Toxoplsama gondii is an intracellular apicomplexan parasite that forms cyst
coccidian in warm blooded animals, primarily in the Felida domestic cats (Shannon
et al., 2015). The organism also causes a wide range of diseases in different
intermediate hosts, ranging from animals, such as mammals and birds to human
(Astrid et al., 2000). In human, this parasite poses serious threat by causing a disease
called Toxoplasmosis (Parasites, 2015).
The parasite exits through the faeces of cats. Within the cat s intestinal epithelium, T.
gondii parasite undergoes gametogenesis and mating. This leads to the generation of
oocysts containing sporozoites that are the shed in the cat s faeces, which could
readily infect new host cells (Joanne et al., 2013).

Controversy Regarding Cannabis-Related Legislations in
Canada
There is presently much controversy regarding Cannabis related legislations in
Canada, as while there is a great deal of individuals supporting conditions in the
present, there are also numerous people who are against contemporary laws. It is
presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in Canada, but the authorities allow cannabis
to be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in Canada believe that cannabis
should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward
the belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance
should not be illegal. Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that
legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe to assume that the government should
express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering that more than half of
Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug.
Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact
that this substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal
is proof that the authorities directly discriminate them on account of their substance
orientation.
Canada has a history in debating the use of cannabis and the circumstances when it
can be beneficial for the consumer and for society as a whole. The Canadian federal
government encourages protection for ill Canadians with degenerative health
diseases (Jacob 2009, 210). The federal government considers that the
Unavoidability Of Self-Driving Cars
The positive impacts of advancements in modern technology are undeniable in our
lives, but with the new technology comes new dangers. One of these new dangers is
the inevitability of self driving cars. With companies such as Tesla already having
cars in production with an autopilot feature, it will not be long before other
automotive companies join the new trend. Although these self drivingcars have a
multitude of sensors and cameras to keep you safe will driving how would these
cars react in the instance where an accident is unavoidable? In the situation where an
accident is unavoidable, and no matter the choice that is made death is imminent, the

In the instance where death is imminent, the developers for the avoidance
patterning would need to have sensors in the car that can read different object to
determine the collision that would have the lowest mortality rate. Even if it means
sacrificing the occupant of the car to save the lives of many others. When the
collision and death are unavoidable, the developers for the avoidance patterning of
the self driving cars would need to develop sensors and cameras that can detect and
differentiate between cars and humans. Also, they would need to be able to scan
the situation and process its surroundings to make the safest choice possible in any
given scenario. If this means putting the driver into the risk to save the lives of
many others that could be put in danger trying to save the life of just the cars
occupant. The car must be able to determine the situation that would end with the
lowest mortality rate, this would mean in urban areas it could mean collisions
with parked cars potentially risking the driver s life if it means saving the
pedestrians on the sidewalk. Although both outcomes in this scenario would bring
about large amounts of pain and sadness, Mill would argue that the avoidance
patterning would have to make the choice that would minimize the pain caused by
the accident, and in this case that would be risking the lives of the occupants of the
car to save the lives of multiple pedestrians. In this case, it is hard to find any
happiness to see which action would be deemed as right, but the happiness of all the
pedestrians and their families would receive from being able to live another day
would outweigh the happiness received by just saving the
NCIS Addicts Essay
NCIS viewers are an extraordinary loyal and passionate group of fans of the CBS
show. They aren t your typical everyday fans. In fact, after talking to many fans at

a very good way). Some fans even love the term NCIS addict because it sets them
apart from other TV show fans. So what exactly is an NCIS addict? The term
addict in this case is used loosely. It might be a gesture of extreme love for the

Critical Analysis Of Charles DickensOliver Twist
Critical Analysis Just like anyone else who reads a book, opinions are going to
form, and not all of them are going to be on the same page. Readers form different
opinions and views based on how they interpret the meaning of the novel. Many
critics have analyzed Charles Dickens Oliver Twist. Albert Borowitz and Kelly
Winters are two well known writers who wrote long critiques that analyzed the work
of Charles Dickens.
Crime writer Albert Borowitz believes that Charles Dickens uses the narrative of
Oliver s fall to serve his reformist purposes of attacking England s harsh, poor laws
and illustrating [in] the thesis that city slums could breed crime even in the most
innocent people (Borowitz). I absolutely agree with Borowitz. In the beginning,
the reader just assumes the Oliver just has terrible luck and that all of these
terrible events are happening to him out of misfortune. Oliver is portrayed as a
poor and innocent boy who is just being used by other people who have selfish
intentions. Later on, the bystanders realize that he was really the hardened little
wretch he was described to be by people (Dickens). Comparing the beginning of the
novel to the end of the novel, Oliver has transformed from an innocent and young
boy into a criminal in which he only speaks lies. Dickens has managed to attack
England s laws and changed Oliver s character from an innocent orphan into a
criminal. Jhaveri 4
Later on in the article, Borowitz also states that Dickens has

Fear Of Clowns In Pop Culture
Riding a fear of clowns through clowning
Clowns have been present in almost every culture for over X years; often being
used to say what is needed to be said or to tear down misunderstood ideas. The nature
of clown is to act as a social commentary while still remaining grounded in what
makes humans human. It is because of their nature in connecting to their emotions
and saying what is socially unacceptable that coulrophobia or the fear of clowns has
become a growing and relatively new problem. Mostly mediated by the portrayal of
clowns in pop culture, this phobia ranges from young children to fully grown adults.
For some people, the image of a clown or even just the red nose of a clown is
enough to bring them to tears while for others clowns are merely uncomfortable to
be around. Generally, clowns are easy to avoid on a daily basis but for those who are

Clowns are known to play the fool but they also serve to project society s illusions,
repressed longings, or the socially unacceptable side of humanity. Without the
clown to project these socially unacceptable values addressing them would be
uncomfortable. The mask of the clown does little to make a person with
coulrophobia feel comfortable and as a result, they are even further perturbed by the
content being addressed. It is possible that there is an underlying portion to the fear
of clowns where the two parts, clown, and content, are part of each other and cannot
be separated. This may have further implications through the current media portrayal
of clowns. Since clowns are seen as being creepy, dishonest, and killers in the media
they create a forced commentary on death and murder without making the content
feel safe. This lack of safety moves to further perpetrate the removal of innocence
from a clown and promoting the bastardized killer clown
Taliban And The Taliban From Afghanistan
The Taliban is an extremist Islamic group highly emphasizing a strong interpretation
of sharia law that arose in the early 1990s after the withdrawal of Soviet troops from
Afghanistan. Referencing the BBC article, a common belief holds that the Taliban
first emerged in religious seminaries that preached a hard line of Sunni Islam. The
Talibans promise to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the surrounding area was to restore
peace and security using their interpretation of the sharialaw once they were in power
( Who Are the Taliban? ). Along with the many new policies and regulations of
society, there arose a new interpretation of the role of women in society. Women
became very restricted and had to live in a way that was extremely submissive to
men to the point where it was almost dehumanizing, as many would argue.
Although the Taliban has been out of control in Afghanistan since December of
2001, remnants of their oppression towards women remain. In this paper, I will
demonstrate the Taliban s remaining effects in Afghan society regarding many
aspects of everyday life, such as the workforce, education, healthcare, and human
rights. To begin, I will give a brief overview of how Afghan women participated in
society before the Taliban came to power. I will then provide information and
examples that shed light on women s life during Taliban rule. In the final section of
this paper, I will describe how the lifestyle of women has changed as a result of the
Taliban s oppressive laws and
Predicament of Climbers Simpson and Yates in Touching
the...
Many members of the climbing community believe that Yates should not have cut
the rope and that he should have held on for longer to give Simpson every chance to
work out a solution to his predicament. However, I believe there is evidence that
suggests Yates was justified by cutting the rope. This evidence is such as the fact that
if Simpson had been left hangingany longer he would have died anyway, there was
no line of contact between Yates and Simpson, and if Yates had of waited any longer
he would have died as well.
If Simpson had been hanging any longer, he would have died anyway. In the film
Touching the Void (2003) Simpson tells us I was just there, and this went on for
maybe an hour and a half this suggests that Yates did give Simpson time to get out
of his situation. An hour is a long time sit in melting snow. If Yates had of waited
any longer Simpson would have died from the lack of fluids or hypothermia. In the
film Simpson states there was nothing I could do, so I just hung on the rope and
waited to die therefore he had enough time to try everything he could to get out of

Informative Essay On Sexual Predators
Sexual Predators
The advancement in technology has opened many venues for child predators. To
the law abiding citizens, the technology helps us in our everyday work, life, and
keeping up with the family. However, these advancements are a haven for sex
offenders, which have opened up a completely new availability of victims. This
technology has made child victims more susceptible to the trolling sex offenders. In
the last decade, more forms of social media have surfaced and younger adolescents
are joining these sites. Most children are unaware of the dangers. Aside from the
social media sites, chat rooms have become a craze for not only young adolescents
but also pre teens, teens, young adults and even mature adults. In light of all these

First, some parents are not anywhere near technologically savvy as their children,
getting them training on the latest social media sites, websites, chat rooms and how
to access them and utilize them properly is crucial. Teaching them the terms used
by their children, so they can understand the messages their children are sending so
they can look for clues of a problem. Knowledge is power, the more they know the
better they can check on what exactly their children are doing. The other side of my
presentation would include both the children as well as the parents to make them
more aware of the characteristics of a sex offender. I would inform them of their
techniques to gain trust and remind them that the offenders are more likely than not
using fake pictures and information. I would insist on only befriend people they
know in the real world, and be careful of the information they post about themselves
as well as photographs. I would advise parents to install parental control software to
monitor all of their child s internet activity and to check it daily. Lastly, I would
inform both the child and the parent that they can never take too many precautions
when it comes to who the child speaks to, exchanges information with and whom
they interact with. No one is truly too safe when it comes to the World Wide Web,
everyone including adults need to watch what they post about their lives including
their children. As parents we are proud of our children and want to post their
accomplishments and photos on the web, however, in that case, the parent is just

Improvement of technology and its use has been the foundation for American
economics. Although such innovation does create jobs, customs, and cultures that
contribute to the American lifestyle, it can also create pollution that harms the
environment and brings about environmental injustice. People focus on outcome
effects of a certain project. Whether its main goal is for economic gains, to help
improve the way American people live, or even if it is harming the ecosystem in
any way, they will intervene. However, what people don t pay attention to is the
tool that is being used to accomplish such goals that can produce complications as it
relates to the environment and injustice that comes with the utilization of
technology. This creates a selective exposure mentality in the sense that if the tool
being used has been here before the person was born or even if the tool is used to
support daily activities within the American household and lifestyle, then in no way
should it be harmful to humans or the environment. There must be a different way in
which American citizens can identify such potential dangers so that disaster can be
avoided. One approach is to have professionals in the related field expose such
technologies that people believe are helping them but instead are causing damage to
the environment. As a previous low voltage linemen with seven years of experience,

Basic Responsibilities of Non Profit Board of Director
Abstract
As world business has changed dramatically during recent years, chargers of business

enhance their competence within an excellent environment. To fulfill the
requirement, the National Center for Non Profit Board has issued a paper on Ten
Basic Responsibilities of Non Profit Boards to clarify the roles and responsibility of
the board about 30 years ago. This regulation paper requires ten basic responsibilities
including Determine the organization, Select the executive director, Support the
executive and review his/her performance, Ensure effective organizational planning,
Monitor and strengthen programs and services, Ensure adequate resources, Protect
assets and provide financial oversight, Build a competent board, Enhance the
organization s public standing and Ensure legal and ethical integrity (Richard T.

A Board of directors, in my opinion, is a body of one person or a group of people
who should oversee the performance of a organization. The goal of Board of

Port scans are another tool used by hackers to break a network. Attackers use port
scanning to discover services they can break into because machines that are
connected to a Local Area Network or Internet run many services that listen at well
known ports. The general objective of a port scan is to map out the system s
operating system and the applications and services it is running. A hacker can then
test for vulnerabilities within the applications and plan an attack ( Port Scanning,
n.d.). Port scanners are software that identify which ports and services are open on
an Internet connected device ( How to protect against port scans, n.d.). The scanner
sends a connection request to the target computer on all 65536 ports, and records
which ports respond and how. The type of response received indicates whether the
port is in use. I use this software to verify the security policies of the network, as well
as network inventory, managing service upgrade schedules, and monitoring host or
service uptime. Our network currently has a network intrusion detection system
(NIDS) which inspects all inbound and outbound network activity and identifies
suspicious patterns that may indicate a network or system attack from someone
attempting to break into or compromise the system. The NIDS will document all
attempted attacks in a log and will also send an alert to the console regarding
Essay about Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon
In traditional hard boiled American detective fiction there are many themes that seem
to transcend all novels. One of those themes is the concept of power and the role in
which it plays in the interaction and development of characters. More specifically, the
role of women within the novels can be scrutinized to better understand the power
they hold over the other characters, their own lives and the direction of the story.
Dashiell Hammetts The Maltese Falcon exemplifies the varying ways in which female
characters attempt to obtain and utilize power in hopes of influencing, manipulating
and succeeding.
The most prominent female character in the novel, Brigid O Shaughnessy, employs
her sexuality, secrecy and mysterious nature when trying ... Show more content on

The inability of Brigid O Shaughnessy to attain and maintain power is symbolic of the
generalized role of women throughout the novel.
Similar to O Shaughnessy, the character Iva Archer also exemplifies the struggle
of women to get power in the masculine and testosterone driven world of hard
boiled fiction. However, Archer is very unsuccessful in her attempts because, since
she is such a flat character, all her control must be derived from her sexual nature.
She was a blond woman of a few years more than thirty. Her facial prettiness was
perhaps five years past its best moment. Her body for all its sturdiness was finely

is able to get some basics that she desires; nevertheless, Archer s inability to use her
sexuality effectively depletes her power later on in the novel. I know I haven t. I

Pros And Cons Of Overpopulation
Growing advances in technology with each coming year has affected humanity in
many ways. Technology has given us the ability to save lives and create better
medical treatment for all. A direct result of this has been increased lifespan and the
growth of the population. In the past fifty or so years, the growth of populationhas
increased rapidly and has turned into overpopulation. Developing countries face the
problem of overpopulation more than developed countries, but it affects most of the
Earth as of now. World populationgrowth is causing many alarming problems. The
population will continue growing in some parts of the world whilst others stabilize,

the country in times of war and any other emergencies.
Food Crises:
Due to growing population, we are now facing the problem of shortage of food.
The current global food crisis is due to high food prices that are caused by poor
growing conditions and the rising costs of fuel.
A Decrease in the Standard of Living:
Overpopulation leads to a fall in the standard of living. As a result of increased
number of people, demand for essential products is becoming highly competitive and
it is those that are rich that would be able to afford them, thereby bringing a fall in
the standard of living.
Social Problems:

The Mayor Of Casterbridge Essay
Often, there are cases where an individual or a group of individuals reaches a level of
success within their field. Some may be elected to a government position, and some
may start companies that thrive financially. However, the companies and individuals
that fail are the ones that are unable to maintain the initial success and reputation that
they had. In The Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardyweaves this idea throughout
the events and symbols that make up this story about the rise and fall of a man
named Michael Henchard. The novel utilizes the actions of Henchard and others
alongside dynamics and traditions within the town to convey the theme that success
and reputation are not guaranteed to last, rgtc once they are earned. Hardy uses the
repercussions of Henchard s manipulation of others, the stone bridge at the edge of
town, and the power structure in Casterbridge to argue that success and reputation
are not ensured for life when they are earned, and that they must be constantly
maintained and improved. Throughout many fields such as business and politics,
manipulation plays a key role in establishing positions of power and superiority for
individuals who want to be at the top of their field. However, manipulating
individuals or groups of people can also result in repercussions that could strip that
power from whoever gained it. As Henchard became the mayor of Casterbridge, he
manipulated people in order to assert his dominance over them, and utilize the power

The Importance Of Psychology As A Scientific Study Of A...
Psychology enables us to better understand, explain and predict human behaviour,
emotions and mental processes therefore defining psychology as the scientific study
of behaviour. Psychologists seek to collect data through observations, laboratory
experiments, thematic analysis etc which enables researchers to gain knowledge
about our behaviour and to make appropriate conclusions. This essay will seek to
evaluate how psychologyhas become scientific over time, in particular looking at
how psychology was scientific during the 1870 s and in present time. The major
psychologists relevant to this essay are Wunt, James, Pavlov, Piaget and Baddeley
focusing on their role to making psychology a science. Finally, this essay will also
seek to describe Newton s influence on psychology.
Wundt (1832 1920) was the first psychologist to develop psychology into a science
by creating the first research laboratory of experimental psychology. Therefore this
enabled Wundt to establish psychology as a separate science using scientific
approaches to study the structure of sensation and perception as well as questioning
sensory information and how this gives rise to complex perceptions . Whilst naming
his approach structuralism, his work was criticised for his reliance on retrospection
his laboratory work would not be considered true experiments by present day
standards due to the fact that the observers were taught to engage in introspection .

The Epistolary Literary Form Of Pamela By Samuel

Pamela by Samuel Richardson is a famous 18th century novel which arguably
popularizes the epistolary literary form. Presenting Pamela Andrews as a young
maidservant, she undergoes a series of trials in which she defends her virtue from
Mr. B. to later reforming him and getting married. While it does present the
narrative of the reformation of a potential rake, the romance between two characters
of different social classes and the eventual social climbing to achieve a happy
ending, the real interest is in the literary form. The main character writes in letters
and, later, in journal entries, recounting the experiences she s undergone to her
parents (and to the reader). The person who reads Pamela is enthralled into a
narrative due to the feeling of secrecy. Richardson uses the epistolary form to allow

I Am Number Four Comparison Essay
What would you do if extraterrestrial life came to Earth, running for their lives and
trying to get home? This is a question posed in many Science fiction films, books, and

Race to Witch Mountain by Andy Fickman. These two texts show contrasting
outcomes of what humankind s response to the unknown may be. The creators of
these two texts display the influence of stereotypes, fears which humankind holds,

Pittacus Lore uses qualities defined as human and of living creatures on Earth to
highlight the likeness between the Loric people and humankind. Emotions are
something only humans and intelligent forms of life are thought to experience. They
are incredibly intimate, and the use of first person perspective makes the reader

All dramatic play is make believe. That being said, it can be quite nerve wracking for
some kids to go through all the personnel, inspections and long lines. As a solution,
inform and educate them in advance on what s expected of them at the airport and
discuss the environment if they re old enough to understand. You can practice by role
playing beforehand so they won t get overwhelmed with all the procedures and pre
boarding requirements. Organize their personal belongings, making sure they aren t
wearing any belts and don t have other metal objects with them that might attract TSA

The First Time A Girl
The first time a girl gets her period is a defining moment in her life. It marks
significant biological changes in her body and means she is now able to conceive a
child. Each month when you get your period, also known as menstruation, your body
sheds the lining of the uterus. The menstrual blood flows through the cervix and out
of the body through the vagina. A typical period lasts anywhere from 3 to 7 days.
Here are some important things to know about your periods, for both young women
just learning about menstruation and those who are experiencing changes in their
typical cycle. пїј Why You Get Your Periods Every month, an egg begins to grow in
one of your ovaries. After it is fully developed, it leaves the ovary and travels to the...

Some might not even notice they are bleeding more than they usually do in a
particular cycle, and they are using more sanitary products than they normally
would. Some women s periods may last longer than the typical 3 to 7 days, but
they may discount the importance of that as well. However, heavy bleeding during
periods and cycles that stretch beyond 7 or 8 days might be indicative of a fibroid
growth. A fibroid is a noncancerous, fibrous and muscular growth that appears in or
around the uterus. Heavy and prolonged bleeding is the most commonly reported
symptom among women suffering from fibroids, according to a 2014 study
published in The International Journal of Women s Health. Occasionally, you may
also notice the presence of blood clots in your menstrual flow. This, too, can be a
sign of fibroids. пїј Excessive Menstrual Pain may Indicate Endometriosis Abdominal
pain and cramps are common complaints during period cycles when the uterine wall
is shedding itself. During periods, the endometrium produces prostaglandin, a
hormone that induces inflammation and pain. However, severely debilitating pain in
the lower abdominal region and pelvic area that affects your ability to carry out daily
activities in a major way can be indicative of endometriosis. Endometriosis is an
inflammatory disorder in which the uterine tissue, that is typically supposed to grow
and stay inside the uterus, grows outside the uterus. This tissue also forms the uterine

Supply Of Good Quality Electrical Power
The customer must be satisfied that a solution to his problem is found getting a
secure, safe and continuous supply of good quality electrical power. The main
concerns related to the supplied power were: that voltage levels were too low and
variations too high (i.e. not within В±5% tolerance), regular powerfailures, and phase
reversal issues on certain days. To address these concerns the initial plan was to
determine if the claims made by the customer were true and then find ways in which
to first address it without the least inconvenience to the customer. I sat down with
the Head of Network and Plant Performance and worked out that I needed to arrange
for: Voltage levels to be measured and adjusted it if possible (by adjusting tap
positions on transformers, switching in of Capacitor banks or voltage regulators),
remove unnecessary loading on supply feeders to the Taung Substation and
reconfigure the networkwhere possible to provide alternative paths for load to flow,
measure the three phase load balance and reconfigure connected loads to provide an
even spread of loads across the three phases. If these actions couldn t resolve the
problems then proceed with recruiting a team of subject matter experts to conduct
more detailed investigation to ascertain the physical condition of the Taung Village
11kV feeder, then verify and record what hardware was used in the construction of
the feeder and also the standard to which the structures were build and the hardware
used.

Organ Donation Essay

  • 1. Organ Donation Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of organ donation presents a multifaceted challenge that extends beyond the mere act of putting words on paper. It requires a delicate balance between scientific facts, ethical considerations, and emotional appeals. The difficulty lies not only in the need for comprehensive research to understand the intricacies of organ donation but also in navigating the ethical terrain surrounding the topic. To create a compelling essay, one must delve into the medical aspects, exploring the process of organ transplantation, the criteria for organ suitability, and the advancements in medical technology that have transformed transplantation into a viable treatment option. This demands a level of scientific literacy to accurately convey complex medical information without oversimplifying or alienating the audience. Moreover, addressing the ethical dimensions of organ donation adds another layer of complexity. Balancing the potential benefits of increasing organ availability with the ethical concerns related to consent, allocation, and the commodification of organs requires a nuanced and thoughtful approach. Engaging with diverse perspectives and addressing potential counterarguments enhances the essay's depth but also demands a higher level of critical thinking. Beyond the intellectual challenges, the emotional aspect of the essay should not be overlooked. Organ donation involves real people facing life-and-death situations, making it imperative to strike a balance between conveying the gravity of the issue and maintaining a respectful tone. Incorporating personal stories or testimonials may add emotional weight but also requires sensitivity and empathy. In summary, composing an essay on organ donation demands a comprehensive understanding of medical concepts, a nuanced exploration of ethical considerations, and the ability to convey complex information with both clarity and emotional resonance. Successfully navigating these challenges results in a well-rounded essay that informs, persuades, and sparks meaningful reflection on this critical topic. • 2. Unit 2 Research Ethics Research Ethics This paper discusses research ethics and steps the author must take in order to ensure her proposed dissertation project is conducted in an ethical manner. It includes discussions on data management and reporting, laxity and mistakes, scientific misconduct, the Belmont report principles, institutional review board (IRB) approval, and collaborating with a mentor. It ends with recommendations for researchers and a conclusion on the responsibility of scientific researchers to all those affected by their research. Literature Review In the pursuit of scientific knowledge, researchers often undergo professional and personal pressures concerning their interaction with colleagues, designing their study investigations, and presenting their study results. Committee on Science, Engineering, and Public Policy (U.S.), National Academy of Sciences (U.S.), National Academy of Engineering, Policy and Global Affairs and Institute of Medicine (U.S.) (2009) wrote a guide on ethical principles to note while conducting research, According to them, making the right decision in research is important, as failure to do this can lead to weakened personal and professional trust, delayed knowledge advancement, as well as wasted time and effort. In order to mitigate these threats to research, professional principles that express generally acceptable traditions of working with others and conducting research have been developed. In his book on behavioral research, Cozby and Scott (2012)

Research Paper On Columbine Shooting I thought that the massacre at columbine high school was a horrible thing to happen. i think it could have been easily prevented if someone would have just talked to them about it and how they could fix their social problems. Dylan and Eric were very troubled teens who didn t know what to do and did they oml thing they could think to do. then only thing that they thought would end the pain. to me it could have been prevented very easily. 20 34 i think the media and the police department somehow made the entire columbine situation 10 times worse. the police were there but wouldn t go in and help the kids. they waited 3 hours before they helped the teacher that got shot, and started shooting at dylan causing him to go back in and kill even
  • 4. Benefits Of Veganism And Vegetarianism Veganism and Vegetarianism Veganism and vegetarianism are widespread trends that have been gaining attention rapidly all around the world. For some people, they are only a diet. On the other hand, for others, they are a lifestyle. Veganism and Vegetarianism are both diverse diets that can affect the human body and environment in different ways. Veganismis a lifestyle that excludes any use of animal products, such as meats, dairy, leather, etc. The main purpose of veganism is to not support animal exploitation, thus not support animal cruelty. However, many people can also turn to veganism as a diet. Veganism proves to be beneficial for what a substantial amount of people desire, weight loss. Weight loss is usually greater on a vegan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These causes are discussed in detail as follows; Agriculture; One of the biggest drivers of deforestation is agriculture. Few vegans believe that everyone should become vegan to help cure the world in ways where we do not have to promote acts such as deforestation, and do not have to continue killing animals for our own desires. However, the majority of vegans are satisfied with their own actions, knowing that they can make a difference on their own. On the contrary, vegetarianism is a not as strict of a diet as veganism, much less a lifestyle. Many vegetarians choose this lifestyle because they are attempting to fix their health, want to take part in saving animals, or simply do not like the taste of meat. In a way, vegetarianism is a healthier diet than veganism, even though vegetarians wouldn t be losing pounds quite as fast. Vegetarians are least likely to become nutrient deficient, which is a problem with veganism. Because veganism is so strict, it is hard to chose the right substitutes to eat in order to get all the nutrients you need. On the other hand, vegetarians are
  • 5. The Effect Of Gamma Ray Irradiation On Sludge Settleability 3. Results and discussion 3.1. Physical characteristics 3.1.1. Effect of gamma ray irradiation on sludge settleability In static sedimentation tests, a distinct sedimentation interface between the supernatant and sludge was observed for all samples with different irradiation doses, whereas the expected rapid improvement of the irradiated sedimentation rate was not observed (Fig. 1). These trends agreed with the results of Meeroff et al (2004). According to the sedimentation curves, there are two periods during static sedimentation process: (1) the initial hindered settling period, in which the interface between the supernatant and sludge decreases at a constant velocity (u0) relying on the sludge concentration; (2) the succedent sludge compression period, in which the settling velocity of the interface gradually declines (Wu et al., 2009; Iritani et al., 2015). For the untreated sludge, u0 is 10.36 mmВ·hв€’1 and SV720 is 37.1%, as shown in Fig. 2. For irradiated sludge, the sedimentation velocity was slightly increased to 11.55 mmВ·h 1 at doses up to 15 kGy. SV was continuously decreased with the increasing dose and a 19.4% reduction rate was achieved at 15 kGy. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian people were housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and burned killing their family members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs to attack the French civilians at local areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance club. They also started to attack the military when threatened and hid weapons in the French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French civilians were also tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian children whenever they saw them. During the 2013 fiscal year, Courts enforced 7,256 charges of sexual harassment, out of which, women comprised 82.6 % of victims, while there were 27,687 cases of genderdiscrimination. Our era has seen new conventions and legal philosophies, which are steering towards female emancipation. Courts have passed laws such as Title VII, of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religious belief, gender, or national origin of the person. These laws empower women and aim to forestall them from facing any discrimination or hostility at work. Civil rights provide protection to women, but it fails to provide the sense of equality that women deserve. During the 20th century, our society has envisioned a vast movement for Equal Right Amendment (ERA). The ERA was a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution, which guaranteed equality between human races and women, under law. The bill failed in 1982, when it did not receive enough state votes for the confirmation. To a historian, North Country can present insight about gender inequality in the late 20th century. In order to determine what items should be produced where, a risk assessment was conducted for all lines per the average forecast for each line. The Coefficient of Variation (CV) was determined in order to analyse the risk associated with each line, due to fluctuations in demand. The organism also causes a wide range of diseases in different intermediate hosts, ranging from animals, such as mammals and birds to human (Astrid et al., 2000). In human, this parasite poses serious threat by causing a disease called Toxoplasmosis (Parasites, 2015). The parasite exits through the faeces of cats. Within the cat s intestinal epithelium, T. gondii parasite undergoes gametogenesis and mating. This leads to the generation of oocysts containing sporozoites that are the shed in the cat s faeces, which could readily infect new host cells (Joanne et al., 2013). It is presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in Canada, but the authorities allow cannabis to be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in Canada believe that cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward the belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance should not be illegal. Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug. Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the authorities directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation. Canada has a history in debating the use of cannabis and the circumstances when it can be beneficial for the consumer and for society as a whole. Even if it means sacrificing the occupant of the car to save the lives of many others. When the collision and death are unavoidable, the developers for the avoidance patterning of the self driving cars would need to develop sensors and cameras that can detect and differentiate between cars and humans. Also, they would need to be able to scan the situation and process its surroundings to make the safest choice possible in any given scenario. If this means putting the driver into the risk to save the lives of many others that could be put in danger trying to save the life of just the cars occupant. Albert Borowitz and Kelly Winters are two well known writers who wrote long critiques that analyzed the work of Charles Dickens. Crime writer Albert Borowitz believes that Charles Dickens uses the narrative of Oliver s fall to serve his reformist purposes of attacking England s harsh, poor laws and illustrating [in] the thesis that city slums could breed crime even in the most innocent people (Borowitz). I absolutely agree with Borowitz. In the beginning, the reader just assumes the Oliver just has terrible luck and that all of these terrible events are happening to him out of misfortune. Oliver is portrayed as a poor and innocent boy who is just being used by other people who have selfish intentions. Later on, the bystanders realize that he was really the hardened little wretch he was described to be by people (Dickens). Comparing the beginning of the novel to the end of the novel, Oliver has transformed from an innocent and young boy into a criminal in which he only speaks lies. Dickens has managed to attack England s laws and changed Oliver s character from an innocent orphan into a criminal. Jhaveri 4 Later on in the article, Borowitz also states that Dickens has

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Port scans are another tool used by hackers to break a network. Attackers use port scanning to discover services they can break into because machines that are connected to a Local Area Network or Internet run many services that listen at well known ports. The general objective of a port scan is to map out the system s operating system and the applications and services it is running. A hacker can then test for vulnerabilities within the applications and plan an attack ( Port Scanning, n.d.). Port scanners are software that identify which ports and services are open on an Internet connected device ( How to protect against port scans, n.d.). The scanner sends a connection request to the target computer on all 65536 ports, and records which ports respond and how. The type of response received indicates whether the port is in use. I use this software to verify the security policies of the network, as well as network inventory, managing service upgrade schedules, and monitoring host or service uptime. One of those themes is the concept of power and the role in which it plays in the interaction and development of characters. More specifically, the role of women within the novels can be scrutinized to better understand the power they hold over the other characters, their own lives and the direction of the story. From the beginning of the novel O Shaughnessy wants to acquire power so begins constructing falsifications and weaving a very tangled web, however, she is unsuccessful in upholding her lies. The inability of Brigid O Shaughnessy to attain and maintain power is symbolic of the generalized role of women throughout the novel. Similar to O Shaughnessy, the character Iva Archer also exemplifies the struggle of women to get power in the masculine and testosterone driven world of hard boiled fiction. However, Archer is very unsuccessful in her attempts because, since she is such a flat character, all her control must be derived from her sexual nature. She was a blond woman of a few years more than thirty. Her facial prettiness was perhaps five years past its best moment. Her body for all its sturdiness was finely molded and exquisite (Hammett, 25). She is a very obviously attractive woman and is able to get some basics that she desires; nevertheless, Archer s inability to use her sexuality effectively depletes her power later on in the novel. Some may be elected to a government position, and some may start companies that thrive financially. However, the companies and individuals that fail are the ones that are unable to maintain the initial success and reputation that they had. In The Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardyweaves this idea throughout the events and symbols that make up this story about the rise and fall of a man named Michael Henchard. The novel utilizes the actions of Henchard and others alongside dynamics and traditions within the town to convey the theme that success and reputation are not guaranteed to last, rgtc once they are earned. Hardy uses the repercussions of Henchard s manipulation of others, the stone bridge at the edge of town, and the power structure in Casterbridge to argue that success and reputation are not ensured for life when they are earned, and that they must be constantly maintained and improved. Throughout many fields such as business and politics, manipulation plays a key role in establishing positions of power and superiority for individuals who want to be at the top of their field. However, manipulating individuals or groups of people can also result in repercussions that could strip that power from whoever gained it. As Henchard became the mayor of Casterbridge, he manipulated people in order to assert his dominance over them, and utilize the power that he

To address these concerns the initial plan was to determine if the claims made by the customer were true and then find ways in which to first address it without the least inconvenience to the customer. I sat down with the Head of Network and Plant Performance and worked out that I needed to arrange for: Voltage levels to be measured and adjusted it if possible (by adjusting tap positions on transformers, switching in of Capacitor banks or voltage regulators), remove unnecessary loading on supply feeders to the Taung Substation and reconfigure the networkwhere possible to provide alternative paths for load to flow, measure the three phase load balance and reconfigure connected loads to provide an even spread of loads across the three phases.
