Five Best Cities
The 5 Best Cities in Tennessee for the Arts
Owing to its strong economy, good housing market, and low cost of living, Tennessee remains a
popular state for home buyers and sets an example for historic and contemporary Southern culture.
Cities such as Nashville boast centuries of cultural and musical history, while destinations like
Chattanooga are home to some of the best up and coming art scenes in the country. This communities
on this list of the five best cities in Tennessee for the arts offer something for everyone from old
school bluegrass lovers to artistic trend setters.
Nashville
It should be no surprise to see Nashville topping the list of the best cities in Tennessee for the arts.
Home to the iconic Grand Ole Opry and the stomping grounds of music titans like Garth Brooks and
Willie Nelson, this capital of country also contains burgeoning punk, rock, and indie communities and
was named the Best Music Scene in 2011 by Rolling Stone Magazine. More classically minded
residents can enjoy the Nashville Opera at the Noah Liff Opera Center or the Nashville Symphony at
the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, an award winning example of New Classical architecture.

The Meaning of Abstract Art
There are generally two types of paintings representational and abstract. While representational
painting portrays recognizable objects, abstract painting does not look like a particular object. Instead,
abstract art is made up of designs, shapes and colors. (http://www.harley.com/art/abstract art/ ) The
meaning of abstract art is, in its most simplified form, art that relies on the emotions of the artist and
the elements of design rather than exact representation. This broad definition allows artists almost
unlimited freedom of expression. Some abstract artists create compositions that have no precedent in
nature. Other abstract artists work from nature and then interpret their subjects in a
nonrepresentational manner. In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in Fernand Leger s The City, (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/nayoung3/city.jpg), the artist
shows a primitive, birds eye view of a busy city. We can see in the middle of the painting there is some
kind road and there are simplified people scattered throughout the painting, composed of geometric
forms. The effect is one of confusion and over stimulation, like one might feel during rush hour.
However, the painting does not show an actually street filled with cars and pedestrians. It gives the
viewer the feeling of a bustling streetscape, without actually portraying it.
Using the same principles that portrayed the bustling of a landscape, abstract artists can show
movement, even movement that is not real. An example of this is Umberto Boccioni s Unique Forms
of Continuity in Space. This is a great example of abstract art. This bronze sculpture seems to gliding
in space. Umberto, a futurist, projected his own beliefs and tried to capture the future that maybe one
day we would be in space. (http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/avp/cas/fnart/art/20th/sculpture/boccioni02.jpg)
The sculpture is almost recognizable as a figure, but Boccioni was more concerned with showing
movement than man, so the form is distorted and stretched. This sense of movement adds another
dimension to the meaning of abstract art, as an

Patient Care Technicians ( Pct )
Patient care technicians (PCT s), formally known as nursing assistants, are the backbone to any
nursing department. They create rapport with the patients and family members, as well as the nursing
and medical staff. Some of the tasks PCT s are responsible for include: obtaining and recording vital
signs, collecting and labeling specimens, blood glucose specimen, and obtaining electrocardiograms
(ECG). All these tasks are important and critical in an emergency. PCT s designated to work in
medical surgical floors may not remember the steps for obtaining a good ECG reading. Like the
saying goes: if you don t use it, you lose it. The most common reason ECG s are misinterpreted is due
to incorrect lead placement. PCT s in critical settings such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Electrode Lead Placement Electrodes must be placed in the correct landmarks to prevent
misinterpretation of the ECG. If the electrodes are placed incorrectly, the ECG may read as ST
changes, electrical axis, location of bundle branch blocks and location of infarcts (Riddle, 2008, para.
5). During the ECG, a total of 10 electrodes are applied to the patient. Six electrodes (V1 V6) are
placed on the anterior chest in the proper anatomical landmarks, and these leads must be placed
precisely for an accurate ECG interpretation. Electrodes V1 and V2 are placed on the fourth
intercostal space with V1 on the right and V2 on the left (Riddle, 2008). Electrodes V3 V6 are placed
on the left chest wall on the fifth intercostal space in the following order: V3 to the right of V4, V4 at
the midclavicular line, V5 to the right of V6, V6 to the midaxillary line (Riddle, 2008). The remaining
four electrodes are placed on both upper and lower extremities without touching the chest.
Objectives for PCT Workshop on ECG placement
The PCT will be able to demonstrate correct lead placement
The PCT will be able to troubleshoot the ECG machine and obtain missing equipment

Faulkner s The Sun Goes Down On Summer
Days of adventuring through the park, beams of molten gold radiating through the gap in the forest
canopy and splashing onto the ground, transition into days of weaving through flooded hallways.
Evenings spent under a vast blanket of sky painted pink and orange with smeared brush strokes distort
into late nights hunched over a computer. Fingers fly across the keyboard, scrambling to put the
finishing touches on a paper due the following day. As sun kissed skin lightens, I transform into the
person people expect me to be. Reading The Sun Goes Down on Summer brought to light the
insecurities and inhibitions I experience each year as summer draws to a close, such as, pretending to

I change as soon as I walk through those doors (30). It wasn t until recently that I ve not felt as if I was
under the requirement to evolve into a materialistic copy similar to all of the girls in school, difference
being frowned upon and rejected. I had my mind set on chipping away at, what I believed to be, the
imperfect details. Little did I know, those flaws of mine are what make up the unique individual that I
am today. I was so focused on becoming the person others wanted me to be that I neglected to notice
how important it was that I stay true to myself and my interests. However, I still have my fair share of
daily struggles with anxiety. Feelings of self inadequacy bombard my mind, continually leading me to

to let this negative energy run its course, instead of covering it up and shoving it away. Being mindful
of the aspects of my life I am insecure in, I have been able to shift self deprecation into an opportunity
to be kinder to myself. When I begin to notice myself feeling inadequate, I have acquired the skill to
dwell on it or to simply, let it go. I am devoting this school year to shedding my skin of insecurity,
becoming more in tune with myself, and being unphased of opinions from other individuals. I believe
this year will be a great one. I am eager to expand my knowledge, witness my mental growth, and

Isolation Of Holden Caulfield
Imagine being a depressed teenager who just got expelled from boarding school, and on the verge of a
mental breakdown. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, follows the life of a depressed six foot
two and a half inch, partially gray haired, and woefully angular sixteen year old Holden Caulfield.
Recovering from a recent breakdown, Holden tells his story from a mental institution in California.
His older brother D.B. is a successful writer in Hollywood, and his younger sister Phoebe is attending
elementary school in New York City. At thirteen years of age, Holden entered adulthood because his
brother Allie died from leukemia. Instead of seeing pulchritude, Holden started to view the world as
an atrocious place, populated by phonies who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His loneliness arose because no one seemed to share his view of the world. His friends and classmates
did not experience what he went through after Allie died. Before being expelled, Holden attended
Pencey Prep, an upscale school in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. Holden talks to his history teacher, Mr.
Spencer, about getting expelled from Pencey Prep. The headmaster of Pencey, Dr. Thurmer, claimed
Holden wasn t playing the game of life. Dr. Thurmer gives Holden advice that life is a game. Holden
is referring to the game of life. Despite being from a privileged New York family, Holden feels
alienated, alone, and victimized, as if the world is against him. Thus, he feels no need to follow the
rules. Holden entered adulthood before his peers. He identifies with those on the other side of the
game, and views the wealthy kids at his schools as a bunch of phonies. Their lives are simple and they
do not have to endure pain. He cannot connect with them because none of them experienced the pain
he went through when Allie died. None of them understand Holden. Life is only a game for the people

Essay on Asian-American Stereotypes
Asian American Stereotypes
Overview
Asian stereotypes are a product of prevailing myths propagated by various media, from books, plays,
movies, television, to even historical propaganda. Generally speaking, the stereotyping of Asian
women often swing to extreme types: the docile, subservient sexual object, or the dragon lady. Asian
Americans only make up a small percentage of the United States population and live mostly on the
west and east coasts of mainland United States and Hawaii. Consequently, the rest of the American
population will most likely get their exposures to Asian Americans through television and movies.
Popular media exposure to Asian Americans lacks one on one acquaintance with Asian Americans. It
hinders the process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implicitly, these films warn white women to embrace the socially constructed passive Asian beauty as
the feminine ideal if they want to attract and keep a man (Espiritu). What Hollywood may have failed
to portray about these Asian women is that they are prostitutes merely trying to support their families
by offering sexual services to men whom they see rich. Because they come from poor families and
lack education, some Asian women earn their living by these means, and preferring to sleep with a
man due to his skin color has nothing to do with it. Their financial situation takes precedence over the
act which they are partaking in.
The media is often the only form of culture that many Americans are subjected to. Consequently,
many stereotypes are formed from that medium. These stereotypes include the interfering Asian
American woman that cannot keep her nose out of other people?s business. The Asian woman is also
supposedly sexually active, exotic, overly feminine and eager to please. This character is termed the ?
China Doll,? and appears countless times in popular movies. Hollywood tends to characterize Asian
women as prostitutes, yet fails to portray the hardships these women face such as trying to support
their families. Asian American women are also depicted as passive and indecisive, and often times are
treated as though they want to have sex with white men, even when they are verbally not agreeing. ?
Dragon Lady? refers to an Asian

The Loopholes Of Wal Mart
Loopholes in Wal Mart Management
Introduction of Wal Mart
As the world s biggest retailer, the Wal Mart s history is a story about innovation, leadership and
success. Sam Walton established the Wal Mart in 1962 (Michael, 2009). On October 31, 1969, it was
incorporated and listed on the New York Exchange in 1972 (Michael, 2009). Wal Mart grew from a
single store in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 to the world s largest retailer, which operates over 11,000
retail units under 71 banners in 27 countries (Wal Mart s official website, 2014). In addition, the Wal
Mart employs 2.2 million associates around the world, which equals to the population of 50 smallest
countries combined (Andy, 2012). With its advanced cross docking inventory system, good
relationship with factories, Wal Mart has achieve economics of scale and got a big market share.
Food Safety Problems in Wal Mart, China
Although Wal Mart has achieved success in many aspects, some loopholes arise in Wal Mart
management. Firstly, the Wal Mart is under fire in China for allegedly dismissing four workers who
accused by the company of selling expired food (Hayley, 2014). Food safety has always been an issue
in China; for example, counterfeit baby formula, adulterated pickled vegetables, and counterfeit
alcoholic drinks. In these situations, merchants are not the only one at fault, but also the Chinese
government and the law. In order to attract more foreign investments, some local governments have

My Cultural Aspects Of My Identity
Imagine that you could split yourself in two in order to be in two different countries at the same time
so that you could experience each culture, taste their food, listen to their language and absorb every bit
of information that these two places offer. In my case, this is how my mind and my family gatherings
feel like. I was born and raised in Ecuador but I am also an American citizen. My family is half
Ecuadorian and half American; each has kept their native countries traditions alive within their lives
and homes. I grew up listening to different accents, learning two languages and experiencing the best,
the worst, and everything in between in both cultures. In the middle of this beautiful and confusing
environment I have realized that my dual cultural background has highly influenced my beliefs,
decisions, thoughts and actions. Being Ecuadorian American is an essential part of my identity.
When I was a child, I thought that every family was similar to mine. At that time, I didn´t notice the
cultural differences that surrounded me; and, I didn´t know the implications this would have later in
my life. In Elementary School, as I began to interact with children to whom I was not related, I
realized that while some families were similar to mine others behaved very differently because they
were entirely Ecuadorian. Although my individuality was already being shaped as a young girl, I could
not possibly know how or why. I began to clearly notice this as teenager when I

A Balanced Consumption Of Micronutrients
The purpose of a balanced consumption of macronutrients in foods such as carbohydrates, fats and
proteins is to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which prolongs one s lifetime. However, over 2 billion
people across the globe is developing the obesity epidemic; a preventable disease that can easily be
cured through a healthy lifestyle that consists of careful, considerate choices of foods and an exercise
routine. Obesity is a condition that has accumulated excess body fat, defined by many causing factors
such as genetics, environmental and psychological influences, overconsumption of certain nutrients in
a diet and the extent of physical activity. Although there are various agents, excessive consumption of
carbohydrates and fats and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a disaccharide, the body only needs to attain the straightforward process of breaking down a
two molecule chain of carbohydrates by transporting the fructose molecule directly to the liver to be
converted into glucose to be absorbed in the blood. This then causes a rise in both sugar concentration
in the blood and the release of metabolic hormones, which results in a quicker release in energy and
earlier experiences of cravings. If cravings are satisfied, and made into a habit, a continuous buildup
of glucose stores take place. Although the overconsumption of sugar can lead to obesity, the regularity
status of exercise and other nutrients present in foods, such as carbohydrates and fats, are equally as
responsible for the clumps of excess body fat if over consumed.
Carbohydrates are fundamental for managing a pleasant state of the body s health. It is the main
source of energy that is made available for human to be ingested and synthesized, as it yields glucose.
Vital organs including, the heart, brain and skeletal muscles are dependent on glucose as the primary
source of energy in order to function normally. Monosaccharides are the basic unit of sugars as it

Customer Lifetime Value
CUSTOMER LIFETIME VALUE: MARKETING MODELS AND APPLICATIONS Paul D. Berger
Nada I. Nasr ABSTRACT Customer lifetime value has been a mainstay concept in direct response
marketing for many years, and has been increasingly considered in the field of general marketing.
However, the vast majority of literature on the topic (a) has been dedicated to extolling its use as a
decisionmaking criterion; (b) has presented isolated numerical examples of its
calculation/determination; and (c) has considered it as part of the general discussions of profitability
and discussed its role in customer acquisition decisions and customer acquisition/retention trade offs.
There has been a dearth of general modeling of the topic. This paper presents a series of ... Show more

Determining or calculating CLV was done solely by considering specific numerical cases. Researchers
considered a particular setting, with specific input parameters, and computed CLV to use it in the
decision making problem prompting the CLV determination. In this paper, a systematic general
approach to the computation of CLV is offered. General mathematical models are provided to
calculate CLV in a variety of typical cases. The major contribution of this paper is that it is less
contextspecific than previous discussions of CLV, and that it provides general mathematical
formulations of CLV, while additionally tying together the specific assumptions underlying a
formulation and, indeed, the formulation. Though not exhaustive, the cases treated deal with the large
majority of typical practices. The choice of cases is based on both a systematic theoretical taxonomy
and on assumptions grounded in customer behavior. In addition to the introduction, this paper has four
sections. First, we introduce a general way to determine CLV. Second, we treat five general cases,
offering a mathematical model to compute CLV in each case. Each general case is followed by a
numerical example. Third, we discuss some managerial applications of the use of a general model of
CLV. As an illustration, we consider an example in which a general model of CLV is used to optimize
the allocation of a promotional budget between Acquisition and Retention. Finally, we offer
conclusions and suggest areas

Although it looks a lot cooler than a big scab, a new tattoo is also a wound and like any other scrape,
puncture, cut or penetration to your skin, a tattoo is at risk for infections and disease. You need to
make sure you are up to date with your immunizations (especially hepatitis and tetanus shots) and plan
where you will get medical care if your new tattoo does become infected. Signs of infection include
excessive redness or tenderness, prolonged bleeding, pus, or changes in your skin color around the
tattoo. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, allergies, diabetes, skin disorders or any
condition that affects your immune system or are prone to infections, you should ask your doctor
before deciding to get a tattoo. Also, if you are prone to getting keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue
in the area of the wound), it s probably best to avoid getting a tattoo altogether.
Avoiding Infection It s very important to make sure the tattoo studio is clean and safe, and that all
equipment is disposable (needles, gloves, masks, etc.) and that everything is sterilized. You can call
your state, county, or local health department to ask for recommendations on licensed tattoo shops, or
to ask about any complaints about a particular studio.
Professional studios take pride in their cleanliness; here are a few things to check for:

what we let die inside of us while we live. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding,
the characters go through a loss of innocence which can be illustrated by the words of Norman
Cousins. Throughout the novel, the young boys are put in situations in which their innocence slowly
dwindles away by being revealed to the born hate inside of everyone. The characters loss of innocence
in Lord of the Flies is shown when Jack killed a pig for the first time, by the truth from the Lord of the
Flies, and the gradual death of the island itself. Jack killing a pig is a scene in the novel where
innocence is lost. After landing on the island, Jack went with the choir to find meat. He went up to
pigs twice before he could bring himself to kill one. On page 74, the author writes, The chant was
audible but at that distance still wordless. Behind Jack walked the twins, carrying a great stake on their
shoulders. The gutted carcass of a pig swung from the stake, swinging heavily as the twins toiled over
the uneven ground...Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood (Golding 74). This passage displays
how once Jack had slaughtered the pig, he showed his accomplishment to the boys and acted as if he
was powerful with his new skill. Before killing a pig, there were two instances in which Jack told
everyone he could kill but did not have the guts to take the life of a living animal. Taking a pig s life
unleashed a side of Jack that none of his companions had seen before. The first kill was a trigger for
Jacks lust for hunting and eventually his loss of innocence. The revelation made by the Lord of the
flies expresses loss of innocence in Simon. During a mirage, Simon hallucinates that the sow head on
the stick came to life and spoke about innate hatred born in all people. The Lord of the Flies says, You
knew, didn t you? I m part of you (Goulding 143). This quote shows that sin is a part of us and always
will be. Goulding made the point very clear by having the Lord of the Flies divulge such a dark
message because he was symbolic of hatred and the devil. The conversation Simon had with the Lord
of the

How Did Artemis Influence Culture
Artemis: An Influence on Culture
You hear the night wind blowing and see the bright shine of the full moon. Walking carefully with
your bow and arrows in hand, you creep up with the rest of the hunters. Drawing your bow, the wolves
get ready to attack, waiting for your signal. Artemis is the goddess of the moon, prophecy, hunters,
virginity, and healing. She leads her pack of immortal hunters, known as the Hunters of Artemis. The
hunters would travel with Artemis through the woods, protecting wild life and hunting. Through this
they helped keep balance like hunters today do. Greek gods and goddesses have greatly influenced our
culture, especially Artemis.
First, let s go through the history of Artemis. Artemis is the child of Zeus, the king ... Show more

Arthur M. Schlesinger says that Science and technology revolutionize our lives, but memory, tradition,
and myth frame our response. ( Mythology Quotes ) This quote is saying that we use science and
technology to make our lives better, but what we know effects how we accept us. I think this is
backing up the idea that mythology has a great influence on modern culture. We see how Artemis
especially influences culture through her history, allies, enemies, special abilities, and ties to culture.
So, let s go back to our story. You draw your bow, and, shoot. You make your target, a huge monster.
You keep loosing your arrows until it drops dead. You and your hunters go to celebrate the victory. We
see through the Greek myths that tension can be caused by individual differences. This is not only true
for the Greek myths, but it applies to modern life, to our society that we live in. In the myths we saw
that when the tension rose from the individual differences they would fight, and the people with
individual differences would become enemies. These stories can be fun to read, but we need to take
from them that we can t just fight people when the tension rises from differences. We need to settle
our differences, and not become enemies with people. This doesn t mean we have to be best friends
with these people, but they should become our enemies, we need to love everyone, even if they are

Talk Show Sociology
From the perspective of the content discussed in these shows, there seem to be a push to distort the
meaning of parenthood whereby children can punish their parents thus placing a burden to the parents.
Another symbol that seems to change under the watch of the talk shows is the marital role. In some
culture, the man is expected to provide for the family financially while the woman should plan
everything in the household. However, these shows promote equal sharing of duties and
responsibilities, which may not agree with some cultures. The meaning of divorce has also changed
over time as more viewership of the talk shows grows.
The functionalist sociological perspective assumes that deviance contributes to social order by
initiating social change. As a result, the talk shows seem to direct the audience and viewers to
experience strain thereby end up becoming deviant instead of conforming to the cultural goals.
Additionally, power plays a critical role in ascertaining the behaviors that should be regarded as
criminal or acceptable. By promoting violence to solve minor issues, Jerry Springer uses his power to
drive people toward accepting such behavior and practicing it over time. ... Show more content on

The talk shows play a critical part in promoting social change, whereby more people adopt the
behavior the shows promote and due to the mass support, these behaviors become acceptable. When
the young people are blocked from doing some activities by their parents, they experience some strain,
which in turn leads to rebellion to replace the society s goals. The rebellion leads young people to try
out behaviors promoted by the shows, such as premarital sex, indecent dressing, and violence. The
deviants resulting from watching these talk shows may not be termed as pathogenic people but

Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir Essay
Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir
Film Noir is a French word which means: dark or black film. This is very fitting as Film Noir and the
Maltese falcon are stories of dark deceptive people who often cannot be trusted. Film Noir is a good
example of this as the story is about a detective called Sam Spade who gets dragged into the quest for
the Maltese Falcon with a compulsive liar Kasper Gutman. The Maltese Falcon is a large bird made of
solid gold worth millions. The main six conventions of Film Noir as I can see are
The plot, lighting , dialogue, body language, stock characters and camera angles.

Spade looks as he is the bad deceptive one, this is another twist to the plot. O Shaughnessy is on the
left, the light on her face is very different. Her face is lit up so her whole face is visible, her eyes are
large and she looks very innocent. Light is often projected on the females faces as to make them look
vulnerable and truthful, when is this instance Bridgid is the opposite. Another example is when Spade
is being questioned by two investigators, in this scene Spade sits in the middle of them both so his
face is visible but only the back of the other two investigators. There is only one lamp in this frame
and all the rays are focused on Spade, this as with the others makes him look innocent, which in this
case he is, but with the twists you are not sure.

My First Encounter With Pulleys
Let s talk about pulleys today! I have some pulleys here. Will anyone assemble them? My high school
physics teacher looked around our classroom.
I raised my hand, walked to the front of the classroom and took up a pulley. Bending down, I
concentrated hard on the system in front of me.
This scene brought me back to my first encounter with pulleys in the science center years ago. A voice
echoed in my mind loudly and clearly: Don t be obsessed and carry on! The story of that day started to
unfold before my eyes.
As I walked into the City Science Center, I found the very place which had appeared in my dream
hundreds of times: a large interactive science area. As I had always expected, the science center
included not only topics I was curious about, but also topics of which I had never heard. For a seven
year old, there was a lot to explore and I remember myself wishing I could try them all at once. So
after saying Cheese! perfunctorily in front of my mom s camera, I ran into the nearest exhibition
without any hesitation.
Tired of controlling the flow of the waterfall model with my voice, I noticed some other kids pushing
around small carts. They were building houses! I immediately joined the group. To build a balcony for
the house, I had to elevate building materials to the second floor. According to the instruction of the
project, I was supposed to achieve the task with the help of pulleys. How did pulleys work? How did I
use a pulley? Which kind of pulleys should I use?

Development of Nigerian Labour Congress
BACKGROUND TO THE FORMATION OF NLC Labour organization in Nigeria dates back to 1912
when the workers in the Civil Service under the then Colonial administration organized themselves
into workers representatives. This then became known as the Nigeria Civil Service Union. This led the
way for workers in other sectors to agitate for the formation of Trade Unions before and after
independence in 1960. By 1975 during the Military regime of General Murtala Mohammed, Trade
Unions in the country had risen to over 1000 which include Mushroom Unions. In 1976, the

grew thickened skin on my feet, I bathed in bleach... but still inside me, coiled deep, was the need to
know ... Are you cheating on me? She proceeds to write to her lover, that his infidelity was a wicked
way to treat the girl that loves you. In the following songs titled Don t Hurt Yourself, Sorry, Daddy

Early Life Stages Of Aging Essay
Aging is a biological process by gradual deterioration of the physiological functions and metabolic
processes. (Hilaire Bakala et al 2012) Exposure to stressful situations during early life can have
intense health consequences and is impaired throughout life. However some cases of this impact do
not become evident until much later in life or decades later, when the individuals begin to show signs
of accelerated ageing. (Katherine A. et al 2014). While understanding the relationship between early
life and longevity has important implications in the field of aging, we have still little information
about the mechanisms involved in the prolonged times scales of stress aging. A stress can stimulate
various pathways leading to increased production of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) it is well
known that are highly reactive and capable of damaged many biological macro molecules such as
DNA, RNA, Proteins, and Lipids (Govinda Rao 1989; Tian et al 1998). The accumulation of oxidative
damaged molecules may cause genetic mutation and cellular senescence (Tian et al 1998). Several

An Essay On Ignorance Is Ignorance
Ignorance is bliss. That s how I took it when I used to read biographies of great human beings, where
in most of the cases, people always used to ignore them at the first place until any great invention took
place and they were the hero behind it. That s when I categorized people into two divisions: (a).
people who live to make a difference, great and creative people like scientists, programmers or artists

Terrorist Motivation
Motivation for Terrorist Acts All terrorism is meant to accomplish one thing. What has been popularly
called an act of terror is so termed because the perpetrators hope that they can affect the manner in
which people perceive their safety and the government that is supposed to be protecting them. With
this goal in mind, every act that can be called terrorist in origin wants to have a psychological
component. The success or failure of the attempt can, in one way, be seen as effective depending on
the news coverage of that event and the way that electronic and print news outlets view it. Recently, a
terrorist plot in Indonesia was thwarted which could have done severe damage to the property and
lives of foreign nationals in the region. The plot, which was against a variety of Western targets, was
designed to create the maximum amount of chaos during a small period of time. It will be argued in
this paper that even though the plot was stopped by the Indonesian army and police, it was a success
in creating the desired psychological effect, and that other similarly foiled plots have also been
successful. Taking the second argument first, the Twin Towers in New York were not bombed just one

Masculinity In A Midsummer Night s Dream
The female characters in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream and John Webster s The
Duchess of Malfi mirror each other. The Duchess and Hermia show courage and determination when
standing up to their oppressors. Coriola and Helena, when confronted with authority, submit to it.
Regardless of the strength of the women, however, genre determines their fate those in the comedy
live happily ever after, whereas, those in the tragedy do not live at all. Duchess In The Duchess of
Malfi, the Duchess faces scrutiny and instruction on how she should live the rest of her days. Her
brothers, Ferdinand and the Cardinal, feel that their masculinity gives them authority over the Duchess
s love life, and they want to dictate who she can marry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like the Duchess, Hermia s family also feels that they should control who she marries. Hermia s
father gives her an ultimatum Demetrius or imprisonment with possible death. So will I grow, so live,
so die, my lord, / Ere I will yield my virgin patent up / Unto his lordship, whose unwishèd yoke / My
soul consents not to give sovereignty, (I, i, 79 82). Hermia takes control over her life, and steels the
power her father had over her. She courageously runs away with Lysander, for she will only live life
on her own terms. Furthermore, with her refusal of her father s arranged marriage, she acknowledges
that she cannot be bartered and sold like property, her hand would only be won by someone she
chooses. Instead of showing courage in the face of an oppressor, Coriola acts in a different way. In the
Duchess of Malfi, the Duchess maid does not share her strength and grace Cariola instead crumbles to
a man who tells her what to do. You are deceived, sir, / I am not prepared for t, I will not die; / I will
first come to my answer, and know / How I have offended, (IV, ii, 229 31). Coriola tries to deny her
involvement, and tries to make excuses to save her life. She allows her executioner the satisfaction of
taking her life while she acts scared and powerless she dies on Bosola s terms, not her

The Movie The Blind Side
1 Explain the potential significance of Shirley Temple to The Blind Side.
The relationship between Michael and SJ was very similar to the idea that a small white child had
more authority that a grown black man, that was seen heavily in the Shirley Temple films. This film
portrayed Michael as an unintelligent, little wimp in a way, because of how SJ and Leigh Anne were
the only people to get him to play to his ability. I read an article after watching the film when it first
came out talking about how the real Michael Oher was not happy how they portrayed him in the film.
Like said before they made him seem like a wimp and didn t know anything about football, but he said
that was one of the things he knew a lot about already. Hollywood changed the story to fit the
underdog mentality the America love to root for, but in reality this story wasn t as over dramatic as the
film made it out to be. Making the film portray SJ as the dominate figure when it came to football
knowledge made Michael seem even more inferior to the white characters. The part where SJ and
Michael where training and at the end Michael fell to his knees making him the same height as SJ and
then them fist bumping, showed the physical levels that were being portrayed through film. Michael,
even though he was much older and larger than him, was still on the level in terms of privilege and
status.
2 Does this film suggest progress, stagnation or regression in the projection of African American

William Randolph Hearst And The French Revolution
Since Progressive era was the reformation period, many political and economic changes occurred in
California. To know these reformation movements and other changes, the newspapers played an
important role for the people in that period of time. Then, the more successful in newspaper, the more

such as Joseph Pulitzer and Ida Tarbell. Among them, William Randolph Hearst was the most

Therefore, he was able to manage his own newspaper earlier than any others in his age because of his
family background and the supports. In addition, as Hearst had a great starting point in his career, he
had got success in his newspaper career because he had enough money to spend in upgrading and to
buy many newspaper companies. Leonard describes his success in the media world by hiring the best
journalists and talented writers. So, he could make the Examiner to succeed by spending more money
from his father s mines. Addressing how much he spent for his work, the writer mentions Hearst spent
more than $8 million of family money in his first decade of newspaper work. Moreover, he purchased
another newspaper, the New York Journal, and he owned more than two dozen newspaper nationwide.
According to his profile, the writer said In fact, nearly one in four Americans got their news from a
Hearst paper. Therefore, the more he purchased the newspaper companies, the more he became
influence in that area because more than half of the people in the United States read his newspaper in
that period of time. Furthermore, the yellow journalism was emerged in the late 19th century because
of William Hearst, and that new term helped start the Spanish War. In the Article of Newspaper Wars ,

How Did Borlaug Contribute To Science
Q1 Contribution to Science
A main figure in the green revolution often being referred to add The Father Of the Green Revolution ,
Norman Ernest Borlaug (born March 25, 1914) was raised on a farm close to Cresco, Iowa, by Henry

obviously unbelievably important to the wellbeing and health of the world. If Norman Borlaug didn t
do the hard work regarding GMO that he did the world would be very different. In modern day society
so many foods are genetically modified for example, 92% of all corn is GMO, if Borlaug didn t start
the GMO craze then the world we live in, the food we eat, the way we look and many other things
would be so different. In my opinion without the work of Norman Borlaug our world would be a very
different place and I believe he changed our world for the better and saved the lives of so many

A Critical Analysis Of Efficacy Of Commercial Biofeedback...
A critical analysis of efficacy of commercial biofeedback devices on motor recovery in lower limb
among stroke patients.
A stroke is one of the most serious diseases which threatens public health worldwide. A prevalence of
a stroke increases with age, but it is not a natural part of the aging process. According to Australian
Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) (2013), more than 375,000 Australians had suffered by stroke
in 2009 and 70% of them were more than aged 65. Furthermore, more than a third of Australians
among them had a disability from the stroke (AIHW 2013). A stroke often leaves people with
paralysis, balance problem, cognitive problem, speech impairment and loss of memory depends on
which part of the brain is affected. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several equipment that can examine changes of brain activity, and one of the commonly
used devices is functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI), which measures the brain oxygen
level dependent(BOLD) signal to recognize any changes of brain activity (Cheung et al. 2014). When
the stroke patients were asked to perform active motion of their paretic leg, altered cerebral activation
was monitored compared to healthy individuals (Din et al. 2014). According to Katherine et al. (2014),
both brains of healthy individuals and stroke patients showed an alteration of brain network followed
by learning a new task. Additionally, stroke patients tend to rely on other brain regions to support
motor function compared to healthy individuals (Cheung et al. 2014). This altered activation of the
brain may be a neural strategy to produce performance despite insulted ipsilesional region of the brain.
The processes of motor impairment of post stroke in the paretic lower limb has not been fully
discovered, but some assumptions are addressed by Arene and Hidler (2009). Firstly, descending input
to the spinal cord from the corticospinal and reticulospinal descending tract can be lost or reduced by a
stroke, which leads to inability to produce voluntary movement and reduction of muscle force (Arene
Hidler 2009). Secondly, interruption of descending tract from supraspinal center due to aberrant
timing of muscle activation can cause balance impairment and

Essay about Adolescent Substance Abuse
Adolescent Substance Abuse
Adolescent substance abuse continues to be epidemic in American society it crosses geographic,
economic, gender, racial, and ethnic lines. In addition, more than a decade of national, state, and local
prevention efforts have been minimally effective. It is a major problem that continues to escape our
control.
Nearly 9 out of 10 high school seniors in America report that they have experimented with alcohol.
Within this group, 3 out of 10 report alcohol abuse (defined as the consumption of five or more drinks
in a row at least once during the past two weeks). Three out of four teens report a pattern of regular
drinking, and more than 100,000 children aged 10 or 11 report that they get drunk once a week. ...

Alcohol experimentation increases from 6 to 17 percent between the fourth and sixth grades
In addition to the above pattern of actual use, a time bomb of skepticism and disregard exists in the
value system of today s adolescent peer group. Researchers report disbelief among adolescents
regarding physiological and psychological dangers associated with substance use.
Peer group disapproval of alcohol and other drug use is also decreasing. That is to say, the teens who
use and abuse alcohol and other drugs are feeling quite bulletproof. Those peers who are non users
confront abusers less frequently now about both their behaviors and beliefs.
The picture painted is not a pretty one. Teens are experimenting with and abusing addictive substances
in epidemic proportion, and their primary frame of reference other adolescents are reinforcing this
behavior. The best prevention efforts of schools and communities have not significantly impacted
alcohol and other drug use or the belief system that supports continued use for this population.
Compounding all of the above is the impact of managed care on treatment opportunities for those
teens needing traditional inpatient rehabilitation treatment and reasonable aftercare follow through. As
late as the early 90s, traditional inpatient treatment for substance abuse was 28 days with a significant
aftercare component that allowed for involvement of family as well as teen in treatment.

The Jewish Experience in Venice in the Age of the Ghetto...
.
Searching for the word Ghetto in Longman s Dictionary of Contemporary English, it can be read the
following definition:
Part of a city where people of a particular race or class, especially people who are poor, live separately
from the rest of the people in the city. [...] Sometimes considered offensive. A part of a city where
Jews were forced to live in the past ( LD 678 ).
As a result, the first general definition appears connected with the more specific example of the Jews.
It seems to be particularly interesting, because it gives us a perspective of the idea of Ghetto that has
been transformed and adapted to different realities, but unexpectedly it demonstrates the opposite of
what was the Jewish experience of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, Jews had been suspected of favouring the enemy during the war against Turkish Empire,
leading in this way to the growing of feeling against themselves. Louis Wirth has the merit to have
defined the Ghetto as an historical institution with a social role , and just like that it was. As a matter
of fact, a commercial empire like Venice needed liquid capital and needed to borrow and lend; Roth
suggests an even more delicate consideration, which is the fact that expelling the Jews from Venice, as
it had been decided after the great victory of Christian powers on Turkish force on October 7th of
1571, would [have] strengthen the power of the Turkish empire, as the exile from Spain had done
before them ( Roth 91 ). So ,the establishment of the Jews Ghetto that had been made in 1516 was the
only mean to control the minority of Jews. They would have been also important since they were
useful as merchants and as craftsmen ( another time, the economical decadence of Spain after the
expulsion of thousand of Jewish craftsmen in 1492 served as an example in the making of the
Venetian Laws) . Besides, the Jews community of Venice was a guide and a model in religion and
legal issues, and there were a lot of remarkable scholars and intellectuals ( one above all, Leon

Reducing the Carbon Footprint
The 7th principle of green chemistry states A raw material or feedstock should be renewable rather
than depleting whenever technically and economically viable. 1 This means making use of easily
available, cheap, and non exhaustive resources like biomass consisting of plant or animal feedstock
and/or carbon dioxide to make platform chemicals and commercially viable products instead of our
conventional non renewable resources like fossil fuels, natural gas, and oil. The rising fuel and energy
demands of an ever growing world population in the last two decades have resulted in rapid depletion
of these non renewable resources. These circumstances have forced us to look at other possible
sources to sustain the chemical, fuel and energy requirements of a growing and developing planet.
Renewable feedstocks can be the answer to this. However the major challenge/test in this is to develop
platform chemicals and materials with pathways employing low energy consumption processes and
which would be less toxic. Another important factor is to have a process in which the amount of
carbon that is incorporated into the system is higher than the amount that goes out to the environment.
This difference is referred to as the carbon footprint and if positive can help reduce global warming.1
So if these processes used in making new platform chemicals and materials along with the final
chemicals themselves, can contribute to a positive carbon foot print along with less toxic and harmful
effects

  • 3. The Meaning of Abstract Art There are generally two types of paintings representational and abstract. While representational painting portrays recognizable objects, abstract painting does not look like a particular object. Instead, abstract art is made up of designs, shapes and colors. (http://www.harley.com/art/abstract art/ ) The meaning of abstract art is, in its most simplified form, art that relies on the emotions of the artist and the elements of design rather than exact representation. This broad definition allows artists almost unlimited freedom of expression. Some abstract artists create compositions that have no precedent in nature. Other abstract artists work from nature and then interpret their subjects in a nonrepresentational manner. In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in Fernand Leger s The City, (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/nayoung3/city.jpg), the artist shows a primitive, birds eye view of a busy city. We can see in the middle of the painting there is some kind road and there are simplified people scattered throughout the painting, composed of geometric forms. The effect is one of confusion and over stimulation, like one might feel during rush hour. However, the painting does not show an actually street filled with cars and pedestrians. It gives the viewer the feeling of a bustling streetscape, without actually portraying it. Using the same principles that portrayed the bustling of a landscape, abstract artists can show movement, even movement that is not real. An example of this is Umberto Boccioni s Unique Forms of Continuity in Space. This is a great example of abstract art. This bronze sculpture seems to gliding in space. Umberto, a futurist, projected his own beliefs and tried to capture the future that maybe one day we would be in space. (http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/avp/cas/fnart/art/20th/sculpture/boccioni02.jpg) The sculpture is almost recognizable as a figure, but Boccioni was more concerned with showing movement than man, so the form is distorted and stretched. They create rapport with the patients and family members, as well as the nursing and medical staff. Some of the tasks PCT s are responsible for include: obtaining and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens, blood glucose specimen, and obtaining electrocardiograms (ECG). All these tasks are important and critical in an emergency. PCT s designated to work in medical surgical floors may not remember the steps for obtaining a good ECG reading. I had my mind set on chipping away at, what I believed to be, the imperfect details. Little did I know, those flaws of mine are what make up the unique individual that I am today. I was so focused on becoming the person others wanted me to be that I neglected to notice how important it was that I stay true to myself and my interests. However, I still have my fair share of daily struggles with anxiety. Feelings of self inadequacy bombard my mind, continually leading me to believe that my best isn t good enough. I have, in fact, been steadily working towards allowing myself to let this negative energy run its course, instead of covering it up and shoving it away. Being mindful of the aspects of my life I am insecure in, I have been able to shift self deprecation into an opportunity to be kinder to myself. When I begin to notice myself feeling inadequate, I have acquired the skill to dwell on it or to simply, let it go. Essay on Asian-American Stereotypes Asian American Stereotypes Overview Asian stereotypes are a product of prevailing myths propagated by various media, from books, plays, movies, television, to even historical propaganda. Generally speaking, the stereotyping of Asian women often swing to extreme types: the docile, subservient sexual object, or the dragon lady. Asian Americans only make up a small percentage of the United States population and live mostly on the west and east coasts of mainland United States and Hawaii. Consequently, the rest of the American population will most likely get their exposures to Asian Americans through television and movies. Implicitly, these films warn white women to embrace the socially constructed passive Asian beauty as the feminine ideal if they want to attract and keep a man (Espiritu). What Hollywood may have failed to portray about these Asian women is that they are prostitutes merely trying to support their families by offering sexual services to men whom they see rich. Because they come from poor families and lack education, some Asian women earn their living by these means, and preferring to sleep with a man due to his skin color has nothing to do with it. Their financial situation takes precedence over the act which they are partaking in. The media is often the only form of culture that many Americans are subjected to. Consequently, many stereotypes are formed from that medium. These stereotypes include the interfering Asian American woman that cannot keep her nose out of other people?s business. The Asian woman is also supposedly sexually active, exotic, overly feminine and eager to please. This character is termed the ? China Doll,? and appears countless times in popular movies. Hollywood tends to characterize Asian women as prostitutes, yet fails to portray the hardships these women face such as trying to support their families. Asian American women are also depicted as passive and indecisive, and often times are treated as though they want to have sex with white men, even when they are verbally not agreeing. ? In my case, this is how my mind and my family gatherings feel like. I was born and raised in Ecuador but I am also an American citizen. My family is half Ecuadorian and half American; each has kept their native countries traditions alive within their lives and homes. I grew up listening to different accents, learning two languages and experiencing the best, the worst, and everything in between in both cultures. In the middle of this beautiful and confusing environment I have realized that my dual cultural background has highly influenced my beliefs, decisions, thoughts and actions. Being Ecuadorian American is an essential part of my identity. When I was a child, I thought that every family was similar to mine. At that time, I didn´t notice the cultural differences that surrounded me; and, I didn´t know the implications this would have later in my life. In Elementary School, as I began to interact with children to whom I was not related, I realized that while some families were similar to mine others behaved very differently because they were entirely Ecuadorian. Being a disaccharide, the body only needs to attain the straightforward process of breaking down a two molecule chain of carbohydrates by transporting the fructose molecule directly to the liver to be converted into glucose to be absorbed in the blood. If cravings are satisfied, and made into a habit, a continuous buildup of glucose stores take place. • 14. Customer Lifetime Value CUSTOMER LIFETIME VALUE: MARKETING MODELS AND APPLICATIONS Paul D. Berger Nada I. Nasr ABSTRACT Customer lifetime value has been a mainstay concept in direct response marketing for many years, and has been increasingly considered in the field of general marketing. However, the vast majority of literature on the topic (a) has been dedicated to extolling its use as a decisionmaking criterion; (b) has presented isolated numerical examples of its calculation/determination; and (c) has considered it as part of the general discussions of profitability and discussed its role in customer acquisition decisions and customer acquisition/retention trade offs. There has been a dearth of general modeling of the topic. This paper presents a series of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Determining or calculating CLV was done solely by considering specific numerical cases. Researchers considered a particular setting, with specific input parameters, and computed CLV to use it in the decision making problem prompting the CLV determination. In this paper, a systematic general approach to the computation of CLV is offered. General mathematical models are provided to calculate CLV in a variety of typical cases. The major contribution of this paper is that it is less contextspecific than previous discussions of CLV, and that it provides general mathematical formulations of CLV, while additionally tying together the specific assumptions underlying a formulation and, indeed, the formulation. Though not exhaustive, the cases treated deal with the large majority of typical practices. The choice of cases is based on both a systematic theoretical taxonomy and on assumptions grounded in customer behavior. In addition to the introduction, this paper has four sections. First, we introduce a general way to determine CLV. Second, we treat five general cases, offering a mathematical model to compute CLV in each case. Each general case is followed by a numerical example. Third, we discuss some managerial applications of the use of a general model of CLV. As an illustration, we consider an example in which a general model of CLV is used to optimize the allocation of a promotional budget between Acquisition and Retention. Finally, we offer conclusions and suggest areas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Loss Of Innocence In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies Norman Cousins, American journalist and peace activist, once said, The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, the characters go through a loss of innocence which can be illustrated by the words of Norman Cousins. Throughout the novel, the young boys are put in situations in which their innocence slowly dwindles away by being revealed to the born hate inside of everyone. The characters loss of innocence in Lord of the Flies is shown when Jack killed a pig for the first time, by the truth from the Lord of the Flies, and the gradual death of the island itself. Jack killing a pig is a scene in the novel where innocence is lost. After landing on the island, Jack went with the choir to find meat. He went up to pigs twice before he could bring himself to kill one. On page 74, the author writes, The chant was audible but at that distance still wordless. Behind Jack walked the twins, carrying a great stake on their shoulders. The gutted carcass of a pig swung from the stake, swinging heavily as the twins toiled over the uneven ground...Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood (Golding 74). This passage displays how once Jack had slaughtered the pig, he showed his accomplishment to the boys and acted as if he was powerful with his new skill. Before killing a pig, there were two instances in which Jack told everyone he could kill but did not have the guts to take the life of a living animal. Taking a pig s life unleashed a side of Jack that none of his companions had seen before. The first kill was a trigger for Jacks lust for hunting and eventually his loss of innocence. The revelation made by the Lord of the flies expresses loss of innocence in Simon. During a mirage, Simon hallucinates that the sow head on the stick came to life and spoke about innate hatred born in all people. The Lord of the Flies says, You knew, didn t you? I m part of you (Goulding 143). This quote shows that sin is a part of us and always will be. Goulding made the point very clear by having the Lord of the Flies divulge such a dark message because he was symbolic of hatred and the devil. The conversation Simon had with the Lord of the ... Talk Show Sociology From the perspective of the content discussed in these shows, there seem to be a push to distort the meaning of parenthood whereby children can punish their parents thus placing a burden to the parents. Another symbol that seems to change under the watch of the talk shows is the marital role. In some culture, the man is expected to provide for the family financially while the woman should plan everything in the household. However, these shows promote equal sharing of duties and responsibilities, which may not agree with some cultures. The meaning of divorce has also changed over time as more viewership of the talk shows grows. The functionalist sociological perspective assumes that deviance contributes to social order by initiating social change. As a result, the talk shows seem to direct the audience and viewers to experience strain thereby end up becoming deviant instead of conforming to the cultural goals. That s how I took it when I used to read biographies of great human beings, where in most of the cases, people always used to ignore them at the first place until any great invention took place and they were the hero behind it. What has been popularly called an act of terror is so termed because the perpetrators hope that they can affect the manner in which people perceive their safety and the government that is supposed to be protecting them. With this goal in mind, every act that can be called terrorist in origin wants to have a psychological component. The success or failure of the attempt can, in one way, be seen as effective depending on the news coverage of that event and the way that electronic and print news outlets view it. Recently, a terrorist plot in Indonesia was thwarted which could have done severe damage to the property and lives of foreign nationals in the region. The plot, which was against a variety of Western targets, was designed to create the maximum amount of chaos during a small period of time. It will be argued in this paper that even though the plot was stopped by the Indonesian army and police, it was a success in creating the desired psychological effect, and that other similarly foiled plots have also been successful. Taking the second argument first, the Twin Towers in New York were not bombed just one time. In the early 1990 s they were subject to a relatively small explosion (relative to what happened in 2001) with a larger plot doused by police. The relationship between Michael and SJ was very similar to the idea that a small white child had more authority that a grown black man, that was seen heavily in the Shirley Temple films. This film portrayed Michael as an unintelligent, little wimp in a way, because of how SJ and Leigh Anne were the only people to get him to play to his ability. I read an article after watching the film when it first came out talking about how the real Michael Oher was not happy how they portrayed him in the film. Like said before they made him seem like a wimp and didn t know anything about football, but he said that was one of the things he knew a lot about already. Hollywood changed the story to fit the underdog mentality the America love to root for, but in reality this story wasn t as over dramatic as the film made it out to be. Making the film portray SJ as the dominate figure when it came to football knowledge made Michael seem even more inferior to the white characters. The part where SJ and Michael where training and at the end Michael fell to his knees making him the same height as SJ and then them fist bumping, showed the physical levels that were being portrayed through film. Michael, even though he was much older and larger than him, was still on the level in terms of privilege and status. 2 Does this film suggest progress, stagnation or regression in the projection of African American images in ... A stroke is one of the most serious diseases which threatens public health worldwide. A prevalence of a stroke increases with age, but it is not a natural part of the aging process. According to Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) (2013), more than 375,000 Australians had suffered by stroke in 2009 and 70% of them were more than aged 65. Furthermore, more than a third of Australians among them had a disability from the stroke (AIHW 2013). There are several equipment that can examine changes of brain activity, and one of the commonly used devices is functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI), which measures the brain oxygen level dependent(BOLD) signal to recognize any changes of brain activity (Cheung et al. 2014). When the stroke patients were asked to perform active motion of their paretic leg, altered cerebral activation was monitored compared to healthy individuals (Din et al. 2014). According to Katherine et al. (2014), both brains of healthy individuals and stroke patients showed an alteration of brain network followed by learning a new task. Additionally, stroke patients tend to rely on other brain regions to support motor function compared to healthy individuals (Cheung et al. 2014). This altered activation of the brain may be a neural strategy to produce performance despite insulted ipsilesional region of the brain. The processes of motor impairment of post stroke in the paretic lower limb has not been fully discovered, but some assumptions are addressed by Arene and Hidler (2009). Firstly, descending input to the spinal cord from the corticospinal and reticulospinal descending tract can be lost or reduced by a stroke, which leads to inability to produce voluntary movement and reduction of muscle force (Arene Hidler 2009). Secondly, interruption of descending tract from supraspinal center due to aberrant timing of muscle activation can cause balance impairment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nearly 9 out of 10 high school seniors in America report that they have experimented with alcohol. Within this group, 3 out of 10 report alcohol abuse (defined as the consumption of five or more drinks in a row at least once during the past two weeks). Researchers report disbelief among adolescents regarding physiological and psychological dangers associated with substance use. Peer group disapproval of alcohol and other drug use is also decreasing. That is to say, the teens who use and abuse alcohol and other drugs are feeling quite bulletproof. Those peers who are non users confront abusers less frequently now about both their behaviors and beliefs. The picture painted is not a pretty one. Teens are experimenting with and abusing addictive substances in epidemic proportion, and their primary frame of reference other adolescents are reinforcing this behavior. The best prevention efforts of schools and communities have not significantly impacted alcohol and other drug use or the belief system that supports continued use for this population. Louis Wirth has the merit to have defined the Ghetto as an historical institution with a social role , and just like that it was. As a matter of fact, a commercial empire like Venice needed liquid capital and needed to borrow and lend; Roth suggests an even more delicate consideration, which is the fact that expelling the Jews from Venice, as it had been decided after the great victory of Christian powers on Turkish force on October 7th of 1571, would [have] strengthen the power of the Turkish empire, as the exile from Spain had done before them ( Roth 91 ). So ,the establishment of the Jews Ghetto that had been made in 1516 was the only mean to control the minority of Jews. Reducing the Carbon Footprint The 7th principle of green chemistry states A raw material or feedstock should be renewable rather than depleting whenever technically and economically viable. 1 This means making use of easily available, cheap, and non exhaustive resources like biomass consisting of plant or animal feedstock and/or carbon dioxide to make platform chemicals and commercially viable products instead of our conventional non renewable resources like fossil fuels, natural gas, and oil. The rising fuel and energy demands of an ever growing world population in the last two decades have resulted in rapid depletion of these non renewable resources. These circumstances have forced us to look at other possible sources to sustain the chemical, fuel and energy requirements of a growing and developing planet. Renewable feedstocks can be the answer to this. However the major challenge/test in this is to develop platform chemicals and materials with pathways employing low energy consumption processes and which would be less toxic. Another important factor is to have a process in which the amount of carbon that is incorporated into the system is higher than the amount that goes out to the environment. This difference is referred to as the carbon footprint and if positive can help reduce global warming.1 So if these processes used in making new platform chemicals and materials along with the final chemicals themselves, can contribute to a positive carbon foot print along with less toxic and harmful effects ...
