Today I decided to do the meditation called Grounding Meditation it is the 3rd meditation for my
assignment Your Journal Activity . I am hoping it helps me with grounding. I had to try this one
a few times before I could turn my brain off some to meditate. I did go to a quiet place and sat
comfortable in a chair. I also lit a couple of candles and a sage incense which both help to relax me.
Once I was all set I closed my eyes and took several deep breaths and started to meditate. Before

slowly felt myself relax and then visualize the roots leaving my feet and entering the earth going

3. The Battle of the Crater
Introduction The Battle of the Crater was supposed to be an unexpected attempt by
Union forces to break through the Confederate defenses south of a critical hub near Petersburg,
Virginia. The battle took place on the morning of July 30 1864, and consisted of 16,500 IX Corps
Union soldiers and approximately 9,500 Confederate soldiers.1 Ambrose E. Burnside lead the IX
Corps soldiers but overall command of the Union soldiers known as Grant s Army of the Potomac
was by General George G. Meade. The confederate soldiers were mostly made up of elements of
the Army of Northern Virginia and South Carolina and were led by William Mahone under the
direct order of Robert E. Lee. The Union decided to explode a mine under the Confederates and
blow a gap into their defensive lines. Petersburg, Virginia was an important location due to the
railheads that merged together there. The railhead then continued to Richmond the capital to
deliver supplies to the Confederate Army. 2
History Some of the worst fighting between Ulysses S. Grant s Army of the Potomac and General
Robert E. Lee s Army happened in the months leading up to the Battle of the Crater near Petersburg,
Virginia. The two armies clashed at such places as the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, the
North Anna River, Cold Harbor, and along the defensive perimeter around Petersburg.3 The

5. The Deaf in Society Essay
The Deaf Community
Imagine if you could never experience the sound of your favorite song on the radio. Or you
could never hear the voice of a family member wishing you happy birthday. Since these
situations are typical we may take them for granted. But these every day scenarios will never be
part of a deaf person s life. One out of thousand infants will be born deaf every year, (Deaf
Understanding). Most people don t realize the giant impact of the deaf in our society. Deaf persons
can be any race, gender and position in society. They can be scientists, doctors, or many other
professions. Since the occurrence of deafness is so high in our society we all must learn how to
communicate affectivity with the deaf community.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the National Association of the Deaf, individuals who can t hear would rather be
called either deaf or hard of hearing, (Deaf Net). The term hearing impaired are sometimes
offensive to deaf individuals because it focuses on what they aren t able to do. It is important to
understand if you agree with either pathological or cultural views so you can communicate with the
deaf community affectively.
Another reason why everyone should be respectful and patient with the deaf community is
because they might join it one day. In some cases individuals may lose their sense of hearing due
to accidents or medical conditions. Also, individuals may one day be faced with having a child
who is deaf. 93 percent of deaf children are born into hearing families and only 7 percent are born
into deaf families, (NAD). These statistics prove that no one is exempt to the possibility of having
a child who is deaf. Therefore, we must all be helpful, respectful and patient. We should never
exclude anyone due to their differences.
There are many ways to increase your ability to communicate with the deaf community. Obviously,
learning Sign Language is a very important factor in interacting with deaf individuals. Each country
s deaf community develops its own Sign Language. For example American Sign Language is a
different language then South African Sign Language. This means they use different signs to

6. The Pearl Struggles
Kino and Juana experienced multiple struggles throughout the story of The Pearl. Kino is a pearl
diver, and he found a pearl that he believed to be everything. Kino started to value the pearl more
than his family. He got his priorities mixed up, and the pearl should not be valued more than his
family. Throughout this novel, Steinbeck conveyed that the most precious things in life are not as
valuable as they seem.
Kino had tremendous dreams for the future. When he looked into the pearl, he saw important things
happening to him and his family. He wanted a proper wedding for him and Juana. He dreamt that
they would have nice clothes and look presentable. He also saw that his one and only son would

wife. The pearl had started taking over Kino s personality. Before the pearl, Kino would never hurt
Juana. Kino valued the pearl so much, that he forgot how much he loved his wife.
Kino looked into the pearl for the second time, and he only saw bad things. Kino looked into the
pearl to try to see his dreams again. He tried to see the positive side of things, but he could only
see images of Juana s beaten up face and a black figure with blood. Kino realized the pearl was
not going to fulfill his dreams and that it was only bringing dreadful things.
Since Kino valued the pearl so much, it led to the death of his only son. Kino thought it would be
an appropriate time to try to get the rifle when only one man was awake. Juana and Coyotito
stayed in the cave. Coyotito started to cry, but the trackers thought it was a coyote pup. The
tracker that was awake fired the rifle that killed Coyotito. If Kino would have waited to attack, the

7. Analysis Of The Movie Stand And Deliver
This paper will be explaining the different types of leadership skill that I notice in the movie Stand

that he could think of. The students received such a high test score that the testing center though

one female student mentions could cost me my job. The students stop talking and start looking
at Jamie and wondering what he is talking about. The second leadership theory Jamie shows is

8. The Great Depression And President Roosevelt s New Deal
The 1930s, historically remembered for the Great Depression and President Roosevelt s New
Deal, demonstrated a time of great racial tension and segregation in America. Slavery dissolved
and the Ku Klux Klan became less popular; the struggle of African Americans, however, was not
over. Racial segregation thrived with half of African Americans out of work, their jobs
transfered to whites who were struggling from the Great Depression ( Race During the Great
Depression ). The New Deal, created to promote equality and produce jobs, proved largely
ineffective on the front of desegregation, doing little to help the black American community. One
place that African Americans were able to prosper: jazz. However, even the jazz community itself
remained segregated. Racial prejudice came from both fronts: whites did not want to mix socially
with Negroes, and blacks believed that when a Negro enters a White band, he loses his identity as
a Negro musician ( DownBeat Dodges the Racial Issue ). Benny Goodman, however, broke this
barrier, initially in 1935 with the first interracial jazz performance, and again in his 1938
Carnegie Hall concert featuring black musicians. Benny Goodman s career did not commence
with the Trio s 1935 performance; a clarinet player from a young age, Goodman initiated his
professional career in 1925 as a member of the Ben Pollack Orchestra. During his time with the
orchestra, he recorded his first solo on the song He s the Last Word. In 1931, Benny

Companies such as Pepsi Cola and Coca Cola were able to determine whether their strategy was
successful by measuring their sales and their earnings growth. Companies are able to tell how
successful they are by their overall financial strength and their ability to retain customers (Gamble
et al., 2013). The soft drink industry was able to change their image by endorsing their sports
drink and vitamin water products as being healthier. They also made people aware of how
important it is to keep the body hydrated and proved that their product could help. Their strategy
was to appeal to a healthier clientele who are more active customers, than they previously had with
their soda clientele. They were able to draw in these new customers and develop a different

After elementary school, my mom and dad separated. At the time, I was thirteen years old and
still had a strong notion that my dad would eventually come and join us in Bel Air, Maryland,
where we had moved to during the summer of 2006. However, towards the end of the summer, I
slowly came to terms with the fact that I would not be living with my father the way I had
before. Through interactions with my new predominantly white middle school friends, I was
exposed to a wider variety of genres such as metal, rock (classic and new age), punk, and pop. At

friends listened to, however, now I realize it was a potential mechanism for me to separate myself

according to Mike Rugnetta, is responsible for the emotional we feel in response to music. In
addition, I believe I honed in on this song and the surrounding genre because of the masculinity
associated with the song. Beast and Harlot , in music at least (the video had some feminine
elements, however, the video was not released at the time), had all the elements of masculinity

successful and in the lead amongst their competitors. Good quality pizzaand great customer service

customer retention and interest in the business. After being internationally known and having
opened 5000 stores by the end of the 80 s, Domino s pizza started to lose customers and due to
their complaints over bad pizza. This led the business to having a bad reputation globally.
Nevertheless, the company had to create new pizza recipes to win back their customers with the
remake of a new campaign and the launching of a new website. The new pizza campaign won over
old and new customers with the addition of new items to the menu.

16. Critical Analysis Of Langston Hughes s Note On Commercial...
Even after the Harlem Renaissance was off the forefront of the nation s mind, Langston Hughes
continued to comment on the demoralization that white people have historically done unto the
African American community. In his 1940 poem, Note on Commercial Theater , Hughes looked to
the writers for Broadway and the presentations of commercial theater and saw the appropriation of
black culture and perversion of music introduced by the Harlemites. These writers made the music
whiter while stripping the credit from those who established it. Despite not having the recognition
of white peopleat that time, Hughes still knew that someday somebody ll / Stand up and talk about
me, / And write about me even if it would only be himself (Note on Commercial Theatre 12 14).
Somehow, somewhere, someone would always be able to identify the wrongs white people inflict
on others and be able to pay homage to the struggle while still celebrating their culture. His
awareness of the ability of the black community to join together and acknowledge progression
demonstrates his confidence in that community as a whole. It does not matter whether or not his
own words are heard in his time, but instead that someone else will take them to heart and further
the progression towards a better situation. The promise of a future ties the entire black community
together towards more opportunities for growth.

17. The Fourteenth Amendment And The Sixth Amendment
The originally Bill of Rights protected the rights of citizens from infringement by the federal
government, but made no mention of the states. The Fourteen Amendment, adopted shortly after
the Civil War, protected citizenship and individual rights from infringement by state governments.
Under the Fourteenth Amendment s due process clause, the United States Supreme Court began to
apply the most important rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights against the states. This process
began in the early 1900s and is known as the doctrine of selective incorporation. Duncan versus
Louisiana was the landmark case in which the court incorporated the Sixth Amendment right to a
jury trial against the states. In 1966, Gary Duncan was charged in Louisiana with simple battery, a
misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and a three hundred dollar fine. Duncan
requested a jury trial, but at the time, Louisiana granted jury trials only to cases punishable by
execution or imprisonment at hard labor, and the Sixth Amendment right to a jury trial had not yet
been incorporated against the states. Duncan s request was denied. He was convicted after a bench
trial and sentenced to sixty days in prison and a ten dollar fine. Duncan appealed to the Louisiana
Supreme Court, but it declined to hear the case. Duncan then petitioned the United States Supreme
Court for review, asserting that the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments guaranteed his right to a jury
trial. The issue before the Court was

18. The Importance Of A Shatter Zone In The Film Winter s Bone
A shatter zone used to be defined as a belt of randomly fissured or cracked rock that may be filled
with mineral deposits (Moon,pg 1). After World War two the meaning changed dramatically.
According to Moon and Talley, a shatter zone is now is borderlands where refugee populations
migrated in large numbers to escape the pressures of the stateand/or the capitalist economies
through which the state exerted itself (Moon, Pg 1). For the Most part, James Scott agrees with
Moon and Talley when he defines a shatter zone as places of resistance to and refuge from some
of the most destructive effects of state making and state rule (Scott,pg 22). This zones are found
wherever a large number of people have gone to seek refuge in out of the way places ( Scott,pg
23). A shatter Zone is depicted throughout the Film Winters Bone .
The film, Winter s Bone, open with a shot of Ree Dolly s house. It shows that they are not very
well off, and that the mom is sick and will alway be sick. Ree has assumed her mom s role in
taking care of her young siblings. The film then shows the neighbors skinning a deer to eat. The
Dolly family is watching and hoping that they will bring them some of the meat. The neighbors do
bring them meat, showing a leveling mechanism because a leveling mechanism is to ensure social
equality. This shows that the people living here are self sufficient and do not rely on grocery
stores. A sheriff then rolls up asking for the mom, but ended up just talking to Ree.

19. Close Critical Analysis of Coleridge s Frost at Midnight
Frost at Midnight is generally regarded as the greatest of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s
Conversation Poems and is said to have influenced Wordsworth s pivotal work, Lines Composed a
Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey . It is therefore apposite to analyse Frost at Midnight with a view
to revealing how the key concerns of Romanticismwere communicated through the poem.
The Romantic period in English literature ran from around 1785, following the death of the
eminent neo classical writer Samuel Johnson, to the ascension of Queen Victoria to the throne in
1837. However, in the years spanning this period writers were not identified as exponents of a

562 63, line 1). Later in the poem, he personifies a film of soot flapping on the grate of the fire:
Methinks, its motion in the hush of nature
Gives it dim sympathies with me who lives,
Making it a companionable form (lines 17 19).
Such instances are effective in illustrating the Romantic precept that the seemingly familiar or
innocuous aspects of nature can still fill the viewer with awe В– an example of the В‘glorification
of the normal as described by Abrams. Coleridge is informed by a distinctly Romantic sensibility,
one which takes issue with Samuel Johnson s assertion that all wonder is the effect of novelty
upon ignorance (Abrams, 2000, p. 11). Instead, Coleridge s speaker meditates with wonder upon
such an ordinary thing as soot. As he does so he transforms the film into a friend and liberates the
focus of the poem from the immediate confines of the cottage to the more promising realm of
memory and imagination.
The speaker of Frost at Midnight displays a characteristic reverence for nature В– possibly the
essential concern of Romanticism. In pious tones, he describes the far other scenes where his son
will pass his boyhood By lakes and sandy shores, beneath the crags/ Of ancient mountain (lines 55

Data Collation
Data was collected from published studies or in press studies that focused on human impacts toward
soil biodiversity. Potential relevant studies must compare multiple sites which having different land

metrics must be present in the study, so that diversity can be estimated. Furthermore, the
information of the sites location is also very important, studies which have the sites coordinates are
more preferable. The coordinates are very useful not just to pinpoint the exact location on the map,
but also to help us acquire other information, e.g. climate, biome, and ecoregion (all paper criteria
similar to Newbold et al. 2015). To find these potential relevant studies, I used Web of Science (http:

first photo they would have taken together and I believe this is one of the first images every
produced of a gay couple. It creates an unusual warmth to the image. The background in the
image reminds me of a forbidden forest, I m unsure of the photographer but I like to think that
there s controversial meaning to the background and the couple present. Wilhelm Von Gloeden
(1836 1931) was one of the first to treat photography as an independent art form and share his
own private view of heaven with cultured networks and fellow homosexuals across the world.
With a clearly defined aesthetic and a sure sense of his own artistry, von Gloeden abandoned
scenic postcard photography to become the foremost proponent of a kind of purely pictorial
photography which, for its day, was revolutionary. (Haggerty, 2000, pp. 687 687). Using
photography for own artist expression is natural and encouraged in these days, but back in that
time, the real artists ignored this form of photography. But by 1887, the public and critics began to
understand real pictorial photography and understand what the photographer was trying to relate to
whether a feeling or a story or a lifestyle. The development of this kind of photography lead the
documentary artists like Berenice Abbott to photograph gay,

24. Exercise Independence
The Relationship Between Exercise Independence and Introjected Regulation
The reason that people exercise depends on various motives and personality traits. Specifically,
although exercise is important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Exercise dependence represents a
condition in which moderate to vigorous physical activity becomes a compulsive behavior
(Edmunds et al., 2006). The term exercise dependence refers to individuals habitual and extreme
exercise routine that eventually leads to the destruction of the social and occupational aspects of
peoples lives (Maclaren 2007). Exercise dependent individuals continue their obsession with
exercise to the point in which they see negative extremely repercussions, that can be both

The limitations to the literature found on the topic of the KIN2276F study include the sample
size. For example, the size of the groups studied in much of the found literature was as little as18,
where as this study included 185 participants both male and female. The study conducted by the
KIN2276F class is also more reliable due to the background on the participants. The participants in
this study are university students who are all expected to be relatively active compared to the
general populations in the other studies found therefore producing a more accurate result of people
who exercise regularly and why they do so.
In conclusion, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between exercise
dependence and self determined motivation. Through the use of questionnaires it with be
determined which correlation between the SDT and exercise dependence is the strongest. It is
hypothesized the use of exercise dependence will be positively related to introjected regulation.

25. Frequency Analysis Paper
In this paper we will analyze a sample recoding of my voice using Audacity, in both the
Frequency Analysis window graph, and also the time domain graph. I ll go over what both
graphs above mean, and what I can tell by the composition of of my voice signal. Likewise, we ll
discuss the voice signals amplitude and bandwidth. As we analyze the graphs we will see how
this information could be used to plan a transmission facility, and why we must be careful to
avoid clipping. Furthermore we will dig deeper and ask the question if, 300 4,000 Hz bandwidth,
would sufficient enough for a telephone system, and then finally end this paper with an
explanation why do we want 20 to 20,000 Hz bandwidth in music systems today. At the end of the
paper I am hopeful that the information I provide will give you a clearer picture on signal
transmissions as a whole.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simplest way to put is Frequency means how fast is the signal is changing. In this graph
what we have used is a small sample of an audio recording of my voice. Sound waves can be
examined in relationships of their amplitude and frequency. In the frequency analysis graph the
recoding is then plotting a graph of frequency (x axis, in Hz) versus intensity (y axis, in dB).
Thus allowing us to be able to analyze the recording signals with respect to frequency. As in
which the other graph allows us to measure the voice recording in respect with time. So in the
frequency analysis graph we can see the the higher the dB s are the higher the pitch is within that
portion of the audio compared to another fragment of the recording where the dBs are lower. The
frequency of a audio wave affects the pitch of the sound we hear. In the first graph we are able to
see the length and how much time/space the sinusoidal signals recoding takes by the amplitude and

26. Bag Tax In America
To whom it may concern, Since the 1960s, polyethylene bags has been a catalyst for the American
economy and have directly effected employment opportunities in the United States. In recent
years, the plastic bag industry created over 25,000 new jobs. However, it has made headlines due
to the detrimental effects it has on the environment. With such risks, critics claim that it is crucial
to control this activity through a bag tax. In this letter I will inform you about the damage this law
presents and a possible solution to this issue. The implementation of a bag tax will put many out of
work and devastate many businesses in America. For instance, the National Center for Policy
Analysis reported that the 10 cent tax on plastic bags in Los Angeles forced a ten... Show more

Along with the economic complications, a bag tax will make conditions for the working much
more difficult. The reason I say that is because a family who cannot afford groceries will have to
pay more, thus making their living conditions worse. The United States Department of
Agriculture reported that there are 17.5 million families in the United States that are food
insecure. This means that they have difficulties finding a direct source of food. So with the
implementation of a bag tax these families will have to compete with increasing food prices and
a tax that will make their next meal unaffordable. In conclusion, the integration of a bag tax will
make the accessibility to food difficult for working class Americans. The last and final reason as
to why application of a bag tax is unnecessary is because it aims to combat pollution, but it fails to
do so. The Environment Protection Agency reported that plastic bags account for only 0.03% of the
United States total waste. This means that the law will not decrease littering. This is prevalent in
areas such as Washington D.C. where the recent bag tax did not combat

Insightful Guides
When you were younger, did you ever get separated from your parent and not know what to do
or whom to go to for assistance, and because you didn t know what to do you just wandered
aimlessly around? I know I have, and that s what a lot of people who are lost like that do. In fact,
that happens a lot here with new students. Yes, there are the peer helpers but that only gives the
new student one guide for one day. And that guide doesn t even show them their classes, they take
them to the classes they have and then the new student, the very next day, is on their own to find
their own way. But wouldn t it be great if they knew someone, or multiple people who could help

Their independence will be not only in finding their way around but also in knowing where to
locate things and who people are. Now many people argue they re in middle school, and they re
older now, meaning we have to be independent anyway. But even though we are older, that doesn
t mean we always know where things are or we always know what to do. That s like saying a
newborn can survive without caretaker. It s as simple as this; newborns know very little about the
world and how it works as to new students knowing very little about new schools and how they
work. So regardless of maturity or age, people need to be dependent before they can be
independent, and the ambassador program is a good form of that temporary dependence.
Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to
become comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It s important for new student/staff to be
comfortable because if they weren t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only
in class but just in general. And when students become comfortable and confident enough, that s
when they will be able to focus on things like work. But it s often thought that being comfortable
shouldn t prioritize over classes and what matters is getting work done. But what most don t
realize is that it s virtually impossible for people like us to focus on work if we feel out of place in

fairy tale, there would be no plot or drive of the story. The main character is constricted by
another character, and without this man vs. man conflict the outcome wouldn t make sense.
Throughout the story, the plot is completely wrapped around the conflict and affects the
sequence and pace of the plot overall. The leading problem presented in Rapunzel allows the
characters to fight and solve something to make up the plot and construct an outcome. The tale

If Rapunzel was never captured in the tower, the prince may have never found her that deep in
the forest, and heard her sing. A plot makes up a story, and a main part of the plot was the prince
finding his love and furtively planning an escape each day he came. However, Rapunzel was
locked away and the story encroaches with a series of events that are a result from this. When the
prince finds that Rapunzel is stuck up in the tower, he insists on marrying her, and does. They then
plan a way out, which sparks into another problem, in which that problem sparks into the
conclusion. Rapunzel is thrown out into the wild, and the prince is tricked and goes blind in the
process. However, these key details of the story are all essential to the outcome of the lovers finding
each other again. This is where a conflict can come to an end and be solved through the sequence of
events that all tie to the main conflict. After reading and analyzing this tale, one might argue that
the main conflict had more effect on the characters, than the plot of the story. Throughout the tale,
the characters are affected by the conflict, however, this ties into the effect that the conflict had on
the story overall. The characters didn t necessarily change, but the sequence of events did. The
conflict made up the plot, however it didn t make up the characters. The characters carried

In Thing s Fall Apart death is represented in one instance as a religous act. When Okwonkwo is
ordered to kill Ikemufuna it was nt simply because he wanted to. In reality he didn t want
anything to do with the death but it was a sacrifice ordered by the oracle. In Okwonkwo s efforts
to never look weak he particpates in the killing of Ikemefuna even though he was told not to.
Death in the novel also represents betrayal, I say this because Ikemefuna called Okwonkwo his
dad. Through the beginning of the text til when Ikemufuna is sacraficed no one seen that coming.

Some that are listed in the text are Ani, Amadiora, Idemeli,Agbala, and Ogwugwu and they are
believed to be the source of the communities stability and peace. The gods aren t the only evidence
of supernatural beliefs in the text, the fact that the people of Umuofia practice/believe in certain
rituals and ceremonies contribute to the role of supernatural.
In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like
a son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill
his son Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the
god who orders him to do so. Ikemefuna is Isaac in this biblical allusion, the oracle doesnt want
Okwonkwo to have anything to do with the killing of Ikemefuna. This represents the angel that
comes down and stops Abraham from killing Isaac.
In the novel Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo does not want to be weak like his father, so he is on a

Huella Hong Kong can go even further and offer a combination of both offers above.
The problem with this solution is that existing travel agencies are already making huge profits
and controlling most of the market. They won t be easily persuaded to help a potentially big
competitor enter their market. The reason for that is that it s obvious that Huella Hong Kong
would go solo as soon as they get enough recognition in the market. If this happens, it s going to
be hard for the traditional travel agencies to compete against them. The second alternative is for
Huella Hong Kong to open its own offices in Hong Kong following a Click and mortar model.
That will make them appear as any traditional travel agency. Through that, they will be able to

Cruise ships are cathedrals of consumption in which consumer activity is controlled and encouraged
by the enchanting environment constructed (Ritzer, 7). Through an atmosphere of spectacle and
grandiosity cruise ships entice spending from passengers. This effect continues throughout all areas
of the ship, including space specifically designed for young travelers. Capitalism s construction
of the child as a consumer is reified in these isolated and purified kids only areas. By creating age
specific kidspaces , cruise ship companies effectively encourage the Kids Getting Older Younger
(KGOY) phenomenon and the growing anti adultism mentality, by granting tweens and teens an
effective façade of independence that allows them to enact their power of consumer choice.
Spaces geared for ages 12 17 will be explored on three major cruise lines; Carnival, Disney, and
Royal Caribbean, in order to better understand the effects of these environments on young
consumers. In order to decipher the ways each cruise line hails the youth audience, this essay will

many facets of contemporary capitalist society. Restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, amusement

Electronic Medical Record or EMR is basically the digitized version of the patient s medical
record which might include demographic information, scanned copies of the patients report and
any other information that might be collected by the healthcare provider about the patient. With
EMR, it is usually collected and maintained by a single entity. The single entity can use EMR for
diagnosis of treatment and the diagnosis reports cannot be shared with other entity because EMR
are designed not to be shared by outside entity. Figure ref{emr} displays the visual representation
of EMR and EHR within New Zealand. It shows how medical information is collected from
various healthcare providers and feeds to the national EHR. EMR are single records that can be
accessed and modified by everyone within the practice and can be referred to anything that can be
found on a paper chart, such as patients treatments, diagnosis etc.

For this reason, the physician suggested that he might require dialysis in a couple of years. He

Diuretics have the capacity to cause dehydration by fluid volume depletion, increase the urge to

39. Write An Essay On The Effects Of Shooting A Basketball
Basketball is a widely known game around the world. Played by both men and women it is one
of the more popular sports around. Made in December of 1891 by Dr. James Naismith it is still
being played today. Although basketball looks like a lot of running, dribbling, and shooting you ll
learn that there is a lot more things that go into it. The art of shooting a basketballis a whole lot more
than just aiming at the goal and flicking your wrist. You have to be able to have the right arc and
trajectory to be able to get the ball through the hoop. Not only do those things go into a jump
shot, but also spin is very important in shooting a shot. For instance, if you have the right speed
and direction of spin on the ball than if you miss your shot, the way the ball spins off the rim or
backboard may result in you hitting a lucky shot. The effects of air resistance of the ball are so
small because of small velocities, so spin of a shot in air is not useful. What spin is useful for is
for a better chance of the ball going in if the ball hits the rim (Kentridge). If you have the right
amount of spin, trajectory, and arc on the ball than the better chance you have of getting the
perfect swish. The backspin, after contact with the back rim or board, will result in a change in
velocity opposite to the spin direction, changing an equal angle rebound into a velocity more
toward the net (Willis). Backspin is very crucial in shooting a ball. If you do not have rotation on
your ball then more than likely you will miss most of the shots you take. They will just bounce off
of the rim or backboard without having a chance of bouncing in. With the spin on a shot, some of...

To be apart of the guardian class, one must participate in extraneous education, physical activity

43. Edward Snowden Controversy
Edward Snowden is a former computer programmer that worked for the National Security Agency,
an intelligence agency of the US government that focuses on the protection of important data from
foreign intelligence. But back in 2013, he was found guilty of leaking confidential information
regarding the NSA s secret surveillanceprogram. After being charged for theft of government
property, various debates arose about Snowden s betrayal towards his country. With the movie
Snowden released on September 16, 2016, the controversy still continues. One of the biggest
questions that is still asked today about Snowden is whether or not he is justified for his actions.
There are two ways to look at this; is Snowden an enemy or hero to America?
After discovering that the National Security Agency had the ability to use its surveillance system to
spy on billions of people through electronic devices, Snowden leaked to the public documents that
contained information about these surveillance practices. Millions of American citizens were
disturbed to find out that their own government was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the attacks of September 11th, investigating any signs of terrorism in or out of the United
States became a major priority for the US government. Just forty five days after 9/11, Congress
passed the Patriot Act which made it easier for the government to find any suspicious activity
regarding phone calls, emails, and credit reports. Even back in 1978, Congress passed the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act which authorised the use of electronic surveillance against
foreign spies in the United States. Of course back in the 70s, electronic devices weren t as
involved in people s lives as they are today. So although domestic surveillance has been around for
a while, it has become a bigger issue now because nearly everyone in the United States has access

44. Examples Of Hubris In King Lear
In Act I, King Lear is unaware his own hubris will ultimately cause his terrible suffering on
Earth. He demands a public display of love, addressing his daughters in front of his entire court,
Tell me, my daughters/...Which of you shall we say doth love us most (1.1.50 3). For a modern
reader, his words parallel the evil queen in a fairytale who demands: Who s the fairest of them
all? Just as the queen asks this question knowing she is the fairest, Lear requests all his daughters
to shower him with praise simply to boost his ego, and his ever apparent pride and narcissism
blinds him and leads him away from the grace of salvation. He continues down a sinful path by
banishing his most loyal servant, Kent, proclaiming, Out of my sight! (1.1.153).... Show more

Kent is beseeching Lear to improve his ocular sense in not only the physical manifestation of sight,
but also seeing the true nature of those around him. From this moment forward, Lear slowly
acquires stronger vision which ultimately leads to his redemption. Lear experiences a moral turning
point when caught outside in a storm on the heath. He himself recognizes how the storm refers not
to the tempest of nature occurring but to the tempest in [his] mind (3.4.12), becoming a metaphor
for the internal disturbance Lear is experiencing. Just as Lear is about to take shelter from the
storm in a hovel, he turns to his Fool and utters four words, In, boy; go first. (3.4.26). These four
simple words are rich with humility, the precondition to all Christian virtues. Lear then delivers a

45. Epistemological Foundations
Director Levitsky, I posit to you that we should restructure the epistemological foundations of U.S.
counter terrorism policy as it pertains to Salafi jihadism specifically, and Islamic terrorism broadly.
I believe that we must fundamentally change our understanding what Islamic terror is if we are to
have any hope of effectively opposing it. Current institutional dialectics and policy focus on the
political and strategic aspirations of terrorist groups, as well as the tactical methods they employ to
accomplish their goals. I suggest to you that existing counter terrorismpolices are pursuing
superficial material aims. We are attempting to destroy terrorist groups, institutions, and individuals.

However unlike framed this principle as primarily a political undertaking. Qutb believed that
contemporary states were morally bankrupt and that Islam served as a comprehensive system of
governance. Further unlike his predecessors, Qutb asserted that the umma properly governed by
sharia was sufficient as a state apparatus. In defining what constitutes sharia, Qutb turned to
Wahhab and his literal textual interpretation of Islam predicated on the Quran and Hadith. Qutb
also posited the notion of a defensive and lesser Jihad to actualize this return to an original Islamic
community. Qutb cited and expanded upon Taymiyyah domains of the world concept. Qutb
believes that Muslim governments that did not strictly adhere to Islamic law were inexcusable and
a threat to the Umma. Consequently it was necessary to engage in revolutionary Jihad against
apostate governments in order to protect the Umma. Qutb can be said to have repurposed Wahhabi
and Salafi religious scholarship for an eschatological political purpose. For Qutb political and
religious were inextricable and the essential project of Islam was the violently overthrow perceived

46. Charles Darwin s Theory Of Evolution
In January of 1925, the State of Tennessee passed a law called The Butler Bill that prohibited any
teacher within the State of Tennessee to teach any theory that denies the story of the Divine
Creation of man and that man descended from a lower order of animals. 1 Fundamentalism was the
basis of The Butler Bill. Fundamentalism is the belief in the literal interpretation of religious texts.
In June, a Tennessee high school substitute teacher named John Scopes was accused of teaching
Charles Darwin s theory of evolutionto students. The theory of evolution was a hypothesis that
species survived through natural selection , meaning the adaption of species evolving to better
themselves to a changing and threatening environment and that man evolved from apes. His theory
that Scopes taught was completely against the Butler law. Even though Scopes teaching of
evolution violated the Butler Law, he should have had the right to teach Darwin s theory because
religion should not have had any involvement with the education system.
The Scope Monkey Trial July 10, 1925, the trial of John Scopes began. The case attracted a lot of
attention that it broadcasted throughout the United States via radio. In Scopes defense, The
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), together with Clarence Darrow, a famous attorney from
Chicago, came to Scopes defense for the trial. . For the prosecution, Tennessee acquired the

3.1 IMAGE DENOISING
Denoising of image means, suppressing the effect of noise to an extent that the resultant image
becomes acceptable. The spatial domain or transform (frequency) domain filtering can be used for
this purpose. There is one to one correspondence between linear spatial filters and filters in the
frequency domain. However, spatial filters offer considerably more versatility because they can
also be used for non linear filtering, something we cannot do in the frequency domain. Recently
wavelet transform is also being used to remove the impulse noise from noisy images. Historically,
in early days filters were used uniformly on the entire image without discriminating between the
noisy and noise free pixels. mean filter such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers published different ways to compute the parameters for the thresholding of wavelet
coefficients. Data adaptive thresholds were introduced to achieve optimum value of threshold.
Later efforts found that substantial improvements in perceptual quality could be obtained by
translation invariant methods based on thresholding of an Undecimated Wavelet Transform . These
thresholding techniques were applied to the nonorthogonal wavelet coefficients to reduce artifacts.
Multiwavelets were also used to achieve similar results. Probabilistic models using the statistical
properties of the wavelet coefficient seemed to outperform the thresholding techniques and gained
ground. Recently, much effort has been devoted to Bayesian denoising in Wavelet domain. Hidden
Markov Models and Gaussian Scale Mixtures have also become popular and more research
continues to be published. Tree Structures ordering the wavelet coefficients based on their
magnitude, scale and spatial location have been researched. Data adaptive transforms such as
Independent Component Analysis (ICA) have been explored for sparse shrinkage. The trend
continues to focus on using different statistical models to model the statistical properties of the
wavelet coefficients and its neighbors. Future trend will be towards finding more accurate
probabilistic models for the distribution of non orthogonal wavelet

For the duration of much of their lifetimes, Wilbur and Orville were extremely close. This can be

50. Display Rules Research Paper
Projection of emotion is an essential aspect of communication in society to express one thought
regarding situation given. Yet, this expression of inner thought can be regulated as it is projected
towards audiences. It is processed to substitute the expression that needs to be verbalised or
showncalled display rules. Ekman and Friesen (1969) defined display rules as control over
displayed emotionthrough corrective etiquettes. The nature of display rules can be categorised
by two distinct principles behind the use of it, the first one being pro social and the other is self
protective (Saarni, 1981). Ekman and Friesen (1969) wrote guideline about different reasons
behind the use of display rules, most of the time people are pushed by cultural display rules and

children to use display rules and conceal their emotions. The use of display rules is expected to
increase as the children tested is from older group as has been researched through experiments
such as Australian children test done by Choy (2007); Caroll and Steward (1984). One of the
main discussion of display rules on children is when do they started to learn the use of display
rules as well as the earlier development of it, whether facial or verbal display being understood

51. Research Paper On Honey Bees
The bees that create honey were not natural inhabitants of North America. Europeans brought
honey bees because of their ability to produce honey. They re actually the only insect that can
produce food that humans can use for survival. It contains vitamins, minerals and enzymes that
we can use to survive without needing any other foods. It even has water in it. The common
colony of bees has between twenty thousand and sixty thousand worker bees. In all of those
bees, there s only 1 queen. The colony s workers are all female too. They live about 6 weeks and
perform all the work of the hive. While it seems like the females are all the hive has, that s not
true. There are male worker bees called drones. The drones don t do any work at all though.

52. Gospel Of Matthew Essay
New material begins at the start of Matthew with the birth and lineage of Jesus of Nazareth
through the first 2 chapters. The Sermon on the Mount was then introduced in chapters 5 7.
Jesus refers to himself the Human One often (i.e. chapter 9 verse 6) and even the Anointed One
(chapter 23 verse 10), which seems to contradict the Messianic Secret not only in this text, but also
Mark. The scene of him walking on water added the part where Peter joined him in chapter 14
verses 28 29. There are many new parables and lessons too (i.e. forgiveness chapter 18 verses 21 25
and son of the king s wedding chapter 22 verses 1 15). Jesusalso attacks the Pharisees more as seen
in chapter 23 verses 13 36. The apocalyptic aspect of the gospel of Matthewis expanded up in

53. Negative Effects Of Photoshop On Teens
The Effects of Photoshop on Teens
To stop the negative impact of Photoshop on teenagers, photographers should only use
Photoshop for the good of photography and not to give false images of the social norm. In
opposition, many would state that Photoshop provides beauty and promotes financial in
marketing. The primary objective is to get money for false looks. American culture is highly
obsessed with beauty. Everywhere you go there are advertisements and misleading images.
Whether it s for models or food alterations are used to sell the image. Models appearances on
these photos are admired and sought after from the society. Jessica Walker stated in an interview
I do not think Photoshop is bad I use it to make my photos better, but I don t like what people use
it for...The user and its intentions are bad not the program itself (Walker). The issue is defined as
the images being presented giving a false perception. These photos have been tampered with by
professionals, in which they think that their model is what society wants to see. Both genders are
being affected by the medias view of body image. However, women and teenagers changed the
most. Teenage girls have continuously been presented with images that they are supposed to look
like, which is unrealistic images. Photoshop causes some teens to have self esteem issues and many
other disorders.
In opposition, many would state that Photoshop gives beauty and promotes financial in marketing.
America is surrounded by money. For instance, studies show that America s primary export is
entertainment, while other countries exports include textile, spices, etc. In opposition, many
other countries are putting a stop to the false advertisement of models. For example, France has
proposed a bill asking editors to put a health warning on ads or photos that have been retouched,
so that women know that their bodies can no look that way. Editors of magazines portray their
models as being thin, young, and full faced, which are from technology, not the actual model. For
example, when Meghan Trainor appeared on a past cover of a magazine, she seemed to have a
bigger hip than usual. She then took this issue to the media and put the actual picture side by side.

54. Summary Of Flight Of Persephone By Claudia Kuran
Throughout the history, art has played an irreplaceable role in shaping the culture by allowing
human beings to express themselves. Art is a great tool to thoroughly explore and understand the
story of humanity. Specifically, the oldest artifact was found in Africa, where humanity initiated.
This artifact was dated to 30,000 BC, when humans struggled to survive in harsh nature, yet a
sense of creativity was still kindled in them. Since then, art has become a timeless story teller of
human civilizations, including the Egyptian, Greek and Roman. Furthermore, art also witnessed
glorious time periods in human history, such as the Renaissance. Ancient art was not only a key
milestone in human evolution, but also a limitless source of inspiration for modern artists. In
other words, a contemporary piece of artwork can reflect ideas of art from the past in several
ways. For instance, Flight of Persephone by Claudia Kunin is an artwork that employs modern,
digital art skills, yet greatly influenced by the ancient art spirit. Claudia Kunin is an American
photographer, who was born on August, 1954 in California ( Resume of Claudia Kunin ). She
graduated from University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology ( Resume of

Stylistics and corpus analysis regarded as a huge scientific approach in the field of language in
general and in linguistics field in particular. Every linguist or researcher can use stylistics to prove
or disprove certain claim, as well as, highlighting the style of writing of any author. Corpus analysis
software s rabid evolution makes it the most important tool in stylistics because of the high
accuracy and the time saving. During Charles Dickens time the whole atmosphere and the
