With stop and wait ARQ, the sender stops and waits for a response from the receiver after each
message or data packet. After receiving a packet, the receiver sends either an acknowledgment
(ACK) if the message was received without error, or a negative acknowledgment (NAK) if the
message contained an error. If it is an NAK, the sender resends the previous message. If it is an
ACK, the sender continues with the next message. Stop and wait ARQ is by definition, a half
duplex transmission technique.
With continuous ARQ, the sender does not wait for an acknowledgment after sending a message; it
immediately sends the next one. While the messages are being transmitted, the sender examines the
stream of returning acknowledgments. If it receives an NAK, the sender retransmits the needed
messages. Continuous ARQ is by definition a full duplex transmission technique, because both the
sender and the receiver are transmitting simultaneously (the sender is sending messages, and the
receiver is sending ACKs and NAKs).
22. Transmission efficiency describes the efficiency of a transmission method, how likely errors
are, and generally how many packets reach the destination in the correct format, and how many
overhead bits are required to ensure it reaches the destination error free compared to how many
actual bits of wanted data reach the

The Case Of Grutter V. Bollinger
Thesis Statement
The case of Grutter V. Bollinger was based on a racial decision by the University of Michigan
Law School denying Barbara Grutter entrance. She had a good GPA and a good place on the
LSAT, and she should have been allowed into the school without her race being considered.
Introduction
This was a United States Supreme Court case, in where Barbara Grutter applied for the University
of Michigan Law School and was denied. This University was founded in 1859, and has an
enrollment of around 1,200 students. This University is consistently on the ranks among the
highest rated law schools in the United States. The Case

But the Court expects that after 25 years the use of ethnic preferences will not be necessary to
interest the authorization if they accept the student or not.
After some time, the public universities and also the other public institutes, of higher education,
across the Unites States were allowed to use race as one of the factors defining if the student will
be admitted or not. Any higher education should not be a governmental interest if the school
should use race as a source of having some kind of diversity in the schools. And if the program
uses smart decisions to achieve that end, most likely the Court will find the situation constitutional.
Also the majority of decisions by Sandra O Connor were to try to have the goal be the general
society.
Two different people had problems with Bollinger, Gratz and also Grutter, with two different cases,
and they affirmed and refined the position of the Supreme Court by the affirmative action of a
quarter century. The court also made clear that the action programs will be only constitutional if the
action programs consider race as one factor in a individual evaluation, but all this to have the Class

In the first quote, Carnegie means that the men share their wealth with the community; they help
the less fortunate prosper as well. Carnegie implies that the men make money for not only
themselves but others.
By survival of the fittest, Carnegie means that the most capable people will succeed and prosper,
while the others fail. He is promoting the idea of Social Darwinism, the belief that wealth is a
measure of one s inherent value and those who had it were the most fit.
As opposed to his poor brethren, the man of wealth has an extremely unfair advantage in which he

The men at the bottom of the image represent the workers of the middle and lower class, struggling

their struggle, pain is evident.
The cartoonist is trying to make the point that these protectors of our industries are oppressing and
taking advantage of the workers. He portrays them as fat, greedy, and lazy men who are bloated
from their enormous income of money. The workers are portrayed as hard working and struggling
to survive; they are exhausted and overworked.

Spike Lee
An auteur is a director who personal creative vision and style is expressed through films. The
term auteur is originated in France and is French for author. There are different ways in which a
director can express their vision in films and show who they are. There are many directors that are
considered to be a auteur such as: Quentin Tarintino, Tim Burton, Kathryn Bigelow, Stanley

His Personal Style:
Themes:
Spike is no stranger to controversy due to the elements he uses in his films. Most of Lee s films
consist of an African American theme and inspect the issues of race relations, political issues,
urban crime and violence. His 2nd film he made Do the Right Thing (1989) explored all of these
issues. He also explored the issues of family/father relationships in his films Crooklyn (1994),
Get on the Bus (1996) and He Got Game (1998). In his films School Daze (1988), Do The Right
Thing (1989), Jungle Fever (1991), Get on the Bus (1996), Summer of Sam (1999) and

black female sexuality which is in the films She s Gotta Have It (1986), Girl 6 (1996) and She
Hates Me (2004).

Essay on The Success of the Willie Nelson Concert Experience
The concert of the Willie Nelson Experience (WNE) was a huge success. Our success shook the
roots of Arlington. Our rock n roll took us to the top. Although street performing is not as easy as
it looks, our legend of the great Willie Nelson Experience begins now. In this paper, I am going to
discuss my experiences playing in the WNE, the bass guitar, and the one and only Willie Nelson. In
the legendary WNE, I am the bass player. For this project, it took hours on end of studying the
bass inside and out to become this legendary player that I dreamt of before this project. The electric
bass, a mystical object that is the foundation of every song, was invented by Paul Tutmarc. Since
the 1960s the bass guitar has replaced other instruments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also a semi acoustic bass. It is only partially hollowed out. Hofner s Beatle bass is a good
example. Its the violin shaped bass that Sir Paul McCartney often plays. The double bass, or upright
bass has many different names. My favorite is the doghouse bass. This bass is often used in jazz.
People play this by plucking or slapping the bass. Another common use is in orchestras. People
play this style with bows. This bass is the largest and lowest pitched instrument of the viol
family. The viol family contain the viola, violin, fiddle, and many others. The upright bass was
the inspiration of all basses. I was the first bass and probably most important because of the
sparks it caused for new invention. All basses are in my opinion the most important instruments
because they hold everyone together. Learning to play the bass was my pleasure and I feel its
something I will use for the rest of my life. The WNE was inspired by Willie Nelson. In our first
performance, we featured On The Road Again (OTRA) and it was a huge hit. OTRA was
written early in 1979 on a train. Willie Nelson was studying his lines for the movie Honeysuckle
Rose when the executive producer asked him to write the theme song for their movie. 35 minutes
later, written on a barf bag, Willie Nelson had possibly the greatest country hit in his hands. Willie
Nelson had many albums that were critical to hi success. Shotgun Willie (1973), Red Headed
Stranger (1975),

Decolonization
Why was process of decolonization peaceful in some countries and violent in others? (Before
Independence)
Brief historical background of colonization? (Historical Context) * What ignited calls for
independence from colonial rule in __________ (your country)?
A: Elections were held in rural areas(small cities) for reform and democratization of local
government. 1958 was a year of vigorous political discussion at issues of society in Belgian
Congo. The whole turning point of their advocacy for independence was during January 4 6 in
1959. In January 4, a riot broke out in Leopoldville due to the fact that an Abako meeting had
been banned. This abrupt disorder for two days as European shops were broken and burned with
over 40 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huge riots were caused by the hunger for independence by the people of Congo. The Belgian
authorities prohibited a political/cultural party named ABAKO which was slowly gaining power
in the lower part of Congo. This led to riots for a span of three days and the Belgian government
announced that they would put more Congolese into the government (for moderate nationalists) at
a small scale in hopes of satisfying the demands. (Made a promise of eventual independence to
extreme nationalists). But suddenly there was a surge of political activity. The nationalist s demand
soon grew as fifty political parties were registered competing and Belgian Congo was beyond
control of the Belgian administration.
* When did _________ (your country) achieve independence? Who ended up in power? (Transition)
A: The Republic of Congo achieved independence on June 30, 1960. From January 18 27, 1960, an
event known as the The Roundtable Conference was held in Brussels. Different Congolese parties
attended the meeting to discuss the transition into independence. There were two pivotal leaders,
Joseph Kasa Vubu as President and Patrice Lumumba as Prime Minister.
To what extent were problems facing newly independent countries a legacy of colonial rule? * What
was the condition of the country upon independence? (Identify problems)
A: Coming from colonial rule, the Congolese had minimal knowledge to manage a huge country.

He recognizes the neutrality of the sea and is much more hopeful about his relationship with the sea
than the young fishermen who know nothing of her true nature.
The old man lives a simple life and does not show any signs of incredible intelligence, but he
knows all he could about the natural world and the phenomena (such as weather) that take place.
Santiago s confidence in the future in many ways comes from this knowledge. Before the final
battle with the fish, when the fight had hit a lull, and Santiago was being dragged along, he had
time to observe his surroundings. He looked at the sky and saw the white cumulus built like
friendly piles of ice cream and high above were the thin feathers of the cirrus against the high
September sky. Light brisa (breeze), he said. Better weather for me than for you, fish.
(Hemingway 61). Since the narrator is seemingly looking through the eyes of Santiago ( He
looked at the sky and saw... ), the description of the clouds as friendly piles of ice cream is a
happy view of the weather from Santiago. It is his knowledge of nature and the meaning of cumulus
clouds that gives him the ability to describe them so cheerfully. Furthermore, the light

Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus
Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus A Powerful Tragedy
Titus Andronicus is a play marked by acts of horrific violence and littered with death and the
destruction of others. Each violent act, however, serves to explain and sometimes encourage the
motives of the play s memorable characters and impart a very tightly knotted plot. The structure of
the play employs well defined heroes and villains. Revenge is their key motivating factor. All of
these elements combine to form a cohesive plot and contribute to the overall success of the story.
Shakespeare s sources for the play are quite clear. He makes it no secret that the rape of Lavinia is
analogous to the rape of Philomela in Ovid s Metamorphosis. In this tale, The daughter of the King

iii.). This similarity is not limited to the characters actions, however; Metamorphosis is
mentioned in the play on several occasions. This analogy is first brought out by Lavinia in Act
IV, scene one. The young Lucius has a copy of the book which Lavinia uses to explain how she
was Ravished and wronged, as Philomela was . . . (IV. I. 52). The book is also mentioned in Act V,
scene three, when Titus asks Saturninus,
My lord the Emperor, resolve me this: Was it well done of rash Virginius [Philomela s father] To
slay his daughter with his own right hand, Because she was enforced, stained, and deflowered? (V.
iii. 35 8)
Shortly after Saturninus answers in the affirmative, Titus follows Virginius s lead and kills Lavinia.
These occurrences are not the only unmistakable likenesses, however.
Another popular tale that was published during Shakespeare s lifetime is that of wicked Moorish
servant who is wronged by his master and swears to exact his revenge. One day while the master
is out hunting, the Moor traps the master s wife and two children in their moated tower by raising
the drawbridge. The panicking mistress alarms her neighbors who alert her husband in the forest.

Essay on Johnson and Johnson
After reviewing the Johnson amp; Johnson website I discovered that they had several of the 12
Dimensions of Business Innovation. Of the 12 dimensions, I will identify 6 that I found on the
website.
The first one that immediately stood out would be the Offerings dimension, which is defined as
developing innovative products and services (Kotler amp; Keller, p. 46). One example of the
offerings dimension would be Lubriderm s 3 in 1 Men s Lotion. This lotion is specialized with
minerals and moisturizers that are specifically found in men s skin. The lotion can be used as a
body lotion, a face lotion and a post shave lotion.

The fifth dimension I found was the Customer dimension, which is defined as the individuals or

largest consumer health company and the world s eighth largest pharmaceutical company, thus it is
no surprise that they service customers in need of health and well being ( Johnson amp; Johnson,
2012). Finally, the sixth dimension I found was the Supply Chain dimension, which is defined as
thinking differently about sourcing and fulfillment (Kotler amp; Keller, p. 47). Johnson amp;
Johnson focuses on promoting sustainability throughout their supply chain through their
Procurement Sustainability Initiative, their Carbon Disclosure Project and their Pharmaceutical
Supply Chain Initiative. The Procurement Sustainability Initiative is their process of evaluating
several non financial performance factors when contracting with suppliers, seeking to partner with
those who are aligned with their sustainability commitments ( Johnson amp; Johnson, 2012). Their
Carbon Disclosure Project encourages their supply chain partners to participate in the CSP s Supply

animal cell, and can be seen as the bold line around it.
Nucleus
The Nucleus has a sphere shaped body that encloses a variety of organelles, including the
nucleolus, and is home to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of a cell
inside the chromosomes. It is typically seen as the largest part of the animal cell. The nucleus
controls many of the functions and activities inside an animal cell, and is known as the control
centre of a cell. On the diagram, the nucleolus can be located as the black dot in the middle of the
Nucleus, and is the main site for ribosome formation.
Nuclear Membrane
The Nuclear Membrane surrounds the Nucleus, which is known as a Porous Membrane. This is
covered in pores, which are tiny holes that allow the exchange of RNA to move between the
nucleus and the cytoplasm. Proteins that are desired by the Nucleus are also able to move through
these pores.
Nucleolus
The Nucleolus is the organelle structure inside the nucleus; it supports the synthesis of ribosomes,
which is where the Ribosomal RNA is produced. Some cells

Reflection Paper On Extroverts
Reflection: The topic of introverts should not be compelled into acting as if they are extroverts
that was presented by Susan Cain in her TED talk really connects to me because I personally
identify myself as an introvert. Similar to Susan Cain, I would describe myself as reserved,
mellow and comfortable with being alone. I enjoy being by myself and listening to music while
getting deep into the thoughts in my head. I don t really like getting small casual conversations
with strangers and I get emotionally drained with being in a large group of people. These are
some of the things that my little introverted self likes to do. But being quiet and not outgoing is
not the most desirable thing to do, as this is true for my family, friends and the society.
Throughout my life, I have been forced into thinking that if I don t get out there and approach
people, be as outgoing as I possibly could, I will never be successful in life and have others
appreciate me. In a way, it seem like everyone and everything around me is trying to force me to
be something that I m not, which is being an extrovert. This is the same for society as well.
Society expects everyone, especially those who are introverted to be gregarious and make a
statement or act like an extrovert. Society makes it seem that if we don t be in a certain way, in
this case being like an extrovert, no one will get anywhere in their lives, or we can t have it all .
This concept is heavily used in companies and in the business world. When companies look for
potential employees, they tend to look for those who are outgoing and cordial because they think
that they will represent the company well. Often times these companies won t choose those who
seem introverted because they think that they are too soft spoken to represent them in a way that
these companies want them to. We often think that those who are outgoing and sociable are the
ones who make great leaders. But in fact, introverts are the ones that make better leaders because
they are more likely to have their fellow members to come up with their own ideas. Examples of
great leaders in the world who were introverts are Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Rosa Parks.
While extroverts may not let others form

Imperial Expansion in Global Asia 1400 to 1800
Imperial Expansion in Global Asia, 1400 to 1800
The early modern era, roughly around 1400 to 1800, was significantly marked by empire
expansions. Asian empires like Timur in Central Eurasia, the Ming and Qing, as well as the
Mughals, Ottomans, and Safavids expanded their territories through military conquest and
commercial penetration. As they established political control over much more vast tracts of land,
new commercial networks and culture interactions were also emerged. Also, it was a time of global
imperial expansion. Asia was connected to the broader global interacting patterns with the
increasing involvement of western Europeans.
The Ming (1368 1644) and later the Qing (1644 1911) dynasties of China expanded broadly across
central Asia into Mongolia, Turkestan, and Tibet. The Ming dynasty put a considerable emphasis
on oceanic exploration. A dramatic example of the Ming s prowess at the time can be seen in the
expansive voyages of Zheng He. He commanded the Ming dynasty s fleet of immense trading
vessels on expeditions ranging as far as Africa between 1405 and 1423, helping to extend Chinese
maritime and commercial influence throughout the regions bordering the Indian Ocean. His
Muslim faith and prestigious position in government reminds us of the ethnic and religious
diversity of the vast Chinese empire. Later in the Qing dynasty, China undertook a territory
expansion beyond its boundary to control vast, multicultural, multi climatic realm with centralizing

The New Destination Of Las Vegas
Since you hotel s your playground, where you stay can make a big difference to your experience of
Las Vegas. Here s how to find the hotel of your dreams.
For the first time in years, the number of guest rooms in Las Vegas will grow only slightly in
2001 by 3,000, pushing the total to about 127,000. This modest 2.5 per cent increase from two
years ago is in stark contrast to the extraordinary growth rate of the late 1990s, when the Strip
provided fertile ground for a bumper crop of ever more elaborate hotel casinos, culminating in the
arrival of the Aladdin in summer 2000.
This latest wave of construction, and the numerous expansions and renovations of existing resorts,
have each been characterised by two key features: hotel casinos ... Show more content on

Where to stay
If you want to stay on the Strip, remember it s a 32 mile (5.6 kilometre) hike from one end to the
other. You could spend a lot of time tramping from casino to casino, so consider whether you want
to be based at the north, centre or south. The more recent mega resorts are the most attractive places
to stay, but there are also older properties that retain a charm that hints of old Vegas. The cluster of
Downtown casino hotels do a good job with accommodation, although their dining options are more
limited than those on the Strip, and non gambling entertainment is practically non existent.
Of course, you don t have to stay in a casino. Off the Strip, in the area surrounding the Convention
Center, rooms are aimed at the business traveller and are generally unencumbered by noisy
casinos, while out of town, the Regent in Summerlin and the Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas cater for
visitors who want to combine casino luxury with easy access to the golf course. Casino rooms offer
such good value that the budget accommodation sector is relatively small. In addition to the hostel
on page 62, there are any number of fading 1950s motels cluttering up the more unfashionable
stretches of Las Vegas Boulevard; their modern counterparts, the chain cheapies, can be found all
over town.

Rodrigues, CA, 2001, Fayol s 14 principles of management then and now: a framework for
managing today s organizations effectively , Management Decision, vol. 31, no. 10, pp. 880 889.
Rodrigues discusses in some detail how Fayol s principles of management individually are/are not
used in modern management. He doesn t necessarily hold a contention or argument as he is
ultimately comparing and contrasting the world of management in US organisations from early
1900 s to now. However the result of each of his discussions fall in the same favour each time,
which may potentially be viewed as a bias and further as a limitation of this journal. A further

Pryor, MS amp; Taneja, S 2010, Henry Fayol, practitioner and theoretician revered and reviled ,
Journal of Management History, vol. 16, no. 4, pp. 489 503.
The purpose of this paper by Pryor amp; Taneja (2010) is to illustrate through examining
contemporary management and management theories how Fayol s contribution of his principles
and model theory is relevant in management today.
This is done by a process of researching and examining the work of major academics (e.g.
Mintzberg (1989), Porter (1985), Taylor (1947), Kotter (1982), amp; Berdaves (2002)) Pryor and
Taneja (2010) compare the works and ideas of both Fayol and these authors to find the similarities
and differences between their theories.
A limitation of this article may be the large focus of similarities between studies, paying rare
attention to the differences between Fayol and the given management theorist. Future studies on
this issue should be undertaken in an argumentative manner, given equivalent attention to both
aspects of the argument. Indeed; this article supports the conclusions of similar studies (e.g.
Rodrigues, 2001. Archer, 1990. Fells, 2000) that Fayol s theory is relevant today, and that his 5
management functions are evident in all organisations (Hales 1986). Another shared conclusion
between journals is that Fayol s work sets the foundations of management practise and theory today.
Even though Mintzberg (1973) argues differently, his theory tends to

Bathymetry Plate Tectonics
Discuss how are knowledge of bathymetry has increased our understanding of plate tectonics?
Bathymetry is the study of Floor Ocean. The earth is covered by 70.8% of water; this includes
oceans, lakes, and seas. Bathymetry is created to know information on water behavior for safety
when navigating on the surface or below the water. One of the methods being used today is the
echo sounders which makes use of sound beneath the water; and together with the GPS is it
possible to give a report of the features of underwater. Also maps are important to scientist to learn

Employment relation is one of the vital and critical parts of HRM. For making an effective and
healthy relationship between employers and employees, it is important to understand the perception

an organisation fails to understand its significance of employment relations and unable to manager
employer and employee relationship efficiently, this might lead to impact on the organisation power

Analysis Of Charles Dicken In Great Expectations
Charles Dicken was a white, Christian man who ripped and tore his way up the social hierarchy,
who turned his grimy rags into eternal riches. The fruit of his labor has been transcribed into
dialects and languages that transcend Anglo Saxon society. He is crowned a prince of Victorian
literature and the cerulean sapphire on his crown is his Great Expectations, a bildungsroman at its
finest. First published by Chapman and Hall in 1861, it follows a boy s transformation into a
man in a rotting industrial world. In the end, however, Great Expectations is a novel that
exposes the incorporeal essence s ability to decay but also its resilience, its ability to change:
even if a sentient being is barren of emotion, it can still bloom in the midnight sun. Pip is an
orphan, bred in a land of thunderous skies and wetlands. He found his smile running through the
emerald grass and his frown at his parent s headstones. This countryside was his womb, a misty
bog that fed him and tucked him into bed at night. Indeed, Pip himself wails that he had seen the
damp lying on the outside of [his] little window, as if some goblin had been crying there all
night. . . The marsh mist was so thick, that the wooden finger on the post directing people to [his]

Long Term Effects of Childhood Separation Anxiety
Long Term Effects of Childhood Separation Anxiety
Abstract
This report delves into the connection between childhood separation anxiety disorder and the long
term implications that it may have. To understand the connections I preformed secondary research
through Academic Search Complete . I found that childhood separation anxiety disorder is
connected with serious mental disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia, social phobias, depression, and
behavior disorders. Many studies have shown that childhood separation anxiety disorder is linked
to eating disorders and depression. Research shows that cortisol, the hormone our body releases to
deal with stress, can negatively affect our overall health. Childhood separation anxiety disorder can

The study stated that there was a stronger correlation between childhood separation anxiety disorder
and anorexia than there was between childhood separation anxiety disorder and bulimia.
Cortisol has been shown to have the greatest effect on the health of a person. Cortisol is a
hormone released in stressful situations. Cortisol levels in young children have been shown to
increase when the child is left in the care of someone they are unfamiliar with and when they
attempt to interact or play with large groups of other children. (Turvett 2008) Lack of control in a
situation is associated with a lack of recovery of cortisol, which can lead to a range of negative
health effects. (Ursin 2004)
Discussion
The main purpose of my research was to find the association between childhood separation
anxiety disorder and mental disorders in adolescents and adults. Based on the results, high stress
levels and childhood separation anxiety disorder can be used to predict mental and psychiatric
disorders later in a child s life. When a child experiences the symptoms of separation anxiety
disorder their body releases hormones and if these hormones are heightened or too frequent the
child has a higher risk of eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and behavior disorders throughout
the adolescence and adulthood stages of their life.

Social Media and Sexual Objectification of Women
Today, we live in a world where women are sexually objectified almost everywhere we look.
Halloween used to be fun and all about candy and cute costumes when we were children, but as
time goes on, adult women can feel pressured to dress up as something sexy, like a sexy bunny, a
sexy doctor, or a sexy tree somehow. In the marketing world, we now see women portrayed as
body parts, only having their legs shown in ads to sell the latest designer shoe or their
inexplicably wet lips on a billboard to promote an upper lip wax. Even in television and in
movies, women are depicted as being very sexual by their actions, dialogue, and barely there
clothing. Because of an increase in social media, videos from YouTube are being rapidly shared
between friends and amongst those videos are their favorite music videos from a popular artist.
Music videos have become more and more sexually explicit and include the sexual
objectification of women like the rest of our media, no matter what the genre of music is. One
has to wonder whether or not this kind of exposure has an effect on men and their sexual beliefs.
First, lets explore what is shown in music videos today and how women and men are presented.
Music videos now show that women just don t ever say no to sex and don t have a preference in
men. They will take whoever, whenever. On the off chance they do resist, they give in rather
easily, adding to our rape culture and the belief that no really means yes . Women are also portrayed

an agreed period of time to lessees in return for a sum of payment as in AASB 117 paragraph 4.

A lease other than a finance lease is an operating lease. Generally, the minimum lease payments of

property lease is 4654.7 million, increased from 3242.3 million in 2013. The difference stands for a
43.5% increase based on 2013 figure.
Also in note 29, operating lease payable is 112.9 million, a 32.4 million increase compare to
2013, which is 40.2% of 80.5 million in 2013.
In 2014, the operating lease receivable due within one year is 694.2 million, 28.9% growth
based on 2013 s amount. While total current asset of the Group of 2014 is 1119.5 million, the
operating lease receivable counts for more than half of its current asset. This explains it that the

that the business is growing. It could be a result from the merge

He finds himself and his crew in many situations that lead to death or put them in danger, before

In Narnia, a change in character could clearly be seen from the beginning to the end of the story.
Each of the kids had learned their own lesson from their journey, and became better, wiser
people from this journey. However, in The Odyssey, Odysseus did not show any change. He
continued to make the same mistakes of getting his crew into trouble, and did not come home a
changed man with different morals than he had left with. Furthermore, the children in Narnia did
not want to return home from their journey, it had happened by accident. In The Odyssey,
Odysseus had been working on returning home for 20 years and wants to return home as soon as
possible. The differences between these two stories were made to differentiate between the
different tales, instead of having each story be the exact same setup. These differences are what
allow the Hero s Journey to be used as a basis for each story, but still allow the stories to be
different and have their own characteristics. Ultimately, the two pieces follow the same structure,
but still have their own differences within this structure. The Chronicles of Narnia and The
Odyssey share both similarities and differences between the two pieces; both having similar events
that take places of certain archetypes, but also having different variations of a certain situation in
the story. Narnia follows the Hero s Journey closely and moreover

Punic War Research Paper
There were several outcomes of the second Punic war, which was fought between 218 and 201
B.C.E (Cartwright, 2016). First, we have to establish how the first Punic War ended to appreciate
the outcomes of the second Punic War.
The first Punic War ended when Rome upgraded its sea vessels to march the highly sophisticated
vessels of the Carthaginians. With the superior army of Rome effectively trained and translated to
sailors, the Romans effectively defeated the naval power of the Carthaginians and become the new
naval power while acquiring the Island of Sicily as a province of Rome (Morey, 1901).
Now, the second Punic War introduced a rejuvenated and resurgent Carthaginian army led by a
brave and courageous soldier. His name was Hannibal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, all the cities and regions Carthage had previously conquered and expanded to
would become out of its control. Furthermore, Masinissa was recognized as the king of Numidia
and the ally of Rome. We should retrospect that the kingship of Numidia was under contention by a
rival, name Syphax. Meanwhile, Masinissa, the embattled king of Numidia had rendered some
assistance to Scipio, when they two met in Africa. So it was not surprising to see the outcome of
the second Punic War consolidate the kingship on Masinissa.
Another outcome of the second Punic War was that Carthage was to pay an annual tribute of
200 talents for fifty years. Well, the consequence of losing a battle was either to become a
province under the victor or pay a painful fine. In the case of Carthage, the fine was a yearly
tribute of 200 talents, which is the equivalent of $250,000 in today s revenue. Additionally,
Carthage agreed not to wage any war without the consent of Rome. This is quite a domination of
the winner to the loser. Even in the face of a massive threat, Carthage would have to seek the
permission of Rome to defend

The Thirty Years War
That said, the Thirty Years war can thus be considered as the starting point of the Modern era, as it
represents a cornerstone in the history of international relations and in the way states deal with the
resolution of crisis. Beyond the remodelling of Europe, the Westphalia treaties erected the seek of a
status quo as a paradigm between powers. Further, these treaties have also erected the European
sovereign Nation State as a key principle of international relations, preventing in theory from any
hegemony in Europe. In this way, the notion of a European balance of power announces the reign
of coalitions against the most powerful to prevent him to triumph and dominate Europe. Thus, the
Thirty Years waris a political milestone, since it symbolizes the advent of the Modern era and the
primacy of politics upon religion. However, the impacts of this war are not limited to political
considerations.
Indeed, as people is the second pillar of the Clausewitzian trinity, the Thirty Years war can also be
analysed through the prism of its massive social and demographic consequences. Considered as a
civil war and still cited as an example of barbarism, this war represents a revolution in the sense that
populations have undergone the violence of combats at an unprecedented scale. Albrecht von
Wallenstein, commanding general of the Holy Roman imperial armies, besides emphasised the idea
that war should finance war , meaning that populations were then the impotent victims of armies

place, whether it is a mass or single grave site. Some of the basic information needed would be
the number of victims or the year of burial. This information will help plan for the number of
workers, resources, and equipment needed for the excavation to take place. When locating a
suspected grave site, the main source is a witness, it is important to get information from more
than one witness because a witness may be under emotional stress, which may cause them to

I would first look at a satellite image of the reported area where the victim is buried. The
reasoning for this is to get an idea of how many people are needed, which direction to bring the
equipment and most importantly where to start the search. If my department has access to a
cadaver dog, I would use this resource to locate the reported grave site. According to dog trainer
Sharon Ward from Portland, Ore. Cadaver dogs have a 95 percent accuracy rate of finding scents
of human decomposition and scattered remains. So, by using a cadaver dog it saves manpower
and recourses for the department but is also very reliable in getting the job done. Once a burial site
is located by the cadaver dogs I would then set a datum and grid, located and map all surface
artifacts, remove all surface debris by hand (e.g. leaves, loose twigs) and cut growing plants
close to the surface. When I come upon the cadaver, I should maintain control and slowly expose

The Negative Differences Of A Centralized Government In...
The Texas government reflects a negative attitude towards having centralized governments. A
centralized government is when the power of the government belongs to very few people and is not
dispersed among a larger group. That could include things like monarchies and dictatorships where
there only a single authority. Centralized governments is exactly the opposite of what Texas
displays. Texas is an example of a decentralized government where the power is dispersed
amongst a group of multiple people. There is no single authority in a Texas government because
it includes many people with power like attorney generals, governor, senators and
representatives. What really makes Texas decentralized is the citizens having the ability to
choose whoever they want to have power in the Texas government. A city council is considered
the body in cities that have corporate status and also have a local government. Their
responsibility is to create laws which affect all of the residents that live in the certain city which
they work in. Every city has a different number of city council members and the type of district
that they are responsible for representing varies from city to city. In some cities the council
member is elected by the whole city in a similar method to the way that a mayor is elected.
Another way of electing city council members is by electing them to represent certain parts rather
than the whole entire city being represented by just one member. The final way is by a

The purpose of a cell membrane is to control the transport of substances moving into and out of a
cell. The membrane is an extremely thin layer (8 to 10 nanometers (nm)) thick, which is partially
permeable. It consists mostly of lipids and proteins. The lipids found in cell membranes belong to
a class known as triglycerides, so called because they have one molecule of glycerol chemically
linked to three molecules of fatty acids. The majority belong to one subgroup of triglycerides
known as phospholipids.
The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer. The hydrophobic tails of the detergent
molecules are taken up by this bilayer. The detergent s hydrophilic heads will then repel (Micelle,
an electrically charge particle built up from polymer molecules or ions and occurring in certain
colloidal electrolytic solutions like soaps and detergents) the individual phospholipids and this will

What Are The Similarities Between The Great Depression And...
Introduction
The world has encountered two major economic slumps since World War I. The Great
Depression was the longest financial crisis witnessed by the modern world. It started at around
October 29th, 1929 and lasted up to the beginning of the Second World War in 1939 (Temin 301).
The great depression was by far the worst and longest economic crisis ever recorded in modern
history, until towards the end of 2007. The next economic crisis that would be comparable to the
Great Depression occurred in the late 2000s, precisely between December 2007 and June 2009
(Roberts 1). It would be popularly referred to as the Great Recession. The Great Depression and the
Great Recession were undoubtedly similar in multiple ways. This paper aims at comparing these
two great economic crises by highlighting their similarities. This paper answers the question How
similar were the failures of the financial markets during the great depression ... Show more content

During the Great Depression, households had to keep up with increased rates both on income and
excise tax. The highest mark was at 79% in terms of marginal tax. Most Americans, however, lay
within the 50% tax rate (Cole, Harold and Lee 159). Entrepreneurship and capital intensive
investments were also greatly affected, with the government requiring more than half of any
income exceeding a set value. Due to the decreased investment by entrepreneurs, the joblessness
problem was further compounded. Similarly, the Obama administration recommended significant
tax hikes, planned for the future. Some of the items that the Obama administration had
recommended were tax hikes on included liquor, cigarettes, plane tickets, and soft drinks.
Furthermore, the many tax breaks that had been enacted under President Bush were discontinued.
President Bush had implemented tax cuts on capital gains tax, income tax, and estate

Stuart Mill Eccentricity
In On Liberty, Mill talks about eccentricity and its direct connection to the amount of moral
courage that exists inside of a society. Mill states, Eccentricity has always abounded when and
where strength of character has abounded; and the amount of eccentricity in a society has
generally been proportional to the amount of genius, mental vigor, and moral courage which is
contained. That so few dare to be eccentric marks the chief danger of the time. (64). Eccentricity
has always gone hand in hand with high sense of character, genius, mental vigor, and moral
courage. Mill writes that if you have a great mind, then it is your duty to follow your intellect to
what it brings you to, and to not let oppositional opinions to stop your from following... Show more

When we have unified enough knowledge, we will understand who we are and why we are
here, (Wilson 7), it is necessary for humans to find and understand who they are and why they
exist. According to Wilson the unification of knowledge can also liberate the mind. He writes
about the myth of Icarus, and his attempt fly using wings made of wax and feathers. His father
warned him to not go near the sun, however he didn t listen and his wings melted and he fell to
his death. This can be viewed as the daring of human endeavor as well as punishment of
foolishness. It is also an attempt to test how far can humans go. Another belief that Wilson has
is the clash between empirical and transcendental views. Wilson explains this, The choice
between transcendentalism and empiricism will be the coming century s version of the
struggle for men s souls, (Wilson 240). Empirical views are like scientific belief and theory, this
according to Wilson, is completely necessary in order for us to understand the world around us.
Transcendental view is a religious view and often opposes the empirical views and discoveries, this
clash has been going on for thousands of years. Wilson himself was raised in a very religious
society and was a strong believe as well, however he opened up his mind to science and it changed

The History of and Issues surrounding the Same-Sex...
Same sex marriage is one of the leading political topics in the United States today. There is an
ongoing dispute pertaining to the legalization of same sex marriages. America has shifted its head
to focusing on supporting same sex marriage or not. Many are for and against this topic but there
has been no settlement for it yet. Homosexuals want to marry for the same reason that
heterosexuals have and there should be no reason why they are not allowed to. There is some
history behind this topic but there has yet to be a solution.
During World War II and well after that brought many different social and political changes to the
United States of America. One of the major changes was the discovery of homosexuality. In 1969
the Stonewall riots ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In May of 2009 the fifth state, Maine, passed legislation for same sex marriage. Then on June third
of the same year John Lynch, the New Hampshire governor, signed a legislation allowing same sex
marriage. This makes New Hampshire the sixth state in the nation to allow same sex marriage. In
this same year President Obama signs a referendum allowing same sex partners to receive benefits
through federal employees.
Homosexuals should be able to be legally married in all the United States due to the fact that
their spouses will be able to get benefits, able to make medical decisions if need be, and get
property inheritance. Even though people believe that civil unions and domestic partnerships are
an alternative to marriage they are wrong. There should be no reason why same sex couples
cannot get married in any place in the United States. The states that do not allow same sex
marriage are severely hurting same sex couples because they are the ones that have to pay when it
comes to medical decisions, employee benefits, and even adopting children. People do not know
this side of the same sex marriage issue and that is what they need to pay more attention to.
When denying homosexuals the right to marry society is saying that gays and lesbians do not have
the same rights as a heterosexual couples and that is not right. Denying marriage to same sex
couples also has emotional and financial

My Experiences Of My Life In High School
Ang pangalan ko ay Bianca, My name s Bianca. but my friends call me B for short. I do have
various witless nicknames like Bob or BB Grill but I wouldn t prefer being called any of those
names unless you want the whole class to laugh. During my first day, I perceived Stockdale as a
welcoming school. Especially because my teachers were affable and approachable. I am aware of
all the obstacles along the way, but that s not going to stop me from reaching my aspirations. All in
all, I m looking forward to spending my high schoolyears in Stockdale and I know it will provide
me with good memories, knowledge and fun times.
For most of my life, I ve lived in the Philippines and I was born on April 14, 2003. Moving from
the Philippines had been my biggest travel so far, and since then, I haven t visited back home. One
of the reasons why we moved is because my Mom wanted to live closer to my Step Dad. Now, we

Coming from the Philippines made me different from others. I can speak in Tagalog, and I have

Analyzing Esoteric Alchemy And The Alchemist
Alchemy began in Hellenistic Egypt particularly in Alexandria. Alexandria was founded in 332
B.C, and quickly became the heartbeat of Hellenistic cosmopolitanism. The Art itself had both
exoteric and esoteric purposes, which were centered on the transmutation of base metals into silver
and gold. Exoterically speaking it took the form of crafting matter into items of value. However, as
a natural development the material means and ends of the Art were often intermixed with the
immaterial world. Both were interdependent and intermixed with each other in various ways.
Historical analyses of exoteric and esoteric Alchemysuggest that it is impossible to fully separate
the two because they are sympathetic to each other. Simply put, whether or not the Alchemist
understands esoteric immaterial factors of the practice still have an impact. The purpose of this
paper is to analyze esoteric Alchemy and to discuss what the immaterial means and ends of the
Work could have meant to the Alchemist, and concludes that the Art was a work of crafting the soul.
The approach used in this paper will first examine Hellenistic cosmopolitanism through the idea of
the supernatural, the soul, and virtue, and then I will discuss Alchemy as understood by from and
close to the Hermetic tradition.
Many Alchemists had an understanding of the natural and supernatural that parallels antique
thought as a whole. Common in the culture was a desire to understand, communicate, and develop
virtue. There was

Google the meanings, use Math is Fun (Piece, 2017) for illustrated math vocabulary words,
Spelling City (Vocaulary Spelling City, 2017) which can be used for vocabulary for all subject

the definition of the word, but also give a concrete example of the words meaning. Once she has
her word list set with the definitions and meanings, she then can prepare her mind to be ready to

Null Hypothesis Research Paper
The null hypothesis stated that birds have no seed preference, so therefore they will eat the same
amount of each of the seed types and the alternate hypothesis stated that if the bird have a seed
preference, then they would choose the black oil seed because they were the easiest to open,
contained lots of fat, and were small enough for smaller beaked birds to eat. The null hypothesiswas
rejected because p value, 3.2 x гЂ–10гЂ—^( 27), was less than the alpha value, .05, therefore, the

The birds ate 27 safflower seeds, 51 striped sunflower seeds, and 59 black oil seeds, which
further disproves the null hypothesis. During the experiment, one feisty grackle guarded the
bird feeder containing safflower seeds. This could have deterred certain birds from going to this
feeder therefore effecting the amount of safflower seeds that were eaten. The chickadees are
small birds that are easy prey for larger birds and other animals, so to escape predation; they
quickly grab seeds from the feeder and fly away. In the process of hastily grabbing the seeds and
flying away, they could have dropped the seed before they got around to eating it. This could
also happen for other bird that accidently drop their seeds when they dispose of the hull or
because it was a bad seed. The groups calculated how many seeds were ate by the birds by
counting the amount of times a bird visited the feeder, but this does not mean that the bird actually
ate the seed. These are all possible sources of error that could have affected the results of the Chi
Square Test, therefore throwing off the resulted p value that rejected the null

Using Porous Organometallic Compounds For Various Material...
Introduction
In the past century extensive research has been conducted on porous organometallic compounds
for use in various material applications. Although numerous compounds containing Lewis bases,
such as nitriles and bipyridines and have been reported to be successful at the sorption of small
molecules, the desorption of the guest often leads to structural collapse of the host. 1,2 Metal
organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown to be a valuable class of newer materials that can support
permanent porosity upon the evacuation of the framework. Unlike zeolites, which are fully
inorganic, the flexibility in the choice of the organic linker comprising the backbone of the MOF
structure makes the size of the poragen formed tunable for a wider ... Show more content on

One of the original and still most active fields of research in metal organic frameworks is in gas
separation. While the ability of both rigid and flexible MOFs to adsorb is based on such factors
as geometry of the gas as well as sorbate sorbent interactions, flexible MOFs are also dependent on
structural rearrangements and the ability of the pore to change with thermodynamic conditions.
Currently, most MOF investigations into gas separation are conducted by measuring the sorption
and desorption of specific gases and relating isothermic data. MOFs are being looked to as next
generation gaseous adsorbent materials in both industrial and environmental applications.9 One
particular gas that is of growing environmental concern is CO2. As a byproduct of human created
combustion activities, particularly in developed nations, the need to capture and sequester CO2 is
becoming ever more apparent. In order to adsorb CO2, a metal organic framework must be
functionalized for high selectivity towards the gas as well as possess the necessary enthalpy of
adsorption. MOFs with open cation sites such as MOF 74 derivatives, as well as those containing
amine functional groups are especially useful.10 The

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With stop and wait ARQ, the sender stops and waits for a response from the receiver after each message or data packet. After receiving a packet, the receiver sends either an acknowledgment (ACK) if the message was received without error, or a negative acknowledgment (NAK) if the message contained an error. If it is an NAK, the sender resends the previous message. If it is an ACK, the sender continues with the next message. Stop and wait ARQ is by definition, a half duplex transmission technique. With continuous ARQ, the sender does not wait for an acknowledgment after sending a message; it immediately sends the next one. While the messages are being transmitted, the sender examines the stream of returning acknowledgments. If it receives an NAK, the sender retransmits the needed messages. Continuous ARQ is by definition a full duplex transmission technique, because both the sender and the receiver are transmitting simultaneously (the sender is sending messages, and the receiver is sending ACKs and NAKs). 22. Transmission efficiency describes the efficiency of a transmission method, how likely errors are, and generally how many packets reach the destination in the correct format, and how many overhead bits are required to ensure it reaches the destination error free compared to how many actual bits of wanted data reach the ... But the Court expects that after 25 years the use of ethnic preferences will not be necessary to interest the authorization if they accept the student or not. After some time, the public universities and also the other public institutes, of higher education, across the Unites States were allowed to use race as one of the factors defining if the student will be admitted or not. Any higher education should not be a governmental interest if the school should use race as a source of having some kind of diversity in the schools. And if the program uses smart decisions to achieve that end, most likely the Court will find the situation constitutional. Also the majority of decisions by Sandra O Connor were to try to have the goal be the general society. Two different people had problems with Bollinger, Gratz and also Grutter, with two different cases, and they affirmed and refined the position of the Supreme Court by the affirmative action of a quarter century. • 7. Essay on The Success of the Willie Nelson Concert Experience The concert of the Willie Nelson Experience (WNE) was a huge success. Our success shook the roots of Arlington. Our rock n roll took us to the top. Although street performing is not as easy as it looks, our legend of the great Willie Nelson Experience begins now. In this paper, I am going to discuss my experiences playing in the WNE, the bass guitar, and the one and only Willie Nelson. In the legendary WNE, I am the bass player. For this project, it took hours on end of studying the bass inside and out to become this legendary player that I dreamt of before this project. The electric bass, a mystical object that is the foundation of every song, was invented by Paul Tutmarc. Since the 1960s the bass guitar has replaced other instruments... Its the violin shaped bass that Sir Paul McCartney often plays. The double bass, or upright bass has many different names. My favorite is the doghouse bass. This bass is often used in jazz. People play this by plucking or slapping the bass. Another common use is in orchestras. People play this style with bows. This bass is the largest and lowest pitched instrument of the viol family. The viol family contain the viola, violin, fiddle, and many others. The upright bass was the inspiration of all basses. I was the first bass and probably most important because of the sparks it caused for new invention. All basses are in my opinion the most important instruments because they hold everyone together. Learning to play the bass was my pleasure and I feel its something I will use for the rest of my life. The WNE was inspired by Willie Nelson. In our first performance, we featured On The Road Again (OTRA) and it was a huge hit. OTRA was written early in 1979 on a train. Willie Nelson was studying his lines for the movie Honeysuckle Rose when the executive producer asked him to write the theme song for their movie. 35 minutes later, written on a barf bag, Willie Nelson had possibly the greatest country hit in his hands. Willie Nelson had many albums that were critical to hi success. Shotgun Willie (1973), Red Headed Stranger (1975), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A: Elections were held in rural areas(small cities) for reform and democratization of local government. 1958 was a year of vigorous political discussion at issues of society in Belgian Congo. The whole turning point of their advocacy for independence was during January 4 6 in 1959. In January 4, a riot broke out in Leopoldville due to the fact that an Abako meeting had been banned. Huge riots were caused by the hunger for independence by the people of Congo. The Belgian authorities prohibited a political/cultural party named ABAKO which was slowly gaining power in the lower part of Congo. This led to riots for a span of three days and the Belgian government announced that they would put more Congolese into the government (for moderate nationalists) at a small scale in hopes of satisfying the demands. Santiago s confidence in the future in many ways comes from this knowledge. Before the final battle with the fish, when the fight had hit a lull, and Santiago was being dragged along, he had time to observe his surroundings. He looked at the sky and saw the white cumulus built like friendly piles of ice cream and high above were the thin feathers of the cirrus against the high September sky. Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus A Powerful Tragedy Titus Andronicus is a play marked by acts of horrific violence and littered with death and the destruction of others. Each violent act, however, serves to explain and sometimes encourage the motives of the play s memorable characters and impart a very tightly knotted plot. The structure of the play employs well defined heroes and villains. Revenge is their key motivating factor. All of these elements combine to form a cohesive plot and contribute to the overall success of the story. Shakespeare s sources for the play are quite clear. The book is also mentioned in Act V, scene three, when Titus asks Saturninus, My lord the Emperor, resolve me this: Was it well done of rash Virginius [Philomela s father] To slay his daughter with his own right hand, Because she was enforced, stained, and deflowered? Animal Cells And Their Functions Animal cells and their functions Cell Membrane The cell surface membrane is a semi permeable membrane whose function is to control the exchange of substances between the cell and its environment. Semi permeable means that only certain molecules are allowed to be transported in and out of the cell. The membrane is mainly made up of Lipid and protein. On the diagram, the Cell Membrane forms the outer shell of the animal cell, and can be seen as the bold line around it. Nucleus The Nucleus has a sphere shaped body that encloses a variety of organelles, including the nucleolus, and is home to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of a cell inside the chromosomes. It is typically seen as the largest part of the animal cell. The nucleus controls many of the functions and activities inside an animal cell, and is known as the control centre of a cell. On the diagram, the nucleolus can be located as the black dot in the middle of the Nucleus, and is the main site for ribosome formation. Nuclear Membrane The Nuclear Membrane surrounds the Nucleus, which is known as a Porous Membrane. This is covered in pores, which are tiny holes that allow the exchange of RNA to move between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Proteins that are desired by the Nucleus are also able to move through these pores. Nucleolus The Nucleolus is the organelle structure inside the nucleus; it supports the synthesis of ribosomes, which is where the Ribosomal RNA is produced. Some cells ... • 20. Reflection Paper On Extroverts Reflection: The topic of introverts should not be compelled into acting as if they are extroverts that was presented by Susan Cain in her TED talk really connects to me because I personally identify myself as an introvert. Similar to Susan Cain, I would describe myself as reserved, mellow and comfortable with being alone. I enjoy being by myself and listening to music while getting deep into the thoughts in my head. I don t really like getting small casual conversations with strangers and I get emotionally drained with being in a large group of people. These are some of the things that my little introverted self likes to do. But being quiet and not outgoing is not the most desirable thing to do, as this is true for my family, friends and the society. Throughout my life, I have been forced into thinking that if I don t get out there and approach people, be as outgoing as I possibly could, I will never be successful in life and have others appreciate me. In a way, it seem like everyone and everything around me is trying to force me to be something that I m not, which is being an extrovert. This is the same for society as well. Society expects everyone, especially those who are introverted to be gregarious and make a statement or act like an extrovert. Society makes it seem that if we don t be in a certain way, in this case being like an extrovert, no one will get anywhere in their lives, or we can t have it all . This concept is heavily used in companies and in the business world. When companies look for potential employees, they tend to look for those who are outgoing and cordial because they think that they will represent the company well. Often times these companies won t choose those who seem introverted because they think that they are too soft spoken to represent them in a way that these companies want them to. We often think that those who are outgoing and sociable are the ones who make great leaders. But in fact, introverts are the ones that make better leaders because they are more likely to have their fellow members to come up with their own ideas. Examples of great leaders in the world who were introverts are Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Rosa Parks. While extroverts may not let others form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imperial Expansion in Global Asia 1400 to 1800 Imperial Expansion in Global Asia, 1400 to 1800 The early modern era, roughly around 1400 to 1800, was significantly marked by empire expansions. Asian empires like Timur in Central Eurasia, the Ming and Qing, as well as the Mughals, Ottomans, and Safavids expanded their territories through military conquest and commercial penetration. As they established political control over much more vast tracts of land, new commercial networks and culture interactions were also emerged. Also, it was a time of global imperial expansion. Asia was connected to the broader global interacting patterns with the increasing involvement of western Europeans. The Ming (1368 1644) and later the Qing (1644 1911) dynasties of China expanded broadly across central Asia into Mongolia, Turkestan, and Tibet. The Ming dynasty put a considerable emphasis on oceanic exploration. A dramatic example of the Ming s prowess at the time can be seen in the expansive voyages of Zheng He. He commanded the Ming dynasty s fleet of immense trading vessels on expeditions ranging as far as Africa between 1405 and 1423, helping to extend Chinese maritime and commercial influence throughout the regions bordering the Indian Ocean. This is done by a process of researching and examining the work of major academics (e.g. Mintzberg (1989), Porter (1985), Taylor (1947), Kotter (1982), amp; Berdaves (2002)) Pryor and Taneja (2010) compare the works and ideas of both Fayol and these authors to find the similarities and differences between their theories. • 30. Long Term Effects of Childhood Separation Anxiety Long Term Effects of Childhood Separation Anxiety Abstract This report delves into the connection between childhood separation anxiety disorder and the long term implications that it may have. To understand the connections I preformed secondary research through Academic Search Complete . I found that childhood separation anxiety disorder is connected with serious mental disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia, social phobias, depression, and behavior disorders. Many studies have shown that childhood separation anxiety disorder is linked to eating disorders and depression. Research shows that cortisol, the hormone our body releases to deal with stress, can negatively affect our overall health. Childhood separation anxiety disorder can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study stated that there was a stronger correlation between childhood separation anxiety disorder and anorexia than there was between childhood separation anxiety disorder and bulimia. Cortisol has been shown to have the greatest effect on the health of a person. Cortisol is a hormone released in stressful situations. Cortisol levels in young children have been shown to increase when the child is left in the care of someone they are unfamiliar with and when they attempt to interact or play with large groups of other children. (Turvett 2008) Lack of control in a situation is associated with a lack of recovery of cortisol, which can lead to a range of negative health effects. (Ursin 2004) Discussion The main purpose of my research was to find the association between childhood separation anxiety disorder and mental disorders in adolescents and adults. Based on the results, high stress levels and childhood separation anxiety disorder can be used to predict mental and psychiatric disorders later in a child s life. When a child experiences the symptoms of separation anxiety disorder their body releases hormones and if these hormones are heightened or too frequent the child has a higher risk of eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and behavior disorders throughout the adolescence and adulthood stages of their life. • 31. Social Media and Sexual Objectification of Women Today, we live in a world where women are sexually objectified almost everywhere we look. Halloween used to be fun and all about candy and cute costumes when we were children, but as time goes on, adult women can feel pressured to dress up as something sexy, like a sexy bunny, a sexy doctor, or a sexy tree somehow. In the marketing world, we now see women portrayed as body parts, only having their legs shown in ads to sell the latest designer shoe or their inexplicably wet lips on a billboard to promote an upper lip wax. Even in television and in movies, women are depicted as being very sexual by their actions, dialogue, and barely there clothing. Because of an increase in social media, videos from YouTube are being rapidly shared between friends and amongst those videos are their favorite music videos from a popular artist. Music videos have become more and more sexually explicit and include the sexual objectification of women like the rest of our media, no matter what the genre of music is. One has to wonder whether or not this kind of exposure has an effect on men and their sexual beliefs. First, lets explore what is shown in music videos today and how women and men are presented. Music videos now show that women just don t ever say no to sex and don t have a preference in men. They will take whoever, whenever. On the off chance they do resist, they give in rather easily, adding to our rape culture and the belief that no really means yes . Women are also portrayed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He continued to make the same mistakes of getting his crew into trouble, and did not come home a changed man with different morals than he had left with. Furthermore, the children in Narnia did not want to return home from their journey, it had happened by accident. In The Odyssey, Odysseus had been working on returning home for 20 years and wants to return home as soon as possible. The differences between these two stories were made to differentiate between the different tales, instead of having each story be the exact same setup. These differences are what allow the Hero s Journey to be used as a basis for each story, but still allow the stories to be different and have their own characteristics. First, we have to establish how the first Punic War ended to appreciate the outcomes of the second Punic War. The first Punic War ended when Rome upgraded its sea vessels to march the highly sophisticated vessels of the Carthaginians. With the superior army of Rome effectively trained and translated to sailors, the Romans effectively defeated the naval power of the Carthaginians and become the new naval power while acquiring the Island of Sicily as a province of Rome (Morey, 1901). Furthermore, Masinissa was recognized as the king of Numidia and the ally of Rome. We should retrospect that the kingship of Numidia was under contention by a rival, name Syphax. Meanwhile, Masinissa, the embattled king of Numidia had rendered some assistance to Scipio, when they two met in Africa. So it was not surprising to see the outcome of the second Punic War consolidate the kingship on Masinissa. Another outcome of the second Punic War was that Carthage was to pay an annual tribute of 200 talents for fifty years. Well, the consequence of losing a battle was either to become a province under the victor or pay a painful fine. In the case of Carthage, the fine was a yearly tribute of 200 talents, which is the equivalent of $250,000 in today s revenue. • 35. The Thirty Years War That said, the Thirty Years war can thus be considered as the starting point of the Modern era, as it represents a cornerstone in the history of international relations and in the way states deal with the resolution of crisis. Beyond the remodelling of Europe, the Westphalia treaties erected the seek of a status quo as a paradigm between powers. Further, these treaties have also erected the European sovereign Nation State as a key principle of international relations, preventing in theory from any hegemony in Europe. In this way, the notion of a European balance of power announces the reign of coalitions against the most powerful to prevent him to triumph and dominate Europe. Thus, the Thirty Years waris a political milestone, since it symbolizes the advent of the Modern era and the primacy of politics upon religion. However, the impacts of this war are not limited to political considerations. Indeed, as people is the second pillar of the Clausewitzian trinity, the Thirty Years war can also be analysed through the prism of its massive social and demographic consequences. Considered as a civil war and still cited as an example of barbarism, this war represents a revolution in the sense that populations have undergone the violence of combats at an unprecedented scale. • 37. The Negative Differences Of A Centralized Government In... The Texas government reflects a negative attitude towards having centralized governments. A centralized government is when the power of the government belongs to very few people and is not dispersed among a larger group. That could include things like monarchies and dictatorships where there only a single authority. Centralized governments is exactly the opposite of what Texas displays. Texas is an example of a decentralized government where the power is dispersed amongst a group of multiple people. There is no single authority in a Texas government because it includes many people with power like attorney generals, governor, senators and representatives. What really makes Texas decentralized is the citizens having the ability to choose whoever they want to have power in the Texas government. A city council is considered the body in cities that have corporate status and also have a local government. Their responsibility is to create laws which affect all of the residents that live in the certain city which they work in. Every city has a different number of city council members and the type of district that they are responsible for representing varies from city to city. In some cities the council member is elected by the whole city in a similar method to the way that a mayor is elected. This has been shown by a steady increase in Anthon cyanine leaked out of plant cells as the concentration and temperature increases. The purpose of a cell membrane is to control the transport of substances moving into and out of a cell. The membrane is an extremely thin layer (8 to 10 nanometers (nm)) thick, which is partially permeable. It consists mostly of lipids and proteins. The lipids found in cell membranes belong to a class known as triglycerides, so called because they have one molecule of glycerol chemically linked to three molecules of fatty acids. The majority belong to one subgroup of triglycerides known as phospholipids. The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer. The hydrophobic tails of the detergent molecules are taken up by this bilayer. The detergent s hydrophilic heads will then repel (Micelle, an electrically charge particle built up from polymer molecules or ions and occurring in certain colloidal electrolytic solutions like soaps and detergents) the individual phospholipids and this will mean they are disrupted . The detergent will then enter the cell, and the tonoplast surrounding the membrane. Alexandria was founded in 332 B.C, and quickly became the heartbeat of Hellenistic cosmopolitanism. The Art itself had both exoteric and esoteric purposes, which were centered on the transmutation of base metals into silver and gold. Exoterically speaking it took the form of crafting matter into items of value. However, as a natural development the material means and ends of the Art were often intermixed with the immaterial world. Both were interdependent and intermixed with each other in various ways. The Ha hypothesis was accepted because the birds ate 59 black oil seeds, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The birds ate 27 safflower seeds, 51 striped sunflower seeds, and 59 black oil seeds, which further disproves the null hypothesis. During the experiment, one feisty grackle guarded the bird feeder containing safflower seeds. This could have deterred certain birds from going to this feeder therefore effecting the amount of safflower seeds that were eaten. The chickadees are small birds that are easy prey for larger birds and other animals, so to escape predation; they quickly grab seeds from the feeder and fly away. In the process of hastily grabbing the seeds and flying away, they could have dropped the seed before they got around to eating it. This could also happen for other bird that accidently drop their seeds when they dispose of the hull or because it was a bad seed. The groups calculated how many seeds were ate by the birds by counting the amount of times a bird visited the feeder, but this does not mean that the bird actually ate the seed. These are all possible sources of error that could have affected the results of the Chi Square Test, therefore throwing off the resulted p value that rejected the null ... • 50. Using Porous Organometallic Compounds For Various Material... Introduction In the past century extensive research has been conducted on porous organometallic compounds for use in various material applications. Although numerous compounds containing Lewis bases, such as nitriles and bipyridines and have been reported to be successful at the sorption of small molecules, the desorption of the guest often leads to structural collapse of the host. 1,2 Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown to be a valuable class of newer materials that can support permanent porosity upon the evacuation of the framework. Unlike zeolites, which are fully inorganic, the flexibility in the choice of the organic linker comprising the backbone of the MOF structure makes the size of the poragen formed tunable for a wider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the original and still most active fields of research in metal organic frameworks is in gas separation. While the ability of both rigid and flexible MOFs to adsorb is based on such factors as geometry of the gas as well as sorbate sorbent interactions, flexible MOFs are also dependent on structural rearrangements and the ability of the pore to change with thermodynamic conditions. Currently, most MOF investigations into gas separation are conducted by measuring the sorption and desorption of specific gases and relating isothermic data. MOFs are being looked to as next generation gaseous adsorbent materials in both industrial and environmental applications.9 One particular gas that is of growing environmental concern is CO2. As a byproduct of human created combustion activities, particularly in developed nations, the need to capture and sequester CO2 is becoming ever more apparent. In order to adsorb CO2, a metal organic framework must be functionalized for high selectivity towards the gas as well as possess the necessary enthalpy of adsorption. MOFs with open cation sites such as MOF 74 derivatives, as well as those containing amine functional groups are especially useful.10 The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Reading Anchor Classroom Throughout this year I have been given various amazing opportunities for professional development. Being a reading anchor classroom has given me a variety of opportunities to complete professional development. Two of the most impactful pieces of professional development that I received were, training on the architecture of a mini lesson and creating a demonstration notebook. These two pieces have significantly helped me to increase studentengagement for my whole class as well as in small groups and individual conferences. I have also worked very hard to consistently be aware of the level of engagement in my classroom. When I notice students aren t engaged I try to change my approach in order to increase engagement. • 53. Returning Home Alive Creative Writing It has been quite some time since I have last seen you. If all goes well, hopefully I will be able to see you again! People are dying all around me and I fear I may be next. I thought that I would write to let you know that I am fortunately well but there are many things that have been troubling me. On the first day of battle, many soldiers were sent in to the area between our land and our enemy s land, what we call no man s land . It was muddy and the tanks were unable to make it through, leaving our men vulnerable. So many men died that I began to lose hope that I could ever return back home alive. Although the weather is beginning to clear up now, a few days back the rain came down on us as if it was our enemy. The revolting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the gunfire, machine guns and bombs. They keep me awake at night as the shots fired echo through these smelly tunnels and ring through my ears. The only place to rest is the uncomfortable dirt dugouts which is the same place we can jump in to avoid any bombs. This whole place is unwelcoming. How I wish I had some of your delicious meals to eat, as the food here is tasteless, disgustingly chewy and simply awful. I receive little food and it is always chunks of fatty meat and vegetables in thin gravy. It has been forever since I have had a hot meal or even a clean shower. A month has not yet passed and already I cannot stand these trenches. These trenches are filled with the unexpected and the diseases are beginning to take power. Sadly, my friend Parker, fell ill and died yesterday. I did not realise how deadly trench fever caused by the lice could be until yesterday. Also, day after day, countless soldiers fall and these fat disgusting rats eat away at the dead remains of my brave fellow soldiers. These dirty, wet trenches near the Somme River in France are a true nightmare. They are full of awful things I fear may lead to my downfall. Mother, should I not return, please carry ... • 54. Doctor Of Osteopathy Degree I aim to pursue a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. But the question that may arise is why this school? Why choose to pursue a D.O. degree instead of an M.D. degree? I prefer to study for the former, as it teaches students to treat a patient as a whole person, rather than isolate a particular area and treat that alone. It teaches to take into account all factors, all bodily systems, into one, when looking at a patient. I personally believe that is a key when it comes to diagnosis and treatment. Having been established one hundred and ten years ago, PCOM is one of the finest institutions of its kind, educating osteopathic physicians and specialists. Their receiving of a $1.4 million federal grant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Hotel and Tourism Management The author would like to carry out the primary research of this study at the Hotel and Tourism Management Institute, Switzerland which is a well renowned institute and is one of the leading hotel management schools in the country. It is also known for its high quality and globally recognized masters, degree and diploma courses. HTMi caters to over 200 students every year, providing them with world class education while encompassing a strong family environment amongst students from varied walks of life. O Mahony et al., (2001) and Purcell and Quinn, (1996) state that students that enlist in hospitality degree programs are mostly inspired by the anticipation of vocational and career outcomes. Connolly, P. and McGing, G. (2006) mentions that designing significant educational programs for the hospitality industry is not a simple and easy task, as there are continually unresolved debates between scholars and practitioners about the suitable balance between academics and profession. Hospitality management vocational degree programs aim at satisfying a common need in the industry for skilled future employees and hence, it is required by educational institutions to ensure the academic curriculum not only meets educational epecations but also student and industry expectations (O Mahony, et al. 2001). Raybould, M. and Wilkins, H. (2005) examine that the educators in the hospitality industry have for a while now, recognized the significance of matching the program outcomes with needs ...
