Fedex, The Most Successful Companies Of The World Essay
FedEx is considered one of the most successful companies in the world. When founder Fred Smith
was in college, he wrote a paper that outlined a system that would deliver time sensitive items quickly
(fedex.com). In 1971 his idea came to life and FedEx was born in Little Rock, Arkansas (fedex.com).
In the 45 years they ve been operating they still keep their Purple Promise. That s the nickname of
their motto to make every FedEx experience outstanding (fedex.com). Innovative services such as
overnight shipping needed to match with excellent customer service.
Their website, which was founded in 1994 (wired.com), allowed customers to track their packages
within seconds. Package tracking allows a customer to follow their packages and gives peace of mind
that important items have met their destination. Prior to the inception of their website, a customer
would have to call to track their package. While still an option, many people prefer the ease of
tracking from their computers or smartphones. Their application Ship Manager can be installed on a
customers website so they can determine shipping charges and print labels from home or the office
(textbook, p. 22). Instead of nurturing an isolated environment from business owners, FedEx looks to
integrate their services within a businesses management information system. We allow customers to
drag and drop names from their address books into FedEx Ship Manager, says FedEx CIO Robert
Carter. The integration provided makes the

The s Neo Noir Film Bladerunner And Mary Shelley s...
The community surrounding a person, or the lack thereof, can often shape and define one s experience
of the world. Ridley Scott s neo noir film Bladerunner and Mary Shelley s gothic novel Frankenstein,
both of which are science fiction works that explore the complexities of genetic engineering and the
consequences of the hubris it entails, demonstrate how one s prolonged solitude, whether voluntary or
involuntary, results in a warped vision of the world that causes one to act irrationally through the
characters of Victor Frankenstein, his monster and J. F. Sebastian. Firstly, Victor Frankenstein
purposely confines himself to his laboratory, temporarily forgetting about his friends and family, thus
leaving him with no one to caution him against meddling in the science of bestowing life. Seeing as he
has little interest in acquainting himself with the townspeople of Ingolstadt, with the exception of M.
Waldman, Victor fully immerses himself in his studies and becomes increasingly enraptured by his
deranged ideas. He spends so much time endeavouring to finish his project that he no longer takes
care of himself: My cheek had grown pale with study, and my person had become emaciated with
confinement. (81, Shelley). Because Victor s withdrawal from society is deliberate, it is even more
difficult for him to resign from his occupation of creating a new living being, wrongly believing that
this new creature will love and praise him as a god. Perhaps it is the very fact that

The Issues Of Financial Demands And Permits
In reaching an agreement on the issues of financial demands and permits, our party thought that the
last issue in the agenda was the press release; however, the mayors asked for an annual fixed payment
of $250,000.00 per town from the corporation. While our party was not provided with an acceptable
range to which we may agree upon as precluded by the confidential instructions, we instead offered to
pay $200,000.00 as a low cost inducement instead, to which the mayors agreed upon. In an effort to
reach an agreement with the counterparts to a positive press release of the corporation and its project,
our party agreed to the payment in the spirit of the consensus decision rule because the need for the
positive press release outweighed the need to minimize costs. In addition, the mayors offered to
promote the project in the towns with the use of the $200,000.00 as a form of marketing expense,
which the corporation could then respectively decrease from the marketing budget.
In reaching an agreement on the issues of financial demands, permits, and fixed payments, each one of
the parties were able to agree upon a positive press release with much ease, with an agreement that the
mayors would take actions in order to prevent the potential blocking of the access to the site (see
Appendix B for the final contract).
III. Cultural influences

negotiation, as the respective mayors of the

University Of Michigan V. Ewing Case Brief
In Regents of the University of Michigan v. Ewing, Scott Ewing sued the University of Michigan after
he was dismissed from their medical program. The case took nearly three years to settle, eventually
coming before the United States Supreme Court. In the end, the court ruled in favor of the university
after much evidence was used including marketing used by the university pertaining to its medical
program, pamphlets, and other policies of the institution (Kaplin and Lee, 2013). The case arose upon
Ewing failing the university s mandatory medical exam, and as a result, he was dismissed from the
university s medical program before he could complete his final two years. Upon his dismissal, Ewing
filed a complaint against the Regents of the University of Michigan, asserting a right to retake the
NBME Part I test on three separate theories, two predicated on state law and one based on federal law
(FindLaw s United States Supreme Court, 2016).). Furthermore, Ewing stated that the University
failed to uphold his contract as an enrolled student and had been barred by the doctrine of promissory
estoppel (Regents of the University of Michigan v. Ewing. (2016). Additionally, he asserted that
according to federal law, he had a property interest in his continued enrollment in the medical program
known as Inteflex, and therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

students had been given the opportunity to retake the NBME Part I again upon failing it, and he was

University, 2016). However, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed this decision, stating that he had been

Symbolism In A Caged Bird
Introduction:
The title is a metaphor derived from Maya Angelou s poem Caged Bird to mean the bird which is
Bahamian music is throwing itself against the bars of its cage which is metaphorical for the constraints
to the inclusiveness of other Bahamian artist under the umbrella of Bahamian music. Bahamian music
struggles so much that it begins to bleed and needs to stop, but once its wounds are healed, it tries
again. Bahamian music is very persistent for diversity and is just praying, wishing to be free. The
cultural forefathers have caged the bird because they have been increasingly frightened at the
possibility that the Bahamian culture is quickly becoming a hybrid culture that is being corroded
almost daily. This fear could very well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rousseau s ideology in his piece on the social contract is directly related to the issue Bahamian music
is facing. The importance of viewing Rousseau s piece through an introspective lens is to allow
Bahamians to appreciate that they should possess the freedom in relegating what art forms change and
how they do instead of allowing the government (state) to control changes whether or not the people
(sovereignty) want it to change. Rousseau really asserted that only the people, in the form of the
sovereign have the all powerful right to legislate; that governments are not sovereign but merely a tool
of the people who really comprise the Sovereign, which is the excrete of the general will of the
people. A test of any aspect of the social contract is the extent to which the Sovereign body (the
people) accepts the status quo. The commands of the rulers may pass for general wills where the
Sovereign, even while free to, does not oppose them. Silence is taken to imply acceptance. However,
for laws to be heeded they need to be accepted. The aim of the Social Contract is to determine a
legitimate political authority. In the Bahamas this authority is the elected Government on the

Essay about Causes of Unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina
2. Methods
This report aims to investigate causes of unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as
problems and solutions of unemployment in this country. Exploration of causes of unemployment is
analyzed by utilizing of the book written by Rajko Tomas entitled Nezaposleni. Moreover, data related
to problems of unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina is gathered from the book by Miomir Jaksic
entitled Makroekonomija. The articles related to poverty and going abroad of young population are
collected from the book Osnovi ekonomije written by Slobodan Barac and Budimir Stakic and its
articles are very beneficial for our topic. Finally, the solutions of unemployment in Bosnia and
Herzegovina are analyzed by utilizing online articles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if they break undeclared work, more people will be fired and it leads to increase in
unemployment rate. Consequently, it is obvious from above that undeclared work is harmful for the
economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for its citizens.
3.1.2 Corruption
Another important cause of unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina is corruption. At the end of
each year, numerous organizations do researches related to corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of these organizations is Transparency International organization. According to Transparency
International, Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented as the one of the most corrupted and the most
undeveloped countries in Europe. The corruption rate in this country is calculated as 14.9% and it
places Bosnia and Herzegovina as the 5th country on the list of corrupted countries. During last four
years, this country records constant decrease in global corruption rate because the other countries
involved in this survey showed high increase in corruption rate. Moreover, Divjak (2012) states that
this country did not make any improvement or decline in corruption rate, so it represents stagnation in
economy. Although the decrease is finally stopped, the result is disappointing because there is no
desire of the government to overcome the corruption. According to Tomas (2004, p.141.)

The Right Of Prescribe Medication For Psychologist Have...
The right to prescribe medication for psychologist have been a hot topic in the mental health field and
have been a major goal of the American Psychological Association. In fact, the American
Psychological Association have established many different training programs and legislations towards
achieving this goal. Today, the state of New Mexico, Louisiana, and Illinois are the three states that
have approved prescription rights for psychologist, with many other state have already introduced
similar legislation waiting for approval. It is believed that the benefits of granting prescription rights
to psychologist are that it would improve mental health service, affordability, accessibility and
effectiveness of mental health treatment. However, giving psychologist the prescription right could
lead to many negative factors such as psychologist s lack of appropriate training for prescribing
medication, changes in psychologist treatment for patient, and legal and ethical issues. There are
educational level and requirements that should be associated to professional with rights to prescribe
medication. If clinical psychologist were given the rights to prescribe medication, the pre requirement
for the graduate program for clinical psychologist would need to change dramatically. The current
undergraduate psychology degree do not include many chemistry, and biology course that pre medical
school students would have to take. Course such as neurobiology, biochemistry, and organic

Gucci s Use Of Gender Roles In Advertising
Gender roles have been a part of society since the beginning of society itself. Men are supposed to be
bigger, stronger, smarter, they should go out and support their family. Women are meant to fragile and
they should stay at home to raise the children. Though this idea is not as present as it once was, and
many people, especially women, continue to step away from that idea, it is still present especially in
advertising. Gucci s 2011 advertisement for their Guilty cologne is no exception to this. The
advertisement features Chris Evans, known for his roles in the Captain America films, and Evan
Rachel Wood, known for her roles in Westworld. The two stand naked against a black background.
The cologne bottle is pictured in the bottom right corner of the image. The title is above their heads in
bold white letters and says Gucci Guilty: Pour Homme. They use these gender roles, and other
common societal ideas to convey their message that the use of the cologne will not only make it s
target audience more attractive but it will spice up their life and get them pretty women. Chris Evans
is the first thing that the audience sees when looking at the given advertisement. He represents the role
of men in society perfectly. His piercing blue eyes provide a stark contrast with the rest of the image.
He s looking directly into the camera as well which exudes a level of confidence that most men can
only wish to have. Viewers will be left wondering what they could do to achieve this

The Calling Of St. Matthew By Caravaggio
The Calling of St. Matthew, is a painting created in 1600, by Caravaggio. It was created using oil
paints measuring 127 inches by 130 inches. The painting can be found today in the Contarelli Chapel
in the french church San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. It is located in the chapel with two other
paintings by Caravaggio, all about St. Matthew. The painting is telling a story from the Gospel of
Matthew. It shows the moment that Jesus tells Matthew to follow him and become one of his apostles.
The main characters in this painting are Matthew, Jesus, and Peter. There are five young men seated
counting money. They are all armed and dressed in fancy clothes. The room they are in almost looks
like an old tavern. Images do not usually show Jesus in this particular kind of setting. ... Show more

It represents the sacrifice Jesus is going to make for the people. Caravaggio s hand placement for
Jesus is very similar to Michelangelo s hand in his The Creation of Adam painting. This could have
been done intentional. Michelangelo painted God as he awakens Adam and now Caravaggio has
painted Jesus reaching out to Matthew as he is recreating his life. It is hard to tell exactly who Jesus is
pointing at since there are five men seated in front of him. However, the intensity of the light,
probably from a door that was opened, takes the viewers eyes right to the bearded mans hand which he
is pointing at himself in shock. Matthew is surprised that Jesus would pick someone like him.
Caravaggio is showing his audience that even if you believe you are not holy enough, everyone is able
to follow Christ. He gives his audience the ability to relate to St. Matthew. This tells us that he is
Matthew. At this moment, Matthew has to decide if he wants to stay and continue to be a tax collector,
or follow Jesus. The coin on top of his hat and his hand reaching out to a coin, symbolizes that money
is a huge part of him, if he went with Jesus he would be giving

It is a sacred place dedicated to the belief in life after death. The afterlife was a main focus of
Egyptian Civilization and ruled every aspect of the society. This is reflected in their architecture and
manpower involved in the building of their tombs. Ancient Egyptians believed the soul could live only
if the body was preserved from corruption and depredation as well as fed. This aspect was emphasized
in Perneb s tomb by two small obelisks (now missing) at the western corners of the courtyard. They
evoked the presence of the sun god Re who, especially in Perneb s time, was venerated as the ultimate
source of life in grandiose solar temples built around huge obelisks. Most importantly, the interior
rooms of the mastaba were places for the performance of life renewing rituals. Eternalized in the wall
decorations, these rituals and the offerings that accompanied them provided the deceased with
everlasting sustenance. The statues in the serdab represented the tomb owner as a living person who
could receive the potent life forces activated through the chants and incense burning that took place in

Summary Of The Mcdonaldization Of Society
As to perfectly punctuate the paper The McDonaldization of Society by George Ritzer, I got tired of
reading it and made my computer read it to me while I listened, which although efficient added an
emphasis on all the topics Ritzer discussed in his writing. McDonaldization is the sociological term
used to describe the wide spread affects of fast food restaurants on society, whose affects can be seen
in almost all aspects of todays society. The first aspect of McDonaldization as highlighted in the
article is the assembly line structure, as used by fast food restaurants; it provides an efficient way for
food to be prepared, served, eaten and disposed of as fast as possible. It utilizes multiple employs at
different stations to make food

My Best Vacation
The best vacation ever! my cousin Vicky screamed from the bed next to me. I was just trying to fall
sleep, but she kept talking most of the night with her twin sister Emma. We all have the same age, and
this is the first vacation we have without parents, aunts, and uncles around, telling us what to do. We
arrived to Los Angeles, California at 11:00 pm, checked into the hotel and tried to rest. The next day
we planned to drive around the city and wait for our friend Annette, who was coming from Texas.
Annette was around twenty years old, but she had been traveling around the world with her father
since she was 13. I admire her, she is funny, has a good temper, and is really knowledgeable about
traveling. We are going to fly together to Mexico City first, and from there to Acapulco. We planned to
go to La Quebrada , it s a place in Acapulco where people do cliff diving. We had done some research
about it. The divers have to climb the cliff and do a freestyle jump into the water. We couldn t wait to
be there, Annette was going to be really happy too, she used to compete in platform diving when she
was in high school. The hotel room phone rang pretty early the next day. Our parents checking on us,
making sure we were ok. Emma talked to her mother and assured her that everything was ok and that
we will be careful driving around. It was funny, I looked at her facial expressions meanwhile she is
talking, and Emma rolls the eyes and nods a lot. Emma is the opposite of his sister Vicky. Vicky talks
a lot but she s a scary cat, on the other hand, Emma is quieter but really adventurous. Liz, my uncle
wants you on the phone! Emma announced. I picked up the phone and got myself ready for the
lecture. My father was concerned that we were going alone to Mexico. I promised that we were going
to stay in Acapulco a couple of days and go back to California. Don t do stupid things my father
continued, and, take care of each other. Annette arrived at midday, we were happy to see each other
again. We decided to go the movies. We say the premier of Batman Returns , the line at the movie
theater was extremely long, but we were so excited that the next day we will be flying to Mexico that

19th and 20th Century of Europe
Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries
Introduction
During the 19th and 20th century, Europe witnessed its so called demographic transition, with a fall in
birth rates and an even greater fall in mortality rates, which led to a rapid increase in the population.
The demographic transition was essentially a result of a decrease in chronic infectious diseases like
tuberculosis, syphilis, diphtheria, measles, dysentery, and typhoid fever.
The wage dispersion evidence suggests that the middle of the 19th century is an appropriate date for
the start of modern convergence in the Atlantic economy. One might view this convergence as one of
transition toward globally integrated Atlantic factor markets. The convergence in wages from about

And while restrictions on farm imports are still prominent in Europe today, OECD farm sectors are far
too small to matter economy wide to the extent that they did a century ago. Furthermore, the
migrations from poor to rich countries today are pretty trivial affairs compared with the mass
migrations up to World War I. Today, only the U.S. has across the border migration rates anything like
those recorded all over the converging Atlantic economy prior to the quotas. And governments today
have far more sophisticated ways to compensate losers than they had a century ago.
Conclusion
In conclusion we can say that during the 19th and 20th century the well to do European economies of
that time included the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany, as well as Britain. In contrast, the
nine members of the European periphery at this time were Austria, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy,
Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. (Austria and Denmark can be viewed as straddling the margin
between core and periphery.) The industrial core countries had levels of GDP per head 67 percent
higher than the poor European periphery (O Rourke, 1997), and their real wages were 86 percent
higher than the periphery. Note again that the sample excludes east and southeast Europe simply
because the late 19th century data are inadequate for those regions. We do know, however, that these
countries were relatively

Frank Norris’s Novel McTeague Essay
Frank Norris s Novel McTeague
Frank Norris s novel McTeague explores the decay of society in the early twentieth century. Set in San
Francisco, a place where anything can happen...where fact is often stranger than fiction (McElrath, Jr.
447), Norris explores themes of greed and naturalism, revealing the darker side of human psyche.
What can be found most disturbing is the way that Norris portrays McTeague, in shocking detail, as
nothing more than a brute animal at his core. Norris explores the greed and savage animalism that
lurks inside McTeague.
McTeague is first portrayed as a gentle giant. The reader is introduced to McTeague as he sits in his
dental parlor, smoking his cigar and drinking his steam beer. He is ... Show more content on

Despite the fact that the two are deciding which one will have Trina, without her input on the matter,
they feel that they are both noble men. The dentist treats his friend for an ulcerated tooth and refuses
payment; the friend reciprocates by giving up his girl. This was nobility (Norris 48 9). After this
encounter, the two men go back to their flat where a fight between two dogs is about to occur. Norris
uses foreshadowing at this point and more animal imagery to describe the silent rage growing inside
Marcus. Suddenly the quarrel had exploded on either side of the fence. The dogs raged at each other,
snarling and barking, frantic with hate (Norris 52). This scene is repeated throughout the novel when
McTeague and Marcus meet, adding to the feelings of tension between the two.
After Trina and McTeague plan to be wed, she wins the lottery providing a catalyst for the further
decay of their character. After winning the five thousand dollars, the passport to doom that brings on
all the trouble, she begins to hoard the money and become stingy (Rexroth 345).
Just now, yielding to an impulse which often seized her, she drew out the matchbox and the chamois
sack, and emptying the contents on the bed, counted them carefully...She counted it and recounted it
and made little piles of it an drubbed the gold pieces between the folds of her apron until they shone

Are government whistleblowers acting in the public interest, or do they endanger the public by
exposing classified information? Just as government transparency has waned in recent years, there
have been several instances of very public national intelligence whistle blowing. Large scale leaks
such as those published by The Guardian and WikiLeaks have prompted debate on issues of
government secrecy, as well as the balance between security and liberty. High profile whistleblowers
like Bradley Manning, Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden have, at great personal risk, leaked

As history can attest, government whistleblowers act honorably for the greater good despite threat of
prosecution. Government transparency, especially in acts of war, is important to a functioning
democracy. J. William Leonard, former US classifications czar, In the documentary We Steal Secrets:
The Story of WikiLeaks, illustrates, To have those types of decisions, those types of deliberations,

Lucy and Ricky could have been well known neighbors from down the street. Many people are able
relate to this young couple, the Ricardo s, who were experiencing the hard times and trails of marriage
as typical Americans were. They lived in a brownstone in Manhattan with common struggles such as
paying the rent and affording household materials. The humor and jokes came along when ordinary
situations were amplified as Lucy managed to get herself into trouble time and time again, and ...

The Simpsons introduces us to their main characters as stereotypes. As an example, in an opening
sequence we see Homer at work, which is what a stereotypical father s role is. We are also shown
Homer going against the stereotype because he takes radioactive waste with him showing proof that
he is incautious. Also, Marge is shown shopping and taking care of the baby Maggie. Marge is the
perfect example of a stereotypical mother, in the sense that she is playing a role of a housewife and
takes care of the house. On the other hand, Marge frequently goes against the stereotype because she
appears to be the authority figure of the family and this is what the man of the house is supposed to
do. The Simpsons show contains parody pieces of truth that are magnified to absurdity. As you can see
sitcoms today reflect reality, in other words television now contains more pieces of truth than it did

society in an attempt to be realistic that they often miss the

initial evaluation. A follow up MRI also showed a ...decrease in the brachial plexus thickening and
hyperintensity. (Gazioglu) The patient in this case study experienced rare symptoms. Patients who are
usually diagnosed with brachial neuritis have severe pain in the shoulder and some even have
localized pain. Only a small number of patients have pain that subsides to the fingers of the affected
side. This case study supports the signs and symptoms along with the treatment that our team doctor
prescribed. When I asked him about the situation, he said that he asked her if she had the flu recently
because sometimes the brachial plexus can give off flu like symptoms such as a fever, fatigue, cough,
and runny nose. He said this condition is called brachial neuritis. He said the majority of the time it
affects one side of the shoulder and that s why he asked the golfer is she had any of the symptoms or
the flu during the break. He said that the muscles become weak and in some cases, paralyzed. For
treatment, Dr. Wallace said he prescribes pain relievers so it won t bother the patient as much. He said
in severe cases, the patient will undergo surgery and then see a physical therapist to help regain
strength in the shoulder. When I asked if he thought the golfer had had brachial neuritis he said most

#3 Affinity. This concept can be visually represented by water and its ability to take the shape of any
container. So when my father introduced me to this concept, my intellectual arrogance dismissed it,
seeing no value in creating a connection with others. However, seeking solace in cold logic and
thinking made me a callous individual on the outside. Thereby depriving me of being able to
communicate all of my ideas to others. Despite being around so many people, I might as well have
been drifting through the desert, always feeling alone. It got to the point to which I had a change of
heart and decide to understand affinity. Initially, I failed to see how I could create a connection with
others through resemblance in structure and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In high school, I felt that a vital part of my education was missing my freshman year since we did not
have to take any social studies class. This made me feel like we had been cheated in some way. So,
when I had the choice of taking college prep World History or Advanced Placement European History
the following year, I chose to take AP because I felt like history should be something challenging that
forces one to think and question information. I knew it would be rigorous, but if history doesn t make
you think critically, it carries no meaning. However, the first semester didn t go well and I failed.
Frustrated by this failure and feeling powerless, I dug in my heels the second semester and began to
study more and yet still wasn t getting the answers right. On the night before the AP European Test, I
made one final attempt to atone for my lackluster study skills earlier in the year by reading my
textbook cover to cover. It worked because I passed with a three on the AP exam and felt motivated to
do better come eleventh grade. I no longer stayed up all night or had to read the textbooks cover to
cover for AP US History class or AP English Language and Composition class. Although not my first
language, I had an adequate command of the English language and crafting my words in a unique way.
I had been studying U.S. History and so I giggled with glee when I saw the essay topics, confident I
would excel. When I received my test results this past July, I thought to myself, It s bizarre to have

Petri Dish Lab Report
General Biology Bryarra Tinoco
BIO102 Spring Semester 2015 February 24, 2015
Introduction For this lab the experiment was to test how effective the antibiotic properties were in four
substances. The hypothesis that I conducted for this lab was that if the disks containing the substances
had a zone of inhibition then the antibiotic effect could be measured and compared. The part that
would be measured is the diameter of the zone if inhibition. The independent variables would be the
substances (P 10, S 10, C 30, and TE 30) and the dependent would be the zone of inhibition which is
what would be measured. Some of the standardized variables for this experiment were the bacteria, the
petri dish, and the nutrient. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We measured the greatest diameter for each substance which told us the zone of inhibition. To
measure each we used a ruler and measured the diameters in millimeters. After recording each zone of
inhibition we copied our results onto the board and compared out answers to other classmates. After
comparing the results we then copied all the data onto a table and calculated the mean for each
substance plus the control. When we completed the table we then calculated the percent of difference
and placed the results into a table by using the means. After doing so, we created a graph that
illustrated the mean zone of inhibition for each one of the substances.
Results
In order to compare the difference of each substance we had to calculate the percent of difference for
each substance. The control vs the P 10 was calculated to be 65% which was the lowest percent. The
next substance which was not as high was the TE 30, when compared to the control it was 123%. One
substance that was higher was S 10, when it was compared to the control it was calculated to be 145%.
The biggest difference was C 30, when this substance was compared to the control it was 239%.

French Armistice Day During The First World War
From family to friends to moments of silence, French Armistice Day is different for all. This day is
celebrated due to the anniversary of World War I. Almost a century ago, the first great war ended.
With the end, a new tradition was introduced to the people. On November 11 every year, the French
people celebrate French Armistice Day. Every year on the 11th of November, many people are free of
work for the day. French Armistice Day is a national holiday and all stores, banks, post offices, and
many businesses are closed. However, major highways and transportation hubs are open. In Paris,
some stores and bakeries are open too. It is a day to remember those who died fighting for their
country during the first World War. French Armistice Day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Immanuel Kant Deontology Theory
Throughout history, wars over the meaning of equality have been expressed in many ways for the
purpose of establishing one standard to the meaning of equal. Equal is being treated with the same
respect regardless of gender. The theory of deontology has defined and developed the meaning of
equal within society. However, it has been a slow process. Miscommunication and misunderstanding
to the meaning of gender equality is responsible for personal and social tyranny. Happiness, fairness,
and dignity have risen from social roles, poverty, and health reform that defined the message to the
question of what it means to be equal and unequal among men and women using the deontology
theory as this essay will demonstrate.
Deontology is an ethical theory that focus on the will of a person. It is a philosophy about how people
ought to act. Deontology is non consequentialism. People s action should not play the role in
evaluating the act of morality. Duties and obligation are the target to the will of a person. There are
two important rules in deontology. The first rule is never treat people as a means to an end in
achieving a goal because it is disrespectful. The second rule is act in the manner that maxim the action
with the intent to developing into a universal law. Immanuel Kant is a philosopher of ethics.
According to an article titled Groundwork for the Metaphysic of Morals Immanuel Kant (2008) reads,
an action that is done from duty doesn t get its moral

There is so much to be said about the Divas Division in the WWE that it feels like a broken record
trying to be fixed over and over again. At the last NXT special NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, one
match that stood out the whole night was the bout between Becky Lynch versus Sasha Banks for the
NXT Women s Championship. The submission attempts, the chain wrestling, and the high paced
energy, both women brought out the best of each other and put on an amazing women s match through
out the whole night. Both women deserve to be on the main roster when they get the call up, but it s

simply not compelling or interesting. On NXT, all it took was a few video packages for Becky Lynch
to give her backstory and give fans a reasons to cheer for her, while on NXT was the tension between
Bayley and Emma. On the main roster, the Divas barely have decent storytelling surrounding the
Divas Championship, let alone given a low level storyline not surrounding the title. The reliance of
Total Divas for the past two years in my opinion probably hurt the division even more than it helped.
While it showcase the women on Total Divas and gave them some reasons to be on the show, it has

softball, there are still things that are difficult about it. The first thing about hitting that is different is
how we hit. In order for a baseball player to hit a 90 m.p.h. fastball or a softball hitter to catch up to a

One might not think much about the distance between bases, but in the game of softball and baseball it
can be everything. At the professional level of baseball, the bases are exactly 90 feet apart. The length
between bases in softball is 60 feet (Ask Jeremy). Something else people who don t play the game
might not think about is the distances of the fences. The minimum distance from home plate to the
nearest fence in baseball is 325 feet down the left and right field foul lines, and a minimum of 400 feet
to the center field fence (Ask Jeremy). For a 6 foot high fence, the minimum distance is 220 feet with
a maximum of 235 feet, and 190 feet down the left and right field foul lines (Ask Jeremy). Though it
might not make any difference to a fan or somebody watching, the distances of the fences make huge
differences, from hitting home runs to just simply playing in the outfield. The last thing would be the
difference in distances of the pitchers mound. In baseball, the top of the pitcher s plate is 10 inches
above the elevation of home plate. The distance between the pitcher s plate and home plate is 60 feet
and 6 inches...In softball, the pitcher s plate is at the same elevation as home plate. The distance
between the pitcher s plate and home plate is 43 feet (Ask Jeremy). This difference might be small but
in the actual game itself is a big deal. Not only because of how far away the mound is that is the
difference, but it changes how long you have to decide what you want to

High Performance Aromatic Polyimides ( Pis )
POLYIMIDE
High performance aromatic polyimides (PIs) possess various outstanding properties, such as high
thermal, mechanical, and chemical resistance and a low dielectric constant. Therefore, increasing
attention has been paid to the application of PIs to microelectronics, optoelectronics, and the
aerospace industry [3]. It is possible to apply graphene on conducting electrodes and films, sensors,
electromagnetic shielding materials and so on .In particular, polymer graphene composite materials
are the interesting candidates for heat dissipation application due to its excellent thermal conductivity.
Polyimides have a few limitations, such as low electrical conductivity, electrostatic accumulation, and
poor heat dissipation [4]. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Excellent properties such as extraordinary electronic transport capabilities, mechanical performance,
high surface area, and distinctive mechanical properties with fracture strains of ~25% and a Young s
modulus of ~1 TPa have opened new pathways for the development of a wide range of new functional
materials. However, poor dispersion in organic solvents limits the widespread use of graphene [3].
In relation to wearable technology Polyimide/Graphene when processed as fibers as threads or yarns
might possess exceptional qualities both in terms of mechanical and electrical properties. Later in the
literature we have discussed Polyimide fiber processing methods. Polyimide/Graphene film samples
with 10% 50% graphene have shown sufficient surface conductivity for bio potential sensing
applications. Conducting polyimide fibers can be used in dry sensing applications as a possible
replacement to conventional Ag/AgCl electrodes that require ionic gels or solutions for sensing.
In this study, we use an effective method for preparing PAA/Graphene composite materials via in situ
polymerization with graphene content of up to 50% for high performance nanocomposites. We study a
method of effectively electrodepositing PAA/Graphene films on various metallic substrates and then
curing them stepwise until complete immidization has taken place. Characterization

The United States And Soviet Union
Background
Since the end of World War II, long before the earliest events of the Heroes of Catholic Education
Series, a strange set of occurrences began to manifest itself as the United States and Soviet Union
faced each other as rivals in the subsequent Cold War. The Anomaly Phenomenon, a term denoting the
appearance of peculiar formations that defy scientific explanation, made its first appearance in the
small period of relative peace shortly after World War II, but before the Cold War and the formation of
NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Most people are unaware of it, sometimes out of ignorance and other
times because of government agencies seeking to prevent it from creating unnecessary civil disorder,
leaving only a few people who are aware of it.
With that being said, it is absurd for one to assert that the Anomaly Phenomenon itself is being
suppressed by someone, a group, an institution or a government. In fact, there are as many potential
customers willing to purchase Anomalies for large sums of money for the purpose of scientific
research. The scope of the ones interested in purchasing them from those who harvest them are usually
academics, universities, corporations, research groups, NGOs, governments, civilian and military
researchers, and even wealthy individuals willing to add them to their collections of rare curiosities.
To begin, in order to understand the Anomaly Phenomenon, one must first take in account the
definition of an Anomaly. Within the lore of the

Preserving The Good Within Ourselves
Preserving the Good within Ourselves: Fiction Superhero shows and movies have become incredibly
popular over the last decade. Whether you re an adult or a child, the variety of superhero shows and
movies appeal to all ages and have become an obsessive source of entertainment. With new
technology, superheroes and villains that were once pages in a comic book have come to life in ways
the older generation of fans would never have imagined. Ever since Christopher Reeve played
Superman in 1978, three sequels and many more remakes followed suit (Yueh). Ever since the original
X men film was released in 2000; half a dozen new movies have been released every year since which
totals to about 61 movies (Yueh). The Avengers along with four other films grossed more than 1
billion dollars in the box office, making movie history. What makes superheroes, as well as villains so
fascinating? For decades, society had found comfort, hope, and inspiration in superheroes. The idea of
having a superhero is fascinating because one person possess inherently good qualities to carry the
burden of others. A superhero is kind and fearless while continuously putting others before
themselves. They usually possess amazing abilities or powers, allowing them to handle a situation in a
way a normal person couldn t. They can be compared to Greek Gods, but because they also have flaws
we are able to relate and connect with them. Superheroes have the capacity to single handily make the

Summary Of Kitchen By Banana Yoshimoto
In the novel Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, Yoshimoto demonstrates that family is important when
coping with the difficulties of life. Yoshimoto shows this through the usage of the contrast of light and
dark, and the motifs of the kitchen, and food. One motif that used is food, which is used to represent
the presence of family, and how that aides coping. Yoshimoto uses the motif of the kitchen to
represent the ability of the family to help another family member cope. Yoshimoto uses the contrast of
light and dark to show that as the characters shift from feeling grief to joy, people who can be
considered family are involved. Yoshimoto uses the motifs of food and the kitchen along with the
contrast between dark and light to show that family is important when coping with the troubles of life.
Yoshimoto uses the motif of food to show that family can help cope with life s troubles. One example
of food representing family helping to cope, is when Mikage creates an international hodge podge
(Yoshimoto 62) for Yuichi after the death of Eriko. Before Mikage re entering Yuichi s life, Yuichi has
been drinking for a month (Yoshimoto, 63) which can be associated with the lots of instant dinners: a
clear indication of his recent eating habits (Yoshimoto, 60). Yuichi s terrible life style can be

All Quiet On The Western Front Essay
All Quiet on the Western Front Essay We learn about past wars in history. We hear stories from
soldiers that partake in these wars, but do we really understand what goes on out on that battlefield?
We would have to see and experience it ourselves to fully grasp why soldiers come back so scarred.
Not only physically but emotionally, and socially as well. All quiet on the Western Front by Erich
Maria Remarque is a story told by a soldier named Paul Baumer. He shares his experiences of his
service in World War one. The realities of the war and the death that surrounded Paul Baumer were so
epic that he didn t even feel like he was himself when he visited home. Dying in a war or getting
injured is considered a courageous act by society. Society doesn t know what the soldiers go through.

Persuasive Essay On Reckless Climbing
Impulsive Mountaineering ¨He who learns but does not think is lost! He who thinks but does not learn
is in great danger.¨ Confucius, a Chinese teacher. Every day there are many helicopter flights into
mountain base camps to rescue the reckless climbers. People ranging from age 13 80 years old set a
goal to climb Mount Everest, and unfortunately, some of these people pay for their thoughtless actions
with their lives. There have been hundreds of deaths due to bad weather, lack of oxygen, the short time
span, and the lack of skill. This is a problem because many of the climbers aren t at the right skill level
and sadly end up paying with their lives. Also some of these climbers who challenge themselves and
end up calling for rescue services cause the deaths of rescuers too. People should not have the right to
rescue services when they put themselves at risk the second they start climbing that mountain.
The first reason people should not have the right to rescue services is that climbers are starting to
become thoughtless with their risky decisions because they know there are rescue services, and
disastrously their lives are being taken away. There have been over 230 deaths on Mount Everest.
(Source 2: Lines 10 11). The average of mountaineering deaths is 25 deaths per year! Perhaps 200
dead bodies remain on the mountain. (Source 2 Line 15). I believe it is very pitiful that many people

The Green Gulch by Loren Eiseley
The author of Green Gulch conveys that when in a group, one can be overwhelmed by pressure that
brings them to savage extremes. After being lost, a young boy joins a group of kids he has never seen
before. The group is nice and offers to bring the boy home. They stop at a sanctuary of a pond. There
is a turtle in the pond that is violently murdered by the boys after one decides to throw a rock. Then,
the group turns on the new boy. They beat him maliciously and leave him stranded on the road to get
home. As, the boy look backs he can t think of what went wrong, They stood in a little group watching
me, nervous now, ashamed a little at the ferocious pack impulse toward the outsider that had swept
them. Obvious from the boys reactions, it was the fault of the group impulse. After the murder of
turtle, the adrenaline and riot of the group caused them to turn on the next vulnerable target. They
were not acting as they should have, and the realize that afterwards. They were nervous. Even though
there is not immediately an adult around, they are nervous because society has conditioned them to
behave. They are also ashamed. The shame shows that they are nice boys. They feel bad. This shows
that the vicious group mind set was so strong that it came over there good personalities and conscious.
However, there is only this slight remorse after the fact. This does not make up for the brutal murder
and beating that they had dealt. Being in a group turned them into

Analysis Of 24-Hour Psycho
Clearly heavily influenced by Douglas Gordon s 24 Hour Psycho, Don DeLillo decidedly creates a
somewhat parallel universe in which Jim Finley, the protagonist of Point Omega partakes in
voyeuristic acts and shares many odd similarities with 24 Hour Psycho s Norman Bates that illustrate
Finley as a clone of Bates, allowing the reader (and watcher) to understand both personas from a more
understanding perspective. The novella Point Omega immediately alludes to 24 Hour Psycho as the
epilogue presents a scene in which an anonymous voice we later confirm as Finley, explains his
ongoing thoughts and experience with the film playing in the background. We are able to observe
DeLillo s interest in 24 Hour Psycho which translates then into his character Finley, who displays his
captivation with the film through his own film. Finley is an aspiring filmmaker who seeks out Richard
Elster, a retired strategist during the Iraq War to star in his upcoming film project. During his time
spent learning about Elster s past, he stays with Elster in an under furnished house in the middle of the
desert, one with a scarcity of clocks or other time telling machines so that his time spent there is
literally immeasurable. And even within his own film, Finley allocates a lot of freedom for the
duration of his film. Once Elster begins sharing his experiences regarding the war and life as a whole,
Finley then turns his concern, or lack thereof, to the film s running time because to him, it could be

  • 2. Fedex, The Most Successful Companies Of The World Essay FedEx is considered one of the most successful companies in the world. When founder Fred Smith was in college, he wrote a paper that outlined a system that would deliver time sensitive items quickly (fedex.com). In 1971 his idea came to life and FedEx was born in Little Rock, Arkansas (fedex.com). In the 45 years they ve been operating they still keep their Purple Promise. That s the nickname of their motto to make every FedEx experience outstanding (fedex.com). Innovative services such as overnight shipping needed to match with excellent customer service. Their website, which was founded in 1994 (wired.com), allowed customers to track their packages within seconds. Package tracking allows a customer to follow their packages and gives peace of mind that important items have met their destination. Prior to the inception of their website, a customer would have to call to track their package. While still an option, many people prefer the ease of tracking from their computers or smartphones. Their application Ship Manager can be installed on a customers website so they can determine shipping charges and print labels from home or the office (textbook, p. 22). Instead of nurturing an isolated environment from business owners, FedEx looks to integrate their services within a businesses management information system. We allow customers to drag and drop names from their address books into FedEx Ship Manager, says FedEx CIO Robert Carter. The integration provided makes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The s Neo Noir Film Bladerunner And Mary Shelley s... The community surrounding a person, or the lack thereof, can often shape and define one s experience of the world. Ridley Scott s neo noir film Bladerunner and Mary Shelley s gothic novel Frankenstein, both of which are science fiction works that explore the complexities of genetic engineering and the consequences of the hubris it entails, demonstrate how one s prolonged solitude, whether voluntary or involuntary, results in a warped vision of the world that causes one to act irrationally through the characters of Victor Frankenstein, his monster and J. F. Sebastian. Firstly, Victor Frankenstein purposely confines himself to his laboratory, temporarily forgetting about his friends and family, thus leaving him with no one to caution him against meddling in the science of bestowing life. Seeing as he has little interest in acquainting himself with the townspeople of Ingolstadt, with the exception of M. Waldman, Victor fully immerses himself in his studies and becomes increasingly enraptured by his deranged ideas. He spends so much time endeavouring to finish his project that he no longer takes care of himself: My cheek had grown pale with study, and my person had become emaciated with confinement. (81, Shelley). Because Victor s withdrawal from society is deliberate, it is even more difficult for him to resign from his occupation of creating a new living being, wrongly believing that this new creature will love and praise him as a god. Perhaps it is the very fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Issues Of Financial Demands And Permits In reaching an agreement on the issues of financial demands and permits, our party thought that the last issue in the agenda was the press release; however, the mayors asked for an annual fixed payment of $250,000.00 per town from the corporation. While our party was not provided with an acceptable range to which we may agree upon as precluded by the confidential instructions, we instead offered to pay $200,000.00 as a low cost inducement instead, to which the mayors agreed upon. In an effort to reach an agreement with the counterparts to a positive press release of the corporation and its project, our party agreed to the payment in the spirit of the consensus decision rule because the need for the positive press release outweighed the need to minimize costs. In addition, the mayors offered to promote the project in the towns with the use of the $200,000.00 as a form of marketing expense, which the corporation could then respectively decrease from the marketing budget. In reaching an agreement on the issues of financial demands, permits, and fixed payments, each one of the parties were able to agree upon a positive press release with much ease, with an agreement that the mayors would take actions in order to prevent the potential blocking of the access to the site (see Appendix B for the final contract). • 5. University Of Michigan V. Ewing Case Brief In Regents of the University of Michigan v. Ewing, Scott Ewing sued the University of Michigan after he was dismissed from their medical program. The case took nearly three years to settle, eventually coming before the United States Supreme Court. The importance of viewing Rousseau s piece through an introspective lens is to allow Bahamians to appreciate that they should possess the freedom in relegating what art forms change and how they do instead of allowing the government (state) to control changes whether or not the people (sovereignty) want it to change. Rousseau really asserted that only the people, in the form of the sovereign have the all powerful right to legislate; that governments are not sovereign but merely a tool of the people who really comprise the Sovereign, which is the excrete of the general will of the people. A test of any aspect of the social contract is the extent to which the Sovereign body (the people) accepts the status quo. The commands of the rulers may pass for general wills where the Sovereign, even while free to, does not oppose them. Silence is taken to imply acceptance. The painting can be found today in the Contarelli Chapel in the french church San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. It is located in the chapel with two other paintings by Caravaggio, all about St. Matthew. The painting is telling a story from the Gospel of Matthew. It shows the moment that Jesus tells Matthew to follow him and become one of his apostles. The main characters in this painting are Matthew, Jesus, and Peter. It is hard to tell exactly who Jesus is pointing at since there are five men seated in front of him. However, the intensity of the light, probably from a door that was opened, takes the viewers eyes right to the bearded mans hand which he is pointing at himself in shock. Matthew is surprised that Jesus would pick someone like him. Caravaggio is showing his audience that even if you believe you are not holy enough, everyone is able to follow Christ. He gives his audience the ability to relate to St. Matthew. This tells us that he is Matthew. We all have the same age, and this is the first vacation we have without parents, aunts, and uncles around, telling us what to do. We arrived to Los Angeles, California at 11:00 pm, checked into the hotel and tried to rest. The next day we planned to drive around the city and wait for our friend Annette, who was coming from Texas. Annette was around twenty years old, but she had been traveling around the world with her father since she was 13. I admire her, she is funny, has a good temper, and is really knowledgeable about traveling. We are going to fly together to Mexico City first, and from there to Acapulco. The demographic transition was essentially a result of a decrease in chronic infectious diseases like tuberculosis, syphilis, diphtheria, measles, dysentery, and typhoid fever. Equal is being treated with the same respect regardless of gender. The theory of deontology has defined and developed the meaning of equal within society. However, it has been a slow process. Miscommunication and misunderstanding to the meaning of gender equality is responsible for personal and social tyranny. Happiness, fairness, and dignity have risen from social roles, poverty, and health reform that defined the message to the question of what it means to be equal and unequal among men and women using the deontology theory as this essay will demonstrate. Deontology is an ethical theory that focus on the will of a person. It is a philosophy about how people ought to act. Deontology is non consequentialism. People s action should not play the role in evaluating the act of morality. Duties and obligation are the target to the will of a person. There are two important rules in deontology. The first rule is never treat people as a means to an end in achieving a goal because it is disrespectful. The second rule is act in the manner that maxim the action with the intent to developing into a universal law. Immanuel Kant is a philosopher of ethics. At the last NXT special NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, one match that stood out the whole night was the bout between Becky Lynch versus Sasha Banks for the NXT Women s Championship. The submission attempts, the chain wrestling, and the high paced energy, both women brought out the best of each other and put on an amazing women s match through out the whole night. On NXT, all it took was a few video packages for Becky Lynch to give her backstory and give fans a reasons to cheer for her, while on NXT was the tension between Bayley and Emma. On the main roster, the Divas barely have decent storytelling surrounding the Divas Championship, let alone given a low level storyline not surrounding the title. The reliance of Total Divas for the past two years in my opinion probably hurt the division even more than it helped. While it showcase the women on Total Divas and gave them some reasons to be on the show, it has done nothing to help improve the division with weak storylines and meaninigless matches. There are very Softball and baseball are considered to be the same sport; although both have vast differences in the areas of batting, pitching, and the distance and timing of each sport. However, there aren t many differences in batting between baseball and softball, there are still things that are difficult about it. The first thing about hitting that is different is how we hit. One might not think much about the distance between bases, but in the game of softball and baseball it can be everything. At the professional level of baseball, the bases are exactly 90 feet apart. The length between bases in softball is 60 feet (Ask Jeremy). Something else people who don t play the game might not think about is the distances of the fences. The minimum distance from home plate to the nearest fence in baseball is 325 feet down the left and right field foul lines, and a minimum of 400 feet to the center field fence (Ask Jeremy). For a 6 foot high fence, the minimum distance is 220 feet with a maximum of 235 feet, and 190 feet down the left and right field foul lines (Ask Jeremy). Though it might not make any difference to a fan or somebody watching, the distances of the fences make huge differences, from hitting home runs to just simply playing in the outfield. The last thing would be the difference in distances of the pitchers mound. In baseball, the top of the pitcher s plate is 10 inches above the elevation of home plate. High Performance Aromatic Polyimides ( Pis ) POLYIMIDE High performance aromatic polyimides (PIs) possess various outstanding properties, such as high thermal, mechanical, and chemical resistance and a low dielectric constant. Therefore, increasing attention has been paid to the application of PIs to microelectronics, optoelectronics, and the aerospace industry [3]. It is possible to apply graphene on conducting electrodes and films, sensors, electromagnetic shielding materials and so on .In particular, polymer graphene composite materials are the interesting candidates for heat dissipation application due to its excellent thermal conductivity. Polyimides have a few limitations, such as low electrical conductivity, electrostatic accumulation, and poor heat dissipation [4]. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In relation to wearable technology Polyimide/Graphene when processed as fibers as threads or yarns might possess exceptional qualities both in terms of mechanical and electrical properties. Later in the literature we have discussed Polyimide fiber processing methods. Polyimide/Graphene film samples with 10% 50% graphene have shown sufficient surface conductivity for bio potential sensing applications. Conducting polyimide fibers can be used in dry sensing applications as a possible replacement to conventional Ag/AgCl electrodes that require ionic gels or solutions for sensing. In this study, we use an effective method for preparing PAA/Graphene composite materials via in situ polymerization with graphene content of up to 50% for high performance nanocomposites. We study a method of effectively electrodepositing PAA/Graphene films on various metallic substrates and then curing them stepwise until complete immidization has taken place. Characterization ... The United States And Soviet Union Background Since the end of World War II, long before the earliest events of the Heroes of Catholic Education Series, a strange set of occurrences began to manifest itself as the United States and Soviet Union faced each other as rivals in the subsequent Cold War. The Anomaly Phenomenon, a term denoting the appearance of peculiar formations that defy scientific explanation, made its first appearance in the small period of relative peace shortly after World War II, but before the Cold War and the formation of NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Most people are unaware of it, sometimes out of ignorance and other times because of government agencies seeking to prevent it from creating unnecessary civil disorder, leaving only a few people who are aware of it. With that being said, it is absurd for one to assert that the Anomaly Phenomenon itself is being suppressed by someone, a group, an institution or a government. In fact, there are as many potential customers willing to purchase Anomalies for large sums of money for the purpose of scientific research. The scope of the ones interested in purchasing them from those who harvest them are usually academics, universities, corporations, research groups, NGOs, governments, civilian and military researchers, and even wealthy individuals willing to add them to their collections of rare curiosities. • 35. Persuasive Essay On Reckless Climbing Impulsive Mountaineering ¨He who learns but does not think is lost! He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.¨ Confucius, a Chinese teacher. Every day there are many helicopter flights into mountain base camps to rescue the reckless climbers. People ranging from age 13 80 years old set a goal to climb Mount Everest, and unfortunately, some of these people pay for their thoughtless actions with their lives. There have been hundreds of deaths due to bad weather, lack of oxygen, the short time span, and the lack of skill. This is a problem because many of the climbers aren t at the right skill level and sadly end up paying with their lives. Also some of these climbers who challenge themselves and end up calling for rescue services cause the deaths of rescuers too. People should not have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at risk the second they start climbing that mountain. The first reason people should not have the right to rescue services is that climbers are starting to become thoughtless with their risky decisions because they know there are rescue services, and disastrously their lives are being taken away. There have been over 230 deaths on Mount Everest. (Source 2: Lines 10 11). The average of mountaineering deaths is 25 deaths per year! Perhaps 200 dead bodies remain on the mountain. There is a turtle in the pond that is violently murdered by the boys after one decides to throw a rock. Then, the group turns on the new boy. They beat him maliciously and leave him stranded on the road to get home. As, the boy look backs he can t think of what went wrong, They stood in a little group watching me, nervous now, ashamed a little at the ferocious pack impulse toward the outsider that had swept them. Obvious from the boys reactions, it was the fault of the group impulse. After the murder of turtle, the adrenaline and riot of the group caused them to turn on the next vulnerable target. They were not acting as they should have, and the realize that afterwards. They were nervous. Even though there is not immediately an adult around, they are nervous because society has conditioned them to behave. They are also ashamed. The shame shows that they are nice boys. They feel bad. This shows that the vicious group mind set was so strong that it came over there good personalities and conscious. However, there is only this slight remorse after the fact. • 38. Analysis Of 24-Hour Psycho Clearly heavily influenced by Douglas Gordon s 24 Hour Psycho, Don DeLillo decidedly creates a somewhat parallel universe in which Jim Finley, the protagonist of Point Omega partakes in voyeuristic acts and shares many odd similarities with 24 Hour Psycho s Norman Bates that illustrate Finley as a clone of Bates, allowing the reader (and watcher) to understand both personas from a more understanding perspective. The novella Point Omega immediately alludes to 24 Hour Psycho as the epilogue presents a scene in which an anonymous voice we later confirm as Finley, explains his ongoing thoughts and experience with the film playing in the background. We are able to observe DeLillo s interest in 24 Hour Psycho which translates then into his character Finley, who displays his captivation with the film through his own film. Finley is an aspiring filmmaker who seeks out Richard Elster, a retired strategist during the Iraq War to star in his upcoming film project. During his time spent learning about Elster s past, he stays with Elster in an under furnished house in the middle of the desert, one with a scarcity of clocks or other time telling machines so that his time spent there is literally immeasurable. And even within his own film, Finley allocates a lot of freedom for the duration of his film. Once Elster begins sharing his experiences regarding the war and life as a whole, Finley then turns his concern, or lack thereof, to the film s running time because to him, it could be ...
