The art of the ancient Egyptians is known for how consistent it remained for thousands of years.
The Amarna period is significant because it was a brief shift from that consistency under the
Pharaoh Amenhotep IV, (who later changed his named to Akhenaten
) his Queen, Nefertiti and later,
Tutankhamen. They began worshipping the sun god Aten, which is evident in the art that was
commissioned. Instead of using strict registers, walls were cluttered with images. (Giuliano). An
example of this stylistic turn is the House Altar with Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Three Daughters.
The house altar is a piece that was carved into limestone during the Amarna period of the 18th
dynasty around 1350 BC. It would have been similar to the altars found in homes that the royal
couples subjects could worship. That altar features the royal couple and three of their daughters in
a domestic setting. Akhenaten and Nefertiti are depicted as the only ones with access to the god

These claims by culture and feminism do not match up with the definition of manliness, and that is
where the debate lies. If the discrepancy was due to the researchers Mansfield and Gilmore, what
are they to make of their observations and study? What are we to do with centuries of history in

White Fang is an action/adventure novel written by Jack London. White Fang takes place in
Yukon Territory and areas around Canada during the 1890s. It is written in 1st person and
changes between different people s point of views. White Fang is about the will to survive. White

I will use is within the subfield of the cultural studies approach, known as visual culture. This
approach is focused on art history/the fine arts approach meaning that it is influenced by art history
and focuses on the visual art. Visual culture is the aspect of culture that is expressed in visual
images. The rose window expresses visual culture through the fleur de lis symbols painted on the
window. When you translate fleur de lis to English, it means, flower of the lily . The fleur de lis
has many different meanings but traditionally it has been used to represent French royalty as
well as representing perfection and life (The Fleur De Lis). This can be related to the stained
glass window since the fleur de lis symbols are painted on the top half of the window along with
the scene of the birth of baby Jesus. The visual culture approach not only focuses on art history and
visual art, but four ways in which images participate in religious practices. These four ways include
communication, communion, commemoration, and imagination. The main way that sticks out to
me most is the commemoration category. This category focuses on images that remember
important people, places, and ideas that are being celebrated and remembered. There are a few
