If one were to be alive during the time of the building of the Tower of Babel, this painting may
very well be what it could have looked like to someone. The painting is extremely detailed and
each time you look at it, you can notice some new details. This painting depicts lots of people

The Republic presents two very different views of justice as argued by two skilled thinkers. The
beginning of the discussion starts off with Thrasymachus explaining what exactly he believes

while some are receptors. Lastly carbohydrate molecules of the membrane are relatively short chain

The Importance Of The First And Second Language Acquisition
First and second language acquisition have been a topic of interest in linguistics for decades.
Researchers have been approaching these topics from many points of view, angles, and models
(Gass, 2013). Regarding second language acquisition, and especially English as a second
language, the most researched topics include the effects of the Critical Period on second language
learners, age of acquisition, age of onset, and individual differences (i.e. L1, motivation, aptitude)
(Gass, 2013). Even though it is possible to find a wide variety of research on L2 acquisition,
researchers are still debating on which elements affect learners more. Furthermore, while there is
plenty of research on gender differences in the field of first language acquisition, there seems to be
a lack of studies on said topic in regards to learning a second language. For said reason this
research paper will focus on gender and first language influences on English as a second language
acquisition, with the goal to comprehend whether one, both or neither of those factors contributes or
hinders L2 acquisition and why. Furthermore, the current research paper is a follow up of
Chiamenti (2016).

The Death Penalty Introduction As of 2010, thirty four States have some form of Death Penalty,
while twelve States plus the District of Columbia have no Death Penalty. The number of Death
Penalty executions from 1977 2010 by color coded States follows: (Death Penalty Information
Center, 2012). The basic dispute involving the Death Penalty is whether or not it should be
abolished. This dispute has raged for decades in the United States and people on both sides of the
debate appear to be equally passionate. Anti Death Penalty individuals propose numerous arguments
for banning the Death Penalty; this paper will address three of them: some innocent people are
sentenced to death; the Death Penalty is administered arbitrarily; and the Death Penalty is not a
deterrent. After presenting those three anti Death Penalty arguments, the pro Death Penalty

Penalty is that innocent people are wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death. While the

Juries in other countries are not quite like ours. In the United Kingdom they do not have a grand
jury. If the judge or police feels that the crime is serious enough it is sent straight to a jury trial.
Other countries such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have started to adopt the concept

In elementary school the one subject I always would struggle with was spelling. At the end of

The Adaptive Identity
The concern about identity is a major existential question. People recognize different objects by
their sense, and thus consider their appearance, sound, or smell as their identities. In many cases,
even though the physical traits of an object have changed, people still know the object. Therefore,
these physical definitions of objects are not their identities. The connections of these characteristics,
and furthermore of them and their inner self, define the uniqueness of an individual. Since the
massive universe constantly moves toward entropy, the only consistency is change : caterpillars
transform to butterflies, the ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan, and I have become
unacquainted with my mother language but more comfortable with English. Thus, I am concerned
about my rising ignorance of my own culture and of my true being in the world. But in the poem
Identity by A. R. Ammons, I find relief: identity holds its center within but proceeds to randomness
on the exterior to adjust and adapt. The spiderand the spider webserve as extended metaphors that
represent human beings and their identity. A spider makes web from its body and creates a place
for itself in the world. Because the spider silkis formed in its body, it is a portrayal of the inner
part of an individual; with the silk, spiders weave webs that identify a species (2). Mostly, they
weave a special center (on which they rest), and leave a relatively large circular space around the
