3. Bexar County Emergency Management
In today s world, emergencies of all types occur frequently. They include floods, hurricanes,
earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, infectious diseases, wildfires, anthrax threats, riots and civil
disturbance, and terrorism, to name a few. There must be plans already in place to deal with the
potential hazards and detriments of these emergencies. Preparedness in the field of emergency
management is defined as a state of readiness to respond to a disaster, crisis, or any other type of
emergency situation (FEMA, 2016). There are five phases of emergency management: prevention,
preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation (Bexar County Emergency Management, n.d.).
Prevention is the first phase of emergency management. While not all disasters can be prevented,
preventive measures are designed to provide more permanent protection from disasters. Well

This article was written by Mary Grigsby with the intent to explain the massive worldwide
phenomenon of the manga, and later anime, Sailor Moon and how it was so effectively spread across
different cultures. Sailor Moon made its first appearance as a manga serialized in the magazine
Nakayosi before being adapted into an anime that began airing in March of 1992. The anime was
introduced to the United States in 1995, a year in which it was already the number one action show for
children in five other countries (Grigsby 59). Sailor Moon continued to grow in popularity with
musicals, films, CDs, video games, and status as a 1.5 billion dollar merchandise franchise (Grigsby

Many manga and anime characters began to resemble westerners, such as Sailor Moon s blonde hair
and blue eyes, after the American occupation of Japan in which western physical looks were seen as
ideal (Grigsby 69). Sailor Moon s large eyes are also seen as romantic, innocent, and feminine, which
are desirable characteristics associated with women in Japan. However, Sailor Moon was still able to
transform and fight like a superhero with these juvenile characteristics. These characteristics are not
just desirable to the young girls who want to be as powerful and beautiful as Sailor Moon, but also are
adored by older men who see the Sailor Scouts as sexual playthings (Grisby 72). The internet has also
made Sailor Moon more readily available to both older men and for fans around the world who are
able to access translations of the manga, furthering Sailor Moon s status as a global commodity. In
conclusion, Sailor Moon had the potential for status as a global commodity because of how the anime

touch interactions in most current devices is that they are still

11. Romeo And Juliet Comparison Essay
William Shakespeare s famous Romeo and Juliet was reinvented in 1996 as Romeo + Juliet and was
directed by Baz Luhrmann. Luhrmann s interpretation has turned Shakespeare s traditional tale of a
tragic love story into a modern and urbanised 20th century version. Luhrmann s adaptation keeps the
classic story of Romeo and Juliet true. This is seen by still having the constant feud between the
Montague and Capulet family and the countless tragedies, yet Luhrmann adds a 20th century twist by
using guns instead of swords and replacing horses with cars. The main characters remain as Romeo
and Juliet, although there is a greater focus on them than their parents. The events take place in
Verona, however, it is at Verona Beach in Florida, not Italy. All of Luhrmann s alterations to the

12. Cultural Values In Beowulf
Each individual culture has many cultural truths that a group of people follow and believe in. Cultural
truths are principles, values, or standards important to a group of people, which display moral
behaviors that are respected and immoral actions that are scorned at. Also, cultural truths are norms in
a society that you are born into and are expected to do daily because they shape the lifestyle of a
group. For example, during the Anglo Saxon period, there were a number of cultural truths that were
applied to everyday actions and attitudes. An epic poem, composed based on the Anglo Saxon period
called Beowulf, written by an unknown author translated by Seamus Heaney, depicts many of the
cultural values of the time period. In the poem, is it revealed that all the cultural values in the Anglo
Saxon culture are developed from the idea of a warrior culture. The epic poem is about a hero named
Beowulf from the Geats tribe who goes off and helps Hrothgar and the Danes defeat a monster,
Grendel, who attacks their mead hall. Before Beowulf meets his fate he fights three monsters, which
includes Grendel, to protect the lives of people in two different tribes. Within the epic poem Beowulf,
there are several of cultural values presented and focused on such as, courage in battle, fidelity to one
s word, and loyalty to kinsmen, which are all demonstrated by Beowulf. To begin, a cultural truth
admired by the Anglo Saxon is courage in battle because it is a trait of a good warrior in the eyes of
Anglo Saxon people. Courage in battle is the ability to not be afraid of the enemy, be strong, and
brave. Beowulf shows his above average strength and courage in battle when he is going to battle
Grendel: When it comes to battle, I count myself/ as dangerous any day as Grendel,/ ... No weapons,
therefore,/ for either this night: unarmed he shall face me/ if face me he dares (Beowulf 677 685). In
this quote Beowulf states and declares his abandonment of weapons, as well as his belief that he is as
strong as Grendel, so he will fight him without a weapon. This shows Beowulf s courage in battle
because it displays his tremendous strength and boldness by going to fight a monster with no weapons,
which demonstrates that he is not

Every day I sit at lunch and watch person after person throw away perfectly good food. Even I am
guilty of throwing away food I did not want or food I was too full to possibly eat. Someone will take a
container of yogurt or a sandwich out of their lunch bag, decide they don t want it, and proceed to toss
it into the black, wheeled trash cans. All that runs through my mind when I witness and experience
these wasteful habits is that people don t understand how much perfectly eatable food faces the trash
can every day. Food waste does not only occur in schools, food waste occurs in multiple
environments, such as restaurants, grocery stores, and every day households. Food waste comes in all
different forms as well, whether it is whole containers of salvageable snacks or scraps of food capable
of utilization as compost. People don t completely understand the ample amounts of food wasted
every day, every month, and every year. Because of this lack of awareness and knowledge, the
government should provide educational programs regarding food waste and teach alternative disposal
methods, such as composting or recycling, to the general public. The government should also instill
food waste prevention programs to make sure people aren t throwing away perfectly good food

16. The Society Of The United States
Some social behaviors are so ingrained in people s day to day lives that they would never notice them
unless they were pointed out. One such behavior that is so often overlooked is the preferential
treatment that certain groups receive over others. The privileges of the dominate social groups over the
subordinate ones go so unnoticed at times that they are even seen as just innately how things should
be. In the contemporary society of the United States, the group with these privileges is often White
males, and the majority of them would disagree about that statement. Surprisingly, the group that gets
the most treatment feels the most abused. This only highlights the obliviousness accompanying those
to which this invisible power belongs. However, each person, at one point, has been advantaged over
another without realizing it.
I have experienced many freedoms throughout my life that others around me have not. For instance, as
a young, White female, I can walk up to almost any stranger of any age without them being suspicious
or afraid of me. A Black man isn t able to say that. This difference has nothing to do with who I am as
a person, but rather how society perceives I will behave based on how I look. I have walked through
department stores with a bag and my hands in my pockets, and I have never been searched or
suspected of stealing once. No one has ever crossed to the other side of the street because I was in
their path, or locked their doors as I walked past their car.

Pontius Pilate was a Roman governor who overlooked Judea. To me, he was made out to seem like a
weak leader in the gospels, however in all actuality, he was a harsh and strong governor. He could
arguably be considered the single man who changed history as we know it. The gospels do not explain
much about Pilate and his background. The only time he was really introduced was during the trial of
Jesus. He was acknowledged a few times to show he was the one who followed through with the
crucifixion, and then he ceased to be brought back up again. However, the book Pontius Pilate by Paul

I never understood how serious the division was but Pontius Pilate helped inform me of the
magnitude. There was serious tension since Pilate was governor over Jews and that ultimately affected

they had no king but Caeser. This was a confidence booster for Pilate because it reaffirmed his
authority of Rome. Not surprisingly, he didn t stop there. Pilate made sure the Jews felt guilty about
the crucifixion. It was said that Pilate washed his hands clean of Jesus blood. After, the Jews replied
by saying, His blood be on us and on our children (238). Pilate operated the whole production so the
blame would be focused on the Jews and not him. I was very shocked to see such evil works from a

Have you ever been protested and demonstrated against? Jackie Robinson felt the outcry of America
during his baseball career. Fighting not only for his future, but also for the overall well being of his
sport, Robinson received death threats for his efforts. On a daily basis, this disciplined African man
fought the pressures of hatred toward his entire race. As a segregated country, America saw major
league baseball as a white man s sport. Robinson was the outlier in an otherwise American tradition.
Society observed Robinson s play on the field with extremely bias eyes. No matter the achievement;
no matter the obstacle; many still discredited his abilities due to the color of his skin. Over time
skeptics gave in to their malice. Robinson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His passion for desegregation showed during his time in the army. As stated in the article Historic

America s pastime. From Babe Ruth calling his shot to Cy Young winning 511 games, baseball has
always been a sport of chance. Baseball is a sport where one has to give the other team an opportunity
to win. A team cannot run the clock down until the game is over; the other team always has a chance
to win the game. The fate of a team always lies in their own hands. The same chance for success was
given to Jackie Robinson when Branch Rickey brought him into the major leagues. If Robinson could
put up respectable statistics and play with class and dignity he could win the heart of a country. In
Rubinstein s article it states, Following Rickey s lead, some Major League clubs were quick to

background, more interested in his surroundings rather than the actual protest. During the Vietnam
War, Forrest never questions the morality or the agenda of the U.S. government, and receives the

summed up into one conversation between him and the Drill Sergeant: Gump! What s your sole

27. The Definitions Of Scientific Management
Scientific Management
The term scientific management is the blend of two words i.e. scientific and management. Scientific
means efficient diagnostic and target approach while management means completing things through
others. In basic words scientific management implies utilization of standards and routines for science
in the field of administration. Scientific management is the craft of knowing best and least expensive
way . It is the craft of knowing precisely what could possibly be done whom it is to be done and what
is the best and least expensive method for doing it. Scientific routines and procedures are connected in
the field of management i.e., enrollment, choice, preparing, situation of laborers and techniques for
doing work in the best and least expensive way.
Definitions of Scientific Management
The main definitions of scientific management are as follows:
According to Fredrick Taylor (1911), The management of science means knowing exactly what you
want workers or employees to do and seeing that they do it in the best and the cheapest way.
As indicated by Harlow Person (1947) The management of science portrays that type of association
and methodology in purposive aggregate exertion which lays on standards or laws inferred by the
procedure of scientific analysis and investigation, rather than convention or on approaches decided
empirically and casually by the procedure of experimentation.

What does it mean to be a citizen? Or what does it mean to be a republican citizen? Every thinker will
give a different definition to the concept of citizenship through history. Sometimes their definition will
nuance just slightly. In the classical definition of citizenship, Aristotle and some other thinkers see the
citizen as an active, political being (P35). An active citizen is the one who will get involved in the
activities of her or his community. In the self govern republic, the citizen will get involve in the
political life. However, the political requires some sacrifice, at least one has to dedicate her or his time
at the expenses of his personal life. In fact, Dagger suggests states that the citizen has to be prepared to

According to Dagger, the republican conception acknowledges that even the good citizens should not

stated that paying taxes, serving on jury, obeying the laws and attending public affairs require time

community because this will also allow them to achieve their personal goal as well. They will

Prehistoric Western Art Influences

Lamar Community College
Abstract
Art has many styles, shapes, forms, and meanings. The way people perceive art is very different from
one another. Even though some art pieces are very similar, prehistoric art focused on the human
species and the human form. The artists had minimal influence which had an effect on their creative
process. Early prehistoric art was based on humanity. The Venus of Willendorf focused on the value of
human form. The artist wanted to represent how life was at the time. The Lascaux cave paintings share
the same meaning. Whoever the artist was wanted to capture what was important to humans at the
time. Animals were a very big part of their diet and their life which is why they focused on that in
their paintings. Art has many styles, shapes, forms, and meanings. The way people perceive art is very

Assessing the relationship between right wing authoritarianism and climate change beliefs.
As time goes by, Earth is becoming more at risk of climate change effects (Commoner, 1990, as cited
in Schultz and Stone, 1994). Nearly all scientists agree that the change is caused by the acts of humans
(Intergovernmental, 2007 as cited in Hakkinen and Akarami 2014). Though, with this being said, it
seems that people are not that worried and it is not being discussed as much as it should be. (Maibach,
Feinberg Howe 2013, as cited in Hakkinen and Akarami 2014). Within this study I am going to be
investigating the relationship between right wing authoritarianism and climate change beliefs. In
previous studies such as Peterrson et all (1993), their data showed that with high levels of right wing
authoritarianism can lead to negative social issues, but within the study there was nothing significant
when it came to climate change beliefs. Following this was an investigation done by Shultz and Stone
(1994). This study showed that there was data to suggest that there was a negative relationship
between RWA and CC beliefs. In 2014, Hakkinen and Akrami s study also found a negative
relationship between the two but also found that when shown a news cast before answering can
change a person s answers about environmental issues. After looking over these readings, my
hypothesis is that there will be a negative relationship between right wing authoritarianism and
climate change beliefs. This

Illustrations of Authors and Their Relations to Modernism There are many authors that I had an
opportunity of choosing for this essay. I have chosen these two authors because they both have the
same ideas about the modern period, but express it in different ways. Loy expresses her experiences in
Feminist Manifesto during this time as being unequal to men. Wright expresses his difficulties in The
Man Who Was Almost A Man of being considered as a man . As you can see from above, both have
issues dealing with the fact that no one wants to observe them as more than what they have known
them to be. Dave, wants to be considered a man. Loy wants to be recognized as more than just a
woman. Equality is the common ground between the two authors and I will illustrate the similarities

However, her view of the Modernism could be considered as one of all women in this time period.
Loy completely rejects the notion that a woman is no equal to man in her work Feminist Manifesto

dominance within society. Loy then implicates that in order for woman to even be remotely
considered as an equal of man she would have to be desuxialized and unlovable (Loy, 1914). In doing
so, she demonstrates that if women were to remove emotion completely from male female relations an
adequate attempt to gain both recognition. Throughout reading Feminist Manifesto (Loy, 1914) she
indicates the want for change in the treatment of women. Not physical treatment, more so rather
emotional and mental. Women of this time period were fighting for equality amongst men. Although

In the 1700s the extent of religion was not very vast and many people were prosecuted for their

helped pave the way for religious freedoms in the colonies.
In the 1700s religion was heavily involved in nearly everything a person did. There beliefs were
strong and when someone told them differently they would be heavily punished for this. Many people
would not allow their opinions to go unheard, like Anne Hutchinson and many more. These people
would try to fight for their freedom for religion but they were mostly shunned and punished. The
Puritans were a group of very strict religious followers who would go to high extremes to make people
change religious ways. The indians were highly affected by this and felt the pain of being forced to
join a religion through violence. Another group of religious followers were the quakers, what
separated the quakers from other religious groups though were there tolerance for religious freedoms

40. Ethics Of Patriotism Essay
Comparative Ethics of Patriotism
I. Introduction What is the moral worth of patriotism? Is there a substantive difference between the
patriotism of totalitarian and liberal countries? Do the soldiers in those countries experience patriotism
differently? In this paper, I will attempt to affirm the moral worth of patriotism, find the exact
differences between totalitarian and liberal patriotism, and determine how this difference might
manifest itself within the citizens of either country. Our paper structure will begin with using a
common definition of patriotism, and will make an initial attempt to argue for a difference between
liberal and totalitarian instances of patriotism. When this attempt fails, we will more clearly and
carefully define patriotism, and explore the challenges in assessing its moral worth. Then, after a re
conception of patriotism, we will return to the question of patriotic differences between totalitarian
and liberal governments. As a final note to the reader, no specific moral theory will be employed.
Instead, the priority in this analysis will be focused more closely on uncovering relations between

41. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Phlebotomists
Introduction
Infections are heavily widespread in today s world and bacteria are its primary cause. They are of
varying strains and can be symptoms of other underlying diseases. It is very important to determine
what type of organisms causes these kinds of infections for they can help determine which medicine
can be used to cure and to prevent future infections.
The human body is home to billions of living bacteria, which are capable of causing diseases.
Although there are normal flora found in the nose, mouth and skin, transmission of infectious diseases
is still permissible. Equipped with this knowledge, protective measures against infection such as
disinfecting workstations, using personal protective equipment, and hand washing are necessary. ...

Adding to this, a phlebotomist can accidentally prick themself when drawing blood or disposing
needles which increases the risk of contracting illnesses such as HIV or syphilis.
There are also possible risks due to the patient s status or condition when in contact with
phlebotomists. A phlebotomist draws blood every day from different patients that can either be:
severely ill, admitted in Intensive Care Unit, or highly contagious. The caveat is that these
phlebotomists do not know what kind of pathogen these patients have after drawing blood. This poses
even greater potential to give more harm to the next patient.
Nosocomial infections or Hospital Acquired infections are infections acquired from the hospital and
healthcare providers. Invasive procedures like drawing of blood increase the risk of nosocomial
infections. However there are cases where merely touching the patient can also be a risk if they are
carrying an antibiotic resistant bacteria.
Objective of the Study
The researchers formulated the following objectives to aid them with their study.
Objectives:
To determine the prevalent microorganism isolated from the phlebotomist s hand.
To determine the characteristic of the isolated organisms as to sensitivity and resistance.

42. Analysis of the Salem Witch Trials
History generally regards the period of Salem witchcraft trials as a radical instatement of religious zeal
which favored superstition over reason and targeted a large number of women over a much smaller
number of men. Admittedly, the 1692 witchcraft crisis is a very complex historical episode, yet seeing
as the majority of the people involved were women, it can be perceived as a gender issue, and
illustrative for the definition of the role of women in New England. The present work s aim is to
outline the colonial mindset concerning women and present relevant theories by means of analyzing
three cases of witchcraft accusation together with delving into the accusers perspective.
The Puritans that comprised the colony of Salem, Massachusetts, were extremely religious, attributing
biblical meaning to all aspects of their lives and being accustomed to personify the devil (Kocić,
2010). Specifically, church elders strongly believed that their congregation was superlatively righteous
and for this reason the devil would try to target it with attacks in all forms, hence it was impressed
upon the community to be vigilant against any signs of his presence. Such signs were subject to
interpretation, yet they were generally concentrated on negative events which occurred unexplainably
in the colony, for instance in the eventuality of a crop failure, stillborn children, or serious disease of
an unknown nature. Common perception identified a witch as someone who bonded their body and

43. The Death Of A Costumed Adventurer
The death of a costumed adventurer often leads audiences to contemplate the significance of it. It is a
prevalent issue in which these characters appear to sacrifice their lives for the possibility of a greater
good. In Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen, masked hero are subjected towards death due to
their actions and the actions of others. Whether it is the actions of a friend, stranger, or foe, the
untimely deaths of Rorschach, Nite Owl I, and The Comedian proves a costumed adventurer s death
leads to the loss of humanity. Walter Joseph Kovacs, or more commonly known as Rorschach, is a
costumed vigilante whose death plays a significant role in Watchmen. Rorschach is depicted as a
disturbed man who believes there is always a right and wrong, even if it means breaking the law to
bring a higher justice in the world. His belief deems prevalent by defying the Keene Act of 1977,
which outlawed any type of vigilantism by costumed adventurers, except for those who worked
exclusively under the United States government like Dr. Manhattan and The Comedian. By breaking
down the components of Rorschach s mask, there will be a deeper understanding of what the
mysterious Rorschach represents in Watchmen. Rorschach s viewpoint of the world is often
interpreted through his mask, which is black and white... [and is constantly] changing shape...but not
mixing...[with] no gray [areas] (Gibbons, Moore 188). It was made of two layers of latex with viscous

45. Winston Churchill s Role In The Crown
Winston Churchill is probably the most important political figure featuring the series The Crown.
Since he is the first starring Prime Minister, he is approached as a powerful and influential character.
His prolonged experience as a Prime Minister enabled the Queen to have a mentor at the beginning of
her sovereignty. Furthermore, since Winston Churchill was also Prime Minister under the reign of
George VI, Elizabeth sees in him a paternal like figure which brings her support. However, as Winston
Churchill becomes older, he is no longer able to take great decisions for the country and will
eventually retire. Anthony Eden is the second Prime Minister featuring The Crown. In opposition with
Winston Churchill, his character is far from being

· Authorization, Access Controls
Authorization is the specification of a set of rules that specify who has which type of access to what
information. Authorization policies therefore govern the disclosure and modification of information.
Access controls are
3 procedures that are designed to control authorizations. They are responsible to limit access to stored
data to authorized users only.
· Integrity, Consistency
An integrity policy states a set of rules (i. e. semantic integrity constraints) that define the correct
states of the database during database operation and therefore can protect against malicious or
accidental modification of information. Closely related issues to integrity and consistency are
concurrency control and recovery. Concurrency control policies protect the integrity of the database in
the presence of concurrent transactions. If these transactions do not terminate normally due to system
crashes or security violations recovery techniques are used to reconstruct correct or valid database
states.
· Auditing
47. The requirement to keep records of all security relevant actions issued by a user is called auditing.
Resulting audit records are the basis for further reviews and examinations in order to test the adequacy
of system controls and to recommend any changes in the security policy.
In this Chapter such a broad perspective of database security is not taken.
Instead, main focus is directed towards aspects related to

48. Twelfth Night Malvolio As A Servant
In the play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, Malvolio an ambitious posh servant of the Lady
Olivia s household, is presented as one of the least liked characters. His character traits display him as
a very uptight person who is easily angered. Many times throughout the play this character shows his
presitence and appreciation of his master, the Lady Olivia. His willingness towards Lady Olivia can be
seen when he interrupts the loud partying of Sir Toby and Andrew, and when he dressed up as a fool
because he believed that she had asked him to. Firstly, we can see that Malvolio is an extremely loyal
servant towards Olivia when he interrupts the loud partying of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria late at
night. This caused a lot of negative

Abstract
This paper will discuss about the different costing system that a company can adopt. It will also try to
shed light into the similarities and differences among the job order costing and process costing. It will
try to find out which costing a service firm such as an advertising agency would use. Then it will
focus on how both the systems provide decision making information for a company. After that this
paper will also talk about activity based costing, provide examples where activity based costing is
preferred over traditional costing. Then, it will explain how this costing is useful in decision making.
Costing System and it s usefulness
For any firm, it is very much critical and crucial for the accurate estimation of product costs in order
for the operations to be profitable. It is very much essential for companies to know which products
would actually generate profit for them which can only be found out by correct cost estimation. For
such cost estimation companies adopt certain system basically known as a costing system or product
system or a cost accounting system. Costing system (cost accounting system), can simply be
understood as a system that can be adopted or used by a company or a firm for estimating the cost of
their products (goods or services) so as to analyze profitability, valuation of

50. Benefits Of Fantasy Football
Fantasy Football is a game that belongs to a billion dollar industry called fantasy sports wherein
players, aptly called team owners, can acquire or draft an entire team of real life professional football
players. Arranged into leagues that mimic real ones, Fantasy Football participants gain score points
through statistical capabilities or performances of the real world players which are included in the
fantasy rosters of the respective owners.
In essence, the way to win in Fantasy Football is to always have high quality players. Since the
performance of the real world players can change in between real world matches, you need to make
regular updates or changes to the players in your fantasy roster to keep up with the fantasy games.

To do this you just go the players page in your league s website, there you will find the list of players
to choose from. Commonly, for each player that you acquire, a corresponding member of your team
should be dropped too.
All in all, after acquiring a new player and dropping an old one, your roster will be changed. But there
are other ways of changing players in Football Fantasy and here they are.
Activating Bench Players To Active Status
One of the most overlooked ways of changing players in an existing lineup is by simply changing the
status of a certain player from bench to active or vice versa. You can access this function online by
simply going to your team s webpage. There you will find a menu that permits you to change the
status of each of the players on your roster. Always remember to save the changes before you exit the
page.
Trading Players
This can be the easiest way of changing the player composition of a Fantasy Football team. For one,
this method of changing players on a team is allowed even if the season has already started. And more
importantly, this method has very few restrictions; so the process and the agreements that lead to the
trading of players is entirely left to the preferences of the two teams that decide to
