Authentic Dissent And The Devil s Advocate
The results of the study which compared authentic dissent and the devil s advocate found that the
devil s advocate did not reach the level of the original thoughts stimulated by the authentic dissenter
but in turn did stimulate a greater amount of thoughts that supported the initial viewpoint (Nemeth
et al., 2001). The study also revealed with the use of the three way ANOVA a significant variance
between minority authority and consistent devil s advocate. Planned contrast revealed that the
consistent devil s advocate was disliked more than the control (Nemeth et al., 2001). While the
authentic minority was only slightly disliked more than the control, these two methods did not
considerably fluctuate on likability (Nemeth et al., 2001). The use of the three level ANOVA did
have a noticeable change to the number of solutions found. It revealed that when using a planned
contrast model the authentic minority condition generated the most solutions to the results in the
study. With higher solutions than both consistent devil s advocate condition and the control, these
two did not fluctuate by much. Regarding the mood of the groups which these processes were used
seemed to be very similar. There were few differences between authentic minority and devil s
advocate with regard to anger and excitement (Nemeth et al., 2001). Concerning the observations of
the groups process, a third principle revealed three factors, harmony, stimulation, and group conflict

Animal Vs Asian Elephants
Asian elephants are a big mammal but let me tell you more about them and what makes them
different from the other elephants. Asian elephants live in Nepal, India and Southeast Asia scrub
forests and rainforests. Asian elephants have been around for over 55 million years elephants are
very successful animals they found many different fossils and they have said over 300 species
have walked the earth over a long period. Elephants eat roots, grasses, fruit, and bark. An adult
elephantcan consume up to 300 pounds of food in a single day. Elephants form deep family
bonds and live in tight matriarchal family groups of related females called a herd. When a calf is
born, it is raised and protected by the whole matriarchal herd. Female elephants live in a herd.
Male elephants have very different social needs, males are driven out of the family group as they
approach sexual maturity, males spend as much as 95% of their lives alone. When it comes to
babies getting attacked by predators, the whole herd pitches in.
After five years of rearing the young elephants, the mother gives birth to a new infant weaning the
now adolescent calf at the same time. The subspecies of the elephants are African and Asian. In
Africa there is two different species the African bush elephant, and the African forest elephant. In
Asia they just have the Asian elephant. In the early times of 2000 b.c. elephants because of the size
they were they helped building. Many experts believe that the mammoth which is

Fitbit Mission Statement
Fitness and health is something that is looked upon as being hard to achieve and do sometimes.
Fitbit is one of many companies that are trying to take of the challenge of how to make fitness
and tracking it easy and fun to do. Introduction Fitbit started when two men, Eric and James, came
to realize that wireless technology was starting to take off. They wanted to find a way to combine
wireless technology and fitness together and after a few months in 2007 Fitbit was founded. Eric
and James were able to create a wearable technology that could track people s fitness activities with
minimal effort from the user. Currently, Fitbit s mission statement is To empower and inspire you

For example, the Fitbit Flex, one of the original Fitbit wearables that was on the market, now
customers can only get the Flex 2, but when it was on the market it cost $99.95 when bought
from the Fitbit store. It only cost the company $17.36 to make, so clearly Fitbit was making a
profit (Teardown, 2003). The influences that society brings can be a good thing to a company as
well as a bad thing. For Fitbit the change customers are making from wanting a fitness tracker to

for Fitbit going into the smartwatch area could be dangerous for Fitbit because how is it going to
compete with Apple and come out relatively ok. The advantage that Fitbit has is that its smartwatch
can work on either Android or Apple phones, so it is not limited like the Apple watch. Currently,
Fitbit is in a stage of growth, but that does seem to be stagnating a bit. According to Fitbit s
preliminary fourth quarter results from 2016 they reported that they expect to have revenue

Compromises Of 1850
The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The
Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The
North and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could
not stand what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely
divided and undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to
struggle. Thus, during the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any
compromise that could fix the problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South
could not agree on anything and were in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created...

This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing
them food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it
seemed humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all
knew it was wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost
impossible to be agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct
or wrong. Another issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s
Ferry was when John Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves
would help, but he was wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North
condemned the violence but the South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof
the North s true intentions, to use slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would
not be any more compromise to go over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening
and wouldn t take anything for an answer. The countries people were fighting and there was
nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians were in an uproar on what should be done and could
not come to a solution for anything. The government had become divided into two over the
problems that were being started in the country. One of the first incidents was the

My Senior Year Of College
This is it, the day I have been waiting for, move in day of my senior year of college. After this
year I will finally be graduating and get to move on to my career in the real world. I just have to
get through this last year of college and one last year of living in a dorm. As a senior, I could
have easily chosen to live off campus or in campus apartments, but a dorm was the choice that
made the most sense for my busy schedule. Living in a dorm is not so bad though, and I am
excited to decorate it and make it my own one last time. The dorm building I am living in is the
building for the upperclassman and is very taken care of and upgraded compared to the
underclassman dorm. Each room has sturdy wooden bed frames that make it comfortable... Show

In the end, the conclusion is that there is nothing they can do because all the rooms have been filled
for the year so I have to just deal with the room I have been given. Thoroughly defeated, I drive
to Lohman so I can start moving my stuff into my new room. I get my key with ease at the front
desk and it starts to hit me that this is not all a dream and I really am going to be living in
Lohman for the year. I try to remain positive as I walk to my room on the second floor. I
remember Lohman having big rooms and just as much closet space as Schaaf, so maybe it will
not be as bad as I think. I have hopes that it is not as bad as I remember it to be from my
freshman year, but as I reach my room I am sadly mistaken. When I open the door to my new
room it is worse than I could have imagined. The room has dust coated floors and spider webs
hanging from the ceiling. It looks like the room has not been touched in years. I make my way
over to the bed and notice it is an old fashioned metal framed bed that has rusted to the point that
it has holes throughout it. The closets are as big as I remembered but the doors are missing to
the closets and the mirror is shattered. Trying to stay positive, I go to look at the beaten up desk
along the wall. It is missing its drawers and one leg, so it is leaning greatly to one side. I look
toward the windows and realize there is no AC unit installed in the window and flash backs of
sleepless, sweaty nights fill my head as I recall my

How Does William Shakespeare Use Metaphors
William Shakespeare s usage of symbols and metaphors throughout his literature opens an eye to
the reader. In William Shakespeare s, Hamlet metaphors are used and spoken by Hamlet. Hamlet
uses these metaphors to show his emotions of anger and to depict false identity. Hamlet himself
speaks, Nor customary suits of solemn black, Nor windy suspiration of forced breath, No, nor the
fruitful river in the eye, Nor the dejected havior of the visage (1.2.79 89). This passage appears
when Hamletresponds to his mother at the wedding when she asks him why he is still upset about
his father when everyone has come to face the fact that his father King Hamlet is dead. No or Nor

LP1 Seminar Assessment
The LP1 Seminar Assessment emphasizes the importance of writing a proper APA style paper.
One of the most important criteria for writing a good APA paper consist of organized ideas with
proper research strategy, this is done by collecting data from other people or author to support
main ideas. By utilizing proper references and sources, a writer would be able to support their
main ideas or arguments, and are more convincing and reliable to those who are reading it.
Furthermore, the list of citations would enable readers to conduct further study of the writer s
supporting argument or facts. Additionally, the citations and references also protect the writers

Mary Jenkinson Research Paper
When James I was king, the sport of bear bating became popular. Bears, dogs, lions, and other
animals were forced to fight each other to the death for entertainment. He even had a special
platform built so the court could witness these royal games. There was disappointment when the
battles weren t bloody even more so when the animals simply refused to fight. Between the rough
treatment of the animals and the poor living conditions they faced, it was only a matter of time
before someone lost their life. In 1686, a woman named Mary Jenkinson got too close to a lion.
As she was petting its paw, the animal caught her arm in its mouth and tore it apart. Doctors
amputated the mangled arm but Mary died shortly after the attack. Mary s case wasn t the first
time a visitor would be injured or killed, and it certainly wasn t the last. And yes, there were

since the cover is not exhilarating. The people I do open up to, I consider precious and dear to
my heart. These individuals witness Comedy Me, who is outgoing and loves to make others

There was a time when the most aggressive self view was who I identified as. Looking back at

time, I was not only responsible for myself, but also my loved ones who were struggling. This me
was not the most pleasant me, however it kept my loved ones and me together.

rough periods my family experienced, I did not feel worthy of love. I felt lost and confused due to

Theme Of Names In Song Of Solomon
Jack Noble
Mr. Fusco
10/13/17
Song of Solomon Names Names are apart of all cultures and have major significance to the
recipients of the name and further to the society as a whole. People are identified by the name
provided to them at birth. This such name can be derived from a variety of different origins,
depending heavily upon what ethnicity, or culture the child is born into. A parent provides their
child with a name that they believe has some kind of significance, or a deeper symbolic meaning to
their family. Throughout one s life, they might acquire a number of nicknames. Nicknames can
reflect how others perceive a certain person, or even how that person views himself, inferring either
a positive or negative connotation. In Songs of Solomon, many characters have names that provide
a deeper insight on their true identity in the novel. Whether the character is trying to escape the
reality of their name or not, the name itself still establishes truth behind theirs actions and who they
came from. Names in Song of Solomon ultimately establish a character s behavioral traits and
cultural background, advancing the direction of the novel.
In the novel, many of the characters are provided with names of either biblical or mythological
descent. These such names provide insight as to the identity of the character in the novel and
further the purpose of the character in the progression of the plot. Many of the children s names
were chosen at birth by sticking a pin into the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Schizophrenia Essay
Diagnosing psychological disorders has become more prevalent in our society because more
people are willing to seek help regardless of the stigma that comes with having a label. This paper
will go in depth on the psychotic disorder called Schizophrenia. Like the majority of
psychological disorders, we will discuss how a patient is determined to have a mental disorder
based on the three criteria based on distress, impairment, and risk of harm. The neuropsychosocial
factors that play a crucial role in the development of schizophreniawill be addressed. The causes of
schizophrenia include frontal lobe defect, overproduction of dopamine, and genetics which due to
a certain degree of stress a person experiences can trigger any of the neuropsychosocial factors
making them vulnerable to developing the disorder. We will also look at the kind of symptoms a
schizophrenic patient possesses and the therapeutic or medical treatments that they receive in order
to achieve a relief of these symptoms. This research paper is meant to provide possible directions
for future research on the causes of schizophrenia which is still not entirely known and what
treatment would be more effective than medication to provide relief of symptoms since the disorder
is incurable.

Comparing Nicolo Machiavelli s The Prince
While the human race is incredibly diverse and expansive, many writers and philosophers work to
find common characteristics that they can attribute to what is typically referred to as human nature.
Nicolo Machiavelli provides his beliefs on human nature in his text, The Prince. While this work
mostly surrounds the proper way to lead a princedom, there are many parts of the text that show
how humannature affects the way a prince should rule his people. The examples of princes having
to work around humanity provided over the course of Machiavelli s work ultimately reflect what he
considers to be flaws within human beings everywhere. An extensive examination of the devices
and techniques used within Nicolo Machiavelli s The Princeshows how he believes human beings
are self interested beings that can only be ruled through deception and force. The continuation of
life and avoidance of death are two of the most essential goals for any and all living species.
Machiavelli is correct in pointing out that, despite their complexity, human beings are still subject
to these laws. Even a figure as authoritative as the prince still has to consider his mortality and
find ways to preserve his life. Machiavelli examines the ways a prince can defend himself when
he says, men are either to be treated kindly, or utterly crushed, since they can revenge lighter
injuries, but not graver, (Machiavelli 4). The diction used in this passage illustrates a sharp contrast
in the ways a prince can

Samuel Colton Invented The First Rotating Barrel Revolver
Samuel Colton invented the first rotating barrel revolver, later called Peacemaker, in 1835. He
then started mass producing it and supplying it to the armed forces as well as the common people,
who benefited greatly from its reliability, portability and quick firing rate. This gun was the one
used by the legendary cowboys and was the one with which they gained enormous amounts of
glory. Ever since then, the Peacemaker has shaped American history in numerous ways and came to
embody all the values like individualism, freedom and power that America stood for. The Colt
revolvers, later called the Peacemakers, that were invented in the 19th century shaped American
history not only by giving the U.S. armed forces and the Union army the upper hand and the power
to subdue their enemies in monumental battles, but also by instilling in the people a strong sense of
individualism and the mentality of the manifest destiny. To begin with, before the 1830s, the only
guns that were available to the public and the militarywere the muskets and rifles, and primitive
pistols. The muskets and rifles were very large in size, took a long amount of time to reload and
were difficult to aim. Even though they might have been effective when used in large numbers at
the frontline of the battlefields due to the heavy concentration of bullets they produced and since
great accuracy was not required, they were not as practical or useful to the general public as their
slow reload time and difficulty to

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Communication System
Bureaucracy, Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Working Practices necessary to ensure
consistency can stifle staff engagement and affect performance, limits formal procedures and
processes. Furthermore, standard letters issued to stakeholders, which offer no facility for
amendment or personalisation, can disassociate and weaken customerrelationships.
Network channels of communication, their benefits and implications are not considered. Teams
are created purely by location, in order to meet the organisations future vision for 2020. However,
different tasks benefit from different communication networks. For example some roles within
TSL require isolation or home working and would be categorised as a wheel network whilst others
are based upon a processing system following a Y network structure, see figure 1.5 above. No
consideration has been made to the management of virtual teams where effective communication
needs to be encouraged and managed. This is vitally important, especially if the group has not been
through the five key stages of group development described in the model by Bruce W. Tuckman,
which follows a group from formation and conflict in establishing boundaries, to performing and
finally adjournment when the group disbands.
The key strength of the organisations communication system is YETI and OneFile: TSL s
programme to improve business operations. Since its implementation, it has streamlined business

Constructivism And Realism Paradigm Analysis
The three main paradigms of international relations are liberalism, realism, and constructivism. In
regards to a zombie outbreak, each paradigm will predict a different outcome for survival and
cooperation. A liberal would argue that zombies represent a classic problem of dying and then
coming to life in an undead state and trying to make others to do so as well. Undoubtedly, the
zombiedispute would cross borderlines and affect all states, so the benefits from policy
coordination would be massive. A realist would argue that international politics would not be
remarkably affected, at its main, with the introduction of zombies into the mix of politics.
Constructivism argues society is what we perceive it to be, so zombies are what we make of... Show

More humans will come to one with the zombie way of undead life, as it were, the remaining
humans would feel social pressure to conform and eventually adopt the norms and practices of
zombies kind of like towards the end of Shaun of the Dead. In the end, even humans would adopt
zombie constructed perceptions of right and wrong, and when it s appropriate to grunt in a
menacing manner. Constructivism emphasizes the significance of beliefs, values, norms, and
identities in constructing social reality and ultimately shaping a state s behavior. As one scholar
compressed the constructivist paradigm, anarchy is what states make of it (Wendt 391).
Transnational norms, relationships, and identities are shaped over time as states interact with one
another; these identities and norms, in turn, mutually construct state behavior. As opposed to
realists, who argue that anarchy unavoidably leads to competition for power and conflict,
constructivists maintain that the lack of central authority in worldwide politics has no inherent
qualities that enact upon states a specific pattern of behavior. Therefore, constructivism opens
the door to a wide variety of policy responses to a particular challenge. Applying the constructivist
perspective to the п¬Ѓctional zombie apocalypse scenario, Drezner contends that the existential
peril posed by zombies could be the exogenous shock needed to break down

The Real Cool Killer Essay
The Real Cool Killers is about finding out the killer of a white guy who was in a bar in Harlem,
New York; an all black neighborhood. Two detectives were assigned to this case because of how

they were known for being violent with suspects. The two of the detectives were aggressive
people but Grave Digger was more level headed than Coffin Ed ever since he had gotten acid

How Absinthe Is A Alcoholic Distilled Spirit
Absinthe is a highly alcoholic distilled spirit, reputed to have psychotropic qualities. In the
history of liquors it holds a special place for being one of the most controversial drinks of French
history. Yet it wasn t always that way, for a period in the late 1800 s absinthe was one of the
most popular liquors in the western world. Some companies at the height of its popularity
produced over 30,000 liters of it a day. American Chemist T. A. Breaux has spent years
researching the drink; through his research he has found that the drink originated as a medicine
developed as a digestive aide in the late 1700 s (pg.2 3). The drink then rose in popularity after
the 1840 s when the French government would dispense rations of the drink to its soldiers
fighting in foreign campaigns as a means of purifying unclean water. These soldiers developed a
taste for the drink claiming it to be the drink of a true man, due to its strong bitter taste (pg. 4 5).
By the late 1870 s it became the most coveted drink, especially among artist and intellectuals who
would feature the iconic drink in their works. Such as Edgar Degas famous Painting L Absinthe
or The Absinthe Drinker, painted in 1876 the painting depicts two figures of a woman and a man

Ethiopia Research Paper
Many spots on the globe lay claim to being the origin of human civilization, my paper will argue the
Ethiopia deserves such a title. Although I am Ethiopian decent, I will support the claim through
historic evidence and many written studies proves that Ethiopia is the origin of humankind and
civilization. Ethiopia is a country in northeastern Africa. It is the only African country to
successfully resist European colonization, and was one of the first in the world to adopt
Christianity as the religion of the state. Ethiopia is the one landlocked country in the world with the
most inhabitants, and is also the home of archeological sites. The name Ethiopia has its own

Ethiopia1 was also once historically known as Abyssinia, and it comes from an Arabic word
meaning mixed a reference to the country s many ethnic groups diversified tribe. Another name
for Abyssinia is Habesh, an early Arabic form of Ethiosemitic name Habasat. Habesha is another

As a perfect demonstration of the classical clichГ© failure is success s mother , the 1999 movie
October Sky illustrates the rough path of a group of boys chasing their dream. As the Hickam was
settled on his dream of being a rocket scientist, he inspired his friends Roy Lee Cooke and Sherman
O Dell, and the math geek Quentin Wilson, to work with him on innovating their own rocket.
During the process, Hickam and his friends overcome many derider and difficulties until their
launch of the rocket model was finally successful. As soon as they successes, the mine disaster
happened. Hickam s father was injured. Thus, Hickam had to give up his school and dream to work
at the mine. Fortunately, when his father recovers, he was able to return to school.

The Importance of Government Infrastructural Investment...
How Important is Government Infrastructural Investment for Nuclear Power Generation?
Introduction
In an era when many industry analysts project peak oil will be reached by mid century or sooner,
identifying opportunities to promote alternative energy sources assumes new importance and
relevance. This paper provides a review of the relevant literature to determine the importance of
government infrastructural investment for nuclear power generation. The research will show that
these investments are widely regarded as essential because of the high costs of nuclear development
and power generation. A discussion concerning the form government involvement assumes in the
form of policy statements regarded nuclear power is followed by an assessment concerning whether
detailed regulation should be used for the approval of nuclear plant designs, operating practices,
nuclear fuel supply arrangements, sponsoring nuclear research development, and ownership control
of enrichment reprocessing facilities. Finally, an evaluation of what economic influences
concerning nuclear development views versus fossil fuel power generation is followed by a
summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Analysis Although governmental infrastructural investment in nuclear power
generation facilities has been traditionally considered vital, there are other types of governmental
investments in the industry, including policy statements. Governmental policymakers in the

Type III Secretion System
1.Strains of Escherichia coli and Citrobacter rodentium contain set of operons called the locus
enterocyte effacement (LEE) region in their genomes. This region encodes a type III secretion
system (T3SS).
a.What are two mechanisms by which these organisms have acquired this region (2pts)? Which
seems most likely (3pts)?
One mechanism by which E. coli. and C. rodentium could have acquired the locus enterocyte
effacement region (LEE) in their genomes is via mutation. Because the T3SS is related to
bacterial flagellum, it could be possible that the LEE sequence originally coded for flagellar
components before some sort of mutation caused it to begin coding for a T3SS instead. Because
the T3SS would increase the fitness of the bacterium, bacteria

Relation Between Sarcopenia And Functional Disabilities...
Relation between sarcopenia and functional disabilities and increase risk of falls
Several cross sectional, observational studies have related sarcopenia to decline of functional status,
such as mobility performance, self reported functional limitations, and disability, it is well
established that the aging process itself is associated with numerous changes in the human body.
One of the most significant age related anatomical changes is that which happens to the skeletal
muscle mass (Visser and Schaap, 2011).
Sarcopenia is used to indicate progressive reduction in muscle mass, muscle strength and function
that affect older people (Pathy et al., 2006).
Sarcopenia results in unfavorable and detrimental effects on an older person s physical function.
Muscle mass decrease is probably the single most frequent cause of late life disability among older
people. It is directly responsible for functional impairment with loss of strength, and increased
likelihood of falls and fractures, as muscles account for 60% of the body protein stores, the
reduction in lean body mass has other health effects independent of its functional consequences
(Rolland et al., 2008).
A number of physiological functions that take place within the muscle tissues have an essential role
in human metabolism. For example, muscles are important body protein reserves and energy that
can be used in extreme conditions such as stress or malnutrition; amino acids can be mobilized
during acute infections and are

World War 1 And Its Effect On Russia s Disorganization
The First world was a key factor for the uprise of the February revolution, it reflected on Russia s
disorganisation. The poorly led army was scarcely equipped; at least one third of solders had no
rifles. Food, and clothing supplies were limited, but organisation of food in the cities was
considerably worse. The food for the solders were prioritised over the people in the cities but World
War 1 only added to the stress, food production and delivery was halted due to Russias lack of
modernised infrastructure and functional transport at a time of such an outrageous demand. The
tsar s demand for men removed skilled workers from farms, railways and other important industries
that were much needed at the time, ultimately aggravating poor harvest

The Style, Point of View, Form and Structure of Native...
Richard Wright, in his novel, Native Son, favors short, simple,
blunt sentences that help maintain the quick narrative pace of the
novel, at least in the first two books. For example, consider the
following passage: He licked his lips; he was thirsty. He looked
at his watch; it was ten past eight. He would go to the kitchen
and get a drink of water and then drive the car out of the garage.
Wright s imagery is often brutal and elemental, as in his frequently
repeated references to fire and snow and Mary s bloody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Wright goes
beyond merely presenting social data. At times Native Son seems more
like a nightmare than like social science. Note that Wright was also
attracted to the horror and detective stories of Edgar Allan Poe.
One of Wright s stated goals was to make readers feel the heat
of the Daltons furnace and the cold of a Chicago winter. But he
also makes the cold and heat symbols of the external forces aligned
against Bigger and of the powerful emotions raging within him. Other
patterns of imagery that appear throughout the novel include beasts

newspapers as a gorilla); suffocation (the fire being choked out by

Saussure s And Diachronic Perspectives
SAUSSURE S
SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVES
ASSIGNMENT BY: MANASWITA CHAKRABORTY DEPT. OF LINGUISTICS MA 1st
SEMESTER ROLL NO: 34
INTRODUCTION
One of the major consequences of the arbitrary nature of sign, is the distinction made between the
synchronic and diachronic study of language by the Swiss linguist and semiotician Ferdinand De
Saussure. Regarding the debate surrounding the perspective, it has been suggested by Saussure s
critics that in trying to distinguish between these two, and in granting priority on the synchronic
nature of study over the diachronic one, he was to a great extent ignoring the historical entity of
language. Inspite of the distinction made by Saussure, he believed that both kind of facts are
intertwined. Hence it raised a paradoxical situation.
SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC STUDY OF LANGUAGES
Synchronic study of language refers to the study of the linguistic system in a particular state
without taking the time period through which it has evolved into consideration. Here the languages
are treated as self contained systems of communication at any specific time without taking it s
history into account.
In contrast to the synchronic study of languages, is the diachronic study which studies the evolution
of a linguistic system over a period of time and are treated

you should have seen me. You should have seen how wisely I proceeded with what caution with
what foresight, with what dissimulation, I went to work! This evidence clearly presents that
Edgar is sane, because he is evidently knowledgeable of his surrounding areas. He is also much
aware of the caution that he took. To prohibit caution requires sane. What you mistake for madness

Adversity In Titus Andronicus
In both Titus Andronicus and Richard II the protagonist must face adversity and prove to their
respective enemies that they have not been defeated. Titus is put in a position where he made a
deal that was broken and Richard has been robbed of his title as king from Bolingbroke. Both
characters use their metaphors when speaking to prove to everyone that they are still powerful
when their pride has been stolen from them.
In Act III Scene I, Titus Andronicuscuts off his hand because he made a deal to exchange his
hand for his sons Quintus and Martius who were framed for the murder of Bassianus (III. 1. 266
287). Aaron in a later scene states, I trained thy brethren to that guileful hole where the dead
corpse of Bassianus lay, (V. 1. 106 107). A messenger then enters with the heads of Quintus and
Martius because the deal was abandoned. This causes Titus to make a speech about how this
action will make him stronger and not break him. Titus begins by describing his tears after he
receives the heads of his sons. He says I have not another tear to shed, (III. 1. 266) and that he
hopes his eyes will make his enemies blind with tributary tears, (III. 1. 269). Tears typically
represent defeat and self pity so Titus refuses to cry. He has lost many sons and Lavinia is
physically broken so his family has experienced a large amount of pain. The tears that Titus speaks
of will blind his enemies as a tribute. This tribute is to all of Titus s children that have suffered and

Comparison Of Betrayal In Fahrenheit 451
In class, we read this book called Fahrenheit 451. In this book, there is a character named Guy
Montag. He is a fireman, but, in this universe, they burn down houses instead of saving them from
fire. He goes on with his life like normal until he meets a girl named Clarrise who changes
everything he once thought. We also watched a movie called The Truman Show. This movie is
about a guy named Truman Burbank who lives in a normal world where everything is the same.
Then he starts learning more about this perfect world and begins to become curious. I find that both
of these characters are the same because they both get betrayed, they go with the flow, and act
irrationally throughout their stories. The first reason I find both Guy Montagand Truman Burbank
alike is the fact that they both get betrayed. In Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradbury, Montag s house gets
called in to be burned down because he had books. When he asked who turned in the call, he
learns that his own wife, Mildred, was the one who called. Mildred was too frightened by these
books to care about her own home being burned to ashes. She betrayed Montag, leaving him with
nothing. In The Truman Show, Truman Burbank is betrayed on multiple occasions. Truman was
talking with his best friend, Marlon, about how he began to think that the world revolved around
him when Marlon said something along the lines of, I would never lie to you. Because they are
best friends, Truman believes his lie. Marlon is just an actor, so

favorite times of the typical school day is lunch time. Students have the chance to get out of the
routine of class and relax for a while, eat lunch, and socialize. They are able to enjoy a delicious
meal sometimes on campus, and sometimes off campus. The majority of people stay in house and
choose to eat the food provided for them by the school. Fortunately, the school lunches are
amazing! The federal government helps provide the food served at Worland High School every
day and they do a swell job of doing so. The Federally Funded School lunches are not only highly
nutritious but taste amazing every day and many kids look forward to it as a highlight of their
day. Firstly, the food tastes incredible. With many delicious main courses such as: Mystery meat
sandwiches, spongy chewy ribs, and surprise casserole. It s a wonder how more kids don t
choose to eat with the school every day. In fact we should make eating at the school a requirement

Essay on A Pair of Tickets Amy Tan
A Pair of Tickets Amy Tan Amy Tan s A Pair Of Tickets is a story concerning family and roots.
June May, like the author herself, was a Chinese born in USA and grew up with an American
background culture, whereas her mother grew up in China and then immigrated to America.
Looking at the repeated words, we discussed that one there are many words such as mother, sister,
father and Aiyi. Most of the characters in this story belong to one family, June May s family. It
suggests to us that the tale is about relations and where we stand in our family. Even Aiyi brings

The imagery of the make up coming off when June May reaches China due to the heat and

There is a parallel in the story between the father and daughter. It is not only June May who
discovers her Chinese roots but also her father rediscovers his childhood Chinese in him. Both
the father and daughter are going to China for the same reason: to see their sisters. Her father is
going to meet his older sister, Aiyi, and June May is going to see her half sisters from her
mother s first mirage. Their reaction when they see their sisters is the same; they are both
emotionally moved. Their response when June May helps her father take a picture of him and
Aiyi is the same as when June May and her sisters eagerly wait for the film to develop. The
camera flashes and I hand them the snapshot. Aiyi and my father still stand close together, each of
them holding the corner of the picture, watching as their images begin to form. They are almost
reverentially quiet. The flash of the Polaroid goes off and my father hands me the snapshot. My
sisters and I watch quietly together, eager to see what develops. One of the important elements of
the story are the names of the characters. In Chinese all names have a special meaning. June May s

Digital Communication, Data, And Codes
When we enter data onto a computer system or other device by way of the keyboard, each
character is encoded into an equivalent binary coded pattern, using one of the standard coding
schemes that are used for the transposition of information. When representing all characters on a
keyboard, an exclusive pattern of 7 or 8 bits in size is used. The use of 7 bits means that 128
different elements can be represented, while 8 bits can represent 256 elements. At the receiving
end the process is reversed to show the character key strike instead of the binary code.
The most commonly used code patterns are the Extended Binary Coded Decimal (EBCDIC) and the
American Standard Code for Information Interchange codes (ASCII). Both coding schemes support
all the normal alphabetic, numeric, and punctuation characters, more commonly referred to as
printable characters and a range of additional control characters, known as non printable characters.
This paper will be discussing what data transmission is. Other points we will discuss will be: What
is digital communication, data communication, data transfer, and what is transmission as used in
telecommunications?
Data transmission is the movement of data in form of bits between multiple devices. The transfer
can take place by using various materials such as coaxial cables and Fiber Optics. There are two
types of data transmissions, parallel and serial.
Digital data transmission can occur in two basic modes: serial or parallel. Data within a

excellent job bringing The Ghost Sonata to life, and the use of present day Syria as the setting,

Sierpinski Triangle Essay
The Sierpinski Triangle
Deep within the realm of fractal math lies a fascinating triangle filled with unique properties and
intriguing patterns. This is the Sierpinski Triangle, a fractal of triangles with an area of zero and
an infinitely long perimeter. There are many ways to create this triangle and many areas of study in
which it appears.
Named after the Polish mathematician, Waclaw Sierpinski, the Sierpinski Trianglehas been the
topic of much study since Sierpinski first discovered it in the early twentieth century. Although it
appears simple, the Sierpinski Triangle is actually a complex and intriguing fractal. Fractals have

Using this formula:
Log(4)
= Log(2)
Log(22)
= Log(2)
2Log(2)
= Log(2)
= 2
A square comes out to be a two dimensional object, but it doesn t work out so cleanly with the
Sierpinski Triangle. When you divide the triangle into pieces whose sides are half the size of the
original, you get three self similar triangles, so the formula works out:
Log(3)
= Log(2)
≈ 1.58496
But how can this be possible? The picture of the triangle is two dimensional. But remember, this is
only a depiction of the triangle. The real Sierpinski Triangle cannot be drawn because it is
infinitely detailed. 3
Another interesting aspect of the Sierpinski Triangle is its creation. There are several ways of
producing an image of the Sierpinski Triangle. The first and simplest method is by taking an
equilateral triangle and connecting the midpoints to create four triangles with sides that are half the
size of the original. Disregard the middle triangle and repeat these steps with the newly created
three other triangles. The Sierpinski Triangle begins to appear.
Of course, this would only be a true Sierpinski Triangle if you were to repeat these steps an infinite
number of times. So, realistically, this method only creates an image that resembles the Sierpinski
Triangle.
The next method of Sierpinski Triangle creation is by using the Chaos Game. The Chaos Game is
a method that uses randomly picked points to build an image of the triangle. To

Analysis Of Man On The Moon

When man first walked on the moon it was a very big accomplishment for mankind especially the
U.S.A., many people wrote articles or simply talked about and shared their opinions on this huge
accomplishment. In the text that appeared on Times magazine titled, Man Takes First Steps on the
Moon , one can see how much of an accomplishment it was for the U.S and many other people to
have been able to walk on the moon. In the text ethos and logos are used a few times to be able
to make a more possibly effective text on people reading the article and be able to show how
much of a huge deal this was for mankind. The following sentence is the first sentence in the
paragraph which says a lot about what the text is going to go towards, Neil Armstrong became the
first man to take a walk on the moon s surface early today. , seeing that the first sentence is about
how a man walked on the moon it shows most likely the rest of the text will be based around or
on this man s actions. The next sentence shows how many people including the president and
pope expressed how it was a huge accomplishment for mankind for a man to walk on the moon
and make it back to Earth safely, At Castelgandolfo the Pope greeted news of the lunar landing by
exclaiming: Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to men of goodwill! , it makes sure to
state it is the pope talking about the moon landing.

What Evangelicalism And Fundamentalism Means Throughout...
This semester we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means
throughout history, especially in our Western culture. I am intrigued with them both and their
very presence in many of our modern day congregations. After visiting Grace Covenant Church
of Austin, Texas, much of the contributions that have been emphasized in books such as The
American Evangelical Story by Douglas Sweeney and American Apocalypse by Matthew
Sutton, I experienced while at Grace. We are a church transformed by grace, connected through
relationships and committed to service is their mission statement and as is everything down in
Texas, they are big! They have a large campus with several buildings on site with the promise of
riding in a golf cart if you have special needs or just need transportation to get to a different
building. I must say, as someone who works with youth, I was impressed as to their commitment
to a separate building for those kids in preschool up through high school. At a time when
autonomy is so important for a young person, having their own space seemed quite impressive.

Tim Burton Techniques
From films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to The Corpse Bride, director Tim Burton has
charmed millions with his unique style and techniques. Tim Burton uses low key lighting and non
diegetic sound in order to fluctuate the emotions, perspectives of the character, situations, and
mood in order to show his audience that everyone is different in their own special way.
To begin, Tim Burton uses low key lighting to manipulate different emotions within the audience
and create suspense. In Burton s film The Corpse Bride, when Victor is walking through the forest,

In Burton s film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, he uses non diegetic sound when Willy Wonka

changes the mood of the story. By using the orchestral music, Tim Burton is able to show the
children and their parents thoughts and emotions.Burton allows the audience to get a deeper

Hope Was Here Comparative Theme
As I was reading Hope Was Here, by Joan Bauer, and Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes, by Chris
Crutcher, I started to see some common themes shared by the two books. Each book showed the
values of a strong friendship, the power of strength and determination, and the importance of
helping others. The first theme I noticed from the books is the value of friendship. In Staying
Fat For Sarah Byrnes, if Sarah Byrnes didn t have Eric Calhoune as a friend, she would have never
told anyone the true story about the burns on her face. Having a friend to tell her story to, saved
Sarah from her father. If Eric Calhoune didn t have Sarah Byrnes as a friend, he would not have
stood up for himself when he was getting picked on. He was able to do so because he had learned
how to be tough from his friend Sarah Byrnes. In the book Hope Was Here, if GT Stoop didn t have
Hope and Braverman as friends, he wouldn t have received half of his votes in his campaign for
mayor. GT received more votes because his friends spent a lot of time campaigning for him. If
Hope didn t have GT as a friend, she would not have had the experience of having a father.... Show

In Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes, if Sarah Byrnes did not have a lot of strength and determination
she would not have learned to hold the secret of her dad burning her. The secret would have
eaten her up inside but she had a lot of strength. If Eric didn t have a lot of strength and
determination he wouldn t go the longest in his swim practices. He would give up if he didn t
have strength and determination. In Hope Was Here, If Addie didn t have strength and
determination, she would never have had a child. She had three miscarriages and finally she got
Hope because Hope s mother gave her up for adoption. If Hope didn t have a lot of strength she
wouldn t have changed her name from Tulip to Hope. She wanted to live up to her name and
having strength is a sign of

  • 2. Authentic Dissent And The Devil s Advocate The results of the study which compared authentic dissent and the devil s advocate found that the devil s advocate did not reach the level of the original thoughts stimulated by the authentic dissenter but in turn did stimulate a greater amount of thoughts that supported the initial viewpoint (Nemeth et al., 2001). The study also revealed with the use of the three way ANOVA a significant variance between minority authority and consistent devil s advocate. Planned contrast revealed that the consistent devil s advocate was disliked more than the control (Nemeth et al., 2001). While the authentic minority was only slightly disliked more than the control, these two methods did not considerably fluctuate on likability (Nemeth et al., 2001). The use of the three level ANOVA did have a noticeable change to the number of solutions found. It revealed that when using a planned contrast model the authentic minority condition generated the most solutions to the results in the study. With higher solutions than both consistent devil s advocate condition and the control, these two did not fluctuate by much. Regarding the mood of the groups which these processes were used seemed to be very similar. There were few differences between authentic minority and devil s advocate with regard to anger and excitement (Nemeth et al., 2001). Concerning the observations of the groups process, a third principle revealed three factors, harmony, stimulation, and group conflict (Nemeth et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Animal Vs Asian Elephants Asian elephants are a big mammal but let me tell you more about them and what makes them different from the other elephants. Asian elephants live in Nepal, India and Southeast Asia scrub forests and rainforests. Asian elephants have been around for over 55 million years elephants are very successful animals they found many different fossils and they have said over 300 species have walked the earth over a long period. Elephants eat roots, grasses, fruit, and bark. An adult elephantcan consume up to 300 pounds of food in a single day. Elephants form deep family bonds and live in tight matriarchal family groups of related females called a herd. When a calf is born, it is raised and protected by the whole matriarchal herd. Female elephants live in a herd. Male elephants have very different social needs, males are driven out of the family group as they approach sexual maturity, males spend as much as 95% of their lives alone. When it comes to babies getting attacked by predators, the whole herd pitches in. After five years of rearing the young elephants, the mother gives birth to a new infant weaning the now adolescent calf at the same time. The subspecies of the elephants are African and Asian. In Africa there is two different species the African bush elephant, and the African forest elephant. In Asia they just have the Asian elephant. Fitbit is one of many companies that are trying to take of the challenge of how to make fitness and tracking it easy and fun to do. Introduction Fitbit started when two men, Eric and James, came to realize that wireless technology was starting to take off. They wanted to find a way to combine wireless technology and fitness together and after a few months in 2007 Fitbit was founded. Eric and James were able to create a wearable technology that could track people s fitness activities with minimal effort from the user. For example, the Fitbit Flex, one of the original Fitbit wearables that was on the market, now customers can only get the Flex 2, but when it was on the market it cost $99.95 when bought from the Fitbit store. It only cost the company $17.36 to make, so clearly Fitbit was making a profit (Teardown, 2003). The influences that society brings can be a good thing to a company as well as a bad thing. For Fitbit the change customers are making from wanting a fitness tracker to more of a smartwatch may put Fitbit in a bit of a situation, but they have produced the Fitbit Ionic which is Fitbit s version of a smartwatch. According to Mark Sullivan, More fitness minded people are moving to smartwatches, mainly the Apple Watch (Sullivan, 2017). The article talks about how for Fitbit going into the smartwatch area could be dangerous for Fitbit because how is it going to compete with Apple and come out relatively ok. The advantage that Fitbit has is that its smartwatch can work on either Android or Apple phones, so it is not limited like the Apple watch. Currently, Fitbit is in a stage of growth, but that does seem to be stagnating a bit. According to Fitbit s preliminary fourth quarter results from 2016 they reported that they expect to have revenue between $572 million to $580 milling (Fitbit announces, ... • 5. Compromises Of 1850 The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could not stand what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely divided and undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to struggle. Thus, during the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any compromise that could fix the problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South could not agree on anything and were in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing them food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it seemed humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all knew it was wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost impossible to be agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct or wrong. Another issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s Ferry was when John Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves would help, but he was wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North condemned the violence but the South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof the North s true intentions, to use slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would not be any more compromise to go over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening and wouldn t take anything for an answer. The countries people were fighting and there was nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians were in an uproar on what should be done and could not come to a solution for anything. After this year I will finally be graduating and get to move on to my career in the real world. I just have to get through this last year of college and one last year of living in a dorm. As a senior, I could have easily chosen to live off campus or in campus apartments, but a dorm was the choice that made the most sense for my busy schedule. I get my key with ease at the front desk and it starts to hit me that this is not all a dream and I really am going to be living in Lohman for the year. I try to remain positive as I walk to my room on the second floor. I remember Lohman having big rooms and just as much closet space as Schaaf, so maybe it will not be as bad as I think. I have hopes that it is not as bad as I remember it to be from my freshman year, but as I reach my room I am sadly mistaken. When I open the door to my new room it is worse than I could have imagined. The room has dust coated floors and spider webs hanging from the ceiling. It looks like the room has not been touched in years. I make my way over to the bed and notice it is an old fashioned metal framed bed that has rusted to the point that it has holes throughout it. Nicolo Machiavelli provides his beliefs on human nature in his text, The Prince. While this work mostly surrounds the proper way to lead a princedom, there are many parts of the text that show how humannature affects the way a prince should rule his people. The examples of princes having to work around humanity provided over the course of Machiavelli s work ultimately reflect what he considers to be flaws within human beings everywhere. An extensive examination of the devices and techniques used within Nicolo Machiavelli s The Princeshows how he believes human beings are self interested beings that can only be ruled through deception and force. The continuation of life and avoidance of death are two of the most essential goals for any and all living species. Machiavelli is correct in pointing out that, despite their complexity, human beings are still subject to these laws. Even a figure as authoritative as the prince still has to consider his mortality and find ways to preserve his life. Machiavelli examines the ways a prince can defend himself when he says, men are either to be treated kindly, or utterly crushed, since they can revenge lighter injuries, but not graver, (Machiavelli 4). This gun was the one used by the legendary cowboys and was the one with which they gained enormous amounts of glory. Ever since then, the Peacemaker has shaped American history in numerous ways and came to embody all the values like individualism, freedom and power that America stood for. The Colt revolvers, later called the Peacemakers, that were invented in the 19th century shaped American history not only by giving the U.S. armed forces and the Union army the upper hand and the power to subdue their enemies in monumental battles, but also by instilling in the people a strong sense of individualism and the mentality of the manifest destiny. To begin with, before the 1830s, the only guns that were available to the public and the militarywere the muskets and rifles, and primitive pistols. The muskets and rifles were very large in size, took a long amount of time to reload and were difficult to aim. Even though they might have been effective when used in large numbers at the frontline of the battlefields due to the heavy concentration of bullets they produced and since great accuracy was not required, they were not as practical or useful to the general public as their slow reload time and difficulty to ... In regards to a zombie outbreak, each paradigm will predict a different outcome for survival and cooperation. A liberal would argue that zombies represent a classic problem of dying and then coming to life in an undead state and trying to make others to do so as well. Undoubtedly, the zombiedispute would cross borderlines and affect all states, so the benefits from policy coordination would be massive. A realist would argue that international politics would not be remarkably affected, at its main, with the introduction of zombies into the mix of politics. More humans will come to one with the zombie way of undead life, as it were, the remaining humans would feel social pressure to conform and eventually adopt the norms and practices of zombies kind of like towards the end of Shaun of the Dead. In the end, even humans would adopt zombie constructed perceptions of right and wrong, and when it s appropriate to grunt in a menacing manner. Constructivism emphasizes the significance of beliefs, values, norms, and identities in constructing social reality and ultimately shaping a state s behavior. As one scholar compressed the constructivist paradigm, anarchy is what states make of it (Wendt 391). Transnational norms, relationships, and identities are shaped over time as states interact with one another; these identities and norms, in turn, mutually construct state behavior. As opposed to realists, who argue that anarchy unavoidably leads to competition for power and conflict, constructivists maintain that the lack of central authority in worldwide politics has no inherent qualities that enact upon states a speciп¬Ѓc pattern of behavior. Therefore, constructivism opens the door to a wide variety of policy responses to a particular challenge. Applying the constructivist perspective to the п¬Ѓctional zombie apocalypse scenario, Drezner contends that the existential peril posed by zombies could be the exogenous shock needed to break down ... In the history of liquors it holds a special place for being one of the most controversial drinks of French history. Yet it wasn t always that way, for a period in the late 1800 s absinthe was one of the most popular liquors in the western world. Some companies at the height of its popularity produced over 30,000 liters of it a day. American Chemist T. A. Breaux has spent years researching the drink; through his research he has found that the drink originated as a medicine developed as a digestive aide in the late 1700 s (pg.2 3). The drink then rose in popularity after the 1840 s when the French government would dispense rations of the drink to its soldiers fighting in foreign campaigns as a means of purifying unclean water. These soldiers developed a taste for the drink claiming it to be the drink of a true man, due to its strong bitter taste (pg. 4 5). By the late 1870 s it became the most coveted drink, especially among artist and intellectuals who would feature the iconic drink in their works. • 27. Relation Between Sarcopenia And Functional Disabilities... Relation between sarcopenia and functional disabilities and increase risk of falls Several cross sectional, observational studies have related sarcopenia to decline of functional status, such as mobility performance, self reported functional limitations, and disability, it is well established that the aging process itself is associated with numerous changes in the human body. One of the most significant age related anatomical changes is that which happens to the skeletal muscle mass (Visser and Schaap, 2011). Sarcopenia is used to indicate progressive reduction in muscle mass, muscle strength and function that affect older people (Pathy et al., 2006). Sarcopenia results in unfavorable and detrimental effects on an older person s physical function. Muscle mass decrease is probably the single most frequent cause of late life disability among older people. It is directly responsible for functional impairment with loss of strength, and increased likelihood of falls and fractures, as muscles account for 60% of the body protein stores, the reduction in lean body mass has other health effects independent of its functional consequences (Rolland et al., 2008). A number of physiological functions that take place within the muscle tissues have an essential role in human metabolism. For example, muscles are important body protein reserves and energy that can be used in extreme conditions such as stress or malnutrition; amino acids can be mobilized during acute infections and are ... OF LINGUISTICS MA 1st SEMESTER ROLL NO: 34 INTRODUCTION One of the major consequences of the arbitrary nature of sign, is the distinction made between the synchronic and diachronic study of language by the Swiss linguist and semiotician Ferdinand De Saussure. Regarding the debate surrounding the perspective, it has been suggested by Saussure s critics that in trying to distinguish between these two, and in granting priority on the synchronic nature of study over the diachronic one, he was to a great extent ignoring the historical entity of language. Inspite of the distinction made by Saussure, he believed that both kind of facts are intertwined. Hence it raised a paradoxical situation. SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC STUDY OF LANGUAGES Synchronic study of language refers to the study of the linguistic system in a particular state without taking the time period through which it has evolved into consideration. Here the languages are treated as self contained systems of communication at any specific time without taking it s history into account. • 33. Adversity In Titus Andronicus In both Titus Andronicus and Richard II the protagonist must face adversity and prove to their respective enemies that they have not been defeated. Titus is put in a position where he made a deal that was broken and Richard has been robbed of his title as king from Bolingbroke. Both characters use their metaphors when speaking to prove to everyone that they are still powerful when their pride has been stolen from them. In Act III Scene I, Titus Andronicuscuts off his hand because he made a deal to exchange his hand for his sons Quintus and Martius who were framed for the murder of Bassianus (III. 1. 266 287). Aaron in a later scene states, I trained thy brethren to that guileful hole where the dead corpse of Bassianus lay, (V. 1. 106 107). A messenger then enters with the heads of Quintus and Martius because the deal was abandoned. This causes Titus to make a speech about how this action will make him stronger and not break him. Titus begins by describing his tears after he receives the heads of his sons. He says I have not another tear to shed, (III. 1. 266) and that he hopes his eyes will make his enemies blind with tributary tears, (III. 1. 269). Tears typically represent defeat and self pity so Titus refuses to cry. He has lost many sons and Lavinia is physically broken so his family has experienced a large amount of pain. The tears that Titus speaks of will blind his enemies as a tribute. This tribute is to all of Titus s children that have suffered and he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Comparison Of Betrayal In Fahrenheit 451 In class, we read this book called Fahrenheit 451. In this book, there is a character named Guy Montag. He is a fireman, but, in this universe, they burn down houses instead of saving them from fire. He goes on with his life like normal until he meets a girl named Clarrise who changes everything he once thought. We also watched a movie called The Truman Show. This movie is about a guy named Truman Burbank who lives in a normal world where everything is the same. Then he starts learning more about this perfect world and begins to become curious. I find that both of these characters are the same because they both get betrayed, they go with the flow, and act irrationally throughout their stories. The first reason I find both Guy Montagand Truman Burbank alike is the fact that they both get betrayed. In Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradbury, Montag s house gets called in to be burned down because he had books. When he asked who turned in the call, he learns that his own wife, Mildred, was the one who called. Mildred was too frightened by these books to care about her own home being burned to ashes. She betrayed Montag, leaving him with nothing. In The Truman Show, Truman Burbank is betrayed on multiple occasions. Truman was talking with his best friend, Marlon, about how he began to think that the world revolved around him when Marlon said something along the lines of, I would never lie to you. Because they are best friends, Truman believes his lie. Marlon is just an actor, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Students have the chance to get out of the routine of class and relax for a while, eat lunch, and socialize. They are able to enjoy a delicious meal sometimes on campus, and sometimes off campus. The majority of people stay in house and choose to eat the food provided for them by the school. Fortunately, the school lunches are amazing! The federal government helps provide the food served at Worland High School every day and they do a swell job of doing so. The Federally Funded School lunches are not only highly nutritious but taste amazing every day and many kids look forward to it as a highlight of their day. Firstly, the food tastes incredible. With many delicious main courses such as: Mystery meat sandwiches, spongy chewy ribs, and surprise casserole. It s a wonder how more kids don t choose to eat with the school every day. • 37. Essay on A Pair of Tickets Amy Tan A Pair of Tickets Amy Tan Amy Tan s A Pair Of Tickets is a story concerning family and roots. June May, like the author herself, was a Chinese born in USA and grew up with an American background culture, whereas her mother grew up in China and then immigrated to America. Looking at the repeated words, we discussed that one there are many words such as mother, sister, father and Aiyi. Most of the characters in this story belong to one family, June May s family. It suggests to us that the tale is about relations and where we stand in our family. Even Aiyi brings practically her whole family to see her brother and niece. This is also one of the stronger traits of the Chinese cultures where there are many family occasions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The imagery of the make up coming off when June May reaches China due to the heat and humidity may also act as a symbol of her taking off her mask an revealing her true identity; her Chinese identity by blood. Both the father and daughter are going to China for the same reason: to see their sisters. Her father is going to meet his older sister, Aiyi, and June May is going to see her half sisters from her mother s first mirage. Their reaction when they see their sisters is the same; they are both emotionally moved. Their response when June May helps her father take a picture of him and Aiyi is the same as when June May and her sisters eagerly wait for the film to develop. The camera flashes and I hand them the snapshot. Aiyi and my father still stand close together, each of them holding the corner of the picture, watching as their images begin to form. They are almost reverentially quiet. The flash of the Polaroid goes off and my father hands me the snapshot. My sisters and I watch quietly together, eager to see what develops. • 38. Digital Communication, Data, And Codes When we enter data onto a computer system or other device by way of the keyboard, each character is encoded into an equivalent binary coded pattern, using one of the standard coding schemes that are used for the transposition of information. When representing all characters on a keyboard, an exclusive pattern of 7 or 8 bits in size is used. The use of 7 bits means that 128 different elements can be represented, while 8 bits can represent 256 elements. At the receiving end the process is reversed to show the character key strike instead of the binary code. The most commonly used code patterns are the Extended Binary Coded Decimal (EBCDIC) and the American Standard Code for Information Interchange codes (ASCII). Both coding schemes support all the normal alphabetic, numeric, and punctuation characters, more commonly referred to as printable characters and a range of additional control characters, known as non printable characters. This paper will be discussing what data transmission is. Other points we will discuss will be: What is digital communication, data communication, data transfer, and what is transmission as used in telecommunications? Data transmission is the movement of data in form of bits between multiple devices. The transfer can take place by using various materials such as coaxial cables and Fiber Optics. There are two types of data transmissions, parallel and serial. Digital data transmission can occur in two basic modes: serial or parallel. Data within a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The set was designed to look like an apartment building that had been bombed in a war torn town. The costumes that the actors wore were true to what you would see people of Syria wearing. Many of the women were dressed in the traditional Abayah, which is, a black garment that covers them from shoulders to feet. They were also wearing a head and face cover that only shows their eyes. The one costume that really stood out was The FiancГ©e. She wore a long white dress that had an antique look to it. Her hair was very long and white as well. Using this formula: Log(4) = Log(2) Log(22) = Log(2) 2Log(2) = Log(2) = 2 A square comes out to be a two dimensional object, but it doesn t work out so cleanly with the Sierpinski Triangle. When you divide the triangle into pieces whose sides are half the size of the original, you get three self similar triangles, so the formula works out: Log(3) = Log(2) ≈ 1.58496 But how can this be possible? The picture of the triangle is two dimensional. But remember, this is only a depiction of the triangle. The real Sierpinski Triangle cannot be drawn because it is infinitely detailed. 3 Another interesting aspect of the Sierpinski Triangle is its creation. There are several ways of producing an image of the Sierpinski Triangle. The first and simplest method is by taking an equilateral triangle and connecting the midpoints to create four triangles with sides that are half the size of the original. Disregard the middle triangle and repeat these steps with the newly created three other triangles. The Sierpinski Triangle begins to appear. Of course, this would only be a true Sierpinski Triangle if you were to repeat these steps an infinite number of times. So, realistically, this method only creates an image that resembles the Sierpinski Triangle. The next method of Sierpinski Triangle creation is by using the Chaos Game. The Chaos Game is a method that uses randomly picked points to build an image of the triangle. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This semester we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means throughout history, especially in our Western culture. I am intrigued with them both and their very presence in many of our modern day congregations. After visiting Grace Covenant Church of Austin, Texas, much of the contributions that have been emphasized in books such as The American Evangelical Story by Douglas Sweeney and American Apocalypse by Matthew Sutton, I experienced while at Grace. We are a church transformed by grace, connected through relationships and committed to service is their mission statement and as is everything down in Texas, they are big! They have a large campus with several buildings on site with the promise of riding in a golf cart if you have special needs or just need transportation to get to a different building. I must say, as someone who works with youth, I was impressed as to their commitment to a separate building for those kids in preschool up through high school.
