Why a Resistant strand of Group A Streptococcus is Causing Problems in Children and Becoming
Resistant to Antibiotics
Abstract: Streptococcus is a bacteria that has been evolving through the recent centuries. A new
form of these bacteria from group A streptococcus is becoming resistant and creating a whole new
kind of this disease. The new form of this disease is twenty seven percent resistant to the antibiotic
and is causing pneumonia meningitis in children. The new cures being created to fight against
these bacteria are great except for that the new vaccine has no effect on children. Researches have
finally found a vaccine that is effective on children because of a protein that is attached to the
vaccine. Within a period of three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three kinds or groups of streptococcus A, B, and C group. Group A streptococcus are
known as streptococcus pyogenes, which are also known as S pyogene. In 1884 the organism was
named s pyogene by the scientist Rosebach (Sat Sharma MD, 2004). Though the bacteria wasn t
named till 1884 it was first described by Billroth in 1874. Streptococcus is known to cause the
diseases rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, pneumonias, sinusitis, and
Streptococcus Group A 2 ear infections (American Academy of Otolaryngology). There are
antibiotics for these diseases, but over the years they have been becoming more resistant.
Streptococcus is becoming more resistant to antibiotics. Over a period of three years from
September 1, 1993 to August 31, 1996 a study was done on children suffering from the resistant
group A streptococcus (Dr. Arditi, 1999). This new group A strain caused children pneumococcal
meningitis. Researches looked at eight different hospitals in the United States and one hundred and
eighty cases within these three years. The study was designed to look at clinical presentation,
hospital course, and the outcome from the children being cured. As they watched and monitored the
children s progress on the different antibiotics used to cure streptococcus. Also the researchers has
to take into consideration if the streptococcus was becoming resistant, which antibiotics were given
as treatment, and from those antibiotics which streptococcus became

Desiderius Erasmus Research Paper
The desire to write grows with writing . Desiderius Erasmus was famous for
writing and he admired it much. This quote is referring to him because he
loved to write and when he wrote he gained more love for it. Desiderius Erasmus was a
known humanist who was the greatest scholar of the northern Renaissance. Desiderius Erasmus had
an important and interesting life and it all started during his early life. He was born October 27,
1469, to Roger Gerard and Margaretha Rogerious in Rotterdam, Holland. He was the second
illegitimate son of Roger Gerard, his father, which whom was a priest. He went on as far to be the
third highest class at the chapter school of St. Lebuin in Deventer. Two of his teachers were

In 1499, a pupil, William Blount, Lord Mountjoy, invited Erasmus to England. This is where he
met a Thomas More, Erasmus and More became friends for life. John Colet quickened Erasmus
thought to be a primitive theologian, one who would expound scripture but not in a
argumentative way of scholastics but in the manner of Jerome and the other Church Fathers, the
ones who lived in an age when men still understood and practiced the classical art of rhetoric.
The impassioned Colet brought him to lecture on the Old Testament at Oxford, but the more
paranoid he was made him not ready even more. He went back to the Continent with a Latin
copy of St. Paul s Epistles and the conviction that ancient theology required mastery of Greek. By
1502 Erasmus had already settled in the university town of Leuven which is now in Belgium and
was reading Origen and St. Paul Greek. Erasmus urged leaders to inject into the vitals, the
teachings of Christ by studying and meditating on the scriptures using a spiritual interpretation.
He sailed for England in 1505 trying to find support for his studies, he then found an opportunity
to travel to Italy instead. He published many books using satirical dialogue and an example of
that is Julius Exclusus e coelis which was published in 1513 1514. In the end of his finalized work

What Are The Variations In Regional Differences
Notably, although only some historians argue that regional differences significantly increased in
the United States during the 1800 s the remaining historians would be false to disagree. Variations
in regional differences include things such as industrialization, slavery, and the growth of the
United States (U.S) government between the years 1800 and 1848. Such economical, social, and
political factors influenced the increase in regional differences. During the year of 1803, the state
of Louisiana was purchased by the U.S. from France expanding the territory of the country by
828,000 square miles of land towards the West. As people began to move into the new land an
increase in jobs and technology arose. Being that, expansion lead to the production

The Problem of Human Existence
The Problem of Human Existence Human beings live, and they die. The scary part is death while
the amazing part is living. A great mystery that surrounds human existence is death and after
death. What is existence? Is there any purpose for existence? These are two major questions for
all human beings. A person can be here one minute, and the next minute they are dead. Every
person is always seeking answers to these questions, but no one has any answer that is considered
to be satisfactory enough ADDIN EN.CITE Vardanyan2011135(Vardanyan,

The Human Effects Of Human Impact On The Environment
In our study about human impact on the amount of plastic in the environment, we discovered
some very interesting results. In our study, we walked through the streets of Sisters, Oregon. We
went into the local businesses to talk to them about their usage of plastic bags or paper bags. We
wanted to see just how much of Sisters was using only paper bags. We asked them to provide an
approximate number of paper and plastic bags that they give out to customers on a daily basis. We
explained to them some of the bad effects of plastic bags on the environment. If the owner was only
using plastic bags, then we suggested ideas to limit the plastic bags, such as a punch card for
those who choose to avoid the usage of plastic bags. We will highlight three of our interviews in
this article, as well as highlight the results of our study. Let us begin with the three interviews
we would like to highlight. The first interview that we would like to highlight was at Paulina
Springs Books.. The employee working was very willing to talk to us about the plastic bags.
When we first walked in, we asked them if they were willing to talk. She said that they do use
plastic bags in their store. The owner does use paper bags in their store as well. The cashier gave
us an estimated number of plastic bags given out daily at about 20. The number of paper bags
given out was similar to the number of plastic bags, at 20 to 22.When we shared the negative
effects of plastic bags, the employee was not willing to

Essay On Asylum In Russia
Throughout history, Russians have left their homeland to apply for asylum in other countries. A
large number of Russians came to the US to apply for asylum during the 1980s and the 1990s
because of all the problems occurring in the Soviet Union and the freedom that the US offered. The
main issues that took place in Russia included Jewish persecution and pogroms. Although they
endured a tough life in their homeland, Russians came to the US with hopes of being granted
asylum. Luckily, many Russians were granted asylum, so they could live a free, successful life in
the US.
The main reason why Russians have left their homeland was because of Jewish persecution. During
the 1980s and the 1990s, the Jewish religion was forbidden to be practiced in the Soviet Union,
along with a few other religions. Russia consists of one of the world s largest Jewish communities,
so many Jews living in Russia were discriminated against and faced prejudice. Jews living in the
Soviet Union were under strict government control. For example, Hebrew study was banned and
printing Jewish calendars was prohibited. In addition, it was forbidden to print Jewish books. In fact,

Because Russia has a high population of Jews, pogroms usually happened. Although pogroms
were more common throughout the 19th century, they often occurred during the 1980s. Anti
Jewish feelings still existed, so pogroms would be set up to severely attack Jewish populations.
As a result of the violent pogroms, Jews were injured and killed. Also, Jewish communities,
businesses, and synagogues were either destroyed, burned down, or vandalized. Jews didn t feel
safe in Russia due to all of the pogroms occurring. This well founded fear of being severely
punished for belonging to a certain religion was formed by both Jewish persecution and pogroms.

The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay
The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the green knight s wife plays a pivotal role in the story. Yet,
she is never given a name and it is unclear what motivates her actions. She could simply be
following her husband s orders to seduce this visiting knight. She could be under the tutelage of
Morgan le Fay. Or she may be acting under her own guidance and using her sexuality to carry out
her own desires or gain power. In light of this uncertainty, the unnamed wife s role in the bedroom
scene is also hard to decipher. As a woman she should be submissive, and yet it is Gawain who is
forced to defend himself against her advances to which he eventually submits. The multiple
readings of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also refers to Gawain as, my captive knight . This suggests that Gawain is in the submissive
position, which is not typically how a powerful, male knight is perceived. Oddly enough, this is
the case in medieval society. The lord is the master and the knight pledges loyalty to the lord and
his lady. In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this
problemitizes the typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to
command, to kiss when you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight.
His social role as a knight causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert
control over Gawain while still appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and
gender roles.
However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further
complicated when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. If she is merely following his
orders and offering her body to whom ever he commands, then she is undoubtedly submissive.
Clearly the wife s actions are in line with her husband s plans. In the end he tells Gawain, And the
wooing of my wife it was all my scheme! Despite this fact, it is uncertain wheatear the wife is
forced to join

Laurie Halse s Chains Quotes
In the book Chains by Laurie Halse, it talks about a girl named Isabel, who was born as a slave.
Isabel has faced many challenges in her life, ranging from her abusive witch like owner Madame
Lockton, to choosing whether to side with Great Britain or America. The old man Isabel calls
grandfather, tells her, Everything that stands between you and freedom is the River Jordan. When
talking about about the River Jordan, her grandfather means that Isabel must overcome her
problems (the River Jordan) to find freedom and escape from the brutality of being a slave. There
are many things that get in the way of Isabel on her quest to freedom, such as Madame Lockton,
choosing sides, finding Ruth, and a potential way Isabel can find freedom. Each... Show more

Her problems could be interpreted as chains trapping and drowning her in her River Jordan. He
[Captain Campbell] couldn t take me. He would not. I was chained between two nations... I was
a ghost tied to the ground not a living soul. (182) This quote shows Isabel is stuck, not knowing
what side to favor. They used a simile comparing Isabel and the two nations to a ghost trapped in
the ground, with Isabel depicted as the ghost. It explained that Isabel is a like ghost trapped in
the ground, not with the British nor the Americans. The glowing iron streaked in front of my
face like a comet... The man pushed the hot metal against my cheek. It hissed and bubbled.
Smoke curled under my nose. They cooked me. (148) This passage clarifies when Isabel gets
branded. This part of the story almost broke Isabel s spirit to fight forward and for freedom. Not
like her usual self, she followed orders received from Madame and rarely thought about Ruth
and her parents. I took a step up. Answer me, you miserable cow. Did you sell my sister? ... She
is only 5 years old. I rose another step. She is a baby and you sold her away from me. (135)
During this section of the story, this would be the first time Isabel ever truly got mad at
Madame, even enough to yell at her with a rude name. This is one of the larger complications
that add more water to Isabel s River Jordan. Ruth was Isabel s only family left, and she sincerely
did care for Ruth, but when Ruth got sold it put Isabel into despair. It was also the cause of
Isabel being branded. But Ruth did. She giggled, a sound like a small silver bell. A bell tolling
disaster. Madam Lockton... pointed her finger at us. Which one of you made that noise? Her face
flushed with rage her eyes darting back and forth between us. I did, ma am, I quickly lied...

Community Policing Era Paper
Policing in the United States has evolved throughout history. The best way to understand it is by
becoming familiar with its history. There have been three policing eras in the United States and
they were the Political Era, the Reform Era, and the Community Policing Era. The Community
Policing Era is the form that is presently used in the United States. Approximately 350 years ago,
the first law enforcementsystem was started in Boston. These were the early days of American law
enforcement. When the colonist settled there in 1630 they appointed constables. Constables were
like a sheriff and in 1631 they appointed watchman an a few volunteers. They made sure that the
streets were safe, reported fires and apprehended and arrested anyone violating the law. The early
policing era was based off the English structure. The early policesystem was reactionary and they
only responded when a request was made by a victim or witness. In the last half of the nineteenth
century, the Sheriff used the concept of Posse... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Community Policing Era promotes the partnership of the community, government and fellow
police departments. It engages the community in addressing the cause of crime and the fear of
crime within the community. In the Community Policing Era, the police officers are assigned to
a specific area and they get to know the people within that area. They went back to the use of foot
patrol and also established bicycle patrols. The use of the vehicle was still in place as well but
they are not just driving around in their vehicles like in the Reform Era. This brought back one of
Peele s principles which involves creating a more involved relationship with the community and this
in turn resulted in the community assisting the police in deterring crime. This era is focusing on
building relationships and showing that the police care about the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Bipolar Disorder
It seems every day that goes by we hear someone being labeled as bipolar or another celebrity is
getting diagnosed as being bipolar after their spurts of erratic behavior. I had to ask the question,
does anyone really know what it means to be bipolar? Bipolar disorder, also known as manic
depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels,
and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (NIMH). Suffering from bipolar disorder can mean
suffering from drastic changes in mood from one minute to the next. This illness can make
getting through the simplest daily tasks impossible and can even cause the person suffering to
become suicidal. There are typically three states that a person with this illness will experience;
manic, depressive and mixed states. This illness is typically diagnosed in late teens to early
twenties and is treatable, but will usually last a person s entire life. At this time there are no
medical tests or exams performed to determine if a person is suffering from bipolar disorder.
Usually a trained mental health professional can determine the diagnosis after evaluating the
person. Bipolar disorder can run in families, although there are some relating factors, scientists
have not yet determined any keys in genetics as far as passing the illness on. The first of the three
states is the manic state. In this state a person may feel extremely joyful or overexcited. A person
suffering from this illness may

Arguments For Bilingual Education
Over the years, bilingual education has involved teaching children academics in two different
languages so they may become competent learners and be successful at acquiring English. Before
1968, bilingual education was not a required course in American schools, but instead as a voluntary
program. This changed in 1981 when a lawsuit was brought against the state of Texas that resulted
in the requirement of bilingual educationprograms in elementary schools as English as a second
language(ESL) program, bilingual programs in post elementary grades through eighth grade, and
ESL programs in high school. This type of education has been a hot topic for the state governments
of the United States, debating whether to keep in the curriculum of schools. Many asking
themselves, why should we to provide bilingual educationfor these students? What will students
gain from this type of education? Studies have shown there are benefits that range from cognitive
ability, educational advancement, to employment opportunities with a bilingual education, while
the critics label it as a failed experiment that costed a whole lot of money and years to maintain a
basic foundation in the second language. Although the cost is hefty for this exploration of a new
language and is time consuming, the cognitive abilities, educational advancement, and employment
opportunities greatly outweigh these opposing factors.
One of the biggest opposing factors against bilingual education has been money,

Usually these types are the easiest to find not only by the players, but the coaches. These are the
types who do not try hard or give a 100 percent. They do not work hard in the weight room, on the

because they are soft on the inside and soft on the outside.
The jelly bean athletes are the ones that will hurt a team the most. These are the kinds that work
hard in front of the coach, but lack the effort behind his back. These are the types who go out at
night and are not a good role model for younger players. Once one player sees him careless about
what he does then they think they can do the same and then it starts a trend. These types are the
hardest to spot. The players can spot this type quicker than a coach because players will know
this type on a personal level. Coaches only know players on the field, but will eventually separate
these athletes from others. Being hard on the outside in front of coach but being soft in the middle
when coach is not around is just like a jelly bean

works hard in front or behind closed doors. They give a 100 percent on and off the field. These

Collaborative Anthropological Theory-Making

anthropological theory making and debates on truth .
Introduction
This essay discusses how dialogues with interlocutors during fieldwork can be formative to
anthropological theory making and debates on truth . Lassiter in Schwartz, Saul, and Rena
Lederman (2011: 70) urges anthropologists to view themselves and their informants in an I you
relationship, a dialogue, two people next to each other reading the same text and discussing it face
to face.

within the human and social sciences away from seeing the researcher as collecting and gathering
data to recognising both the researcher and the informant as active in the production of data. The
research process is a joint venture allowing for equity between researcher and informant. This does
not omit question of power and control in the research process but it recognises the importance of

The roles of the managerial accounting manager are to make decisions, forecast and plan, and
create budgets for the organization. The accounting manager has to be detailed and precise in
making decisions. The decisions they make are used by the division managers for them to adjust
their strategies for achieving their goals. Decisions made by the manager can range from what the
company should charge for a product or service to how much it should cost the organization to

process allows managers to allocate resources to the most financially need departments, and
eliminates programs and departments that are not effectively using the resources (Managerial
Accountant s Role in Business Planning, para. 5).
The budgets that the accounting managers have to generate can vary from industry to industry, but
some common budgets are sales, production, and cash budgets (Johnson, 2013).
Similar to the managerial accounting manager, the financial accounting manager is responsible for

I don t love studying. I hate studying. I like learning. Learning is beautiful. Natalie Portman.

Bandura s Theory Of Observational Learning
The Social Learning theory (modelling) is a set of principles that some psychologists have put into
place to establish how each childs personality grows and develops through their individual
behavioural patterns, that they have aquired through the progress of their lives. It is important that
children not only learn through conditioning, but its just as important that they have equal amounts
of observational learning.
Observational Learning is less stressful to children and does nt take as much effort, all children
need to do is observe. A child will self conciously grow and extend their abilities by observational
learning. Observing fellow peers and adults in their lives will merely encourage a child to mimick
and model a person s behaviour. Any childs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Has The Motion Picture Changed Everything
The Motion Picture changed everything. The very first movies were rather basic, showing
everyday routines such as the arrival of a train or female workers leaving a factory. The very
first action film was The Great Train Robbery (1905) which had a simple yet thrilling plot about
cowboy bandits and their attempt to steal money from a moving train. Then several Westerns
adapted the same basic plot, and some even moved it further. In the 1930 s the Noir and Gangster
movies such as Little Caesar (1931), Scarface (1932), and The public Enemy (1931) became
immensely popular, and these films normally had a rather violent story, many of them were
inspired by real gangsters. Then Came the forties and the fifties, which were mostly passive eras on

Despite the often savage and barbaric behaviour of the primitive, I believe that they can be broken

The Impact of Divorce on Children Essay
In the United States today, we live in a society that has perhaps one of the highest rates of divorce
amongst all other industrial nations at a rate averaging around 40 to 50 percent. Of that staggering
rate of divorce, 60 percent of those involve children. Because of this, more than one million children
go through their parents divorceeach year. Now, during this time of divorce a great focus seems to
be drawn between the adults, but at what point should we wonder about the children? What
changes and potential consequences are thrust upon the child forced to go through what might be
considered an extremely demanding ordeal such as his/her parents divorce. I will tackle this topic
with the assistance of various resources that have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trauma and distress of children going through divorce is often produced from overwhelming
senses of vulnerability as the family seemingly collapses, grief at the loss of what felt like an
intact family as well as at the loss of the non custodial parent, and even a strong sense of
powerlessness to being unable to prevent the divorce from happening.
The simple act of divorce alone can be a very stressful event for any child. As such, the looming
realization that things will be different, yet not knowing how, often plays to the fears of the child.
Divorce for a child can often lead to reduced contact with the non custodial parent (often the
father), lower standards of living, moving from one home to another, changing schools, having
more responsibility thrust upon them, or even the potential for the custodial parent to be less
psychologically or physically available for the child when they need them. All of these are
environmental forces that can lead to an overwhelming amount of stress for any child, leaving
them in a negative position and making it harder for them to cope and adjust to the divorce. Often
times children can t mentally cope with the divorce, either. With children being as egocentric as
they are, it is impossible for a child to look at the conflict between their parents indifferently. Many
children are stuck with a sense that they are the reason for their

Pathophysiology Of Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a disorder caused by reoccurring seizures. This occurs because of excessive firing of
the neurons and fast spread of these impulses over the brain. There are two pathophysiology
phenomenon of a seizure: Hyper excitability of a neuron and hyper synchronization (Prayson,
Jordan, 2015). Hyper synchronization is the hyper excitable neuron that leads to increased
excitability of a large surrounding area of neurons. Basically, a large electrical impulse is generated
in one part of the brainfrom this excessive firing in the neurons. Seizureis defined as an involuntary
alteration of behavior with or without loss of consciousness accompanied by an abnormal
electrical discharge in the brain (Offringa, Moyer, 2011). The key part of

Positive And Negative Constraints Of Virtual Reality In...
The College of Computer Science is a diverse academic community where conversations

plays a major role in the discourse of my academic community. As one of the major research areas
in this discourse community, people in this community are talking about different ways virtual
realitycan be implemented into classes or throughout campus. Virtual reality has both positive and
negative constraints. One positive constraint is the abundance of virtual reality products that are
created by a wide range of companies. In this academic discourse community, a positive constraint
is everyone researching virtual reality can interact and use the technology for further research in
the field. One negative constraint is that despite these welcomed innovations, virtual reality also
poses some problems, one of them being how expensive the technology is to the average
consumer. More specifically in this academic discourse community, another negative constraint is
the technology can be dangerous if not handled properly by students or professors. Virtual reality

An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry
How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called
perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite
difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It
originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural
disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere
through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all
of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance
from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo
Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing
something despite difficulty. For the second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou.
Through her life there were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved
success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a
tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved success.
Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can accomplish
what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the Little Rock
9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had courage

Rice is one of the most important food crops for more than half of the world s population, the rice
weevil, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is a major pest of stored rice in Egypt.
The use of nanoparticles as pesticide could be promising alternative strategy to affect pests which
have become resistant to pesticides. Two nano materials nano aluminum oxide and nano zincoxide
were tested against rice weevil under laboratory and store conditions. Nano aluminum oxide was
found to be highly effective against S. oryzae, while nano zinc oxide has lowered effectiveness
against the weevil.
Results showed that mortality percentage of S. oryzae were 65.34 В± 8.9 and
58.58 В± 8.3 after treatment with 0.5 gm / kg, 100.00В± 9.6 and 81.81 В± 4.2 with

Merida, A Modern Personification Of The Great Mother...
Mythological stories are still being used in modern era by society to understand the world and
life. Its use is noticeable on media directed towards adolescent or the younger audience. Disney is
known for basing their movies on mythological stories, but there has been a shift to how they use
these stories. Disney Princesses such as Snow white, Aurora, Belle, were a reflection to goddesses
like Aphrodite, a goddessof love, beauty and desire. Modern Princesses such as Merida, Elsa,
Moana, tie to Artemis, goddess of wilderness, virginity, and protector. Most modern princesses,
specially Merida, depict the mythological archetype, the Great Mother. David A. Leeming, author of
The World of Myth, describes the Great Mother as earth, body of nourishment, and symbol of death
and rebirth. The Great Mother represents nature and motherhood, and is an agent of rebirth or
transformation. In the movie Brave, Princess Merida is on the quest to mend her mistake of
changing her mother into a bear because she wanted to change her fate. Merida is a modern
personification of the Great Mother archetype by having a strong connection with nature, behaving
as the mother of her kingdom, and going through and influencing spiritual transformation.
Leeming states that The Great Mother is also described as Mother earth. She is connected to
fertility and has a deep connection with the environment. The movie Brave depicts Merida s
connection with nature throughout the whole story. The song playing in the

The United States Should Allow Refugees
A couple months ago, 2017 arrived and brought controversial topics and arguments. Some of these
political disagreements are about the 2016 election and the current president of the United States,
Donald Trump. President Trump has already made executive orders in his time in office. One
executive order was to tighten the vetting of immigrants and visitors and ban the refugees who want
to settle in the United States. This order ignited protests and riots among some groups of people
who were and are still upset and want to help others who are escaping their country and coming to
the U.S. to seek safety. The United States should allow refugees into its county. Allowing refugees
into the United States has worked before; it is difficult to come into the U.S. as a refugee, and it is
humane to help others.

First, I completed a thorough review of the company s current business practices and conducted
several focus groups with employees to discuss their top five ideas and suggestions for improving
their productivity, commitment to the company and overall job satisfaction. The results of these
activities produced several areas of focus SmartShoes senior management team should look at.

Several responses indicated that they felt ill prepared to provide a high level of productivity.
Particularly when they first joined the company. Still others indicated they felt that they had limited
opportunities for career advancement. As a result of this employees become frustrated and either
leave the company or if they stay become increasingly frustrated, which can result in lost
productivity and poor performance. Which will eventually lead to less than stellar product
development and ultimately a loss in revenue.
By implementing a training program for new staff, can start their jobs with some idea of what they
re supposed to do and how to do it (Section 7. Developing Training Programs for Staff, n.d.)
Additionally, it can show new employees the company is serious about what it does, and therefore
encourage them to be serious about it, too. A solid training program can also significantly reduce
mistakes that cost the organization loss of revenue, production times, and the reputation of their

Na2co3 Synthesis Lab Report
IV. CONCLUSION _
In this experiment, a solution of Na2CO3 was reacted with a solution of CaCl2 to form a
precipitate of CaCO3. The theoretical yield of CaCO3 was calculated and then compared to the
actual yield of CaCO3. The results suggest that the Theoretical Yield was 4.2246 grams and the
Actual Yield was 4.24 grams, which gave a Percent Yield of 100.473% and a Percent Error of
0.473%. The actual yield was greater than the theoretical yield. It is suggested that it was greater
than because I used two different filter papers and I only measured one. If I had measured the
two different papers, I would probably obtain a different mass for each of them. Because I am
only off by 0.02 grams, that could have been the reason why I didn t get the mass I should have
obtained. After finishing my experiment I measured another filter paper and it weighed 0.928

The main strength in the method was the procedure, because it clearly and briefly explained the
steps needed to take. Following my method was easy, because it was very clear and easy to
follow. However, the method did not include many photos of the set up and of the experiment
overall. The main weakness in the method was the lack of photos of how I set up my materials
and of observations I made during the experiment (Separating the precipitate from the water, the
water, the precipitate before and after drying) to further explain and extend the understanding of
the reader. In following this method it was difficult to understand some of the last steps and the set
up because of the lack of photos. An improvement to the method would be to measure the mass of
both filter papers. I would make this improvement because if I had done that before my final result
would be closer to the Theoretical

Multiculturalism In American Schools
As discussed in our lecture, when we debated the various positions that Arthur Schlesinger took on
in terms of teaching multiculturalism in American schools. He was not wholly against the teaching
of multiculturalism, however, he did not advocate for teaching multiculturalism at a young age,
when children are sensitive to learning about the identity of themselves and others. He believes that
every culturehas their own history and their own historical perspective, but he believes that in
American society, there is only one way to teach multiculturalism as to make sure that Americans
stay unified, and children understand their roles as Americans. Of course, by other scholars, this
perspective was to be disputed. By teaching American history through one historical perspective, it
can leave out and sugar coat many crucial details about other historical perspectives and overlook
the details of struggles of other persons involved and their contribution to American history.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pharmaceutical Industry In...
There are advantages of starting a pharmaceutical firm in India. It has emerged from being an
enzyme producing firm to a biotech powerhouse under the guidance of Ms Kiran M. Shaw. They
have a well established pharmaceutical industry that has been growing since 1947. After the
purchase of Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd. and India Drug and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. they were able to
compete with the MNC s (Multi National Corporaton) from overseas (Kalegaonkar, Locke, Lehrich,
2008, p. 2). In the beginning the pharmaceutical industrysaw substantial growth. By the beginning
of the 21st century, over 20,000 pharmaceutical companies were operating in India (Kalegaonkar,

Biocon India believes that there has to be trust between the leaders of the company and the
employees. In order to soothe any uneasiness, Biocon has went as far as giving special
transportation, free lunch, snacks and onsite health check ups. Performance rewards were based
not merely on an individual s achievement but on the performance of her team, so as to foster
excellence and reinforce collaboration (Kalegaonkar, Locke, Lehrich, 2008, p. 5). Biocon India has
become a much sought after employer.
India has several well known research institutions that produce quality graduates. The hiring of
these Indian graduates is much lower than the cost of hiring graduates from universities and
research institutions outside of India. India also has a substantial number of pharma science
graduates. There is a large percent of the graduates that can even speak English which makes the
hiring of Indian graduates even more attractive. These new graduates seek employment with Biocon
India. In 1970 the government passed two new regulations that has effect on the pharmaceutical
industry. The India Patent Act prohibited

Theology 205 By Edward Lewis
Lewis essay relates to this course as Theology provides a perspective on understanding creation, the
transcendent power, and humanity around us. He acknowledges that multiple viewpoints exist
from the inside and outside perspectives. Also, one cannot ignore or discount specific inside
experiences as it helps us think about something. Therefore, in Theology205, there will inevitably
be many ways to understand life, our purpose, and the people we are becoming. We are also
covering the Bible in depth, so some of us will look at the beam if they have never read it, while
others will look along the beam if they are familiar with its interpretations. The students who will
look along the beam are those who are Christian or Jew, since they already use the Bible as some
guidance in life. In contrast, those who look at the beam are ones who are new to this subject,
those willing to view this course from a new lens, and those who do not practice Christianityor
Judaism.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young man does not apply an experiential view; rather, he is merely looking at the beam when
he examined the paintings. This is similar to Lewis essay because Lewis ultimately believes that we
should attempt to look through multiple lenses and understand the difference between the outside
and inside experiences that shape how we think about something. Williams character tells the boy
that he does not truly know anything about him just from looking on the outside, so his judgments
are invalid. He must truly experience and look along the beam in order to fully understand what

Guns N Roses History
Six studio albums resulting in more than 100 million albums sold worldwide. Almost half of
those albums were sold in the United States alone. Not many rock bands can say that they have
accomplished this; Guns N Roses is one such band that has. The story of Guns N Roses is all
documented in the book W.A.R: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose written by
Mick Wall. In this book there is proof of Guns N Roses being one of the greatest rock bands to
ever perform. The early days were hard for the band. When all of the members made it to LA they
were in different bands. It took almost three years of them filling in for each others bands and
drifting through random bands before they decided to form one of their own. Alx was the one who...

They only signed with Geffen because they were crazy enough to give [the band] $75,000
before an official album was even released (95). Little did Geffen know that by them giving
Guns N Roses payment in advance they would be financing one of the world s greatest rock
bands. Guns N Roses and Geffen decided that the first single they would release from the album
Appetite for Destruction would be Welcome To The Jungle. They chose this song because Slash
s opening guitar refrain echoed like ... footsteps down an alley and Steven [bringing] the
hammer down with a deafening thud was so different from the music that was being played on
the radio (100). Soon after the release of Welcome To The Jungle the band released Sweet Child
O Mine. Sweet Child soon became a chart topping hit; it became number one on the Billboard
music charts in 88. The third single they released was Paradise City. This song blew up because
of the lyrics written by Duff that say take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green
and the girls are pretty . Duff wrote this because when he first got to LA the only thing that he was
thinking what that exact lyric. Those three songs are the songs that cemented Guns N Roses in the

Similarities Between The Book Thief And Anne Frank
Many are familiar with Anne Frank s diary and have even sat down and watched the movie The
Diary of Anne Frank. With her diary we learn a lot about Anne and her family, as well as the
tragic story of their life, and the lives of many other Jews. However, this is not the only movie
that gives us an insight in the life of a young girl during World War II. The Book Thief is in many
ways similar to The Diary of Anne Frankin which the viewer is provided the experiences of the
war between two very different young girls that have to adapt to a new home and possess an
increasing hunger for knowledge. Both movies revolve around the lives of two young girls living
in Germany during World War II. In The Book Thief, we are introduced to the main character,
known as Liesel. Liesel was riding on a train with her mother and younger... Show more content on

Sadly, on the way her younger brother passed away, and Liesel is the only one that meets her
new parents, a German couple, Hans and Rosa Huberman. While in The Diary of Anne Frank,
Anne is a Jewish girl, raised in a Jewish family. Her life is the perfect life of a young thirteen year
old, she has a loving family, many friends, and even a boy that likes her. However, all of this was
taken away when the raiding for Jews started to increase in Germany. Her family is forced to go
into hiding in the attic at her dad s business building. Although both movies are based on the lives
of two young girls, we are shown two very diverse point of views of the war. Anne and Liesel
both had to adapt to a new home and living with new people. Anne s family left their home, which
contained many loving memories for all them, and moved into the attic of her dad s business
building. In the beginning it was just Anne s father, mother, sister

Mandatory Drug Testing for High School Athletes Essay
A medical dictionary defines a drug as any substance that when taken into the living organism
may modify one or more of its functions (Newton 12). However, when speaking of drug testing
for abuse a person is usually thinking about illegal drugs or drugs that can alter athletic
performance in sporting events. Mandatory drug testing was not allowed in public schools until
June 2002 when the Supreme Court allowed for public schools to do random drug testing (Carroll
23). This decision allowed for drug testing in all schools throughout the United States not just for
athletes but also students who are in any activities within the school, for example clubs and
competitive events (Carroll 23). Even though drug testing is now allowed by... Show more content

This does not prevent them from exercising their right to the 4th and 14th amendments which refer
to freedom from search and seizures. The Supreme Court has allowed for drug testing in all schools
throughout the U.S. So in this school district they have just put in place an effective and easy way
to prevent drugs within their school system, by putting in place mandatory drug testing for all
students who want to participate in school activities (Scalia).
Over the past couple of years drugs have grown within the younger generations. Nearly one in five
teens have taken prescription medications to get high, according to a recent study by the
Partnership for a Drug Free America (Carroll 23). Most schools that put mandatory drug testing in
place are schools that had, and still have, drug problems within their schools (Yamaguchi). These
are few examples of mandatory drug testing in high schools athletics and why it is needed across
the country. Mandatory drug testing for high school athletes should be required because it
decreases drug use in schools. By having mandatory drug testing in schools the risk for youth
becoming addicted to drugs is lowered. The risk for drugs within a school is lowered when there
is mandatory drug testing for athletes because most drug problems within a school start with steroid
use within certain sports in a high school. Steroids are used to help

Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront was the most current anticipated Star Wars game next to Star Wars: The Old
Republic when it first launched. Three week after launch and we got the games first DLC
package, The Battle of Jakku . So how does it stand up now against other AAA titles such as
Fallout 4? Well to start off, Star Wars
Battlefront, topped the most sold online gameon the
PlayStation 4 and broke the record which was held by Bungie s Destiny , and was nominated for
the The Best Games Award for the best shooter. However around the community there are cries
of gun balancing, and a single player campaign! The DL 44, a blaster pistol you get for pre

There is no campaign mode in this game as of now. There are rumors of EA currently producing
a campaign mode but they still remain unconfirmed. When compared up to Fallout 4, Star Wars
Battlefront is no competition for the amount of in game content that Fallout 4 provides. That is
not the case with multiplayer, Star Wars Battlefront was design and built around the multiplayer
modes of the game, and it excels in that. Not only can you play 20 on 20 team matches that take
place in the most iconic scenes of Star Wars but the amount of detail that went into the creation
of these scenes are absolutely stunning to say the least. Every thing from visual graphics and art
work to the sound that does an amazing job of putting you right into the middle of the battle is
some of the best work ever put out by the Frostbite Engine. There are only four planets in the
game that you can battle on. Each planet has a few maps each some that very in design and some
that are just smaller versions of the larger map, all of which deliver the same amount of quality in
design and visuals as the other. With these amazing graphics and sounds, comes many game modes
to keep you entertained, and focused on objectives. Objectives play a large role in the game that

Why a Resistant strand of Group A Streptococcus is Causing Problems in Children and Becoming Resistant to Antibiotics Abstract: Streptococcus is a bacteria that has been evolving through the recent centuries. A new form of these bacteria from group A streptococcus is becoming resistant and creating a whole new kind of this disease. The new form of this disease is twenty seven percent resistant to the antibiotic and is causing pneumonia meningitis in children. The new cures being created to fight against these bacteria are great except for that the new vaccine has no effect on children. Researches have finally found a vaccine that is effective on children because of a protein that is attached to the vaccine. Within a period of three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are three kinds or groups of streptococcus A, B, and C group. Group A streptococcus are known as streptococcus pyogenes, which are also known as S pyogene. In 1884 the organism was named s pyogene by the scientist Rosebach (Sat Sharma MD, 2004). Though the bacteria wasn t named till 1884 it was first described by Billroth in 1874. Streptococcus is known to cause the diseases rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, pneumonias, sinusitis, and Streptococcus Group A 2 ear infections (American Academy of Otolaryngology). There are antibiotics for these diseases, but over the years they have been becoming more resistant. Streptococcus is becoming more resistant to antibiotics. Over a period of three years from September 1, 1993 to August 31, 1996 a study was done on children suffering from the resistant group A streptococcus (Dr. Arditi, 1999). This new group A strain caused children pneumococcal meningitis. Researches looked at eight different hospitals in the United States and one hundred and eighty cases within these three years. The study was designed to look at clinical presentation, hospital course, and the outcome from the children being cured. As they watched and monitored the children s progress on the different antibiotics used to cure streptococcus. Also the researchers has to take into consideration if the streptococcus was becoming resistant, which antibiotics were given as treatment, and from those antibiotics which streptococcus became ... • 3. Desiderius Erasmus Research Paper The desire to write grows with writing . Desiderius Erasmus was famous for writing and he admired it much. This quote is referring to him because he loved to write and when he wrote he gained more love for it. Desiderius Erasmus was a known humanist who was the greatest scholar of the northern Renaissance. Desiderius Erasmus had an important and interesting life and it all started during his early life. He was born October 27, 1469, to Roger Gerard and Margaretha Rogerious in Rotterdam, Holland. He was the second illegitimate son of Roger Gerard, his father, which whom was a priest. He went on as far to be the third highest class at the chapter school of St. Lebuin in Deventer. Two of his teachers were humanists. Jan Synthe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1499, a pupil, William Blount, Lord Mountjoy, invited Erasmus to England. This is where he met a Thomas More, Erasmus and More became friends for life. John Colet quickened Erasmus thought to be a primitive theologian, one who would expound scripture but not in a argumentative way of scholastics but in the manner of Jerome and the other Church Fathers, the ones who lived in an age when men still understood and practiced the classical art of rhetoric. The impassioned Colet brought him to lecture on the Old Testament at Oxford, but the more paranoid he was made him not ready even more. He went back to the Continent with a Latin copy of St. Paul s Epistles and the conviction that ancient theology required mastery of Greek. By 1502 Erasmus had already settled in the university town of Leuven which is now in Belgium and was reading Origen and St. Paul Greek. Erasmus urged leaders to inject into the vitals, the teachings of Christ by studying and meditating on the scriptures using a spiritual interpretation. He sailed for England in 1505 trying to find support for his studies, he then found an opportunity to travel to Italy instead. He published many books using satirical dialogue and an example of that is Julius Exclusus e coelis which was published in 1513 1514. In the end of his finalized work the second edition of Erasmus New Testament (1519) replaced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Are The Variations In Regional Differences Notably, although only some historians argue that regional differences significantly increased in the United States during the 1800 s the remaining historians would be false to disagree. Variations in regional differences include things such as industrialization, slavery, and the growth of the United States (U.S) government between the years 1800 and 1848. Such economical, social, and political factors influenced the increase in regional differences. During the year of 1803, the state of Louisiana was purchased by the U.S. from France expanding the territory of the country by 828,000 square miles of land towards the West. As people began to move into the new land an increase in jobs and technology arose. Being that, expansion lead to the production ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Problem of Human Existence The Problem of Human Existence Human beings live, and they die. The scary part is death while the amazing part is living. A great mystery that surrounds human existence is death and after death. What is existence? Is there any purpose for existence? These are two major questions for all human beings. A person can be here one minute, and the next minute they are dead. Every person is always seeking answers to these questions, but no one has any answer that is considered to be satisfactory enough ADDIN EN.CITE Vardanyan2011135(Vardanyan, 2011)1351356Vardanyan, V.Panorama of Psychology2011Bloomington, IN 47403AuthorHouse9781456700331http://books.google.co.ke/books?id=q_23H6AtR2AC( HYPERLINK l _ENREF_4 o Vardanyan, 2011 #135 Vardanyan, 2011). • 6. The Human Effects Of Human Impact On The Environment In our study about human impact on the amount of plastic in the environment, we discovered some very interesting results. In our study, we walked through the streets of Sisters, Oregon. We went into the local businesses to talk to them about their usage of plastic bags or paper bags. We wanted to see just how much of Sisters was using only paper bags. We asked them to provide an approximate number of paper and plastic bags that they give out to customers on a daily basis. We explained to them some of the bad effects of plastic bags on the environment. If the owner was only using plastic bags, then we suggested ideas to limit the plastic bags, such as a punch card for those who choose to avoid the usage of plastic bags. We will highlight three of our interviews in this article, as well as highlight the results of our study. Let us begin with the three interviews we would like to highlight. The first interview that we would like to highlight was at Paulina Springs Books.. The employee working was very willing to talk to us about the plastic bags. When we first walked in, we asked them if they were willing to talk. She said that they do use plastic bags in their store. The owner does use paper bags in their store as well. The cashier gave us an estimated number of plastic bags given out daily at about 20. A large number of Russians came to the US to apply for asylum during the 1980s and the 1990s because of all the problems occurring in the Soviet Union and the freedom that the US offered. The main issues that took place in Russia included Jewish persecution and pogroms. Although they endured a tough life in their homeland, Russians came to the US with hopes of being granted asylum. Luckily, many Russians were granted asylum, so they could live a free, successful life in the US. The main reason why Russians have left their homeland was because of Jewish persecution. During the 1980s and the 1990s, the Jewish religion was forbidden to be practiced in the Soviet Union, along with a few other religions. Russia consists of one of the world s largest Jewish communities, so many Jews living in Russia were discriminated against and faced prejudice. Also, Jewish communities, businesses, and synagogues were either destroyed, burned down, or vandalized. Jews didn t feel safe in Russia due to all of the pogroms occurring. • 8. The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the green knight s wife plays a pivotal role in the story. Yet, she is never given a name and it is unclear what motivates her actions. She could simply be following her husband s orders to seduce this visiting knight. She could be under the tutelage of Morgan le Fay. Or she may be acting under her own guidance and using her sexuality to carry out her own desires or gain power. In light of this uncertainty, the unnamed wife s role in the bedroom scene is also hard to decipher. As a woman she should be submissive, and yet it is Gawain who is forced to defend himself against her advances to which he eventually submits. The multiple readings of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also refers to Gawain as, my captive knight . This suggests that Gawain is in the submissive position, which is not typically how a powerful, male knight is perceived. Oddly enough, this is the case in medieval society. The lord is the master and the knight pledges loyalty to the lord and his lady. In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this problemitizes the typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to command, to kiss when you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight. His social role as a knight causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert control over Gawain while still appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and gender roles. However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further complicated when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. If she is merely following his orders and offering her body to whom ever he commands, then she is undoubtedly submissive. Clearly the wife s actions are in line with her husband s plans. In the end he tells Gawain, And the wooing of my wife it was all my scheme! Despite this fact, it is uncertain wheatear the wife is forced to join ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Laurie Halse s Chains Quotes In the book Chains by Laurie Halse, it talks about a girl named Isabel, who was born as a slave. Isabel has faced many challenges in her life, ranging from her abusive witch like owner Madame Lockton, to choosing whether to side with Great Britain or America. The old man Isabel calls grandfather, tells her, Everything that stands between you and freedom is the River Jordan. When talking about about the River Jordan, her grandfather means that Isabel must overcome her problems (the River Jordan) to find freedom and escape from the brutality of being a slave. There are many things that get in the way of Isabel on her quest to freedom, such as Madame Lockton, choosing sides, finding Ruth, and a potential way Isabel can find freedom. Each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her problems could be interpreted as chains trapping and drowning her in her River Jordan. He [Captain Campbell] couldn t take me. He would not. I was chained between two nations... I was a ghost tied to the ground not a living soul. (182) This quote shows Isabel is stuck, not knowing what side to favor. They used a simile comparing Isabel and the two nations to a ghost trapped in the ground, with Isabel depicted as the ghost. It explained that Isabel is a like ghost trapped in the ground, not with the British nor the Americans. The glowing iron streaked in front of my face like a comet... The man pushed the hot metal against my cheek. It hissed and bubbled. Smoke curled under my nose. They cooked me. (148) This passage clarifies when Isabel gets branded. This part of the story almost broke Isabel s spirit to fight forward and for freedom. Not like her usual self, she followed orders received from Madame and rarely thought about Ruth and her parents. I took a step up. Answer me, you miserable cow. Did you sell my sister? ... She is only 5 years old. I rose another step. She is a baby and you sold her away from me. (135) During this section of the story, this would be the first time Isabel ever truly got mad at Madame, even enough to yell at her with a rude name. This is one of the larger complications that add more water to Isabel s River Jordan. Ruth was Isabel s only family left, and she sincerely did care for Ruth, but when Ruth got sold it put Isabel into despair. It was also the cause of Isabel being branded. But Ruth did. She giggled, a sound like a small silver bell. A bell tolling disaster. Madam Lockton... pointed her finger at us. Which one of you made that noise? • 10. Community Policing Era Paper Policing in the United States has evolved throughout history. The best way to understand it is by becoming familiar with its history. There have been three policing eras in the United States and they were the Political Era, the Reform Era, and the Community Policing Era. The Community Policing Era is the form that is presently used in the United States. Approximately 350 years ago, the first law enforcementsystem was started in Boston. These were the early days of American law enforcement. When the colonist settled there in 1630 they appointed constables. Constables were like a sheriff and in 1631 they appointed watchman an a few volunteers. They made sure that the streets were safe, reported fires and apprehended and arrested anyone violating the law. The early policing era was based off the English structure. • 11. Symptoms And Treatment Of Bipolar Disorder It seems every day that goes by we hear someone being labeled as bipolar or another celebrity is getting diagnosed as being bipolar after their spurts of erratic behavior. I had to ask the question, does anyone really know what it means to be bipolar? Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (NIMH). Suffering from bipolar disorder can mean suffering from drastic changes in mood from one minute to the next. This illness can make getting through the simplest daily tasks impossible and can even cause the person suffering to become suicidal. There are typically three states that a person with this illness will experience; manic, depressive and mixed states. This illness is typically diagnosed in late teens to early twenties and is treatable, but will usually last a person s entire life. At this time there are no medical tests or exams performed to determine if a person is suffering from bipolar disorder. Usually a trained mental health professional can determine the diagnosis after evaluating the person. Bipolar disorder can run in families, although there are some relating factors, scientists have not yet determined any keys in genetics as far as passing the illness on. The first of the three states is the manic state. In this state a person may feel extremely joyful or overexcited. A person suffering from this illness may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Arguments For Bilingual Education Over the years, bilingual education has involved teaching children academics in two different languages so they may become competent learners and be successful at acquiring English. Before 1968, bilingual education was not a required course in American schools, but instead as a voluntary program. This changed in 1981 when a lawsuit was brought against the state of Texas that resulted in the requirement of bilingual educationprograms in elementary schools as English as a second language(ESL) program, bilingual programs in post elementary grades through eighth grade, and ESL programs in high school. This type of education has been a hot topic for the state governments of the United States, debating whether to keep in the curriculum of schools. Many asking themselves, why should we to provide bilingual educationfor these students? What will students gain from this type of education? Studies have shown there are benefits that range from cognitive ability, educational advancement, to employment opportunities with a bilingual education, while the critics label it as a failed experiment that costed a whole lot of money and years to maintain a basic foundation in the second language. Although the cost is hefty for this exploration of a new language and is time consuming, the cognitive abilities, educational advancement, and employment opportunities greatly outweigh these opposing factors. The players can spot this type quicker than a coach because players will know this type on a personal level. Coaches only know players on the field, but will eventually separate these athletes from others. Being hard on the outside in front of coach but being soft in the middle when coach is not around is just like a jelly bean A rock athlete is the type of athlete that all coaches wish they have on their team. The trauma and distress of children going through divorce is often produced from overwhelming senses of vulnerability as the family seemingly collapses, grief at the loss of what felt like an intact family as well as at the loss of the non custodial parent, and even a strong sense of powerlessness to being unable to prevent the divorce from happening. The simple act of divorce alone can be a very stressful event for any child. As such, the looming realization that things will be different, yet not knowing how, often plays to the fears of the child. Divorce for a child can often lead to reduced contact with the non custodial parent (often the father), lower standards of living, moving from one home to another, changing schools, having more responsibility thrust upon them, or even the potential for the custodial parent to be less psychologically or physically available for the child when they need them. All of these are environmental forces that can lead to an overwhelming amount of stress for any child, leaving them in a negative position and making it harder for them to cope and adjust to the divorce. Often times children can t mentally cope with the divorce, either. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved success. The theoretical yield of CaCO3 was calculated and then compared to the actual yield of CaCO3. The results suggest that the Theoretical Yield was 4.2246 grams and the Actual Yield was 4.24 grams, which gave a Percent Yield of 100.473% and a Percent Error of 0.473%. The actual yield was greater than the theoretical yield. It is suggested that it was greater than because I used two different filter papers and I only measured one. Multiculturalism In American Schools As discussed in our lecture, when we debated the various positions that Arthur Schlesinger took on in terms of teaching multiculturalism in American schools. He was not wholly against the teaching of multiculturalism, however, he did not advocate for teaching multiculturalism at a young age, when children are sensitive to learning about the identity of themselves and others. He believes that every culturehas their own history and their own historical perspective, but he believes that in American society, there is only one way to teach multiculturalism as to make sure that Americans stay unified, and children understand their roles as Americans. Of course, by other scholars, this perspective was to be disputed. By teaching American history through one historical perspective, it can leave out and sugar coat many crucial details about other historical perspectives and overlook the details of struggles of other persons involved and their contribution to American history. ... • 47. Theology 205 By Edward Lewis Lewis essay relates to this course as Theology provides a perspective on understanding creation, the transcendent power, and humanity around us. He acknowledges that multiple viewpoints exist from the inside and outside perspectives. Also, one cannot ignore or discount specific inside experiences as it helps us think about something. Therefore, in Theology205, there will inevitably be many ways to understand life, our purpose, and the people we are becoming. We are also covering the Bible in depth, so some of us will look at the beam if they have never read it, while others will look along the beam if they are familiar with its interpretations. The students who will look along the beam are those who are Christian or Jew, since they already use the Bible as some guidance in life. In contrast, those who look at the beam are ones who are new to this subject, those willing to view this course from a new lens, and those who do not practice Christianityor Judaism.... These are few examples of mandatory drug testing in high schools athletics and why it is needed across the country. Mandatory drug testing for high school athletes should be required because it decreases drug use in schools. By having mandatory drug testing in schools the risk for youth becoming addicted to drugs is lowered.
