Holden Caulfield Satire
J.D. Salinger s opinion of the world in The Catcher in the Rye shows both his hatred and fascination
for the ingenuine nature of society. Throughout the novel Holden Caufield is conflicted between
commenting on the phoniness of things around him, a heading under which he loosely lumps not only
insincerity but snobbery, injustice, callousness to the tears in things, and a lot more, (Behrman) and
the impulsive, self loathing mentality he portrays. Salinger utilizes many aspects of his own life and
displays them in the fluctuating character of Holden Caufield, showing his conflicted opinion on
society. At times, he expresses his self hatred towards the condescending attitude of the actions he
himself makes. The Catcher in the Rye s purpose is to prevent all the teenage angst and self loathing
by saving them from corruption. Salinger utilizes this symbol to show the longing for innocence
within the corrupt adults and a feeling of obligation to protect and preserve their pureness. The symbol
of the catcher and the rye first is mentioned when Holden hears little kids singing if a body catch a
body coming through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
D. Salinger s personal life had a direct correlation with his support for the Catcher in the Rye s role.
His first marriage resulted in a divorce, with the ex wife reporting that if the relationship continued it
would seriously injure her health and endanger her reason (Biography.com). All those who had been
closely attributed to him have all reported negative accounts on him. Not only did he have unpleasant
encounters with others but he had also suffered from great trauma from serving in the military. This
may explain where all the angst and condescending mentality of Holden Caufield derived from. The
state of mind is what causes the longingness he feels for innocence and the need for there to be a
catcher in society. Because of this, he feels the need to be the Catcher in the Rye even though he
knows the role of it is almost impossible to

Different Theories And Models Of Care Used At The Atherton...
Rural and remote Australia refers to those areas outside of major cities and are made up of many
diverse towns including pastoral, farming, mining, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
communities. The Atherton Tablelands, a highland region of northern Australia near Cairns, is
classified as a rural and remote area. This essay will provide a profile on Atherton including the
demographical, geographical, environmental, and cultural features as well as how these factors impact
on the health of individuals within the community. It will all discuss the various theories and models
of care used at the Atherton Hospital, the role of the registered nurse and the multidisciplinary team.
The specific knowledge and clinical skills required for registered nurses will also be outlined, as well
as examples of how these skills could be demonstrated.
Atherton is a town located within the Tablelands Region in Far North Queensland, 90 kms south west
of Cairns. The Atherton Tablelands is known for its mild climate with temperatures ranging from 5°C
to 25°C (Local Tourism Network, 2016). In 2014 the population in Atherton was approximately
10,886 with 5,117 males and 5,769 females, and an increasingly aging population trend (Australian

Roanoke Colony Dbq
For hundreds of years the story of The Lost Colony has been told to children for
generations.Contrastly, as time trickles by we find out more information about the Lost Colony . Most
people believe that Roanoke were killed by the Spanish. However, because of recent discoveries.
Roanoke must have been forced to relocate because of a drought in route to Chowan River and
intermarried with Native Americans because of these new revelations.
During, Roanoke and Jamestown there seemed to have been a drought that became problematic to the
colony (Document H). Without, water it becomes difficult to produce crops and have maintain
drinking water. This left Roanoke in a bad predicament so, they had no choice but to relocate. The tree
rings discovered in 1998 provides valid proof that the drought happened from 1587 1589.
John White returned back to Roanoke in 1590 after leaving his daughter, Eleanor Dare, and
granddaughter, Virginia Dare in North Carolina. Accordingly, to White s journal the colony was no
longer present and it seemed that the house has been taken down, no sailing boats, and the words

Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela believes Education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the world. Mandela belief that education can change the world is still a
dream. Education can prove to tackle the current issues across the world. Great leaders like Nelson
Mandela, Gandhi
Martin Luther King have always stressed on this matter. Education can help people
Improve their social economic standards by creating more job opportunities. Give a
Man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. The above
proverb clearly sums up what knowledge can help people achieve. I believe that if all people has an
education, they have a knowledge and understanding of what is happening to the world, they knew
what is the advantages and disadvantages of the decision they make, they will have a self discipline
and concern to others and the results of this we will have a wonderful world to live with.
To quote Nelson Mandela, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, Education is the knowledge and development
resulting from an educational process. It also prepares one for the ability of reasoning and judging,
readying one to face the world . It s the foundation of developing one s mind and intellectual

Best Buy Co, Inc.

Overview
Best Buy operates as one of the largest electronic consumer outlets in the United States. While Best
Buy is internationally known for selling a large variety of electronics, it also sells home office
products, appliances, and entertainment products. Best Buy chains are located predominantly in the
United States, Canada, Europe, and China. Since Best Buy s success is strongly dependable on the
consumer, its main goal is to do whatever it can, within reason, in order to make its customers fully
satisfied.
Its vision is centered around the People, technology, and the pursuit of happiness. As a corporation, its

With a market capitalization of over $10 billion, Best Buy is the dominant player in this industry.
Competition in this industry is high primarily because there is little to no switching costs if a buyer
chooses to shop somewhere else. Likewise, products are not set apart: buyers can get comparable
products at almost all of the different electronic stores. As a result, companies like Best Buy have to
compete on prices and non tangibles, such as customer service and friendliness.
The threat of potential new entrants into the consumer electronics retail industry is relatively low. Best
Buy has forged a reputation for selling mid to high end product and excellent customer service. It
would be difficult for an entrant to challenge the company. Furthermore, it would be difficult to
undercut incumbent firms who have already established relationships with suppliers to purchase
merchandize at the lowest prices.
The substitute products, that may take a portion of the market share away from the consumer
electronics retail industry, do not create a huge or direct hazard. Today s society and culture place a
big emphasis on technology and it is highly reliant on electronics. The bargaining power of buyers for
electronic products is extremely low because the buyers primarily consist of a weak and divided group
of individuals, and technology has became a vital need for most people.
The suppliers for companies in the market have

Australian Human Rights
Currently the Australian Constitution identifies five explicit human rights which every Australian is
entitled to. Section 51 (xxxi) expresses that property can only be taken from a State or person by the
Commonwealth on just terms. Section 80 details that everyone has a right to a fair trial by a jury and
section 116 implies freedom of religion in that no laws are to be made in order to define or prohibit
any religion (Findlaw Australia, 2016). Section 41 of the Australian Constitution gives citizens the
right to vote by stating that no person should be prevented from voting for representatives in the
House of the Parliament of the Commonwealth (Commonwealth Consolidated Acts, unkown). Section
117 conveys that no Australian from one State ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Common law is set by precedents and customs that have been developed over lengthy periods of time
rather that statutes. It allows judges to interpret current legislation which allows for flexibility when
difficult and unique cases arise. When precedents are set a common law is created, for example the
unique case of Kevin and Jennifer v Attorney General (2001). This case was the first in Australia to
deal with the topic of transexuatal marriage. It followed the example of the United Kingdom s Corbett
v Corbett (1971) case which defined what it was to be female or male (Oxford University Press,
2003). The Australian courts decision to allow Kevin, a transextual man, to marry meant that any
future transexual people who wished to do the same were permitted by common law. Although
common law is set by magistrates, the Commonwealth Government is able to expand or reduce
common law as they see necessary (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2015). Important human
rights are protected by common law including the presumption of innocence and the right to sue for
false imprisonment (Australian Human Rights Commision, 2009). Common law is not a solidly
structured form of human rights protection although it does allow flexibility within court cases while
the ability for the government to alter common law provides further assurance in that no common law
can not be altered. Issues may also arise from allowing the government to possess this power because
while Australia is a democracy, voters may not consider human rights as an important issue when
choosing who they would like to govern

The parallel continues in regards to the presentation of evidence. In modern child abuse cases,
authorities historically tended to believe what children said because they did not want to believe that
they could make up such harsh accusations. However, this blind faith in a child s testimony has
recently been challenged as children have been increasingly educated on the warning signs of abuse
and are, therefore, more capable of making fake accusations. Much the same, the authorities in Salem
did not want to believe the girls could make up such severe claims of witchcraft, even though they had
been increasingly made aware of the folklore and, therefore, able to fake the symptoms. It has also
been noted that the girls supposed fits, if not truly choreographed and acted out, could have been the
result of asthma or even epilepsy. Asthma can be caused by stress, changes in room temperature, or
the presence of mold. However, attacks can also occur randomly without warning. Therefore, when
they do occur, it will look as though the person experiencing the attack is in critical condition. It has
been concluded that, If asthma played a part, it is not surprising that the girls attacks of choking were
common indoors, in damp and moldy houses, and in the evening, when fires were stoked, rooms
became smoky, and temperatures increased. Furthermore, asthma is most

Essay on To what Extent the Progressive Movement was...
In the beginning of the twentieth century, the economy was booming, new technology flourished. The
rapid industrialization brought achievement to the United States, however, it also caused several social
problems. Wealth and power were concentrated in the hands of a few, and poverty and political
corruption were widespread. As people became aware of these problems, a new reform group was
created. Unlike populism, which had been a group of farmers grown desperate as the economy
submerged into depression, the new reform movement arose from the educated middle class. These
people were known as the progressives. The Progressive Movement was a movement that aimed at
solving political, economic, and social problems. The Progressives were people ... Show more content

The better the education a person has, the more successful they will be. Even having a basic education
can bring you far. If people didn?t take education seriously, the country would not be the country we
would be today. We would have corruption throughout the nation and our technology would be
outdated. We would have not had any advances in medicines or cures to many of the diseases that are
curable today. The stability in the government would not be balanced, and the economy would sink
into depression. Everything considered the country would be in turmoil and misery.
Back in the 1900?s, the food was not the healthiest or cleanest you would see nowadays. From Upton
Sinclair?s book entitled ?The Jungle? written in the 1906, had called the nation?s concentration to
abuses by the meat packing industry. Sinclair disguised himself as a worker in a Chicago meat packing
plant to observe harmful and unsanitary practices. In the factory, to kill rats, Sinclair wrote, ?the
packers would put poisoned bread out for them, they would die, and then rats, bread, and meat would
go into the hoppers together.? Hence, that would be the meat made for the public to eat. Many people
did not consider that the meat industries actually did this, for example, former President Roosevelt
doubted Sinclair?s viewpoints, and however, he ordered an investigation of meatpacking practices.
The investigation report shocked him that he demanded more health and sanitary laws. In June 1906,

The Tenet Of Guerilla Warfare
The first tenet of guerilla warfare is to disregard the strategies that typically define conflicts.
Disposing of these tactics, and thinking in a lateral direction, can afford a tactical advantage over a
more cumbersome and habitual foe. This competitive advantage can often mean the difference
between victory and defeat, and can be necessary to establish dominance within the area of conflict.
Jay Conrad Levinson (2007) was the first to directly apply these concepts to the business world with a
method of promotion he publicized in 1984 as guerilla marketing. Strategists Ries and Trout (1986)
quickly followed with their push to embrace analogies between the marketing and military world, and
subsequently the marketing warfare strategies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Benefits to Small Business The Bolton Committee (1971) sought to define small enterprise by the
following criteria: they own a small market share, are managed by owners or co owners and operate
independently of any large firm (as cited in Bach, 2007, p.15). Bach (2007) concluded that, in an
effort to survive against the influence of larger businesses with their expanded budgets and reach,
these small businesses must rely on their ability to innovate and segment the market. These enterprises
are critical for employing workers across the job market and further spurning competitiveness (Bach,
2007). Gruber (2004) noted that, in addition to limited financial resources, small and new businesses
are often restricted by the uncertainty of market predictability and marketing planning. Doyle s
research surmised that due to these externalities the process of building credibility and establishing
competitive advantage regarded as one of the most important determinants in early success could most
effectively be achieved through unconventional means (as cited in Gruber, 2004, p.188). This entirely
different approach, in which large ad budgets don t exist, has numerous benefits.

There Will Come Soft Rains
Rain s Bitter Touch
The year is 2026 there is not a soul to be seen. In Ray Bradbury s short story There Will Come Soft
Rains. The clock is always ticking but is never heard. It is a dreary day filled with a steady drizzle of
rain. All the humans are gone ,but life still goes on. The rain is slowly destroying the house. The only
occupant is the lonesome dog. Since the house is not tended to it is slowly fading. Machine is still
prospering ,even though man has fallen to itself.
There has been a nuclear holocaust that has stricken life from the world. While the house still stands
humanity has fallen. All throughout the day the rain is constant and unyielding. A rainy day can
depress anyone. When there is no one to see the rain, what is it then? It is just flat out lifelessness. The
recurrence in this story is the rain. And the rain tapped on the empty house, echoing. (pg.323)This is
the motif of the story. It would seem that time is a motif here. In some ways it is but, time is a motif in

In some other cases locating near other hospitals as discussed earlier helps in the reduction of
transport cost. So with this factor one must weigh the benefits of locating away from other hospitals
versus locating near other hospitals. b. The physical facility in terms of building is an important aspect
in consideration of the location of a hospital. Depending on the kind of services the hospital wants to
provide the building facilities must be conducive enough to accommodate the equipment to be used in
the providing of those services. This will greatly impact the quality of services provided by the
hospital that will help in the acquiring of larger market share and optimize profits. c. The geography
and demographic of the hospital s location may plays an important role in market share and profit
optimization. The hospital industry is highly regulated and as such is vulnerable to government
reimbursement. For this reason, a highly profit hospital will likely have a growing pool of
commercially insured patients. So a hospital may rather locate itself in neighborhoods of high income
earners because they are the ones who are likely to have both the money and the insurance to pay the
medical bills. This will greatly help in profit optimization because this will mean less patients
receiving services on credit but rather more patients paying cash

Summary Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge By Ambrose...
Born in 1842, Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce was an American Civil War soldier and topographer, clever
journalist and profound writer. Throughout his writing career, Bierce earned the nickname, Bitter
Bierce because of his satirical wittiness and humor. Today, he is well known for his short story, An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and his satirical lexicon, The Devil s Dictionary, which originally
appeared under the title The Cynic s Word Book. Considered as one of the major authors of the Civil
War genre, Bierce s writings reflect his knowledge of military strategy and life, which gives every
reader an intense understanding of the context of his stories rather than the glory and fame of war.
Later on, Bierce became an influential writer on the west coast as he worked for the San Francisco
Examiner after the war ended. Along with war and ghost stories, Bierce published several volumes of
poetry. In 1914, Ambrose traveled to Mexico during its Revolutionary War to observe but
unfortunately disappeared without a trace.
William Conlogue wrote an excellent article, Beating the Bounds with Ambrose Bierce, or Learning to
Read without Getting Shot, which is an interpretation of Bierce s most popular literary work, An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and how Bierce s life as a soldier and topographer influences his
writing. Conlogue compares Bierce s topographer background to the way he writes his stories.
Whether it is from Bierce s one point perspective principles in his short

Fate In Mordred
The idea that fate is inevitable manifests itself throughout the arthurian legend I am mordred. The
question of changing fate prevails as an underlying theme in the book. Characters lives and choices
revolve around the idea of their predetermined destiny. It proves difficult to decide whether fate is
escapable or not.
From the beginning of the book Mordred s fate plays a key factor in characters actions. The king s
advisor Merlin prophesied Mordred to kill his father, King Arthur, when he is the age of seventeen.
When the prologue starts King Arthur is sacrificing all the male babies in the kingdom who were born
on May Day including Mordred. This will supposedly change the fate they are both destined to
according to his advisor Merlin. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sought help from Arthur to stop him from feeling this way. A harper told him he must give his soul
to someone he trust and Arthur agreed to keep it. During the ceremony of Mordred s soul leaving his
body his soul entered the body of a raven which prevented King Arthur from keeping it. From that
point on Mordred kept his human form, but no longer felt anything. He didn t struggle with trying not
to escape his fate or feeling sad about all the people he hurt or will eventually hurt. He felt nothing. By
the time Mordred was twenty seven he had the opportunity to try to take the crown which led to a
battle. During the battle Mordred was killed, his physical form anyways, and King Arthur was injured.
As King Arthur was healing a Raven came to him, and the Raven was mordred. Mordred did not kill
Arthur as was prophesied and Mordred did not truly die. Which means the fate his whole life revolved

Why Hinduism Should Be Considered a World Religion
Introduction
Religion in the world today mostly depend on the number of adherents and the rate of at which they
increase in the world. While considering the statistics, studies indicate that Islam is the fastest growing
religion in the world and with a projection that by the year 2050, its popularity shall have increased
more than any other religion in the world. Alongside Islam is the Hinduism, religion which is also
projected to have a faster growth rate and according to research in 2011(Gerald 20), it had grown in
various countries mainly due to migration from India. The growth rate of Hinduism is projected at two
percent annually when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike other religions across the world, Hinduism does not have a specific way of worship, or a god
and scriptures to be used. The religion that is considered to be the oldest has an array of beliefs and
practices within it, and therefore many have always referred to it as a family religion or a way of life.
In the recent years, it has been established that there is a way in conformation to an almost similarity
among the Hindus, and a larger population now consider a sacred text known as Veda and have a
shared system of values known as dharma.
Religion can be characterized by the existence of belief and faith that something is acceptable and
should be practiced without questioning or confirmation. In the Hindu religion, it can be confirmed
that the way many things are characterized and the belief in the consequences of a person s conduct
can be categorically defined as faith. For instance, in Hindu, there is a belief that the individual soul is
not created, but it has been in existence and will continue to exist. Just like in other religions whereby
the actions of a person reaps the consequences in the next phase of life, Hindus, however, believe that
the souls will one day comeback to life in a different form, which utterly depends on the consequences
of its actions before the rebirth. The kind of body that the soul will inhabit after that is determined by
Karma, which is a term used to refer to actions

The Museum s Main Purpose Essay
The museum s main purpose is not only to educate the public about American Indians, but also to
deconstruct stereotypes and give tribal members something along the lines of a safe place where they
are welcome to embrace their ethnicity. One factor that showcases the information I previously stated
is the fact that tribal members have free admission into the museum. Another way the museum salutes
the ethnicity of American Indians is by commemorating Native individuals alive today. Names of
famous Native Americans are displayed along with their contributions to the ethnic group. One of the
people displayed is Sarah Deer, who is a professor and lawyer that fought for Tribal Jurisdiction. Upon
arrival, I was informed that the museum is divided by Tribe and the regions in which each tribe was
located. The museum is divided into Alaska/Canada, Northwest Coast, Southwest, Plains, and
Woodlands. The reason I think it is divided this way is so that every person who visits has the ability
to learn about each region of tribes separately. It is easy to make assumptions that Native Americans
were all the same, but the truth is that they are all unique. Each tribe has their own customs, clothing,
food, and ways of life. The Alaska/Canada region includes tribes like the Athapaskan, Inuit, Cree,
Chipewyan, Ojibwe, Naskapi, and the Montagnais. Because these tribes had to deal with an extremely
harsh environment, they adapted by utilizing animals and tools to help them survive. Their

Religion And The Role Of Religion In Contemporary Society
Religion in the beginning started as a basis for an understanding of why things came to be, why the
world was created and a reason why humanity was created ( the way things are and why they are)
since science isn t as evolved as it is now, they had created reasonings or an understanding of why
things are the way they are and what it means. But in contemporary society, religion is used as an
escape for reality, making people feel good about themselves and used as a form of understanding.
Many governments and different civilisations use it as a basis for their laws (why gays can t marry),
although within contemporary society this use of religion affecting the mindset of the population has
been heavily criticized. Religion throughout the world creates a clear distinction between different
cultures as they believe in different morals and ethics. With these distinguishable characteristics many
religions suffer as persons from different cultural backgrounds and religion criticize their conflicting
views with another. The very first religion created was believed to be the egyptian. This religion was a
mixture of polytheistic beliefs, which are the belief of multiple gods, and rituals which were an
important part of the ancient Egyptian society. It heavily focuses on the Egyptians interaction of
multiple deities who were believed to be present in, and in control of, the forces and elements of
nature. These deities were believed to be in control of science, mythology, medicine,

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is a television series which follows the story of a disease causing infection that
caused the Earth to be dominated by a zombie apocalypse. A group of survivors gets forced to fight for
their lives against man/eating zombies. The main character in the show is Rick Grimes, a Sheriff
Deputy who had been shot prior to the apocalypse event. Rick was later taken to a local hospital
before the zombie epidemic. Rick awakens from a coma in which he finds himself in a hospital alone.
He noticed that he is in a world that is different than anything he has ever seen before. Throughout the
series Rick shows authority, and strength which shows his machismo over the group. The series
exemplifies how masculinity, femininity, and values are represented in the relationships of the
surviving characters and how these individualities are especially inflated throughout the show. In the
first few episodes of the Walking Dead series you see the relationships between a few survivors, and
how they ethically help each other overcome the adversities in the zombie prophetic world. As Rick
and his group travel through a series of terrains they are forced to make serious decisions in which
impact everyone in the group, especially, those whom Rick feel an obligation to lead (masculinity
role). As a group they have a strong positive moral direction, even though masculinity (independent,

Social Media Impact On Body Image
The Impact of Social Media on Body Image As technology editing tools have become even more
prevalent, many feel the need to excessively use photoshop before they share an image online. In a
pervasive world where images of unrealistic standards fuel the media on how one should look, social
media has one of the most significant impacts on body dissatisfaction. Throughout the last decade,
social media has become one of the most common and favored ways for people to communicate,
connect, and share. Thus, there have been many debates and discussions on whether the media has a
positive or a negative impact on the way an individual perceives him or herself. As the rapid growth of
smartphone usage among adolescents and adults has increased, social media has become an essential
part of one s daily life. In today s society, when most adolescents and adults turn on their smartphones,
often times, the first thing they will refer to is a social media site. It has become a place where they are
exposed to news, images, and expectations. Often times, these images, ideals, and expectations are
ingrained in their brain and bombarded with what is considered to be beautiful. Moreover, these
unrealistic standards will often lead to a form of comparison, influencing them to take extreme
measures. Although social media serves as a platform where people can connect, communicate, and
share, it has a negative impact on one s body image, because it can lead to a lack of self confidence
and severe

Essay On The Enlightenment Era
The Enlightenment era, which spanned the end of the seventeenth century through the beginning of
the nineteenth, was characterized by the idea that everything in the universe could be discovered and
understood in a rational way. Enlightenment thinkers also began to reconsider and challenge the
church by thinking of religion as congruent with science and logic. Mid nineteenth century Europe
started to transition away from this culture of intellectual prosperity. As political and social focus
drifted toward industrial development, the divide between high culture and the middle class became
more distinct. These societal changes affected attitudes about morality, culture, the arts, and science.
For example, the discussion about evolution and creation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the age of the earth was still heavily debated at the time of publication. In the early nineteenth
century, people assumed that the earth was approximately six thousand years old. Later, William
Kelvin theorized that the earth was between twenty and four hundred million years old. Because
Darwin s theory depended on the earth being more than six thousand years old, it was hard for many
people to accept it as truth. Darwin was also criticized, like Lamarck, for missing transitional fossils
that would potentially prove the gradual evolution of a species. Also like Lamarck, Darwin lacked a
specific mechanism by which traits were inherited by offspring. Unfortunately, he had not heard of
Gregor Mendel s research on genetics. Darwin speculated on pangenesis in which gemmules (tiny
hereditary particles) were emitted from all cells and were collected in the organism s reproductive
organs (Darwin). However, critics said this theory was too Lamarckian. Furthermore, Darwin s theory
of natural selection was also criticized on religious grounds. Although Origin of Species did not
explicitly challenge God s creation of man, critics were quick to read between the lines. Scientists
agreed that it was possible everything evolved from one common ancestor, but rejected the idea that
evolution was the only way that species could

Historiography The Natural
Historiography Historiography is a historical film theory that focuses on the assumptions, principles,
and methodologies of historical study (Giannetti, 528). Giannetti divides this theoretical study into
four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social. According to
American scholar, Raymond Fielding, the history of motion pictures as an art form, as a medium of
communication, and as an industry has been determined principally by technological innovations
(Giannetti, 531). With time comes much technological advancement that will allow filmmakers to
accurately portray what they want and give the audiences the intended experience. Technological
advancements have aided in the production of The Rookie and The Natural in the sense that both films
could be shown through a multitude of decadal lenses. Both films show the main characters in their
childhood and how that has shaped who they are, but it also shows them in adulthood as well. The
changes in time range from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While The Natural contains many attributes from each perspective, the analysis can best be related to
structuralism and semiology. Joseph Campbell mentions a good point while discussing the function of
mythology by saying that, one of the functions of mythology is to guide human spirit by providing
common or universal symbols that offset that darker nature of humans (Wood Pincus, 22). The Natural
most certainly follows this function with the underlying network of symbolic meaning along with its
many symbols. Each of the metaphors discussed by Wood and Pincus can relate to the points
previously mentioned in the structuralism/semiology section and their analysis includes some aspects
not previously noted that would further contribute to the underlying structure, such as the universal

A Contest Of Smiles, The Smile, And Female Actors
To Smile Or Not To Smile In a contest of smiles, who would win women or men? That answer just so
happens to be women. But why women? According to Amy Cunningham in, Why Women Smile,
women smiles are automatic (though it can be true for either sex) as they are controlled by society s
expectations. Cunningham has even experienced this herself, from her friends and even her husband.
One of her friends told her that they associate her with her smile, calling it her essence and that she
should smile more (Cunningham 369). Her husband calls her smiling face unthreatening and because
of that demeanor, people like her in a fuzzy way, despite that not being her goal (369). Not only with
firsthand experience, Cunningham also pertains details from history, scientific evidence, and culture
into her article as well. From baby reflexes to Mona Lisa s mysterious smile and female actors, she
uses her information in a way that people can accumulate some sort of connection of what she s
writing into their lives. Connecting one personal story or experience to another can make people
empathize, especially if the general target audience is towards to women as per this article. Using this,
Cunningham uses her personal connective approach and informative evidence to prove that smiles of
the womanly kind are being used too much and used wrongly. In this case, I agree with Cunningham s
point in her explanation about the reason why women really smile by how she utilizes her approach in

Essay On Sharpen My Instruments
On Thursday, September 28th my morning and afternoon patients cancelled the night before. After
making a few phone calls I was able to schedule my patient NN for the afternoon. It worked well
because her next appointment was scheduled for November 10th since that was my next Thursday
appointment on my schedule. During the morning since I did not have a patient, I decided to sharpen
my instruments because my afternoon patient had a lot of supra and subgingival calculus and I wanted
to be ready to effectively remove them all. I washed a video to refresh the basic concepts on sharping
and I was able to do a sharpen competency. Dental hygienists depend on a very sensitive tactile touch

everything organized and ready for my afternoon patient because my plan was to SRP the UR and LR
quadrants. First, I updated her medical and dental history, and took her vitals. My patient NN is 58
years old with an excellent health. Her blood pressure was 99/65, pulse: 65, and respiration: 20. After
explaining the procedure to my patient, I asked for her consent to administer anesthesia and she
agreed. For the UR and LR quadrants I used 20% benzocaine as my topic anesthesia and 2% lidocaine
(1:100,000) to infiltrate the PSA, MSA, and ASA; Dr Landry did the IA and the Long. In all of the
sites we got negative aspiration, no complications and anesthesia was achieved. I started with the
cavitron and then followed with my hand instruments; my patient had some 7 mm pockets and for
those I used the after 5 instruments. My patient was comfortable during the whole procedure, and
while we were waiting for the lower teeth to get anesthetized, I went over the flossing and the
brushing techniques. I recommended the used of interdental brushes because she has recessions and
will help her clean better the interproximal spaces. Also, I advised her to use warm water and salt

Premarital Counseling Among Christian Couples And The...
Premarital Counseling Among Christian Couples and the Effects on Divorce Rates
William Q. McCardle
Liberty University Abstract
Premarital counseling is an option that is often prompted by clergy as a positive experience to explore
the familiarities, differences, and expectations that couples hold prior to the marriage commitment.
The goal of premarital counseling is to promote discussion of difficult questions that may arise after
the nuptial vows. Examining the effects of premarital counseling among Christian couples will permit
the exploration of how it alters divorce rates. The effectiveness of premarital counseling will be
analyzed and deliberated using statistics, data, interviews, surveys, and library research. Targeted ...

Many young couples who are entering into marriage are caught up in the whirlwind of engagement
parties, wedding plans, planning a new home, and meeting new family members; often, they cease to
look beyond the present and think about the issues that may arise in the relationship during the future
(Altenhofen, 2008).
In some instances, couples are ill prepared for marriage because they do not have a relationship that
has considered and worked through any type of conflict resolution (Phegley, 2003). Clergy who are
entrusted to conduct the marriage ceremonies have a duty to assist couples in discussing and facing
the difficulties that will arise as a marriage develops (McGeorge Carlson, 2006). Lack of
communication can lead to many complications that often lead to individuals going their separate
ways in a marriage (Clinton Sibcy, 2006). Through statistical information, research, interviews, and
biblical accounts, one can determine whether premarital counseling among Christian couples has an
effect on the divorce rate. The institution of marriage is blessed and instructed by God. Hebrews 13:4
of the King James Version of the Bible, instructs that, Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed
undefiled. (Hebrews 13:4, King James Version). Whenever Christ began his ministry on Earth, he
chose members of a wedding feast to be the recipients of the

  • 2. Holden Caulfield Satire J.D. Salinger s opinion of the world in The Catcher in the Rye shows both his hatred and fascination for the ingenuine nature of society. Throughout the novel Holden Caufield is conflicted between commenting on the phoniness of things around him, a heading under which he loosely lumps not only insincerity but snobbery, injustice, callousness to the tears in things, and a lot more, (Behrman) and the impulsive, self loathing mentality he portrays. Salinger utilizes many aspects of his own life and displays them in the fluctuating character of Holden Caufield, showing his conflicted opinion on society. At times, he expresses his self hatred towards the condescending attitude of the actions he himself makes. The Catcher in the Rye s purpose is to prevent all the teenage angst and self loathing by saving them from corruption. Salinger utilizes this symbol to show the longing for innocence within the corrupt adults and a feeling of obligation to protect and preserve their pureness. The symbol of the catcher and the rye first is mentioned when Holden hears little kids singing if a body catch a body coming through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... D. Salinger s personal life had a direct correlation with his support for the Catcher in the Rye s role. His first marriage resulted in a divorce, with the ex wife reporting that if the relationship continued it would seriously injure her health and endanger her reason (Biography.com). All those who had been closely attributed to him have all reported negative accounts on him. Not only did he have unpleasant encounters with others but he had also suffered from great trauma from serving in the military. This may explain where all the angst and condescending mentality of Holden Caufield derived from. The state of mind is what causes the longingness he feels for innocence and the need for there to be a catcher in society. Because of this, he feels the need to be the Catcher in the Rye even though he knows the role of it is almost impossible to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mandela belief that education can change the world is still a dream. Education can prove to tackle the current issues across the world. Great leaders like Nelson Mandela, Gandhi Martin Luther King have always stressed on this matter. Education can help people Improve their social economic standards by creating more job opportunities. December 2, 2011 McCombs School of Business The University of Texas at Austin Overview Best Buy operates as one of the largest electronic consumer outlets in the United States. While Best Buy is internationally known for selling a large variety of electronics, it also sells home office products, appliances, and entertainment products. Best Buy chains are located predominantly in the United States, Canada, Europe, and China. With a market capitalization of over $10 billion, Best Buy is the dominant player in this industry. Competition in this industry is high primarily because there is little to no switching costs if a buyer chooses to shop somewhere else. Likewise, products are not set apart: buyers can get comparable products at almost all of the different electronic stores. As a result, companies like Best Buy have to compete on prices and non tangibles, such as customer service and friendliness. The threat of potential new entrants into the consumer electronics retail industry is relatively low. Best Buy has forged a reputation for selling mid to high end product and excellent customer service. It would be difficult for an entrant to challenge the company. Furthermore, it would be difficult to undercut incumbent firms who have already established relationships with suppliers to purchase merchandize at the lowest prices. The substitute products, that may take a portion of the market share away from the consumer electronics retail industry, do not create a huge or direct hazard. Today s society and culture place a big emphasis on technology and it is highly reliant on electronics. The bargaining power of buyers for electronic products is extremely low because the buyers primarily consist of a weak and divided group of individuals, and technology has became a vital need for most people. The suppliers for companies in the market have

Section 80 details that everyone has a right to a fair trial by a jury and section 116 implies freedom of religion in that no laws are to be made in order to define or prohibit any religion (Findlaw Australia, 2016). Common law is set by precedents and customs that have been developed over lengthy periods of time rather that statutes. It allows judges to interpret current legislation which allows for flexibility when difficult and unique cases arise. When precedents are set a common law is created, for example the unique case of Kevin and Jennifer v Attorney General (2001). This case was the first in Australia to deal with the topic of transexuatal marriage. It followed the example of the United Kingdom s Corbett v Corbett (1971) case which defined what it was to be female or male (Oxford University Press, 2003). The Australian courts decision to allow Kevin, a transextual man, to marry meant that any future transexual people who wished to do the same were permitted by common law. Although common law is set by magistrates, the Commonwealth Government is able to expand or reduce common law as they see necessary (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2015). Important human rights are protected by common law including the presumption of innocence and the right to sue for false imprisonment (Australian Human Rights Commision, 2009). Common law is not a solidly structured form of human rights protection although it does allow flexibility within court cases while the ability for the government to alter common law provides further assurance in that no common law can not be altered. Issues may also arise from allowing the government to possess this power because while Australia is a democracy, voters may not consider human rights as an important issue when choosing who they would like to govern ... In The Wonders of the Invisible World, Mather outlined his belief that the convictions in Salem were justified. In fact, it was the judges of the court of oyer and terminer who asked Mather to write a book to clear their name. In modern child abuse cases, authorities historically tended to believe what children said because they did not want to believe that they could make up such harsh accusations. However, this blind faith in a child s testimony has recently been challenged as children have been increasingly educated on the warning signs of abuse and are, therefore, more capable of making fake accusations. Much the same, the authorities in Salem did not want to believe the girls could make up such severe claims of witchcraft, even though they had been increasingly made aware of the folklore and, therefore, able to fake the symptoms. It has also been noted that the girls supposed fits, if not truly choreographed and acted out, could have been the result of asthma or even epilepsy. Asthma can be caused by stress, changes in room temperature, or the presence of mold. However, attacks can also occur randomly without warning. Therefore, when they do occur, it will look as though the person experiencing the attack is in critical condition. It has been concluded that, If asthma played a part, it is not surprising that the girls attacks of choking were common indoors, in damp and moldy houses, and in the evening, when fires were stoked, rooms became smoky, and temperatures increased. The rapid industrialization brought achievement to the United States, however, it also caused several social problems. Wealth and power were concentrated in the hands of a few, and poverty and political corruption were widespread. As people became aware of these problems, a new reform group was created. Unlike populism, which had been a group of farmers grown desperate as the economy submerged into depression, the new reform movement arose from the educated middle class. If people didn?t take education seriously, the country would not be the country we would be today. We would have corruption throughout the nation and our technology would be outdated. We would have not had any advances in medicines or cures to many of the diseases that are curable today. The stability in the government would not be balanced, and the economy would sink into depression. Everything considered the country would be in turmoil and misery. Back in the 1900?s, the food was not the healthiest or cleanest you would see nowadays. Sinclair disguised himself as a worker in a Chicago meat packing plant to observe harmful and unsanitary practices. In the factory, to kill rats, Sinclair wrote, ?the packers would put poisoned bread out for them, they would die, and then rats, bread, and meat would go into the hoppers together.? Hence, that would be the meat made for the public to eat. Disposing of these tactics, and thinking in a lateral direction, can afford a tactical advantage over a more cumbersome and habitual foe. This competitive advantage can often mean the difference between victory and defeat, and can be necessary to establish dominance within the area of conflict. Jay Conrad Levinson (2007) was the first to directly apply these concepts to the business world with a method of promotion he publicized in 1984 as guerilla marketing. Benefits to Small Business The Bolton Committee (1971) sought to define small enterprise by the following criteria: they own a small market share, are managed by owners or co owners and operate independently of any large firm (as cited in Bach, 2007, p.15). Bach (2007) concluded that, in an effort to survive against the influence of larger businesses with their expanded budgets and reach, these small businesses must rely on their ability to innovate and segment the market. These enterprises are critical for employing workers across the job market and further spurning competitiveness (Bach, 2007). Gruber (2004) noted that, in addition to limited financial resources, small and new businesses are often restricted by the uncertainty of market predictability and marketing planning. Doyle s research surmised that due to these externalities the process of building credibility and establishing competitive advantage regarded as one of the most important determinants in early success could most effectively be achieved through unconventional means (as cited in Gruber, 2004, p.188). Another way the museum salutes the ethnicity of American Indians is by commemorating Native individuals alive today. Names of famous Native Americans are displayed along with their contributions to the ethnic group. Upon arrival, I was informed that the museum is divided by Tribe and the regions in which each tribe was located. The reason I think it is divided this way is so that every person who visits has the ability to learn about each region of tribes separately. It is easy to make assumptions that Native Americans were all the same, but the truth is that they are all unique. Each tribe has their own customs, clothing, food, and ways of life. Mid nineteenth century Europe started to transition away from this culture of intellectual prosperity. Firstly, the age of the earth was still heavily debated at the time of publication. In the early nineteenth century, people assumed that the earth was approximately six thousand years old. Later, William Kelvin theorized that the earth was between twenty and four hundred million years old. Because Darwin s theory depended on the earth being more than six thousand years old, it was hard for many people to accept it as truth. Darwin was also criticized, like Lamarck, for missing transitional fossils that would potentially prove the gradual evolution of a species. Also like Lamarck, Darwin lacked a specific mechanism by which traits were inherited by offspring. Unfortunately, he had not heard of Gregor Mendel s research on genetics. Darwin speculated on pangenesis in which gemmules (tiny hereditary particles) were emitted from all cells and were collected in the organism s reproductive organs (Darwin). However, critics said this theory was too Lamarckian. Furthermore, Darwin s theory of natural selection was also criticized on religious grounds. From baby reflexes to Mona Lisa s mysterious smile and female actors, she uses her information in a way that people can accumulate some sort of connection of what she s writing into their lives. Connecting one personal story or experience to another can make people empathize, especially if the general target audience is towards to women as per this article. Using this, Cunningham uses her personal connective approach and informative evidence to prove that smiles of the womanly kind are being used too much and used wrongly. In this case, I agree with Cunningham s point in her explanation about the reason why women really smile by how she utilizes her approach in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Essay On Sharpen My Instruments On Thursday, September 28th my morning and afternoon patients cancelled the night before. After making a few phone calls I was able to schedule my patient NN for the afternoon. It worked well because her next appointment was scheduled for November 10th since that was my next Thursday appointment on my schedule. During the morning since I did not have a patient, I decided to sharpen my instruments because my afternoon patient had a lot of supra and subgingival calculus and I wanted to be ready to effectively remove them all. I washed a video to refresh the basic concepts on sharping and I was able to do a sharpen competency. Dental hygienists depend on a very sensitive tactile touch while working subgingivally, for this reason the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I thought that showing her some intraoral photos of her supragingival calculus will help them to be more diligent in putting in practice my recommendations on brushing and flossing. I tried to have everything organized and ready for my afternoon patient because my plan was to SRP the UR and LR quadrants. First, I updated her medical and dental history, and took her vitals. My patient NN is 58 years old with an excellent health. Her blood pressure was 99/65, pulse: 65, and respiration: 20. After explaining the procedure to my patient, I asked for her consent to administer anesthesia and she agreed. For the UR and LR quadrants I used 20% benzocaine as my topic anesthesia and 2% lidocaine (1:100,000) to infiltrate the PSA, MSA, and ASA; Dr Landry did the IA and the Long. In all of the sites we got negative aspiration, no complications and anesthesia was achieved. I started with the cavitron and then followed with my hand instruments; my patient had some 7 mm pockets and for those I used the after 5 instruments. My patient was comfortable during the whole procedure, and while we were waiting for the lower teeth to get anesthetized, I went over the flossing and the brushing techniques. I recommended the used of interdental brushes because she has recessions and will help her clean better the interproximal spaces. Also, I advised her to use warm water and salt twice a day. The patient wanted to know if we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Premarital Counseling Among Christian Couples And The... Premarital Counseling Among Christian Couples and the Effects on Divorce Rates William Q. McCardle Liberty University Abstract Premarital counseling is an option that is often prompted by clergy as a positive experience to explore the familiarities, differences, and expectations that couples hold prior to the marriage commitment. The goal of premarital counseling is to promote discussion of difficult questions that may arise after the nuptial vows. Examining the effects of premarital counseling among Christian couples will permit the exploration of how it alters divorce rates. The effectiveness of premarital counseling will be analyzed and deliberated using statistics, data, interviews, surveys, and library research. Targeted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many young couples who are entering into marriage are caught up in the whirlwind of engagement parties, wedding plans, planning a new home, and meeting new family members; often, they cease to look beyond the present and think about the issues that may arise in the relationship during the future (Altenhofen, 2008). In some instances, couples are ill prepared for marriage because they do not have a relationship that has considered and worked through any type of conflict resolution (Phegley, 2003). Clergy who are entrusted to conduct the marriage ceremonies have a duty to assist couples in discussing and facing the difficulties that will arise as a marriage develops (McGeorge Carlson, 2006). Lack of communication can lead to many complications that often lead to individuals going their separate ways in a marriage (Clinton Sibcy, 2006). Through statistical information, research, interviews, and biblical accounts, one can determine whether premarital counseling among Christian couples has an effect on the divorce rate. The institution of marriage is blessed and instructed by God. Hebrews 13:4 of the King James Version of the Bible, instructs that, Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. (Hebrews 13:4, King James Version). Whenever Christ began his ministry on Earth, he chose members of a wedding feast to be the recipients of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
