Summary Of Broken Promises
Broken Promises Nebraska was home to many Native Americans, including the Ponca tribe, who took
great pride of their homeland. Many people think the Ponca tribe was once a part of the Omaha,
Osage, Kansa, and Quaqaw tribe. These five tribes lived in an area east of the Mississippi River. No
one knows the exact date of their separation or why they had separated, but it was believed to be as
early at 1390, and as late as 1750. The Ponca tribe was never a very large tribe. In 1789 the Ponca was
living near the mouth of the Niobrara River. Around this time, the tribe took a fall and had suffered
from a smallpox epidemic. When Lewis and Clark had arrived, they only averaged them with 200
people in 1804, but by 1874, they were back up to 733 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the Sioux figured out that they now had a chance to push the Ponca s out of Indian Territory, that
s just what they did. They took their crops, horses, and gave many threats towards them. The third
most famous war called the Great Sioux war began in 1876. Although the U.S. government had won
the war, it still didn t mean they would stop pleasing the Sioux. The U.S. government gave what was
left of the Ponca land to the Sioux. The treaty they made with the Ponca s was completely broken.
They cheated the Ponca Indians, and they were furious. In January 1877, Edward C. Kemble asked the
Ponca s to let him speak during church service. He told them that the government had given their
fields and farm to the Sioux for a greater purpose. He also told them that they be getting new virgin
lands in Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma). By this time the there only 738 Ponca Indians in the
tribe, which meant they were not much of a force to the federal government. On February 2, 1877 the
Ponca trail of Tears began. Edward C. Kemble, Standing Bear, and nine other Ponca leaders went to
the Osage reservation in Indian Territory to pick a spot for the new Ponca Reservation. Standing Bear,
White Eagle and the others were not impressed by the bad soil, heat, and the humidity. They told
Kemble that they weren t going to bring their people to this land, and they wanted to go back home.

Why Is Seoul An Attractive To Tourist
Creative Project: Why Seoul is Attractive to Tourists
Is Seoul an attractive city for tourists? Seeing a nation s entire national history in a short time is really
difficult for tourists, because the national history is normally over 3000 years like South Korea.
However, Seoul has a great benefit in this sense. For instance, Seoul is only 605.28 km2, which makes
it one of the smallest cities among the major metropolises in the world, allowing tourists to see most
of the national history of South Korea in a single location. Only this advantage of touring Seoul in a
short time does not necessarily make Seoul an attractive city to tourists unless it also has interesting
historical artifacts and locations. Interestingly, Seoul preserves not only ... Show more content on

In 1225, when Kojong was the king of Koryo dynasty (1213 1259), the Mongol Empire demanded
tribute from Koryo, but Goryeo refused ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Additionally, the Mongol s envoy
(Chu ku yu) was killed, and this incident became an effective excuse to invade Koryo dynasty. Hence,
after the invasion of Koryo by Khitan, the Mongols invaded Koryo in 1231. The Mongol invasions of
Korea (1231 1273 AD) consisted of six major campaigns lasting from 1231 to 1259 AD. These
invasions were tremendously ruinous and lead to the killing of many civilians throughout the Korean
Peninsula. As a result, the peasantry of Koryo suffered much hardship. For instance, the Mongols
burned everything such as houses of Koryo people, the ripened grain fields. It caused the shortage of
food supplies in Koryo, so the population had to be declined and whole villages fell into ruin ( The
Koryo Dynasty. ). Moreover, the peasantries and defenders of Koryo were cruelly slaughtered by their
conquerors (Mongolians). The most suffering period of Koryo people was when Charadai (the general
of Mongol) invade the Korean Peninsula in 1254. On this occasion it is said the corpses of the dead
were too many to be counted and the entire region where the Mongols passed was reduced to ashes (
The Koryo Dynasty. ). However, the government on Kanghwa did not protect the poor peasantry of
Koryo, while they only protected themselves. This miserable situation of Koryo people not only bred
hostility toward their government, but also dampened their desire to fight against the Mongols. This is
the resentment of Koryo

Advantages Of Takaful
Takaful business was established based on Takaful Act 1984 as a guideline and reference for the
operation of takaful to companies. According to the Act, there are two groups of takaful business
which are family solidarity business and general business. Family solidarity business concerns with
solidarity certificates that include any type of takaful business carried on as incidental only to the
operator s other solidarity business while general business is all takaful business which is not family
solidarity business (Malaysia, Takaful Act 1984). Basically, the general takaful is same like

Obstacles to achieve higher market penetration of takaful are because of lack of players, market
awareness, lack of products, low capitalisation of takaful companies, poor culture of consumer
education and inconsistent messages from some Shariah advisories (Parker, 2006). Competitive
advantages of takaful are on the unique offerings and follow the Shariah compliance that should be
utilised by the Malaysian takaful operators.
Research methodology used for this paper is on literature review on a few articles in the scope of
takaful. The main focus on these articles is on the marketing strategies that can be used to promote the
takaful insurance by understanding the costumers behaviours to create awareness. These analyses are
emphasised more on the family takaful insurance in the takaful industry.
Due to lack of awareness of Malaysians on takaful insurance and its products offerings and also low of
market penetration, the best method is by analysing the purchase intention and also participations
behaviours of potential customers. Empirical researches have been conducted to investigate the
behaviours of these customers and further give recommendations to takaful operators and takaful
marketers to conduct appropriate marketing plan to these potential customers (Rahman,

Why Should The Government Have A Huge Role In The Economy
In this essay I will be talking about how I feel about the government having a bigger role in the U.S
economy. Why should the government have a bigger role in the U.S economy? Like I said this is about
my opinion should the government have a bigger role in the U.S economy, in the next paragraph I will
tell you my opinion about this statement.
I m going to be giving my opinion about this whole government having a bigger role in the U.S
economy. I mean most people would say no for a great reason, but some people say yes for a great
reason too. That if they had a bigger role it would help the economy with many things that we need
help with like money for the projects we volunteer for. Like if the people that said no because they

Essay Use of Theme in Everyday Use
The theme of Everyday Use is not immediately apparent, although Alice Walker begins the story by
creating a familiar setting in the comfort of home that lead to the spirit of heritage and its importance
in our lives. The protagonist, a single mother of two daughters, sees herself as . ..large...rough... slow
witted and not fitting into the social strata of her oldest daughter, Dee, who . ..has held life always in
the palm of her hand. The story begins with the mother preparing the yard to be . ..more comfortable
than most people know....like an extended living room for Dee s homecoming. This line early in the
story also shows the mother placing a high value on comfort.
The mother describes her younger daughter, Maggie, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although her name and the food are not good enough for them, Dee immediately sets her site on the
butter churn and dasher, which were hand carved by the husband of Aunt Dee (the oppressor) from a
well loved tree in their front yard. Indicating years of everyday use and hard work, hand prints on the
butter churn and rump seat outlines on the table benches are noted. She wraps the dasher and churn to
take with her, although the churn still has clabber in the bottom, . ..to make something artistic out of it.
Although she rejects the familiarity and history of her family, she is eager to cash in by taking
heirlooms from her family to serve as art in her lofty life somewhere faraway.
Culturally, the symbolism of a quilt is understood to be an heirloom piece that is closely guarded and
highly prized. The ownership of the quilt and the generational lines it passes down is known before
the piecing is begun. Stitching the pieces together is done by groups of women. The tiny bits of cloth
each carry a memory, one from grandpa s shirt, one square from an aunt s Christmas dress, a piece
from the flannel nightgown a mother wore as she pulled her sick child close to her bosom. The pieces
are carefully and artistically pieced together into a collage of

I Am A University At Grove City High School
About the Author (Part I (A D))
Hello, my name is Rae Kelly Hamilton! I am a rising senior attending Grove City High School, where
I m a member of the graduating class of 2016. I hope to attend a prestigious university, preferably a
military Service Academy, Johns Hopkins University, or Washington and Lee University. I also hope
to play collegiate volleyball while studying either a hard science or engineering while on a pre med
track. Outside the classroom, I enjoy volunteering, reading, and hanging out with friends. One day, my
dream is to be a military doctor with expertise in cardiology.
My particular interest in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) was sparked when I met a little boy
while on vacation who is a DMD patient.
Thesis (Part II (A B))
New parents often bask in the enjoyment of their young children as they lovingly watch the days pass
as their life story is written. Though a great amount of parents are lucky enough to avoid an encounter
with illness threatening to steal their child s life, many can only hope that their child will not be the
single male child of every 3,500 to be afflicted by DMD (Peterlin , 2014). Too many boys somewhere
between 400 and 600 annually will be born with DMD and its sister illness Becker Muscular
Dystrophy in the United States alone (Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, 2015). The
symptoms associated with this devastating disease generally render the child wheelchair bound by
adolescence and fighting a life expectancy of only 18

Monosaccharides Lab Report
Experimental Purpose: In this lab we are testing for monosaccharides disaccharides and
polysaccharides. Monosaccharides are directly related to the tongues recognition of sweet things. This
saccharides are very simple which allows your tongue to taste them. Disaccharides and
polysaccharides on the other hand are too complicated for our tongues to pick up the sweet taste. All
these saccharides are made of the same thing. Mono means one. Poly means many. These saccharides
play a big role in our ability to taste. During our experiment we also used to chemical solutions. Iodine

polysaccharide. And the Benedicts is just the opposite when the Benedicts recognizes ... Show more

Place tube in the hot water. After about 2 4 minutes in the hot water, check if the solution changed
color. If the solution did change color to a more yellow, orange, brick red color, it is positive for the
benedict s test. Positive for monosaccharides. Manipulated variable: The iodine and benedict s
solutions. Responding variable: Whether the solution has monosaccharides, disaccharides or
polysaccharides. Controlled variable: Same water temperature, same amount of water in beaker, same
amount of the water in your solution, same amount of the benedicts and/or iodine added to the test
tube per test. Experimental control: The color change of the solution caused by the benedicts or iodine
solutions added to the mixture. Validity measurements: Our experiment results are very reliable. After
every trial we always clean out the test tubes. And before we start our experiment we always set the
hot plate to high. Results: As a result when we tested the tomato samples it was negative for the iodine
test and positive for the Benedix test. This means that my hypothesis was correct and that tomatoes do
contain monosaccharides. Sample Iodine Test Benedict s Test Tomato Negative

Benir V. Alba
Legal Opinion on the Benir v. Alba Case
(Benir)
On the present case being addressed to the International Court of Justice in dealing with the matter of
sovereignty over the Island of Manca, the issue of legality belonging to which side of the parties at
dispute is put forward. The problem however, lies in, the period at which the dispute took place, for
International law has not evolved at that time unlike in this day and age.
The Statement of fact is as follows:
The Island of Manca, small in size and blessed by temperature vegetation, has been discovered by the
Albanese State in 1560, when it was inhabited by a native tribe, the Mancans. The Albanese state put a
flag, appointed a non permanent governor and occasionally sent ... Show more content on

Also, no objection to the form of Berniri government took place. Thus, this fulfills the Self
determination of the Peoples condition and guarantees a peaceful atmosphere.
2. After clarifying the former point to the court, the second and most crucial element to shed light on is
Territorial Acquisition. As demonstrated before in the Island of Palmas Case before, there must be
evidence as to a peaceful and continuous display of sovereignty on the territory; it should also be a
public and enduring practice. In the case of Benir, there is enough evidence to prove a peaceful and
continuous display of its sovereignty existed and still does, it established state control, managed good
relations with the natives (through intermarriage), as they coexisted peacefully, and it was willing to
protect the rights of other states in peace and in war, as well as offer for the safeguarding of the rights
of non nationals residing in it, however this is an infrequent happening since the island is small in size.
Thus, a peaceful atmosphere was provided for continuously by the Beniris, with only one exception at
the time of the attack put forward by

Finding the right candidate for such a high profile position for a large city to replace a long standing
member of the force with extremely mixed reviews will be difficult and require expertise and many
considerations. The city of Dallas Police Department (PD) current chief has been an officer since 1983

to his Dallas PD bio (2013),

in the United States (world population review, 2016). The current Police Chief, David Brown, may not
have the best relationoshipwith the officers he supervises; however, he does have a great deal of
support from the community (Dallas News, 2016). Community oriented policing deals with the ore
issue for police and the chief that leads them; building a working, trusting relationship with your
community. Without this trust, crime reduction is not possible, thus, it is imperative that law
enforcement invest time in their communities to build relationships and gain the trust of their
communities. Additionally, a positive relationship is necessary to collect valuable intelligence and
sustain policing efforts. Even with successful sweeps and arrests, empowered citizens and community
leaders are essential to maintain support during difficult times.

Genetic Modification ( Gm )
Genetic modification (GM) is the use of modern biotechnology techniques to change the genes of an
organism such as plants or animals. No one is permitted to deal with a genetically modified organism
(GMO) in Australia unless the Australian Gene Technology Regulator has determined that the GMO is
safe to human health and the surrounding environment. As the world s population continues to
increase and is expected to double within the next few years, the world s demand for food and fibre
has increased drastically. GM foods and fibres seem to be the only means for a solution to provide for
the high demand in which we now face. (Agric.wa.gov.au, 2014) Many foods in Australia contain
GMO s including Cereals, non organic dairy products, papayas, bread, rice, potatoes, corn and many
more. Genetic modification of foods and fibres includes inserting genes from one organism into
another. The purpose of this is to modify the genetic code in animals and plants to make them resistant
to pests or farming techniques such as being soaked with chemicals that would normally kill them or
even just to make the plants and animals more productive. (Leigh Erin Connealy, 2013) If an organism
is genetically modified it can be breed or crossed with another organism whether it s GM or non GM.
Reproduction techniques such as cloning which is done through asexual reproduction or selective
breeding and hybrids can be used to breed the genetic modification from the parents into the offspring

Team Work And Team Effectiveness
Executive Summary:
This report describes and analyzes the statement Is establishing team work difficult in organizations .
Thus it focuses on the importance of team work in the organizations and its influence on people s
behaviors. This report begins with the explanation of the terms team , team work and team
effectiveness . It then explores whether team work is easy or difficult to establish in the organizations
through the context of an example from a renowned multinational organization Ford Motors. In the
end, the paper explains four management theoretical models on the implication of team work and team
effectiveness in the organizations.
Introduction:
Team work and team effectiveness are very crucial for the success of any organization. In order to
understand their implications in any organization, it is imperative to first understand the meaning of
the term team . A team can be defined as a set of different people with different skills and different
individual goals but working towards a common organizational goal (Kozolwski Bell, 2003). Team
work can be defined as the process when people from different backgrounds but interdependent in
tasks work together collaboratively as a group (Benoliel Somech, 2014). Furthermore, the team
effectiveness can be defined as the capacity of the team to accomplish the objectives administered
environment in an organization (Baiden Price, 2011).

Bruce Springsteen s Life And Accomplishments
Bruce Springsteen grew up in Freehold Borough, New Jersey. He was raised in what you would call a
working class household. His mother, Adele, worked as a secretary in a local insurance office and
brought in way more money than his father, Doug, did. Doug worked any job he could really get his
hands on to help out with the family, but he had trouble all throughout his life with holding down a
steady job. What nobody knew is that this environment was molding a little boy into the rock star
sensation that everybody would grow to love.
Springsteen was born in 1949 at Monmouth Medical Center, on the twenty third of September, in
Long Branch, New Jersey. He was taken home to Freehold Borough where he would spend his
childhood years. This would also be the town where he got his high school diploma at Freehold
Borough High School, however this is not where he began his education. He originally began his
education at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. He was brought up Catholic because his parents were
Catholic, so they saw it fitting to send him to a Catholic School, but Springsteen later rejected the

Comparison Of Robert Gross s The Minutemen And Their World
The Minutemen and Their World by Robert Gross tells the story of the common man in Concord,
Massachusetts before and after April 19, 1775. The book offers a glimpse of the people s lives during
the colonial period, creating a context for the American Revolution through social history and the
settlers ordinary lives before the fateful shot heard around the world. Gross shows how the town of
Concord majorly changed; he depicts the life of the people to show the bigger picture of the American
Revolution as it affected not only the lives of the militiamen and delegates, but the ordinary
townspeople as well. Gross argues that as the battle for independence began, it had a significant
impact on the Revolution as it transformed from a quiet country town into an important revolutionary
hub. Concord was like any other small town at the time before the Revolution; its inhabitants were
concerned with only the issues of their city as many lived simple lives in which they farmed and took
care of their families. The town was mostly populated by Puritan English settlers and families, many
of which became wealthy. Thus, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History Of Christianity
1. What is the point of origin?
Christianity is said to go back to Jerusalem. This is where it came from, during the first century. It
teaches you about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the son of Virgin Mary and
is also said to be God s son. He was born in Judea and in the bible it says that he was raised in the city
of Nazareth.
2. How did the religion/philosophy spread?
Christianity spread in different ways but probably the most influential one was the early missionary

Alex Ferguson Research Paper
Roles, Responsibilities and Skills of a Coach
This assignment will involve me discussing the roles, responsibilities and skills of two sports coaches,
Alex Ferguson and Linford Christie.
Roles
Role model
Alex Ferguson A role model is a person who serves as a positive example and whose behaviour and
success is emulated by others. The way the coach conducts themselves in the presence of their athletes
is important to get the respect of their athletes so they are able to coach them successfully. Alex
Ferguson is a fine example of a role model because he produces such successful teams and always
conducts himself in a professional and respectful manner which rubs off on his players. This is
especially evident in players such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linford Christie One of the roles that Linford Christie would have to fulfil is being a manager. For
him this would include being well organised for example having the training sessions planned before
the session and most importantly the one to one man management of each of his athlete s. This is
obviously very important for Christie to have as he coaches individual athletes and he has to manage
them in the right way to get the best out of them. For example, some of his athletes might respond
better
to him having a go at them after a poor performance and some might respond better to a friendly arm
around the shoulder. It is vital that he is able to recognise which athlete s need which type of
management or he could be damage his relationship with the athlete which could result in a drop in
their confidence and their performance.
Alex Ferguson and Linford Christie are similar in that they both have to have good man management
skills which means they have to be good communicators, good leaders and be able to support their
athletes individually. The main difference between these two coaches when it comes to managing is
that Ferguson has to make a lot more decisions because he has to make a whole team work together
successfully so he has the added responsibilities of picking the squad, when to drop players and who
needs to be rested whereas

The Case That Moved America
Working Title: The case that moved America Any child denied entry to any school due to their
ethnicity is automatically put at a disadvantage compared to other children. This case was originally
five different cases in different parts of the United States. These cases were all compounded into one
when appealed to the Supreme Court. Brown v. Board is the most historical revolutionary Civil Rights
case due to it forever changing the manner in which different races in America interact with each
other. Children segregated from other children because of their skin color not only causes them to be
more insecure, but it also causes a large knowledge gap between the segregated parties. Children who
are separated from others because of their skin color grow to develop their own insecurities and
diffidence. After reviewing psychological studies showing black girls in segregated schools had low
racial self esteem, the Court concluded that separating children on the basis of race creates dangerous
inferiority complexes that may adversely affect black children s ability to learn (PBS). Races being
divided by these social barriers create a disparity between them. It is unequal for children of different
races to be separated. Equal education is required in order to give all children an equal chance at
success and making differences. Public education in the 20th century, said the Court, had become an
essential component of a citizen s public life, forming the basis of democratic

Shakespeare s Presentation of Shylock in the Merchant of Venice
In the Merchant of Venice, Shylock is continually involved in the bond plot. This plot is probably the

When Shylock accuses Antonio of spurning him, Antonio replies with call thee so again and spit on
thee again . This, is my opinion, justifies the revengeful side of Shylock. Shylock talks down the
forfeit of a pound of flesh but Shylock really wants to profit from Antonio s death, as he will be able
to charge higher interest rates when Antonio can no longer undercut him. By the end of this scene we
find Shylock bitter, greedy and also intelligent, however his eloquent description of Antonio s abusive
language and behaviour redresses the balance a little in his favour.
His daughter s elopement with a Christian and the theft of his money and jewels also give us pause for
thought about our attitude towards him (Act 2 Scene 5). Shylock leaves the house he gives Jessica the
responsibility of being in charge of the house. He strictly instructs her to keep the house and goods
secure. This is quite ironic as whilst he is gone, she takes his wealth and disguises herself in order to
elope with Lorenzo. This isn t surprising as in Act 2 Scene 3, Jessica talk about how unhappy she is
living with her father. Jessica is ashamed of Shylock, which congregates feelings of compassion for
him because of the fact that she is ashamed of him. However, the comic way in which he is displayed

Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment...
Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment and Breakfast Cereal
For any product to be sold successfully, especially to the mass market, the firm selling the product will
need to be marketed with a promotion. Promotion is one of the four elements of the marketing mix,
referring to the way in which a product is promoted this is more than just advertising, it includes
public relations, endorsement and any activity which will help to increase awareness of the product
and support the development of sales (Hooley et al, 2007). Promotional strategies are required in order
to create awareness in the potential target market regarding the product, and to help stimulate sales by
influencing the decision making process (Kotler and Keller, 2011). In order to demonstrate the
application of promotion strategies to different products can be examined, with promotional strategies
those products suggested. The two products are exercise equipment and breakfast cereals.
Exercise Equipment
Designing a commercial strategy to exercise equipment requires the marketer to identify the message
that will suitably communicate not only the purpose and function of the product being sold, but why
and how it will satisfy needs of the consumer. Kotler and Keller (2011) argue that people do not buy
products; they buy the benefits that are provided by the product. For example, when purchasing a bed
the buyer is purchasing the ability to get a good night s sleep, when a consumer purchases a

Girls And 10 Things I Hate About You
Life as a teenager is arguably the most confusing, difficult, and stressful time in a person s life. There
is a great amount of expectations and insecurities placed on teens that hinder them from being active
participants in the world. They must undergo all of the changes of young adult life to develop into
successful members of society. In the 1990 s and the 2000 s, two separate films were released that
depict the cultural norms, social expectations, and developments of teenagers at that period of time.
Those two films, Mean Girls and 10 Things I Hate About You, successfully illuminate the motives and
characterizations of young adult life and the troubles and tribulations that come along with it. 10
Things I Hate About You is a film about teenagers growing up in Seattle in the 1990 s. The music,
clothing, and slang presented in the movie all emulate the time period in which it was released. The
movie itself is based off of the play by William Shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew. Senior, Kat
Stratford, portrays an angsty teenager, degrading any and all typical high school experiences. Her
sister Bianca, on the other hand, is well liked and well desired by two boys in school. She emulates the
typical teen girl, obsessed with fashion, boys, and popularity. As per their father s rules, Bianca cannot
date until uninterested Kat does. Patrick Verona, the mysterious bad boy of school, is approached by
the popular Joey Donner as he offers to pay Verona to take out

The opening of both stories are quite different. The Black Veil is written in the third person and The

His physical appearance is overcast a dark sallow man, with dark beard and rather heavy eyebrows.
Dickens description likens him to a ghost
the fixed eyed saturnine face . angry sunset is used to add a fiery red light to his dark valley, which is
shown with phrases such as his figure was foreshortened and shadowed , and again adding an element
of mystery because the narrator says I had shaded my eyes with my hand before I saw him at all to
first of all, introduce the spectre s gesture, but also to give the impression that the light doesn t reach
the valley, but skims the top and he has to block it out to see into the darkness, and by using the word
angry , he makes the sunlight seem almost intimidating in itself. He first plants the idea of the
Signalman not being all he seems, in the readers minds when he says, as the Signalman looks down
the Line, There was something remarkable in his manner of doing so, though I could not have said, for
my life, what. But I know it was remarkable enough to attract my notice which suggests that he is not
entirely normal. When the narrator asks about a path into the valley, he says the signalman
looked up at me without replying here, he seems to be somewhat preoccupied and maybe wary of him.
Dickens uses the phrase skimming away over the landscape , which sounds ghostly, to describe the
vapour given off by the train.

Thomas Stearns Eliot and Ernest Hemingway both captured the essence of the modern man during a
time in history that the world was changing with the characters they created and the symbols used.
Modernism was the name given to different styles of literature and art after World War I. This war was
so horrific that many of the writers used their own experiences when creating their stories and poems.
T.S. Eliot and Ernest Hemingway both created characters that embody the modern man in two
different, but similar ways. J. Alfred Prufrock from T.S. Elliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
and Nick from Hemmingway s Big Two Hearted River . Both Prufrock and Nick share the
characteristics of loneliness, anxiety, and finding their place, that represent the modern man during
this era. Even though not all modern men are lonely, the characteristics, commonalities, and
differences that both of these characters share are represented in these pieces of work. The time period
before and leading up to World War I, the literary world took a more imaginative approach when
writing stories and poetry. During this war the world changed. The destruction that civilization caused
to each other was brutal and many artists and writers thought of the world as mechanical and
impersonal. A common theme and characteristic of the modern man was loneliness, and this became a

The Viewpoints of Three Muslim Women on Being Oppressed
When non Muslims in the United States think of Islam the first things that comes to many their minds
are September eleventh, terrorist, the middle east, and oppression of women. Most Americans believe
that Muslim women must be oppressed because they have to wear those veils over their heads ,
completely cover themselves, and their husbands are allowed to have multiple wives. A survey last
year by the Council on American Islamic Relations found that more than half of the 1,000 U.S.
respondents believe that Islam encourages the oppression of women.( al Jadda, A veil doesn t mean

Muslim Next Door . The second is Aisha Stacey who is an Australian revert to Islam that works as a
writer at the Fanar Cultural Islamic Centre in Doha, Qatar. The third is Khalida Tanvir Syed who is the

Reasons For The Death Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet are a play based on two star crossed lovers who ended in tragedy. Love, Irrational
thinking and the family feud among the two households along with Tybalt provoking fights, and Lord
Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Count Paris whom she did not want to marry. The three main reasons
for the death of Romeo and Juliet are the characters Lord Capulet and Tybalt as well as timing and fate
of all the events and confrontations leading up to their deaths. Lord Capulet forced Juliet into a
marriage that she had no say in and was only to the benefit of her father. Tybalt provoked many fights
with both Romeo and Mercutio his friend, in turn, eventually killing Mercutio. Romeo then kills
Tybalt worsening Romeo and Juliet s relationship by pulling them apart. Finally, the feud among the
two households from the get go prohibited their relationship. All in all, these three aspects of the play
lead to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet, the father and Mother of
Juliet were the first decisive factor in pulling apart Romeo and Juliet. The parents of Juliet constant
mission to court her to Count Paris affect Juliet in many ways. It gave her hatred for her father and
mother as well as hurting Romeo and Juliet s marriage. Lord Capulet put stress and unwanted tension
between the two lovers in turn affecting their decision making ability. Although unknown to him, Lord

How Smart Phones Helps Drivers On The Road
Have you ever been told by a family member or friend to no use your phone when driving, because
you can get into an accident? I know I have. For as long as I can remember, there has been a stigma
placed on phone usage while driving, and because of that stigma, some people view them as a
distraction, and nothing more. As a result, they miss out on the vast repertoire of features that could
actually be of help to them. Since the uprising of distracted driving accidents, all the good that smart
phones can do kind of goes unnoticed. But what a lot of people fail to realize, is that smart phones
have an abundance of features that can assist drivers on the road. Only when these features are used,

Smart phone navigation systems are one of the many ways that they can assist drivers while on the
road. GPS navigation has evolved from simple turn by turn navigation, into something more. Bartlett
and Spinelli also mention a feature in which drivers can choose whether they want to detour around
certain obstructions like car accidents, lane closings, and obstructions of that nature. Averting these
types of obstructions gives the driver a much safer route to their destination, as well as eliminates the
threat of a possible collision, which tends to occur most frequently in those areas. They state how this
simplifies finding those trouble spots, and how it eliminates flicking through various radio stations
while trying to get traffic info, especially since the radio tends to focus on the major accidents, and
sometimes misses the other obstructions. Bartlett and Spinelli expand upon this, and go into detail on
how it works: With a traffic service, the navigation device will receive periodic updates based on your
driving path or (if entered) programmed destination. It can provide on screen alerts and even indicate
the traffic flow rate. Usually the driver can tap a traffic icon to receive info on how long the delay is,
what type of obstruction (accident, construction, lane closing), and then decide whether or not to
detour around a trouble spot. Also, general traffic in the area can often be displayed by going into the
menu of the

The Message Of Jesus Christ
But who do you say that I am? (Mark 8:29). This same question that was asked of Peter and the
disciples speaks within the heart of each person we share the Gospel message with. There comes a
point, at the crux of our catechesis, where the question, Who is Jesus? needs to be answered. At the
heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth. (CT 5). This
compelling statement given by Pope John Paul II in his exhortation, Catechesi Tradendae, calls
catechists to always remember the purpose of catechesis. They are to help lead others, through loving
example and careful communication of doctrine, to meet a real Person, the Person of Jesus Christ and
foster a deeper union with the Blessed Trinity. To proclaim the message of Jesus Christ is vital to an
organic catechesis. As catechists, it is our vocation to bring others to know of the personal relationship
that God is seeking to have with each one of them. A relationship in any facet of the human life
requires conversation through both listening and responding. Our catechesis should be no different. As
Pope Francis states in Evangelii Gaudium, It is the message capable of responding to the desire for the
infinite which abides in every human heart (EG 165). As we actively listen to the word of God, we
should be cut to the heart (Acts 2:37) in the same way as those who heard Peter s Pentecost speech as

Summary Of The Art Of Failure By Malcolm Gladwell
The Art of Failure
In the essay, The Art of Failure by Malcolm Gladwell we are given the meanings of choking and
panicking while being in a stressful situation. Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us
other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell
starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress
when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the
championship; she lost it when choking took over her.
As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her
touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author
describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell
gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress
begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of
what they are doing.
The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch,
who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble
throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode,
throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also

Greco Roman Wrestling And Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
There are multiple fighting techniques that are very different. But two that are very different, then very
much alike. They are Greco Roman Wrestling (wrestling) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). They have
multiple differences, yet they are very much alike. Wrestling and BJJ have different origins. For
instance, wrestling originated in the Roman times. It was one of the sports to be played in the modern
Olympics. This sport has been played in the Olympics ever since. Then there is BJJ it started off as
Japanese Jiu Jitsu. A teacher moved from Japan to Brazil and would watch all the matches very
closely. He then modified Jiu Jitsu so it was less relied on strength, rather more on leverage. That was
later called BJJ. Both of the fighting styles have a scoring system that are very similar. In wrestling
and in BJJ a person can score point in many ways. For instance an athlete can score with a takedown,
or by mounting his or her opponent for some points. Also a sweep or passing an opponent s guard will
get the athlete points. They both hold their matches on mats. The mat has different meaning for BJJ
and wrestling. For BJJ the two opponents start in the middle and go from there, but if they go out of
rang the referee does one of two things. He will stop the match and make them go back to the middle,
or if he cannot recreate the same situation in the middle the will just continue. Then there is wrestling
mat. That mat has more detail than a BJJ mat. It has two circles an outer one

  • 2. Summary Of Broken Promises Broken Promises Nebraska was home to many Native Americans, including the Ponca tribe, who took great pride of their homeland. Many people think the Ponca tribe was once a part of the Omaha, Osage, Kansa, and Quaqaw tribe. These five tribes lived in an area east of the Mississippi River. No one knows the exact date of their separation or why they had separated, but it was believed to be as early at 1390, and as late as 1750. The Ponca tribe was never a very large tribe. In 1789 the Ponca was living near the mouth of the Niobrara River. Around this time, the tribe took a fall and had suffered from a smallpox epidemic. When Lewis and Clark had arrived, they only averaged them with 200 people in 1804, but by 1874, they were back up to 733 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the Sioux figured out that they now had a chance to push the Ponca s out of Indian Territory, that s just what they did. They took their crops, horses, and gave many threats towards them. The third most famous war called the Great Sioux war began in 1876. Although the U.S. government had won the war, it still didn t mean they would stop pleasing the Sioux. The U.S. government gave what was left of the Ponca land to the Sioux. The treaty they made with the Ponca s was completely broken. They cheated the Ponca Indians, and they were furious. In January 1877, Edward C. Kemble asked the Ponca s to let him speak during church service. He told them that the government had given their fields and farm to the Sioux for a greater purpose. He also told them that they be getting new virgin lands in Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma). By this time the there only 738 Ponca Indians in the tribe, which meant they were not much of a force to the federal government. On February 2, 1877 the Ponca trail of Tears began. Edward C. Seeing a nation s entire national history in a short time is really difficult for tourists, because the national history is normally over 3000 years like South Korea. However, Seoul has a great benefit in this sense. For instance, Seoul is only 605.28 km2, which makes it one of the smallest cities among the major metropolises in the world, allowing tourists to see most of the national history of South Korea in a single location. In 1225, when Kojong was the king of Koryo dynasty (1213 1259), the Mongol Empire demanded tribute from Koryo, but Goryeo refused ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Additionally, the Mongol s envoy (Chu ku yu) was killed, and this incident became an effective excuse to invade Koryo dynasty. Hence, after the invasion of Koryo by Khitan, the Mongols invaded Koryo in 1231. The Mongol invasions of Korea (1231 1273 AD) consisted of six major campaigns lasting from 1231 to 1259 AD. These invasions were tremendously ruinous and lead to the killing of many civilians throughout the Korean Peninsula. As a result, the peasantry of Koryo suffered much hardship. For instance, the Mongols burned everything such as houses of Koryo people, the ripened grain fields. It caused the shortage of food supplies in Koryo, so the population had to be declined and whole villages fell into ruin ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Moreover, the peasantries and defenders of Koryo were cruelly slaughtered by their conquerors (Mongolians). The most suffering period of Koryo people was when Charadai (the general of Mongol) invade the Korean Peninsula in 1254. On this occasion it is said the corpses of the dead were too many to be counted and the entire region where the Mongols passed was reduced to ashes ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). However, the government on Kanghwa did not protect the poor peasantry of Koryo, while they only protected themselves. This miserable situation of Koryo people not only bred hostility toward their government, but also dampened their desire to fight against the Mongols. This is the resentment of Koryo ... • 25. The Case That Moved America Working Title: The case that moved America Any child denied entry to any school due to their ethnicity is automatically put at a disadvantage compared to other children. This case was originally five different cases in different parts of the United States. These cases were all compounded into one when appealed to the Supreme Court. Brown v. Board is the most historical revolutionary Civil Rights case due to it forever changing the manner in which different races in America interact with each other. Children segregated from other children because of their skin color not only causes them to be more insecure, but it also causes a large knowledge gap between the segregated parties. Children who are separated from others because of their skin color grow to develop their own insecurities and diffidence. After reviewing psychological studies showing black girls in segregated schools had low racial self esteem, the Court concluded that separating children on the basis of race creates dangerous inferiority complexes that may adversely affect black children s ability to learn (PBS). Races being divided by these social barriers create a disparity between them. It is unequal for children of different races to be separated. Equal education is required in order to give all children an equal chance at success and making differences. Public education in the 20th century, said the Court, had become an essential component of a citizen s public life, forming the basis of democratic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Shylock accuses Antonio of spurning him, Antonio replies with call thee so again and spit on thee again . This, is my opinion, justifies the revengeful side of Shylock. Shylock talks down the forfeit of a pound of flesh but Shylock really wants to profit from Antonio s death, as he will be able to charge higher interest rates when Antonio can no longer undercut him. By the end of this scene we find Shylock bitter, greedy and also intelligent, however his eloquent description of Antonio s abusive language and behaviour redresses the balance a little in his favour. His daughter s elopement with a Christian and the theft of his money and jewels also give us pause for thought about our attitude towards him (Act 2 Scene 5). Shylock leaves the house he gives Jessica the responsibility of being in charge of the house. He strictly instructs her to keep the house and goods secure. This is quite ironic as whilst he is gone, she takes his wealth and disguises herself in order to elope with Lorenzo. This isn t surprising as in Act 2 Scene 3, Jessica talk about how unhappy she is living with her father. Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment and Breakfast Cereal For any product to be sold successfully, especially to the mass market, the firm selling the product will need to be marketed with a promotion. Promotion is one of the four elements of the marketing mix, referring to the way in which a product is promoted this is more than just advertising, it includes public relations, endorsement and any activity which will help to increase awareness of the product and support the development of sales (Hooley et al, 2007). Promotional strategies are required in order to create awareness in the potential target market regarding the product, and to help stimulate sales by influencing the decision making process (Kotler and Keller, 2011). In order to demonstrate the application of promotion strategies to different products can be examined, with promotional strategies those products suggested. The two products are exercise equipment and breakfast cereals. Exercise Equipment Designing a commercial strategy to exercise equipment requires the marketer to identify the message that will suitably communicate not only the purpose and function of the product being sold, but why and how it will satisfy needs of the consumer. Kotler and Keller (2011) argue that people do not buy products; they buy the benefits that are provided by the product. Smart phone navigation systems are one of the many ways that they can assist drivers while on the road. GPS navigation has evolved from simple turn by turn navigation, into something more. Bartlett and Spinelli also mention a feature in which drivers can choose whether they want to detour around certain obstructions like car accidents, lane closings, and obstructions of that nature. Averting these types of obstructions gives the driver a much safer route to their destination, as well as eliminates the threat of a possible collision, which tends to occur most frequently in those areas. They state how this simplifies finding those trouble spots, and how it eliminates flicking through various radio stations while trying to get traffic info, especially since the radio tends to focus on the major accidents, and sometimes misses the other obstructions. Bartlett and Spinelli expand upon this, and go into detail on how it works: With a traffic service, the navigation device will receive periodic updates based on your driving path or (if entered) programmed destination. It can provide on screen alerts and even indicate the traffic flow rate. Usually the driver can tap a traffic icon to receive info on how long the delay is, what type of obstruction (accident, construction, lane closing), and then decide whether or not to detour around a trouble spot. • 39. The Message Of Jesus Christ But who do you say that I am? (Mark 8:29). This same question that was asked of Peter and the disciples speaks within the heart of each person we share the Gospel message with. There comes a point, at the crux of our catechesis, where the question, Who is Jesus? needs to be answered. At the heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth. (CT 5). This compelling statement given by Pope John Paul II in his exhortation, Catechesi Tradendae, calls catechists to always remember the purpose of catechesis. They are to help lead others, through loving example and careful communication of doctrine, to meet a real Person, the Person of Jesus Christ and foster a deeper union with the Blessed Trinity. To proclaim the message of Jesus Christ is vital to an organic catechesis. As catechists, it is our vocation to bring others to know of the personal relationship that God is seeking to have with each one of them. A relationship in any facet of the human life requires conversation through both listening and responding. Our catechesis should be no different. As Pope Francis states in Evangelii Gaudium, It is the message capable of responding to the desire for the infinite which abides in every human heart (EG 165). As we actively listen to the word of God, we should be cut to the heart (Acts 2:37) in the same way as those who heard Peter s Pentecost speech as he boldly proclaimed the kerygma. Summary Of The Art Of Failure By Malcolm Gladwell The Art of Failure In the essay, The Art of Failure by Malcolm Gladwell we are given the meanings of choking and panicking while being in a stressful situation. Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the championship; she lost it when choking took over her. As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of what they are doing. The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch, who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode, throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also ... They are Greco Roman Wrestling (wrestling) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). They have multiple differences, yet they are very much alike. Wrestling and BJJ have different origins. For instance, wrestling originated in the Roman times. It was one of the sports to be played in the modern Olympics. This sport has been played in the Olympics ever since. Then there is BJJ it started off as Japanese Jiu Jitsu. A teacher moved from Japan to Brazil and would watch all the matches very closely. He then modified Jiu Jitsu so it was less relied on strength, rather more on leverage. That was later called BJJ. Both of the fighting styles have a scoring system that are very similar. In wrestling and in BJJ a person can score point in many ways. For instance an athlete can score with a takedown, or by mounting his or her opponent for some points. Also a sweep or passing an opponent s guard will get the athlete points. They both hold their matches on mats. The mat has different meaning for BJJ and wrestling.
