Illicit Drug Use And Safe Injection Sites
Illicit Drug Use and Safe Injection Sites: A Risk or a Benefit?
Heroin, methamphetamine, and opioids have been around for centuries and the use of these drugs is
not a new phenomenon. The use of injection drugs causes individual s serious harm and have placed
large expenses on the health care system. Heroin, cocaine and other drugs kill around 0.2 million
people each year, shattering families and bringing misery to thousands of other people (United
Nations iii); Because of these incidents harm reduction strategies have been put in place to create a
safer and more educated population, but it has only been a start. Safe injection sites has become a well
talked about term in the last decade. The term itself refers to a physical place ... Show more content on

202). SIS provides an upstream approach thanks to investing in solving the current complications of
IDUs. Overdoses are one of the high risk problems when working with IDUs. Marshall et al. recorded
that [b]etween Jan 1, 2001, and Dec 31, 2005, 290 accidental illicit drug overdoses occurred within
the city boundaries of Vancouver an average of 1·1 per week (1432). With SIS, the lack of
understanding can first be addressed, followed by the precautions and knowledge the individuals can
take away to prevent an overdose occurring personally or to another individual. Resources and support
are available from the staff working at SIS, which would be lost without these injection sites creating
relationships with health care workers. With the capability for healthcare providers to interact with this
population, the ability to directly improve individual lives, and progress quality of life is researched
and argued by authorities on the matter to occur.
Sites such as Insight were originally opened because of the growing awareness surrounding the high
rates of diseases intravenous drug use is known to cause, such as HIV and the Hepatitis C virus. With
these sites leveraged as a harm reduction strategy, the purpose is to provide education about safe drug
injection practices and the ways to prevent avoidable diseases and health threatening outcomes. SIS

Sexualisation Of Women In Music Videos Essay
Sexualisation can be defined as the imposing adult sexuality on to children and young people before
they are capable of coping with it usually through the media. In my investigation I aim to discover the
effects that sexualisation of men and women in music videos and the effects that this has, mentally and
emotionally, on the younger Australian generation. I also aim to discover the extent to which music
videos have been sexualized over time. In music videos the dancing or portrayal of the people within
these videos is often of a very sexual driven nature. This re inforces the idea that women are sexual
objects and the purpose of their being is to provide the male population with sexual satisfaction.
Women portrayed are very thin and pretty, wearing heavy layers of make up which portrays the idea
that women need materialistic items such as mascara and lipstick ... Show more content on

The song lyrics of this video contain references to more explicit sexual behavior. For example the
lyrics, You re far from plastic, talk about getting blasted make women seem like plastic models and
provides the message that it s okay to use women for sex. The song is said to perpetuate rape culture
by rejecting the concept of clear sexual consent: there should never be any blurred lines relating to
sex. A music video called defined lines was created in response to this music video in order to
challenge the message portrayed by blurred lines . The roles were reversed where the men in the video
were portrayed in a sexualized manner and the women were wearing suits. It is obvious after watching
the defined lines video that sexualizing men seems ridiculous and yet women are sexualized so often
that it has become a definite part of our

Albert Einstein Research Paper
Albert Einstein, who was born on March 14, 1879 and passed away on April 18, 1955 was a German
theoretical physicist who invented and developed the method of relativity, one of the two pillars of the
modern physics. He is best known for his mass energy formula E = mc2, which has been dubbed the
world s most famous equation . He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his services to
physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect ,a important step in the
development of explanation.
Einstein first proposed a special explanation of relativity in 1905 in his paper, On the Electrode This
life research. He was convinced of the good qualities of general relativity because it allowed for a
more (very close to the truth or true number) (statement about a possible future event) of planetary
orbits around the sun, which fell short in Isaac Newton s explanation (of why something works or
happens the way it does), and for a more big and wide, detailed and thoughtful explanation of how
(related to gravity) forces worked. Einstein s statements were promised/stated as true via (instances of

The Indian Boarding Schools
The Indian Boarding Schools In the late 1800s, Captain Richard Henry Pratt set out to Kill the Indian
in him, and save the man. (A Plea to Citizenize Indians). The goal to erase Indian cultures and replace
it with white American culture was sought to be achieved through boarding schools. Pratt was the
creator of the first Indian boarding school: Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. These government
funded boarding schools would take children from their homes on reservation, often for them to not
see their family again until they are grown(lecture). Pratt s goal was to eliminate the Indian culture
and incorporate the Indian people into the more civilized (Marr) American culture. This meant forcing
the Indian students to speak only English and to give up all cultural traditions, religions, names and
take up Christianity and American sounding names. Students were put into these boarding schools
with little or no contact with their families for eight to nine months of the year (Marr). These schools
operated with minimal funds, so the education was very insufficient. It was clear from the beginning;
the actual goal was not to give quality education for the Native American children but to get rid of the
Indian culture. The conditions within these boarding schools were often very poor for students. They
were underfunded and created on a basis of racism. There were two types of these schools: boarding
schools and the mission schools. The boarding schools were

Is Blanche Innocent Or Innocent
One`s Destiny Many people would say that Blanche is innocent and pure. However her lies and
difficult life experiences, it is proven that the way Blanche portrays herself is a pure show for the
others. The play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams portrays Blanche s dramatic shift in
beliefs, which through her encounters literally destroys her. Blanche originally grew up as an innocent
young girl, but life was just simply a tough journey encouraged this to change her and cause her to
become insane. Blanche s own actions is what lead her to her tragic downfall by the end of the story,
but many may consider Blanche a victim . Blanche s dramatic shift in beliefs, which through her
encounters, figuratively and literally destroys her. From the beginning, Blanche considers herself to be
innocent, but through many conflicts she begins to suffer and regress mentally and physically.
Early on in the play Blanche Dubois was a wealthy, innocent, and beautiful young woman. After
experiencing the hardship of loss, these characteristics slowly but surely went away. The tragic loss of
Blanche s husband, Allan Grey, and her childhood home in Belle Reve is what caused a turn of events
in Blanche s innocent life. Blanche Dubois had never been able to relieve herself from the guilt she
feels due to the loss of her husband. Blanche is ultimately responsible for her husband s

Heroic Actions In The Odyssey
In the Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as an hero after the Trojan war, however, he showed signs of
villainous acts throughout the story that were overshadowed by his, questionably, heroic actions. An
example would be when he fought the cyclops, Polyphemus. Instead of leaving peacefully, he let his
anger cloud his vision and taunted the giant by saying O Cyclops! Would you feast on my
companions? Puny am I in Caveman s hands? How do you like the beating that we gave, you damned
cannibal! Eater of guess under your roof! Zeus and the gods have paid you! (Odyssey, P.g 383) Due to
his taunt, his boat was washed back on shore. Even after his crewmates warned for him to stop, he
continued and told the cyclops who he was and where he was from. When

The House Of Bernarda Alba
Federico Garcia Lorca s The House of Bernarda Alba and Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House both protest
against the confinement of women of their days. Although the Houses are set differently in Spain of
20th century and Norway of 19th century respectively, both the plays relate in illuminating their
respective female protagonists, Adela and Nora, as they eventually develop a sense of individuality
and self expression and emerge as free individuals from repression. The authors attempts allow the
reader audience to gain an insight into the social norms that each protagonist was pitted against. This
heightens the tension as the action develops. Both Adela and Nora are inherently individualistic, and

(Lorca 142) Likewise, Nora of Doll s House assumes the mask of her husband Torvald s pretty little

because Torvald expects her to accept that he is right in not indulging her little whims (Ibsen 21) and
expects her to see her dancing and reciting (Ibsen 22) as per his wishes he expects her to be a doll
under his control. So, she finds a way [herself] (Ibsen 21) the way of deception to follow her own

stimulates them to stand up against repression and express their individual selves, guiding them to

Similarities Between Patrick Tillman And Theseus
Theseus Versus Patrick Tillman
Heroes are made by the paths they choose, not the powers they are graced with brodi Ashton. To begin
with, Theseus is a great hero, even in our time; he drove away Medea with the help of his father,
Aegeus. Second of all, Theseus also defeated the Marathonian Bull, a mighty bull that is terrorizing
the city of Marathon and Theseus cautiously and captured the bull in the city. Theseus also defeated
the Minotaur that was living in the labyrinth in Athens, Greece; the Minotaur was hunting down the
seven courageous boys and seven beautiful maidens. Furthermore, the major league football player

those who bore you! Fight for your children! Fight for your future! Fight for your name to survive!
Fight! For immortality! (Theseus). The relevancy of this quote is that you should fight for what is
right, for what you believe in, and most importantly, fight for your brothers beside you. Second of all,
Patrick Tillman is also a great hero, he quit football to join the Army to fight against the Taliban after
the September 11, 2001 crisis. Passion is what makes life interesting, what ignites our soul, fuels our

Descriptive Essay On People In Life
There are some people in life, that inspire you, while others can make it more exciting. But, there are a
few that can do both. Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something,
especially to do something creative. The people you meet or see in life that can do both seem to
influence your very own decisions. They produce unwavering emotions and never seem to concede.
These people are the true exemplars of the aphorism, You only live once. These people know how to
fight for their lives, or hold back their emotions for the greater good of others. Shannon Cummings,
Rick Porcello, and Devin/Jason Mccourty are my illustrations of people that live life to the fullest and
try to help others that aren t able to do the same on their own. They are honest when they need to be,
but they know when to tell a white lie to keep from hurting others. These people are philanthropists,
donating their time, money, or energy to help others. They are people that are stoic, keeping their
emotions to themselves when they are down, which allows others to do the same. Some of them are
underdogs in their areas of expertise, but they defy expectations regularly. They are people that
overcome many challenges in their way throughout life. These people share the same characteristics as
many others in the world, but it is how they use them that makes them extraordinary. It s not the hand
you re dealt that wins the game, it s how you play the hand you re dealt and overcome

The Patient Population Of Interest Essay
Data was collected in the health center, after the permission to conduct the study with the patient
population of interest was secured from the administrator of the health center. Data was collected from
January 5th, 2017 to March 5th, 2017. Patients in the waiting room were handed flyer invitation to
participate by the researcher, who goes over the contents individually with prospective participants to
determine eligibility for the study based on the criteria. The flyer explains the purpose of the study, the
population of interest, including how to participate, and once a patient is eligible he or she is given a
cover letter written in both English and Spanish that explains that participation is voluntary, and that
submitting the survey amounts to giving a consent to participate in the study. The cover letter also
explains that there are no benefits to the study, but the results will be posted in the health center where
the patients were recruited. After reading the cover letter and agreeing to participant in the study, the
patient is handed paper versions of both bilingual surveys along with writing instruments. When a
participant is done and has submitted their completed surveys, he or she will be given a copy of
correct responses to the DKQ 24 in both English and Spanish.

Democracy and Government
Democracy is defined as the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a system of
government based on this belief, in which power is either held by elected representatives or directly by
the people themselves. So by the very definition, these governments are enlisted to advocate for the
interest of its citizens regardless of gender, race or age. All democracies are government by a specific
document which outline the method in which they are run and what rights they protect. A common
facet in all these documents is a clause that states that the government runs solely on the will of the
people, wand when will differs, the majority will prevail. However the purpose of democracy is that it
allows the ideals of minorities to be expressed. This balanced system allows for all to have a voice.
Unfortunately many times Lobbyists and political parties can generalize the will of the people, serving
industries more than citizens. However this is often checked up on, and with recent emergence of third
parties, the voice of people can be heard.
Democracies are set to address the issues which adolescents believe are important, and many have
infrastructure to deal with adolescent issues. One of the popular examples of this is the United States
We the People online petitions, an interactive way that allows the White House keep a pulse on
important issues. Any petition that is signed by more than one hundred thousand people, will be

Plea Bargain Advantages
When most people think of criminal sentencing they think of a grand wooden courtroom with a full
jury and a proud judge in black presiding over it all, but that is far from the usual for those that are
accused of federal crimes. The reality of what happens after you are accused of a crime is much
different, as much of the bulk of those accused of a crime end up plea bargaining for a variety of
reasons, and very few people actually end up going to trial. An in depth look is necessary to really
understand the complicated truth of the relationship the plea bargain has with our justice system and
our citizens. To understand the plea bargain it takes looking into what originally it was made for, what
it represents now, and the effect it has on our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2013, while 8 percent of all federal crime charges were dismissed... more than 97 percent of the
remainder were resolved through plea bargains, and fewer than 3 percent went to trial. 3 It was the
goal at our country s founding that almost all citizens accused of a crime have a fair and impartial jury
trial to decide the innocence or guilt of the accused, and we know where and why that changed and the
effect it has on the system and government but what about the citizens and society? What about the
people the very system is meant to protect and serve? Despite the advantages plea bargaining gives to
the defendant it s very essence is assuming that the defendant is guilty, so what if they re not? It s not
all that uncommon to get the wrong guy when searching for a suspect especially when racial and class
profiling comes into the mix. So understanding the 8% being thrown out for this reason there s still a
lot of room for innocents still within the system, and going by the statistics it seems very likely that
there are innocents being forced, coerced, or outright bullied into plea bargaining

Dualness Of Mathematics
Thinking in interdisciplinary terms as I research, the topic of the effectiveness of online mathematics
education, has proved to be both challenging and enlightening. Defining a topic was the first challenge
I encountered. Initially, I planned to research the topic of online education effectiveness in the general
sense; unfortunately, what I found was that there was not a lot information available that would enable
me to find documentation from my two concentration areas of mathematics and informatics. As Repko
(2012) discusses in chapter three of our text, it is necessary to define the scope of the problem; he
further mentions it is often found that the scope of the problem needs to be redefined throughout the

193 220).
Repko (2012) mentions identifying relevant disciplines as a key step of the IRP, I have found it to be a
necessary concept to the process thus far (p. 143 145). There is much to be said about this topic from
the perspective of education, psychology, sociology, and even science (technologies). Understanding
how these perspectives have tried to solve the problem is necessary to move forward with new ideas
from the perspectives of mathematics and informatics.
While we were not required to read from chapter six, Conducting the Literature Review, I did find it a
useful read in preparing for finding relevant documents (STEP 6 of the IRP) for my research. In
particular, Repko (2012) discusses ways to assess a document for relevance to the topic, strategies, as
well as common mistakes; some of his questions such as identifying whether a document offers new
information, is a partial match to the topic, and searching the references of the work were very useful
as I waded through the mound of documents found (p. 180 182).
With my literature search concluded, I have begun the process of evaluating the ideas of all the
researchers. Of the literature I have thus reviewed, I have found that several them discuss a system of
online content delivery, relating it to student progress. It has been interesting to consider each of these
perspectives and conduct an analysis to recognize both the strengths of the

tax evasion. a case
A case on tax evasion by Anurag Kashyap
Introduction
Tax evasion is the illegal evasion of taxes by individuals, corporations and trusts. Tax evasion often
entails taxpayers deliberately misrepresenting the true state of their affairs to the tax authorities to
reduce their tax liability and includes dishonest tax reporting, such as declaring less income, profits or
gains than the amounts actually earned, or overstating deductions. Tax evasion is an activity
commonly associated with the informal economy. One measure of the extent of tax evasion (the tax
gap ) is the amount of unreported income, which is the difference between the amount of income that
should be reported to the tax authorities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word concealment is not used in the context of prosecution either under the present Act or the
proposed legislation. But there are provisions to tackle defaults of every kind. As regards penalty, the
Code provides for levy of penalty automatically, wherever there is a difference between reported and
assessed income. The removal of the word concealment takes away the need for inference of intent to
keep back any information relating to assessment. The law in the Code makes no difference between
the deliberate delinquency and the innocent omission so that the Code, as in most other aspects, is
more stringent on the taxpayer.
India loses 14 trillion rupees ($314 billion) from tax evasion annually, depriving it of funds for
investment in roads, ports, and power, says Arun Kumar, author of The Black Economy in India.
General government tax revenue is an estimated 18 percent of India s $1.5 trillion in gross domestic
product, the lowest among the four BRIC nations, International Monetary Fund data show. With so
little revenue coming in, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is now attempting India s biggest overhaul
of the tax code in half a century.
Investors say tax reform would boost their confidence. If the government does end up making a
substantial amount in revenue as a result of the tax overhaul, their deficit requirements should come

How Does Rebecca Grand Use Irony In The Labyrinth
Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that child be taken, I took him. You cowered
before me and I was frightening. I have reordered time, I have turned the world upside down, and I
have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn t that
generous? These words spoken by Jareth the Goblin king perfectly describe how the main character
felt throughout the Labyrinth a movie made from a story by Rebecca Grand. In the story Labyrinth the
author, Rebecca Grand, uses many different literary devices such as irony to surprise the audience.
The first type of irony type of irony the author uses in Labyrinth is dramatic. Dramatic irony is the
type of irony where the audience knows what is going to happen but the characters don t. One
example of dramatic irony is when Jareth, the Goblin king, tells Hoggle that if Sarah kissed him that
he would become the king of stink. This is dramatic irony because Sarah didn t know about what
Jareth said but the audience is aware. Another example, of dramatic irony is when Jareth s goblin army
is coming to attack Sarah and her friends. This is dramatic irony because of the knew the goblin army
was coming but Sarah and her friends didn t. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Situational irony involves a discrepancy between what is expected to happen and what actually
happens. One of the best examples of situational irony is when Jareth said to Hoggle don t lose your
head right before Sarah entered the forest with the fiery creatures, because the audience expects the
fiery creatures to take off Hoggles head but they actually try to take Sarah s head. In addition, another
example of situational irony is when Jareth gives Sarah another chance to get her brother back. This is
an example of situational irony because the audience expects Jareth to take the baby and be done but
he allows Sarah a chance to reclaim her

Intellectual Method The Four Spiritual Laws
Introduction
There are many methods to share the good news Of Jesus Christ Yeshua Messiah and I believe we
must use more than a few to reach strangers and friends or family. As the Word says, and he that
winneth souls is wise (Proverbs 11:30 KJV). As an intellectual method I prefer the The Four Spiritual
Laws method from author Bill Bright and Campus Crusade Ministries. Although I find this method
almost exact to the The Roman Road method. There are laws that govern our physical universe and

Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but through me (John
14:6 KJV). Law four is that we must believe this and freely receive this gift of life in Jesus Christ
Yeshua Messiah. We receive this gift through faith and when we do we experience a brand new
spiritual birth. John 1:12 says, But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the
sons of God, to them that believe on His name (KJV). For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: nor of works lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8 9
KJV). I think if you have the actual tracts the pictures are also a help aid to the listener you are
reaching out to with the good news that they might understand the spiritual rules our Lord has set! I
see one disadvantage to this method of evangelism whether you use the tract or just know the method
and the scriptures by heart and that is to offer water baptism to the person or persons you are
evangelizing. Another disadvantage to staying strictly to The Four Spiritual Laws does not mention
icebreakers or finding common ground with the one you are going to share with which I feel is very
important. I like what James Huston says, Before you ever say the word Bible, you have to build up

specific segment within a match. It usually involves a player agreeing, prior to the game that he will

number of runs, or a bowler bowling a consecutive number of wide balls in a particular over, etc. Spot
fixing stands in contrast to match fixing which refers to the practice of fixing the result of an entire

Players have certain responsibilities and patriotism as well when they are doing these sorts of stuffs.
Why some players do that eventually is still a mystery to them. To understand this complex motivation
we can look up to the sayings of the former South African captain and late Hansie Cronje who has a
life time ban punishment for match fixing. Cronje said, Sometimes you have to pinch yourself to
realize what the position is at the moment. I don t know why I did it. I ve asked myself the question so
many times over and over again. And it s obviously a mistake that I ve made. I cannot find one answer
that will give me an answer to that one question. (Page of shame series: Match fixing and spot fixing

the gamblers are part of the underworld. the fix matches and earned through betting houses and put
those money into illegal activities such as drugs, arms etc. The manipulation of cricket matches is
directly related to organized crime and economic crimes, through which tens of millions of dollars end

to launder black money; illegal gains are paid out to corrupt players and returned back many times

Themes like adolescent changes and pregnancy, labour and child birth, lactation and nurturing, caring
and child rearing, are recurrent themes related to the biological aspects of motherhood, in the poems
written by women. This phase of maternity and the changes that accompany it, whether biological,
psychological or socio cultural, have been depicted from a variety of perspectives by women writers.
Eunice De Souza in her poem, Catholic Mother (1, see the appendix for full poem) depicts in a
nutshell the issues that politicise motherhood. De Souza, through the use of brief and cryptic
sentences, depicts the predicament of a woman as mother. The poem though entitled, Catholic Mother
has a male persona as the speaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

United States Political Thought As A Democracy
United States political thought today as of today is considered a democracy. A democracy is where the
citizens of the United States are eligible to vote for the leaders that represent the country. Without the
drafting of the British documents, such as The Magna Carta and the Petition of Rights along with the
political upheaval of the Glorious Revolution and Enlightenment, America today would be following
the traditional acts of arbitrary monarchical rule. All of these specific times in history were outcomes
of people seeing that absolute monarchies were trouble for the fundamental rights of the people. Being
under an absolute monarchy is similar to being under a dictatorship which leaves no say in the hand of
the people.
The Magna Carta, also known as The Great Charter, was the first step into people receiving the rights
that they deserved. The King of England, King John was forced by his barons to sign the charter to
establish that the monarch was no longer absolute and that the people were guaranteed a trial by jury
and due process of law. King John is considered to be one of the worst kings in history. He was not in
favor of the people, he was in favor of himself. He was such a greedy King who would penalize any
baron who went against his wishes.
In 1206, King John lost some land that he was insistent on getting back. Normandy, Anjou, Maine and
parts of Poitou were no longer under his control. The way he went about it was to harshly raise the
taxes. If the people

Reflection Paper On Preschool Education
Reflection Paper In my opinion preschool is a very important part in education and it should be
provided to all. Preschool has been provided for some kids in the past and for others they have not had
the chance to be able to be enrolled in these programs. From the research that there has been about
preschool programs, there tends to be a lot of positive results. The idea of early education on children
has always caught my attention because of all the benefits it comes with. That is why my belief is that
schools should provide preschool education programs to their communities. My thoughts about
preschool education programs is that I believe they are beneficial to the child because of the positive
affects it has on them. I know that by receiving preschool education before they actually start their
school career, help them adapt to the start of their education. I believe that preschool also helps
children in being able to get used to the idea of having to attend school and to be able to start
socializing with peers. Preschool also opens up the opportunity for children to become more aware of
their surroundings at an earlier age. I believe that becoming more aware of their surroundings, they
become more open to learning about new things. The concept about a federally funded preschool for
all program sounds nice, but at the same time I feel that there can be a limitation. I agree with the fact
that there should be a free for all program. I believe that every child has a right to be able to gain the
advantage of becoming fast learners. Also, I believe that each child has a right to become a better
person or to gain insight about their environment. The problem that I could see going wrong with
federally funded programs is that some requirements can be strict. I can see the idea of it trying to
restrict how many children can be involved in certain activities. Also, I can see that the programs will
be limited on funds to the point that some programs can have more than others. This can be a problem
because it is limiting the resources that a child could obtain.
In my perspective, a preschool education program consists of staff who have a lot of patience for kids,
attend to their needs, and truly care for them.

The Globalization Of The Economy
The globalization of the economy encourages organizations to achieve greater market coverage, which
allows companies to define or redefine its strategic posture. Thus, there have been so intense
outsourcing processes that enable organizations to address the new challenges and therefore,
organizations must develop skills and abilities that enable them to cope with the demands from the
environment.
Knowledge and analysis of the internal part of the organization and his environment arise the strategic
lines that must be converted into actions to develop advantages and create greater value to what they
do. A strategic outsourcing option is a long term process, where the commitment of contractors should
encourage financing training and technical assistance to subcontractors for this to have greater chance

The International Criminal Court (ICC), created in 1998 (Thayer and Ibryamova 2010), is responsible
for investigating and prosecuting the most extreme cases, including crimes against humanity,
aggressive crimes, war crimes, and genocide. The credibility of this institution, however, has been
compromised due to the United States revocation of support and membership. Initially it is important
to recognize the arguments against the United States becoming a member state of the ICC and what
precipitated the U.S. withdrawing its signature from the document that instituted the Court. Once this
has been established, addressing and refuting these objections will develop the arguments in favor of
ICC membership. Finally, this analysis will lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response, the U.S. has adopted the American Service Members Protection Act (ASMPA) and
Article 98. Both are meant to prevent United States citizens from being subjected to ICC regulations;
the result is a confusing message implying that citizens of the US are exempt from the same laws and
standards as are expected from the remaining world population. Legislation like the ASMPA and
Article 98 has further deteriorated the image of the US in the international community (Elsea 2002).
The United States decision to not join the ICC is largely contested today; however, many may be
unaware that though its role is currently vehemently debated, the United States was once instrumental
in the creation of the Court. Even prior to World War I, the United States was a proponent of
international courts, as well as was the creator of many standards of global law now incorporated into
the Rome Statute that created the International Criminal Court. Among these contributions are,
Inclusion in the jurisdiction of the Court of crimes committed during internal armed conflicts, and the
drafting of a supplemental code explaining the precise actions and intent that must be proved for each

What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by doing
this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good
theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The
History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber.
In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the
moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good
life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were
living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if
their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them
faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we
can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it.
While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences
between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the
other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. One of
the main differences

The Natural Development Of Banana Ripening Essay
Introduction Banana ripening is characterized as the process in which starch breaks down into sugar,
acid is neutralized, aromatic compounds are formed from larger organic molecules, softening occurs
due to a decrease in pectin concentration, and, finally, a change in color from the loss of chlorophyll
and its green pigment. This natural development is due to a single organic gas: ethylene. As this
hydrocarbon is produced by the fruit various enzymes are produced, catalyzing the previously stated
reactions and ripening the banana.1 Qualitatively, banana ripening can be measured by the color of the
peel, degree of hardness, and aromatic properties for this is an indicator of the level of ethylene
exposure and state of ripeness A banana unexposed to a significant amount of ethylene has a green
peel. This is due to the high concentration of chlorophyll; however, as this banana comes in contact
with more ethylene enzymes break down chlorophyll into other various compounds (carotenoids,
anthocyanin, etc.) with different pigments.2 Likewise, as ripening continues, pectin is broken down by
pectinase, softening the banana. Finally, banana ripeness can be determined by the aroma, for an
unripe banana is lacking the fragrant esters associated with a banana that has been exposed to
sufficient amounts of ethylene.1 These methods are general recognized as reliable indicators of banana
maturity; however, scientific analysis can also be conducted on the banana to determine the degree of

weapons because the particles in the air could travel causing more land to be radiated. Nuclear
weapons don t explode on impact, they detonate in the air hence, mushroom clouds are created. The
mushroom cloud is the radioactive particles from the bomb. The obvious answer to fix nuclear
weapons is to get rid of them all but we all know that is unlikely. The United States wouldn t even

A great sense of Charlie s emotions is portrayed in the song Asleep and could be analyzed in great
depth by the reader to discover Charlie was suicidal without telling the reader. A simpler example was
Peter Pan and the well known storyline displaying growing up. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
displays the idea of fitting in, the broad range of characters the come together like Charlie being
adopted into his group of friends. All three examples of intertextual themes display different ideas and

To Kill A Mockingbird And A Separate Peace By John Knowles
The informed, written analysis and evaluation of a work of literature is known as literary criticism,
which is based on a literary theory. An examples of such a literary theory is intertextual criticism,
involving the comparison of two separate novels. Written by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is
comparable to A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Both novels are fictitious and showcase universal
symbols, themes, characters, and numerous other literary devices utilized by authors. Similarities
between these two novels are exhibited by the author s use of a tree as a symbol for life and death, the
victim, archetype, and weather as a symbol for change. One reoccurring symbol is the representation
of a tree as a symbol for life and death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Separate Peace, the Super Suicide Society, in which the boys at Devon jumped off the tree into
the creek, serving as a cementation of Gene and Finny s friendship. The activities on the tree provided
an outlet of fun during the boys lives at school and during the war. But, the very same tree led to Finny
s death, and Gene s figurative death, making it a symbol of the contrast between life and death. The
victim archetype is displayed in the characters of both novels. During the trial, Tom says to Mr.
Gilmer, no suh, scared I d hafta face up to what I didn t do (Lee 225). Upon being asked why Tom ran
away if he was innocent, he replies that he didn t want to be wrongfully convicted, which is exactly
what unfolds. Despite his credible testimony and the clear evidence of Bob and Mayella s lies, Tom
must suffer for the wrongdoings of the Ewells, with virtually no escape from his fate. Because of the
instilled prejudice into society, Tom is ostracized by the townspeople. Similarly, Phineas suffers
physically when Gene states that my knees bent and I jounced the limb. Finny...broke through the little
branches below and hit the bank with a sickening, unnatural thud...one of his legs had been shattered
(Knowles 60 61). Overcome by jealousy, Gene causes Finny to suffer through physical pain in the
months to come. Due to someone else s impulsive, but intentional, actions,

Symbolism In The Minister s Black Veil
What can the central symbol of the veil mean? The main character of Minister s Black Veil by
Nathaniel Hawthorne is a thirty years old parson Hooper who is wearing a black veil on his face. It
does not seem much fun but more like it is strange and revolting to people in the story that parson
Hooper is having a veil on the face. Why would the parson wear a veil? In the end of the story there is
a note that says that there was another clergyman in New England who ...made himself remarkable by
the same eccentricity... but the symbol here is different. He had accidently killed his friend and after
he hid his face until his own death. Either that story was real or not it makes Minister s Black Veil
more realistic and it could be what inspired the author to write the story. The Minister s Black Veil
seems like a moral allegory. Not just the veil but the act of wearing it is important. The veil also
alienates the parson from people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hardly anyone would have sympathy for Mr. Hooper because it seems crazy to be wearing a veil
especially for a man or a parson. And it is hard to get some logical reasons why Mr. Hooper got a veil
on his face. One couple seeing the veil judged: How strange, said a lady, that a simple black veil, such
as any woman might wear on her bonnet, should become such a terrible thing on Mr. Hooper s face! .
People in the town could not find out why Mr. Hooper is covering up his face. Goodman Gray of the
sexton when saw Parson Hooper said: Are you sure it is our parson? . The story tell us what the people
think about the veil: But that piece of crap, to their imagination, seemed to hang down before his
heart, the symbol of a fearful secret between him and

Sociological Research On Physical Disability
The labelling theory are the actions of individuals who are labelled or seen as deviant. The theorist
Becker suggests labelling theories which is to look beyond by just the norm breaking act but instead
focuses on how society view people who are deemed as deviant in this case physically disabled and
reactions from society whether it is good or bad. Physical disability is when a person lost full or partial
loss of their bodily functions. Labelling perspective is still relevant in our society and for society to be
able to look beyond the norm breaking; society needs to develop an understanding about the
difference between disabilities . Stigma labels may produce the deviant behaviour that is being
condemned and therefore individuals can become the thing that they are labelled as. Stigma are bodily
traits, marks or features that are in some way unusual . Which can occur as a consequence for social
rejection.
Most sociological research on physical disability by using a labelling theory approach and focusing on
the negative consequence of the stigma. Labelling behaviour as disability can provide the disability
people with opportunities and whether labelling perspective has a negative or positive consequence on
physical disability. Negative consequences would include restrictions on rights, limitations on life
chances, limitations on future participation in society and employment difficulties for the individuals
who are physically disabled, those all result in a negative

Green And Social Responsibility For Global Warming
Nowadays, people are becoming increasingly aware of environmental protection. Going green is a
term used to refer to a series of process aimed at embracing an environmental and ecologically
friendly lifestyle while at the same time adhering to legal and social norms aimed at practicing the
environments and natural resources. The adoption of gen strategies by governments and most industry
players is informed by the adverse effects of climate change that continue to increase the costs of
production while at the same time accelerating environmental degradation. Currently, the world has
put more emphasis on going green and embracing socially responsible approaches. The rising costs of
climate change and the debilitating effects of global warming have been the main reasons for the
vibrant state of going green and socially responsibility conventions in the world. Startling statics about
climate change have informed the need to embrace sustainable approaches in business and governance
as a way of mitigation. To justify the vibrant state of going green and social responsibility in the world
today, one has to revisit the grim statics associate with global warming (Stewart, 2014). Studies have
revealed that at least 45 percent of the world s population is adversely affected by climate change. The
effects of this global phenomenon are evenly distributed across all the continents of the world. From
Australia to Texas, droughts are systematically becoming common environmental phenomena.

Response To Stress
When it comes to the factors that influence our response to stress, there are many and it involves many
and multiple organs and glands controlling both the endocrine and nervous system. These two systems
coordinate and communicate to make sure that our bodies know how to effectively deal with
challenges, but not so much to the point of hyper arousal or otherwise incapacitating anxiety. However
the act of balancing the two is tricky and both our brain and body do not always get it right. This
arousal though is necessary to ready our bodies for taking action. As we become more aware in
response to our stressors, our attention sharpens and our alertness increases. Meanwhile other aspects
fade into the background, such as the environment. The narrowed

The Ku Klux Klan In The US
The second Ku Klux Klan is the oldest domestic terrorist group. The Klan was a physical symbol of
racism and violence. The Klan took advantage of the common man, in a state of vulnerability and
turned them against their fellow brothers. The revival of the Ku Klux Klan beginning in the 1910s
occurred as a result of economic and cultural tensions in America. Because of an economic recession
following World War I, many farmers migrated to cities and competed with immigrants for jobs. These
newly arrived farmers held views at odds with others regarding enforcement of Prohibition and the
role of religion and women in America. As a result, many turned to the Ku Klux Klan to resolve these
competing tensions. Nathaniel Forrest was a General in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immigration was at an all time causing confusion and fear. As a result the KKK broaden their scope of
racism: to blacks, Catholics, Jews, Irish, and Franco Americans. Catholics were brought to the U.S. in
large numbers in the 1920s. They did not indulge in their cultural and dedicated their lives to their
faith. They are discriminated against because of their lack of culture and financial stability. The KKK
saw them as a nuisance but in reality they were simple. They had no issue with public schools or the
education they could afford. The most controversy they through about were the opposition of the
Prohibition, which the KKK was in huge support of. Catholics were not the only ones who dealt with
discrimination. The KKK claimed blacks were not even a person; they did not have souls, so they do
not deserve to be equal the eyes if the law. Jews were believed to be decedents and representatives of
Satan. The Klan thought that blacks were the cause of the crime in America and are less intelligent in
comparison to whites. The Klan feared Hispanics would invade the U.S. The Klan discriminated
towards people of color who compete for lower class jobs, blaming economic and educational failures
on them. Though Jews and African Americans were largely discriminated against; they were not alone
in their struggles. The Irish were portrayed as brutish, monkey like humans involved in crime. Italians
were perceived to put their loyalty in their homeland Italy first, not to the United States. All these
races were largely associated with saloons, which automatically put them at odds with the KKK.
Founded in 1893 the Anti Saloon league was a singled minded organization on the advancement of

Heroin, methamphetamine, and opioids have been around for centuries and the use of these drugs is not a new phenomenon. The use of injection drugs causes individual s serious harm and have placed large expenses on the health care system. Heroin, cocaine and other drugs kill around 0.2 million people each year, shattering families and bringing misery to thousands of other people (United Nations iii); Because of these incidents harm reduction strategies have been put in place to create a safer and more educated population, but it has only been a start. SIS provides an upstream approach thanks to investing in solving the current complications of IDUs. Overdoses are one of the high risk problems when working with IDUs. Marshall et al. recorded that [b]etween Jan 1, 2001, and Dec 31, 2005, 290 accidental illicit drug overdoses occurred within the city boundaries of Vancouver an average of 1·1 per week (1432). With SIS, the lack of understanding can first be addressed, followed by the precautions and knowledge the individuals can take away to prevent an overdose occurring personally or to another individual. Resources and support are available from the staff working at SIS, which would be lost without these injection sites creating relationships with health care workers. With the capability for healthcare providers to interact with this population, the ability to directly improve individual lives, and progress quality of life is researched and argued by authorities on the matter to occur. Sites such as Insight were originally opened because of the growing awareness surrounding the high rates of diseases intravenous drug use is known to cause, such as HIV and the Hepatitis C virus. With these sites leveraged as a harm reduction strategy, the purpose is to provide education about safe drug injection practices and the ways to prevent avoidable diseases and health threatening outcomes. Sexualisation Of Women In Music Videos Essay Sexualisation can be defined as the imposing adult sexuality on to children and young people before they are capable of coping with it usually through the media. In my investigation I aim to discover the effects that sexualisation of men and women in music videos and the effects that this has, mentally and emotionally, on the younger Australian generation. I also aim to discover the extent to which music videos have been sexualized over time. In music videos the dancing or portrayal of the people within these videos is often of a very sexual driven nature. This re inforces the idea that women are sexual objects and the purpose of their being is to provide the male population with sexual satisfaction. A music video called defined lines was created in response to this music video in order to challenge the message portrayed by blurred lines . The roles were reversed where the men in the video were portrayed in a sexualized manner and the women were wearing suits. • 5. The Indian Boarding Schools The Indian Boarding Schools In the late 1800s, Captain Richard Henry Pratt set out to Kill the Indian in him, and save the man. (A Plea to Citizenize Indians). The goal to erase Indian cultures and replace it with white American culture was sought to be achieved through boarding schools. Pratt was the creator of the first Indian boarding school: Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. These government funded boarding schools would take children from their homes on reservation, often for them to not see their family again until they are grown(lecture). Pratt s goal was to eliminate the Indian culture and incorporate the Indian people into the more civilized (Marr) American culture. This meant forcing the Indian students to speak only English and to give up all cultural traditions, religions, names and take up Christianity and American sounding names. Students were put into these boarding schools with little or no contact with their families for eight to nine months of the year (Marr). These schools operated with minimal funds, so the education was very insufficient. It was clear from the beginning; the actual goal was not to give quality education for the Native American children but to get rid of the Indian culture. The conditions within these boarding schools were often very poor for students. They were underfunded and created on a basis of racism. Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. The people you meet or see in life that can do both seem to influence your very own decisions. They produce unwavering emotions and never seem to concede. These people are the true exemplars of the aphorism, You only live once. These people know how to fight for their lives, or hold back their emotions for the greater good of others. • 28. Reflection Paper On Preschool Education Reflection Paper In my opinion preschool is a very important part in education and it should be provided to all. Preschool has been provided for some kids in the past and for others they have not had the chance to be able to be enrolled in these programs. From the research that there has been about preschool programs, there tends to be a lot of positive results. The idea of early education on children has always caught my attention because of all the benefits it comes with. That is why my belief is that schools should provide preschool education programs to their communities. My thoughts about preschool education programs is that I believe they are beneficial to the child because of the positive affects it has on them. I know that by receiving preschool education before they actually start their school career, help them adapt to the start of their education. I believe that preschool also helps children in being able to get used to the idea of having to attend school and to be able to start socializing with peers. Preschool also opens up the opportunity for children to become more aware of their surroundings at an earlier age. I believe that becoming more aware of their surroundings, they become more open to learning about new things. The concept about a federally funded preschool for all program sounds nice, but at the same time I feel that there can be a limitation. I agree with the fact that there should be a free for all program. I believe that every child has a right to be able to gain the advantage of becoming fast learners. Also, I believe that each child has a right to become a better person or to gain insight about their environment. The problem that I could see going wrong with federally funded programs is that some requirements can be strict. I can see the idea of it trying to restrict how many children can be involved in certain activities. Also, I can see that the programs will be limited on funds to the point that some programs can have more than others. This can be a problem because it is limiting the resources that a child could obtain. In my perspective, a preschool education program consists of staff who have a lot of patience for kids, attend to their needs, and truly care for them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Garett Miller IUF 1000 section 234H Pokhrel 27 October, 2015 What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by doing this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it. While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. • 35. The Natural Development Of Banana Ripening Essay Introduction Banana ripening is characterized as the process in which starch breaks down into sugar, acid is neutralized, aromatic compounds are formed from larger organic molecules, softening occurs due to a decrease in pectin concentration, and, finally, a change in color from the loss of chlorophyll and its green pigment. This natural development is due to a single organic gas: ethylene. As this hydrocarbon is produced by the fruit various enzymes are produced, catalyzing the previously stated reactions and ripening the banana.1 Qualitatively, banana ripening can be measured by the color of the peel, degree of hardness, and aromatic properties for this is an indicator of the level of ethylene exposure and state of ripeness A banana unexposed to a significant amount of ethylene has a green peel. This is due to the high concentration of chlorophyll; however, as this banana comes in contact with more ethylene enzymes break down chlorophyll into other various compounds (carotenoids, anthocyanin, etc.) with different pigments.2 Likewise, as ripening continues, pectin is broken down by pectinase, softening the banana. Finally, banana ripeness can be determined by the aroma, for an unripe banana is lacking the fragrant esters associated with a banana that has been exposed to sufficient amounts of ethylene.1 These methods are general recognized as reliable indicators of banana maturity; however, scientific analysis can also be conducted on the banana to determine the degree of ...
