How To Write A Compare And Contrast
Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of composing a compare and contrast essay is a task that
demands a thoughtful approach and a keen understanding of the subject matter. It involves
delving into the nuances of both the compare and contrast elements, elucidating the
methodology, and presenting a coherent and compelling analysis.
One of the challenges lies in striking the right balance between highlighting the similarities and
differences, ensuring that each point is meticulously examined without favoring one side over
the other. The writer must navigate through a sea of information, selecting the most relevant
aspects to include, and weaving them together seamlessly to create a cohesive narrative.
Additionally, the challenge extends to the structuring of the essay itself. Choosing an
appropriate framework, whether it be a point-by-point comparison or a block arrangement,
requires careful consideration. This decision can significantly impact the flow and clarity of the
essay, making it a critical aspect that requires thoughtful deliberation.
Furthermore, the task involves honing analytical skills to identify meaningful connections and
distinctions. This not only requires a deep understanding of the subject matter but also demands
the ability to synthesize information in a manner that engages the reader and enhances their
comprehension.
The process is not only intellectually demanding but also time-consuming. Researching,
organizing thoughts, and refining the essay to meet the standards of clarity and coherence are
iterative steps that demand dedication and attention to detail. As with any writing task, the
challenge is not only to convey information but to do so in a way that captivates and educates
the reader.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the intricacies of crafting a compare and contrast essay is no
small feat. It requires a fusion of analytical prowess, organizational skills, and a nuanced
understanding of the topic at hand. Success in this endeavor hinges on the writer's ability to
navigate the complexities of comparison and contrast while maintaining a captivating and
insightful narrative.
If you find yourself grappling with such tasks or require assistance with similar essays, a wealth
of resources is available. Professional writing services, likeHelpWriting.net, offer a platform

Block Nested Loop Join
1. Abstract:
The project deals with the Block Nested loop Join operation on given relations. In the
project, we used Adventure Works databaseto demonstrate the results. We observed
the execution of the block nested loop Join. The project also takes into account the
technical details of each relations, for example, what is the tuple size of the
relation, what are the total number of blocks allocated for each relation, what are
the number of tuples per block and so on. The algorithm for the Join are detailed
and explored. Also for the algorithm, the best, the worst case is being elaborated.
Further, even the available memory size, allocated memory size, are taken into
account while retrieving the tuples from the relations. The number of Block
transfers, and number of I/O seeks required for each relation are calculated. Finally,
these time of each relation in the algorithm are compared to determine the role of
tuples in Block Nested loop join.
2. Implementation:
For the implementation purpose, Adventure Works is used as the database and Java
is used for Programming. Net Beans is used for Java programming and
What Is The Greatest Happiness Principle In John Stuart
Mill
The author, John Stuart Mill, claims that people neglect to pursue principles of
morality. The principle of utility, which was mentioned by Bentham Latterly as the
greatest happiness principle, is often used against the sophist or so called
philosophers. Mill argues how human beings don t question on society s beliefs and
their actions that have been based upon from the past generations or traditions. John
Stuart Millclaims that the science of our generation is based on concepts that were
followed through from the very first principles of science. The Scientific method
was developed in order to test ideas or beliefs, in order to achieve an answer to a
specific question. Through the use of the rhetorical devices Logos and analogy, Mills
Mineral Soft Inventory
In the months that we have had Mineral Soft, I have logged over way 100 hours
linking, tying and correcting the data that is in Mineral Soft. That s not including the
time it took me to create the spreadsheets required for the upload.
In the time, it took me to build out the spreadsheets plus the time it took for the
folks at Mineral Soft to upload our data, I could have created all the data that is in
Mineral Soft with the correct ties. It has taken more than 2.5 weeks to create all of
the tract allocations for the wells in OEP and OMR, so that we can see the revenue
associated with each acquisition. It was my understanding that things like this were
being done when I sent over the spreadsheets.
For every single entry in Mineral Soft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not to mention, the random wells that OEP or OMR doesn t even own. Wells like the
one below (Mandaree 4 15H) were peppered throughout both entities. And I couldn t
find them on the Asset Tracker. Nor in the county records could I find where we
bought the interest in that Section, Township and Range combination. Did you know
there is no function to mark a well as Sold? My current work around is adding z to
the first part of well name. As the wells usually sort by name, adding the z to the
beginning pushes the sold wells to end of the list.
As for the Acquisitions, the tracts had to be tied and add the location information
needed to be entered. If the Notes field was on the upload, the adding of the location
information would have been done at the time of upload, saving me many hours.
Instead of having to input the information in Notes field; actually, having some of the
legal description as fields in the Acquisition tab would be wonderful. At least, having
the County and State as a field in the Acquisition area would be helpful.
Deeds called for adding the files and the lands covered, in the Notes field, for each
and every deed associated with OMR and OEP. Again, having at least the County
State for where the deed is recorded would be a great help. As it stands, the full legal
description for every deed is being entered in the Notes field. Which is quite time
consuming.

Essay about Wal-Mart s Smart Inventory System
After extensive last minute digging, I finally found a manager who trusted me
enough to supply me with the name of the inventory system that is used.
Unfortunately for me this is all I could uncover from my employer, but it is a start.
Wal Mart uses the SMART system. Because of the way it is spelled I can only
assume that it is an acronym. I have been searching for over an hour on Google.com
and finally produced some meager results, but here they are.
Background
From the results produced, I am at the deduction that SMART is not an acronym
after all. SMART is basically a tracking system, it keeps track of all our inventory, the
on hand counts, and can automatically reorder product that is low or empty. As stated
last week, most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Training usually takes less than one day. (Inventory FAQ)
Weaknesses of SMART
In all actuality, these are mostly just minor annoyances. Firstly, the system s on hand
counts only update once every two hours. This may be because of the huge amounts
of data that need to be updated, but customers get angry when the on hand says 25
and one can t be found. My second complaint is that the system has no way of
recognizing theft. Again, this produces wrong on hand counts which sometimes
become negatives, and is an overall pain to figure out what is actually wrong. I guess
one could say my main complaint against the SMART system is human error. But
what program can completely remove it?
Possible Improvements
I think the best solution for this problem would be removal of human interaction,
but I realize that this is not possible. Therefore, my second proposition would be
not allowing just any Associate to operate the Telxon. I have been there a total of 4
months and I can change prices and inventory counts at my leisure. I m sure you can
imagine the havoc that could be wreaked if I weren t an honest Associate. I think
there should be at least some kind of intensive training. Most of my training was in
the same day and lasted under an hour. Instead of allowing anyone these options, just
a handful of Associates should be

Abstract In this paper, performance metric of orthogonal frequency division
multiplexing (OFDM) system is analyzed over a composite fading channel i.e.
generalized K fading channel. Here, OFDM system is considered which include
repetition code to enhance the wireless link performance with simplicity. Symbol
error rate (SER) performance is evaluated using binary phase shift keying (BPSK) and
16 qardature amplitude modulation (16 QAM) over generalized K fading channel.
This channel model considers Nakagami m distribution to define multipath and
gamma distribution to represent shadowing. Simulation results demonstrate that
improved system performance can be achieved using repetition code in severely
faded environment. A comparative study of coded and uncoded system is also given
in this paper. Consequently, SER performance is improved with the increase in shape
parameters.

Impact of Alcohol in Sports
The investigators of this study for this article are: Bosko Rowland, Falicity Allen, and
John Toumbourou. The aim of the these three authors study was to highlight the
factors and impacts that alcohol plays in Australian sports. Furthermore, the aim of
the authors study was to also explain to the audience the Good Sports program that
was designed to reduce the amount of harmful alcohol consumed in Australian
community sports clubs. The method of this study was indiscriminate but was based
off different clubs in Australia. Therefore, the authors used a method, in which they
conducted a postintervention adoption study to determine whether or not the
community sports club, partnered through the Good Sports Program was associated
with low rates of alcohol consumption. About 4.5 million Australians are involved in
community sports clubs. Which brings upon the fact that Behavioral ecology argues
that the environment influences alcohol related behaviors in sports clubs. The
authors of this article used the Good Sports Program database and organized
information from Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia. There were only two
sports used for this study, the Australian Football League, and the Cricket club were
invited because of their contribution to the program. Within the AFL, there are a total
of Forty Seven clubs. Among the Cricket club, there are a total of eighteen clubs.
There were thirty surveys given to each sport with random instructions on how to
return the surveys.

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United

of women fought courageously for equality for decades. The ratification of the
Nineteenth amendment was vindication for so many women across the country.
After having spent so many years oppressed and unable to make way for
themselves, women everywhere were growing tired of being unable to own
property, keep their wages and the independence that an academic education gave
them. The decades that ensued brought with them various female activists, men
that supported them and a division of its own within the movement. By the early
1800 s, sisters Angelina and Sarah Grimke had already made a name for
themselves as anti slavery abolitionist. The sisters, who later joined the Quaker
faith were also authors. Several of their publications were for the supplication of
the rights of African Americans. They later moved their ambitions to women s
rights. All I ask of our brethren is that they will take their feet from off our necks

considered by society in that time to be un lady like. Although mostly political
advocates, in those days their speaking on behalf of those exploited by society was
enough to warrant a bad standing in the community. I believe these

A Lesson Before Dying Analysis
A Lesson Before Dying is a deceptively simple novel that explores numerous
complex themes. Which also explores a prison experience. Set in the fictional
community of Bayonne, Louisiana, in the late 1940s, A Lesson Before Dying tells
the story of Jefferson, a twenty one year old uneducated black field worker
wrongfully accused and convicted of the robbery and murder of a white man, and
sentenced to death by electrocution.
Gaines uses harsh language to reflect the spiritual and personal alienation of humans
in the twentieth century. In a sense, this book is more about the injustice in the
world thanks to racism than actually presenting a treatise on how to live life. Yet
arguably, we can infer such lessons from the way in which the novel presents us
with a world where obvious injustice and inhumanity exists. Clearly, the conviction
and execution of Jefferson is a prime example of this injustice deriving from racism.
The way that he innocently accepts a ride from two men and then is implicated in a
violent struggle, in spite of his lack of understanding of what is really happening, is
enough to give him the death sentence.
Ernest J. Gaines who was born in Oscar Louisiana who is a writer whose fiction, as
exemplified by The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman (1971), his most acclaimed
work, reflects African Americanexperience and the oral tradition of his rural
Louisiana childhood. The three primary characters I chose would be Tante Lou, Miss

Batman Research Paper
Iron Man and Batman are examples of heroes who do not possess super powers. Even
though they do not have super powers, both heroic characters use their wealth in
order to build high tech technologies and weapons. Iron man and Batman share the
same mission to protect innocent citizens from harm and prevent injustice. Iron Man
and Batmanhave similarities and they differ in terms of their background, ability to
fight crimes, and how their image is portrayed.
Batman s alter ego is Bruce Wayne, a wealthy business man who inherited his
family s company, Wayne enterprise, from his deceased parents. Bruce Wayne was
motivated by guilt and hatred after witnessing his parents death at a young age; he
was helpless when he was a child, and as he grew up he mastered martial arts and
trained himself to be someone who is strong and capable to protect the weaker
individuals.; On the contrary Iron man s alter ego is Tony Stark, owner of Stark
enterprise. Tony Stark is a billionaire playboy who became Iron Man after being
captured and held a prisoner by a terrorist group while he was introducing his latest
weapon on a Army base in Afghanistan. He was severely injured and nearly died.

Coca Cola s Organizational Performance And Interaction...
Through this term, our team has researched and analyzed the Coca Cola as to its
organizational performance and interaction based on group behavior. We will now
conclude our research. Our results were based on the Action Model of
organizational and group conditions and determined if the given model is effective
in preventing roadblocks to achieve success. We will also offer recommendations of
our overall analysis in order to determine if improvement is needed and how to
implement change when presented to us. In order to enact this model and to make it
effective there are certain factors that need to be considered. Groups need to exert
enough joint effort in order to accomplish tasks at acceptable levels of performance.
Every member of the group has to offer the adequate skills and knowledge regarding
the subject at hand. Also, consideration to cultural and organizational setting have to
be taken into consideration (Harrison, 2005). Action Model Group Behavior The
Coca Cola Co. is very involved with group level behavior. They not only involve
immediate persons within the physical organization, but stakeholders worldwide. The
company engages with their numerous partner bunches in an assortment of formal
and casual settings over the whole Coca Cola framework. Their engagements range
from gatherings with nearby, provincial, and national gatherings to continuous
exchanges with their bottlers, suppliers, and purchasers across the globe. By

The Welfare Program Must Be Expanded Without...
The United States does not spend too much on the food stamp (SNAP program)
and no one deserves to go hungry. Every year during budget talks the welfare
program is a featured topic as the government explores ways to cut the budget. There
appears to be a lot of unnecessary spending due to abuse of the system and program
administration complexity. There are many areas in which reforms could be
instituted and the program could be expanded without misappropriation of funds.
There should be greater oversight on the program s overall administration. Those
charged with determining eligibility and administering the program need to receive
more training and education on the more obscure program regulations. A personal
example of the systems shortcomings on training and the regulations is with the
status of persons residing in more than one household rule. During the time of
eligibility, the applicant was newly married, but not living with spouse as he lived
out of state and was denied benefits. In Chapter 1 of the Alabama Department of
Human Resources Points of Eligibility the government lays out rules about the status
of a person residing in more than one household. When an individual resides in more
than one household for a portion of the same month, he/she can be included in only
one of the households. Generally the determining factor for which household the
above individual is to be included shall be the household in which the individual eats
a majority of meals. (Points of

However, as recently as the 1970s, some governments and firms saw international
marketing as an optional extra of minor importance. International business was
typically considered a field reserved for a few trading companies and specialists.
Other firms were content to focus on their domestic markets and disregarded
international dimensions.
Conditions have changed. Global trade has rapidly increased in both volume and
value, reaching nowadays more than $4 trillion in 1997 (Daniels J.D., Radebaugh,

At the same time, global opportunities have emerged that offer possibilities for

Today, firms have to deal with a global marketplace; marketers have no other choice.
Participation in global marketing has begun to shift from a mere option to an

Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico Essay
One World Essay: Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico
Scientific Reasoning:
The dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico is a human problem, like most other disasters.
What this means is that once the place thrived and was ecologically balanced, but we
tipped the balance slightly and wrecked havoc upon the environment. It has been
noted to occur since the 1950 s and is ongoing. The reason that this dead zone occurs
is because of a phenomenon known as eutrophication. Eutrophication is when there is
an excessive amount of nutrients in a body of water and it causes an abundance of
plants to grow. In this case the nearby farms had been using nitrogen in their
fertilizers. The nitrogen got carried into the ocean through rain and other forms of ...

Some species might thrive in conditions that other struggle to survive. For example
some predators might need more oxygen then a smaller prey. With less predators
being around, there is a huge burst in prey, which can eat up all of the bacteria.
When the bacteria all die, the prey can t find any food and all die out. This causes
a very unreliable food chain and can be dangerous to live in. In hypoxic zones what
tends to happen is that marine life such as fish or shrimp die out quickly while the
smaller organisms live. This causes whole species to die out leaving a dominance of
gelatinous creatures such as jellyfish to thrive in. Economic Problems:
There are many economical problems due to the dead zone ranging from fisheries
going out of business to illnesses. The economical problems have paid their toll on
nearby fishers whom in total have paid over 10 billion US dollars to repair the
problem. Sadly though, no matter how much they pay, the problem is still on
going. The gulf s massive fishing industry is trying to focus its efforts on the parts
that have been affected in an attempt to save their sea. According to many sources,
EPA views this problem as unimportant and hasn t helped yet. The reason that it is
so hard to come to an agreement is because there is no solution that pleases
everyone. Right now the farmers up north of the gulf are having an easy time
because of easy and cheap waste disposal while downstream the fishers are

at any online terminal, are known as cloud users, as the avenue for experiencing
these luxuries is cloud computing. This can be achieved by using free services
such as Drive offered by Google, or iCloud from Apple, or via OneDrive from
Microsoft. Much like a music library on a personal computer cloud computing
stores data, all the while making it accessible everywhere. Instead of having to be
at a physical machine to access the data, one can place this data into a cloud that
can be accessed anytime, online, when they feel like it. Even more so this is great
in everyday life scenarios. For instance, one can take photos from their iPhone on a

In essence, this technology came about when the culmination of Internet Service
Providers (ISP) developed the ability to host web services and create a virtualized
infrastructure (MSV, 2012, p. 5). A virtualized infrastructure better known as
virtualization is where multiple servers are consolidated (MSV, 2012, p. 5). For
instance, an organization can have individual servers for each of the following
roles like Web Servers, Database Servers and Messaging Servers (MSV, 2012, p.
4). Instead of having a plethora of servers to handle these many different roles each
server is virtualized to take on multiple roles here by the data center infrastructure
can be consolidated from hundreds of servers to just tens of servers (MSV, 2012,
p. 4). Initially this technology was implemented in data centers as a means for
organizations to lower a data centers total cost of ownership; therefore, saving
companies significant amounts of money on power bills, cooling equipment, and
hardware in general (MSV, 2012, p. 5). Although today s cloud technology is widely
developing into a product called Software as a Service (SaaS) (Srinivasan, 2013,
p.48). In example, services like iCloud, Google Drive, or OneDrive from Microsoft
are considered SaaS (Srinivasan, 2013, p.49). These examples offer a certain
amount of free storage space for users who employ their services and have an
account which is usually free as well. The primary concern

Almost immediately in her work she addresses Kelly Gadol s argument and its
effects on the conclusions even in the early 2000s. Generally, she argues, the field
of gender history agrees upon four tenets: the lack of a unified experience of early
modern; temporalities and locations honed distinct gender roles; the call for each
question posed for females to be answered for males rather than discussing the history
of man outside of genderand as men ; and, quoting Joan Scott, gender is a primary
way of signifying relationships of power . With these field wide conclusions

Public School Of Public Schools
INTRODUCTION
On April 14, 1829, the Louisville Mayor and Council established a public school
for children less than sixteen years of age on August 17, 1829 known as the
Louisville Public School. The first public school building was opened September
1830 in the Louisville School district. The Jefferson County Public Schools trace
their beginnings to an act of the legislature of Kentucky, which established a system
of common schools in the state in 1838. April 1, 1975 Louisville Public Schools and
Jefferson County Public Schools merge establishing Jefferson County Public Schools
District.
Jefferson County Public School System operates as a hierarchical system
administered by 7 elected members who are referred to as the board of education.
Their overall responsibility is to oversee the development, operation, and
improvement of JCPS as well as select and hire a superintendent, which is currently
Dr. Donna Hargens she is responsible for implementing the school board s vision by
making decisions about educational programs, spending, staff, and facilities. JCPS
has several internal organizations that provide support to students, staff, and
community that are overseen by chief officers. The vision of Jefferson County Public
School is to ensure that all JCPS students graduate prepared to reach their full
potential and contribute to our society throughout life. In order to make this

Romeo And Juliet Alternate Ending Essay
He was finally free and on his own. Lance walked up the rough cement steps,
carrying the last box of his things into his new apartment. He pushed into the already
propped open door and stepped into the open space of his new home. Hunk and
Shiro were already inside.
That the last one? Hunk asked, as Lance set down the heavy box at his feet.
Sure is, I m finally moved in!
We still need to unpack all this stuff, Lance, Shiro said, leaning on the clean off white
wall across from Lance.
No problem, fellas, I got this.

One day this kind of emo guy in his literature class overheard him asking a hot girl
after class if she wanted to be his Juliet. The guy told Lance he should actually read
the play before he said things like that because Juliet committed suicide in the end.
The black haired guy then walked past him leaving a used copy of The Tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet on his desk. I want it back after you re done, he had muttered.
Though Lance was a little upset that this mullet head had messed up his mojo, he
gave it a shot. He finished it in three days (though he could have finished it in one,
he was just a little busy that week), and felt disgusted with himself and cringed at
all the terrible pick up lines he had said. He thought it was messed up asking a girl
to be his Juliet. Though it kind of made sense since he had just met her and all.
Lance ended up really liking the play, though he couldn t understand why people
thought it was the most romantic thing ever. Probably because they never actually
read it, Lance thought. Like... he did... oh.
The next day after class he walked up to the edgy kid s desk and returned the
The Theme Of Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird
Inside the complexity of everyone s mind is woven with distinctive beliefs, attitudes
and thoughts. In the sense of morality, some decide to take leadership influencing
others, some follow the customs of society and some stand up for their own opinion.
But what does it really take for one to stand out from the crowd to deal with
controversial topics of society? Today I ll be discussing how the significance in
character development of Atticus Finchhas enabled the audience in our generation to
connect with themes of courage, racism and justice proposed in the Harper Lee s
novel To Kill a Mockingbird.
Are we all born with courage or did we have the potential to become courageous?
Does physical courage reflect the same on the inside? The idea of true courage
from Atticus s point of view is to make right decisions without personal prejudice
and then living by your values whether you win or lose. But honestly this is easy
said than done. Atticus maintains his courage throughout the novel with one of the
key events being his strong defence for Tom Robinson who was accused of rape.
He accepts the point at the beginning that he is going to lose the case so he puts all
his efforts not because Tom is an African American but truly because he is innocent.
I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a
man with a gun in his hand. It s when you know you ve licked before you begin, but
you begin anyway and see it no matter what. The implication

such as peaceful, equal influences, respect and concern for others, and self respect.
Confucius branches out to expand his meanings of the three practices, but the main
traditional concepts remain the same. Finicality involves placing great importance
on the care one has of their family members, and treating non family members as if
they were part of their family. Confucius found this practice extremely important in
civilization, and believed that if everyone were filial and friendly toward one s

Isolation And Of Mice And Men By James Joyce
Explore the ways in which the theme of isolation is presented in Dubliners and Of
Mice and Men.
Isolation a complete, or near complete lack of contact with people or society. People
can either ostracise you, deliberately shunning you out, which is mainly the type
which can be found in the books which we have studied, or it can be very accidental.
From The Dubliners, a collection of short stories, I have selected two that I feel can
be related to themes of isolation and withdrawal: First, The Dead, written by James
Joyce, set in Edwardian Dublin, and like Of Mice and Men, it contains strong
themes of isolation, primarily between the two main characters, Gretta and Gabriel
Conroy. Joyce presents Gabriel as being very out of control of the situation, and
although in close proximity to his wife, they are both in very different worlds; very
apart. In Eveline, she doesn t have any say on what she does with her life, often she
finds herself isolated from her family, and is limited by the moral contexts restricting
women at the time. The book Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, and set in
rural southern California during the depression, follows the hopes of both Lennie
Small and George Milton, towards their dream of owning a ranch together; a
unique aspiration in a book full of insecurity and isolation. Most of the characters
in this book are very isolated: by gender, for example there is only one woman, by
race, for example there is only one black character, or even
Romantic Comedy Analysis
Romantic Comedies. We all know of at least one. Chances are we all have one that
we could watch over and over again. But, why? What makes romantic comedies so
appealing? Why do so many people like them? The Incredible Jessica James is a
romantic comedy, that is also an adult s coming of age movie, but not your typical
one. A typical romcom plays love as an almost insignificantly light hearted joke.
While love is still joked about, it isn t quite as light hearted in The Incredible Jessica
James. When people think of a rom com we typically think of one like: Sleepless in
Seattle, You ve Got Mail, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, 10 Things I Hate About You
, or Pretty in Pink. The Incredible Jessica James doesn t match up to those movies in
a couple of ways. The Incredible Jessica James doesn t completely shy around the
politics of today s society, it starts off light but gradually becomes a little more
serious, shows the struggles of dating when two people start out not completely
over their exes, and is even relatable to some people whose parents have had a rough
divorced. Jessica Jones was made to be relatable more than the idealistic romantic
comedywhere they always end up together. Politics; it is everywhere so why
shouldn t we expect it in our movies? Jessica James is passionate about three things
in this movie: her opinions (politics), theater, and honesty. Her political views are
showcased in one particular scene: her sister s baby shower. Her gift while thoughtful

Use Of Diction In Bless Me Ultima
Throughout his journey, the protagonist Antonio faces many problematic realizations
about his religious path in life. The author, Rudolfo Anaya, in Bless me Ultima uses
diction with a pessimistic way of connotation to provide a suffocating tone to reveal
how religion traps a person from pursuing freedom. Anaya s suffocating tone is
pronounced when he describes Ash Wednesday through the use of dreary diction.
Anaya describes, Ash Wednesday as gray morning or in the dusty afternoon (Anaya,
201). This choice of words provide stigma of a dimness and suffocation. Anaya could
possibly have used this diction to communicate the tone of dullness and negativeness
that surrounds religion. This diction helped Anaya to unfold the tone that exhibits

I Believe This Class Has Educated Me For My Current

I believe this class has educated me for my current and future students. It was
abstract, yet outside the normal expectation of a classroom. Multi diverse in
strategies, thought processes, and these are toosl I can utilize to aid my students
comprehension and social development skills. Taking this class made me come out
of my shell more, not completely but having to toss out my thoughts and my
opinions without thinking about what others reactions would be was enlightening,
and exciting to the soul. Some topics for me were hard to converse on because
judgments still exist, in my opinion. A good example of this is why African
Americana can call Caucasians white people, yet we cannot call them black people
without offending them. I was not sure what the other classmates were going to
say and I hate confrontation so it is easier to remain quiet on the subject. One day I
hope to express my opinions without fear of judgment. Everyone in class started a
topic and discussed it in a respectful, honesty nice and caring way, even if they
agreed or disagreed on the topic of discussion, yet that fear of judgment was always
in the back of my mind. I participated everyday no matter what the issue was racism,
race, gender, class, culture, ethical dilemmas in today s society, education, and our
knowledge of life. All the things we may or may not believe in. These conversations
are methods and tools that I can use in my future conversations with superiors, peers
and students. Having
The Awakening by Edna Pontellier Essay
Whatever we may do or attempt, despite the embrace and transports of love, the

She pales in comparison as a mother when set next to the other Creole women on
Grand Isle. When the children of the other mothers need comfort, they run to their

rather than seeking comfort from their mother, they are more likely to instead get up

and finds no satisfaction in attempting to be one (567).
Edna s lack of belonging is not limited to inside her own house though. The largest
aspect of life in which Edna fails to find belonging is in the Creole society. Edna is
not Creole, but rather married into it. As she spends her summer immersed in this
society, Edna begins to realize just how little she fits into it. The Creole women s
every waking thought was of their children, so much so that in the middle of
summer, Mrs. Ratignolle is already sewing her children winter outfits. Edna, on the
other hand, seems to rarely ever think of her children. The Creole women were also
know to be very flirtatious, but in a way that was harmless and lacked meaning.
Edna, being an outsider from Kentucky, did not understand the openness in which
they expressed themselves. Some of the Creole women would talk in great detail of
intimate events such as child birth, tell stories, and read books that all made Edna
blush. Edna, being a solitary person, never really seemed to fit among the communal

Advantages Of Helical Spring
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1.1 Helical Spring
Helical spring is defined as an elastic body, whose function is to distort when loaded
and to recover its original shape when the load is removed. The helical springs are
made up of a wire coiled in the form of a helix and are primarily intended for
compressive or tensile loads. The cross section of the wire from which the spring is
made may be circular, square or rectangular. Helical compression springs have
applications to resist applied compression forces or in the push mode, store energy
to provide the push . Different forms of compression springs are produced. The
helical springs are said to be closely coiled when the spring wire is coiled so close

Dispersion of Different Silane Modified TiO2 Rutile...
Figure 3 shows dispersion of untreated, APS, FHES and TMSO treated TRNPs in
different solvents after centrifuging at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes. After centrifuging,
if most of the particle settles down it is an indicator of poor dispersion of the
particle in the solvent. When the relatively large particles settles down and small
particles remains in the suspension it is an indicator of medium dispersion. If all the
particles remains in the solventand no precipitation is found it is an indicator of
very good dispersion. From Figure 3 it is found that, untreated TiO2 is best
dispersed in DMF and DMAc polar aprotic solvent which is also supported from
small Z average diameter and acceptable PDI value. For untreated NP medium
dispersion is found in DI water and ethanoland poor dispersion in TCB, Toluene,
DCM, choloroform, THF and isopropanol. As the untreated TRNP is hydrophilic in
nature the particles tends to disperse well in relatively polar solvent. APS treated

doesn t dissolve in DI water, DMF and DMAC etc. highly polar solvent. The best
solvent for APS modified titania is ethanol, isopropanol and formic acidwhich is
conspicuous both from digital image and small mean diameter value of the
nanoparticle. Due to the presence of NH2 functional group at the end of organic
surface of APS treated TRNPs the hydrogen bonding force is the dominant dispersion
force. As a result, APS treated NPs
Animal Testing And Stem Cell Research
Human beings have made significant advances in medical and scientific knowledge
over the last two centuries. Animal testing has played a significant role in these
developments, and it continues to assist people in the invention of new treatments.

advancement of medical sciences as well as the protection of humans from any harm
that might occur from using new drugs.
Animal testing has contributed to the discovery of new treatment options for humans.

Apology, By Brad Watson
The human experience is a fragile and funny thing. More generally, biological
beings want and feel a need to belong. Yet, humans, as developed and advanced as
they may seem, go out of their way to prevent themselves from doing just that. The
short story Apology , by Brad Watson conveys this message through a depressing
narrative. In it, is a letter, or set of letters written to his supposed ex wife whom one
can surmise has left him. This is a reaction to the main characters drunken actions
throughout their married life. In addition, Watson displays this sympathetic message
through metaphorical and anecdotal means, describing the town in which he has
escaped to, experiences in nature, and past memories of his wife and child. Through
these heartfelt writings, one can surmise that the main character wants to explore the
stubbornness of human naturethrough his own experiences. In doing so, using themes
of self loathing, nostalgia, alcoholism, depression and more.
The setting is one that may cause confusion to many, never being officially
introduced with a name. It can be imagined as the high southwestern plains. He
describes, Pronghorn, jackrabbit, horses, crows. Trains, clouds, the occasional car.
You rarely see people if you don t go downtown (Watson 85). The nameless
protagonist, one of few characters within the piece, is alone. With the mention of only
one comrade within the entire town, he finds himself by his lonesome the majority of
the time. This setting alone,

Given the above considerations, Margaret s osteoporotic femurs are vulnerable to
fracture because of (A) the loss of spongy bone in the epiphyses and (B) the thinning
of the bony collar in the diaphysis.
6. Describe the changes that a broken bone undergoes as it is healing. The bony
collar of long bones helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism
described in #4A above (i.e. hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition,
long bones also withstand compressive forces by virtue of the spongy ( cancellous )
bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony plates (called trabeculae )
found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the tough bony
collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in
old time railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the
entire bridge.
7. During her long recovery, Margaret is advised by her physician to begin weight
bearing as soon as she can. How does weight bearing influence the process you
described in question #6? (Be specific in your answer and describe what weight
bearing does to bone at the microscopic level.) The most popular hypothesis
regarding the effect of weight bearing on bone remodeling is called Wolff s law .
Wolff s law states that bone grows and remodels in response to the mechanical
stresses placed upon it (e.g. from muscle pull or gravitational

Common Estate Case Study
When closing an estate, most states that use a formal probate process, allow for an
informal closing for common estates. These states simplified the probate process for
estates that are straightforward; not complicated or contested. Fortunately,
Massachusetts is one of those states. In Massachusetts, closing an estateusing the
simplified probateprocess involves the following tasks:
1)Complete a final inventory of assets.
2)Using the inventory of assets in the final accounting, complete the final accounting.
3)Under cover of an assent form, send copies of the inventory of assets and the final
accounting to each beneficiary.

sign the form called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3)Schedule C Schedule C is the remaining balance of the estate. In common estates,
the balance should be zero. Simply put, the total in Schedule A must equal the total in
Schedule B to produce a zero balance in Schedule C. Furthermore, filling in these
schedules with the appropriate values is a collaborative effort. At times, throughout
an estate administration, there are legal matters that the attorney must handle. If
these matters produce income or expenses for the estate, the attorney should enter
those values on the appropriate schedule. So, if the account doesn t balance in the
initial attempts, the attorney will most likely step in to help find any discrepancies if
needed.
Once the final accounting balances, then the attorney will continue with the rest of
the closing process mentioned above. At this point, the only remaining task for the
executor is to distribute the rest of the property in the estate after signing the account
form.
.
The Informal Closing of an Estate
Although an estate may close informally, it doesn t mean that a probate court won t
request information at a later date. Therefore, the executor should hold on to the
original documents related to the informal closing. In addition, the executor should
retain supporting documents related to entries in the final accounting such as
receipts, bank statements, and brokerage statements. Basically, all an executor needs
to do is store all the documentation used to produce the
Importance Of The LGBT Community
Why the LGBT community should be treated equally The LGBT community has
been around for centuries, although there was never an official name for the
community before the 1980s, outside of slurs, people have always identified outside
of the norm. From about 1988, activists began to use the initialism LGBTin the
United States. Despite the fact that LGBT does not nominally encompass all
individuals in smaller communities (pansexual, nonbinary, agender, etc.) the term
is generally accepted to include those not specifically identified in the four letter
initialism (Shankle). According to LGBT, the first documented gay rights
organization was founded by Henry Gerber. Gerber founded the The Society for
Human Rights in Chicago, Illinois in 1924. The fight for LGBT rights has been a
long and hard road and it will never end as long as the community is seen as
inferior by straight and cisgendered people. Marriage equality was a huge step in
progress for same sex couples but that doesn t mean queer people are still equally
respected in today s society. The three main discriminatory actions taken against
LGBT Americans have been violence, employment discrimination, and inaccessible
health care. Violence towards members of the community has always been a huge
issue. Lesbian, gay and transgenderpeople, especially those of color, experience
violence at disproportionately high rates compared to straight cisgender people.
According to the FBI, bias against sexual orientationand

George Gerbner, in 1976, founded the Cultural Indicators project, which estimated
that the average American child will have watched 8,000 murders on television by the
age of twelve. Gerbner is so alarmed about the baneful effects of TV that he describes
them in terms of fascism.
Gerbner s cultivation theory says that television has become the main source of
storytelling today. Those who watch four or more hours a day are labeled heavy
television viewers and those who view less than four hours per day, ... Show more

Although there may be potential benefits from viewing some television shows, such
as the promotion of positive aspects of social behavior (e.g., manners, friendship,
cooperation, altruism, etc.), many adverse health conditions can also result.
Respondents for this study were viewers and nonviewers from all regions of the
United States. 430 individuals respondents were recruited through the national media
to take an online survey. Because television free individuals comprise a very small
percentage of the general population, advertisements were made in national media
establishments likely to attract participants who do not watch television. These
establishments included a large nationally syndicated popular magazine and the web
site for the TV Turnoff Network. Survey respondents were divided into three groups:
(a) television free, (b) viewers who watch in accordance with AAP recommendations
and (c) frequent viewers (over two hours per day).
Hammermeister found that television free individuals show a stronger association
with enhanced psychosocial health profiles than members of the moderate viewing
group (i.e., the group following AAP guidelines) was not supported for men or
women. Watching television less than two hours per day provides the same relation
with psychosocial health as being television free in this sample. This is consistent
with cultivation studies examining behavioral effects of television viewing and
The Effects Of Climate Change On The North Atlantic
Region...
1.0 Introduction Climate change has progressively become more problematic for
coastal societies in recent history as a result of elevated greenhouse gas emission
levels across the planet. Increases in sea level and sea surface temperature, as well
as atmospheric pressure accretion, are unnatural effects directly linked to increased
carbon dioxide (CO2) release into the atmosphere. Some of the sources of these
increases have come from the greater use of coal and gasoline for industrial and
transportation purposes. Hurricanes (tropical cyclones), most common in the North
Atlantic region, have intensified due to this global warming . But occurrences of
such events are predicted to diminish (Emanuel, 2011). Hurricanes are expected to
form less frequently in the North Atlantic, but they will become more intense and
powerful over time. As high intensity hurricanes become more common events along
the densely populated eastern coast of the United States, more resilient engineering
solutions will need to be implemented by current generations to reduce their
destructive impact. 2.0 With or Without Rock Seawall vs. Hurricane Sandy On
October 29th of 2012, Hurricane Sandy stormed its way through the northeast region
of the United States, causing tremendous damage to coastal areas. The combination
of 80 90mph winds and waves in excess of 32ft high caused the destruction of
property in northern New Jersey. The level of damage varied even between
neighboring boroughs of

With 7,000 registered historic buildings standing as testimony to its rich architectural
heritage, Amsterdam is known as one of Europe s premier architecture and design
cities. Being one of the finest planned cities in northern Europe, it is a haven for
architectural connoisseurs. The city has also been recognized for its contribution in
the organic development of modern architecture.
The Canal Rings are one of the most prominent features of Amsterdam s architecture
and a UNESCO World Heritage Listed site. They are essentially a concentric ring of
canals built during the 17th century and have since been the icons of urban planning
and architecture. The concentric rings were extended outward to accommodate the

Windmills are an iconic part of the Dutch landscape, and a visit to one is a must for
visitors to the Netherlands. And with eight windmills located in and around
Amsterdam, windmill spotting is a great way to see the city.
De Otter is located in Amsterdam West and was built around 1631. It is the last
remaining windmill of its kind in the city, as the other sawmills were dismantled by
the early 1900s. As such, it is now considered a monument and is protected from
being torn down or moved. Not open for visitors.

Summary Of Life In Motion By Misty Copeland
Have you ever thought what it would be like to be dancing up on your toes with
the American Ballet theatre (ABT)? That s just what happened, Misty Copeland
currently a principal dancer at ABT had a dream to dance there ever since she
started to dance and she didn t think that she could do it,but with training, hard
work, and passion you can achieve anything. For the month of September I decided
to read Life in Motion written by Misty Copeland. This book was very inspiring in
many ways. I learned so much that I didn t know, not only about Misty Copeland but
also about ballet. I decided to read this book because, Misty Copeland is one of my
idols, she is also a big inspiration and I really wanted to learn more about her.
Overall this book was amazing. I would recommend it to not only ballet dancers
but to also people who love non fiction because it is full of so many details and a
lot of imagery that it makes a person feel like they are in her shoes dancing through
her life. I would recommend this book because many people can relate to Misty
Copeland in many ways, your mind wanders while reading, and because the plot was
very unbelievable and surprising.
Imagine reading a book about your idol and thinking wow I really feel like I am a
part of their life. That s just what happened, while I was reading Life in Motion, I
could actually feel and relate to what was happening to Misty Copeland. I would
recommend this book because many people can relate to her book even

Development of Character in Cormac McCarthy s All the Pretty Horses
In a journey across the vast untamed country of Mexico, Cormac McCarthy
introduces All the Pretty Horses, a bittersweet and profoundly moving tale of love,
hate, disappointments, joy, and redemption. John Grady sets out on horseback to
Mexico with his best friend Lacey Rawlins in search of the cowboy lifestyle. His
journey leaves John wiser but saddened, yet out of this heartbreak comes the
resilience of a man who has claimed his place in the world as a true cowboy. In his
journey John s character changes and develops throughout the novel to have more of
a personal relationship with the horses and Mother Nature. He changes from a young
boy who knows nothing of the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he doesn t see beyond the repercussions of owning a ranch, the dedication
and responsibility associated with running a ranch. Mr. Franklin teaches him to look
beyond the fact that owning a ranch is a not as simple as it might seem especially for
a six teen year old boy.
In his journey across the landscape of Mexico, John s character in the novel begins
to transform. He is beginning to move away from that boyish and naive kind of
behavior and more towards the middle stage of between being a boy and a man;
adolescence. McCarthy spends a great deal in describing John s adolescent s stage in
this novel. Much of the time that McCarthy describes in this stage is when they
are out on the prairie with the horses connecting with nature. This connection
allows John to have and a clearer understanding that there is a divine line between
men and horses and that you can t apply the same characteristics that you would
apply to a horse to a man. In one instance, after a long day of riding John and
Rawlins decide to stop for the night and rest. As he rests he lays on his back
looking, out where the quartermoon lay cocked over the heel of the mountain s the
vision of the moon gives the reader a sense of time and how it can be different from
time on the prairie compared to time in a society.. Time on the prairie seems to be
cocked or suspended in time, a sense that time
How Did The Us Build The Panama Canal
The Panama Canal is an important part of Panama and United States history. The
Panama Canal was constructed in order to make the journey from the Pacific Ocean
to the Atlantic Ocean shorter. This is extremely important because it shortens the
journey for cargo ships making them financially more efficient. The Panama Canal
was once owned by the United Statesbut is now owned by Panama. The Panama
Canal is a perfect example of countries working together for a common goal.
Although the canal was not built until 1914, the idea was proposed in the 1500s. The
idea came from Spain but the proposal was so absurd that nothing came from it. The
French also attempted a similar canal. Once again the plan was deemed too strenuous
and the French stopped construction. The United States decided that the idea of a
canal stretching from the Pacific to Atlantic oceans was an... Show more content on

The United States planned for the canal to stretch from the city of ColГіn to Panama
City. Soon after construction started problems occured. The lead engineer, John
Wallace, had problems with equipment and workers becoming ill. This caused
Wallace to quit and construction to momentarily halt. President Roosevelt hired
Lt. George Washington Goethals as the lead engineer in 1906. Goethals was a
strict commander, who also cared about his workers; he improved working
conditions while he was the lead engineer. One of the most difficult areas to build
the canal was the Culebra Cut. Landslides were notorious and many workers
perished. The next important structure to develop were the locks. In total 3 locks
were made which total 3,000 feet long. The Panama Canal opened on August 15,
1914. The grand total of the canal was 350 million dollars. The money spent was a
considerable amount during the time period because of World War I. During the
construction of the canal, more than 25,000 workers died. The Panama Canal
employed many people and helped boost the
The Pros And Cons Of Medicinal Marijuana
Introduction Medicinal marijuana is one of many ethical issues that are
encountered in the medical field. According to National Institutes of Health
Medicinal marijuana is a cannabis plant that contains the mind altering chemical
delta 9 tetrahydrocannabino (THC) and other similar compounds such as
cannabidiol (CBD). THC and CBD are the two most important ingredients in
medical marijuana. Both THC and CBD have synergistic effects, but THC has the
psychoactive compounds which alters the mind (NIH, 2017). Now legal in 29
states, it is being used for medical purposes such as alleviate pain, reduce seizures,
and appetite stimulation. There are controversies regarding the effects of using this
drug such as hallucination, intoxication, or dependence. Although there are benefits
for its medical use, there are also risks involved just like in any drug. The decision
is up to the individual regarding its uses. Pros There are health benefits for the use
of the drug. Medicinal marijuana can help alleviate symptoms of cancer such as
nausea and pain. There are animal studies that show that marijuana extracts may help
kill cancer cells and slow growth of malignant cancer (NIH, 2017). It can help
stimulate the appetite for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) patient,
which may help improve food intake. It can help with anxiety and can reduce the
intraocular pressure for people with glaucoma. It can help veterans who have Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Statement Of Purpose Of Robots
Statement of Purpose
Robots are going to be new citizens in the human society. Day by day it proved its
capabilities and capacity, starting from very sophisticated Medical Surgeries to
versatile and simple pick and place application. New and innovative concepts like
Origami Robots, Spatial Manipulators, Biological Robots and many such have
justified their importance. The core aspect of all such robots and families is their
peculiar Kinematics and Dynamics. So, at the heart of all such innovation, it requires
fundamental excellence and knowledge in this field. Stanford University stands for
legacy in Innovation and Robotics. It is always a preference to work in kinematics in

8th Amendment History
One of the many things that has been highly controversial and still is to this very
day is how to properly punish and treat criminals. Here in America we now have
the Eighth Amendment to protect us from cruel and unusual punishment. This
was based off of a Parliament Act of 1689 that created England s Bill of Rights.
Before England had come up with the idea that humans should have guaranteed
basic rights, it wasn t a matter of whether or not a criminal would die, as much as it
was a matter of how they would die. Torture devices such as the guillotine, the
stake, the brazen bull, and the rack were used to spread the idea of fear and
punishment that was ineffectually used by leaders to try and control their people
throughout the history of Europe. Ironically, the guillotine was considered to be the
more humane of the torture devices. This is why it is so well known and was used
very often throughout history. The guillotine was a device used to execute its victim
by beheading them. It is made with a tall wooden structure that supports a slanted
and sharp blade at the top that was suspended by a rope. Located at... Show more

The brazen bull is an excellent example. Also known as the bronze bull or Sicilian
bull, this device was another method of killing with fire. It was made of a solid
piece of metal and had a door that was used to place and lock the victim inside. This
bull shaped metal deathtrap was then placed over a fire that slowly baked the person
inside while they screamed and cried until they no longer could. The bull was
purposely designed to amplify these screams and make them sound like the bellowing
of a bull. (Pegg, list25.com) The brazen bull, created additional amusement for the
audience, and served the added benefit of distancing them from the brutality of the
torture, since they couldn t directly see the victim, (Grabianowski,

Abstract: The project deals with the Block Nested loop Join operation on given relations. In the project, we used Adventure Works databaseto demonstrate the results. We observed the execution of the block nested loop Join. The project also takes into account the technical details of each relations, for example, what is the tuple size of the relation, what are the total number of blocks allocated for each relation, what are the number of tuples per block and so on. The algorithm for the Join are detailed and explored. Also for the algorithm, the best, the worst case is being elaborated. Further, even the available memory size, allocated memory size, are taken into account while retrieving the tuples from the relations. The number of Block transfers, and number of I/O seeks required for each relation are calculated. Finally, these time of each relation in the algorithm are compared to determine the role of tuples in Block Nested loop join. 2. Implementation: For the implementation purpose, Adventure Works is used as the database and Java is used for Programming. Net Beans is used for Java programming and

In the time, it took me to build out the spreadsheets plus the time it took for the folks at Mineral Soft to upload our data, I could have created all the data that is in Mineral Soft with the correct ties. It has taken more than 2.5 weeks to create all of the tract allocations for the wells in OEP and OMR, so that we can see the revenue associated with each acquisition. Nor in the county records could I find where we bought the interest in that Section, Township and Range combination. Did you know there is no function to mark a well as Sold? My current work around is adding z to the first part of well name. As the wells usually sort by name, adding the z to the beginning pushes the sold wells to end of the list. As for the Acquisitions, the tracts had to be tied and add the location information needed to be entered. If the Notes field was on the upload, the adding of the location information would have been done at the time of upload, saving me many hours. Instead of having to input the information in Notes field; actually, having some of the legal description as fields in the Acquisition tab would be wonderful. At least, having the County and State as a field in the Acquisition area would be helpful. Deeds called for adding the files and the lands covered, in the Notes field, for each and every deed associated with OMR and OEP. Again, having at least the County State for where the deed is recorded would be a great help. As it stands, the full legal description for every deed is being entered in the Notes field. Which is quite time consuming. The only function I didn t spend massive

Essay about Wal-Mart s Smart Inventory System After extensive last minute digging, I finally found a manager who trusted me enough to supply me with the name of the inventory system that is used. Unfortunately for me this is all I could uncover from my employer, but it is a start. Wal Mart uses the SMART system. Because of the way it is spelled I can only assume that it is an acronym. I have been searching for over an hour on Google.com and finally produced some meager results, but here they are. Background From the results produced, I am at the deduction that SMART is not an acronym after all. SMART is basically a tracking system, it keeps track of all our inventory, the on hand counts, and can automatically reorder product that is low or empty. As stated last week, most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Training usually takes less than one day. (Inventory FAQ) Weaknesses of SMART In all actuality, these are mostly just minor annoyances. Firstly, the system s on hand counts only update once every two hours. This may be because of the huge amounts of data that need to be updated, but customers get angry when the on hand says 25 and one can t be found. My second complaint is that the system has no way of recognizing theft. Again, this produces wrong on hand counts which sometimes become negatives, and is an overall pain to figure out what is actually wrong. I guess one could say my main complaint against the SMART system is human error. But what program can completely remove it? Possible Improvements I think the best solution for this problem would be removal of human interaction, but I realize that this is not possible. Therefore, my second proposition would be not allowing just any Associate to operate the Telxon. I have been there a total of 4 months and I can change prices and inventory counts at my leisure. I m sure you can imagine the havoc that could be wreaked if I weren t an honest Associate. I think there should be at least some kind of intensive training. Most of my training was in the same day and lasted under an hour. Instead of allowing anyone these options, just a handful of Associates should be

Here, OFDM system is considered which include repetition code to enhance the wireless link performance with simplicity. Symbol error rate (SER) performance is evaluated using binary phase shift keying (BPSK) and 16 qardature amplitude modulation (16 QAM) over generalized K fading channel. This channel model considers Nakagami m distribution to define multipath and gamma distribution to represent shadowing. Simulation results demonstrate that improved system performance can be achieved using repetition code in severely faded environment. A comparative study of coded and uncoded system is also given in this paper. Consequently, SER performance is improved with the increase in shape parameters. Keywords Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), Generalized K fading, binary phase shift keying (BPSK), 16 qardature amplitude modulation (16 QAM), symbol error rate (SER). After having spent so many years oppressed and unable to make way for themselves, women everywhere were growing tired of being unable to own property, keep their wages and the independence that an academic education gave them. The decades that ensued brought with them various female activists, men that supported them and a division of its own within the movement. • 12. A Lesson Before Dying Analysis A Lesson Before Dying is a deceptively simple novel that explores numerous complex themes. Which also explores a prison experience. Set in the fictional community of Bayonne, Louisiana, in the late 1940s, A Lesson Before Dying tells the story of Jefferson, a twenty one year old uneducated black field worker wrongfully accused and convicted of the robbery and murder of a white man, and sentenced to death by electrocution. Gaines uses harsh language to reflect the spiritual and personal alienation of humans in the twentieth century. In a sense, this book is more about the injustice in the world thanks to racism than actually presenting a treatise on how to live life. Yet arguably, we can infer such lessons from the way in which the novel presents us with a world where obvious injustice and inhumanity exists. Clearly, the conviction and execution of Jefferson is a prime example of this injustice deriving from racism. The way that he innocently accepts a ride from two men and then is implicated in a violent struggle, in spite of his lack of understanding of what is really happening, is enough to give him the death sentence. Ernest J. Gaines who was born in Oscar Louisiana who is a writer whose fiction, as exemplified by The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman (1971), his most acclaimed work, reflects African Americanexperience and the oral tradition of his rural Louisiana childhood. Every year during budget talks the welfare program is a featured topic as the government explores ways to cut the budget. There appears to be a lot of unnecessary spending due to abuse of the system and program administration complexity. There are many areas in which reforms could be instituted and the program could be expanded without misappropriation of funds. There should be greater oversight on the program s overall administration. Those charged with determining eligibility and administering the program need to receive more training and education on the more obscure program regulations. A personal example of the systems shortcomings on training and the regulations is with the status of persons residing in more than one household rule. During the time of eligibility, the applicant was newly married, but not living with spouse as he lived out of state and was denied benefits. In Chapter 1 of the Alabama Department of Human Resources Points of Eligibility the government lays out rules about the status of a person residing in more than one household. When an individual resides in more than one household for a portion of the same month, he/she can be included in only one of the households. Generally the determining factor for which household the above individual is to be included shall be the household in which the individual eats a majority of meals. (Points of

What this means is that once the place thrived and was ecologically balanced, but we tipped the balance slightly and wrecked havoc upon the environment. It has been noted to occur since the 1950 s and is ongoing. The reason that this dead zone occurs is because of a phenomenon known as eutrophication. Some species might thrive in conditions that other struggle to survive. For example some predators might need more oxygen then a smaller prey. With less predators being around, there is a huge burst in prey, which can eat up all of the bacteria. When the bacteria all die, the prey can t find any food and all die out. This causes a very unreliable food chain and can be dangerous to live in. In hypoxic zones what tends to happen is that marine life such as fish or shrimp die out quickly while the smaller organisms live. This causes whole species to die out leaving a dominance of gelatinous creatures such as jellyfish to thrive in. For instance, an organization can have individual servers for each of the following roles like Web Servers, Database Servers and Messaging Servers (MSV, 2012, p. 4). Instead of having a plethora of servers to handle these many different roles each server is virtualized to take on multiple roles here by the data center infrastructure can be consolidated from hundreds of servers to just tens of servers (MSV, 2012, p. 4). Initially this technology was implemented in data centers as a means for organizations to lower a data centers total cost of ownership; therefore, saving companies significant amounts of money on power bills, cooling equipment, and hardware in general (MSV, 2012, p. 5). Although today s cloud technology is widely developing into a product called Software as a Service (SaaS) (Srinivasan, 2013, p.48). In example, services like iCloud, Google Drive, or OneDrive from Microsoft are considered SaaS (Srinivasan, 2013, p.49). These examples offer a certain amount of free storage space for users who employ their services and have an account which is usually free as well. The primary concern

  • 28. The Theme Of Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird Inside the complexity of everyone s mind is woven with distinctive beliefs, attitudes and thoughts. In the sense of morality, some decide to take leadership influencing others, some follow the customs of society and some stand up for their own opinion. But what does it really take for one to stand out from the crowd to deal with controversial topics of society? Today I ll be discussing how the significance in character development of Atticus Finchhas enabled the audience in our generation to connect with themes of courage, racism and justice proposed in the Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Are we all born with courage or did we have the potential to become courageous? Does physical courage reflect the same on the inside? The idea of true courage from Atticus s point of view is to make right decisions without personal prejudice and then living by your values whether you win or lose. But honestly this is easy said than done. Atticus maintains his courage throughout the novel with one of the key events being his strong defence for Tom Robinson who was accused of rape. He accepts the point at the beginning that he is going to lose the case so he puts all his efforts not because Tom is an African American but truly because he is innocent. I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It s when you know you ve licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it no matter what. The implication

  • 31. Isolation And Of Mice And Men By James Joyce Explore the ways in which the theme of isolation is presented in Dubliners and Of Mice and Men. Isolation a complete, or near complete lack of contact with people or society. People can either ostracise you, deliberately shunning you out, which is mainly the type which can be found in the books which we have studied, or it can be very accidental. From The Dubliners, a collection of short stories, I have selected two that I feel can be related to themes of isolation and withdrawal: First, The Dead, written by James Joyce, set in Edwardian Dublin, and like Of Mice and Men, it contains strong themes of isolation, primarily between the two main characters, Gretta and Gabriel Conroy. Joyce presents Gabriel as being very out of control of the situation, and although in close proximity to his wife, they are both in very different worlds; very apart. In Eveline, she doesn t have any say on what she does with her life, often she finds herself isolated from her family, and is limited by the moral contexts restricting women at the time. The book Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, and set in rural southern California during the depression, follows the hopes of both Lennie Small and George Milton, towards their dream of owning a ranch together; a unique aspiration in a book full of insecurity and isolation. Most of the characters in this book are very isolated: by gender, for example there is only one woman, by race, for example there is only one black character, or even

What makes romantic comedies so appealing? Why do so many people like them? The Incredible Jessica James is a romantic comedy, that is also an adult s coming of age movie, but not your typical one. A typical romcom plays love as an almost insignificantly light hearted joke. While love is still joked about, it isn t quite as light hearted in The Incredible Jessica James. When people think of a rom com we typically think of one like: Sleepless in Seattle, You ve Got Mail, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, 10 Things I Hate About You , or Pretty in Pink. The Incredible Jessica James doesn t completely shy around the politics of today s society, it starts off light but gradually becomes a little more serious, shows the struggles of dating when two people start out not completely over their exes, and is even relatable to some people whose parents have had a rough divorced. Figure 3 shows dispersion of untreated, APS, FHES and TMSO treated TRNPs in different solvents after centrifuging at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes. After centrifuging, if most of the particle settles down it is an indicator of poor dispersion of the particle in the solvent. When the relatively large particles settles down and small particles remains in the suspension it is an indicator of medium dispersion. If all the particles remains in the solventand no precipitation is found it is an indicator of very good dispersion. From Figure 3 it is found that, untreated TiO2 is best dispersed in DMF and DMAc polar aprotic solvent which is also supported from small Z average diameter and acceptable PDI value. For untreated NP medium dispersion is found in DI water and ethanoland poor dispersion in TCB, Toluene, DCM, choloroform, THF and isopropanol. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old time railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge. 7. From about 1988, activists began to use the initialism LGBTin the United States. Despite the fact that LGBT does not nominally encompass all individuals in smaller communities (pansexual, nonbinary, agender, etc.) the term is generally accepted to include those not specifically identified in the four letter initialism (Shankle). According to LGBT, the first documented gay rights organization was founded by Henry Gerber. Gerber founded the The Society for Human Rights in Chicago, Illinois in 1924. The fight for LGBT rights has been a long and hard road and it will never end as long as the community is seen as inferior by straight and cisgendered people. The Effects Of Climate Change On The North Atlantic Region... 1.0 Introduction Climate change has progressively become more problematic for coastal societies in recent history as a result of elevated greenhouse gas emission levels across the planet. Increases in sea level and sea surface temperature, as well as atmospheric pressure accretion, are unnatural effects directly linked to increased carbon dioxide (CO2) release into the atmosphere. Some of the sources of these increases have come from the greater use of coal and gasoline for industrial and transportation purposes. Hurricanes (tropical cyclones), most common in the North Atlantic region, have intensified due to this global warming . But occurrences of such events are predicted to diminish (Emanuel, 2011). Hurricanes are expected to form less frequently in the North Atlantic, but they will become more intense and powerful over time. As high intensity hurricanes become more common events along the densely populated eastern coast of the United States, more resilient engineering solutions will need to be implemented by current generations to reduce their destructive impact. 2.0 With or Without Rock Seawall vs. Hurricane Sandy On October 29th of 2012, Hurricane Sandy stormed its way through the northeast region of the United States, causing tremendous damage to coastal areas. The combination of 80 90mph winds and waves in excess of 32ft high caused the destruction of property in northern New Jersey. The level of damage varied even between neighboring boroughs of

That s just what happened, Misty Copeland currently a principal dancer at ABT had a dream to dance there ever since she started to dance and she didn t think that she could do it,but with training, hard work, and passion you can achieve anything. For the month of September I decided to read Life in Motion written by Misty Copeland. This book was very inspiring in many ways. I learned so much that I didn t know, not only about Misty Copeland but also about ballet. I decided to read this book because, Misty Copeland is one of my idols, she is also a big inspiration and I really wanted to learn more about her. Overall this book was amazing. I would recommend it to not only ballet dancers but to also people who love non fiction because it is full of so many details and a lot of imagery that it makes a person feel like they are in her shoes dancing through her life. I would recommend this book because many people can relate to Misty Copeland in many ways, your mind wanders while reading, and because the plot was very unbelievable and surprising. Imagine reading a book about your idol and thinking wow I really feel like I am a part of their life. That s just what happened, while I was reading Life in Motion, I could actually feel and relate to what was happening to Misty Copeland. Development of Character in Cormac McCarthy s All the Pretty Horses In a journey across the vast untamed country of Mexico, Cormac McCarthy introduces All the Pretty Horses, a bittersweet and profoundly moving tale of love, hate, disappointments, joy, and redemption. John Grady sets out on horseback to Mexico with his best friend Lacey Rawlins in search of the cowboy lifestyle. His journey leaves John wiser but saddened, yet out of this heartbreak comes the resilience of a man who has claimed his place in the world as a true cowboy. However, he doesn t see beyond the repercussions of owning a ranch, the dedication and responsibility associated with running a ranch. Mr. Franklin teaches him to look beyond the fact that owning a ranch is a not as simple as it might seem especially for a six teen year old boy. In his journey across the landscape of Mexico, John s character in the novel begins to transform. He is beginning to move away from that boyish and naive kind of behavior and more towards the middle stage of between being a boy and a man; adolescence. McCarthy spends a great deal in describing John s adolescent s stage in this novel. Much of the time that McCarthy describes in this stage is when they are out on the prairie with the horses connecting with nature. This connection allows John to have and a clearer understanding that there is a divine line between men and horses and that you can t apply the same characteristics that you would apply to a horse to a man. In one instance, after a long day of riding John and Rawlins decide to stop for the night and rest. As he rests he lays on his back looking, out where the quartermoon lay cocked over the heel of the mountain s the vision of the moon gives the reader a sense of time and how it can be different from time on the prairie compared to time in a society.. Time on the prairie seems to be cocked or suspended in time, a sense that time
  • 50. How Did The Us Build The Panama Canal The Panama Canal is an important part of Panama and United States history. The Panama Canal was constructed in order to make the journey from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean shorter. This is extremely important because it shortens the journey for cargo ships making them financially more efficient. The Panama Canal was once owned by the United Statesbut is now owned by Panama. The Panama Canal is a perfect example of countries working together for a common goal. Although the canal was not built until 1914, the idea was proposed in the 1500s. The idea came from Spain but the proposal was so absurd that nothing came from it. The French also attempted a similar canal. Once again the plan was deemed too strenuous and the French stopped construction. The United States decided that the idea of a canal stretching from the Pacific to Atlantic oceans was an... The lead engineer, John Wallace, had problems with equipment and workers becoming ill. This caused Wallace to quit and construction to momentarily halt. President Roosevelt hired Lt. George Washington Goethals as the lead engineer in 1906. Goethals was a strict commander, who also cared about his workers; he improved working conditions while he was the lead engineer. One of the most difficult areas to build the canal was the Culebra Cut. Landslides were notorious and many workers perished. The next important structure to develop were the locks. In total 3 locks were made which total 3,000 feet long. The Panama Canal opened on August 15, 1914. The grand total of the canal was 350 million dollars. The money spent was a considerable amount during the time period because of World War I. During the construction of the canal, more than 25,000 workers died. The Panama Canal employed many people and helped boost the

According to National Institutes of Health Medicinal marijuana is a cannabis plant that contains the mind altering chemical delta 9 tetrahydrocannabino (THC) and other similar compounds such as cannabidiol (CBD). THC and CBD are the two most important ingredients in medical marijuana. Both THC and CBD have synergistic effects, but THC has the psychoactive compounds which alters the mind (NIH, 2017). Now legal in 29 states, it is being used for medical purposes such as alleviate pain, reduce seizures, and appetite stimulation. There are controversies regarding the effects of using this drug such as hallucination, intoxication, or dependence. Although there are benefits for its medical use, there are also risks involved just like in any drug. The decision is up to the individual regarding its uses. Pros There are health benefits for the use of the drug. Medicinal marijuana can help alleviate symptoms of cancer such as nausea and pain. There are animal studies that show that marijuana extracts may help kill cancer cells and slow growth of malignant cancer (NIH, 2017). It can help stimulate the appetite for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) patient, which may help improve food intake. It can help with anxiety and can reduce the intraocular pressure for people with glaucoma. It can help veterans who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

  • 55. 8th Amendment History One of the many things that has been highly controversial and still is to this very day is how to properly punish and treat criminals. Here in America we now have the Eighth Amendment to protect us from cruel and unusual punishment. This was based off of a Parliament Act of 1689 that created England s Bill of Rights. Before England had come up with the idea that humans should have guaranteed basic rights, it wasn t a matter of whether or not a criminal would die, as much as it was a matter of how they would die. Torture devices such as the guillotine, the stake, the brazen bull, and the rack were used to spread the idea of fear and punishment that was ineffectually used by leaders to try and control their people throughout the history of Europe. Ironically, the guillotine was considered to be the more humane of the torture devices. This is why it is so well known and was used very often throughout history. The guillotine was a device used to execute its victim by beheading them. It is made with a tall wooden structure that supports a slanted and sharp blade at the top that was suspended by a rope. The bull was purposely designed to amplify these screams and make them sound like the bellowing of a bull.
