Benefits Of Having A Green Building
A green building is a structure that is eco friendly to the environment and does not harm the nature
that is present around it. The word eco friendly is familiarized through sustaining and conserving the
environment and its crucial features that help keep this world running and thriving. It is the
consequence of humans to continue to use harmful chemicals and materials that may destroy the world
and its atmosphere entirely. The greenhouse project in biology demonstrated a small model of a
possible green house that is friendly to the nature and environment around it and can overall
encourage the use of healthy products and actions. Benefits of having a green house is that it will help
the environment, encourage sustainability of natural resources, and will overall benefit the consumers
economically. Benefits of having a greenhouse is that it will help the environment. For example, the
use of having an eco friendly house will help to reduce the impact humans have on the environment
(The Nest). A friendly house to the environment will lower negative impact on the world. It will allow
the world to continue to relieve its functions without major harmful intervening from human beings.
The actions of creating this kind of house can help with the depletion of the Earth s functions so the
rest of human beings may live on this Earth without a negative consequence. Another reason eco
friendly houses have benefits is because it will help with the use of electricity

Portryal of Andy as a Symbol of Hope in Shawshank...
In 1994, Frank Darabont s film The Shawshank Redemption received a poor reception when released;
it only made a $0.3m profit. More recently the film has become known as one of the greatest movies
of all time, it has inspired hope in many people, helping them to lose weight, leave abusive marriages
and such like. The film is based mainly upon two convicts, and the idea of hope. Andy Dufresne is a
Hot Shot Banker imprisoned with two life sentences, for the suspected murder of his wife and her
lover and Red (Morgan Freeman) whom Andy redeems hope in, along with the other convicts, saving
them from institutionalisation. One of the ways in which Andy saves himself is by making projects for
himself. The first thing that Andy does is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Red is very reluctant to accept hope, even stating in the film Hope is a dangerous thing; hope can
drive a man insane and this is expressed through shadows cast on him whilst Andy is shown in the
light. This idea of hopelessness exaggerates the redemption of hope expressed later on in the film, an
example of this is right at the very start of the film when the man is beaten so badly by the prison
guards that he dies, Andy s asks a key question that nobody can answer; What was his name? . This
hopelessness is then contrasted when the friendships are formed later on in the film, when everybody
becomes close, which is confirmed when Andy bargains with the guards and consequently wins three
bottles of beer for each of his work mates. Andy s friends and he are regularly shown laughing
together or helping one another to cope, Darabont successfully reflects hope into the eyes of the
viewer through these friendships. Gestures such as the harmonica illuminate this point when Red
begins to create music. Music is constantly used in the film as an icon of hope; it is used throughout
the whole film in various different ways, to express and exaggerate different emotions that the
characters are feeling. We are able to track the change of emotions and the feelings towards the idea of
hope that the convicts in Shawshank have, making the build up of hope increasingly noticeable to the
viewer. The main use of Music

Women s Role In African American History
Primary claim: African American has been an active agent in early American history since the first
African slave arrived in America in 1619, Africans has left many carbon footprints in America s
history to remember their suffering, their spirit in fighting, their culture; the Africans were major
players in all aspect of social system and economically.
Cultural Context: African American may have been force to servitude until their last breath but they
did not any shape forgotten their roots and identity for they continued their language, their religious

Summary Of Murnau s The Last Laugh
Friedrich Willhelm (F.W.) Murnau s The Last Laugh (1924) holds a special place within silent film
(Bordwell 2016). It is the film that made Murnau popular with American audiences, and in turn, its
success lead him to move to Hollywood and eventually make masterpieces (not to say that The Last
Laugh itself isn t a masterpiece), such as Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Both films evoke
the surreality of life, but unlike the celebratory Sunrise¸ The Last Laugh laments life s predestined
nature. Murnau dramatizes this lamentation through the contrast of the real with the fanciful and
through his use of doors.
From the first shot, The Last Laugh manages to be both hyper realistic and utterly whimsical. We are
whisked down the elevator and out the constantly revolving door into a city, that while appearing to be
real at first, is just a painted backdrop. But Murnau spares no expense to fool the audience; he even
has figures moving inside the painted towers, which to the untrained eye cause the towers to seem
real. Alas, the towers are fake, but these moving figures serve a larger purpose than just to be a tool to
suspend the audience s belief. They add to the busy aesthetic of the The Last Laugh. The world
Murnau has created is a hectic one where One day you are preeminent, respected by all, as the
opening title announces, and the next you are a nobody, and before you know it, life has passed you
by. This is the case for our unnamed protagonist (Emil Jannings) who is now

King Henry V And Branagh s Adaptation Of France
Known as the most celebrated writer in the English language and the world s renowned dramatist,
William Shakespeare was a poet, playwright and an actor. Around 1599, William Shakespeare wrote
Henry V, a historical play about King Henry V of England, focusing on what happened at the Battle of
Agincourt which took place on October 25, 1415, Saint Crispin s Day, in northern France. In 1944,
Laurence Olivier did an adaptation of Henry V into a screenplay as well as Kenneth Branagh in 1989
who also directed the 1989 film. Believing it is God s will, King Henry V of England is driven to add
France to his kingdom and make Princess Kathrine of France his queen. As a young man, Henry was
known for his drinking and also keeping unsavory company.

The Subgenre Of The Genfield Genre
The thriller genre has undergone many changes and phases throughout the past, which is evident in the
changes within its subgenres, each of which has its own distinctions. Some subgenres of the thriller
genre include the detective thriller and the suspense thriller. Alfred Hitchcock revolutionized the
thriller genre during his lifetime. In fact, his work defined a whole subgenre of the thriller: the
suspense thriller. The thriller genre has evolved and developed over the history of film and has
changed throughout the postclassical and modernist periods. In the postclassical period, films would
focus more on developing the character of the protagonist rather than the antagonist. The backstory
and motives of the antagonist would not be a driving force in a film during that period. In the
postclassical period, the elements of good and evil in the films are usually very distinct as well with
little to no grey zone. However, as time passed, there was a transition from the postclassical period to
the modernist period which also brought about changes in some of the aspects of cinema. During the
modernist era, there was a greater emphasis on the antagonists of a film. Films would oftentimes give
antagonists some more attention and backstory than they did before. There was also not as clear of a
distinction between good and evil; there was oftentimes a grey zone which allows the audience to feel
empathy for the antagonist. This newfound focus on the antagonists can be seen in Murder

Marxist Criticism Is Always Concerned with the Class...
The main aim of Marxism is to bring about a classless society. Thus the reason I chose to study
George Orwell s Animal Farm is because its characters share (originally) this same ambition. Animal
Farm represents the oppressed masses rising up and forming a classless society of their own. While
offering a critique of communism in general, the book also serves to act as a mirror of Soviet Russia
under Stalin. As reflected throughout the text, it was no secret Orwell considered Russia, and
consequently Communism, a counter revolutionary force that would inevitably become corrupted by
greed and power. Indeed, perhaps in order to go further in offering a Marxist reading of the text, it is
necessary to pass judgement on the author and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed this illusion of democracy is further emphasized when the animals are asked questions by the
pigs; questions to which there can be only one possible reply. In a sense the rhetorical questions act as
a tool to reinforce the false class consciousness:
It is for your sake that we pigs drink that milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen
if we pigs failed our duty? Jones would come back! Surely comrades... surely there is no one among
you who wants to see Jones come back? (p.23)
Althusser calls this Interpellation. A process where by a person is made to feel like they have a choice,
when actually the choice does not exist. Peter Barry offers an example: You can have any colour you
like... as long as it s black
Animal Farm can also be linked to another theory. The German philosopher Friedrich Hegel offered
the notion that contrasting ideas can be bring about new situations, this is known as the dialectic.
Thus, a process whereby contradictions are inherent to its structure becomes particularly relevant
when discussing Animal Farm.
Hegel s dialectic was constructed around three key concepts: the thesis, the antithesis and the
resolution. What Karl Marx did was effectively reinterpret Hegel s work and relate it to his own
concepts based on class struggle. Thus, Hegel s thesis becomes Marx s the way

The Five Stages Of Sleep
Most sleepers pass through five stages; 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. A complete
sleep cycle lasts between 90 to 110 minutes, once the cycle is completed it starts back at stage one and
repeats itself. Stage 1 is a very light sleep, where you can drift in and out of sleep and you are easily
awakened. Eye movement and muscle activity will begin to slow down. People most commonly
experience muscle contractions throughout stage 1. When stage 2 begins eye movement has stopped
completely and our brain waves begin to slow down. It is in stage 3 where a person will experience
delta waves in the brain, these are very slow brain waves. The delta waves in stage 3 are intercepted
with a few smaller, faster waves. In stage 4 the brain is only producing delta waves. Stages 3 and 4 are
known as deep sleep, it is very hard to wake someone if they are in a deep sleep because there is no
eye movement or muscle activity. Stages 1 4 are the longest stages of sleep lasting between 4 to 7
hours a night. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stage is also the shortest of the stages, lasting around 90 120 minutes per night. During REM
sleep epinephrine is released and the person s breathing speeds up and becomes irregular. There is a
lot of eye movement during REM sleep, however, there is not a lot of muscle activity because the limb
muscles are temporarily paralyzed. A person s heart rate and blood pressure rise and their brain waves
are equal to those of a fully awake and functioning person. Most dreams typically occur during REM
sleep due to the fact that the brain is highly active. If a person is waken during REM sleep they are

They are trying to blame the fast food industry for their obesity claiming that fast food is a major
contributor to the problem. Tying obesity directly to fast food is a much harder task than tobacco to
cancer, because there has not been any scientific research showing that fast food is the main cause or
that it is addictive. Obesity is thought to be the number one killer in America (Parks), but there are
many factors that contribute to the epidemic such as genetics, exercise routine, environment, illness,
prescriptions, diet, and emotional health.
Obesity leads to a number of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,
stroke, and certain types of cancer ( NIDDK ). Obesity in it self is a hard health problem for a person
to deal with, but some of these other diseases usually come along in association making the problem
even worse. Certain disease are related more to women than to men. Obese men are more likely than
non obese men to die from cancer of the colon, rectum, or prostate (NIDDK ). Scientific research is
making the cure for cancer easier, but there are still many cancer patients that doctors are unable to
treat. Obese women are more likely than non obese women to die from cancer of the gallbladder,
breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries (NIDDK ). Cancer is not the only health problem that the body

What Is The Most Important Result Of The Columbian Exchange
Issue Paper 2
Tino LoGerfo
History 105
What many people only know about Christopher Columbus s expedition is that he found the
Americas. While this is true, he did find a completely new frontier that was unknown to the Old
World, his findings re shaped global consumption patterns from the seventeenth century. He found a
New World filled with resources that the old world hasn t seen before. When he found the new world
he brought with him European plants and animal species that were foreign to the citizens of the New
World. The Columbian Exchange introduced many foods that are still essential to consumption in
today s world along with the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The potato is a prime example of
how the Columbian Exchange changed global consumption patterns because it was nutritious and had
an abundant amount of calories in it and caused a mass population increase in areas where the potato
was available. The use of slaves also increased exponentially when sugar cane was introduced. This
was a very cheap, productive way to produce a large amount of sugar and it was used by many Old
World countries. The findings of these new world products created a rise in global consumption and
production because products were introduced to the both the New World and the Old World and there
instantly became a large spike in the availability of products. Along with this, the old world decided to
go out and get themselves involved in the New World because they saw an opportunity

Vocational Education’s Image for the 21st Century Essay
Vocational Education s Image for the 21st Century
These are hard times for secondary vocational education. Leaders of the new school reform movement
do not give it high priority. They assume that it is separate from general education, has little
educational value, and should be replaced by a predominantly academic curriculum. At best vocational
courses are expected to provide students who are not college bound with minimal training for low
status jobs at entry level (Silberman 1986). Ask a vocational educator to name the most serious issues
facing the field today, and most will rank our image problem high on the list ( What Do People Think

The reasons varied, but the one most often cited was public image: negative baggage associated with
the word vocational (Ries 1997).
This ERIC Digest gives a brief overview of strategic marketing and how it can build a stronger image
for vocational education.
Let s Get Serious about Image Building
In recent years, industries such as health care, finance, and law have been aggressively marketing their
services. This departure from tradition is a response to sweeping changes in technology,
demographics, and new customer demands. Vocational education, like other service industries, must
respond to such change. Vocational education has much to gain from capitalizing on the benefits of a
comprehensive marketing approach. For a number of years, marketing professionals have urged
vocational educators to get serious about image building. Some of their more pertinent advice follows.
Shields (1989) feels that vocational education can weather the assaults on its contributions to school
by aggressively marketing itself. He offers these steps for marketing vocational education:
1. Identify internal (teachers, counselors, students, school board members) and external (parents,
taxpayers, civic groups, and professional organizations) markets you want to sell on vocational
education.
2. Build your network and tap into it. Assign each staff person

How Does Lee Show Optimism In Maycomb In The 1930 s
Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird is set in Maycomb, a fictional town in Alabama, in the 1930 s.
Through its strong themes of racism and discrimination, the novel could portray a depressing view on
life, but it s outcome is the opposite. The novel shows great optimism and hope for the future through
many reason, but largely centering with the perspective of the novel through a young child, Jean
Louise Scout Finch. Through her juvenility, she shows pure honesty and shows optimism through Jem
and herself, their father Atticus and the well known conviction of Tom Robinson.
Through the eyes of the young Scout, Harper Lee interjects the firm foundation on which the book lies
on, optimism. Scout and Jem Finch grew up in Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930 s. Maycomb was a
town full of racial discrimination, and swarmed with offensive views. Through this way of life, Scout
and Jem grew up and matured quickly, living in their explicit culture. From a young age, Scout and

Effective Approaches in Leadership and Management Nurses demonstrate the core values of
professionally caring for others in two different prospects. Huber (2014), notes that nurses have two
basic roles: care providers and care coordinators (p. 3). Most significantly nurses are valued in the
setting of patient care, while the coordinator role revolves around management and organizing care,
using thinking skills to coordinate complex activities. Nursing is multifaceted, although direct quality
patient care is of significance, a positive leader or manager is also essential to support the recent

A roll out date with super users available to troubleshoot and maintain staff productivity and
compliance would be beneficial. The last aspect of strategic management is evaluating the
effectiveness of strategies used. Huber (2014), describes analysis needs to review four areas: strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) (p. 334). Through prioritization, the threats are
avoided, weakness are lessened and strengths are empowered to increase patient safety with
medication administration, by insuring patients receive the right drug at the right time to the right
patient (Weston Roberts, 2013. para. 11). Most importunately, applying shared governance or allowing
decision making amongst the staff, allows leaders to inforce equality in the nursing workforce. Shared
governance is an important current focus in nursing practice, as the desire for increased autonomy and
accountability is encouraged with voicing of nursing opinions to assist in better quality healthcare.
Huber (2014) mentions that shared governance is a partnership between management and clinical
staff. Research suggests that registered nurses who are empowered to make decisions through shared
governance have higher nurse autonomy and increased confidence in decision making (p. 249). As
discussed, positive personality qualities, use of strategic management and including the partnership of
shared governance all directly facilitates a leader or mangers

The Nature of Warfare
Throughout history the nature of warfare has remained the same, it is a violent clash of interests
between or among organized groups characterized by the use of military force, however, the character
of war is constantly changing. The means by which wars are fought are no longer limited to easily
identifiable conventional forces, nor do non traditional actors abide by the same set of international
standards and rules of law. The United States can no longer expect to face a purely conventional
threat. As a result, the U.S. military must be prepared to conduct both regular and irregular warfare
successfully, although irregular warfare is more challenging and poses a greater threat to U.S. strategic
objectives. All conflicts contain elements of both regular and irregular warfare and the nature of the
conflict can easily shift between them. As a result, the U.S. military must maintain the ability to be
prepared to do both successfully and one must not come at the expense of the other. The 2012 Defense
Strategic Guidance asserts the Wholesale divestment of the capability to conduct any mission would
be unwise, based on historical and projected uses of U.S. military forces and our inability to predict
the future. Traditional and non traditional warfare are not mutually exclusive and one form of warfare
should not take priority over the other, so it is critical that the U.S. military balance the capabilities
necessary to succeed across a wide spectrum of operations.

Blood Vessels Of The Body Form A Closed Delivery System
Blood vessels of the body form a closed delivery system that begins and ends at the heart. There are
three major types of blood vessels: arteries, veins, and capillaries. If any of those arteries or veins
become damaged or blocked, you ll be at risk of developing heart disease, heart attack or stroke. It s
important that you do all you can to take care of your circulatory system, and exercise is an invaluable
tool that can help you keep the road to a long and healthy life free and clear.
A healthy diet is a major factor in many health issues, on such type of health issue is when the arteries
or blood vessels have a build up or harden. Diets that include fruits and vegetables, five servings or
more, as well as low fat starches and healthy proteins with the addition of healthy fats will go a long
way to keeping your blood vessels in healthy shape. Eating healthy foods as well as watching your

Coronary artery disease is a condition in which the inside of the artery is narrowed by a buildup of

Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily Essay
Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a tragic tale of a Southern aristocrat, Miss Emily Grierson,
who is the subject of a town s obsession. The narrator, a member of the town, tells the story of what
transpires in a decaying old Southern house that is always under the watchful eye of the townspeople.
They witness Miss Emily s life, her father s death, her turn to insanity and the death of both her and
her lover. The theme of death runs throughout this tale, which is understandable considering the events
that take place in the story. Faulkner uses foreshadowing to foretell events that will transpire later in
the story. Because of this foreshadowing, a reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This description of Emily s hair is important, because one of Emily s hairs will be found next to
Homer s body, and it also shows how Emily is decaying like the house and items inside. Early in the
story Emily writes a letter on stationary of an archaic shape and with fading ink . The references here
are to the way she is always described growing older and decaying. Even Emily s house shares her
short squat characteristic and coquettish decay .
The insanity of Miss Emily is also foretold in A Rose for Emily. When the body of Homer is found in
her bed, the reader can understand that Emily killed him, because her mental stability had been
questioned a number of times. The narrator begins these allusions to her mental state when he tells
how the mayor, Colonel Sartoris, bestows a special tax exemption upon Miss Emily. Colonel Sartoris
makes up a story so unbelievable that it is described as so outlandish that only a woman could have
believed it . Later, the townspeople talk about her great aunt, the lady Wyatt, who had gone completely
crazy. They wonder about poor Emily with the insanity in her family. Her mental state comes into
question again when the town removes the body of her father. She is said to have broke down and
finally let them in to take and bury the body. This is an obvious analogy to her having a mental
breakdown. This is followed with the statement that the townspeople did

The Chruch s Treatment Of Heretics During The Medieval Ages
During the medieval period, the Catholic faith was one of the largest practiced religions, if not the
largest. When one can encompass the wide range of power and influence, as the Church had done, it
can eventually become difficult to maintain absolute control. That was the case for the Catholic
Church as it dealt with heresy and heretics, as is evident in the readings from Michael Goodich, and
Robert Ian Moore. In this essay, I will discuss how the Chruch s treatment of heresy, and treatment
towards the heretics, was a means for them maintain control and power within the Church. The
Church attained a large amount of power and wide range of influence during the medieval period. To
the Church, heresy was a threat to the power and control they had obtained. In order for the Church to
have maintained that control, a plethora of actions were taken to ensure that heretics could be rooted
out. In the reading from Goodich, various steps had been taken to ensure that the heretics were dealt
with. For example, the reading states, We have decided that all property of those who are heretics or
will be in the future is to be confiscated and occupied. Forcibly extracting the heretics from their
property, the Church could effectively displace them, since without having any land they could not
attain much power. Furthermore, the Church would then occupy the property it confiscated from the
heretics. By doing this, it allowed the Church to obtain even more land, which in turn would

The Effects Of The Market Revolution On The 18th Century
Jihoon Jun DBQ
From the early to 18th century the Market Revolution had tremendous and lasting impacts on the
Northern, Southern and Western economies. The Revolution brought about new technological
inventions as well as an influx of immigrants to new lands. The effects of the Market Revolution on
Northern, Western and Southern societies are evident in various ways. For the North, the revolution
gave way to the increase in population because of immigrants. Contrary to this, the West experienced
advancements and developments in technology due to the Revolution and inventors such as Eli
Whitney. Lastly for the South, the Market Revolution created different perceptions on the various
social effects the movement had on society.
In the Northern society, the Market Revolution gave way to the plethora of immigrants that settled in
the North. Between 1840 and 1860 many individuals in different nations sought freedom from
poverty, social division and various other factors. In fact, during the mid 18th century, roughly 2
million Irish, 1.5 million Germans, and 750,000 Britons settled in the Northern United States. From
this time period, 88% of the immigrants were either English, German or Irish (Doc. 4). This graph
clearly illustrates the overall immigration as a whole; however, this document fails to address the fact
that this sudden immigration also had some negative consequences. The event also resulted in a
fragmented society. In other words, artisan republicans,

Should Schools Keep Junk Food
Keep junk foods in school cafeterias The controversial topic of childhood obesity has been going on
for a long time and because of it, many schools are debating if they should ban junk food from school
cafeterias or not. There are many opinions on what step should be taken to solve this problem. Some
say too ban junk food and some say it should not be banned. It should be up to the kids and the parents
as too what kids eat and not the government. By banning junk food in one place doesn t mean it s
going to stop them from eating sugary foods they can get it from another place. One of the reasons
why junk food should not be banned from school cafeteria is because the cafeteria isn t the only
source kids have too unhealthy foods. Kids in school can go just around the block to the gas station or
minimart and buy all sorts of junk foods, probably even more than what they can buy in school from
vending machines and the lunch lines combined. Like Rosenthal said, at some open campus schools
have made it a practice to walk to nearby mini marts and gas stations to buy the same products they
used to purchase in the vending machines (9). This quote tells us that campuses have made it easier for
students to go out during school and or afterschool to purchase the junk food they want. A school
administration recently did an experiment to see if students could purchase individual food and
beverage items, either from vending machines, school store, canteen, snack bar or a la carte

Daniel Levinson s A Conception Of Adult Development
Hi Lillie, Thank you for sharing such an excellent post and drawing attention to such a profound and
systemic issue in our global culture. Researcher Daniel Levinson in A Conception of Adult
Development addresses the issue of the role of gender in adult life development. Levinson and his
colleagues believed that women go through the same developmental periods as men, although some of
the specific issues might differ between men and women. Based on the study, the small proportion of
women at senior management levels suggests that many women do not move beyond jobs in lower
and middle levels of management (Greenhaus, Callanan and Godshalk 323), indicating the reality of a
proverbial glass ceiling. This particular study caught my attention

Care For Health Campaign Essay
The care for health campaign was the first family planning promotion to be done in Russia and it
helped increase the use of modern contraceptives by 12%. It was part of the women´s reproductive
health program (WRHP) which involved training of health care providers, advocacy and research.
This intervention resulted in increase in family planning counselling for women, longer continuation
rates of contraceptives and increase in clinic attendance for family planning in the intervention areas.
This program was birthed in 1994 by the US Agency for international development to improve the
health of children and women by promoting the change in the current family planning communication

The objectives of a campaign should resonate with the strategy (Myanmar, 2013). This is the point
where one asks questions such as what do I need to do to achieve the overall goal of the campaign? In
this case, one of the campaign objectives was to increase knowledge and positive attitudes towards
modern contraceptives. In so doing, the campaign would be meeting the overall strategy which was to
bring family planning to the public arena and to highlight its importance.
Choosing an age bracket is also essential as one is able to seclude the target audience in order to make
the campaign strategy more effective. The age bracket for women chosen was 18 30. This was also an
appropriate age since it is the prime age for reproduction.
One of the activities done was to disseminate the family planning message through national television.
The airtime was donated by the prime minister then. This was effective as the message reached
women throughout Russia and the neighboring countries. The campaign also used a disco event to
promote family planning communication.

Food Safety In Health And Social Care Essay
Employers must ensure that food safety legislations are implemented and adhered to in the workplace.
Employers of food businesses or organisations must also appoint an employee or two or more people
to ensure that workers comply with Food Safety and Health and Safety legislations. In most
organisations and businesses, administration implements such policies. In care settings such as
hospitals or schools, the Health and Safety Officer creates and implements such policies. Health and
Safety Officers or managers play a significant role in ensuring work environment is safe, secured and
free from danger. For example in care setting such as primary schools, it is the responsibility of a

Swastika In Ww2 Propaganda
On July 4th, 1776, America declared independence from British rule. Since then, the United States has
always been a free nation. This newly found independence would mean that citizens were granted
many rights including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms. America is
one of the few countries that has had this great amount of freedom for so long. As Americans, people
tend to pride themselves in the ability to choose how they wish to live their lives. In this propaganda
poster from World War II, it depicts a boot crashing in to a white church. One of the largest messages

This symbol dates back many years ago before Hitler even designed the Nazi flag. In German, the
word translates to good fortune or well being. Shortly after the Nazis adopted this symbol, it became
the most recognizable icon of Nazi Propaganda. It appeared on the flag, posters, arm bands,
medallions, and badges for the military and other organizations. This symbol not only represents the
Nazi party and their way of thinking, but it also represents their willingness to fight for their beliefs.
Seeing this symbol typically makes Americans angry and motivated for war, which makes it of great
significance in the use of propaganda. The background in this poster uses both dark and light colored
clouds with some blue sky peeking through. The smoke like clouds in this scene indicate that there
may be fire somewhere in the distance. This fire could possibly be Nazi fires in Europe destroying
European liberties. These fires appear to be far away which suggests that they have not reached
America yet but have the potential to become hazardous to Americans. The blue sky coming through
the dark clouds represents the fact that there is still hope for America to win and prevail in

Iowa s Own Backpocket Brewing
Iowa s Own Backpocket Brewing I grew up in a working class family and that meant working class
beer. Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old Style, and Milwaukee s Best were the beers of choice at every BBQ or
Superbowl party. When I became old enough to drink beer, I learned that the old standards became
standard because they were cheap, not because they were interesting. In the Midwest we love our meat
and potatoes, and our boring beer. These are both hold overs from another time, when goods could not
move as far, or as fast as they do today. Although some craft brews are completely original, most of
them are variations on classic recipes. These personal touches are what give breweries their own
identity. In one way beer is a lot like food; ingredients and styles vary regionally, but it all starts out
much the same. So what makes one beer more interesting than another? It begins with the brewer,
choosing ingredients, mixing flavors, and making subtle changes. Most of the different styles of beer
have been around for many years, however, craft brewing was something that few people had heard of
thirty years ago. Since then it has steadily gained momentum. These days most grocery stores carry a
staggering variety of imported and domestic craft beers. One company has turned a love of traditional
German beer into a local landmark . Backpocket Brewing of Coralville, Iowa produces several
varieties of beer, some are available all the time, others are seasonal, or even a one time run.

figure that one out). Countless times I have fallen into a trap of setting high expectations to achieve a

Jean Michel Basquiat Research Paper
During an era where the American art scene carried out a delimiting appraisal of African American
artist in the mainstream media, Jean Michel Basquiat comes into sight. The late 1870s New York City
street art scene becomes the venue for Basquiat s appearance as SAMO . His work is synonymous
with the market booms of the 1980s, and during this time he grew into one of the most influential
artist of the occurring international movement that was ultimately ruled by figurative painting. The
untrained quality of his painterly work reflects the intense, conceptual nature of his paintings,
although, to some, the roughness of Basquiat s high art style might not seem sophisticated. In contrast,
Basquiat s work offers a look into his concern for portraying a spiritual experience while at the same
time achieving a balance with a poetic aspect and accompanying visual attributes. Basquiat s aesthetic
of his collage style paintings plays on the contingency of the mainstream s racial constructions.
However, much repeated is the standard issue biography of his life: his multi racial upbringing (Puerto
Rican American mother, Haitian father); his quick rise to fame and his ... Show more content on

Mass Extinction Of Dinosaurs
The mass extinction of the Dinosaurs has been a subject of interest and dispute for many scientists
over the years. There are many different theories on what happened to them: did some planetary
destruction happen, did they die out, were they wiped out, or was it the cause of something not of this
planet. This question and this need to solve the mysteries of the world has continued to draw scientists
in for the never ending search for the answer. Scientists have worked tirelessly in an attempt to
discover the truth, and their hard work has warranted some results. In Mexico in the Turquoise waters,
scientists have discovered a crater where they believe an asteroid or comet struck earth which helped
cause one of the largest mass extinctions in the history of our planet. They call it, Chicxulub, and they
know of it as the killer of dinosaurs. They found evidence of this event first in the layers of rock in the
earth. Scientists discovered that when you look at the different layers of rock that depict the history of
our planet certain fossils just stopped showing up. The discovery was that at some point certain living
creatures on this planet simply no longer lived to create fossils. A discovery made by scientists in the
1980s showed there were large deposits of Iridium in the earth during the time all these creatures
suddenly disappeared. Iridium is not that common on this earth, but it is common on asteroids; thus
the belief of the steroid hitting earth. Scientists believe

payment to lease the parcel of land for the expected 20 year life of the project.
Bob thought the amount retailers in the shopping center would be willing to pay per square meter of
floor space would be a decreasing function of the total size of the shopping center. Bob did some
initial work estimating the likely relationship between what tenants would be willing to pay for retail
space and the size of the shopping center. Specifically, he thought there was a 50% chance the true
relationship would be: r = 60 0.001s and a 50% chance that the true relationship would be r = 50
0.001s where r is the rental rate per square meter of floor space and s is the total size of the shopping
center in square meters. Furthermore, Bob was going to assume that once the shopping center had
been built, the realized relationship between r and s would remain unchanged for the next 20 years.
Bob was planning to ignore discount rates and the time value of money in his initial evaluation of the
project. He was going to treat all of the project s costs and benefits equally no matter when they

The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth Essay
The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth
In William Wordsworth s The World is Too Much With Us, this poem heeds warning to his generation.
This warning is that they are losing sight of what is actually important in this world: nature and God.

God is not sin enough, we add to it the insult of pride for our rape of His land (Wordsworth). With his

that even when the sea bares her bosom to the moon (5) and the winds howl, humanity is still out of

For this, for everything, we are out of tune; (8) proposes that even in the spectacle of a storm, human

and metaphors alluding to mankind s greed, nature s innocence, and the speaker s rejection of
accepted principles all serve to illustrate the speaker s passion to save his generation (Gill).

Advantages Of Homogenization In Proteomics

Mechanical Methods of Homogenization in Proteomics
1. Introduction
Proper sample preparation is an integral part of all omics approaches, and can drastically impact the
results of a wide number of analyses. One of the key components of sample preparation is
homogenization. The term Homogenization can be understood in various aspects and some of its most
common usages can be to describe mixing and dispersing. But, in essence, the aim of homogenization
is to obtain a homogenous mixture i.e. the sample obtained has same composition throughout its total
volume.
Now, homogenization for sample preparation in proteomics can be done by the following 5 ways:
1. Mechanical methods
2. Sonication
3. Use of pressure
4. Use of Temperature
5. Osmotic and detergent lysis

Organizational Effectiveness Of An Organization
Organizational effectiveness is the concept of how effective an organization is in achieving the

understanding of a clear vision, sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly,

Decision and structure has to have clear roles and accountability for decisions, also needs
organizational structure that supports objectives.
Nonprofits appear to attract good talent and do a remarkable job at placing the right people in the right
places. On the contrary, these employees (the people) do not feel that their work is well aligned to the
priorities of the organization. Organizations on average have a hard time evaluating, developing, and
rewarding staff consistent with the organizations priorities. This not being surprising at all, given
leadership scores on setting and communicating priorities. Communication is extremely important for
the success of an organization. A majority of bosses communicate far too little amongst their
organization. It is tough for busy business owners and executives to keep their employees up to date
on the latest organizational news, which is understandable. This is why organizations have
management teams. Regardless, you should do everything is your power to get employees the
information they need to do their jobs effectively, quickly and efficiently. Make time for employees.
When an employee needs to talk with you, whatever the situation may be, make sure that you set aside
the time to do so. Lastly, recognize their achievements. Every employee want to do a good job while
on the job and love to be recognized when they do, prizes don t have to always

Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God Analysis
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Johnathan Edwards details the significance of God s wrath
over the wicked and unbelieving Israelites. Johnathan Edwards cleverly explains the reasoning behind
why God punishes the unbelieving, the way that he does. Edwards writes this sermon to inform
sinners of the fatal agony that will be bestowed upon them if they continue to rebel in God s name and
do not save themselves. His use of vivid imagery, symbols, and content contribute to the power and
persuasiveness of the torturous fate of God s wrath to sinners.

...their foot shall slide in due time... (156.4) This line symbolizes the punishment that God has
prepared for the wicked Israelites. Not only will they slip into the punishment, but it will happen very
soon and when they least expect it. This is very important in persuading the audience that God is near
and his wrath would fall upon them at any given moment. Edwards does a good job at explaining this
line in a multitude of views during his sermon. ...to come to that place of torment... (159.26) That
place of torment represents Hell. Throughout the entirety of the sermon, Hell seems to mean torment,
wrath, and destruction. To use the word torment gives off the sense that God s wrath is ultimately
horrible and the symbolization shows that. ...eternal death... (160.1) This line showcases the results of
eternal damnation and tells the audience that the sinner may never again live and may not die happily.
This is a powerful aspect in Edwards sermon because it serves the purpose to scare unbelievers into
the fact that God s wrath will never turn out good in the end. The symbols in this essay do good to
explain certain aspects of God s wrath without having to actually state the

  • 2. Benefits Of Having A Green Building A green building is a structure that is eco friendly to the environment and does not harm the nature that is present around it. The word eco friendly is familiarized through sustaining and conserving the environment and its crucial features that help keep this world running and thriving. It is the consequence of humans to continue to use harmful chemicals and materials that may destroy the world and its atmosphere entirely. The greenhouse project in biology demonstrated a small model of a possible green house that is friendly to the nature and environment around it and can overall encourage the use of healthy products and actions. Benefits of having a green house is that it will help the environment, encourage sustainability of natural resources, and will overall benefit the consumers economically. Benefits of having a greenhouse is that it will help the environment. For example, the use of having an eco friendly house will help to reduce the impact humans have on the environment (The Nest). A friendly house to the environment will lower negative impact on the world. It will allow the world to continue to relieve its functions without major harmful intervening from human beings. The actions of creating this kind of house can help with the depletion of the Earth s functions so the rest of human beings may live on this Earth without a negative consequence. • 3. Portryal of Andy as a Symbol of Hope in Shawshank... In 1994, Frank Darabont s film The Shawshank Redemption received a poor reception when released; it only made a $0.3m profit. More recently the film has become known as one of the greatest movies of all time, it has inspired hope in many people, helping them to lose weight, leave abusive marriages and such like. The film is based mainly upon two convicts, and the idea of hope. Andy Dufresne is a Hot Shot Banker imprisoned with two life sentences, for the suspected murder of his wife and her lover and Red (Morgan Freeman) whom Andy redeems hope in, along with the other convicts, saving them from institutionalisation. One of the ways in which Andy saves himself is by making projects for himself. The first thing that Andy does is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Red is very reluctant to accept hope, even stating in the film Hope is a dangerous thing; hope can drive a man insane and this is expressed through shadows cast on him whilst Andy is shown in the light. This idea of hopelessness exaggerates the redemption of hope expressed later on in the film, an example of this is right at the very start of the film when the man is beaten so badly by the prison guards that he dies, Andy s asks a key question that nobody can answer; What was his name? . This hopelessness is then contrasted when the friendships are formed later on in the film, when everybody becomes close, which is confirmed when Andy bargains with the guards and consequently wins three bottles of beer for each of his work mates. Andy s friends and he are regularly shown laughing together or helping one another to cope, Darabont successfully reflects hope into the eyes of the viewer through these friendships. Gestures such as the harmonica illuminate this point when Red begins to create music. Music is constantly used in the film as an icon of hope; it is used throughout the whole film in various different ways, to express and exaggerate different emotions that the characters are feeling. We are able to track the change of emotions and the feelings towards the idea of hope that the convicts in Shawshank have, making the build up of hope increasingly noticeable to the viewer. • 5. Summary Of Murnau s The Last Laugh Friedrich Willhelm (F.W.) Murnau s The Last Laugh (1924) holds a special place within silent film (Bordwell 2016). It is the film that made Murnau popular with American audiences, and in turn, its success lead him to move to Hollywood and eventually make masterpieces (not to say that The Last Laugh itself isn t a masterpiece), such as Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Both films evoke the surreality of life, but unlike the celebratory Sunrise¸ The Last Laugh laments life s predestined nature. Murnau dramatizes this lamentation through the contrast of the real with the fanciful and through his use of doors. From the first shot, The Last Laugh manages to be both hyper realistic and utterly whimsical. We are whisked down the elevator and out the constantly revolving door into a city, that while appearing to be real at first, is just a painted backdrop. But Murnau spares no expense to fool the audience; he even has figures moving inside the painted towers, which to the untrained eye cause the towers to seem real. Alas, the towers are fake, but these moving figures serve a larger purpose than just to be a tool to suspend the audience s belief. They add to the busy aesthetic of the The Last Laugh. The world Murnau has created is a hectic one where One day you are preeminent, respected by all, as the opening title announces, and the next you are a nobody, and before you know it, life has passed you by. This is the case for our unnamed protagonist (Emil Jannings) who is now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Subgenre Of The Genfield Genre The thriller genre has undergone many changes and phases throughout the past, which is evident in the changes within its subgenres, each of which has its own distinctions. Some subgenres of the thriller genre include the detective thriller and the suspense thriller. Alfred Hitchcock revolutionized the thriller genre during his lifetime. In fact, his work defined a whole subgenre of the thriller: the suspense thriller. The thriller genre has evolved and developed over the history of film and has changed throughout the postclassical and modernist periods. In the postclassical period, films would focus more on developing the character of the protagonist rather than the antagonist. The backstory and motives of the antagonist would not be a driving force in a film during that period. In the postclassical period, the elements of good and evil in the films are usually very distinct as well with little to no grey zone. However, as time passed, there was a transition from the postclassical period to the modernist period which also brought about changes in some of the aspects of cinema. During the modernist era, there was a greater emphasis on the antagonists of a film. Films would oftentimes give antagonists some more attention and backstory than they did before. There was also not as clear of a distinction between good and evil; there was oftentimes a grey zone which allows the audience to feel empathy for the antagonist. This newfound focus on the antagonists can be seen in Murder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Marxist Criticism Is Always Concerned with the Class... The main aim of Marxism is to bring about a classless society. Thus the reason I chose to study George Orwell s Animal Farm is because its characters share (originally) this same ambition. Animal Farm represents the oppressed masses rising up and forming a classless society of their own. While offering a critique of communism in general, the book also serves to act as a mirror of Soviet Russia under Stalin. As reflected throughout the text, it was no secret Orwell considered Russia, and consequently Communism, a counter revolutionary force that would inevitably become corrupted by greed and power. Indeed, perhaps in order to go further in offering a Marxist reading of the text, it is necessary to pass judgement on the author and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed this illusion of democracy is further emphasized when the animals are asked questions by the pigs; questions to which there can be only one possible reply. In a sense the rhetorical questions act as a tool to reinforce the false class consciousness: It is for your sake that we pigs drink that milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed our duty? Jones would come back! Surely comrades... surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back? The German philosopher Friedrich Hegel offered the notion that contrasting ideas can be bring about new situations, this is known as the dialectic. Thus, a process whereby contradictions are inherent to its structure becomes particularly relevant when discussing Animal Farm. Hegel s dialectic was constructed around three key concepts: the thesis, the antithesis and the resolution. What Karl Marx did was effectively reinterpret Hegel s work and relate it to his own concepts based on class struggle. Thus, Hegel s thesis becomes Marx s the way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Five Stages Of Sleep Most sleepers pass through five stages; 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. A complete sleep cycle lasts between 90 to 110 minutes, once the cycle is completed it starts back at stage one and repeats itself. Stage 1 is a very light sleep, where you can drift in and out of sleep and you are easily awakened. Eye movement and muscle activity will begin to slow down. People most commonly experience muscle contractions throughout stage 1. When stage 2 begins eye movement has stopped completely and our brain waves begin to slow down. It is in stage 3 where a person will experience delta waves in the brain, these are very slow brain waves. The delta waves in stage 3 are intercepted with a few smaller, faster waves. In stage 4 the brain is only producing delta waves. Stages 3 and 4 are known as deep sleep, it is very hard to wake someone if they are in a deep sleep because there is no eye movement or muscle activity. They are trying to blame the fast food industry for their obesity claiming that fast food is a major contributor to the problem. Tying obesity directly to fast food is a much harder task than tobacco to cancer, because there has not been any scientific research showing that fast food is the main cause or that it is addictive. Obesity is thought to be the number one killer in America (Parks), but there are many factors that contribute to the epidemic such as genetics, exercise routine, environment, illness, prescriptions, diet, and emotional health. Obesity leads to a number of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and certain types of cancer ( NIDDK ). Obesity in it self is a hard health problem for a person to deal with, but some of these other diseases usually come along in association making the problem even worse. Certain disease are related more to women than to men. Obese men are more likely than non obese men to die from cancer of the colon, rectum, or prostate (NIDDK ). When he found the new world he brought with him European plants and animal species that were foreign to the citizens of the New World. The Columbian Exchange introduced many foods that are still essential to consumption in today s world along with the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The potato is a prime example of how the Columbian Exchange changed global consumption patterns because it was nutritious and had an abundant amount of calories in it and caused a mass population increase in areas where the potato was available. The use of slaves also increased exponentially when sugar cane was introduced. This was a very cheap, productive way to produce a large amount of sugar and it was used by many Old World countries. The findings of these new world products created a rise in global consumption and production because products were introduced to the both the New World and the Old World and there instantly became a large spike in the availability of products. • 13. Vocational Education’s Image for the 21st Century Essay Vocational Education s Image for the 21st Century These are hard times for secondary vocational education. Leaders of the new school reform movement do not give it high priority. They assume that it is separate from general education, has little educational value, and should be replaced by a predominantly academic curriculum. At best vocational courses are expected to provide students who are not college bound with minimal training for low status jobs at entry level (Silberman 1986). This departure from tradition is a response to sweeping changes in technology, demographics, and new customer demands. Vocational education, like other service industries, must respond to such change. Vocational education has much to gain from capitalizing on the benefits of a comprehensive marketing approach. For a number of years, marketing professionals have urged vocational educators to get serious about image building. Some of their more pertinent advice follows. Shields (1989) feels that vocational education can weather the assaults on its contributions to school by aggressively marketing itself. He offers these steps for marketing vocational education: 1. The Nature of Warfare Throughout history the nature of warfare has remained the same, it is a violent clash of interests between or among organized groups characterized by the use of military force, however, the character of war is constantly changing. The means by which wars are fought are no longer limited to easily identifiable conventional forces, nor do non traditional actors abide by the same set of international standards and rules of law. The United States can no longer expect to face a purely conventional threat. As a result, the U.S. military must be prepared to conduct both regular and irregular warfare successfully, although irregular warfare is more challenging and poses a greater threat to U.S. strategic objectives. All conflicts contain elements of both regular and irregular warfare and the nature of the conflict can easily shift between them. As a result, the U.S. military must maintain the ability to be prepared to do both successfully and one must not come at the expense of the other. The 2012 Defense Strategic Guidance asserts the Wholesale divestment of the capability to conduct any mission would be unwise, based on historical and projected uses of U.S. military forces and our inability to predict the future. When one can encompass the wide range of power and influence, as the Church had done, it can eventually become difficult to maintain absolute control. The Church attained a large amount of power and wide range of influence during the medieval period. To the Church, heresy was a threat to the power and control they had obtained. In order for the Church to have maintained that control, a plethora of actions were taken to ensure that heretics could be rooted out. In the reading from Goodich, various steps had been taken to ensure that the heretics were dealt with. For example, the reading states, We have decided that all property of those who are heretics or will be in the future is to be confiscated and occupied. Forcibly extracting the heretics from their property, the Church could effectively displace them, since without having any land they could not attain much power. Furthermore, the Church would then occupy the property it confiscated from the heretics. By doing this, it allowed the Church to obtain even more land, which in turn would ... Specifically, he thought there was a 50% chance the true relationship would be: r = 60 0.001s and a 50% chance that the true relationship would be r = 50 0.001s where r is the rental rate per square meter of floor space and s is the total size of the shopping center in square meters. Furthermore, Bob was going to assume that once the shopping center had been built, the realized relationship between r and s would remain unchanged for the next 20 years. Bob was planning to ignore discount rates and the time value of money in his initial evaluation of the project. He was going to treat all of the project s costs and benefits equally no matter when they occurred in the life of the project; that is, he was going to treat a $1 cost incurred (or revenue ... He says that even when the sea bares her bosom to the moon (5) and the winds howl, humanity is still out of tune. These lines (5 7) suggest that nature is helpless and unknown to the destruction man is doing. For this, for everything, we are out of tune; (8) proposes that even in the spectacle of a storm, human beings (adults) look on uncaringly implying that we, humans, don t realize the damage we are inflicting on helpless nature (Wordsworth). The symbolism created by the images and metaphors represent Wordsworth s deep passion about the conflict between nature and modern progress. Images and metaphors alluding to mankind s greed, nature s innocence, and the speaker s rejection of accepted principles all serve to illustrate the speaker s passion to save his generation (Gill). The final part, the sestet, Wordsworth wishes that he were a pagan (a heathen) raised according to a different vision of the world, so that, standing on this pleasant lea (Nicholas), he might see images of ... • 35. Advantages Of Homogenization In Proteomics Parth Garg (2011BB50032) BEL722 Term Paper Mechanical Methods of Homogenization in Proteomics 1. Introduction Proper sample preparation is an integral part of all omics approaches, and can drastically impact the results of a wide number of analyses. One of the key components of sample preparation is homogenization. The term Homogenization can be understood in various aspects and some of its most common usages can be to describe mixing and dispersing. But, in essence, the aim of homogenization is to obtain a homogenous mixture i.e. the sample obtained has same composition throughout its total volume. Now, homogenization for sample preparation in proteomics can be done by the following 5 ways: 1. Mechanical methods 2. Sonication 3. Use of pressure 4. Use of Temperature 5. Osmotic and detergent lysis Mechanical Methods Mechanical methods are generally used for hard and filamentous cells such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
