What is a PowerPoint Presentation? It’s a presentation software program developed by Microsoft. It creates complex visual presentations that can be completed with audio, animation and image/video support.
What is the purpose of a PowerPoint Presentation? The purpose is to present information, but in a concise way: do not overwhelm your audience!
What are the benefits? Amplify your message Accelerate information absorption Facilitate comprehension and hence faster decision making
Visual aspects Use words or phrases rather than sentences. It’s not necessary to give too much detail. The key is to use more visuals and fewer words. That’s how you make your message memorable! Optimizing the space: display the information in an organized way instead of concentrating it on the center Simple designs are best. Try not to include more than 6 points (topics) per slide.
Text Give preference to a dark-colored text and a light-colored background. Follow a pattern – use same font on all slides. (DO NOT WRITE CAPITAL LETTERS) Use a large size (28 point or larger) and a standard font type (Arial, Times New Roman, etc.). Do not use a smaller font. Use different colors for impact. However, be careful! Colors can convey meaning. Do not use more than 3 different ones , and remember to follow a pattern.
Images They should be used only to complement your message. Do not use them for decoration!
