Teenage Pregnancy Is A Controversial Concept
Teenage pregnancy is a controversial concept nowadays. When a teen girl becomes pregnant and goes
to the doctor, the doctor must tell her parents, even if she does not want to. This causes big issues
because the girls feel like they have no privacy in their situation. I agree with the doctors informing
the young girls guardians because the girl is under their care, she is a minor, and they must know what
is going on. Some people though, have different opinions. Many people believe that telling the parents
their teen is pregnant is the correct decision. This is because most teenagers don t fully understand
how much responsibility and time goes into providing care for a baby. She is too young to make her
own decisions and needs contraceptive advice from her parents, whom have experienced this in their
lives. There was a study in November of 2004 in which 11 women and 9 men were asked questions
concerning their feeling towards confidentiality (Dr Jane Carlisle Public Health, School of Health and
Related Research, University of Sheffield May 2005). The results of this study were that the young
girls (aged 14 through 17) were more concerned about their privacy, especially the older ones (Dr Jane
Carlisle Public Health, School of Health and Related Research, University of Sheffield May 2005).
Since doctors must inform the teens parents, many teenagers neglect consulting a doctor if they have
any personal or sensitive issues (Dr Jane Carlisle Public Health, School of

The Curious Incident Of Christopher Boone
Christopher Boone articulates The Curious Incident, however, this novel isn t told by an average
fifteen year old boy; Christopher has Asperger s syndrome this isn t stated in the novel, but we can
acquire this knowledge simply by reading Christopher s words. People with Asperger s tend to have
difficulty with social interactions, and Christopher clearly displays this inability when trying to figure
out the emotions on the paper that Siobhan draws for him (1), also when he states, I find people
confusing (17). Another aspect of Asperger s syndrome is a fascination with letters and numbers, this
aspect is clear in the labeling of the chapters with prime numbers, his tactic to calm him self down by
doing math in his head and finally by his adamant need to take A level math and eventually physics.
Nevertheless, this uniqueness about Christopher creates an unexpected narrative twist on this murder
mystery novel. The Curious Incident is written from the perspective of Christopher Boone, and while
Christopher s character conducts a very methodical schedule, and dislikes disorder; the novel itself is
constantly floured with tangents from the main story, that gives you insight into who Christopher is,
for example Chapter 29, when he describes why he dislikes people, this is not necessary to the
storyline about Wellington s murder, but more of a descriptor of Christopher.
Another interesting narrative is the fact that it is a narrative about a dog; this also gives you insight

Outline Of A Trip Project
Andrew Jenkins Take A Trip Project Fall 2014 Part A: Introductory page For the Take A Trip Project, I
plan to explore the continent Europe. The three countries I chose to tour are France, Italy, and Greece.
My plan is to first arrive in France because that is geographically the first country out of the three.
Following France I plan to depart to Italy and end my journey in Greece. I chose these countries for
many reasons but, the three significant reasons are for their intriguing culture, rich history, and
fascinating art. My initial country to visit is Frace. During my research, I came upon many interesting
sights and scenes. First things first I will want to see the magnificent Eiffel Tower. While in France, I
will stop at the Musee Du Louvre which contains the original painting of Mona Lisa. I will be sure to
try one of the French delicacies Foie Gras which is a ducks liver covered with many spices. I know
that there will be many other activities and sights to see in France that I have yet to research. I will be
sure to experience all of the great activities when i m in France. After France I will depart to Italy.
Italy as well has many interesting views, such like the city of Rome. The first place I would like to
stop at is Pompeii the the historical city of the Roman Empire. Following Pompeii I will set The
Leaning Tower of Pisa as my destination. Italy is known for their great architecture. It was influenced
by the Romans. This is just one of many of

Multiple Sclerosis Essay examples
Most illnesses are unexpected and can lead to life changes. A chronic illness can lead to a life altering
illness. While some chronic illnesses can be cured in a few weeks or months many last a lifetime.
Chronic illnesses typically have a significant impact on clients, like treatments, coping, and dealing
with possible side effects. When the chronic illness progresses to death then the illness would be life
altering. According to webmd.com Multiple Sclerosis or MS is a disease that affects the brain and
spinal cord resulting in loss of muscle control, vision, balance, and sensation. I chose Multiple
Sclerosis because it can affect daily activities and can have a negative impact on the person s well
being (Tamper Lindh 197 199) Learning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What causes MS is unknown; Scientists believe there are several factors that cause MS including
immunologic, environmental, infectious, and genetic. MS is 2 to 3 times more common in women
than men. MS is not inherited but genetics plays an important role in who gets the disease. While most
people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, young children and teenagers may develop this
life altering illness. MS is more common in northern latitudes that are further from the equator and
less common in areas closer to the equator however, known in all parts of the world. MS occurs in
most ethnic groups, including African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics/Latinos, but are more
common in Caucasians of the northern European ancestry ( What is Multiple Sclerosis ). According to
Margret Vickers the Sociologists have been concerned about the inequality of patients that have a
chronic to life altering disease especially at work. A person with a disability is categorized as being
other, different, and outside the norm, faces obstacles of trying to fit in to the working environment.
Furthermore, employees who don t possess the physical, emotional or cognitive attributes that others
present maybe stigmatized or discredited. The workplace remains difficult for people with a life
altering illness to negotiate and be secure furthermore employment has actually decreased worldwide.

Analysis Of Margaret Atwood s It s Not Climate Change...
In the article It s Not Climate Change It s Everything Change, the author Margaret Atwood, starts of
by talking about three different pictures. The first one being The future without oil, the second, The
future without oil arrives very quickly, and the third, Some countries plan for the future of diminished
oil, some don t have any, or don t need any. The first picture says to imagine driving around in our in
vehicles fueled by hydrogen. Our goods will be coming to us by solar and sail driven ship, and trains
and bicycles will become popular again. People start eating locally and start growing vegetables in
their yards. Water is having to be saved and low draw lightbulbs are being used because incandescent
have been banned. Also the slogan Heat yourself, not the room is no longer a slogan, it s the way we
all live now. The air conditioning systems no longer exist so during summer, there will not be huge
amounts of power being used. Still imagining, the author discusses what will be wearing and what we
will eat. Cotton will be consider too expensive, so recycled tinfoil and plastic will be used for
clothing. The idea of obesity will no longer be a problem, and diet plans will be mandatory. This
picture one is liked by the author because it s comforting and says it might come true. The second
picture the author discuses is suppose the future without oil arrives very quickly. Very sudden, there
would be no cars, no planes, a few trains, and some bicycles. Water

An Artificial Object Into Space During World War II
From a historical standpoint, the space travel that Americans know today arrived when German
scientists took the first effort toward sending an artificial object into space during World War II. In
1942, Germany accomplished its launching of the V 2 rocket, the first manmade rocket sent into space
(Schombert). Of course, the Soviet Union followed suit, historians writing down the name Sputnik in
history texts to describe the country s first successful, unmanned orbital launch, completed on October
4, 1957 (Schombert). Before the world could recover from the technological whiplash, the race to the
heavens had already become a trend among several world powers, and at once, shooting objects into
the void became a display of national power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These dangerous endeavors lurk in a new unknown, and the journey to it is rife with explosive
mishaps literally.
Statistically, space travel is too worrisome and dangerous for private industries to maintain. Rather, of
the 536 people who have travelled into space, 3.4 percent, or 18 astronauts, have died during missions
(Silver 1). While this number may appear statistically insignificant, these sets of fatalities do not
consider the overall risk potential, and the many other lives taken from astronaut training and non
astronaut deaths that resulted from spaceflight related activities. In 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger
exploded 73 seconds into its flight, killing its entire crew. Many years later, the shuttle Columbia
experienced a disastrous event on February 1, 2003, when the shuttle disintegrated over Texas and
Louisiana upon reentrance of the mesosphere, killing another team. Now, Emery reports in his article
that privately contributed space exploration continues this deadly trend, stating, The crash of the
SpaceShipTwo was the second catastrophe in a gloomy week for the commercial space industry. On
Tuesday, an unmanned Antares rocket exploded over Wallops Island, in Virginia. As illustrated, the
frequent rate of failure with unmanned missions government or privately ran begs that, if any, the
government should regulate these projects in a modern world with better

The Importance Of Alternate Standards
When you hold out for high standards, people are impressed but they don t always like you for it. Not
everybody will be on your side in your struggle to do what s right and ethical. In fact, sometimes even
you won t be on your side. You ll wrestle with inner conflict, torn between what you should do and
what you want to do. You ll also aggravate other people. Seems when you walk the straight and
narrow you always step on someone s toes. Don t count on the ethics of excellence to make you
popular.

A Hero s Journey
Shortly after the discovery that my beloved wife had gone missing, I began to retrace my steps in
search of her. I believe I must have lost her in the process of cycling up the hill; however, I cannot
seem to make out which path I had come from. The night was closing in and I have yet to figure out
which path I had come from. I stood at the fork staring blankly at the rusty colored dirt. My first
thought was maybe she was sitting under a tree a few feet away from the road. I looked about for her
golden hair to peak through the limbs, but I could see no sign of her. I called her name, and again, no
sign. I thought to myself, perhaps she had gone to look for help at one of the nearby farms, but that
seemed fairly unlikely. My wife was not of Dutch origin, and her tongue for the language was fairly
unintelligible. I called her name several times before I heard the loud clonking of an animals hoof, a
horse, perhaps. I squinted at the path ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I made it to the new path just in time to see the visitor breaching the top of the hill. Relief fell over me
and I jogged swiftly towards the farmer. Hello, sir! Boy, I am glad to see you. I have lost my way
among these paths, and I am in search for my wife! It s quite funny, actually, I was cycling over a
great hill and suddenly my legs had become stronger! Oh, but of course it was just my wife, who had
seemingly jumped off of the cycle. Aha! I m searching for her now, have you seen her? She likes to
talk a lot, if you must know. He stared at me with a look of amusement, and then spoke with a
chuckle, I haven t seen your wife, sir, but I do know there is a town just down this path. Perhaps she is
there. I wish you luck on your journey, good fellow. He slipped past me and continued down the path
whistling to himself. I chuckled at how peculiar the man seemed, then mounted my bicycle and
gracefully continued down the path into

How To Join The Disability Rights Movement
Join The Disability Rights Movement Unbelievably, there are some disabled people who actually do
not have basic human rights. There is a movement out there that is attempting to change that. That
movement is the disability rights movement. The disability rights movement hopes to acquire equal
rights and equal opportunities for people not given those basic human rights. In specific they want
accessibility and safety, equal opportunity in independent living, employment, education, housing, and
freedom from neglect and abuse. Everyone should show some more respect to disabled people by
joining the disability rights movement. The disabled people are exactly like everyone else. About 50
million people that have a disability lead their own independent lives. They define themselves by their
traits, not their disability and ever since the mid 1900s, they have been trying to get people to
recognise that their disability only affects how they look at things, and is not a definition ( A Brief ).
Most people look at other people with disabilities on a medical scale. The medical model attempts to
normalize a person s conditions and also tends to see people as flawed and incapable (Milne). In
reality, disabled people are just like the rest of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This is who I am, what I am, and where I m heading. I ve known since I was the tiniest of boys that I
was different from the others, much, much different. It wasn t my physical appearance, my origin, nor
my speech that made me unique. It was something internal. Walking down the wet, red bricked streets
of Burlington, Vermont and exclaiming Hello to everyone I met was a natural, soft, fluttery feeling of
giddiness. Some would wave, some would reply, and some stopped for a conversation, like the sweet,
understanding people they are. This is my home. The life and consciousness that makes me, me, I
treasure and feel blessed every day for it. Ms. Mooney from down the yellow, strong willed
apartments loves to ask me about recent things. How has your boyfriend been , or come over to my
cafe for your next date, it s on the house , she would say. The sweet, sorrow in her melancholy voice
would remind me of her red haired, spirited girlfriend that passed away, but all she would do is smile
brightly and make others smile around her. She wouldn t be the only one either to comment about my

Analysis Of Thee I Sing
Of Thee I Sing Analysis As actors, we are forced to absorb everything around us and express our
views on the world. Of Thee I Sing succeeds as a play that reflects the world around them while
poking fun at it. The play itself was fun, colorful, and interesting. From its high energized actors to its
well choreographed dancing and singing. Of Thee I Sing is a musical that is full of terrific acting,
dancing, staging, and stage directing. Anyone who did not see this production made a mistake not to
see it.
Of Thee I Sing is about John P. Wintergreen, who runs for President of the United States on the love
platform. When he falls in love with the sensible Mary Turner instead of Diana Devereaux, the
beautiful pageant winner selected for him, he gets into political hot water. The main characters of the
play are John P. Wintergreen ( Joseph Edward Herr) a presidential candidate who, is running his
campaign on love. Mary Turner ( Jennifer Totcky) Wintergreens love interest later wife. Diana
Devereaux (Katie Whittermore) contest winner Wintergreens administration chose to be his wife
before he fell in love with Turner. The play ends with the servants wheeling a large bed into the room,
where Mary sits with the babies. Wintergreen leads everyone in proclaiming, Of Thee I Sing. The
acting in Of Thee I Sing was nothing but spectacular. The acting from all of the actors was believable.
The way how they projected their voices was well done and the how they delivered their lines was
well executed. An actor who did these and more was Kyle Laing and Lexi Nieto. Kyle practically stole
every scene he was in. He fully embodied his character. From his fast dialogue to his witty dialect. His
pacing was great, he did not rush through his lines nor did he slow down. It was well paced. My
favorite part of his performance were his facial expressions, he was very charismatic with the time he
had on stage to express himself. Lexi Nieto s performance was nothing spectacular. Despite being a
member of the ensemble, Nieto captivated my attention every time she was on stage. She made bold
acting choices through her hilarious facial expressions, but still managed to not distract from the story.
There was clarity for all

Class Conflict In Grapes Of Wrath

In the Midst of Hopelessness
John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, takes place during the Great Depression, a time when
troubled and distressed American men and women lived; a time of poverty and an economic crisis.
When change is thought upon, it is to be thought of new life and new experiences. The Great
Depression is the kind of change that replaces a part of American living with Somepin s happening. I
went up an I looked, an the houses is all empty, an the lan is empty, an this whole country is empty (
Steinbeck 94). In his work, Steinbeck presents the hardships that Americans had to go through by
being mindful of particular aspects which makes the reader understand the characters distress. For
example, the landscape of the farm lands. Even though the land has its brutality, it grows to be the
scenery for humans to be able to recognize and consider their troubles about work and life in general.
With these concerns, there are differences between the people who are accustomed to the landscape
and admire it, and those who do not agree with it. In the novel, Steinbeck uses attributes of class
conflict and injustice as a way of presenting and socially commenting that the Great Depression
brought attention to more problems beyond the idea of poverty.
The class conflict between the poverty stricken migrants and the settled, assured business occupied
Californians make for a powerful analysis

Bakken Pipeline Spill
Spill, baby, spill: As Sierra Club s Michael Brune puts it, It s not a question if a pipeline will
malfunction, but rather a question of when. And, though they spill less often than trains do, the
International Energy Agency found that pipelines spill much more in terms of volume three times as
much between 2004 and 2012. The Bakken Pipeline s route takes it through active farmland, forests,
and across the heartland s major rivers: The Big Sioux, the Missouri, and the Mississippi, some with
multiple crossings, though the US Fish and Wildlife Service claims that no critical habitat is
endangered. It also runs through sacred Native American lands (more on this below).
Enbridge Inc., a stakeholder in the Bakken pipeline, has a speckled track record on spills. In 2010, an
Enbridge pipeline spilled 1.2 million gallons of crude into the Kalamazoo River, one of the worst
inland spills in American history. Because the pipeline qualifies as a utility (despite being privately
owned and for profit), the Army Corps of Engineers was able to certify it without performing an
environmental impact statement, as all utilities projects qualify as minimal impact. These projects are
subject to environmental assessments every five years.

Thomas Kuhn s Theory Of Scientific Discovery
The reason someone writes is in order to try and get a message or an idea across. For some topics its
easier than others, but when you re trying and prove the whole idea of discovery wrong it may be
more difficult. Thomas Kuhn writes Historical Structure of Scientific Discovery in an attempt to try
and convey his message that the timeline role of discovery is wrong. He denies the idea about how
some discoveries are misleading and make it seem they were found in a single moment. When you
write you must assume that anyone can read it, so you have to keep your audience in mind. Different
articles of science will bring in all kinds of readers. Not only was he writing to historians and
scientists, but to the general public, so he needed to structure his writing to appeal his audience. Kuhn
starts his project by letting readers know his purpose, he denies the idea of how an individual made a
discovery at any moment. He opens up the reading to show what he finds wrong, so the reader can
begin to paint a picture in their head. He gives his opinion on discovery and writes what he believes to
be true. He makes an attempt to put the reader in his place and see things from his input. When a
writer is able to put a reader in their shoes it becomes easier to perused them. What s different about
Kuhn s writing is the way he structures it. He breaks up topics into different subcategories each having
a subtitle. He lists off examples of discoveries that help to prove his point such as:

The Political And Legal Aspects Of International Marketing
The Political and Legal Aspects in Relation to Domestic and International Environment of Halal
Products Submitted by: Jessa Loreta Billano, 1338020 Submitted to: Dr. Syed M. Ahmed 10 August
2016 Executive Summary The advent of globalisation in the last two decades had an immense impact
to the political and legal environments which are essential aspects in international marketing. As there
is no existing single political and legal environment because of its complexity on a variety of levels,
the political and legal environment will be referred to as one concept in this paper. The political and
legal aspects will be discussed in relation to the domestic and international environment. In order to
have a grasp of the factors at play, this paper will use the Islamic law s enforcement of halal
regulations as an example. This paper will highlight the issues in the domestic environment such as
social and environmental concerns, intellectual property rights, and export and import controls. It will
also show how the absence of a unified halal standard in the international level magnifies the
importance to be aware of domestic certification bodies and unstable domestic laws and regulations.
Review International Marketing and the Role of Globalisation Czinkota et al. (2014) concisely define
international marketing as the process of planning and conducting transactions across national borders

Poem-It s Better This Way
It s Better This Way My son, Calum, falls asleep to screams. It s from the girls. They are oysters
spliced open by crescent light. Pearls laden in milky froth. Rag dolls retired to the dumpster after their

on the streets by boys batons. Half the dogs run on three legs and the other half have stopped fighting.
It s from the unborn and the dead. The candle wicks. The country flags whipping in the wind. These
are his lullabies. At bath times, Calum tries to meld himself with the porcelain tub. He lies boulder
heavy, pretending he s a block of cement and anesthesia. His ears are submarines, listening to a
mermaid s murmur.

Team Process Of A Team
Team Process: When becoming a part of a team, at the beginning of this semester, I never imagined
how much teamwork and communication was needed to get even an entry level project done in a
team. One of the best traits of my team was our excellent use of coordination. Coordination helped us
stay organized, as well as made each team member more effective. We never missed a team meeting,
and always completed our assigned work on time. The Gantt chart we created towards the beginning
of our project, helped each member stay organized, so no one member took on a larger share of work
than assigned to. As well as staying organized, we worked well as a team, and I believe we all
respected each others abilities to complete our own tasks. The reason we were able to function so well,
was because only the facilitator had the desire to lead. There were no power struggle and
confrontations. There were never conflicting ideas in the team, we all accepted what we had to do and
let one person take charge. However, that doesn t mean, we didn t put in a lot work. We worked hard
to complete our project; it only shows that we were able to work well, when given the task of turning
design ideas into reality. As an engineer, you will not have total freedom of concept, design and build.

neglected in the film. On the other hand, the book portrays the feelings and character relationships.
Scenes that had specific meaning were shattered, several portions of the film were exaggerated, and
the central message of the entire movie was mislaid. These fundamentals simply obscured the main
message and made the movie disorientated. Hair slicked back, leather jackets, and cigars hanging from
their lips. Greasers were extravagant boys who were known as troublemakers in gangs. The main
character Ponyboy is a greaser. Ponyboy s gang are always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ignorance within the movie impediments the message for the audience. Everyone in a movie
theater is excited and expecting the big commission. Then the rumble begins. The reader starts to
realize that nothing that is occurring in the film was in the book. This is a huge disappointment on
behalf of the reader opinion. During the rumble the movie director added rain and a fire pit to create
suspense. This made it distracting and burdensome to find the purpose of the rumble. The message
behind the rumble was of the two different groups fighting for their rights. It was a cascade of
emotions and urge to destroy the wall separating equality. Apart from the over exaggeration, the
director made Ponyboy seem like a weakling. When the main protagonist looks vulnerable that just
makes the movie seem preposterous. No main character should be made useless and vulnerable.
Especially if in the book the character was stunning during the battle. The lack of detail and attention
to the scene defeats the purpose of the book. If the film can not display the book properly then it
indeed is a misinterpretation.
Nonetheless, the director did not comprehend that an inaccuracy in the film can throw off the
audience. In the film several of the major characters were placed as minors. This mislead a the novel
reader since they know the director should had placed more attention to those characters. Sodapop and
Darry were

Washington Grass Inn Dance Analysis
AOII Formal 2018 at Washington Grass Inn
1. What style of dance did you see or do? What specific movements did you see or do that would
indicate that it was this specific style or genre?
At this formal event, I experienced both individual and partner dancing. I would describe this style to
be a mix of hip hop and swing dancing. The dance movements involved fluid arm waving and
rhythmic leg stepping. There was no set choreography so our movements were limitless. These
movements reminded me of hip hop, because there were moments of jacking and lots of hip
movements. Additionally, there were movements that reminded me of swing dancing because of the
partner spinning, dipping, and swaying.
2. Why did you choose this particular event?

Maya Lin Vietnam War Memorial Analysis
Maya Lin Vietnam War Memorial: her design was moderate and nontraditional. The remembrance, in
the event that you are new to it, is a cleaned black, V formed stone section apparently ascending

the grass and conveys a parity to both nature and building design. Upon it bears the names of more
than 58,000 Americans who were killed or are missing. At the point when asked what moved the
authorities to pick Lin s configuration, one authority expressed, It is remarkably even, entering the

The Public Health Report England 2014 Understanding...
This assignment will be analytically evaluating the Public Health report England 2014 Understanding
inequalities in London s life expectancy and healthy life expectancy . This will include examining
factors which influences health inequalities, comparing theoretical explanations and the policies put in
place that potentially reduce the levels of health inequalities in London.
AC.1
Health inequalities are preventable differences in health status experienced by certain population
groups. It is suggested people of a lower socio economic group are more likely to experience chronic
ill health and earlier death expectancy than those who are more privileged. The causes of health
inequalities have been considerably argued between theories and ... Show more content on

Secondly the figures contained in this report have been obtained and analysed from the year 2009 to
2011. It has also been updated and revised several times including a revision of life (healthy)
expectancy in November 2013. Regular updating and adjustments of data increases the accuracy and
relevance of the outcomes, furthermore findings gain more validity and recognition.
Another advantage of this report is its use of quantitative research. The selection of charts, tables and
graphs are highly creditable in terms of measuring validity and reliability. It provides data with precise
and non bias numerical findings.
Additionally this report has been published by Public Health England and is part of the Government s
department of health. It is a government obligation to provide public access to this report and others
completed by the public health department. This wide accessibility suggests that the data obtained has
been greatly measured to support its claims.
On the other hand some disadvantages of reliability can be identified. The data provided on the life
expectancy and healthy life expectancy from birth presents difficulties in the consistency and
replication of the findings. The figures are an estimated average of new born mortality rate (2010 12)
and cannot provide exact figures of expected life span. The reason for this is because health
prevalence and mortality rate between areas are changeable. In

The Deserted House Was Warm During The Summer Night
The deserted house was warm during the summer night. Marco was exploring the house and was in
awe of how brilliant the house looked. The house was 200 years old and has been deserted since the
owners died 4 years ago, the house still had all of its decorations and furniture because the owner didn
t have any kids,or a will so everything was left in the house all this time. This is so awesome, Marco
said to himself, admiring the enormous dining room. He kept exploring the ginormous house. All of a
sudden Marco jumped when he heard the chiming of the old grandfather clock. It was 2 in the
morning now but, he didn t have to worry about school in the morning. Besides this fact, he was still
pretty tired. Then, Out of nowhere, SMASH! He hears a loud noise downstairs. It startled him enough
to make him aware of everything. Marco decided to investigate what made the noise, and as Marco
left the room, he grabbed a rusty driver from the golf clubs in the room he was in. He slowly made his
way down the stairs with the golf club held like a baseball bat, ready to swing at who or whatever
made that noise. He gets downstairs and to his surprised to see a rock had been thrown through the
window. the floor was covered in shards of glass and the moonlight was glimmering off of it
illuminating the room Why would someone throw a rock through the window? Who would be awake
at this time of the night to do this? Marco said to himself confused. He took a look out the broken

Emily Dickson
Almost unknown as a poet in her lifetime, Emily Dickinson is now considered as one of the most
mysterious and original American poet of 19th century for her innovation in rhythmic meters and
creative use of metaphors. Her poems were rarely published in Russia because most of them had
religious content (to express religious feelings was restricted in Russia for almost a century).
However, some poems that I read impressed me at the first glance. Dickinson s poems spoke
powerfully to me about meaningful events in living. Many impressions that she compressed into only
few words helped me to understand my own experience through her emotional clarity. It was not easy
to understand Dickinson s poems. I had to read between lines to get what she ... Show more content on

She was less interested in answering questions about social events than she was in exploring how she
felt at a giving moment.
Emily Dickinson was almost unknown during her lifetime because she refused publish her poems and
only seven of them were published anonymously during her lifetime. After Dickinson s death her
sister Livinia found nearly two thousand of drafts wrote in pencil on scraps of paper, grocery lists, and
the backs of recipes and used envelopes (Melani). Only few of them were titled and many were
unfinished. Emily did not prepare her poems for publishing, but wrote for her own purposes. She was
sensitive for any kind of attention and by copying poems into personal correspondence she controlled
who would read her poems.
Emily Dickinson died on 15 May 1886, at the age of fifty six. She was buried in one of the white
dresses she wore in her later years and now rests in the West Cemetery of Amherst, Hampshire
County, Massachusetts (Donoghue 38). The Homestead at Amherst, the place where Emily was born
and spent much of her childhood and almost all her adult life, became Emily Dickinson s Museum and
now open for the general public.

Examples Of The Outsiders In The Outsiders
The Outsiders Essay It s hard to be a hero when you do some bad things to get there. In the novel The
Outsiders by S.E. Hinton there are two completely different sides of town. The Socs are the rich kids
who drive expensive cars and wear expensive clothes and the Greasers are considered the bums. They
don t have money and they don t get whatever they want, they also have to work extra hard to get to
where they want to be. If you are considered a greaser you are a muffin and the Socs are the cupcakes.
Everybody would prefer a cupcake over a muffin, but in this story two boys were just trying to protect
themselves and they get into some trouble while doing it so, they hit the road. I am going to tell you
about whether or not Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes. In my opinion Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes
and that is because they both ran into a burning building to save little kids from catching on fire and
dying. People don t just sprint into burning buildings for enjoyment everyday unless it s your job and
even then they don t do it for fun. They do it because they wanted to help save lives. Ponyboy going
first showed that he didn t want to wait for the fireman to come because it was now or never. I ll get
them, don t worry! I started at a dead run for the church, and the man caught my arm. I ll get them.
You kids stay out! I jerked loose and ran on. All I could think was: We started it. We started it. We
started it! ( Hinton pg. 91). Ponyboy felt bad because he knew that the cigarette him and Johnny had
smoked started it. He risked his life to save those children, Johnny too. Johnny went in after Ponyboy.
I looked around, startled. I hadn t realized Johnny had been right behind me all the way. (Hinton pg.
91/92). When Ponyboy was getting his head shoved in a fountain and held there by a Soc, Johnny had
jumped in to save him. Johnny may have killed the Soc, but he did it to protect himself and Ponyboy,
but Johnny is a greaser so he looks guilty to the police either way. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed
that boy. (Hinton pg. 56). I don t know if you would call this heroic, but I think it is. The greasers
stand up for each other so, if you roll with them you better be willing to die

Pygmalion And My Fair Lady
Amanda Franks
Professor Egenolf
Response Paper 2
11/11/2015
Pygmalion and My Fair Lady: A Comparison George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion (1916) and the 1964
American film My Fair Lady, based on Shaw s play, are largely similar in plot and character choice;
My Fair Lady being an adaptation of Pygmalion. Shaw s Pygmalion is based on the Greek myth of
Pygmalion and his statue Galatea. The film interpretation is similar to the play in many aspects,
though it is different in that, because it is a film, the creators had more liberty with scenes and props
used. My Fair Lady is a successful movie adaptation of Shaw s Pygmalion in that it conveys most of
the message Shaw wrote, introduced very similar characters and storyline; however, the film adds in
musical elements, more extravagant examples of scenes, and slightly different themes and emotional
responses than the play itself has to offer audiences. My Fair Lady is basically a straight adaptation of
Pygmalion much of the script is the same dialogue as the play exactly, or with a few words changed,
and takes direct quotes from Shaw s writing. The characters have the same names that Shaw gave
them, and their personalities are quite the same in both the play and the film. Directors did not leave
any character mentioned in the play out of the movie, even if they were only spotted for a very
fleeting moment, like the women of the Eynsford Hill family at the horse race. The similarities of

Theme Of Nobody Is Good At All
The theme for this text is that nobody is good at everything, but everybody is good at something. At
the beginning of the story, the narrator compares himself to his brother and father s athletic
accomplishments and feels like less than them or like a failure. The story reads, he tried to pass on his
athletic skills to my older brother Eddy and me. During the times I felt well, I tried to keep up with
them, but my lungs always failed me. (Yep 5). This shows that the narrator never felt like he was good
enough for his father compared to Eddy. As the story progresses, the narrator is learning from his
father to shoot a rifle. His father s tone makes him think that he is still disappointed that Eddy is not
helping him instead. The narrative

The Culture Of Country Music In The 1920 s
Country Music
There was nothing but the darkness of the night. There were no noise to be heard. Suddenly a loud
strumming of music came from one direction. Gathering around, people were amazed by what
beautiful music they were hearing. This was the start of something new and original; it was called
country music. Country music started in the early 1920s. This genre of music originated from the
southern states of the United States ( Lewis). This meant a beginning of something new and exciting,
like how the banjo s and harmonicas would soon gain influence. As a result this new genre of music
became very popular and Nashville became the center of country music recordings. This meant that by
1922, country music would become one of the most well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the 1920s, country music started to take it s hold. The roots of the country genre
came from the older American folk music and the Western music. This type of music usually came
from the more unfortunate people of the Eastern states. Country music in the 1920s usually consisted
of ballads and dance tunes with generally simple forms and harmonies. Multifold of the instruments
that were used to make this tune and harmonies were banjos, acoustic guitar, fiddles, and harmonicas.
In the 1920s, there weren t many people who knew about the country genre, and the idea of country
music didn t have a uprise until the Father of Country Music Jimmie Rodgers, and The Carter Family
came along, they were the reason for the increase in this genre, frequent people said when Rodgers
and The Carter family came along, this was the moment country music was born. The turnout of this
new genre took a huge impact whenever it went across many of the states.m More and more people
became into the idea of country music ( Lewis.) Many people took this genre and made their own
music, and thats when country music actually became popular and the recordings started. This uprise
lead to many successful singers and instrument players, Nashville soon became the main place of
recording. After the inflation of country music, it started to have several subgenres that were being
formed at the time like; country blues and country rock. ( Santoro.) Music of this genre made a real
impact on many singers that rose to fame like Mr. Rodgers and The Carter

Evaluating Nike s Just Do It Campaign
Advertisements are all around us, whether we are conscious of it or not, they have blurred the line
between reality and fantasy. The commercial industry pries on our brains, using the unconscious to
develop impeccable marketing ideas. In general, ads have both negative and positive impact on
humans. With the correct graphics, language, sounds, and target audience, almost anything can be
made persuasive enough for our minds to crave it.
While advertisements can be informative and entertaining, they creep into our unconscious and
stimulate parts of our cortex compelling us towards the products at hand. For example, creating a
brand or slogan, for it to become unique and widely accepted, it must make and invoke a connection
with its audience. Let s evaluate Nike`s Just Do It , known to almost every human on the planet

I Walked Out One Evening By Robert Burns
Robert Burns Oh, my love is like a red, red rose and in W. H. Auden As I Walked Out One Evening
both write about how one loves a significant other for an eternity. Both poets use time measuring
devices to show how time could hinder the couple s feelings. Burns and Auden use the themes of love
and time to show that people will fall in love and that time will never stop. They both show how time
can affect the way that the lovers in the poems feel about one another.
In Burns poem, the speaker is newly in love, we know this because in line That s newly sprung in June
he means that his love is just blossoming. Time is an important key in this poem, the speaker says that
he will love his partner until the seas gang dry, my dear, and the rocks melt wi the sun he is saying that
he will love them until the end of time itself. Both poems use clocks as a symbol to help achieve the
meaning behind their poem. The clock in Burns poem is really an hourglass that he says And I will
love thee still, my dear, While the sands o life shall run. Burns is saying that even until after the last
grain of sand has run through the hourglass of life he will continue to love his lover. Burns poem uses
time as a continuation, as something that just flows through, something that cannot be changed and
something that is just a fact of life. Even when the lovers are apart they vow to love each other despite
time passing by without them seeing one another. Auden s poem has three different

Disadvantages Of Driverless Cars
I m on my way! you tell your friend over the phone as you step into your car. I ll be there in half an
hour! You sit down and buckle up, absentmindedly opening the alarm app on your phone. You set it to
wake you up in thirty minutes, then relax into your seat, turn on the radio, and close your eyes. How is
this possible? Technology has advanced incredibly quickly over the last hundred years, with
developments such as the Internet and the smart phone. Along with this technology has come a lot of
developments in the robotics industry. Robotic surgeons, controlled by professionals, have hands
much steadier and more precise than a human could ever hope to mimick, increasing safety and
decreasing recovery time for surgery patients. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sensors like these protect against most accidents already, and make up for any amount of human error
that might put a driver in some amount of peril. The ultrasonic sensors tell the car whether or not there
are bumps on the road, or if it s approaching a curb, something a human is not always capable of
doing, and the lidar on top identifies lane markers and the edges of the road by bouncing light off of
them. Sensors on self driving cars take out all the guess work usually involved in driving a car out of
the equation. While all of these sensors work together to steer the car away from danger, occasionally,
says Olivia Solon, data amassed by all the sensors can conflict with each other, resulting in a
dangerous situation referred to as sensor fusion. This fusion of sensors has already resulted in a fatal
crash involving a tester of a self driving Tesla car; the sensors produced conflicting data, and as a
result mistook a truck for an overhead road sign, causing the car to run directly into the truck.
Therefore, while these numerous sensors are instrumental to the driverless car, they are still in
development and not yet safe to trust with human lives. GPS tracking and positioning is also
incorporated into every automated car, for the self evident purpose of informing driver and car where
they are and where they re going. Some cars

The Empire Of The Seljuk Ottoman Empire
One of the small Turkish nomadic tribes in Anatolia during the 13th century was a dynasty named
after the ruler Osman, the Ottomans. This small state emerged in Anatolia during the breakdown of the
empire of the Seljuk Turks. The Ottomans quickly became an undeniable force and ended all other
Turkish dynasties. The Ottoman Empire became one of the largest and longest lasting empires in the
world, ruling the majority of the Middle East, northern Africa and southeastern Europe for over 600
years until its eventual fall in 1922.
The Ottomans were one of the numbers of Turkish tribes that migrated from Central Asia. Initially
they followed a primitive shamanistic religion. Their contacts with various tribes led to the
introduction of Islam and they acquired their greatest combat tradition, that of the ghazi warrior. The
first period of the Ottoman history was characterized by almost continuous territorial expansion. The
Ottoman dominion spread out from a small Anatolian principality to cover a major amount of land in
Middle East and southeastern Europe.
Following the final defeat of the Seljuk Empire in 1293, Osman, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty,
led his principality to take over Byzantine Bithynia in northwestern Anatolia, commanded the ghazis
against the Byzantines. Osman and his successors concentrated their attacks on Byzantine territories
bordering the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara to the west. The Ottomans took advantage of the
decay of the Byzantine frontier

Third Round Of Speeches In The Book Of Job
In the book of Job, three different rounds of speeches are seen throughout. These speeches occur when
Job and his friends are discussing the life of Job and the actions of God. The third round includes
speeches from Eliphaz, Job, Bildad, and Zophar (Lucas, 2008, pg. 125). It is often questioned whether
or not the third round of speeches in the Bible are in the original order. This is question because the
flow in which the dissussion occurs causes some confusion. The textbook states that Bildad s speech is
short and Job s reply contains some sections that might sound better on the lips of his friends (Lucas,
2008, pg. 124). The four main proposed reconstructions of the third round of speeches include:
Dhorme, Stevenson, Gordis, and Habel (Lucas,

Still Alice Analysis
I decided to do my review on the movie Still Alice. The movie started off with Alice giving a speech
in an auditorium to hundreds of people when all of a sudden she forgot part of her speech. At first, she
is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s at the age of 50. But later on, things start to get worse, she
began to forget things more and more; she was officially diagnosed from a doctor with dementia later
on. The movie itself was very saddening and showed how Alzheimer s can affect one s family, friends,
and everyday life traumatically. From the aspect of the caregiver, the symptoms of dementia are
disheartening.
Dementia itself is a progressive decline in memory, learning, and thinking abilities. In terms of
education, people with Alzheimer s have the intelligence of people who are about 10 years old in
grade school. For the sociological aspect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people view Alzheimer s patients in a negative way and don t treat of them as a normal thinking
person. Many people believe people with this disease are confused. Some research indicated that traits
like fun and happy were at the bottom of how someone would describe a person with dementia. In the
movie, not everyone viewed people with dementia with respect, mostly loved ones gave the most
respect to Alice throughout the movie. I think that the title of the movie Still Alice brings up a good
point. When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer s, how much of their identity do they still have
left? It is disheartening to think about because this genetic disease affects so many families around the
world. In spirit, Alice is still there throughout the movie. But her memory and social skills have slowly
dismantled who she truly is as a person. Dementia takes over someone s life so rapidly it is
frightening. I have learned from this movie to never take any moment for granted and to enjoy your
time with loved

  • 2. Teenage Pregnancy Is A Controversial Concept Teenage pregnancy is a controversial concept nowadays. When a teen girl becomes pregnant and goes to the doctor, the doctor must tell her parents, even if she does not want to. This causes big issues because the girls feel like they have no privacy in their situation. I agree with the doctors informing the young girls guardians because the girl is under their care, she is a minor, and they must know what is going on. Some people though, have different opinions. Many people believe that telling the parents their teen is pregnant is the correct decision. This is because most teenagers don t fully understand how much responsibility and time goes into providing care for a baby. She is too young to make her own decisions and needs contraceptive advice from her parents, whom have experienced this in their lives. There was a study in November of 2004 in which 11 women and 9 men were asked questions concerning their feeling towards confidentiality (Dr Jane Carlisle Public Health, School of Health and Related Research, University of Sheffield May 2005). The results of this study were that the young girls (aged 14 through 17) were more concerned about their privacy, especially the older ones (Dr Jane Carlisle Public Health, School of Health and Related Research, University of Sheffield May 2005). Since doctors must inform the teens parents, many teenagers neglect consulting a doctor if they have any personal or sensitive issues (Dr Jane Carlisle Public Health, School of ... • 3. The Curious Incident Of Christopher Boone Christopher Boone articulates The Curious Incident, however, this novel isn t told by an average fifteen year old boy; Christopher has Asperger s syndrome this isn t stated in the novel, but we can acquire this knowledge simply by reading Christopher s words. People with Asperger s tend to have difficulty with social interactions, and Christopher clearly displays this inability when trying to figure out the emotions on the paper that Siobhan draws for him (1), also when he states, I find people confusing (17). Another aspect of Asperger s syndrome is a fascination with letters and numbers, this aspect is clear in the labeling of the chapters with prime numbers, his tactic to calm him self down by doing math in his head and finally by his adamant need to take A level math and eventually physics. Nevertheless, this uniqueness about Christopher creates an unexpected narrative twist on this murder mystery novel. The Curious Incident is written from the perspective of Christopher Boone, and while Christopher s character conducts a very methodical schedule, and dislikes disorder; the novel itself is constantly floured with tangents from the main story, that gives you insight into who Christopher is, for example Chapter 29, when he describes why he dislikes people, this is not necessary to the storyline about Wellington s murder, but more of a descriptor of Christopher. Another interesting narrative is the fact that it is a narrative about a dog; this also gives you insight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Outline Of A Trip Project Andrew Jenkins Take A Trip Project Fall 2014 Part A: Introductory page For the Take A Trip Project, I plan to explore the continent Europe. The three countries I chose to tour are France, Italy, and Greece. My plan is to first arrive in France because that is geographically the first country out of the three. Following France I plan to depart to Italy and end my journey in Greece. I chose these countries for many reasons but, the three significant reasons are for their intriguing culture, rich history, and fascinating art. My initial country to visit is Frace. During my research, I came upon many interesting sights and scenes. First things first I will want to see the magnificent Eiffel Tower. While in France, I will stop at the Musee Du Louvre which contains the original painting of Mona Lisa. I will be sure to try one of the French delicacies Foie Gras which is a ducks liver covered with many spices. I know that there will be many other activities and sights to see in France that I have yet to research. I will be sure to experience all of the great activities when i m in France. After France I will depart to Italy. Italy as well has many interesting views, such like the city of Rome. The first place I would like to stop at is Pompeii the the historical city of the Roman Empire. Following Pompeii I will set The Leaning Tower of Pisa as my destination. Italy is known for their great architecture. It was influenced by the Romans. This is just one of many of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While some chronic illnesses can be cured in a few weeks or months many last a lifetime. Chronic illnesses typically have a significant impact on clients, like treatments, coping, and dealing with possible side effects. When the chronic illness progresses to death then the illness would be life altering. According to webmd.com Multiple Sclerosis or MS is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord resulting in loss of muscle control, vision, balance, and sensation. • 7. An Artificial Object Into Space During World War II From a historical standpoint, the space travel that Americans know today arrived when German scientists took the first effort toward sending an artificial object into space during World War II. In 1942, Germany accomplished its launching of the V 2 rocket, the first manmade rocket sent into space (Schombert). Of course, the Soviet Union followed suit, historians writing down the name Sputnik in history texts to describe the country s first successful, unmanned orbital launch, completed on October 4, 1957 (Schombert). Before the world could recover from the technological whiplash, the race to the heavens had already become a trend among several world powers, and at once, shooting objects into the void became a display of national power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These dangerous endeavors lurk in a new unknown, and the journey to it is rife with explosive mishaps literally. Statistically, space travel is too worrisome and dangerous for private industries to maintain. Rather, of the 536 people who have travelled into space, 3.4 percent, or 18 astronauts, have died during missions (Silver 1). While this number may appear statistically insignificant, these sets of fatalities do not consider the overall risk potential, and the many other lives taken from astronaut training and non astronaut deaths that resulted from spaceflight related activities. In 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded 73 seconds into its flight, killing its entire crew. Many years later, the shuttle Columbia experienced a disastrous event on February 1, 2003, when the shuttle disintegrated over Texas and Louisiana upon reentrance of the mesosphere, killing another team. Now, Emery reports in his article that privately contributed space exploration continues this deadly trend, stating, The crash of the SpaceShipTwo was the second catastrophe in a gloomy week for the commercial space industry. On Tuesday, an unmanned Antares rocket exploded over Wallops Island, in Virginia. As illustrated, the frequent rate of failure with unmanned missions government or privately ran begs that, if any, the government should regulate these projects in a modern world with better ... • 11. A Hero s Journey Shortly after the discovery that my beloved wife had gone missing, I began to retrace my steps in search of her. I believe I must have lost her in the process of cycling up the hill; however, I cannot seem to make out which path I had come from. The night was closing in and I have yet to figure out which path I had come from. I stood at the fork staring blankly at the rusty colored dirt. My first thought was maybe she was sitting under a tree a few feet away from the road. I looked about for her golden hair to peak through the limbs, but I could see no sign of her. I called her name, and again, no sign. I thought to myself, perhaps she had gone to look for help at one of the nearby farms, but that seemed fairly unlikely. My wife was not of Dutch origin, and her tongue for the language was fairly unintelligible. I called her name several times before I heard the loud clonking of an animals hoof, a horse, perhaps. I squinted at the path ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I made it to the new path just in time to see the visitor breaching the top of the hill. It s quite funny, actually, I was cycling over a great hill and suddenly my legs had become stronger! Oh, but of course it was just my wife, who had seemingly jumped off of the cycle. Aha! I m searching for her now, have you seen her? She likes to talk a lot, if you must know. He stared at me with a look of amusement, and then spoke with a chuckle, I haven t seen your wife, sir, but I do know there is a town just down this path. Perhaps she is there. I wish you luck on your journey, good fellow. He slipped past me and continued down the path whistling to himself. • 12. How To Join The Disability Rights Movement Join The Disability Rights Movement Unbelievably, there are some disabled people who actually do not have basic human rights. There is a movement out there that is attempting to change that. That movement is the disability rights movement. The disability rights movement hopes to acquire equal rights and equal opportunities for people not given those basic human rights. I ve known since I was the tiniest of boys that I was different from the others, much, much different. It wasn t my physical appearance, my origin, nor my speech that made me unique. It was something internal. Walking down the wet, red bricked streets of Burlington, Vermont and exclaiming Hello to everyone I met was a natural, soft, fluttery feeling of giddiness. Some would wave, some would reply, and some stopped for a conversation, like the sweet, understanding people they are. This is my home. The life and consciousness that makes me, me, I treasure and feel blessed every day for it. Ms. Mooney from down the yellow, strong willed apartments loves to ask me about recent things. How has your boyfriend been , or come over to my cafe for your next date, it s on the house , she would say. The sweet, sorrow in her melancholy voice would remind me of her red haired, spirited girlfriend that passed away, but all she would do is smile brightly and make others smile around her. She wouldn t be the only one either to comment about my relationship in the town. Many of the people knew of Landon and I. He is the sweetest, kindest, most affectionate person you will ever meet. Of Thee I Sing succeeds as a play that reflects the world around them while poking fun at it. The play itself was fun, colorful, and interesting. From its high energized actors to its well choreographed dancing and singing. Of Thee I Sing is a musical that is full of terrific acting, dancing, staging, and stage directing. Anyone who did not see this production made a mistake not to see it. Of Thee I Sing is about John P. Wintergreen, who runs for President of the United States on the love platform. When he falls in love with the sensible Mary Turner instead of Diana Devereaux, the beautiful pageant winner selected for him, he gets into political hot water. The main characters of the play are John P. Wintergreen ( Joseph Edward Herr) a presidential candidate who, is running his campaign on love. Mary Turner ( Jennifer Totcky) Wintergreens love interest later wife. Diana Devereaux (Katie Whittermore) contest winner Wintergreens administration chose to be his wife before he fell in love with Turner. The play ends with the servants wheeling a large bed into the room, where Mary sits with the babies. Wintergreen leads everyone in proclaiming, Of Thee I Sing. The acting in Of Thee I Sing was nothing but spectacular. The acting from all of the actors was believable. The way how they projected their voices was well done and the how they delivered their lines was well executed. An actor who did these and more was Kyle Laing and Lexi Nieto. Kyle practically stole every scene he was in. He fully embodied his character. From his fast dialogue to his witty dialect. His pacing was great, he did not rush through his lines nor did he slow down. It was well paced. My favorite part of his performance were his facial expressions, he was very charismatic with the time he had on stage to express himself. Lexi Nieto s performance was nothing spectacular. Despite being a member of the ensemble, Nieto captivated my attention every time she was on stage. She made bold acting choices through her hilarious facial expressions, but still managed to not distract from the story. There was clarity for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Class Conflict In Grapes Of Wrath Kelsie Kimbrough Kleyn AP English Literature/ Period 4 August 2017 In the Midst of Hopelessness John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, takes place during the Great Depression, a time when troubled and distressed American men and women lived; a time of poverty and an economic crisis. When change is thought upon, it is to be thought of new life and new experiences. The Great Depression is the kind of change that replaces a part of American living with Somepin s happening. I went up an I looked, an the houses is all empty, an the lan is empty, an this whole country is empty ( Steinbeck 94). In his work, Steinbeck presents the hardships that Americans had to go through by being mindful of particular aspects which makes the reader understand the characters distress. For example, the landscape of the farm lands. Even though the land has its brutality, it grows to be the scenery for humans to be able to recognize and consider their troubles about work and life in general. With these concerns, there are differences between the people who are accustomed to the landscape and admire it, and those who do not agree with it. In the novel, Steinbeck uses attributes of class conflict and injustice as a way of presenting and socially commenting that the Great Depression brought attention to more problems beyond the idea of poverty. The class conflict between the poverty stricken migrants and the settled, assured business occupied Californians make for a powerful analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And, though they spill less often than trains do, the International Energy Agency found that pipelines spill much more in terms of volume three times as much between 2004 and 2012. The Bakken Pipeline s route takes it through active farmland, forests, and across the heartland s major rivers: The Big Sioux, the Missouri, and the Mississippi, some with multiple crossings, though the US Fish and Wildlife Service claims that no critical habitat is endangered. It also runs through sacred Native American lands (more on this below). Enbridge Inc., a stakeholder in the Bakken pipeline, has a speckled track record on spills. In 2010, an Enbridge pipeline spilled 1.2 million gallons of crude into the Kalamazoo River, one of the worst inland spills in American history. Because the pipeline qualifies as a utility (despite being privately owned and for profit), the Army Corps of Engineers was able to certify it without performing an environmental impact statement, as all utilities projects qualify as minimal impact. • 17. Thomas Kuhn s Theory Of Scientific Discovery The reason someone writes is in order to try and get a message or an idea across. For some topics its easier than others, but when you re trying and prove the whole idea of discovery wrong it may be more difficult. Thomas Kuhn writes Historical Structure of Scientific Discovery in an attempt to try and convey his message that the timeline role of discovery is wrong. He denies the idea about how some discoveries are misleading and make it seem they were found in a single moment. When you write you must assume that anyone can read it, so you have to keep your audience in mind. Different articles of science will bring in all kinds of readers. Not only was he writing to historians and scientists, but to the general public, so he needed to structure his writing to appeal his audience. Kuhn starts his project by letting readers know his purpose, he denies the idea of how an individual made a discovery at any moment. He opens up the reading to show what he finds wrong, so the reader can begin to paint a picture in their head. He gives his opinion on discovery and writes what he believes to be true. He makes an attempt to put the reader in his place and see things from his input. When a writer is able to put a reader in their shoes it becomes easier to perused them. What s different about Kuhn s writing is the way he structures it. He breaks up topics into different subcategories each having a subtitle. The political and legal aspects will be discussed in relation to the domestic and international environment. In order to have a grasp of the factors at play, this paper will use the Islamic law s enforcement of halal regulations as an example. This paper will highlight the issues in the domestic environment such as social and environmental concerns, intellectual property rights, and export and import controls. It will also show how the absence of a unified halal standard in the international level magnifies the importance to be aware of domestic certification bodies and unstable domestic laws and regulations. One of the best traits of my team was our excellent use of coordination. Coordination helped us stay organized, as well as made each team member more effective. We never missed a team meeting, and always completed our assigned work on time. The Gantt chart we created towards the beginning of our project, helped each member stay organized, so no one member took on a larger share of work than assigned to. As well as staying organized, we worked well as a team, and I believe we all respected each others abilities to complete our own tasks. The reason we were able to function so well, was because only the facilitator had the desire to lead. There were no power struggle and confrontations. There were never conflicting ideas in the team, we all accepted what we had to do and let one person take charge. However, that doesn t mean, we didn t put in a lot work. During the rumble the movie director added rain and a fire pit to create suspense. This made it distracting and burdensome to find the purpose of the rumble. • 28. Examples Of The Outsiders In The Outsiders The Outsiders Essay It s hard to be a hero when you do some bad things to get there. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton there are two completely different sides of town. The Socs are the rich kids who drive expensive cars and wear expensive clothes and the Greasers are considered the bums. They don t have money and they don t get whatever they want, they also have to work extra hard to get to where they want to be. If you are considered a greaser you are a muffin and the Socs are the cupcakes. Everybody would prefer a cupcake over a muffin, but in this story two boys were just trying to protect themselves and they get into some trouble while doing it so, they hit the road. I am going to tell you about whether or not Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes. In my opinion Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes and that is because they both ran into a burning building to save little kids from catching on fire and dying. People don t just sprint into burning buildings for enjoyment everyday unless it s your job and even then they don t do it for fun. They do it because they wanted to help save lives. Ponyboy going first showed that he didn t want to wait for the fireman to come because it was now or never. I ll get them, don t worry! I started at a dead run for the church, and the man caught my arm. I ll get them. You kids stay out! I jerked loose and ran on. All I could think was: We started it. We started it. We started it! ( Hinton pg. 91). Ponyboy felt bad because he knew that the cigarette him and Johnny had smoked started it. He risked his life to save those children, Johnny too. Johnny went in after Ponyboy. I looked around, startled. I hadn t realized Johnny had been right behind me all the way. (Hinton pg. 91/92). When Ponyboy was getting his head shoved in a fountain and held there by a Soc, Johnny had jumped in to save him. Johnny may have killed the Soc, but he did it to protect himself and Ponyboy, but Johnny is a greaser so he looks guilty to the police either way. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy. Shaw s Pygmalion is based on the Greek myth of Pygmalion and his statue Galatea. The film interpretation is similar to the play in many aspects, though it is different in that, because it is a film, the creators had more liberty with scenes and props used. My Fair Lady is a successful movie adaptation of Shaw s Pygmalion in that it conveys most of the message Shaw wrote, introduced very similar characters and storyline; however, the film adds in musical elements, more extravagant examples of scenes, and slightly different themes and emotional responses than the play itself has to offer audiences. My Fair Lady is basically a straight adaptation of Pygmalion much of the script is the same dialogue as the play exactly, or with a few words changed, and takes direct quotes from Shaw s writing. The characters have the same names that Shaw gave them, and their personalities are quite the same in both the play and the film. Burns and Auden use the themes of love and time to show that people will fall in love and that time will never stop. They both show how time can affect the way that the lovers in the poems feel about one another. In Burns poem, the speaker is newly in love, we know this because in line That s newly sprung in June he means that his love is just blossoming. Time is an important key in this poem, the speaker says that he will love his partner until the seas gang dry, my dear, and the rocks melt wi the sun he is saying that he will love them until the end of time itself. • 34. Disadvantages Of Driverless Cars I m on my way! you tell your friend over the phone as you step into your car. I ll be there in half an hour! You sit down and buckle up, absentmindedly opening the alarm app on your phone. You set it to wake you up in thirty minutes, then relax into your seat, turn on the radio, and close your eyes. How is this possible? Technology has advanced incredibly quickly over the last hundred years, with developments such as the Internet and the smart phone. Along with this technology has come a lot of developments in the robotics industry. Robotic surgeons, controlled by professionals, have hands much steadier and more precise than a human could ever hope to mimick, increasing safety and decreasing recovery time for surgery patients. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sensors like these protect against most accidents already, and make up for any amount of human error that might put a driver in some amount of peril. The ultrasonic sensors tell the car whether or not there are bumps on the road, or if it s approaching a curb, something a human is not always capable of doing, and the lidar on top identifies lane markers and the edges of the road by bouncing light off of them. Sensors on self driving cars take out all the guess work usually involved in driving a car out of the equation. While all of these sensors work together to steer the car away from danger, occasionally, says Olivia Solon, data amassed by all the sensors can conflict with each other, resulting in a dangerous situation referred to as sensor fusion. This fusion of sensors has already resulted in a fatal crash involving a tester of a self driving Tesla car; the sensors produced conflicting data, and as a result mistook a truck for an overhead road sign, causing the car to run directly into the truck. Therefore, while these numerous sensors are instrumental to the driverless car, they are still in development and not yet safe to trust with human lives. GPS tracking and positioning is also incorporated into every automated car, for the self evident purpose of informing driver and car where they are and where they re going. Some cars ... • 35. The Empire Of The Seljuk Ottoman Empire One of the small Turkish nomadic tribes in Anatolia during the 13th century was a dynasty named after the ruler Osman, the Ottomans. This small state emerged in Anatolia during the breakdown of the empire of the Seljuk Turks. The Ottomans quickly became an undeniable force and ended all other Turkish dynasties. The Ottoman Empire became one of the largest and longest lasting empires in the world, ruling the majority of the Middle East, northern Africa and southeastern Europe for over 600 years until its eventual fall in 1922. The Ottomans were one of the numbers of Turkish tribes that migrated from Central Asia. Initially they followed a primitive shamanistic religion. Their contacts with various tribes led to the introduction of Islam and they acquired their greatest combat tradition, that of the ghazi warrior. The first period of the Ottoman history was characterized by almost continuous territorial expansion. The Ottoman dominion spread out from a small Anatolian principality to cover a major amount of land in Middle East and southeastern Europe. Following the final defeat of the Seljuk Empire in 1293, Osman, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, led his principality to take over Byzantine Bithynia in northwestern Anatolia, commanded the ghazis against the Byzantines. Osman and his successors concentrated their attacks on Byzantine territories bordering the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara to the west. The Ottomans took advantage of the decay of the Byzantine frontier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Third Round Of Speeches In The Book Of Job In the book of Job, three different rounds of speeches are seen throughout. These speeches occur when Job and his friends are discussing the life of Job and the actions of God. The third round includes speeches from Eliphaz, Job, Bildad, and Zophar (Lucas, 2008, pg. 125). It is often questioned whether or not the third round of speeches in the Bible are in the original order. This is question because the flow in which the dissussion occurs causes some confusion. The textbook states that Bildad s speech is short and Job s reply contains some sections that might sound better on the lips of his friends (Lucas, 2008, pg. 124). The four main proposed reconstructions of the third round of speeches include: Dhorme, Stevenson, Gordis, and Habel (Lucas, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Still Alice Analysis I decided to do my review on the movie Still Alice. The movie started off with Alice giving a speech in an auditorium to hundreds of people when all of a sudden she forgot part of her speech. At first, she is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s at the age of 50. But later on, things start to get worse, she began to forget things more and more; she was officially diagnosed from a doctor with dementia later on. The movie itself was very saddening and showed how Alzheimer s can affect one s family, friends, and everyday life traumatically. From the aspect of the caregiver, the symptoms of dementia are disheartening. Dementia itself is a progressive decline in memory, learning, and thinking abilities. In terms of education, people with Alzheimer s have the intelligence of people who are about 10 years old in grade school. For the sociological aspect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people view Alzheimer s patients in a negative way and don t treat of them as a normal thinking person. Many people believe people with this disease are confused. Some research indicated that traits like fun and happy were at the bottom of how someone would describe a person with dementia. In the movie, not everyone viewed people with dementia with respect, mostly loved ones gave the most respect to Alice throughout the movie. I think that the title of the movie Still Alice brings up a good point. When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer s, how much of their identity do they still have left? It is disheartening to think about because this genetic disease affects so many families around the world. In spirit, Alice is still there throughout the movie. But her memory and social skills have slowly dismantled who she truly is as a person. Dementia takes over someone s life so rapidly it is frightening. I have learned from this movie to never take any moment for granted and to enjoy your time with loved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
