6. The test offers pre-recorded audio through
which you are judged how well you follow the
facts and come to terms with the topic being
spoken about. Constantly listening to audios
will help you prepare and perform better.

offers with which you can improve your
reading skills. Reading in between the
lines is a habit to be developed by the
student appearing for the test, and he /
she should refer to sample texts and
paragraphs online or in books available in
the market which are quite helpful, based
on which you need to practice the
multiple choice questions it asks.

8. Usually a referral letter is asked to be written out
or sometimes a letter of discharge. In order to
prepare for this you have to look up sample
letters on the internet or OET material available
in the market to get an idea. Your writing style
has to be objective and to the point, excessive use
of adjective is a strict no.

9. Speaking skills is tested as to how you talk and respond to your
patient. Use of English vocabulary is seen, it is noted if you have
empathy, calmness and patience with your patient. Your listening
skills are also tested, it is noted how patiently you are listening to
patient and trying to address their need.

This skill is tested to suit the needs of the
medical student and the patient, with the help
of a roleplay. The examiner takes the role of
your patient and if you are a dentist or a
nurse, the ‘patient’ will speak accordingly. It
tests skills you should be more familiar with.

10. Constant practice can help you maintain the
allotted time for each skill being tested. Time
maintenance is a must, finishing tasks within or
before the time limit will help you score more
marks.
