Autism And Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Essay
In today s world, it is easy to label people based on what society defines as normal. Society dictates
how we view people on a daily basis and this forces people to view things from a singular perspective.
Unfortunately, this single point of view may lead to discrimination against people who are different.
For example, those with disabilities and other diagnoses are neglected, overlooked, or judged by those
who are influenced by that singular perspective. In specific, Autism which is referred to as Autistic
Spectrum Disorder, is something that the public has heard before but they do not fully understand or
are unaware about its true definition. According to the Centers for Disease Control s Autism and
Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM), approximately 1 in 68 children have been identified
with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (CDC, 2016). This increased prevalence is why it is important
to continue educating the public about those living with Autism as well as critical for social awareness
and for the overall health of the community.
Tipton and Blacher (2014) investigated how those in a college community observed the characteristics
and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participants were undergraduate students, graduate
students, faculty and staff at a major university in the Southwestern United States and were invited to
participate in a survey via email. The email was sent to the entire college community, which contained
a link to SurveyMonkey. The

The Garden
One of the most influential places in my life was my grandmothers garden; the garden was on half of
an acre and was large by California standards. The majority of the houses had very little space for a
yard if there was even a yard at all. My grandma wanted a garden when they bought the house: so my
grandpa dug up all the sod in the backyard, to make a space for the garden. I learned a lot about
gardening from my grandma, also a lot of analogies could be made about the garden.
The garden was very beautiful although it had no flowers. I was always impressed that there were
never any weeds to be seen. The soil was very dark and very rich; it was also very sandy, which meant
it drained well. The garden also had a very nice path that was throughout the garden, around every
plant so it was easier to take care of, I am not sure who put the path in, my grandpa or my uncle. My
grandma also taught me what plants not to grow together, she found out that when two squashes were
planted together; they cross pollinated. She had pumpkins and yellow squash that she grew together in
the same place that cross pollinated. When she planted the seeds the next year that she had saved from
the previous year: she got a cross between a pumpkin and a yellow squash. I also learned that I liked
fresh from the garden young lima beans. Until I started going to my grandparent s in California, I
never liked lima beans. Lima beans have a very strong flavor, sometimes they are bitter. Grandma told

Outline Of The Hillsborough Disaster
Title of The Study:
The Hillsborough Disaster April 15 1989
Outline Plan:
Define and Justify:
My project is about the Hillsborough Disaster which happened on the 15 April 1989, during the 1988
1989 FA Cup semi final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The disaster was a human crush
which took place at the Hillsborough football stadium in Sheffield, England, claiming the lives of 96
people and injuring 766 more. I chose this topic because I had watched a documentary on the disaster
and I have family members who are big Liverpool supporters.
Aims:
My aims are:
1: To investigate the causes of the crush.
2: To discover the historical significance of The Hillsborough Disaster and the aftermath.
3: To develop my research skills as an independent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This tunnel led down to pens 3 and 4, the pens situated directly behind the goal. Although there was
another tunnel leading to pens 1 and 2, this was poorly signed. When Gate C was opened, the mass
influx of people went straight ahead, into Tunnel 2. Because of this, those already in pens 3 and 4
began to get crushed. In the space of a few minutes, 2,000 fans had entered the tunnel marked 2. Some
fans climbed over the fences into less packed pens. However, those at the front of pens 3 and 4 had no
way of getting over the high metal fences and became crushed against them. One barrier in pen 3
collapsed, causing fans to fall on top of one another. Some fans were dragged to safety by those on the
upper tiers, while others managed to climb into other pens. At 3.06pm, the referee ended the game.
Advertising boards were used as makeshift stretchers to help those who had been crushed and First
Aid was given by other supporters to the injured. Only two ambulances reached the scene of the crush
and out of the 96 that died that day, only 14 were ever admitted to hospital. The main causes of this
human crush was because of police error in knowledge of crowd control and inability to keep order.
The stadium was also the cause because it was unsafe for large crowds and had been given a false

Peter Singer Examined Life Analysis
For thousands of years, philosophy was seen as a practice only available to white males that answered
questions dealing with reality and ethics. However, throughout the twentieth and twenty first
centuries, there have been calls for a more universal and inclusive philosophy that deals with more
relevant issues such as discrimination and poverty. In the documentary Examined Life, nine different
philosophers share their views on several types of subjects and all agree that philosophy is a tool for
learning about the world around them. Their ideas show that, as philosophy continues to grow, so
should its range of ideas and questions answered. For most of Western society, philosophy is a product
of Ancient Greece that deals with questions on the workings of reality and what is considered virtuous
or logical. However, this view of philosophy is exclusive and does not tell the entire story of
philosophy s history. In reality, philosophy is the product of humans ... Show more content on

Specifically, Singer questions why poverty exists when people are so willing to spend their money on
expensive items such as clothes. He says people claim they are always willing to save a child, even if
it meant their expensive shoes and clothes would become dirty. However, Singer argues they do not
consider that the money spent on their clothes could have saved numerous lives if they had donated to
a charity. Singer points out the prevalent conflict in society: people are willing to spend their money
on expensive shoes and cars but do not think to donate to charities that would help hundreds of people.
He argues poverty is a universal issue that could be solved if more people were willing to spend their
money on helping others in need. When Singer reveals the hypocrisy of most people regarding
spending money, he proves poverty is a widespread problem that must be solved since it affects so
many people around the

their members wanting to go back to having the same political ideas as the rebels did during the

England s unfair taxation. However, many different political groups have claimed that they were
responsible for the Tea Party. The main concept of this is that the Tea Party created a diversity of

The Role Of Animals In Egyptian Mythology
According to the ancient myth, Seth ruled over the Upper Egypt, while Horus ruled over the Lower
Egypt. There are also other gods in Egyptian mythology that possess the animalistic appearance. Some
of the most well known examples are: Anubis, the god of embalming and the dead, Thoth, the god of
writing and knowledge, Sobek, the god of the Nile, Bastet, the protective goddess and many other
gods. All of these gods have their animal forms and manifestation, their significance was closely
connected to animals they stood for. Actually, the animal they represented was determining the
characteristics of a certain deity, for example, the birds such as hawk or ibis were often considered the
symbol of wisdom and protection. Horus, for instance, was often listed as the protective god of the
Egyptians, the one who protects the pharaoh, and he possesses the head of the hawk. ... Show more

eye that Ra had lost, and as a reward he received the power over the night sky, that is, the moon. It

Thoth received a number of other functions, became the god of time and was considered the founder

Essay about Introduction of HIPPA Standards for Employees
Using the Foundation of Knowledge Model, I would explain to the vice president that knowledge
acquisition, which occurs through education and research, occurred in our department during a
morning huddle, where HIPPA standards were first introduced to members of our department
(McGonigle Mastrian, 2012). Through an introduction of what HIPPA meant for healthcare providers,
staff learned that HIPPA meant confidentiality of protected health information ( Health insurance,
2013). This meant staff were to only access patient information for patients they were taking care of
and they needed to be cautious with whom and where patient information was discussed. All staff
were required to complete a learning module and pass the module and ... Show more content on

Knowledge processing is the final step where knowledge is gathered or collected, perceived,
transmitted, and stored (McGonigle Mastrian, 2012). Staff gathered information about the importance
of HIPPA and the consequences of not following HIPPA. Knowing the importance and consequences
and what steps need to be taken to protect patient information, nurses are consciously aware of ways
to prevent violation of HIPPA. As new knowledge is acquired, techniques to prevent violation of
HIPPA will continue to arise and practice to prevent violation with continue to change to maintain
patient privacy.
Dear Vice President,
I would like to reassure you that my staff are very compliant with HIPPA. Since HIPPA was
introduced, staff have completed an annual HIPPA competency and signed a form stating their
understanding and willing to comply with HIPPA. It is evident that staff are taking measures to
prevent violations of HIPPA. In the hallways if a computer happens to be logged in with no user in
sight, staff members passing by will immediately log off the computer. Even though staff are
constantly reminded to never keep their computers logged in, there are instances where users are

logging off. With the implementation of bedside reporting and interdisciplinary

Purpose In The Gospel Of Luke
Purpose
While there are many more specific purposes in the Gospel of Luke, the overall purpose is a defense
of the Christian faith, useful for both evangelism and discipleship. Luke is an eloquent Gospel that
provided valuable information about the faith for the believers in the church that are still as applicable
today in the twenty first century. A primary purpose in the Gospel of Luke is to tell of the miraculous
conception, birth, and childhood of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Luke is the only Gospel (besides
Matthew) that focuses on the birth and virginal conception of Christ. The Gospels of Mark and John
give no information regarding the conception and birth of Christ; the first mention of Christ in these
Gospels is of Christ as a grown man. While Matthew gives account of the visit of the Magi and flight
into Egypt that occurred in the earliest years of the life of Christ (Matthew 2:1 23), Luke is ... Show

The Gospel of Luke begins with an introduction, then tells of the foretelling of the birth of John the
Baptist to the priest Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth (Luke 1:5 25). Zechariah and Elizabeth were
both of an advanced age, and Elizabeth had not yet born children. An angel of the Lord, Gabriel,
visited Zechariah to announce that Elizabeth would conceive and bear a son named John, even in her
advanced age. Zechariah was in disbelief at Gabriel s words, so Gabriel stated that Zechariah would
be unable to speak until the birth of John due to his disbelief. Elizabeth gave birth to a son, John the
Baptist, who would later preach and would baptize Jesus Christ. This miraculous conception and birth
is similar to the miraculous conception and birth of Isaac to Abraham and Sarah; Isaac and John the
Baptist were both babies that were heavily desired and prayed for by their parents, and were conceived
when their mothers were older and thought to be

High School Graduation Rates in California and the United...
Between 1990 and 2012, high school graduation rates in 25 29 year olds have increased from 86 to 90
percent; this overall national rise is reflected in each of the ethnicities, White, Hispanic, Black, and
Asian/Pacific Islander (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2013a). Prior to 2012,
nationwide standardized objective measures did not exist for measuring four year high school
graduation rates; tracking educational progress varied from state to state. Thus, state education data
collected from 1990 2012 are inaccurate as effective comparative groups unless knowledge of the state
specific previous methodologies is utilized (U.S. Department of Education, 2012a). Since 2012, the

Chen s state graduation rate data referenced the U.S. Department of Education to compare against her
national percentages; this strengthened her findings. According to Nhan (2012), the Department of
Education did not release national averages for race/ethnicity groups because several states had
requested deadline extensions for these numbers, resulting in an incomplete data set. Thus, California
s progress is difficult to measure against that of the United States. Additionally, Chen s results did not
provide the rates for sub divided racial/ethnic groups like that of California. This difference in how
students are labeled and/or reported may skew the national population demographic for each of Chen s
three reported minorities. In spite of this, her data portrays that Asian and Latino students in the U.S.
have significantly lower graduation rates than in California. Nationally, recent immigration and non
high school attendance in the U.S. contributes to the low percent for Latino students (Child Trends,
2013). Adversely, graduation rates for Black students in California reflect the national average.
Overall, these statistics point out that educational resources need to be more effectively allocated to
focus on California s Black communities and to Asian and Latino communities nationwide.

The Soviet Union As A Great Nation
Although often overlooked World War 2 can arguably seen as the most critical event in the history of
the Soviet Union. The result of the war was the epitome of Stalin s vision of success for the Soviet
Union. The War initially had a significantly positive impact on the Soviet Union in the short term,
however the results and effects of the War were a factor that ultimately led to the collapse of the
Soviet Union as a whole.
The short term impact World War 2 had for the Soviet Union was positive for the growth and
evolution of the Soviet Union. The War both enhanced nationalism, and propelled the Soviet Union to
a major world player. In the eyes of Stalin, WWII was exactly what the Soviet Union needed to evolve
into a great nation. The war created great sense of nationalism and unity that strengthened the core of
the Soviet Union. Just as Stalin had hoped for the Soviet Union became arguably the most
nationalistic world power at the time; looking at the way the Soviet Union fought the war can
reasonably conclude this. The Soviets didn t not fight the war conservatively whatsoever. Stalin and
the Soviet army would take risks and lose lives in the name of defeating fascist enemies. The Soviet
army fought the war as if they re entire societal system was on the line. Ordinary soldiers absorbed the
attitudes of the Nazi and the Soviet leaders. Both sides believed that defeat would lead to annihilation
of their way of life (Suny 343). Another positive impact WWII had on

Grecian Statue By Jeanette Winterson
Humans have a long history of expressing ourselves through medium for varying reasons that have not
always had to do with survival. We as a species have continued to try and portray our visons from
inside the mind to the tangible world for our fellow beings by using drawings. There are a multitude of
ways that the mind can reach our world. Some ways are seen as more familiar than others. If there are
more familiar ways, then there is also a less familiar way. The fine arts such as art are what separates a
satirical essay from a Grecian statue. Jeanette Winterson examines what art means to in our larger

The most dejected form of art are paintings. The thought of looking at art is sometimes too much for
some. Many say paintings are there they don t have tunes that make you chant along or possess
anything else that inter act. Going to the art museum can be like walking through a maze full of
confusion. There are unknown names and dates on each piece of art and most of them go right over a

Topic: Graphene
In 1924, British Physicist John Desmond Bernal determined the structure of graphite at the Davy
Faraday Laboratory at the Royal Institution in London. In his paper (Bernal, 1924) (1), Bernal wrote
about how the carbon atoms are arranged in a honeycomb lattice with free electrons allowing graphite
to conduct electricity. He also suspected that graphite can be made up of single layer plane carbon
atoms. Hence, leading to graphene stacks becoming graphite.
In 1946, Canadian Physicist Philip Russel Wallace was interested in finding out the properties of
graphite. At that point of time, due to limited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Graphene was also theorized by chemist Linus Pauling in 1960 when he was guessing what would the
properties and behaviors of a single layer of carbon atoms be like. In his book (Pauling, 1960) (3), he
explained the reason on why graphene would have strong bonds. This was largely due to the carbon
atoms sp2 orbitals and the flat two dimensional shape.
With advances in the scientific world, graphene was finally able to be observed through the
transmission electron microscope. At first, it was a few layers of graphene, but eventually G. Ruess
and F. Vogt was able to observe a single layer of graphene. In 1962, Chemist Hanns Peter Boehm also
observed graphene under an electron microscope. However, no one at that point of time knew how to
extract out graphene as whenever they tried isolating or creating it; graphene always interacts with the
surface and hence results in its properties being able to be measured accurately. Interestingly, despite
all of this research and testing, no one actually termed the word graphene . It was only in 1994, after
about 30 years since Boehm and his team isolated and identified graphene that he authored the
International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry that formally defines that these single layer carbon
atoms were termed graphene , following the ene suffix used for fused polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons (Hanns Peter Boehm, 1994) (4).

College Should Be Unobtainable
College is one of the most fundamental institutions in our modern world. It s a place where children
go to further their education and where most of our future doctors, politicians, and scientists are made.
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world. In the past
several years, rates are increasing higher than inflation and becoming even more unobtainable for
families. College should be more affordable for the following three reasons. First off, student debt
should be less of an issue. Secondly, a more educated country would increase the country s economy
and it would give us social benefits. After people graduate from college, if their degree warrants filling
a necessary void in the workplace,

The Adjustment Bureau Theme
I have always believed that everything happens for a reason. Now, I am not saying that I believe that
there is a larger plan for everyone s life. To clarify, I believe that there is no such thing as fate.
Alternatively the events that happen throughout an individual s life impacts their future in unknown
ways. The film The Adjustment Bureau (George Nolfi, 2011) is based on the short story The
Adjustment Team . The story was written by Philip K. Dick in 1966. The film s described as an action
thriller. It is about a man, who after seeing part of his future goes to great lengths to test his fate: in the
hope of being with the woman he loves (The Official Site of The Adjustment Bureau). Matt Damon
plays David Norris, a man with a promising political career. He has the potential to become the
President of the United States. Emily Blunt plays Elise Sellas, a talented dancer. Elise and David fall
in love with after a chance encounter. According to the members of the Adjustment Bureau, David and
Elise are not meant to be together. Therefore, the Adjustment Bureau intervenes to keep them on their
predetermined life path. David s unwillingness to accept that he and Elise are not meant to be together
is the foundation of the movie. Thus, fate seems to be the central theme of the film. Though, I concede
that fate is an important aspect of the film. I insist that power relations are also important to the
progression of the film. Hats in The Adjustment Bureau are a symbol of a

The US Army Signal Corps sent training teams to Vietnam, as well as provided training for
Vietnamese officers in the US. Communist insurgent groups began attacking in South Vietnam, killing
two Americans in 1959. It was during this time that the Army began using atmospheric scatter
technologies, bouncing radio waves off different layers of the atmosphere in order to communicate
beyond line of sight up to 400 miles away. (3) This system was modified to form the tactical
communications backbone for ground troops, where standard Army multi channel radios were utilized
in addition to the new troposcatter radios. Throughout the Vietnam Conflict, though, communication
between the geographically separated ground units and camps was improved through the introduction
of better radio equipment and radio retransmit systems. The milestone achieved in the Vietnam
Conflict, from a signal perspective, was the propagation of high quality commercial communications
to the Soldier in the field. In the years following the Vietnam Conflict and the draft, the Army
downsized yet again, contracting to an all volunteer force. In July of 1973, the Army placed all of its

Analysis Of Strange Characters In The Stranger
Strange Characters The Stranger by Albert Camus follows the story of a man named Meursault, who
received notice that his mother had passed away. Meursault was not emotionally connected to his
mother, and his reaction is not what the reader would expect, as he did not seem to care at all.
Therefore, the day after attending his mother s funeral, Meursault goes to the beach and meets up with
his girlfriend, Marie. After the beach, Meursault and Marie go to a movie and spend the night together.
When he returns home from work the next day, Meursault runs into his neighbor, Raymond. Later in
the story, Meursault, Marie, and Raymond go to a beach house, which is owned by one of Raymond s
friend, Masson. At the beach, Masson, Raymond, and Meursault run into two Arabs, one who happens
to be the brother of Raymond s mistress, who is obviously not on good terms with Raymond.
Therefore, a fight breaks out and Raymond is stabbed. Later, Raymond and Meursault return to the
beach, and run into the Arabs again. Meursault talks Raymond out of shooting the Arabs, however,
later Meursault shoots Raymond s mistress s brother. Meursault is arrested and is put in jail, goes
through trail, is found guilty and is sentenced to death. The characters in The Stranger are complex
and one can learn a great deal from them. By analysing The Stranger through the lens of character, and
specifically focusing of Marie, Raymond, and Meursault one learns a greater understanding of how

Reflecting on Literature and Community in The Lesson” by...
When people tell stories they tend to be about what they know. One thing that most people know is the
environment around them. They pick up habits from their family, friends, and neighbors. They begin
to talk like them using dialect and slang inherent to their region. Also, it is not uncommon for people
to write about a fictional community that is based from their own community. As community affects
how we write, writing can also affect the community. In other words, communities influence authors
of literature and literature can also influence communities. Language is how we express ourselves.
There are many different languages in our world. Within those languages there are different dialects.
Those dialects are affected by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I read this story I felt like my inner voice was developing a Southern Drawl. Faulkner s writing is
extremely eloquent and deliberate. The time period also comes out through the language in his writing
referring to African Americans as Negros and to Northerners as Yankees. It soon becomes quite
obvious that Faulkner must have been raised in the same time and place this story takes place.
Communities do not only affect the language of the author but they also can provide the community of
the author s work. Some communities act like an extended family and an author may want to show
that aspect. Sometimes an author may wish to write about a close knit community that knows
everyone else s business. Often a writer will write about their community, illustrating certain cultural
aspects that they hold dear. All of these can be examples of the writer s community coming to life in
their own stories. In A Rose for Emily, (DiYanni, 2007, pp. 79 84) Faulkner shows us a community
that is very involved with each other. They are constantly talking about what Miss Emily does, what
she says, and who she sees. The author speaks for the community using the pronoun we throughout
the story. He describes how the community reacts to Homer Barron trying to court her, At first we
were glad that Miss Emily would have an interest... (p. 82). Everyone becomes very interested in Miss

The Pros And Cons Of Cannibalism
As a human being, convincing a cannibal chieftain that I am not going to taste good for their dinner, is
actually a complicated situation to consider. Cannibalism is surprisingly not against the United States
law. It is misperceived that cannibalism is illegal. In reality, the reason why cannibalism is seen as
revolting is because of the thought of a person eating the flesh of another person. Cannibalism is seen
by people just like haggis and liver is seen as revolting to most people. When it comes to ethics, there
are different components that would claim the cannibal eating me is morally unacceptable. This can be
compared to killing another human being for no reason. Both of these cases contain the same common
thought that killing people no matter what the circumstance is morally incorrect. The majority of
society believes that cannibalism and homicide are both incorrect. This thought comes from three
views. The three views that can be used to describe if an action is morally correct are, the natural law
theory, relativism, and moral objectivism. These three views are looked at individually and not used
together. The natural law of theory deals with reasoning deduced from the nature of humanity
throughout society. Relativism deals with reasoning that is deduced within a certain culture. Moral
objectivism deals with reasoning deduced from universal morality. Cannibalism is not always seen as
incorrect in all societies. Some societies see cannibalism as a valid activity.

What Is Pagerank Is An Algorithm Developed By Sergey Brin...
Abstract:
PageRank is an algorithm developed by Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page which uses subset of network
analysis to understand associations between nodes in a linked database. The algorithm uses multitude
of parameters to assign PageRank to various pages and is the backbone to Google search functionality.
Rank assigned to a webpage is calculated based on the ranks of the webpage citing it.
This algorithm was developed as part of the research project supported by National Science
Foundation grant provided to Stanford University. The patent was filed by Stanford University in 1998
and is still owned by Stanford University, however Google has exclusive rights to use the patent.
PageRank is trademark of Google Inc. and Google pays royalties to Stanford University for using the
patent in Google search.
With the advent of computer technology in 1990 s the need to search large databases was increasingly

The Role of the Visual in Today s Society Essay
The Role of the Visual in Today s Society
The role of the visual in today s society is quite apparent. Beautiful, flashy images are everywhere in
the media, and all of them serve the same purpose. The purpose of all of these images is to get you,
the consumer to buy the product that is being sold, or at least buy into the idea that a particular product
represents. The role of the visual in modern architecture is very much the same. The purpose of the
visual in modern architecture is to publicize or privatize a building through any media necessary to
create the desired representation, and thereby sell the idea. In the case of Le Corbusier, the goal was to
create a very visual and public architecture. He recognized that not ... Show more content on

The few original pictures that Corbusier took of this building are what actually put Villa Savoye on the
map as an architectural achievement. The images speak of movement, seen in the ramp. They
demonstrate the progression one would take from the ground to the roof, and from there to the vast
expanse beyond. They also speak of the temporality of the building, as if it just happened to be there
when Corbusier was walking by and decided to take this picture. There is also an inherent lack of
privacy common to all of the images. It is as if the whole world can look inside of the building and see
what the occupants are doing, which is precisely what Corbusier wanted. Thus he took them and
published the images, which were then distributed all around the world. He also mad a movie of the
building called L Architecture d aujour hui (1929), which demonstrated his voyeuristic approach to
how architecture should be seen. Villa Savoye, for example, is an apparatus (like a cinema) that
privileges the eye over the body, movement over stasis, and fragmentation over unity. Every window
is a lens, a purely visual opening; circulation is a poetic event of movement, orchestrated by ramps
and spiral stairways; the house acts as a dynamic and shifting catalyst to experience, not as a static and
finite center of experience. Publishing these images, and the making of the movie ended up making
Villa Savoye possibly the most public building of the time, and one of the most popular buildings

Catastrophes In The Gulf Of Mexico
7 Years ago, in the Gulf of Mexico one of the worst catastrophes that has happened in modern history,
happened. Moreover, in the United States. The BP Gulf oil spill as you might of hear it called.
Although, British Petroleum has made every possible attempt to rename the mishap. Years later this
incident has had a huge impact in the local infrastructure. Furthermore, this was a compounding effect
on the Gulf, 5 short years since Hurricane Katrina leveled the coast. This was just another hit to the
gulf residents. The public relations of BP and this catastrophe were atrocious in the since that BP ran
away from the camera while they had no possible answer as to how they were going to stop the
massive spill. Another impact was sustained by the

As the hospital seeks to deliver exceptional patient care, a quality management program must also
confirm that laws and regulations are obeyed, liability and losses are controlled, and that revenues
progressively grow. In the process of creating this plan, the administration sets short term goals that
will lead to the realization of defined long term goals. Short Term Goals 1. Increase and sustain patient
care ratings 2. Improve productivity 3. Develop and execute a defined strategy to be in compliance
with approaching government regulation and law changes that affect the health care industry Long

Pride And Prejudice Research Paper
Skinny dipping with friends was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. When I first
thought about skinny dipping the idea kind of scared me because how often are you completely nude
around people who you are not romantically intimate with? And movies it always looks like so much
fun when a group of friends tear off their clothing and jump into a Beautiful secluded lake or Hot
Spring. The fun hey skinny dipping as help within the spontaneity of the whole thing. Randomly
deciding to swim nude as a friend experience and the one that still cannot be captured on social media.
I was concerned initially that being new around my friends would create some kind of sexual tension
between all of us but that was not something that resulted from this liberating experience. I think we
all too often associate nudity with sex because we live in such a repressed society where a mother
cannot even breastfeed her child in a public setting without receiving some kind of backlash. This
experience taught me to not fear being unclothed around people I am comfortable with. Being nude
with friends felt natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

point on it was no different than any other swimming experience I ve had, lots of fun and horseplay
ensued. We only stayed for about an hour once we began becoming worried that someone may check

Modernist Assault Research Paper
The Modernist Assault The 20th century was a period of exploration, advances, and discovery in a
revolutionary era. As science was evolving, art and architecture were too forming new ideas and
styles. Quantum physics gave way to a new process of thinking. This mentality spread rapidly and
went beyond the realm of physics and into the minds of various types of artists. Art movements that
transpired include Cubism, Futurism, and Fauvism; eventually leading to Nonobjective art.
Architecture modernization also becomes clear in observation of the International Style. First and
foremost, discovery in physics began a domino effect in the modernization of the world. Einstein
concluded that time and space are relative to the position of the observer, challenging Isaac Newton
(Fiero 376). Along with Werner Heisenberg, the two scientists set out to prove that things were not as

As science was evolving, art and architecture were too forming new ideas and styles. Starting with
Einstein, Newton, and Heisenberg in regard to quantum physics and leaping into architectural
advances, it is agreed that this was a revolutionary time for all who lived in this era. That being said,
Cubism, Futurism, and Fauvism are important styles in modernistic art. Whether it is literature, poetry,
song, or dance, these principles helped to shape the future and individual approach to create our own
perspective. The abstract styles discussed, paved the way for Nonobjective art to make its mark on
humanity and to make us feel and see uniquely. Not to mention, architecture and the International
style that later developed, teaching us modern design. The international style gave us unique
structures, distinctly showcasing new synthetic materials, floor plans, and roofs. As one can see,
modernistic art provides just as an important part of our everyday life as

Delay Analysis Of The Critical Path
All of the delay analysis techniques in this case study depend on the analysis of the critical path. These
methods are categorized as the CPM techniques for quantification. Methods like as planned vs. as
built are simple and easy to perform; it just follows the basic guidelines without referencing with the
supplementary data and any modification. On the other hand, methods like window analysis, collapsed
as built using complex, additive and subtractive analysis give better and accurate results because they
take into account any changes during the project and therefore recommended for incorporating in
delay analysis. Not to mention, these methods need detailed project information followed by rigorous
analysis. The results could have been more specific if detailed information in the form of daily reports,
schedule of values and pay application would have been available. By sticking to the basic number of
delay in activities, most of the results are observed to be close if not same. This research corroborates
the use of impacted as planned, collapsed as built, time impact analysis and as planned but for, for the
analysis of delays in day to day industry scenarios because calculation of delays and attribution can be
easily carried out with these methods. With extensive information and rigorous analysis of the same,
better and more efficient results can be observed. Concurrent delays are the most disputatious of the
delays and are still unresolved. There is no specific

How The Pollutants Affect Communities Living Along The Strait
Communities located along the Strait of Juan de Fuca are being affected by something that s hidden in
the water. It is something which communities have attempted to fix; however, there is still a lot that
needs to be done to completely reverse the effects it has made. This hidden thing is the pollutants
humans have intentionally and unintentionally dumped into the Strait of Juan De Fuca. The dumping
of sewage, the leaking of industrial waste, and the flushing of household waste are all contributing to
the build up of toxic pollutants in the Strait. Individuals will discovers the ways the Strait has been
affected by certain pollutants, will learn about the plans communities have started in an attempt to
mitigate the impact, and will find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can therefore conclude that negative side effects from water contamination extend to rural areas
where dumping sites may not be present.
When we look at the fish along the Strait we seem to see the same results. In a study done on Toxic
Contaminants in Dungeness Crab (2014), they found mercury and PCB s or Polychlorinated
Biphenyls in multiple different species of fish, two of the species being Chinook and Coho, which is
consumed by community s along the Sound (Carey, Niewolny, Lanksbury West). PCB s were used for
electrical equipment in the past. The manufacturing of PCB s was stopped in 1977. However, there is
evidence that shows PCB builds up in the environment ( PCBs ). This shows the impact waste can
have decades after it has been mitigated, and why it is important to stop any further damage.
Next there are shellfish beds that have been shut down due to their toxicity levels along the Strait. The
Washington Department of Health (DOH), has a map that allows individuals to see which areas are
closed for shellfish harvesting, both commercially and recreationally. Regarding Port Angeles, it is
shown as being completely closed to shellfish harvest due to pollution, with the primary cause being
Sewage Outfall. The pollutants in the water are absorbed by the shellfish along with any viruses and
bacteria, which then causes any human who consumes the

Non-Cell Autonomous Tumor Supression by p53
Non Cell Autonomous Tumor Suppression by p53
Introduction and significance for the entire manuscript (Guide: approx one quarter page/150 words).
The p53 is a vital tumour suppressor protein in humans which is important for cell cycle regulation.
Ablation of the p53 protein causes the cell to proliferate infinitely that contributes to the development
of tumours. Through the cell autonomous program the cell cycle arrest and apoptosis is caused by the
presence of p53. The aim of the journal is to study cellular senescence program in hepatic stellate cells
that is p53 dependent which is formed by dying hepatocytes which secret factors that influence the
tissue microenvironment, preventing fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer via promoting p53 senescent
in these HSCs. The research objectives explain that fibrosis is limited through the p53 mediated
senescence program by stopping HSC proliferation through cell autonomous canonical senescence
regulators and the non cell autonomous effects of SASP on ECM and immune surveillance. Currently
there is a debate on the role p53 plays in HSCs which influences later stages of liver cancer and the
research exhibits that through non cell autonomous mechanisms, p53 can inhibit cancer by
manipulating the tissue microenvironment.

Lady Of The Camellias Book Vs Movie
The Camille a beautiful flower, symbolizing the purest of love, the most passionate desire, the deepest
devotion and a graceful death (). The novel The Lady of the Camellias exquisitely captured everything
a camellia represents through the raw and tender love story of a kept woman named Marguerite
Gautier and a young gentleman named Armand Duval. Based on a true story and published in 1848,
the writer Alexander Dumas Fils did not compromise the lust and idolatry this couple had for each
other. In contrast, the movie adaptation titled Camille directed by Gregor Cukor, produced by irving
Thalberg and written by James Hilton, published in 1936, simply captured a diluted version of the
love story. The movie never lacked in the extravagance and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The introduction of the book, consisting of Dumas Fils going to Marguerites auction and then later
meeting Armand was completely taken out of the film. Although, that portion was unneeded in
capturing the story it would have been a nice touch to see how Dumas Fils fell upon his muse. The
movie then begins with Marguerite and Armand meeting at the theater, although, unlike the book the
characters seem to have a splendid time together, with Armand acting anything but foolish and
Marguerite saying nothing that was humorous, witty or charming. Although, this is how a romance in
a movie usually starts, the book was more truthful and unrefined, making the characters more likeable
and easier to relate to. After this scene it was evident that the characters were more sublime
throughout the movie and less unrealistic. For example in the book when M. Duval told Marguerite
that she had to leave Armand she fought for her love with every ounce of her emotion, crying phrases
like do you believe that I have made this love the hope, dream and redemption of my life (191).
However, the movie did not capture that same intensity of heart ache. In the film it did not take much
effort for M. Duval to convince her that she was not worthy of Armand because of her past affairs.
This consequenced in the film not having that same earnestness as the book, causing there to not

Enterprise Systems Architecture Of An Organization
Enterprise Systems Architecture
Kerven Nelson
Nova Southeastern University
Enterprise system Architecture (ESA) is the overall IT system architecture of an organization. This
architecture is the key part of managing and evolving IT systems, and therefore the business
operations, of an organization. It consists of the architectures of individual systems and their
relationships in the perspective of an organization. The Air Force has a limited idea of what enterprise
architecture is, how it works, and most importantly, why it is needed.
The point of this paper is to discuss these key questions, to present some guidelines for
implementation of enterprise architecture, and make people aware of some of the possible
consequence of enterprise architecture development. Architecture is known to be necessary when
considering the design of a new building. However, architecture is equally as important when
considering the design and creation of a composite system within a business. Whether a business is
expanding or new area is being planned, the same issues must be considered (e.g. integrated services,
interoperable systems, and efficient operations). The end result of architecture is the arrangement of
mechanisms under familiar principles that ease change management and ensure integrated and
successful operation. The Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) council considers an enterprise as
an organization supporting a defined business scope and task and contains

Diaphragic Pressure Essay
If the therapist has access to an electronic medical record, noting transdiaphragmatic pressure from a
pulmonologists evaluation is the best indicator of diaphragmatic strength. This is measured as the
difference between intraabdominal pressure and intrathoracic pressure. Documenting diaphragmatic
weakness as a diagnosis should be considered when evaluating breathless patients. 44 Observation
will be the next tool to help identify those patients with dysfunctional breathing as a result of a poor
ZOA. Other authors recommend assessment in supine with a comparison made between sitting and
supine. Issues will be more pronounced in supine. A reduction in vital capacity (perceived
breathlessness) or reports of orthopnea is another indicator of DD. McCool2 Mier Jedrzejowicz et al
found that patients with the most severe orthopnea had the weakest diaphragms.44 In these patients,
the physical therapist should also look for the abdominal paradox. In this clinical sign the weakened
and flattened diaphragm contracts inwardly, as opposed to inferiorly, pulling the rib cage with it. It is a
result of the change in the orientation of the diaphragm, the loss of the ZOA and its resultant
ineffectiveness in moving the rib cage outwardly. Urmey/De Troyer/Kelly/Loring45 The abdominal
paradox will most likely be identified in these patients in sitting and ... Show more content on

The Great Man Is A Great Woman
There is a saying that goes Behind a great man is a great women . Maybe there was a great woman
behind Abraham Lincoln who told him what decisions to take. Someone who was there to support his
actions and give him feedback. Mary Todd Lincoln wasn t always a Lincoln, her maiden name was
Mary Ann Todd otherwise known as Molly . She was born in Lexington, Kentucky in the date of
December 13, 1818. Mary s hometown: Lexington was surprisingly founded by her family. She was
the daughter of Robert Smith Todd and Elizabeth Ann Todd. She had two brothers and two sisters. She
was born into a wealthy family who didn t have to suffer and gave her the basic resources she needed
growing up (Mary Ann Lincoln (Todd), www.Geni.com). Although, at the age of six, her mother
Elizabeth passed away and afterwards her father decided that it was time to re marry. Other than this,
her infancy was pretty set up to a good start, because she had a good educational career. She even had
a private education throughout her life and attended the Aristocracy of Lexington (Mary Todd Lincoln,
Whitehouse.gov). As a child, Mary was always lively and impulsive with the way she acted and the
decisions she made. Even her parents and friends recognized this. Still, when she grew up, she kept
her personality the same and this brought both fortune and misfortune. While still in her educational
steps, she overachieved in arts and also in cultural studies. As a result, she gained a genuine interest in
politics.

Running Head: Employee Development
Employee Development and the

In today s competitive business world, it is important to have fully trained and well versed employees,
which can help make or break an organization. By having an employee development plan, or career
path if you will, it allows employees to set career goals. This allows companies to ensure employees
are fully capable of performing their assigned duties. The following chapter, Chapter 9, discussed
methods of employee development. This chapter covered current trends associated with formal

This premise is so important that many companies now use web based matching systems to help
match mentors and protégés (Noe, 2010). Companies can also utilize software to also build
development plans, set goals and track the mentors and protégés progress. Wyndham s hotel chain
found that their mentorship program participation tripled once they introduced the web based
matching system (Noe, 2010).
Coaching, normally utilized at the managerial level, provides employees with resources that they
might not normally have access to, such as mentors, courses and job experiences (Noe, 2010). It is
imperative that the right coaches are selected for these developmental programs. The best coaches are
those that are empathetic, supportive, practical, and self confident while appearing to not know it all or
want to tell others what to do (Noe, 2010). By providing coaching to new managers, it teaches them
how to deal with a variety of situations in the workplace while maintaining professionalism and the
corporate goals.
In conclusion, while conducting this review, I found that this chapter offered many tools that can be
utilized to develop an effective training plan. While any form of employee development is beneficial,
mentoring and coaching have proven to be very effective. By offering these volunteer programs, it
allows all parties involved, the mentor,

Beatrice In William Faulkner s Much Ado About Nothing
This was an interesting book and I also took the time to watch the movie as well which helped
understand the characters, setting, and reasoning behind the writing a little better. The book opens up
with Willie and Lymon headed to Pittsburgh with a truckload of water melon in the back. They arrive
at Boy Willie sister s house and he is eager to get inside to see her, for it has been 3 years. While Boy
Willie is only there to grabbed the piano, Lymon has other plans to stay in Pittsburgh. While in the
house, Willie continues to yell for Beatrice while the entire family is still sleeping. I was kind of

accusations. A few days later, Willie and Lymon are still selling water melon and seem to be having
some trouble. The truck used to transport the water melon keeps breaking down which will make it
difficult for them to make money. Not only do they have to fix the truck but they also need to find a
way of transportation. Boy Willie finally talks about how he has found someone who will purchase the
piano, but is having a hard time getting the approval from Beatrice. Doaker then ends up telling them
how the piano came to be theirs. During the slave era, this instrument was traded for two slaves. The
book ends rather disappointing, Willie is now saying his goodbyes and this is when you realize that his
determination to sell that piano didn t pay off. Which brings me to the conclusion that he never made
enough money to purchase the land while he continues to keep selling water

American Laws And The Lgbtq Community
American Laws and the LGBTQ+ Community Discrimination [dih skrim uh ney shuh n]: treatment or
consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group,
class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Right from the
dictionary, the definition is clear. Look back 95 years to 1920, where women across America raised
their voices and fought back for the right to vote. Now take a look back 48 years ago when in 1967,
interracial marriage was finally legalized. These were all monumental events fighting against
discrimination. However, the definition is still blurring in minds of some across America as a
multitude of bills are being passed permitting people to act with bigotry towards members of the
LGBTQ+ community, the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts just being one of them. In discussions
of bills such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, or RFRA s, one controversial issue has been
whether or not they permit discrimination. On one hand, those supporting the laws argue that they
only reinforce the free practice of religion. On the other hand, those against them contend that with
their vagueness it plays out as disguising legal discrimination. My own view is that the RFRA s and
other anti LGBTQ+ laws should be repealed or at the very least backed with a state wide non
discrimination law for LGBTQ+ individuals. This is in order to prevent a large amount of service
being denied to LGBTQ+

  • 2. Autism And Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Essay In today s world, it is easy to label people based on what society defines as normal. Society dictates how we view people on a daily basis and this forces people to view things from a singular perspective. Unfortunately, this single point of view may lead to discrimination against people who are different. For example, those with disabilities and other diagnoses are neglected, overlooked, or judged by those who are influenced by that singular perspective. In specific, Autism which is referred to as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, is something that the public has heard before but they do not fully understand or are unaware about its true definition. According to the Centers for Disease Control s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM), approximately 1 in 68 children have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (CDC, 2016). This increased prevalence is why it is important to continue educating the public about those living with Autism as well as critical for social awareness and for the overall health of the community. Tipton and Blacher (2014) investigated how those in a college community observed the characteristics and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participants were undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and staff at a major university in the Southwestern United States and were invited to participate in a survey via email. The email was sent to the entire college community, which contained a link to SurveyMonkey. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Garden One of the most influential places in my life was my grandmothers garden; the garden was on half of an acre and was large by California standards. The majority of the houses had very little space for a yard if there was even a yard at all. My grandma wanted a garden when they bought the house: so my grandpa dug up all the sod in the backyard, to make a space for the garden. I learned a lot about gardening from my grandma, also a lot of analogies could be made about the garden. The garden was very beautiful although it had no flowers. I was always impressed that there were never any weeds to be seen. The soil was very dark and very rich; it was also very sandy, which meant it drained well. The garden also had a very nice path that was throughout the garden, around every plant so it was easier to take care of, I am not sure who put the path in, my grandpa or my uncle. My grandma also taught me what plants not to grow together, she found out that when two squashes were planted together; they cross pollinated. She had pumpkins and yellow squash that she grew together in the same place that cross pollinated. When she planted the seeds the next year that she had saved from the previous year: she got a cross between a pumpkin and a yellow squash. I also learned that I liked fresh from the garden young lima beans. Until I started going to my grandparent s in California, I never liked lima beans. Lima beans have a very strong flavor, sometimes they are bitter. Grandma told ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Outline Of The Hillsborough Disaster Title of The Study: The Hillsborough Disaster April 15 1989 Outline Plan: Define and Justify: My project is about the Hillsborough Disaster which happened on the 15 April 1989, during the 1988 1989 FA Cup semi final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The disaster was a human crush which took place at the Hillsborough football stadium in Sheffield, England, claiming the lives of 96 people and injuring 766 more. I chose this topic because I had watched a documentary on the disaster and I have family members who are big Liverpool supporters. Aims: My aims are: 1: To investigate the causes of the crush. 2: To discover the historical significance of The Hillsborough Disaster and the aftermath. 3: To develop my research skills as an independent ... Although there was another tunnel leading to pens 1 and 2, this was poorly signed. When Gate C was opened, the mass influx of people went straight ahead, into Tunnel 2. Because of this, those already in pens 3 and 4 began to get crushed. In the space of a few minutes, 2,000 fans had entered the tunnel marked 2. Some fans climbed over the fences into less packed pens. However, those at the front of pens 3 and 4 had no way of getting over the high metal fences and became crushed against them. One barrier in pen 3 collapsed, causing fans to fall on top of one another. Some fans were dragged to safety by those on the upper tiers, while others managed to climb into other pens. At 3.06pm, the referee ended the game. Advertising boards were used as makeshift stretchers to help those who had been crushed and First Aid was given by other supporters to the injured. Only two ambulances reached the scene of the crush and out of the 96 that died that day, only 14 were ever admitted to hospital. The main causes of this human crush was because of police error in knowledge of crowd control and inability to keep order. The stadium was also the cause because it was unsafe for large crowds and had been given a false safety ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Peter Singer Examined Life Analysis For thousands of years, philosophy was seen as a practice only available to white males that answered questions dealing with reality and ethics. However, throughout the twentieth and twenty first centuries, there have been calls for a more universal and inclusive philosophy that deals with more relevant issues such as discrimination and poverty. In the documentary Examined Life, nine different philosophers share their views on several types of subjects and all agree that philosophy is a tool for learning about the world around them. Their ideas show that, as philosophy continues to grow, so should its range of ideas and questions answered. For most of Western society, philosophy is a product of Ancient Greece that deals with questions on the workings of reality and what is considered virtuous or logical. However, this view of philosophy is exclusive and does not tell the entire story of philosophy s history. In reality, philosophy is the product of humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specifically, Singer questions why poverty exists when people are so willing to spend their money on expensive items such as clothes. He says people claim they are always willing to save a child, even if it meant their expensive shoes and clothes would become dirty. However, Singer argues they do not consider that the money spent on their clothes could have saved numerous lives if they had donated to a charity. Singer points out the prevalent conflict in society: people are willing to spend their money on expensive shoes and cars but do not think to donate to charities that would help hundreds of people. He argues poverty is a universal issue that could be solved if more people were willing to spend their money on helping others in need. When Singer reveals the hypocrisy of most people regarding spending money, he proves poverty is a widespread problem that must be solved since it affects so many people around the ... • 7. The Role Of Animals In Egyptian Mythology According to the ancient myth, Seth ruled over the Upper Egypt, while Horus ruled over the Lower Egypt. There are also other gods in Egyptian mythology that possess the animalistic appearance. Some of the most well known examples are: Anubis, the god of embalming and the dead, Thoth, the god of writing and knowledge, Sobek, the god of the Nile, Bastet, the protective goddess and many other gods. All of these gods have their animal forms and manifestation, their significance was closely connected to animals they stood for. • 8. Essay about Introduction of HIPPA Standards for Employees Using the Foundation of Knowledge Model, I would explain to the vice president that knowledge acquisition, which occurs through education and research, occurred in our department during a morning huddle, where HIPPA standards were first introduced to members of our department (McGonigle Mastrian, 2012). Through an introduction of what HIPPA meant for healthcare providers, staff learned that HIPPA meant confidentiality of protected health information ( Health insurance, 2013). This meant staff were to only access patient information for patients they were taking care of and they needed to be cautious with whom and where patient information was discussed. All staff were required to complete a learning module and pass the module and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowledge processing is the final step where knowledge is gathered or collected, perceived, transmitted, and stored (McGonigle Mastrian, 2012). Staff gathered information about the importance of HIPPA and the consequences of not following HIPPA. As new knowledge is acquired, techniques to prevent violation of HIPPA will continue to arise and practice to prevent violation with continue to change to maintain patient privacy. Dear Vice President, I would like to reassure you that my staff are very compliant with HIPPA. Since HIPPA was introduced, staff have completed an annual HIPPA competency and signed a form stating their understanding and willing to comply with HIPPA. It is evident that staff are taking measures to prevent violations of HIPPA. • 9. Purpose In The Gospel Of Luke Purpose While there are many more specific purposes in the Gospel of Luke, the overall purpose is a defense of the Christian faith, useful for both evangelism and discipleship. Luke is an eloquent Gospel that provided valuable information about the faith for the believers in the church that are still as applicable today in the twenty first century. A primary purpose in the Gospel of Luke is to tell of the miraculous conception, birth, and childhood of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Luke is the only Gospel (besides Matthew) that focuses on the birth and virginal conception of Christ. The Gospels of Mark and John give no information regarding the conception and birth of Christ; the first mention of Christ in these Gospels is of Christ as a grown man. While Matthew gives account of the visit of the Magi and flight into Egypt that occurred in the earliest years of the life of Christ (Matthew 2:1 23), Luke is ... The Gospel of Luke begins with an introduction, then tells of the foretelling of the birth of John the Baptist to the priest Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth (Luke 1:5 25). Zechariah and Elizabeth were both of an advanced age, and Elizabeth had not yet born children. An angel of the Lord, Gabriel, visited Zechariah to announce that Elizabeth would conceive and bear a son named John, even in her advanced age. Zechariah was in disbelief at Gabriel s words, so Gabriel stated that Zechariah would be unable to speak until the birth of John due to his disbelief. Elizabeth gave birth to a son, John the Baptist, who would later preach and would baptize Jesus Christ. This miraculous conception and birth is similar to the miraculous conception and birth of Isaac to Abraham and Sarah; Isaac and John the Baptist were both babies that were heavily desired and prayed for by their parents, and were conceived when their mothers were older and thought to be ... Between 1990 and 2012, high school graduation rates in 25 29 year olds have increased from 86 to 90 percent; this overall national rise is reflected in each of the ethnicities, White, Hispanic, Black, and Asian/Pacific Islander (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2013a). Prior to 2012, nationwide standardized objective measures did not exist for measuring four year high school graduation rates; tracking educational progress varied from state to state. Thus, state education data collected from 1990 2012 are inaccurate as effective comparative groups unless knowledge of the state specific previous methodologies is utilized (U.S. Department of Education, 2012a). Chen s state graduation rate data referenced the U.S. Department of Education to compare against her national percentages; this strengthened her findings. According to Nhan (2012), the Department of Education did not release national averages for race/ethnicity groups because several states had requested deadline extensions for these numbers, resulting in an incomplete data set. Thus, California s progress is difficult to measure against that of the United States. Additionally, Chen s results did not provide the rates for sub divided racial/ethnic groups like that of California. This difference in how students are labeled and/or reported may skew the national population demographic for each of Chen s three reported minorities. In spite of this, her data portrays that Asian and Latino students in the U.S. have significantly lower graduation rates than in California. Nationally, recent immigration and non high school attendance in the U.S. contributes to the low percent for Latino students (Child Trends, 2013). Adversely, graduation rates for Black students in California reflect the national average. Overall, these statistics point out that educational resources need to be more effectively allocated to focus on California s Black communities and to Asian and Latino communities nationwide. • 12. The Soviet Union As A Great Nation Although often overlooked World War 2 can arguably seen as the most critical event in the history of the Soviet Union. The result of the war was the epitome of Stalin s vision of success for the Soviet Union. The War initially had a significantly positive impact on the Soviet Union in the short term, however the results and effects of the War were a factor that ultimately led to the collapse of the Soviet Union as a whole. The short term impact World War 2 had for the Soviet Union was positive for the growth and evolution of the Soviet Union. The War both enhanced nationalism, and propelled the Soviet Union to a major world player. In the eyes of Stalin, WWII was exactly what the Soviet Union needed to evolve into a great nation. The war created great sense of nationalism and unity that strengthened the core of the Soviet Union. Just as Stalin had hoped for the Soviet Union became arguably the most nationalistic world power at the time; looking at the way the Soviet Union fought the war can reasonably conclude this. The Soviets didn t not fight the war conservatively whatsoever. Stalin and the Soviet army would take risks and lose lives in the name of defeating fascist enemies. The Soviet army fought the war as if they re entire societal system was on the line. Ordinary soldiers absorbed the attitudes of the Nazi and the Soviet leaders. Both sides believed that defeat would lead to annihilation of their way of life (Suny 343). Another positive impact WWII had on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a multitude of ways that the mind can reach our world. Some ways are seen as more familiar than others. If there are more familiar ways, then there is also a less familiar way. In his paper (Bernal, 1924) (1), Bernal wrote about how the carbon atoms are arranged in a honeycomb lattice with free electrons allowing graphite to conduct electricity. He also suspected that graphite can be made up of single layer plane carbon atoms. Hence, leading to graphene stacks becoming graphite. Graphene was also theorized by chemist Linus Pauling in 1960 when he was guessing what would the properties and behaviors of a single layer of carbon atoms be like. In his book (Pauling, 1960) (3), he explained the reason on why graphene would have strong bonds. This was largely due to the carbon atoms sp2 orbitals and the flat two dimensional shape. With advances in the scientific world, graphene was finally able to be observed through the transmission electron microscope. At first, it was a few layers of graphene, but eventually G. Ruess and F. Vogt was able to observe a single layer of graphene. In 1962, Chemist Hanns Peter Boehm also observed graphene under an electron microscope. However, no one at that point of time knew how to extract out graphene as whenever they tried isolating or creating it; graphene always interacts with the surface and hence results in its properties being able to be measured accurately. Interestingly, despite all of this research and testing, no one actually termed the word graphene . It was only in 1994, after about 30 years since Boehm and his team isolated and identified graphene that he authored the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry that formally defines that these single layer carbon atoms were termed graphene , following the ene suffix used for fused polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (Hanns Peter Boehm, 1994) (4). To clarify, I believe that there is no such thing as fate. Alternatively the events that happen throughout an individual s life impacts their future in unknown ways. The film The Adjustment Bureau (George Nolfi, 2011) is based on the short story The Adjustment Team . The story was written by Philip K. Dick in 1966. The film s described as an action thriller. It is about a man, who after seeing part of his future goes to great lengths to test his fate: in the hope of being with the woman he loves (The Official Site of The Adjustment Bureau). Matt Damon plays David Norris, a man with a promising political career. He has the potential to become the President of the United States. Emily Blunt plays Elise Sellas, a talented dancer. Elise and David fall in love with after a chance encounter. According to the members of the Adjustment Bureau, David and Elise are not meant to be together. Therefore, the Adjustment Bureau intervenes to keep them on their predetermined life path. David s unwillingness to accept that he and Elise are not meant to be together is the foundation of the movie. Thus, fate seems to be the central theme of the film. Though, I concede that fate is an important aspect of the film. I insist that power relations are also important to the progression of the film. Hats in The Adjustment Bureau are a symbol of a ... Also, it is not uncommon for people to write about a fictional community that is based from their own community. As community affects how we write, writing can also affect the community. Communities do not only affect the language of the author but they also can provide the community of the author s work. Cannibalism is surprisingly not against the United States law. It is misperceived that cannibalism is illegal. In reality, the reason why cannibalism is seen as revolting is because of the thought of a person eating the flesh of another person. Cannibalism is seen by people just like haggis and liver is seen as revolting to most people. When it comes to ethics, there are different components that would claim the cannibal eating me is morally unacceptable. This can be compared to killing another human being for no reason. Both of these cases contain the same common thought that killing people no matter what the circumstance is morally incorrect. The majority of society believes that cannibalism and homicide are both incorrect. This thought comes from three views. The three views that can be used to describe if an action is morally correct are, the natural law theory, relativism, and moral objectivism. These three views are looked at individually and not used together. The natural law of theory deals with reasoning deduced from the nature of humanity throughout society. Abstract: PageRank is an algorithm developed by Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page which uses subset of network analysis to understand associations between nodes in a linked database. The algorithm uses multitude of parameters to assign PageRank to various pages and is the backbone to Google search functionality. Rank assigned to a webpage is calculated based on the ranks of the webpage citing it. This algorithm was developed as part of the research project supported by National Science Foundation grant provided to Stanford University. The patent was filed by Stanford University in 1998 and is still owned by Stanford University, however Google has exclusive rights to use the patent. PageRank is trademark of Google Inc. and Google pays royalties to Stanford University for using the patent in Google search. With the advent of computer technology in 1990 s the need to search large databases was increasingly becoming vital. The search engines prior to PageRank had limitations, the then most widely used algorithm used text based indexes to provide search results on World Wide Web however had limitations of improper search results as the logic used by the search engines looked at the number of occurrences of the search word in webpage which sometimes resulted in improper search results. The role of the visual in modern architecture is very much the same. The few original pictures that Corbusier took of this building are what actually put Villa Savoye on the map as an architectural achievement. The images speak of movement, seen in the ramp. They demonstrate the progression one would take from the ground to the roof, and from there to the vast expanse beyond. They also speak of the temporality of the building, as if it just happened to be there when Corbusier was walking by and decided to take this picture. There is also an inherent lack of privacy common to all of the images. It is as if the whole world can look inside of the building and see what the occupants are doing, which is precisely what Corbusier wanted. Thus he took them and published the images, which were then distributed all around the world. He also mad a movie of the building called L Architecture d aujour hui (1929), which demonstrated his voyeuristic approach to how architecture should be seen. Villa Savoye, for example, is an apparatus (like a cinema) that privileges the eye over the body, movement over stasis, and fragmentation over unity. Every window is a lens, a purely visual opening; circulation is a poetic event of movement, orchestrated by ramps and spiral stairways; the house acts as a dynamic and shifting catalyst to experience, not as a static and finite center of experience. This architecture is the key part of managing and evolving IT systems, and therefore the business operations, of an organization. It consists of the architectures of individual systems and their relationships in the perspective of an organization. The Air Force has a limited idea of what enterprise architecture is, how it works, and most importantly, why it is needed. The point of this paper is to discuss these key questions, to present some guidelines for implementation of enterprise architecture, and make people aware of some of the possible consequence of enterprise architecture development. Architecture is known to be necessary when considering the design of a new building. However, architecture is equally as important when considering the design and creation of a composite system within a business. Whether a business is expanding or new area is being planned, the same issues must be considered (e.g. integrated services, interoperable systems, and efficient operations). Documenting diaphragmatic weakness as a diagnosis should be considered when evaluating breathless patients. 44 Observation will be the next tool to help identify those patients with dysfunctional breathing as a result of a poor ZOA. Other authors recommend assessment in supine with a comparison made between sitting and supine. Issues will be more pronounced in supine. A reduction in vital capacity (perceived breathlessness) or reports of orthopnea is another indicator of DD. McCool2 Mier Jedrzejowicz et al found that patients with the most severe orthopnea had the weakest diaphragms.44 In these patients, the physical therapist should also look for the abdominal paradox. In this clinical sign the weakened and flattened diaphragm contracts inwardly, as opposed to inferiorly, pulling the rib cage with it. It is a result of the change in the orientation of the diaphragm, the loss of the ZOA and its resultant ineffectiveness in moving the rib cage outwardly. But muscles that attach to the rib cage should also be assessed for proper length. The pectoralis major attaches to the superior 6 costal cartilages. If there is limitation in horizontal abduction, one can assume that there will be resultant tightness in the rib mobility where the muscle attaches. If there is latissimus or intercostal tightness, there may be a limitation in shoulder flexion. Length of the anterior neck musculature can be assessed during exhalation. The sternum should be able to descend fully without concomitant posterior cranial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Someone who was there to support his actions and give him feedback. Mary Todd Lincoln wasn t always a Lincoln, her maiden name was Mary Ann Todd otherwise known as Molly . She was born in Lexington, Kentucky in the date of December 13, 1818. Mary s hometown: Lexington was surprisingly founded by her family. She was the daughter of Robert Smith Todd and Elizabeth Ann Todd. She had two brothers and two sisters. She was born into a wealthy family who didn t have to suffer and gave her the basic resources she needed growing up (Mary Ann Lincoln (Todd), www.Geni.com). Other than this, her infancy was pretty set up to a good start, because she had a good educational career. She even had a private education throughout her life and attended the Aristocracy of Lexington (Mary Todd Lincoln, Whitehouse.gov). As a child, Mary was always lively and impulsive with the way she acted and the decisions she made. Even her parents and friends recognized this. This premise is so important that many companies now use web based matching systems to help match mentors and protĂ©gĂ©s (Noe, 2010). Companies can also utilize software to also build development plans, set goals and track the mentors and protĂ©gĂ©s progress. Wyndham s hotel chain found that their mentorship program participation tripled once they introduced the web based matching system (Noe, 2010). Coaching, normally utilized at the managerial level, provides employees with resources that they might not normally have access to, such as mentors, courses and job experiences (Noe, 2010). It is imperative that the right coaches are selected for these developmental programs. The best coaches are those that are empathetic, supportive, practical, and self confident while appearing to not know it all or want to tell others what to do (Noe, 2010). By providing coaching to new managers, it teaches them how to deal with a variety of situations in the workplace while maintaining professionalism and the corporate goals. In conclusion, while conducting this review, I found that this chapter offered many tools that can be utilized to develop an effective training plan. While any form of employee development is beneficial, mentoring and coaching have proven to be very effective. By offering these volunteer programs, it allows all parties involved, the mentor, ... • 36. Beatrice In William Faulkner s Much Ado About Nothing This was an interesting book and I also took the time to watch the movie as well which helped understand the characters, setting, and reasoning behind the writing a little better. The book opens up with Willie and Lymon headed to Pittsburgh with a truckload of water melon in the back. They arrive at Boy Willie sister s house and he is eager to get inside to see her, for it has been 3 years. While Boy Willie is only there to grabbed the piano, Lymon has other plans to stay in Pittsburgh. While in the house, Willie continues to yell for Beatrice while the entire family is still sleeping. I was kind of shocked to see how upset Beatrice was and how quickly she wanted them to leave once she saw him. What Beatrice doesn t know is that Wille plans ... All the sudden there are screams and Beatrice is running towards them. She comes downstairs to explain that she has just seen the ghost of sutter and the seem to joke her about her accusations. A few days later, Willie and Lymon are still selling water melon and seem to be having some trouble. The truck used to transport the water melon keeps breaking down which will make it difficult for them to make money. Not only do they have to fix the truck but they also need to find a way of transportation. Boy Willie finally talks about how he has found someone who will purchase the piano, but is having a hard time getting the approval from Beatrice. Doaker then ends up telling them how the piano came to be theirs. During the slave era, this instrument was traded for two slaves. The book ends rather disappointing, Willie is now saying his goodbyes and this is when you realize that his determination to sell that piano didn t pay off. Which brings me to the conclusion that he never made enough money to purchase the land while he continues to keep selling water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. American Laws And The Lgbtq Community American Laws and the LGBTQ+ Community Discrimination [dih skrim uh ney shuh n]: treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Right from the dictionary, the definition is clear. Look back 95 years to 1920, where women across America raised their voices and fought back for the right to vote. Now take a look back 48 years ago when in 1967, interracial marriage was finally legalized. These were all monumental events fighting against discrimination. However, the definition is still blurring in minds of some across America as a multitude of bills are being passed permitting people to act with bigotry towards members of the LGBTQ+ community, the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts just being one of them. In discussions of bills such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, or RFRA s, one controversial issue has been whether or not they permit discrimination. On one hand, those supporting the laws argue that they only reinforce the free practice of religion. On the other hand, those against them contend that with their vagueness it plays out as disguising legal discrimination. My own view is that the RFRA s and other anti LGBTQ+ laws should be repealed or at the very least backed with a state wide non discrimination law for LGBTQ+ individuals. This is in order to prevent a large amount of service being denied to LGBTQ+ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
