Racism in Divine Wind by Gary Disher Essay
Today I want to address the issues of the novel Divine Wind authored by Gary Disher.
Throughout the novel many problems occur. Some of the main problems are racial and equality
issues. Events in this book show how prejudice and intolerance can ruin numerous friendships and
change lives.
When WWII was declared in Broome, Western Australia1939 to 1945 Japan became Australia s
enemy, Asia is approximately 3,862 miles away from the coast of Broome, due to this, people
from Asia that country looking for an escape would easily get on a boat an sail to the tip, Broome
then suddenly exposed to more people who are different from the norm.

Australia in this time was quite defensive about whom they trusted. Even Japanese Australians, they
had an issue towards them simply because the higher authorities thought they would turn on them.
Disher tries to imply his view that loyalty within the authorities was at high demand and this
portrays the distrust they held against anyone who questioned them. The judgment against the
aboriginal and Japanese people increased during the war period. An example for this would be the
name calling by the locals at the Penrose family even though they stayed loyal towards each other
and their friends.
ABORIGINAL RACISM
In the chapter Desired earth there was a discussion between Morrissey who is a military
commander, Lester Webb, Carl and Alice who takes care of derby whom is aboriginal.
The abos are going to be a liability if the japs land Morrissey to Carl
And if the abos cause trouble we can shoot them, no questions asked Lester to Alice
They all had a discussion about the foreign people and how they would turn against Australian
people, all three men made harsh statements while Alice stood up for what she believed. They as in
aboriginal and Japanese people are not bad.
JAPANESE INTERNMENT (concentration camps for Japanese people)
During WWII and around that time period things got pretty heated towards different races, Chinese
taxi drivers were bashed and when they would be selling their goods at markets to get money to
even survive they would

Mary s Grandmother Research Paper
Throughout Luke s Gospel the importance of women is stressed, and of these women, Mary, the
mother of God, is the most important and highly acclaimed. Although Mary is the most highly
acclaimed we often misinterpret our understanding of her. In order to gain a more detailed and
descriptive understanding of the mother of Godwe must investigate the four Marian Dogmas that
are associated with her. Not only will an investigation of Mary s Divine Motherhood, Perpetual
Virginity, Immaculate Conception, and Assumption serve to further our understanding of her, but
it will also help us realize the indispensable need for Mariology. The first dogma of Mary is her
Divine Motherhood which is basical the principle that she and only she is the mother of

Childhood In Trevor s Crowd
Slightly before World War II, Adolf Hitler rose to power by promising great things for the
German people. He also had a quite public hatred of Jewish people, which was ignored because
of the other things he promised. This is an example of people blindly following a leader. It is a
theme that is occasionally repeated in books. Greene Graham shows a group of kids following a
leader who demands radical changes and alterations. Graham warns the reader about how a
crowd of people will follow orders from a fierce leader blindly. Trevor is an idealistic,
emotionally unstable child. The term child is used loosely, as Trevor s age is never directly
stated. Trevor acts like a teenager would when he is first introduced, being very grim and dour.
Trevor gave Mike a dark gaze (1) when Mike laughed at Trevor s overly fancy name. Trevor acts
tough when he is introduced to build some admiration for himself by others and for people to be
intimidated by him. Trevor immediately assumes that the gang he got accepted into is for tough ,
or intimidating people. This is why he first rarely talks and has a brooding silence that all
recognized (1). His brooding silence fits with his tough guy persona. Trevor is disappointed in how
the gang reacts to situations, like when Old Misery handed the gang... Show more content on

Cultural Issues In The Graduate Movie
During the 1960 s, the film industry was in a downward spiral, facing extinction. In the early 60
s, studios were producing less than half as many films per year compared to the films produced
in the previous decades. As more esteemed directors retired, there was a decline in artistic
development while several studios struggled financially due to their ill advised production
budgets. It was not until the late 1960 s that a promising Broadway director by the name of Mike
Nichols, would go on to create what would be known as a box office champion of the decade
(Text 230), proving that filmwas not yet dead. The Graduate, released in 1967, is a cinematic
masterpiece directed by Mike Nichols starring off Broadway actor, Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman
plays a 21 year old college graduate by the name of Benjamin (Ben) Braddock, who like most
recent college graduates, is anxious about the uncertainty of his future. He would never have
imagined that he would be seduced and later involved in an affair with Mrs. Robinson, a long time
family friend who is twice his age. The ingenious folk rock... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the 60s a major strife that our country faced dealt with our involvement in the Vietnam
war. On college campuses across the country, students protested the war (Text 232) and were more
politically active. In the film, Elain returns to school at the University of California, Berkley (UC
Berkley) after she finds out about the affair between her mother, Mrs. Robinson, and Benjamin. A
devastated Ben drives out to the UC Berkley in hopes to see Elaine. As he waits on campus, there
is powerful extreme wide shot of Benjamin, the American flag, and the university. In the 1960s, UC

relationship between the two variables. To apply the Coefficient of Correlation (r) formula:
Correlation coefficient = 0.9(Solved by Excel) When r is close to 1, which proves it is a positive
correlation, so there is a direct relationship can be seen between the number of pages viewed and
the amount spent , and the value of 0.9 is rather close to 1.00, so it can be concluded that the

The Hungry Tide, By Amitav Ghosh
Nature cannot be separated from humanity. This may seem obvious as humans are a part of the
natural world, but too many times people often overlook this fact of their existence. Most likely this
is a result of movements such as the Industrial Revolution which has brought man from the natural
environment to an artificial environment. In the beginning, and even now, this has been seen as a
luxury and a testimony to the power of mankind. It seems as if man has outsmarted nature.
However, we are only now beginning to see the true effects of this seeming victory, as climate
change becomes a more threatening and inescapable force. In the novel The Hungry Tide, author,
Amitav Ghosh, uses a cross between narration and environmentalism as a... Show more content on

In this description, the sun and tide become personified in the active voice. This is not true
personification because Ghosh still uses the pronoun it to describe both of the natural elements.
However, the use of the active voice creates a sense of personification because it gives a feeling
of action to objects we do not normally think to act. By doing this, the author forces the reader to
acknowledge that all of nature is alive and active in somewhat similar ways as humans. Even the
nature of objects like the sun and a river are alive despite their lack of biology. Their life does not
come from cells but from the movement and patterns of their cycles, like the cycle of the sunrise in
the morning and the sunset in the evening.
The difference between the life of nature and the life of human beings, and other biological
creatures exist in time. Compared to the lifespan of the natural world, humanity s lifespan as a
whole is a tiny speck. Nature existed before humanity and can go on existing even after the end of
humanity. In an article on climate change, written by Chakrabrty, he uses the words finitude of
humanity to describe this possibility of nature living on without humans. This possibility is ever
increasing as climate change continues to threaten human s very existence by

Gender Roles In Why Women Smile By Paul Theroux
Gender roles perceived through societal pressures are revealed and examined in the articles Why
Women Smile, by Amy Cunningham and Being a Man, written by Paul Theroux. Cunningham
conveys her view on the smile often seen on women and describes how it can veil several other
emotions due to gender roles and stereotypes. On the other hand, Theroux explains his stance on the
meaning behind Being a Manand how it constraints men to an emotionally damaging set of
characteristics and expectations. Although Cunningham and Theroux voice their opinion on either
gender, their responses are similar as they describe the effect the strong relationship between
society and gender roles has on an individual.
In the article, Why Women Smile, Cunningham conveys how she believes smiles to be, not the
small and innocuous things they appear to be... (172). Cunningham analyzes the various reasonings
behind the smiling women throughout our history and the world. For example, she reports that the
Japanese smile is often conveyed to hide sadness. This smile was often expressed in their history if
a wife s husband was a samurai who died in battle. She notes that, Women are expected to smile no
matter where they line up on the social, cultural, or economic ladder (174). Cunningham goes into
further detail on the trademarked American smile. She discovers that social pressures on women to
continually smile began with the advertising of smiling females. Eventually, this lead the smiling

The rhythm section consists of the piano by Paul Mertz, drums by Tommy Gargano, and banjo by
Howdy Quicksell. Throughout the piece, the cornet, which is accompanied by the clarinet, plays
the main tune as the trombone and piano keep the tempo like a bass. The piano plays the chords as
the trombone plays consistent quarter notes which helps the whole ensemble keep time. The
Davenport Blues introduction begins sounding somewhat homophonic. It sounded homophonic
because the cornet and clarinet begin by playing the same melody but at different pitches. The
melody in the intro sounds a little broken up and unorganized. But then we begin to hear the verses
becoming somewhat reminiscent of the New Orleans style, which is known for its collective
improvisation and polyphony. Polyphony is clearly heard in the three different melodies played
simultaneously by the cornet, clarinet, and trombone in the Davenport Blues verses. The
instruments in the Davenport Blues generally have the same interactions that a New Orleans
ensemble would have. The cornet, for instance, plays the melody while the clarinet plays a
countermelody drawn from the underlying chord progression. The trombone fills out the ensemble
with another countermelody, but plays fewer notes than the clarinet. Finally, the rhythm section
provides a steady pulse and lays down the harmonies for each measure. The instrumentation is also
typical of a New

Abandoned Husband Spouse Analysis
Meaning of Absent Spouse The provisions of this article are of American origin, and must be
construed in the light of American Jurisprudence. An identical provision (except for the period)
exists in the California civil code (section 61); California jurisprudence should, therefore, prove
enlightening. It has been held in that jurisdiction that, as respects the validity of a husbands
subsequent marriage, a presumption as to the death of his first wifecannot be predicated upon an
absence resulting from his leaving or deserting her, as it is his duty to keep her advised as to his
whereabouts. The spouse who has been left or deserted is the one who is considered as the
spouse present ; such spouse is not required to ascertain the whereabouts of the deserting spouse,
and after the required number of years of absence of the latter, the former may validly remarry.
It is the duty of the spouse who has deserted to keep the abandoned spouse posted as to his
whereabouts. It is therefore the subsequent marriage of the abandoned spouse that falls under the
class of voidable marriages, and not the re marriage of the deserting spouse, after the period of
seven years has lapsed. A wife who was residing with her husband in a foreign country and there
deserted him and went to live with her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

United States Power Politics
The history of the United States is short but complex. A young nation, the United States has already
become a major power in the world theatre. Risen from humble colony, to independent nation, and
finally a world leader, in little more than three hundred years. Many believe that the young nations
isolation and independence have shaped it polices toward other nations. The United States
following years of isolationist policy entered the world stage in force under the leadership of two
powerful figures in United States history President Roosevelt and President Wilson. These
Presidents held strong views of the relationship that the United States should have in the world s

to the United States. He sought to flex the international powers of the United States. Roosevelt
invoked the Monroe Doctrine as a means of influencing the Western Hemisphere; for instance,
claiming that the Monroe Doctrine demanded that the United States act as an international police
in instants of flagrant cases of wrongdoing. (Kissinger 1994, 39) Validated, Roosevelt and the
United States began influencing their international neighbors in Central American and the
Bahamas. In 1902 Haiti paid its debts to European banks after pressure from the United States. In
1903, the United States incited a revolt in Panama that resulted in Panama s independence and
sovereignty of the land that would become the Panama Canal. Roosevelt states in his
Congressional address, More and more, the increasing interdependence and complexity of
international political and economic relations render it incumbent on all civilized and orderly

Similarities Between Jeddrich And Gatsby
Jedediah Leland is referred to as Charles Kane s closest friend, I believe the same can be said of
Nick s relationship to Gatsby. Perhaps, in the latter s instance, not so much a friend but rather
an exceptionally close acquaintance. Nick and Leland share a few similarities, their close
connection to Gatsby and Kane respectively as well as their clear admiration and endearment
towards them. They both hold high standards for these men and are disappointed when they
realize that they are capable of human error. Jedediah and Nick are similar however, they are
more different than alike. Leland is disillusioned with Kane and eventually gives up on him.
Clearly when he sent Kane the Declaration of Principles it was as a symbol of Jedediah breaking
up with him, their friendship, their partnership, their trust. Nick, however, seems to waver at
times, but ultimately only go up on the gay for Gatsby spectrum. When Gatsby finally admits
the truth about Oxford, how he hasn t technically lied, he s just extended the truth a bit, Nick isn
t faced as he can say is he wanted to congratulate him and how he experienced a renewal of
complete faith in him which he had experienced before (Page 129). Both Leland and Nick have
significant roles in the lives of Kane and Gatsby respectively, however they are very different from
one another, perhaps this is because Kane and Gatsby too are very distinct characters. Leland starts

John D. Rockefeller, at his peak was said to have had a total net worth of around $341 billion in
USD today. Rockefeller was at the head of Americas first monopoly. His oil company, Standard
Oil, controlled 90% of the entire US oil industry. Rockefeller believed that he was doing the right
thing, but others did not perceive him the same way. John D. Rockefeller was indeed a robber baron.
Rockefeller was a robber baron because the ways in which he acquired his vast wealth was done so
unethically. First, he bought out all of the other competing oil companies so Standard Oil could have
control over the entire market. This was not good because now Standard Oil was able to set the
new standards for the market, including quality of the product and price. Critics accused
Rockefeller of engaging in unethical practices, such as predatory pricing and colluding with
railroads to eliminate his competitors, in order to gain a monopoly in the industry(History.com,

Some people view a hero as a man that saves a child from a burning building, or a man that stops

being a self sacrificing, determined, and a brave ordinary person.
Ever seen a hero sacrifice himself for others, if so this is probably a hero like John roberts who

shows just that. Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and Prince look a like 1st Lieutenant
John Robert Fox was directing artillery fire in the Italian town of Sommocolonia to stall a
German advance. While Fox was directing fire, a large German force moved in on his
position.Realising that this force was a huge threat to his men, Fox called a final artillery strike
on himself. When his men eventually retook the position, Fox s body was found next to
approximately 100 dead German troops and a medal was placed neatly on his chest. This is truly
moving who knows if he didn t sacrifice himself it could have turned the tide for WW2.

Marxist Criticism Of Snow White
After a few attempts on Snow White s life, the Queen finally succeeds in her plans and Snow
White falls down on the floor on the third trial of the queen. The last and most successful trick is
giving Snow White a poisonous but beautiful apple. It reminds the story of Adam and Eve in Bible
and other books of Abrahamic religions, where the woman is again portrayed as an evil creature,
beneath the man. In this story of religion, Adam and Eveare the ancestors of human beings who
were placed to live in Heaven by God. They are guarded by angels in the garden of Heaven. They
are clearly ordered not to touch the apple tree there. However, the Satan tempts Eve to eat an apple
from this tree, which depicts that she is the most vulnerable one in the couple to be fooled by
Satan. Then she goes on to tempt Adam and corrupt him the same way Satan did to her. When
Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit, they are banished from Heaven and sent to Earth as a... Show

Patriarchal society is a place where women are dehumanized, thus considered as commodities.
The context of Snow White also set in a class system. The evil mother is the monarch (the King
is absent in the story, but it is assumed that he exists), making Snow White a princess. It is not a
coincidence that the two most beautiful or fairest women in the text come from royalty. Snow
White does not betray to her royal ties, getting married to a prince in the end of the story. It is
true that when Snow White and the Queen fall apart, Snow White temporarily lives like a lower
class person. However, her royal ties are still there. This temporary period is when she is most
treated like a commodity, as a lower class person or a blue collar worker would be in the hands of
a monarch or an employer. In the end of the story, she gets married to the prince, thus assumes her
royalty back. It is then, her turn to control the fate of her

Mortgage Options Analysis
Mortgage Options Analysis
Abstract
You decided to buy a house in Amherst valued at $250,000 and need to borrow the entire amount to
finance your house. After shopping around for a mortgage loan, you found that the following two
deals from the Mortgage One Company are very attractive:
Option 1: A 15 year fixed rate mortgagewith no point and an APR of 5%, compounded monthly.
Option 2: A 15 year fixed rate mortgage with two points and an APR of 4.5%, compounded monthly.
The closing costs (not including the points) for the two loans are identical.
According to the law, the interests on your mortgage payments are tax deductible. In fact, at the
end of each year, your lender will simply add up your 12 month interest payments (without ... Show

These annual amounts I used to calculate annual tax savings by multiplying annual interest
amount by tax rate. In order to be able to compare the amounts received in different years, I found
present values of each cash flow. I added up the PVs of tax savings for every year to get total tax
savings (all 15 years for option 1 and first 5 years for option 2).
For option 2 I calculated the savings I receive from reduced payment. For that I used difference
between the mortgage payments as annuity payment for 180 months for Question A and for 60
months for Question B
For option 2 I also calculated the tax savings from points by multiplying amount paid for points by
tax rate. Since the tax savings occurred in the end of the year I discounted that amount for 1 year.
For option with refinance, I completed similar calculations as in options 1 and 2. However, for
the first 5 years the payment was as in option 1. Then, I calculated new payment for years 11 15 by
using ending balance after 60 months as new loan amount; I used APR of 4.25% compounded
monthly. Then, I found present values of tax savings. In this case, present time is after 60 month in
house. When

Tony Sopranos And The Italian Mafia
In popular American culture, the Italian Mafia has always been portrayed through romantic lenses.
Almost as if mirroring the sentiments of the audience, Henry Hill in the movie The Goodfellas
tells the viewers, As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. (Scorcese) The
quintessential mafiamovie, The Godfather, was made over forty years ago, yet Michael Corleone
stays at the forefront of popular American icons. What s not to love about a no nonsense tough guy,
willing to go to any length, however fantastical or illegal, to protect both his immediate family and
his adopted family in the crime network? Almost as if blatantly ignoring the extremely violent
connotations that go with the group, American culture has highly... Show more content on

He is the archetypal anti hero:
While Tony does plenty of terrible things throughout the course of the series, including murder. . .
the audience can sympathize with him, partly due to the deep looks into the psyche the Melfi

Tony s mind, we discover more about ourselves. (Beale 18)
In a time in America when depression and therapy is so prevalent, may be its comforting to
know that someone as strong as Tony Soprano struggles with the same thing. If he is not
immune, no one is. Most people can accept the justification of decisions made, devoid of moral
and ethical thought, because we feel for Tony. We want him to succeed and for his family to be
safe. More than just the content of the story has contributed to the show s success. The mode of
distribution was imperative in the popularity of The Sopranos. Television allowed the creators to
explore the depths of the mind of a gangster like never before. The gangster story is no longer a
simple morality play because it is cinematic television of a hybrid genre, it is a complex series
with many factors at play. (Beale 18) Could the raw emotion of Tony Soprano after murdering his
beloved nephew be felt any other way? The intricacies of the situation could not have been properly
absorbed through any other medium, just like most of the morally ambiguous dilemmas Tony

Challenges Of Homelessness In The United States Today
Challenges of being Homeless
Homelessness is a very big issue in the United States today. Homeless people are living on dirty
streets, crowded sidewalks, under bridges, on benches, in tents, and many more grimy places.
These places are not fit for any person to live in and still these people call it their home . Through
freezing winters and blazing hot summers, homeless people seem to face it all. The conditions the
homeless face are brutal because they spend days in the blazing heat, months in the freezing cold,
and years in their filthy home .
Days in the Heat

Jam packed camps could easily be a widespread field of diseases and illnesses, especially in the
cold season where everyone seems to catch a disease or illness. Scoggins said the living
conditions in the unsanctioned homeless camp are tragic and unsanitary. (Q13 Fox)(6). Many
homeless people spend years living in homeless camps and with not much money going into
those camps, the living conditions of those camps are not always that clean. While many people
are living in clean and elegant homes, the homeless are living in places no human would ever
dream of living in and yet homeless people are living in those places not only for days, but for
months or maybe even years just to survive in the world. Therefore, while living in their home , the

plants either for decoration or as part of their gardens. This is important because it shows that
many people are conscious of the water crisis we are currently experiencing in Los Angeles by
having cacti as their choice of plant. Also, many hospitals in the area highlighted seem to use the
same flora like the Bird of Paradise flower. Therefore, by gathering data we are not only helping
researchers fulfill their projects but actively getting individuals to learn more about their

Analysis Of 12 OClock High
The movie 12 O clock High was filmed and produced in 1949 directly after World War Two. This
was a critical moment in American history simply because this was the first time that America was
the greatest power globally. Due to this rise in international responsibility from power, patriotism
soared in the United States. Culturally films like 12 O clock High were produced highlighting
important roles that were played in the defeat of the Axis powers during World War Two. On a
more extensive note, the film displays what leadershipinfluence tactics can be used to drastically
turn a unit around during a time of war. This unit, part of the American Army Air Force, is known
as the 918th Bomber Group located in England, during the year of 1942. At the beginning of the
film, Col. Davenport was the Air Commanding Officerwith Lt. Col. Gately as the Air Executive
Officer. However, General Savage had to step in and relieve Col. Davenport of command after
several major battle losses cause morale to fall to an all time low. Additionally, Lt. Col. Gately is
also relieved of command as Air Executive Officer and placed as an aircraft commander due to
his inability to fly missions and be a part of the team effort . This is the major turning point in the
movie as from this point forward the 918th Bomber Group eventually becomes a brutal fighting
force with the help Major Stovall who is the administrator for the Air Commanding Officer. This
paper will discuss the interactional framework:

Taking a Look at Emerging Churches
Before plodding full steam ahead, it would behoove us to pin down some important definitions and
qualifiers. First the term emerging church. In 2006, at a lecture at Westminster Seminary, Scot
McKnight proffered that, there is no emerging church ...it is a movement, or a conversation. This
statement, now nearly a decade old was made in an attempt to clarify to his audience that emerging
/emergent в‰ denomination . This clarified distinction still stands; however as time has gone by,
the aforementioned conversation as well as the term emergent itself have experienced some
emergence. Indeed, there are now some churches that would willingly self identify (or allow
others to take the liberty of identifying them) in such a manner. More often than not, however, they
would also (and preferably, I might add) identify themselves as missional . (More on that in a bit).
Emerging churches have several characteristics that make them similar to one another in some
respects. But first, let s discuss what they are not. They are not a theological movement, and
therefore do not hold in common a defined set of doctrinal beliefs or confessional statements. They
are, however, theological in the sense that they are all about having conversation (as they like to
put it) about Christian faith, mission and praxis in the context of the core classical Christian creeds.
In true post modernist style, they are willing to discuss the relevance, veracity and need for

decisions leads to the decision that Darren shall partake in the Trials of Death ( trials in which
vampire generals, something like congress, and vampire princes must take in order to gain their

hardest situations, but Darren Shan twists this standard definition of a story and makes it to
where Darren does survive but not without scars and burns and amputation almost. Darren is
forced to flee by one of his close friends Kurda Smahlt to avoid death but when fleeing from the

about someone watching a man fight against a metaphorical wave, and the man ends up being

he guides O Brien to the moralistic path with realism. The real issue with realism in this story

Do you ever think about the way you speak and why? Well, Paul Robert does an excellent job

change their use of language throughout their lives to conform to either society or to what kind
of person they want to be, or to just conform to who they need to be at a particular moment, in
which I agree. People s choice of language, including myself, are affected by many of their

A Note On The Stock Market
Introduction The stock market has seen a lot of fluctuation during the months of February, March,
and beginning of April. This can be noted to the new President in office, Mr. Trump. He has spent
a great amount of his life as a businessman, and many investors saw this as a positive omen as to
what would happen to the stock marketand their investments. In fact, right before the presidential
election in November, stock prices and indexes plunged as uncertainty in whether he or Mrs.

He signed executive orders that limited new regulations and was calling for review of Dodd Frank
regulation of financial firms. Companies that benefitted most from these deregulations contributed
to most of the growth. The first quarterly earnings after the election showed growth and many
companies plan to spend money on new equipment and hiring. Companies setting out to hire more
employees lowered the employment rate, which continue the stock market growth. The hallmark
of stock indexes increasing was on Thursday, March 2nd when the DIJA surged over 300 points.
The S P 500 rose 32.32 points and the Nasdaq rose 78.59 points as well. Investors showed
optimism in the President to deregulate more and passing tax policies that are better for
corporations, as well as hopes that the federal reserve will increase interest rates. The rise came
after President Trump spoke to Congress with an optimistic tone; however, he offered few details
for his plans. These events also caused a rise in the treasury interest rates on ten year treasury
notes, causing bank stocks like J.P. Morgan Chase and Bank of America to increase in price as
well. The promising of the Trump s presidency has many investors optimistic, but slightly
concerned by the high surge. Following the surge in stock indexes, the Federal Reserve raised
interest rates. Before they official rose rates, there were many statements from officials about a
strong possibility that interest rates would rise. This

Forgiveness In The Seventh Man
Life, as we all know is saturated with misfortune. Most of us are able to go through these and
learn from and exempt ourselves. Yet, this isn t always the case. People are faced with bone
riveting experiences that often take a long time to get over, if they ever do get over it. These
episodes brew in our brain popping up at the most random points often bringing our tone down.
Although these experiences may scare us and fill us with ruefulness and penitence, we can t
continue to live in the past and let these regrets habituate us. Self forgivenessis a remedy to healing
and to moving on in life, no matter how hard it is. In The Seventh Man the narrator hassles with
forgiveness after losing his friend K in a barbarous storm. This event led to many issues for the
narrator, he stated, It just barely missed me, but in my place it swallowed everything that
mattered most to me and swept it off to another world. I took years to find it again and to recover
from the experiences(Murakami, 133). These issues get so bad that they leaked into his dreams. K
ends up pulling the seventh man into the wave. This acts as a symbol of how the seventh man
feels. He feels he should ve died after his friend s death. This is better known as agent regret. He
ended up, Regretting that the weather is bad(Sherman, 155). Although this might serve as a simple
statement it has much complexity behind it. He ended up regretting living and wishing he died.
That just shows how a tragic event can

Similarities Between The Abbasid And The Umayyad
The Umayyads were a family that took over after the death of Ali, they ruled the Islamic Empire
helping spread the faith through conquering. The Abbasids were the next family that took over
after the fall of the Umayyads. The Abbasids had many achievements, and helped expand the
empire further. The Umayyads and the Abbasids both ruled the same areas, and they both
conquered more area to spread their religion. Although they share features they also are different in
their government, and the treatment of the social classes. Some similarities between the Umayyads
and the Abbasids are their government, where they rule from, and how they treat the people they
conquer. For example both the Umayyads and the Abbasids left the monotheistic religions such as
the Christians and the Buddhists to their faith. They let them keep their faith, culture and follow
their own laws. Also both empires initiated the jizya, a tax, for all monotheistic non Muslims.
Religions like the Christians paid the tax so they did not have to convert, and the Muslims
collected the money for their own use. People of other religions like, religions of pagan gods, were
forced to convert. Another similarity is where the empires ruled from. During the Umayyad empire,
their capital was Damascus, on the coast of Persia. While during the Abbasid period, it was moved
to Baghdad, also in Persia. Both empires capitals were centered in Persia, which eventually
influenced their culture and traditions. Their last

s rights, emphasizes the fact that women are not on par with men and should strive to become

all women are equal. She uses many rhetorical appeals throughout the text, including all three main
rhetorical appeals: pathos, ethos, and logos. Stanton also uses diction and allusion to convey her
point further. Stanton begins her speech by addressing the issue at hand. Using diction through
words such as assembled and protest , she presents a clear idea of what she wants to get

Odysseus Intellectual Development Throughout His Journey
Odysseus develops throughout his journey in many ways both spiritually and physically. These
developments help him adapt to his surroundings and transform him into a better person.
Throughout the epic poem, Odysseus entire person is reconstructed from that of a soldier in the
Trojan War to a versatile hero, whose development of mental, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual
aptitude is higher than his contemporaries . Odysseusintellectual development in The Odysseyis a
returning subject regularly as his journey unfolds. From the beginning of his journey, Odysseus
shows higher intellectual capacity than everyone around him. He displays an adroit cunning
numerous times in The Odyssey to ensure his, and his men s, safety. For... Show more content on

The reader can see that Odysseus mental capacity is recognized by the people around him. His
spirit is uncontainable no matter the situation. It is only at his weakest point in his journey,
when he is trapped on Calypsos island, that the hero s mental will begins to waver. By the days
found him sitting on the rocks or sands, torturing himself with tears, groans and heartache, and
looking out with streaming eyes across the watery wilderness (Homer, 67). His will is
threatened by his disconsolate attitude towards being a prisoner for more than 10 years on
Calypso island. However, this moment of weakness only brings to light the fact that the hero is
human, and though his mental support is fallible, it still develops beyond the point of normal
human capability. Throughout Odysseus adventurous endeavors, he is kept mentally and
physically toned by his belief in the Greek gods and their help. This spiritual growth leads him
to call out to Zeus for the blessing that will warrant his safe return home when he is leaving the
Phaeacians to embark on his last voyage home. I do indeed pray to Zeus the Thunderer, husband
or Hera, to let me reach my home and see the day of my return (Homer, 106). It becomes apparent
that Odysseus; reliance on the help and blessing from the gods is what reassures him in his time of
suffering. Eventually, his spiritual development reaches a point where he

homelessness Essay
All over America, there are people wandering the streets without a home. These individuals are
seen as a crowd, a separate collective existence. They are called the homeless, as if that defines
who they are, but we too often neglect to add the unspoken word in that title: people. It seems
today that the more fortunate citizens of America who have a roof over their heads have forgotten
their innate responsibility to watch over those in this world whom are incapable of caring for
themselves. Tragically, thirty to fifty percent of the homeless have severe mental illnesses(Torrey 1).
These individuals live life in such a way that few people in this world could possibly even begin to
compare their hardships. The fact that they survive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, mental hospitals are too eager to place their homeless patients in community health
centers. These health centers are more interested in mid life crisis patients than in the seemingly
incurable schizophrenics. These mental patients find it very easy to wander their way back on to
the streets. Wade Black, of Defining the Homeless and the Mentally Ill , says :
If more of us understood how they struggle to overcome their illness, we would seek better ways to
assist them rather than to force them out of our communities...if we can establish humane housing
that includes the support services necessary to make the transition back to ordinary living, the
homeless population would drop dramatically (Black 1).
Clinics need to be established specializing in only the homeless with a staff that is more considerate
to the fact that the patients of this nature share a lack of judgement and tend to assume that they are
okay , when they are not. When these patients reach the streets, they are without their medications.
An individual with an untreated mental disability can be a threat to others as well as themselves.
Each year, mentally ill people who are not receiving treatment manage to kill about one thousand
people in the United States. These statistics are a result of the emptying of our public psychiatric
hospitals (Torrey

A Skin Disease Of Vitiligo
I am going to be discussing a skin disease called vitiligo. This skin disease occurs when one s
melanocytes, mature melanin forming cells, are ruined. Vitiligo is a disease that is not hard to
recognize and can be found at several spots on the body. The most common places to find this
disease would be on the hands, feet, around the mouth and eyes, and even around the genitalia. With
some skindiseases, melanocytes are destroyed, and the production of melanin, a dark brown to
black pigment that is found in the skin and is the reasoning for skin color, is simply just slowed
down. This results in hypopigmentation, which is the loss of skin color, but not a total loss. Other
skin diseases, such as vitiligo, have a complete absence of melanin. The depigmented skin color of
someone with this disease is similar to that of one who suffers from albinism.
The destruction of melanocytes can have three major causes in people with vitiligo. The first being
that a patient with vitiligo has inherited three of the vitiligo genes, which has caused their
melanocytes to destruct. The second being that the melanocytes themselves are different in a
patient with vitiligo in relation to those without vitiligo. Melanocytes of a vitiligo patient compared
to a person without vitiligo require a meticulous cultural condition and are more unstable around
certain chemicals. The cells can even die when exposed to such factors. Vitiligo genes are
prevented from acting in a normal fashion when they are

A Brief Analysis of Life of Brian Essay
Monty Python s Life of Brian is more than just a mere comedy; it is a Biblical, religious, and
political satire. Like all Python films, Life of Brian seems to educate the viewer while at the same
time providing entertainment. Unfortunately not all of the elements in Life of Brian occurred in
real life, which takes away from the validity of the plot. While not everything is accurate, it seems
that a majority of the film could be considered genuine. In order to understand an analysis of the
film, one must first have a basic sense of the plot.
Summarizing a movie that is almost an hour and a half into one paragraph is a daunting task, but it
can be done! The first scene opens with Brian receiving gifts from the Three Wise Men; ... Show

Take the line Blessed are the Greek and plankton will inherit the Earth for example, not only is a
hilarious pun, it also aids to the telling of Jesus s story. I believe Terry Jonesused Jesus, the Bible,
and the Romans purely because he could create a myriad of puns, parodies, double entendre, and so
forth. Not only does the constant humor aid to my interpretation, the reviews I found online also
side with it. While the story is an important aspect of the film, the supporting moments make it.
There are countless memorable moments in the movie that aid to the story. The story of the
Romans is brought to life with scenes such as: when slaves are carrying in an enormous Roman
statue, Naughtius Maximus and Biggus Dickus, the man set to be killed in the coliseum,
everything the Romans have brought to Judea, and so forth. The story of Jesus is illustrated with
memorable scenes such as: the sermon on the mount, the leper, Brian is the messiah, and finally
crucifixion. On a similar note the story of the Bible is depicted by the same scenes as the story of
Jesus, in addition to the entire plot! To my recollection not one scene is detrimental to any of the
stories and furthermore most of the scenes in the movie are purely based on the director s
interpretation with a foundation of facts.
After doing some research I have found numerous truthful facts. For example: Pilate was real,
leprosy

Zora Neale Hurston Sweat Essay
With respect to Zora Neal Hurston s short story Sweat, the reader is introduced to the hidden
meanings within the text. Instinctively, the reader would define the meaning of sweat as moisture
leaving the body after one overexerts themselves. However, the elements in this story generates
so much more meaning to the word sweat than the reader may think. Sweat signifies
perseverance and courage and these traits becomes more evident as the reader embarks into the
story. For example, perseverance is a key attribute that Delia possesses. The reader soon discovers
that Delia makes a living by washing clothes for the community. However, her husband Sykes does
not contribute to their income in any way, is unfaithful, and beats her. The author of this story,
Zora Neal Hurston, shows how Delia expresses her frustration towards Sykes and surprisingly, this
may have been the first time Delia has stood up to him. Ah been married to you fur fifteen years,
and Ah been takin in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout this story, Delia is in a war mentally and physically. Political theorist George Kateb,
analyzes the strength and endurance that comes from war. Why does war s exhilaration call forth
spontaneous courage (Kateb 18). This question is very important to the text because Delia just
snaps. She has had enough and won t stand for it anymore. There comes a point in everyone s lives
where individuals reach that breaking point and find that spontaneous courage within themselves
just like Delia did. Similarly, the words and phrases that the author uses throughout this story seem
to carry spontaneous courage. Triumphant indifference, spiritual earthworks, and pretty pass are a
few examples. These words create a visual for the reader, and the individual is able to ponder
these phrases and inevitably, find those hidden meanings and key elements to the story. One of the
key elements of Sweat is when a rattlesnake is brought to her home by

  • 2. Racism in Divine Wind by Gary Disher Essay Today I want to address the issues of the novel Divine Wind authored by Gary Disher. Throughout the novel many problems occur. Some of the main problems are racial and equality issues. Events in this book show how prejudice and intolerance can ruin numerous friendships and change lives. When WWII was declared in Broome, Western Australia1939 to 1945 Japan became Australia s enemy, Asia is approximately 3,862 miles away from the coast of Broome, due to this, people from Asia that country looking for an escape would easily get on a boat an sail to the tip, Broome then suddenly exposed to more people who are different from the norm. Australia in this time was quite defensive about whom they trusted. Even Japanese Australians, they had an issue towards them simply because the higher authorities thought they would turn on them. Disher tries to imply his view that loyalty within the authorities was at high demand and this portrays the distrust they held against anyone who questioned them. The judgment against the aboriginal and Japanese people increased during the war period. An example for this would be the name calling by the locals at the Penrose family even though they stayed loyal towards each other and their friends. ABORIGINAL RACISM In the chapter Desired earth there was a discussion between Morrissey who is a military commander, Lester Webb, Carl and Alice who takes care of derby whom is aboriginal. The abos are going to be a liability if the japs land Morrissey to Carl And if the abos cause trouble we can shoot them, no questions asked Lester to Alice They all had a discussion about the foreign people and how they would turn against Australian people, all three men made harsh statements while Alice stood up for what she believed. They as in aboriginal and Japanese people are not bad. JAPANESE INTERNMENT (concentration camps for Japanese people) During WWII and around that time period things got pretty heated towards different races, Chinese taxi drivers were bashed and when they would be selling their goods at markets to get money to even survive they would ... Although Mary is the most highly acclaimed we often misinterpret our understanding of her. In order to gain a more detailed and descriptive understanding of the mother of Godwe must investigate the four Marian Dogmas that are associated with her. Not only will an investigation of Mary s Divine Motherhood, Perpetual Virginity, Immaculate Conception, and Assumption serve to further our understanding of her, but it will also help us realize the indispensable need for Mariology. The first dogma of Mary is her Divine Motherhood which is basical the principle that she and only she is the mother of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Childhood In Trevor s Crowd Slightly before World War II, Adolf Hitler rose to power by promising great things for the German people. He also had a quite public hatred of Jewish people, which was ignored because of the other things he promised. This is an example of people blindly following a leader. It is a theme that is occasionally repeated in books. Greene Graham shows a group of kids following a leader who demands radical changes and alterations. Graham warns the reader about how a crowd of people will follow orders from a fierce leader blindly. Trevor is an idealistic, emotionally unstable child. The term child is used loosely, as Trevor s age is never directly stated. Trevor acts like a teenager would when he is first introduced, being very grim and dour. Trevor gave Mike a dark gaze (1) when Mike laughed at Trevor s overly fancy name. Trevor acts tough when he is introduced to build some admiration for himself by others and for people to be intimidated by him. Trevor immediately assumes that the gang he got accepted into is for tough , or intimidating people. This is why he first rarely talks and has a brooding silence that all recognized (1). • 6. Cultural Issues In The Graduate Movie During the 1960 s, the film industry was in a downward spiral, facing extinction. In the early 60 s, studios were producing less than half as many films per year compared to the films produced in the previous decades. As more esteemed directors retired, there was a decline in artistic development while several studios struggled financially due to their ill advised production budgets. It was not until the late 1960 s that a promising Broadway director by the name of Mike Nichols, would go on to create what would be known as a box office champion of the decade (Text 230), proving that filmwas not yet dead. The Graduate, released in 1967, is a cinematic masterpiece directed by Mike Nichols starring off Broadway actor, Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman plays a 21 year old college graduate by the name of Benjamin (Ben) Braddock, who like most recent college graduates, is anxious about the uncertainty of his future. • 8. The Hungry Tide, By Amitav Ghosh Nature cannot be separated from humanity. This may seem obvious as humans are a part of the natural world, but too many times people often overlook this fact of their existence. Most likely this is a result of movements such as the Industrial Revolution which has brought man from the natural environment to an artificial environment. In the beginning, and even now, this has been seen as a luxury and a testimony to the power of mankind. It seems as if man has outsmarted nature. However, we are only now beginning to see the true effects of this seeming victory, as climate change becomes a more threatening and inescapable force. In the novel The Hungry Tide, author, Amitav Ghosh, uses a cross between narration and environmentalism as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this description, the sun and tide become personified in the active voice. This is not true personification because Ghosh still uses the pronoun it to describe both of the natural elements. However, the use of the active voice creates a sense of personification because it gives a feeling of action to objects we do not normally think to act. By doing this, the author forces the reader to acknowledge that all of nature is alive and active in somewhat similar ways as humans. Even the nature of objects like the sun and a river are alive despite their lack of biology. Their life does not come from cells but from the movement and patterns of their cycles, like the cycle of the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening. The difference between the life of nature and the life of human beings, and other biological creatures exist in time. Compared to the lifespan of the natural world, humanity s lifespan as a whole is a tiny speck. Nature existed before humanity and can go on existing even after the end of humanity. In an article on climate change, written by Chakrabrty, he uses the words finitude of humanity to describe this possibility of nature living on without humans. This possibility is ever increasing as climate change continues to threaten human s very existence by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Gender Roles In Why Women Smile By Paul Theroux Gender roles perceived through societal pressures are revealed and examined in the articles Why Women Smile, by Amy Cunningham and Being a Man, written by Paul Theroux. Cunningham conveys her view on the smile often seen on women and describes how it can veil several other emotions due to gender roles and stereotypes. On the other hand, Theroux explains his stance on the meaning behind Being a Manand how it constraints men to an emotionally damaging set of characteristics and expectations. Although Cunningham and Theroux voice their opinion on either gender, their responses are similar as they describe the effect the strong relationship between society and gender roles has on an individual. In the article, Why Women Smile, Cunningham conveys how she believes smiles to be, not the small and innocuous things they appear to be... (172). Cunningham analyzes the various reasonings behind the smiling women throughout our history and the world. For example, she reports that the Japanese smile is often conveyed to hide sadness. This smile was often expressed in their history if a wife s husband was a samurai who died in battle. She notes that, Women are expected to smile no matter where they line up on the social, cultural, or economic ladder (174). Cunningham goes into further detail on the trademarked American smile. Throughout the piece, the cornet, which is accompanied by the clarinet, plays the main tune as the trombone and piano keep the tempo like a bass. The piano plays the chords as the trombone plays consistent quarter notes which helps the whole ensemble keep time. The Davenport Blues introduction begins sounding somewhat homophonic. It sounded homophonic because the cornet and clarinet begin by playing the same melody but at different pitches. The melody in the intro sounds a little broken up and unorganized. But then we begin to hear the verses becoming somewhat reminiscent of the New Orleans style, which is known for its collective improvisation and polyphony. Polyphony is clearly heard in the three different melodies played simultaneously by the cornet, clarinet, and trombone in the Davenport Blues verses. The instruments in the Davenport Blues generally have the same interactions that a New Orleans ensemble would have. The cornet, for instance, plays the melody while the clarinet plays a countermelody drawn from the underlying chord progression. The trombone fills out the ensemble with another countermelody, but plays fewer notes than the clarinet. Finally, the rhythm section provides a steady pulse and lays down the harmonies for each measure. The instrumentation is also typical of a New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Abandoned Husband Spouse Analysis Meaning of Absent Spouse The provisions of this article are of American origin, and must be construed in the light of American Jurisprudence. An identical provision (except for the period) exists in the California civil code (section 61); California jurisprudence should, therefore, prove enlightening. It has been held in that jurisdiction that, as respects the validity of a husbands subsequent marriage, a presumption as to the death of his first wifecannot be predicated upon an absence resulting from his leaving or deserting her, as it is his duty to keep her advised as to his whereabouts. The spouse who has been left or deserted is the one who is considered as the spouse present ; such spouse is not required to ascertain the whereabouts of the deserting spouse, and after the required number of years of absence of the latter, the former may validly remarry. It is the duty of the spouse who has deserted to keep the abandoned spouse posted as to his whereabouts. It is therefore the subsequent marriage of the abandoned spouse that falls under the class of voidable marriages, and not the re marriage of the deserting spouse, after the period of seven years has lapsed. Perhaps, in the latter s instance, not so much a friend but rather an exceptionally close acquaintance. Nick and Leland share a few similarities, their close connection to Gatsby and Kane respectively as well as their clear admiration and endearment towards them. They both hold high standards for these men and are disappointed when they realize that they are capable of human error. Jedediah and Nick are similar however, they are more different than alike. Leland is disillusioned with Kane and eventually gives up on him. Rockefeller, at his peak was said to have had a total net worth of around $341 billion in USD today. Rockefeller was at the head of Americas first monopoly. His oil company, Standard Oil, controlled 90% of the entire US oil industry. Rockefeller believed that he was doing the right thing, but others did not perceive him the same way. John D. This was not good because now Standard Oil was able to set the new standards for the market, including quality of the product and price. On the other hand some heros do get noticed for their courageous acts and are rewarded with a medalor other objects that signified they have helped the world. The last and most successful trick is giving Snow White a poisonous but beautiful apple. It reminds the story of Adam and Eve in Bible and other books of Abrahamic religions, where the woman is again portrayed as an evil creature, beneath the man. This statement, now nearly a decade old was made in an attempt to clarify to his audience that emerging /emergent в‰ denomination . This clarified distinction still stands; however as time has gone by, the aforementioned conversation as well as the term emergent itself have experienced some emergence. Indeed, there are now some churches that would willingly self identify (or allow others to take the liberty of identifying them) in such a manner. More often than not, however, they would also (and preferably, I might add) identify themselves as missional . (More on that in a bit). Emerging churches have several characteristics that make them similar to one another in some respects. But first, let s discuss what they are not. They are not a theological movement, and therefore do not hold in common a defined set of doctrinal beliefs or confessional statements. They are, however, theological in the sense that they are all about having conversation (as they like to put it) about Christian faith, mission and praxis in the context of the core classical Christian creeds. • 40. Forgiveness In The Seventh Man Life, as we all know is saturated with misfortune. Most of us are able to go through these and learn from and exempt ourselves. Yet, this isn t always the case. People are faced with bone riveting experiences that often take a long time to get over, if they ever do get over it. These episodes brew in our brain popping up at the most random points often bringing our tone down. Although these experiences may scare us and fill us with ruefulness and penitence, we can t continue to live in the past and let these regrets habituate us. Self forgivenessis a remedy to healing and to moving on in life, no matter how hard it is. In The Seventh Man the narrator hassles with forgiveness after losing his friend K in a barbarous storm. This event led to many issues for the narrator, he stated, It just barely missed me, but in my place it swallowed everything that mattered most to me and swept it off to another world. I took years to find it again and to recover from the experiences(Murakami, 133). These issues get so bad that they leaked into his dreams. K ends up pulling the seventh man into the wave. This acts as a symbol of how the seventh man feels. He feels he should ve died after his friend s death. This is better known as agent regret. He ended up, Regretting that the weather is bad(Sherman, 155). Although this might serve as a simple statement it has much complexity behind it. He ended up regretting living and wishing he died. • 42. Similarities Between The Abbasid And The Umayyad The Umayyads were a family that took over after the death of Ali, they ruled the Islamic Empire helping spread the faith through conquering. The Abbasids were the next family that took over after the fall of the Umayyads. The Abbasids had many achievements, and helped expand the empire further. The Umayyads and the Abbasids both ruled the same areas, and they both conquered more area to spread their religion. Although they share features they also are different in their government, and the treatment of the social classes. Some similarities between the Umayyads and the Abbasids are their government, where they rule from, and how they treat the people they conquer. For example both the Umayyads and the Abbasids left the monotheistic religions such as the Christians and the Buddhists to their faith. They let them keep their faith, culture and follow their own laws. Also both empires initiated the jizya, a tax, for all monotheistic non Muslims. Religions like the Christians paid the tax so they did not have to convert, and the Muslims collected the money for their own use. People of other religions like, religions of pagan gods, were forced to convert. Another similarity is where the empires ruled from. During the Umayyad empire, their capital was Damascus, on the coast of Persia. While during the Abbasid period, it was moved to Baghdad, also in Persia. Both empires capitals were centered in Persia, which eventually influenced their culture and traditions. Their last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reader can see that Odysseus mental capacity is recognized by the people around him. His spirit is uncontainable no matter the situation. It is only at his weakest point in his journey, when he is trapped on Calypsos island, that the hero s mental will begins to waver. By the days found him sitting on the rocks or sands, torturing himself with tears, groans and heartache, and looking out with streaming eyes across the watery wilderness (Homer, 67). His will is threatened by his disconsolate attitude towards being a prisoner for more than 10 years on Calypso island. However, this moment of weakness only brings to light the fact that the hero is human, and though his mental support is fallible, it still develops beyond the point of normal human capability. Throughout Odysseus adventurous endeavors, he is kept mentally and physically toned by his belief in the Greek gods and their help. This spiritual growth leads him to call out to Zeus for the blessing that will warrant his safe return home when he is leaving the Phaeacians to embark on his last voyage home. I do indeed pray to Zeus the Thunderer, husband or Hera, to let me reach my home and see the day of my return (Homer, 106). • 45. homelessness Essay All over America, there are people wandering the streets without a home. These individuals are seen as a crowd, a separate collective existence. They are called the homeless, as if that defines who they are, but we too often neglect to add the unspoken word in that title: people. It seems today that the more fortunate citizens of America who have a roof over their heads have forgotten their innate responsibility to watch over those in this world whom are incapable of caring for themselves. Tragically, thirty to fifty percent of the homeless have severe mental illnesses(Torrey 1). These individuals live life in such a way that few people in this world could possibly even begin to compare their hardships. The fact that they survive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently, mental hospitals are too eager to place their homeless patients in community health centers. These health centers are more interested in mid life crisis patients than in the seemingly incurable schizophrenics. These mental patients find it very easy to wander their way back on to the streets. Wade Black, of Defining the Homeless and the Mentally Ill , says : If more of us understood how they struggle to overcome their illness, we would seek better ways to assist them rather than to force them out of our communities...if we can establish humane housing that includes the support services necessary to make the transition back to ordinary living, the homeless population would drop dramatically (Black 1). Clinics need to be established specializing in only the homeless with a staff that is more considerate to the fact that the patients of this nature share a lack of judgement and tend to assume that they are okay , when they are not. When these patients reach the streets, they are without their medications. An individual with an untreated mental disability can be a threat to others as well as themselves. Each year, mentally ill people who are not receiving treatment manage to kill about one thousand people in the United States. These statistics are a result of the emptying of our public psychiatric hospitals (Torrey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. A Skin Disease Of Vitiligo I am going to be discussing a skin disease called vitiligo. This skin disease occurs when one s melanocytes, mature melanin forming cells, are ruined. Vitiligo is a disease that is not hard to recognize and can be found at several spots on the body. The most common places to find this disease would be on the hands, feet, around the mouth and eyes, and even around the genitalia. With some skindiseases, melanocytes are destroyed, and the production of melanin, a dark brown to black pigment that is found in the skin and is the reasoning for skin color, is simply just slowed down. This results in hypopigmentation, which is the loss of skin color, but not a total loss. Other skin diseases, such as vitiligo, have a complete absence of melanin. The depigmented skin color of someone with this disease is similar to that of one who suffers from albinism. The destruction of melanocytes can have three major causes in people with vitiligo. The first being that a patient with vitiligo has inherited three of the vitiligo genes, which has caused their melanocytes to destruct. The second being that the melanocytes themselves are different in a patient with vitiligo in relation to those without vitiligo. Melanocytes of a vitiligo patient compared to a person without vitiligo require a meticulous cultural condition and are more unstable around certain chemicals. The cells can even die when exposed to such factors. Vitiligo genes are prevented from acting in a normal fashion when they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. A Brief Analysis of Life of Brian Essay Monty Python s Life of Brian is more than just a mere comedy; it is a Biblical, religious, and political satire. Like all Python films, Life of Brian seems to educate the viewer while at the same time providing entertainment. Unfortunately not all of the elements in Life of Brian occurred in real life, which takes away from the validity of the plot. While not everything is accurate, it seems that a majority of the film could be considered genuine. In order to understand an analysis of the film, one must first have a basic sense of the plot. Summarizing a movie that is almost an hour and a half into one paragraph is a daunting task, but it can be done! The first scene opens with Brian receiving gifts from the Three Wise Men; ... Take the line Blessed are the Greek and plankton will inherit the Earth for example, not only is a hilarious pun, it also aids to the telling of Jesus s story. I believe Terry Jonesused Jesus, the Bible, and the Romans purely because he could create a myriad of puns, parodies, double entendre, and so forth. Not only does the constant humor aid to my interpretation, the reviews I found online also side with it. While the story is an important aspect of the film, the supporting moments make it. There are countless memorable moments in the movie that aid to the story. The story of the Romans is brought to life with scenes such as: when slaves are carrying in an enormous Roman statue, Naughtius Maximus and Biggus Dickus, the man set to be killed in the coliseum, everything the Romans have brought to Judea, and so forth. The story of Jesus is illustrated with memorable scenes such as: the sermon on the mount, the leper, Brian is the messiah, and finally crucifixion. On a similar note the story of the Bible is depicted by the same scenes as the story of Jesus, in addition to the entire plot! To my recollection not one scene is detrimental to any of the stories and furthermore most of the scenes in the movie are purely based on the director s interpretation with a foundation of facts. After doing some research I have found numerous truthful facts. For example: Pilate was real, leprosy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
