Piaget s Psychological Analysis
The theorist Erik Erikson once said: There is in every child at every stage a new miracle of
vigorous unfolding, which constitutes a new hope and a new responsibility for all. Human
development follows a sequence of achievements; yet, the exact age and time when it will transpire
is unpredictable. In contrast to what Piaget believed, today s psychologist promote the thought that
children master certain goals at various ages, rather than following an exact blueprint. To support
this belief, one needs to deeply analyze Piaget s four cognitive stages of development. Thus,
scrutinizing in debt each individual phase will result in accurate conclusions. Observing children in
their natural habitat, taking note of their behaviors and reactions to... Show more content on

As Piaget has predicted, the children all agreed that they now have more liquid in their glasses
since their cup is taller. To further support this theory, I administered my own experiment. I had the
children look at a chair across a room and say if it is possible for them to touch it from their current
position. They all agreed that it is impossible. Thereafter, I told them to focus on the object through
a pair of binoculars and see if they can reach it now. Instantly, the children, with outstretched arms,
exclaimed that of course they can since now it is within their distance. This experiment further
supports Piaget s study.
Although Jean Piaget proved his four stages and experimented in debt to reach a conclusion,
observationists nowadays often contradict his facts and prove some errors. Hence, the sequence of
the developments are usually accurate, the age base that Piaget assigned them to is underestimated.
Children far younger than the suggested ages grasp concepts that Piaget believed unattainable at
those years. All things considered, psychologists and researchers, although often in disagreement
with Piaget s theories, still base their studies and observations on his

Imagery In Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth is written as a deceptive character through Shakespeare s use of detailed imagery
throughout Scene V in Act I of Macbeth. The line Look like th innocent flower/But be the serpent
under t refers to the Bible and how the snake represented temptation and evil, which is what Lady
Macbeth is doing (and how she is acting) toward Macbethand trying to get him to toughen up and
agree with her idea of assassinating the king (1.5.57 8). Shakespeare s imagery of the serpent
paints the character of Lady Macbeth, and sets the tone of her first scene as defiant, showing the
audience her true colors and intentions. Another use of imagery through Lady Macbeth is at the
beginning of the scene with the vivid image of yet do I fear thy nature/it

The Columbian Exchange
The Columbian Exchange The Columbian Exchange is non fiction book written by Alfred W.
Crosby JR. It illustrates the important events that transpired when Columbus came to America in
1492. I initially chose this this book because I wanted to know more about Europe s effects on
America, and how Columbus altered the flora and fauna of America for better and for worse. As I
started to read further into the book I immediately was captivated by all the information that was
hidden within the text. The book started out by contrasting the Columbian Exchangeto the early
human migrationsand early land bridges. I believe this is especially important because, it gave e a
better understanding of how early humans developed a pattern and a need to explore new lands.
This quote states, The connection between the Old and New Worlds, which for more than ten
millennia had been no more than a tenuous thing of Viking voyages, drifting fishermen, and
shadowy contacts via Polynesia, became on the twelfth day of October 1492 a bond as significant
as the Bering land bridgehad once been (Crosby 3). This is a particularly important sentence in the
book because it gave me a tie between mankind s migrations throughout the earth. The Bering land
bridge was used as a rout for human migrations from Asia to the Americas about 20,000 years ago.
Knowing this gave me a sense of what the book was about. When Columbus came to America one
of the big effects that occurred was disease. As Crosby explains,

Descriptive Essay On The Fourth Of July
Fourth of July. It is pitch black and everyone is waiting for the sky s performance. The patriotic
American song starts in the background and I look around to see where the fireworks will start
streaming. My eyes fixate on the dazzling sparks of colors and heart hammering noises, but the
moment that I break eye contact with the sky, I look down upon the crowd. There is a light
performance going on the ground level. A mob of phones pointed into the sky orchestrated the
performance; their lenses were a curtain to the actually performance taking place in the sky.
Realistically, these pictures will never see the light of day again. How often does someone go back
and diligently strip search their photo album to find that radiant pink firework that

The Importance Of Infrastructure Security By Analyzing One...
Introduction
During the last decade, information technology has become an increasingly pervasive issue present
in each of the corporate structures (Exhibit 1). Even more recently, the idea of utilizing a cloud
based infrastructure has become an idea that is more and more adopted by the business in an intent
to facilitate data processing and availability. Nevertheless, with cloud computing comes several
confidentiality issues that worry its users, especially those users who utilize the platform to transit
huge amounts of delicate information. These issues have led companies to establish IT departments
that are able and equipped to handle the data challenges such as data theft, among others, that arise
with the information being on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The breach was carried through what is referred to as a memory scraping software, which once
installed in a computer, is able to store sensitive information such as: names and credit card
numbers. Although, it is unknown how these hackers were able to install this software into target
s point of sale systems, experts affirm that it could have been installed by anyone who had access
to the company s POS system. What is scary is that this malicious software could have been
downloaded by a target employee after innocently clicking on a link from an anonymous email or
downloading a free disguised software program from the internet. The software could have also
been installed by the thieves themselves through a physical security breach into any of Target s
thousands of stores nationwide or even in its headquarters. To make matters even worse, the breach
could have also intentionally come from someone within the IT department in the organization.
Whichever the case may be, I guess we will never know. What is important to recognize though,
was this giant s response to deter the breach and its actions in restoring and improving the
organization s IT structure.
Target s Response
After the data breach that the company experienced, Target knew that something must change in
order to improve their security in the system and improve customer credibility. For this reason,

Cold Sad End It s occasionally said that human beings are the only creatures who are aware of
their own death, but is this actually true? The term death is often used lightly and has been made
into something of an unimportant subject. Fact of the matter is that many of us don t want to think
about death, we live in a death denying culture. Few individuals truly grasp the concept of death
and how it can distort the lives of the people it comes in contact with. I was among the naГЇve until

Invisible Child In The Shadows Dasani s Homeless Life
Within the confines of this text I will be exploring the New York Times article invisible child in the
shadows Dasani s homeless life. Dasani s life will be examined through the lenses of five different
theories. The five theories will be, Health and wealth connection theory, cognitive theory,
psychoanalytic theory, attachment theory, and relational theory. To be summed up in the end with
the conclusion.
The Health and wealth connection distilled is our health will most commonly reflect from our
amount of wealth. The wealthy can afford the cost of quality care and the time to take care of them
selves. Within the textbook, Dimensions of Human Behavior Hutchison writes. Public health
experts have long noted the association of poor health outcomes, in all body systems, with low
income, low education, unsanitary housing, in adequate healthcare, on stable employment, and
unsafe physical environment (Hutchison, 2015). Easily demonstrated throughout American society
the rather dubious and is somewhat perplexing phenomenon of the Health and Wealth connection
theory. The gap between the haves and have nots are ever expanding. Those who have the funding
to pay for resources will pay to get those resources. And those who do not have adequate funding to
pay for said resources will unfortunately have to stand in the long lines to receive seemingly,
deceptively, scarce resources.
Looking at Dasani through the ever changing and expanding theory of the Health and Wealth
connection. The

Gladiator Essay
Opening Battle Address to the Roman Cavalry If you have watched the movie Gladiator, you
have probably heard the famous speech delivered by Maximus Decimus before the start of the
opening battle. General Maximus Decimus Meridius is Emperor Marcus Aurelius most trusted
general of the Roman Empire. As introduced in the beginning of the speech, Maximus isn t just a
general, but a farmer too. That shows pathos because even though he has a more prominent title,
Maximus is still just like all of the other soldiers in the army. The speech is given in 180 A.D.,
where a battle is about to be fought between the Germanic barbarians and the Roman Cavalry. The
start of war between these two armies dates far back in time. They have been fighting forever...

He says, Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. He s trying to tell the soldiers that if they
imagine themselves making it through the battle, then they will. He does this himself by
saying, Three weeks from now I will be harvesting my crops. Maximus wants his soldiers to
visualize where they want to be after they win the battle. The General shows a close relationship
with the soldiers by calling them his brothers. This shows ethos because he is describing them as
a close family instead of just fellow soldiers in battle. Maximus also tries to relax the soldiers
before going in battle by saying, If you find yourself alone riding in green fields with the sun on
your face, do not be troubled, for you are in Elysium and you re already dead. He s trying to
make a point by saying that the worst thing that can happen, is that they die and they won t have
to fight anymore. Yet if they die, they will be remembered for the great deed that they have
done. The last line, and the most important one in the speech is: What we do in Life echoes in
Eternity. This line metaphorically demonstrates how people are remembered after death. Even
after death, people will be remembered by their actions in life. By saying this, he is encouraging
them to fight so they will be remembered as heroes instead of cowards that were too afraid to even
try. So even if a soldier dies in war, they will be glorified by their sacrifice on the

Types Of Database For Flat File Database
Types of Database
1.Flat File Database
A flat file database is an excellent way of storing a pretty small amount of records. Flat file can be a
plain text file. Flat file are generally not a structural relationships between the records. For
example a spread sheet application such as Excel can be used as a flat file database. Each row in a
worksheet can be a record and each column and a field. Flat file database can also be stored in a
dedicated database application such as Access.
Installing database in flat file database has the following advantages:
All record are storing in one place
Easy to set up using a number of standard office applications
Easy to understand
Simple siting of records can be carried out
Record can be viewed or extracted on the basis of criteria
Flat file database has a few disadvantages:
One of the most important ones is the data often repeated many times
There is no referential integrity
Harder to update
Almost no security
Harder to change data format
A flat file database looks something like this:
2.Relational Database
Relational Databases is a structural collection of records in a computer system. Relational
Databases has more than one table and the tables are connected using a unique identifier for a
database record. For example a library database could have three tables such as customer, books
and landing.
The following advantaged of relational database:
The book s details and the customer s details need

Gaius Julius Caesar s Impact On The Classical Era
Gaius Julius Caesar, one of history s greatest generals was said to be born on the 12th or 13th of
July in the year 100 BC (Before Christ).Caesar s supreme leadership traits had been stemmed
directly from his Roman roots. And had allowed him to achieve many successful campaigns
between the years 49 44BC. These campaigns had then allowed for the spread of his influence
throughout the Classical Era as referred to by Source A . This spread of positive influences had
then laid down the foundations for Rome to continually dominate the politics of Europe, North
Africa and the Near East completely from the 1st century BC (100 BC) 4th century AD(400 years
After the Death of Christ). However, Gaius Julius Caesarhas also been blamed as being one who
brought negative influences on the Classical Era. (120)
According to Source B it is seen that Gaius Julius Caesar was a leader of the highest calibre.
Gaius Julius Caesar was born to two Aristocrats namely Gaius Julius Caesar his father and
Aurelia Cotta his mother. In Caesar s early years he decided to make himself champion of the
people. This key point of evidence can be seen according to Source C. When Julius Caesar was ...

Definition of the Term Protocol
Protocol.
The term comes from the Greek protokollon, which was the cover page to a manuscript that
provided a description of the contents...how fitting a choice. In context, it is defined by American
Heritage dictionary as a code of correct conduct. In layman s terms, protocol is simply the rules
and customs of a group or a standard procedure.
Let s look at protocol in application, specifically in the armed forces. The importance of maintaining
correct protocol and Military bearing on and off duty, is essential because to show disrespect to an
NCO when in uniform could cause disrespect among civilians about the military in general. Any

The military recognizes that respect for authority is what maintains order and prevents the eruption
of chaos and is hence willing to set an example for all who might be tempted to oppose their
leaders, by administering these punishments first hand without any judicial representatives.
Furthermore, Article 90 makes it clearly illegal to disobey an order by a military officer.
In society there has to be a guideline something that regulates the conduct of people toward each
other. Just think of it in smaller terms, in a family environment. Mother and Father establish rules
by which children have to abide.
For example, when parents tell their children that they cannot scream and yell at each other they
are establishing with their children some (very important) protocol. It regulates the behavior of the
children and as much is a huge factor in why positive protocol is so important. The conduct
between people in a society is better because of it. Since the children from the above example
establish guidelines not to scream and yell at each other, they in turn become more effective
communicators. This positions the children to contribute on a greater level later in life.
On a larger scale it sets the stage for an environment where that behavior is something that is not
desirable, therefore creating a new norm.
We can also take a stance here at the importance of protocol in an academic setting. It

Importance Of A Flower In My Life
Cake, flowers, presents, flowers, family, flowers. Never before did I think a flower could change
my life. The one flower, just one of millions, changed everything. It wasn t just a flower. No, it
was far more. Everything changed. The people, the places, the activities. Everything in my life
changed. My life was taken on a rollercoaster. It was flipped. It was turned upside turn. It climbed
high, just to fall back down. When it would reach the top of the climb, I would feel as if I was
free falling and never going to stop. My stomach would leap from my chest, just as it did the
many times I was frightened. I would corkscrew through uncertain times. Only it wasn t just on a
ride. I couldn t tell myself it was just for fun or that it was going to be over soon, because I didn t
know that. My stomach would lurch and I would sometimes just stay still, completely petrified.
Not knowing what to do, who to talk to, or what to say. I didn t know the next step I should take.
Any one step in the wrong direction could make me fall right off the track. Many times, I would
try to take small steps, to avoid falling off the track. Although, sometimes a roller coaster would
come from behind and hit me. I didn t figure out who to trust early enough and I would be on my
own against the one who wanted my to fall. Then my mindwould go back to the flower. I can picture
that flower in my head, like it was only yesterday. The image is crisp in my mind. Some other

education and love.

of her young age she is quiet honest and this allows her to paint a great picture to the audience of
the brutal abuse that Eugene bestows upon his family. This is as a result of her sensitive, intelligent

household. This setting is the only setting in the entire book where domestic violence is present.
Adichie uses a variety of things and rooms within this setting to bring out domestic violence some
examples are the figurines, Eugene and Beatrice s room and the bathroom.
4b) the entire setting of Nigeria brings out the theme of oppression especially political
oppression. All of Nigeria is suffering as a result of the political oppression, including Abba
Town, Enugu and Ifeoma s village. The road setting also shows political oppression, especially
when persons are stopped and searched by the military for no good reason.
4c) Religion is explored through setting, Adichie uses Aunty Ifeoma s home to teach Kambili things
about religion different that she had been taught be her father. It was in Aunty Ifeoma s house that
Kambili understood her grandfather s traditionalist religion and was able to make a link between
Catholicism and Traditionalist.

Silence In Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston And The Mother
Language is not always sufficient for telling stories, especially difficult narratives. The most
difficult stories are those that force characters into situations with no desirable outcomes. The short
story Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston and the poem the mother by Gwendolyn Brooks deal with
vastly different topics, but share the difficulty of narrating women s stories. Hurston and Brooks
also share similar views on the use of silence in writing, its use and effect. These texts define
silencing broadly, such as not expressing an opinion about an action, denying a character a voice, or
even the absence of new language. While Sweat and the mother agree that silencing usually
amplifies women s stories better than language, Hurston takes... Show more content on

The syntax of the punctuation also creates pauses. Pausing forces reflection: each space of not
speaking allows for the processing of the emotions Brooks presents. By pausing and thinking, the
emotions can become personal rather than the emotions of the speaker. Silence through repetition
thus allows traumatic stories and the related emotions to present themselves in full via reflection.
Similarly, Sweat repeats the final words of the story to allow a better grasp on Delia s experiences,
and mainly achieves this through the investigation of what the text does not say. After Delia sees
Sykes s swollen eye and neck, she leaves the house. She sits outside in the heat while inside she
knew the cold river was creeping up and up to extinguish that eye which must know by now that she
knew (9). The repetition of knowledge pervades. Like in the mother, pauses occur here, too, but for
a different reason. The phrases he knew, she knew, and [the eye] knows cause pauses to think about
what each person knows. Through this reflection, knew obtains a new meaning each time, because
Hurston forces the acknowledgement of each character s personal story. Without thinking and
seeking out the experiences of the characters, there cannot be any understanding of the knowledge.
Silence invites the investigation of what is not spoken, and eventually the understanding of the

The Fathers Of The Family
The fathers of the family were constantly out working in the fields, and the mother of the family
would either be cleaning, taking care of infants, or cooking for her family. So, from the time
children are able to walk, they have to discover ways to pass the time. Just like today, some
activities were restricted due to the weather outside. For example, during the winter season pigs
were being slaughtered. Children would go to the slaughterhouse and pick up the pigs bladders
and blow them up like balloons. Also during the wintertime, it would snow. Just like children
today, kids would go out in the streets and participate in snowball fights. When it was summery
outside children would go to ponds or streams and have water fights with their friends or siblings,
because during this time water fights were a popular form of recreation. Other forms of recreation
were: fighting battles with wooden swords, competing in little play tournaments, and playing hide
and seek. Chiara Frugoni noted in her book: We known more about medieval children s games ever
since a whole collection of toys made of clay was discovered during the nineteenth century in
Strasbourg, in the workshop of a thirteenth century potter: bird shaped whistles, miniature tiles and
pitchers, tiny moneyboxes, little dolls, and diminutive horses with riders on their backs. (Frugoni,
p. 131)

Essay On The Movie Coraline
In terms of plot, the movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman s Coraline is extremely true to the source
material. It still tells the story of a young girl who grows unappreciative of her real family and
finds a magical door in her new home that leads to a better, fantastical version of the family she
has now. The creepiness and scary moments are also true to form, with this world being only a
copy of the real world, created by the Other Mother in an attempt to trap Coralineforever. The quest
to rescue the three ghost children is almost exactly the same, with two of their souls being found
in Miss Spink and Forcible s theater and Mr. B s circus. But since the movie added a scene in
which an enticing garden is used as an item to gain Coraline s trust in the Other Mother s fake
world, one of the ghost souls was placed in this location instead. Another major difference
between the book and the movie is the addition of the character Wybie. He acts as a source of
inside knowledge about The Pink Palace and helps kill the Other Mother s hand at the climax of
the movie, while in the book Coraline gathered her information about her home from her parents as
well as Miss Spink and Forcible, and killed the Other Mother s hand by tricking it rather than
crushing it. The use of stop motion animation was also a benefactor in bringing this terrifying story
to a visual format, as stop motion tends to look uncanny and unsettling at times. Both works are
masterpieces of writing and storytelling, and

Delegation Decentralization
DELEGATION Delegation is an integral component of the organizing process. Since manager is
responsible for the performance of such a large variety of tasks, activities and functions that he
cannot perform them all by himself, he assigns a part of work to his subordinates. In doing so he
keeps with himself those tasks and functions which he consider crucial to his goal accomplishment
and transfer to his subordinates less important work which he need not to do himself. It is through
this process of assignments of task and activities to his sub ordinates that he can devote his time,
energies and attention to the basic managerial functions of planning coordinating and controlling.

A Cinderella Story Essay
A Cinderella Story
When examining adaptations of fairytales you must look at the original source. This can be a
very difficult task because with fairytales we never really know where the original came from. I
will base my paper on the theory that the original tale of Cinderella comes from the Grimm Brothers
version of Ashputtle. In comparison we will examine two movies. First there is the Disney version
Cinderella. Secondly we will look at the movie Ever After .
Characterization is an important aspect of any story or film, because it sets what the entire film will
be about, and how the audience will absorb it. In the story of Ashputtle . The characters include

Cinderella in this film is portrayed as a sweet and innocent child who years to be loved after her
father passes on leaving her in the care of a very evil stepmother. The character of the prince was
very different then in the first film. In the other film we find that the prince has feelings and
emotions, whereas in this film, he is portrayed as a very dedicated man who falls in love and
becomes obsessed. The odd thing about his character is that he is not seen very much in the film,
it focuses more on Cinderella, and her family and her attempts to go to the ball . Also it focuses on
the fact that the king is forcing his son to marry.
Viewpoint affects many different aspects of a story and film. When we look at the story we
read it from the viewpoint of ?Ashputtle?. This viewpoint in the story is Omniscient Narrator =
which is an objective, non participating all seeing mind . In the story version the author plays
the role of narrator, as he is the one telling the story. In the first film Ever After the point of view
is told from the first person point of view. First person = describes a character who participates in
the events of the story and tells it in an subjective fashion. We see examples of this when we view
the film, because when the characters that portray the Grimm Brothers come to the palace and then
the great, great, great granddaughter of the real Cinderella tells the story. The second

My First Goal As A Man Of Value
My whole life I have always wanted to be a man of success and a man of value. I had many goals
when I was young, and two of those goals are very dear to me. My first goal was to become a
successful entrepreneur like my father. And second goal was to come to America and get an
education from any university here, which I am currently working on. From my parents, I learned
that I needed educationin order for me to succeed throughout life. Since I was a very young man I
have always valued and tried to get the best education there is. I come from a very strong business
family, I have always focused my interest for my career in marketing and advertising. My father
owns his own company, and he is constantly traveling and I am a person who love traveling, which
inspires me to follow that path.
Since I was young, I have been learning new things. These lessons were formal as found in
academic studies, and I had jobs, through those jobs I had additional training, personal learning,
and in the pursuit of my own interest and hobbies. Despite on where or how I got knowledge, how
we approach learning is very different to each individual based on learning styles. As very different
individuals we all learn differently. Some people learn by actually touching the subject, some by
hearing, and some seeing. Through this paper I will talk about my personal reflection of my
learning style. Through the essay I will talk about my strength and my weaknesses and talk about
some opportunities

Should Companies Bear The Corporate Social Responsibility...
Should companies bear the corporate social responsibility of employment practices among the
multinational corporations?
This essay will illustrate why the specific ethical issue is essential, analyse further ethical question,
define current comprehension of ethical issues, analyse the act of ethical utilitarianism by
forecasting three important positive and three important negative consequences, and should
companies bear the corporate social responsibility or not.
Firstly, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been argued since the 1950s and the definition
of CSR is continually changing. It also demonstrated as resolving social issues (Wood and Logsdon
2002). Because CSR is focusing on estimating the social economy, which depends ... Show more

Donaldson (1989, cited in Secchi, 2007:359) found that general ethics, when manager have great
idea find out invisible profits and unlimited resource. Because without concentrating on the practical
managerial approach, a few of negative consequences happen like protests, boycotts, and strikes.
The third theory is which elements will affect employee s commitment. Towers Perrin (2009)
figured out that community advancement is the third most significant driver of employee
engagement.
For example, in America, company s competence is the second most considered factor, and the
following factor is the company s duty for workers in general. In conclusion, CSR theories such
as utilitarian, managerial and relational approaches are commonly using. Thirdly, in the global
world, as a result of multinational employment, there are a plenty of CSR issues that are even
much complex and difficult that before. One of the issues is extra legal which is voluntary, not
compulsory. Because of the voluntary, sometimes big companies do not follow the rule of CSR.
For example, the famous brand like Nike faces tremendous pressure in order to be liable to
employees. They arouse acrimony through the indirect business strategies such as providing low
cost conditions to labours. Hence, to be capable achieving liable, companies need to be responsible.

Asian Americans in the Classroom Essay
Asian Americans in the Classroom
Asians are one of fastest growing minority groups in America today. During this century, various
factors at home and abroad have caused people from Asia to immigrate to the United States for
better or for worse. Due to these factors, Americans and American teachers, in particular, need to
educate themselves and become aware of the Asian American studentsneeds in terms of success
and happiness. Before beginning my research, I felt I had an easy subject: studying Asian Americans
in relation to their education in public schools. How simple! Everyone knows they are smart, hard

Among the stereotypes of Asian Americans, the myth of the Model Minority and Panethnic Identity
are among the easiest to attribute to Asian Americans. What exactly are these stereotypes? How did
they come about? Whose responsible for perpetuating these terms? And what harm are they are they
doing to Asian Americans anyway?
Where to Begin: A Brief History of Japanese Immigration
The Issei (first generation) Japanese came to the United States during the first years of the Meiji
era after the Tokugawa system of economics and politics collapsed in the 1850s and 1860s. One
contributing factor was the visit of an American fleet commanded by Commodore Matthew Perry
whose fleet of tall ships demanded Japan open its doors to trade and contract with the outside
world. Merchants, students and the lower economic strata of tenant farmers, agricultural labourers
and owners of very small plots of land were among the first to emigrate to the U.S., mostly through
Hawi i.
In 1910, Japanese are banned from marrying non Orientals and the practice of arranging for
picture brides began. During the first two decades of the 1900s, more than 20,000 Japanese women
arrived, more often than not as picture brides (Mei T. Nakano, p. 24). These women only knew their

about the educational programs have been on the rise. This article discusses what could be a
contributing factor to these frustrations and possible solutions to alleviate them. Bowman and

compensation. Bowman and Dodge stated in the article that the amount of complaints about
low compensation are in the minority, and this could be one of the reasons that more has not
been done to increase the compensation for athletic trainers. The article also discussed that the
NATA was doing more to help with increasing the pay, but more people are needed to bring the
topic to a larger issue. I also found the article helpful in that I am currently looking for schools to

more than financials and requirements of a program when I look into different schools. While
these are important things to consider, I now know to be aware of what I don t want in a

There are those images that attract the eyes immediately with its abstract features and colors. Then
there are the pictures with deep, symbolic messages trying to persuade. However, some images are
made specifically for the purpose to promote someone or a product, and they usually use methods
that guarantee will either be controversial, or popular. For example, in the music industry, the main
purpose is to stand out. One of the music bands that always stand out are Iron Maiden. Derek Riggs,
the artist of most of the band s artwork, created the famous album artwork: Life After Death in
1985. Many people can see the relation of the dark theme album to the band s dark, heavy rock
music. Derek Rigg was inspired mainly by the main mascot of the band, which is a skeleton,
named Eddie. It is presumably rising from the death, or from its grave with the headstone reading,
Edward T H : the mascots full name. The visual analysis includes the complex forms and colors that
surround the dark theme. The colors, setting and tone are the most essential when it comes to the
final understanding of what the image wants to portray.

The Causal Effect Of Class Sizes On Educational Outcomes...
Introduction Parents and politicians alike have fixated on class size ever since the beginnings of
modern education. Conventional wisdom holds that smaller classes lead to better educational
outcomes after all, fewer students imply greater one on one instructional time, and disciplining
overcrowded classrooms is arguably more difficult. Still, hiring more teachers is far from cheap, so
policymakers have a vested interest in determining the effectiveness of smaller classes. Historically,
isolating the causal effect of class sizes on educational outcomes has proven challenging. With
factors from socioeconomic standing to innate IQ affecting student learning, teasing out the effect
of class sizes is rather challenging. Although economists have executed randomized experiments in
states like Tennessee (Finn and Achilles 1990), such experiments are limited in size. Yet a paper by
Joseph Angrist and Victor Lavy suggests an alternative (and more importantly, feasible) way of
quantifying this effect.
Ancient Religion and Modern Policy
Indeed, as Angrist and Lavy note, an eight hundred year old religious decree offers an unusually
effective way to separate the influence of reduced class sizes from that of factors like parental
involvement and remedial education programs. This decree, named Maimonides Rule after the
twelfth century Rabbinic scholar, requires two teachers [to] be appointed [...] if there are more
than forty [students in a class]. In other words, if a local Israeli

DRUIDS
Who were the Druids?
The stereotypical image of a Druid is one of a thoughtful philosopher and magician, schooled in
the lore of the traditions, and in charge of the education of the chieftains as well as those who
sought to obtain knowledge considered obscure by the rest of society. They were knowers of truth,
able to manipulate that truth as well as inform others of it. Druids not only influenced society
religiously, they also influenced it socially i.e. they took on the parts of teachers, judges, magicians,
craftsmen, advisors, priests, and masters of ceremonies, and in doing so, were greatly respected in
society.

Mistletoe is, however, very rarely found, and when found, it is gathered with great ceremony and

attired in a white vestment ascends the tree and with a golden pruning hook cuts the mistletoe
which is caught in a white cloth. Then next they sacrifice the bulls praying that the gods will make
their gifts propitious to those to whom they have given it. They believe that if given in drink the
mistletoe will give fecundity to any barren animal, and that it is predominant against all poisons.

The Importance Of Psychological Awareness In Raymond...
Psychological Awareness What do you think of when you think of the 80 s? Girls dressed in
bright neon clothes that had shoulder pads and leg warmers, with hair teased so high it didn t
look natural, and wearing bright blue or pink eyeshadow? Or maybe boys in all denim, pinned to
look tight jeans with an oversized denim jacket? It was a time for fashion and music to thrive. It
was completely normal to be all about me in the 80 s. Raymond Carvers Cathedral was written in
1983, and the narrator is very self absorbed and insular. This coincides with the ambience of the
time period, reflecting the majority of society. The narrator s wife has an old friend, who
happens to be blind. His wife has just died, so he is going to stay with the narrator and his wife
for a bit. The narrator is very passive aggressive towards him and even pulls childish pranks on
him. Eventually the two are left alone and the narrator realizes how narrow minded he has been
his entire life. In Carver s Cathedral, the narrator s lack of social depth and tolerance for others
mimics that of the societal norm, which reverses when his wife s blind friend, Robert, strains the
narrator s mentality.
The narrator is a characterized representation of society, and how society can change when
immersed in deviant lifestyles. According to Kirk Nesset (1994), Still, Carver implies, it is through
our collaboration with others that we free ourselves from the slavery of self absorption (para 30).

At such a young age, children (including myself) simply wanted a doll to play with. We did not

history, and their stories help young children learn and love history. To begin, the American Girl
Doll franchise was created by Pleasant Rowland. Rowland and her team created each doll with a
historical time period in mind, and each American Girl Doll came with its own meet me type

Analysing Theories Of Loss And Grief In Social Work Practice
Analyse theories of loss and grief in respect of their relevance for social work practice
Both grief and loss are an inevitable part of human existence and are at the heart of life and
growth (Walter and McCoyd, 2009). Some losses are painful and consequently trigger grief,
however some losses are natural and a part of development, such as maturation, and usually seen
as progression but can also present as a loss. An element of social work is to assist service users in
their growth, for example from childhood into adolescence, and offer support through difficult
losses. Loss can occur within a wide spectrum of experiences; such as death and bereavement; loss
of identity for example losing something defining, for instance faith or religion; ... Show more

Yoga
1.1 Introduction
The word Yoga (/Л€joК
ЉЙЎЙ™/) in Sanskrit means to bind, to join, to yoke as well as union,
communion. Traditionally it is a spiritual, mental as well as a physical practice or discipline which
originated in India. In the west yoga is often perceived and taught as a pure physical training.
It thus means the yoking of all the powers of the body, mind and soul to God; it means the
disciplining of the intellect, the mind, the emotions, the will, which that Yogapresupposes; it means
a poise of the soul which enables one to look at life in all its aspects.

1.2 Asanas
Asana practice and yoga practice are not one and the same. Asana is but one part of what yoga is
about. (see 1.1 introduction).
Asana practice covers the main task of hatha yoga (see 1.3 different approaches to yoga) and is the
third part of PataГ±jali s eight steps to attain the highest state of consciousness.
Traditionally ДЃsana means sitting condition or posture , it contributes to the steadiness of the
body and the mind and to a sense of well being. The term posture does not fully cover the meaning
of ДЃsana though. In a posture the state of mind is not of importance. Postures are created and held
below the level of consciousness. e.g.: involuntary lifting of the shoulders while under stress,
although the person is sitting quite comfortably in a chair.
Asana is acquired voluntarily. A thought process is avoided, one is supposed to concentrate on the
breathing or the universe while maintaining the ДЃsana. In ДЃsanas exercises the muscles, joints
and nerves while being maintained in a steady manner. When ДЃsanas are done accordingly, the
eyes are closed or looking to the ground and the facial muscles are relaxed which contributes to

The Change Of The East India Company Monopoly
In the four months that he was in England, Say was confronted on the things he saw, the things he
admired and those that he deplored. Still in England, Say was able to make crucial friendship
networks with well known economist such as, David Ricardo, Jeremy Bethem, James Mill and
Thomas Malthus. At the time, he visited Glasgow; he got a chance to sit on the professorial chair
of Adam Smith, and this marked an emotional period in his life. Without a doubt, his perspective of
England could not go without observation and criticism of his fresh acquaintances, particularly
their view on the East India Company monopoly, as well as, the agricultural protectionism of
England via the Corn Laws. However, both of the problem eventually came to an... Show more

It would help them create the basis in which they would get to criticize the decisions of the state.
Say gave lectures at the conservatory for about ten years. It was in the acceptance that he coexisted
in a government that was doubtful of academic critics. During this time, some of the people who
talked about things that the state was not pleased would have their course closed.
Finally, prior to his death, about a year or less, Say was given a political economic chair at the
France College. Say was for the thought that, his discipline should have the name social economy,
as economic policies, and economic laws impacted the society as a whole.
Even though he was not feeling well in his last years of life, Say was still productive and was still
writing, overseeing and lecturing the fifth version of his famous book Treatise which was
published in 1826. Say s wife died in 1830, which led to Say being depressed and lonely. In 1832,
weeks later after his opening lecture at the France College for the opening term, Say died at the
age of sixty five.
Say got credited with more than what came to get known as Say s Law of Markets. Say was
neither the first person nor one of the first people to introduce unique economic concepts into the
paradigm of the classical school. Examples of such concepts are entrepreneur, services, and utility.

Looking Out for Number One T.H. Breen
Bri Swartley
An Analysis of Looking Out for Number One:
Conflicting Cultural Values in Early Seventeenth Century Virginia by: T.H. Breen
I believe what Breen is trying to say in his essay is that the Englishmen that came to Virginia
were very different from the settlers of other colonies and they had a much different society
develop than what was typical in the other colonies. They were a highly individualistic society.
Breen believes that the personalities of those who came to Virginia were, in part what caused
Virginia s society to become so individualistic. Being so individualistic didn t exactly work out so
well for the structure of society or the well being of the colonists. Breen says that the first people to

Virginia had a slave population of 187,600 in 1770 (135). This number is more than double that of
any other colony at the time.
4. I do agree with Breen s point of view and for the most part it agrees with our text. I would
probably be more likely to agree with Breen that the people of Virginia did not form a military
band and fight back against the Indians especially how the text talks about Indians remaining a
strong presence. It wouldn t make much sense for the Indians to remain a strong presence if they
are constantly being attacked by the settlers. I think the reason that the Indians stayed around is
because Virginia was not effectively fighting them off because they didn t have any type of
formalized military, or formalized anything for that matter, not even schools.
5. Slavery in New York City, 1731 ALAW For Regulating Negroes and Slaves in the Night Time I
don t think that this document had too much to do with Breen s essay Looking Out For Number
One but rather it comes slightly later. I do think that the drastic rise in slave labor shows how
Virginia was willing to exploit people in order to turn a profit and how it would be necessary for
them to enact laws regulating the liberties of slaves to keep them from rising up when the population

Elizabeth Woodville And Anne Boleyn
Women throughout history rarely receive attention for more than superficial causes: their influence
on style, manners, or less. However, many women found themselves contributing to the formation
of postmodern constructs of marriage for love, partnership, and fidelity. Foremost among these,
temporally and popularly, are the examples of Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Boleyn
. Undoubtedly,
these cases hold great significance to cultural studies of the temporal periods in which the
English identify as participants, but they also aid in seeing the eventual popular degradation of
women from chaste matrons and aloof maidens to lusty bawds and traitorous whores. By this
degradation and extensive primary sources, scholars can easily find these women as examples
of the use of one s image for power in redefining concepts of queenship, and also women who set
the standard to view the gradual combination of partner and lover in understanding social history.
Aristocratic women in the Court system as a whole find relatively little attention by the most
popular works on its culture. David Starkey , Alison Weir , and David Gunn , even though they
offer insights on topic largely relegated to popular histories and romances; women, in fact, receive
little merit for their Courtly careers. Yet, it is important to recognize that the late medieval and
Tudor Court offered an increasing number of roles for women to fill, as well as, a semblance of
stability. The key to the ability for young women to

Examples Of Coming Of Age In A Portrait Of The Artist As A...
Anthony Ingracia Cpt.Griffin English 303 AP 9 February 2011 Coming of Age A Portrait of the
Artist as a Young Man is a complete work of art, complete in the sense that it gives such great
insight to human nature and the people of the world. The title is essentially what this novel
represents. The coming of age is represented like a portrait because it takes a long time, with
many different attempts, to reach the final work of art. In even greater context, the protagonist
experiences a series of epiphanies in which he gains insight into his own nature and into the people
of the world. In the main characters coming of age there are crucial components that are lost and
gained, which can be derived from his love of family, religion,... Show more content on

The fact that the temptations are still there though worries him, and he wonders if he has really
corrected himself. Stephen then faces many problems, from home to school, where he begins to
question faith and religion once again. This is where the second epiphany comes in. After some
thought Stephen decides that he must pursue his ambitions and live his life freely without
inhibitions. Throughout Stephen s early life the idea of art is almost lost for him. Stephen
always has the idea of art in his mind and can be considered his one true love. The ambition of art
did not always influence his thinking and ideals until later in his teenage years. The challenges
and mental boundaries he experiences can contribute to the artist he wants to become, therefore
making him very open minded artist with traditional Irish roots. Stephen was a confused boy who
was on his own personal pursuit of happiness. Stephen was fortunate enough to realize that the
choices he made before adulthood would effect the rest of his life. With that in mind, Stephen s
coming of age causes him to lose some things, while at the same time gaining others. The main
part of Stephens coming of age was his transformation between one of religious conformity and
one free of inhibitions as an artist. I mean, said Stephen, that I was not myself as I am now, as I

1990 s Take Off And Beyond Essay
The 1990 s Take Off and Beyond
The early 1990s is when the modern day began. In 1992, and Oxford University computer scientists

with an internet connection can access. Not just government research centers and scientists with
access to top of the of the line equipment. As the 1990 s continued, the Internet continued to
globalize. In 1992, Erwise was the first successful Internet browser due to the graphical user
interface software it supplied. Erwise paved the way for Mosaic and eventually Netscape which
accounted for 90 percent of all internet browsing activity. As the Internet started to grow faster,
companies such America Online and Compuserve offered Internet through a dial up network
connection. This allowed anyone with a home phone line access to the Internet. The Internet was
now expanding into residential homes and was expanding globally. In 1994, the use of the internet

On The Grey Tree Mondrian
Mondrian was born in 1872, and died in 1944. Throughout his career, he made sure to create
many geometric artworks. He came from a neat, Calvinist country where the severe landscape of
interlocking canals and ruler straight roads often looked mechanically laid out (145). He was a
painter and used oil on canvas to create his artworks. In 1892, he had a degree in education and
could Teach drawing in secondary schools (Early life and works).
This painting was created in 1912, and was called The Grey Tree. If he was alive right now, and
had the same technology that is common in 2016, I don t think he would have changed how he
made his artwork. He may have had a different way to get to the end product, but in the end it
would probably look the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Mondrian was alive today, this painting may be a little different. This is because it looks
nothing like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more
of an ocean feel to the painting. The painting was painted with oil paints on a canvas.
This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting,
he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created
geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even
though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found
a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like.
This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory
Boogie Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible
to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it
looked like today. Unless there was something else that gave him the inspiration, because then it
could look like something totally different. However, it depends on how he got the inspiration, or if
there was some reason he thought of this exact

Argumentative Essay On Teen Abortion
Briana Nelson
Hannah Homes
Eng.1101
10 December 2017
Teen Abortions aren t Always a Bad Thing
Imagine it is late at night, and you are walking home from a friend s house. It s very dark and
you can t really see what s going on until all of a sudden, this random man grabs you and throws
you into the back of his car. That same night this man rapes and sexually abuses you. Later on, you
find out that you are pregnant by this man and you don t want to keep it, but everyone around you
is telling you that you shouldn t get an abortion because you would then be labeled as killing your
child. Now you are stuck debating whether or not you want to give birth to a baby that wouldn t
be here if you weren t raped that night you were walking home from your friend s house. One of
the biggest dilemmas in today s time is whether or not teen abortions should be legal. Every year,
more than 50% of babies that are conceived, come into the world unwanted (Guttmacher). Whether
it is from the mother being raped, abused, not wanting their parents to find out, not wanting
everyone to know that they had sex, or even just the thought of the fact that she is a child raising a
child. Therefore, all teens should be allowed to have an abortion for many different reasons without
being told they are murdering their child.
Abortions became a political debate after the court case of Roe v Wade legalized abortions in 1973.
In the 1973 case of Roe v. Wade, the U.S Supreme court ruled that the woman has

America s Postwar Role
During the war, many visions of America s postwar role began to emerge. One of the key roles
that began to emerge was the idea of equality for all. Americans established that Americanism
rested on toleration of diversity and equality for all, while the enemy s philosophy was racism.
So, by the end of the war the new immigrant groups had been fully accepted as loyal ethnic
Americans, rather than distinct and inferior races. Another idea of America s postwar role, was
brought to light in 1944 when the president called for an Economic Bill of Rights. Franklin D.
Roosevelt proposed to expand the government s power in order to secure full employment, an
adequate income, medical care, and a decent home for all Americans. Already ill and preoccupied

  • 2. Piaget s Psychological Analysis The theorist Erik Erikson once said: There is in every child at every stage a new miracle of vigorous unfolding, which constitutes a new hope and a new responsibility for all. Human development follows a sequence of achievements; yet, the exact age and time when it will transpire is unpredictable. In contrast to what Piaget believed, today s psychologist promote the thought that children master certain goals at various ages, rather than following an exact blueprint. To support this belief, one needs to deeply analyze Piaget s four cognitive stages of development. Thus, scrutinizing in debt each individual phase will result in accurate conclusions. Observing children in their natural habitat, taking note of their behaviors and reactions to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Piaget has predicted, the children all agreed that they now have more liquid in their glasses since their cup is taller. To further support this theory, I administered my own experiment. I had the children look at a chair across a room and say if it is possible for them to touch it from their current position. They all agreed that it is impossible. Thereafter, I told them to focus on the object through a pair of binoculars and see if they can reach it now. Instantly, the children, with outstretched arms, exclaimed that of course they can since now it is within their distance. This experiment further supports Piaget s study. Although Jean Piaget proved his four stages and experimented in debt to reach a conclusion, observationists nowadays often contradict his facts and prove some errors. Hence, the sequence of the developments are usually accurate, the age base that Piaget assigned them to is underestimated. Children far younger than the suggested ages grasp concepts that Piaget believed unattainable at those years. All things considered, psychologists and researchers, although often in disagreement with Piaget s theories, still base their studies and observations on his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Imagery In Lady Macbeth Lady Macbeth is written as a deceptive character through Shakespeare s use of detailed imagery throughout Scene V in Act I of Macbeth. The line Look like th innocent flower/But be the serpent under t refers to the Bible and how the snake represented temptation and evil, which is what Lady Macbeth is doing (and how she is acting) toward Macbethand trying to get him to toughen up and agree with her idea of assassinating the king (1.5.57 8). Shakespeare s imagery of the serpent paints the character of Lady Macbeth, and sets the tone of her first scene as defiant, showing the audience her true colors and intentions. Another use of imagery through Lady Macbeth is at the beginning of the scene with the vivid image of yet do I fear thy nature/it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Columbian Exchange The Columbian Exchange The Columbian Exchange is non fiction book written by Alfred W. Crosby JR. It illustrates the important events that transpired when Columbus came to America in 1492. I initially chose this this book because I wanted to know more about Europe s effects on America, and how Columbus altered the flora and fauna of America for better and for worse. As I started to read further into the book I immediately was captivated by all the information that was hidden within the text. The book started out by contrasting the Columbian Exchangeto the early human migrationsand early land bridges. I believe this is especially important because, it gave e a better understanding of how early humans developed a pattern and a need to explore new lands. This quote states, The connection between the Old and New Worlds, which for more than ten millennia had been no more than a tenuous thing of Viking voyages, drifting fishermen, and shadowy contacts via Polynesia, became on the twelfth day of October 1492 a bond as significant as the Bering land bridgehad once been (Crosby 3). This is a particularly important sentence in the book because it gave me a tie between mankind s migrations throughout the earth. The Bering land bridge was used as a rout for human migrations from Asia to the Americas about 20,000 years ago. Knowing this gave me a sense of what the book was about. When Columbus came to America one of the big effects that occurred was disease. As Crosby explains, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Descriptive Essay On The Fourth Of July Fourth of July. It is pitch black and everyone is waiting for the sky s performance. The patriotic American song starts in the background and I look around to see where the fireworks will start streaming. My eyes fixate on the dazzling sparks of colors and heart hammering noises, but the moment that I break eye contact with the sky, I look down upon the crowd. There is a light performance going on the ground level. A mob of phones pointed into the sky orchestrated the performance; their lenses were a curtain to the actually performance taking place in the sky. Realistically, these pictures will never see the light of day again. How often does someone go back and diligently strip search their photo album to find that radiant pink firework that ... • 7. The Importance Of Infrastructure Security By Analyzing One... Introduction During the last decade, information technology has become an increasingly pervasive issue present in each of the corporate structures (Exhibit 1). Even more recently, the idea of utilizing a cloud based infrastructure has become an idea that is more and more adopted by the business in an intent to facilitate data processing and availability. Nevertheless, with cloud computing comes several confidentiality issues that worry its users, especially those users who utilize the platform to transit huge amounts of delicate information. These issues have led companies to establish IT departments that are able and equipped to handle the data challenges such as data theft, among others, that arise with the information being on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The breach was carried through what is referred to as a memory scraping software, which once installed in a computer, is able to store sensitive information such as: names and credit card numbers. Although, it is unknown how these hackers were able to install this software into target s point of sale systems, experts affirm that it could have been installed by anyone who had access to the company s POS system. What is scary is that this malicious software could have been downloaded by a target employee after innocently clicking on a link from an anonymous email or downloading a free disguised software program from the internet. The software could have also been installed by the thieves themselves through a physical security breach into any of Target s thousands of stores nationwide or even in its headquarters. To make matters even worse, the breach could have also intentionally come from someone within the IT department in the organization. Whichever the case may be, I guess we will never know. What is important to recognize though, was this giant s response to deter the breach and its actions in restoring and improving the organization s IT structure. Target s Response After the data breach that the company experienced, Target knew that something must change in order to improve their security in the system and improve customer credibility. For this reason, Target, amongst many other things, decided to launch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Narrative Essay-Near Death Experience Dante HarrisHarris 1 Professor Yates English 103 3 October 2012 Beautiful Summer Days To A Cold Sad End It s occasionally said that human beings are the only creatures who are aware of their own death, but is this actually true? The term death is often used lightly and has been made into something of an unimportant subject. Fact of the matter is that many of us don t want to think about death, we live in a death denying culture. Few individuals truly grasp the concept of death and how it can distort the lives of the people it comes in contact with. I was among the naГЇve until right before my senior year of High School. The next day after having the best day of my life began the longest and most terrifying day of my life. I awoke the next day to my younger brother telling me my mom wanted me. I didn t question why my mom wanted me, I just began grabbing some clothes to throw on and race up the stairs. I slowly approach the stairs to my parents bedroom where I begin to ponder why she wanted me. I turn the corner to see my mom doing her hair. She looked at me through the mirror and she said So Dante here s a funny story your dad just told me... I began to question why she wanted to tell me about a story my dad told her but I continue to listen. She continues by saying He drove to Tim Horton s for breakfast today! then it hit me I was busted!! She finished the story and then asked why Dante would you do that and she began tell me all this stuff, but for some reason I couldn t hear it. All I could hear was my thoughts of how I messed up big time, how I was going to lose my job, how I disappointed my parents, and most importantly how I screwed up my life. • 9. Invisible Child In The Shadows Dasani s Homeless Life Within the confines of this text I will be exploring the New York Times article invisible child in the shadows Dasani s homeless life. Dasani s life will be examined through the lenses of five different theories. The five theories will be, Health and wealth connection theory, cognitive theory, psychoanalytic theory, attachment theory, and relational theory. To be summed up in the end with the conclusion. The Health and wealth connection distilled is our health will most commonly reflect from our amount of wealth. The wealthy can afford the cost of quality care and the time to take care of them selves. Within the textbook, Dimensions of Human Behavior Hutchison writes. Public health experts have long noted the association of poor health outcomes, in all body systems, with low income, low education, unsanitary housing, in adequate healthcare, on stable employment, and unsafe physical environment (Hutchison, 2015). Easily demonstrated throughout American society the rather dubious and is somewhat perplexing phenomenon of the Health and Wealth connection theory. The gap between the haves and have nots are ever expanding. Those who have the funding to pay for resources will pay to get those resources. And those who do not have adequate funding to pay for said resources will unfortunately have to stand in the long lines to receive seemingly, deceptively, scarce resources. Looking at Dasani through the ever changing and expanding theory of the Health and Wealth connection. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Gladiator Essay Opening Battle Address to the Roman Cavalry If you have watched the movie Gladiator, you have probably heard the famous speech delivered by Maximus Decimus before the start of the opening battle. General Maximus Decimus Meridius is Emperor Marcus Aurelius most trusted general of the Roman Empire. As introduced in the beginning of the speech, Maximus isn t just a general, but a farmer too. That shows pathos because even though he has a more prominent title, Maximus is still just like all of the other soldiers in the army. The speech is given in 180 A.D., where a battle is about to be fought between the Germanic barbarians and the Roman Cavalry. The start of war between these two armies dates far back in time. They have been fighting forever... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He says, Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. He s trying to tell the soldiers that if they imagine themselves making it through the battle, then they will. He does this himself by saying, Three weeks from now I will be harvesting my crops. Maximus wants his soldiers to visualize where they want to be after they win the battle. The General shows a close relationship with the soldiers by calling them his brothers. This shows ethos because he is describing them as a close family instead of just fellow soldiers in battle. Maximus also tries to relax the soldiers before going in battle by saying, If you find yourself alone riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled, for you are in Elysium and you re already dead. He s trying to make a point by saying that the worst thing that can happen, is that they die and they won t have to fight anymore. Yet if they die, they will be remembered for the great deed that they have done. The last line, and the most important one in the speech is: What we do in Life echoes in Eternity. This line metaphorically demonstrates how people are remembered after death. Even after death, people will be remembered by their actions in life. By saying this, he is encouraging them to fight so they will be remembered as heroes instead of cowards that were too afraid to even try. So even if a soldier dies in war, they will be glorified by their sacrifice on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just think of it in smaller terms, in a family environment. Mother and Father establish rules by which children have to abide. For example, when parents tell their children that they cannot scream and yell at each other they are establishing with their children some (very important) protocol. It regulates the behavior of the children and as much is a huge factor in why positive protocol is so important. The conduct between people in a society is better because of it. Since the children from the above example establish guidelines not to scream and yell at each other, they in turn become more effective communicators. This positions the children to contribute on a greater level later in life. On a larger scale it sets the stage for an environment where that behavior is something that is not desirable, therefore creating a new norm. • 18. Silence In Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston And The Mother Language is not always sufficient for telling stories, especially difficult narratives. The most difficult stories are those that force characters into situations with no desirable outcomes. The short story Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston and the poem the mother by Gwendolyn Brooks deal with vastly different topics, but share the difficulty of narrating women s stories. Hurston and Brooks also share similar views on the use of silence in writing, its use and effect. These texts define silencing broadly, such as not expressing an opinion about an action, denying a character a voice, or even the absence of new language. While Sweat and the mother agree that silencing usually amplifies women s stories better than language, Hurston takes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The syntax of the punctuation also creates pauses. Pausing forces reflection: each space of not speaking allows for the processing of the emotions Brooks presents. By pausing and thinking, the emotions can become personal rather than the emotions of the speaker. Silence through repetition thus allows traumatic stories and the related emotions to present themselves in full via reflection. Similarly, Sweat repeats the final words of the story to allow a better grasp on Delia s experiences, and mainly achieves this through the investigation of what the text does not say. After Delia sees Sykes s swollen eye and neck, she leaves the house. She sits outside in the heat while inside she knew the cold river was creeping up and up to extinguish that eye which must know by now that she knew (9). The repetition of knowledge pervades. Like in the mother, pauses occur here, too, but for a different reason. The phrases he knew, she knew, and [the eye] knows cause pauses to think about what each person knows. Through this reflection, knew obtains a new meaning each time, because Hurston forces the acknowledgement of each character s personal story. Without thinking and seeking out the experiences of the characters, there cannot be any understanding of the knowledge. The Fathers Of The Family The fathers of the family were constantly out working in the fields, and the mother of the family would either be cleaning, taking care of infants, or cooking for her family. So, from the time children are able to walk, they have to discover ways to pass the time. Just like today, some activities were restricted due to the weather outside. For example, during the winter season pigs were being slaughtered. Children would go to the slaughterhouse and pick up the pigs bladders and blow them up like balloons. Also during the wintertime, it would snow. Just like children today, kids would go out in the streets and participate in snowball fights. When it was summery outside children would go to ponds or streams and have water fights with their friends or siblings, because during this time water fights were a popular form of recreation. Other forms of recreation were: fighting battles with wooden swords, competing in little play tournaments, and playing hide and seek. • 20. Essay On The Movie Coraline In terms of plot, the movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman s Coraline is extremely true to the source material. It still tells the story of a young girl who grows unappreciative of her real family and finds a magical door in her new home that leads to a better, fantastical version of the family she has now. The creepiness and scary moments are also true to form, with this world being only a copy of the real world, created by the Other Mother in an attempt to trap Coralineforever. The quest to rescue the three ghost children is almost exactly the same, with two of their souls being found in Miss Spink and Forcible s theater and Mr. B s circus. But since the movie added a scene in which an enticing garden is used as an item to gain Coraline s trust in the Other Mother s fake world, one of the ghost souls was placed in this location instead. Another major difference between the book and the movie is the addition of the character Wybie. He acts as a source of inside knowledge about The Pink Palace and helps kill the Other Mother s hand at the climax of the movie, while in the book Coraline gathered her information about her home from her parents as well as Miss Spink and Forcible, and killed the Other Mother s hand by tricking it rather than crushing it. Conventional wisdom holds that smaller classes lead to better educational outcomes after all, fewer students imply greater one on one instructional time, and disciplining overcrowded classrooms is arguably more difficult. Still, hiring more teachers is far from cheap, so policymakers have a vested interest in determining the effectiveness of smaller classes. Historically, isolating the causal effect of class sizes on educational outcomes has proven challenging. With factors from socioeconomic standing to innate IQ affecting student learning, teasing out the effect of class sizes is rather challenging. Although economists have executed randomized experiments in states like Tennessee (Finn and Achilles 1990), such experiments are limited in size. Yet a paper by Joseph Angrist and Victor Lavy suggests an alternative (and more importantly, feasible) way of quantifying this effect. Ancient Religion and Modern Policy Indeed, as Angrist and Lavy note, an eight hundred year old religious decree offers an unusually effective way to separate the influence of reduced class sizes from that of factors like parental involvement and remedial education programs. This decree, named Maimonides Rule after the twelfth century Rabbinic scholar, requires two teachers [to] be appointed [...] if there are more than forty [students in a class]. In other words, if a local Israeli ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Girls dressed in bright neon clothes that had shoulder pads and leg warmers, with hair teased so high it didn t look natural, and wearing bright blue or pink eyeshadow? Or maybe boys in all denim, pinned to look tight jeans with an oversized denim jacket? It was a time for fashion and music to thrive. It was completely normal to be all about me in the 80 s. Raymond Carvers Cathedral was written in 1983, and the narrator is very self absorbed and insular. This coincides with the ambience of the time period, reflecting the majority of society. The narrator s wife has an old friend, who happens to be blind. His wife has just died, so he is going to stay with the narrator and his wife for a bit. The narrator is very passive aggressive towards him and even pulls childish pranks on him. Eventually the two are left alone and the narrator realizes how narrow minded he has been his entire life. In Carver s Cathedral, the narrator s lack of social depth and tolerance for others mimics that of the societal norm, which reverses when his wife s blind friend, Robert, strains the narrator s mentality. The narrator is a characterized representation of society, and how society can change when immersed in deviant lifestyles. • 50. Elizabeth Woodville And Anne Boleyn Women throughout history rarely receive attention for more than superficial causes: their influence on style, manners, or less. However, many women found themselves contributing to the formation of postmodern constructs of marriage for love, partnership, and fidelity. Foremost among these, temporally and popularly, are the examples of Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Boleyn . Undoubtedly, these cases hold great significance to cultural studies of the temporal periods in which the English identify as participants, but they also aid in seeing the eventual popular degradation of women from chaste matrons and aloof maidens to lusty bawds and traitorous whores. By this degradation and extensive primary sources, scholars can easily find these women as examples of the use of one s image for power in redefining concepts of queenship, and also women who set the standard to view the gradual combination of partner and lover in understanding social history. Aristocratic women in the Court system as a whole find relatively little attention by the most popular works on its culture. David Starkey , Alison Weir , and David Gunn , even though they offer insights on topic largely relegated to popular histories and romances; women, in fact, receive little merit for their Courtly careers. He came from a neat, Calvinist country where the severe landscape of interlocking canals and ruler straight roads often looked mechanically laid out (145). He was a painter and used oil on canvas to create his artworks. In 1892, he had a degree in education and could Teach drawing in secondary schools (Early life and works). This painting was created in 1912, and was called The Grey Tree. If he was alive right now, and had the same technology that is common in 2016, I don t think he would have changed how he made his artwork. If Mondrian was alive today, this painting may be a little different. This is because it looks nothing like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more of an ocean feel to the painting. The painting was painted with oil paints on a canvas. This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting, he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like. This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory Boogie Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it looked like today. Unless there was something else that gave him the inspiration, because then it could look like something totally different. Argumentative Essay On Teen Abortion Briana Nelson Hannah Homes Eng.1101 10 December 2017 Teen Abortions aren t Always a Bad Thing Imagine it is late at night, and you are walking home from a friend s house. It s very dark and you can t really see what s going on until all of a sudden, this random man grabs you and throws you into the back of his car. That same night this man rapes and sexually abuses you. Later on, you find out that you are pregnant by this man and you don t want to keep it, but everyone around you is telling you that you shouldn t get an abortion because you would then be labeled as killing your child. Now you are stuck debating whether or not you want to give birth to a baby that wouldn t be here if you weren t raped that night you were walking home from your friend s house. Therefore, all teens should be allowed to have an abortion for many different reasons without being told they are murdering their child. Americans established that Americanism rested on toleration of diversity and equality for all, while the enemy s philosophy was racism. So, by the end of the war the new immigrant groups had been fully accepted as loyal ethnic Americans, rather than distinct and inferior races. Another idea of America s postwar role, was brought to light in 1944 when the president called for an Economic Bill of Rights. Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed to expand the government s power in order to secure full employment, an adequate income, medical care, and a decent home for all Americans. Already ill and preoccupied ...
