Eating Healthy Lifestyle Is Simple
Healthy Lifestyle The reason why I chose to write this essay about healthy lifestyle is simple. I
wanted to learn the benefits, disadvantages and consequences of eating healthy have in our lives.
This is a very significant issue, considering that a very high percentage of the population in the
United States is obese or overweight. It has been proven that several health risks are caused by
being overweight, such as heart diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes. Unfortunately,
thousands of lives are being lost every year because of weight related diseases. Having said that,
I determined to start my research paper asking the following question: Does the pleasure of
freely eating, pays off the price of a healthy life in the future? As I had no deep knowledge in the
subject before starting my research, I decided to familiarize myself a little more by watching a
video on YouTube. On the engine search I typed in: A Doctor s perspective about eating healthy,
and chose Dr. Joel Fuhrman: 3 Steps to incredible health Eating healthy to achieve a great Vital
Life. In my opinion, this was a trustable source because the content was presented by a Board
certified Physician in practice for over twenty years. This documentary focused mainly on
comparing the health of people living in remote areas and cultivates their own food, free of
pesticides and conservatives, with others that mostly eat processed food, without the micronutrients
our body needs. I agree with the documentary, that

Figurative Language In South Of Broad, By Pat Conroy
Being passionate is a characteristic one may hope to never lose. In the excerpt from South of
Broad, the author uses figurative language to develop the central idea. For example, There is a
tastefulness in its gentility that comes from the knowledge that Charleston is a permanent dimple
in the understated skyline, while the rest of us are only visitors (lines 39 41). Here the author uses
imagery to show that as the people come and go, the exquisite town will always be there.
Throughout the excerpt, South of Broad, by Pat Conroy, figurative language is used to develop the
central idea of being able to connect and love something that others find small. The author uses
figurative language to develop the central idea. As read in the text, Charleston

Multiple Birth Research Paper
Pregnancy is a new stage in a woman s life that can involve a number of complexities, which can
affect the mother or baby, or both. Multiple birth is a complexity of pregnancy that is becoming
increasingly more prevalent in today s society. The incidence of multiple birth has a great effect on
the mother and offspring, not only physically but also socially and emotionally. These effects
include emotional instability as a result of child maltreatment, the increased risk of congenital
malformation causing emotional and social problems and a wider social impact on the health care
system.
A multiple birth occurs when a single pregnancy results in more than one foetus. Twins and triplets
are the most common forms of multiples. The rate of multiple ... Show more content on

The incidence of congenital malformations in multiple births is up to 4 times higher than that of
singleton births (Menasinkai Chiniwar, 2013). Corsello and GiuffrГЁ (2012) define congenital
malformations as single or multiple defects of the morphogenesis of organs or body districts
identifiable at birth or during intrauterine life. The whole family and their quality of life are
impacted when a child is born with birth defects, particularly emotionally. Parents of children
with congenital malformations face a unique challenge in adjusting and learning to care for them
appropriately. Post diagnosis of congenital malformation, the parents often go through the typical
stages of grief very similar to if they had lost the child. This is recognized as a part of the process
and it is normal for parents to mourn the loss of what they expected to be a healthy child
(Lemacks, Fowles, Mateus, Thomas, 2013). The parent s emotional and mental health can be
adversely impacted and as a result suffer depression and anxiety, which can have a devastating
effect on the entire family (Song et all., 2012). Siblings and parent s interaction outside the family
can be hugely affected with parents frequently being unable or unwilling to take part in particular
social activities. Grief counseling is shown to help

Analysis Of Watching Food Inc.
Watching Food Inc. movie was a deception and a horrifying experience on what is happening in
the food industry in the U.S. After spending time on some of resources like The U.S. Food and
Drug Administration on food safety, The National Food Processors Association that are in place to
protect farmer s industry and foodconsumers, to find out these agencies like are not protecting
farmers nor are protecting food consumers in the U.S; and to learn about big corporations like
Tyson Foods, Monsanto that are controlling food industryare putting profit ahead of consumer

2. the second failure of the U.S law from the movie is overlooking health of the country by
allowing big corporation to produce cheap processed food. The movie show different case of
health concerns that resulted from eating cheap processed food. From Kevin s case of dying
with E. coli from eating burger and the husband family who have diabetes because of eating
cheap food. Government failed to help the families that were looking apologies and justice from
big corporations. I would think agency like FDA in charge of the safety of domestic food would
assess potential exposure and health risks of cheap processed food before they can be on the
market. However, as we saw in the movie, the lobbyists for the big food corporation can help them
to bring their commodity on the market with or without assessment of the health risk of their
products. Count words: 142
3. Another example of failure of U.S. laws from the movie is the failure to protect animal
welfare. From the movie, it is clearly that the major corporations in meat industry care only about
profit, and not the well being of the animals they are producing. from the example of Tyson foods
in the movie, on how they produce the chickens to grow to four times the size of a normal chicken
in half the time that makes the chicken bones and internal organs weak to Smithfield on what they
do to pork during production process. It is disappointing to see the agency

Gender In Victorianism

Victorianism
Victorianism is the cultural influence orchestrated by the reign of Queen Victoria from the year
1837 to the year 1901. The dominant notions of these times were moralizing, prudish, repressed and
old fashion, as opposed to traditional. The above elements of culture traversed across the English
society to other parts of America, influencing how people dressed and celebrated. The central ideas
of Victorianism emerged during the period of early Victorianism. Significant developments during
this period included science, economics, and social lifestyle. In terms of politics, there was the
introduction of democracy and parliamentary system of governance. This was also the time that the
Anglicanism, through the Church of England stroke a balance with other Catholic communities.
The dominant social values during the period of Victorianism were patriarchal families and well
defined roles of mothers and fathers.
Construction of gender during Victorianism. Prior to the Victorianism period, the roles of men and
women had no specific definition. Victorianism brought a sharp definition of gender roles with
father specializing in specific tasks different from mothers. Formerly, the women and men could
easily work alongside each other. During the onset of Victorianism, many men got into formal
employment that entailed traveling long distances to work in different professions. Men left behind
their wives at home to take care

A Summary of William Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1
Henry IV, Part 1 William Shakespeare is considered the most important playwright of the
European Renaissance, if not the most important of all time. Each character in his collected
works is uniquely defined and highly memorable. In Henry IV, Part I, Shakespeare writes about
the struggle for the control of England during the time of the title king. Everything is in turmoil
following his ascension to the throne and his legacy is in question because of the perceived
personality of his successor to the crown. Not only does he endeavor to maintain his control of
the throne, but also vying are his son Hal who wants to takeover after his father and the rival
Hotspur who wants it for himself but also is representative of an entire faction of people who
want to rebel against Henry IV and do not feel loyal to him. Each of these men believes himself
to be rightfully entitled to become the king and this is a major theme that play out throughout
the play, namely what it means to be worthy of the title King of England; being king is far more
than a matter of luxury and power, it is a burden that only worthy men should be allowed to
undertake. For the current ruler of England, King Henry IV, he believes himself entitled because
of what he was willing to do in order to obtain the throne. The former king, Richard II, was
murdered and his chosen heir passed over by the zealous Henry. This perception of him as a
usurper of the throne spreads out to those who had once supported him. Hotspur

Design Oriented And Patterns Oriented Perspective On An...
Introduction
Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a coherent set of descriptions, covering a regulations oriented,
design oriented and patterns oriented perspective on an enterprise, which provides indicators and
controls that enable the informed governance of the enterprise s evolution and succesd1. In simple
terms, an EA is a conceptual blueprint that defines the structure of an organization in terms of its
operation and interaction among various units within it.
As organizations become larger, operations management become bigger and more cumbersome,
hence the need for an enterprise architecture framework that can describe the underlying
infrastructure, providing the groundwork for the hardware, software, networks and people to work2.
There are a number of enterprise architecture framework in use today with many of them having
similar views and approaches in an attempt to address various needs and concerns of an
organization. Zachman framework for enterprise architecture is one of the major EA framework in
use today and is considered to be one of the pioneers in the ES domain. Zachman EA framework
adopts principles of classical architecture that establish a common vocabulary and set of
perspectives for describing complex enterprise systems2. The Zachman Framework is made up of
six perspectives or views, which are Planner, Owner, Designer, Builder, Subcontractor, and User.
The second dimension of Zachman s Framework deals with the six basic questions: what, how,

Substance Abuse In Nursing Home
Most government controlled homes do not get sufficient funds, so they lack trained workers and
necessary equipment. Still, they get more help and don t prioritize money, which results in better
quality service. Chains and for profit companies use a system of rewards and sanctions for
managers and board of directors, executives must prioritize shareholder value which may
compromise other goals such as quality (Harrington 786). Another issue is that many nursing homes
use antipsychoticdrugs but often times they administer them illegally, harming the patients. It was
found in a recent study that 41% of patients use antipsychotics for a long period of time. The push

The hacktivist group Anonymous has recently terrified many corporations and operations with its
ability to hack, publically humiliate and to release confidential information in the name of freedom
of speech. Although participation is widely dissipated throughout the world and its current power is

Persuasive Speech On Freedom Of Speech
Recently I was reflecting on what our country has come to. Professional athletes kneeling and
disrespecting our flag, in an alleged effort to protest their beliefs, but are protected by their
freedom of speech. Our country split apart by our most recent presidential election, by the verbal
hate people spoke or continue to speak or post on social media, however, are protected by their
freedom of speech. All of the sudden a bigger reality hit home, and restored my faith in America
and humanity. You see on Friday, August 25, 2017, the 2nd Friday after school started, hurricane
Harvey hit my small town of Katy, Texas. My mom, dad, sister, uncle, and myself stayed in our
house during the storm. We lost power in our house for three days. We were the first street to
flood in our subdivision, leaving us trapped and unable to go anywhere, and the last street to
drain, leaving us the last street to get out once the water receded. On the second and third day
we could hear airboat rescues in the front of our neighborhood, as they were literally in our back
yard. When we were finally able to get out of the house and drive to the store for more gas we
passed dozens of houses that had been flooded with 18 inches to 4 feet of water. It was heart
wrenching and devastating. The mountains of sheetrock, cabinets, personal belongings on the side
of the rode on almost every house in our neighborhood was sitting at the curb in total despair. Once
we were able to get out of our neighborhood

Hillside Strangler Case Solution
The Hillside Strangler was the name given to two killers who strangled and killed their victims,
dumping their bodies in the hills of Los Angeles. These killings took place during October 1977
and February 1978, involving ten young women ranging from ages 12 to 28. With over one
hundred law enforcement task force members working to solve this case, the fear within the
community was undeniably present. It wasn t long before the clues would come in one by one,
helping detectives solve this heinous crime. Once two sets of DNA was revealed on the crime
scenes, policerealized they had not just one, but two killers. The killers were later discovered to
be cousins Kenneth Alessio Bianchi and Angelo Anthony Buono. Kenneth Bianchi was born in
Rochester, New York to a prostitute mother and was given up for adoption when he was born.
His upbringing was normal, but he was known to be a pathological liar. He had a fantasy about
joining the police force, but when he applied both in New York and Los Angeles, he was rejected.
In 1975 Bianchi decided to move to Los Angeles to stay with his role model and older cousin
Angelo Buono. He ends up living with Buono, becoming a part of his sexual urges, and
ultimately killing innocent women. Angelo Buono was also born in Rochester, New York to
Italian immigrant parents, and moved to Glendale California when he was five years old. His
interest about sex started at a young age, and as a teenager had claimed to have raped several girls.

Heavy Metal Music In The 1980 s
Some sort of better creative title to be added latter
The late 1960 s brought forth the creation of one of the most interesting types of music that shaped
some people in different ways. That music was called heavy metal. Heavy metal created several
new bands influenced how some people probably dressed, and even made some artist extremely
famous.
Now heavy metal is a term used since the early 1970 s to designate a subgenre of hard rock music
(Walser 1). Even though heavy metal came about in the late 1960 s it was not given the name until
the 1970 s. In the scene of how heavy metal came in to fruition, it came about when British hard
rock bands and the American guitarist Jimi Hendrix developed a more distorted guitar sound and

Because Ozzy Osbourne became one the most popular rock musicians of the 1980 s, this fame
most likely helped the spread to the heavy metal genre. Before Ozzy went out on his own, he

Paranoid ... caught the attention of American record executives and catapulted Osbourne and his
bandmates to world class status ( Ozzy Osbourne 1). Ozzy got his start in heavy metal as part of
a band; this band helped him in his career and on his road to fame. In 1979 Osbourne struck out
on his own. As a solo performer, Osbourne helped to hasten the development of the heavy metal
genre ( Ozzy Osbourne 1). By going out on his own Ozzy helped out the heavy metal music genre
develop even more. During the 1980 s Osbourne was busy developing a personal mythology that
placed him on the gothic fringe of heavy metal ( Ozzy Osbourne 2). Ozzy used his fame to help
expand the field of heavy metal music to go beyond gothic

Analysis Of Johnny Depp, By Edward Scissorhands
Johnny Depp, is one of the most talented physical actors of this age. His unique and often wacky
movements make each of his characters stand out. Most famous for his role as the ridiculous
pirate captain Jack Sparrow, form Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp is also widely known for a
number of other interesting characters in a number of other interesting shows, one of his earliest
being Edward Scissorhands, in Edward Scissorhands (1990). The expansion of Depp s use of
physical movement is tremendous between Edward Scissor hands ad Pirates of the Caribbean. And
though they both differ tremendously in personality and physicality, they still maintain the wacky
persona that is so characteristic of Johnny Depp. First let us analyze whether or not Depp centers
each character. And the answer is that he centers both, but each differently. Edward Scissorhands is
very centered, but definitely not comfortably centered. Although he stands erect, he stands with his
head pulled back and his back very stiff, and his adds to the bizarreness of his strange character.
Who stands like that? No one. It is interesting how just a little abnormality in posture can bring out
abnormality in the entire character. Additionally, the way that Depp centers Edward Scissorhands,
with his head constantly either pull back too far jutted forward in moments of interest add to the
emotions of curiosity and apprehension that are so strong in this character. Depp s second
character, the famous Jack Sparrow, is

Evaluating Pricing And Ensure Adherence Of A Company
As defined by Investopedia, LLC (2016) an initial public offering is the first sale of stock of a
company to the public. When a company makes the decision to move forward with an initial
public offering there are many roles that are involved and rules and regulations that must be
reviewed to ensure risks are evaluated and limited. A decision to go public can have immense
benefits in raising cash and providing liquidity. Having the proper roles evaluate pricing and ensure

The Investment Banker is a critical role in the Initial Public Offering as they manage the process
therefore choosing the Investment Banker can be the determination of performance levels.
The Role of an Originating House and a Syndicate An initial public offering of stock is an
expensive and complicated procedure. Firms considering this option turn to syndicates of
investment bankers to handle the initial sale of the firm s stock. In the case of a large initial
public offering, an originating investment house may decide to form a syndicate of investors to
lessen the financial risk to themselves. This syndicate, or group, of investors will share the reward
and risks of the sale of stock from the issuing firm. The originating house selects other investing
banks or individual investors to make up the syndicate. This syndicate will underwrite the sale of
the stocks, guaranteeing the issuing firm the sale of a mutually agreed upon number of stocks at an
agreed upon price per share. The syndicate now assumes the financial risk of selling the stocks to
the public. The issuing firm has a guarantee of raising the funds they need. The syndicate also
assumes the responsibility for completing and filing all necessary documents with the Securities
and Exchange Commission as well as providing any information required by an individual state or

employee perspective I would be happy if the offer was denied, simply because the culture instilled

Rights Fees in Sport Essay
The steadfast rule when it comes to sports and rights fees is that it s the business of
entertainment. The dollars are going to go where the value is. With Rights fees, networks pay
fees to have the rights to a particular broadcast, for example march madness, the NFL or the
Olympics. Rights fees are determined by the value a certain property holds, this is determined by
the ratings. The most important ratings market world wide is undisputedly the North American,
and in particular the US market as we will later discuss with the Olympic media coverage. With in
the US it is a battle field to increase ratings because of the dollar value associated with the
opportunity to sell advertising and consequently the rights fees. Personally I... Show more content

But as aformentioned the rating speak volumes and while the NBA is very popular in the US,
from a network point of view March Madness, NCAA basketball is a winner. CBS is paying $6.2
billion dollars over a 12 year period to ensure their TV rights. As this is one of basketball s major
properties and wanted by advertisers who are trying to target a very specific demographic.
However, there is a problem with increasing rights fees being paid by networks, funds are not
bottomless. At a certain point the sports industry will plateau and as we are seeing financial
resources are being pulled from sports with lower rating to finance the network s bid for the
highly rated events like the Superbowl. This is also known as a zero sum industry, where one
event/league will benefit while another suffers. The NFL is currently taking in about $550
million/year from 4 different networks respectively. The price tag is not that high because of the
extensive amount of game air time, but because of the perceived value. Networks are teaming up
with their own programming to compliment the short NFL season to bring in more ad spots and
rightly so. The NFL as a league also knows the value of their product and realizes that networks
are still willing to pay these incredible rights fees. After all the networks are already paying twice
as much as their last contracts. However, who suffers in the zero sum game? The worst case or
ratings influencing the general public

Evolution And Contributions Of The Indo-Aryan Family
2.2.3 The Indo Aryan Influence
Following the Dravidians, came in the band of invaders who called themselves Arya(Sinclair,
1884). It was during the 2nd millennium B.C. that these invaders made their way into India via
north western borders of India (Emeneau, 1980)(Zograf, 1982). It is this language family that
hold the highest position in the linguistic landscape of India. The Indo Aryan family is a branch
out of the Indo European language family which made its way into the Indian soil (Zograf,
1982). The Aryan impact of the Aryan heritage can be seen substantially in the current Indian
culture is a result of its invasion which had lasted for about 100 years (Zograf, 1982). It is during
this phase of invasions that the Aryan family had brought into India not a single but rather a
collection of related and different languages and dialect (Zograf, 1982). The beginning of the
Aryan influence had started with the language India considers to be the language of their Hindu
religion and that is the Vedic language (Zograf, 1982). The earliest form of Indian texts in which
the religious poetries were written in was known as the Vedas (Zograf, 1982). Slowly came in the
next phase of literary development and came in the language which is considered to be the root of
all the Indo Aryan languages, Sanskrit (Zograf, 1982). Sanskrit covered the whole of the Indo
Aryan linguistic domain (Zograf, 1982). Then as the middle of the 1st millennium B.C. came the

between 220 and 206 BCE; untold thousands of them died at the task.
This northern fortification formed the first section of what would become the Great Wall of China.
In 214, the Emperor also ordered construction of a canal, the Lingqu, which linked the Yangtze and
Pearl River systems.
The Confucian Purge:
The Warring States Period was dangerous, but the lack of central authority allowed intellectuals to
flourish. Confucianism and a number of other philosophies blossomed prior to China s unification.
However, Qin Shi Huang viewed these schools of thought as threats to his authority, so he ordered

Influence Of Organizational Culture On Corporate Performance
support the proposition that organizational culture is found to be a filter through which leadership
influences various performance outcomes.
Human Resource Management Organizational culture affects corporate performance. Corporate
culture is a deeply embedded form of social control that influences employee decisions and
behavior. Culture is persistent and operates unintentionally. It is an automatic pilot directing
employees in ways that are consistent with organizational expectations. Corporate culture assists
the sense making process. It helps employee understand organizational events. Employee can

Human Resource requires administrator to compare job titles, skill levels together with the culture
of work and remuneration to determine the contributions employees with different jobs and titles
make towards accomplishing company objectives. Human resources management considers internal
consistency when determining pay rates for employees who do the same work and employees who
do different works in accordance with the culture on ground in the organization. The internal
consistency depends on how a company is structures reflect the structure and culture of the
organization. The pay structure of an organization is its range of pay rates for different jobs and
skill levels within the organization (Barney, 1986). Company s culture factors are social customs,
job requirements, employee acceptance, employee knowledge and skills. The social customs of an
organization do not determine wages only but the current notion of federally mandated minimum
which evolve from the employee demanding a just wage which always go with the remuneration
culture of the organization. The organizational culture has a positive relationship with the human
resource management. However, the job requirements factors determines some jobs may require
greater skills, knowledge or experience than others, this will reflect a higher pay rate. Employee

control over resources and commodities for a long time. At first it was kings controlling vast
amounts of land and there were good kings and bad kings, some even allowed peasant farmers a
way to buy their way out servitude though few ever did. Empires have grown and shrank over
millennia and some interesting changes have taken place. Corporations now dominate puppet
governments from behind the scenes and restrict the flow of wealth while siphoning away
resources from poorer countries. While many of us recognize this is going on we re so consumed

The Importance Of Interracial Marriage
History has its fair share in learning to accept different customs and cultural aspects in many
countries. Interracial marriage, for example, was legalized just fifty years ago in the United States
and questioned whether or not the cohesion of two different races through culture is a positive
outcome. Despite the worrisome idea of clashing beliefs, interracial marriagecan open a new
learning experience and bring acceptance amongst mixing cultures, races, and religions.
To start off, the cohesion of different races through marriage have reactions that vary widely
around the world. In the United States, at least one in six newlyweds in 2015 are involved in an
interracial marriage (Holland 2017). Consequently, as interracial marriage arises, some sites such as
https://texasformarriage.org, suggest that these relationships allow for the ability to learn more
about a new culture and to chip away at stereotypes formed by society. With this new learning
curve, people are more open to accept different viewpoints as they learn from their significant
other, especially if they still hold up to many traditions passed on by their family. To add on, as
people begin to learn more about other cultures that surround them, they open up to having a new
perspective about differing cultures and naturally break away from the stereotypes built by society.
Thus, as interracial marriage becomes more common, acceptance of other cultures and cultural
beliefs increases as well.

Teaching Students With Quality Assessments
Introduction Education is a field that is constantly evolving and as teachers it is important that
changes are made to be as effective as possible. Curriculum mapping, planning, and assessment
building have been topics at the forefront of many conversations in the field of education. As
teachers have become smarter about their field, they have made instructional and assessment
changes that benefit students learningneeds. The assessment practices we use in the classroom
should be used to promote student learning (McTighe O Connor, 2005). As educators it is important
that the goals we have are used to support the learning in all students. Providing students with

By giving students pre assessments teachers are able to diagnose students prior knowledge and skill
level, identify student misconceptions, profile learners interests, and reveal learning style
preferences (McTighe O Connor, 2005). With the knowledge gained from this type of assessment,
teachers are better able to make instructional decisions that will decrease negative classroom
behaviors. When students have a active role in the assessment process they perform better. I know
understand that students must take an active roll in the assessment process to benefit from their
learning. As a teacher, if I want students to be successful on assessments I have to include students
in the process.
New Practices I have gained several new practices from this course. Prior to this course my
students used portfolios to track their learning over the semester. In order to give students more
control over the assessment process, I have begun allowing students to choose the assessments to
place in their portfolios. Once this is done, I have asked student reflect on their work and their
learning. Anne Davies (2007) suggests students learn more as they reflect and select evidence of
learning to show others (p.50). By allowing my students to choose the work that goes into their
learning portfolios and reflecting, students are able to use their best work for grading. By trying
this with my current students, I have

Candidiasis And Diabetes
Candidiasis is a disease in which a fungal infection of the mucous membranes is found in the mouth
and throat. The organism may cause infections in other locations, such as nails, skin (diaper rash),
vagina, and the gastrointestinal tract. There are many types of fungus that live in the human body
including candida. Candida is a type of yeast that normally lives in small amounts in areas like your
mouth and belly, or skin without causing any issues. The immune systemand the body s bacteria
usually keep Candida in balance. When this balance is interrupted, it can result in an overgrowth of
the Candida fungus, causing it to get infected. The infection is called Candidiasis. There are several

The Subculture Of Board Game
People have always develop ways to pass time or enjoy their everyday activates. There have been
puzzles, books, and television invented to help with this process. The need to have something to
do has fueled the creation of games. The most popular games today are videogames which have
millions of people logging on each day to play with others. Videogames have created a culture of
their own, but they were not the original type of gaming recreation. Board games have been
bringing their played into fantasy worlds long before the popularization of videogames. This has
spark my interest to understand the subculture of board gameplayers in today s society. I have
selected a local board gaming site to conduct my field research for my ethnographic study. My
primary location or this research will be at Tucson Games and Gadgets where I will try to

Tucson Games and Gadgets was clearly the most viable option to choose after I had visited the

How Is Curley Presented In Of Mice And Men
How far can pettiness push a person? In Of Mice and Men, Curley is early on discovered to be
one of the main antagonist of the story because of his hostile attitude. Curley is simply a bad
egg who forever changes the other characters lives, maybe even for the worst. John Steinbeck
includes the antagonistic character of Curley to serve as a classic bully who shows the petty side
of society. Steinbeck uses both direct and indirect characterization to show that Curley is a
combative type of person. Curley parades his combative nature when he readily pulverizes sweet
Lenny. Curley slashed at Lenny with his left, and then same down on his nose with a right. Lenny
gave a cry of terror. (Steinbeck 63). This establishes that Curley loves to... Show more content on

scraps with big guys. Kind of like he s mad at them because he ain t a big guy. You seen little
guys like that, ain t you? Always scrappy? (Steinbeck 26). Curley is taking something so trivial
as height, and letting it control his feelings. Another example of Curley s pettiness is his
reaction to when his wife died. Slim nodded. We might, he said. If we could keep Curley in, we
might. But Curley s gonna want to shoot him. Curley is still mad about his hand. An s pose they
lock him up an strap him down and put him in a cage. That ain t no good, George. (Steinbeck

think that Curley would be motivated by the murder of his wife to kill Lenny, but to the contrary,
he is largely motivated by his bruised ego from the broken hand incident. Curley is so petty that he

A fundamental advantage of ECS adjustment for effective dynamic thermal storage is that it is
relatively easy to implement. Conventional air conditioning and thermostats are designed to
perform in slow control loops, on time scales of minutes. ECS adjustment can use time scale
separation and stay away from this effective dc loop action. In this sense, an ac feed forward
signal is injected into a drive to adjust power flow on fast time scales, while avoiding interference
on slow time scales. The average performance of the ECS system remains intact, and the fast
adjustment is transparent to users. Fig. 2 displays this implementation control. Bandpass filtered

A few recent papers [53] [56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine (VSM) concept,
particularly for microgrid applications and usually for distributed generators utilizing the same
ac dc ac conversion stages. The same concept applied on flywheel based energy storage is
discussed in [57]. Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled
thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high
level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame,
the d q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the
stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed. On the other hand, the
active front end (i.e., the hex bridge converter connected to the gird) follows (2a b) in d q
reference frame at П‰c rotating speed, where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance,
and vc is the output voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc voltage
bus []. The analogy between (1a b) and (2a b) is straightforward. By equating the first three terms
and varying the modulation indices, md and mq, the active front end mimics the VSM proposed in
[ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor tied inverter (i.e., the left hex bridge converter in Fig. 3)
is to main a constant 270 V dc bus by adjusting the motor speed and torque using conventional
vector controls. Given the limited

change from unhealthy foods to healthy foods. Additionally, living in a home where others are
not on a diet can be challenging. Eating with the familywhen only one individual on a diet is a
challenge to one s will power. I can say for myself that my will power is average. Itis hard
sometimes when my husband is eating a steak dinner or fried spicy hot chicken, my favorite. I will
give in at times. There were situations where I completely gave in, but as I continue to educate

Using Marijuana for Medicinal Purposes
In todays society marijuana is a very controversial topic in America. There has been some horrible
remarks towards cannabis in the past but the truth is finally starting to come out. People think of
marijuana as a substance just to get high with but there are other good outcomes towards cannabis
that can make this world a better place. As a marijuana support I believe marijuana should be used
for all purposes. Using marijuana for medicinal purposes was not recently discovered. According to
riversideonline.com people have been using marijuana for pain relief since the 1800s. In fact, the
THC that is in cannabiscan work well in treating cancer pain as codeine, a mild pain reliever.
The biggest argument people use against marijuana is that they claim it is a gateway drug. People
say people who use marijuana would later use harder drugs such as cocaine, meth, and heroin which
is irrelevant.Just because some people that do harder drugs such as the 3 I named started off with
using marijuana does not mean all people would do the harder drugs. If someone wanted to
experiment with cocaine, meth,or heroin they are going to do it regardless. If anything the gateway
drugs that are leading people to cocaine, meth, or heroin are cigarettes and alcohol. How many
people do you think tried smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer before smoking marijuana.
Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol is much more harmful to the body than consuming
marijuana which is a plant. People call marijuana

Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky
applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors,
physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical
data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and
the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when
pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased;
instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries
to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to
pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of
pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky
(1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only
outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of
women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or
causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety
of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to
represent sexual crimes, as this

Strategic Performance Analysis Of Delta, Southwest, And...
Introduction:
Developing a strategic performance plan for a company is only the first step. The plan must then be
implemented and after a short period of time it must then be evaluated. This evaluation is key in
determining if the strategic plan is not only effective but also efficient. After being presented with
yearly data for the top three competitors, Delta, Southwest, and United Airlines, of the US airline
industry, it was my goal to develop comparative performance metrics to find out how if the
companies strategies are efficient in a financial standpoint. While I calculated all of the required
metrics, only a few stood out to me as useful when evaluating the companies. Some of the key
performance metrics that I computed are revenue per employee, accounts receivable turnover,
current ratio, and return on assets.
Revenue per employee
Revenue per employee is a calculation that allows you see if the company is effectively utilizing
its resources and also what their level of productivity is. Revenue per employee and productivity
share a positive relationship so the higher the output, the better. After calculating each company s
revenue per employee during the fiscal years 2005 to 2012, I calculated the average to make an
overall comparison of the three.
Delta Airlines came out on top with the highest revenue per employee and United Airlines with a
close second. This shows that these three companies are staying relatively competitive with their
productivity.

Comback of Steroids in Sport

Professional sports can put as many limitations on what athletes can take but it will never be
enough. Many athletes will have enough money to overcome these limitations. They may still
get caught with the drugs but they have enough money to control the media so people won t see
what they did. There is only one way to level the playing field. The only way is to make steroids
legal in professional sports. In the article, Why it s Time to Legalize Steroids in Professional
Sports by Chris Smith, he says, Not only would the playing field suddenly be even for all
players, it would be at a higher level. I think that this is exactly true. Legalizing steroids would
make the sports more entertaining. Athletes in the sport will be able to play at a higher level.
Chris Smith also said, It also makes sense for professional sports to allow steroids from a
business standpoint. People will pay more money to watch the upper level athletes perform. If
steroids were legal it would make drug stores more money because more people would be
buying steroids. Not only will the legalization of steroids benefit the sport, it will benefit other

Carl Bernstein And Bob Woodward
Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward were dedicated young reporters at the time Watergate
occurred. There dogged pursuit for the truth kept the story from falling into obscurity.
Woodward was a relatively new reporter at the time, a Yale graduate, and a Navy veteran.
Bernstein dropped out of college and he started working in the newspaper industry at the age of
sixteen. By age nineteen, he was a full time reporter for the Washington Star. Although they were
young, and Woodward had not even been a Post reporter for a year, they were dedicated and
tenacious. Without Bernstein and Woodward s efforts, the entire truth may have never been
revealed. Their actions during the scandal and their subsequent book has helped Americans see
the reality of the Nixon administration. At the beginning of the scandal Bernstein and Woodward

he belonged to the Counterculture, while Woodward had Establishment credentials. 1 They

What many do not seem to realize is that a law enforcement agency is not a job, it is a career. One
must truly be dedicated and determined to work in the field because it is all about your love for
what you are doing.
The type of applicant in which a police department attracts all depends on who they need on their
team to balance things out. For instance, if a department is lacking in female officers they are going
to advertise and reach out to females so that more of them would gain interest in the force. The
recruitment process in general consist of three different elements; the minimum qualifications, the

The minimum qualifications include various aspects. Minimum age level is one of the main

  • 2. Eating Healthy Lifestyle Is Simple Healthy Lifestyle The reason why I chose to write this essay about healthy lifestyle is simple. I wanted to learn the benefits, disadvantages and consequences of eating healthy have in our lives. This is a very significant issue, considering that a very high percentage of the population in the United States is obese or overweight. It has been proven that several health risks are caused by being overweight, such as heart diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes. Unfortunately, thousands of lives are being lost every year because of weight related diseases. Having said that, I determined to start my research paper asking the following question: Does the pleasure of freely eating, pays off the price of a healthy life in the future? As I had no deep knowledge in the subject before starting my research, I decided to familiarize myself a little more by watching a video on YouTube. On the engine search I typed in: A Doctor s perspective about eating healthy, and chose Dr. Joel Fuhrman: 3 Steps to incredible health Eating healthy to achieve a great Vital Life. In my opinion, this was a trustable source because the content was presented by a Board certified Physician in practice for over twenty years. This documentary focused mainly on comparing the health of people living in remote areas and cultivates their own food, free of pesticides and conservatives, with others that mostly eat processed food, without the micronutrients our body needs. I agree with the documentary, that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Figurative Language In South Of Broad, By Pat Conroy Being passionate is a characteristic one may hope to never lose. In the excerpt from South of Broad, the author uses figurative language to develop the central idea. For example, There is a tastefulness in its gentility that comes from the knowledge that Charleston is a permanent dimple in the understated skyline, while the rest of us are only visitors (lines 39 41). Here the author uses imagery to show that as the people come and go, the exquisite town will always be there. Throughout the excerpt, South of Broad, by Pat Conroy, figurative language is used to develop the central idea of being able to connect and love something that others find small. Multiple birth is a complexity of pregnancy that is becoming increasingly more prevalent in today s society. The incidence of multiple birth has a great effect on the mother and offspring, not only physically but also socially and emotionally. These effects include emotional instability as a result of child maltreatment, the increased risk of congenital malformation causing emotional and social problems and a wider social impact on the health care system. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The incidence of congenital malformations in multiple births is up to 4 times higher than that of singleton births (Menasinkai Chiniwar, 2013). Corsello and GiuffrГЁ (2012) define congenital malformations as single or multiple defects of the morphogenesis of organs or body districts identifiable at birth or during intrauterine life. The whole family and their quality of life are impacted when a child is born with birth defects, particularly emotionally. Parents of children with congenital malformations face a unique challenge in adjusting and learning to care for them appropriately. Post diagnosis of congenital malformation, the parents often go through the typical stages of grief very similar to if they had lost the child. This is recognized as a part of the process and it is normal for parents to mourn the loss of what they expected to be a healthy child (Lemacks, Fowles, Mateus, Thomas, 2013). The parent s emotional and mental health can be adversely impacted and as a result suffer depression and anxiety, which can have a devastating effect on the entire family (Song et all., 2012). Siblings and parent s interaction outside the family can be hugely affected with parents frequently being unable or unwilling to take part in particular social activities. • 5. Analysis Of Watching Food Inc. Watching Food Inc. movie was a deception and a horrifying experience on what is happening in the food industry in the U.S. After spending time on some of resources like The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on food safety, The National Food Processors Association that are in place to protect farmer s industry and foodconsumers, to find out these agencies like are not protecting farmers nor are protecting food consumers in the U.S; and to learn about big corporations like Tyson Foods, Monsanto that are controlling food industryare putting profit ahead of consumer health, the lives of American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. The examples failures of U.S. laws including granting patent right of seed to Monsanto,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Count words: 202 2. the second failure of the U.S law from the movie is overlooking health of the country by allowing big corporation to produce cheap processed food. The movie show different case of health concerns that resulted from eating cheap processed food. From Kevin s case of dying with E. coli from eating burger and the husband family who have diabetes because of eating cheap food. Government failed to help the families that were looking apologies and justice from big corporations. I would think agency like FDA in charge of the safety of domestic food would assess potential exposure and health risks of cheap processed food before they can be on the market. However, as we saw in the movie, the lobbyists for the big food corporation can help them to bring their commodity on the market with or without assessment of the health risk of their products. Count words: 142 3. Another example of failure of U.S. laws from the movie is the failure to protect animal welfare. From the movie, it is clearly that the major corporations in meat industry care only about profit, and not the well being of the animals they are producing. from the example of Tyson foods in the movie, on how they produce the chickens to grow to four times the size of a normal chicken in half the time that makes the chicken bones and internal organs weak to Smithfield on what they do to pork during production process. A Summary of William Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1 Henry IV, Part 1 William Shakespeare is considered the most important playwright of the European Renaissance, if not the most important of all time. Each character in his collected works is uniquely defined and highly memorable. In Henry IV, Part I, Shakespeare writes about the struggle for the control of England during the time of the title king. Not only does he endeavor to maintain his control of the throne, but also vying are his son Hal who wants to takeover after his father and the rival Hotspur who wants it for himself but also is representative of an entire faction of people who want to rebel against Henry IV and do not feel loyal to him. Each of these men believes himself to be rightfully entitled to become the king and this is a major theme that play out throughout the play, namely what it means to be worthy of the title King of England; being king is far more than a matter of luxury and power, it is a burden that only worthy men should be allowed to undertake. For the current ruler of England, King Henry IV, he believes himself entitled because of what he was willing to do in order to obtain the throne. The former king, Richard II, was murdered and his chosen heir passed over by the zealous Henry. This perception of him as a usurper of the throne spreads out to those who had once supported him. • 11. Persuasive Speech On Freedom Of Speech Recently I was reflecting on what our country has come to. Our country split apart by our most recent presidential election, by the verbal hate people spoke or continue to speak or post on social media, however, are protected by their freedom of speech. All of the sudden a bigger reality hit home, and restored my faith in America and humanity. You see on Friday, August 25, 2017, the 2nd Friday after school started, hurricane Harvey hit my small town of Katy, Texas. My mom, dad, sister, uncle, and myself stayed in our house during the storm. We lost power in our house for three days. We were the first street to flood in our subdivision, leaving us trapped and unable to go anywhere, and the last street to drain, leaving us the last street to get out once the water receded. On the second and third day we could hear airboat rescues in the front of our neighborhood, as they were literally in our back yard. When we were finally able to get out of the house and drive to the store for more gas we passed dozens of houses that had been flooded with 18 inches to 4 feet of water. It was heart wrenching and devastating. The mountains of sheetrock, cabinets, personal belongings on the side of the rode on almost every house in our neighborhood was sitting at the curb in total despair. A few recent papers [53] [56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine (VSM) concept, particularly for microgrid applications and usually for distributed generators utilizing the same ac dc ac conversion stages. The same concept applied on flywheel based energy storage is discussed in [57]. Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame, the d q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed. On the other hand, the active front end (i.e., the hex bridge converter connected to the gird) follows (2a b) in d q reference frame at П‰c rotating speed, where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance, and vc is the output voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc voltage bus []. The analogy between (1a b) and (2a b) is straightforward. By equating the first three terms and varying the modulation indices, md and mq, the active front end mimics the VSM proposed in [ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor tied inverter (i.e., the left hex bridge converter in Fig. 3) is to main a constant 270 V dc bus by adjusting the motor speed and torque using conventional vector controls. Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan University of Phoenix Leading a nutritious and healthy lifestyle with the incorporation of exercise is the path I am currently walking on and will continue to follow in my later years. Following the healthy eating plan I currently put myself on is a step in the right direction and the many steps that will follow will be the guide to a continuous nutritional lifestyle. I am currently living with relapsing remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is an autoimmune disease that causes demyelination. Demyelination occurs when there is loss of the myelin sheath that insulates the cells in the central nervous system. (Gutierrez, 2009) When an attack occurs unpredictably, it can last a... One has to follow successfully aself planned diet, especially when there is a drastic change from unhealthy foods to healthy foods. Additionally, living in a home where others are not on a diet can be challenging. Eating with the familywhen only one individual on a diet is a challenge to one s will power. I can say for myself that my will power is average. Itis hard sometimes when my husband is eating a steak dinner or fried spicy hot chicken, my favorite. I will give in at times. There were situations where I completely gave in, but as I continue to educate myself, I have come to realize that sometimes cheating is not worth because it eventually catches up to one s health in a not so good way. My approach to avoid having to deal with giving into temptation is to eat before the rest of the family doesor to eat before I leave work. That way I am not eating late nor will I be hungry by the time I come home. Another challenge I may come across is if the Multiple Sclerosis becomes aggressivein my later years where a work out regimen may not be an option. Therapy and medication would have to be the option to handle the condition if it worsens. Depending on how bad the condition is, I may be able to incorporate some kind of exercise whether it is just walking or picking up some weights. At least there will be some kind of physical activity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Using Marijuana for Medicinal Purposes In todays society marijuana is a very controversial topic in America. There has been some horrible remarks towards cannabis in the past but the truth is finally starting to come out. People think of marijuana as a substance just to get high with but there are other good outcomes towards cannabis that can make this world a better place. As a marijuana support I believe marijuana should be used for all purposes. Using marijuana for medicinal purposes was not recently discovered. According to riversideonline.com people have been using marijuana for pain relief since the 1800s. In fact, the THC that is in cannabiscan work well in treating cancer pain as codeine, a mild pain reliever. The biggest argument people use against marijuana is that they claim it is a gateway drug. People say people who use marijuana would later use harder drugs such as cocaine, meth, and heroin which is irrelevant.Just because some people that do harder drugs such as the 3 I named started off with using marijuana does not mean all people would do the harder drugs. If someone wanted to experiment with cocaine, meth,or heroin they are going to do it regardless. If anything the gateway drugs that are leading people to cocaine, meth, or heroin are cigarettes and alcohol. How many people do you think tried smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer before smoking marijuana. Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol is much more harmful to the body than consuming marijuana which is a plant. People call marijuana ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a period that saw major discussions in all aspects of the phenomenon from terminology, definitions, the level of sexual content, the economic impact, and most importantly its effects. Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors, physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased; instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky (1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to represent sexual crimes, as this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Strategic Performance Analysis Of Delta, Southwest, And... Introduction: Developing a strategic performance plan for a company is only the first step. The plan must then be implemented and after a short period of time it must then be evaluated. This evaluation is key in determining if the strategic plan is not only effective but also efficient. After being presented with yearly data for the top three competitors, Delta, Southwest, and United Airlines, of the US airline industry, it was my goal to develop comparative performance metrics to find out how if the companies strategies are efficient in a financial standpoint. While I calculated all of the required metrics, only a few stood out to me as useful when evaluating the companies. Some of the key performance metrics that I computed are revenue per employee, accounts receivable turnover, current ratio, and return on assets. Revenue per employee Revenue per employee is a calculation that allows you see if the company is effectively utilizing its resources and also what their level of productivity is. Revenue per employee and productivity share a positive relationship so the higher the output, the better. After calculating each company s revenue per employee during the fiscal years 2005 to 2012, I calculated the average to make an overall comparison of the three. Delta Airlines came out on top with the highest revenue per employee and United Airlines with a close second. This shows that these three companies are staying relatively competitive with their productivity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Professional sports can put as many limitations on what athletes can take but it will never be enough. Many athletes will have enough money to overcome these limitations. They may still get caught with the drugs but they have enough money to control the media so people won t see what they did. There is only one way to level the playing field. The only way is to make steroids legal in professional sports. In the article, Why it s Time to Legalize Steroids in Professional Sports by Chris Smith, he says, Not only would the playing field suddenly be even for all players, it would be at a higher level. I think that this is exactly true. Legalizing steroids would make the sports more entertaining. Athletes in the sport will be able to play at a higher level. Chris Smith also said, It also makes sense for professional sports to allow steroids from a business standpoint. People will pay more money to watch the upper level athletes perform. If steroids were legal it would make drug stores more money because more people would be buying steroids. Not only will the legalization of steroids benefit the sport, it will benefit other businesses as well. Athletes will have a choice of if they want to do steroids or not. There dogged pursuit for the truth kept the story from falling into obscurity. Woodward was a relatively new reporter at the time, a Yale graduate, and a Navy veteran. Bernstein dropped out of college and he started working in the newspaper industry at the age of sixteen. By age nineteen, he was a full time reporter for the Washington Star. Although they were young, and Woodward had not even been a Post reporter for a year, they were dedicated and tenacious. Without Bernstein and Woodward s efforts, the entire truth may have never been revealed. Their actions during the scandal and their subsequent book has helped Americans see the reality of the Nixon administration. At the beginning of the scandal Bernstein and Woodward were 28 and 29, respectively. Bernstein and Woodward were not partners. Bernstein looked as if he belonged to the Counterculture, while Woodward had Establishment credentials. 1 They appeared to be complete opposites and did not get along very well, but over the course of their investigations, they realized they could work well together. They became involved in the Watergate investigation when they received a call. The call came from Alfred E. Lewis, a veteran of the police force, who moonlighted as an informant for the Post. What many do not seem to realize is that a law enforcement agency is not a job, it is a career. One must truly be dedicated and determined to work in the field because it is all about your love for what you are doing. The type of applicant in which a police department attracts all depends on who they need on their team to balance things out. For instance, if a department is lacking in female officers they are going to advertise and reach out to females so that more of them would gain interest in the force. The recruitment process in general consist of three different elements; the minimum qualifications, the recruitment effort, and the applicant s decision to apply for a position. The minimum qualifications include various aspects. Minimum age level is one of the main qualifications. Each department have their own set of rules and regulations but for the most part all departments have a standard age requirement which is no younger than 21 and no older than 35. Experts were not sure if 21 was a good age requirement because they could not tell whether one at such a young age could handle the task and whether if they were mature enough to do the job effectively and efficiently.
