Narrative Essay On Driving
Driving at night can be dangerous, especially when you had a long exhausting day. Sometimes I
find myself in a rush and can t help myself but to speed. The night I got into my first accident
was the night I learned a really valuable lesson. Which is not to speed. It was 9:45pm, rainy
night, on December 15, It was getting close to the end of my 12 hour shift, at Romoland Market.
It was a busy and long day. Customers kept on coming in and out consistently. The lines was
backed up all the way by the coolers. No time to take a 15 minute break. Finally, closing time was
around the corner, and I was eager to get home to my bed. Excited to go home, I jumped into my
1996 Kia Sephia. I got to the 74 East Highway, which was a two lane freeway. Everything was
going well as usual. Cars were passing me by at 60 miles per hour. Then, I felt something strange
that was coming from the steeringwheel. At the time, I just thought it was normal for a beat up
car to swerve. It felt like an alignment job was needed really soon. Brakes were also poor. I had to
stomp on the brakes all the way down in order for the car to stop normally. So me being me, I
ignored the issue and continued on my 45 minute drive home, which was in Loma Linda. Traffic
was slowing down, that s when my body started to feel weak, and my eyelids was so heavy, I was
trying my best to keep them opened, from how tired I was. I was struggling to keep them up.
Minutes went by, and I decided to speedup an extra 10 miles per

has been most worthwhile, when comprehending a concept. My interest in Software Engineering
arouse when I was in my second year of under graduation. I believe that Software Engineering is the
application of disciplined, systematic approach to the operation, development and maintenance of
software. The discipline of software engineering that increased my interest towards this field is it
covers tools, knowledge and methods to define software requirements and to perform computer
programming, software design, user interface design, software maintenance tasks and software
testing
.
As Software engineering encompasses the knowledge from different fields like computer
engineering, computer science, mathematics, testing methodologies, quality management, project
management etc I came to a conclusion that career in software engineering can be very rewarding
as there is demand for software engineers across the industries.

Advantages Of Starbucks Business Strategy
3:2 Starbucks basic Strategy:
According a research carried out by John Dudovskiy (2017), Starbucks business strategy is based
on the following four pillars:
1. Present third place experience: Apart from selling coffee and snacks, the cafe giant is design to
offer third place experience. The business place is so relaxing that customers tend to stay longer
and purchase more coffee and snacks and wants to come back again.
2. Offers high quality coffee: The coffee industry is highly competitive, so one of the Starbucks
basic strategies is its product differentiation. Even with the high price range of their product,
customers are ever willing to pay premium price. Their customer service is outstanding, which gives
them more competitive advantages. The cafe giant plans to speed up the presentation of the roaster

Michael Dell from Dell Corporation with $1,000 and an idea to build relationships directly with
computer buyers. Another example, Steve Jobs is a creative and innovation entrepreneur. The
personal computer industry itself began as an Apple wingding when the Cupertino, California
based company introduced the Apple II in 1977. Ever since, Apple has played the role of
generous host, spicing up the festivities with one tasty offering after another. Following the PC,
Apple served up many of the features that computer users have since come to take for granted,
including the graphical user interface, the mouse, the laser printer, and the color monitor. Yet
Apple has been forced to watch the celebrations from out in the alley, its nose pressed longingly
to the window as others feast: Today, more than a quarter century after its founding, it commands
just 2% of the $180 billion worldwide market for PCs. Almost everyone agrees that Apple s
products are not only trailblazers but also easier to use, often more powerful, and always more
elegant than those of its rivals. Yet those rivals have followed its creative leads and snatched for
themselves the profits and scale that continually elude Apple s grasp. Persistent Everyone has a
dream inside him or her heart deeply. Normally, everyone wish to become a rich man to fulfil their
unlimited desires.

Tumacacori Research Paper
Traveling to Tumacacori took me about twenty five minutes to half an hour to get there. The first
thing that I saw at Tumacacori was the mission and the front of the church. The front of the
church used to be painted with bright colors. The pediment of the church was reconstructed in
1921. The church is made up of three stories the baptistery which is on the ground floor, the
robing room on the next floor and the last floor is where the bell and the arches are found. The
inside of the church is called the nave which is the central part of the church. The first thing that I
saw when I walked in the church was the ruins and what caught my attention a lot was that there

The tombs were destroyed by weather, treasure hunters and by cattle. In the nineteenth century
the cemetery was used to round up cattle. When families started moving back to Tumacacori in
1900 they knew or suspected that it was a cemetery and called it Campo Santo which means
holy grounds and used it again to bury the dead. Juanita Alegria was the last person buried at
Tumacacori which was in 1916. 593 burials were recorded at Tumacacori between 1755 and
1825. My next stop was the store house which was a very nice and pretty building. In this
building they stored food like meat vegetables, fruit, grains and wheat. In this building there was
a set of stairs which use to lead to a second story were additional food and animal fodder was
stored. The Lime Kiln was used to store tons of raw material to fix building. Here at the lime
kiln they would heat up the rock and it would convert into powder and then after that they would
soak the powder in water for a day or two and that s when the paste was made. The melhok ki was

1)According to the Guest textbook, what is cultural anthropology (summarize in your own words
in a sentence or two), and what is a key method used to conduct research in cultural anthropology.
How does one employ this method, according to Guest (pp. 7 19)?
Cultural anthropology is the study of human beliefs and values. It is a way of learning and
understanding how humans act in different countries and cultures. Ethnography is one of the main
key method used to conduct research in cultural anthropology. Ethnography is designed to observe
other people s lifestyles and understands from the people natives point of view. The researchers

Ernest Hemingway Defeat
Ernest Hemingway
But man is not made for defeat, he said. A man can be destroyed but not defeated. (Hemingway,
29). This is one of the lines that Ernest Hemingway uses in one of his books, titled, The Old Man
and The Sea. It was published in 1952, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize the following year.
The story of an old fisherman s journey, his long and lonely struggle with a fish and the sea, was
considered to be the most popular of all his works. Fortunately for this well known author, he has
many more books, novels and short stories that his readers enjoy. Ernest Hemingway was born in

He only worked there for six months before responding to a Red Cross recruitment effort in 1918
(during World War I). There, he signed on and became an ambulance driver in Italy. In his non
fiction book, Death in the Afternoon, Hemingway describes some of his experiences during this
time, and how rescuers had to collect the shredded fragments of dead people. He was wounded
by mortar fire, but despite that managed to carry an Italian soldier to safety, and was awarded the
Italian Silver Medal of Bravery (Mayers, 1985). Hemingway spent a lot of time traveling, and
lived in some places, such as Kansas City, Toronto, Canada, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Paris and Key West,
Florida.
Hemingway was only eighteen at the time. He had several wounds on both legs, and had to be
operated immediately. Apparently, he fell in love for the first time with a Red Cross nurse, Agnes
von Kurowsky. They agreed to get married, but later on, she wrote him with the news of her
engagement to someone else, which left him heartbroken and devastated. Biographer Jeffrey
Meyers claims that Hemingway was devastated by Agnes rejection, and he followed a pattern of
abandoning a wife before she abandoned him in future relationships. Personally, one might think
that there is more to the way Hemingway was than what a reader may believe.
In his entire lifetime, Hemingway was known for his outlandish love life and his constant insistence

Essay on Media Addiction
Media Screen Addiction Definitional Argument Essay When most people think of addiction, they
think of crack heads and alcoholics. Although those are the most common types of addiction, there
are also more unusual things. Addiction is a psychological and bodily dependence on a substance
or practice which is beyond voluntary control. In a sense, every person has a form of addiction.
Weather to caffeine, or food, or cleaning, they are all small kinds of addiction. One addiction that
is spreading faster everyday and is gaining a lot of attention is media screen addiction. With
technology in today s day and age, communication and work can be done virtually anywhere in the
world. With access to people at all times through the use of media... Show more content on

An inability to control that choice becomes, in this view, simply a personal failing. But while it s
true that, in the end, we re all responsible for how we spend our time, it s an oversimplification to
argue that we re free to choose whether and how we use computers and cell phones, as if social
norms, job expectations, familial responsibilities, and other external pressures had nothing to do
with it (Car 2010).
Tolerance and withdrawal are the two identifying elements of addiction. Media screen addiction
is just like any other addiction by definition because it effects the three key cycles of addiction:
emotional, physical, and mental. Because addiction shows proof of these elements that are used
to help identify any other type of addiction screen addiction is just as much of an addiction as
anything else classified as an addiction with these underlying elements by researchers. We ve
reached a point, in other words, where it s more likely than not that we re looking into a screen at
any given moment when we re awake.
Evidence of media screens being like an addiction all tell tell signs of its use being addictive is

Kipling And Race
The author Rudyard Kipling in his book Kim mentions race almost everywhere possible. Race is
apparently one of the important things to the author. The author at the very beginning of the book
highlights the dark tanned skin of the people as he mentions and I quote burned black as any native
. He also stresses that he himself is white. One things the author masters in his book is mentioning
the raceof each and every character in the book. Let s take a look at one of the passages of the book
Though he was burned black as any native; though he spoke the vernacular by preference, and his
mother tongue in a clipped uncertain sing song; though he consorted on terms of perfect equality
with the small boys of the bazar; Kim was white a poor white ... Show more content on

She also points out that she is not fanatic about pure British decent people and goes on to criticize
them strongly by saying that they are worse than pestilence , which means plague. The reason for
his dislike is because these people come straight from Europe to work in the Indian bureaucracy,
who just have bookish knowledge about India and its languages, but lack the real knowledge about
India and its true culture and way of living.
Race therefore is quite important and this is not the only piece of writing that gives so much
importance to race. Orientalist Constructions of India, by Ronald Inden, also stresses upon race
and can be confirmed by the following passage from the book:
And in spite of successive waves of invasion and conquest by Persians, Greeks, Scythians,
Muhammadans, the national development of the life and literature of the Indo Aryan race remained
practically unchecked and unmodified from without down to the era of British occupation. No
other branch of the Indo European stock has experienced an isolated evolution like this. (Inden 426)
In conclusion, race, religion, background, language, sexuality, plays an extremely important role in
the story, if not the most important, and the author clearly emphasizes on it despite contradictory
views in the

What Are The Advantages Of Acrylic Mugs
Plastic Acrylic
Using promotional acrylic and plastic mugs is a practical way of marketing your business since
the products will be appreciated by the recipients who ll use them on a daily basis.
Difference Between Plastic And Acrylic
Plastic is a general term for material consisting of a wide range of synthetic and semi synthetic
organic compounds that are malleable, hence can be moulded into different solid objects.
Depending on the chemical process used in their synthesis, different types of plastic can be made,
characterised by their hardness, resistance to heat, tensile strength, density and glass transition
temperature. One such type is acrylic plastic.
Acrylic is moulded plastic that has great clarity and transparency, making it a great substitute for
glass since it s also shatter proof. You should however be careful when handling acrylic mugs
because they could crack or break when dropped. This type of plastic is safe to use given that it s
BPA free, and will not yellow with time. Additionally, its colours are weather and sunlight resistant,
making it a high quality material for personalised promotional mugs. ... Show more content on

problem with foreign carriers, both on interior U.S. routes and international markets. The
company fares and rates vary by significant price competition. They set ticket prices in most
domestic and international city pairs without governmental regulation. Prices and rates are
subject to the jurisdiction of the DOT and the government of the foreign countries involved.
Most of their tickets are sold by travel agents therefore fares are subject to commissions,

one of the largest airlines in the United States, capturing approximately 17.5% of domestic

Marva Collins Case Study
Educators require just books, a board, and a couple of legs that will last the day, Marva Collins
told Dan Hurley in 50 Plus magazine. These three things were basically all that Collins had when
she opened the Westside Preparatory School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1975 with the $5,000 she had
added to her benefits subsidize. Frustrated in the wake of instructing in the state funded educational
system for a long time, Collins chose to leave and open a school that would welcome understudies
who had been dismisses by different schools and marked problematic and closed off. She had seen
an excessive number of kids go through an insufficient educational system in which they were given
indifferent instructors, some of whom came to class artificially debilitated.

Milton Friedman And Milton Keynes
There have been different views from John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman and central banks
when it comes to inflation. However, what both John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman can
agree on is the fact that inflation is seen to be a great evil. Moreover, the central banks interpret
inflation as moderate being the fact that some inflationis seen to them as tolerable. Historically,
Friedman and Keynes have had disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For
instance, Friedman put forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep
interest rates to stabilize an economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in
control of inflation by the amount of spending produced between goods and services. Central
banks have viewed both reasoning s to Keynes and Friedman s theories and decided the monetary
policy is the best route for an economy to take. A great example of this can be illustrated in Canada
with inflation rates only being kept between 1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks
might have to deal with in other countries would be the change in political views and how much
power the government has over central banks to control cash flow throughout their respective
countries. The central banks must also avoid dealing with poor decisions made by government
leaders which could affect the economy tremendously. In many underdeveloped countries, there
have been a lot struggles even until present day where government leaders

Aboriginal Residential Building
Architects these days choose to design buildings inspired by nature and do it in such a way that
they add in green walls or perhaps structures similar to that of a tree whereas Aboriginal
architecture is as one with nature. It is as raw and untouched as it gets. The modern world wants
to get in touch with nature but they re losing the true essence to the meaning of nature. With the
modernization of Australia, cross cultural designs can be seen in a few buildings such as the
Marika Alderton House by Glenn Murcutt. Many ethnocentric views came with the final
completion of this house. Some people call this timber and metal structure the future prototype for
Aboriginal housing but the Aborigine client herself denied that fact. Traditional Aboriginal
housing is made up of lightweight materials such as straw and such and this is because it s much
easier to move and travel around since they are nomadic. With heavyweight and non moveable
structures, Aboriginal people lose a part of their culture. Furthermore, if a family or tribe member
were to pass away, residents would have to evacuate and move to a sorry camp, leaving that
particular house abandoned for months or maybe even years. This is just one of the many obstacles

Another study conducted by researchers at Tel Aviv University published in Nature
Communications hones in on the inverse correlation between the expression of oncosuppressor
microRNA and a pre established oncogene a cancer development gene. The study says that this
explains prolonged survival of pancreatic cancer, and the findings may very well yield future
cultivation of effective drug cocktails for fighting not only multiple cancer types but also several
other mortal diseases.
Lead study author, Ronit Satchi Fainaro, chairs the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology
at TAU, and he collaborated with Dr. Shay Eliyahu and Hadas Gibori among others on the study.
Pancreatic cancer is widely considered by experts to be one of the most aggressive cancers; most
patients last less than a year after diagnosis. Despite all the treatments afforded by modern
medicine, some 75% of all pancreatic cancer patients die within 12 months of diagnosis, including
many who die within just a few months, according to Satchi Fainaro. But around seven percent of
those diagnosed will survive more than five years. We sought to examine what distinguishes the
survivors from the rest of the patients.
Satchi Fainaro adds that his team figured they could develop new therapeutic strategies if

We have always lived in the Castle
In the story We have always lived in the Castle, by Shirley Jackson, the reader is presented with
only one perspective and that is Mary Katherine Merricat Blackwood s point of view. While many
aspect were present, the one that really stood out was that the Blackwood family does not
appreciate change. Everything is preserved: objects, food, routines, rooms, etc. So, it is clear that
when facing situations that cause change, both Mary Katherine and Constance Blackwood, the two
sisters who survived the murder of the family, would react a certain way. Merricat s reaction is seen
through different stages from non verbal, to verbal, to violent. On the other hand, Constance
seemed to welcome change for the most part... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That step was mostly seen when Merricat talked about her dislike of cousin Charles. She had, on
multiple occasions, said that Charles is a ghost (p.69), that he would soon go away, and that he
is causing uncle Julian to become more sick. The last straw was when Mary Katherine had
asked Charles directly Please will you go way? (p.80) and his reply was no. The third step
appeared when Charles kept threatening Merricat that he would win Constance over. She was
worried about losing her sister s affection, so, this young girl decided to scare Charles away. She
started listing off poisonous foods and their effect on the human body. On top of that, she trashed
his bedroom to the point where it became unrecognizable. Her last act of violence towards Charles
was when she started a fire in his bedroom which had successfully gotten her rid of him. She had
said: There would be nothing of Charles in there now, even his pipe must have been consumed
[by the fire] (p.102). In this scene, Merricat had repeatedly said that the fire that she had started
was Charles fire. This sentence alone represented her disconnection to the fire that she had
started, nothing was her fault, she merely took a measure to get rid of a nuisance. This concept
was mostly visible when Merricat said I wondered if I could go up the stairs and shut the door to
our father s room and keep the fire inside, belonging entirely to

Purpose
In this assignment I have chosen to investigate how Glenmorangie single malt scotch whisky
distillery use the marketing mix to be competitive with other distilleries.
Background Information
Glenmorangie has been distilling its single malt whisky since it was established in 1843. The
distillery lies on the banks of the beautiful Dornoch Firth, surround by barley fields, just on the
border of the Royal Burgh of Tain. Whilst on your tour around the distillery, you will see the
process all the way from masking and fermentation to distillation and maturation. During this you
will see all the casks, and gain a wide range of knowledge on Glenmorangie, its ... Show more

wider market due to their use of different types of advertising; TV adverts, brochures, selling in
shops, at the distillery, at airports and online. However they do not reach as wide an audience as
they could, they have a very weak and nearly non existent social media presences meaning they are
not reaching as wide an audience as they could, whether that be in buying their malt whisky or
visiting their beautiful distillery. They have lovely staff, and people often want to go back, creating
repeat customers. Overall Glenmorangie effectively use the marketing mix to be the best distillery,

City Council Decisions
Though I didn t complete my six hours, I suppose, the three hours I did had enough information
and influence on my thoughts that I believe pointed me in the direction the assignment was
made to. I went to a city council meeting, a few days ago, for this project, and I was lucky
enough to go at a time where the council was over seeing some rather important decisions that I
seemed to have a lot of personal opinion on. To try to answer the questions that this write up is
made to answer, I learned that the council discusses and debates new bill and local measures that
affect the town and community of the Fort Bragg area. I was lucky to get into a very interesting
topic of creating a Sanctuary City within Fort Bragg, thus creating a new Haven... Show more

Since normal people can t be expected to understand every point of view, every law, and every
aspect to a decision that needs to be made, they trust a group of people to make the decisions for
them. This, in small scale, is how our government works. Normal people and our society, has
realized that they can t make these decisions for the community because they can t understand
everything in play. To answer to this challenge, they put their trust into a system of people, the
government, to know the required information to make the decisions that have to be made to
keep the community together. This meeting, and my own reflection on its debates, made me
realize that everyone can criticize the government for the decisions they make, good or bad, but
in the end, that normal people simply can t understand every card in play in the society game.
Society is made up of everyone, not just a single group of people with a set group of problems
and influences. All must be accounted for when a decision is being made, or problems will arise.
The meeting made me realize that society, good or bad and however I personally, or anyone, feels
about it, has so much to account for when they work that error has to be expected. This what I drew

A New Hope Microwaves Essay
In the movie Star Wars A New Hope, Han Solo states, She ll make point five past Lightspeed
(IMBD, Quotes for Han Solo, 2015, para 49). This is referring to the speed of light. Microwaves
are used for heating foods quickly. Though, what most people don t use microwaves for is to
measure to speed of light with the help of electromagnetic waves.
Most people use microwaves everyday. A lot of people actually wonder how microwaves work. For
example, radio waves and radiation, microwaves use radio waves and radiation to heat foods (How
Microwave Cooking Works, 2015). Furthermore, radio waves heat foodby getting water molecules
out of food (How Cooking Works, 2015). In addition, the history of a microwave started off very
interesting. For instance, there was someone whose name was Dr.Percy Spencer, he accidently
discovered the microwave (Clevenger 2015). More importantly, Dr.Percy had a chocolate bar in his
pocket, he was testing a new vacuum and then the radiation and heat from the vacuum melted the
chocolate (Clevenger, 2015). In the end, microwaves are something that is very useful ... Show

Moreover, The speed of light is faster than everything that exists. For instance, Light can move at
the speed of 186,000 miles per second, the speed of light is also faster than the speed of sound

were trying to figure how to measure the speed of light. Of course, many different scientists like
Galileo tried to do experiments on this, but they never turned out to work(A Case of History in

How could two people so important in Valarie s life do such a thing to her? Marlene was

Disney s The Pastoral Symphony
Disney s Fantasia (1940) lies in a class separate from all other animations of program music. While
its initial reception was less than stellar, it has since become a standard film in home collections.
Theatrical performances, games, and many other derivatives of the brand now exist. Despite this, it
has also generated a fair amount of controversy. For example, it contains scenes that allude to
Darwin s theory of evolution, and others that display negative racial stereotypes. Yet the most
controversial scene at the movie s premiere was the animation of Beethoven s Sixth, the Pastoral
Symphony. This feature upset many classical music lovers who objected to the idea of giving
Beethoven s symphony an explicit storyline and a set of images that he did not have in mind. The
Pastoral Symphony is likely the most familiar example of program music, but most musicians and
critics seem to agree that this does not give a free pass to any form of interpretation. In the intro to
Fantasia, the narrator addresses this by cautioning the listener that the video clips were created
based on the musical interpretations of animators, not of trained musicians. From that cautionary
message to articles published as recently as this year, Fantasia remains a topic of controversy,
influenced by factors such as audience familiarity and general views on Beethoven himself. The
reach of this influence is not limited to reviews of the Pastoral Symphony feature, but rather
extends to the whole

Examining The Following Strategies For A Higher Branch...
When analyzing the following strategies as a comparison, my finding results illustrate some
similarities and some differences; however, these comparisons listed below:
Original Jurisdiction consists of the judicial system having the authority to observe a case first
before further examination of the evidence needing to decide in a higher courtroom setting. The
objective here is to see if the evidence is worth sending up to a higher branch within the judicial
system courts or for the courts to waive their rights due to speculation opposed to substantial
evidence. These courts remain linked to with the Supreme Court, due to the higher level of court
cases heard within the setting. For example Liberty Island, brought about a controversy as to
which state the Statue of Liberty belong to New York or New Jersey (The New Jersey Society of
Professional Land Surveyors, 2016).
Appellate Jurisdiction: consist of the judicial system having the authority to observe the evidence
in the court setting to seek out fault. The goal/objective here is to acknowledge those individuals
responsible for wrongdoings, mistakes, and failure to comply with the law. The Court of Appeal
served final verdict in the case of Reed v. King. When analyzing the court of appeal, the court
chooses to side with Martin, but for various reasons that can t implement in the District Court. For
example, this court evaluated the location of where the tournament was located and established that

The Arguments For The Existence Of God
Amie Kamara
Professor Davidson
Theology
16 November 2015
Rough Draft for The arguments for the Existence of God. The question Does God Exist? is a
well known asked question in the world. Most people believe they know the answer to it. The
religious people would say, well of course he does, while the non religious people or atheist would
say no He does not exist. Because evil exist and chaos exists, God cannot be all powerful. In the
modern world, there are many different opinions as to whether a God exists or not. This has been
an issue of great dispute because many people reverence different gods or no god at all. For years,
many philosophers have come up with theories, proofs, and hypotheses to prove the existence of
God, and a canon of arguments has been developed. The Arguments for the Existence of God sets
out to explain the everyday philosophical arguments for theism, and so to explore the case for the
existence of God. The arguments themselves are arranged under the following headings: The
Ontological Argument, The Cosmological Argument, The Teleological Argument, and The Moral
Argument will determine if there really is a God.
The ontological argument
An argument that attempts to prove the existence of God through abstract reasoning alone is
known as the Ontological argument. The argument begins with a clear explanation of the concept
of God. When people talk or think about God they usually think or say that he s a perfect being
meaning He is flawless, ideal

My Philosophy Of My Personal Philosophy In The Classroom
All students are unique individuals, who have their own way of learning. Some students, might find
it easier to learn from hands on work rather than reading materials. Others, may be capable of
learning with just reading content. Since every student learns differently, I believe there isn t just
one philosophical way of how students should be taught. I would incorporate a couple different
philosophies and teachingmechanisms into my classroom. I also believe that the environment a
child is in impacts the way they learn. Students should have a set of rules to follow, but also be
able to express what they think and feel just as well. My personal philosophyis that there are
numerous ways to teach children the materials they need to know. Pragmatism is one philosophical

will help them throughout life just as much as in the classroom. No matter what, in life you
must be on time for certain things. In a workplace you have a schedule to follow. I believe
implementing certain rules early in life gives the opportunity for success and good work ethic.
Number two will be to complete all tasks in a timely manner. This sets them up for a good work
ethic also. If all tasks are completed on time for the whole class, I will reward them by having a
game day. Number three, no talking during tests. If students are talking during a test, then that
makes it hard to see if they need a different learning method to catch on to the material. The class

Living Behind The Veil In Saudi Arabia
A veil is a piece of sheer material worn by women to conceal their faces, that very piece of
material symbolizes sacredness. In traditional Christian religion the veil is worn by the bride in
white on her wedding day as she approaches her groom at the alter. He uncovers her face at the
end of the ceremony and they kiss. Once that tradition is done the bride and the groom live their
lives together without her ever having to wear the veil again. However, In the Muslimreligion
predominantly in Saudi Arabiathe veil is also considered sacred, but used for different purposes.
For the women of Saudi Arabia wearing the veil is part of their everyday life. In fact it is
forbidden for them not to wear it, their veil is worn routinely. The women of Saudi should know
that living behind the veil is a form of abuse toward them. A life in front of the veil is more
enjoyable and liberating. Just because they walk in the street without their veil does not make
them promiscuous nor should they be punished for it. Living behind the veil may be all the
women of Saudi Arabia know, some may be comfortable with it, others afraid of the
consequences they will face for not wearing it. Either way they do not have much of a choice

Life Cycle of a Butterfly
Lifecycle of a Butterfly Introduction Lifecycle refers to the stages of growth and development of
a living thing. All living things go through different stages of development throughout their lives.
Change in actions and behaviors are deeply associated with the changes in the stages of life.
Butterfly is such an insect, which has a complete lifecycle consisting of four separate stages. In
this paper, we will discuss the lifecycle of a butterfly in order to get an understanding of all stages
of growth and development of a butterfly. Stages of Development A butterfly s growth and
development process is known as metamorphosis. There are four stages of development in the life
of a butterfly. Each stage is unique and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The head, thorax, legs, swollen abdomen, and wings come out of the shell one by one. A
butterfly rests for a while in order to let its structures become dry and hard. Once the structures of
a newly emerged butterfly become hard, it becomes ready to fly. A butterfly usually lives for two
to three weeks. However, there exist some types of butterfly, which can live for months.
Conclusion Summing it up, all living things go through different stages of development, which
represent their lifecycles. A butterfly has four stages of life, which include egg stage, caterpillar
stage, pupa stage, and the adult butterfly stage. A butterfly shows different nature and habits in
each stage of life. An adult butterfly represents the last stage of a butterfly s lifecycle in which a

The Causes Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War began in 1955 and ended in 1975, making it the second longest and, arguably,
the most controversial war the United States has engaged in to date. The war was a result of
ongoing tension between France and Vietnam. Their history dates back to the late 1800s, when
the French invaded the country and established French Indochina. Once the Vietnamese, more
specifically the Viet Minh, drove out the French in the First Indochina War, the nation was split
into North and South Vietnam. In hopes of preventing the spread of communism from the
North, America joined the conflict as an ally to the South. In the end, there would be 60,000
American and 2 million Vietnamese casualties. By 1975, a diplomatic solution was agreed
upon, US troops were sent back home, and Vietnam became united as one nation again (McNeil
and Mintz). 2. Rather than being referred to as a war, Vietnam is often called a conflict due to
the specific set of terms surrounding the situation. A war, in most cases, is described as a case in
which at least two nations or states are involved in an open and armed hostility exemplified by
active military operations, severe aggression and usually high mortality (Rohn, Was Vietnam a
War or Conflict? ). Under these conditions, Vietnam should be labelled as a war; despite that,
there was no declaration of war officially made by the US Congress, which technically classifies it
as a conflict. 3. The American public s general feeling about the Vietnam

A closer look at the return on assets ratio tells us that the company is not using its assets
efficiently to generate its profit, as the figure of 2015 is lower than that of the previous two years.
Return on investment ratio measures the ability to generate profit from owner s investment. From
the chart above we can see that while the figure in 2015 is greater than that of 2013, it is still less
than that of 2014. Thus, the company is showing a deteriorating performance and profitability
based on comparison with figures of the previous years. 2. Risk In order to determine the risk
associated with investing in a company, it is crucial to look at the company s financing of
operations. In particular, the investor should focus on finance through liabilities versus finance
through equity. While reliance on debt does not necessarily equate to less profitability, the impact
of debt management and interest expense on said debts is important for the company s future
performance. We can use financial ratiosto evaluate its risk profile:
Liabilities to assets ratio, or debt to capital ratio, gives a comparison on the company s total

the purpose of The Land of Fair Go is very similar, providing a voice to children who came from
third world countries detained in detention centres, and are similarly voiceless to people of the first

which addresses immigration from third world, war torn countries. The treatment of refugees and

both poems have incorporated repetition, which occurs at the beginning of lines 1 and 2, and 3

first stanza states how aborted children haven t been outside or felt parental care, while in The
Land of Fair Go similar subjects are explored and it also says how children detained haven t been

Identifying Differences Among Businesses
Identifying Differences Among Businesses In order to identify, analyse and evaluate the major
differences along the supply chain between the business to business (B2B) and the business to
consumer (B2C) marketing in the manufacture and retailing of fast moving consumer goods, it is
important to define the different terms. According to Wright, the supply chain can be defined as the
entire network of suppliers, factories, warehouses, distribution centres and retailers that participate
in the process from raw materials to finished products. (www.soltempo.com) The fast moving
consumer goods (FMCG) can be defined as the retail goods with a short shelf life either as a result

The research market In B2B, Wright states that the pressure to get industrial products with the right
benefits to market ahead of the competition is the main concern (Wright 2004). Secondary
researches such as the market, the trends are more used than primary researches as organisations
activity is based on economic and industrial trend. In B2B, there is a focus on making the products
matching the consumer demand. Secondary researches are needed but primary researches about
consumers psychology are more important as their wants and needs are changing over the years.
(Minett 2002) 2.5. The segmentation In B2B, customers are segmented by industry and individual
company needs as they are not numerous. There are two types of segmentation, the macro
segmentation and the micro segmentation. Both must provide the supplier with added value to
offer. The macro segmentation uses different factors: it distinguishes one sector from another, one

African Americans During Reconstruction Essay
African American Empowerment During Reconstruction (1863 1877) In the years 1863 1877,
blacks were able to make their first successful efforts in terms of empowerment, creating the
foundation for future African American movements. During reconstruction, African Americans,
through collaboration and politics, began to work at equal rights. By empowering themselves
politically, building communities and fighting against the lynching efforts of the KKK and other
anti black terrorist groups, African Americans began a movement to combat racism in the United
States. During reconstruction from 1863 1977, African Americans were able to lower the
political barrier American society had on them, previously being restricted from voting. Edmund
J. Davis was elected as governor of Texas in 1869; two black senators were also elected, one being
a former slave. The new body allowed for the Fourteenth and... Show more content on

In 1865 , slavery was abolished following the creation of the 13th amendment. The passing of the
Black Codes allowed for blacks to marry, own property and sue in court but did not allow for
them to testify against whites, be a part of any jury or serve in the state s military. In the text To
Kill a Mockingbird, Scout mentions It was an ancient paint peeled frame building, the only
church in Maycomb with a steeple and bell, called First Purchase because it was paid for from
the first earnings of freed slaves, (page 157, paragraph 7). As shown in the quote, Maycomb has a
history of freed slaves from a result of the 13th amendment; in this example, a church for African
Americans was built by African Americans in order for them to also be able to practice their
religion. By creating a sense of community, African Americans were able to fight together against
setbacks, such as the

Fareed Zakaria
While reading In Defense of a Liberal Education by Fareed Zakaria there are several references
to the study of Art History, even one publicly mentioned by President Barack Obama. Among
these references in Zakaria s novel art history was perceived as frivolous, questionable and waste
of a degree, not all quotes but most. I had to understand why the study of art history is how the
World took it and why, along with what Zakaria himself deemed it to be and how art history just
might help me among my studies. My first observation was that I myself did not know what art
history even was and why it was deemed so horribly. Indefinitely I searched up the definition of art
history discovering that is was the study of art objects in their historical development... Show more

And yet the Greeks and Romans studied geometry and astronomy alongside rhetoric and grammar
(Zakaria 43 44)
Zakaria also explains that in today s day and age with all of the technology, they must master how
technology interacts with how the humans work and play. This depends on the skills promoted by
art history, ... Steve Jobs explained that It is in Apple s DNA that technology alone is not enough. It
s technology married with liberal arts.. (Zakaria 82). This is how Zakaria tries to show us the reader
that art history along with liberal arts is necessary in today s age.
Art history so far has such an impact on everyday life it would be no surprise that it will surely
play a part in my day to day life along with my studies even without recognizing it. For majors at
this point I am taking art along with criminal justice. Obviously art history will surely impact my
art classes, for you need to know genre, design, format, and style. All things that can apply to any
artist s work and any types of medium. As for criminal justice I had to do some research, I conjured
up that the FBI maintains a twelve person art crime team which investigates art thefts and frauds,
they also have forensic artist which are highly trained specialists that are experts in the
reconstruction of crime scenes, bone structure, and witness descriptions of criminals.

Megacity Vs New York-Oldark A Megalopolis
A megacity is a relatively new term that stands to be defined. A megacity is more elaborate than
an average city in my areas of interest. It exceeds the characteristics of an average city in
population, infrastructure, culture, and poverty. Although megacities may look rather attractive to
an individual that resides in a rural area, megacities come with their own set of advantages and
disadvantages. They may seem like modern day utopias yet they also have their flaws. Even so,
megacities have dominated this planet and we can surely predict the growth of more megacities to
come.
There have always been large cities in the world that had large populations but it wasn t until the
1950s when the emergence of megacities actually began as New York Newark... Show more

A megacity can be just seen as a massive city, meanwhile a megalopolis was formed by the fusion
of two or more cities to collectively make one vast city. French geographer, Jean Gottman, was the
first to use the term megalopolis and he attributed it to the Mid Atlantic region that stretches from
Maryland to New York. It was the perfect location for a megalopolis as, The middle Atlantic
Coastal region provided early settlers with numerous opportunities for the development of deep
water, ocean oriented port cities (The Mid Atlantic). Although, this was the first use of the word
megalopolis, megalopolises are still common today and continue to grow.
Megacities have their advantages and disadvantages, however, it depends on who you ask. For
some better off individuals, the megacities are a dream come true. For an impoverished person, the
megacities may be a failed destination. The typical advantages are those of job opportunities,
entertainment, and comfortable amenities. The disadvantages of living in a megacity are the
crimes and the higher cost of living. Nonetheless, the future for megacities is bright. With the rapid
advancement of technology, megacities will continue to flourish and reach new levels of

Essay about Only a Girl in Boys and Girls by Alice Munro
Only a Girl in Boys and Girls
Alice Munro s short story, Boys and Girls, explores the different roles of men and women in
society through a young girl s discovery of what it means to be a girl. A close examination of the
elements of a short story as they are used in Boys and Girls helps us to understand the meaning of
the story.
The story is set in the 1940s, on a fox farm outside of Jubilee, a rural area only twenty miles away
from the county jail. The farm is a place that reflects the ingenuity of the narrator s father. The
pens for the foxes are arranged in neat rows, inside a high guard fence like a medieval town . The
pens each contain a kennel, a wooden ramp, and dishes attached to the wire fence. The fox farm is

The only other dynamic character is Laird, her little brother. At the beginning of the story he is
very young and obeys his big sister, no matter what she tells him to do; at the end, he too has
grown up somewhat and no longer accepts her authority unquestioningly. He puts an end to their
bedtime singing ceremony when he tells her, You sound silly, and tells on her when she lets the
horse escape. Laird is the only character beside Henry Bailey that is given a name. His name, a
Scotch form of the title Lord, demonstrates his importance to the family, as the only boy, and his
place in society, which will have more respect for him than for his sister. Yet, in the story it is
evident that the narrator is just as good a worker as her brother far better, because of her
advantage in age. It is only because she is a girl that her mother expects her to be a help inside the
house, not outside of it. The other characters are the narrator s father, her mother, and the hired
hand, Henry Bailey. Henry is someone whom the children admire for his ability to make his
stomach growl at will, and for his laughter, which was full of high whistlings and gurglings and
involved the whole faulty machinery of his chest, and for other characteristics that adults might find
vulgar, but that are wondrous and exciting to the children. The father is a creative, inventive man
and a hard worker, who keeps his thoughts to himself but, in the narrator s opinion, can be
depended upon. The mother is a

Desktop Surveys This survey takes place before the site has been visited and before construction
has begun which is during the very early stages of planning. The survey involves a number of
different things like the internet, books, maps, geological maps and council offices which all play
a part within the survey. A good starting point is to consult a number of large scale maps of the
proposed site to check the site boundaries, building lines, existing buildings and other man made, or
natural, features which will affect the future buildings. A comparison with older maps may give
some clues to determine former use and potential hazards that may arise.

Analysis of representative soil samples will also be undertaken to characterise different soil material,
for example, pH, particle size, organic matter, potential contaminants and so on.
P1.2:
Ground investigations are a crucial part of the survey as they determine the nature of the land and
explains the different types of soil which helps identify the type of foundations that should be used
or how water absorbent the soil is. A few stages of a ground investigation include; Trial Pitting,
Dynamic Probe testing/Sampling, Cable Percussive Boreholes and Rotary Boreholes.
Trial Pitting Trial pits can easily be performed by hand but it will take triple the amount of time
and you won t be able to get a good depth to get a good samples. Trial pits are usually dug
mechanically because it is finished much faster and can be dug a lot deeper. Trial pits are
normally excavated at 4.5m deep as this provides a good insight of what the foundations will be
sitting on and it provides information if deeper foundations are needed. The advantages of
machinery is that greater depths can be achieved which would result in a more detailed soil sample
test etc. A disadvantage of this would be minor ground disturbance which could cause problems.
Dynamic probe testing/Sampling This can be performed with a tracked percussive or pneumatic
samplers which then collect the samples in plastic test

Laughlin s Sterilization Law Analysis
An example of how the pseudoscience being performed affected eugenic programs is through
immigration reform. After 1890, the United States experienced an influx of immigrants from
central and southern Europe, the Balkans, Russia, and Poland (Allen, The Ideology... 25). Allen
notes that the older Anglo Saxon and Nordic immigrants perceived these new immigrants as
inferior. Henry Laughlin, Superintendent of the EugenicsRecord Office and a key figure in the
American eugenics movement, conducted research on the rate of appearance of undesirable traits
(Allen, The Ideology... 25) and the percentages of the defective in institutions (Allen, The Misuse...

Progressivism responded to the changes of the time period by enacting a series of social
changes such as prohibition and women s suffrage. Martin Pernick, a history professor at the
University of Michigan, key characteristic of the progressive movement was its belief that
science would be able to address social problems (26). Pernick also relates progressivism with the
development of modern propaganda in that propaganda presented information that would influence
public opinion on an issue. Propaganda played a large part in popularizing eugenics among the
public. Among other measures, exhibits were set up to present eugenic ideas to school groups and
the general public, popular eugenics organizations were established to expose citizens to eugenic
ideas, and articles were published for the average reader to present eugenics as logical and
scientifically based (Allen, The Misuse... 115). This attitude produced an environment in which the
public was more receptive to a movement like eugenics that masqueraded as a scientific solution for
dealing with the degenerate portion of the

The Historical Jesus, Jesus as Messiah, and Jesus the...
Jesus Christ, the figure who changed history more than any other, did many miracles to show
others that he was God s son. God gave Jesus power over nature, power over disease, and even
power over death. As a young Christian, my knowledge was a little understudied, to say the least.
Now, as this module comes to a close, I realize that I have learned so much! While writing this
summary paper, I intend to discuss my understanding of the historical Jesus, Jesus as the Messiah,
and Jesus as the Personal Savior. About two thousand years ago God arranged the most humiliating
circumstances possible for his incarnation into humanity. Jesus was born to a teenage virgin named
Mary and her husband Joseph.

When Mary arrived, Elizabeth s baby leaped in her womb for joy. This confirmed Gabriel s
prophecy that John would have the Holy Spirit even before birth (New Advent, 2006)
Joseph considered calling off the marriage after learning that Mary had conceived. Gabriel
appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to marry her because the conception was caused by the
Holy Spirit. Joseph took Mary as his wife and kept her a virgin until Jesus was born.
Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She
laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepards visited Jesus there.
Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus
would rule Israel. Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. Warned by an angel,
Joseph took his family to Egypt. After Herod died, they returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a
town called Nazareth. Jesus grew up in Nazareth. The Bible gives us a little information about
his childhood. Jesus was taken to Jerusalem for Passover when he was twelve. He spoke with the
teachers at the Temple, who were amazed at his understanding (Life of Christ, 2006). Joseph was
a carpenter, and taught Jesus the trade. Jesus worked as a carpenter until his ministry began. He
was about thirty years old at the time. Jesus taught people how to live godly lives. As he traveled
around Israel, Jesus taught with sermons and parables. He

Informative Study Of Gender Roles In Children
A very informative article on the study of the gender roles children feel stressed to conform to.
The article provides insights in how children interpret each other s masculine and feminine
behaviors. When children are informed of how each gender feels the same, it relieves the pressure,
thereby allowing the children to be more at ease with one another and exhibit their true behaviors.
The stereotype of genderroles produces health risks such as eating disorders and low level bullying.

What is Disability Insurance?
The Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability programs are the largest of
several Federal programs that provide assistance to people with disabilities. While these two
programs are different in many ways, both are administered by the Social Security Administration
and only individuals who have a disability and meet medical criteria may qualify for benefits under
either program.

Every disability insurance policy from every insurance company is very different, this is not a
product to simply shop for the most competitive rate. To buy the cheapest disability insurance
policy on the market is to throw money away. The odds of getting paid a monthly benefit under a
cheap contract may be significantly lower than receiving benefits from a quality contract.
About Disability Insurance web site, June 2006
Types of Disability Insurance
Most people are familiar with two types of disability insurance: short term disability, and long
term disability. Short term disability insurance is included as part of a benefits package with
many different employers, and usually provides an income in the early part of disability. Short term
disability insurance generally provides coverage for a period of several weeks, and does not exceed
a two year term.
Long term disability, however, can last for a period of several years. These types of policies may
be included as a part of employment, in a benefits package, but many purchase these disability
insurance policies individually.
As far as disability insurance goes, however, there are still more policies to learn about. One type
of disability insurance is the Own Occupation Disability Insurance. The definition of this policy

Stereotypes At A Department Store
If you look at a department store, it is broken up into different sections based on age and gender.
Most department stores are divided into women s, men s, boys, girls, juniors, toddlers, infants, etc.
Within each specific section, there is a particular vocabulary used in reference to certain articles of
clothing, and genderplays a huge part in that. For example, Certain words may appear in the
women s clothing section that would never appear in the men s section and vise versa. In
America, the words skirt or dress will never appear in the men s section of a department store. That
is because society only recognizes skirts and dresses as a female clothing item. This is probably the
easiest concept to understand when connecting language

  • 2. Narrative Essay On Driving Driving at night can be dangerous, especially when you had a long exhausting day. Sometimes I find myself in a rush and can t help myself but to speed. The night I got into my first accident was the night I learned a really valuable lesson. Which is not to speed. It was 9:45pm, rainy night, on December 15, It was getting close to the end of my 12 hour shift, at Romoland Market. It was a busy and long day. Customers kept on coming in and out consistently. The lines was backed up all the way by the coolers. No time to take a 15 minute break. Finally, closing time was around the corner, and I was eager to get home to my bed. Excited to go home, I jumped into my 1996 Kia Sephia. I got to the 74 East Highway, which was a two lane freeway. Everything was going well as usual. Cars were passing me by at 60 miles per hour. Then, I felt something strange that was coming from the steeringwheel. At the time, I just thought it was normal for a beat up car to swerve. It felt like an alignment job was needed really soon. Brakes were also poor. I had to stomp on the brakes all the way down in order for the car to stop normally. So me being me, I ignored the issue and continued on my 45 minute drive home, which was in Loma Linda. Traffic was slowing down, that s when my body started to feel weak, and my eyelids was so heavy, I was trying my best to keep them opened, from how tired I was. I was struggling to keep them up. Minutes went by, and I decided to speedup an extra 10 miles per ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is one of the lines that Ernest Hemingway uses in one of his books, titled, The Old Man and The Sea. It was published in 1952, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize the following year. In his non fiction book, Death in the Afternoon, Hemingway describes some of his experiences during this time, and how rescuers had to collect the shredded fragments of dead people. He was wounded by mortar fire, but despite that managed to carry an Italian soldier to safety, and was awarded the Italian Silver Medal of Bravery (Mayers, 1985). Hemingway spent a lot of time traveling, and lived in some places, such as Kansas City, Toronto, Canada, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Paris and Key West, Florida. Hemingway was only eighteen at the time. They agreed to get married, but later on, she wrote him with the news of her engagement to someone else, which left him heartbroken and devastated. Biographer Jeffrey Meyers claims that Hemingway was devastated by Agnes rejection, and he followed a pattern of abandoning a wife before she abandoned him in future relationships. Although those are the most common types of addiction, there are also more unusual things. Addiction is a psychological and bodily dependence on a substance or practice which is beyond voluntary control. In a sense, every person has a form of addiction. Weather to caffeine, or food, or cleaning, they are all small kinds of addiction. One addiction that is spreading faster everyday and is gaining a lot of attention is media screen addiction. But while it s true that, in the end, we re all responsible for how we spend our time, it s an oversimplification to argue that we re free to choose whether and how we use computers and cell phones, as if social norms, job expectations, familial responsibilities, and other external pressures had nothing to do with it (Car 2010). Tolerance and withdrawal are the two identifying elements of addiction. Media screen addiction is just like any other addiction by definition because it effects the three key cycles of addiction: emotional, physical, and mental. Because addiction shows proof of these elements that are used to help identify any other type of addiction screen addiction is just as much of an addiction as anything else classified as an addiction with these underlying elements by researchers. The author at the very beginning of the book highlights the dark tanned skin of the people as he mentions and I quote burned black as any native . He also stresses that he himself is white. One things the author masters in his book is mentioning the raceof each and every character in the book. Let s take a look at one of the passages of the book Though he was burned black as any native; though he spoke the vernacular by preference, and his mother tongue in a clipped uncertain sing song; though he consorted on terms of perfect equality with the small boys of the bazar; Kim was white a poor white ... Race therefore is quite important and this is not the only piece of writing that gives so much importance to race. Orientalist Constructions of India, by Ronald Inden, also stresses upon race and can be confirmed by the following passage from the book: And in spite of successive waves of invasion and conquest by Persians, Greeks, Scythians, Muhammadans, the national development of the life and literature of the Indo Aryan race remained practically unchecked and unmodified from without down to the era of British occupation. No other branch of the Indo European stock has experienced an isolated evolution like this. Historically, Friedman and Keynes have had disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For instance, Friedman put forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep interest rates to stabilize an economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in control of inflation by the amount of spending produced between goods and services. Central banks have viewed both reasoning s to Keynes and Friedman s theories and decided the monetary policy is the best route for an economy to take. A great example of this can be illustrated in Canada with inflation rates only being kept between 1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks might have to deal with in other countries would be the change in political views and how much power the government has over central banks to control cash flow throughout their respective countries. The central banks must also avoid dealing with poor decisions made by government leaders which could affect the economy tremendously. In many underdeveloped countries, there have been a lot struggles even until present day where government leaders ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aboriginal Residential Building Architects these days choose to design buildings inspired by nature and do it in such a way that they add in green walls or perhaps structures similar to that of a tree whereas Aboriginal architecture is as one with nature. It is as raw and untouched as it gets. The modern world wants to get in touch with nature but they re losing the true essence to the meaning of nature. With the modernization of Australia, cross cultural designs can be seen in a few buildings such as the Marika Alderton House by Glenn Murcutt. Many ethnocentric views came with the final completion of this house. Some people call this timber and metal structure the future prototype for Aboriginal housing but the Aborigine client herself denied that fact. Traditional Aboriginal housing is made up of lightweight materials such as straw and such and this is because it s much easier to move and travel around since they are nomadic. With heavyweight and non moveable structures, Aboriginal people lose a part of their culture. Furthermore, if a family or tribe member were to pass away, residents would have to evacuate and move to a sorry camp, leaving that particular house abandoned for months or maybe even years. While many aspect were present, the one that really stood out was that the Blackwood family does not appreciate change. Everything is preserved: objects, food, routines, rooms, etc. So, it is clear that when facing situations that cause change, both Mary Katherine and Constance Blackwood, the two sisters who survived the murder of the family, would react a certain way. The last straw was when Mary Katherine had asked Charles directly Please will you go way? (p.80) and his reply was no. The third step appeared when Charles kept threatening Merricat that he would win Constance over. She was worried about losing her sister s affection, so, this young girl decided to scare Charles away. She started listing off poisonous foods and their effect on the human body. On top of that, she trashed his bedroom to the point where it became unrecognizable. Her last act of violence towards Charles was when she started a fire in his bedroom which had successfully gotten her rid of him. She had said: There would be nothing of Charles in there now, even his pipe must have been consumed [by the fire] (p.102). In this scene, Merricat had repeatedly said that the fire that she had started was Charles fire. This sentence alone represented her disconnection to the fire that she had started, nothing was her fault, she merely took a measure to get rid of a nuisance. While its initial reception was less than stellar, it has since become a standard film in home collections. Theatrical performances, games, and many other derivatives of the brand now exist. Despite this, it has also generated a fair amount of controversy. For example, it contains scenes that allude to Darwin s theory of evolution, and others that display negative racial stereotypes. Yet the most controversial scene at the movie s premiere was the animation of Beethoven s Sixth, the Pastoral Symphony. This feature upset many classical music lovers who objected to the idea of giving Beethoven s symphony an explicit storyline and a set of images that he did not have in mind. The Pastoral Symphony is likely the most familiar example of program music, but most musicians and critics seem to agree that this does not give a free pass to any form of interpretation. In the intro to Fantasia, the narrator addresses this by cautioning the listener that the video clips were created based on the musical interpretations of animators, not of trained musicians. From that cautionary message to articles published as recently as this year, Fantasia remains a topic of controversy, influenced by factors such as audience familiarity and general views on Beethoven himself. When analyzing the following strategies as a comparison, my finding results illustrate some similarities and some differences; however, these comparisons listed below: Original Jurisdiction consists of the judicial system having the authority to observe a case first before further examination of the evidence needing to decide in a higher courtroom setting. The objective here is to see if the evidence is worth sending up to a higher branch within the judicial system courts or for the courts to waive their rights due to speculation opposed to substantial evidence. These courts remain linked to with the Supreme Court, due to the higher level of court cases heard within the setting. For example Liberty Island, brought about a controversy as to which state the Statue of Liberty belong to New York or New Jersey (The New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors, 2016). • 27. The Arguments For The Existence Of God Amie Kamara Professor Davidson Theology 16 November 2015 Rough Draft for The arguments for the Existence of God. The question Does God Exist? is a well known asked question in the world. Most people believe they know the answer to it. The religious people would say, well of course he does, while the non religious people or atheist would say no He does not exist. Because evil exist and chaos exists, God cannot be all powerful. In the modern world, there are many different opinions as to whether a God exists or not. This has been an issue of great dispute because many people reverence different gods or no god at all. For years, many philosophers have come up with theories, proofs, and hypotheses to prove the existence of God, and a canon of arguments has been developed. The Arguments for the Existence of God sets out to explain the everyday philosophical arguments for theism, and so to explore the case for the existence of God. The arguments themselves are arranged under the following headings: The Ontological Argument, The Cosmological Argument, The Teleological Argument, and The Moral Argument will determine if there really is a God. The ontological argument An argument that attempts to prove the existence of God through abstract reasoning alone is known as the Ontological argument. • 33. The Causes Of The Vietnam War The Vietnam War began in 1955 and ended in 1975, making it the second longest and, arguably, the most controversial war the United States has engaged in to date. The war was a result of ongoing tension between France and Vietnam. Their history dates back to the late 1800s, when the French invaded the country and established French Indochina. Once the Vietnamese, more specifically the Viet Minh, drove out the French in the First Indochina War, the nation was split into North and South Vietnam. In hopes of preventing the spread of communism from the North, America joined the conflict as an ally to the South. In the end, there would be 60,000 American and 2 million Vietnamese casualties. By 1975, a diplomatic solution was agreed upon, US troops were sent back home, and Vietnam became united as one nation again (McNeil and Mintz). 2. Rather than being referred to as a war, Vietnam is often called a conflict due to the specific set of terms surrounding the situation. A war, in most cases, is described as a case in which at least two nations or states are involved in an open and armed hostility exemplified by active military operations, severe aggression and usually high mortality (Rohn, Was Vietnam a War or Conflict? ). Under these conditions, Vietnam should be labelled as a war; despite that, there was no declaration of war officially made by the US Congress, which technically classifies it as a conflict. 3. In Dawe s poem the first stanza states how aborted children haven t been outside or felt parental care, while in The Land of Fair Go similar subjects are explored and it also says how children detained haven t been outside due to the fact they are either not allowed or are too scared due to the discrimination they face when been outside by locals. During reconstruction, African Americans, through collaboration and politics, began to work at equal rights. By empowering themselves politically, building communities and fighting against the lynching efforts of the KKK and other anti black terrorist groups, African Americans began a movement to combat racism in the United States. During reconstruction from 1863 1977, African Americans were able to lower the political barrier American society had on them, previously being restricted from voting. Edmund J. It exceeds the characteristics of an average city in population, infrastructure, culture, and poverty. Although megacities may look rather attractive to an individual that resides in a rural area, megacities come with their own set of advantages and disadvantages. They may seem like modern day utopias yet they also have their flaws. Even so, megacities have dominated this planet and we can surely predict the growth of more megacities to come. Essay about Only a Girl in Boys and Girls by Alice Munro Only a Girl in Boys and Girls Alice Munro s short story, Boys and Girls, explores the different roles of men and women in society through a young girl s discovery of what it means to be a girl. A close examination of the elements of a short story as they are used in Boys and Girls helps us to understand the meaning of the story. The story is set in the 1940s, on a fox farm outside of Jubilee, a rural area only twenty miles away from the county jail. The farm is a place that reflects the ingenuity of the narrator s father. He puts an end to their bedtime singing ceremony when he tells her, You sound silly, and tells on her when she lets the horse escape. Laird is the only character beside Henry Bailey that is given a name. His name, a Scotch form of the title Lord, demonstrates his importance to the family, as the only boy, and his place in society, which will have more respect for him than for his sister. Yet, in the story it is evident that the narrator is just as good a worker as her brother far better, because of her advantage in age. It is only because she is a girl that her mother expects her to be a help inside the house, not outside of it. The other characters are the narrator s father, her mother, and the hired hand, Henry Bailey. Henry is someone whom the children admire for his ability to make his stomach growl at will, and for his laughter, which was full of high whistlings and gurglings and involved the whole faulty machinery of his chest, and for other characteristics that adults might find vulgar, but that are wondrous and exciting to the children. This confirmed Gabriel s prophecy that John would have the Holy Spirit even before birth (New Advent, 2006) Joseph considered calling off the marriage after learning that Mary had conceived. Gabriel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to marry her because the conception was caused by the Holy Spirit. Joseph took Mary as his wife and kept her a virgin until Jesus was born. Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepards visited Jesus there. Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus would rule Israel. Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. Warned by an angel, Joseph took his family to Egypt. After Herod died, they returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a town called Nazareth. Jesus grew up in Nazareth. The Bible gives us a little information about his childhood. Jesus was taken to Jerusalem for Passover when he was twelve. He spoke with the teachers at the Temple, who were amazed at his understanding (Life of Christ, 2006). Joseph was a carpenter, and taught Jesus the trade.
