Steroid Violence Article Summary
Dunn, M. (2015). Commentary on lundholm et al. (2015): What came first, the steroids or the
violence? Addiction, 110(1), 109 110. doi:10.1111/add.12752 The purpose of this article is to educate
readers about the myth of roid rage . Roid rage is when a person who uses anabolic androgens and
commits violent acts or behavior impulsively. To address the myth, the researchers conducted a study
in Copland amongst steroid users and found that 44 % of them reported increase aggression. From the
research, researchers concluded that not all steroid users experience increase aggression. Therefore
there are other factors that contribute to increased aggression in steroid users such as their job,
previous behavior and ultimately their lifestyle. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To address the purpose researcher completed a multimodal magnetic resonance imaging study of the
brain compared 10 male weightlifters reporting long term AAS use with 10 age matched weightlifters

neuroimaging. From the research it was concluded that Long term AAS use is associated with right
amygdala enlargement and reduced right amygdala with brain areas involved in cognitive control and
spatial memory, which could contribute to the psychiatric effects and cognitive dysfunction associated
with steroid use. The strength of the article is that it breaks down the science of steroids and the
impact on the users also making the article unique. Examining the psychiatric effects through
neuroimaging is relevant to the field of psychology because it create more thorough details of the
psychiatric effects of steroids. The article is a great resource for someone who wants to conduct
serious research I the field of psychology. However it would be beneficial is the readers did have

Essay on Reflexivity and Modern Works of Anthropology
Reflexivity and Modern Works of Anthropology
The role of reflexivity in Anthropology has changed a great deal over time. The effects of doing
ethnography on the ethnographer was not considered an important mode of inquiry in the past. While
inevitably, going to far distant lands and living with a culture so different from your own will at least
cause the ethnographer to reflect on personal issues but most likely will cause profound changes in the
way he or she will view the world. But in the past these changes were not important. What was
necessary for the ethnographer to do in the past was to document a culture break it down structurally
and quantify the observations made. The reflexive nature of his or her experiences were of little ...

(Malinowski, 11) This basically means that it is the role of the ethnographer to rationalize and put in
writing the ways of existence of another culture. What he gains from the experience of living with the
trobriand islanders is of no concern the people he was writing for. It is my belief that perhaps the
reason that the anthropologists of the past have placed so much importance on structuralizing and
bringing into written fruition the laws that the natives live by but are not aware of, is to give others the
idea that their research and inquiry are purely scientific and by no means reflexive. The reason that
they do this is probably to get backing by institutions in order so they may have their travels paid for
and so they may be recognized as a scholar by a scholarly reading audience.
As time has gone on more and more Anthropologists have talked about how their ethnographic
research has effected their thinking. At first they integrated the reflexive nature of their research in a
sort of roundabout way. For instance the notion that different cultures and peoples really don t
structure their realities all that differently. (Levi Strauss) While this may not seem to be reflexive and
it definitely is not blatantly expressed in the text, it is more philosophical and more geared towards
stimulating thoughts about the nature of life as we know it. While Levi Strauss may not have stated
this outright (he still had to appear

Nature Of Nature In Dracula
Meanwhile, not only characters can represent the monstrous feminine. Creed, for instance, points out
how one of the space ships in Alien resembles open legs, leading the characters through a vaginal
opening into the nesting place of the monsters ( Horror and the Monstrous Feminine 56). In Dracula,
untamed nature itself represents the monstrous feminine. The rural areas of Transylvania are set in
stark contrast with the urban England that represents the world of men and order. Jonathan describes
the foreign land as one of the wildest and least known portions of Europe (Stoker 10). However,
although the country s nature poses dangers in some regards (for instance in the form of wolves)
(Stoker 18), it is also a country which was full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like these other characters, Transylvania plays second fiddle to the normal occidental England.
Transylvania represents the East and therefore also the colonial other in contrast to Britain s male
dominated modern cities. The female vampires represent the monstrous feminine women that are
contrasted with the submissive and docile Mina. Dracula himself is contrasted with the male heroic
protagonists of the novel. It is also noteworthy that we never get Dracula s perspective on the story
just like we never get the vampire women s perspective. What is more, the story is largely focused on
England s view whereas Transylvania becomes the oriental other. All these others (characters and
country alike) are marginalised through the narration, which is only told through the dominant
Western characters. Lucy is the only one to become part of the monstrous feminine discourse, and the
reader never gets insight into her thoughts after her change into a

Church Service Reflection
In June 2016, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve on a mission trip to Haiti. While this whole
experience was outside of my cultural norms, I found that the church service was specifically unlike
anything I had ever experienced before. The church located on the campus of Mission of Hope: Haiti,
was constructed in the form of a crucifix. I honestly had no idea what to expect from the Sunday
morning church service. Before the church service began, my friend and her family made sure that I
took my own bible and journal to church, since the message was spoken in Haitian Creole.
I knew that we were in Haiti serving those who were living in poverty, but to my surprise the Haitians
who attended the church service were dressed in very nice clothing. I believe this was the biggest
stereotype going into the church service. After spending time in nearby villages and interacting with
the Haitian people, I did not think they would have the means to have such nice clothing. I love that
throughout the week they wear casual clothing and on Sundays wear their best clothing. That
reminded me a lot about how I was raised. As a child, I always had to wear a skirt or dress to church.
This younger kids reminded me of myself.
Enriching awareness This experience allowed me to understand the universal Church better. It was
such a cool thing to experience the worship that was included in the service. The songs were sung in
Creole, but I could sing the words in English because I was able to

Essay on The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat...
The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat Diets
The low carbohydrate diets and the low fat diets both claim to be successful methods of losing weight
and staying healthy. Both diet plans also attempt to carry out their goals by restricting what dieters can
and cannot eat in relation to what is recommended by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Through altering what nutritionists suggest for a healthy regime, low carbohydrate and low fat meal
plans potentially put dieters at a higher risk for developing health problems and diseases. Also, diet
plans do not necessarily accomplish their goals when maintained over a long period of time.
Diets set regulations on what should or shouldn t be part of a daily nutritional ... Show more content

The low carbohydrate diets recognize this and suggest that by nearly eliminating carbohydrates from
the diet, it will prevent the human body from accumulating too much fat, and will force the body to
burn already stored fats and proteins for energy instead. Low fat diets, on the other hand, claim that
fatty foods are much easier to convert to body fat compared to carbohydrates. They also contend that
complex carbohydrates are a better source of energy for the body, due to the fact that the body takes a
longer amount of time to digest and thus process the carbohydrates.
Altering the recommended nutritional schedule implies potential health risks and problems. Since the
low carb diets like Atkins largely restricts the amount of carbohydrate intake, it limits along with it
beneficial chemicals found in carbohydrates such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and antioxidants, that
may help prevent heart disease, cancer, and other disorders.1 Also, a decrease of carbohydrates greatly
increases the risk of osteoporosis which can lead to bone fractures, spinal collapse and nerve damage.
The increase in fatty foods that results from the Atkins diet is also potentially harmful, and can
increase the risk of heart disease and raises cholesterol levels. The increase of carbohydrate intake
recommended by the low fat diets, however, can elevate blood sugar and blood fat amounts. This is
also hazardous, particularly for individuals who are diabetic or

An Analysis of Beethoven Pathetique Sonata
An application of Analysis of Beethoven s Pathetique piano sonata No. 8 inC minor, Op.13 with
particular focus on musical features such as melody, thematic content, rhythm, form and structure, and
harmony.
Bent states that analysis is the means of answering the question, how does it work? According to Bent,
analysis is a relatively young discipline analysis as a pursuit in its own right became established
during the 19th century (Bent, 2006, p.13), although basic methods of analysis of music has been
suggested to date back to the eighteenth century and have become a seductively compelling and
important topic for music scholars over the last fifty years, and as a result, an extensive range of

8 in C minor, Op. 13 composed in 1798 focussing on musical features such as melody, thematic
content, rhythm, form and structure and harmony. This sonata has been chosen for analysis as it is the
most popular Beethoven sonata within the performance circuit, as it is a well known piece worldwide.
Secondly, Beethoven developed Sonata form, adding more thematic contrast and contrasting melodies
reflecting his own personal struggles with his progressive loss of hearing and also his failures in his
love life which all contributed to the passion and despair that is depicted within the sonatas during his
second compositional stage in his career.
Firstly, I will discuss the methods used in order to analyse the Form and Structure of the piece. The
emphasis in analysis was often given to the form and structure of the piece, especially during the
nineteenth century as this allows performers to gain knowledge more directly regarding the overall
style of the piece. The sonata is composed in Sonata form and is separated into three movements,
firstly the Grave Allegro di molto e con brio movement, followed by the Adagio Cantabile middle
movement and finally the Rondo Allegro movement. There are different meanings to the word
structure in music, the first is to do with locating the different movements or the different sections of
the piece and the second is to look at how the piece has been put

Training, Training And Development
It would seem that investment in learning, training and development are crucial for large organizations
which believe that after the training, their employees would well develop and apply the new skills
which they have learnt to benefit their organizations. However, many studies have shown that only ten
percent of trainees apply what they have learnt from training to a job (Fitzatrick, 2001). However,
learning, training and development will be considered to be one thing in this paper because while
employees are training, they are learning new skill at the same time. Furthermore, after training they
will develope their skill by applying it in their daily work. Therefore, this paper attempts to present

Therefore, when trainees have problems or questions, supervisor could give a sensible answer and
more suggestion to think further. In Pre training activity, the training topic will be discussed in
advance between supervisor and trainees, so there should be sufficient time for trainees to prepare (M.
Saks A. and Belcourt M.,2006). Additionally, the supervisor should persuade and encourage their
employees by defining them reasonable and practical goals, so they will know which areas they
should focus on (M. Saks A. and Belcourt M.,2006). Nevertheless, some activities need the
cooperation from organizations to control the system. First, organizations do not have to force trainees
to attend every training class but offer them choices and allow them to choose what they are really
interested in (Baldwin, Magjuka, Loher, 1991). Then, emphasis on the training participate inform
them that attendance at training program is mandatory (M. Saks A. and Belcourt M., 2006, p636).
Training activity during the training might take place in the formal training context or e learning
which allow them to observe others working or learning by the theory (Holton et al., 2003; Noe, 1986;
Tracey et al., 1995). However, many companies previously have emphasised on work environment
factors which trainers who could be their supervisors teach trainees themselves, and it has been
considered that this method is more effective (Baldwin Ford, 1988; Tracey et al., 1995). During

The Scopes Trial Was Caused By Political Factors
Can you imagine not learning how to multiply or divide or anything else that you find necessary to
help you succeed in school? Then maybe you can visualize living in the state of Tennessee, where
public schools could not teach Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It all started when the teachers Butler
Act was passed, it banned the teaching of the Evolution. Most people were indignant because of how
the law favored those who acclaimed the bible. The conviction of John Scopes in the Scopes Trial was
caused by political factors like the laws passed and the trial itself, the geographic factors such as the
location also known as the Bible Belt and lastly the primary factor is social factors, such as religious
beliefs.

The mistake had not been that Scopes was guilty because of the judges preference over the
prosecution, but it was that Scopes has been over fined. While many resented the law, the government
did not withdraw the law, Despite its far reaching implications, public universities ignored the bill, and
the Governor, whom some expected would veto it, signed it into law...He understood it for what it
was, a symbolic protest against the undarmining of religion by science, (The Scopes). This shows that
even though many people did not like the law because of its relation to Christianity the like remained.
The Governor did not sign the law for the purpose to better the state, but because he did not like the
idea of religion and science overlapping. Like the politic factors, geographic location also played a
factor in the conviction of John Scopes.
The geographic factors such as the location, history and climate influenced the conviction in many
ways. The trial s location had a major effect because the people who live Tennessee and the extensive
area are religious. Tennessee, the location where the trial was held was in the Bible Belt, The Bible
Belt region stretches from Northern Texas to Western North Carolina. In the Bible Belt region, more
conservative Christians live there than other places in the

Fabtek has appointed a former marketing expert, Lightfoot, to lead operations. Lightfoot has indicated
the need for a greater mark up on labor due to uncertainty. However, customers are unlikely to pay for
uncertainty. This approach will only inflate a quote and hamper the ability to make a sale based on
value provided to the customer.
Reducing manufacturing overhead improving labor estimates on quotes is important because currently
the marketing department does not trust cost estimates from the operations department. Marketing
typically adjusts quotes to reflect market and corporate goals. This is a poor approach to address the
bidding process and is likely a contributing factor the low success rate of quotes.
Manufacturing Costs are unreliable and the Bidding Process has a low success rate. Fabtek needs to
train its manufacturing and marketing group to work together in estimating accurate costs, lead times
and understanding customer value in quoting a job. Fabtek should only quote business opportunities
that fit the company s selection criteria defined by Marketing and Operations. This strategy would
increase Fabtek s hit rate on quotes.
Too Many Markets
Fabtek currently serves 11 markets. They need to prioritize the business portfolio and reduce the
number of markets served. Fabtek needs a new marketing approach with an increased focus on
growth. The company s methodology and the strategy should be

The Magnicent Earth s Surface
One other aspect of the magnificent earth is the surface itself. The layers of the Earth are very
different in their composition. The crust, mantle, and core of the earth are all very fascinating. Also, a
theory called plate tectonics attempts to explain many phenomena that occur on the surface of the
earth, such as earthquakes. Some properties of the earth s surface are its layers, the plate tectonics
theory, and earthquakes. The layers of the earth are very complex. These layers are the crust, mantle,
and core (Wile 132). The core is divided into two regions: the inner core and the outer core (Wile
131). Earth s crust is defined as Earth s outermost layer of rock (Wile 132). The thickness of the crust
averages 55 to 12 miles (Wile 132). In addition to rock, the crust of the earth contains soil and
sediment (Wile 132). Sediment is defined as small, solid fragments of rock and other materials that are
carried and deposited by wind, water, or ice (Wile 132). Sedimentary rock is also found on the earth s
crust. Sedimentary rock is rock formed when chemical reactions cement sediments together, hardening
them (Wile 133). Igneous rock, rock that forms from molten rock , is also found in the crust (Wile
133). Melted rock that cools and re solidifies becomes igneous rock (Wile 133). The last kind of rock
in the crust is called meromorphic rock (Wile 133). This is igneous or sedimentary rock that has been
changed into a new kind of rock as a result of great pressure

Benefits And Benefits Of Employee Employees
perform each job. While training each employee in each area is time consuming it has many benefits
to the employees and to the business. By allowing employees to rotate though the different jobs in the
restaurant it helps prevent employee burn out in some of the higher stress areas of the business. The
cash register is one of these areas; employees are expected to have a constant outgoing, happy
appearance with customers and having to deal with the never ending calls for takeout increases stress.
On the other hand it allows for increased flexibility and shift coverage for the business owner. For
instance, if one employee calls out sick and that employee were scheduled to be the pizza maker for
that night, it would be relatively easy to shift another worker or call someone in to cover that position.
This increased flexibility takes stress off of the business owner and the employees. The owner also
does a good job at trying to give employees the opportunity for job enlargement; he allows employees
to come up with specialty pizzas not on the menu for the week, and whichever employee has the
bestselling pizza at the end of the month gets some kind of bonus. By allowing employees to use their
creativity it keeps them involved and caring for the business; which in turn improves the bottom line
and efficiency of the company.

The Pros And Cons Of Sex Work
What is sex work? An official definition does not exist, however American Jewish World Service
refers to sex work as the act of providing sexual services in exchange for money, goods, or favors.
There are many different forms of sex work, some are legal and some are illegal. Some are legal in
certain geographic locations, but illegal in others. In this industry, certain labor is more stigmatized
than others. Criminalized sex work, such as prostitution, is very stigmatized. Exotic dancing does not
hold quite the same stigma because it is legal in the United States.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics as of September 2016, there are 400,000 strippers
employed by US strip clubs. Despite the significant amount of woman who work in this industry, there
is a stigma being carried around that is potentially deadly. It has been proven there is a link between
anti sex work rhetoric and an increase of violence against sex workers. (Penfold, Hunter, Campbell,
Barham 2010). A systematic review of the link between sex work and violence determined that 45
75% of sex workers chance experiencing sexual violence at some point in their careers. (Deering et

Equality And Peaceful Protest For Women s Rights
Introduction:
In history, women have faced many obstacles and challenges in regards to equality and finding
respect. As time progresses, women were able to obtain rights such as voting rights, owning property,
education and et cetra. These rights would not be obtained without movements from individuals and
organizations that decided to take action on fighting on these issues. With these movements, women
have been able to advance themselves in their community, this allowed women to feel empowered and
determined to change the world. Even with society progressing to allow women to have the basic
rights in society, there are many individuals in powerful political roles that have openly shared their

However, even though the Women s March 2017 had the enormous turnout, it is evident that the
women s march failed to meet the components of contemporary feminism. Firstly, the Women s March
failed to meet intersectional feminism, as the march was largely based and focused on white feminism.
Even though the movement s main agenda was to include all women of diverse backgrounds, this
particular movement failed to meet those requirements as there were a lack of attendance of these
events and in order for this march to succeed in the future it is important that organizations affiliated
with women s movements bring awareness of women s issues. Secondly, it is clear that these
movements garnered the attentions of politicians including President Donald Trump, as this was the
main purpose. Even though Trump s response towards the protest was not the response women wanted
to hear, it is clear that in order for women to meet those expectations they need to dismantle
patriarchal system that is causing them not to fulfill there dreams and goals they have upon

Benefits Of Ecotourism In Kenya
1.0 Introduction
To study the ecotourism in Kenya, this report was written. Ecotourism is a travel to protected areas
that attempts to be low impact and small scale. It helps to educate the traveller, provide funds for
conservation, directly benefit the economic development and political empowerment of local
communities, and cultivate respect for different cultures and for human rights (Honey 2008, 33).
However, the concept evolved to encompass considerably more than simply nature based travel to
natural areas, with subsequent definitions including the importance of distributing environmental and
socio economic benefits to the local population (Honey 2008; Ross and Wall 1999; Epler Wood 2002).
Kenya is one of the global leaders in tourism and community based ecotourism, working with the
many local ethnic group to protect the environment and local culture. Many activities such as game

The most obvious and immediate benefits of ecotourism associated with local communities are
employment opportunities and income generation for the host region. Community in Mara and
Amboseli have businesses linked to tourism. Local communities can benefit from ecotourism
economically if they play a greater participatory role in the tourism process. Economic empowerment
is also related to a community s access to productive resources in an area targeted by ecotourism( ).
When ecotourism focuses on preservation of natural resources, economic livelihoods of local people
may be threatened. However, the communities have other sources of income from ecotourism such as
nursing, teaching, waiters, guides, plantation farming, bee keeping and fish industry, working for
NGOs, game rangers, working for the government, small community projects, income from rent,
compensations in the case of wildlife human killings as well as businesses in the

Hannibal In The Prince By Machiavelli
In The Prince Machiavelli speaks about virtue, and describes many of his characters to be virtuous.
Machiavelli s ideal virtuous leader must have the ability to avoid fortune, ability to use one s own
arms, and being a virtuous leader involves skill, therefore, to gain and remain in power.
Machiavelli s example of Hannibal in The Prince teaches us that having virtue or being virtuous is to
remain in power with the use of force. In chapter seventeen Hannibal is portrayed as being cruel;
maintains his army unified to gain and remain in power. Machiavelli also rates Hannibal highly on the
scale of virtue because it is said that ...together with his inhuman cruelty which, together with his
infinite virtues, always made him venerable and terrible

Security Versus Privacy Essay
Security Versus Privacy
As a result of 9/11, our country has been faced with a new issue: electronic privacy. The terrorists that
attacked us used our own technology against us to protect their activities from our view. Because of
this, we are now forced to make a decision between two desirable things: privacy and national
security. On the one hand, our right to privacy will ensure that our personal rights are not violated,
whereas, on the other hand, national security would allow us some comfort against the evil in the
world. What are we supposed to do? This issue, however it is decided, will have tremendous impact
on each and every one of our lives. The ruling that the government makes concerning this issue will

This would eliminate the sheltering of illegal activities and allow increased, tighter surveillance of
cyberspace. Another similar solution would be to give the government a back door into all areas of
cyberspace. Basically, that would allow them to see whatever they want, whenever they want.
Encryption technology would not have to be eliminated, but it would be required to include a
government ?back door?, so that any encryption code can be quickly broken if the need arises. A
writer for the Christian Science Monitor put it this way: ?people are willing to trade almost anything
for increased security, if they think it would make a difference? (Grier). Overall, however, this
position is held by very few people. The last solution is the one that is generally supported by those
who favor the right of personal privacy. They propose that everything should remain as it is. There
will be some minor adjustments to the current encryption technologies, but it will be allowed to exist
free of any back doors or restrictions. In a debate of the new Anti Terrorism Bill, Senator Patrick
Leahy stated that ?as Ben Franklin once observed, ?if we surrender our liberty in the name of security,
we shall have neither?? (Leahy). This is the position that is currently held by the Senate on the matter
of internet security.

Gymnasts In Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a very difficult sport that takes a lot of commitment. Many children take on gymnastics
at a young age and strive to become Olympic gymnasts by competing their whole lives, but not a lot
of people are able to pursue that dream due to the challenges that come with being a gymnast. Coaches
are currently conditioning and training their gymnasts at very demanding and advanced levels.
Although the sport has several positive health benefits on the body, it also puts gymnasts at a very
high risk of injury. It is not very common for these injuries to be severe, however, if they are not
treated properly it is likely for them to lead to chronic pain and even bone fractures.
One of a gymnasts most common injuries is a stress fracture involving the lower back. The medical
term for this is Spondylosis. The back is a very crucial part of gymnastics, it is constantly working
hard and being used. Amongst gymnasts, the most common cause of a stress fracture is overuse.
However, they can also occur due to an awkward fall or a fall from a height. Almost everything in
gymnastics calls for a combination of great speed and power which puts any gymnast at high risk of
falling or landing wrong. Whether it s a fall or an awkward landing, the pressure is being applied to
the spine and joints, increasing the chances of injury. Back injuries in adolescent athletes stem from
repetitive stressful body movements, like bending and twisting that can cause trauma to the spinal
column. The

Epicurus And Lucretius Essay
The circumstance of one s death determines the stature of the experience. The shared account of
Epicurus and Lucretius unravel the merit of death, in the Philosophy and Death. There shared view is
contrasted by the piece by Nagel. It is important to note that all three accounts are assuming the soul
ceases to exist when the body perishes. Epicurus explanation is centered around death being nothing
to humans, since the sense experience is deprived through death. This concedes, there is nothing in
death and this should encourage one to seek happiness in life the fear of death is irrational (Epicurus
164). Additionally, Lucretius furthers the point of Epicurus through his theory of the body and soul
being one and mortal, therefore, death is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nagel s account draws the most concerns. He believes life is intrinsically good which is not true
(Nagel 178). Many accept death over life, since life is embroiled with terminal illnesses which can be
the means of a life of pain. Consequently, his account can be determined as blissful ignorance with no
recognition to those with dysthymia, cancer, and other conditions which have no relational good.
Another flaw in his argument is his failure to recognize that deprivation can be favorable. To be
deprived of the evils in life can only be assumed as a good. Correspondingly, it is unreasonable to
claim all deprivation as evil, especially when using potential as an argument potential can be the
means for good or evil. Overall, the shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius contradicts the entire
account of Nagel through their conviction that what one does not experience has no effect on the
person. If a person does not have an awareness of the deprivation of potential, then it is not bad.
Neither views on death answer its question of status as good or bad. The circumstance in which the
person who dies is relevant to determine the principle of death. By the doctrine of Nagel, one is to
assume that life is intrinsically good, which under certain circumstances is clearly proven as a flaw
(Nagel 178). From the previous discussion about terminal illnesses and depression, there are times

Building Elements Of A Successful Team
Proactive Planning
In meetings requested by managers, various agendas are discussed and explained. Of them, the plan to
establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to establish a
team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in order to accomplish
a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s managers are experiencing
some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are not. Therefore, discussions are
held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to be self directed and high
performing.
In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. If a manager has
not fulfilled the demand of having this type of team, they are focused on as needing more aid in
successfully moving forward towards the goal. At the time, those who are struggling are expected to
learn from those who are doing well in order for them to identify the mistakes and how to correct
them. In team building, through the help of leadership within the company, a team of people
collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. (Midura Glover, 2005) In this case, leaders
are managers and they make decisions, clarify goals, build commitment practices and coach their
team. Team building is very important as it enhances collaboration. It also creates a greater likelihood
of commitment to the company by its employees and the overall communication

Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
Considered one of American s foremost feminist authors, Kate Chopin addresses issues challenging to
the social and gender roles of the late 1800s. She celebrates women who seek their own identity and
focuses on individual journeys of self discovery. Her short story The Story of an Hour has a unique
structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who represents idealism.
Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership of her own emotions
and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges only upon her husband s
supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional freedom, suggesting actions and
feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional forces instead of individual will. In
order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism, Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs.
Mallard s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and choice within the bedroom and the world of
deterministic forces on the other side of the door. Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy
between the desire to change one s situation and the possibility to change one s situation.
In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and
determines one s fate. As the news of Brently Mallard s death arrives, family and friends are
apprehensive to deliver the news to Mrs. Mallard. The caution, however, does not stem from genuine
concern for her

Cross Cultural Differences in India
Western Governors University
India has become a global conduit for business as they have liberalized their economic policies over
the past 20 years. Companies are flocking to India because of many factors, including, less expensive
labor costs, increasing growth rate, and an abundance of a highly skilled workforce. These factors in
addition to other advantages have substantially increased the number of United States businesses
looking to grow beyond the U. S borders into the county of India. Dunlop Software Consultant s goal

When greeting someone it is expected that one would bow with their hands together. In the U.S.,
saying hello or goodbye with a hand wave is an acceptable gesture, yet in India a hand wave is a sign
of saying go away . When communicating with another person it is an understood rule that there
should be a one arm s length between the parties during conversation. Overall, when communicating
within the Indian Culture, there are many ways to easily offend them. Education of their culture could
have great benefits to communication and respect. When doing business or just simply greeting an
Indian person, the last thing you want to happen is offend them or their culture. Knowing there are
different ways of communicating between cultures will have a positive outcome from a business
aspect and also a social aspect. The final cross cultural difference I will discuss is the collectivist
culture of India versus the individualistic culture of the United States. India is more of a collectivist
culture, whereas the U.S. is strongly individualistic. The family is at the center of Indian society,
which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a family are brought together to live in one
household. The hierarchical nature of the Indian culture extends into the family as well, where the
head of the family makes the key decisions for the household (Kumar, 2005). An Indian s primary
loyalty usually lies with their family rather than with their

The Odyssey By Homer Is Considered The First And Greatest...
One man said, All men are created equal ; however, men treat women differently in today s culture.
Society categorizes them as less intelligent, not capable of working in job fields such as construction,
and generally less important than men. Because of these ideas, women do not have the same
advantages as men. The importance is the effect it has on the progression of the future. Today, women
have overcome most stereotypes, but there are still plenty remaining. Most stereotypes originate from
ancient times, for example this theme is seen in the Odyssey, written by Homer, who is considered the
first and greatest epic poet. Women face persecution daily through the media and society, yet the way
society thinks towards them is changing.
In the Odyssey, there is a demeaning description of women. The thought of how evil and useless
women are shows up in all female characters. The main theory is women are possessions or prizes to
be won. They are shown as malevolent, sinister beings with terrible intentions. Starting with Calypso,
Homer describes her as evil and unfair. Calypso takes Odysseus captive and makes him become her
boyfriend (Homer 485). There is no mention of Odysseus wanting to stay; therefore, it makes Calypso
sound worse than she probably is. The reader infers how mean Calypso is when she says, Oh you vile
gods, in jealousy supernal!/ You hate it when we choose to lie with men / immortal flesh by some dear
mortal side [...] Surely I cannot send him,/ I have no

forms of life which integrate words, acts, values, beliefs, attitudes, and social identities as well as

Final Paper (Summary of Endangered Species Act)
Endangered Species Act What is an endangered species? is a question that needs to be addressed
before getting known of endangered species act. An endangered species is a population of organisms
which is at risk of becoming extinct due to three possible reasons: it is few in numbers. According to
the theory of Exponential Growth Curve proposed by Malthus, a lower population tends to have a
lower reproductive rate and thus a higher risk of going extinct; or a species is threatened by changing

In the second category, there are three conservation statuses which are critically endangered ,
endangered and vulnerable . They differ in the risk of extinction; critically endangered species has the
highest risk of extinction, followed by the remaining two. The third category consists of 3
conservation statuses: conservation dependent , near threatened and least concern , which differ from
one another in terms of their needs to be included into conservation programs. By understanding the
risk of going extinct of each species according to the Red List, international organizations and state
governments can develop appropriate conservation program corresponding to each of them. Different
graph and statistics about the situation of endangered species in the world have been collected:

1900s Film History
Film has revolutionized the world as we know it. In the current day and age film is quite advanced.
You can watch movies with special effects and insane resolution there were never thought possible

today.
The first place to look when you are looking into the history of film is the 1900s. The 1900s to 1910 is
when the very first film machine was invented and used for the first time. The early technology of film

Pregnancy And The Birth Of A Fetus
Since 1955, ultrasounds have been performed on pregnant women to search for imperfections and
abnormalities during gestation. 1 These ultrasound machines use non ionizing sound waves to produce
images of the growing fetus. When they re used in moderation and for diagnostic purposes only, they
re considered safe. However, different studies have shown that there are possible harmful affects that
can come from obstetric sonography that directly affect the fetus when they re improperly used. There
are a variety of types of ultrasounds that an expecting woman can receive throughout the duration of a
pregnancy. All of these types of ultrasounds use sound waves and have the same goal in tracking the
gestational age of a fetus, growth and development, placental location, to detect irregularities that may
occur throughout a woman s pregnancy, and to monitor amniotic fluid volume levels. 1 Obstetric
sonography can affect a fetus by creating mechanical vibrations, heat, and air bubbles in the fluids of
the baby s body. When women receive ultrasounds for medical use, they are performed by trained
technologists, supervised by doctors, and the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably
Achievable) is applied during the exams. After the development of ultrasounds, people started to use
them for entertainment purposes and to have a souvenir picture of the baby.2 These unnecessary
exams were administered by untrained, unlicensed technicians, and often without a doctor s
supervision. 3

  • 2. Steroid Violence Article Summary Dunn, M. (2015). Commentary on lundholm et al. (2015): What came first, the steroids or the violence? Addiction, 110(1), 109 110. doi:10.1111/add.12752 The purpose of this article is to educate readers about the myth of roid rage . Roid rage is when a person who uses anabolic androgens and commits violent acts or behavior impulsively. To address the myth, the researchers conducted a study in Copland amongst steroid users and found that 44 % of them reported increase aggression. Participants were administered visuospatial memory tests and underwent neuroimaging. From the research it was concluded that Long term AAS use is associated with right amygdala enlargement and reduced right amygdala with brain areas involved in cognitive control and spatial memory, which could contribute to the psychiatric effects and cognitive dysfunction associated with steroid use. The strength of the article is that it breaks down the science of steroids and the impact on the users also making the article unique. • 3. Essay on Reflexivity and Modern Works of Anthropology Reflexivity and Modern Works of Anthropology The role of reflexivity in Anthropology has changed a great deal over time. The effects of doing ethnography on the ethnographer was not considered an important mode of inquiry in the past. While inevitably, going to far distant lands and living with a culture so different from your own will at least cause the ethnographer to reflect on personal issues but most likely will cause profound changes in the way he or she will view the world. But in the past these changes were not important. What was necessary for the ethnographer to do in the past was to document a culture break it down structurally and quantify the observations made. The reflexive nature of his or her experiences were of little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Malinowski, 11) This basically means that it is the role of the ethnographer to rationalize and put in writing the ways of existence of another culture. What he gains from the experience of living with the trobriand islanders is of no concern the people he was writing for. It is my belief that perhaps the reason that the anthropologists of the past have placed so much importance on structuralizing and bringing into written fruition the laws that the natives live by but are not aware of, is to give others the idea that their research and inquiry are purely scientific and by no means reflexive. The reason that they do this is probably to get backing by institutions in order so they may have their travels paid for and so they may be recognized as a scholar by a scholarly reading audience. As time has gone on more and more Anthropologists have talked about how their ethnographic research has effected their thinking. At first they integrated the reflexive nature of their research in a sort of roundabout way. For instance the notion that different cultures and peoples really don t structure their realities all that differently. (Levi Strauss) While this may not seem to be reflexive and it definitely is not blatantly expressed in the text, it is more philosophical and more geared towards stimulating thoughts about the nature of life as we know it. While Levi Strauss may not have stated this outright (he still had to appear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nature Of Nature In Dracula Meanwhile, not only characters can represent the monstrous feminine. Creed, for instance, points out how one of the space ships in Alien resembles open legs, leading the characters through a vaginal opening into the nesting place of the monsters ( Horror and the Monstrous Feminine 56). In Dracula, untamed nature itself represents the monstrous feminine. The rural areas of Transylvania are set in stark contrast with the urban England that represents the world of men and order. Jonathan describes the foreign land as one of the wildest and least known portions of Europe (Stoker 10). However, although the country s nature poses dangers in some regards (for instance in the form of wolves) (Stoker 18), it is also a country which was full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like these other characters, Transylvania plays second fiddle to the normal occidental England. Transylvania represents the East and therefore also the colonial other in contrast to Britain s male dominated modern cities. The female vampires represent the monstrous feminine women that are contrasted with the submissive and docile Mina. Dracula himself is contrasted with the male heroic protagonists of the novel. It is also noteworthy that we never get Dracula s perspective on the story just like we never get the vampire women s perspective. What is more, the story is largely focused on England s view whereas Transylvania becomes the oriental other. All these others (characters and country alike) are marginalised through the narration, which is only told through the dominant Western characters. Lucy is the only one to become part of the monstrous feminine discourse, and the reader never gets insight into her thoughts after her change into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Church Service Reflection In June 2016, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve on a mission trip to Haiti. While this whole experience was outside of my cultural norms, I found that the church service was specifically unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The church located on the campus of Mission of Hope: Haiti, was constructed in the form of a crucifix. I honestly had no idea what to expect from the Sunday morning church service. Before the church service began, my friend and her family made sure that I took my own bible and journal to church, since the message was spoken in Haitian Creole. I knew that we were in Haiti serving those who were living in poverty, but to my surprise the Haitians who attended the church service were dressed in very nice clothing. I believe this was the biggest stereotype going into the church service. After spending time in nearby villages and interacting with the Haitian people, I did not think they would have the means to have such nice clothing. I love that throughout the week they wear casual clothing and on Sundays wear their best clothing. That reminded me a lot about how I was raised. As a child, I always had to wear a skirt or dress to church. This younger kids reminded me of myself. Enriching awareness This experience allowed me to understand the universal Church better. It was such a cool thing to experience the worship that was included in the service. The songs were sung in Creole, but I could sing the words in English because I was able to ... • 6. Essay on The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat... The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat Diets The low carbohydrate diets and the low fat diets both claim to be successful methods of losing weight and staying healthy. Both diet plans also attempt to carry out their goals by restricting what dieters can and cannot eat in relation to what is recommended by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Through altering what nutritionists suggest for a healthy regime, low carbohydrate and low fat meal plans potentially put dieters at a higher risk for developing health problems and diseases. Also, diet plans do not necessarily accomplish their goals when maintained over a long period of time. Diets set regulations on what should or shouldn t be part of a daily nutritional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The low carbohydrate diets recognize this and suggest that by nearly eliminating carbohydrates from the diet, it will prevent the human body from accumulating too much fat, and will force the body to burn already stored fats and proteins for energy instead. Low fat diets, on the other hand, claim that fatty foods are much easier to convert to body fat compared to carbohydrates. They also contend that complex carbohydrates are a better source of energy for the body, due to the fact that the body takes a longer amount of time to digest and thus process the carbohydrates. Altering the recommended nutritional schedule implies potential health risks and problems. Since the low carb diets like Atkins largely restricts the amount of carbohydrate intake, it limits along with it beneficial chemicals found in carbohydrates such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and antioxidants, that may help prevent heart disease, cancer, and other disorders.1 Also, a decrease of carbohydrates greatly increases the risk of osteoporosis which can lead to bone fractures, spinal collapse and nerve damage. The increase in fatty foods that results from the Atkins diet is also potentially harmful, and can increase the risk of heart disease and raises cholesterol levels. The increase of carbohydrate intake recommended by the low fat diets, however, can elevate blood sugar and blood fat amounts. This is also hazardous, particularly for individuals who are diabetic or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analysis of Beethoven Pathetique Sonata An application of Analysis of Beethoven s Pathetique piano sonata No. 8 inC minor, Op.13 with particular focus on musical features such as melody, thematic content, rhythm, form and structure, and harmony. Bent states that analysis is the means of answering the question, how does it work? According to Bent, analysis is a relatively young discipline analysis as a pursuit in its own right became established during the 19th century (Bent, 2006, p.13), although basic methods of analysis of music has been suggested to date back to the eighteenth century and have become a seductively compelling and important topic for music scholars over the last fifty years, and as a result, an extensive range of literature proclaims the value of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 8 in C minor, Op. 13 composed in 1798 focussing on musical features such as melody, thematic content, rhythm, form and structure and harmony. This sonata has been chosen for analysis as it is the most popular Beethoven sonata within the performance circuit, as it is a well known piece worldwide. Secondly, Beethoven developed Sonata form, adding more thematic contrast and contrasting melodies reflecting his own personal struggles with his progressive loss of hearing and also his failures in his love life which all contributed to the passion and despair that is depicted within the sonatas during his second compositional stage in his career. Firstly, I will discuss the methods used in order to analyse the Form and Structure of the piece. The emphasis in analysis was often given to the form and structure of the piece, especially during the nineteenth century as this allows performers to gain knowledge more directly regarding the overall style of the piece. The sonata is composed in Sonata form and is separated into three movements, firstly the Grave Allegro di molto e con brio movement, followed by the Adagio Cantabile middle movement and finally the Rondo Allegro movement. There are different meanings to the word structure in music, the first is to do with locating the different movements or the different sections of the piece and the second is to look at how the piece has been put ... • 8. Training, Training And Development It would seem that investment in learning, training and development are crucial for large organizations which believe that after the training, their employees would well develop and apply the new skills which they have learnt to benefit their organizations. However, many studies have shown that only ten percent of trainees apply what they have learnt from training to a job (Fitzatrick, 2001). However, learning, training and development will be considered to be one thing in this paper because while employees are training, they are learning new skill at the same time. Furthermore, after training they will develope their skill by applying it in their daily work. Therefore, this paper attempts to present what really happen in the training ... In Pre training activity, the training topic will be discussed in advance between supervisor and trainees, so there should be sufficient time for trainees to prepare (M. Saks A. and Belcourt M.,2006). Additionally, the supervisor should persuade and encourage their employees by defining them reasonable and practical goals, so they will know which areas they should focus on (M. Saks A. and Belcourt M.,2006). Nevertheless, some activities need the cooperation from organizations to control the system. First, organizations do not have to force trainees to attend every training class but offer them choices and allow them to choose what they are really interested in (Baldwin, Magjuka, Loher, 1991). Then, emphasis on the training participate inform them that attendance at training program is mandatory (M. Saks A. and Belcourt M., 2006, p636). Training activity during the training might take place in the formal training context or e learning which allow them to observe others working or learning by the theory (Holton et al., 2003; Noe, 1986; Tracey et al., 1995). By allowing employees to rotate though the different jobs in the restaurant it helps prevent employee burn out in some of the higher stress areas of the business. The cash register is one of these areas; employees are expected to have a constant outgoing, happy appearance with customers and having to deal with the never ending calls for takeout increases stress. On the other hand it allows for increased flexibility and shift coverage for the business owner. For instance, if one employee calls out sick and that employee were scheduled to be the pizza maker for that night, it would be relatively easy to shift another worker or call someone in to cover that position. This increased flexibility takes stress off of the business owner and the employees. The owner also does a good job at trying to give employees the opportunity for job enlargement; he allows employees to come up with specialty pizzas not on the menu for the week, and whichever employee has the bestselling pizza at the end of the month gets some kind of bonus. Many accept death over life, since life is embroiled with terminal illnesses which can be the means of a life of pain. Consequently, his account can be determined as blissful ignorance with no recognition to those with dysthymia, cancer, and other conditions which have no relational good. Another flaw in his argument is his failure to recognize that deprivation can be favorable. To be deprived of the evils in life can only be assumed as a good. Correspondingly, it is unreasonable to claim all deprivation as evil, especially when using potential as an argument potential can be the means for good or evil. Overall, the shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius contradicts the entire account of Nagel through their conviction that what one does not experience has no effect on the person. All of a sudden, I saw out of the corner of my eye a man on his stomach, floating, with little movement left in his body. So, I yelled out to him, Sir, are you okay? He did not answer. Immediately I became worried. I decided since he didn t answer I should pull him onto my boat and see what he s got going on. I speedily pulled him over the edge of my boat and out of the water. Then, as I was looking at his injuries and how I could help fix them I saw the japanese symbol on the sleeve of his right arm. This man was a Pearl Harbor bomber, I thought to myself. Although, he was in such bad condition If I didn t take care of him he would perish. I also knew, that no hospital would help him and if they did help him, they would make him be helped last so he would die before being helped. So, I decided to take him home and care for him individually at my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour Considered one of American s foremost feminist authors, Kate Chopin addresses issues challenging to the social and gender roles of the late 1800s. She celebrates women who seek their own identity and focuses on individual journeys of self discovery. Her short story The Story of an Hour has a unique structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who represents idealism. Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership of her own emotions and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges only upon her husband s supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional freedom, suggesting actions and feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional forces instead of individual will. In order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism, Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs. Mallard s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and choice within the bedroom and the world of deterministic forces on the other side of the door. Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy between the desire to change one s situation and the possibility to change one s situation. In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and determines one s fate. As the news of Brently Mallard s death arrives, family and friends are apprehensive to deliver the news to Mrs. Mallard. The caution, however, does not stem from genuine concern for her ... In the U.S., saying hello or goodbye with a hand wave is an acceptable gesture, yet in India a hand wave is a sign of saying go away . When communicating with another person it is an understood rule that there should be a one arm s length between the parties during conversation. Overall, when communicating within the Indian Culture, there are many ways to easily offend them. Education of their culture could have great benefits to communication and respect. When doing business or just simply greeting an Indian person, the last thing you want to happen is offend them or their culture. Knowing there are different ways of communicating between cultures will have a positive outcome from a business aspect and also a social aspect. The final cross cultural difference I will discuss is the collectivist culture of India versus the individualistic culture of the United States. India is more of a collectivist culture, whereas the U.S. is strongly individualistic. The family is at the center of Indian society, which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a family are brought together to live in one household. The hierarchical nature of the Indian culture extends into the family as well, where the head of the family makes the key decisions for the household (Kumar, 2005). An Indian s primary loyalty usually lies with their family rather than with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Odyssey By Homer Is Considered The First And Greatest... One man said, All men are created equal ; however, men treat women differently in today s culture. Society categorizes them as less intelligent, not capable of working in job fields such as construction, and generally less important than men. Because of these ideas, women do not have the same advantages as men. The importance is the effect it has on the progression of the future. Today, women have overcome most stereotypes, but there are still plenty remaining. Most stereotypes originate from ancient times, for example this theme is seen in the Odyssey, written by Homer, who is considered the first and greatest epic poet. Women face persecution daily through the media and society, yet the way society thinks towards them is changing. In the Odyssey, there is a demeaning description of women. The thought of how evil and useless women are shows up in all female characters. The main theory is women are possessions or prizes to be won. They are shown as malevolent, sinister beings with terrible intentions. Starting with Calypso, Homer describes her as evil and unfair. Calypso takes Odysseus captive and makes him become her boyfriend (Homer 485). There is no mention of Odysseus wanting to stay; therefore, it makes Calypso sound worse than she probably is. The reader infers how mean Calypso is when she says, Oh you vile gods, in jealousy supernal!/ You hate it when we choose to lie with men / immortal flesh by some dear mortal side [...] Surely I cannot send him,/ I have no ... Music Community And Text Analysis Analysis of How Texts Are Produced in the Music Community Since the beginning of my further learning and development in the way an individual enculturates oneself and communicates in a community, I have been vastly interested in the way musicians communicate through producing texts, and how artists become enculturated into the musical community. Writing and publishing is conducted in sets and genres. These genres and discourses are forms of life which integrate words, acts, values, beliefs, attitudes, and social identities as well as gestures, glances, body positions, and clothes (Gee para. 5) From my personal experience, being in a band and being an active member of the local music scene is followed by many stereotypes regarding artists as ... • 37. Pregnancy And The Birth Of A Fetus Since 1955, ultrasounds have been performed on pregnant women to search for imperfections and abnormalities during gestation. 1 These ultrasound machines use non ionizing sound waves to produce images of the growing fetus. When they re used in moderation and for diagnostic purposes only, they re considered safe. However, different studies have shown that there are possible harmful affects that can come from obstetric sonography that directly affect the fetus when they re improperly used. There are a variety of types of ultrasounds that an expecting woman can receive throughout the duration of a pregnancy. All of these types of ultrasounds use sound waves and have the same goal in tracking the gestational age of a fetus, growth and development, placental location, to detect irregularities that may occur throughout a woman s pregnancy, and to monitor amniotic fluid volume levels. 1 Obstetric sonography can affect a fetus by creating mechanical vibrations, heat, and air bubbles in the fluids of the baby s body. When women receive ultrasounds for medical use, they are performed by trained technologists, supervised by doctors, and the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) is applied during the exams. After the development of ultrasounds, people started to use them for entertainment purposes and to have a souvenir picture of the baby.2 These unnecessary exams were administered by untrained, unlicensed technicians, and often without a doctor s supervision. 3 ...
