How Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) And Associated Dementias
Contemporary Issues Formative Essay Introduction For the purpose of this essay I will be comparing
how Alzheimer s Disease (AD) and associated dementias are recognised in the United Kingdom (UK)
and responded to, when compared to Italy. I have chosen this subject as there are indications from
both countries that dementia sufferers will increase dramatically over the next twenty years. It is
estimated that there are 800,000 people in the UK with AD and dementia, this number is expected to
double by 2040. At present the cost to the economy is £23 billion, by 2040 the costs are likely to
treble(Gov.UK). REFERENCE NEEDED. In Italy there are approximately 1 million people living
with dementia. (Alzheimer s, 2016) It has been suggested by 2020, it is estimated that 584,000 new
cases of dementia will occur in the country (Choices, 2016). This this will inevitably put a high
demand not only on both National Health Services (NHS) in the UK and in Italy, but also on support
services within the care sector, such as carers, voluntary organisations and also families of AD and
dementia sufferers. This will also increase the workload on social workers as more assessment of need
will have to be carried out to maintain the levels of support needed to sustain an expected quality of
life. I will be addressing legislation and policy s adopted by both countries historically and modern
day. I will also be discussing diagnosis of AD and dementia, funding, ethical and cultural issues,
services

High School Sports Module Analysis
Do you ever, as an athlete, parent, or fan of Iowa high school sports, want to watch the state high
school sporting events? Because it is well known that the northwest corner of Iowa tends to field the
better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams representing
the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people
will either go and watch in person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. Often
the people that can t make the trip to watch in person, like local people, family members, or even high
school athletes themselves, will check if it is on television (Byers 1). Starting during the 2016 2017
academic year, the Iowa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s a question I m sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state
tournament championships. I ll go into more detail about the CSN Chicago deal with the help of my
interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the
area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier,
about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the
western side, and don t have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The local
cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from
Chicago, almost none in this area do. It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch
IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in Sioux Center about it
and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million
dollars. Instead of people on the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox
Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and Timberwolves. Next, people might
wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my
interview. Scott said, Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will
cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally,

Effective Use Of Dashes In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
The use of dashes in Emily Dickinson s poetry is the most conspicuous indicator of her nonconformist
spirit. The dashes sets her poems apart from other works of poetry and makes them interesting to read.
Emily Dickinson s use of dashes creates ambiguity in many of her poems, especially poems already
addressing ambiguous subjects (1660). A good example of a poem that is confusing in subject and
effective in using dashes to enhance the ambiguity is Title Divine, is Mine. After reading line 7, God
gives us Women , the understanding becomes uncertain as the next two lines are read, When you hold
Garnet to Garnet / Gold to Gold (1666, 7 9). The dashes used cause the reader to ask if Dickinson is
possibly comparing women to garnet and gold, or speaking to something deeper. As the reader moves
along to line 10, Born Bridalled Shrouded, there is even more uncertainty because the words can have
more than one meaning (1666). Obviously, the use of wife and bridalled speak of marriage; however,
the religious imagery and the use of the word shrouded lead the reader to greater reflection (1666).
Thus, the dashes in Dickinson s poetry sometimes add more uncertainty to a poems interpretation. ...

The pause is meant to be longer than the typical comma or period would require. The dashes
necessitate contemplation; thus, the dashes used by Dickinson convey her pursuit of a truth that could
best be communicated indirectly (1660). Moreover, some of her dashes appear to be used in place of
conjunctions. For example, in Wild Nights Wild Nights! the lines, Futile the winds / To a Heart in the
port , could have been written as, Futile are the winds / To a Heart in the port (1670, 5 6). The use of
dashes in place of conjunctions encourage the readers to take their time to read and interpret the

Importance Of Baroque In Art
A number of modern artists have focused on reflecting personal perception of the world through a
contemporary Baroque style in art. The increasing popularity of Baroque nowadays is due to the
complex processes that took place in society and the solutions the modern culture has to offer to
resolve them. Truly, through the history, the emergence of Baroque elements has always reflected the
complexity of human life, followed by technological progress and cultural exchange. Eventually,
Baroque, the style characterized by extravagance and drama, has been defined as anti classical,
innovative and experimental, intended to touch directly the beholder, individual of diverse and
pluralistic society.
At the same time, Baroque has influenced not every medium of art in the works of contemporary
artists of the 21st century. Such elements as sculpture, architecture, and music have been hardly
influenced by the inspirations of the previous centuries. Indeed, the style that has emerged during the
period of discoveries in new sciences, exploration of new lands, increased trade and the reformation of
church, could barely provide any solutions for artists born three centuries later, especially in those
mediums of art, where the reference for the past signifies of the regression of an art element
development.
Indeed, it is not possible to imagine someone could compete with Gianlorenzo Bernini in feeling of
the Baroque style in sculpture. Thus, the most prominent works of the artist, known for

My Life Soundtrack
Have you ever rode in a car subsequently after some tremendous event just occurred in your life then a
song begins to sing perfectly with what is going on in your situation? I feel like this has happened
often to many people. Being almost eighteen years old, throughout my life there have had plenty of
experiences that match perfectly with songs. I like to compare it to a soundtrack of my life. As an
example, a soundtrack that I relate to my life is ¨One thousand miles¨ by Vanessa Carlton. The specific
verse that relates my life to this song is ¨You know I d walk a thousand miles just to see you tonight.
The reason I relate to my life to this is because before I turned sixteen years old I would walk miles to

Traumatic Stress In Law Enforcement Essay
Prevention of traumatic stress in law enforcement personnel: A cursory look at the roles of peer
support and critical incident stress management adequately explains how mental health professionals,
with the help of trained paraprofessionals, use crisis intervention theory to provide mental health
support to law enforcement communities in order to reduce job related stress and improve overall
wellbeing. The following review will explain, how mental health providers, through the use of peer
supports, have been able to break through the rigid boundaries historically established between the law
enforcement and mental health communities. Crisis intervention techniques generated from crisis
theory can help law enforcement officers deal with their reactions to a critical incident compounded
with their constant exposure to gruesome scenes of human tragedies. Without mental health assistance,
law enforcement officers can reach debilitating stress levels that not only affect job performance but
can also impact other areas of their lives, such as, their overall mental health, physical health, and their

Essay On American Sign Language
I first learned American Sign Language through a TV show. It was one of the shows that were
trending lately, just like the current Stranger Things and Thirteen Reasons Why. I was a bandwagoner
so I would always watch all the shows that were talked about. Switched At Birth educated me so much
about ASL, deafness, and more. Because of this show, I have wanted to learn sign language more than
ever. More than just learning a language, I wanted to know what experiences accompany a hearing
person beginning to learning ASL but mostly how does a deaf person feel throughout their day?
American Sign Language, or more commonly known as ASL, was founded more than 200 thousand
years ago from different sign languages around the time. ASL, as suggested by its name, is not a
universal sign language. If you were to go to and any other country, a person might be at a loss when
the signs do not match up. Most people assume that sign language comes from just the hands, but
everyday speakers add facial expression and some movement of their body. ASL requires a hearing
person to do things very differently than how they normally act. For instance, when signing to a deaf
or hard of hearing a person, one needs to face ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

whiteboard. After that, we got into groups of two in order to find more about our partners only through
signing. This was very interesting because at the end, Jai made all of us talk about our partners
through signing, which I thought was a very interesting and effective way to teach the

Alexander the great
1. Evaluate the ancient writers as sources of information about alexander the great
Alexander the Great was born in the Pella region of Macedonia on July 20, 356 B.C., to parents King

Analysis Of The Movie The Grand Parade
OILDORADO
MILLER, JEREMY
Last weekend in Taft, California, two hours north of Los Angeles, between the procession of floats
and marching bands, grown men in cowboy attire shot at one another with antique revolvers, rifles and
shotguns. The concussions rattled plate glass windows of stores along Center Street, many of which
stand vacant. As the men passed by, children rushed into the street to pick up the spent cartridges,
which they found mixed in with lollipops and pieces of gum. This is the Grand Parade, the finale of
Taft s Oildorado festival, an unbridled street party held every five years to celebrate the region s
patron industry oil.
A man on one float dressed as an oil smeared roughneck yelled, God bless Taft! and Made in America!
as he tipped a yellow hardhat toward the waving crowd. Another float ferried the Maids of Petroleum,
young beauty competition participants dressed in fishnet tights and Old West bustle skirts. The
competition winner, known as the Oil Queen, sat smiling in a white wicker throne before a glittery
cutout of a derrick gushing a rooster tail of crude.
Most associate the Central Valley with agriculture. But here in the dry southwestern corner of the vast
basin, oil is the undisputed king. The giant oil fields that envelop the town of 9,000 the Midway
Sunset, Cymric and Belridge are among the largest in the country, each having produced over a billion
barrels of oil. The landscape reflects that reality. Fields of pump jacks

Scene 1 of this play has great dramatic significance. In this essay, I will be looking at key points
throughout the scene that reveal the key features of the plot, characters, theme and imagery plus how it
is used to give the audience a taster for what is to come.
Scene one is set in New Orleans, I feel this is used because in peoples mind beforehand it has a strong
emotional presence and is often associated with many types of genres such as music. Sight and smell

Stanley does not fall for her intimidating and self pitying ways from the death of her husband and the
lies of her wealth, the use of polka is premeditated to knowingly be brought to the audience that only
they and Blanche hear it due to her change in mood and actions. The contrast between Stanley and
Blanche is immediate, due to their opposition of childhood backgrounds, Blanche coming from an
aristocratic background to the less well off Stanley who is a relaxed man with strong beliefs and up
until the arrival of
Blanche he knew the true meaning of living(loving and caring for those you love) which when
Blanche arrived made him take out his stress on
Stella.
There is already a lot of things to take in for the audience, even though it can be broken down quite
simply, they soon realise the contrasting opposites of Blanche and Stanley and the current and future
rifts it is likely to cause between Stanley and Stella. We see that Stella is becoming the middle link
between these two characters.
On top of the contrast between Stanley and Stella there is now an extra aspect of Blanche s true
deception. This is first shown when
Blanche, who is offered whiskey from Stanley, comments that she does not like to touch a glass, even
though the audience have clearly seen her drink a glass alone while Stanley is not in the room. They

Browning s Sonnet 13, By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
In Sonnet 13 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the beloved wants the speaker to transcribe the feelings
that she has for him in a sonnet. However, even though she knows that her feelings are real, she is not
yet comfortable with declaring her love in such a way. In her sonnet, Browning compares what she is
feeling to a lit torch in rough winds: And hold the torch out, while the winds are rough, / Between our
faces, to cast light on each? / I drop it at thy feet (3 5). In this metaphor, the torch acts to enlighten
what is between both Browning and her beloved. Except, with external forces (such as the rough
winds) battling against her increasing emotions, she feels as though she must focus on protecting her
feelings. By the end of this quote, Browning drops the torch, thus representing the fact that she can t
go through with describing what she feels for her beloved. Ultimately, she tells her love, My hand to
hold my spirit so far off / From myself me that I should bring thee proof / In words, of love hid in me
out of reach (6 8). Here, she states that she can t go through with risking herself. For now, he will have
to settle with silence as his only answer. Simply by evaluating Browning s response, we can see how
much she cares for her beloved. First off, she worries about the possibility of risking or changing the
strong emotions she has. Additionally, she believes that, given her profoundly heartfelt emotions, she
will not be able to accurately depict their significance.

My Favorite Trip At The Royal Palace Of Henry Viii
What a great weekend, I do not know which was my favorite event. One minute I was at the Royal
Palace of Henry VIII and another minute I was in Stonehenge. No matter what happen, I will
remember this weekend for the rest of my life. Thursday, we all woke up really early to travel to the
Royal Palace of Henry VIII. Our tour guide Heather, gave us the entire tour of the place. My favorite
part of the tour was the clock due to the fact it was a 24 hour clock telling which day, month, and
season it is. After the tour, we had two hours of free time and most of us wanted to see Henry VIII
toilet and all I can say is that toilets during that time was different than the ones now. When we all saw
the toilet, all the frat boys decided to go to the maze and we all race find the exit, which took us three
times longer since we passed by it three time. At the end, we all admit that Ryan Straub Fisher beat all
of us. Following a morning run, I decided to chow down on my first Fish Chips which the fish was so
tender and the batter was cooked spot on. After lunch, we were taken on a long bus journey to
Holbrook house where we are all going to stay for two nights. Tour guide Heather gave us an etiquette
dinner lesson, so they next time I dine with British people, I know what to expect. During dinner we
decided to dress up nicely and that dinner was a fabulous start to my weekend. After a wonderful
selection of Canapes and an Amuse Bouche, Our appetizer was a Wild Mushroom Veloute with

Political Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm
In global political scenario, December 30, 1921 is, arguably, one of the most important days of the
20th century. On this particular day, an unprecedented history was created; Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics (USSR), world s first socialist state was born out of the historical Great October Socialist
Revolution . In the long run, USSR/ Soviet Union was not the perfect nation by any means, yet it s
hard to deny the fact that unprecedented changes happened in the world, directly or indirectly, because
of its historic creation, imposing presence, and major league influence in global politics until its
ultimate demise in 1991. Like the political scenario, world literature was also changing its face during
mid twentieth century, and the issue of communism had become one of the prominent subjects in the
writings of that time. Animal Farm, a novella written by a popular 20th century English writer George
Orwell, is both an allegory and satire of the socialist state of Soviet Union. His own experience of
fighting against the totalitarian communists in Spain in 1938 turned Orwell into one of the most
astringent critics of Joseph Stalin and his corrupted autocratic regime in the Soviet Russia. Widely
considered as one of the best books of 20th century, Animal Farm is written in simple language but is
vastly rich of allegories and satire. I have chosen this literature for my research paper, and I will be
using it to argue that even though Orwell criticized the socialist

Who Is Gogol s Portrayal Of Human Motivation In The Overcoat
Gogol addresses a fundamental of human motivation in The Overcoat, as the insignificance of Akaky
Akakievich s life is upturned by the new coat. The clerk s insignificance is evident though discussion
of his name, his christening and general ambiguity as in a certain department...there worked a certain
civil servant (Gogol 394). Akaky s consuming work as a copyist is based on the concept of
reproducible and interchangeable material deeming him to be of low social standing. His younger
peers lead more interesting lives, and frequently make jokes at his expense exacerbating his
worthlessness, and limiting his vision of possibilities. Fyodor Dostoevsky s comment, We all come out

Upon the loss of the coat his coworkers once again forget about him. Gogol reveals the ways in which
Akaky Akakievich s individuality is oppressed and denied by his bureaucratic society, to the point
where he is neglected at the time of his greatest need. Only once in the story, when Akaky protests,
does a fellow civil servant realize how cruelly they are treating the copyist. By presenting the
tragicomic fall of Akaky Akakievich, Gogol draws attention to the mundane life of a member of the
silent majority writing and St. Petersburg carried on without its Akaky Akakievich just as though he
had never even existed (Gogol 419). Gogol seeks redemption for the neglected everyman: by forcing
the officials to experience the brutal winter without an overcoat, Akaky Akakievich s ghost exposes
them to the lives of the powerless and the insignificant. Akaky Akakievich embodies the stagnancy
and incompetency of the bureaucracy, while simultaneously bearing its repressive effects through his

The Fool Archetype
The Fool is the fifth card, based off of The Fool card in the major arcana of many other tarot decks.
Here, The Fool represents the conflict asexuals face when coming out, that they do not understand
their bodies, that they are confused, that they are foolish. Other LGBTQ people face these challeges as
well, but much people know much more about being lesbian, gay, or bisexual than they do about being
ace. Of course that is not to say other LGBTQ folks do not face these stigmas as much, the oppression
just operates slightly differently. The archetype of The Fool card from the AALR Tarot deck reads,

Asexual people do not exist to many in the world, and along with bisexuals, pansexuals, polysexuals,
nonbinary, intersex, and many other people, often receive no recognition or acknowledgement.
Asexuals have adopted dragons as a sort of mascot, as the representation of not being real, not existing
to people in the real world. It is not only lack of representation, but denial of struggles, denial of
personhood, and strict adherence to binary categories. People who do not exist within well known
labels, such as gay or straight, are persecuted, mistrusted, invalidated, and oppressed, sometimes by
members of other oppressed groups. When it comes to race, people of color are already
underrepresented in the media, and because asexuality is hardly present at all, asexual people of color
are especially rare to find. When asexual people are represented in the media, they usually are not
explicitly called asexual, or their lack of sexual attraction to others is driven by emotionlessness,
detachment, or apathy. The association with asexuality and mental health disorders such as sociopathy
fails to understand the key component of asexuality, which is asexuals do not feel sexual attraction,
and just that. Asexuals can be completely able to feel romantic attraction, although some do not. No
part of the definition of asexuality says asexuals must be completely cold and heartless. People are
able to be kind and compassionate without forming sexual or romantic bonds with other people. The

African American Culture And History Of African-American Hair
African American Hair
The African American culture includes many things such as clothing and music. However, the highest
beauty standard for black people is hair. Kinky, curly in other words nappy , is an important aspect of
the culture. It is as if it tells a story about where we came from and the troubles our ancestors faced on
a day to day basis. Their hair is multicultural, meaning that there are several types varying from
straight to extremely tight curls.
A significant difference between African American hair and Caucasian hair is the curl pattern or bond
of the hair follicles. Other than that, they both have the same identical makeup. A single hair follicle
possesses some complex structures such as a cuticle and root. It contains three layers; epidermis,
dermis, and the subcutaneous layer. These are the outer, middle, and inner layer of the follicle. It is
composed of certain connective tissue like adipose or fat found in the subcutaneous layer. The strand
has cells like keratin and melanophore that provides the hair with the many shades of hair color. The
smaller hairs around the perimeter, also known as baby hairs develop within the first trimester of
conception. They often grow out as a person gets older, but with some people, it remains. There are
several different types of curl patterns that people may have. It varies from soft waves to tight coils.
This depends on the type of bond a hair follicle has. The tighter the bond, the tighter the curl and

The stories An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard and Once more to the lake by E.B. White
illustrates the author s childhood memories with description and imagery theme but have different
personal experiences and issues. An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard was about her old
neighborhood. Dillard depicts her childhood from the age of five through high school, in 1950 s
America. According to Dillard, to find the source of happiness, one must resist the world to try to seal
that character out and in Once more to the lake by E.B. White also reflects his childhood memories
with his parents and later with his son and express those certain elements of life, such as the
enjoyment of the youth, continue forever for a different generation. The main idea of the Dillard s
essay is maintaining cheerfulness and joy even in adulthood, by narrating her childhood as a template
for developing and maintaining happiness and White includes descriptions and imagery theme from
his past and present. This reflection allows the reader to imagine the memories of a son and a father
enjoying the America dream, a vacation. While both An American Childhood by Annie Dillard and
Once more to the Lake by E.B. White are descriptions and imagery sprung from the same childhood
memories, they have explored the experience of a child from a different perspective.
In Both essays, Dillard s An American Childhood and White s One more to the Lake the authors are
using descriptive and imagery pattern to share their Childhood memories, which gives the readers the
sense of freedom and joy. An American Childhood was about Dillard s old neighborhood. She used a
narrative tone in her story that described her childhood memories. As Dillard said: Boys welcomed me
at baseball, too, for I had through enthusiastic practice, what was weirdly known as a boy s arm (pp.
141). Dillard uses a lot of description in her story. She creates a clear image for the readers with her
descriptions throughout. As Dillard indicated: We smashed through a gap in another hedge, entered a
scruffy backyard and ran around its back porch and tight between houses to Edgerton Avenue...... (pp.
143). E.B. White s essay Once More to the Lake also illustrates his

Embargo on Cuba
Embargo on Cuba The U.S. imposed an Embargo on Cuba on Oct. 19, 1960. Has the time come for
the United States to lift the 5 decade embargo? The Embargo on Cuba was a part of America s Cold
War strategy against the Soviet Union, imposed on the basis that Cuba was a threat to the U.S.
National Security because of their alliance with the Soviet Union. Although Cuba would like the U.S
to terminate the embargo against their country, the U.S. wants Cuba to make their situation a better
living environment and to promote human rights for its citizens. The Cuban Embargo, also known as
el bloqueo to Cuban citizens, was declared by the United States in 1960 to eliminate imports of Cuban
goods. When the embargo was first set, it was only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raul Castro has gradually implanted major economic reforms and lifted travel restrictions, which will
help the country strengthen its international position. Because of Raul making huge changes for Cuba,
the island has let in allowing Cubans to buy or sell property, expand consumer goods such as, DVD
players, microwaves, cell phones and internet service. These small but large changes for Cuba, that
Raul changed, is making a huge impact on the isolated island. Now, because of Raul s changes, the
U.S. talks with Cuban officials every 6 months to see how everything is playing out (Frank). Many
people in the U.S. do not agree with the Embargo on Cuba because they seem to agree with the fact
that the embargo hurts the Cuban citizens more than the government. Cuba s relationship with the
Soviet Union during the Cold War rose concerns about U.S. National Security, but the era is long over.
The USSR dissolved in 1991, and American policy has adapted to change in most aspects apart from
Embargo. If 50 years of sanctions have not toppled the Castro regime, there is no reason to think the
embargo will ever work. U.S. has economic relations with countries like China and Saudi Arabia that
have similarly been called out for repressing dissent. Iran, for example, stands as the greatest threat to
United States National Security interests in 2014 much like Cuba

Bingo rallies on for more good causes last month Bingo was once again playing its part in the charity
fundraising process last month, with October yielding some impressive sums for good causes. Both
the Clee Hill Royal British Poppy Appeal, and a comedy bingo night for a children s charity, did their
bit to raise much needed funds, as the month passed out of sight. Over in Clee Hill, in Kidderminster,
an evening of bingo managed to raise £772.28 thanks to 100 people attending a Poppy Appeal bingo
event, in support of the Clee Hill and District Branch Royal British Legion. The annual remembrance
Sunday event will take place on November 8, and there will be more events taking place following the
service at St. Peters Church at 6.30pm. Meanwhile, over in Brentwood, the Shenfield Parish Hall s
Comedy Bingo Night turned out to be quite the success, with over £1,720 raised for the Brentwood
Children s Charity SNAP. Again, over 100 people attended the event, which features giggles and gags
from comedian, Skittleman. The Mayor of Brentwood also called one of the bingo rounds at the event,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Overdraft
1. Overdraft
Overdraft may occur when the amount of money which is withdrawn from a bank account exceeds the
amount available (Overdraft, 2015). Normally it happens when an individual writes the total on the
check more than the total balance in the account. The bank will cover the checks and allows the
customers to deposit or place more funds into the account in order to cover the negative balance. In
addition, the bank will charge an interest at the agreed rate (Overdraft, 2015) on this short term loan
instead of charging fees. Basically, the bank would not reject the customers check when there is no
enough funds which are available to cover up because the customes pay for the overdraft protection on
their account.

Prism In Heroes At War
The personal prism gives the people of the present an insight into, as stated by Edward Rothstein, the
deeply personal experience of the war of those who were in the war or impacted by the war regardless
of whether the effect was direct or indirect. The Visceral Reality is great for allowing people a look at
how different people were personally affected in a given time. As there were a lot of participants of
many different occupations, there exists many pieces of literature , memoirs, art, and pictures that
depict the personal experience of the war and, as Rothstein states, much of the knowledge and
perspectives we have of the war front and the experience of being in the trenches comes from the
individuals that participated in the war. A pitfall that lies within the personal prism perspective is that
more often than not, the narrow scope of view that the prism offers is such that doesn t fully contribute

Cyrano De Bergerac Character Analysis
In the play, Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostant, there are many characters in the book; but our
focus is on Cyrano de Bergerac. His admirability lies in his willingness to please others. It may be
because he is very self conscious, so he thinks that no one will ever like let alone love him. In the play,
Cyrano is in love with his cousin, Roxane. But Roxane is in love with Christian, and Christian
Roxane. Cyrano ends up setting Christian up with Roxane, while Cyrano writes all the romantic lines
for Christian to woo Roxane (Christian is terrible at love poems). Christian gets married to Roxane
right before the men have to leave for war. Days later, Roxane comes to the war camp, and the same

Racial Stereotypes, Racism, Prejudice, And Stereotypes Essay
So much of what we do, say and feel is based on context (Kellner). In one group somethings are
acceptable while the same actions or words in another group are not. Dropping an F bomb at the bar
with your friends is much different than during a job interview or perhaps in front of your mother. The
context for viewing this movie is a class where we look for and acknowledge the stigma of racial
stereotypes as presented by media. People, for the most part, do not go to the movies thinking about
stereotypes or racism. Tim White defines racism as, denying the right of self determination and the
exercise of full autonomy to others (White 101) and I think this movie plays right into that definition.
It is easy for those of us in this class to see the racism, bigotry, and stereotypes that are present in this
movie. Unfortunately, I do not think the general public, especially a predominately white public will
see the film through those same contexts. There will be those who are cognizant of the way media
affects us and our notion of us and them. (Kellner, 7) A few will be aware of the ease in which we fall
into the belief that people who look certain ways will always act in those ways. These people will see
what the intended message of these characters. Unfortunately, there are those who do not accept
racism do not understand that part of what media does is to influence everything about us and the way
we identify both ourselves and the world around us. (Kellner, 7) Moreover,

changes the mood of the audience from feeling excited to feeling tense and uncomfortable. First there
were drums which made the audience feel Ness s tension as he tried to find the bookkeeper. Mobile
music is then added, creating more tension showing now that Ness

[He] won t. By God [he] won t (Watson 143). Wes s role in the justice system suddenly strikes him as
he recognizes that burying the truth only encourages falsehood to build. This awareness provokes
forceful emotions to course through Wes s mind as he expresses frustration with a violent fist. At first,
Wes criticizes himself for thinking he could offer mercy to a convict. It becomes apparent to him that
lawbreakers invariably deserve some form of punishment for their wrongdoings. He shakes his head at
the bias of the the corrupt jury which would cut [Frank] loose simply because of his infallible
reputation. Nonetheless, Wes swears to God that he will penalize his brother despite the county s
majority point of view. Obeying and prosecuting the rules should be prioritized over one s image. The
fact that the criminal is his own brother fails to persuade his mindset. A lawbreaker will be a
lawbreaker regardless of his or her assumed character. Wes is prepared to take the first initiative and
perhaps stir up trouble in the community in order to do what is morally right. Both pieces of literature
strongly convey the message that one must defend the law. David voluntarily exposes Ted to the FBI
knowing he is jeopardizing his brother s life while Wes concludes that Frank is not entitled to mercy
and should serve time in jail. These men are in similar scenarios, for they are conflicted by the choice

Black Men In Public Spaces Summary
Black men and public spaces is an excellent article it has many similarities to the world today. This
story has several points that I agree with I have a strong connection with the story. I assume his
choice, this new title for the female readers to have more insight on the problems that a black man go

emotional connection. So, that they will be able visualize and understand what he is going through.
This story shows that black men still get judged due to their race and gender. I don t like how he

The time had finally come. After three weeks of pain, two weeks of testing, and a week of waiting.
The results were in. I just had to wait a few more minutes for the doctor to come in and tell me what

The news actually came as a little bit of a relief because a meniscus tear was the quickest recovery

Many of his friends used to say that he had all the balls of any man who walked the earth. The courage

nature and her own remedies.

People have used them for centuries but it is only recently that western culture has rediscovered the
wonders of herbs. In part, this was because the development of allopathic medicinal techniques in the
west combined with the lack of scientific support for non conventional medicines to give an unsavory
(and quite wrong) reputation to herbal medicines and supplements. Recent discoveries have forced the
medical community to reconsider the benefits of herbs. This has mostly come about with increasing
exposure of western community to the healing techniques practiced in other cultures and countries that
proved to be more effective than, or at the least complimentary to, allopathic

  • 2. How Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) And Associated Dementias Contemporary Issues Formative Essay Introduction For the purpose of this essay I will be comparing how Alzheimer s Disease (AD) and associated dementias are recognised in the United Kingdom (UK) and responded to, when compared to Italy. I have chosen this subject as there are indications from both countries that dementia sufferers will increase dramatically over the next twenty years. It is estimated that there are 800,000 people in the UK with AD and dementia, this number is expected to double by 2040. At present the cost to the economy is £23 billion, by 2040 the costs are likely to treble(Gov.UK). REFERENCE NEEDED. In Italy there are approximately 1 million people living with dementia. (Alzheimer s, 2016) It has been suggested by 2020, it is estimated that 584,000 new cases of dementia will occur in the country (Choices, 2016). This this will inevitably put a high demand not only on both National Health Services (NHS) in the UK and in Italy, but also on support services within the care sector, such as carers, voluntary organisations and also families of AD and dementia sufferers. This will also increase the workload on social workers as more assessment of need will have to be carried out to maintain the levels of support needed to sustain an expected quality of life. I will be addressing legislation and policy s adopted by both countries historically and modern day. I will also be discussing diagnosis of AD and dementia, funding, ethical and cultural issues, services ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. High School Sports Module Analysis Do you ever, as an athlete, parent, or fan of Iowa high school sports, want to watch the state high school sporting events? Because it is well known that the northwest corner of Iowa tends to field the better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams representing the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people will either go and watch in person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. Often the people that can t make the trip to watch in person, like local people, family members, or even high school athletes themselves, will check if it is on television (Byers 1). Starting during the 2016 2017 academic year, the Iowa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That s a question I m sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state tournament championships. I ll go into more detail about the CSN Chicago deal with the help of my interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier, about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the western side, and don t have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The local cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from Chicago, almost none in this area do. It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in Sioux Center about it and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million dollars. Instead of people on the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and Timberwolves. Next, people might wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my interview. Scott said, Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Effective Use Of Dashes In Emily Dickinson s Poetry The use of dashes in Emily Dickinson s poetry is the most conspicuous indicator of her nonconformist spirit. The dashes sets her poems apart from other works of poetry and makes them interesting to read. Emily Dickinson s use of dashes creates ambiguity in many of her poems, especially poems already addressing ambiguous subjects (1660). A good example of a poem that is confusing in subject and effective in using dashes to enhance the ambiguity is Title Divine, is Mine. After reading line 7, God gives us Women , the understanding becomes uncertain as the next two lines are read, When you hold Garnet to Garnet / Gold to Gold (1666, 7 9). The dashes used cause the reader to ask if Dickinson is possibly comparing women to garnet and gold, or speaking to something deeper. As the reader moves along to line 10, Born Bridalled Shrouded, there is even more uncertainty because the words can have more than one meaning (1666). Obviously, the use of wife and bridalled speak of marriage; however, the religious imagery and the use of the word shrouded lead the reader to greater reflection (1666). Thus, the dashes in Dickinson s poetry sometimes add more uncertainty to a poems interpretation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pause is meant to be longer than the typical comma or period would require. The dashes necessitate contemplation; thus, the dashes used by Dickinson convey her pursuit of a truth that could best be communicated indirectly (1660). Moreover, some of her dashes appear to be used in place of conjunctions. For example, in Wild Nights Wild Nights! the lines, Futile the winds / To a Heart in the port , could have been written as, Futile are the winds / To a Heart in the port (1670, 5 6). The use of dashes in place of conjunctions encourage the readers to take their time to read and interpret the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Importance Of Baroque In Art A number of modern artists have focused on reflecting personal perception of the world through a contemporary Baroque style in art. The increasing popularity of Baroque nowadays is due to the complex processes that took place in society and the solutions the modern culture has to offer to resolve them. Truly, through the history, the emergence of Baroque elements has always reflected the complexity of human life, followed by technological progress and cultural exchange. Eventually, Baroque, the style characterized by extravagance and drama, has been defined as anti classical, innovative and experimental, intended to touch directly the beholder, individual of diverse and pluralistic society. At the same time, Baroque has influenced not every medium of art in the works of contemporary artists of the 21st century. Such elements as sculpture, architecture, and music have been hardly influenced by the inspirations of the previous centuries. Indeed, the style that has emerged during the period of discoveries in new sciences, exploration of new lands, increased trade and the reformation of church, could barely provide any solutions for artists born three centuries later, especially in those mediums of art, where the reference for the past signifies of the regression of an art element development. Indeed, it is not possible to imagine someone could compete with Gianlorenzo Bernini in feeling of the Baroque style in sculpture. Thus, the most prominent works of the artist, known for ... I feel like this has happened often to many people. Being almost eighteen years old, throughout my life there have had plenty of experiences that match perfectly with songs. • 7. Traumatic Stress In Law Enforcement Essay Prevention of traumatic stress in law enforcement personnel: A cursory look at the roles of peer support and critical incident stress management adequately explains how mental health professionals, with the help of trained paraprofessionals, use crisis intervention theory to provide mental health support to law enforcement communities in order to reduce job related stress and improve overall wellbeing. The following review will explain, how mental health providers, through the use of peer supports, have been able to break through the rigid boundaries historically established between the law enforcement and mental health communities. Crisis intervention techniques generated from crisis theory can help law enforcement officers deal with their reactions to a critical incident compounded with their constant exposure to gruesome scenes of human tragedies. Without mental health assistance, law enforcement officers can reach debilitating stress levels that not only affect job performance but can also impact other areas of their lives, such as, their overall mental health, physical health, and their ability ... • 9. Essay On American Sign Language I first learned American Sign Language through a TV show. It was one of the shows that were trending lately, just like the current Stranger Things and Thirteen Reasons Why. I was a bandwagoner so I would always watch all the shows that were talked about. Switched At Birth educated me so much about ASL, deafness, and more. Because of this show, I have wanted to learn sign language more than ever. More than just learning a language, I wanted to know what experiences accompany a hearing person beginning to learning ASL but mostly how does a deaf person feel throughout their day? American Sign Language, or more commonly known as ASL, was founded more than 200 thousand years ago from different sign languages around the time. ASL, as suggested by its name, is not a universal sign language. If you were to go to and any other country, a person might be at a loss when the signs do not match up. Most people assume that sign language comes from just the hands, but everyday speakers add facial expression and some movement of their body. ASL requires a hearing person to do things very differently than how they normally act. For instance, when signing to a deaf or hard of hearing a person, one needs to face ... • 11. Analysis Of The Movie The Grand Parade OILDORADO MILLER, JEREMY Last weekend in Taft, California, two hours north of Los Angeles, between the procession of floats and marching bands, grown men in cowboy attire shot at one another with antique revolvers, rifles and shotguns. The concussions rattled plate glass windows of stores along Center Street, many of which stand vacant. As the men passed by, children rushed into the street to pick up the spent cartridges, which they found mixed in with lollipops and pieces of gum. This is the Grand Parade, the finale of Taft s Oildorado festival, an unbridled street party held every five years to celebrate the region s patron industry oil. A man on one float dressed as an oil smeared roughneck yelled, God bless Taft! and Made in America! as he tipped a yellow hardhat toward the waving crowd. Another float ferried the Maids of Petroleum, young beauty competition participants dressed in fishnet tights and Old West bustle skirts. The competition winner, known as the Oil Queen, sat smiling in a white wicker throne before a glittery cutout of a derrick gushing a rooster tail of crude. Most associate the Central Valley with agriculture. But here in the dry southwestern corner of the vast basin, oil is the undisputed king. The giant oil fields that envelop the town of 9,000 the Midway Sunset, Cymric and Belridge are among the largest in the country, each having produced over a billion barrels of oil. Scene 1 of this play has great dramatic significance. Scene one is set in New Orleans, I feel this is used because in peoples mind beforehand it has a strong emotional presence and is often associated with many types of genres such as music. The contrast between Stanley and Blanche is immediate, due to their opposition of childhood backgrounds, Blanche coming from an aristocratic background to the less well off Stanley who is a relaxed man with strong beliefs and up until the arrival of Blanche he knew the true meaning of living(loving and caring for those you love) which when Blanche arrived made him take out his stress on Stella. There is already a lot of things to take in for the audience, even though it can be broken down quite simply, they soon realise the contrasting opposites of Blanche and Stanley and the current and future rifts it is likely to cause between Stanley and Stella. We see that Stella is becoming the middle link between these two characters. On top of the contrast between Stanley and Stella there is now an extra aspect of Blanche s true deception. This is first shown when Blanche, who is offered whiskey from Stanley, comments that she does not like to touch a glass, even though the audience have clearly seen her drink a glass alone while Stanley is not in the room. • 14. Browning s Sonnet 13, By Elizabeth Barrett Browning In Sonnet 13 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the beloved wants the speaker to transcribe the feelings that she has for him in a sonnet. However, even though she knows that her feelings are real, she is not yet comfortable with declaring her love in such a way. In her sonnet, Browning compares what she is feeling to a lit torch in rough winds: And hold the torch out, while the winds are rough, / Between our faces, to cast light on each? / I drop it at thy feet (3 5). In this metaphor, the torch acts to enlighten what is between both Browning and her beloved. Except, with external forces (such as the rough winds) battling against her increasing emotions, she feels as though she must focus on protecting her feelings. By the end of this quote, Browning drops the torch, thus representing the fact that she can t go through with describing what she feels for her beloved. Ultimately, she tells her love, My hand to hold my spirit so far off / From myself me that I should bring thee proof / In words, of love hid in me out of reach (6 8). Here, she states that she can t go through with risking herself. For now, he will have to settle with silence as his only answer. Simply by evaluating Browning s response, we can see how much she cares for her beloved. First off, she worries about the possibility of risking or changing the strong emotions she has. Additionally, she believes that, given her profoundly heartfelt emotions, she will not be able to accurately depict their significance. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One minute I was at the Royal Palace of Henry VIII and another minute I was in Stonehenge. No matter what happen, I will remember this weekend for the rest of my life. Thursday, we all woke up really early to travel to the Royal Palace of Henry VIII. Our tour guide Heather, gave us the entire tour of the place. My favorite part of the tour was the clock due to the fact it was a 24 hour clock telling which day, month, and season it is. After the tour, we had two hours of free time and most of us wanted to see Henry VIII toilet and all I can say is that toilets during that time was different than the ones now. When we all saw the toilet, all the frat boys decided to go to the maze and we all race find the exit, which took us three times longer since we passed by it three time. At the end, we all admit that Ryan Straub Fisher beat all of us. Following a morning run, I decided to chow down on my first Fish Chips which the fish was so tender and the batter was cooked spot on. After lunch, we were taken on a long bus journey to Holbrook house where we are all going to stay for two nights. Tour guide Heather gave us an etiquette dinner lesson, so they next time I dine with British people, I know what to expect. • 16. Political Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm In global political scenario, December 30, 1921 is, arguably, one of the most important days of the 20th century. On this particular day, an unprecedented history was created; Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), world s first socialist state was born out of the historical Great October Socialist Revolution . In the long run, USSR/ Soviet Union was not the perfect nation by any means, yet it s hard to deny the fact that unprecedented changes happened in the world, directly or indirectly, because of its historic creation, imposing presence, and major league influence in global politics until its ultimate demise in 1991. Like the political scenario, world literature was also changing its face during mid twentieth century, and the issue of communism had become one of the prominent subjects in the writings of that time. Animal Farm, a novella written by a popular 20th century English writer George Orwell, is both an allegory and satire of the socialist state of Soviet Union. His own experience of fighting against the totalitarian communists in Spain in 1938 turned Orwell into one of the most astringent critics of Joseph Stalin and his corrupted autocratic regime in the Soviet Russia. Widely considered as one of the best books of 20th century, Animal Farm is written in simple language but is vastly rich of allegories and satire. I have chosen this literature for my research paper, and I will be using it to argue that even though Orwell criticized the socialist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is not only lack of representation, but denial of struggles, denial of personhood, and strict adherence to binary categories. People who do not exist within well known labels, such as gay or straight, are persecuted, mistrusted, invalidated, and oppressed, sometimes by members of other oppressed groups. When asexual people are represented in the media, they usually are not explicitly called asexual, or their lack of sexual attraction to others is driven by emotionlessness, detachment, or apathy. At first, Wes criticizes himself for thinking he could offer mercy to a convict. It becomes apparent to him that lawbreakers invariably deserve some form of punishment for their wrongdoings. He shakes his head at the bias of the the corrupt jury which would cut [Frank] loose simply because of his infallible reputation. Nonetheless, Wes swears to God that he will penalize his brother despite the county s majority point of view. Obeying and prosecuting the rules should be prioritized over one s image. The fact that the criminal is his own brother fails to persuade his mindset. A lawbreaker will be a lawbreaker regardless of his or her assumed character. Wes is prepared to take the first initiative and perhaps stir up trouble in the community in order to do what is morally right. Both pieces of literature strongly convey the message that one must defend the law. David voluntarily exposes Ted to the FBI knowing he is jeopardizing his brother s life while Wes concludes that Frank is not entitled to mercy and should serve time in jail. These men are in similar scenarios, for they are conflicted by the choice between family or justice. Nonetheless, they feel the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Descriptive Essay About Pigeon Forge The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure happiness, without a single worry in the world. I truly believe this one little trip shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life. The trip to our destination was long, yet worth it. Me and my boyfriend (Tate) had long drive with many ups and downs. About halfway there, stopped in a quaint little town on the outskirts of Tennessee, both of our iPhone maps stopped working. It was perfectly okay though, because it was basically a straight shot to our destination. This long journey was full of excitement and anticipation to get there. As we made it ... Gatlinburg is really where the city yet country atmosphere comes into play. We started our journey passing through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and let me just tell you, it was astonishing. This really exhibits the beauty of the smoky mountains. The rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the allure of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove through because we were on our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium, because we are both fish lovers! We spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking down the streets of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the both of us guided us to our next destination, the arcade! This was without a doubt my boyfriend s favorite part, we spent roughly the rest of the afternoon in here, but we didn t leave our cabin until about 11. There was this crazy clown game where you knock down clowns by throwing balls, and it was extremely addictive. Surprisingly we weren t the only older people in there. After this we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and engaging with the friendly people. Finally we were exhausted, and returned to our cabin. Our last night was ... I just had to wait a few more minutes for the doctor to come in and tell me what was wrong with me and how long it would take to fix it. The results will change my future. The doctor walked in. I quickly ask him, What is wrong with my knee? He replied, Well it is not the worst thing that could have happened, but you did tear your meniscus. This did not come as much of a surprise because I have had people telling me for the past two weeks that something probably had torn, most likely was my meniscus. The news actually came as a little bit of a relief because a meniscus tear was the quickest recovery time. Then the doctor started talking about what he could do to fix it. He worked under constant fire to help save lives and through his courage, many Americans were able to go home and see their families after the war. Another example of courage is the story of Joe Foss, A Marine Pilot who single handedly shot down 26 enemy planes during his time and once had to swim for twelve hours in order to be rescued by American Forces. He was back in the air a few days later. Many of his friends used to say that he had all the balls of any man who walked the earth. The courage he showed after going through such an ordeal like the one he went through exemplifies the type of individual that makes up the greatest generation . Courage was a virtue that was found in most if not all of the men who fought for our country in Vietnam. This book also shows the dark sides of the generation that fought for our country. It points out the racism and ignorance shown towards those of different backgrounds and ethnicities. Although those who served in the military fought their hearts out, they still held the prejudices that they had learned and grown up knowing in their hearts. They treated those that were dissimilar with ignorance and in some cases malice. An example of this is the story of Johnny Holmes.
