Henry David Thoreau Influence
Henry David Thoreau, was an American author, poet, philosopher, and made many other historic
comments with things such as abolition and leading transcendentalist. He lived in the mid nineteenth
century during a rough time in America. Thoreau attracts diverse perspectives because the individual
and collective life he lived. Thoreau is best known for his book Walden , a reflection upon simple
living. As well, Resistance to Civil Government or Civil Disobedience , which was an argument for
disobedience to an unjust state. He has written over 20 full volumes, with his writings about personal
life, and many other environmental things. He was very deeply interested in the idea of survival in the
face of hostile elements. (PAL) Thoreau has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1920s an age of relative affluence, Thoreau was popularly seen as a rebel. Thoreau s ideals are
inoperative in the real, everyday world, and because he will not compromise his ideals, at all, they
have no effect upon the world: they are politically useless. (TAMU) Another Critic, Vernon
Parrington, would praise Thoreau as truly original and independent. In the 1930s, James MacKaye
would turn to the politics and denounce them, because he saw no cooperation and devoid of reason.
(TAMU) Starting, into the 1940 s there was plenty universal appeal, in the aspect of usefulness
(TAMU). In 1960 s Thoreau became not only relevant but almost a popular icon. Emerson, another
famous writer said He was bred to no profession; he never went to church; he never voted; he refused
to pay a tax to the State; he ate no flesh; he drank no wine; he never knew the use of tobacco; and,
though a naturalist, he used neither trap nor gun. Meyers claimed that Thoreau was violent and
nonviolent which would seem to follow from the dichotomy of messages in Resistance to Civil
Government.

Christian Doctrine And The Doctrine Of A New Testament
THE POLEMICISTS
As the apostle passed from the scene, other leaders arose in the church to take their place. These
leaders are fathers because of the esteem in which they were held by loyal church members. They
were call bishops and had authority over an area to maintain discipline the church. These fathers can
be classified in certain times or divided into four groups. The first groups would be the apostolic
fathers, the apologists, the Polemicists, and the scientific theologians.
As like the rest of the early church fathers, The Polemicists raised up to defend the faith. Their
reaction by concern church fathers against the action of the heretic let to the development of Christian
doctrine and the formulation of a New Testament Canon. They fought the heresies that were damaging
the church. In refuting error, they used much of the New Testament as the source of the true doctrine.
The work of the Polemicists also gave rise to the concept of an orthodox catholic church which was
opposed to heresy. While most of the Apologists were from the East, most of the Polemicists were
from the West. The Eastern mind was more concerned with speculative theology, whereas the Western
mind was concerned with church organization and practical doctrine for solving problems. These were
the Polemicists. Irenaeus (A.D. 120 202): Irenaeus was born in Smyrna and later moved to Lyons in
Gaul, now France, where he became bishop. He wrote Against Heresies in five books, in which he

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
1. Cash normally consists of coins and currency on hand, bank deposits, and various kinds of orders
for cash such as bank checks, money orders, travelers checks, demand bills of exchange, bank drafts,
and cashiers checks. Balances on deposit in banks which are subject to immediate withdrawal are
properly included in cash. Money market funds that provide checking account privileges may be
classified as cash. There is some question as to whether deposits not subject to immediate withdrawal
are properly included in cash or whether they should be set out separately. Savings accounts, time
certificates of deposit, and time deposits fall in this latter category. Unless restrictions on these kinds
of deposits are such that they cannot be converted (withdrawn) within one year or the operating cycle
of the entity, whichever is longer, they are properly classified as current assets. At the same time, they
may well be presented separately

Computer And The Four Components Of Modern Computers
1) What made modern computers possible Is The invention that could do calculations and other
information with no moving parts. Which was electronic components. Electronic components a fast
efficient machine such as Babbage (who designed the mechanical calculating machines that are the
ancestor of computers today) proposed could be built with all four components essential to modern
computing.
2) What are four components essential to modern computing Input, Storage, Processor, Output A
toaster is a way to show the four parts of a computer. Input just as a computer the raw data which will
be as bread for a toaster goes in. Storage The information gets stored just as you are turning the dial
for the toaster Processor It will then be processed just as the bread toast Output will be the final result
(the bread being toasted) The difference between them however is a computer work with software that
makes it figure out what to do with the input you give. Software gives the computer the ability to
process many different things, while a toaster can just process bread. Another difference is the fact a
computer has a microprocessor. Which is used for used to read different tasks.
3) How do computers receive input There was a time where computers received input by flipping
switches, and plugging wire, and put holes in cards to input It data.

Use Of Strategic Hrm Practices When Comparing The Oecd...
Thorough, relegation has taken to broadly similar working diagrams across the whole government.
Spain produces considerably less use of strategic HRM practices when comparing to the OECD
average. A regular liability diagram for management does not exist and statistics are not available
when it comes to HRM issues that management plans and reports on. Nonetheless, organized
progressive planning is in use, and covers a large range of topics related to long term management
issues. When it comes to recruitment, Spain uses a hiring system that is completely related to a career
base. One has to go through a competitive examination that is managed centrally. A time of practical
work is also part of the examination process. Most positions are done internally and some allowed
external recruitment through the direct application process. Even over the years, no change or
improvement has been made towards the use of external recruitment. Spain does not give any statistics
including policies to better the process of hiring of not skilled population.
Compared to the OECD countries, Spain does not make much use of one s performance in their HR
decision making process. Spain does not offer any statistics on how they evaluate their employees,
where Spain only uses assessment for some employees only. Spain only takes into criteria a couple
things with performance, such as activities undertaken, outputs and the effect of cost at work.
Valuation does not have much value to career improvement,

Yellow #5: yellow number five also known as tartrazine affects the human body in several ways.
When one consumes products with yellow 5 you lose zinc through your saliva and urine. Zinc is an
essential element for the chemical compound of one s body. Your body uses zinc in hundreds of ways,
zinc is required for your metabolism of carbohydrates and fat, protein, alcohol. Not just limited to that

a powder. Coming from a Hispanic family, I am surprised to learn that the coloring that is used in
tacos al pastor is being used in the food I consumed. This colorant is exempted from the FDA guide

Soy lecithin: Soy lecithin is found in almost all the products that we consume. Soy lecithin is created
by extracting the oil from the beans usually hexane, after this the raw oil goes through a refining
process where the crude oil gets mixed with water so that the lecithin may become hydrated so that
they can be removed. But there is a staggering concern with the amount of hexane let over from this
process. People with soy allergies should try to avoid this chemical but not necessarily cancel this
product from their diet, but should be cautious.
Malic Acid: Is considered to be safe by the FDA, malic acid was first isolated by Carl Wilhelm
Scheele in 1785. This acid is very tart it is most commonly found in green apples and present in wine
grapes. One should not consume so much malic acid because it can cause irritation of the

Social Classes In Ancient Rome

Social Classes in Ancient Rome Ancient Rome was a fascinating time and place that existed almost
2000 years ago. Rome was a very advanced empire that consisted of much of the world s population at
that time. They were able to conquer nations that were not as strong, and grow to have more land.
Even though they were advanced, not all of the citizens of Rome were treated well or equally. The
people that lived during that time period were put into a class system which included the upper class,
the lower class, and slaves and there was little opportunity to change classes.
Even though the upper class in Rome had the fewest amount of people, they still ruled and had the
most power. The emperor was at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This caused a lot of problems with the patricians. When the senate wanted to fight a war, the plebeians
did not want to because they had not been able to vote. Finally a law was made called The Law of the
Twelve Tables. The patricians and the plebeians agreed on this, and it said that everyone had to follow
the same rules. Slowly the lower class was granted more rights, like the right to marry someone in a
different class. The website www.vroma.org states that in 445 BCE, patricians and plebeians were
permitted to intermarry. This is important to this society because people could finally change their
class if they married someone in a higher class than they were in. Before that people were stuck in
whatever class they were born

Rifle Vs Spotting Scope Research Paper
Rifle Scope Vs Spotting Scope
When it comes to hunting, accuracy counts. You need to know that when you pull the trigger, you are
going to hit your target. If you do not, you will lose the capture. The same can be said for all other
forms of target shooting and the further away your target is, the harder it will be to hit your mark. That
is why there are so many who wonder which best, a rifle scope or a spotting scope. Perhaps it is here
that you will find the answer.
High End Rifle Scopes Vs a Spotting Scope
There are many reasons that someone may choose to go with a higher end scope. Most high end AR

It is often a lot more stable to look through than a pair of binoculars or even a rifle scope because it is
designed to be used on a stationary tripod or some other stable surface.
Perhaps Use Both?
There are people who use both devices because they perform a different job. It is easier for many to
use the spotting scope rather than binoculars when they want to see over a long distance and it also
ensures that they are not possibly pointing their rifle at something they would not want to shoot.
There are also those people who feel that if you have a good rifle scope, you do not need to carry more
than absolutely necessary when you are out in the woods. They feel that their rifle scopes are just as
accurate as a spotting scope and that when they see a target, it is easier to use their rifle and shoot at it
rather than have to site it again. It all depends on how each individual feels about it.
How are They Most Useful?
A spotting scope is designed to be accurate while you are scanning the area for a potential target. Then
you can zero in on the target with your rifle scope and wait for a clear shot at it. They are easier to use
than binoculars and offer a very clear view of targets that are far

Public Assistance For Welfare Programs
Many people in our country have turned to public assistance for help in our troubling economy.
Welfare programs in our country date back to the early 1900 s. When these programs first started they
were set up to support those who genuinely needed it. Many of the people who use these programs are
hard working people who have had unfortunate things happen to them. However for those who use
government assistance for good there are those who take advantage of the programs. Those who take
advantage have turned to drugs and are unable or unwilling to make the necessary life changes that the
others using the support have. Welfare programs were started to help those who have fallen into an
undesirable situation such as losing a job. These programs are not setup to aid in or assist in people s
drug habits. Drug use has substantially risen over the years many of the drugs that people are using are
worse than recreational marijuana use. They are also set up to help mothers with children to keep their
children at home and not in foster care. Also to ensure that children and theirs parents have food,
shelter, and basic everyday essentials. Drug testing those who receive public assistance would be
beneficial to the whole country. While there will always be these that insist that drug testing these
people is unconstitutional. It also appears that those taking advantage of the system is also
unconstitutional. Drug testing, as a requirement for welfare, would ensure that those who have a

Gender Inequality And Gender Equality
Gender inequality is the state in which access to rights or opportunities is affected by gender. Gender
inequality is an issue not just nationally but globally. This issue is portrayed by the mistreating of
individuals, mainly women, and not valuing everyone as one. This presentation will illustrate the
exploration of gender equality, propose a solution and why that solution will produce a better future
for a better world.
Gender inequality is a very important issue common in our world today that refers to unequal
treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It arises from differences in socially
constructed gender roles as well as biologically through chromosomes, brain structure, and hormonal
differences. Gender inequality stems from distinctions, whether empirically grounded or socially
constructed. The only differences that men and women behold is their appearance and some organs.
Women have 1 brain and 1 heart which is the same as men but are still dehumanised. If our world
continues to carry out gender inequality, women won t have a voice to contribute to our society and
men will have the final choice and the freedom of speech. Out of the seven deadly sins, two of the
seven occur the most; Pride and Envy. Pride is shown by the man who thinks they re superior to
women. This is sometimes a result from Envy. Envy is seen when the man suffers from jealousy about
the woman and her possessions. He then treats her less than as a sign of Envy/Jealousy. Women

Gender Themes In The Girl In Blue By Ann Rinaldi
There is a theme in The Girl in Blue by Ann Rinaldi. The theme is that gender does not affect skill
level. The Girl in Blue is set in 1861, and is about a Michigan native by the name of Sarah Louisa. She
is about to be forced to marry a man of her abusive father s choice when she decides to run away and
join the army. She joins the army under the ruse that she is a boy and participates in the battle of Bull
Run but her gender is eventually found out by her doctor and general. She is not punished for her
actions but discharged and sent to work as a spy for the Pinkerton agency. She is sent to spy on a
southern ally who is under house arrest to find out how she is sending messages to the south. She
discovers how and is rewarded with a break. She travels home to find her abusive father had died and
her sister is betrothed to the man she ran from. She leaves to go back to her job as a spy and that is
where the story ends. Some of the reasons the theme could be gender not affecting skill level is that
first of all the general does not punish her for her actions. Second, she is sent to work as a spy for a job
only a woman could do. Lastly, before she even goes to war she has to do all the work for the house
instead of her father.
When Sarah is discovered as a girl by her doctor and general she is not discharged. This is because she
has shown prowess on the battlefield and in the hospital tent as well. On the battlefield, she had the
courage to shoot a cavalry officer instead of one of the footmen, and she aimed the shot perfectly at
his heart. This shows how she is able to take charge and to stay calm in a hectic situation. She had the
peace of mind to get on a knee aim the gun and fire a fatal shot to the heart. furthermore, while in both
places she had to hide the fact that she was a girl while surrounded by men. In the hospital she tried
not to get sick by taking the bitters which is a medicine to prevent smallpox so she wouldn t be
examined by Dr.Hammond, the doctor at that hospital tent. Lastly, she volunteers to go a 5 mile trip
through some rebel territory to get morphine for the injured men. This shows how she is dedicated to
helping her brothers in arms who are in need of medical care. This is one

Abel Meeropol s Strange Fruit
Poets make very specific language choices when composing poetry and these are intended to have a
specific effect on the reader and meaning. Creating poetry involves many specific language choices in
order to send a clear message and affect the audience. An example of a thought out text that sends a
clear message is Abel Meeropol s Strange fruit . It was written in the 1930 s in direct relation to the
prejudice and discrimination against African Americans that occurred in the south of America.
Meeropol intentionally provides meaning and atmosphere for the audience by his use of metaphor,
imagery, and descriptive language. Author s thoughtfully use specific metalanguage to affect their
audience. Meeropol does this with the use of metaphors. The main metaphor presented was the title,
strange fruit . When the poem was written in the 1930 s lynching was a legal and common way ...

In fact this language technique is used multiple times throughout the text to serve multiple but a
unified purpose. Pastoral scene of the gallant south , is said with a slight sarcasm to imply that the
south actually isn t so gallant . However, it also describes a place one would take pride in; suggesting
that the south was supposed to be a good place. It contradicts the disturbing and gloomy thigs the
poem describes. An example of this twist is when Meeropol describes the dead bodies as something
for the crows to pluck, the rain to gather, wind to suck. For the sun to rot , a tree to drop. Meeropol
elucidates the decomposition of bodies and reinforces the ambience with dark and sinister feelings,
breaking the illusion of a gallant south . It deeply impacts the reader by describing the aftermath of an
inhumane and discriminatory act that shouldn t happen. With this technique the author allows the
audience to see the cruelty and oppression that African Americans go

Essay about Loyalty by Yulia Drunina
Aldous Huxley once said, One of the great attractions of patriotism it fulfills our worst wishes. In the
person of our nation we are able, vicariously, to bully and cheat. Bully and cheat, what s more, with a
feeling that we are profoundly virtuous (Huxley, 2013). Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is about her
devotion to her motherland Russia. Yulia Drunina is a Russian poem writer that writes a lot of her
poems about Russia. Yulia wrote the poem Loyalty to describe her love for her dying motherland. This
poem s meaning is that Yulia loves Russia so much that she will never forget about it and go wherever
it goes.
The speaker of the poem is Yulia Drunina. She grew up in the U.S.S.R and wrote the poem Loyalty .
She loves the old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem has some examples of alliteration. Yulia wants to get her point across and she wants to
emphasize it. So she uses alliteration to get it across. For example, Yulia wrote, Maybe you ll meet
some girl, / More lovely, more wise, or more dear. She repeats more often and this gives the feeling of
how much more she thinks her country will find some other type of person that is more important to
itself (Drunina, 1946).
Metaphors play a huge part in explaining how Russia made Yulia feel. It gives us the mood or feel of
the place. An example would be, Your tranquil pines, and such things / As the nocturnal Pakhra flows,
as Yulia wrote (Drunina, 1946). This comparison refers to the peacefulness of the U.S.S.R and gives
the image of it being quiet and peaceful. The reader can now imagine a quiet area where there is not a
single bother in the world with this metaphor.
Yulia had some examples of symbolism in her poem. Yulia wrote As the nocturnal Pakhra flows
(Drunina, 1946). She uses a real river in Russia to symbolise the tranquility of her home. The river is a
calm force running downstream, so it can symbolise calmness. Readers now get the image of calmness
from just reading that and that is what Yulia intended to do.
Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is a great poem about the U.S.S.R. Yulia wrote this poem to explain and
express her feelings about her old home which is the U.S.S.R. She was expressing how

The Problem Of A Ceo Of Our Sensor Company
As CEO of our sensor company, it has come to my attention that we are faced with an escalating
problem of balancing increasing demand, working capital limitations, and constrained manufacturing
output. Many of our top executives have been relaying their reservations about our offshore suppliers,
while others have been leaning towards expanding our dependence on them. With this information in
mind, as CEO, it would seem the best way to move forward is to expand our offshore supplier, but
also reinvest in monitoring and support tenfold as well as develop possible alternative suppliers. It is
clear that our demand is steadily rising and our current production overseas will not be able to keep up
for long. As our Vice President of Production pointed out, this increase is predominately overseas
where our current suppliers material and labor costs are lower and their location makes shipping
domestic sensors unprofitable. It is very important that we increase our capacity for if we don t we
will lose this growing market before we even get a chance to enter it.
So now the question becomes how do we expand our overseas production? At the moment, we have a
supplier that can currently meet demand and is in a position to expand to meet this increasing demand.
This supplier has also had three brushes with their country s labor law enforcers. In addition, if this
supplier is caught one more time we have to break ties with the supplier. The legal costs for this are
roughly 3%, but

The 2004 film version of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley has many similarities as well as differences

similarities. The overall plot line and main ideas are similar in the book and movie. The movie is

Glory And Centerfield Sound Devices
There are many different types of poems. All poems have a meaning to them, and those meanings are
all unique to each and every poem. Much like poems, songs have very many types and genres and
different meanings. Glory , a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa, and Centerfield , a song by John Fogerty,
are very similar to each other. Both poems and songs use poetic language such as figurative language
and sound devices. These help the poem or song flow better, sound more interesting, and keep the
readers or listeners attention. Glory is a poem about young men who use baseball as an escape from
their long, hard work days. When the men got done with work, they would go to an old baseball field

These similarities are not only the topic, but also the uses of sound devices, figurative language, and
imagery. Both the poem and the song are centered around baseball. They both mention former
baseball legends, but Glory uses them to describe the ethnicity, while Centerfield uses the names to
add some context to the song. Both use sound devices such as consonance. In Glory an example of a
consonance is Working knockout shifts daybreak (2) and in Centerfield Don t say it ain t so, you know
the time is now (15). While Glory focuses more on the players and fans, Centerfield focuses more on
the game itself. In Glory it centers in on the players and their agile nature and the way they play the
game. It depicts the fans cheering them on and the umpires dancing about calling strikes on batters.
Centerfield is more about the writer playing the game and competing to play the position, centerfield.
Another difference between the two is the context in which the game is being played. The young men
in Glory had just gotten done with a long, hard day of work and use the game as an escape from all of
that work. It helps them stay motivated for the week and live life in a better state of mind. Centerfield
is not as much as an escape for the writer, but more as a game that he has known and loved. He is

Termite-Hunting Ants Megaponera Analysis
NPR published an article about the termite hunting ants Megaponera analis on April 12th, and I
decided to compare how well their piece summarized the original scientific journal s findings.
Through reading both articles I have come to the conclusion that NPR summary of the scientific
journal is quite vague. The entirety of the NPR article had very little information about the scientific
journals findings. In my opinion there were more deficits in this article rather than benefits that
showed the true scope of the study. I understand that it is aimed at an audience much different that the
scientific journal but I still believe it is far too simplistic. However, there were a few benefits that
helped to capture the original research journals findings.
One of these benefits include their inclusion of the information about what type of ant Megaponera

Permissibility Of Enhancements In Sports Ethics Analysis
The case against perfection evaluates the ethics of enhancement and the threats against human
freedom and flourishing that are created by enhancements and genetic engineering. In the case against
perfection, Michael J. Sandel illustrates how enhancements diminish certain aspects of humanity by
proposing the idea that enhancements in sports weaken the appreciation for natural talents and gifts. In
the subject of sport enhancements, Sandel suggests that there is a very thin line between developing
natural gifts and tainting those gifts with deception from enhancements. Enhancements in sports are a
controversial topic because there are so many arguments between which enhancements are considered
acceptable and which are considered unacceptable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

determined by the athlete, an individual who is considered an adult, and the other is decided by the
parents, who desire their child to obtain specific traits and characteristics. Genetic engineering in
children simply offers the child an advantage in life in order to achieve greatness. If it is acceptable

Apologetics Reflection Essay
Although I have always thought of myself as an outspoken and strongly rooted person, this semester
changed the way I thought about Christianity, the Bible, and truth. While this course is called
Apologetics, it delves into much deeper issues than just that. I learned in this short semester that I
might not know myself and God as well as I thought I did. On the first day of school, I walked into the
classroom after the second bell, already deeply apprehensive. My own father would be teaching my
bible class, something very few students get to experience in high school. As discussion began, I
realized that I was highly mistaken. It was an unusual position, one where there was a professional gap
between daughter and father. It was almost as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After only a few days into school, we quickly dove into the purpose and use of critical thinking. I
quickly jotted down two of my favorite quotes that could relate to critical thinking, the latter is
hanging in my room. The first was by the very popular genius, Albert Einstein. He says, The important
thing is to never stop questioning. The second quote is by author Mark Twain, I have never let my
schooling interfere with my education. These two quotes summarize what we learned during this
lesson. Critical thinking is more than just thinking. It is questioning at the most basic level. Since I
was little girl, I have always questioned everything and tried to understand. I felt like if I did not ask,
then I would never know. This is part of the reason I am ahead in my class in school today. Teachers
would become frustrated when I would ask why? . Many parents today try to suppress this in their
child so they would not question authority. Yet, sometimes children need to question authority. Parents
should simply teach their children to question politely and in the right circumstance. The popular
phrase Curiosity killed the cat should be changed to Curiosity educated the cat . I believe curiosity is
just term people use to describe a good critical

Gg Force Research Paper
In the new attraction, The GG Force, you will be experiencing g forces like no other! From high hills,
loops, and plenty of more! The GG Force is a duel tracked roller coaster where one train (a set of 2 or
a greater amount of carts connected by joints to transport people around a coaster s circuit) races the
other. First, the two trains get launched at the same time by the cable pulling them up the hills. Then,
they race each other to the conclusion of the ride. Finally, which ever train wins, all of the passengers
on that train win a pocket sized keychain that s shaped like the winning train they were on. Each train
has its own name so when you get on the ride it ll be one train versus the other. The name of the train
that goes on the highest hill is furious and the train that goes on the short hill is forceful. The total ride
time is 1 minute 20 seconds and there is 50 rides every hour. Each cart holds 3 people and there is a
total of 7 carts per train. Two trains advance at the same to so there is a total of 42 carts going around

The Mayo Clinic
1. As per the Mayo Clinic the symptoms that the patient encountered is related to a pituitary adenoma,
due to the tumor pressure (www.mayoclinic.org). The visual disturbances and headaches indicate an
increase growth, which causes pressure to the surrounding area. The weight gain and increase in shoe
size is caused by an increase production in growth hormone. Excess production in growth hormone
can cause enlarged hands and feet.
2. The pituitary adenoma itself may put pressure on the remaining normal part of the pituitary gland
and limit or destroy its ability to produce hormones appropriately (Stewart Vance). With the increase
in tumor pressure the patient may experience nausea and vomiting. The pituitary adenoma may cause
body hair loss, sexual dysfunction, increase frequency and increase amount of urination. The pituitary
adenoma is growth hormone secreting tumor causing the hands and feet to enlarge
(www.mayoclinic.org). A growth hormone adenoma is the reason for the unexplained weight gain and
the change in shoe size from 10 to 12.
3. The cause of the high urine output postop is due to diabetes insipidus. Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a
common complication following pituitary surgery (Schreckinger, Szerli Mittal, 2012). There are two
subsets within Diabetes insipidus, nephrogenic and neurogenic. Neurogenic (or central) DI occurs
when there is inadequate secretion of AVP from the hypothalamus. This can be hereditary, idiopathic,

In most cases, your hair is cut around shoulder length, either a little above, or slightly below. The idea
is to create a significant amount of depth to the appearance of your hair, something that the hair stylist
will do after the initial cut is made.
Popularity of Medium Length Layered Haircuts
One of the primary reasons that this type of haircut is so popular with women is because it s easy to
maintain. Women with long hair may have to spend several hours washing their hair, drying it, and
getting it to a state of perfection. Although longer hair might provide a woman with more flair and
possibilities, long hair is more difficult to manage, and therefore medium length haircuts can
sometimes be preferable.
Women that cut their hair short might risk having a less feminine appearance. You need to have the
right facial shape in order to sport a shorter hairdo. The typical pixie cut that some women prefer
usually looks better with a more rounded face. However, in the end, it really comes down to how
much work you want to put into your hair. The medium length layered hairdo, therefore, is a happy
medium for those that want to have more style options, yet will have less hair to manage on a daily

An Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Hope Is The Thing With...
Structure of a poem. Hope is the thing with feathers
The poem of my chosen is: Hope is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson. Birds are sometimes
considered as symbols of spirituality and viewed as free and self sustaining. In this poem, Dickinson
describes a bird as a symbol of hope, that inspirational power ever present in the soul, which prevails
even when we are facing the worst situations in life and have used all our resources and lost all our
strength. The storm imagery and the metaphor are the elements that bring out the theme of the poem.
The first element that brings out the theme of this poem is the metaphor. Emily Dickinson uses
quotation marks for the word hope to mention its atypical use. In Stanza 1: She introduces the
metaphor in lines 1 2 then extends it throughout the entire poem. ( Hope is the thing with feathers...
perches in the soul). Here is a description of hope as a thing , a powerful feeling that hangs out in the
soul (line 3 4), where it sings without the words. a universal song everybody can listen to and
understand, and never stop but is always there to inspire us. This bird sings songs that never end,
consequently, hope song for us will never ends either. Hope, normally defined as a feeling/desire is
described here as a bird and whatever will be said of the bird in the entire poem refers to hope. In
Stanza 2 line 5: according to Dickinson, hope is sweetest during a storm. We mostly need hope, when
things are going badly. In

Essay 1 Elephant
Essay: Elephant by Polly Clark, 2006 A To choose your own future, destiny and life is very hard.
Everyone wants to do something that makes them happy. But sometimes you take the wrong decisions
or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were trying to escape
from. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It s not
always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something
productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the
most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point is William and his life,
which I will analyze and interpret. I will also discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clark l. 80 83 He keeps thinking about an elephant he got from his mother when he was little, after his
wife tells him that she will be home in twenty minutes, he gets a flashback to a time where he was
waiting for his mom in the same amount of time. And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The
elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his
mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in
him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a
switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving
to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with
the way his life is, because it wasn t the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with
his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett s
introduction to the 1999 edition of The Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William s
life, because Nothing happens the way you plan it. 7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant,
Williams does realize that he actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences.
Tears fills his eyes and he finally finds peace, because

Women—s Suffrage Movement of Europe
Throughout history, women have struggled for equality in all parts of the world. European women
fought for suffrage for an extremely long period of time before they were granted full voting rights.
Each country approved women s suffrage at different times, but it occurred in most European
countries in the early 20th century. The first country to develop universal suffrage was Finland in the
year 1906( Women s Suffrage in Europe ). One of the last countries to become open about women s
voting rights was Switzerland, who didn t grant women suffrage until 1971( Women s Suffrage in
Europe ). One of the main reasons why women desired the right to vote was because they wanted to
be able to vote for new laws that would eliminate their social ... Show more content on

Although the United Kingdom was not the first European country to grant women s suffrage, the
movement was much more successful than those in other nations. The supporters of the movement
formed the National Union of Women s Suffrage and hoped to show that women could be respectable
and responsible in their political activity (The Western Heritage). The British women s suffrage
movement was more advanced than the ones in France and Germany. Hubertine Auclert was alone in
her efforts to get women s suffrage in France in the 1880 s. The National Council of French Women
did not fight for women s right to vote until years after it was formed.
Germany had many laws against political activity for women (The Western Heritage). Therefore, the
suffrage movement was very underdeveloped. Another reason why the women s suffrage movement
was not very popular in Germany is because the political organizations did not have very much power
and influence in politics. Many women did not feel that having more power in these organizations
would help them at all. However, as the years passed, the Union of German Women s Organizations
was founded. This organization focused largely on education for women and improving their social
conditions. Women were not granted voting rights until Germany was defeated in war in 1919(The
Western Heritage).

things my mother and I would do together like girls night out which consists of getting our nails done
and watching lifetime movies and binge eating on all of our favorite foods, or having girl talk about
everything under the sun, because I needed a mother s point of view. Henrietta was more than just
scientific research, she was a wife, a sister, a friend, a granddaughter, and most importantly she was a

How Did Women s Lacrosse Change
Lacrosse dates back all the way to the 1600 s when the Indians inhabited most of the North American
land. What once was referred to as stickball by the Native Americans has changed frequently
throughout the years, and is now a popular worldwide play sport.
Lacrosse was first played in St. Valley, New York by the Iroquois, who were a Native American tribe.
The game was originally created to praise their creator. Also to settle arguments between other tribes
and to prepare for war. There were very few rules, there was no boundaries and unlimited players were
allowed on the field at once. To start the game each team would yell their creator s name and put their
sticks in the air as a way of saying they were ready. The French explorers who were in North America
saw the Native Americans playing, the rules and setting was really different from how people play
today. The name of Lacrosse came from the French explorers who noticed how the sticks looked like a
cross that a Bishop would carry, called le crosier. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women s lacrosse is now an official sport and is also a part of the US Lacrosse League. The game is
no longer used to settle disputes and used as a way to configure war methods. It wasn t until around
1857 that a Canadian dentist named George Beers founded the Montreal Lacrosse Team, which
modified new rules and organized new clubs and teams. The first game that was played with the new
rules was at a college in Canada around 1857. About a year later Canada named lacrosse its national
sport. Lacrosse was brought to England where the game was played and expanded throughout England
schools. In the 1800 s, places in New York founded lacrosse clubs, and the game continued to grow.
Lacrosse was becoming a popular game throughout North America. Lacrosse still continues to change

In the 1930s, James MacKaye would turn to the politics and denounce them, because he saw no cooperation and devoid of reason. They fought the heresies that were damaging the church. In refuting error, they used much of the New Testament as the source of the true doctrine. The work of the Polemicists also gave rise to the concept of an orthodox catholic church which was opposed to heresy. While most of the Apologists were from the East, most of the Polemicists were from the West. The Eastern mind was more concerned with speculative theology, whereas the Western mind was concerned with church organization and practical doctrine for solving problems. These were the Polemicists. Spain produces considerably less use of strategic HRM practices when comparing to the OECD average. A regular liability diagram for management does not exist and statistics are not available when it comes to HRM issues that management plans and reports on. Nonetheless, organized progressive planning is in use, and covers a large range of topics related to long term management issues. When it comes to recruitment, Spain uses a hiring system that is completely related to a career base. One has to go through a competitive examination that is managed centrally. A time of practical work is also part of the examination process. Most positions are done internally and some allowed external recruitment through the direct application process. Even over the years, no change or improvement has been made towards the use of external recruitment. Spain does not give any statistics including policies to better the process of hiring of not skilled population. Compared to the OECD countries, Spain does not make much use of one s performance in their HR decision making process. Spain does not offer any statistics on how they evaluate their employees, where Spain only uses assessment for some employees only. Rome was a very advanced empire that consisted of much of the world s population at that time. They were able to conquer nations that were not as strong, and grow to have more land. Even though they were advanced, not all of the citizens of Rome were treated well or equally. The people that lived during that time period were put into a class system which included the upper class, the lower class, and slaves and there was little opportunity to change classes. There are people who use both devices because they perform a different job. It is easier for many to use the spotting scope rather than binoculars when they want to see over a long distance and it also ensures that they are not possibly pointing their rifle at something they would not want to shoot. There are also those people who feel that if you have a good rifle scope, you do not need to carry more than absolutely necessary when you are out in the woods. They feel that their rifle scopes are just as accurate as a spotting scope and that when they see a target, it is easier to use their rifle and shoot at it rather than have to site it again. It all depends on how each individual feels about it. How are They Most Useful? A spotting scope is designed to be accurate while you are scanning the area for a potential target. Welfare programs in our country date back to the early 1900 s. When these programs first started they were set up to support those who genuinely needed it. Many of the people who use these programs are hard working people who have had unfortunate things happen to them. However for those who use government assistance for good there are those who take advantage of the programs. Those who take advantage have turned to drugs and are unable or unwilling to make the necessary life changes that the others using the support have. Welfare programs were started to help those who have fallen into an undesirable situation such as losing a job. These programs are not setup to aid in or assist in people s drug habits. Drug use has substantially risen over the years many of the drugs that people are using are worse than recreational marijuana use. They are also set up to help mothers with children to keep their children at home and not in foster care. • 11. Gender Inequality And Gender Equality Gender inequality is the state in which access to rights or opportunities is affected by gender. Gender inequality is an issue not just nationally but globally. This issue is portrayed by the mistreating of individuals, mainly women, and not valuing everyone as one. This presentation will illustrate the exploration of gender equality, propose a solution and why that solution will produce a better future for a better world. Gender inequality is a very important issue common in our world today that refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It arises from differences in socially constructed gender roles as well as biologically through chromosomes, brain structure, and hormonal differences. Gender inequality stems from distinctions, whether empirically grounded or socially constructed. The only differences that men and women behold is their appearance and some organs. Women have 1 brain and 1 heart which is the same as men but are still dehumanised. If our world continues to carry out gender inequality, women won t have a voice to contribute to our society and men will have the final choice and the freedom of speech. Out of the seven deadly sins, two of the seven occur the most; Pride and Envy. Pride is shown by the man who thinks they re superior to women. This is sometimes a result from Envy. Envy is seen when the man suffers from jealousy about the woman and her possessions. He then treats her less than as a sign of Envy/Jealousy. Women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Gender Themes In The Girl In Blue By Ann Rinaldi There is a theme in The Girl in Blue by Ann Rinaldi. The theme is that gender does not affect skill level. The Girl in Blue is set in 1861, and is about a Michigan native by the name of Sarah Louisa. She is about to be forced to marry a man of her abusive father s choice when she decides to run away and join the army. She joins the army under the ruse that she is a boy and participates in the battle of Bull Run but her gender is eventually found out by her doctor and general. She is not punished for her actions but discharged and sent to work as a spy for the Pinkerton agency. She is sent to spy on a southern ally who is under house arrest to find out how she is sending messages to the south. She discovers how and is rewarded with a break. She travels home to find her abusive father had died and her sister is betrothed to the man she ran from. She leaves to go back to her job as a spy and that is where the story ends. Some of the reasons the theme could be gender not affecting skill level is that first of all the general does not punish her for her actions. Second, she is sent to work as a spy for a job only a woman could do. Lastly, before she even goes to war she has to do all the work for the house instead of her father. When Sarah is discovered as a girl by her doctor and general she is not discharged. This is because she has shown prowess on the battlefield and in the hospital tent as well. On the battlefield, she had the courage to shoot a cavalry officer instead of one of the footmen, and she aimed the shot perfectly at his heart. This shows how she is able to take charge and to stay calm in a hectic situation. She had the peace of mind to get on a knee aim the gun and fire a fatal shot to the heart. furthermore, while in both places she had to hide the fact that she was a girl while surrounded by men. In the hospital she tried not to get sick by taking the bitters which is a medicine to prevent smallpox so she wouldn t be examined by Dr.Hammond, the doctor at that hospital tent. An example of this twist is when Meeropol describes the dead bodies as something for the crows to pluck, the rain to gather, wind to suck. For the sun to rot , a tree to drop. Meeropol elucidates the decomposition of bodies and reinforces the ambience with dark and sinister feelings, breaking the illusion of a gallant south . Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is about her devotion to her motherland Russia. Yulia Drunina is a Russian poem writer that writes a lot of her poems about Russia. This poem has some examples of alliteration. Yulia wants to get her point across and she wants to emphasize it. So she uses alliteration to get it across. For example, Yulia wrote, Maybe you ll meet some girl, / More lovely, more wise, or more dear. She repeats more often and this gives the feeling of how much more she thinks her country will find some other type of person that is more important to itself (Drunina, 1946). Metaphors play a huge part in explaining how Russia made Yulia feel. It gives us the mood or feel of the place. An example would be, Your tranquil pines, and such things / As the nocturnal Pakhra flows, as Yulia wrote (Drunina, 1946). This comparison refers to the peacefulness of the U.S.S.R and gives the image of it being quiet and peaceful. The reader can now imagine a quiet area where there is not a single bother in the world with this metaphor. Yulia had some examples of symbolism in her poem. Yulia wrote As the nocturnal Pakhra flows (Drunina, 1946). She uses a real river in Russia to symbolise the tranquility of her home. The river is a calm force running downstream, so it can symbolise calmness. Readers now get the image of calmness from just reading that and that is what Yulia intended to do. The Problem Of A Ceo Of Our Sensor Company As CEO of our sensor company, it has come to my attention that we are faced with an escalating problem of balancing increasing demand, working capital limitations, and constrained manufacturing output. Many of our top executives have been relaying their reservations about our offshore suppliers, while others have been leaning towards expanding our dependence on them. With this information in mind, as CEO, it would seem the best way to move forward is to expand our offshore supplier, but also reinvest in monitoring and support tenfold as well as develop possible alternative suppliers. It is clear that our demand is steadily rising and our current production overseas will not be able to keep up for long. As our Vice President of Production pointed out, this increase is predominately overseas where our current suppliers material and labor costs are lower and their location makes shipping domestic sensors unprofitable. It is very important that we increase our capacity for if we don t we will lose this growing market before we even get a chance to enter it. So now the question becomes how do we expand our overseas production? At the moment, we have a supplier that can currently meet demand and is in a position to expand to meet this increasing demand. Termite-Hunting Ants Megaponera Analysis NPR published an article about the termite hunting ants Megaponera analis on April 12th, and I decided to compare how well their piece summarized the original scientific journal s findings. Through reading both articles I have come to the conclusion that NPR summary of the scientific journal is quite vague. The entirety of the NPR article had very little information about the scientific journals findings. In my opinion there were more deficits in this article rather than benefits that showed the true scope of the study. I understand that it is aimed at an audience much different that the scientific journal but I still believe it is far too simplistic. However, there were a few benefits that helped to capture the original research journals findings. One of these benefits include their inclusion of the information about what type of ant Megaponera analis is and how these ants march out in the search of food. Another benefit could be how the article describes how these ants were carrying their own kind as well as termites. Lastly, this article includes the backstory as who why the ... The article does mention the word hormone as being a possible factor in why they are rescuing their fellow species but doesn t say anything else. Within this article, I also see a hint of anthropomorphism when they compare these ants to something a solider in a war would do. They also talk about the empathy that these ants may be having for those ants who have been hurt during the hunt. I would also really like to see the interview that they had with the main researcher because it appears they must have cut a lot of stuff out. Permissibility Of Enhancements In Sports Ethics Analysis The case against perfection evaluates the ethics of enhancement and the threats against human freedom and flourishing that are created by enhancements and genetic engineering. In the case against perfection, Michael J. Sandel illustrates how enhancements diminish certain aspects of humanity by proposing the idea that enhancements in sports weaken the appreciation for natural talents and gifts. In the subject of sport enhancements, Sandel suggests that there is a very thin line between developing natural gifts and tainting those gifts with deception from enhancements. Similarly, both enhancements in sports and genetic engineering increase happiness and well being of individuals involved and both involve intervention from a medical stand point. In my discovery, the timing of these alterations and enhancements seem to the only difference between the two. Genetic engineering in children simply offers the child an advantage in life in order to achieve greatness. If it is acceptable and morally permissible to enhance our abilities as adults, then enhancing specific virtues, qualities, and traits to heighten the future of our children would be deemed ethically permissible as ... Apologetics Reflection Essay Although I have always thought of myself as an outspoken and strongly rooted person, this semester changed the way I thought about Christianity, the Bible, and truth. While this course is called Apologetics, it delves into much deeper issues than just that. I learned in this short semester that I might not know myself and God as well as I thought I did. On the first day of school, I walked into the classroom after the second bell, already deeply apprehensive. My own father would be teaching my bible class, something very few students get to experience in high school. As discussion began, I realized that I was highly mistaken. After only a few days into school, we quickly dove into the purpose and use of critical thinking. I quickly jotted down two of my favorite quotes that could relate to critical thinking, the latter is hanging in my room. The first was by the very popular genius, Albert Einstein. He says, The important thing is to never stop questioning. The second quote is by author Mark Twain, I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. These two quotes summarize what we learned during this lesson. Critical thinking is more than just thinking. It is questioning at the most basic level. Since I was little girl, I have always questioned everything and tried to understand. I felt like if I did not ask, then I would never know. This is part of the reason I am ahead in my class in school today. Teachers would become frustrated when I would ask why? . Many parents today try to suppress this in their child so they would not question authority. Yet, sometimes children need to question authority. Parents should simply teach their children to question politely and in the right circumstance. The popular phrase Curiosity killed the cat should be changed to Curiosity educated the cat . The idea is to create a significant amount of depth to the appearance of your hair, something that the hair stylist will do after the initial cut is made. Women with long hair may have to spend several hours washing their hair, drying it, and getting it to a state of perfection. Birds are sometimes considered as symbols of spirituality and viewed as free and self sustaining. In this poem, Dickinson describes a bird as a symbol of hope, that inspirational power ever present in the soul, which prevails even when we are facing the worst situations in life and have used all our resources and lost all our strength. The storm imagery and the metaphor are the elements that bring out the theme of the poem. The first element that brings out the theme of this poem is the metaphor. Emily Dickinson uses quotation marks for the word hope to mention its atypical use. In Stanza 1: She introduces the metaphor in lines 1 2 then extends it throughout the entire poem. And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn t the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. The British women s suffrage movement was more advanced than the ones in France and Germany. Hubertine Auclert was alone in her efforts to get women s suffrage in France in the 1880 s. The National Council of French Women did not fight for women s right to vote until years after it was formed. Germany had many laws against political activity for women (The Western Heritage). Therefore, the suffrage movement was very underdeveloped. Another reason why the women s suffrage movement was not very popular in Germany is because the political organizations did not have very much power and influence in politics. Many women did not feel that having more power in these organizations would help them at all. However, as the years passed, the Union of German Women s Organizations was founded.
