The Four Noble Truths In Buddhism
The Four Noble Truths are the four central beliefs containing the essence of Buddhist teachings.
Buddhism is a major global religion with a complex history and system of beliefs. What is suffering?
Suffering is, the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. Suffering exists; it has a cause, but it
also has an end; and it has a cause which brings about its end. The notion of suffering is not intended
to convey a negative world view, but instead a perspective that deals with the world as it is, and
attempts to rectify it. The four noble truths are a plan for dealing with the suffering humanity faces,
which is suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature. These four noble truths consist of the truth
of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the
path of that leads to the end of suffering. Buddha had learned that all people have one thing in
common: if they think about their own life, or look at the world around them, they will see that life is
full of suffering. The first noble truth is the truth of suffering, which is also called Dukkha. Buddha
had said that suffering may be physical or mental. Suffering includes when someone is suffering of
birth, old age, sickness, and death are all unavoidable, it is something that comes with life. Physical
suffering can come in many forms, but it is part of us as human to endure the suffering. As we become
older all of us find that life can become more

Apple s Impact On The Computer Industry
Executive Summary Apple has been the leading force in innovation for the past couple of years, not
only does it dominate the mobile phone industry, it has also transformed the computer industry too.
With millions of people using their products today, Apple is one of the most successful companies in
the world. However, Apple did not come all this way from nothing. It suffered ups and downs just like
any other company, with this being said, the way Apple dealt with its problems was the difference
between it and any other company. Apple is strong today because of the way that it was built by its co
founder Steve jobs. With his leadership skills, the culture he put into place and the socialization
process of the new employees, incorporating them into the company s beliefs and values, were just
building blocks to the bigger picture. Apple is also successful due to the fact that it has good
communication within it that improved after a specific incident in the past by implementing what is
known as a Direct Responsible Individual (DRI). A mistake at Apple will almost never go unpunished
and because of this, Apple employees perform at 110%.
Apple s Elements of Success:
Strong company culture involvement.
Transformational Leadership
Communication between employees and upper management (DRI s)
Critical decision making

I Want to Study Educational Psychology
It is the extraordinarily young hours of May 24th, 1993. The sun is trying with all its might to shine its
light through the hospital windows in an attempt to bring life back into the world. In this hospital, the
smell of the sterile hair fills everyone s nose as the nurse s bustle about, tending to their patients.
Then, the wail a newborn baby rings out through the silent maternity ward halls; I have been born.
Fast forward almost 21 years into the future. My name is Deanna Mix and I was born in Nashville,
Tennessee to Aneta and Gary Mix. Five years later, my parents had my younger and only sibling,
Samantha. I spent the first 11 years of my childhood in Tennessee, a state I truly love and intend on
moving back to the fall season to continue my education in International Relations. In Tennessee, we
lived with my babcia and dziadek, which is Polish for grandma and grandpa. Since my mother and her
side of the family moved to America from Poland, I grew up in a bilingual family, and I was able to
learn a second language fairly early in life. That being said, according to many psychological studies,
learning a second language early greatly helps a child s cognitive development
(http://tip.duke.edu/node/866). Soon after my 11th birthday, I moved to Belleview, Florida were I still
currently reside. Shortly after we moved, my parents went their separate ways, with both of them
eventually remarrying. In the year 2012, I finally graduated from Belleview High school, and since I

The Police Force At The Baltimore Police Station
The Baltimore police force is provided with more resources than a small town police force. The Wire
showed how good the resources were at the Baltimore police station. The movie showed how the
media turned the murder case into a drug case. When the media got involved the police chief made a
new drug task force to fix the problem. This drug task force was made of people in different
departments of the Baltimore police. It shows how the Baltimore police force can spare people for a
new program. When this drug force started to get information about the suspect the head chief funded
the program. With the funds, the drug force got more cars, vans, and listening devices to help them get
the suspects faster. When the drug force got enough information for a bust, the police force spared
manpower and vehicles so they can get the suspect.
Across America, there are a lot of small towns that make up this country. Within small townships there
are police forces that only have five to ten officers that patrol acres of woods or farm land. On a daily
basis these officers deal with minor crime like drugs, aggravated assault, burglary, and property
crimes. If a crime happens it can take about twenty minutes for the township police to get there or it
can at the state police up to an hour to get to the scene of the crime. In a big city like Baltimore police
force take about three to five minutes to get to the scene of a crime. The township police force might
get a new police car every couple

Wal Mart Essay
What impresses me about Wal Mart is its growth in the past four decades. It is unbelievable how large
the company has gotten in the time it has been open. As of 2004, it had almost 5,000 stores across the
world with profits of $9 billion. It is impressive that its strategy of low prices hasn t been duplicated
by that many companies. Wal Mart has also made the transition into the foreign market and has done
extremely well. It has over 1,000 different foreign locations in nine different countries as of 2004.
There are not many things that unimpressive about Wal Mart. Their strategy is one of the best of any
industry. Its international expansion is continually growing and it of sells the merchandise of ten stores

Sam Walton found a strategy that he felt would work for his company. Implemented it into a few
stores and when it work, he used it for all of his stores. He continued to improve every aspect of his
company and used the same formula with each of his stores. Wal Mart s strategy includes multiple
store formats, low everyday prices, wide selection, a big percentage of name brand merchandise, a
customer friendly store environment, low operating costs, innovative merchandising, a strong
emphasis on customer satisfaction, disciplined expansion into new geographic markets, and using
acquisitions to enter foreign markets. Out of the five generic strategies Wal Mart is employing the
overall low cost strategy: lower cost and a broad cross section of buyers. The chief components of its
strategy included in Wal Mart s multiple store format strategy include Discount stores, Supercenters,
Sam s Clubs, and Neighborhood markets. The major components of Wal Mart s expansion strategy for
domestic stores is to use a backward expansion by starting in smaller geographic areas, saturating each
area with stores before moving into the larger metropolitan centers. The components of merchandising
innovation include testing, adapting, and applying a wide range of cutting edge merchandising
approaches. Wal Mart s relies less on advertising than most other discount chains and

Chemotherapy In Children
Cancer starts when cells in a body start to grow out of control. Cells in almost any part of the body can
become cancer and can spread to other areas of the body. Cancer is challenging in both children and
adults and chemotherapy, how the cancer formed in the body, and getting diagnosed are some of the
difficult things. Compared to adults, children have a better response to chemotherapy. Children are
more responsive to chemotherapy than adults because children have vulnerable cancer cells which are
the ideal target for chemotherapy. The cells for the cancers more likely in children, like leukemia and
nervous system cancer, increase rapidly and they respond to chemotherapy in a more dramatic fashion.
Furthermore, most side effects of chemotherapy for children are temporary. ... Show more content on

Childhood cancers are often the result of DNA changes in cells that take place very early in their life,
sometimes before birth. Some children inherit DNA mutations from their parent which increases their
risks of cancer. Leukemia, a common childhood cancer, is caused by changes of DNA inside bone
marrow cells. There are two conditions that children can be born with that increase their chance of
getting cancer, Beckwith Wiedemann syndrome and Fanconi s anemia. Beckwith Wiedemann
syndrome is an overgrowth disorder and it can cause Wilms tumor, a type of tumor that starts in
kidneys. Fanconi anemia is inherited and it affects the bone marrow which can cause leukemia. Adults
can get cancer more ways than children. Environmental factors and lifestyle choices play a major role
in adults getting cancer. A major factor for cancer in America is obesity. Obesity will soon take over
tobacco as the number one risk for cancer. Obesity causes colon, rectum, kidney, pancreas and other
types of common cancers. Overexposure to UV lights increase the risk of melanoma. Finally, if a

How Did The French Revolution Influence The Ideas Of The...
Changes in scientific understanding helped contribute to the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment.
The scientific revolution of the seventeenth century influenced the philosophers of this time. The idea
of the Enlightenment was that a society could be improved by using the principles of rationality and
reason. Philosophers hoped that by using the scientific method, they could make progress toward a
better society by using not only politics; but reason as well ( Lesson 2: The Ideas of the Enlightenment
). The Enlightenment is about becoming enlightened; it s about using your brain and not just your
heart. These ideas challenged the fundamental principles of French society, including the authority if

The Ideas of the Enlightenment ). By preventing any one person or group from gaining too much
power, this system provides the greatest freedom and security for the state. This idea can be found

Ideal Moral Code Analysis
John Arthur and Peter Singer have different views when it comes to Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral
Code . Both theories are intuitive; yet clash heads at the idea of an opinion other than their own. They
essentially both argue for what is our true duty. Peter Singer defends that we ought to prevent evil
whenever we can do so without sacrificing something of comparable moral significance (Famine
Relief and the Ideal Moral Code pg. 813) . He believes that we should donate at least half of our
earnings to people in absolute poverty, which in this case means poverty by any standard. He also says
we should help out people in other countries before we help out our own neighbor. The fact that a
person is physically near to us, so that we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He says we should think about how people really are in a given society and then determining what
would be the best is the right way to go about it. He believes that this will help if we think about how
people are in a given society because we are more selfish then we think. We need to look at what
human beings are actually like. By showing a moral code like this is would not reject entitlements in
favor of the greater moral evil rule (Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral code pg. 823) . Which helps his
argument on entitlement. We are entitled to what we do with our body, our right to life, our life to
property, and our negative and positive rights, which in his view cannot be

The Regency Grand Hotel is a five star hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The hotel was established fifteen

throughout this time. The hotel is one of Bangkok s most prestigious hotels, and its 700 employees

The Regency Grand Hotel has always been very profitable, and its employees have always worked
according to management s instructions. Their responsibility has been to ensure that the instructions
from their managers are carried out diligently and conscientiously. Under the previous management,
innovation and creativity were discouraged. Indeed, employees were punished for their mistakes and
discouraged from trying out ideas that had not been approved by management. As a result, employees
were afraid to be innovative and to take risks.
Becker met with Regency s managers and department heads to explain that empowerment would be
introduced in the hotel. He told them that employees must be empowered with decision making
authority so that they could use their initiative, creativity and judgment to satisfy guest needs, and
handle problems effectively and efficiently. However, he stressed that the more complex issues and
decisions were to be referred to superiors, who were to coach and assist rather than provide direct
orders. Furthermore, Becker stressed that mistakes were allowed but that making the same mistakes
more than twice would not be tolerated. He advised his managers and department heads not to discuss
with him minor issues or problems and not to consult with him about minor decisions. Nevertheless,
he told them that they were to discuss important, major issues and decisions with him. He concluded
the meeting by asking

Irving Berlin Contributions
Irving Berlin made important contributions to musicals and music writing. After his background
information is provided, the prior sentence will be proven by using examples of the songs he made as
a freelance songwriter, a songwriter for Broadway musical productions , and Hollywood Musical
productions, the popularity of the songs, and the awards.
Israel Berlin who we now know as Irving Berlin, was born May 11th, Eighteen 1888, in the town of
Tyumen, a Siberian city in Russia. He was the one out of eight children. His father, Moses Baline, was
a Cantor in the Jewish Synagogue, and his mother was Lena Lipkin Baline During the time he lived in
Russia, he and his family were treated terribly, for the fact that Russia was at that time attacking the
Jews and the Jewish community. The only thing he remembered about Russia was when an Anti
Semitic group burned down his house, and he sat in front of his house all night watching it burn. In
circa 1883 his family moved to Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States of America via
Ellis Island. Everyone in his family regardless of age, except for practical reasons such as an infant,
had to work. Although his family was very poor, he did not seem to notice. His father was a very strict
Jew and would punish his children with beatings even for as simple of a reason as taking their shoes
off in an unorthodox way. He worked odd jobs until he was eight years of age, when his father died,

POTATOES
The potatoes I used had been around for a while so were quite eye y so my first job was to wash them,
clean out any eyes and cut them into quarters. Each chunk of potato should be bite sized. Once the oil
is hot, add the potatoes. I like to dab them with paper towel to dry them first. Stir the potatoes and turn
the heat to medium low.

Simply clean the leek and cut into slices. I don t know if it s just me that gets particularly grubby leeks

Roundness In No Name Woman
Patriarchy as Represented by the Symbol of Roundness in Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name Woman
In the short story No Name Woman, Kingston pushes the motif of roundness pass its traditional
connotations of family, union, and fulfilment, and through it explores Chinese feudal traditions as a
tool of suppression for women, and the erased narrative of her aunt s fatal transgressions.
Roundness features heavily in Chinese cultural iconography, in round mooncakes, round doorways,
round windows, and round rice bowls, of the Chinese (Kingston 13). Its associations with perfection,
harmony, and familial values serve as a reminder of the law: the family must whole, faithfully keeping
the descent line by having sons to feed the old and the dead, who in turn look after the family (13). In
other words, roundness is the status quo, which bears particularly harshly on women in hard times,
when to be woman, to have a daughter in starvation time was waste enough (6). ... Show more content

The narrator s mother tells her story of her aunt as a cautionary tale, and in doing so draws a
connection between the two. The narrator s menstruation (Yue Jin in Chinese, as in the moon s passing
once again, the roundness motif) mirrors the her aunt s, her forerunner[ s] (8) protruding melon of a
stomach (3). Indeed, the narrator views her childhood, barred from simple joys of flying high kites and
carnival ride[s] and having to pa[y] in guilt (6) when she dares disobey, as markedly similar to her
aunt s life. Under the feudal system, women are relegated to the role of extending the descent line into
perpetuity. Roundness, as critic Sau Ling Cynthia Wong describes, is mindlessly self perpetuating; if a
symbol of perfection and self sufficiency, a circle also represents confinement ( Necessity and

Rock And Roll Impact On American Culture
Rock Roll
Rock Roll is a form of popular music that emerged in the United States in the late 40s and early 50s
from a fusion of blues, country and gospel, boogie woogie, swing and folk music. All of these
influences combined into a simple song structure, with 12 bar blues being one of the most significant
characteristics, that was often repetitive, fast, danceable and catchy. In fact, blues had the biggest
impact that gave birth to Rock Roll. Typical instruments of Rock Roll include electric guitar, piano,
bass, drums, horns and vocals. It is an important genre of music because it has the power to not only
influence but persist through generations of people and has had a huge impact on American society by
consistently setting the trend for pop music. Just like its influence on other forms of music, Rock Roll
had also influenced lifestyles, fashion, attitudes, television, language and dance. ... Show more content

Winter At Valley Forge Analysis

In Winter at Valley Forge, 1777 1778, I made a choice that I wouldn t be able to change afterwards. I
thought that Paris is more excited for the revolution than all of the United States together. That is not a

the conditions at camp, and what would be life back at home.
My whole family took part of Boston Tea Party in 1773 without me. This leads to the Declaration of

Slaughterhouse Five Summary
The second part of the book that I found enjoyable was the more serious topics Vonnegut touched
upon. The purpose, as stated in the first chapter, was to write a book about Dresden. I had never
previously known about this city existing much less that it was destroyed by allied troops. One would
think that with two years of history classes from that era in time, we would have heard it mentioned at
least once. That was his entire point, thousands of people died and nobody even talks about it. He did
not want to address the actual bombing as an event though, he more so wanted to show the effect it
had on the soldiers. Slaughterhouse 5 is really anti war sentiments based upon Dresden and its effect
on Billy Pilgrim. The first way in which this

The Athletic Shoe Industry Is Made Up Of Companies That...
Executive Summary
Introduction
The athletic shoe industry is made up of companies that produce footwear for athletic use. This is a
strong industry and has been around for over 100 years. The athletic shoe industry is one of the fastest
growing footwear industries and have top growing sales compared to other footwear industries (NDP
Group, 2016). The key players that currently dominate the market are Nike, Adidas, and Puma (Kates
Bolduc, 2013). This paper will use the porter five forces, industry life cycle, and the key players to
understand the industry. Over these years the athletic shoe industry has grown into a competitive
market.
Porter s Five Forces
The athletic shoe industry will be first analyzed by the Porter s Five Forces framework. The well
known Porter s Five Forces is a model that analyzes an industry and helps firms develop a business
strategy. The five forces model focuses on six forces that will determine the attractiveness of this
industry: (1) the risk of entry by potential competitors, (2) the intensity of rivalry among established
companies within an industry, (3) the bargaining power of buyers, (4) the bargaining power of
suppliers, (5) the closeness of substitutes to an industry s products, and (6) the power of complement
providers (Hill, Jones, Schilling, 2015).
The Risk of Entry by Potential Competitors
The threat of new entrants in the athletic shoe industry is very weak. Currently the market is
dominated by three major competitors, and

Essay Pip s Great Expectations
In the novel, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, the main character Philip Pirrip, who is known
as Pip throughout the novel, has a series of great expectations that he goes through. The title of the
novel, as many other great book titles, comes with various meanings that are present in the story. In
the literal sense Pip s great expectations refer to the 19th century meaning, which involve receiving a
large inheritance. Meanwhile, on a deeper level Pip sets goals that he hopes to accomplish in the
future which could also be referred to as his great expectations . The title, with these multiple
meanings that are attached to it, ends up being ironic after all is said and done at the end of the novel.

decides to recompense Pip for his time and then tells him that he no longer has to come back to the
Satis House. Everyday after this, Pip continuously thinks of Estella and of how he must become a
gentleman in order to be at the same level as Estella and eventually marry her. Another character
Biddy (whose relationship to Pip is somewhat complicated) begins acting as Pip s teacher and Pip says

The Asian Financial Crisis Of 1997
Commonly referred to as the Asian Contagion the East Asian financial crisis of 1997 marked a time in
which multiple Asian countries fell into a recession as a result of financialization. Although the East
Asian financial crisis affected over ten countries, Thailand s economy is will first be primarily
analyzed prior to the crash because it was the first economy to fall and essentially started the crisis. In
retrospect, the complexity of the financial crisis has caused much debate on what actually started the
crisis in the first place. In order to address the various positions of the East Asian financial crisis, the
works of Charles Kindleberger, Krippner, and Dani Rodrik are analyzed and compared. While the
crisis has many components that ultimately suggest that conjoined multiple factors are potentially to
blame, these authors suggest that specific instances are the main culprit. In essence, Kindleberger
states that investor and lender speculation deemed the crisis inevitable, Krippner condemns
government policies, while Rodrik suggests that hyper globalization is to blame. In order to analyze
the causes of the financial crisis, it is imperative to first describe Thailand s economic practices prior
to 1997 chronologically. Moreover, it is important to note that the Thai government was known for
being a corrupt, notoriously unstable multi party coalitions unable to formulate (let alone implement) a
coherent macroeconomic policy. So, much of the pressure to ensure

Teen People Magazine Essay
Teen People Magazine
The Teen People, September edition, is a magazine designed to appeal to young female readers. Its
content features well known celebrities, use of bright and flashy colors, and an organized layout that
attracts an upbeat, young readership interested in high quality appearance and style. Although the
magazine s main focus may appear to insure a great fashion sense, it also concentrates on a
philosophical orientation by covering a more diverse readership that includes all colors, sizes, and
shapes of females. Teen People also expands its audience by recognizing both visual and text oriented
audiences. To appeal to the more visual oriented audience, the magazine uses exotic photography in
the advertisements for Self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, the advertisement on page sixty four of the magazine uses an angelic/fairy tale theme to
introduce Secret Deodorant to the visually stimulated audience. In the center of the page, a fairy like
woman stands in the midst of a very surreal setting with stars and a light blue sky. By using a woman
who personifies a fairy, Secret manages to connect the new brand of Secret Violet Dazzle with a
mystical theme. The bright hues of purple and the naturalistic atmosphere, once again, attract very
young viewers to the product. Secret pictures a frail, flawless female to suggest that varying types of
women may use their product and still resemble the pure and enchanting image. Thus, they
incorporate the text When you re strong, you Sparkle, to show that by using their product, one can
eliminate the fear of smelling and sparkle with confidence. The advertisement itself is very striking to
the human eye. It s busy layout and choice in colors captivates those who enjoy striking photography.
Unlike the Self Esteem and Secret Deodorant advertisements, which project a flirtatious and heavenly
attitude, Ralph Lauren s advertisement for the new scented hair collection portrays a model with a
sexually suggestive attitude. Ralph Lauren, a clothing line known for its natural yet sexy look, attracts
young females with the desire to be well known. Although the photography appears rather simple and
plain, the readers

Two Kinds of Interpretations in Amy Tan’s Short Story Two...
Often times mothers can be pushy, annoying, and a bit overbearing but in the long run they always just
want what is best for their child. Everyone wants their child to be the best, most popular and overall
number one. In Amy Tan s short story Two Kinds we see this type of fame hungry mother. The short
story is about a Chinese family who lost everything. The mother had lost her entire family full of
children except for the one in the story. With the belief you could be anything you want in America
(Tan 305) in mind the mother set off to find what her child can do. This ultimately will resort in
disappointment for both the mother and child, as they do not share the same goals throughout the short
story. My initial personal interpretation of this piece is that the mother wants to live vicariously
through her daughter. This was proven throughout the story time and time again. Through further
thought, different literary techniques, and class discussion I became aware of an alternate
interpretation of the story. This is that their are two kinds of daughters and the way the mother
daughter relationship could be. Both interpretations have many examples to support them and the
story can truly be analyzed in more then one way. The mother in the story is sensibly upset about what
has happened in the past in China. After losing everything she wanted the best for her daughter, but
could this possibly mean she wanted it for herself as well. It seems the mother might have

Voting Crisis 6 ~ The Sinking of the Maine, Yellow Journalism, and the Start of the Spanish American
War Concerning the sixth crisis involving the actions leading up to the Spanish American War, we, as
Western Homesteaders, opposed the war, as elongated conflict is a burden to the economy.
Furthermore, we do not believe that the Maine was sunk by Spanish ships, as the cause of destruction
was never identified. Moreover, the yellow journalism propaganda that was spread by New York
Newspapers led to the start of war, which in turn hurt the economy, thus we are against yellow
journalism. Therefore, during the final crisis, we voted in favor of leaders who did not support the war,

and violence on themselves and those they fight against, having no opportunity to shine compassion
on one another. War kills innocent lives and tears apart families leaving only the feeling of hate, anger,
and grief. In war, soldiers are not meant to find peace or negotiation. The author portrayed the sniper

Romans mostly used their own adapted version of the Greek phalanx(more on that in Greek Strategy).
They often employed warriors from lands they had conquered to do jobs they could not, like Archers
from carthage or cavalry troops. It is often thought that Rome conquered with nothing other than
military power, but this is false. They conquered the whole italian peninsula with, not only force, but
also with diplomatic skill. Now we will discuss Greek Military Strategy and Discipline. Greek
Military Strategy, as I mentioned in Roman strategy, was much easier to research and will be longer.
But, Greek Discipline was more difficult to find. Greek Military Discipline was basic, at the least.
More so in early times because most of the fighting was done by heroes. After Greece entered the dark
ages, it changed to warfare fought by armies from the city states. The Greek armies were obviously
disciplined enough to obey their commanders, but the Greek s Military Discipline was nothing
compared to Rome s. Greek Strategy is a much deeper subject than Roman Strategy. To start off Greek
Strategy, we will discuss naval Tactics. The Greeks used Triremes with Bronze battering rams

The American Dream In The Era Of The American Dream
The American Dream is the opportunity for success, and the ability to achieve prosperity and a better
life for yourself, and your family. Literature through American history has changed multiple times
each one defining a new standard and covering new ideas. The time period of the Romanticism Era
covered through the 1830s 70s, which brought new values to literature and art, other examples were
transcendentalism and Anti transcendentalism, which were opposites one featuring nature and the
other showed more dark tones. These eras affected the American dream changing the standards of
american literature and bring forth new forms of thinking. The Romanticism Era was during the time
of the industrial revolution and the abolishment movement, during this era literature stressed thought
over reason, using your imagination, and the human experience as a whole. In the poem The Tide
Rises, The Tide Falls by Henry Longfellow he writes The little waves, with their soft, white
hands,/Efface the footprints in the sands,/
And the tide rises the tide falls (8 10). Longfellow depicts an image of waves moving through the sand
as they wash away the footprints in the sands. Longfellow takes time to think about the small things
which was an ideal during that era. Another example is by Longfellow was in his sonnet The Cross of
Snow he phrases that Displays a cross of snow upon its side./ Such is the cross I wear upon my breast/

Essay on Internal and External Conflict in Hamlet
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare conflict plays a very significant role. The play s main
protagonist, Hamlet, possesses both internal and external conflict due to the fact that he is fighting his
inner conscience and suppressing his inner emotions, and he is seeking revenge on and conflicting
with many other characters in the play. These internal and external conflicts this character is
experiencing affect those around him. They also shape the events that occur in the drama and
contribute to the overall outcome. Hamlet experiences a tremendous amount of internal conflict
throughout the play. He is constantly debating whether or not he should face his troubles. This sense
of uncertainty comes from a lack of self confidence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He fights his gut feelings and suppresses his emotions until he misses his chances which he then hates
himself for doing. These feelings of uncertainty stem from another inner conflict he is experiencing
which has to do with how angry he really feels about his father s death, and how his mother marries
the man who Hamlet believes to have killed him. As a result of all of these inner conflicts, Hamlet
shuts out the people who love him, and shuts out all feelings of love. An example of this is how
Hamlet treats Ophelia. Hamlet really adores Ophelia, but the internal conflict he is experiencing has
left him feeling lost and frustrated causing him to take out his anger on her. The external conflicts
Hamlet experiences are a direct result of the conflict he feels within himself. Many external conflicts
occur in this play. However, the main conflict is between Hamlet and Claudius. Hamlets anger
towards Claudius is being driven by his intense emotions and anxiety in the event of losing his father.
Hamlet believes Claudius has taken everything from him, and he is on a mission to get revenge.
Claudius is being driven by two things, his naturally cynical and greedy nature, and his thirst for
power. These are what drive him to great lengths to ensure Hamlet never gets his way. Hamlet on the
other hand, is the exact opposite of Claudius in every other aspect except one. Hamlet, like Claudius
possesses the ability to be cold and calculative. Both characters can

When Lenin returns to Russia on 3rd April 1917 he announces what is known as the April Theses .
Lenin s programme was summed up in the words Peace, Bread and Land . Lenin promised the people
these things to get them on his side and to appeal to soldiers, workers and peasants. Lenin guaranteed
them these things to introduce his party and to encourage them to side with him rather than the
provisional government.
The long term affects of this were that once in power Lenin would have to keep his promise to the

Lenin and Trotsky formed the Red Guard and set up the Military Revolutionary Committee which

the Winter Palace but, almost everybody had lost faith in the provisional government and its leader
Korensky had already evacuated the capital. Initially the effects of this were that the Bolsheviks came
into power, the long term effects were they remained in power for most of the century.

Kant and Priori Synthetic Truths
Transcendental aesthetic deals with objects that can be perceived only as far as the mind can perceive
it, the mind can only know of those things that we are capable of sensing and feeling. A synthetic
judgment is one that connects the concept of B and A, but is not contained within each other. Synthetic
truths are those that that are true by virtue of empirical a fact that is to say that its meanings and truths
are determined by intuitions which can be representations of something that we hold in our mind.
Synthetic a priori truths are necessarily true and underdetermined by sensory impressions, its truths
are not determined by truth functional factors alone, and these truths are based on intuition. Synthetic
priori knowledge occurs when our mind organizes experiences so that they become necessary and
universal facts of our experience, since we don t experience causation this is how the mind
distinguishes between events, it helps us gain knowledge about the world. A priori judgments are those
that actually exist in the sciences and along with pure a priori judgments in mathematics. A priori
knowledge is that which is independent of experience like mathematics. A priori knowledge is known
through reason and through an understanding of how something works instead of observing it. Two
types of a priori cognition are space and time. This type of cognition is from transcendental aesthetic
because it deals with receptivity and how objects can actually be perceived; it is what is

Roone Arledge s Monday Night Football
During the fall, regardless of who is playing, Monday Night Football is my favorite time of the week.
My roommates and I order a pizza, have a few beers, and listen to Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico s
commentary. Monday Night Football is great because it is something that enables my roommates and I
to get through Mondays. ESPN is also a program that is always on in my house. It s usually being
played in the background but when live sporting events are being broadcasted, my roommates and I
can usually be found watching it. When trying to figure out what to write about in regard to this paper,
I decided that I would be very interested in expounding upon the man most responsible for the
creation of Monday Night Football and ESPN. Without Roone Arledge, ... Show more content on

Instead of the traditional two man broadcasting team , Davies says, Arledge decided to put three men
in the booth (Davies, 2012). Together the three man team of Howard Cosell, Don Meredith, and Frank
Gifford brought contrasting styles and personalities (Davies, 2012) to the broadcast booth. The
contrasting styles of Meredith and Cosell especially delighted viewers because of their off kilter banter
and one upmanship. Cosell was especially electrifying because he was not afraid to speak his mind
and criticize players for mistakes and poor decisions. The combination of Arledge s innovations and
the commentary from the broadcast booth led to Monday Night Football becoming a national
institution and one of the most profitable and longest running programs in television history (Davies,

Social Responsibility In Greek Theatre
Throughout the different eras of theatre, the Greek, Roman, Medieval, Commedia, and Shakespearean
performers all contributed to the culture of the societies of they were in. However, the level of social
responsibility that was prevalent in these eras was dependent on whether or not government promoted
theatre as a means of enlightening the general public. As a result, the manner in which theatre was
presented contributed to the evolution of the particular society either positively or negatively. During
the era of Greek theatre, which lasted from 550 B.C. to 220 B.C., government, art, education, science,
and medicine were all viewed as equally important. Akropolis, which was the center of government
and thought, espoused the ideals of empowerment and making one s self and society better. Plays that
were performed made people ask questions in order to push society forward, and the government
created theatre in this era so that it can be critiqued. The Festival of Dionysus, which was a weeks
long festival, featured various artists from different fields showcasing their talents, including theatre
performances that ran all day. At the same time, love making and drinking was encouraged (Dionysus
is the god of wine and fertility) as a means of opening up one s state of mind. At the performances of
these plays, actors wore masks, which indicated the type of character they were, and the masks had
attachments so that people could hear what they were saying, but there was also a

Gender Role Portrayal In Disney Princess Films
Title
Beyond the Prince: A Study of Gender Role Portrayal in Disney Princess Films
Introduction
This study will examine princess films and decide whether color of the princesses has an effect on the
gender role portrayal of each character. By using a content analysis, this research will identify the
difference in each princess with respect to their color.
It is important to identify the role the Disney Corporation plays in today s culture. The company has
numerous princesses films with identical merchandise. Parents buy the items for their children and
through movie and merchandise; children are being informed such as how a lady ought to act, think or
dress. Gender role in Disney princess films remains important because of the messages it shows to
children. We need to identify whether gender roles presented in the movies modulate the intellect of a
woman in a modern world or whether Disney princesses are restricted to the female gender roles such
as nurturing and submissiveness. In addition, we need to study whether the messages are diverse for
varied princesses.
Thesis Statement

gender roles in Disney Princess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, children learn roles through outside experiences that show how others or their
favourite character does a particular task. The social construction perspective helps us understand how
these roles are created. Berger and Luckmann in The Social Construction of Reality (1966), examined
how the social world is constructed. This theory lays a groundwork for understanding specific social
constructions including gender and race representations in the media. From this perspective the
children are limited in their capabilities to act because the objective reality predetermines the actions

A New Day Of A New Year s Day
New Year s Day/ New Year s Eve Happy New Year Everyone! As we go into 2018, we look to new
horizons and opportunities. The best time to start a new beginning is now. Here in the U.S. we pop the
champagne and watch the ball drop; whereas, in England, the first guest after the New Year brings
good fortune. The English custom for welcoming New Year is full of hospitality and warmth. They
believe that the first guest for the year would bring fortune for them. He should be a male, should
enter through the front door and bear some traditional gifts like loaf for the kitchen, drink for the head
of the family and coal to light the fire, otherwise, he is not allowed. They believe that these bring good
luck throughout the year. Martyr s Day Panama Today is a day of grieving for our fellow co workers
in Panama. The Association of Diplomatic Studies and Training defines Martyr s Day as On January
9,1964, grievances between native Panamanians and Zonians , or Americans residing within the U.S.
controlled Canal Zone, boiled over into a series of anti American riots which resulted in an evacuation
of the U.S. embassy in Panama City, widespread looting, and dozens of deaths. Most importantly, this
uprising honored annually in Panama as Martyr s Day eventually led to a renegotiation of the original
1903 treaty and is commonly remembered as the beginning of the end of American hegemony over the
Panama Canal Zone. Today we remember the lives lost on this day. Martin Luther King

  • 2. The Four Noble Truths In Buddhism The Four Noble Truths are the four central beliefs containing the essence of Buddhist teachings. Buddhism is a major global religion with a complex history and system of beliefs. What is suffering? Suffering is, the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. Suffering exists; it has a cause, but it also has an end; and it has a cause which brings about its end. The notion of suffering is not intended to convey a negative world view, but instead a perspective that deals with the world as it is, and attempts to rectify it. The four noble truths are a plan for dealing with the suffering humanity faces, which is suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature. These four noble truths consist of the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path of that leads to the end of suffering. Buddha had learned that all people have one thing in common: if they think about their own life, or look at the world around them, they will see that life is full of suffering. The first noble truth is the truth of suffering, which is also called Dukkha. Buddha had said that suffering may be physical or mental. Suffering includes when someone is suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death are all unavoidable, it is something that comes with life. Physical suffering can come in many forms, but it is part of us as human to endure the suffering. As we become older all of us find that life can become more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Apple s Impact On The Computer Industry Executive Summary Apple has been the leading force in innovation for the past couple of years, not only does it dominate the mobile phone industry, it has also transformed the computer industry too. With millions of people using their products today, Apple is one of the most successful companies in the world. However, Apple did not come all this way from nothing. It suffered ups and downs just like any other company, with this being said, the way Apple dealt with its problems was the difference between it and any other company. Apple is strong today because of the way that it was built by its co founder Steve jobs. In this hospital, the smell of the sterile hair fills everyone s nose as the nurse s bustle about, tending to their patients. Then, the wail a newborn baby rings out through the silent maternity ward halls; I have been born. Fast forward almost 21 years into the future. My name is Deanna Mix and I was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Aneta and Gary Mix. Five years later, my parents had my younger and only sibling, Samantha. I spent the first 11 years of my childhood in Tennessee, a state I truly love and intend on moving back to the fall season to continue my education in International Relations. In Tennessee, we lived with my babcia and dziadek, which is Polish for grandma and grandpa. Since my mother and her side of the family moved to America from Poland, I grew up in a bilingual family, and I was able to learn a second language fairly early in life. That being said, according to many psychological studies, learning a second language early greatly helps a child s cognitive development (http://tip.duke.edu/node/866). Soon after my 11th birthday, I moved to Belleview, Florida were I still currently reside. Shortly after we moved, my parents went their separate ways, with both of them eventually remarrying. The Wire showed how good the resources were at the Baltimore police station. The movie showed how the media turned the murder case into a drug case. When the media got involved the police chief made a new drug task force to fix the problem. This drug task force was made of people in different departments of the Baltimore police. It shows how the Baltimore police force can spare people for a new program. When this drug force started to get information about the suspect the head chief funded the program. With the funds, the drug force got more cars, vans, and listening devices to help them get the suspects faster. When the drug force got enough information for a bust, the police force spared manpower and vehicles so they can get the suspect. Across America, there are a lot of small towns that make up this country. Within small townships there are police forces that only have five to ten officers that patrol acres of woods or farm land. On a daily basis these officers deal with minor crime like drugs, aggravated assault, burglary, and property crimes. If a crime happens it can take about twenty minutes for the township police to get there or it can at the state police up to an hour to get to the scene of the crime. Roundness In No Name Woman Patriarchy as Represented by the Symbol of Roundness in Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name Woman In the short story No Name Woman, Kingston pushes the motif of roundness pass its traditional connotations of family, union, and fulfilment, and through it explores Chinese feudal traditions as a tool of suppression for women, and the erased narrative of her aunt s fatal transgressions. Roundness features heavily in Chinese cultural iconography, in round mooncakes, round doorways, round windows, and round rice bowls, of the Chinese (Kingston 13). Its associations with perfection, harmony, and familial values serve as a reminder of the law: the family must whole, faithfully keeping the descent line by having sons to feed the old and the dead, who in turn look after the family (13). In other words, roundness is the status quo, which bears particularly harshly on women in hard times, when to be woman, to have a daughter in starvation time was waste enough (6). ... The Asian Financial Crisis Of 1997 Commonly referred to as the Asian Contagion the East Asian financial crisis of 1997 marked a time in which multiple Asian countries fell into a recession as a result of financialization. Although the East Asian financial crisis affected over ten countries, Thailand s economy is will first be primarily analyzed prior to the crash because it was the first economy to fall and essentially started the crisis. In retrospect, the complexity of the financial crisis has caused much debate on what actually started the crisis in the first place. In order to address the various positions of the East Asian financial crisis, the works of Charles Kindleberger, Krippner, and Dani Rodrik are analyzed and compared. While the crisis has many components that ultimately suggest that conjoined multiple factors are potentially to blame, these authors suggest that specific instances are the main culprit. In essence, Kindleberger states that investor and lender speculation deemed the crisis inevitable, Krippner condemns government policies, while Rodrik suggests that hyper globalization is to blame. In order to analyze the causes of the financial crisis, it is imperative to first describe Thailand s economic practices prior to 1997 chronologically. Moreover, it is important to note that the Thai government was known for being a corrupt, notoriously unstable multi party coalitions unable to formulate (let alone implement) a coherent macroeconomic policy. • 33. Two Kinds of Interpretations in Amy Tan’s Short Story Two... Often times mothers can be pushy, annoying, and a bit overbearing but in the long run they always just want what is best for their child. Everyone wants their child to be the best, most popular and overall number one. In Amy Tan s short story Two Kinds we see this type of fame hungry mother. The short story is about a Chinese family who lost everything. The mother had lost her entire family full of children except for the one in the story. With the belief you could be anything you want in America (Tan 305) in mind the mother set off to find what her child can do. This ultimately will resort in disappointment for both the mother and child, as they do not share the same goals throughout the short story. My initial personal interpretation of this piece is that the mother wants to live vicariously through her daughter. This was proven throughout the story time and time again. Through further thought, different literary techniques, and class discussion I became aware of an alternate interpretation of the story. This is that their are two kinds of daughters and the way the mother daughter relationship could be. Both interpretations have many examples to support them and the story can truly be analyzed in more then one way. The mother in the story is sensibly upset about what has happened in the past in China. After losing everything she wanted the best for her daughter, but could this possibly mean she wanted it for herself as well. It seems the mother might have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
