The Potential Of The Se Re Innovations
3. Literature Review 3.1 Potential for the SE RE innovations SE RE is a fairly new concept but many
researches proves the high potential of its development. First of all, embracing the social values is the
aim of social enterprises, including the environmental sector such as using green energy, recycling or
tracking the fuel poverty. Moreover, growing state support for developing RET and the technical
reserve of RETs (like unmanaged woodlands, garden waste going to landfill, etc.) (Kellett, 2007), are
giving SE a potential market to explore (Van der Horst, 2008). The Northern Periphery Programme
energy cluster has highlighted that social entrepreneurship has not been yet fully utilized in renewable
energy solutions (SECRE, 2013). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned in Section ‎
2.1, more constraints may appear including finance, staff, management,
marketing, legal status, etc. Many case studies state, as most investors prefer established and
commercially viable enterprises more than start ups and smaller enterprises, it is difficult to access
capital (Smith, at el., 2014). Moreover, many social enterprises cannot fund themselves entirely
through sales or investment to get a share in traditional financial markets, which resulting in a
financial social return gap (Bugg Levine, at el., 2012). The hybrid nature also brings challenges to its
management level. Except establishing and legitimating organization, managers also have to find
suitable way to committed volunteers and employers and enlarged governance structures (Borzaga, at
el., 2001). The sorry state of the non profit directors (Appendix ‎
G) is shown in the recent survey,
which is among 924 nonprofit directors carried out by Stanford researchers (HBR, 2015). Human
resources is also one of the challenges social enterprises need to face. Lack of expertise in business
planning, legal and marketing skills is one reason. Also, hard to provide competitive salaries and even
relying on staff commitment to the social mission to make up it, may lead to staff shortage (Smith, at

Feminism Vs Feminism
Femininity is a concept that relies not only upon social constructions, but upon the individualized
choices made by women themselves. Because femininity is influenced by socially defined factors,
feminists seek to break through these boundaries and to counter that the original ideas of femininity do
not accurately define a woman. On the other hand, such women still exist who believe in the latter: a
traditional household where women have the behavioral aspects of being pure and gentle, while
respectively acknowledging her responsibilities as a mother and a wife. Throughout the years, women
have remained in touch with their femininity, dating back to the Woman s Rights Movement in the
1700s. Femininity is essentially a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles, generally assigned with girls
and women. Feminism is the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.
Women today tend to lead towards wanting empowerment and feeling liberated by inducing in
activities that promote body positivity and freedom of expression. They may feel that the only way to
be validated and represented is to resort to feminism, however, many others will stick to their
representation as a traditional feminine woman because they believe there is no harm in valuing their
femininity. In a typical society, especially in the United States, most women follow traditional gender
roles. These roles set expectations for women that naturally prevail in society but others attempt to

The Evil in Fairytales
The Evil in Fairytales These stories are suffused with the same purity that makes children appear so
marvelous and blessed. Wilhelm Grimm, preface to Nursery and Household Tales Many adults are
hardly prepared for the graphic descriptions of murder, mutilation, cannibalism, infanticide, and incest
that fill the pages of these bedtime stories for children. Maria M. Tatar, The Hard Facts about the
Grimm s Fairy Tales Introduction Children all over the world listen to fairytales every night at bedtime
and hear colorful stories about evil witches, goblins, hobgoblins and other terrible creatures of the
night. Indeed, the some of the most famous fairytales by the Brothers Grimm are filled with evil
creatures that are out to do humankind harm. Moreover, many of the stories in fairytales do not
contain the watered down version of evil that is depicted by many Disney type productions in modern
media but rather describe the real thing where people can suffer and even die as a result of their
contact with the evil creatures in fairytales. Some authorities even argue that fairytales can be
disturbing for young readers, but most seem to agree that the good triumphs over evil themes in
fairytales make them timeless and appropriate for everyone. To gain some fresh insights in this area,
this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature concerning the evil
in fairytales, including examples, followed by a summary of the research and important

Hart s Account Of The Relationship Between Law And Morality
Outline and critically evaluate Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality.
Introduction:
Natural law theorists believe that all law must be morally justified if it can be legitimised as law at all.
Legal positivism means the simple contention that it is in no sense a necessary truth that laws
reproduce or satisfy certain demands of morality, though in fact they have otherwise done so. (Hart,
DATE)
In Hart s eyes, though there may be a congruence between law and morality, it is by no means a
necessary connection. (Hart, DATE)
Hart promotes the need for a clear distinction between law and morality on two levels. Firstly the
Social and hermeneutic level in regards to both law and morality sharing vocabulary in both structure
and function showing that in many societies legal rules will match their moral rules. Second a logic
and hypothetical level Hart believes in the possibility of a legal system existing without the influence
of morality as there are cases were legal systems do not match the moral grounds of society.( see
Austins command theory and the idea of one sovereign ruling all) (SOURCE)
Hart s idea is this: All one/society needs is a legal system based on the four rules.
This paper will demonstrate how Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality shows
an understanding of how they both work together yet can also work as separate entities. It will take a
specific look into the internal point of view to aid the understanding of why

The Green House Gas Effect
The Green House Gas Effect Roland Danemann 11 18 15 Americans live very lavish, and wasteful life
styles, and act as though this lifestyle is sustainable. Well it isn t. That s because it is destroying this
planet, and ruining it for every other species on the planet. It is estimated by the year 2020 the window
for turning our sinking ship around will be too late and the effects will be totally irreversible. So, how
do greenhouse gases that end up in the atmosphere affect the climate? The main human created
greenhouse gases are CO2, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases. The effects of CO2,
methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases, a part of the greenhouse effect, are destroying the

CH4, or methane, is the second most common GHG. Making up 10% of all GHG, CH4 is the product
of livestock flatulation, coal, natural gas, and oil production as well as the decaying of organic waste
and off gassing of municipal solid landfills. N2O, or nitrous oxide, is the third out of four most
common GHG. Making up 5% of all GHG, N2O is the product of the combustion of solid waste and
fossil fuels (Kobayashi). Fluorinated gases are hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
and sulphur hexafluoride. These are powerful GHG that come from numerous industrial processes
making up 3% of GHG overall (Glick). How these gases contribute to the greenhouse effect over time,
is a another matter. CO2, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases contribute to the greenhouse
effect and are helping to destroy the environment. Since 1990 GHG levels worldwide have increased
by 6% (kobayashi). In the US, the biggest contributor to GHG levels is the burning of fossil fuels.
Over the past century, sea levels have been rising from atmospheric temperature increase (Glick). Sea
levels rise when ice and snow on the land, melts and drains into the ocean. If the largest ice sheets in
the world, (located in Greenland and Antarctica) melt, it would raise levels by 75 meters (246.06 ft)

The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner Analysis
War Does Evil
A Discussion of Three Messages From Randall Jarrell s Gunner There was not a point in this world s
history when war was more prevalent, than that of World War Two. During this time, millions of
innocent lives were slain, and millions of soldiers died fighting, but were replaced almost instantly.
War completely manipulates the human mind, allowing it to commit actions no mind would ever think
to conceive otherwise. War takes over the will of humanity, and brings out the ferocity that all humans
have boiled down inside them. For example, journalist Roy Bing Chan recites, On one hand, war s
violence gives witness to a world consuming itself as it lurches ever more closely to oblivion... As
Chan states, war allows the world to cave in and consume itself, and each day of fighting leads closer
to oblivion. The short story The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner by Randall Jarrell is a perfect
representation of the monstrosity called war. Jarrell was an influential and gifted writer who lived
during WWII. One of his most famous pieces of writing, Gunner, lurched the hearts of countless
people around the country as they were able to get a brief feeling of what it meant to be an aircraft
gunner during this time. Within this minute work of literature, are deep meanings waiting to be
discovered. Within Randall Jarrell s Gunner, there are three messages that can be derived. Within
Gunner, it is obvious that war was very unpleasant for the people fighting it. In the

The Negative Effects Of Parental Abandonment Of Children
Parental abandonment of a child can have long term psychological issues they will suffer from
including obsessive thinking, critical thoughts about the abandonment, and self blame. Child
abandonment is when a parent, guardian, or any person taking care of the child or deserts the child
without any regard to the child s physical health, safety, or welfare. From the ages from an infant to 18
years old, that s when child abandonment takes place. It is the rule of nature for every child to be
brought up by two parents. The effect of child abandonment can be felt throughout the child growth as
the child displays different characteristics from those who have had the privilege of being brought up
by two parents. Parents are the source of joy to most children and a source of pride too. Parental
abandonment has been proven to have adverse negative effects on the life of a child as this research
paper will highlight.
One of the effects parental abandonment is the child living with the fear of being abandoned. Such a
child will avoid relationships in the fear that they may not always work as they always feel in denial.
This factor affects their life and as a result will lead to other effects as the child will always be
stressed. The stress leads to depression overall. The effects of depression are poor performance; this
factor of poor performance is displayed in their academic life where in most cases the child will be
continuously recording poor grades even when the best learning

A Great Christmas Time Comedy Analysis
NON is a great Christmas time comedy whose adventured takes us on an unexpectedly crazy theme

development, while not missing a moment to make the audience laugh. Characters are very well
presented to keep viewers from anticipating the plot, however as I will discuss later, this is the most
pivotal point of the development of such as story. Dialogue in this is one of the most unexpected
points, as the vulgarity allows the plot to appeal to many viewers, and escape the more traditional
overly happy Christmas time project. The structure follows a smooth transition in the acts, yet I think

Inthe process they ignore their health. They do not take care in eating food at the right time. In the
process of gathering more wealth, they also undergo a lot of stress.
So many people spend their health in gaining wealth and then spend their wealth to regain their health.
Money can buy a tonic but not health, we have to do a number of things to maintain our health . Now
because of lack of exercises and proper food and stress the wealth may increase but health begins to
suffer. It has been proved that overwork without care for health leads to a number of diseases. Disease
like stomach ulcer, obesity are due to bad eating habits. Lack of exercises and stress leads to high
cholesterol, Blood pressure and heart problems. So it is better to take care of your health.
If we have health, we probably will be happy and if we have both health and happiness we have all the
wealth we need. Health and intellect are two blessings of life. Happiness lies first of all in health.
Mahatma gandhi says that it is health that is the real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.
Taking care of one s health should be a continuous process. We should follow a routine of exercises
and proper food. It is said that exercise if persued continuously help us to gain strength. We should
also follow a diet that is beneficial for our health. Going on diet does not mean limiting your food. We
should aim at improving the quality of our food intake.

The, The Fire, And The Rope
By far Dana showed the most relevance to the novel. She impacted on Rufus s decisions and made
him think for himself. Dana is an African American woman in her late 20 s teleporting back in time
during the antebellum to her old ancestors, which later she discovers about, and also is considered a
slave. Dana has connected to every character throughout the novel. Rufus, Sarah, Alice and many
more. Throughout her journey to Maryland during the 1700 s and 1800 s she learned many things, like
believing only in herself. To begin with, Rufus s life depended on Dana, since she was the only one
who knew how to help him every time he got into a problem. The novel s chapters correlate with
every situation Rufus got into; the river, the fire, the fall, the fight, the storm, and the rope. The reason
Dana saves Rufus s life is because later on she discovers that he is her great, great ancestor whom she
had to save, to save herself. This shows the relevance of her presence there, not only she cared for
Rufus, but also considered herself as the one who supposed to help him. Another example that shows
Dana s relevance in the novel is by helping other slaves. For example, Alice, after the fight between
Isaac and Rufus because of Rufus s attempt to rape Alice who apparently was Isaac s wife. The reason
this shows her relevance to the novel because once again, she saves Rufus from being killed by Isaac

who suffer from breast cancer not only are fighting cancer but are also fighting the psychological
aspects of the disease. Breast Cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer among women in the United
States right behind skin cancer. Women are now surviving breast cancer a lot more frequently because
of the treatments out there to help. In 2008, the number of breast cancer survivors was 2.5 million
(Breast Cancer, 2010). The numbers of survivors is an increasing state because the research and

The physician may order a mammogram or ultra sound. Women are recommended to have yearly
mammograms after the age 40, but earlier if breast cancer runs in the family (National Cancer
Institute). A mammogram detects lumps in the breast and is an x ray picture of tissues inside a person
s breast. It may detect a lump before it is even felt by someone. A ultrasound also is a test that can
show details of the breast lump and its sound waves creates pictures showing if the lump is solid,
filled with fluid or a little of both. When it shows a sign of a more solid lump it is greater risk of
cancer (National Cancer Institute). Once a breast lump is detected and shows signs of being cancerous
the lump is then removed or biopsied. Biopsy is a tissue removal which is looking for cancerous cells.
There are several different types of biopsies, but is the true way to tell if these cells in the breast are
cancerous. These different types of biopsies are fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, skin biopsy or
surgical biopsy. After the tissue is removed then they can send it to the lab to determine if a person has
cancer or not (National Cancer Institute). The lump will then be considered either benign or
malignant. Benign is good meaning no cancer present, but malignant means that there is cancer
present in the tumor. After determining that a person has breast cancer it must then be staged.

Participatory Modes
What is a documentary? The technical term is utilizing pictures or interviews with people involved in
real events to provide a factual record on a particular unique subject. In other words, it is a programme
that provides a reputable document on a detailed subject. One influential person on documentaries is
Bill Nichols who is a film critic and theorist known for his pioneering work in documentary, he
compared film theory to that of documentaries for the first time and that even though they are made
with different purposes in mind that does not separate them. Documentaries or film have conventions

affected by so many different processes and techniques for example the camera and editing to enhance
it and so it accepts it and may also make these matters recognized to the viewers with the aid of

Analysis Of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is a classic piece of children s fantasy literature that was
published by the English author C.S. Lewis in 1950. It vividly portrays the fictitious lives of four
young siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy during the time period of World War II. The reader
travels along with the siblings, as they discover the magical land of Narnia that extends beyond an
enormous wardrobe. The children within the story develop as a result of their experience within
Narnia, and ultimately grow as individuals based on the struggles they face. The reader travels along
with them while contemplating issues of good versus evil, problem solving, moral reasoning and
identity development. A literary element from this text that helps shine multiple lights onto the same
story, is the third person omniscient narrative. Within the novel, the narrator makes extensive use of
the omniscience. Through the eyes of a child: An introduction to children s literature notes that when
writing from the omniscient point of view, the author is not restricted to the knowledge, experiences,
and feelings of one person; the feelings and thoughts of all characters can be revealed. (Norton, 98).
Specific to this novel, the reader is sometimes receiving messages and focusing exclusively from
Lucy, such as when she made her first trip into the wardrobe. Lucy felt a little frightened, but she felt
very inquisitive and excited as well. She looked back over her shoulder and there,

Jamaica Kincaid s Essay A Small Place
In Jamaica Kincaid s essay, A Small Place , she is acknowledges how the Antiguans hurts themselves,
as they fail to see the pathetic irony that exists within their country. According to Kincaid, the
Antiguans see slavery as a time in which a bunch of ships dropped off slaves, the ancestors of the
Antiguans, to work under brutal conditions for many years. Then, as though it were magic, all of a
sudden the day of emancipation arrives, in the eyes of the ignorant Antiguans, and all the slaves are
freed. As Kincaid notes, the Antiguans speak of emancipation as if it were yesterday and as if slavery
was a recent occurrence to their peoples, when, in actuality, the slaves were freed roughly one hundred
fifty years ago. However, at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the passage in which Kincaid describes the lack of awareness Antiguans have regarding their
relationship with slavery, emancipation, and ignorance, Kincaid uses parallel structure and repetition.
In describing the misconception the current Antiguans have about slavery, which something none of
the current Antiguans have experienced firsthand, Kincaid uses parallel structure in the form of a triad
to show the textbook view that the Antiguans have regarding slavery. Kincaid, as she states how the
Antiguans describe slaves, writes: they were beaten, they were murdered, they were sold . (Kincaid
54) Because, within the descriptions, only standard words are used to describe slavery in bland, three
worded clauses, the existing lack of connection the current Antiguans have towards slavery is shown,
as all emotional connection with slavery is removed. When describing how commonly Antiguans use
the words emancipation , even though they are detached, the word is used three times during the
course of three sentences, proving how the word has become trite amongst Antiguans. Because of the
clichéd words and phrases Kincaid uses, the ignorance that Antiguans have towards their serious
situation is

Allusions In Crime And Punishment
Crime and Punishment, written by Fyodor Dostoevsky, is a novel about the actions of a man, his
punishment, and his eventual redemption. Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, (Raski), is a man with
many flaws. By the end of part one, he had already murdered two women, a pawnbroker, and her
friend. This act is very important for it sets the tone for the rest of the plot. The majority of
Dostoevsky s book is about the suffering Raskolnikov endures and how, through his pain, Raski is
able to achieve redemption. Among Dostoevsky s use of many techniques, his use of literary motifs,
and Christian allusions help to convey the importance of religion in redemption.
One major motif used by Dostoevsky was water. Historically, this has represented the purification of
sins and is a motif that is generally based in a religious way. Crime and Punishment exemplifies the
idea of water as a purifying substance, almost a sort of baptism. Water becomes important to note in
Part 2, specifically chapter 6. In this chapter, Raskolnikov witnesses a woman s attempt to take her life
by jumping off of a bridge and drowning in the water. She is eventually saved and Raskolnikov starts
thinking about suicide in the same way. It was disgusting to him. No, it s vile . . . the water . . . better
not (170). This thought shows Raskolnikov considering plunging himself into the river in response to
his crime. He is so caught up in the murder and the investigation that he considers ending his life.

Monoamine Theory
Monoamines are neurotransmitters that include serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.
Numerous antidepressant drugs increase synaptic levels of serotonin, but they also enhance the levels
of the neurotransmitters, norepinephrine and dopamine. In the body there is another monoamine called
monoamine oxidase that has the effect of breaking down serotonin and norepinephrine. Therefore, by
blocking the effect of the monoamine oxidase, there is a increase of synaptic concentrations of
monoamines and te symptoms of depression are relieved. This discovery led to the monoamine
hypothesis of depression over 30 years ago, which proposes that the underlying biological basis for
depression is a deficiency of central noradrenergic and serotonergic systems and that targeting this
neuronal lesion with an antidepressant would tend to restore normal function in depressed patients. A
class of drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) have this effect. However, although
helpful to many patients, the monoamine theory of depression does t address othes issues such as why
antidepressants can treat panic disorders, OCD etc. and why enhacing monoamine concentrations isn t
always effective in treating depression. (1) (2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethical Issues In Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich was a poor, jobless, single mother with three children. In the beginning of the movie,
her car was hit by a surgeon. When she goes to court, the surgeon s lawyer accuses her lying and
trying to steal money from the wealthy doctor. The lawyer uses Erin s status as a poor, single, twice
divorced mother in order to make the jury believe that she is lying. Furthermore, the surgeon s lawyer
talks down to her because she is a woman and dresses in tight, skimpy clothing. The overarching
problem in the movie was the contamination of the water in Hinkley, California. The water was
contaminated by a substance called chromium VI by the water company, PG E. Chromium VI is
highly toxic to human beings and the company, knowing how toxic it is, dumps it into the water that
the residents use. When Erin finds out about the chromium VI in the water, she begins by bringing it
to the attention of the families who may have been affected by it.
Regarding this, Erin takes an objectivist approach, knowing that the chromium levels are too high and
could potentially (and already did) cause life threatening diseases for the people of Hinkley. The
public s reaction was not exactly what she expected. Initially, some families seem skeptical and even
uncaring about the situation, but Erin is able to connect with the residents and gain their trust and
respect. This allows for them to truly begin questioning PG E s intentions. As for Erin gaining the
Hinkley residents trust, this can

As The Advent Of The Eighteenth Century Had Came Into...
As the advent of the eighteenth century had came into reality, profound developments in the realm of
the arts began to take hold. Romanticism, as the era was known, shifted the focus from rational
viewpoints to a feel of expressing ...freedom and revolution in their art and politics (Poets). In effect,
individuality began to take root in writing, an ideal not employed during the reign of Classicalism.
William Wordsworth, one of the numerous promulgators of this era, had set the stage, writing over the
complexity and nature of the world around him. One the most notable poems of Wordsworth are
London, 1802 , which describes the decadence of Great Britain from his point of view, with notable

As a matter of personal opinion, this poem seems peculiar with its prophetic undertones. To explain, a
social divide like the one that is depicted by Wordsworth has been taking place in the United
Kingdom. Brexit , a referendum to leave the European Union that passed during the summer of 2016,
mimics the nationalistic fervor that is exhibited in the poem, especially in phrasing such as ...raise us
up, return to us again... (Meyer 703). In addition, one can infer that since older generations of voters
swayed the decision, they too have a longing for a revived golden age, much like the plea that
Wordsworth has towards the likes of John Milton, who was before Wordsworth time. Of course, this
notable poem could not only be directed to the United Kingdom, but across the world as well. Across
the many systems of governments, an ideological shift towards the right on the political spectrum has
offered growth in terms of their own nation being the first of concern, and the rest of the world
second. Such a shift tries to revive the golden age that Wordsworth has longed desired. In essence, the
poem exhibits a striking resemblance to the world s current ideological shift.
William Wordsworth, living from 1770 1850, was renowned in his establishment of Romanticism,
with most of his works being shaped by his experiences. Having commenced his education at
Hawkshead Grammar School in 1779, he found his love for poetry while discovering how to express
his delight

Major Component Of Sustainability And Its Effects On The...
Biodiversity is major component of sustainability, and it is defined as the variety of genes, organisms,
species, and ecosystems in a given area or on the planet as a whole (Miller and Spoolman 2015, 5).
Urban spaces typically lack biodiversity due to a variety of factors that cause the destruction of
ecosystems, such as replacing established ecosystems with large lawns, parking lots, buildings, and
highways. When these well established, high functioning ecosystems are disturbed, we eliminate the
variety of genes, organisms, and species that lived in that ecosystem. In doing so, we have caused
stress for the organisms that live there. For example, if we fragment an ecosystem via highway or road
expansion, at a minimum we are permanently altering the breeding and feeding relationships that
existed in that ecosystem. In terms of breeding, highway construction separates organisms of the same
species and keeps them from mating. This results in fewer genes being exchanged between organisms.
Those genes could potentially be what saves a species from extinction in the event of a disaster, such
as a forest fire or flood. In addition, highways also disrupt energy flow patterns which provide
ecosystem services like a natural form of population control. In accordance with that, the extinction of
even a single species can cause a rapid decline in a variety of organisms in that same ecosystem. This
is due to the fact that many organisms within an ecosystem have co evolved, meaning

File Sharing And The Internet Piracy
In recent years, internet piracy or file sharing of copyrighted material has gained much popularity. It is
a topic that has incessantly sparked debate and has even received global attention. Although on the
surface the act of file sharing may seem harmless, it is far from it. Each year, film and record
production companies as well as software and video game development companies suffer from
billions of dollars in lost profits. This loss comes as a direct result of internet piracy. Many agree that
file sharing is unethical and consider it to be no different than downright theft. On the other hand,
there are those that support file sharing and claim that their actions are easily justified and ethical. This
essay will provide a brief overview and history of file sharing, will consider the arguments of each
side, and will offer my personal observations and stance on the issue.
File sharing, put simply, is the process of making available and distributing files via the internet. Many
freely developed applications have been made available that simplify this process, providing the
ability to easily search for, download, and upload any piece of digital content imaginable. These
applications are commonly referred to as P2P or peer to peer applications as they allow individuals
(peers) to directly connect with other peers to share files. By themselves, such applications are useless;
a central network must be available that allows each peer to see one another. These

Stereotypes Impact On Society
The Impact of Stereotypes on Stereotypes A stereotype may be negative or positive, but even positive
stereotypes present two problems: They are cliches, and they present a human being as far more
simple and uniform than any human being actually is (Kress). Stereotypes impact everyone, everyday,
of every minute. It doesn t matter if they are good or bad, stereotypes are almost never right. They
cause false expectations and often lead to debates, fights, and someone is always offended by them.
Stereotypes can be defined as an image that a large group of people believes about a certain person or
thing and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotypes). For example, in an interview with Guy
Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that I think that there s tension. I think there s a tension with
fighting to not internalize some of what has been placed on you, especially during very important
formative years (Raz, Jamila). This shows that stereotypes can cause people to develop some internal
conflict, such as debating on whether or not the stereotypes that are placed on people are true. In
another interview with Guy Raz, Maz Jobrani says, Look, stereotypes exist because there s always
some truth to stereotypes. Not always, but often... (Raz, Maz). This means that there is a little truth in
stereotypes, and this is most often what makes people believe them. If they didn t have any truth in
them, they wouldn t exist. Clearly stereotypes have a negative effect on society, but

Civil Litigation Procedures And Criminal Procedures
The difference among Civil Litigation procedures and Criminal procedures
An individual going to a lawyer to seek help in resolving an issue and seek monetary damages against
someone they believe has done them wrong. The attorney conducts the interview and the staff will
interview witness and perform legal research all in an effort to see if there is a basis for a cause of
action that is legitimate against wrongdoers. This begins the relationship between client and lawyer
which is solidified by the execution of a retainer agreement. In the retainer agreement there is an
understanding of the way that a lawyer will be paid. The Lawyer will begin the process of informing
the defendant of the complaint against them, and damages sought in the form of a demand letter. If the
defendant chooses not to answer the demand letter it s time to prepare for trial. The lawyer works on
jurisdiction to find the correct court who can hear the case. When the determination for jurisdiction is
set following will be venue selection. Venue allows for an impartial jury and focuses on the
convenience of the defendant. During this time claims and motions can be filed such as Complaint,
Answer, Counterclaim, Cross Claim, Motion to strike, and Motion to dismiss. After the reply or a
dismissal motion has been filed the discovery process can begin. The Discovery consists of two forms:
oral and written. Discovery that is oral include depositions and written discoveries include,
interrogatories, request

  • 6. Feminism Vs Feminism Femininity is a concept that relies not only upon social constructions, but upon the individualized choices made by women themselves. Because femininity is influenced by socially defined factors, feminists seek to break through these boundaries and to counter that the original ideas of femininity do not accurately define a woman. On the other hand, such women still exist who believe in the latter: a traditional household where women have the behavioral aspects of being pure and gentle, while respectively acknowledging her responsibilities as a mother and a wife. Throughout the years, women have remained in touch with their femininity, dating back to the Woman s Rights Movement in the 1700s. Femininity is essentially a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles, generally assigned with girls and women. Feminism is the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Women today tend to lead towards wanting empowerment and feeling liberated by inducing in activities that promote body positivity and freedom of expression. • 7. The Evil in Fairytales The Evil in Fairytales These stories are suffused with the same purity that makes children appear so marvelous and blessed. Wilhelm Grimm, preface to Nursery and Household Tales Many adults are hardly prepared for the graphic descriptions of murder, mutilation, cannibalism, infanticide, and incest that fill the pages of these bedtime stories for children. Maria M. Tatar, The Hard Facts about the Grimm s Fairy Tales Introduction Children all over the world listen to fairytales every night at bedtime and hear colorful stories about evil witches, goblins, hobgoblins and other terrible creatures of the night. Indeed, the some of the most famous fairytales by the Brothers Grimm are filled with evil creatures that are out to do humankind harm. Moreover, many of the stories in fairytales do not contain the watered down version of evil that is depicted by many Disney type productions in modern media but rather describe the real thing where people can suffer and even die as a result of their contact with the evil creatures in fairytales. Some authorities even argue that fairytales can be disturbing for young readers, but most seem to agree that the good triumphs over evil themes in fairytales make them timeless and appropriate for everyone. To gain some fresh insights in this area, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature concerning the evil in fairytales, including examples, followed by a summary of the research and important ... • 8. Hart s Account Of The Relationship Between Law And Morality Outline and critically evaluate Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality. Introduction: Natural law theorists believe that all law must be morally justified if it can be legitimised as law at all. Legal positivism means the simple contention that it is in no sense a necessary truth that laws reproduce or satisfy certain demands of morality, though in fact they have otherwise done so. (Hart, DATE) In Hart s eyes, though there may be a congruence between law and morality, it is by no means a necessary connection. (Hart, DATE) Hart promotes the need for a clear distinction between law and morality on two levels. Firstly the Social and hermeneutic level in regards to both law and morality sharing vocabulary in both structure and function showing that in many societies legal rules will match their moral rules. Second a logic and hypothetical level Hart believes in the possibility of a legal system existing without the influence of morality as there are cases were legal systems do not match the moral grounds of society.( see Austins command theory and the idea of one sovereign ruling all) (SOURCE) Hart s idea is this: All one/society needs is a legal system based on the four rules. This paper will demonstrate how Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality shows an understanding of how they both work together yet can also work as separate entities. It will take a specific look into the internal point of view to aid the understanding of why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner Analysis War Does Evil A Discussion of Three Messages From Randall Jarrell s Gunner There was not a point in this world s history when war was more prevalent, than that of World War Two. During this time, millions of innocent lives were slain, and millions of soldiers died fighting, but were replaced almost instantly. War completely manipulates the human mind, allowing it to commit actions no mind would ever think to conceive otherwise. War takes over the will of humanity, and brings out the ferocity that all humans have boiled down inside them. As Chan states, war allows the world to cave in and consume itself, and each day of fighting leads closer to oblivion. The short story The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner by Randall Jarrell is a perfect representation of the monstrosity called war. Jarrell was an influential and gifted writer who lived during WWII. On March 17, 1992, President George Bush called Walton an American original who embodied the entrepreneurial spirit and epitomized the American dream. Rob Walton replaced his father as chairman of the company, and Wal Mart carried on without its original visionary leader (Chain Store Age, 1999). Sam Walton s simple value formula was to have everyday low prices for the American working class. Walton s formula exhibited the most basic traits of successful leadership: A clear, easy to understand vision; constant communication of the vision and consistent adherence to it. It was not until Walton s death at age 74 that management of the company began to shift away from this formula of success. • 21. The, The Fire, And The Rope By far Dana showed the most relevance to the novel. She impacted on Rufus s decisions and made him think for himself. Dana is an African American woman in her late 20 s teleporting back in time during the antebellum to her old ancestors, which later she discovers about, and also is considered a slave. Dana has connected to every character throughout the novel. Rufus, Sarah, Alice and many more. Throughout her journey to Maryland during the 1700 s and 1800 s she learned many things, like believing only in herself. To begin with, Rufus s life depended on Dana, since she was the only one who knew how to help him every time he got into a problem. The novel s chapters correlate with every situation Rufus got into; the river, the fire, the fall, the fight, the storm, and the rope. The reason Dana saves Rufus s life is because later on she discovers that he is her great, great ancestor whom she had to save, to save herself. This shows the relevance of her presence there, not only she cared for Rufus, but also considered herself as the one who supposed to help him. Another example that shows Dana s relevance in the novel is by helping other slaves. For example, Alice, after the fight between Isaac and Rufus because of Rufus s attempt to rape Alice who apparently was Isaac s wife. The reason this shows her relevance to the novel because once again, she saves Rufus from being killed by Isaac after her try to convince them to run and Rufus will let them escape without telling ... Lewis in 1950. It vividly portrays the fictitious lives of four young siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy during the time period of World War II. The reader travels along with the siblings, as they discover the magical land of Narnia that extends beyond an enormous wardrobe. The children within the story develop as a result of their experience within Narnia, and ultimately grow as individuals based on the struggles they face. The reader travels along with them while contemplating issues of good versus evil, problem solving, moral reasoning and identity development. A literary element from this text that helps shine multiple lights onto the same story, is the third person omniscient narrative. Within the novel, the narrator makes extensive use of the omniscience. Through the eyes of a child: An introduction to children s literature notes that when writing from the omniscient point of view, the author is not restricted to the knowledge, experiences, and feelings of one person; the feelings and thoughts of all characters can be revealed. Then, as though it were magic, all of a sudden the day of emancipation arrives, in the eyes of the ignorant Antiguans, and all the slaves are freed. • 27. Allusions In Crime And Punishment Crime and Punishment, written by Fyodor Dostoevsky, is a novel about the actions of a man, his punishment, and his eventual redemption. Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, (Raski), is a man with many flaws. By the end of part one, he had already murdered two women, a pawnbroker, and her friend. This act is very important for it sets the tone for the rest of the plot. The majority of Dostoevsky s book is about the suffering Raskolnikov endures and how, through his pain, Raski is able to achieve redemption. Among Dostoevsky s use of many techniques, his use of literary motifs, and Christian allusions help to convey the importance of religion in redemption. One major motif used by Dostoevsky was water. Historically, this has represented the purification of sins and is a motif that is generally based in a religious way. Crime and Punishment exemplifies the idea of water as a purifying substance, almost a sort of baptism. Water becomes important to note in Part 2, specifically chapter 6. In this chapter, Raskolnikov witnesses a woman s attempt to take her life by jumping off of a bridge and drowning in the water. She is eventually saved and Raskolnikov starts thinking about suicide in the same way. It was disgusting to him. No, it s vile . . . the water . . . better not (170). Numerous antidepressant drugs increase synaptic levels of serotonin, but they also enhance the levels of the neurotransmitters, norepinephrine and dopamine. In the body there is another monoamine called monoamine oxidase that has the effect of breaking down serotonin and norepinephrine. Therefore, by blocking the effect of the monoamine oxidase, there is a increase of synaptic concentrations of monoamines and te symptoms of depression are relieved. This discovery led to the monoamine hypothesis of depression over 30 years ago, which proposes that the underlying biological basis for depression is a deficiency of central noradrenergic and serotonergic systems and that targeting this neuronal lesion with an antidepressant would tend to restore normal function in depressed patients. A class of drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) have this effect. The lawyer uses Erin s status as a poor, single, twice divorced mother in order to make the jury believe that she is lying. Furthermore, the surgeon s lawyer talks down to her because she is a woman and dresses in tight, skimpy clothing. The overarching problem in the movie was the contamination of the water in Hinkley, California. The water was contaminated by a substance called chromium VI by the water company, PG E. Chromium VI is highly toxic to human beings and the company, knowing how toxic it is, dumps it into the water that the residents use. When Erin finds out about the chromium VI in the water, she begins by bringing it to the attention of the families who may have been affected by it. Regarding this, Erin takes an objectivist approach, knowing that the chromium levels are too high and could potentially (and already did) cause life threatening diseases for the people of Hinkley. To explain, a social divide like the one that is depicted by Wordsworth has been taking place in the United Kingdom. Brexit , a referendum to leave the European Union that passed during the summer of 2016, mimics the nationalistic fervor that is exhibited in the poem, especially in phrasing such as ...raise us up, return to us again... (Meyer 703). In addition, one can infer that since older generations of voters swayed the decision, they too have a longing for a revived golden age, much like the plea that Wordsworth has towards the likes of John Milton, who was before Wordsworth time. Of course, this notable poem could not only be directed to the United Kingdom, but across the world as well. Across the many systems of governments, an ideological shift towards the right on the political spectrum has offered growth in terms of their own nation being the first of concern, and the rest of the world second. Such a shift tries to revive the golden age that Wordsworth has longed desired. In essence, the poem exhibits a striking resemblance to the world s current ideological shift. Biodiversity is major component of sustainability, and it is defined as the variety of genes, organisms, species, and ecosystems in a given area or on the planet as a whole (Miller and Spoolman 2015, 5). Urban spaces typically lack biodiversity due to a variety of factors that cause the destruction of ecosystems, such as replacing established ecosystems with large lawns, parking lots, buildings, and highways. When these well established, high functioning ecosystems are disturbed, we eliminate the variety of genes, organisms, and species that lived in that ecosystem. In doing so, we have caused stress for the organisms that live there. For example, if we fragment an ecosystem via highway or road expansion, at a minimum we are permanently altering the breeding and feeding relationships that existed in that ecosystem. In terms of breeding, highway construction separates organisms of the same species and keeps them from mating. This results in fewer genes being exchanged between organisms. Those genes could potentially be what saves a species from extinction in the event of a disaster, such as a forest fire or flood. In addition, highways also disrupt energy flow patterns which provide ecosystem services like a natural form of population control. In accordance with that, the extinction of even a single species can cause a rapid decline in a variety of organisms in that same ecosystem. This is due to the fact that many organisms within an ecosystem have co evolved, meaning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They cause false expectations and often lead to debates, fights, and someone is always offended by them. Stereotypes can be defined as an image that a large group of people believes about a certain person or thing and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotypes). For example, in an interview with Guy Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that I think that there s tension. I think there s a tension with fighting to not internalize some of what has been placed on you, especially during very important formative years (Raz, Jamila).
