U.s. Maritime Strategic Operations
Introduction For over 60 years the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) in Japan has served as a
cornerstone for executing U.S. Maritime Strategies in Asia. From the strategies of Deterrence, Power
Projection, and Crisis Response, to the strategies of Littoral Operations and
Engagement, the FDNF has been a key contributor to these missions.
Several commands in the United States Navy operate in overseas outside of Continental United States
(CONUS). These are the different platforms of naval ships such as: Destroyers (DDG), Mine Counter
Measure (MCM), Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD), landing Platform Dock (LPD), Dock Landing
Ship (LSD), Military Sealift Command (MSC), Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit, Undersea
Surveillance Detachment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was accomplished during a single day during underway in FDNF operation. All of this was done
on time, professionally and most importantly safely without a single personnel or equipment casualty.
FDNF Operational Requirements
The U.S. 7th Fleet is the largest U.S. numbered fleet (Figure 1), with 60 70 ships, 200 300 aircraft and
about 40,000 Sailors and Marines operating in the region on a typical day (Carr, 2013). There are
more than 48 million square miles (more than 124 million square kilometers) in the 7th Fleet s Area of
Responsibility (AOR). It covers the Kuril Islands in the north to the Antarctic in the south, and from
the International Date Line to the 68th meridian east, which runs down from the India Pakistan border.
It has 36 maritime countries and the world s five largest foreign armed forces in the 7th AOR (i.e.,
Russia, India, North Korea, People s Republic of China, and Republic of Korea). Five of the seven
U.S. Mutual Defense Treaties are with countries in the area of Republic of the Philippines, Republic of
Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Thailand (C7F, 2015).
The FDNF offers two independent striking forces; the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) battle group and
the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) amphibious ready group. When augmented with submarines
from Submarine squadron FIFTEEN out of Guam, the strike potential is apparent (Mitchell,

Economic Recession Of 2009
The economic recession of 2009 pushed some financial institutions to bankruptcy. The banking
industry was also a victim of this economic hardship. Some solid institutions like Bank of America,
Trust Bank, and Wells Fargo take over other banks for different reasons: market power,
diversification, cost savings, and external growth. These banks acquire all the assets and the liabilities
of another bank. These banks obtained the property rights and new market power. This research paper
is to look at the economic advantages of the merger and to make some predictions.
These bank mergers can generate a great number of advantages. First, the economy of scale is one
advantage of the merger. The advantage of the economy of scale is the cost savings associated

Self Assessment Of The Classroom Essay
Self Assessment in the Classroom
Self Assessment is process by which students monitor and evaluate the quality of their thinking and
behavior when learning and then identify actions that could potentially improve their understanding
and skills. Furthermore, self assessment occurs when students check the work they ve accomplished
and identify discrepancies between current and desired performance (McMillan Hearn, 2008). Self
assessments can be used by the student and the teacher; a student would use it as a way to know if
they understand the information the teacher taught; the teacher can use self assessment in order to
better the course or teaching techniques. When students self assess their performance, it is important
that we know what techniques to apply and with effectiveness. I will be exploring how students self
assess their work, and how you can encourage better self assessment technique. This paper will also
review studies that relate to self assessment and what has been done to enhance their use. In all studies
used, only English as a first language students and students that are not going through special
education were able to participate in the study. This method of assessment can be integrated into
various classroom activities as well as traditional assessments. The ability to self assess one s learning
will encourage independence as a student, where you do not to rely on the criticism of others in order
to improve yourself.

Persepolis Research Paper
Marjane Satrapi uses different techniques to effect the reality of occurring events and culture in the
graphic novel, Persepolis. The author uses social class, gender, and racial differences within the
graphic novel to effect the reality of occurring events such as the Iranian revolution during 1979.
Social class differences are effective in the graphic novel Persepolis because the way Marjane presents
the information shows how everyone is treated differently depending on their social class. There are
many events that occur during the graphic novel that give example of the difference in treatment of
social classes. Even during the 20th century, men and women were not seen equally. Men were seen as
the superior gender, based on the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marjane s father, Eby, tells his neighbor that Mehri is not his daughter but his maid, therefore leading

flummoxed and responded with, But is it her fault that she was born where she was born???... Dad, are
you for or against social classes? Soon after there was a new maid in Marji s home. The author utilizes
this in her graphic novel to show the reader how social class affected Iranians in different ways than
just how wealthy they are or are not. Gender partially relates to how the social class affects Iranians
because women were not treated respectively as they should have and men were also at times not
treated respectively. For example, children at the age of eight had to leave their homes to go work for
other families, such as Mehri. Boys and girls left their homes to work as maids, window washers, or
carpet weavers. These children of Iranian families and citizens of Iran had to leave their homes to
work because their families grew large and because of their low social class, causing them to need

Essay on Cause of the American Civil War
The cause of the American Civil War has been a politicized subject for the past 152 years. There are
many different theories for what the main cause is, however the best answer is an all of the above
approach. The cause of the war that divided the nation cannot be narrowly defined into a single issue
but each cause is affected and tied together. The main causes that resulted in the Civil War were the
issue of nullification, tariffs, but most importantly just an overall difference in their ways of life. Yes,
slavery was a cause of the war, but that was not one of the central causes that popular belief has
engrained in us all, however, the role that slavery had will be discussed. These reasons all fed off each
other, which eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the enlisted men who fought and died overwhelmingly said on both sides stated that the
preservation or abolition of slavery was not the main cause of the war. James McPhearson s book, For
Causes and Comrades: Why Men fought in the Civil War, highlights these causes, and stated,
Relatively few Union volunteers mentioned the slavery issue when they enlisted . McPhearson uses
letters written home or diaries as his example and most do not touch upon the issue. The question of
slavery truly became important after the Emancipation Proclamation, in 1862 3. The North started to
string victories together, moved further down south, and they witnessed slavery firsthand. That is
when the average Union soldier began to care about the issue of slavery, well into 1863. The reason
why most men enlisted in the Union in 1861 was for one major reason, that was patriotism and
keeping the spirit of 1776 alive. The Northern view on the spirit of 1776 was the goal of preserving
the Union that was created by the Founding Fathers. As one Yankee Volunteer declared, I do feel that
the liberty of the world is placed in our hands to defend and if we are overcome then farewell to
freedom . Union soldiers believed and fought for the idea that America continued to be the last best
hope for freedom. The soldiers believed that a defeat would weaken America s perception by

The Importance Of Faith In Unbroken By Louie Zamperini
Unbroken is a non fiction book that tells the life story of Louie Zamperini, an Italian from Torrance,
California. As a boy, Louie is the town troublemaker until his older brother, Pete, decides it s time to
guide him in the right direction. To do this, Pete makes Louie go out for the track team and personally
coaches him. Throughout the years, Louie wins more and more races and eventually qualifies for the
Olympics. However, they were unfortunately canceled and Louie signed up for the military as a
member of the Air Corps. One day, his air team was assigned a rescue mission. When they were out
over the water, their plane wrecked with only three survivors: Louie, Mac, and Phil. After many days,
they eventually made it to shore with only Louie and Phil still alive. However, the land they made it to
was the enemy s land, and they immediately became prisoners. They were later transferred to separate
camps where they each were tortured in many ways. When the war ended, they were released from the
camps and sent back home. Louie devoted the rest of his life to God, and came to understand the
importance of religion. The purpose of Unbroken is to show how important faith is and that it affects
everyone. Also, it shows how much a person s faith can change and benefit their life. The author wrote

How to Find the Perfect Roommate
Facing the fact that you have to find the perfect roommate you have to make a decision about what the
ideal roommate would be for you. Just because you are best friends with someone or your friend
suggested that you live with them doesn t necessarily mean that they will be the ideal roommate for
you. If you have determined what you are looking for in a roommate you can begin your search.
You would first have to go through all of your friends to see if they were looking for a place to stay.
The first step should always be asking your friends or people you know if they are looking for a place
or if they know someone who is. If you already recognize the person, or know someone who will give

A Central Of Venous Catheter
A central venous catheter is known as a central line or a CVC. A CVC is a thin flexible catheter that is
inserted into a large vein near the heart in either the arm or the chest. (Web MD, 2016) This central
line is used to provide medication, fluids, nutrients, or blood products over a long period of time. This
is generally used for patients who have chemotherapy, frequent blood draws, need additional
nutritional support, or have kidney failure. (ATS, 2015) There are several considerations to keep in
mind when a CVC is being administered such as understanding why a CVC is being placed, safety
guidelines, teaching considerations, and ways to care for the CVC.
Reasons for needing a CVC
There are several reasons why a CVC may be placed depending on each patient s condition. It is
important for each patient to understand the reason for having a central line inserted; some reasons
may include: I.V. medications for a long period of time, large amounts of fluid, several blood draws,
additional nutrition, or kidney failure. When administering medication over a long period of time it
can be irritating to the vein so a central line is placed so that it is easily tolerated; especially for
chemotherapy medications. When administering fluids through a larger vein it is less irritating to the
vein and it is easier to manage fluid intake. Patients can often have several blood draws daily in order
to run tests to make sure that the treatment and body function is maintaining; so it is ideal

Discontentment In The Sun Also Rises
While Faulkner writes with complex, disorganized sentences, and Hemingway writes more simply,
both unique author s distinctive styles capture the feeling of discontentment in their fictional
characters, such as Jake, in The Sun Also Rises, and Darl in, As I Lay Dying, by supplying insight on
their daily life and the environment surrounding them. While Jake s discontentment is caused by a war
wound, and Darl s sadness is created by his mother s death, Jake tries to conceal his emotions while
Darl chooses to confront his issues directly. In, The Sun Also Rises, Jake Barnes is described as being
physically damaged because of a war wound that impaired him during WWI. This is the cause for Jake
s discontentment. After his injury, a colonel mentions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Darl addresses Dewey Dell about her mission to go to Jefferson, he says, You want her to die so
you can get to town: is that it? She wouldn t say what we both knew. The reason you will not say it is,
when you say it, even to yourself, you will know it is true: is that it? But you know it is true now. I can
almost tell you the day when you knew it is true. Why wont you say it, even to yourself? (25).
Faulkner applies many intricate sentences when showing Darl s feeling of discontentment. He uses
long, complicated statements to portray the complexity of Darl s thoughts, and to show exactly how
Darl is confronting his issues instead of simply concealing them. Later in the novel Darl burns down a
barn that his mother s coffin was lying in because he wanted to end the stressful torment that he had
endured on the long trip to Jefferson. He wanted Addie to finally rest in peace and he was also tired of
traveling with his selfish family members, like the father, Anse, whose main reason for the trip was
just to get new teeth. Although he tried his best to end his internal, emotional suffering by burning
down the barn, he failed because Jewel saved the coffin from the flames. After being arrested for the
act, he says, Darl has gone to Jackson. They put him on the train, laughing, down the long car

Mohamedou Ould Slahi said this when he was in the Guantanamo Bay Camps. His tragic experience

Causes Of Climate Change
What are the main contributing factors in climate change, and what should we do about it?
Climate change is undeniably one of the biggest problems which the world at large is currently having
to deal with. There are many factors that are causing climate change but more importantly, there are
numerous ways to combat it.
One of countless examples is environmental damage. Through this issue, mega cities like Delhi which
is the capital city of economically developing India suffer constantly with problems like smog. Due to
New Delhi being blanketed in thick smog, their very own chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has labelled
the mega city as a gas chamber . This major problem leads to severe consequences which were
suffered at the hands of the Delhi citizens who were choking, rendering them unable to breathe
properly. It is clear that the smog that floats above cities is the most obvious form of air pollution and
in turn, environmental pollution. In megacities like Mexico City, cars are indeed the main source of
pollutants and an effective way to combat this problem is introducing electric cars which do not run on
petrol or diesel. Electric cars reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions where common fuel
would emit a large quantity of carbon dioxide and additional gases. If these gases were to pollute the
air, it could contribute to the greenhouse effect and thus, lead to global warming. One pollutant related
to climate change and is in actual fact an element of smog, is

Increasing Price Discrimination In The Workplace
Individuals encounter price discriminations on an almost daily basis, whether realizing it or not.
Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the regular
price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be described as
identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider (Sexton, 2013).
Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a reduced cost
providing stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to meet the
qualification of price discrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization must provide a
good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly. Secondly, the
elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be enforced in order
to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit.
Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be
established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking.
Parking garages often provide a menu of price differences for different frames of time, such as two
hours, four hours, eight hours, or even overnight (Lin Wang, 2015). ... Show more content on

Optical Properties Of Thick Metal Nanohole Arrays
2. Optical properties of thick metal nanohole arrays fabricated by electron beam and nanosphere
lithography.
INTRODUCTION
Extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) through nanohole arrays has been concentrated broadly in
several aspects, including the hypothesis and confirmation of its origin parameters influencing its
intensity, the optical properties, for example like its transmission spectra and divergence. Several
parameters including the refractive index of the medium on the metal film surface, the wavelength and
condition of polarization of the incident light, the holes shape and periodicity of the structures change
the spectral behavior in term of intensity and position of the transmitted peaks. The structures that
support EOT have discovered their applications in numerous fields including visible spectroscopy,
Raman spectroscopy, sub wavelength optics, nonlinear optics, and photolithography. As the EOT is
influenced by parameters like the shape and periodicity of the holes, devices made in light of this
marvel will be more sensitive and supports larger selectivity. Regardless of these advantages a large
portion of existing use of EOT has been acknowledged on the structures with limited region of
coverage. Because of the constrained techniques and choices for fabrication of such structures, the
EOT based devices were fabricated with finite array sizes. This paper deals with two methods that

invisible and no one would ever find me. Obviously, in my opinion, invisibility is the definite choice
over flight. If humans had a skeleton on the outside of our bodies, this would change our lives because

Also, it would definitely be easier to break your spine as well. For example, if you were to fall of the

Azalea Seafood Gumbo Shoppe Business Analysis Essay examples
Azalea Seafood Gumbo Shoppe is in the Seafood Packaging Industry . In this industry companies take
raw seafood materials and package them to sell to supermarkets, grocery stores and restaurants. While
Azalea does direct sales through catering the bulk of its revenue is derived from wholesaling its foods
(Appendix A). Larger compnaies in the industry typically work through a food broker that will arange
selling to supermarkets or grocery stores. A major advantage in using food brokers is that preferred
shelf placement can be arranged which aids in sales. For smaller companies in the industry, like
Azalea, it is diffiult to have access to food brokers because they do not deal in a high enough volume.

Events like product recalls can have a terrible impact to companies in the industry. Brand recognition
ensures that the benefits of the quality product are realized. With many substitutes readily available
companies in the industry must brand themselves in a way that allows themselves to stick out. Often
decisions in grocery stores or made quickly, and with substitutes literally right above or below having
a brand image that evokes positive feelings with the end user is important. Meeting these three goals
ensures that both customers, the end consumer and the retailer, are satisfied.
Porters Five Forces
Threat of New Entrants
The Seafood Packaging Industry has a few barriers to entry that work in its favor. These barriers
include access to distribution channels and government policies. To sell products members of the
industry need access to end users that will buy the product. This access is gained by selling to
distributors such as supermarkets, grocery stores, and restaurants. Gaining access to these distributors
is a difficult task. Ideally companies work through a food broker that can arrange a distribution
agreement, but for smaller companies like Azalea access to food brokers is difficult. For a company to
come into the market with such a large volume of sales that they could easily attract food brokers they
would need a large capital base which then provides an additional barrier.

How Is Gattaca Related To Genetic Engineering
Jasmine Tran
Annotated Bibliography
Gattaca. Dir. Andrew M. Niccol. Columbia Tristar Video, 1999.
Set in a not so distant future, this science fiction film is based on a genetically imperfect Vincent
Freeman, who has none of the modified DNA that will guarantee him success. In order to fulfill his
dream of exploring space, he defies his face by assuming false identity of the genetically superior

Gattaca explores the ethical implications of genetic modification as it present a eugenic society where
parents use technology to manipulate their children s temperament, intelligence and other
characteristics to provide them the best opportunities in life. Gattaca doesn t just simply function as a
science fiction thriller, but rather a warning of the dangers of science outstripping ethics.

Essay On Sylvia Plath
Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally well. I do it so it feels like hell. I do it so it
feels real. I guess you could say I ve a call (2603). Sylvia Plath was born October 27, 1932, in Boston
Massachusetts. She carried herself with a non apologetic attitude and an obsession with death, so
much so that she tried to take her own life on more than one occasion. Her first attempt happened
during the summer of her junior year in college. After taking several sleeping pills, she crawled under
her mother s house and was not found until three days later. After some time in a psychiatric hospital,
she recovered fully and attained a Fulbright scholarship to Newnham College, Cambridge ( Sylvia
Plath, Famousauthors.org).
Her poetry was known as a confessional type, typically based on her innermost feelings and thoughts,
with a twist for the dramatic and sensationalism ( Sylvia Plath, Biography.com). She also wrote one
novel, The Bell Jar, a dark literary work said to parallel much of her own life. In a forward to The Bell
Jar, written by Frances McCullough, McCullough states Although her illness was never diagnosed,
several researchers in the field have noted Plath s unerring description of schizophrenic perception...
(xvi). Perhaps this condition had something to do with Plath s early demise, for it was not long after
publication of The Bell Jar, that Plath made the decision to take her own life.

The theme of the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding is the conflict between the human
impulse towards savagery and the rules of civilization. Throughout the book, the conflict is aimed at
the main character Ralph and Jack, who both represented civilized young boys in the beginning of the
novel, but quickly developed into savages. Jack was the first of the young boys to experience savagery
by trying to overthrow Ralph as chief, and by brutally hunting pigs. While Jack and the hunters were
seeking food they came across a sow, Then Jack found the throat and hot blood spouted over his
hands. The sow collapsed under them and they were heavy and fulfilled upon her. ... He giggled and
flicked them while the boys laughed at his reeking palms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph also focused greatly on keeping a signal fire going as one of the boys only hopes of getting off
the island. Jack is also interested in gaining power over the boys by offering them food, shelter, and
protection against the beast. Jack s desire for more power ruins the friendship between all the boys and
resembles in the creation of Jack and his group of savages. The more civilized group of the boys is
Ralph and Piggy, while they still focus on their main goal of surviving and getting off the island.
While the two separate groups argue, Piggy compares the savages to themselves, Which is better to be
a pack of painted Indians like you are or to be sensible like Ralph is? ... Which is better to have rules
and agree, or to hunt and kill? ... Which is better, law and rescue, or hunting and breaking things up?
(Golding 180). That quote shows Piggy talking the savages and comparing them to Ralph, as a
civilized human, and to them as a group of savages without any rules or order. Nearing the end of the
novel, the conch was broken and Piggy was murdered, nearly all of the boys had lost any sense of
civilization within them and they all became some sort of savage, even Ralph started to become a

The Mexican American Battle For Civil Rights
Marcela Duarte

Chicano Rights
The Mexican American battle for civil rights has been long and difficult but alas necessary. Can you
imagine living in a prejudice environment and as consequence not being able to exercise your rights as
a citizen? The past notion of minorities not having the same rights as the anglo majorities is simply
absurd. The injustice that Mexican Americans have experienced in the past is undeniably
discriminatory. Justice and reasoning played an important part over the years in dismantling such
bigotry. A few notable figures, movements, and court cases in Mexican American history that helped
pave the way for obtaining civil rights include: George I. Sanchez, ... Show more content on

According to him the assimilation of the people would produce influence in the white community.
Such belief was not entirely accepted but still remains a significant part of his history. Regardless of
that, his involvement with education is highly reminiscent because he fought for the liberty to have
equal rights in such matter, it should be considered a priority at most. As a professor at the University
of Texas, he continued his endeavor of obtaining opportunities for the Mexican American community.
Such work had to with desegregating based on language proficiency as well as unfairness in
standardized tests. He was a member of many organizations and councils that served for humanitarian
prosperity and advancement of the people. As a member of LULAC, he represented their mission to
advocate for the betterment in all prosperous matters, including civil rights, for all Latin American
people. In the case of Hernandez vs. Texas, which took place in the 1950s, an all white jury sentenced
a man of Mexican American descent, named Pete Hernandez to life for murder. His attorney in

Use Of Astrology And Its Effects On The Earth And Behavior...
Keely Keele Process Essay It s Astronomical Merriam Webster s dictionary defines astrology as the
study of how the positions of the stars and movements of the planets have a supposed influence on
events and on the lives and behavior of people. And to annoy is finally getting a reaction from
someone and high fiving the closest person next to you. This composition is going to focus on the
twelve signs integrated into astrology and how to grind a person s gears with the material offered.
Soon, you ll make anyone annoyed when talking about their sign or your own. The first step is to learn
the generic, stereotypical views of each sign. Since there are twelve of them, that s going to take some
memorization skills. Unfortunately, this is not a paper regarding how to memorize subject material
quickly, so bear with me. But, for convenience, which benefits both me and you, just read the list
below starting with Aries and ending with Pisces. Aries: fiery, dramatic, argumentative, stubborn, uses
people. Taurus: lazy, hot headed, stubborn, a know it all. Gemini: flirty, talkative, organized,
nonchalant. Cancer: know it all, always wants to fight someone, very dramatic, emotional. Leo:

Procurement And Procurement Of Procurement
Procurement is also referred to as the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services for commercial
purposes. Every decision unit, be it a farmer or a firm, sets procurement policies that govern its choice
of suppliers, products, and the methods and procedures of buying. Depending upon the size of the
decision unit and the complexity and level of formality of the agribusiness concern, procurement
practices are evolved in various segments. At the farm level, sourcing decisions to many inputs and
services are decided by push factors, which is based on the availability of input to be sourced off the
shelf. However, mismatch between what is required at the field and when may not be available. For an
individual farmer, inputs that are involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peer groups build and improve upon relationships with many stakeholders, such as input suppliers and
extension support system providers. This helps better handling of procurement challenges such as
identifying the needs of customers (farmers) and suppliers, choosing tools and processes to
communicate with suppliers, policies for evaluating proposals, and quotes and suppliers (pricing
aspects). It is important to note that group behavior and systems dominate the procurement process at
the farm level. 5 Pricing After having discussed procurement as a driver, one may look at pricing as a
supply chain driver in the agribusiness input sector. At the farm gate level, seeds are fairly priced on
the basis of market conditions. Fertilizer is a product that in India is highly price sensitive and
subsidized. The GOI has initiated nutrient based subsidy schemes from 2010, and is expected to
reduce fertilizer subsidy over the years. From the supply chain perspective, changes in central and
state government support for fertilizer prices in form of subsidy would impact demand and supply.
Another important agribusiness input is agricultural laborers. In India, supply of agricultural laborers
is becoming a problem, as majority of the rural population is no longer willing to work on demanding
jobs in the field. This situation could be the result

Ancient Egypts Effect on Modern Society
The museum has always been a place for all different types of people from the public to go and
appreciate art and feel reconnected with the past. People may go to the museum for these reasons or a
variety of others. But for whatever reasons they choose to go to the museum it always has an influence
on that person s relationship between them and the history they viewed. Specifically speaking the
museum has a big influence on the public and Ancient Egypt. The museum is already a place of
history and mystery and Ancient Egypt is one of the most mysterious ancient cultures. With so little
known about these ancient people it only makes sense that the museum would be a good place to
strengthen that feeling of mystery. Ever since the modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weather that be through artifact relics or souvenirs somebody is always trying to take a piece of
history with them. They might be doing this for a variety of reasons. They may just want something
interesting on a shelf to start a discussion where they can gloat about their recent trip to Egypt. Or they
may want to have it because it makes them feel closer to the ancient times and the mystery of it all.
But for whatever reason people always want to have some sort of item that relates them to the history
or journey. The museum does this by providing them with a large varieties, the person who wants to
fulfill that desire of owning a souvenir or relic, to choose from. You can buy almost anything Ancient
Egypt related at the gift shop in a museum. From Lego pens to imitation artifacts, the museum is a
great place to fill a need to buy a souvenir. Also what better time would it be to buy something
Egyptian than right after viewing an exhibit of the real artifacts. So by being able to create a need for a
physical relic and then fulfill it the museum is a perfect place to strengthen the bond between the
public and Ancient Egypt. So the museum as it seams is a very powerful place when it comes to
strengthening the bond between the public and Ancient Egypt. Weather the museum is providing just a
simple craving of curiosity or to providing the perfect place to shop for a relic

Block Booking Essay
It was during World War II that The Golden Age of Hollywood flourished, which not only produced
many patriotic films, but also brought to Hollywood a great number of exiled Europeans from France,
Germany and Austria, which included many actors, writers, directors, and composers.
During this time the film studios grew in power, new stars and directors were discovered and the eight
major studios produced more than 7500 feature films. These films were released by the studios to
audiences eager to be entertained. More than 80 million people attended at least one film per week.
This period enjoyed the greatest collection of talent gathered in one place. (Motion Pictures, The New

The studios often used block booking to sell films of mediocre quality.
In wasn t until the late 1937 that the studios began to run in to trouble, partly because on of economic
conditions in the United States and partly because of movies that the public felt were low in quality
and subpar. Many blamed this on the block booking. It was during this time that one of the smaller
studios (Disney Studios) released its 1937 hit Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, an animated film
with no stars and released by a small studio. This was a wakeup call for the larger studios that maybe
this practice of block booking wasn t such a good idea.
Variety magazine wrote: The wonder is not the scarcity of outstanding, smashing film hits, but that
under the present system of industry operation there are any hits at all. (Hollywood Renegades
(Archive, Hollywood in slump 1938: Variety. 12/14/1938, accessed 6/8/17). By 1947, the United
States Supreme Court Anti Trust law split the Studio System from its distribution component, which
led the way for independent theaters. By 1947 the Sherman Anti Trust Law put an end to the studio
system by dissolving the relationship between the theaters and the

Methods Of Birth Control
Birth control is a way for men and women to prevent pregnancy. There are many different methods of
birth control, including hormonal contraception such as the birth control pill.
Women take the pill by mouth to prevent pregnancy, and, when taken correctly, it is up to 99.9%
effective. However, the pill does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV (the
virus that causes AIDS). The latex male condom provides the best protection from most STDs. Other
types of combined estrogen and progestin hormonal contraception include the patch and the vaginal
ring.

Feeling Small Art
Feeling Small: Scale and Proportion in Art As I walk on the grounds of the Nelson Atkins Museum of
Art in Kansas City, I encounter one of the Oldenburg and van Bruggen s giant shuttlecocks.
Additionally, as I view and walk around this giant shuttlecock, I cannot help but think of how this
object is disproportional, especially in comparison to it s surroundings. The shuttlecock is huge and
unbelievably larger than the average size of a shuttlecock, which would fit within the palm of my
hand. An altered view is created by the use of the visual principles of scale and proportion in order to
create this sculpture. Distinguishing between scale and proportion is significant in depicting a specific
image in which the size is questionable and cannot be visualized accurately. According to the
textbook, scale is the size relation of one thing to another. However, Proportion is ... Show more

The image is also funny because of the proportion of the objects within the piece of art. According to
the text, it is appeared that the badminton game was being played on the grass and it appears that the
shuttlecock fell during a game between two giants who used the museum as the net for the game. I
find this to be hilarious when I picture it in my head because the falsehood of the museum is amazing.
Normally a museum would be much larger than the individuals playing badminton and the objects
used to play the game. However, in this piece of art, it is the complete opposite and it makes me laugh
when thinking about the game of badminton. Although I am unsure if the artists intended to make the
artwork funny, I believe that it provides a sense of relief for the individuals viewing the pieces. The
artists deserve to be respected for the intelligent idea to create something that can be misinterpreted

Strategy Formulation and Initial Implementation
Our company wanted to appeal to as many consumers as possible and gain market share through value
and competitive cost. We realized that not every person would need an extremely high end camera to
capture life s simple moments, but consumers would still appreciate a high value product without the
intimidating features of some high
end cameras. We chose to implement a Best
Cost strategy, which
allows our company to deliver a quality camera at a fair price and offer more in terms of value than
the lower PQ rated cameras. We believed this strategy would allow us to gain market share ... Show

Although our competitors began to improve their product quality, we kept ours constant. We wanted to
compete with a best
cost strategy by providing an average value at a reasonable price. Our entry
level
cameras did very well this year, but our end results showed that we needed to pay attention to our
multi
feature cameras for next year.
Year 10
For year 10 we decided that it was time to slightly improve the quality of our multi
feature camera in
order to remain competitive. We improved some of the core components in our multi
feature camera so
that it would be at a 3½ star quality. In order to compensate for the higher costs that came with making
a higher quality camera we increased its price. We based our price increases off what our competitors
were charging for a similar quality camera, while at the same time trying to stick with our best
cost
strategy. This year we also decided to cut back significantly on R D costs. We chose to spend nothing
for our entry
level cameras and only about $1000 for our multi
featured. We thought that cutting costs
would help increase profits for our next year.
Year 11
Year 11 was a good year financially, so we decided to not make any major changes in terms of
changing the price or quality of our products. We kept the prices the same as year 10 for the most part,
with only changing the price of our multi
feature in Asia
Pacific. We increased the

The Importance Of The International System Of Measurement
12 inches equal 1 foot. 3 feet equal 1 yard. 1,760 yards equal 1 mile. At a young age we are forced to
memorize these countless conversions making school a real struggle, but what if there is an easier
way. If you asked anyone else in the world about measurements, 10 cm equals 1 decameter. 10
decimeter equals 1 meter. 1,000 meters equals 1 kilometer. As a math student in the US, using the
traditional system seems absolutely ridiculous; when compared to SI, none of the measurements are
consistent or make sense. Take a look at the world, the International System of Measurements (SI) is
used by every country around the world except for three. Liberia, Burma, and of course the US. In
order to Make America Great Again the United States needs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are about 300 non SI units! Converting to SI would not only be beneficial to our teachers,
making their jobs easier because they don t have to waste time on teaching two systems or teaching
conversions, it s also making the lives of students a lot more simplistic. No longer would they have to
worry about if they made their conversion correctly, or what system they should be using. In the long
run converting will have an immense impact. Now, it s no surprise that Americans are lazy and
arrogant. When looking at the reasons why SI is not in effect in the US is because we are lazy and
want to prove a point. Whenever the discussion of switching unit systems arose in Congress, the
passage of a bill favoring the metric system was thwarted by big businesses and American citizens
who didn t want to go through the time consuming and expensive hassle of changing the country s
entire infrastructure. Many also believed that the United States should keep its particular system,
setting it apart from other countries and symbolizing its status as a leader rather than a follower.
(Hogeback) Isn t that an American thing to say leader rather than a follower. No matter what it comes
to the US has to make a statement and be the different one. Americans decided that they do not want
to convert just due to the fact that it will take time and money and change their status . However, when

  • 4. Self Assessment Of The Classroom Essay Self Assessment in the Classroom Self Assessment is process by which students monitor and evaluate the quality of their thinking and behavior when learning and then identify actions that could potentially improve their understanding and skills. Furthermore, self assessment occurs when students check the work they ve accomplished and identify discrepancies between current and desired performance (McMillan Hearn, 2008). Self assessments can be used by the student and the teacher; a student would use it as a way to know if they understand the information the teacher taught; the teacher can use self assessment in order to better the course or teaching techniques. When students self assess their performance, it is important that we know what techniques to apply and with effectiveness. I will be exploring how students self assess their work, and how you can encourage better self assessment technique. This paper will also review studies that relate to self assessment and what has been done to enhance their use. In all studies used, only English as a first language students and students that are not going through special education were able to participate in the study. This method of assessment can be integrated into various classroom activities as well as traditional assessments. The ability to self assess one s learning will encourage independence as a student, where you do not to rely on the criticism of others in order to improve yourself. It has been common to see ... The author uses social class, gender, and racial differences within the graphic novel to effect the reality of occurring events such as the Iranian revolution during 1979. Social class differences are effective in the graphic novel Persepolis because the way Marjane presents the information shows how everyone is treated differently depending on their social class. There are many different theories for what the main cause is, however the best answer is an all of the above approach. The cause of the war that divided the nation cannot be narrowly defined into a single issue but each cause is affected and tied together. The main causes that resulted in the Civil War were the issue of nullification, tariffs, but most importantly just an overall difference in their ways of life. McPhearson uses letters written home or diaries as his example and most do not touch upon the issue. The question of slavery truly became important after the Emancipation Proclamation, in 1862 3. The North started to string victories together, moved further down south, and they witnessed slavery firsthand. That is when the average Union soldier began to care about the issue of slavery, well into 1863. The reason why most men enlisted in the Union in 1861 was for one major reason, that was patriotism and keeping the spirit of 1776 alive. The Northern view on the spirit of 1776 was the goal of preserving the Union that was created by the Founding Fathers. As one Yankee Volunteer declared, I do feel that the liberty of the world is placed in our hands to defend and if we are overcome then farewell to freedom . (Web MD, 2016) This central line is used to provide medication, fluids, nutrients, or blood products over a long period of time. This is generally used for patients who have chemotherapy, frequent blood draws, need additional nutritional support, or have kidney failure. (ATS, 2015) There are several considerations to keep in mind when a CVC is being administered such as understanding why a CVC is being placed, safety guidelines, teaching considerations, and ways to care for the CVC. Reasons for needing a CVC There are several reasons why a CVC may be placed depending on each patient s condition. It is important for each patient to understand the reason for having a central line inserted; some reasons may include: I.V. medications for a long period of time, large amounts of fluid, several blood draws, additional nutrition, or kidney failure. When administering medication over a long period of time it can be irritating to the vein so a central line is placed so that it is easily tolerated; especially for chemotherapy medications. Climate change is undeniably one of the biggest problems which the world at large is currently having to deal with. There are many factors that are causing climate change but more importantly, there are numerous ways to combat it. One of countless examples is environmental damage. Through this issue, mega cities like Delhi which is the capital city of economically developing India suffer constantly with problems like smog. Due to New Delhi being blanketed in thick smog, their very own chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has labelled the mega city as a gas chamber . This major problem leads to severe consequences which were suffered at the hands of the Delhi citizens who were choking, rendering them unable to breathe properly. It is clear that the smog that floats above cities is the most obvious form of air pollution and in turn, environmental pollution. In megacities like Mexico City, cars are indeed the main source of pollutants and an effective way to combat this problem is introducing electric cars which do not run on petrol or diesel. Electric cars reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions where common fuel would emit a large quantity of carbon dioxide and additional gases. If these gases were to pollute the air, it could contribute to the greenhouse effect and thus, lead to global warming. Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the regular price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be described as identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider (Sexton, 2013). Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a reduced cost providing stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to meet the qualification of price discrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization must provide a good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly. Secondly, the elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be enforced in order to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit. Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking. INTRODUCTION Extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) through nanohole arrays has been concentrated broadly in several aspects, including the hypothesis and confirmation of its origin parameters influencing its intensity, the optical properties, for example like its transmission spectra and divergence. Several parameters including the refractive index of the medium on the metal film surface, the wavelength and condition of polarization of the incident light, the holes shape and periodicity of the structures change the spectral behavior in term of intensity and position of the transmitted peaks. The structures that support EOT have discovered their applications in numerous fields including visible spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, sub wavelength optics, nonlinear optics, and photolithography. As the EOT is influenced by parameters like the shape and periodicity of the holes, devices made in light of this marvel will be more sensitive and supports larger selectivity. Regardless of these advantages a large portion of existing use of EOT has been acknowledged on the structures with limited region of coverage. Because of the constrained techniques and choices for fabrication of such structures, the EOT based devices were fabricated with finite array sizes. Sylvia Plath was born October 27, 1932, in Boston Massachusetts. She carried herself with a non apologetic attitude and an obsession with death, so much so that she tried to take her own life on more than one occasion. Her first attempt happened during the summer of her junior year in college. After taking several sleeping pills, she crawled under her mother s house and was not found until three days later. After some time in a psychiatric hospital, she recovered fully and attained a Fulbright scholarship to Newnham College, Cambridge ( Sylvia Plath, Famousauthors.org). This helps better handling of procurement challenges such as identifying the needs of customers (farmers) and suppliers, choosing tools and processes to communicate with suppliers, policies for evaluating proposals, and quotes and suppliers (pricing aspects). It is important to note that group behavior and systems dominate the procurement process at the farm level. 5 Pricing After having discussed procurement as a driver, one may look at pricing as a supply chain driver in the agribusiness input sector. At the farm gate level, seeds are fairly priced on the basis of market conditions. Fertilizer is a product that in India is highly price sensitive and subsidized. The GOI has initiated nutrient based subsidy schemes from 2010, and is expected to reduce fertilizer subsidy over the years. From the supply chain perspective, changes in central and state government support for fertilizer prices in form of subsidy would impact demand and supply. Block Booking Essay It was during World War II that The Golden Age of Hollywood flourished, which not only produced many patriotic films, but also brought to Hollywood a great number of exiled Europeans from France, Germany and Austria, which included many actors, writers, directors, and composers. During this time the film studios grew in power, new stars and directors were discovered and the eight major studios produced more than 7500 feature films. These films were released by the studios to audiences eager to be entertained. More than 80 million people attended at least one film per week. Feeling Small Art Feeling Small: Scale and Proportion in Art As I walk on the grounds of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, I encounter one of the Oldenburg and van Bruggen s giant shuttlecocks. Additionally, as I view and walk around this giant shuttlecock, I cannot help but think of how this object is disproportional, especially in comparison to it s surroundings. The shuttlecock is huge and unbelievably larger than the average size of a shuttlecock, which would fit within the palm of my hand. An altered view is created by the use of the visual principles of scale and proportion in order to create this sculpture. Now, it s no surprise that Americans are lazy and arrogant. When looking at the reasons why SI is not in effect in the US is because we are lazy and want to prove a point. Whenever the discussion of switching unit systems arose in Congress, the passage of a bill favoring the metric system was thwarted by big businesses and American citizens who didn t want to go through the time consuming and expensive hassle of changing the country s entire infrastructure.
