The Black Of Black And 70s
Movies are more than a form of entrainment. They are pieces of art that express social and political
problems within the culture. The Black male character and culture has not always been a predominant
figure in films like they are today. The display of the African American culture in film has progressed
through the years. It has progressed by the change of racism displayed on screen, the character roles,
and the emergence black figures and society in motion pictures. (How racism is depicted in the films
Black face we would see it again) With movies such as Guess Who s Coming to Dinner, Shaft, Do The
Right Thing, and Madea s Family Reunion. People see the transformation of black cinema throughout
the years. Films of the 60s, 70s, and 80s have significant differences from contemporary productions
as the standards of culture shift in the decades. Before the audience can note the rise of black figures
and standards in film. They must have recognition of the history of black cinema before its transition
into the mainstream. Displays of black character roles and black culture from earlier films like Birth of
a Nation (1915) and Gone with the Wild (1939) have a different representation on the view of black
society and how racism was addressed in those times. In these earlier films blacks were not given
main roles in cinema. Blacks Americans were typically given minimal roles and true to race roles such
as servants, slaves, butlers and etc. African Americans did not have a

Summary Of The Swallow Man
Section 1, Passage 1 There was no question that the tall stranger was not a reassuring presence. There
was a menace to him, a quiet intensity that was no way akin to the sort of quality that people cultivate
in order to attract the affections of children. All the same though, there was something in him perhaps
the part, that had spoken so easily to the swallow that fascinated her. (22)
After her father is taken by soldiers, a family friend, Herr Fuchsmann, allows Anna to stay at his shop.
When Doktor Fuchmann decides he can no longer care for Anna, he kicks her out. While sitting on the
curb, Anna meets the Swallow Man. This passage is the first time Anna sees the Swallow Man. She is
instantly drawn to him. This passage s description of the Swallow Man stood out to me. The author
describes the character as both reassuring and mencing. This mix of opposite traits captures the
Swallow Man perfectly throughout the book: he is a wonderful caretaker to Anna, but in certain
circumstances, can become a completely different person.
Section 2, Passage 2 Your name is just like your shoes, said the tall man. You have to be able to get rid
of it to give it over to someone else. All right, said Anna. So, said the thin man. You ll give your name
to me? You still get to hold it, but when someone calls it out, or asks you what yours is, you must
remember: Anna isn t you name. (48)
After he allows Anna to join him, the Swallow Man begins teaching her how to survive a war.

Ethnographers Relevance in Aiding the Understanding of...
Introduction Ethnography is the study that facilitates the understanding of social interactions,
behaviors and perceptions of individuals that are social, economic, and cultural in nature.
Ethnographers study various aspects that present social connotations within diverse groups of people,
teams, institutions, and societies. Its aim is to foster effective provision of credible information and
insights pertaining to people s views actions including nature (Kuper, 2006, p. 1). This paper gives
credible information about ethnographer s relevance in aiding the understanding of diverse social
issues that confront most people in the societies presently. The social issue captured is based on a

However, some people oppose the policy citing that it is the right of the citizens to ensure adequate
protection. They hold that the policy should not apply as it is bound to infringe of the citizens basic
rights (Totten Pedersen, 2012, p. 468). In my perspective and attitude, I think the introduction of gun
control policy is a good idea whose time has come. This is evident since it will facilitate the
prevalence of sanity in the nation that operates under strong democratic ideals. Gun control should be
encouraged at all cost as it holds the capacity of eliminating social insanity. The existing similarities
with the group to be put under study is that we are all US citizens who believe in respect to humanity,
life, and rights, however, we differ on the moral aspect and the extent to which the use of guns should
be allowed. I do not support the imposition of strict gun control policy although the group thinks that
the policy should not be applied. I am not a native anthropologist, however, I like interacting with
people of diverse background to understand the major issues that affects them including social
matters. My aim of understanding the underlying issues is to contribute by influencing individuals
viewpoints especially on issues that require critical thinking (Kuper, 2006, p. 1). For instance, I would

Culture Adopted By American Cowboys
The cultures of history can still represent what goes on today. ( David Crabtree) The cowboy age is
one of those cultures. Cowboys are hired workers for farmer. A cowboy is a hired hand who helps herd

important thing is a Cowboy s gear. Cowboys got most of their ideas from Mexican cowboys called
Vaqueros (Vah Kair ohs). The hat comes from the big sombrero Mexican cowboys wore. The rope was

cowboy. The cowboy also fashioned his wardrobe and much of his equipment from cowhide. For
example the hat kept snow , rain , and the sun of the cowboys face. A coat would

Ethical Dilemmas Of The Health Care Of Dr. Vivian Essay
All medical providers have a duty to protect the health and dignity of their patients. Even if that is the
intention of the provider, specific ethical dilemmas in healthcare may arise making it difficult for the
provider to make an ethically appropriate choice. Wit, directed by Mike Nichols, takes the viewer
through the healthcare of Dr. Vivian Bearing, an English professor, as she embarks on an eight month
experimental treatment to hopefully cure her stage IV ovarian cancer. As Dr. Bearing undergoes this
treatment, ethical issues arise regarding her healthcare that compromises her well being and dignity.
George D. Pozgar points out that ethics is concerned with values relating to human conduct that
focuses on the rightness and wrongness of actions, as well as the goodness and badness of motives and
ends.1 It is clear in the film that the actions taken by the medical providers, violated ethical principles
within the scope of health care such as patient dignity and respect, patient autonomy, and consent to
research/treatment. According to AAPA, a principal value of healthcare professions is to respect the
health, safety, welfare, and dignity of all human beings.2 It is evident in the film that the team of Dr.
Kelekian and Dr. Posner, who are in charge of Dr. Bearing s treatment, disregards these human rights,
that healthcare providers swear to protect. Throughout the movie, Dr. Kelekian and Dr. Posner view
Dr. Bearing more as a research experiment than a patient. In one

Emily Dickinson Hope
In the poem Hope Is The Thing With Feathers by Emily Dickinson establish a metaphors of hope
through a bird. Hope is thinking for the author as a bird that continues to grow inside her. Even though
she expresses her dark times, hope gives her some motivations to face it. In this poem Dickinson
symbolizes bird as hope, in which she describes hope as something anybody can touch. The author
uses iambic trimeter rhythm with and extra syllable in the first and third lines of each stanza and also
repetitions. Dickinson realizes hope as a something that never stop growing within humanity no matter
what going on. She describes the concept of hope to a feathered bird that constantly is in the heart of
every human. She talks about how to react to hardship as human beings. She also shows the storms of
potential effects on the bird. She suggests that Hope is a constantly grow that human create after or

Dickinson gives hope some wings to keep it alive in human hearts and minds. She describes how bird
has difficult times for example when is winter, bird needs to create nest to be warm. But nevertheless
people create hope when they have a problem. She explains that a bird has wings and flies but no one
can take away its ability to fly. Likewise, humans have the hope that no one can destroy or remove it.
The bird s characteristics stated in this poem is intended to symbolize the hope of a better life. The
other symbols are Gale and Storm . They symbolize the hardship we go through in life. This hardship
repress hope but hope continues to fly and never ends. In the third stanza, Dickinson continues to use
symbols as in the chilliest land and the strangest Sea . Those symbolize the difficult condition of life
in where the hope is perpetual. The last symbol used is a crumb . It symbolizes a return that the hope

`` Our Story `` By Susan Griffin
In many places throughout the world there are rigid top down cultures and theories on education.
These cultures have been seen in World War II Germany, in literature, and in education. It has been
shown throughout history that these cultures can and will cause many problems to fester as a result.
These issues include the manufacturing of sheep like masses that simply follow what they are told and
taught, the culture losing its ability to distinguish between what is morally right and wrong, and the
forced masking of emotions and true feelings. The only way to prevent a culture from simply
manufacturing sheep like masses is by encouraging people to not be afraid to stand out in a crowd and
allowing, and even embracing, free thinking.
In Our Story by Susan Griffin there is a complex story involving Heinrich Himmler that she uses to
explain exactly how rigid top down societies and an expectation to be normal can cause a culture to
lose its ability to think critically on a subject. Her first example describes how Himmler grew up in
German in the early 20th century, and how it affected his life and the course of history. In that time the
culture of Germany was of strong patriarchal values and held an expectation of men to be a strong and
masculine image. The problem with this expectation and Himmler is that Himmler did not fit this
image. As a child he was labeled frail and vulnerable, which was not acceptable in German culture at
this time. Because of this he always felt

Is Hunting Ethical
Hunting has been around since the beginning of man. Early humans hunted to survive in the harsh
world. Hunting is still used to supply a source of food for many, but it has turned into a recreational
sport for some. The turn from means of survival to sport has spurred the argument over whether or not
hunting is humane or ethical. Hunting is very ethical because can help stop overpopulating species,
slow overgrazing, and be used as a source of food.
Overpopulating species can become very bad for an ecosystem. When a species goes unchecked for a
long period time, their population will quickly rise. The number of the animal will soon get too high
for the ecosystem to be able to supply food for them. This will cause a number of the species to begin

They rely solely on the food that they can hunt down and make themselves. Hunting allows them to
survive the lifestyle they live. The living of the land lifestyle can only happen if hunting is allowed
because wildlife is part of the land. If hunting was ever outlawed, then numerous amounts of people
will lose their only source of food.
There are many organizations that oppose the idea of hunting citing that it is very inhumane to kill a
defenseless animal. PETA, for example, is a group that views hunting as a barbaric act of savagery.
They want to outlaw hunting because it hurts animals. They also preach about living a vegetarian life.
However, this is just not possible. The human body was designed to live off of the proteins found in
meat. This is why the basic instinct of man is to hunt and eat meat.
The argument over hunting being humane and ethical is quickly becoming a hot topic. It has many
backers on both sides. Hunting positively affects many families all over the world. Hunting is a very
beneficial act for the environment as it controls overpopulation, stops overgrazing, and provides food
for people all over the

The Battle of Midway affected the world in many ways and how sea power would affect the Second
World War. Sea power and strategy would affect the world in just a span of a couple of days during the
battle of midway. We had a severe disadvantage, so we used the power of our carriers and luck to
change history in a moment. McClusky and Waldron attacked miraculously at the same time and
destroyed the Kido Butai. We were losing the war, and we failed on many attempts to win the battle

The Japanese sent subs to Dutch Harbor. They sent some of their forces to a Dutch Harbor where a
shipyard was and some minor forces were. They had 10 task forces that were sent to midway, and the
carriers were in the back. Before the battle had started, the Japanese stopped communication between
each other, they stopped the radio dialog between each other to stop the chances of the Americans on
hearing their plans. There was a fog of war that was over the Japanese when they started this, they did
not help each other, if the Americans mobilized to strike. The Americans made a huge stride to victory
when they figured out the messages from the Japanese commander Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku,
Japanese fleet commander, chose to invade a target relatively close to Pearl Harbor to draw out the
American fleet, calculating that when the United States began its counterattack, the Japanese would be
prepared to crush them. Instead, an American intelligence breakthrough the solving of the Japanese
fleet codes enabled Pacific Fleet commander Admiral Chester W. Nimitz to understand the exact
Japanese plans. Nimitz placed available U.S. carriers in position to surprise the Japanese moving up
for their preparatory air strikes on Midway Island itself (John Prados).

The First Political Parties Essay
Today, political parties can be seen throughout everyday life, prevalent in various activities such as
watching television, or seeing signs beside the road while driving. These everyday occurrences make
the knowledge of political parties commonly known, especially as the two opposing political parties:
the Republicans and the Democrats. Republican and Democrats have existed for numerous years,
predominantly due to pure tradition, and the comfort of the ideas each party presents. For years, the
existence of two political parties has dominated the elections of the president, and lower offices such
as mayor, or the House of Representatives. Fundamentally, this tradition continues from the very

and not nearly as well executed as Hamilton s. As a result, Washington allowed for the bank act to be

Constitution. Later, the very viewpoints which Jefferson argued against in the debate over the bank,
were implemented in his plan for the Louisiana Purchase occurring in 1803.5 Here, Jefferson made a
deal with France to purchase, in exchange for fifteen million dollars, territory which would ultimately
double the size of the United States. Although the purchase was extremely successful and dramatically
expanded the size of the United States, Jefferson undermined his very idea of strictly interpreting the

CWC must ensure that their business plan and budget will ensure their long term survival.

The Executive Director is formulating an Operating Budget recommendation for the next year. He has

surplus to provide protection against unforeseen events.

Tuberculosis, An Airborne Disease
Tuberculosis, an airborne disease, infects people through inhalation of mycobacterium tuberculosis,
which is called droplet infection, and is potentially fatal to its victims. (Muller, 2011).
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the causative agent for tuberculosis. There are 19 registered types of
mycobacterium that are associated with tuberculosis, which are identified and differentiated by culture
of the organism and the disease kills around 1.7 million people each year.
Tuberculosis is primarily found in areas of poverty and is the number one killer of people who have
contracted HIV. Evidence of the presence of Tuberculosis has been traced back to the Ancient
Egyptian era as evidence of tubercular decay has been found in the spines of mummies. Tuberculosis
was also very prevalent and a wide spread killer in both ancient Greece and Imperial Rome. As time
has progressed, various scientific discoveries have occurred which have been able to loosen the grip of
tuberculosis on the world and significantly reduce its death rate. These include; the discovery of the
mycobacterium tuberculosis, discovery of the Bacille Calmette GuƩrin vaccine and development of
both curative and preventative drugs.
Tuberculosis is most prevalent in developing countries, particularly in South East Asia and the
Western Pacific regions, which account for 58% of new cases globally. However, Africa also has a
very high rate of tuberculosis infection with 281 cases per 100,000 population in 2014. In 2014,

Professional Ethics
Introduction
Professional ethics are the standards set by people in their professions. By setting standards in the
form of professional ethics, people in their professions work together to uphold their positions and
reputations. An organization expects theirs employees to represent them ethically as they are part of
the organization. Policies are another type of standards or code of ethics set by the organization and
everyone who is part of it is expected to constitute them. Professional ethics is also defined as what
professional choose to do when they face a problem at work that involves a moral issue. . These ethics
turn out to be the guiding principles for to make an individual well disciplined and highly successful
in his personal life which may include all of his family, friends, acquaintances, relatives etc. These are
the specific set of moral principles that help a certain individual or an organization to develop their
attitude and behavioural aspects that are most probably likeable by others.

The Prosecution Of Sexual Assault
The prosecution of sexual assault is unlike the prosecution of any other criminal offence. There an
intense focus on the character and motivation of the complainant. Traditionally, this focus has
translated into a preoccupation with aspects of the complainant s behavior which is not immediately
related to the circumstances of the offence. One example is whether the complainant provided a recent
complaint after the assault. This focus also results in an extraordinary interest in the demonstration of
proof of resistance by the complainant and the corresponding application of force by the perpetrator,
though neither is an element of the crime. A proper appreciation of the law in this area requires an
understanding of the legal evolution of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not mentioned in our conversations and that silence contributes to the continuation of domestic
and sexual violence. As early as the year 800, rape was a capital offense in Anglo Saxon England. In
1769, William Blackstone, the leading eighteenth century authority on common law in both England
and the colonies, defined common law rape as the carnal knowledge of a woman forcibly and against
her will (Samaha). The definition boiled down to four elements: Sexual intercourse by force or a threat
of severe bodily harm (actus reus). Intentional vaginal intercourse (mens rea). Intercourse between a
man and a woman who wasn t his wife (attendant circumstance). Intercourse without the woman s
consent (attendant circumstance). The common law required proof beyond a reasonable doubt of all
four elements. In the common law trials, rape victims were allowed to testify against accused rapists;
it was up to the jury to decide whether to believe them. But the victim s credibility depended on three
conditions, always difficult (and often impossible) to satisfy: Her chastity, whether she promptly
reported the rape, whether other witnesses corroborated the rape (womanslawproject.org). By the
1970s and 1980s was a time of major reform of sex offense laws. First, states changed rape
prosecution procedures that had been in effect since the 1600s. Many states abolished the
corroboration rule that required the

Starting with the simple structure of a brush, and a hand made paper, a calligrapher can create

Analysis Of Bell Hooks And The Shadow Of Race
In the article Learning in the Shadow of race in Class author bell hooks ties in the three argument
elements ethos, pathos, and logos to support her claim. She uses ethos, her educational and social class
background in order to show why her desires were often made to seem worthless or stupid, pathos, her
own personal story and logos by giving real world examples through her own experiences that also
relate to her audience s emotions. She questions the role of race and social class in the life of a nation,
claiming that an individual s family yearly income should not determine where they fit in society
when achieving a higher education.
bell hooks gains the power and credibility of her audience through knowledge of the topic at hand,
establishing peace with the reader, and demonstrating honesty. Ethos shows an audience that the writer
is credible, or expert in the subject of the agreement. bell hooks is widely known for being a writer,
feminist thinker, and her academic background. She establishes her credentials through her personal
struggles with understanding social class during adolescent. The reader gains respect for hooks as she
takes the audience back to a time where they may have desired something, but never attained. For
example she says, As a child, [she] often wanted things money could buy that [her] parents could not
afford and would not get (hooks, 138). bell hooks writes to not only help others find strength to hold

Malware Detection And Machine Learning
LITERATURE REVIEW
In this chapter, we do an extensive study of malware detection and machine learning. This includes
malware types, life cycle of a malware, malware analysis and detection, strategies for malware
detection as well as machine learning and its types. MALWARE
Malware has been given different names and definitions. The word Malware is used to describe any
form of malicious code also called malcode, malicious software or programs. One common definition
of malware is the definition by McGraw and Morrisett (2000), that defines a malware as any code
added, changed, or removed from a software system in order to intentionally cause harm or subvert
the intended function of the system. Vasudevan Yerraballi (2006) also describe malware as a generic
term that encompasses viruses, trojans, spywares and other intrusive code. According to
Christodorescu et al. (2005) any program that has a malevolent objective is a malware. Malware are
generally created to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the data/information in
a computer system or network. MALWARE TYPES
One way of ensuring that the process of analysing malware is as fast as possible is by making
informed hypotheses about the malware and its function. These hypotheses can then be tested. Since it
is evident that better hypotheses can be made upon knowing what the malware does, some of the
categories in which most malware fall into as explained by Sikorski Honig (2012) are

Child Negligence Informative Speech
I came here to talk about a very serious issue that is happening and probably will continue happening
throughout the years. I m here to talk about child abuse. . Child abuse is a serious issue that happens
everyday, all around the world. There are so many global issues happening and I decided to focus on
child abuse. As a child, thinking that the kid being abused right now could be me. 1 billion kids in
2014 were abused either sexually, physically or emotionally. Thinking that It could be me marrying a
guy I literally don t know just because they make me do it. That is why I chose child abuse. Child
abuse is a very open topic that s why I decided to tighten what I was going to focus on and so I
decided I was going to focus on child negligence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents with mental health disorders are more rare but mental health can be a serious issue, it depends
on what mental disorder. Single parenthood is a common reason child negligence happens. Parenthood
is hard and tuff, If you were to do it alone it gets twice as hard making the taking care if children a
hard tak to do making people give no interest on it.
Child negligence in PerĆŗ is very common, the factors that contribute to child negligence abounds in
Peru, specifically poverty, drugs and single parenthood. Out of ten, two persons in Peru live in
extreme poverty. 78% of women that give birth in public hospitals are single mothers. About 164,019
cases were found on child abuse in Peru. 55% was psychological abuse, 165 was child negligence and
13% for sexul harrasment (UNICEF Peru). In Peru, there are laws that involve child abuse, but not

Toilet Auger Research Paper
Managing toilet obstructs effectively makes it to the base of the rundown of things a great many
people need to do as opposed to getting a charge out of an unwinding end of the week or night, yet it
happens to various mortgage holders. Considerably more at times, you may have an obstructing toilet
that influences you to figure your youngsters may have lost a toy or stuffed the neighbor s feline in the
porcelain position of royalty. However, you don t need to call a handyman. Property holders might
need to take a stab at utilizing a toilet auger to dispose of a headstrong obstructs.
What is a Toilet Auger?
A toilet auger, or handyman s snake, may not look like much, but instead, it can enable you to
dispense with willful toilet stops up. A toilet auger is usually a little more than 3 feet long and includes
an unbending metal tube with a handle that you wrench toward one side and an internal center link
made of metal on the other. The link is pressure wrapped and reaches out from the metal tube like a
long, adaptable bore that is ideal for clearing toilet stops up. Some toilet augers have a plastic boot on
the end that shields the porcelain from harm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turn the wrench on the finish of the auger while holding the metal tubing in one hand to broaden the
link into your toilet s pipe. Handing the wrench over the other way will withdraw the auger.
Toilet stops up that are caused by semi strong items, for example, hair or a toy causes protection in the
auger as it seizes the question. If you feel this protection, recover the question by rewinding the link.
On the off chance that the stop up is made of amassed objects, for example, bathroom tissue, take a
stab at passing the loop of the auger forward and backward through the obstruct to break

Animal Cruelty Is A Crime
Animal cruelty is a crime that is more often than not dismissed and rarely brought to justice. You
along with the Austin County Grand Jury need to enforce the rights of animals faced with cases of
cruelty and slaughter and punish those who disrespect the creature s right to live. Earlier this year, a
woman named Kristen Lindsey participated in a despicable act of animal cruelty when she took the
life of an innocent cat yet faced no charges. Her inappropriate displays of her kill aroused a huge
controversy over the issues of hunting and the safety of our pets. On April 17th, 2015, Lindsey, a
woman living in the small east central Texas city of Brenham, posted a graphic photo on Facebook of
her latest kill. That kill was no deer or bird, but a cat. She shot the feline with a bow and arrow that
pierced right through the cat s head and it is assumed that the cat died instantly. Her motives became
clear when she went online to post about her achievement. She stated it was her first bow kill, lol. The
only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it s head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly
accepted. Lucky for her, she did win an award, and that is the award for the worst vet of the year. Her
post caused a lot of outrage, especially among animal rights activists. The news eventually reached her
job which, if you didn t get the memo earlier, is ironically at a veterinary clinic. She was quickly fired

Thucydides On The Peloponnesian War
The plague of Athens was an event in history that countless authors went on to write about.
Recounting the death and destruction of not only the people, but their civilization as well. Starting at
the beginning of 431 BCE, historian Thucydides wrote his take on it. In his work The History of the
Peloponnesian War Thucydides talks about the social and political consequences of the plague, a
personal account on the experiences he lived through. Anywhere during 99 55 BCE poet Lucretius had
his work On the Nature of the Universe end with an account of the Athenian plague. Lucretius s
account was nearly an exact translation of Thucydides description of the plague. But whereas

It ends with the destruction of a civilization as if it were part of a natural order. Lucretius s edition
removed any mention of location or the Peloponnesian War. No mention of where it began or the
possible causes of it, and gives his own thoughts on it. He thinks of it a natural occurrence in life. Now
I ll explain the nature of diseases... I have shown above that there are atoms of many things needful to
support our life, and, in contrast, many must fly around that bring disease and death . His thoughts on
the disease are an actuality of disease, contrasting Thucydides claims that this plague was was too
severe for human nature . Lucretius removing the setting, the unnecessary and the idea of cruelness,
tells a story purer and more personal. In between the symptoms Lucretius made sure to add the mental
state of the victims where all the power of mind and all the body began to faint, being on death s very
threshold. Constant companion of these intolerable woes was torment of anxiety, and laments were
mixed with groans as mind and body suffered . Bring the psychological condition of the victims
allows people to feel more deeply about what the situation when reading his account. Lucretius writes

Tom Buchanan Quotes For Gatsby s Death
It was the last days of summer. The atmosphere began to change, leaves falling, and the sky the
perfect crisp blue like a never ending ocean. Gatsby decided it was the perfect day to take a dip in the
pool, since he hadn t used it all summer. But, that dream was unfortunately brought to a fatal end. Do
you know what it s like to be shot? Do you know what it s like to drown in your own pool of blood?
Your body sinking to the bottom as the water engulfs you. Your lungs now only filled with blood, and
only thing you can do is lie in the abyss of your death. This is Gatsby s story as he was killed in his
own home. You may ask, Who would do such a thing, killing a innocent man? And, on top of that to
kill him in his beautiful home? Well I have the answer for you ladies and gentleman. The person guilty
of this monstrous crime is Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan is brute, imperious, and just like his wife
Daisy he is a careless man; crushing and destroying lives in his path. As well, Tom is a cheater; let s
not forget he s having an affair with another woman: Myrtle wilson. Above all Tom Buchanan is a
killer. Today I will be presenting several pieces of evidences that Tom is at fault for the death of Mr.
Jay Gatsby. On the day before Mr. Gatsby s death, Tom and Gatsby along with Nick, Daisy, and
Jordan headed out to the city. When it was time to decide which car to take Tom came up with the idea
that Gatsby and him should switch cars. Tom in the yellow car Duesenberg model J

Essay On Homework
A high schooler comes home from school. He gets out his homework and gets started. The mom of the
student said start your homework and then we will eat.The mom spends an hour at dinner, but the
student is not done with his homework. He is asking his dad all types of questions, but he is too busy
to help. That happens every day at this family home. When the boy got his test scores back later in the
year, they were so low. Students have busy lifestyles and stress at home. They need time away from
studies to appreciate what they learn. There are so many things that can help them prepare for life
outside of school and giving a lot of homework causes stress to the student and family. I wanted to
find a way to get schools to cut down on homework. Too many kids are doing badly on a test because
of the time constraints and stress to complete homework. So let s do something about it. When I was
researching, I asked myself How can I get schools to cut down on homework? After all the research
that I did, it was clear to me that we can help the kids in school to have less homework.
Statistics about too much homework are illuminating: too much homework can lead to being
counterproductive. After a school day, kids come home and do their homework that can cause stress to
a family that has other needs or issues, such as low income. Too much homework can have a negative
effect because they might be from a home that doesn t have everything they need. They might not

Reflection Paper On Reading Skills
From working with Joe for the past few weeks, I noticed there were a few different reading skills that
he could use some practice with. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his
fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his
reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that
he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another
reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a
word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were
minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came
across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he
knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This
observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him
in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding
strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we
met. Taberski mentions how working with words, and decoding strategy will help students move from
hesitancy to fluency (pg 87). Both Alexa and I thought that our learning partners could benefit from

Philip Kotler, who has died aged 86, dedicated most of his professional life to publishing books and
articles in marketing, his work introduced new concepts in the field of marketing such as

The Type Of Biomolecules Known As Enzymes
Part A: This experiment was based on the type of biomolecules known as enzymes. These molecules
found in all living things, and are crucial for the removal and decomposition of harmful chemicals, the
digestion of molecules in metabolism, and the synthesis of proteins, DNA, RNA, and many other
organic molecules. Several key features about enzymes (which are similar to catalysts found in
chemistry, only enzymes are organic molecules that are made of proteins or RNA) is their reusability;
an enzyme will never be consumed in a reaction, rather it orients the molecules that would ordinarily
perform the reaction correctly to minimize the energy needed and helps induce the reaction to take
place faster. Most enzymes can catalyze thousands to millions of the same reactions in a second; they
are very efficient at the role they perform, Also critical is the substrate, or the molecule that has to
undergo the reaction, which will fit into the active site of the enzyme (a very specific geometric
interaction) in order for the reaction to occur. Each enzyme is only designed to catalyze one type of
reaction between very few substrate molecules; this specialization is what makes the enzymes so
efficient. Of course, still being tied to a chemical reaction, the rate of the catalyzed reaction will speed
up or slow down depending on several factors; these include temperature, pH, salinity, solvent, and in
the case of this experiment, substrate concentration and enzyme concentration. The

Ethics And Morality In Dao s Death
Dao is about balance and harmony. It s about avoiding the extremes. There would have to have been
Daoist assassins, according to the rules set by the Dao, if there were no assassins, then the Dao would
be unbalanced. Since Dao is about balance and harmony, one cannot exist without the other. If there
are life givers, then there would have to be life takers. Daoism teaches that the universe is a balance of
opposites: male and female, light and dark, low and high. In each case, opposing forces should be in
harmony. However, the problem arises, who would give the commands to kill? Would it be random?
The Zhuangzi, expresses the idea of people being inherently karmically evil, [1] so it would be very
easy for a human to become corrupt, even the purest emperor. Based on this idea we would have to
believe that the people chosen to be assassinated couldn t be decided by a human. Then who, or would
it be more of a what; what would deciding factor? The question of morality and ethics comes into
play. Morality and ethics are philosophical words or names. Would an assassin be restricted by ethics
and morality? Or would they be exempt? The Daoist concerns of humanity that ethics and morality

the way of nature, letting nature and the assassin s spirit be in tune with the Dao. So then would it be

The Main Elements Of Society For Aristotle And Plato
Provence Barnouin 10/14/16
Prof. Hittinger
Contemporary Civilization: Idea Paper 1
Households (or families) are one of the key elements of society for both Aristotle and Plato. Family is
the first form in society of association between men as it answers man s natural needs, and instincts.
As Aristotle explains, the coupling which necessity gives rise [to] is that between those who are
unable to exist without one another, in other words man is a being that is, by nature, social and
political. Association is a natural phenomenon, which declines in interdependent forms such as the
family, the village, and finally the city. However, it would be an error to assume that each form is not
fundamentally different from one another. In Politics, Aristotle criticizes Plato s assumption that a city
must strive to be a unit, because beyond a certain point, city will be reduced to family and family to
individual. [Book II, 1261a] Indeed, if a city state were to strive towards unity it would resemble a
household, since he holds the household to be of higher degree in unity, but by assumption, a city state
is different that a household.
By uncovering and comparing the differences between the city and the household in Politics, Ethics
and The Republic, we will first explain Aristotle s criticism and Plato s potential response to his
student. This will lead us to understand the relationship between the city state and the household and
explain whether the family is a natural

Diabetes and Beta
Diabetes
Beta carotene is an organic compound categorized as a terpenoid (GutieĢrrez, Gonzalez, 2010).
Naturally, it is a predecessor of vitamin A, and found in several yellow fruits and vegetables. These
organic nutrients play a vital role in aiding vision, skin growth, and bone development. In addition to
these crucial roles, Beta carotene may be of significant help in regulating the blood sugar in diabetic
persons (GutieĢrrez, Gonzalez, 2010). Human bodies regulate blood sugar levels with the help of the
hormone called insulin. In the absence or inadequate supply of this hormone, an individual is said to
be diabetic. Diabetes may results in solemn conditions such as blindness, heart diseases, and stroke.

Beta carotene deficiency symptoms include nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, and loss of senses in

consumptions of Beta carotene may result in hypervitaminosis A. Under this condition, the main
symptom is skin discoloration among the affected individuals. Beta carotene toxicity cases are
rampant among smokers. Physicians advise active smokers to avoid these supplements as their intake
results in increase risk of lung cancer. Scientists have asserted that metabolites elements present in the
Beta carotene substances destroy retinoic acids that repress cancer growth in the lungs (GutieĢrrez,

vitamin A deficient individuals. Although available without prescription, Physicians advise individuals

Disadvantages Of Value Engineering
Value engineering is not just about reducing costs. The concept of value analysis came into being
during World War II at General Electrical crop. people were struggling to produce badly needed
products when faced with shortfalls of everything like, raw materials, skilled labor and all kinds. A
team of engineers, led by Larry Miles, was forced to find authoritative substitutes. While substitutes to
reduce costs, they found that in many cases, the product is also improved. Since then, the incident
became a party to a structured process. Value Engineering aims to ensure that the client gets full value

China s Stature As A Political As Well As Economic...
Synopsis:
China s stature as a political as well as economic hegemon continues to grow well into the second
decade of the 21st century. This has led many to believe that the Chinese Renminbi (which is
denominated in the Yuan, and hence, referred hereafter as such) may soon eclipse the United States
Dollar (USD) as the World Reserve Currency (WRC).
Such claims of a currency of a large economy eclipsing the USD as the WRC have been rife in the
past. In its heyday, Japan s Yen was thought to have the capacity to overthrow the USD s dominating
position in the 1970 s. After that, the German Mark was widely expected to do the same in the 1980 s.
And later, the Euro too was theorized to be the next WRC.
The major aim of this paper is to give economic and political arguments to show that the Yuan will
similarly not succeed to dethrone USD as the world s most dominant currency.
This essay is divided into several sections. The first section deals with defining what exactly the
author means by World Reserve Currency and Dominant Currency because without underlying this,
the issue becomes vague and ambiguous. The second section seeks to answer the factors affecting
currency compositions of reserves across the world and will briefly argue why the USD (and not the
Yuan or any other currency) continues to fit the bill as the perfect reserve currency. It is followed by
section three which asks why the tag of World Reserve Currency is so important and also answers why

software hacked, the hardware and software needed to perform a real time attack, and the
consequences with performing such an attack. This paper will first define any related terms, then
describe the information security systems seen in the WATCH_DOGS video game, then discuss the
various hardware and software involved in an attack in regards to the game and real life, and finally
conclude with whether or not the concepts in WATCH_DOGS are realistic and possible today.
Introduction In the information age of today, the information security is one of the more prevalent
issues that drive information security professionals and computer technicians to build smarter and
stronger software and hardware. In the virtual world of video games, where the effects of something as
devastating as a security breach have no real world repercussions, information security can still be a
serious topic.
One of a popular video game publisher s new titles that have been released recently has taken the
realistic fear of information security and made it into an interesting adventure, where the main
protagonist is every credit card owner s worst nightmare: a hacker. Granted, the game s scenario might
be too specific to say it could exist in the real world, but how plausible would it be for a hacker to
access a major metropolitan information security system if it was

Water
Water is a medium for metabolic reactions and an important constituent of cells. In most plants and
animals, it makes up about 65 95% of their mass. The water molecule is referred to as a dipole, a polar
molecule, with a positive (hydrogen) and negative (oxygen) charge, separated by a very small
distance. A molecule with a separated charge is polar. A hydrogen bond; the weak attractive force
between a hydrogen atom with a partial positive (o+) charge and an atom with a partial negative
charge (o ) oxygen can be formed between two atoms. Hydrogen bonds are weak, however in large
quantities, like the large number present in water it makes the molecules difficult to separate and gives
water a wide range of physical properties vital to life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jonah Vs. Jonah In The Book Of Nineveh
The people simply humbled themselves before God and He had mercy on them cancelling His
judgment. Jonah had wanted Nineveh to be destroyed by God and this would prolong the life of the
kingdom of Israel. But instead he was the main source of them hearing the message of repentance. He
had preferred to die instead of fulfilling his divinely appointed mission. Now he had no one to blame
for Nineveh s survival except himself and God s mercy. This made Jonah so angry that he was
inconsolable and wanted to die.
Jesus compared to Jonah
In the book of Luke 11:29 32 (also found in Matthew 12:38 45) Jesus Himself speaks about Jonah.
The Pharisees and the Scribes wanted a sign from Jesus.

Grace is God s unmerited favor; it is getting what you don t deserve. If you got what you deserve it
would be payment not unmerited favor.
Justice is getting what you deserve.
Mercy is not getting what you deserve.
And grace is getting what you absolutely don t deserve... (Falsani)
At the end of the book, the Bible records that Jonah was so angry that he asks God to let him die but
God does not do so. He then reminds God that he knew Gods character. That God was a gracious and
merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm and
this was his reason for running away to Tarshish. Jonah then decides to go out of the city and wait and
watch the outcome of Nineveh. While he was there God made a plant to grow up immediately and
give him shade, bringing Jonah much joy. But when morning came God appointed a worm to eat it ,
then a strong wind and sun to beat down on Jonah till he fainted. At this point, Jonah still feels that it
is better for him to die than live. Jonah expresses to God that he has more pity on the plant that died
that the Ninevities that did not

Jonathan Swift Essay
Jonathan Swift 1. Swift wrote A Modest Proposal under a pseudonym, so who is the speaker here? The
speaker is a Protestant and a member of the Irish upper class. 2. Discuss the tone of the piece. Pull
examples from the text to support your discussion. Swift showed disgust for the people who would
rather beg than take care of themselves. He says, These mothers instead of being able to work for their
honest livelihood, are forced to employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless
infants who, as they grow up, either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native country,
to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbados. 3. As you know, effective
argumentation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6. Why is A Modest Proposal an effective satire? What techniques does Swift use effectively? Support
your answers with examples from the text. It is an effective satire because it gets the point across very
clearly. His descriptions are extremely grotesque and he talks about a very feared subject, cannibalism.
This helps draw attention to the seriousness of the problem. Swift also provides statistics, which helps
further draw attention to the problem. Some techniques he uses are parody and exaggeration. He uses
exaggeration to get his point across and he uses parody to mock the situation. An example of his
effective use of satire is, I have already computed the charge of nursing a beggar s child (in which list
I reckon all cottagers, labourers, and four fifths of the farmers) to be about two shillings per annum,
rags included; and I believe no gentleman would repine to give ten shillings for the carcass of a good
fat child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat, when he hath only
some particular friend, or his own family to dine with him. Thus the squire will learn to be a good
landlord, and grow popular among his tenants, the mother will have eight shillings neat profit, and be
fit for work till she produces another child. 7. Swift enumerates six reasons his proposal will work.
Discuss how these paragraphs impact his purpose. Swift provides support for each reason he presents
in his essay.

Characteristics Of Leonardo Da Vinci s Influential Persona
Leonardo Da Vinci and his Influential Persona
During the end of the fourteenth century, new ideas gradually started to evolve in Italy. This massive
blow of ideas, culture and new attitudes, impacted the artwork that was in the making. Leonardo Da
Vinci was a key figure in creating new paintings and frescos in the Renaissance time period and many
of his pieces include the aspect of humanism. Although The Last Supper is clearly a depiction of Jesus
and Christianity, humanism is clearly prolific in Da Vinci s work. And Da Vinci incorporates key
aspects of both Roman and Greek society in his revolutionary masterpiece. The Last Supper , by

Architecture has made its way, incorporating itself in very complex parts of the fresco. The symmetry
is part of the architecture. If one looks at almost any Greek architectural piece, it is very symmetrical.
This adds to the clean, god like status of The Last Supper . Leonardo simplified the architecture,
eliminating unnecessary and distracting details so that the architecture can instead amplify the
spirituality. Architecture in Greek civilization is known to be clean cut, unique and very simple, just
like The Last Supper . In the fresco, Jesus is also sitting underneath a pediment that is arched. This
pediment almost traces a circle, this can be depicted as a halo. This interesting aspect goes to show
that each piece of architecture has a meaning behind it. Weather the artist knew, or

Blister Agent Research Paper
Blister Agents Blister agent is one of the most used and deadliest chemical weapon ever to be
documented in the last century. The scientific name for blister agent is Vesicants, from the Latin vesica
bladder, or blister. Blister agents or vesicants are chemicals which have severe irritating properties that
produce fluid filled pockets on the skin and damage to the eyes, lungs and other mucus membranes.
Symptoms of exposure may be immediate or delayed for several hours after exposure. Weather plays a
key part in how effective the use of blister agents can be when being deployed on an enemy. There are
three major types of blister agents that can be categorized as such: sulfur mustard, nitrogen mustard,
and Lewisite and halogenated oximes. Blister agents have some very particular traits verses other
chemical weapons that are out there. Sulfur mustard gas is clear to yellowish in color or a brown oily
liquid with a slight garlic or mustard smell. Lewisite contains arsenic and is a dark oily liquid with a
light smell of geraniums. Phosgene, which is one of the most common halogenated oximes, is a
colorless solid or liquid, with an intense irritating odor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Black Of Black And 70s Movies are more than a form of entrainment. They are pieces of art that express social and political problems within the culture. The Black male character and culture has not always been a predominant figure in films like they are today. The display of the African American culture in film has progressed through the years. It has progressed by the change of racism displayed on screen, the character roles, and the emergence black figures and society in motion pictures. (How racism is depicted in the films Black face we would see it again) With movies such as Guess Who s Coming to Dinner, Shaft, Do The Right Thing, and Madea s Family Reunion. People see the transformation of black cinema throughout the years. Films of the 60s, 70s, and 80s have significant differences from contemporary productions as the standards of culture shift in the decades. Before the audience can note the rise of black figures and standards in film. They must have recognition of the history of black cinema before its transition into the mainstream. Displays of black character roles and black culture from earlier films like Birth of a Nation (1915) and Gone with the Wild (1939) have a different representation on the view of black society and how racism was addressed in those times. In these earlier films blacks were not given main roles in cinema. Blacks Americans were typically given minimal roles and true to race roles such as servants, slaves, butlers and etc. African Americans did not have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of The Swallow Man Section 1, Passage 1 There was no question that the tall stranger was not a reassuring presence. There was a menace to him, a quiet intensity that was no way akin to the sort of quality that people cultivate in order to attract the affections of children. All the same though, there was something in him perhaps the part, that had spoken so easily to the swallow that fascinated her. (22) After her father is taken by soldiers, a family friend, Herr Fuchsmann, allows Anna to stay at his shop. When Doktor Fuchmann decides he can no longer care for Anna, he kicks her out. While sitting on the curb, Anna meets the Swallow Man. This passage is the first time Anna sees the Swallow Man. She is instantly drawn to him. This passage s description of the Swallow Man stood out to me. The author describes the character as both reassuring and mencing. This mix of opposite traits captures the Swallow Man perfectly throughout the book: he is a wonderful caretaker to Anna, but in certain circumstances, can become a completely different person. Section 2, Passage 2 Your name is just like your shoes, said the tall man. You have to be able to get rid of it to give it over to someone else. All right, said Anna. So, said the thin man. In my perspective and attitude, I think the introduction of gun control policy is a good idea whose time has come. • 6. Ethical Dilemmas Of The Health Care Of Dr. Vivian Essay All medical providers have a duty to protect the health and dignity of their patients. Even if that is the intention of the provider, specific ethical dilemmas in healthcare may arise making it difficult for the provider to make an ethically appropriate choice. Wit, directed by Mike Nichols, takes the viewer through the healthcare of Dr. Vivian Bearing, an English professor, as she embarks on an eight month experimental treatment to hopefully cure her stage IV ovarian cancer. As Dr. Bearing undergoes this treatment, ethical issues arise regarding her healthcare that compromises her well being and dignity. George D. Pozgar points out that ethics is concerned with values relating to human conduct that focuses on the rightness and wrongness of actions, as well as the goodness and badness of motives and ends.1 It is clear in the film that the actions taken by the medical providers, violated ethical principles within the scope of health care such as patient dignity and respect, patient autonomy, and consent to research/treatment. According to AAPA, a principal value of healthcare professions is to respect the health, safety, welfare, and dignity of all human beings.2 It is evident in the film that the team of Dr. Kelekian and Dr. Posner, who are in charge of Dr. Bearing s treatment, disregards these human rights, that healthcare providers swear to protect. • 8. `` Our Story `` By Susan Griffin In many places throughout the world there are rigid top down cultures and theories on education. These cultures have been seen in World War II Germany, in literature, and in education. It has been shown throughout history that these cultures can and will cause many problems to fester as a result. These issues include the manufacturing of sheep like masses that simply follow what they are told and taught, the culture losing its ability to distinguish between what is morally right and wrong, and the forced masking of emotions and true feelings. The only way to prevent a culture from simply manufacturing sheep like masses is by encouraging people to not be afraid to stand out in a crowd and allowing, and even embracing, free thinking. In Our Story by Susan Griffin there is a complex story involving Heinrich Himmler that she uses to explain exactly how rigid top down societies and an expectation to be normal can cause a culture to lose its ability to think critically on a subject. Her first example describes how Himmler grew up in German in the early 20th century, and how it affected his life and the course of history. In that time the culture of Germany was of strong patriarchal values and held an expectation of men to be a strong and masculine image. The problem with this expectation and Himmler is that Himmler did not fit this image. As a child he was labeled frail and vulnerable, which was not acceptable in German culture at this time. The definition boiled down to four elements: Sexual intercourse by force or a threat of severe bodily harm (actus reus). Intentional vaginal intercourse (mens rea). This includes malware types, life cycle of a malware, malware analysis and detection, strategies for malware detection as well as machine learning and its types. MALWARE Malware has been given different names and definitions. The word Malware is used to describe any form of malicious code also called malcode, malicious software or programs. One common definition of malware is the definition by McGraw and Morrisett (2000), that defines a malware as any code added, changed, or removed from a software system in order to intentionally cause harm or subvert the intended function of the system. Vasudevan Yerraballi (2006) also describe malware as a generic term that encompasses viruses, trojans, spywares and other intrusive code. According to Christodorescu et al. (2005) any program that has a malevolent objective is a malware. Malware are generally created to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the data/information in a computer system or network. On April 17th, 2015, Lindsey, a woman living in the small east central Texas city of Brenham, posted a graphic photo on Facebook of her latest kill. That kill was no deer or bird, but a cat. She shot the feline with a bow and arrow that pierced right through the cat s head and it is assumed that the cat died instantly. Her motives became clear when she went online to post about her achievement. She stated it was her first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it s head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted. Lucky for her, she did win an award, and that is the award for the worst vet of the year. Gatsby decided it was the perfect day to take a dip in the pool, since he hadn t used it all summer. But, that dream was unfortunately brought to a fatal end. Do you know what it s like to be shot? Do you know what it s like to drown in your own pool of blood? Your body sinking to the bottom as the water engulfs you. Your lungs now only filled with blood, and only thing you can do is lie in the abyss of your death. This is Gatsby s story as he was killed in his own home. You may ask, Who would do such a thing, killing a innocent man? And, on top of that to kill him in his beautiful home? Well I have the answer for you ladies and gentleman. The person guilty of this monstrous crime is Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan is brute, imperious, and just like his wife Daisy he is a careless man; crushing and destroying lives in his path. As well, Tom is a cheater; let s not forget he s having an affair with another woman: Myrtle wilson. Above all Tom Buchanan is a killer. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we met. • 35. The Type Of Biomolecules Known As Enzymes Part A: This experiment was based on the type of biomolecules known as enzymes. These molecules found in all living things, and are crucial for the removal and decomposition of harmful chemicals, the digestion of molecules in metabolism, and the synthesis of proteins, DNA, RNA, and many other organic molecules. Several key features about enzymes (which are similar to catalysts found in chemistry, only enzymes are organic molecules that are made of proteins or RNA) is their reusability; an enzyme will never be consumed in a reaction, rather it orients the molecules that would ordinarily perform the reaction correctly to minimize the energy needed and helps induce the reaction to take place faster. Most enzymes can catalyze thousands to millions of the same reactions in a second; they are very efficient at the role they perform, Also critical is the substrate, or the molecule that has to undergo the reaction, which will fit into the active site of the enzyme (a very specific geometric interaction) in order for the reaction to occur. Each enzyme is only designed to catalyze one type of reaction between very few substrate molecules; this specialization is what makes the enzymes so efficient. Of course, still being tied to a chemical reaction, the rate of the catalyzed reaction will speed up or slow down depending on several factors; these include temperature, pH, salinity, solvent, and in the case of this experiment, substrate concentration and enzyme concentration. There would have to have been Daoist assassins, according to the rules set by the Dao, if there were no assassins, then the Dao would be unbalanced. Since Dao is about balance and harmony, one cannot exist without the other. If there are life givers, then there would have to be life takers. Daoism teaches that the universe is a balance of opposites: male and female, light and dark, low and high. In each case, opposing forces should be in harmony. However, the problem arises, who would give the commands to kill? Would it be random? The Zhuangzi, expresses the idea of people being inherently karmically evil, [1] so it would be very easy for a human to become corrupt, even the purest emperor. Based on this idea we would have to believe that the people chosen to be assassinated couldn t be decided by a human. Then who, or would it be more of a what; what would deciding factor? • 37. The Main Elements Of Society For Aristotle And Plato Provence Barnouin 10/14/16 Prof. Hittinger Contemporary Civilization: Idea Paper 1 Households (or families) are one of the key elements of society for both Aristotle and Plato. Family is the first form in society of association between men as it answers man s natural needs, and instincts. As Aristotle explains, the coupling which necessity gives rise [to] is that between those who are unable to exist without one another, in other words man is a being that is, by nature, social and political. Association is a natural phenomenon, which declines in interdependent forms such as the family, the village, and finally the city. However, it would be an error to assume that each form is not fundamentally different from one another. In Politics, Aristotle criticizes Plato s assumption that a city must strive to be a unit, because beyond a certain point, city will be reduced to family and family to individual. [Book II, 1261a] Indeed, if a city state were to strive towards unity it would resemble a household, since he holds the household to be of higher degree in unity, but by assumption, a city state is different that a household. By uncovering and comparing the differences between the city and the household in Politics, Ethics and The Republic, we will first explain Aristotle s criticism and Plato s potential response to his student. This will lead us to understand the relationship between the city state and the household and explain whether the family is a natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This has led many to believe that the Chinese Renminbi (which is denominated in the Yuan, and hence, referred hereafter as such) may soon eclipse the United States Dollar (USD) as the World Reserve Currency (WRC). Such claims of a currency of a large economy eclipsing the USD as the WRC have been rife in the past. In its heyday, Japan s Yen was thought to have the capacity to overthrow the USD s dominating position in the 1970 s. After that, the German Mark was widely expected to do the same in the 1980 s. And later, the Euro too was theorized to be the next WRC. The major aim of this paper is to give economic and political arguments to show that the Yuan will similarly not succeed to dethrone USD as the world s most dominant currency. This essay is divided into several sections. The first section deals with defining what exactly the author means by World Reserve Currency and Dominant Currency because without underlying this, the issue becomes vague and ambiguous. The second section seeks to answer the factors affecting currency compositions of reserves across the world and will briefly argue why the USD (and not the Yuan or any other currency) continues to fit the bill as the perfect reserve currency. Support your answers with examples from the text. It is an effective satire because it gets the point across very clearly. His descriptions are extremely grotesque and he talks about a very feared subject, cannibalism. This helps draw attention to the seriousness of the problem. Swift also provides statistics, which helps further draw attention to the problem. Some techniques he uses are parody and exaggeration. He uses exaggeration to get his point across and he uses parody to mock the situation. An example of his effective use of satire is, I have already computed the charge of nursing a beggar s child (in which list I reckon all cottagers, labourers, and four fifths of the farmers) to be about two shillings per annum, rags included; and I believe no gentleman would repine to give ten shillings for the carcass of a good fat child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat, when he hath only some particular friend, or his own family to dine with him. Thus the squire will learn to be a good landlord, and grow popular among his tenants, the mother will have eight shillings neat profit, and be fit for work till she produces another child. 7. Swift enumerates six reasons his proposal will work. Discuss how these paragraphs impact his purpose. Swift provides support for each reason he presents in his essay. ...
