Why Is Art Is A Terrible Thing And Should Not Exist
People have drastically different opinions on the use of artistry in writing. Plato for one, believes that
art is a terrible thing and should not exist because of its illusions. On the other hand, Patricia Smith
uses it to, create the desired impact or slam home a salient point. Smith did this by making up people
and their stories and writing quotes from them as if they were real. Smith s case is an example of why
Plato was intent on the end of artistry. Some artists use qualities of writing meant for fiction in their
nonfiction accounts. When they are discovered for breaking the rules of being a writer, they lose
things like their jobs and credibility. Just like Patricia Smith, Bartolomé de Las Casas wrote in a way
that is unethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because according to an article from the Smithsonian magazine, Las Casas made a major
calculation error, Some scholars estimate the Taino population may have reached more than 3 million
on Hispaniola alone as the 15th century grew to a close (Poole). His information does not line up and
is misleading in this section as well as when he portrays the Indians like docile people who are, Never
quarrelsome or belligerent or boisterous, they harbour no grudges and do not seek to settle old scores;
indeed the notions of revenge, rancour, and hatred are quite foreign to them (Las Casas 10). While it is
probable that many of the natives fit this description, it is also likely that many did not. This is a
generalization that would cause the audience to have incorrect pre assumed ideas about Indians living
in Latin America. Many parts of the Stearns and Smithsonian articles show the Aztec empire as a
strong one which had conquered lots of land, the Indian peoples and cultures were more resilient
(Stearns). Another accusation was that Since what a European will consume in a single day normally
supports three native house holds of ten persons each for a whole month (Las Casas 14).This just
sounds wrong reading it, and it would be rather ignorant for anyone to assume this was possible. On a
normal diet for a Native person, this would imply that a European ate 1,800,000

International Trade Theory Of Comparative Advantage And...
Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity to trade, theory
of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came up with the theory of absolute
advantage where the country that produces more of one good that another country has simply an
absolute advantage over it. This theory normally constructed with two commodities and two countries.
In Schuhmachers article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of doxography in the
history of economics he says, each nation can produce one good with less expenditure of human labor
than the other and thus more cheaply. (Schuhmachers, 2012) In this case, both countries will
specialize in only producing the commodity, which they have ... Show more content on

This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B can
produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and then
trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower
price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative
advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12
radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage
specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A
(Economics Online, 2017.)
Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range
below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the
importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However,
because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one
of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses.
Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. According to this theory,
one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect to the availability of the factors of
production. They

Soda Bottle Research Paper
The soda bottle is all to common today. It is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a durable yet a
feather light product. PET is used in many diverse products, such as polyester fabric, cable wraps,
films, transformer insulation, generator parts, and packaging. It contributes to about 6.4 percent of the
packaging industry and 14 percent of plastic containers, including but not at all limited to the common
soft drink bottle. Making up for 43 percent of those sold, PET is the mostly used soda drink container.
Aluminum, comes in second with 34 percent, while glass, which used to be the sole and only
contender, is now only a petite percentage of the material used for bottling.

the latter substance is continuously removed during polymerization and used to make more PET. After
the PET mixture reaches the required viscosity (thickness), it is cooled to avoid degradation and
discoloration. Later, it can be reheated for its various

Summary Of Arm Wrestling With My Father By Brad Manning
In Arm Wrestling with my Father by Brad Manning uses: symbolism, tone, and imagery throughout
his story. What Manning s Story is about is Manning and his father s tough love bond they share. The
story shows us on how Manning s father shows his affection towards his son, and its not by expressing
them verbally or giving him affection, and attention like his mother would. He would only show him
that he loved him through helping him in sports and arm wrestling. Throughout the story when
Manning gets older his father is at an old age where Manning can beat him. Manning let s his father
win because he felt sorry for his father and as Manning said his arms were the ones that protected
them (Manning 124). Manning knew further on the story his father ... Show more content on

Manning described it so well I could clearly picture it in my head when Manning said I d shout, and it
would start. And I would tense up, concentrating and strainging and trying to push his wrist down to
the carpet with all my weight and strength. But Dad would always win; I always had to lose (Manning
121). Manning would be upset but the word choice Manning uses for this section of the story is great
imagery.
Another reason Manning didn t beat his father was that he was getting to an age where he isn t as
strong as he use to be. Manning describes his father s arm at first when Manning was a strong tree
branch but since he came back from school during winter break he said his arm looks aged (para7).
Another great example Manning uses for imagery. The theme of Arm Wrestling with my father how
Manning father gradually changes his method of affection he displays towards his son once Manning
is older. In the beginning of the story Manning tells us how his father did not show any attention on
the other achievements his son made in school like orchestra or his writing, only in sports. For
example, as Manning said It was not because he wasn t proud of Manning, it was probably because he
just wanted his son to be tough and strong like him or better. Manning s father did love Manning, but
it was very difficult for him to show his son he

The Battle Of Power Over The Galaxy
In the year 3015 two big name pirate clans took the galaxy by storm as they made smaller and weaker
clans kneel before them. The names of these clans are Galactic Patriots and Supernova Spacehawks.
Of course they were enemies and their true goals were to annihilate one another before the gained too
much power, that day will come but for now I will tell you the story of what seemed like a victory and
only lead to failure. The rivalries have been long lived not just between the Galactic Patriots and the
Supernova Spacehawks but with the other clans as well. Every year there s a battle for power over the
galaxy typically clans that have done well before have a better chance of winning. The ones who have
won power the most are the Milky Way Steelers with 6 years won, the Asteroid Cowboys and the
Zenith 49ers both with 5 years won. Of course there are other clans who have won, but not as
successfully as these ones. To get to the top position they have to fight sector leaders and in this case
the Galactic Patriots had to fight the Nebula Ravens to gain control of their sector. The Supernova
Spacehawks on the other hand had to fight the Lightspeed Panthers to gain control. Then the they
would have to go on and fight everyone who took control of their sectors and fight for their system
which means the Galactic Patriots had to fight the Blazar Colts for control and the Supernova
Spacehawks had to fight the Megaparsec Packers and for control. The Patriots and the Spacehawks

Animated Sitcom Family Guy By Seth Macfarlane
In the television industry, it is difficult to find a truly successful animated television series that has had
more than three seasons on the air and still currently on the air. Often times, the shows that are
considered outstanding in their content tend to be live action shows. However, this is not the case for
the Seth MacFarlane s animated sitcom Family Guy throughout its 17 year life span. Although Family
Guy has undergone immense scrutiny for its crude humor and inappropriate behavior, it is those same
elements that make the show as humorous and entertaining as it is.
Merriam Webster dictionary defines success as, favorable or desired outcome; also: the attainment of
wealth, favor, or eminence (Merriam Webster, 2016). Family Guy s success on broadcast television
can be contributed to its edgy jokes and cutaway gags delivered by a voice cast portraying a nuclear
family in Quahog, Rhode Island. The family consists of father Peter Griffin (voiced by Seth
Macfarlane), mother Lois Griffin (voiced by Alex Borstein), daughter Meg Griffin (voiced by Mila
Kunis), son Chris Griffin (voiced by Seth Green), family baby Stewie Griffin (voiced by Seth
Macfarlane) and family dog Brian Griffin (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). Macfarlane, who does a
majority of the voice acting by voicing more than 8 multiple characters on the show, is also the
creator, executive producer, and creative consultant of the show (IMDb, 2016). Although he derives

Kenneth Dodge s Theory Of Juvenile Delinquency
Deviance among adolescents in our society has many different causes and multiple theories
throughout the history of criminal justice have been developed to attempt to explain, prevent and
reduce incidents of status offenses and juvenile delinquency. There are theories varying from
individual, to social and environmental. All of these theories have their merits and contribute in one
way or another to the advancement of the understanding of juvenile delinquency and the treatment and
prevention of delinquency within our society. Those that have proven to be successful we have applied
in our justice system while those that are proven over time to be ineffective or defective we have
discarded. There is no single theory that applies to all delinquent behavior in all situations. It is best to
determine what theory may work best in each specific case based on the individual and the specific
situation. Dodge s information processing theory of social problem solving (Crick and Dodge 1994)
was developed by Kenneth Dodge in an attempt to explain the interaction between the child s
cognitive development and their social environment. This theory combines elements of both the
individual and the social environment and examines how these two variables interact with each other
to present a model for juvenile delinquency. During my investigation of this topic I discovered that an
adapted model of Dodge s theory existed that seemed to be more encompassing of the causes of
juvenile delinquency,

Because it is so close to the equator, Costa Rica has a year round climate giving access to to a
selection of exotic Costa Rican fruits. Costa Rica also has rich volcanic soil which is great for growing

Compare And Contrast Caged Bird And Sympathy
In the poem, Caged Bird , by Maya Angelou, and the poem Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar, the
authors exemplify feelings of those being discriminated against in the actions and feelings of the birds.
The poets make contrasting and comparable stories, that relate in many ways and also contrast in
hidden but most important ways as well. The birds in the poems add morals and meaning by being so
alike and yet so different. The two authors description of the bird resemble one another. In the Caged
Bird , Maya Angelou discusses the state in which the Caged Bird is in. His wings are clipped and his
feet are tied (Angelou, 12,13). The Cage Bird in the is in pain and restrained from the freedom he
longs for. In Sympathy , Dunbar describes the Caged Bird in a very similar state. When his wings is
bruised and his bosom sore (Dunbar, 16). The bruising of the bird symbolizes physical restrainment,
but not mental. In both of the author s writing, Caged Bird is described in very similar manners; This
suggests that the two authors either have experienced being restrained from ... Show more content on

Philosophers During The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment philosophers were some of the smartest thinkers who changed the way people
think during the 16th and 17th century. The philosophers changed the way we live and think today.
These discussions helped shape the capitalistic, democratic world in which we live in today. There
were numerous great philosophers during this time period that taught us many different methods of
teaching and understanding new observations.
John Locke was a philosopher who was born in England 1632. He lived in England during both the
English civil war and the Glorious Revolution. Locke believed that all men are naturally in a state of
perfect freedom within the bounds of law of nature. He believed that only the middle and upper class

society. John Locke and Voltaire both had two very similar ideas about how people have the right to
choose what they want to do and that people are naturally free.
Adam Smith was born June, 1723 in a place called Kirkcaldy in The United Kingdom. Smith was a
supporter in economic decision making. He believed that individual work benefits themselves more
than a whole group would. He thinks that if everyone worked as an individual than the world would be
better. By pursuing his own interest he frequently promotes that of the society more than when he
really intends to promote it. Smith later died in on June, 19 1790 in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Mary Wollstonecraft was a British author who was born on April, 27 in a little town called Spitalfield.
Wollstonecraft was a novelist who wrote a history of the French Revolution, a travel journal, and a
children s book in addition to A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. She believes that women are
born with the same equal abilities as men. Her main idea is that all women should have equal
education. Wollstonecraft, Locke, Smith, And Voltaire all think that the main idea is equality of the

Impulsive, Irresponsible, Or Just Plain Essay
Some would consider Max impulsive, irresponsible, or just plain serendipitous because he loved to
shower his family with unexpected surprises. He hid candy in his overcoat pockets; when he arrived
home from work, the seven took turns guessing which pocket held the treats. The ultimate
serendipitous occasion occurred when he surprised them with the news they were getting a five foot
deep, twenty two foot wide, above ground swimming pool. Only one other house in the neighborhood
had an above ground pool, so that added to the element of surprise. They felt like they were the richest
family in the world.
Sitting on the sidewalk that ran along the sliding glass door, just off the kitchen facing the backyard,
all seven children sat like ducks in a row, watching the assembly of their new treasure. Max and
Hanna, along with Uncle John, walked all over the yard trying to decide the best place to put the pool.
Agreeing on the far right corner of the backyard, the swing set that kept them occupied the previous
summer was dismantled.
Katie, I didn t know we d have to give up the swing set. Can t we have both?
Guess not, Millie.
Millie pointed, Why is Dad making a big circle with that white stuff? It looks like the white chalk on a
football field.
Kate replied, I guess it s to mark where to put the pool.

Research Paper On Competitive Cheer
The world of competitive cheer has been a part of me for literally half of my life. This sport has
molded and instilled in me love, passion, determination, appreciation and loss with every practice and
competition. Every win and every loss happened for a reason. This is fate. This is destiny.
But what is destiny? What does it mean? Destiny is defined as your future or the pre ordained path of
your life. Sometimes you have to lose something to find your destiny. We, as a team, found ours this
past year.
Destiny was always smiling, making everyone laugh and had an enthusiastic spirit. Her smile was
contagious every time she paraded into the gym. She didn t like seeing anyone sad or cheerless.
Destiny was not only a teammate, she was a close friend. She was young, beautiful and taken from the
world too early. At this point, I knew we were more than just a team. We were now a family joined by
tragedy. We no longer thought of just ourselves, but each other. No one wanted to lose anyone else.
It was decided that we would dedicate our entire season to her. The devotion she had for the sport

and to make sure you hit a perfect routine at competitions. You appreciate the wins and hate the losses.
This sport has taught me all of these things. But because of Destiny, I have learned these things in a
different way. I love my teammates and family stronger now. I m heart felt and dedicated to make sure
I don t take anything for granted. I appreciate my coaches and teachers more because of the time they
dedicate to me. And I now know that by experiencing loss you sometimes

Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir Essay
Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir
Film Noir is a French word which means: dark or black film. This is very fitting as Film Noir and the
Maltese falcon are stories of dark deceptive people who often cannot be trusted. Film Noir is a good
example of this as the story is about a detective called Sam Spade who gets dragged into the quest for
the Maltese Falcon with a compulsive liar Kasper Gutman. The Maltese Falcon is a large bird made of
solid gold worth millions. The main six conventions of Film Noir as I can see are

left, the light on her face is very different. Her face is lit up so her whole face is visible, her eyes are

vulnerable and truthful, when is this instance Bridgid is the opposite. Another example is when Spade

face is visible but only the back of the other two investigators. There is only one lamp in this frame

case he is, but with the twists you are not sure.
Outdoor lighting is quite similar, outside scenes are usually lit by headlights and street lamps. A scene

As I Lay Dying Character Analysis
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your vision is clear, your whole body will be full of light (). Ever
since the creation of mankind, the eyes exist as the window to the soul. Taking one look into a person
s eyes can leave you with more knowledge than ever thought imagined. Love, anger, lust, hatred,
sympathy and guilt can all express themselves in just one glance. William Faulkner knew of this
interesting trait and applied it to his 19___ s novel As I Lay Dying . Each character possesses their
own unique traits and personalities which drive them to fulfill their end mission: burying their mother
in Jefferson. To express their personalities, Faulkner incorporates a variety of similes and metaphors
all relating to the eyes. This technique sheds light of their selfish ways. These selfish qualities, not the
love for their mother, cause the Bundren children to succeed in their mother s dying wish.

However, Jewel has a much different view of their journey. Jewel sees it as a way to make up to his
mother for not being there when she passed (Faulkner 48). Therefore, he does everything in his power
to get her there . . . including running into a burning barn and nearly drowning to save her coffin
(Faulkner 154 and 221). These acts, although seemingly heroic, arise as truly selfish and shallow.
These shallow acts can exist through Jewels pale eyes which look like wood (Faulkner 4). This simile
compares Jewel to a simple substance which mirrors how his actions towards his mother are self
absorbed. Wood is two dimensional and shallow. When Jewels refuses to let the past go and
continuously holds on to the idea of upsetting his mother, he in turn works for his own benefit. Jewel
seeks his mother s approval out of self absorption and not out of love; he acts shallow and hollow like
wood. In turn, Jewel ignores his siblings and continues to push towards

The Impact Of Music On The Music Industry
No one can deny that technology is actively changing the music industry. Production, distribution and
sales of music have been affected dramatically within the last 10 years along with artists, composers,
and technicians. Most of the changes have been great for consumers, but vastly negative for
professionals in the music industry, however a few artists have found ways to adapt to the changing
atmosphere of digitally downloaded music and use it to their advantage. We ve seen music change
form from physical, tangible products like records and CD s to electronic single tracks stored in an
invisible cloud. Two major factors in this sudden revolution are online music stores (specifically
iTunes) and file sharing websites that allow music to be downloaded illegally.
Since the iTunes music store was introduced on April 28, 2003, gross music sales have plummeted in
the United States from $11.8 billion in 2003 to $7.1 billion in 2012, according to the Recording
Industry Association of America (Covert). Counterintuitively, during that time consumers were buying
more music than ever. How is that possible? It s because iTunes had made digital singles popular and
was selling them cheap. This would change the music industry forever. In 2000, Americans bought
943 million CD albums (Covert), and digital sales didn t even make a dent in comparison. But by
2007, those inexpensive singles overtook CDs by a wide margin, generating 819 million sales
compared to just 500 million for the CD.

Treatment Of Women In The Roco Era
Coming after Baroque, Originating as décor in France, being one of the first worldwide forms of art
and spreading to Dresden, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Valencia, and Lisbon was the Rococo era (Bailey 4).
It was popular because of its visual allure ; however, the term Rococo during its time period, the 1699
to the 1770 s, was at first derogatory and used to defame the artistic style (Bailey 4, 18). The term
Rococo comes from the French word rocaille , which can be an ornamental pebble or the unique shell

Some women were recognized for their art skills. One of the attractions women artists had... was their
supposed ability to paint women and other feminine themes better than men (Bailey 109). Marie
Louise Élisabeth Vigée Lebrun was an extremely famous painter; she was the chief portraitist of
Queen Marie Antoinette. She also painted portraits for other famous people such as Empress Maria
Theresa of Austria, Czarina Catherine the Great of Russia, Queen Elizabeth of Prussia, and Prince
Regent of England (Bailey 111). Her making of these portraits for these high ranking people shows
how well she was recognized. Anguissola is another female who wanted to be recognized in the
Rococo era. She used her painting skills to demonstrate her social status (Bailey 110). In Sofonisba
Anguissola, a painting, she exhibited her aristocratic status through her rich velvet gown and lace
collar (Bailey 110). She used her skills in her art works to portray her power. In the Eighteenth century
France There were also women professional writers. Even though professional women writers were
vulnerable to bad publicity , writing gave women power (Thomason 12). Most of these women were
women who were restricted by the laws, and had to participate in the restrictive marriage system
(Thomason 1). Eliza Haywood was a professional writer who also wrote about her controversial
opinion on marriage along with other female writers such as Lady Wortley of Montagu, Dorothy
Osborne, and Mary Delany (Thomason 12). The writing format most commonly used in the eighteenth
century was the letter, which could be written in two ways: private and public. When the letters were
read as private documents they protected women s reputations (Thomason 13). Private letters made it
seem like women were complying with the social standards that were in place for them; however,
when the letters were read as public,

The Vision Of A Vision
Setting a vision is incredibly important. Because the people impacted by the change are aware of
exactly what the goals are and what is expected of them. If it is a compelling vision and people buy
into it then it is much easier to make the change happen but if people don t agree it makes the process
much harder. Also some people don t want to change how they do things and want to continue doing
things exactly how they were in the past (this is a problem). The way that the vision was created is by
providing both high level vision statements (long term goals) as well as much more tactical and
strategic guidelines for what to do in the short run. The vision is then provided to the team very often
and consistently through both emails and town halls from senior management as well as from projects
and day to do workload from the directors which ties the work to the long term vision. It is important
that people understand how what they are doing is connected to the larger goals. It is also important to
acknowledge and reinforce that change takes time and that there is a long term view on success.
The strategies used to achieve the vision included: Providing team training on new tools and
technologies to make sure that everyone no matter where they came from before had the same
foundation to be able to do the job going forward. The vision was repeated and made clear constantly
and consistently so that everyone knew what the goals were and what they were working towards.

Huckleberry Finn Moral Lessons Essay
Learning Moral Lessons The book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is based of social comments
and moral lessons presented by an amazing writer Mark Twain. Mark Twain as an author has
incorporated these lessons in secret but obvious ways throughout his writing. He mentions some that
include, don t treat people different just because of their race. Secondly, he mentions the importance of
friendship. Finally, he shows how Huck Finn learns that his vision of the right thing to do is different
from the vision of society s. These moral lessons are portrayed in many examples throughout the
book. The first lesson Mark Twain addresses in the story is about people being a different race. Mark

Jim and Huck develop a special friendship which grows until the end of the book. It all starts when
Huck ran away from the cabin he was living in with his father. Huck then meets Jim on the island and
Jim doesn t believe it s him, he thought it was Huck s ghost because Jim had heard Huck died earlier
before he ran away. That is where Huck and Jim s journey of friendship had begun. They continued to
have a bond as they traveled down the river to try to make Jim a free slave. Huck and Jim helped each
other in different ways. Jim helped Huck survive by catching food for them to eat and just providing
comfort to him as Huck s father had never done before hand. Huck had helped Jim with the education

Jim gets put into the cellar, Huck was willing to do anything. This included eating sawdust after they
sawed the bed leg off which helped Jim get out, or get blistered hands from digging the hole. This
goes to show that Huck has a heart it doesn t matter if Jim is a nigger or not that Huck is willing to do

A Narrative On The Captivity And Restoration Of Mrs. Mary...
In my paper, I will be writing about the historical context of Mary Rowlandson s, A Narrative on the
Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson. I am going to look at the entire historical
background of Rowlandson s narrative. The way I am going to explore this is how the readers back
then would have interpreted Roland s reference to Biblical verses, and her questioning of God s role
during her captivity. I plan on using at least 2 sources for this assignment. Mary White Rowlandson
was a colonial woman in America who was captured during the King Philip s War by the Native
Americans. While she was captured, she was held for eleven weeks, and then after she was released,
she wrote A Narrative of the Captivity and restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, which is also known
as The Sovereignty and Goodness of God. During these weeks, she experienced physical abuse,
starvation, and saw many friends, and her youngest daughter Sarah killed. This story is considered to
be one of America s first bestsellers when it was first publish in 1682. Mary was born in 1637, in
England and moved to present day New England when she was a child. Growing up her father helped
found the town of Lancaster, and was one of the wealthiest men there. In 1656 at the age of 19, Mary
married Reverend Joseph Rowlandson. Together, the couple has four children, three of which survived
infancy. When the war broke out between the Native Americans and the English settler, Mary and her
kids were captured.

adventure, and its main subject is a broken parent s boy s survival in forest.
Summary: Brian was a sad boy whose parent got divorced, and he had to stay with father for the

went down to the forest, to the trees, but slid down to a lake. Brian, with a hatchet and a windbreaker

Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin s The Storm : Trouble on the Horizon
The Storm by Kate Chopin melds the theme of romantic love with those of rebellion and conformity.
In the story, Chopin gives readers an account of a meteorological disturbance that sweeps through a
town leaving a family to seek shelter until the storms passing. The wife of the story Calixta is at the
family s home while her husband Bobint and child Bibi are seeking refuge at Friedheimer s store. Bibi
is deeply concerned for his mother s safety and begins to question and seek reassurance for Calixta
from his father. Bibi implores by saying, Mama ll be fraid, yes, he suggested with blinking eyes (1).
His father attempts to reassure him by saying She ll shut the house. Maybe she got Sylvie helpin her
this evenin (1). Bibi knew differently but eventually settles and is comforted by his father and his
unwavering confidence for Calixta s safety. While readers are preoccupied with the storm and the
uncertainty it holds, Kate Chopin begins to scribe an unending metaphor that carries the entire plot of
the story. Calixta goes out to gather Bobint s Sunday clothes before the rain starts and to her surprise
Alce Laballire comes riding up. Calixta is nervous with Alce in the house, she stands at the window
gazing out while making small talk with him. Lightning strikes and Calixta grabs her eyes and
stumbles backwards where Alce s arms are waiting. The tension between the two has been building,
when Calixta staggers back from

My Career In Nursing
During my long journey in nursing school, I realized that the idea I had of the nursing career and the
reality of it are two different things. Before starting in this path the only knowledge that I had about
the medical field was of caring and helping some sick family members. Eventually, those experiences
awoke a feeling in me to help those in need. Later on, that feeling turned into a calling, and that was
what influenced me to pursue a career in nursing. Nursing is the nation s largest health care
profession. At all times more nurses are needed to meet the growing demand for nursing care. But in
order to be a nurse you cannot enter into this profession with a money sign on your head. People are
not machines. What guide my practice are my personal philosophies, which are centered on my
strengths beliefs and personal values.
Personally, I think that to be in this field of work you need patience and critical thinking. Nurses need
to be caring, and we need to be prepared to handle any type of situation. In the health care field is
important to use a hands on approach. Nurses are not machines we are human beings. It is important
to treat our patients as human beings too, with a caring touch and respect (Cable, 2009). Nurses act as
patient advocates we are their voice, we need to be sure to meet all our client needs within our scope
of practice. As nurses we need to put our cultural values aside and use ethical values, we cannot be
judges or juries. I am going to use my

The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and...
The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems
Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a
wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in, it
is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and finally
hatred.
Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The
symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one
loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. The placement of nulla at the beginning of the lines gives it great
importance and stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut vulgus
amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for Lesbia also had a
non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love. However the quondam is
significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and Catullus s feeling has since changed.
nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly, ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia
and he can no longer view her with affection even though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is
juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them.
Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem
72 generally creates a strong contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia.
He chooses particularly emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of
Catullus s passion and vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes
how much Lesbia has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria
talis cogit amare magis, sed bene velle minus, is clear and logical, given Catullus s

The Magician s Nephew Research Paper
The Magician s Nephew The Magician s Nephew is an amazing story written by C.S.Lewis. He was a
famous writer,
and he wrote the Chronicles of Narnia. These books are based of the Bible, and Aslan, a strong
lion, is God in Narnia. This paper will be uncovering the similarities, differences and viewpoints
about God and Aslan.
Aslan has many similarities with God. In the Magician s Nephew, Aslan created everything in
Narnia (Lewis 123). God created the Earth and everything it contained (Genesis 1). They both
created and rule over the worlds. (Lewis 9 10), (Whole Bible). Another trait they both have is
they are merciful (Lewis 12 13) (Bible).
Although Aslan and God are similar, they are also very different to. God created everything ... Show

Also, Gods
creatures do not talk, except for the humans (Genesis). Aslan chose special animals to talk and to
have great minds (Lewis 9). Aslan created every animal, but he never created humans as God did
(Lewis 9 10), (Genesis). In the book, Aslan did make two humans rule, but he did not create
them, they came into his world (Lewis 11).
Now the viewpoint, and the answer for me is yes, I do believe Aslan is God. One reason I
believe is that there is actually a song that sings God is like a lion, (Newsboys song). I also
believe this because in The Magician s Nephew Aslan quotes, You know better than you think
you know,... (Lewis 11). This is proving to me that Aslan is God. I have one more reason;
Aslan is a lion. (Lewis 9). In the Bible, God is referred to as The Lion and the Lamb , or

Rhetorical Analysis Of Professionss For Women By Virginia...
Virginia Woolf is a famous novelist, critic, and essayist. She is most known for her novels such as:
Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, The Common Reader, and several more. These novels are both
fiction and nonfiction, and include compelling psychological insight. Professions for Women is
another one of her famous works, and it is the shortened version of a speech that Virginia Woolf gave
on January 21, 1931 to the Women s Service League. In this speech, Woolf conveyed her message
about women in the professional world through the use of multiple rhetorical strategies. These
strategies include her use of understatements, a variety of tones throughout the speech, and the
inclusion of differing sentence structures involving both short sentences and complex sentences.
Overall, Woolf has a strong belief that women should be free to work in the professional world, and
she conveys this quite well through the use of these strategies. To begin, at the start of this speech
Woolf utilized various understatements about herself, and when combined they both contributed vastly
to helping Woolf convey her message. For example, in the first paragraph, Woolf poses a rhetorical
question that states, It is true I am a woman; it is true I am employed; but what professional
experiences have I had? Woolf is considered to be one of the most significant modernists of her
century, yet in this question, she seems to believe that she is not worthy of giving this speech. This
helps to convey her message because to the audience, Woolf seems more like a peer than a superior
figure. By making herself seem more like a peer, Woolf has effectively made herself more trustworthy
and relatable to the audience. Continuing, in the second paragraph, Woolf makes yet another
understatement of herself by stating, But to tell you my story it is a simple one. Considering that
Woolf is one of the most valuable modernists of her century, she is anything but simple. Yet by
making this statement to the audience, she is allowing them insight into her personality and what she
thinks of herself. Through this statement, Woolf has proved her humility and that she views herself as
just another human being. The first understatement allowed her to be more

He was a benevolent boss.
CASE ANALYSIS
1. The main reason for the decaying employee morale was the quick growth of the business. Dr. Perry
s employees were well compensated at competitive market rates and enjoyed a pleasant working
environment. The annual growth of the business (15%) meant that his employees were making
relatively less money than Dr. Perry himself. The current pay structure did not have any provision for
any category of employees to earn a proportion of the profits. Every employee has a fixed hourly
salary. Thus, a bigger business meant that they felt like slave labourers since they were aware of the
increase in the practice s revenues and number of patients.
2. Dr. Perry s revenues largely depended on the hygienists who generated about 40% of the revenues.
Even the receptionists played a vital role in adding to the revenue by filling in cancelled appointments.
His assistants too contributed by playing the role of nurses by comforting the patients which further
helped in patient retention. Thus it would seem only fair that a part of the profits must be shared with
the employees in the form of a variable pay structure.
3. As per the conference which Dr. Perry had attended, the first approach of remunerating the
employees focused on the contribution of the hygienists only. As per this approach, the hygienists
would be paid purely on a commission basis of around 40% of the total earnings. The main
advantages of this system are:

Textual Analysis Of Rhetoric
The word rhetoric has multiple origins, but it s mainly from French and Latin. The definition of the
word is meant to use to persuade or influence others. This was the study of principles and rules to be

Rhetoric is normally advertised we see on social media or T.V. aiming to try to persuade us to buy into
what they are selling. However, manipulation is also a type of advertisement aimed to change our
point of view into what they want. But manipulation uses a series of tactics that will force you to
change your mind. Manipulation can include physiological or physical strategies used to alter the final
outcome in their favor.

Boxing
Roberto Hands of Stone Duran once said: Getting hit motivates me. It makes me punish the guy more.
A fighter takes a punch, hits back with three punches. Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in
boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and
successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical
condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone,
cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength.
One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t
create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By
punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other
sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make
them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in
having well toned muscles. By boxing, bones gain power and size; therefore, the proportions of
muscles are affected in a positive way. When bones get stronger, muscles ... Show more content on

By punching and moving the hips, arms and legs constantly gain power and endurance. The oblique,
shoulders, back, and many more muscles are contracted. For example, throwing a punch makes
deltoids work in synergy with the pectorals, contracting the trapezius for another punch. This example
clearly demonstrates how boxing improves strength in a very good way and how it involves a vast
quantity of muscles. One of boxing´s best attributes is giving the ability to defend yourself. It properly
teaches how to block a punch, dodge a strike, and hit properly. Because of this, you will be able to
defend yourself in any situation (even without hitting your opponent) and leave with no harm done to
your physical

Little Guppies Case Study

.1. How does the child react to frustration/disappointment?
On 11/4 Teddy (15 months) was observed getting upset when a Velcro toy was put around his wrist.
He expressed his frustration by looking at the toy and his face showed an annoyed expression as he
put his arm out to the teacher and looks at her. When she does not take it off for him, he resorts to
making the frustrated face accompanied with a whining sound and some mumbling then the teach took
the toy off his wrist.
On 10/24 Teddy dealt with disappointment in a similar way. He wanted to go up in the loft, and he
asked by looking at me and making his whining sound. When I told him he could not go up there right
now he whined louder and it turned into more of a crying sound but without any tears.

Teddy had been carrying and pushing around the wooden block toy (with the different contraptions on
every side of the block). Teddy and Ellen were pulling the toy back and forth between each other.
Teddy would make his frustration face as they pulled but Teddy gave up and went to go play
somewhere else after Ellen kept pulling.
3. How does the child react to fear/anxiety? Describe the situation in detail. _____/2 pts
While I have never seen Teddy in a state of fear or anxiety, I have heard that he does not like the
presence of curtain individuals. Katie told me of a situation on 11/15 where Mary came into the room
to help JJ and Teddy would scream until someone would pick him up, or if she would go in the play
area, since he was in the kitchen eating lunch.

My Last Day
One of those summer nights with your friends when you just want to go out and have the time of your
life , yea this was the night. I started off the day with excitement knowing it was the last day of junior
year of highschool and how great this summer was going to be but the mood was just off it didnt seem
like the last day of school.I got home from school and was just so relived i had no more work to worry
about and i can just enjoy my days relaxing and hanging out with my friends. For weeks now my
friends have been wanting to plan a trip or a one day trip or something exciting to get us away from
our boring lives. A couple of ideas were stirring around like going camping for a night in a tent in the
moutains in Pennsylavannia or traveling down to Boston for the weekend to go to Fenway to watch
the Redsox but couldnt decided. We got together to figure it out at my friends house Dominic ,who
lived in the ghetto with a bunch of siblings that never left anybody alone when Dominic had people
come over. But his parents were the only ones that didnt mind all four of us coming over . But
anyways deciding it took awhile it felt like all night, my two friends jake and cole who were both
cheap and didnt like spening any money what so ever wanted to go camping in a tent because it would
hardly cost us anything and me and dominic wanted to go to fenway because we never have been
there before and it would be a good expiernece. Dominic and I just decided to camping for the night in

Common Gastrointestinal ( Gi ) Medical Emergency
Pathophysiology Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common gastrointestinal (GI) medical
emergency that occurs in neonates. Although it commonly affects premature babies, it can happen in
term babies as well. It usually occurs during the first two to four weeks of life in premature babies and
in one to three days for up to one month in term babies. For the premature babies, their organs are not
fully developed and it puts them at risk for disease. It is an acute inflammatory disease that is
characterized by damage to the intestinal tract and can range from mucosal injury (the lining of the
intestines), to full thickness necrosis (where the tissue dies) and perforation (where there is a hole in
the intestine. The exact cause is unknown but some ideas are that babies have underdeveloped
intestines, there may have been too little oxygen or blood flow to the intestines, injury to the intestinal
tract, a heavy growth of bacteria in the intestines that erodes the intestinal wall, and formula feedings.
Although NEC can occur anywhere in the intestines and colon, it commonly affects the terminal ileum
(where the small intestine connects to the large intestine) and the proximal ascending colon.
Assessment
A baby with NEC may present with one or more of the following signs or symptoms: a swollen, red,
or tender belly, that increased in girth; a feeding intolerance; delayed gastric emptying; decreased
bowel sounds; constipation, diarrhea or bloody stools; a low or unstable

  • 2. Why Is Art Is A Terrible Thing And Should Not Exist People have drastically different opinions on the use of artistry in writing. Plato for one, believes that art is a terrible thing and should not exist because of its illusions. On the other hand, Patricia Smith uses it to, create the desired impact or slam home a salient point. Smith did this by making up people and their stories and writing quotes from them as if they were real. Smith s case is an example of why Plato was intent on the end of artistry. Some artists use qualities of writing meant for fiction in their nonfiction accounts. When they are discovered for breaking the rules of being a writer, they lose things like their jobs and credibility. Just like Patricia Smith, Bartolomé de Las Casas wrote in a way that is unethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because according to an article from the Smithsonian magazine, Las Casas made a major calculation error, Some scholars estimate the Taino population may have reached more than 3 million on Hispaniola alone as the 15th century grew to a close (Poole). His information does not line up and is misleading in this section as well as when he portrays the Indians like docile people who are, Never quarrelsome or belligerent or boisterous, they harbour no grudges and do not seek to settle old scores; indeed the notions of revenge, rancour, and hatred are quite foreign to them (Las Casas 10). While it is probable that many of the natives fit this description, it is also likely that many did not. This is a generalization that would cause the audience to have incorrect pre assumed ideas about Indians living in Latin America. Many parts of the Stearns and Smithsonian articles show the Aztec empire as a strong one which had conquered lots of land, the Indian peoples and cultures were more resilient (Stearns). Another accusation was that Since what a European will consume in a single day normally supports three native house holds of ten persons each for a whole month (Las Casas 14).This just sounds wrong reading it, and it would be rather ignorant for anyone to assume this was possible. • 3. International Trade Theory Of Comparative Advantage And... Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity to trade, theory of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came up with the theory of absolute advantage where the country that produces more of one good that another country has simply an absolute advantage over it. This theory normally constructed with two commodities and two countries. In Schuhmachers article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of doxography in the history of economics he says, each nation can produce one good with less expenditure of human labor than the other and thus more cheaply. (Schuhmachers, 2012) In this case, both countries will specialize in only producing the commodity, which they have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B can produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and then trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A (Economics Online, 2017.) Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However, because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses. Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. According to this theory, one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect to the availability of the factors of production. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It contributes to about 6.4 percent of the packaging industry and 14 percent of plastic containers, including but not at all limited to the common soft drink bottle. Making up for 43 percent of those sold, PET is the mostly used soda drink container. What Manning s Story is about is Manning and his father s tough love bond they share. The story shows us on how Manning s father shows his affection towards his son, and its not by expressing them verbally or giving him affection, and attention like his mother would. He would only show him that he loved him through helping him in sports and arm wrestling. Throughout the story when Manning gets older his father is at an old age where Manning can beat him. Manning let s his father win because he felt sorry for his father and as Manning said his arms were the ones that protected them (Manning 124). Manning knew further on the story his father ... Manning would be upset but the word choice Manning uses for this section of the story is great imagery. Another reason Manning didn t beat his father was that he was getting to an age where he isn t as strong as he use to be. Manning describes his father s arm at first when Manning was a strong tree branch but since he came back from school during winter break he said his arm looks aged (para7). Another great example Manning uses for imagery. The theme of Arm Wrestling with my father how Manning father gradually changes his method of affection he displays towards his son once Manning is older. In the beginning of the story Manning tells us how his father did not show any attention on the other achievements his son made in school like orchestra or his writing, only in sports. • 6. The Battle Of Power Over The Galaxy In the year 3015 two big name pirate clans took the galaxy by storm as they made smaller and weaker clans kneel before them. The names of these clans are Galactic Patriots and Supernova Spacehawks. Of course they were enemies and their true goals were to annihilate one another before the gained too much power, that day will come but for now I will tell you the story of what seemed like a victory and only lead to failure. The rivalries have been long lived not just between the Galactic Patriots and the Supernova Spacehawks but with the other clans as well. Every year there s a battle for power over the galaxy typically clans that have done well before have a better chance of winning. The ones who have won power the most are the Milky Way Steelers with 6 years won, the Asteroid Cowboys and the Zenith 49ers both with 5 years won. Of course there are other clans who have won, but not as successfully as these ones. To get to the top position they have to fight sector leaders and in this case the Galactic Patriots had to fight the Nebula Ravens to gain control of their sector. The Supernova Spacehawks on the other hand had to fight the Lightspeed Panthers to gain control. Then the they would have to go on and fight everyone who took control of their sectors and fight for their system which means the Galactic Patriots had to fight the Blazar Colts for control and the Supernova Spacehawks had to fight the Megaparsec Packers and for control. • 7. Animated Sitcom Family Guy By Seth Macfarlane In the television industry, it is difficult to find a truly successful animated television series that has had more than three seasons on the air and still currently on the air. Often times, the shows that are considered outstanding in their content tend to be live action shows. However, this is not the case for the Seth MacFarlane s animated sitcom Family Guy throughout its 17 year life span. Although Family Guy has undergone immense scrutiny for its crude humor and inappropriate behavior, it is those same elements that make the show as humorous and entertaining as it is. Merriam Webster dictionary defines success as, favorable or desired outcome; also: the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence (Merriam Webster, 2016). Family Guy s success on broadcast television can be contributed to its edgy jokes and cutaway gags delivered by a voice cast portraying a nuclear family in Quahog, Rhode Island. The family consists of father Peter Griffin (voiced by Seth Macfarlane), mother Lois Griffin (voiced by Alex Borstein), daughter Meg Griffin (voiced by Mila Kunis), son Chris Griffin (voiced by Seth Green), family baby Stewie Griffin (voiced by Seth Macfarlane) and family dog Brian Griffin (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). All of these theories have their merits and contribute in one way or another to the advancement of the understanding of juvenile delinquency and the treatment and prevention of delinquency within our society. Those that have proven to be successful we have applied in our justice system while those that are proven over time to be ineffective or defective we have discarded. There is no single theory that applies to all delinquent behavior in all situations. It is best to determine what theory may work best in each specific case based on the individual and the specific situation. Dodge s information processing theory of social problem solving (Crick and Dodge 1994) was developed by Kenneth Dodge in an attempt to explain the interaction between the child s cognitive development and their social environment. This theory combines elements of both the individual and the social environment and examines how these two variables interact with each other to present a model for juvenile delinquency. During my investigation of this topic I discovered that an adapted model of Dodge s theory existed that seemed to be more encompassing of the causes of juvenile delinquency, ... The ultimate serendipitous occasion occurred when he surprised them with the news they were getting a five foot deep, twenty two foot wide, above ground swimming pool. Only one other house in the neighborhood had an above ground pool, so that added to the element of surprise. They felt like they were the richest family in the world. Sitting on the sidewalk that ran along the sliding glass door, just off the kitchen facing the backyard, all seven children sat like ducks in a row, watching the assembly of their new treasure. Ever since the creation of mankind, the eyes exist as the window to the soul. Taking one look into a person s eyes can leave you with more knowledge than ever thought imagined. Love, anger, lust, hatred, sympathy and guilt can all express themselves in just one glance. William Faulkner knew of this interesting trait and applied it to his 19___ s novel As I Lay Dying . Each character possesses their own unique traits and personalities which drive them to fulfill their end mission: burying their mother in Jefferson. These acts, although seemingly heroic, arise as truly selfish and shallow. These shallow acts can exist through Jewels pale eyes which look like wood (Faulkner 4). • 19. The Impact Of Music On The Music Industry No one can deny that technology is actively changing the music industry. Production, distribution and sales of music have been affected dramatically within the last 10 years along with artists, composers, and technicians. Most of the changes have been great for consumers, but vastly negative for professionals in the music industry, however a few artists have found ways to adapt to the changing atmosphere of digitally downloaded music and use it to their advantage. We ve seen music change form from physical, tangible products like records and CD s to electronic single tracks stored in an invisible cloud. Two major factors in this sudden revolution are online music stores (specifically iTunes) and file sharing websites that allow music to be downloaded illegally. Since the iTunes music store was introduced on April 28, 2003, gross music sales have plummeted in the United States from $11.8 billion in 2003 to $7.1 billion in 2012, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (Covert). Counterintuitively, during that time consumers were buying more music than ever. How is that possible? It s because iTunes had made digital singles popular and was selling them cheap. This would change the music industry forever. In 2000, Americans bought 943 million CD albums (Covert), and digital sales didn t even make a dent in comparison. But by 2007, those inexpensive singles overtook CDs by a wide margin, generating 819 million sales compared to just 500 million for the CD. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Treatment Of Women In The Roco Era Coming after Baroque, Originating as décor in France, being one of the first worldwide forms of art and spreading to Dresden, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Valencia, and Lisbon was the Rococo era (Bailey 4). It was popular because of its visual allure ; however, the term Rococo during its time period, the 1699 to the 1770 s, was at first derogatory and used to defame the artistic style (Bailey 4, 18). The term Rococo comes from the French word rocaille , which can be an ornamental pebble or the unique shell work found in aristocratic gardens (Bailey 18). • 22. The Vision Of A Vision Setting a vision is incredibly important. Because the people impacted by the change are aware of exactly what the goals are and what is expected of them. If it is a compelling vision and people buy into it then it is much easier to make the change happen but if people don t agree it makes the process much harder. Also some people don t want to change how they do things and want to continue doing things exactly how they were in the past (this is a problem). The way that the vision was created is by providing both high level vision statements (long term goals) as well as much more tactical and strategic guidelines for what to do in the short run. The vision is then provided to the team very often and consistently through both emails and town halls from senior management as well as from projects and day to do workload from the directors which ties the work to the long term vision. It is important that people understand how what they are doing is connected to the larger goals. It is also important to acknowledge and reinforce that change takes time and that there is a long term view on success. The strategies used to achieve the vision included: Providing team training on new tools and technologies to make sure that everyone no matter where they came from before had the same foundation to be able to do the job going forward. Before starting in this path the only knowledge that I had about the medical field was of caring and helping some sick family members. Eventually, those experiences awoke a feeling in me to help those in need. Later on, that feeling turned into a calling, and that was what influenced me to pursue a career in nursing. Nursing is the nation s largest health care profession. At all times more nurses are needed to meet the growing demand for nursing care. But in order to be a nurse you cannot enter into this profession with a money sign on your head. People are not machines. What guide my practice are my personal philosophies, which are centered on my strengths beliefs and personal values. Personally, I think that to be in this field of work you need patience and critical thinking. Nurses need to be caring, and we need to be prepared to handle any type of situation. In the health care field is important to use a hands on approach. Nurses are not machines we are human beings. It is important to treat our patients as human beings too, with a caring touch and respect (Cable, 2009). The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in, it is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and finally hatred. Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. The placement of nulla at the beginning of the lines gives it great importance and stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut vulgus amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for Lesbia also had a non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love. However the quondam is significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and Catullus s feeling has since changed. nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly, ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia and he can no longer view her with affection even though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them. Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem 72 generally creates a strong contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia. He chooses particularly emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of Catullus s passion and vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes how much Lesbia has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria talis cogit amare magis, sed bene velle minus, is clear and logical, given Catullus s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These books are based of the Bible, and Aslan, a strong lion, is God in Narnia. This paper will be uncovering the similarities, differences and viewpoints about God and Aslan. Aslan has many similarities with God. In the Magician s Nephew, Aslan created everything in Narnia (Lewis 123). God created the Earth and everything it contained (Genesis 1). • 39. Rhetorical Analysis Of Professionss For Women By Virginia... Virginia Woolf is a famous novelist, critic, and essayist. She is most known for her novels such as: Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, The Common Reader, and several more. These novels are both fiction and nonfiction, and include compelling psychological insight. Professions for Women is another one of her famous works, and it is the shortened version of a speech that Virginia Woolf gave on January 21, 1931 to the Women s Service League. In this speech, Woolf conveyed her message about women in the professional world through the use of multiple rhetorical strategies. These strategies include her use of understatements, a variety of tones throughout the speech, and the inclusion of differing sentence structures involving both short sentences and complex sentences. Overall, Woolf has a strong belief that women should be free to work in the professional world, and she conveys this quite well through the use of these strategies. To begin, at the start of this speech Woolf utilized various understatements about herself, and when combined they both contributed vastly to helping Woolf convey her message. For example, in the first paragraph, Woolf poses a rhetorical question that states, It is true I am a woman; it is true I am employed; but what professional experiences have I had? Woolf is considered to be one of the most significant modernists of her century, yet in this question, she seems to believe that she is not worthy of giving this speech. This helps to convey her message because to the audience, Woolf seems more like a peer than a superior figure. By making herself seem more like a peer, Woolf has effectively made herself more trustworthy and relatable to the audience. Continuing, in the second paragraph, Woolf makes yet another understatement of herself by stating, But to tell you my story it is a simple one. Considering that Woolf is one of the most valuable modernists of her century, she is anything but simple. Yet by making this statement to the audience, she is allowing them insight into her personality and what she thinks of herself. Through this statement, Woolf has proved her humility and that she views herself as just another human being. The first understatement allowed her to be more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was a benevolent boss. CASE ANALYSIS 1. The main reason for the decaying employee morale was the quick growth of the business. Dr. Perry s employees were well compensated at competitive market rates and enjoyed a pleasant working environment. The annual growth of the business (15%) meant that his employees were making relatively less money than Dr. Perry himself. The current pay structure did not have any provision for any category of employees to earn a proportion of the profits. Every employee has a fixed hourly salary. Thus, a bigger business meant that they felt like slave labourers since they were aware of the increase in the practice s revenues and number of patients. 2. Dr. Perry s revenues largely depended on the hygienists who generated about 40% of the revenues. Even the receptionists played a vital role in adding to the revenue by filling in cancelled appointments. His assistants too contributed by playing the role of nurses by comforting the patients which further helped in patient retention. Thus it would seem only fair that a part of the profits must be shared with the employees in the form of a variable pay structure. 3. As per the conference which Dr. Perry had attended, the first approach of remunerating the employees focused on the contribution of the hygienists only. As per this approach, the hygienists would be paid purely on a commission basis of around 40% of the total earnings. The main

Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone, cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength. One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. • 48. Common Gastrointestinal ( Gi ) Medical Emergency Pathophysiology Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common gastrointestinal (GI) medical emergency that occurs in neonates. Although it commonly affects premature babies, it can happen in term babies as well. It usually occurs during the first two to four weeks of life in premature babies and in one to three days for up to one month in term babies. For the premature babies, their organs are not fully developed and it puts them at risk for disease. It is an acute inflammatory disease that is characterized by damage to the intestinal tract and can range from mucosal injury (the lining of the intestines), to full thickness necrosis (where the tissue dies) and perforation (where there is a hole in the intestine. The exact cause is unknown but some ideas are that babies have underdeveloped intestines, there may have been too little oxygen or blood flow to the intestines, injury to the intestinal tract, a heavy growth of bacteria in the intestines that erodes the intestinal wall, and formula feedings. Although NEC can occur anywhere in the intestines and colon, it commonly affects the terminal ileum (where the small intestine connects to the large intestine) and the proximal ascending colon.
