A Film Review Of Night And Fog
The movie, Night and Fog was filmed in 1955 portraying all of the disgusting acts that were
performed and happened to the people throughout the Nazi Concentration Camps. This movie
captured many pictures and multiple clips containing the horror that the Nazi s were put through. I
really enjoyed this movie because it was compelling and hit pretty close to home. My father, who
is Jewish, had ancestors that were involved in the concentration camps and it pains him every time
he has to talk about it. Me on the other hand, I find it fascinating to talk about the past events.
Watching this movie really opened my eyes to say the least. The movie, being in French, made the
movie more mysterious and very puzzling. It made me leave with questions,

Chaos In Lord Of The Flies Essay
The quote, Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered, by Jose Saramago, explains the
importance of keeping order in civilization. When order does not exist or is not enforced,
civilization begins to collapse or breaks down which, in turn, proceeds to ensue chaos. When
Piggy discovers the conch in the story, Lord of The Flies, by William Golding, he uses it to
establish order on the island, but when he dies order ceases to exist. The first line in the poem, In
A Dark Time, is eerily similar to the boys situation of order and civility on the island. When Piggy
first observed the conch in the beginning of the story he decided that they should use that conch to
preserve order in the tribe. Piggy explains to the group, We can use... Show more content on

After Piggy s death the boys on the island could not be more divided. The boys had split into two
groups, Jack and his tribe and Ralph who is now alone due to Piggy s death. Dark, darker my
light, and darker my desire, (Stanza 3), as said by Roethke. The boys are only falling into deeper
chaos on the island, and are continuing to become more savage. Jack s desires, in particular, are
becoming darker because he proceeds to throw spears and hunt down Ralph after he had
witnessed Piggy s death. This is a great representation of how the boys are becoming more
barbaric with the actions that they are taking. At first the boys desires were to get rescued.
However, now Jack is coming to the realization that they will probably not be rescued and he
wants to hunt down and kill Ralph. Jack starts reinstating to the boys on the island that he is
their leader. Piggy s death is the symbolization of the breakdown of order and the beginning of
disunity on the island. This breakdown of order is clearly delineated in the book. Jack sees the
chance to kill Ralph right after Piggy is killed because Ralph is vulnerable, and alone against
Jack and his tribe. Jack takes it upon himself to declare himself as the leader, I m chief! (Page
181). Jack sees the opportunity to proclaim himself as leader of the boys after Piggy dies and the
conch is destroyed. Jack then proceeds to barrage Ralph with spears in an attempt to kill him,
Viciously, with full intention, he hurled the

The Similarities Of Mother Teresa And Angelina Jolie
Who do you look up to? Many different people are considered an inspiration for many different
reasons. When looking at Mother Teresa and Angelina Jolie, you may not immediately see a
whole lot of similarities. The things that come to my mind when I think of them is their fame or
popularity, their way of inspiring thousands, and the controversy behind their names. Their
popularity may be the biggest thing they share. They are hugely known all around the world,
although their popularity may be more well known to more past generations compared to the
newer ones. Mother Teresa is known for her catholic religion and her devotion to it. When she
was just eighteen she felt the desire to become a missionary, in September 1928 she took off to
fulfill that dream. On May 24, 1937 she made her final vows to her religion and after that she
was called Mother Teresa. She traveled the world spreading word of love and her religion. She s
helped many in need, this is how she got her popularity. Angelina Joliebegan her study of theatre at
age eleven, five years later she started modeling and was in a few music videos. Her big launch into
fame was in 1999 in the movie The Bone Collector. As you can see they made their way to fame in
two pretty different ways, but they actually are well known for one thing in common. They are both
humanitarians. Angelina Jolie became interested in humanitarian work after her first adoption from
Cambodia in 2002. She adopted three kids overall, and shares three with her now divorced husband,
Brad Pitt. Mother Teresa became dedicated humanitarian work after her final vows. Both were
born and raised with influence in their legacies. With fame comes inspiration. Both women
traveled the world, although for different reasons both gained knowledge from their travels.
Mother Teresa met many in need of help while spreading the word of love from Jesus. If you
look up Mother Teresa it is likely you will find the webpage dedicated to her, on this page you
will find many testimonies from lots of people, whether they knew her personally, admired her, or
were helped by her. She has lived a life devoted to her religion, and when her question of faith was
released to the public many found it admirable and saw

The Need for a Strategic Approach to Enterprise Mobility...

ENTERPR ISE Today s enterprises are under tremendous pressure to keep pace with a rapidly

In the first quote, Carnegie means that the men share their wealth with the community; they help

By survival of the fittest, Carnegie means that the most capable people will succeed and prosper,

Lady Macbeth of Shakespeare s Play, Macbeth Essay
Lady Macbeth of Shakespeare s Play, Macbeth Lady Macbeth is the most interesting and complex
character in Shakespeare s play, Macbeth. She is, in fact, the point on which the action pivots:
without her there is no play. The purpose of this essay is to describe Lady Macbeth s role in the
play and discuss why this makes her the most fascinating character. Her evil doings are the main
reasons why she dominates the plot so greatly. These include the following: considers Macbeth to
be a wimp not wanting to murder; letting Macbeth fulfill her plan; taking control over Macbeth s
thoughts and actions; turning Macbeth from a loyal man to a greedy, coldhearted human being.

Lady Macbeth tells her husband that Is too full of the human kindness which means she
considers him to be a wimp and that she ll have to do it all herself. Lady Macbeth s actions shape
the first two acts which proves she is the point on which the action pivots. Lady Macbeth
continues to convince and persuade Macbeth into thinking her plan will pay off. Eventually
Macbeth decides against the murder of his king but Lady Macbeth shames him for not being
able to murder, threatening to take away her love from him if he does not. This threat shocks
Macbeth into saying yes . Lady Macbeth outlines her plan to kill King Duncan while asleep as a
guest in their castle. Macbeth had the dagger in his hand ready to kill the King but he just could
not do it until the King started waking up, it was then he knew he had no choice. He regrets his
actions afterwards, But where fore could not I pronounce Amen ? / I had most need of blessing,

Macbeth assures him a little water will wash away their guilt . Macbeth having killed the King
eventually kills several others to cover his tracks. This proves Lady Macbeth transformed her
husband by saying things such as Are you a man? She made him feel at fault so things could be
done her way. If it weren t for Lady Macbeth, Macbeth would have never have killed anyone. This

Economic And Social Conditions On The Health Of People And...
From the Lecture: 1.
Many health outcomes such as obesity, average life expectancy, the
infant mortality are directly related to the inequality within a society. Poor health and poverty
are directly related to each other as the poverty level increases the health outcomes worsens.
Inequality causes. We all know that people who live in poorer countries live shorter lives and
this is directly related to the inequality. Unequally access to the healthcare, food, housing,
education. Job that does not come with stress. 2.I think that economic and social conditions
effect the health of people and communities. Economic and social conditions are resulted by the
amount of money people have, by power, and by available resources and all of these are
influenced by the policies. In short, if you are closer to the top of the chart, you are healthier
because you have access to the resources to stay healthy which are good education, a job that
pays good, quality healthcare, nutrition, housing, social support, and of course no discrimination.
3.When I think about illness is socially constructed the first thing that comes to my mind how
the society sees the evilness and how people define it and how they react it. For example, here in
the US when I go see a doctor, doctors do not want to prescribe a medication unless I am dying
because they get paid by the insurance companies if they do not prescribe too much medicines.
However, doctors in Turkey prescribes me many different kinds of

Equal Employment Opportunity Essay
Throughout the years the United States has faced many challenges with equal employment
opportunities for everyone. The United States has developed The Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission, also known as the EEOC, to enforce laws that help prevent everyone from being
treated unfairly when it comes to employment options. The EEOC has established stipulations and
overlooks all of the federal equal employment opportunity regulations, practices and policies (
Federal Laws Prohibiting Job DiscriminationQuestions and Answers ). Some laws that have been
passed are the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Age
Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. Although some discrimination is still a problem, all of

With the same exemption as Merit System, Seniority Plans are also exempt which means that a
company that ties pay notes to seniority can pay a man more if he has been with the company
longer than the female co worker. In conclusion the EPA indicates that any other factor other
than sex may be used to justify different pay rates (Gomez Mejia, Luis R.). Industries of
commerce and productions of goods for commerce have depressed wages and standards of
living based on sex which resulted in the declaration of purpose. The EPA is necessary for every
one s health and efficiency. The purpose of declaration is that discrimination of sex in the work
force prevents the most efficient level of labor resources, causes problems with in the labor
force, prevents and burdens commerce and symbolizes an unfair competition between
individuals. This is one of the reasons why the EPA is created to solve these complications. If
employers use sex discrimination in the work force they will face penalties. Some penalties are
fines and imprisonment, employers are liable for damages done to the employee, employer must
pay wages and compensation that was held from the employee and the employer must provide
savings provisions ( The Equal Pay Act of 1963 ). Preventing sex pay discrimination is just one way
that Equal Employment Opportunities Commission is trying to make everyone equal. The Title

Mexico City Policy Current Event
Mexico City Policy Current Event The Mexico City Policy, also known by opponents as The
Global Gag Rule , was originally introduced as an executive order by president Ronald Reagan in
1984. The policy was made to withhold U.S. family planning, funding and assistance from foreign
NGOs (non profits) that include reproductive health organizations and included private hospitals
and clinics that perform or publicize abortions. In countries where abortionis permitted, the policy
prohibits health workers at NGOs that receive U.S. funding from offering abortion as an option or
referring women to a provider (PAI). The Mexico City Policyhad exceptions for those who had
abortions done in response to rape, incest, or life threatening conditions. When active, this policy
could erase any progress made by the women that lack access to today s modern contraceptives.
The global gag rule forces organizations to prioritize which communities they want to serve:
women seeking abortions or all other women, children and families (Jones, 2004). This policy was
then revoked by President Obama in 2009. Currently, supporters are making sure that in the future
presidents, like Trump, can t rescind the policy without Congress. It was originally thought to be a
way to control the world s growing population by saying abortion is the same thing as family
planning. This is not true. The organization Pathfinder International, who is a global leader in

Dolphins Persuasive
Why Should We Save the Dolphins? Final Draft
By: Emily Chang
Class: 6(2)
Subject: English
Teacher: Mr. Kris(Smith)
Imagine you are a dolphin swimming happily in the ocean with the other dolphins. Suddenly, you
hear something terrible, and that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. You swim towards
somewhere safe to get away from that terrible sound. However, when you get in, you realize it is
a trap! You have been caught! You might be sent to an aquarium or killed to be made into sushi.
This unfortunate fate is not a dream, but it is a sad reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent
dolphins. They are endangered of becoming extinct and their main predators are us, humans. Our
society needs to do something to preserve and protect our precious dolphins. Dolphins should be
saved because they are an endangered species, it is cruel to kill such intelligent animals and they are
not even safe to eat.
Dolphins: An Endangered Species There are many kinds of dolphins in the world. The most
common one that we see in theme parks, aquariums and movies is the Bottlenose Dolphin.
Fortunately for us, this is one of the few species of dolphins that are not yet endangered. However,
there are many other different species of dolphins that are endangered. For example, the Baiji

fact extinct. This is a sad situation because we could have and should have prevented this. If we do
not save the dolphins, the path to extinct might be quicker. Therefore, we must help save the
dolphins to ensure their population continues to

Pride And Prejudice Essay
Pride and Prejudice: Marriage
Essay written by Maria Engstrom
Introduction
For this essay, I chose to read the perhaps most famous book by the English author Jane Austen.
During the reading I was thinking about which theme I should choose to write about and analyze,
and eventually I felt that marriage was the central keyword in the book. I will concentrate on the
situation of the daughters in the family, since these are the best described in the novel. My dealing
with different ideals and problems within a marriage will be illustrated with examples from the text.

Since money is so important, Wickham tries to elope with Georgiana Darcy only because of her
fortune of ВЈ30,000 since the property of a woman automatically becomes the property of the
husband in the marriage.
Marriage was therefore a great security for a happy life since there was nothing like the social
security, old age pensions or health insurances we are provided with today.
quot;If you go on refusing every offer of marriage, you will never get a husband and I am sure I
do not know who is to maintain you when your father is dead. quot;
The sentence above is the quoting of Mrs. Bennet to Elizabeth after the refusal of Mr. Collins
proposal. The statement reflects the situation for women in the novel and during this period. No
professions (politics, university related etc.) were open for women of the genteel classes, so
independence on the woman s hand almost never occurred. The only quot;profession quot;
available was that of being a governess, which meant educating the daughters of a family, but this
was a job with low working conditions and lowly paid. Therefore women had to marry their life
into money, happiness and a secured future (if they did not by chance happened to inherit a large
sum of money.) As Charlotte

Role Of Pharmacy In Pharmacy
Pharmacy as a profession plays a very important part in the overall wellbeing of a patient. This is
an occupation that deals with the administration and pharmacology of medications. A pharmacist
is part of the team that ensures that a patient is nursed to full health, thereby improving the
quality of life. I was twelve years old when I decided that whatever occupation I end up doing, I
will be positively impacting the health of people. I made this decision one summer after school

pain, but also because I couldn t go out and play since the illness didn t seem to be dissipating

first couple of days although my condition continued to worsen. Finally, we went to the hospital

Abstract Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology for automated identification of

using RFIDtechnology. It is privacy and security. That is why, Electrical and computer engineers

technology is also used in objects, as the travel from manufacture to storage and finally the point

These tags are read in different ways and need greater detection distances.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) can be defined as an automatic identification technology

In the Caribbean Sea, there are more than 700 islands, all have different sizes but have a similar
environment, within these islands, and there are 150 species of lizards under the genus name of
Anolis. These lizards are widely spread out over the islands in the Caribbean, these Anolis have
similar habitat, niche, morphology, and behavior but they are not closely related, which this is
defined as the ectomorph. This means we can found several different species living in the same

Breast Feeding Vs. The Bottle
Breast feeding vs. The Bottle: The Decision is yours Some mothers have to give up
breastfeeding even though they want to breastfeed. To give up breastfeeding can be a sensitive
issue in a time when breastfeeding is promoted as the healthiest for mother and child (Larsen
Kronborg, 2013, p. 848). The debate over whether breast feeding is better than bottle feeding or
vice versa has been a debate for many years. With more and more research that is continuously
being developed, the option to breast feed or bottle feed is ultimately up to the parents of the
child. Although the decision could be based on factors such as a physical incapability or financial
burdens, the end result should always be what is going to be best for the baby. As research
continues to grow, there has been proven evidence of the positive and negative aspects that come
with breast feeding and bottle feeding.
The Benefits of Breast Feeding Starting from infancy, parents have the right to make the decisions
in their new child s life, which includes breast feeding their child. Infant nutrition is important in
development and health throughout life (Klag, McNamara, Geraghty, Keim, 2015, p. 1059)
Although the process has been known to bring some complications and many attempts, the end
result has been proven to be beneficial to not only the infant during that time but can be tracked in
their life down the line. The decision to breast feed is a decision that will not only impact the child,
but can also

April, 1, 2015 American women can vote, hold office, and they can work in a public work
environment. They are considered have an equal opportunity when compared to men. What is the
true definition of equal employment opportunity? Does this mean that women and men are
offered the same opportunities in the workplace? As well treated equally in regards of the
opportunities of advancement and pay .Just because a woman can hold the same position does
that mean that they will be offered the same amount of respect and given the same pay as a man.
Nobody should feel objectified or discriminated upon for any reason. There is to believe to be a
gender gap in the workplace environment .There has been several acts and laws made to try to
create an equally employment environment for both men and women. Yet, the problem still occurs.
Women are among the most discriminated groups in today s world .Some companies try to
implement solutions in regards to fix the problem, but other companies simply ignore the problem
at hand.
Gender discrimination in the workplace can be referred to as a glass ceiling in organizations in
regards to a woman .Glass ceiling began as a discrimination against women in the work force.
Glass ceiling has several different kinds of discrimination against women workers including

Earth is the Planet of the Plants
Earth is the planet of the plants David Biello
According to the Biology Online dictionary, photosynthesis is the synthesis of complex organic
material using carbon dioxide, water, inorganic salts, and light energy from sunlight, captured by
light absorbing pigments, such as chlorophyll. This in other words, is the process through which
plants use carbon dioxide and water to grow, produce their food, and release ex cess of oxygen into
the air.
Plants versus Photovoltaics: Which Are Better to Capture Solar Energy? is an article written by
David Biello, and published in May 12, 2011. With this article, Biello s purpose was to determine
that the relative efficiency of photosynthesis and photovoltaics is not a simple problem. Biello s
main purpose with this article is to open up a question to the reader of whether plants are better at
capturing solar energy than photovoltaics or vise versa, and how each process contributes to
nature. In this essay, 3 main points will be discussed how each model convert energy, what can
each model bring to nature, and how can photosynthesis be improved and still conserve real nature
animals, like insects (no enhanced bugs or plants).
David Biello discusses the difference between plants and photovoltaics, and how each model uses
and gives energy. The question opens the discussion of which model is better at cap turing solar
energy. Photovoltaic cells turn the solar energy into flowing electrons, meanwhile, plant cells turn it
into plant

Chinese Footbinding Essay
Chinese Footbinding
In addressing the subject of footbinding, one primary difficulty becomes apparent that much
remains within the realm of the unknowable. Any factual knowledge about the practice may only
be drawn from 19th and 20th century writings, drawings or photographs. In addition, many of these
documents represent a distinctly Western point of view, as they are primarily composed of
missionary accounts and the literature of the various anti footbinding societies.[1] The historical
origins of footbinding are frustratingly vague, although brief textual references suggest that small
feet for women were preferred as early as the Han dynasty. The first documented reference to the
actual binding of a foot is from the court of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gradually became the prevailing style and golden lotus became a synonym for bound feet.[5]
One notable personality who aided in the spread of footbinding was the famed writer and scholar
Zhu Xi (1130 1200 A.D.), whose commentaries on the Confucian classics would form the canon of
Neo Confucianism that would dominate Chinese intellectual and philosophical life for six
subsequent centuries. An ardent advocate of footbinding, he introduced the practice into southern
Fuijan in order to spread Chinese culture and teach proper relations between men and women,
greatly influencing other writers who mention the practice as if it were normal.[6]
Another factor contributing to the difficulty in assigning a point of time and origin to the practice
is that the spread of footbinding was neither standardized in style nor universal in practice.[7] With
local variations in method of binding, desired contours, age of initiation, paraphernalia, rituals (both
public and private), shoe patterns and terminologies, it became impossible for a master narrative to
emerge. Although some girls had their feet bound in the extreme and painful golden lotus style,
others had their feet bound in less contorted manners that merely kept the toes compressed or
limited the growth of the foot without breaking any bones.[8] In some areas and among some
social groups, such as the Hakka in southern China, women s feet were generally not bound and
even among the imperial courts of

psychology.
Elizabeth Gilbert, famed author of Eat, Pray, Love, once wrote, you spend a lot of your life
having people tell you to follow your passion... passion is hot, it burns. Every day, you can t
access that... Instead, follow your curiosity. After graduating from Terra Nova high school in
2002 I felt pressure to follow my passion and apply for a college degree to pursue it. I was
accepted to San Diego State University but declined the offer and instead enrolled in my local
community college, Skyline College. I didn t feel connected to a passion society says young
adults should feel after graduating high school. Instead, I took a few classes over two semesters
and then decided to leave the bay area where I grew up and move to Las Vegas. It was here in
Las Vegas that I discovered what I was curious about (where my curiosities lied?). Las Vegas has
an eclectic, diverse, interesting, and beautiful flow of people constantly coming in and out of the
city; and it was by observing and interacting with these people everyday that I became curious
about human behavior. After taking 10 years away from school I returned to Las Vegas College of
Southern Nevada in 2012 to receive my associates degree in psychology. I graduated with high
honors, as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and continued on by applying to the University of

The Battle of Midway Essay
The Battle of Midway dealt a devastating catastrophe for the Japanese naval and air capabilities
with destroying four carriers, one heavy cruiser, 248 aircraft, and 3,057 personnel. The
Americans lost one aircraft carrier, one destroyer, 150 aircraft, and 307 personnel. Historically,
Midway has been considered the turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II. Japan s
shipbuilding and pilot training programs were unable to keep pace in replacing their losses, while
the U.S. steadily increased its output in both areas that inevitably led denying Japan the ability to
achieve its limited policy objective: to destroy the American carrier force in the Pacific and use the

This intelligence allowed Nimitz to avoid a secondary naval battle and concentrate a surprise

Japanese carrier s striking range and hide fall under the protection of land based air at Midway.
Aligning the three carriers and land based air power was instrumental in matching and defeating
the larger and more competent Japanese fleet. On the Japanese side of intelligence, Yamamoto
believed to have the element of surprise at Midway, which was thought to draw the Americans out
of Pearl Harbor. Yamamoto had numerical naval superiority in the Pacific to defeat the Americans
at sea but remained unaware that the code breakers ascertained its operational and strategic plan
to attack at Midway. Spector argues that Japanese submarines knew the American forces were
planning something at Pearl Harbor, but the intelligence was never passed on to Yamamoto.
Additionally, Yamamoto believed that two of the American carriers were sunk at Coral Sea,
which the Yorktown was hastily being repaired in Pearl Harbor. In reality, the Japanese had no
idea where the American fleet or carriers were leading up to the Battle of Midway.
Additionally, Yamamoto was deceived by American intelligence on the location of the other two

Climate Change And Global Warming
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1General
Climate change and global warming has been warned to no longer be viewed lightly. These changes
are considered to be one of the biggest threats that being faced by nature and humanity today.
According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), climate
change can be defined as the changes of climate which is attributed either directly or indirectly
towards human activities which also able to change the composition of the global atmosphere. As
an addition to this matter, the natural climate changes seemed to change over comparable period of
time.
Generally, Malaysia might be one of the lucky countries that do not experience extensive damages
due to extreme climate changes. However, mild climate related disasters are quite frequent to
happen lately. These refer to occurrence of landslides due to excessive rainfall and strong winds
happened at the hilly and the latter, at the coastal areas causing severe damage (MET, 2010).
Environmentally, climate change in Malaysia means increase in total heavy rain falls, rising mean
sea level and possibly extreme weather. Extreme weather can be fierce and destructive. According to
the fifth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, if greenhouse gas emissions
are reduced significantly, the rise in global temperature will be about 2Вє C towards the end of
century. However, if no action should be taken due to this matter, the temperature might increase up

Utilitarian Logic in Hard Times Essay
Utilitarian Logic in Hard Times
Utilitarianism Quadruped. Graminivorous. Forty teeth, namely twenty four grinders, four eye teeth,
and twelve incisive. Sheds coat in spring...... A perfect example of a product of utilitarian
education, Bitzer defines a horse off the top of his head in a split second. Utilitarianism is the
assumption that human beings act in a way that highlights their own self interest. It is based on
factuality and leaves little room for imagination. Dickens provides three vivid examples of this
utilitarian logic in Hard Times.
The first; Mr. Thomas Gradgrind, one of the main characters in the book, was the principal of a
school in Coketown. He was a firm believer in utilitarianism and instilled this ... Show more content

How can you give a utilitarian man such as Gradgrind such power over a town? I do like how
Dickens structures the book to make one ask obvious questions such as these. Dickens does not
tell us much about the success of the other students of the school besides Bitzer, who is fairly
successful on paper, but does not have the capacity as a person to deal with life s everyday struggles.
Gradgrinds two oldest children, Tom and Louisa, are examples of how this utilitarian method
failed miserably. These children were never given the opportunity to think for themselves,
experience fun things in life, or even use their imaginations. True, they are smart people in the
factual sense but do not have the street smarts to survive. Tom is a young man who, so fed up
with his father s strictness and repetition, revolts against him and leaves home to work in Mr.
Bounderby s bank. Tom, now out from under his fathers wing, he begins to drink and gamble
heavily. Eventually, to get out of a deep gambling debt, he robs a bank and is forced to flee the
area. When Bitzer realizes that Tom has robbed the bank and catches him, Mr. Gradgrind begs
him to let Tom go, reminding him of all of the hard work that was put on him while at the school.
Ironically Bitzer, using the tools of factuality that he had learned in Gradgrinds school, replies that
the school was paid for, but it is now over and he owes nothing more. I think this is extremely

Certainly it tells us the story of high tech industry and it s products. It tells us the story of the
hoards of engineers and marketing men that built and sold to the these new machines to the world
from enormously powerful computer vendor companies of the ilk of IBM and DEC, those huge
conglomerates that once dominated the world of computing around twenty or thirty years ago.
The quotes above and those similar however, begin to lead the reader towards another far less
obvious, perhaps even subliminal, moral that underlies this tale, and this is a very human tale that
encompasses those individual stories that more often than not remain hidden in the noise. Kidder
paints for us a vivid picture of U.S. corporate dynamics in the world of high tech, but once this
background scene is set, he then begins to assemble against it the individual characters who will
play out this human drama.
I m a little suspicious of the great, overarching view. It always leaves something out, says Kidder.

how ordinary people live their lives.

Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Analysis
Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease is an infectious and transmittable form of a prion, although
extremely rare it still becomes highly fatal if infected. This disease can also be classified as a
Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) that is gained through exposure to the Bovine
Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) from contaminated cattle or meat. As this is not a
prominently spread disease around the world and considering it was only recognised in 1996 it

Why We Should Be Allowed To Chew Gum In School
Have you ever wondered if you should be allowed to chew gum in school? I think we should be
allowed to because it helps with focusing on so many things. Research shows that chewing gum
in school can help you concentrate, and remember things better. So many people say it shouldn t
be allowed in schools because of irresponsible students. They are scared that they will dispose the
gum in the wrong places. The delicious treat that many people like to chew on is a great thing for
schools everywhere! Students should be allowed to chew gum in school.
Chewing gum at school can help with memory loss. While chewing the gum, it helps you
concentrate for longer periods of time. Different research studies all came out with the same
outcome in the end. It was that chewing gum helped students remember the correct answers to
everyday tests. The continuous motion of opening and closing of the jaw helps with memory.
The hippocampus is the area of the brain that helps with memory, and it improves when you re
chewing on something. Also it takes away sleepiness, so students would be able to work for
longer periods of time. Craig Johnston, PhD, an instructor of pediatrics nutrition at the Baylor
College of medicine, led a study with 108 8th grade students. (Hendrick, 2009) He did this to see
if chewing gum really did help in school. Johnston split the group into two groups for the study.

that the Irish capital is paralysed by Catholicism, by the English imperialism, by grave poverty and
social injustice (Boyson). Irelandwas still reeling from the famine the occurred fifty years earlier.

An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Essay
An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution
Where did we come from? It is a question that has haunted the entire history of humanity. Thousands
of years ago, our ancestors sought to answer the question with myths. Today, we are still struggling
with the same question only today we seek to answer this mystery with science.
Given various observations, it seems plausible that all life arose from a few very simple organisms
millions of years ago. Observations of life will raise two important (though almost paradoxical)
questions: Why are there so many different kinds of life? And why do there appear to be some
over riding similarities among organisms? The diversity of life is apparent in the vast number of
different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If all life on earth arose from one common ancestor it makes sense that they should have common
characteristics. Once the theory of evolution is accepted, there is still disagreement as the how
evolution occurred. This will be the focus of my paper.
Until quite recently, neo Darwinism as defined as the combination of Darwin s theory of
evolution of the species through gradual change guided by natural selection coupled with modern
genetics was accepted as THE theory of evolution. However, lately neo Darwinism has fallen out
of favor. Since neo Darwinism has always been the most widely Observations in nature would
appear to support the claims of Neo Darwinism. Just as Darwin hypothesized, organisms in nature
do produce more offspring than can survive and reproduce given the constraints of the
environment. (12) Richard Milton argues, however, that evolution does not arise from survival of
the fittest , but rather survival of the most prolific . (13) This argument is valid to a point.
However, if an organism has a characteristic that enables it to survive longer than its peers that
organism will have time to breed more times and therefore have more offspring.
Neo Darwinism rests on the theory that random genetic mutations over thousands of generations
resulted in evolution. And there have been studies proving that genetic mutations could serve as the
mechanism by which evolution occurs. A group of scientists in London discovered a way in which

The Argument Of Violent Video Games
Learning is a deep human need, like mating and eating, and like all such needs it is meant to be
deeply pleasurable to human beings. ― James Paul Gee, Why Video Games Are Good for Your
Soul: Pleasure and Learning. Some people have controversial argument that violent video games
should be banned, claiming about the content of video games can change the behavior and
attitudes of the players. Since the early 2000s, advocates of video games have emphasized their
use as an expressive medium, arguing for their protection under the laws governing freedom of
speech and also as an educational tool. Violent video games allow players to divert their
aggression into the virtual world instead of the real one. Video games have become not only a
form of entertainment, but also another way for people to escape reality and to enter their own
virtual fantasy. James Gee explains that, if you blame violent video games for horrific events that
have occurred is much like putting the blame on food for the cause of obesity. According to the
Entertainment Software Association (ESA), 58 percent of all Americans playvideo games, and
nearly half of Americans over 50 play. The organization also found that 45 percent of gamers are
women and that the average gamer is 30 years old. Gameplayis also on the rise one study shows that
average daily video gameplay among kids ages 8 to 18 rose from 26 minutes per day in 1999 to
almost 110 minutes (nearly two hours) per day by 2009. The numbers are even higher for boys,
25 percent of whom play video games for four or more hours per day. Violent video games should
not be ban because violent video games can be good for developing cognitive, physical, and many
more hidden skills, help to understand and learn to control emotions, and banning violent video
games is against the fourteenth amendment of the United States.
Violent video games strengthen and coordinate to visual skills. Researchers from the University
of Rochester found, people who frequently play video games have better visual skills of their
surroundings. Than people who do not or rarely play any video game. This means people who play
videogames, are better suit around his or her surrounding and could help improve our society. Many

At that same moment a badger blundered out of the cave. LionWhisker leaped at the badger

The Theory Behind Absolute Advantage
Over many years there has been many conceptual theories devised to help explain the reasons
why there is trade within the world accompanied by the possibilities that gains could or could not
be made. This piece of work will examine four main theories put forward by Adam Smith
(Absolute advantage, 1776) which was then expanded on by David Ricardo with his theory of the
Ricardian Model (Comparative advantage, 1817). Also including the Heckscher Ohlin model
(relative factor abundance, 1919, 1933) and the ideas of New Trade Theory (Economies of Scale
and Imperfect Competition). These ideas will be evaluated and synthesised to see if these
explanations truly explain the reasons of trade theory.
Absolute advantage was an idea suggest by Adam Smith in 1817. The theory behind absolute
advantage suggests that if a country is highly skilled and efficient in producing a certain good
with the fewer resources, then it is believed that a specific country has an absolute advantage in
the production of that good (Sloman Garratt, 2013). However Absolute advantage can only occur
if the country using its resources for a specific good/service does so efficiently otherwise no gains
are made from trading. Although it can be argued that the idea of Absolute advantage does not
particularly make much sense in explaining trade patterns. As said in Feenstra s and Taylors book,
Absolute advantage does not particularly help to explain the case of why the US imports
snowboards from places like China

Tolleson, Arizon A Short Story
Thick layers of grey smoke floods the once empty street of Tolleson, Arizona. About 20 eyes are
pressing onto me as if they were a group of 1000. This feeling scares me, but somehow deep
down, it pleases me. I feel as if some sort of key information has been wiped from my memory.
As more and more of the smoke clears, my memory is coming back further and further. These
memories haunt me. They won t reveal what they are. Only the emotions from these memories
leak out. Hiding beneath the smoke is a vast space craft. In a flash of light, the door has been
drawn open and dozens of human like shadows are standing in a straight horizontal line. Only the
silence of all these creatures talks to us. The creature in the middle of the line steps forward... Show

the spacecraft that once overlaid the aliens had disappeared. Now the aliens faces were being
shown clear as daylight. Their head was three times bigger than body. Their faces had huge
bugly eyes about the size of basketballs accompanied by two nostrils without the nose structure
and a mouth with no lips. The head was about the size of a beach ball. Their skin color was a
greenish grey color. The body was skinny and flat chested with a round belly. Their arms were
long and had short stubby legs to go along with them. Their voices were squeaky and sounded as
if it could come from some sort of rodent. No ears were visible on their body, so I wonder how
they can hear. Each alien looked exactly alike with the same traits in the same areas. Every alien
must be a clone. Only the middle alien has different features. It s head is five times bigger than
its body and its eyes are 2 times bigger than the regular alien eyes. It was much taller, too. It also
carried a five foot torch that bursted with powerful energy. As soon as the phone rang, the

Indigenous Discrimination Faced By Indigenous Australians
The 1967 Referendum
The 1967 referendum concerned the amendment of the discriminatory clauses regarding the
Indigenous race within the Australian constitution. Although the 1967 referendum led to the
increased awareness of the Indigenous disadvantage, the referendum only had a moderate impact on
the advancement of Indigenous rights, due to the slow progression of legislation and
implementation of changes that addressed Indigenous disadvantage. Leading up to the 1967
referendum, Indigenous Australians faced many political and social restrictions rendering them
second classed citizens, hence the majority of campaigns in favour of the yes vote emphasised these
issues to the public eye. Although the referendum yielded a yes vote of 90.77%, the immediate
repercussions following this referendum saw no significant difference to the lives of Indigenous
Australians. Furthermore, in contemporary Australian times, the inclusivity of Indigenous
Australians in the census coupled with the addition of legislation in addressing the Indigenous
disadvantage has built the foundation necessary to further Indigenous rights. Thus, the 1967
referendum ultimately highlighted and challenged the racial discrimination faced by Indigenous
Australians.
During the 1960 s, advocates of the 1967 referendum built their campaigns on the political and
social implications faced by Indigenous Australians, due to the Commonwealth Constitution.
Advocates saw the removal of the offending clauses as a way to

Suspension bridges are able to work efficiently because of their cables, which are interesting from a
mathematical perspective.
Since the bridge s deck spans a long distance, it must be very heavy in weight by its own, not to
mention all the weight of the heavy load of traffic that it must carry. Because of all this weight,
this results in two active forces: compression and tension. The cable s parabolic shape results in
order for it to effectively address these forces acting upon the bridge. For instance, the deck sags
from all the weight of the traffic because of compression forces, which travels upwards the cables.
The cables then transfer those compression forces downwards the vertical towers, down into the
foundations buried deep within the earth. However, the cables receive the brunt of the tension
forces, as they are supporting the bridge s weight and its load of traffic, being stretched by the
anchors ends

The Advantages Of Distance Education Vs. Traditional...
Distance education is a unique type of education that is available online. Lessons are given, along
with assignments; assignments are then completed and submitted through the internet. This type of
education is an alternative to traditional education. It is not for everyone; however, it has become
popular among people who work or stay at home. While distance educationhas its defects overall, it
s a great way to start or finish post secondary education. Nevertheless, distance education can help
people who decide to take this step. One of the advantages of distance education is its
convenience; imagine getting a college education without having to move to another city or state.
With online education, you can benefit from that and many other things. Online education is a
great way to get educated if one is unable or not ready to move. I am benefiting from this
convenient way of learning, and so far, it s been great. Besides its convenience, distance
education also has a better price. The cost of distance education is lower than traditional
education. Tuition itself can result up to four hundred dollars cheaper online than on a campus.
While four hundred dollars may not seem like a big difference after a while, four hundred dollars
can accumulate into a lot of money. Apart from tuition one can also save on other things like
gasoline and parking fees. Since the educating is taking place online, the only thing needed is
internet; there is no need to buy gasoline since one

The Timeless Quality of the Foundations of Excellent...
Foundations of Excellent Leadership Are Timeless
Introduction
It is often said that a manager is what one does and leader is who one is. This is especially the
case during times of turbulent economic, social and political change. In the debate of whether the
effectiveness of a leader s communication skills is dependent on their age or generation, one must
take into account one of the most critical skills in any leaders skill set, and that is emotional
intelligence (EI) (Avolio, Yammarino, 2002). Great leadershipis timeless as it is predicated on
respect and motivation of subordinates and peers and subordinates, along with a very clear focus
on results attained through shared vision. It is the intent of this analysis to show that
transformational leadership is timeliness because it is predicated on principles applicable to each
generation. The impact of technology on leadership is to accelerate transparency and trust across
entire organizations when transformational leaders are driving progress to shared goals and
objectives (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Technology will amplify excellent leadership and shine a very
bright light on mediocre and inferior leadership over time (Gilley, Dixon, Gilley, 2008).
Analysis Of Transformational Leadership Across Generations
The core, foundational elements of transformational leadership are more predicated on Emotional
Intelligence (EI), charisma, communication and collaboration capacity than any topically driven or
short term attribute

Animal Persuasive Speech
Hiding behind a big boulder in the hot and sunny Africa is a man holding a shotgun, he spots the
large male lion that he has been tracking for two whole weeks, he aims and you hear the gun
sounding and the male lion falls to the ground. All the man wanted was to say that that was the
was the lion he killed. As of being a kid, I have more of an imagination which makes me think
more and want to come up with ways to help solve problems and figure out how they affect us. As
well, I like animals a lot, so if the animalsthat are endangered are or have been being killed I am
or would like to have a say or help stop it. When I was researching my topic, I had been finding
the perfect articles and videos to get important and correct information. How many animals die
each year. Do they have any laws or anyone to stop the animal poaching? This was my driving
question: How can I convince people to help stop others from killing the animals for no reason?
Once I finished my research, I understood that in some way it is possible to help stop animal
poaching. One of the biggest problems going on right now is that illegal hunters are killing
endangered animals just because of their skin or just as a trophy hunt. It may not seem like it more
and more animals are becoming close to being endangered to almost extinct. This is happening all
because of one thing that makes a chain of events, that is just killing the animals. The problems that
it causes is lack of food, extinction, and lack in reproducing. The reasons that those are problems
is because the lack of food means that the animals in the food chain that die that are supposed to
be food for other animals are dying and can t feed the other animals, and they die from starvation
and it will eventually destroy the whole food chain. With the food part being said the animals
have less and less reproduced because males are dying and it is not possible, with this cause is
less and fewer offsprings each year. As well, both these problems lead to one exact thing,
extinction. I think that the world should try and help stop this because it is a serious problem and
it is illegal. As well, with no animals, the world is not complete and all the things that the animals do

ICD-9-CM Coding Classification System
Similar to the previous study, the ICD 9 CM coding classification system was used for case

For both bacterial infections, some researchers recommend that to eliminate persistent
infections, it should use a laboratory test after the first infection before estimating the number of
repeat infections. In contrast, other researchers consider that the infected patient should be
asymptomatic for at least two weeks before counting as a new infection. However, the majority
of researchers set a number of days after the initial infection to determine the burden of repeat
infections (Hillis et al., 1994; Richey et al., 1999; Barnett and Brundage, 2001; Burstein et al.,
2001). The most common time frame for consideration as a repeat infection for CT and NG is
that diagnosed 30 days or more after the preceding infection. This minimal time interval is based
on the evidence that nucleic acid amplification tests may occasionally detect residual chlamydia
deoxyribonucleic acid or ribonucleic acid to three weeks after antimicrobial therapy
(Workowski et al., 1996; Gaydos et al., 1998; Morre et al., 1998; Xu et al., 2000). For this study

Outsourcing, Or The Movement Of Internal Jobs
Outsourcing, or the movement of internal jobs to an international location, is one of the defining
processes of business growth and economic management in the twenty first century. However, its
many benefits, such as cheaper labor costs and greater production rates, also cause a wide range of
problems worldwide. As outsourcing becomes an increasingly popular economic option among
developed nations, to what extent should outsourcing continue to be adopted in the United States?
Job loss, decreased productivity, and decreased profit are all problems associated with outsourcing,
and they were detriments that the residents of Youngstown, Ohio, discovered on September 19,
1977 when the city lost 50,000 jobs and $1.3 billion in manufacturing ... Show more content on

Beyond the domestic economy, outsourcing could mean better political and economic relations
with foreign countries and possibly a brighter future for global diplomacy and policy. Many,
however, still do not understand or believe in the international unifying ability of outsourcing,
and some believe it will cause countries to become unstable or unable to rely on its internal
infrastructure. For example, the well versed international law firm of Morrison and Foerster
asserts that more than 200 [bills to restrict outsourcing] exist in 2004 , it is well known that this
number has been steadily rising since 2004, and the American fear of losing jobs to outsourcing
has grown alongside the increase in restrictive policy, but outsourcing can still create hope
instead of fear (Technology Transactions). It is because of massive amounts of political policy,
against something that could be beneficial to society, that people have begun to fear outsourcing,
but if done properly, (not overused, or over encompassing), outsourcing can bring major benefits
to the government, society, and economy. While the benefits could lead to more peaceful foreign
relations through commerce, the domestic fear of losing jobs and motivation in the workforce
due to outsourcing can be seen as far back as Richard Nixon s Labor Day address in 1971 where
President Nixon states that going to work and energizing the American workforce will achieve a
new prosperity in a full

Lyt2 Simple Getaways
OVERVIEW
Due to several years of growth, Simple Getaways, Inc. (SGI) has expanded from a single California
office to twelve offices distributed throughout the western United States with approximately 270
employees. Methods of communication and data storage that are currently being used were
adequate for a single office but are no longer sufficient to meet the needs of Simple Getaways, Inc.
This proposal will address the requirements for file storage and management, collaborative
communication, information sharing within and between offices and the automation of
administrative workflow.

The file being accessed should always be the most current version of the document within the
organization.
At present, each SGI office location stores its electronic files on a Windows server located at
that office. This makes accessing the files difficult for other offices. The goal is to make all SGI
files equally accessible to all SGI locations. When an employee wants to access a document, they
shouldn t need to worry about the location where the file is stored or have to involve other
employees in the process of obtaining the document.
Presently Simple Getaways uses paper based workflow in order to process standard
administrative tasks, such as vacation requests, sick leave and employee records. The desired
process involves this workflow taking place electronically. Rather than filling out a paper forms
and physically delivering them to the appropriate party, computerized forms should be made
available with the option to be delivered immediately.
TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTION
There are a variety of hosted cloud based services that can fulfil the document management and
communication needs of Simple Getaways. The recommendation for Simple Getaways is to use a
service called TeamLab Office. This service was chosen for its numerous features, ease of use,
quick implementation and reasonable pricing.
TeamLab Office will be used for document storage instead of the individual file servers located at

Compare And Contrast Memoirs Of A Geisha By Margaret Atwood
The Handmaid s Tale written by Margaret Atwood and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
are novels of women in two different societies in which live the plague of oppressing women.
These stories portray how women are physically and psychologically tortured, one in a dystopic
society and the other in realistic society. Margaret Attwood s The Handmaid s Tale takes place in
a totalitarian but theocratic state which has replaced the United States of America. It is because of
the extremely low fertility rates, fruitful women such as Offered are assigned to be surrogate
mothers for the elite couples of the state now known as Gilead. These Handmaid s are not

involves both local, state, federal, and non government agencies that works seamlessly together to
provide a response that if followed properly can be proven to have a successful ending to an
emergency situation. The most important concept behind the National Response Framework is that

  • 2. A Film Review Of Night And Fog The movie, Night and Fog was filmed in 1955 portraying all of the disgusting acts that were performed and happened to the people throughout the Nazi Concentration Camps. This movie captured many pictures and multiple clips containing the horror that the Nazi s were put through. I really enjoyed this movie because it was compelling and hit pretty close to home. My father, who is Jewish, had ancestors that were involved in the concentration camps and it pains him every time he has to talk about it. Me on the other hand, I find it fascinating to talk about the past events. Watching this movie really opened my eyes to say the least. The movie, being in French, made the movie more mysterious and very puzzling. It made me leave with questions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Chaos In Lord Of The Flies Essay The quote, Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered, by Jose Saramago, explains the importance of keeping order in civilization. When order does not exist or is not enforced, civilization begins to collapse or breaks down which, in turn, proceeds to ensue chaos. When Piggy discovers the conch in the story, Lord of The Flies, by William Golding, he uses it to establish order on the island, but when he dies order ceases to exist. The first line in the poem, In A Dark Time, is eerily similar to the boys situation of order and civility on the island. When Piggy first observed the conch in the beginning of the story he decided that they should use that conch to preserve order in the tribe. Piggy explains to the group, We can use... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Piggy s death the boys on the island could not be more divided. The boys had split into two groups, Jack and his tribe and Ralph who is now alone due to Piggy s death. Dark, darker my light, and darker my desire, (Stanza 3), as said by Roethke. The boys are only falling into deeper chaos on the island, and are continuing to become more savage. Jack s desires, in particular, are becoming darker because he proceeds to throw spears and hunt down Ralph after he had witnessed Piggy s death. This is a great representation of how the boys are becoming more barbaric with the actions that they are taking. At first the boys desires were to get rescued. However, now Jack is coming to the realization that they will probably not be rescued and he wants to hunt down and kill Ralph. Jack starts reinstating to the boys on the island that he is their leader. Piggy s death is the symbolization of the breakdown of order and the beginning of disunity on the island. This breakdown of order is clearly delineated in the book. Jack sees the chance to kill Ralph right after Piggy is killed because Ralph is vulnerable, and alone against Jack and his tribe. Jack takes it upon himself to declare himself as the leader, I m chief! (Page 181). Jack sees the opportunity to proclaim himself as leader of the boys after Piggy dies and the conch is destroyed. Jack then proceeds to barrage Ralph with spears in an attempt to kill him, Viciously, with full intention, he hurled the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Similarities Of Mother Teresa And Angelina Jolie Who do you look up to? Many different people are considered an inspiration for many different reasons. When looking at Mother Teresa and Angelina Jolie, you may not immediately see a whole lot of similarities. The things that come to my mind when I think of them is their fame or popularity, their way of inspiring thousands, and the controversy behind their names. Their popularity may be the biggest thing they share. They are hugely known all around the world, although their popularity may be more well known to more past generations compared to the newer ones. Mother Teresa is known for her catholic religion and her devotion to it. When she was just eighteen she felt the desire to become a missionary, in September 1928 she took off to fulfill that dream. On May 24, 1937 she made her final vows to her religion and after that she was called Mother Teresa. She traveled the world spreading word of love and her religion. She s helped many in need, this is how she got her popularity. Angelina Joliebegan her study of theatre at age eleven, five years later she started modeling and was in a few music videos. Her big launch into fame was in 1999 in the movie The Bone Collector. As you can see they made their way to fame in two pretty different ways, but they actually are well known for one thing in common. They are both humanitarians. Angelina Jolie became interested in humanitarian work after her first adoption from Cambodia in 2002. She adopted three kids overall, and shares three with her now divorced husband, Brad Pitt. Mother Teresa became dedicated humanitarian work after her final vows. Both were born and raised with influence in their legacies. With fame comes inspiration. Both women traveled the world, although for different reasons both gained knowledge from their travels. Mother Teresa met many in need of help while spreading the word of love from Jesus. If you look up Mother Teresa it is likely you will find the webpage dedicated to her, on this page you will find many testimonies from lots of people, whether they knew her personally, admired her, or were helped by her. She has lived a life devoted to her religion, and when her question of faith was released to the public many found it admirable and saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

WHITE P APER Sponsored by: Compuware David Tapper January 2013 THE CHANGING ENTERPR ISE Today s enterprises are under tremendous pressure to keep pace with a rapidly changing marketplace while supporting employees, customers, and consumers who are using an entirely new set of capabilities to meet their needs. Capabilities such as social media, cloud services, analytics, and mobility are enabling users and buyers to localize and personalize specific needs to do a variety of tasks, whether for professional or personal purposes. In such business cases, critical factors will involve security, accuracy of information, compliance, and regulation. пЃ№ Impact of millennial generation and globalization on mobility. Members of the expanding millennial generation (loosely defined as people born between the early 1980s and the late 1990s) will as they move up the corporate ladder increasingly drive dramatic changes in how enterprises utilize mobility. Much of this is driven by factors such as their ease of leveraging the world of online and what increasingly are referred to as cloud services through which they can essentially perform any task, professionally or personally, via a basic Web connection and, now, a mobile device and do so anywhere in the world. www.idc.com Global Headquarters: 5 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701 USA P.508.872.8200 F.508.935.4015 п Ѓ№ Increased role of social media in business environments. Employees are increasingly using social media as part of doing business, such as for sales, marketing, and customer support or, in unfortunate cases, damage control. Combining mobility with social media presents enterprises with significant opportunities such as targeting new customers for sales or providing improved customer service. However, it also presents new potential challenges such as how to analyze the vast volumes of Big Data to benefit the business and how to integrate the appropriate business processes and functions. пЃ№ Utilizing business analytics to ... Carnegie implies that the men make money for not only themselves but others. By survival of the fittest, Carnegie means that the most capable people will succeed and prosper, while the others fail. She is, in fact, the point on which the action pivots: without her there is no play. The purpose of this essay is to describe Lady Macbeth s role in the play and discuss why this makes her the most fascinating character. Her evil doings are the main reasons why she dominates the plot so greatly. These include the following: considers Macbeth to be a wimp not wanting to murder; letting Macbeth fulfill her plan; taking control over Macbeth s thoughts and actions; turning Macbeth from a loyal man to a greedy, coldhearted human being. Eventually Macbeth decides against the murder of his king but Lady Macbeth shames him for not being able to murder, threatening to take away her love from him if he does not. This threat shocks Macbeth into saying yes . Lady Macbeth outlines her plan to kill King Duncan while asleep as a guest in their castle. • 9. Economic And Social Conditions On The Health Of People And... From the Lecture: 1.
Many health outcomes such as obesity, average life expectancy, the infant mortality are directly related to the inequality within a society. Poor health and poverty are directly related to each other as the poverty level increases the health outcomes worsens. Inequality causes. We all know that people who live in poorer countries live shorter lives and this is directly related to the inequality. Unequally access to the healthcare, food, housing, education. Job that does not come with stress. 2.I think that economic and social conditions effect the health of people and communities. Economic and social conditions are resulted by the amount of money people have, by power, and by available resources and all of these are influenced by the policies. In short, if you are closer to the top of the chart, you are healthier because you have access to the resources to stay healthy which are good education, a job that pays good, quality healthcare, nutrition, housing, social support, and of course no discrimination. 3.When I think about illness is socially constructed the first thing that comes to my mind how the society sees the evilness and how people define it and how they react it. For example, here in the US when I go see a doctor, doctors do not want to prescribe a medication unless I am dying because they get paid by the insurance companies if they do not prescribe too much medicines. The United States has developed The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, also known as the EEOC, to enforce laws that help prevent everyone from being treated unfairly when it comes to employment options. The EEOC has established stipulations and overlooks all of the federal equal employment opportunity regulations, practices and policies ( Federal Laws Prohibiting Job DiscriminationQuestions and Answers ). In conclusion the EPA indicates that any other factor other than sex may be used to justify different pay rates (Gomez Mejia, Luis R.). Industries of commerce and productions of goods for commerce have depressed wages and standards of living based on sex which resulted in the declaration of purpose. The EPA is necessary for every one s health and efficiency. The purpose of declaration is that discrimination of sex in the work force prevents the most efficient level of labor resources, causes problems with in the labor force, prevents and burdens commerce and symbolizes an unfair competition between individuals. This is one of the reasons why the EPA is created to solve these complications. If employers use sex discrimination in the work force they will face penalties. Some penalties are fines and imprisonment, employers are liable for damages done to the employee, employer must pay wages and compensation that was held from the employee and the employer must provide savings provisions ( The Equal Pay Act of 1963 ). • 11. Mexico City Policy Current Event Mexico City Policy Current Event The Mexico City Policy, also known by opponents as The Global Gag Rule , was originally introduced as an executive order by president Ronald Reagan in 1984. The policy was made to withhold U.S. family planning, funding and assistance from foreign NGOs (non profits) that include reproductive health organizations and included private hospitals and clinics that perform or publicize abortions. In countries where abortionis permitted, the policy prohibits health workers at NGOs that receive U.S. funding from offering abortion as an option or referring women to a provider (PAI). The Mexico City Policyhad exceptions for those who had abortions done in response to rape, incest, or life threatening conditions. When active, this policy could erase any progress made by the women that lack access to today s modern contraceptives. The global gag rule forces organizations to prioritize which communities they want to serve: women seeking abortions or all other women, children and families (Jones, 2004). This policy was then revoked by President Obama in 2009. Currently, supporters are making sure that in the future presidents, like Trump, can t rescind the policy without Congress. It was originally thought to be a way to control the world s growing population by saying abortion is the same thing as family planning. This is not true. • 12. Dolphins Persuasive Why Should We Save the Dolphins? Final Draft By: Emily Chang Class: 6(2) Subject: English Teacher: Mr. Kris(Smith) Imagine you are a dolphin swimming happily in the ocean with the other dolphins. Suddenly, you hear something terrible, and that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. You swim towards somewhere safe to get away from that terrible sound. However, when you get in, you realize it is a trap! You have been caught! You might be sent to an aquarium or killed to be made into sushi. This unfortunate fate is not a dream, but it is a sad reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent dolphins. They are endangered of becoming extinct and their main predators are us, humans. Our society needs to do something to preserve and protect our precious dolphins. Dolphins should be saved because they are an endangered species, it is cruel to kill such intelligent animals and they are not even safe to eat. Dolphins: An Endangered Species There are many kinds of dolphins in the world. The most common one that we see in theme parks, aquariums and movies is the Bottlenose Dolphin. Pride And Prejudice Essay Pride and Prejudice: Marriage Essay written by Maria Engstrom Introduction For this essay, I chose to read the perhaps most famous book by the English author Jane Austen. During the reading I was thinking about which theme I should choose to write about and analyze, and eventually I felt that marriage was the central keyword in the book. I will concentrate on the situation of the daughters in the family, since these are the best described in the novel. My dealing with different ideals and problems within a marriage will be illustrated with examples from the text. Analysis quot;Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. The statement reflects the situation for women in the novel and during this period. No professions (politics, university related etc.) were open for women of the genteel classes, so independence on the woman s hand almost never occurred. The only quot;profession quot; available was that of being a governess, which meant educating the daughters of a family, but this was a job with low working conditions and lowly paid. The debate over whether breast feeding is better than bottle feeding or vice versa has been a debate for many years. This in other words, is the process through which plants use carbon dioxide and water to grow, produce their food, and release ex cess of oxygen into the air. Plants versus Photovoltaics: Which Are Better to Capture Solar Energy? is an article written by David Biello, and published in May 12, 2011. With this article, Biello s purpose was to determine that the relative efficiency of photosynthesis and photovoltaics is not a simple problem. Biello s main purpose with this article is to open up a question to the reader of whether plants are better at capturing solar energy than photovoltaics or vise versa, and how each process contributes to nature. In this essay, 3 main points will be discussed how each model convert energy, what can each model bring to nature, and how can photosynthesis be improved and still conserve real nature animals, like insects (no enhanced bugs or plants). Any factual knowledge about the practice may only be drawn from 19th and 20th century writings, drawings or photographs. In addition, many of these documents represent a distinctly Western point of view, as they are primarily composed of missionary accounts and the literature of the various anti footbinding societies.[1] The historical origins of footbinding are frustratingly vague, although brief textual references suggest that small feet for women were preferred as early as the Han dynasty. It gradually became the prevailing style and golden lotus became a synonym for bound feet.[5] One notable personality who aided in the spread of footbinding was the famed writer and scholar Zhu Xi (1130 1200 A.D.), whose commentaries on the Confucian classics would form the canon of Neo Confucianism that would dominate Chinese intellectual and philosophical life for six subsequent centuries. An ardent advocate of footbinding, he introduced the practice into southern Fuijan in order to spread Chinese culture and teach proper relations between men and women, greatly influencing other writers who mention the practice as if it were normal.[6] Another factor contributing to the difficulty in assigning a point of time and origin to the practice is that the spread of footbinding was neither standardized in style nor universal in practice.[7] With local variations in method of binding, desired contours, age of initiation, paraphernalia, rituals (both public and private), shoe patterns and terminologies, it became impossible for a master narrative to emerge. Although some girls had their feet bound in the extreme and painful golden lotus style, others had their feet bound in less contorted manners that merely kept the toes compressed or limited the growth of the foot without breaking any bones.[8] In some areas and among some social groups, such as the Hakka in southern China, women s feet were generally not bound and even among the imperial courts of ... As this is not a prominently spread disease around the world and considering it was only recognised in 1996 it has only held 175 cases in the United Kingdom, 25 in Spain, 4 in Ireland, 3 in the Netherlands and the United States of America, 2 each in Canada, Italy and Portugal as well as 1 each in japan, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan (World Health Organization, 2012). There are some similarities in these two diseases, they are both able to rapidly infect cells ; the Dengue virus simply fight back the cells attacking it and infect them whilst Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease uses axoplamic travel to infect more prion proteins as they go. The cellular response to the Dengue virus entails monocytes and macrophages ingesting and destroying infected cells, interferons being produced to help fight the virus, B and T cells working to detect and attack with antibodies and lastly the use of the complement system to release white blood cells as well as other antibodies to remove the virus from the host (National Library of Medicine, ... • 35. Why We Should Be Allowed To Chew Gum In School Have you ever wondered if you should be allowed to chew gum in school? I think we should be allowed to because it helps with focusing on so many things. Research shows that chewing gum in school can help you concentrate, and remember things better. So many people say it shouldn t be allowed in schools because of irresponsible students. They are scared that they will dispose the gum in the wrong places. The delicious treat that many people like to chew on is a great thing for schools everywhere! Students should be allowed to chew gum in school. Chewing gum at school can help with memory loss. While chewing the gum, it helps you concentrate for longer periods of time. Different research studies all came out with the same outcome in the end. It was that chewing gum helped students remember the correct answers to everyday tests. The continuous motion of opening and closing of the jaw helps with memory. The hippocampus is the area of the brain that helps with memory, and it improves when you re chewing on something. Also it takes away sleepiness, so students would be able to work for longer periods of time. Craig Johnston, PhD, an instructor of pediatrics nutrition at the Baylor College of medicine, led a study with 108 8th grade students. (Hendrick, 2009) He did this to see if chewing gum really did help in school. Johnston split the group into two groups for the study. The suffering was of the Irish was immense during this time in history, due to the struggle of against the English occupation of Ireland. An observation made about Dublin during the early 1900 s was that the Irish capital is paralysed by Catholicism, by the English imperialism, by grave poverty and social injustice (Boyson). • 39. An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Essay An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Where did we come from? It is a question that has haunted the entire history of humanity. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors sought to answer the question with myths. Today, we are still struggling with the same question only today we seek to answer this mystery with science. Given various observations, it seems plausible that all life arose from a few very simple organisms millions of years ago. Observations of life will raise two important (though almost paradoxical) questions: Why are there so many different kinds of life? And why do there appear to be some over riding similarities among organisms? The diversity of life is apparent in the vast number of different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If all life on earth arose from one common ancestor it makes sense that they should have common characteristics. Once the theory of evolution is accepted, there is still disagreement as the how evolution occurred. This will be the focus of my paper. Until quite recently, neo Darwinism as defined as the combination of Darwin s theory of evolution of the species through gradual change guided by natural selection coupled with modern genetics was accepted as THE theory of evolution. However, lately neo Darwinism has fallen out of favor. Since neo Darwinism has always been the most widely Observations in nature would appear to support the claims of Neo Darwinism. Just as Darwin hypothesized, organisms in nature do produce more offspring than can survive and reproduce given the constraints of the environment. (12) Richard Milton argues, however, that evolution does not arise from survival of the fittest , but rather survival of the most prolific . (13) This argument is valid to a point. However, if an organism has a characteristic that enables it to survive longer than its peers that organism will have time to breed more times and therefore have more offspring. Neo Darwinism rests on the theory that random genetic mutations over thousands of generations resulted in evolution. And there have been studies proving that genetic mutations could serve as the mechanism by which evolution occurs. A group of scientists in London discovered a way in which ... The Argument Of Violent Video Games Learning is a deep human need, like mating and eating, and like all such needs it is meant to be deeply pleasurable to human beings. ― James Paul Gee, Why Video Games Are Good for Your Soul: Pleasure and Learning. Some people have controversial argument that violent video games should be banned, claiming about the content of video games can change the behavior and attitudes of the players. Since the early 2000s, advocates of video games have emphasized their use as an expressive medium, arguing for their protection under the laws governing freedom of speech and also as an educational tool. Violent video games allow players to divert their aggression into the virtual world instead of the real one. Video games have become not only a form of entertainment, but also another way for people to escape reality and to enter their own virtual fantasy. James Gee explains that, if you blame violent video games for horrific events that have occurred is much like putting the blame on food for the cause of obesity. According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), 58 percent of all Americans playvideo games, and nearly half of Americans over 50 play. The organization also found that 45 percent of gamers are women and that the average gamer is 30 years old. Gameplayis also on the rise one study shows that average daily video gameplay among kids ages 8 to 18 rose from 26 minutes per day in 1999 to almost 110 minutes (nearly two hours) per day by 2009. The numbers are even higher for boys, 25 percent of whom play video games for four or more hours per day. Violent video games should not be ban because violent video games can be good for developing cognitive, physical, and many more hidden skills, help to understand and learn to control emotions, and banning violent video games is against the fourteenth amendment of the United States. Violent video games strengthen and coordinate to visual skills. Researchers from the University of Rochester found, people who frequently play video games have better visual skills of their surroundings. Than people who do not or rarely play any video game. This means people who play videogames, are better suit around his or her surrounding and could help improve our society. Many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Theory Behind Absolute Advantage Over many years there has been many conceptual theories devised to help explain the reasons why there is trade within the world accompanied by the possibilities that gains could or could not be made. This piece of work will examine four main theories put forward by Adam Smith (Absolute advantage, 1776) which was then expanded on by David Ricardo with his theory of the Ricardian Model (Comparative advantage, 1817). Also including the Heckscher Ohlin model (relative factor abundance, 1919, 1933) and the ideas of New Trade Theory (Economies of Scale and Imperfect Competition). These ideas will be evaluated and synthesised to see if these explanations truly explain the reasons of trade theory. Absolute advantage was an idea suggest by Adam Smith in 1817. The theory behind absolute advantage suggests that if a country is highly skilled and efficient in producing a certain good with the fewer resources, then it is believed that a specific country has an absolute advantage in the production of that good (Sloman Garratt, 2013). However Absolute advantage can only occur if the country using its resources for a specific good/service does so efficiently otherwise no gains are made from trading. Although it can be argued that the idea of Absolute advantage does not particularly make much sense in explaining trade patterns. As said in Feenstra s and Taylors book, Absolute advantage does not particularly help to explain the case of why the US imports snowboards from places like China ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Indigenous Discrimination Faced By Indigenous Australians The 1967 Referendum The 1967 referendum concerned the amendment of the discriminatory clauses regarding the Indigenous race within the Australian constitution. Although the 1967 referendum led to the increased awareness of the Indigenous disadvantage, the referendum only had a moderate impact on the advancement of Indigenous rights, due to the slow progression of legislation and implementation of changes that addressed Indigenous disadvantage. Leading up to the 1967 referendum, Indigenous Australians faced many political and social restrictions rendering them second classed citizens, hence the majority of campaigns in favour of the yes vote emphasised these issues to the public eye. Although the referendum yielded a yes vote of 90.77%, the immediate repercussions following this referendum saw no significant difference to the lives of Indigenous Australians. Furthermore, in contemporary Australian times, the inclusivity of Indigenous Australians in the census coupled with the addition of legislation in addressing the Indigenous disadvantage has built the foundation necessary to further Indigenous rights. Thus, the 1967 referendum ultimately highlighted and challenged the racial discrimination faced by Indigenous Australians. During the 1960 s, advocates of the 1967 referendum built their campaigns on the political and social implications faced by Indigenous Australians, due to the Commonwealth Constitution. Because of all this weight, this results in two active forces: compression and tension. The cable s parabolic shape results in order for it to effectively address these forces acting upon the bridge. For instance, the deck sags from all the weight of the traffic because of compression forces, which travels upwards the cables. The cables then transfer those compression forces downwards the vertical towers, down into the foundations buried deep within the earth. However, the cables receive the brunt of the tension forces, as they are supporting the bridge s weight and its load of traffic, being stretched by the anchors ends ... • 49. The Timeless Quality of the Foundations of Excellent... Foundations of Excellent Leadership Are Timeless Introduction It is often said that a manager is what one does and leader is who one is. This is especially the case during times of turbulent economic, social and political change. In the debate of whether the effectiveness of a leader s communication skills is dependent on their age or generation, one must take into account one of the most critical skills in any leaders skill set, and that is emotional intelligence (EI) (Avolio, Yammarino, 2002). Great leadershipis timeless as it is predicated on respect and motivation of subordinates and peers and subordinates, along with a very clear focus on results attained through shared vision. It is the intent of this analysis to show that transformational leadership is timeliness because it is predicated on principles applicable to each generation. The impact of technology on leadership is to accelerate transparency and trust across entire organizations when transformational leaders are driving progress to shared goals and objectives (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Technology will amplify excellent leadership and shine a very bright light on mediocre and inferior leadership over time (Gilley, Dixon, Gilley, 2008). Analysis Of Transformational Leadership Across Generations The core, foundational elements of transformational leadership are more predicated on Emotional Intelligence (EI), charisma, communication and collaboration capacity than any topically driven or short term attribute ... When I was researching my topic, I had been finding the perfect articles and videos to get important and correct information. How many animals die each year. Do they have any laws or anyone to stop the animal poaching? This was my driving question: How can I convince people to help stop others from killing the animals for no reason? Once I finished my research, I understood that in some way it is possible to help stop animal poaching. One of the biggest problems going on right now is that illegal hunters are killing endangered animals just because of their skin or just as a trophy hunt. It may not seem like it more and more animals are becoming close to being endangered to almost extinct. This is happening all because of one thing that makes a chain of events, that is just killing the animals. The problems that it causes is lack of food, extinction, and lack in reproducing. The reasons that those are problems is because the lack of food means that the animals in the food chain that die that are supposed to be food for other animals are dying and can t feed the other animals, and they die from starvation and it will eventually destroy the whole food chain. With the food part being said the animals have less and less reproduced because males are dying and it is not possible, with this cause is less and fewer offsprings each year. As well, both these problems lead to one exact thing, extinction. I think that the world should try and help stop this because it is a serious problem and it is illegal. For example, the well versed international law firm of Morrison and Foerster asserts that more than 200 [bills to restrict outsourcing] exist in 2004 , it is well known that this number has been steadily rising since 2004, and the American fear of losing jobs to outsourcing has grown alongside the increase in restrictive policy, but outsourcing can still create hope instead of fear (Technology Transactions).
