Contextual Theory. The Overall Purpose Of This Brief Paper
Contextual Theory The overall purpose of this brief paper is to characterize the main concepts, main
techniques, and any current research that supports contextual therapy in relation to contextual theory.
While the purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories not addressed
in class sessions, contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family therapy in
prior literature) is not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan Boszormenyi
Nagy s contextual theory. In his determination that there is more to understanding an individual s
challenges in relation to others, Boszormenyi Nagy designed contextual therapy to draw attention to
his empirically based findings from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client experiences
the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy stretches facts to
include those details about world views that are a product of our own created reality that is culminated
by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into what family they are born
into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each other around that child, such
that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could create for the child a fact that
unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since
there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present, contextual therapy accounts for facts that
may be present that the client may not be able to bring to their conscience or that they may be
unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte,
2011).
Psychology. The functioning of the person within was also heavily regarded by Boszormenyi Nagy,
such that his reflections from psychoanalytical theories would illuminate the need to connect the parts
of the individual psyche: cognitive abilities; emotional functioning; instinctual drives; internal
conflicts; moral and intellectual development; and concepts of object relations theory

The Sports Career of Sammy Sosa
Sammy Sosa was a baseball player for the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and the Chicago White Sox.
Sammy Sosa gave the nation a lot of entertainment with the competition he had with another baseball
player. He had his reputation ruined, but never did give up baseball. Even though he did not win the
bet, Sammy was not a sore loser. Sammy Sosa was the right fielder for the Chicago Cubs who had hit
more than 100 home runs in 2 seasons. (http://search.ebscohost.com) Sammy s mom, Mireya Sosa,
was born in the Dominican Republic, and she couldn t work for herself, all the money went to her
family. She married at a young age, but it ended in a divorce. She took her son Louis, and left to find a
job. She later on took the job as a maid. Sammy was the fifth child, and he got the nickname Mikey
from his grandmother. Sammy s stepfather had died of massive bleeding in the brain. He had worked
for his family ever since then, and he never did give up. Even though he did not have a mitt or ball,
Sammy had used a milk carton as a mitt, and rolled up socks as the ball. (Susan Korman 13 14)
Sammy had played with two American leagues, then a national league. He had first played with the
Texas rangers which was his first American league team, then he went to the Chicago White Sox. His
first and only national league team was the Chicago Cubs. He then played with the Baltimore Orioles
for one season. Then, he went back to the Texas Rangers in June. After that he had retired that month.

A Brief History of Harriet Jacobs
As a slave and as a runaway, Harriet Jacobs suffered more psychological abuse than physical abuse.
Harriet Jacobs had to withstand massive amounts of pain and psychological torture due to her place in
society as a slave. Jacobs does not leave out the physical aspect of the suffering, however, she focuses
more on the spiritual and emotional aspect of the slavery age. Although Jacobs had a relatively easy
life in comparison to other slaves, she was deprived from basic human rights and necessities,
witnessed human beings resolve to corruption and be treated like animals, and is sexually abused. The
mental scars left behind are very harsh. Harriet Jacobs was deprived from basic human rights and
necessities. Since Jacobs grew up in a society were African Americans were inferior, they were
objectified rather than be treated in a humane matter. Slaves were taken away the idea that they were
human. ...they thought he had spoiled his children, by teaching them to feel that they were human
beings. This was blasphemous doctrine for a slave to teach; y presumptuous in him, and dangerous to
the masters. (Pg. 12). Jacobs describes how slave owners declared slaves who tried and spread the idea
that they were worth something in society, dangerous and immediately took violent action against
them to suppress those thoughts. This was dangerous to the slave owners because they believed that
rebellion might be initiated. Jacobs was psychologically affected by this, because she was

Valuing Uluru As An Aboriginal Cultural Landscape
Title: Valuing Uluru as an Aboriginal Cultural Landscape
By Eliya El Khoury
Heritage and its management assessment 1
Macquarie University
Introduction The United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) (2012),
define cultural landscape as cultural properties that represent the combined works of nature and of
man. It is a broad concept that can be referred to as the appearance of the earth s surface, and its
depiction in arts, human cultures and general territories (Steve Hoelscher 2007, p. 76). There exist
many cultural landscapes that represent different regions from around the world, and to date there are
88 cultural landscapes and 4 trans boundary properties on the world heritage list (UNESCO) (n.d.).
Uluru, formerly known as Ayers rock, is a dome shaped sandstone monolith located in the Uluṟu Kata
Tjuṯa National Park in the Northern Territory state of Australia (UNESCO) (n.d.). It traditionally lies
in the aboriginal lands of the Anangu people. Uluru was added to the world heritage list year 1987,
and was classified as a cultural landscape due to its rock formations, caves, water springs, fauna and
flora and its ancient aboriginal paintings.
Uluru is a very scenic location; the rock itself is notable to its color alteration according to the time of
day. Uluru is also home to a great number of plants, birds and animals, even though it lies in a desert
environment (Australian Department of the Environment, Parks

Asch Line Experiment Paper
Taking each of these experiments into mind, my research group, consisting of Brian Muriithi, Cade
Curran, Champlin Janz, Eric Altilanochir, and myself, decided to conduct the same study in 1951 with
our own Asch Line experiment. The purpose of our experiment was similar to the one of Asch s in
1951: to examine the extent of the effect social pressure from the majority of a group has on a person.
For this experiment, we drew a series of three different lines on different sheets of poster paper. Two
lines were similar, while one was radically different from the rest. For each trial, we would place two
confederates, which are stooges that have prior knowledge of the experiment to help us collect data, in
a room with a single participant. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hypothesized that there would in fact be a relationship between the answers the confederates
would give, and the responses and behavior of the participants themselves. And if there were no
correlation between the two variables, then our null hypothesis would be accepted. Our experiment s
results also could have been affected by a myriad of confounding variables (factors we couldn t factor
for): gender of liars, race of liars, grade of liars, reputation of liars, confidence of liars, diction used by
liars, different liars in between trials, relationship between test subject and liars, the liars coming in
from a separate room, sunlight in the room (Small, but still potentially significant), unorganized
feeling of the room, two upperclassmen conducting the experiment on underclassmen, sight variation
between speed of questions and diction, changing incorrect answers of lead liars, changing entrance
time between liars, test subjects together in a room before experiment, test subjects from same
advisory. The time in which we conducted the experiment, right before prep academy lunch, may have
also had an effect on

A Comparison Of A Doubt And Strangers On A Train
In Shadow of A Doubt, the audience is hit with a thriller about Young Charlie who shares the name of
her favorite uncle, whom she has a special bond with. She feels that her handsome uncle is the only
one that understands her and makes her feel bigger than the small town she lives in. However, when
Uncle Charlie arrives, things start changing between the two Charlies. A series of unusual clues
connecting to the Merry Widow Murderer are very similar to her Uncle Charlie and his nice,
charming, loving behavior changes to something more sinister. Young Charlie starts to find out that
her charming uncle that she loves very dearly is not what he seems to be. While feeling broken, she
realizes that her life might be in danger. Throughout the film, the audience can see different visual
styles of Hitchcock like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two movies have two characters that have light vs dark. For example, the two characters on
Strangers on A Train, Bruno and Guy, are two men who are supposedly total opposites. This is very
similar to the two Charlies in Shadow of a Doubt. They share the same message, while both of the
characters in both stories are linked to the world of darkness and death. Just like Shadow of a Doubt,
there are two women wearing glasses and a pair of drinks that are doubles. In the beginning of the
story, it had its moments of doubling. It also shares the theme of psychological and sexual pathologies,
stated in The Art of Alfred Hitchcock. The idea of the Guy Bruno homosexual engagement is daring
for its time. This helps the narrative s broader reference of the theme of two aspects of one personality.
Guy didn t share the feelings Bruno had for Guy. Bruno came across as obsessed. This is different
from Shadow of a Doubt, but the psychological idea was there. The two men symbolize balancing
features of human

The Growing Concerns And Uncertainties Over Joshua s...
The growing concerns and uncertainties over Joshua s leadership spiraled in Deuteronomy, and God
ordered Moses to encourage Joshua. The result is an abundance of inspiring texts that Joshua surely
needed (Angel, 2009):
Joshua son of Nun, who attends you, he shall enter it. Imbue him with strength, for he shall allot it to
Israel (Deuteronomy 1:38).
Give Joshua his instructions, and imbue him with strength and courage, for he shall go across at the
head of this people, and he shall allot to them the land that you may only see (Deuteronomy 3:28).
Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: Be strong and resolute, for it is you
who shall go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their fathers to give them, and it is
you who shall apportion it to them (Deuteronomy 31:7).
And He charged Joshua son of Nun: Be strong and resolute: for you shall bring the Israelites into the
land that I promised them on oath, and I will be with you (Deuteronomy 31:23).
These fears are carried over into the Book of Joshua. After Moses died, God encouraged Joshua to be
strong and resolute three times in four verses (Angel, 2009):
Be strong and resolute, for you shall apportion to this people the land that I swore to their fathers to
assign to them. But you must be very strong and resolute to observe faithfully all the Teaching that My
servant Moses enjoined upon you . . . . I charge you: Be strong and resolute; do not be terrified or

Analysis Of Dave Barry s Anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice...
Do you hate littering? Don t you hate when you go to a nice beach and you see trash all over? Dave
Barry s anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice Guys is a high level of comedy that uses a personal issue
and exaggerates it to reveal universal truth about littering. The author uses comic
characters/caricatures and hyperboles. First, the author used a lot of hyperboles. For example, on page
326, I HATE littering. I hate it when you go to a park or the beach and the day is suddenly destroyed
by the arrival of The Picnic People from Hell. This situation was exaggerated with humor to express
the narrator s hatred for littering. Another example of a hyperbole is on page 325, They just WALK
AWAY from what looks like the scene of a tragic dumpster explosion. This quote is expressing the
how big of a mess they left. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, on page 326, Captain Tidy is a concept I have fantasized about for many years. He is a
masked avenger for the forces of neatness. When a person litters, Captain Tidy comes swooping out of
nowhere and explains to the litterer, in polite terms, that he or she is being a jerk. Captain Tidy is a
caricature in this passage. He is a character that the narrator made up so he could have some fun but
also tell people to pick up their trash. The narrator and his friend would dress up in their costumes and
go out in public to stop people from littering. The reason why Captain Tidy is considered a caricature
is because he is a made up character. Another example of a caricature is on page 326, But if I knew
that if Captain Tidy had a SIDEKICK, a LARGE sidekick, a large, TRAINED OPTOMETRIST
sidekick, that would be a whole different story. And thus Jeff and I became Captain Tidy and Neatness
Man. The other caricature in this passage is Neatness Man. Just like Captain Tidy, Neatness Man is not
real. He is also a made up character to try to get people to stop

Different Methods For Harmonic Distortion
INTRODUCTION
Different detection methods for harmonic distortion already exist, but the following shortage make
them did not reflect fully the influence of harmonic on distribution system [4]: Don t consider the
progressive effect of harmonic current on the energy dissipation in distribution system. Don t
distinguish the direction of harmonic distortion. Does the customer with nonlinear Loads pollutes the
distribution system or the utility background harmonic pollutes the customer with linear loads?
Harmonics represents a financial lamb to customers who do not generate them, so the harmonic
distortion penalty should be inclusive in a utility s rate structure.
In the present, the tariff of the electrical energy is based on the traditional concepts of active, reactive,
and apparent power, and related power factor. These concepts are well defined for sinusoidal
conditions. Unfortunately, in non sinusoidal conditions, these traditional definitions of power
component are not reliable anymore.
The paper concerns with this matter, and aims towards the development of an adequate method
dealing with the possibility of determining the responsibility of the harmonic distortion through billing
quantities . The authors have presented some research that established the idea of this paper, as
follows: The definitions of power components under non sinusoidal conditions in Ref. [2], which
include some parameters for the correct attribution of responsibility between customers and

Differences Between The Princess Bride Book And Movie
The Princess Bride: Film Versus Novel
The novel The Princess Bride by William Goldman was published in 1973. The movie The Princess
Bride directed by Rob Reiner, released in 1987, Starred Cary Elwes as Westley and Robin Wright as
Buttercup. The Princess Bride is about the most beautiful girl in the kingdom Florin, Buttercup, who
falls in love with her farm boy, Westley. After Westley goes missing, Buttercup becomes engaged to
the prince, Humperdinck, by force. Buttercup is kidnapped by, a sicilian named vizzini, a giant Turk,
named Fezzik, and champion swordsman, named Inigo. She is reunited with Westley but is unable to
escape her engagement until she is finally saved. The Princess Bride movie, made very few changes to
the characters, plot, and theme of the novel. The plot of the movie is the same, and is in the same
order, as the book. In the movie Westley goes missing, Buttercup is kidnapped, and Westley saves her
from marrying Humperdinck. This is identical to the book, even the side plots in the movie are similar.
They took out the sequence when Inigo and Fezzik go to save Westley. In the book Fezzik and Inigo

interjections he says that life isn t fair. It s just fairer than death... (Goldman, 358). This conveys the
theme that life is not like it is in fairytales. In the movie a similar line is spoken by Westley. Before
Buttercup realizes it is Westley who is saving her he says, Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says
differently is selling something. (The Princess Bride). This once again conveys the theme that life is

3. Copy The Existing CSS Into New Stylesheet
If your intention is to create an amazing design, not to copy another design, then you must have some
CSS. Just save those files before editing them. For instance, you may add the following to the top of
your file:
/*
Theme Name: Replace with your Theme s name.
Theme URI: Your Theme s URI
Description: A brief description.
Version: 1.0
Author: You
Author URI: Your website address.

Once you complete this, just paste your existing CSS below, save the files and close them.
4. Discrete The Current HTML
Before starting the fourth step, you must know how WordPress works. WordPress makes use of PHP
for calling and retrieving data from its database. When we talk about chopping up the existing HTML,
we mean that you need to cut and paste parts of your existing code into different files that were
created by so. So, helps WordPress to know where to display them.
To do so, just follow the below mentioned steps:
First of all, open up the index.html file of the existing site,
Highlight all things and copy paste it into the new header.php section,
Just select everything in your sidebar and copy paste it into the footer.php file. Save the file and close
it. Now, choose the things left in your index.php

The Personality Of A Personality Disorder
During many years and even today, society has wonder about some of the personality disorders. Every
time they hear about those disorders people tend to think that there is murder and abuse involve and
that those people are dangerous to society. Since people lack knowledge about the different types of
personality disorders, they tend to lack the ability to deal with those type of people. There has always
been questions about the symptoms, causes, treatment and involvement in society that involve the
Antisocial, Anxiety and Narcissist disorders. We hear about these disorders everywhere, in media and
in everyday life. However, we do not completely understand these disorders to the extent to know
what kind of people live around us.
First of all, the antisocial personality disorder is one of the most common disorder that many people
have the least knowledge. Another name to the antisocial personality disorder is Sociopath. Since this
disorder is antisocial, the symptoms that involve this disorder reflect some lack of involvement in
society. Disregard of right and wrong is one of the symptoms that involve the lack of involvement in
society. Since an antisocial does not acknowledges between right and wrong, the involvement in
criminal activity is common. These people can also be persistent lying or deceit to exploit others,
being callous, cynical and disrespectful of others, using charm or wit to manipulate others for personal
gain or personal pleasure, arrogance, a sense of

Canadian Food Research Paper
4 Canadian food Last Friday, my friend and I were taken to the cafeteria by Mr. Brian and ate famous
Canadian food, poutine, for the first time. Poutine is popular fast food in Canada, and it includes deep
fried potato with gravy and cheese curds. The appearance is not good, but the taste is excellent. I was
surprised to eat my first taste and I want to know Canadian food more. Basically, Canadian food is
mostly a mixture. A former prime minister in Canada, Joe Clark said, Canada has a cuisine of cuisines.
Not a stew pot, but a smorgasbord . It means that Canadian food is influenced by various immigrants
and all in all, the roots are First Nation, the UK, and France. This is some examples of famous
Canadian food, Pemmican from First Nation, Nanaimo bar from Vancouver, poutine from France, and
pancakes and maple syrup from the UK and New England.
Pemmican was introduced to the traders in the early 18th century and then mainly produced by the

There are various theories about the history of poutine, but the most widespread claim comes from a
restaurant in Warwick, Quebec in 1957. The owner is the first one to have served poutine as we know
it today and it has developed in stage and now there are a lot of flavor for poutine with beef and
lobster.
All in all, Canadian food was originated from other countries and have been developed in Canada. It is
commonly said that Canada is a melting pot of cuisines. As one of the reasons for the fact, Canadian
food connects with multiculturalism. As people migrated to Canada during the war, some traditional
food like poutine and pancakes were brought to Canada in the past. As the result, multiculturalism in
Canada was promoted and now food around the world are creating a culture of Canada while
intermingling. Therefore, as multiculturalism is progressed, Canadian food will vary in the

The Impact Of Nitrogen Fertilizer Business
Agricultural practices date as far as 12,000 years with the domestication of animals and crop growth
(National Geographic, 2016). As humans changed their nomad lifestyles to more fixed homesteads,
our population slowly increased to what is now 7.6 billion; doubling by 2033 to 15.2 billion
(Mosttafiz, 2012). In order to feed the growing population, competition for land and resources such as
water and energy (biofuels) to mass cultivate filling starches wheat, rice, corn has always been an
issue. A solution in 1909, invented by Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, called the Haber Bosch process,
which is estimated to be worth around billions, introduced chemically synthesized nitrogen fertilizers
for crop growth. It is also noted that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In September 2016, it was announced that POT and AGU will merge as one corporation, expecting to
generate over 500 million USD yearly (Agrium Inc., 2017). On the other hand, CF has the world s
largest nitrogen plants based in the USA (CF Industries, 2017). This corporation has purchased out
major companies such as CFL (Canadian Fertilizers Ltd) and rights to the UK fertilizer business.
Meanwhile, UAN and TNH follow the market with lower stakes in the business. The key for higher
profits are ownership of nutrient extraction companies and connections to areas with high demand.
This allows the corporations to receive raw goods at lower than market value, as well as export larger
quantities at competitive prices. South America, India and China are the largest importers of fertilizers
(Rohan, 2017). South America is expected to have the largest CAGR (Compound Annual Growth
Rate) due to its growing population and availability of disposable income leading to larger
investments in fertilizers to increase crop yield (Rohan, 2017). Trends show that the cost of ammonia
has tripled within the last decade, making fertilizers a great investment (Madrigal, 2008). POT has

Painting The Exterior And Interior Of The House
Like Claude Monet, colours may or may not be your daylong obsession, but as someone receptive to
the subtle tonal changes you are bound to feel the absence of the same in your surrounding most
acutely. For that simple reason, you cannot simply imagine living in a home devoid of colours.
Painting the exterior and interior of the house
To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the assistance of many
qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional painters in %{city} play a significant
role in improving the quality and liveability of the newly built structure you are about to call home.
The necessity of painting the exterior of the house as well as the interior ones is driven by aesthetic
considerations. But that is not the only reason behind opting for professional wall painting. There are
several other benefits that we hardly take a note of. High quality exterior paint increases the life of the
masonry work. Your house becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature.
Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have considerable social and
cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St John s in Newfoundland and Labrador or
Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so common in other parts of the country. By their colourful nature
you can identify these cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre building in middle
of St John s and Lunenberg.

Nineteenth century American author Edgar Allan Poe is best known for his tales of terror and
emotional poetry. Poe led a very tormented and isolated life full of rejection and loss of loved ones.
His agony is revealed in his poem titled Alone , which was written in 1829 when he was 19 years old.
Poe never meant for this poem to be seen by others; yet, in 1875, 26 years after Poe s passing, the
poem was published in Scribner s Monthly with the added title of Alone . In Alone , Poe reveals he
believes his existence is meaningless and no one would care if he disappeared completely. Throughout
this poem, Poe clearly reveals that he is losing his faith in God and beginning to question the religious
teachings of his childhood. In this poem, Poe uses metaphors to disclose his feelings of losing his
sense of self due to the fact that he believes God is rejecting him. From the opening lines of the poem,
Poe portrays that he has been lost in his own mind for a long time. Poe expresses that he feels ignored
and excluded from everything going on around him. In the lines I could not bring my passion from a
common spring and From the same source I have not taken my sorrow, Poe acknowledges that he is
questioning his faith in God because everyone he loves and cares about has died or abandoned him.
Poe believes he has done nothing wrong, so God is unjustly forsaking him. Poe writes The mystery
which binds me still, referring to his religious belief of committing suicide will

An Analysis Of Consider The Lobster By David Foster Wallace
In his article Consider the Lobster , David Foster Wallace uses the Maine Lobster Festival as a
medium for his argument regarding the ethics of eating lobster. Wallace frames his article as a
conversation just to get people thinking, but a deeper look at his rhetoric shows that he is arguing
against the inhumanities of eating lobster, while doing everything he can to avoid sounding like he is
taking a stance. Wallace starts his piece by describing the Maine Lobster Festival, he provides some
background details regarding the event, but mostly it is description of what he saw when he was there.
He even states that describing is what he is doing with your assigned correspondent saw it all,
accompanied by one girlfriend and both his own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, then he goes into the history of the lobster. He shares fact after fact about how Maine s
earliest lobster industry was based around a dozen seaside canneries in the 1840 s (Wallace 55), and
that the name lobster comes from the Old English loppestre (Wallace 55). At first these facts are
interesting, but upon rereading the article one may wonder, what does this have to do with the
argument? The answer is, nothing. These facts are in no way essential to adding context to Wallace s
moral argument, but rhetorically they serve the purpose to distract and retain. If right after page one
Wallace started criticizing eating lobster, he runs the risk of ostracizing some of his carnivorous
audience, but by just narrating and sharing facts, he delays this argument and continues to capture the
interest of readers as they wonder where he is going with this.
Once Wallace finally does reach his argument, he continues to present himself like he doesn t want to
offend any reader by tip toeing around making a claim. He starts his argument off with so then here is
a question (Wallace 57), both continuing his conversational tone and trying to frame this as a
discussion not a statement on morality. Then at the end of the article he talks directly to the audience
saying, I m not trying to give you a PETA like screed here just trying, rather, to work out and articulate
some of the troubling questions

The Physiological Effects of Pollutants Essay
Introduction
Contaminated groundwater that contains harmful chemicals as the result of agricultural pesticides and
human waste has long been known to negatively affect the environment. However the culminating
physiological effects of these chemicals may trigger a cascade of changes within the Alligator
mississippiensis (American Alligator) population, ultimately causing an ecological shift that is
contrary to the natural course of evolution. Chemicals called endocrine disruptors can affect bodily
functions in a variety of ways. By altering the body s hormonal balance on a chemical level, endocrine
disruptors can result in morphological changes to hormone dependent organs, which could in turn
significantly disrupt the animal s growth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1980, a chemical spill in the area nearly decimated the American Alligator population of Lake
Apopka and resulted in a multitude of negative effects years afterword from which the population has
not yet fully recovered (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998). This is primarily blamed on the long term
effects of endocrine disruptors that were introduced into the system. Either by mimicking natural
hormones and binding to hormone receptors, or by blocking the binding of natural hormones to
hormone receptors, endocrine disruptors are able to alter how natural hormones are produced and used
(Oberdorster and Cheek, 2011). Because hormones are responsible for maintaining many bodily
functions, changing hormonal concentrations will disturb the body s natural balance and produce
abnormal morphological changes to hormone dependent organs (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998).
Morphological Effects on Body Size
For example, thyroid hormones are necessary for proper development of the central nervous system
and skeletal systems. Therefore, changes in thyroid levels would produce morphological changes in
brain and bone tissue. In Lake Apopka, studies have proven that the greater the concentration of
thyroid hormone, the smaller the alligator s body size as a result of skeleton malformation. In contrast,
an increase in the concentration of steroid hormones has been proven to produce a larger body size
(Crain et al., 1998). In another hormonal study,

Victor Frankenstein Film Analysis
Victor Frankenstein 2015
Victor Frankenstein 2015 is a science fiction, thriller and horror film that is based on the 1818 novel
by Mary Shelley. The film was directed by Paul Mcguian and starred Daniel Radcliffe as Igor and
James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein (McGuigan). Unlike other film adaptations based on the same
novel, the film is narrated from Igor s perspective. Igor is a young assistant who is working closely
with his over ambitious friend Victor. Victor is also a young medical student who will stop at nothing
to achieve his scientific goals.
The director lets the film rolls from Igor s perspective in order to allow the audience to understand and
appreciate the emergence of Frankenstein as scientists that the audience knows to ... Show more

He proves this when conversing with Igor in the lab when the latter says, Victor, you promised me that
this was all about life , Victor remarks in awe that it was about so much more than life (Frankenstein).
The film was written by Max Landis and is significantly different from most versions of the same
story (Coming to Life). It attempts to take a third person perspective in order to reflect on the
temperament of the main character, Victor Frankenstein. Using third person narration, Max manages
to vilify Victor s character by shining a light on his recklessness. This is particularly important given
that the Mary s novel allowed the audience to empathize with Victor due to the loss of his family
members and fiancé.
In this adaptation, the writer ensures that Victor is unhinged and carefree but a loyal friend to Igor and
other people in his life. In addition to being brash, Victor is humorous in most of the scenes. This is
implied when Igor pleads with him to rethink the experiments since the police were after the duo.
While his friend Igor wanted to make a world a better place and hopefully be remembered for
inventing new ways of healing the sick, Victor seeks to redefine the meaning of life and death. From
the writing, it is clear that Victor did not really intend to get anybody hurt. His character is simply
deranged and he ends up risking the lives of the people around him. The writer

Calorie Essay
CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
Definition of Calorie
According to Ayoob( 2009), a calorie can be defined as a unit of heat energy that human body use as
energy to produce heat. This energy fuels human body for strength in daily activity. In scientific term,
there are two types of calories which small calorie and large calorie (Nordqvist, 2013).
A small calorie(symbol:cal) 1cal is the amount of energy to required to raise one gram of water by one
degree Celcius. A large calorie(symbol:Cal,kcal) 1Cal is the amount of energy required to raise one
kilogram of water by one degree Celcius.
1 large calorie(1kcal) = 1000 small calories.

2.2.1 Walking vs. Running
Walking is not simply slow running; competitive race walkers can zip by recreational joggers. The
difference between the two is not based on pace. At any speed, walkers have one foot on the ground at
all times, but runners are entirely airborne during some part of every stride. As the pace increases, the
percentage of each stride that is airborne increases; competitive runners have hang times of about
45%.*
What goes up must come down. That s why running is a high impact activity. Each time they land,
runners subject their bodies to a stress equal to about three times their body weight. In just one mile, a
typical runner s legs will have to absorb more than 100 tons of impact force. It s a testament to the
human body that running can be safe and enjoyable.
Walkers have one foot on the ground at all times. Figure 1 below show the walking posture.
Figure 1 Walking Posture
Exercise burns calories. In the case of walking and running, the calories burned depend much more on
the distance covered and body weight than on pace. Table 2.1 shows calories burned per mile of
walking or jogging on the level for people of varying weights (Komaroff, 2009): People who walked
gained significantly less weight than those who

How Does Ee Cummings In Just Spring Relate To Modernism
When I was a sophomore at high school, I had to do a research project on a poet. After researching for
the right poet, I finally found the one who is unique and extraordinary: E.E. Cummings. He was a poet
who hated following traditional poetry. Cummings was part of the Modernist movement, and he
believed he could write poetry that had its own unique shape, structure, and form.
Cummings was influenced by the era of Modernism. Modernism is a literary period that deals with
experimentation. The purpose of Modernism was to create poems that never follow traditional poetry,
it is basically free style. Cummings was keen to Modernism and tried to apply it in his writings. One
of Cummings famous poems is in Just spring. Grumman writes, E.E. Cummings in Just spring, one of

thinking of innocence, the beginning of life, and happiness. Cummings rewrote the poem with
significant changes. Grumman says, First he changed the entire 1916 version s capital letters the
beginning of his practice of using capitalization for emphasis only. He also removed all commas and
periods. To better punctuate his score, he broke his stanzas into smaller ones, some but a line in length.
For instance, Cummings uses the word goat footed in one stanza. In one stanza, he writes, in Just /
when the world is mud / luscious the little / lame balloonman / whistles far and wee (Cummings, in

understand his poems and understand that Cummings added a twist in the poem. Cummings starts off

Television In The 1950s
One of the most popular products in the 1950s was the TV. TV signals were able to reach the most
remote areas, breaking down the isolation in rural America. Besides entertainment, more and more
Americans turned to TV for latest news. As TV s popularity grew, it became integral part of American
life. Most importantly, TV promoted the development of a common culture.
In the 1950s, there were three major networks: ABC, CBS, and NBC. Most television programs were
entertainment shows. Current events and political issues were not a central focus of TV networks. The
most popular prime time TV shows were comedies. Significantly, most domestic comedies depicted
an idealized American family life and disregarded social and political issues such as poverty and racial
discrimination. For this reason, Newton Minow, a chairman of Federal Communications Commission
called it a vast wasteland. However, it was an extremely popular wasteland.
Nonetheless, in 1952 for the first time, TV networks were able to make live broadcast of the
Republican and Democratic conventions from Philadelphia to the rest of the United States. Because of
this, rural residents were able to find out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nietzsche And Buddhism
Both, Friedrich Nietzsche and the Buddha, at least at the level of conventional truth, look at the life
and the world as largely nihilistic and unsatisfying, and search for a solution to the meaninglessness of
their respective cultural situations by turning within and advocating a transformation of our inner
forces and of our outlook on the world. The major difference between Nietzsche and Buddhism,
however, lies in the role of the will in nihilism and its overcoming. For the Buddha, only by cutting
the root of the fundamental will altogether, through the self overcoming of the will to power, one can
step beyond nihilism. The radicality of both Nietzsche s negation and his affirmation of life, on the
contrary, is limited insofar as the standpoint

1939, officially named in 1961 for Marvel, former name Timely Comics, Atlas Comics. Boasts a
Spiderman, iron man, captain America, Thor, green giant, black widow. They appeared in the movie.
The main idea of the film is that Iron Man thinks that super heroes are too powerful for the people to

politics and justice are not equal. He disagreed with Iron Man. Captain America: Civil War is cleverly
constructed, distinctively stylized, and deserves to be called a comic that is not understood. After
watching comedies in class and combining what I learned from the class, I found a lot of comedic
elements from Professor s recommendation Captain America: Civil War . People usually regard it as
an action movie and science fiction movie. However, in the movie, besides fighting fragments, there
are some scenes, which fit into three theories that we talked about in our class: superiority, relief,
incongruity. The enemy planned to revenge and wanted to break up the avengers. He targeted Captain
America. He found that Captain America could not stay out of the winter soldier, who is the enemy of

Influences Of Buddhism On The Jedi-Knight Ideology
Essay 1: Discuss the influences of Buddhism on the Jedi Knight ideology. There is a large emphasis
on the belief of not becoming attached or letting go of any attachment to people, things and places.
Those who practice Buddhism, must try to let go of these emotional bonds. In the original series, Luke
is seen struggling to detach from his emotions. Obi Wan and Master Yoda advise Luke of the dangers
of his strong affections towards his friends and the love he has for his undeserving father. In the end, it
was Luke s passion and love to others that unveils the good left in his father. This shows that love is
more powerful than the light side of the Force. On the contrary, this idea of non attachment was taking
too far and more serious in the prequel series. This impacted the way the Jedi Council were viewed,
because of their immense detachment from all emotional bonds, this led the Jedi s to be viewed as
cold and uncaring. This ultimately drove Anakin to the Dark side, after they used his fear, love and
attachment against him, which poses love and passion as the enemy.
Essay 2: Discuss the influences of Stoicism on the Jedi Knight ideology. The ideology of Stoicism was
brought upon by Greek philosopher, Epictetus. Epictetus was born a slave during the 2nd century A.D.

Cognitive Dissonance Essay
Cognitive Dissonance
How do human beings make decisions? What triggers a person to take action at any given point?
These are all questions that I will attempt to answer with my theoretical research into Leon Festinger s
theory of cognitive dissonance, as well as many of the other related theories. We often do not realize
the psychological events that take place in our everyday lives. It is important to take notice of theories,
such as the balance theory, the congruency theory and the cognitive dissonance theory so that one s
self persuasion occurs knowingly. As psychologist and theorist gain a better understanding of
Festinger s cognitive dissonance theory manipulation could occur more easily than it already does in
today s society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The action taken would create psychological consistency in one s mind. These theories are very
interesting and have been quite researched, but none more so than Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive
dissonance.
Leon Festinger s theory, unlike the others I have described, deal with quantitative aspects, as well as
qualitative. That s what is so different and revolutionary about Festinger s theory. Robert Wicklund
and Jack Brehm (1976), in their book Perspectives on Cognitive Dissonance, write, Most notably, the
original statement of dissonance theory included propositions about the resistance to change of
cognitions and about the proportion of cognitions that are dissonant, both of which allowed powerful
and innovative analyses of psychological situations (p.1). The term dissonance refers to the relation
between two elements. When two elements do not fit together they are considered dissonant.
Cognitive dissonance can be broken down into a number of elements. As
Brehm and Cohen (1962) write, A dissonant relationship exist between two cognitive elements when a
person possesses one which follows the obverse of another that he possesses. A person experiences
dissonance, that is, a motivational tension, when he (or she) has cognitions among which there are one
or more dissonant relationships

of the British Parliament abusing taxation. To further express the colonists hatred towards the Tea Act,
John Green explains in his YouTube video, Taxes Smuggling Prelude to Revolution: Crash Course US
History #6, that Some colonists were upset that cheap tea would cut into the profits of smugglers and

thinking that the British Parliament would back down, but it did the exact opposite. In response to the
Boston Tea Party, the British Parliament enacted the Coercive Acts, known to the colonists as the

Pros And Cons Of Homophobia In America
In America, there are laws and policies to protect the working class. Employers can not discriminate
on employees based on race or gender, although sexual orientation is not covered by such laws. This
leaves gay people venerable to discrimination in the work place or the termination of their job,
because of how they choose to express their sexuality. This venerability caused by the lack of anti
discrimination laws. This puts gay people into a situation that is less stable than their heterosexual
counter parts. As long as a person s intimate relationships do not impact work performance, then a
person s relationship choices, gay or not, should not be a concern to the employer. Homophobia is

uneducated people are having a harder time getting a job, and higher education is necessary to get a

released from the Dodgers. That s the day when Latino American in Los Angeles lost a family
member. In the documentary Fernando Nation, the director wanted to tell a story about the history of
the Dodgers within the Latino American community, but also about the American dream in the United
States of America. The director uses Fernando Valenzuela to explain the impacted he had not in Los
Angeles, but also around the United States of America for Mexican American.
Cruz Angeles, the director, gives the history of Chavez Ravine where Mexican American live for

Examples Of Being Extrovert
My friends in school think that I am just a normal with no life at all. However, outside of school, I
have a whole different kind of personality which is being extroverted. I disagree with my friends in
school that I have no life and have not many friends. In my friends perspective, being extroverted
means being very famous and is the kind of person who stands out from the rest, but for me, it just
means that I can relate to other people by having a kind heart and an open mind. The word extrovert
came from the Latin word extro meaning extra and vertere meaning turn. Having said this, the real
meaning of the word is if the person has an attitude of being friendly, sociable, and talkative.
However, people who are extroverted have a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our vice president told us that you should vote me as vice president. So that day, we voted him as VP.
However, we already doubted his capability of leading the class because of his feeling cool attitude,
rude, and boastful attitude. Having officers like this would not even lead us to nothing. He was a type
of person that will just pass out the fault to other people. He says that its not my fault, it s the class
fault. Obviously, this affects us because we did not do anything then he blames us. There was one time
wherein almost every Chinese class, we would be noisy. When our class advisers knew about this, he
would suspect the people who is very noisy all the time. However, these are the one that are noisy,
even the officers are noisy. Sometimes, the officers or the leaders cannot admit that they did this
because they are afraid to be impeached or such. Having said the points that my friends in school, my
perspective of being extroverted is when a person has an attitude of relating into the conversations and
experiences of others. This also includes having a kind heart and openness of mind. For me, I can act
more freely and more independently outside of school rather than in school. Me and my teammates
bond is very strong. Often, we converse for about half an hour, talking about our experiences in school
and our experiences in the past competitions. This helps us know more about each other. To make our

The Mobile Phone Industry, Like The Internet
Sprint Nextel Merger Introduction: The mobile phone industry, like the Internet, is one of the fastest
and ever developing industries. Since 1994, the production of cell phones has increased from 24
million to 182 million in wireless phone. The market of cell phones in the United States is constantly
increasing and the 162 million users will increase in the next few years. . This tremendous increase is
due to the current and ongoing development of technology and innovation in perfecting the cell phone.
Throughout the history of the mobile phone industries collaborate with each other in order to stay
successful in this fast changing field. Worldwide wireless companies have been cooperating with each
other. This collaboration is due to a lot of reasons that all relate to the firm s attempts to stay
profitable. Wireless companies have the opportunity to get market shares for both products and
accessories. When these companies merge they can then share their markets and products and offer a
good service to its customers. Without working together smaller wireless companies at times fall
victim to the strong competitions and they will eventually become bankrupt and forced to shut down.
Therefore, collaboration is necessary within the cell phone industry to maintain profits and increase
customer base. One of the ways that cell phone companies maintain profits and increase customer
base is through merger or acquisition with other companies to share new technologies for

Jesus Villahermosa Thesis
After reading the essay written by Jesus Villahermosa I believe his thesis statement is Given my
extensive experience dealing with violence in the workplace and at schools and colleges, I do not
think professors and administrators, let alone students, should carry guns . In his second paragraph, he
lays out reason as to why he feels this way and shows that he can be considered an expert in firearm
safety. Giving information into his background reinforces his position and add to his argument against
arming people on college campuses. Some may be surprised that he is against having armed
professors and students on campus because of his background. However, I am not surprised that he is
strongly against having firearm toting professors, administrators and students throughout campuses.
He is properly trained, experienced with firearm safety and marksmanship which in turn gives him
great support to his argument. Villahermosa gave ample reasons to support his argument against
carrying weapons on college campuses throughout his essay. The most persuasive reason he gives
against guns on campus is Will faculty and staff members be prepared to kill ... Show more content on

He gave clear and abundant reasons to back up his argument and laid out many consequences for
having a policy that would allow guns on campus. With colleges already struggling financially a
policy allowing guns would bring even more need for funding to cash strapped institutions. The
training required would be extensive and costly to have competent people carrying and ready to use
their gun if needed. The risks involved in allowing guns on campus seem to be extremely high and
wildly unpredictable. It would make it harder for police to distinguish between the good guy and the
bad guy in a crisis. Schools and employees would be subjected to lawsuits and even imprisonment if
innocent bystanders are shot instead of intended

Descriptive Essay About Friends
Cousins
Are we there yet? I called from the back of our car, Not yet bud. my father yelled over the blasting
radio. Vroom, vroom, vroom. the engine roared as my dad revved up the car. Every year we get in the
car and we head to our cousins house in Utah. I was going to go get some snacks at the gas station. I
didn t even realize how sweaty my hands were until I touched the handle. I swiftly wiped my hands on
my shorts and then hopped out of the car into the blazing hot outdoors. Oh come on I thought when I
landed on the surprisingly hot concrete. I scrambled up and looked around to make sure none saw the
embarrassing fall.
I was relieved when I looked up I realized that it was all a weird dream. My thoughts gathered as I
remembered I was on my way to my cousins. I looked around and I saw that I was in our car parked in
a driveway at a house I didn t recognize. I was very wierded out until I concluded that we. were. here.
As I hopped out nothing happened and I pinched myself to make sure it was real. All clear I said to
myself as I looked in the trunk and nothing was there. Looks like everythings inside I thought to
myself. I dashed to the house and Plop I made when I faced planted onto the concrete. I didn t care
one bit about as I saw my cousins walking to me. I scrambled up and raced myself to them
(Surprisingly I won). I gave them a big o´l Brayden Deluxe Hug and I m going to be totally honest I
might have accidentally squeezed all the air out of them.

Virginia Woolf Suicide In The Waves
Consumed: Reflections of Virginia Woolf within The Waves Virginia Woolf committed suicide just ten
years after the publication of her novel The Waves. Throughout her life she struggled with bipolar
disorder, anxiety, self imposed isolation, misdiagnosis of her illnesses, repressed or closeted
homosexuality in a time when being gay was illegal, and the deaths of many who she cared deeply for.
Louise DeSalvo wrote a book on the life of Virginia Woolf and described the pattern that much of her
childhood followed, Sexual violence. Hopeless sadness. Powerlessness. Horrible depression. Being
dragged down into a pit of absolute despair, from which there was no escape. (106). As she fought

A cathartic moment in The Waves is when the characters learn of Percival s death. Throughout the
book, he symbolizes perfection and stability for many of the characters. He was the person who held
them all together, so when he dies they each must learn to cope with the fragility of life. Neville sits
below a tree refusing to move on and accept the truth that he is gone, Bernard is numb with guilt as he
should be happy for his newborn son but all he feels is sadness for Percival, and Rhoda throws flowers
into the sea for him and contemplates if her own life is worth living. Each point of view evokes
intense feelings of sympathy and perhaps even empathy in the readers, communicating that this
moment is cathartic. At the age of 13, Virginia Woolf also had to learn to cope with life s insecurities.
The sudden death of her mother threw Virginia into her first major depressive episode and devastated
her entire family. Her father was especially heartbroken and Virginia s siblings had to take care of him
as if he were a child. Just two years later, Stella, Virginia s older sister died and shortly thereafter her
father passed away as well causing another mental breakdown for Woolf. Once she was able to
recover, she began her writing career, closely followed, however, by the death of her charming and
charismatic older brother Thoby, that would someday inspire the character of Percival ( The Waves

Confucianism And Daoism Essay
Confucianism and Daoism affected the social structure of early China through culture, education, and
government though the effects varied greatly between these two beliefs. Culture in China is different
due to the teachings of Confucianism that began when Confucius was age twenty three, as well as the
teachings of Daoism because both teachings believed in harmony and living tranquilly. Education was
shaped by Daoism and Confucianism for the reason that Confucians believed everyone should be
educated while Daosits thought it was irrelevant. Since Confucius lived in a time of political unrest
from 551 to 478 B.C.E., he worked to gain political stability whereas the Daosits were indifferent on
that issue.
Culture was impacted by Daoism and Confucianism because the teachings that were proclaimed,
breached on the topic of living a harmonious life filled with respect for one another. Confucianism
especially stressed the idea of reverence towards an older person. With this mentality, it is almost as if
adults are never to be at fault. Fathers were supposed to be revered and loved by the children. Though
Daoism had a certain set of ethics and appealed more to the higher class, both religions promoted a
nonviolent life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been legends dating far ago that Confucius opened a school for children and would charge
the parents based on their individual income this heightened the standard of education and the
standard to hold oneself at. Daoism became a prominent and withstanding religion during the Han
Dynasty and the followers of this religion believed in magic and a mysterious life source. They were
indifferent on expanding and gaining knowledge through teachings from school. In fact, school
systems were established with the aid of Confucius. The Daosits encouraged some exploration, but
were more concerned with living in accordance with one

As part of our disaster recovery plan, we have configured one of the servers as a backup that contains
a complete backup of the primary server. The backup server will be configured so that if the primary
server fails, then the backup server will come online, so that there will be no interruption in service.
Each week we will test the backup server to ensure that all the files are readable and accessible. Then,
once a month we will test the recovery plan creating a failure to make sure the backup server comes
online. We have a choice of using either Windows or Linux for operating system, since they are
already preloaded on the servers we are purchasing. In making our decision, we had to first take a look
at the features that each system provided and which one would be the best for what we are doing.
One initial feature we looked at was how to access the server. Both Windows and Linux offer File
Transfer Protocol (FTP), which would give us access to the files easily, but then Linux offers
telecommunications network or telnet, which would allow us to remotely access the servers from
another location, such as if were not at the office. It also offers Secure Shell (Ssh) that is a program for
logging into a remote machine or the servers to execute commands. Now, Windows can be configured
for telnet, but not Secure Shell.
The next feature that we

Metropolitan Museum Analysis
Since ancient times, humanity has used art to express feelings, emotions, ideas, and much more. Also,
it was used as a medium to communicate between each other. As a result, it is not surprising that we
feel delighted while observing works of art. Now, there are many opportunities to go to museums, and
enjoy the precious art pieces shown there. One of the museums that has a wide variety of art, is the
Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Metropolitan Museum is extraordinary because it displaying artwork from all over the world, and
reveales 5000 years of history through its exhibitions. The museum also shows pieces of art from our
ancestors and our contemporary artists. The mission statement of this museum for the past 140 years is

first labor that Hercules had to accomplish. This particular statue is a free standing sculpture made of
bronze, so it has a smooth but firm texture, and gives spectators the feeling of being in the presence of
a god. Even though the sculpture looks opaque, when it was made, using a casting techniques, it
shined and glowed to represent heroic person.
This research was done through The Metropolitan Museum of Art s website, a very user friendly site
to browse and learn about art. Since everything is well organized, and it has links that can help people
find what they are looking for, it is an excellent source to do research papers. The only thing I will
recommend to the museum is to make videos about the sculpture or rotatable pictures in order to
observe them from all angles. Even though the experience of being in front of a piece of art is
incomparable, the website provides a very realistic experience, and history lesson for anyone

Effects Of Common Law Burglary
1. Has this man committed common law burglary?
Common law burglary is the trespassory breaking and entering of the dwelling house of another, in the
nighttime, with the specific intent to commit a felony therein.
A dwelling is a place regularly used to sleep and Nighttime is the period when the countenance of a
person cannot be discerned by natural sunlight.
A strange man demanded that Amanda let him in her home (dwelling house), at 11 o clock at
night(nighttime) with the threatening gesture of pulling out a gun. Once inside, he took her money,
engagement ring, and left (intent and committing a felony). His crime meets all the elements of
common law burglary, except breaking by actual force. However, several circumstances of entering by
constructive force constitute breaking
Constructive force constitutes breaking when its obtained with: entry by fraud, threatening the use of
force, entry through a chimney, or having a servant or coconspirator open the door from the inside.
The stranger broke into Amanda s home when she declined to let him in the first time, he pulled out a
gun in a gesture to threaten harm. She opened the door out of fear for her life. Thus, a breaking in with
constructive force.
Therefore, a common law burglary has been committed.
2. What result if the incident took place at 3:00 p.m. not 11:00 p.m.?

The Importance Of Tenure In Education
Tenures refers to an approach which gives educators and teachers a lasting contract, viably
guaranteeing them an assurance of work ... forever. Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from their
duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and still, at
the end of the day ending the tenure can be to a great degree troublesome.
Tenure system picked up in the mid 20th century as a method for shielding teachers from being
terminated for the wrong reasons. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or individual
inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to guarantee that
educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of administrators.
Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured
educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to
work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more youthful,
less experienced instructors.
100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection
tenure had its place in the teaching system. It shielded helpless instructors from the political impulses
of their administrators and frame the activity of nepotism. Nowadays enactment gives sensible
assurances and tenure is never again required undoubtedly teaching is one of the main callings to give

  • 2. Contextual Theory. The Overall Purpose Of This Brief Paper Contextual Theory The overall purpose of this brief paper is to characterize the main concepts, main techniques, and any current research that supports contextual therapy in relation to contextual theory. While the purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories not addressed in class sessions, contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family therapy in prior literature) is not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan Boszormenyi Nagy s contextual theory. In his determination that there is more to understanding an individual s challenges in relation to others, Boszormenyi Nagy designed contextual therapy to draw attention to his empirically based findings from ... Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client experiences the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy stretches facts to include those details about world views that are a product of our own created reality that is culminated by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into what family they are born into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each other around that child, such that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could create for the child a fact that unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present, contextual therapy accounts for facts that may be present that the client may not be able to bring to their conscience or that they may be unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte, 2011). Psychology. The functioning of the person within was also heavily regarded by Boszormenyi Nagy, such that his reflections from psychoanalytical theories would illuminate the need to connect the parts of the individual psyche: cognitive abilities; emotional functioning; instinctual drives; internal conflicts; moral and intellectual development; and concepts of object relations theory ... Sammy Sosa gave the nation a lot of entertainment with the competition he had with another baseball player. He had his reputation ruined, but never did give up baseball. Even though he did not win the bet, Sammy was not a sore loser. Sammy Sosa was the right fielder for the Chicago Cubs who had hit more than 100 home runs in 2 seasons. (http://search.ebscohost.com) Sammy s mom, Mireya Sosa, was born in the Dominican Republic, and she couldn t work for herself, all the money went to her family. She married at a young age, but it ended in a divorce. She took her son Louis, and left to find a job. She later on took the job as a maid. Sammy was the fifth child, and he got the nickname Mikey from his grandmother. Sammy s stepfather had died of massive bleeding in the brain. He had worked for his family ever since then, and he never did give up. Even though he did not have a mitt or ball, Sammy had used a milk carton as a mitt, and rolled up socks as the ball. (Susan Korman 13 14) Sammy had played with two American leagues, then a national league. He had first played with the Texas rangers which was his first American league team, then he went to the Chicago White Sox. His first and only national league team was the Chicago Cubs. • 4. A Brief History of Harriet Jacobs As a slave and as a runaway, Harriet Jacobs suffered more psychological abuse than physical abuse. Harriet Jacobs had to withstand massive amounts of pain and psychological torture due to her place in society as a slave. Jacobs does not leave out the physical aspect of the suffering, however, she focuses more on the spiritual and emotional aspect of the slavery age. Although Jacobs had a relatively easy life in comparison to other slaves, she was deprived from basic human rights and necessities, witnessed human beings resolve to corruption and be treated like animals, and is sexually abused. The mental scars left behind are very harsh. Harriet Jacobs was deprived from basic human rights and necessities. Since Jacobs grew up in a society were African Americans were inferior, they were objectified rather than be treated in a humane matter. Slaves were taken away the idea that they were human. ...they thought he had spoiled his children, by teaching them to feel that they were human beings. This was blasphemous doctrine for a slave to teach; y presumptuous in him, and dangerous to the masters. (Pg. 12). Jacobs describes how slave owners declared slaves who tried and spread the idea that they were worth something in society, dangerous and immediately took violent action against them to suppress those thoughts. This was dangerous to the slave owners because they believed that rebellion might be initiated. Jacobs was psychologically affected by this, because she was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Valuing Uluru As An Aboriginal Cultural Landscape Title: Valuing Uluru as an Aboriginal Cultural Landscape By Eliya El Khoury Heritage and its management assessment 1 Macquarie University Introduction The United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) (2012), define cultural landscape as cultural properties that represent the combined works of nature and of man. It is a broad concept that can be referred to as the appearance of the earth s surface, and its depiction in arts, human cultures and general territories (Steve Hoelscher 2007, p. 76). There exist many cultural landscapes that represent different regions from around the world, and to date there are 88 cultural landscapes and 4 trans boundary properties on the world heritage list (UNESCO) (n.d.). Uluru, formerly known as Ayers rock, is a dome shaped sandstone monolith located in the Uluṟu Kata Tjuṯa National Park in the Northern Territory state of Australia (UNESCO) (n.d.). It traditionally lies in the aboriginal lands of the Anangu people. Uluru was added to the world heritage list year 1987, and was classified as a cultural landscape due to its rock formations, caves, water springs, fauna and flora and its ancient aboriginal paintings. Uluru is a very scenic location; the rock itself is notable to its color alteration according to the time of day. Uluru is also home to a great number of plants, birds and animals, even though it lies in a desert environment (Australian Department of the Environment, Parks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Asch Line Experiment Paper Taking each of these experiments into mind, my research group, consisting of Brian Muriithi, Cade Curran, Champlin Janz, Eric Altilanochir, and myself, decided to conduct the same study in 1951 with our own Asch Line experiment. The purpose of our experiment was similar to the one of Asch s in 1951: to examine the extent of the effect social pressure from the majority of a group has on a person. For this experiment, we drew a series of three different lines on different sheets of poster paper. Two lines were similar, while one was radically different from the rest. For each trial, we would place two confederates, which are stooges that have prior knowledge of the experiment to help us collect data, in a room with a single participant. The ... • 8. The Growing Concerns And Uncertainties Over Joshua s... The growing concerns and uncertainties over Joshua s leadership spiraled in Deuteronomy, and God ordered Moses to encourage Joshua. The result is an abundance of inspiring texts that Joshua surely needed (Angel, 2009): Joshua son of Nun, who attends you, he shall enter it. Imbue him with strength, for he shall allot it to Israel (Deuteronomy 1:38). Give Joshua his instructions, and imbue him with strength and courage, for he shall go across at the head of this people, and he shall allot to them the land that you may only see (Deuteronomy 3:28). Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: Be strong and resolute, for it is you who shall go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their fathers to give them, and it is you who shall apportion it to them (Deuteronomy 31:7). And He charged Joshua son of Nun: Be strong and resolute: for you shall bring the Israelites into the land that I promised them on oath, and I will be with you (Deuteronomy 31:23). These fears are carried over into the Book of Joshua. After Moses died, God encouraged Joshua to be strong and resolute three times in four verses (Angel, 2009): Be strong and resolute, for you shall apportion to this people the land that I swore to their fathers to assign to them. But you must be very strong and resolute to observe faithfully all the Teaching that My servant Moses enjoined upon you . . . . • 9. Analysis Of Dave Barry s Anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice... Do you hate littering? Don t you hate when you go to a nice beach and you see trash all over? Dave Barry s anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice Guys is a high level of comedy that uses a personal issue and exaggerates it to reveal universal truth about littering. The author uses comic characters/caricatures and hyperboles. First, the author used a lot of hyperboles. For example, on page 326, I HATE littering. I hate it when you go to a park or the beach and the day is suddenly destroyed by the arrival of The Picnic People from Hell. This situation was exaggerated with humor to express the narrator s hatred for littering. Another example of a hyperbole is on page 325, They just WALK AWAY from what looks like the scene of a tragic dumpster explosion. This quote is expressing the how big of a mess they left. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, on page 326, Captain Tidy is a concept I have fantasized about for many years. He is a masked avenger for the forces of neatness. When a person litters, Captain Tidy comes swooping out of nowhere and explains to the litterer, in polite terms, that he or she is being a jerk. Captain Tidy is a caricature in this passage. He is a character that the narrator made up so he could have some fun but also tell people to pick up their trash. The narrator and his friend would dress up in their costumes and go out in public to stop people from littering. The reason why Captain Tidy is considered a caricature is because he is a made up character. Another example of a caricature is on page 326, But if I knew that if Captain Tidy had a SIDEKICK, a LARGE sidekick, a large, TRAINED OPTOMETRIST sidekick, that would be a whole different story. And thus Jeff and I became Captain Tidy and Neatness Man. The other caricature in this passage is Neatness Man. Just like Captain Tidy, Neatness Man is not real. Different Methods For Harmonic Distortion INTRODUCTION Different detection methods for harmonic distortion already exist, but the following shortage make them did not reflect fully the influence of harmonic on distribution system [4]: Don t consider the progressive effect of harmonic current on the energy dissipation in distribution system. Don t distinguish the direction of harmonic distortion. Does the customer with nonlinear Loads pollutes the distribution system or the utility background harmonic pollutes the customer with linear loads? Harmonics represents a financial lamb to customers who do not generate them, so the harmonic distortion penalty should be inclusive in a utility s rate structure. In the present, the tariff of the electrical energy is based on the traditional concepts of active, reactive, and apparent power, and related power factor. These concepts are well defined for sinusoidal conditions. Unfortunately, in non sinusoidal conditions, these traditional definitions of power component are not reliable anymore. The paper concerns with this matter, and aims towards the development of an adequate method dealing with the possibility of determining the responsibility of the harmonic distortion through billing quantities . The authors have presented some research that established the idea of this paper, as follows: The definitions of power components under non sinusoidal conditions in Ref. It means that Canadian food is influenced by various immigrants and all in all, the roots are First Nation, the UK, and France. This is some examples of famous Canadian food, Pemmican from First Nation, Nanaimo bar from Vancouver, poutine from France, and pancakes and maple syrup from the UK and New England. All in all, Canadian food was originated from other countries and have been developed in Canada. It is commonly said that Canada is a melting pot of cuisines. As one of the reasons for the fact, Canadian food connects with multiculturalism. As people migrated to Canada during the war, some traditional food like poutine and pancakes were brought to Canada in the past. At first these facts are interesting, but upon rereading the article one may wonder, what does this have to do with the argument? The answer is, nothing. These facts are in no way essential to adding context to Wallace s moral argument, but rhetorically they serve the purpose to distract and retain. If right after page one Wallace started criticizing eating lobster, he runs the risk of ostracizing some of his carnivorous audience, but by just narrating and sharing facts, he delays this argument and continues to capture the interest of readers as they wonder where he is going with this. Once Wallace finally does reach his argument, he continues to present himself like he doesn t want to offend any reader by tip toeing around making a claim. He starts his argument off with so then here is a question (Wallace 57), both continuing his conversational tone and trying to frame this as a discussion not a statement on morality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1980, a chemical spill in the area nearly decimated the American Alligator population of Lake Apopka and resulted in a multitude of negative effects years afterword from which the population has not yet fully recovered (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998). This is primarily blamed on the long term effects of endocrine disruptors that were introduced into the system. Either by mimicking natural hormones and binding to hormone receptors, or by blocking the binding of natural hormones to hormone receptors, endocrine disruptors are able to alter how natural hormones are produced and used (Oberdorster and Cheek, 2011). Because hormones are responsible for maintaining many bodily functions, changing hormonal concentrations will disturb the body s natural balance and produce abnormal morphological changes to hormone dependent organs (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998). Morphological Effects on Body Size For example, thyroid hormones are necessary for proper development of the central nervous system and skeletal systems. Therefore, changes in thyroid levels would produce morphological changes in brain and bone tissue. In Lake Apopka, studies have proven that the greater the concentration of thyroid hormone, the smaller the alligator s body size as a result of skeleton malformation. In contrast, an increase in the concentration of steroid hormones has been proven to produce a larger body size (Crain et al., 1998). In another hormonal study, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film was written by Max Landis and is significantly different from most versions of the same story (Coming to Life). It attempts to take a third person perspective in order to reflect on the temperament of the main character, Victor Frankenstein. Using third person narration, Max manages to vilify Victor s character by shining a light on his recklessness. This is particularly important given that the Mary s novel allowed the audience to empathize with Victor due to the loss of his family members and fiancé. In this adaptation, the writer ensures that Victor is unhinged and carefree but a loyal friend to Igor and other people in his life. In addition to being brash, Victor is humorous in most of the scenes. This is implied when Igor pleads with him to rethink the experiments since the police were after the duo. While his friend Igor wanted to make a world a better place and hopefully be remembered for inventing new ways of healing the sick, Victor seeks to redefine the meaning of life and death. From the writing, it is clear that Victor did not really intend to get anybody hurt. His character is simply deranged and he ends up risking the lives of the people around him. The writer ... As the pace increases, the percentage of each stride that is airborne increases; competitive runners have hang times of about 45%.* What goes up must come down. That s why running is a high impact activity. Each time they land, runners subject their bodies to a stress equal to about three times their body weight. There is a large emphasis on the belief of not becoming attached or letting go of any attachment to people, things and places. Those who practice Buddhism, must try to let go of these emotional bonds. In the original series, Luke is seen struggling to detach from his emotions. Obi Wan and Master Yoda advise Luke of the dangers of his strong affections towards his friends and the love he has for his undeserving father. In the end, it was Luke s passion and love to others that unveils the good left in his father. This shows that love is more powerful than the light side of the Force. On the contrary, this idea of non attachment was taking too far and more serious in the prequel series. This impacted the way the Jedi Council were viewed, because of their immense detachment from all emotional bonds, this led the Jedi s to be viewed as cold and uncaring. This ultimately drove Anakin to the Dark side, after they used his fear, love and attachment against him, which poses love and passion as the enemy.
