Disparity Between Passion of the Christ and the Bible Essay
The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus of
Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most anticipated and popular
religious movies in modern society, it therefore becomes susceptible to criticism. Although the film
is based upon the stories within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many
exaggerations and non biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a
movie, but the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the
most publicly criticized themes and concepts present in the movie. The Passion emphasizes the
brutality Jesusendured to give himself for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of independence, but the high
priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy or respect. Even at the voice of the
governor Pontius Pilate, who several times mentions that he doesn t find any guilt or reason to
persecute Jesus, the people still wish for his crucifixion. The movie did not really make sense of
the motivation of the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the
gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out
of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited
the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore, according to
the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be
crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered
outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain
why the Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests
that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are
adamantly screaming for his death, but the gospels do not explain it. The appearance of Satan
within several important scenes of the movie is also something that is not found within the Bible.

Socialism In The Jungle, By Upton Sinclair
Socialism Throughout The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, he portrays that capitalism is the cause of all
evils in society. No matter how hard Jurgis and his family worked and tried, they were still stuck in
the same squalor. Sinclair uses the life of Jurgis s family, an immigrant family, to indicates that
capitalism is bad, unfair, deceitful, untrust, inhuman, and violent. In Sinclair s point of view,

Split Sisters and Split Personalities of Goblin Market Essay
Split Sisters and Split Personalities of Goblin Market
I have 50 different personalities, and still I m lonely (Amos). Perhaps everyone is truly composed
of multiple personalities embodied within one whole. Whether these split personalities are actual or
purely metaphorical, no one human being has a single sided mind, and a single sided position on
everything. Within the brain many battles are raged between opposing sides of issues, between the
personalities. Goblin Market is one of Christina Rosetti s sister poems, a form in which she used
sisters to represent different aspects of the split personality that was caused by conflicting attitudes
and mixed emotions towards love (Bellas 66). The two opposing young sides of ... Show more

Lizzie is the sister who conforms to the Victorian expectations of her day. Laura is the wild,
passionate sister, unafraid to hold back her feelings. In two of the first lines involving the sisters
these personalities are developed. In response to the goblin men Lizzie veiled her blushes a
modest gesture, hiding her femininity. Laura, however, bowed her head to hear. The initial
impression is of modesty from the act of bowing her head, yet a curiosity is displayed because
she bows her head to hear. Lizzie then tells Laura that she should not peep at goblin men. This
warning seems parroted in response. A lesson told by someone that the conservative Lizzie does
not question. Despite this warning Laura rear[s] her glossy head to look. Laura refuses the
warnings of her Victorian era. Laura again refuses to conform and catapults the reader into the story
by chos[ing] to linger/Wondering at each merchant man.
Unlike Lizzie who maintains the reserve taught to her by the Victorian environment, Laura
succumbs to the attractions of the Goblin fruit, (Harrison 114), weakened by her passionate
yearning for the fruit. Laura with surprisingly little reluctance clip[s] a precious golden lock of
her hair, a symbolic gesture of giving away one of the most precious items possessed by a woman
in Victorian morals. She returns from the wild adventure to find Lizzie full of wise upbraidings, a

Persuasive Essay About Multitasking
Dear Parents,
In recent years, researchers have been focusing on the issues of students multitasking while
studying. Whereas, multitasking is not a recent phenomenon, but it has grown dramatically and
been debated by society. Conducting numerous tasks at one time, shifting gears from one to other
while studying and doing homework has become frequent behavior among students. Many students
are very proud of their multitasking competency. For instance, listening to music, watching TV, and
texting while doing schoolwork. As parents you might wonder seeing your children multitasking
competency. Yet is multitasking positively a good method? A 2010 study offers perhaps the most
surprising result: those who consider themselves to be great multitasker are in fact the worst
multitaskers (Taylor12). Indeed, researchers have proven that when student attempts to multitask
their performance actually decreasing and impairing their memory, so their learning become less
productive than a single task. Another study reported that when students are working on their
computer and have the television on, the level of distraction is startling (Taylor12). Again, the
multitasking habit has grown become a problematic in a learning environment. Indeed, as parents,
you don t want your children schoolwork and learning to sink, you need to encourage your children
to study as much as they can. The development of technology has made students who multitask
think that they are utilizing time more

The Negative Impacts Of Food Inseecurity
Introduction
Millions of people every day do not know when they are going to eat their next meal. This brings
upon great stress to households as finding their next meal becomes the priority. The United States
defines this shortage of food in households as food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA) has defined food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active,
healthy life (Coleman Jensen, Rabbitt, Gregory, Singh, 2017). Households that are food insecure
will often skip meals, eat low nutritious dense food, and face high stress levels of making food
last until they are able to buy more food for their home. Food insecurity is a serious issue that is
consistently overlooked and it needs more attention because it has a negative impact on the families.
Literature Review Food insecurity affects every community in the United States. About 12.3% of
U.S. households were considered food insecure in 2016 (United States Department of Agriculture
2017). This number has not changed much from the 12.7% it was in 2015. Food insecurity can
affect anyone, but certain groups are more vulnerable to this issue. For instance, low income
households, the elderly, children, and immigrants are at highest risk to be food insecure. In
particular, it is households with children that are most affected by food insecurity. The rate for these
households was higher than the national average at 16.5% for the year 2016 (United States

Alexander the Great and the proliferation of the Greek culture everywhere. I think I will sent him

Examples Of Righteousness In The Crucible
Over the course of history, the idea of righteousness has clouded people s thinking, leading to
cruel and unnecessary forms of punishment. Arthur Miller s The Crucible significantly illustrates
human cruelty in the name of righteousness. Inspired by the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s,
Miller s play, The Crucible, focuses on the inconsistencies of the Salem witch trials and the
extreme behavior that can result from dark desires and hidden agendas. Miller bases the play on
the historical account of the Salem witch trials, a series of hearings before local magistrates
followed by trials to prosecute people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts, between
February 1692 and May 1693. A modern day example that can be recognizably compared to the
Salem witch trials is racial profiling that manifested in the 1700s. Racial profiling is the use of race,
ethnicity, gender, religion, or national origin by law enforcement agents as a factor in deciding
whom to investigate, arrest, or detain with no evidence of a specific crime or criminal behavior.
Throughout the play, there are numerous instances of human cruelty in the name of righteousness
that outline the basis of the Salem witch trials and racial profiling in today s society. In both of the
situations, The Crucible and racial profiling, individuals use their authority to commit hanice
interrogation techniques to get what they want from innocent citizens. You will confess yourself or

John Locke Is Wrong And Identity Of Humans
Just what is a person? What makes a person, a person? Are humans just made of atoms and
molecules just like what the scientists say? Or are humans something else, a soul perhaps? This has
been debated for centuries by great philosophers, and one of them is John Locke. His idea of
identity of a human is that humans are conscious beings thus their identity involve consciousness.
However, Thomas Reid believes that Locke is wrong and identity of humans are transitive. But

A simple example of this is: The person is the same person as someone in the past if the person
has the consciousness of the experience that the someone in the past did. Thus, the identity of a
person is limited to how much the conscious of later person remembers their earlier conscious
memories. Only then he is truly the same person or himself. But then this bring few questions:
Can there be a the same thinking substance in different people or different thinking substance in
the same person and how do we punish people? To answer the first question he believes that the
issue lies whether a immaterial being with consciousness could have its consciousness of its
past actions be completely removed then begin a life with new consciousness. Nonetheless if it
was possible then Locke argues that there is no reason to say that the person who s soul and
conscious lived before the removal is the same person whose new consciousness took over. To
answer the second part, Locke says that the answer depends on whether the conscious of the past
actions can be transferred to another person who did not experience it. Locke believes this
phenomenon is possible and if it was, would this person be the same person he was before? Yes.

Narrative Voice In The Tell-Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
The mark of a skilled writer is shown in their individuality, crafting a narrative voice that becomes
recognizable and, therefore, respected. The narrative voice of the story encompasses the author s
writing style, what techniques they use, and how their presentation of the story overall strengthens
the story. When writing, nearly each element from the characters to the setting s influence needs
some level of consideration on how it will play into the story. If there is a lack of nuance in the
writing, or if major aspects of the story are not fully established, it will fail to communicate the
author s themes to the audience in an effective way. In classic poetry and literature, Edgar Allan Poe
remains one of the most iconic writers. His works are known for their melancholy and macabre
narratives, often grotesque imagery, and how each explores thought provoking themes in intense
ways; all of which are attributed to Poe s gothic narrativevoice. For example, one of his most
noteworthy short stories, The Tell Tale Heart, chronicles the efforts of an undisclosed narrator

haunts him, and he slowly crumbles over the weight of his own ego, admitting to his crime. The
conclusion of the story is fitting because it shows the dynamism of Poe s writing. His narrative
voice accomplishes developing most the story due to how significant of a role the narrator plays. It

Living conditions and sanitation and refugee camps are the main problems that almost every
refugee camp has to go through. There are so many refugees and so little supplies, workers, and
living space so it makes it very hard for camps to try to have enough supplies and keep their
camps clean. A refugee camp is a temporary home to help people to get back on their feet, but
these camps are having so many problems that they are making it harder for refugees to get back
on their feet. The camp s main problem is lack of sanitation, people are coming to these camps
and getting sick because the camps are so dirty. The next main issue is a lack of supplies, people
are coming to these camps in need of water, food, and living space and some of these camps can
not even provide these new campers with the supplies because they already have so many people
that they have to provide for. The current situation is unacceptable, as the Syrian war, lack of

Violent Video Games Cause Violent Crime
The most frequently asked question in recent years is, do violent video games lead to violent
crime? Most people would think that the answer is a simple yes or no answer, but it s not. This
type of correlation is not all black and white; there is a lot of misconception and misunderstanding
about it. In this paper, I will be discussing the history of violent video games. I will include
scientific studies done on violent video games. I will include various crimecases involving video
games. I will discuss the effects of violent video games. Lastly, I will give possible solutions to
prevent violent crimefrom happening. There is a lot of history when it comes to video games and
violent video games, but the earliest violent video games have been around since the 1970s. In
1976, Death Race was the first video game criticized for its violence. The goal of this game was to
run over human like creatures known as gremlins that made an unrealistic human screaming
sound when struck. Since the 1970s, everything has gone downhill. In the 1980s, beloved games
we know today like Pac Man and Super Mario Bros faced criticism for their cartoon violence.
This is because of Pac Man killing the ghosts and Mario attacking various enemies to achieve his
goal to get to the next level. One of the first graphic violent video games is Mortal Kombat; this
game is a one on one fighting game where realistic human characters usually fight to the death.

What Were The Mayans Greatest Achievements
What Was The Mayan Culture s Greatest Achievement? Two buckets of salt for only one

The Maya was a group of people who lived in Mesoamerica. They hunted and grew crops using
slash and burn agriculture. The Maya accomplished many things, so over the years there has been a
debate over what was their most remarkable achievement. However, there really isn t much of a
contest when you consider trade. The Mayan culture s most remarkable achievement was their trade
route because of its size, the physical effort required to make it work, and its significance. The trade
route that the Maya maintained was enormous. It stretched from the Yucatan Peninsula to Guatemala

Spanish American Imperialism Essay
Some people say america was the land of freedom
I feel that the american imperialism had a negative effect on the natives In the Spanish American
War of 1898 the United States seized the Spanish colonies in the Caribbean and the Pacific,
emerging for the first time as a world power.* As in Cuba, Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines
had given rise to a national liberation struggle. Immediately after the U.S. naval bombardment of
Manila on May 1, 1898, in which the Spanish fleet was destroyed, Admiral Dewey sent a gunboat
to fetch the exiled Filipino revolutionary leader Emilio Aguinaldo from Hong Kong. The United
States wanted Aguinaldo to lead a renewed revolt against Spain to prosecute the war before U.S.

The Scaled Quail By Rebecca Robertson
The Scaled Quail
By Rebecca Robertson
3/2/17
Appearance:
This bird has a striking appearance of a series of round feathers that adorn the bird s body, giving
it the illusion of having scales. Their legs are built to run and evade predators, as the grasslands
themselves are open with not a lot of trees or logs to hide. Their wingspan averages 14 15 inches.
Classified Name: Callipepla squamata
Other Names: This bird is found in several other states such as Texas, Kansas, and New Mexico to
name a few. Therefore, this bird goes by other names as well, with popular ones such as cotton top

They will primarily eat seeds and plants, so they affect the amount of seeds in the area. If they
were to decrease in size, the number of insects and grain would rise. Because they are prey, they
must take advantage of the tall grasses to hide from predators such as raccoons, coyotes, foxes, and
even other birds of prey that include some eagles and falcons.
Consumer Type:
Scaled Quails largely live off of seeds and plants such as roots and weeds. They also eat lots of
seeds and some grains. With their diet of both plants and insects, they are an omnivore. They are a
forager for greens (grasses, roots and weeds) as it supports them.
Range:
This type of quail likes desert like environments, so they take to the states of Kansas, Oklahoma,
Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, states all known for their grasslands and dry climates.
Types of Symbiotic Relationships
Service Mutualism: The scaled quail has many relationships, ranging from it s diet to
environment. The scaled quail will take the seeds and other plants it finds to survive. In turn, the
bird will help spread the seeds, allowing opportunity for new growth for the plant. Overall, this in
itself is a mutualistic relationship, as the birds gets a means of food and helps the plant by
spreading its seeds. Since it helps the plant transport it s seeds, it belongs in the category of service
mutualism. The scaled quail will use any available cover it runs across. Thus, a

The Enhanced
Screening Process
1. What is the enhanced screening process ?
Since October 2012 an enhanced screening process has been applied to all unauthorised maritime
arrivals from Sri Lanka to identify whether they are raising claims that engage Australia s non
refoulement obligations.
Australia s non refoulement obligations prohibit the removal of anyone from
Australia to a country where they are in danger of death, torture or other mistreatment, including
arbitrary detention.1
Under the enhanced screening process an individual is interviewed by two officers from the
Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).

Camouflage Techniques Blending In or Standing Out Sometimes You Do Both A previous

standing out in a crowd is not always a bad thing even if you want to become the Gray Man, for
example. First, let s be clear the Gray Man is not gender specific, it is simply a name given to a
concept, or a way of conducting yourself if you will, and not to a specific gender. Male or females
can, of course, adapt some of the techniques to become invisible or to stand out as the case may

The Horus Statue of Nectanebo II and the Human-headed...
The Horus Statue of Nectanebo II and the Human headed winged lion, also known as the Lamassu,
are two pieces of art that are very different yet similar with each other in composition,
representation, function, and style. Although they were created at two different points in history,
the artists thought about and created the two art works in similar fashion.
The work of art from the Egyptian period is a statue representing the god of war, the sun, and
rulers, Horus. It was created in the time frame from three hundred sixty to three hundred forty two

The falcon figure was highly worshipped, and the animal was called the lord of the two lands,
Upper and Lower Egypt. Like the lamassu, Horus wears a hat which symbolizes those two
regions of Egypt. The cobra emblem on the hat represents royalty because it is also associated
with the pharaoh. The lamassu creature is not a god but wears a hat and belt which are symbols
of divinity. It makes the statue god like in nature but does not represent a god in way the falcon
does. The head of the statue was made to be a human s representing humans intelligence. These
works show that the artists were interested in animal anatomy. Although its body is made up of the
parts of animals, the human headed winged lion is far from being a natural creature. The statue of
Horus is a much better example of the natural animal world because of the fine skill put into
carving its anatomy.
The natures and composition of the statues can explain for their differences in size and function.
The artist of the Horus statue carved it to be realistic and natural looking, unlike the lamassu.
The work was carefully carved from the material greywacke, which is hard and dark sandstone.
The statue was carved out of the stone without backing like most early art. One is able to view all
sides of the falcon by walking around the piece. The lamassu figure was carved from the material
alabaster and was made to be unnatural with five

Essay On Elbow Pain
Elbow Pain
Elbow pain, also known as tennis elbow, or Lateral Epicondylitis is a painful muscle condition in
the elbow/forearm region caused by overuse. Tennis elbow is triggered by an inflammation or
swelling in the muscles that connect along the outside of the forearm to elbow area. Activities that
include much use of the forearm and elbow region, such as: tennis, carpentry, as well as a variety
of other exercises and labours, can cause tennis elbow.
Symptoms of Tennis Elbow
Common symptoms of tennis elbow include, but are not limited to:
Outer elbow and/or forearm pain,
Decreased and/or painful grip strength and
Pain when lifting palm downwards
Pain in the outer elbow range commonly begins in a patient s primarily dominant hand. The pain
begins subtly as a tenderness and/or soreness, and escalates to pain doing everyday chores. Lifting
a common milk jug, or turning the ignition key in one s automobile may become a painful task as

Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid
The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function
normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or
basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated
as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated
by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile
acids.
When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different
buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer,
protein buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent

The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs
and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of
carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third
defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs).
The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These
two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly
by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more
slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as
compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing
the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by
producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and
intracellular,

Stereotypes In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood, a book written by Truman Capote, details about a murder case in 1959 in Holcomb.
The four victims in this book where apart of the Christian church which in their community, which
was very ethnically diverse, Christianity was the most popular religion.
In the book we see that Christianity was more than just a religion, it was their way of living. The
villagers went by Gods words and they would socialize in the church. We also notice that in the
book Capote creates the following stereotype: good people are believers of the lord and bad people
are followers of Satan or are lost.
The way that he creates this is by using the following non believers of the lord characters to
represent this stereotype: Perry and Dick. Perry in the story reveals to have homosexual
tendencies, which in Christianity homosexuality is a sin, and Dick represents the seven deadly
sins. Dick desires money, sex, and power while Perry only desires to be loved and to get an
education. In the story it is revealed that Perry at one point was catholic but because of the abuse

Drinking Age Essay
Drinking Age When teen agers turn 18, they are told that they are adults and are sent into the
world. They go to college, get a job, marry or join the military. They do grown up things like
vote, pay taxes and become parents. But they can t go to the pub for a beer because when it
comes to liquor, they are still just kids. Where s the fairness in the 21 and older drinking law?
First, it is necessary to question this law. Why is 21 the magical age that makes one intelligent and
mature enough to consume alcohol? Surely, some adults abuse alcohol and some teenagers would
be perfectly able to drink responsibly. This seemingly arbitrary number is associated with
adulthood, as if the day a person turns 21 they know everything and... Show more content on

When they have the opportunity to drink, they do so in an irresponsible manner because
drinking by these youth is seen as a badge of rebellion against authority and a symbol of
adulthood. Clearly, this kind of devious attitude does not encourage responsible drinking. While
young people in foreign countries learn to regard moderate drinking as an enjoyable social
activity, young Americans view it as something they have to sneak around to do. If 18 year olds
do not have legal access to even a beer in a public place, they are ill equipped to deal with the
responsibilities that come with drinking when they do have the right. The drinking age should
be lowered because the current age has no real basis. With a lowered drinking age, fewer
problems will be present. Safe drinking needs to be taught, along with drinking in moderation.
All of the arguments for having a raised drinking level or retaining the current one are weak. The
problems that make a drinking age limit necessary are better solved through a lowered drinking
level. Tightening the laws on underage drinking is wrong, as laws will still be broken and
people 20 years, 364 days and younger will continue to consume alcohol. The answer to the
problem of underage drinking is not to add more restrictions, rather, it is simple: get rid of the
underage part. With the thrill of breaking the law gone and the access to the bar granted, people,

Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Alan Moore
Watchmen by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons utilizes the literary tool of symbols.
Symbols such as the smiley pin, clocks, and the haunting who watches the watchmen graffiti all
come up several times in the graphic novel, thus alluding to a deeper meaning. Time is a major
theme throughout the comic and plays a significant part in the structure and outcome of the story.
This theme is successfully coupled to the theme of destiny by the use of the clock and other
symbols that are present throughout the comic. Symbols such as clocks, the smiley pin, and the
graffiti are utilized to efficiently connect the themes of time, justice and loss of innocence
throughout Watchmen. The clocks in Watchmen are used to foreshadow the future events in the
novel and connect the theme of morality to the theme of time. Other than the literal connection
between calling themselves Watchmen and actual watches, clocks and time in general play a huge
part in the arc of the comic s storyline. Doctor Manhattan s father was a watchmaker before learning
that time is relevant and therefore useless. Jon himself finds this out through his own experience
with time and seeing back and forth through it. This is particularly important because the whole
reason he became a superhero is because of a watch:

Copper Iron Stoichiometry Lab Report Essay
Copper Iron Stoichiometry
Lab Report
10/3/12
Abstract:
The lab performed required the use of quantitative and analytical analysis along with limiting
reagent analysis. The reaction of Copper (II) Sulfate, CuSO4, mass of 7.0015g with 2.0095g Fe or

Through this the appropriate reaction had to be determined out of the two possibilities. Through the
use of a vacuum filtration system the mass of Cu was found to be 2.1726g which meant that
through limiting reagent analysis Fe was determined to be the limiting reagent and the chemical

client surveys. The second performance measure I would use would be responsive
communication. This measures satisfaction surveys retention, absenteeism, and vacancy

examples are percent of loyal associates, percent of RN positions are vacant, and tenure of
associates. The concept of this is associate satisfaction, retention, and complaints. In order to
provide excellent care, we will need to know what the staff is feeling. Happy employees mean
better performance which equals better patient care. For the third measure, I would focus on
corporate design. Corporate design measures market share, efficacy of care, per capita cost of
care, improvements unmet or delayed and variation in internal performance. The concept behind
this measure is to find the extent of service, uniformity of performance, and competitor relations.
Surveys are a big part of obtaining all this information and provide a great deal of knowledge on

Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay
Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services

information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location privacy preserving methods
are designed to provide a specified level of privacy based on some pre defined privacy
guarantees such as k anonymity and e differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users
would need different privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated
with the users of the exposed location data. For instance, users of a location based social network

Does Racism Still Exist
While it is true that we as a society have come a long way since slavery there is no doubt that
racism still exists, affecting both certain individuals and the wider community. Surely, more and
more people are being informed about the consequences and issues of modern day racism, and
although there has been a decrease in reported hate crimes toward people of color since 2013
according to the FBI, the question still stands is everyone a racist deep down?
One could argue that evolution plays a big part in this, considering that thousands of years ago, our
ancestors had to stick with a familiar group of humans and work together for a better chance at
survival. Evolutionary racism refers to Charles Darwin s evolutionary theory, which assumes that
with species continually evolving, similarly, some races have evolved further than others, therefore
causing racism to have grown deeply rooted in our genetics. ... Show more content on

Junior Year Analysis
This year was one that helped me figure out my strengths academically. As the year progressed I
noticed writing flowed easier for me than math did. For me it has always been that way. English
has been my strong point since elementary, but this year it was evident. I struggled with the
content that math analysis consists of. It was hard for me to understand how one number could
just suddenly turn into something else and how so many symbols were needed. It was confusing.
My goal this year was to understand the kind of person I want to become as I reach adulthood.
Junior year was a year full of realizations and it helped put into perspective how important our
actions are now. How our grades do affect us because it can alter what schools we are

To Kill A Mockingbird Education Quotes
READIN and WRITIN in MAYCOMB
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela.
Education is a necessity to living and to how you do things in general. Without education you
wouldn t know to talk, write, comprehend and spell words. Education changed everything, just
think about it, if you were going to pick up a book and read, how would you know what those
words meant, and what they sounded like? education. Education is the most powerful weapon that
you can use to change the world. So in Maycomb, Alabama you have the families of the Finches,
Cunninghams, Ewells, and the Black community and this is their education.
The Finches family is well educated, Scout and Jem s dad (Atticus) is an attorney ... Show more

The son Burris Ewell is unmannered and isn t afraid to cuss to the teacher. The neighborhood that
they live in is part of the black community. Mayella Ewell the sister to Burris and the daughter to

When Atticus whom is representing Tom Robinson that was just her dad Bob that beat her up. The
Ewells seem to not really have an interest in school, learning, getting education, etc. Burris s odd
recurrence of school is going for the first day of the year and never come back again to school.
Burris has had to repeat first grade three times and is a 10 year old in a room filled with 6 years
olds. The black community take care of them as much as they can, trying to go to school, helping
their families out and doing as much to help others than just helping themselves out. They find jobs

Seventy Year Old Minister Essay
My paper is based on the fact that a bomb has been dropped on a city and only ten people have
made it into the bomb shelter. While they are in there they discover that there is only enough
food for seven of them so three of them will have to go. I am speaking in the character of the
armed policemen and I have chosen to take out the Female Vocalist, The Famous Writer, and the
Seventy year old minister. I have chose them for certain reasons that I will explain in the next
couple of paragraphs. The reason I took out the Seventy year old minister is for one he is
Seventy and the life expectancy for a man is Seventy Five so therefore he can go because he will
not be able to help repopulate for long. But he is a Godly man so it would be good to keep him
for the fact that he may teach the future generation for a year or two but I am not to sure they
would understand the word of God that fast. This man also is possibly your weakest link so if
you got into a situation he may not be helpful so that is another reason why I would take him out.
The basics to the minister are he has lived his life, he is old, he is weak, and there is nothing he
can really help with.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I chose to take her out because she really does no good to the shelter. All her singing would really
get on my nerves and I do not know that I could deal with that. Also her defense was that she
could sing to the newborns but kids do not care who is singing to them as long as they are
singing. The only thing I can think of that she is good for is she could help repopulate the world.
Also some singers have to have something to drink every time they sing and there is not enough
supplies for her to have something to drink after every time that she sings. This is why I would

Vaccinations Should Not Be A Medical Exemption From...
Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the bounds of our
right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for our children? Or, is it safe
and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly diseases? Are those who choose not to
vaccinate themselves or their children putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should
the line, if any, be drawn? Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations?
How safe and effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the
issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S. states offer a
medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could be exempt from receiving
one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For example, those who have compromised
or weakened immune systems should be able to get a medical exemption. These exemptions
require permission from a medical physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the
mainstream medical community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of
exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California, West Virginia,
and Mississippi do not offer either of these. They are medical exemption states only. Of the
remaining states, 32 of them offer medical and religious exemptions. Only the remaining 18 states
offer all three exemptions. These numbers are decreasing as more and

The Shocking Ideas of Kate Chopin s The Awakening
The Shocking Ideas of The Awakening Ideas that resist existing social boundaries commonly are
rejected at first, because people don t want to wake up from their reliable lives. Kate Chopin,
however, believed that an awakening was in order, and she attempted to open the eyes of
society through her novel The Awakening. The public s reaction to Chopin s novel was not one
of acceptance. Too strong a drink for moral babies, and should be labeled poison, was the how
the Republic described Chopin s work (Seyersted 174). This is how society viewed a novel that is
intended to give people insight into the minds and feelings of women as human beings. Of course,
over the years, society grew to not only accept Chopin s ideas, but to embrace... Show more content

Chopin translated eight of his works and through him developed her style of writing. She shared
his concept of a hero : An isolated world weary and misanthropic hero who revels in his own
sensuality; who trusts in nature and distrusts human relationships, especially love; who
experiences a sense of liberation through solitary walks and confidences in his writing... and who
is strongly drawn to death as a solution to the repetitive meaninglessness of life s pleasures.
(Taylor 160) This was the basic outline for the plot of The Awakening. The book starts with
Edna, a New Orleans high society wife and mother who was miserable with her life. While
spending the summer in Grand Isle, Edna meets Mademoiselle Reiz whose music is the only
thing in which Edna finds happiness. Through the music Edna awakens to the fact that she has
the right to be happy. Finding Edna s behavior unusual, her husband Mr. Pontellier takes the
advice of a friend and leaves on a long business trip, giving Edna her space. On the isle she also
meets Robert Lebrun who awakens her to a passion Mr. Pontellier could never give her. During
the summer they fall deeply in love but Robert is scared of being condemned by society and flees
to Mexico.(Bloom 11). After Robert leaves, Edna meets Alcee Arobin. Hopeful that Alcee will be
like Robert, she takes him into her home. Once there Alcee becomes as controlling as Mr. Pontellier.

Therapeutic Psychology
Assignment 01 due 15 April 15 Multiple Choice questions
In the article by Gadd and Phipps (2012), they refer to the challenges faced by psychological and,
specifically, neuropsychological assessment. Their study focused on a preliminary standardisation
of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (a non verbal measure) for Setswana speaking university
students. The US normative sample is described as participants (N = 899) aged 18 to 29 years
who were screened beforehand to exclude individuals with a history of neurological, learning,
emotional and attention difficulties. The South African sample consisted of university students (N

(1) the test is internally consistent
(2) the test is stable over time
(3) the error due to chance factors is unacceptable
(4) the type of reliability is not appropriate for this type of test

Evaluation Of A Student Nurse
As I am getting closer to the end of the practicum, I can see myself on the floor, daily, with my
fellow RN s. I feel as I am part of the team then simply a student nurse. At the beginning of my
student nursing career, I felt that were so many limitations, but then, slowly, these perceived
restrictions were removed. There are still things that I am not allowed to do, but now I do not
have to ask the nurse if I can do a head to toe on the patient. I walk in the room and perform
assessment of vital signs without the nurse guiding me. I would check in first with my preceptor
if there is someone or something I should not do, but most of the time I am clear to do so. Since I
have been working with my preceptor for five weeks, we have gotten to... Show more content on

I did not want anyone to think that I am not a team player. I never think any job is too small for
me, because one day I would need someone else s help on the job anywhere I work. If there was
a reason why I was not able do the tasks I would communicate with staff, but I have not done so
far. When a client needed to be placed on a bedpan or required a change and the tech was busy, I
would jump in and help out. I decided that I would take charge of the situation without being
told. When I was done helping with ADL s of the clients, I also thought when the following pain
medication is due and communicated with the client when it was due. It seemed to help when
they know that two people are on top of the medication schedule. Communication with each
patient is important in the nursing process. When one does not give information to the patient,
anxiety levels have the potential to increase. Even if one does not know the answer to a certain
question, with just a simple acknowledgement with the patient, the two way communication can
go a long way. Weaknesses My weaknesses would be a skill of inserting IV s into patients. I
have done a few, but I feel as my skills needed continual fine tuning. I know what had to do next
time I am on the floor. I need to ask any nurse if they have to insert an IV to let me try first. The
fear of doing such a task is starting to dissipate when I approach the client. My

  • 2. Disparity Between Passion of the Christ and the Bible Essay The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most anticipated and popular religious movies in modern society, it therefore becomes susceptible to criticism. Although the film is based upon the stories within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many exaggerations and non biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a movie, but the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the most publicly criticized themes and concepts present in the movie. The Passion emphasizes the brutality Jesusendured to give himself for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of independence, but the high priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy or respect. Even at the voice of the governor Pontius Pilate, who several times mentions that he doesn t find any guilt or reason to persecute Jesus, the people still wish for his crucifixion. The movie did not really make sense of the motivation of the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore, according to the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain why the Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are adamantly screaming for his death, but the gospels do not explain it. The appearance of Satan within several important scenes of the movie is also something that is not found within the Bible. Satan appears ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perhaps everyone is truly composed of multiple personalities embodied within one whole. Whether these split personalities are actual or purely metaphorical, no one human being has a single sided mind, and a single sided position on everything. Within the brain many battles are raged between opposing sides of issues, between the personalities. • 7. The Negative Impacts Of Food Inseecurity Introduction Millions of people every day do not know when they are going to eat their next meal. This brings upon great stress to households as finding their next meal becomes the priority. The United States defines this shortage of food in households as food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has defined food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life (Coleman Jensen, Rabbitt, Gregory, Singh, 2017). Households that are food insecure will often skip meals, eat low nutritious dense food, and face high stress levels of making food last until they are able to buy more food for their home. Food insecurity is a serious issue that is consistently overlooked and it needs more attention because it has a negative impact on the families. Literature Review Food insecurity affects every community in the United States. About 12.3% of U.S. households were considered food insecure in 2016 (United States Department of Agriculture 2017). This number has not changed much from the 12.7% it was in 2015. Food insecurity can affect anyone, but certain groups are more vulnerable to this issue. For instance, low income households, the elderly, children, and immigrants are at highest risk to be food insecure. In particular, it is households with children that are most affected by food insecurity. The rate for these households was higher than the national average at 16.5% for the year 2016 (United States Department of Agriculture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Examples Of Righteousness In The Crucible Over the course of history, the idea of righteousness has clouded people s thinking, leading to cruel and unnecessary forms of punishment. Arthur Miller s The Crucible significantly illustrates human cruelty in the name of righteousness. Inspired by the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s, Miller s play, The Crucible, focuses on the inconsistencies of the Salem witch trials and the extreme behavior that can result from dark desires and hidden agendas. Miller bases the play on the historical account of the Salem witch trials, a series of hearings before local magistrates followed by trials to prosecute people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts, between February 1692 and May 1693. A modern day example that can be recognizably compared to the Salem witch trials is racial profiling that manifested in the 1700s. Racial profiling is the use of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or national origin by law enforcement agents as a factor in deciding whom to investigate, arrest, or detain with no evidence of a specific crime or criminal behavior. Throughout the play, there are numerous instances of human cruelty in the name of righteousness that outline the basis of the Salem witch trials and racial profiling in today s society. Or are humans something else, a soul perhaps? This has been debated for centuries by great philosophers, and one of them is John Locke. Narrative Voice In The Tell-Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe The mark of a skilled writer is shown in their individuality, crafting a narrative voice that becomes recognizable and, therefore, respected. The narrative voice of the story encompasses the author s writing style, what techniques they use, and how their presentation of the story overall strengthens the story. When writing, nearly each element from the characters to the setting s influence needs some level of consideration on how it will play into the story. If there is a lack of nuance in the writing, or if major aspects of the story are not fully established, it will fail to communicate the author s themes to the audience in an effective way. In classic poetry and literature, Edgar Allan Poe remains one of the most iconic writers. His works are known for their melancholy and macabre narratives, often grotesque imagery, and how each explores thought provoking themes in intense ways; all of which are attributed to Poe s gothic narrativevoice. • 28. Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile acids. When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer, protein buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs). The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and intracellular, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The four victims in this book where apart of the Christian church which in their community, which was very ethnically diverse, Christianity was the most popular religion. In the book we see that Christianity was more than just a religion, it was their way of living. The villagers went by Gods words and they would socialize in the church. We also notice that in the book Capote creates the following stereotype: good people are believers of the lord and bad people are followers of Satan or are lost. The way that he creates this is by using the following non believers of the lord characters to represent this stereotype: Perry and Dick. Perry in the story reveals to have homosexual tendencies, which in Christianity homosexuality is a sin, and Dick represents the seven deadly sins. Dick desires money, sex, and power while Perry only desires to be loved and to get an education. They do grown up things like vote, pay taxes and become parents. But they can t go to the pub for a beer because when it comes to liquor, they are still just kids. Where s the fairness in the 21 and older drinking law? First, it is necessary to question this law. Why is 21 the magical age that makes one intelligent and mature enough to consume alcohol? Surely, some adults abuse alcohol and some teenagers would be perfectly able to drink responsibly. When they have the opportunity to drink, they do so in an irresponsible manner because drinking by these youth is seen as a badge of rebellion against authority and a symbol of adulthood. Clearly, this kind of devious attitude does not encourage responsible drinking. While young people in foreign countries learn to regard moderate drinking as an enjoyable social activity, young Americans view it as something they have to sneak around to do. If 18 year olds do not have legal access to even a beer in a public place, they are ill equipped to deal with the responsibilities that come with drinking when they do have the right. The drinking age should be lowered because the current age has no real basis. With a lowered drinking age, fewer problems will be present. Safe drinking needs to be taught, along with drinking in moderation. All of the arguments for having a raised drinking level or retaining the current one are weak. The problems that make a drinking age limit necessary are better solved through a lowered drinking level. Tightening the laws on underage drinking is wrong, as laws will still be broken and people 20 years, 364 days and younger will continue to consume alcohol. The answer to the problem of underage drinking is not to add more restrictions, rather, it is simple: get rid of the underage part. Symbols such as the smiley pin, clocks, and the haunting who watches the watchmen graffiti all come up several times in the graphic novel, thus alluding to a deeper meaning. Time is a major theme throughout the comic and plays a significant part in the structure and outcome of the story. This theme is successfully coupled to the theme of destiny by the use of the clock and other symbols that are present throughout the comic. Symbols such as clocks, the smiley pin, and the graffiti are utilized to efficiently connect the themes of time, justice and loss of innocence throughout Watchmen. The clocks in Watchmen are used to foreshadow the future events in the novel and connect the theme of morality to the theme of time. Other than the literal connection between calling themselves Watchmen and actual watches, clocks and time in general play a huge part in the arc of the comic s storyline. Doctor Manhattan s father was a watchmaker before learning that time is relevant and therefore useless. Such development may be completely self managed and applies to all students, whether or not they are already well developed. Recommended test development guidelines were closely followed, including the submission of the manual and test materials to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for test classification in 2010. Adequate reliability and validity coefficients have been obtained for this completely indigenous South African measure, and we are patiently awaiting the results of the test classification process. • 51. Evaluation Of A Student Nurse As I am getting closer to the end of the practicum, I can see myself on the floor, daily, with my fellow RN s. I feel as I am part of the team then simply a student nurse. At the beginning of my student nursing career, I felt that were so many limitations, but then, slowly, these perceived restrictions were removed. There are still things that I am not allowed to do, but now I do not have to ask the nurse if I can do a head to toe on the patient. I walk in the room and perform assessment of vital signs without the nurse guiding me. I would check in first with my preceptor if there is someone or something I should not do, but most of the time I am clear to do so. Since I have been working with my preceptor for five weeks, we have gotten to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did not want anyone to think that I am not a team player. I never think any job is too small for me, because one day I would need someone else s help on the job anywhere I work. If there was a reason why I was not able do the tasks I would communicate with staff, but I have not done so far. When a client needed to be placed on a bedpan or required a change and the tech was busy, I would jump in and help out. I decided that I would take charge of the situation without being told. When I was done helping with ADL s of the clients, I also thought when the following pain medication is due and communicated with the client when it was due. It seemed to help when they know that two people are on top of the medication schedule. Communication with each patient is important in the nursing process. When one does not give information to the patient, anxiety levels have the potential to increase. Even if one does not know the answer to a certain question, with just a simple acknowledgement with the patient, the two way communication can go a long way. Weaknesses My weaknesses would be a skill of inserting IV s into patients. I have done a few, but I feel as my skills needed continual fine tuning. I know what had to do next time I am on the floor. I need to ask any nurse if they have to insert an IV to let me try first. The fear of doing such a task is starting to dissipate when I approach the client. My ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
