The Decline Of Tattoo In China
This is an example of the decline that is happening throughout the globe due to globalization. Many
people were forced to give up their culture with the invasion of other countries. The Hainan people
were forced to stop tattooing their women once China invaded saying that the tattoos were ugly and
that they were only tattooing the women to keep them from being kidnapped and married. So the
culture of the tattoo was lost.
China isn t the only place that this decline is taking place. Native American and African cultures
have also forgotten what their elder tattoos represent and few of the younger generations have
tattoos adorning their bodies. In 1991, a 5000 year old frozen body was discovered covered in 57
tattoos consisting of lines, dots

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exclusive Jurisdiction
Statutory exclusive jurisdiction is a form of the international jurisdiction, which is always regulated
by the mandatory norms of the law and which may not be overridden by an agreement on
jurisdiction by the defendant s voluntary submission to the different forum. It has imperative
character and stands on the fact that the matters involved in the exclusive jurisdictionrules are
closely linked to the state sovereignty or the territory of the state and in these situations, the state
interest prevails over the private. This means that the state has a special interest to make its courts
hear the dispute despite other controversial circumstances (such as for instance the agreement on
the jurisdiction of a different court), exclude any possibility to transfer the case and the most
important, do not allow the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, which are made
with the violation of the exclusive jurisdiction rules. This special state interest is legally justified
and admissible. Therefore, the provisions of the exclusive jurisdictions prescribe that, if the subject
matter of the dispute is one of the specifically indicated therein, only the courts pointed there have
jurisdiction to hear the dispute and settle it.

Data Collection Method
Research is defined as the organized and thorough analysis that is intended to answer questions
about nursing phenomena (LoBiondo Wood Haber, 2014). There are several different data
collection methods that are used when one is doing research design. For this discussion post I
will choose a type of data collection method and describe a scenario when it would be useful, as
well as potential pitfalls of the method. The observation method is a process of gathering data on
how people act under certain circumstances. This includes collecting data on verbal and non verbal
communication, behavior, and conditions of the environment. This is a great method to use when
collecting information on different cultures. I work on an ambulatory surgical unit and I believe
this method would be useful within my unit because we do admit patients who do not speak
English from time to time. This method would allow us to observe how non English speaking
patients and their families communicate verbally, as well as non verbally. We could study their
body language and how they act with each other and the healthcare team members. One of the
downfalls to this kind of method in regards to how I would use it on my unit, is that it would be
hard to realize what the patient and family members are communicating to one another, unless there
was an interpreter present. In conclusion, there are many different data collection methods that are
used for research. Many arguments in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Hippocampus
Introduction:
The OED defines multitasking as dealing with more than one task at the same time. The brain, in
order to multitask, must receive both actions being performed, and dilute the information before
processing. In order to read and listen to something at the same time, for an example, the brain
must take the information being read by the eyes and the pulses coming from the ears, and reduce
the frequency to keep both tasks going efficiently.
The hippocampus is part of the limbic system that controls the emotions and autonomic nervous
system. The hippocampus controls long term and short term memory. It is located in the medial
temporal lobe of the brain behind the Amygdala (Hayhurst, 2002). The hippocampus links memory
and emotion together, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brain is a muscle that has to have continuous exercise to stay keen and quick with speed.
People in their later years have a harder time remembering things and have trouble applying
simple tasks to their lives because of the damage the brain suffers when not being commonly
trained and kept taken care of. This is a major cause in many mental disorders and diseases
diagnosed in later years such as alzheimers, as well as its stronger partner, dementia, and
depression or anxiety. Studies show that elderly patients showed a much higher percentage of
life expectancy for those who gave their brain a daily challenge such as crossword puzzles and
daily brain teasers, compared to their counterpart of those who did not focus on opening time to
practice using their brain to stay lively and aware. Another major role in keeping the mind young
is for the brain to stay social. The ability to interact with people everyday allows the brain to work
a great deal of an exercise. The vocal conversations and the audial persistence as well as the
movement used when going out and walking around with friends (Healthline Media,

Technological Advancements During The First World War
A nation s ability to fight a modern war is as good as its technological ability. An English inventor
who was of great importance in the invention of the turbojet said these words. I partly agree with
him, as technology is the basis of most aspects of war. If a nation were to fight a war without the
use of technology it would fight with sticks and stones. Technological innovations in the First
World War (WW1) have led to much of the technology that we have today, ranging form the various
weapons modern armies are equipped with to the radios used for communication. If something is
significant then it has an important influence on a thing, such as an event, that will happen in the
future. In this way, did the technological innovations in WW1, such as gas, communications and the
machine gun, not only have an effect on the outcome of the war but also have an effect on how our
world is shaped today?
One technological innovation of the war was the use of poison gases, such as mustard gas. The use
of gas in WW1 was initially of huge importance as it was thought to be the weapon to break the
stalemate. During the war, Gas was a horrific weapon, which had the capability to inflict life
endangering injuries, but as the war drew on, the technology for preventing its effects, such as gas
masks, were invented and improved. Gas in the latter parts of the war was not released from
canisters but was fired in gas filled artillery shells, which led to more accurate and devastating

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Overpopulation
Overpopulation is one of the biggest problems for India. It is the root cause of poverty and poor
health with in the country. The rate of increase of population, especially during the last sixty five
years have been alarming. The standard of living has gone miserably low. Beside the social well
being, the economic prosperity of that specific modern nation is dependent on the rate of its
populationgrowth. A balance growth of population is desirable for economic growth and
development. Overpopulation, on the other hand, puts a strain on the available resources, hinders
economic growth, disturbs the food and water supply, and exhausts the available fuel.
Internationally speaking, population pressure ultimately leads to political tensions, envy and
distrust, and sometimes even to war.
The relationship between the human population and its local environment is unbalanced. This is
problematic because as individuals, we rely on a local area for subsistence; therefore, we are
limited by the productivity of a given area. If productivity does not ... Show more content on

will not be solved without population control . We realize in the context of India s problem, that
birth control is not necessarily the answer to the problem. The answer lies in an integrated
programme, comprising improved land use, conservation of soil, water, forests and grass lands, and
technical assistance. All of these must be undertaken on an international, rather than merely
national scale. The threat presented by the problem of overpopulation to economic progress and
world peace is obvious. A developing country, like India, cannot afford this in its present socio
economic context. The resulting economic frustration will create resentment among poverty tossed
masses. The main goal is to control population growth to promote their own economic well being

demanding for deals reps to locate the substance they need and make them more powerful in
bringing deals to a close. We realized that a comprehensive arrangement would lay on 3 columns, all
incomprehensibly better than the substance frameworks of yester year; (1) insightful and adaptable

The Relationship Between Frida Kahlo And Diego Rivera
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two Mexican artists, entered into a consensually non
monogamous relationship. Frida was very well aware that it was not in Diego to be a
monogamous man. We know this because she answered the question of why she puts up with his
affairs like this; Look, Diego is how he is, and that is how I love him. I cannot love him for what
he is not. (Clancy Sigal). These relationships are basically ways to engage in sex outside of the
relationship but they differ from cheating because the partner is aware. Different types of non
monogamous relationships include partner swapping, swinging and polyamory (Pappas). Studies
are just beginning to be started about consensual non monogamy, but there is some evidence that

Going back to the toast at Frida and Diego s wedding, marriage was stated to be a political act that
occurred in the name of tradition. Monogamy is also enforced by culture, economics, social
factors and it is the normal thing to do (Robinson). As we saw in the movie, Frida s mother was
highly opposed to her marriage to Diego because he had been divorced twice already and because
he was a Communist; her fear was that he would not be good to Frida. Even in society today, when
a man and woman are not monogamous, they are frowned upon or referred to in derogatory terms.
Research shows that promiscuity raised the likelihood of reproduction and survival, but monogamy
worked where there was a low female to male ratio, limiting men s options (Borreli, Are Humans
Naturally Monogamous?).
Until Diego crossed the boundaries of having sex with Frida s sister, their relationship seemed to
work for them. Borreli noted that researchers found non monogamous people have specific
differences in how their brain responded to reward, described as a cheater s high, attributed to
mutations in receptor genes that respond to the hormone vasopressin. Maybe Diego really was on
to something when he told Frida he was physically incapable of being

Fitzgerald took jazz singing to new heights of fame and popularity, influencing the style of jazz

long and prolific career reflects her impeccable skill and style. Her influence is still strong today,
with singers such as Adele, Mica Paris, Lady Gaga, and Lana Del Rey (BBC) citing Fitzgerald as a

Fitzgerald s career took off after World War II, when she joined Norman Granz s Jazz at the

performing on the JATP tours, she was still under contract with Decca, not with Granz s label,
Verve. While under contract with Decca, her recordings mainly consisted of material that was
beneath her capabilities and that contrasted strongly with the work she was doing with JATP. . It
wasn t until Granz bought out her Decca contract in 1955 that her talent was truly shined in the

demonstrating her passion and talent while delighting audiences around the world. Despite her
obvious talent, Fitzgerald was known for her self doubt and frequently about how others viewed
her singing. In contrast to her energetic performances, she led a rather quiet personal life. Her
marriage to Bernie Kornegay in 1941 was annulled in 1943, and then in 1948 she married jazz

To conclude, the idea of teaching writing with CALL definitely offers much in the way of learning
value. Particularly the concept of giving feedback to a learner in a variety of approaches gives
more potential for learning than previously ever predicted. The many different forms of feedback
discussed in this assignment isolate different learningmethods and responses from a student. There
are two studies that look specifically into how effective online learning environments are and both
indicated that automated feedback adds significance to student writing, although students do not
appear to enjoy the process as much as being in a classroom. These studies identify two important
points, that learning how to write should be engaging and that other real people tend to make it
more so. Of these two studies, one was a huge data sample and one was... Show more content on

It was found that embedded audio feedback is not as preferred by the students as written
feedback, even though it offered much more detail to the specific feedback being given. This was
probably to do with the technology but if students were asynchronously checking their writing, it
needs to be simple and attractive for them to enjoy doing it. With written feedback, the information
is present in front of the student to quickly adapt their writing. In regards to synchronous and
asynchronous feedback from a teacher, synchronous was preferred whilst writing, although
asynchronous does have its place. Students struggled to determine the learning value if they were
not correcting their work as they wrote and returning to fix it later made the work more tiresome.
Additionally, peer feedback was less preferred than teacher feedback in online settings. This is
probably because peer feedback is not always trustworthy and often peers do not know how to
correct what needs

Augustine Of Hippo And St. Augustine s Views Of A Single God
Introduction
Many parallels have been drawn between the ancient philosophy known as stoicism and early
Christian thought. They both believe that what ultimately matters in a person is internal, and that
man should not preoccupy himself with earthly belongings. They are both highly individual, and
believe that there is one divine force that is ruling the universe.
And yet, in spite of some essential similarities, there are aspects where the two philosophies
greatly diverge. A peculiar fact is that, although they both seem to have a similar perception of
divinity, their views on the appropriate way to die could hardly be more different. Because death
is a concept indisputably related to faith and conceptions of life after death, and taking into account
the fact that both philosophies can be said to believe in a single God, examining how their beliefs
about afterlife differ may help in understanding why their views on ... Show more content on

That is why the relation of the two has been such an intriguing topic of analysis in both
philosophical and literary contexts.
In the later part of this essay, the work of Augustine of Hippo(or Saint Augustine) will be
discussed. Augustine is considered as one of the most influential Church Fathers, who developed
classical Christian philosophy with his works, in which he drew from Stoic principles, as well as
from Plato and other Hellenistic thinkers.
In De Civitate Dei (The City of God), he addressed issues such as the existence of evil, free will
and the original sin. This and several more of his writings are said to be fundamental for the
formation of Western philosophy, which further adds to the necessity of analyzing the impacts on
his work.

The Study of Honor in the Renaissance Period
The study of honor in Renaissance cities presents an intriguing paradox. On the one hand, honor
seemed more dear than life itself , and provided one of the essential values that shaped the daily
lives of urban elites and ordinary city folk. For wealthy merchants and aspiring artisans, honor
established a code of accepted conduct against which an individual s actions were measured by
his or her peers, subordinates and social superiors. Possessing honor helped to locate a person in
the social hierarchy and endowed one with a sense of personal worth. The culture of honor, which
originated with the medieval aristocracy, directed the everyday activities of urban dwellers of
virtually all social groups from at least the fourteenth century on.... Show more content on

The wide array of ritual behaviors in word and deed reveals both the creativity of those who had
different lines of access to honor resources, as well as the conditionality of the code of honor itself.
Rituals marked important sites for the creation of gender identity. Ritual activities provided the
stage settings for women and men to carry out socially appropriate behaviors marking key points
along the moving edge of their life course. In the process, rituals posited a set of gender
expectations that were complicated by the realities of everyday life, for ritual practices embodying
definitions of masculinity and femininity were alive to other variables such as age, class, personal
circumstances, or changing political relationships. Men and women constructed both each other s
honor and gender identity by means of a complicated network of oppositions and dependencies .

Hamlet s Character Development Throughout his Soliloquies
Soliloquies are common in Shakespeare s plays as it allows characters in the play to speak directly

These soliloquies give the reader the opportunity to understand how Hamlet is struggling with his
father s death and his mother s new marriage. They also allow the audience to grasp the trouble
Hamlet is having while making the decision to live or die as he falls deeper into sadness. However,

Richardson produced, directed and captured all the footage himself. The end result is a multitude of
powerful one on one interviews, archival footage of patients, and candid long takes. Richardson cuts
himself out of the interviews, and edits together strikingly frank sound bytes to showcase his
subjects talking about death and the affect of the law. His use of archival footage primarily
captures his patients when they were healthy, and provides a striking contrast as they seriously
discuss death towards the end of their lives. His use of candid long takes captures some of the
most poignant moments of the film, including the final minutes of one man s life after taking the

the method. 4. For the questions 1 3 we found out a couple different cost functions that could be

Tradition and Ritual in Judiasm Essay
The purpose of this research paper will be to examine how Judaism rituals have helped the religion
remained amongst the most prominent in the world. The use of tradition and rituals has been at the
very core of its existence. Birth, adolescent, marriage and death rituals will be used to highlight how
the Judaismway of life is not dependent on the written word but rather the actions of those who
follow this historic Hebrew religion. The paper will begin with a brief outline of Judaism and its
relationship with God and then continue with how the written word of the Torah has laid the basis
for the many traditions still practiced in Judaism.

Some Jews believe God contains the universe while others believe the universe is God. This non
congruency of belief as to who or what is God has led followers of Judaism to have many names
for God or as often found in Jewish literature a reluctance to even write the word God.
What is his name? what shall I say to then? God said to Moses, `I AM
WHO I AM
Torah
It is extremely difficult for the average person to understand how a religion that cannot agree on a
name for their God could survive. The survival of Judaism for almost 4,000 years with half of its
history existing without a homeland, a temple or a common geographical location can be credit to
their teaching of the Torah. The word Torah is derived from the verb to guide or to teach 3.
Historically Judaism has survived by the older generation teaching the younger generation the heart
of their faith carried and communicated through the way, the path and the teachings of the Torah.
Torah technically refers to the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. These five books are called
Chumash and are divided into 54 portions called a parashah. At least one portion is read in the
synagogues each week. The readings give to each member of the synagogue the basis for their life
practices of the week.
This set of practices is called the Way of Life. The practices and the way the individual connects to
God are called mitzvah. The word itself

Stephen As A Fan Of Lord Byron s Poetry
Stephen s dissent to religious ideologies began while he was attending his first year at Belvedere
College. He was accused of heresy by Mr. Tate, the English master. While in class, Mr. Tate
accused Stephen of heresy, and Stephen knew his essay contained heresy because he, did not
look up. [...] He was conscious of failure and detection [...] (Joyce, 69) After opening Stephen s
essay to find the heresy in question, Mr. Tate proclaimed, Ah! without a possibility of ever
approaching nearer. That s heresy, to which Stephen mumbled, I meant without a possibility of
ever reaching (Joyce, 69). Stephen s intentional act of heresy points to his religious dissent.
Stephen is also a fan of Lord Byron s poetry. One night while walking, Stephen s classmates
began to discuss their favorite poets when one of the boys said that Lord Tennyson was his
favorite. At this Stephen forgot the silent vows he had been making and burst out: Tennyson a
poet! Why, he s only a rhymester! (Joyce, 71) They dismissed Stephen s claims and asked him
who he believes is the best poet, and Stephen said, Byron, of course (Joyce, 71). They all laughed
at Stephen s response and claimed that Byron was a poet for the uneducated people. Stephen
fervently defended his answer and was accused of being a heretic and immoral, like Byron
(Joyce, 71). Byron was viewed as a heretic by many people in the 19th century. Like Milton,
Byron topic of choice was religion, and his writing forced people to actively question

Alternate Septic System
If you don t have city sewage you probably have a septic system. A septic system is a system that
treats removes and disposes of water. Usually this water is from homes and businesses. Septic
systems are responsible for the removal of water waste. If it is working properly it will safely
remove filtered water out of harms way and back into the aquifer. If a septic system is not working
properly it can be dangerous it may cause the near by water table to overflow causing flooding and
water contamination. If this occurs people often must resort to an alternative septic system.
An alternative septic system is simply a different system than the traditional system. In a traditional
septic system the water from the house leads into the septic tank where bacteria is broken down and
eventually it forms three different layers. The bottom layer is made up of solids, this layer is
called sludge, a middle layer is liquid with some organic matter, and a top with floating solids.
Devices called baffles allow the middle layer of the tank to flow out into a perforated pipe and it
takes it to a far away field. This safely removes harmful water from nearby houses. The remainder
of the waste stays in the tank for further break down. That is how a traditional drainfield system
works. If this septic system is not suited for ones property due to the geography of the land or
limited space one may need to use an alternate septic system. There are many types of alternative
septic systems some of

Different Types Of Cholesterol Levels
Reading all of this might be a little bit difficult to understand however, if you do not know of the
different types of cholesterol. The two main types, as found on WebMD, are low density
lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), also known as the bad cholesterol, and high density lipoprotein
cholesterol (HDL), also called good cholesterol( Understanding Cholesterol Numbers ). The weird
factor about running is that while it does reduce the levels of LDL, it increases the levels of
HDL. The American Heart Association considers HDL to be the good cholesterol because it may
protect you from heart disease by transporting cholesterol out of your arteries (Cavazos 1). This

Running can also help the population of patients with heart disease by helping to improve their
oxygen intake. As found in an article written by Jonathan Myers, it was stated that As one s
ability to transport and use oxygen improves, regular daily activities can be performed with less
fatigue. This is particularly important for patients with cardiovascular disease, whose exercise
capacity is typically lower than that of healthy individuals (1). So not only can running help reduce
the chances of accumulating heart disease over the years, but it can also help certain patients who
unfortunately already have coronary heart disease (CHD). It may be surprising to hear, but the
way running effects your physical body system, also leads to affecting the brain. The amount of
oxygen your body produces can improve the amount of oxygen and minerals your brain consumes.
This leads into the next benefit of running. Running not only has physical health benefits, as listed
above, but is also known for having psychological benefits. One of the most commonly known
benefits is the runners high . This is a happy and energizing sensation that some runners feel once
they get done with a run. The reason this occurs is as described in an article by Keith Hillman as
through the production of certain hormones associated with feeling good. Running will help you to
produce serotonin and dopamine (1). The amounts of serotonin and dopamine are the

Analysis of Elizabeth Bishops the Moose
Elizabeth Bishop s The Moose is a narrative poem of 168 lines. Its twenty eight six line stanzas
are not rigidly structured. Lines vary in length from four to eight syllables, but those of five or six
syllables predominate. The pattern of stresses is lax enough almost to blur the distinction between
verse and prose; the rhythm is that of a low keyed speaking voice hovering over the descriptive
details. The eyewitness account is meticulous and restrained.
The poem concerns a bus traveling to Boston through the landscape and towns of New Brunswick.
While driving through the woods, the bus stops because a moose has wandered onto the road. The
appearance of the animal interrupts the peaceful hum of elderly passengers voices. ... Show more

Thus the first part, devoted to the landscape, is richly descriptive, replete with qualifying epithets
that, toward the end (in line 75 and in line 81), come in by threes, like beads on a string. In the
second part, dealing with the passengers plight, learned, latinate words such as divagation, auditory,
hallucination, eternity, and acceptance signal the presence of the narrator commentator. In the third
partВ—the one reserved for the mooseВ—epithets return. In the climactic twenty fourth stanza, the
most distinctly poetic devicesВ—explicit comparisonsВ—are bestowed on the protagonist: high as
a church,/ homely as a house. Moreover, the four additional epithets lavished on the moose
contribute to the grandeur of its appearance: towering, antlerless, and grand, otherworldly.
By careful calibration and timing of her tropes, Bishop succeeds superbly in achieving her ends.
Contrast is attained by her control over all compartments of language, and her austere, restrained
tone and strategy of deferral and understatement are dramatically effective.
Themes and Meanings The Moose is ultimately about the human need to be purged and, if
possible, cured of selfhood. Self absorption or narcissism is not only a passing malaise afflicting
teenagers. Older people regard themselves in the mirror of their

1.What are the terrestrial planets?
The terrestrial planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These planets are composed primarily
of silicate rocks with structures consisting of a central metallic core, mostly iron, with a
surrounding silicate mantle.
2.How were Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune formed?
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune were formed by different types of rock and frozen materials
(water, ammonia, and methane). These materials were once planetesmals, which formed from the
rocky, metallic solid materials that were able to survive the collapse of the solar nebula which
formed our solar system.

4.What are the characteristics of the inner planets? How do these vary from the outer planets?
Inner planets all contain a core, mantle, and crust. These planets are very dense and rocky. In
comparison to outer planets, inner planets are smaller, denser, and rockier.
5.What evidence is there to support that planets exist outside of our Solar System?
The discovery of other stars in early stages of formation support the fact that planets exist outside
of our solar system. These stars, surrounded by disks of gas and dust, are called proplyds.
According to astronomers, these disks are like that which the solar nebula was believed to be

This past week, I had the opportunity to experience a magnificent play called Born Yesterday by
Garson Kanin. This performance was the third of three plays I saw at the Arizona Repertory
Theatre. The other two plays were Epic Proportions by Larry Coen and David Crane and Hands
on a Hardbody by Doug Wright. These were the first plays I have been to, not only while attending
the University of Arizona, but in my generation as a teenager. All together, these performances were
amazing and have brought a newly improved insight to my perception of theatre. The hard work and
dedication by the actors, directors, producers, cast members, and sound developers were absolutely
incredible and I have tremendous respect for their efforts during the overall sequence of producing
the plays. The most recent performance I saw, Born Yesterday, can be described and reflected on

I decided to arrive a half hour early to witness all the elements of the stage, audience, and theater

and refugees have no right to live in the United States, while others yield completely different,

restrictions on immigrants who desire freedom in the form of fleeing to this country. Those who
oppose this claim believe immigrants will debilitate the economy, enter the country illegally, and

Essay Comparing Larkin And Elizabeth Jennings
In this essay I shall explore the way poets Phillip Larkin and Elizabeth Jennings both show love.
For Larkin I shall look at An Arundel tomb and Wild Oats and for Jennings I shall look at Absence
and Disguises.
I will consider the way in which the two poets deal with the idea of love as timeless.I will also
explore themes of authenticity and identity in their poems about love. In addition I will consider the
extent to which their gender may have affected their view of love.
In similarities I think that An Arudel Tomb and Absence are both about the unbreakable bond of
love regardless of the period of time.Disguises and Wild Oats are different because Disguises talks
about regret and not being ones true self Wild Oats on the other hand talks about promiscuity.
However, there are some similarities in the sense of him not pursing his real love Is not being
himself.
Larkin was born in 1922 in an Industrial city which was heavily bombed during World War II. This

Lack Of Fear In Lolita
Dr. Stanton Samenow wrote, You cannot be other than who you are. A crime that appears out of
character can be understood only by discerning what the character of the individual truly is .
Deciphering the characteristics that will identify a criminal can be very situational. Criminals
actions all depend on who they decide to be in the world around them. For law breakers like
Humbert Humbert, appeasing his pedophiliac urges becomes his main goal once setting his eyes on
his landlord s daughter, Dolores. Although Humbert recognizes the harm in his sexual affections, he

Although bombarded in many situations by the landlord, Charlotte Haze, Humbert manages to
sexually assault Lolita without being caught. He narrates his thoughts during the encounters and
recalls ignoring the fear of being discovered in the act. During his first sexual engagement with
Lolita he mentions that, there seemed to be nothing to prevent [his] muscular thumb from reaching
the hot hollow of her groin just as you might tickle and caress a giggling child just that (Nabokov
61). Humbert points out that he feels nothing preventing him from touching and groping Lolita.
Despite knowing that his actions are immoral, Humbert continues them, confident enough to not
fear the consequences that could happen. This criminal thinking error Humbert shows grants
him the ability to push the boundary when advancing sexually on Lolita. After gaining full
possession of now orphaned Dolores Haze, Humbert traps her in a shared hotel room with an
extensive plan to rape her. Despite her slight stirring and growing understanding of his sly abuse,
Humbert still, after a long stirless vigil , had no fear when moving his, tentacles towards her

ravenous bulk so close to her that [he] felt the aura of her bare shoulder like a warm breath upon
[his] cheek (Nabokov 130). Lolita had previously hinted at recognizing his strange steps to get
closer romantically and physically to her yet, Humbert continued to make his moves. At this point
in novel, Humbert indirectly eliminates his one true way of being caught and reported to
authorities, Charlotte Haze. Without her, displays of affection towards Lolita could be made
publically in their space without fear. Not only does Humbert Humbert show no fear with the
watchful eye of Charlotte around, but even more with

Baumol Model Of Cash Management
It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance
under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash
balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity
costs) and the transactional costs.
Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash.
Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when
the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because
it is the interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities.
Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that
the firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at
regular intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able
to change to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of
transactions the same. The firm must also be aware of it opportunity cost when holding cash. The
opportunity cost should stay constant for a long period of time.

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) introduce a new way to interact with the physical
environment. The security in WSNs became an attractive area of research. WSNs are susceptible to
a wide range of malicious attacks. At present ECC is considered for secure communications, which
is having good potential for WSN security due to its smaller key size and its high strength of
security. Unfortunately, the execution time of ECC is more which is not suitable for more number
of applications. A number of other security mechanisms have been proposed for sensor networks to
provide data confidentiality, namely Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption
Standard (DES). In this paper, we propose an algorithm, which is compared and analyzed with the
existing ECC and AES to provide better security with authenticated sensor nodes. The
authentication is done with a secret code. The proposed algorithm will ensure the secure
communication with authenticated devices. The analysis results shows that the scheme works
better than the common existent schemes with better utilization of available memory.

They gave him only one bowl of porridge three times a day and an onion twice a week. On
Sundays, he had a small piece of bread. One day Oliver asked for another bowl of porridge. The

The Islamic Caliphates During The Post Prophethood Time Essay
As the days of the Prophet Muhammad s life came to an end, the state of the Muslim community
demanded for sincere and rightful authority. Therefore, a caliph, someone claiming control over the
Muslims, was appointed. Although the caliphs were not prophets, their centralized purpose was to
continue the straight path of Prophet Muhammad, politically, economically, and spiritually. During
the rule of the 4 caliphates, Abu Baker, Umar Ibn Al Khattab, Uthman Ibn Affan
and Ali, the
Muslims underwent a series of developments, movements, and conquests. The Islamic caliphates in
the post Prophethood time period, provided leadership and social unity for Middle Eastern
communities to follow into modern times. The caliphates represented an ideal example through
their political, economical, and religious enforcements. When the Prophet was ordered through
revelation to make the message of Islampublic, hostility to the message rose and in response, the
Prophet instilled hope amongst the muslims. Early revelations stressed the existence of one god
and presented His attributes, which laid out basic elements of social and personal morality. These
revelations redirected the individual from materialistic goals to a life dedicated to worship. In the
tenth year of Hijra, the Prophet led 30,000 people on a pilgrimage to Mecca. On the plain of
Arafat, the Prophet stood up and gave the farewell sermon. In the sermon he encouraged muslims to
remain united, you are one brotherhood all together ,

The Government And Specific Interest Groups Create Public...
In the United States, the government and specific interest groups create public policies to solve
internal problems and protect their citizens. Public policies can include any action, plan, or rule,
which relates to issues of domestic national importance. Once a certain issue becomes a concern
for a significant amount of people, it becomes a component of the national agenda, which is what
the public wants the government to acknowledge. Many of these problems are addressed because
they negatively affect a significant amount of people (Sparknotes: How Policy Gets Made). For
the past few years, one of the major issues in the United States is illegal immigration. Unlike today,
a person immigrating illegally was not a major issue years ago. Today unfortunately, there are so
many illegal immigrants from all over the world that it has become an issue no one can completely
control.
It was recorded in 2012 that approximately 40.8 million illegal immigrants live in the United States,
which makes up thirteen percent of the country. Data on the nativity of the U.S. population were
first collected 1850 decennial census. That year, there were 2.2 million immigrants in the United
States, representing almost ten percent of the total population (Nwosu, Chiamaka). What is the
total number of immigrants that have entered the United States since 2000? Approximately thirty
percent of the 40.8 million residing in America entered between 2000 and 2009 (Nwosu,
Chiamaka). The majority of the

The Spot Of The Corner
The Spot in the Corner Life is made of a huge collection of experiences, whether good or bad, that
leave an impression on oneself. Some of these experiences are recorded in memory, and others
simply forgotten. In any case, all these experiences take part in a particular place. So, depending
on the type of experience, these specific places acquire some significance. For example, many
married couples can identify the exact location where they decided to join their lives as well as
they can remember exactly where they got the first kiss. All memory has a context of space and
time; for this reason, with the passage of time we can give more meaning to some places than
others. When I was younger, I did not realize the significance of many places that were an
important part of my life until I was thousands of miles away from them. But I can identify one
particular place that has been connected to my life experiences for a long time. My most
significant place was a corner in the second floor s living room of my house in my hometown in
Bolivia. This particular place marked the changing rhythm of my life, since I was a little boy
until I left my country. In the beginning this place was only one spot in the west part of a living
room that almost never was used. The first time I saw this spot it was only a boring place with an
old bookshelf with four drawers and a picture hanging on the wall. The first part that caught my
attention in that place was just that picture, which at first

When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I
shall be content with silence. Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams is a well known photographer and
environmentalist who helped to improve photography with his techniques, and passion for the
subject. Despite his mother s disapproval of his passion, he still stuck through and followed his
heart. He might not have impacted his mother s life, but he impacted the history of photography.
Ansel AdamsEarly Life was isolated and somewhat lonely, despite this he still found himself
inspired by nature. He was born in San Francisco, California when his mom wos 40. Due to his
elderly parents, affluent family history and the live in presence of his mother s maiden sister, the

Oranges by Gary Soto Essay
Oranges
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm
laborers. Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through
chores, such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an illiterate
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start

Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The
boy had to give up his orange because he didn t have enough money. He told his girlfriend that
she can chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime,
now the boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed
and cheep in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the
counter for the saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he s around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

Argumentative Essay On Winston Churchill
He is thought to be one of the most controversial personalities of world s history. Often referred
to as the British Bulldog , he has been voted as the greatest Briton of all times . Some people
concern him as defender of democracy and an incredible orator, while others criticize him strongly
for his actions during his being in power. We obviously refer to Winston Churchill
, a man who left a
complicated legacy behind him and whose personality and choices influenced and still do not only
British politics, but the whole world s ones.
To begin with, Churchill was politically active from an early age. Twice named Prime Minister of
the United Kingdom, he is best known for his participation and his crucial role during World War II.

By many he is concerned as an imperialist, a belligerent leader. He planned to conquest more
countries and expend the British Empire, because he insisted that the Aryan stock is bound to
triumph . Therefore, it is very likely that his participation in the war was the part of a wider plan
and a deeper motive. He did not just aim to defend his country from a rival. He fought for a raw
white supremacism , as expressed by Richard Toye in his book Churchill s Empire (2010).
It is true that the British leader believed in the superiority of the white race, which explains why
his policies reflect racism as well as fascism. A pretty good example that justifies this opinion is
his attitude towards the starving Indians in 1943. The famine in Bengal broke out because of his
decision to divert food supplies from India to the front lines in Europe during the war and, as a
result, millions of Indians starved to death. Nevertheless, Churchill was indifferent and insisted that
it was their own fault for breeding like

What Are The Factors That Affect The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement brought to light of a lot of issues that were affecting the people of the
United States. These issues included racism and women s rights, and people who felt they were
discriminated against began to challenge how they were treated. One such group was the National
Organization for Women, a group which fought to ensure equality for women. The National
Organization for Women had a lasting impact on the Civil Rights Movement, and the history of
women.
A group of four women who felt like the country needed to change the way women were treated
took action and started the National Organization for Women. While many women still worked,
they were paid less than their male counterparts. Many employers didn t view women s pay as
necessary for the family, they saw it as extra money the family could use. Marriage Bar was used
by many employers, where many married women could not work certain occupations. Even though
many still worked and kept their jobs, they were paid very little and not treated equally.
The National Organization for Women was founded by a group of feminist in 1966. This group
included author, Betty Friedan, who wrote The Feminine Mystique. The book is credited with
starting second wave feminism. Another notable woman who was involved was Pauli Murray, a law

our nation into a battle for the abolition of slavery. Many Northerners did not like the idea of

Socialism Vs Communism
In 1848 Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote The Communist Manifesto , and even had it
published. Their main goal in writing this book was to completely get rid of capitalism. Karl
Marx did not believe in social classes. He believed that everyone should live equal lives and
personal ownership should not be allowed. According to Marx, everything should belong to the
community, or working class. Communismis a more complex and advanced version of socialism.
Although both economic systems believe in putting the most important means of productionin the
hands of the people, whether its directly or through the government, they differ from each other in
many ways. While in a communist society ownership is ascribed to the state or community, a

There is also an efficient distribution of resources. This is possible because the government owns
all means of production. Even if you graduated from one of the best colleges around, you would
still have the same chance of getting the same job as someone who does not even have a high
school education. Every person is paid the same amount no matter what job they have. Since the
government dictates the economic structure, it remains internally stable.
Individual needs would be put under any needs of the society. The government monitors
everything, especially computers. Privacy almost does not exist. Communism also eliminates
any competition, which is not healthy for any society. People need to be able to make goals
higher than what they are allowed in order to keep motivated and actually take pride in their
work. If everyone is paid the same regardless of what they do, the economy will become lazy and
nothing with be of good quality if it does not matter to begin with. It is not a successful economic
system as a whole.

production and control how things are done. This affects everyone in the economy and their

  • 2. The Decline Of Tattoo In China This is an example of the decline that is happening throughout the globe due to globalization. Many people were forced to give up their culture with the invasion of other countries. The Hainan people were forced to stop tattooing their women once China invaded saying that the tattoos were ugly and that they were only tattooing the women to keep them from being kidnapped and married. So the culture of the tattoo was lost. China isn t the only place that this decline is taking place. Native American and African cultures have also forgotten what their elder tattoos represent and few of the younger generations have tattoos adorning their bodies. In 1991, a 5000 year old frozen body was discovered covered in 57 tattoos consisting of lines, dots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exclusive Jurisdiction Statutory exclusive jurisdiction is a form of the international jurisdiction, which is always regulated by the mandatory norms of the law and which may not be overridden by an agreement on jurisdiction by the defendant s voluntary submission to the different forum. It has imperative character and stands on the fact that the matters involved in the exclusive jurisdictionrules are closely linked to the state sovereignty or the territory of the state and in these situations, the state interest prevails over the private. This means that the state has a special interest to make its courts hear the dispute despite other controversial circumstances (such as for instance the agreement on the jurisdiction of a different court), exclude any possibility to transfer the case and the most important, do not allow the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, which are made with the violation of the exclusive jurisdiction rules. This special state interest is legally justified and admissible. Therefore, the provisions of the exclusive jurisdictions prescribe that, if the subject matter of the dispute is one of the specifically indicated therein, only the courts pointed there have jurisdiction to hear the dispute and settle it. 1.1Characteristics Statutory ... • 4. Data Collection Method Research is defined as the organized and thorough analysis that is intended to answer questions about nursing phenomena (LoBiondo Wood Haber, 2014). There are several different data collection methods that are used when one is doing research design. For this discussion post I will choose a type of data collection method and describe a scenario when it would be useful, as well as potential pitfalls of the method. The observation method is a process of gathering data on how people act under certain circumstances. This includes collecting data on verbal and non verbal communication, behavior, and conditions of the environment. This is a great method to use when collecting information on different cultures. I work on an ambulatory surgical unit and I believe this method would be useful within my unit because we do admit patients who do not speak English from time to time. This method would allow us to observe how non English speaking patients and their families communicate verbally, as well as non verbally. We could study their body language and how they act with each other and the healthcare team members. One of the downfalls to this kind of method in regards to how I would use it on my unit, is that it would be hard to realize what the patient and family members are communicating to one another, unless there was an interpreter present. In conclusion, there are many different data collection methods that are used for research. Many arguments in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2014). • 5. The Hippocampus Introduction: The OED defines multitasking as dealing with more than one task at the same time. The brain, in order to multitask, must receive both actions being performed, and dilute the information before processing. In order to read and listen to something at the same time, for an example, the brain must take the information being read by the eyes and the pulses coming from the ears, and reduce the frequency to keep both tasks going efficiently. The hippocampus is part of the limbic system that controls the emotions and autonomic nervous system. The hippocampus controls long term and short term memory. It is located in the medial temporal lobe of the brain behind the Amygdala (Hayhurst, 2002). The hippocampus links memory and emotion together, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brain is a muscle that has to have continuous exercise to stay keen and quick with speed. People in their later years have a harder time remembering things and have trouble applying simple tasks to their lives because of the damage the brain suffers when not being commonly trained and kept taken care of. This is a major cause in many mental disorders and diseases diagnosed in later years such as alzheimers, as well as its stronger partner, dementia, and depression or anxiety. Studies show that elderly patients showed a much higher percentage of life expectancy for those who gave their brain a daily challenge such as crossword puzzles and daily brain teasers, compared to their counterpart of those who did not focus on opening time to practice using their brain to stay lively and aware. Another major role in keeping the mind young is for the brain to stay social. The ability to interact with people everyday allows the brain to work a great deal of an exercise. • 6. Technological Advancements During The First World War A nation s ability to fight a modern war is as good as its technological ability. An English inventor who was of great importance in the invention of the turbojet said these words. I partly agree with him, as technology is the basis of most aspects of war. If a nation were to fight a war without the use of technology it would fight with sticks and stones. Technological innovations in the First World War (WW1) have led to much of the technology that we have today, ranging form the various weapons modern armies are equipped with to the radios used for communication. If something is significant then it has an important influence on a thing, such as an event, that will happen in the future. In this way, did the technological innovations in WW1, such as gas, communications and the machine gun, not only have an effect on the outcome of the war but also have an effect on how our world is shaped today? One technological innovation of the war was the use of poison gases, such as mustard gas. The use of gas in WW1 was initially of huge importance as it was thought to be the weapon to break the stalemate. During the war, Gas was a horrific weapon, which had the capability to inflict life endangering injuries, but as the war drew on, the technology for preventing its effects, such as gas masks, were invented and improved. Gas in the latter parts of the war was not released from canisters but was fired in gas filled artillery shells, which led to more accurate and devastating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rate of increase of population, especially during the last sixty five years have been alarming. The standard of living has gone miserably low. Beside the social well being, the economic prosperity of that specific modern nation is dependent on the rate of its populationgrowth. A balance growth of population is desirable for economic growth and development. Overpopulation, on the other hand, puts a strain on the available resources, hinders economic growth, disturbs the food and water supply, and exhausts the available fuel. Internationally speaking, population pressure ultimately leads to political tensions, envy and distrust, and sometimes even to war. All of these must be undertaken on an international, rather than merely national scale. The threat presented by the problem of overpopulation to economic progress and world peace is obvious. Frida was very well aware that it was not in Diego to be a monogamous man. We know this because she answered the question of why she puts up with his affairs like this; Look, Diego is how he is, and that is how I love him. I cannot love him for what he is not. (Clancy Sigal). These relationships are basically ways to engage in sex outside of the relationship but they differ from cheating because the partner is aware. Going back to the toast at Frida and Diego s wedding, marriage was stated to be a political act that occurred in the name of tradition. Monogamy is also enforced by culture, economics, social factors and it is the normal thing to do (Robinson). As we saw in the movie, Frida s mother was highly opposed to her marriage to Diego because he had been divorced twice already and because he was a Communist; her fear was that he would not be good to Frida. Even in society today, when a man and woman are not monogamous, they are frowned upon or referred to in derogatory terms. Research shows that promiscuity raised the likelihood of reproduction and survival, but monogamy worked where there was a low female to male ratio, limiting men s options (Borreli, Are Humans Naturally Monogamous?). Until Diego crossed the boundaries of having sex with Frida s sister, their relationship seemed to work for them. Borreli noted that researchers found non monogamous people have specific differences in how their brain responded to reward, described as a cheater s high, attributed to mutations in receptor genes that respond to the hormone vasopressin. While under contract with Decca, her recordings mainly consisted of material that was beneath her capabilities and that contrasted strongly with the work she was doing with JATP. . It wasn t until Granz bought out her Decca contract in 1955 that her talent was truly shined in the recordings. Under Verve recordings, Fitzgerald prospered and frequently performed, demonstrating her passion and talent while delighting audiences around the world. Despite her obvious talent, Fitzgerald was known for her self doubt and frequently about how others viewed her singing. In contrast to her energetic performances, she led a rather quiet personal life. Her marriage to Bernie Kornegay in 1941 was annulled in 1943, and then in 1948 she married jazz bassist Ray Brown. Particularly the concept of giving feedback to a learner in a variety of approaches gives more potential for learning than previously ever predicted. The many different forms of feedback discussed in this assignment isolate different learningmethods and responses from a student. There are two studies that look specifically into how effective online learning environments are and both indicated that automated feedback adds significance to student writing, although students do not appear to enjoy the process as much as being in a classroom. These studies identify two important points, that learning how to write should be engaging and that other real people tend to make it more so. With written feedback, the information is present in front of the student to quickly adapt their writing. In regards to synchronous and asynchronous feedback from a teacher, synchronous was preferred whilst writing, although asynchronous does have its place. Students struggled to determine the learning value if they were not correcting their work as they wrote and returning to fix it later made the work more tiresome. • 15. Augustine Of Hippo And St. Augustine s Views Of A Single God Introduction Many parallels have been drawn between the ancient philosophy known as stoicism and early Christian thought. They both believe that what ultimately matters in a person is internal, and that man should not preoccupy himself with earthly belongings. They are both highly individual, and believe that there is one divine force that is ruling the universe. And yet, in spite of some essential similarities, there are aspects where the two philosophies greatly diverge. A peculiar fact is that, although they both seem to have a similar perception of divinity, their views on the appropriate way to die could hardly be more different. Because death is a concept indisputably related to faith and conceptions of life after death, and taking into account the fact that both philosophies can be said to believe in a single God, examining how their beliefs about afterlife differ may help in understanding why their views on ... In De Civitate Dei (The City of God), he addressed issues such as the existence of evil, free will and the original sin. On the one hand, honor seemed more dear than life itself , and provided one of the essential values that shaped the daily lives of urban elites and ordinary city folk. For wealthy merchants and aspiring artisans, honor established a code of accepted conduct against which an individual s actions were measured by his or her peers, subordinates and social superiors. Possessing honor helped to locate a person in the social hierarchy and endowed one with a sense of personal worth. In the process, rituals posited a set of gender expectations that were complicated by the realities of everyday life, for ritual practices embodying definitions of masculinity and femininity were alive to other variables such as age, class, personal circumstances, or changing political relationships. Usually this water is from homes and businesses. Septic systems are responsible for the removal of water waste. If it is working properly it will safely remove filtered water out of harms way and back into the aquifer. If a septic system is not working properly it can be dangerous it may cause the near by water table to overflow causing flooding and water contamination. If this occurs people often must resort to an alternative septic system. An alternative septic system is simply a different system than the traditional system. In a traditional septic system the water from the house leads into the septic tank where bacteria is broken down and eventually it forms three different layers. The bottom layer is made up of solids, this layer is called sludge, a middle layer is liquid with some organic matter, and a top with floating solids. Devices called baffles allow the middle layer of the tank to flow out into a perforated pipe and it takes it to a far away field. This safely removes harmful water from nearby houses. The remainder of the waste stays in the tank for further break down. That is how a traditional drainfield system works. This poem defines the nation for its longstanding relationship with refugees, yet, the issue has created controversy throughout the years, specifically during the recent presidential election. Many believe immigrants and refugees have no right to live in the United States, while others yield completely different, polarized opinions. Personally, I believe that the United States should not enforce extreme restrictions on immigrants who desire freedom in the form of fleeing to this country. Those who oppose this claim believe immigrants will debilitate the economy, enter the country illegally, and potentially harm Americans. However, these individuals do not take into account how America was built in the first place, how to effectively strengthen the nation s borders, and the factual data that proves the majority of immigrants do not threaten the safety of Americans. First and foremost, the foundation of America was undoubtedly built by the hands of refugees when the Puritans fled England in an attempt to escape religious persecution by Queen Mary I. Ever ... • 35. Essay Comparing Larkin And Elizabeth Jennings In this essay I shall explore the way poets Phillip Larkin and Elizabeth Jennings both show love. For Larkin I shall look at An Arundel tomb and Wild Oats and for Jennings I shall look at Absence and Disguises. I will consider the way in which the two poets deal with the idea of love as timeless.I will also explore themes of authenticity and identity in their poems about love. In addition I will consider the extent to which their gender may have affected their view of love. In similarities I think that An Arudel Tomb and Absence are both about the unbreakable bond of love regardless of the period of time.Disguises and Wild Oats are different because Disguises talks about regret and not being ones true self Wild Oats on the other hand talks about promiscuity. However, there are some similarities in the sense of him not pursing his real love Is not being himself. Larkin was born in 1922 in an Industrial city which was heavily bombed during World War II. • 36. Lack Of Fear In Lolita Dr. Stanton Samenow wrote, You cannot be other than who you are. A crime that appears out of character can be understood only by discerning what the character of the individual truly is . Deciphering the characteristics that will identify a criminal can be very situational. Criminals actions all depend on who they decide to be in the world around them. For law breakers like Humbert Humbert, appeasing his pedophiliac urges becomes his main goal once setting his eyes on his landlord s daughter, Dolores. Although bombarded in many situations by the landlord, Charlotte Haze, Humbert manages to sexually assault Lolita without being caught. Humbert points out that he feels nothing preventing him from touching and groping Lolita. Despite knowing that his actions are immoral, Humbert continues them, confident enough to not fear the consequences that could happen. This criminal thinking error Humbert shows grants him the ability to push the boundary when advancing sexually on Lolita. After gaining full possession of now orphaned Dolores Haze, Humbert traps her in a shared hotel room with an extensive plan to rape her. Despite her slight stirring and growing understanding of his sly abuse, Humbert still, after a long stirless vigil , had no fear when moving his, tentacles towards her again, and this time the creak of the mattress did not awake her. [He] managed to bring [his] ravenous bulk so close to her that [he] felt the aura of her bare shoulder like a warm breath upon [his] cheek (Nabokov 130). Lolita had previously hinted at recognizing his strange steps to get closer romantically and physically to her yet, Humbert continued to make his moves. At this point in novel, Humbert indirectly eliminates his one true way of being caught and reported to authorities, Charlotte Haze. Without her, displays of affection towards Lolita could be made publically in their space without fear. • 37. Baumol Model Of Cash Management It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity costs) and the transactional costs. Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash. Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because it is the interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities. Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that the firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at regular intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able to change to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of transactions the same. A Simple, Fast and Memory Efficient Algorithm for Secure Communications in Wireless Sensor Networks Anusha Peddigari, Archana Tandra and L.K. Suresh Kumar Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Email: suresh.lokhande, anushapeddigari94, archanatandra95 {@gmail.com} Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) introduce a new way to interact with the physical environment. The security in WSNs became an attractive area of research. WSNs are susceptible to a wide range of malicious attacks. At present ECC is considered for secure communications, which is having good potential for WSN security due to its smaller key size and its high strength of security. Unfortunately, the execution time of ECC is more which is not suitable for more number of applications. A number of other security mechanisms have been proposed for sensor networks to provide data confidentiality, namely Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption Standard (DES). In this paper, we propose an algorithm, which is compared and analyzed with the existing ECC and AES to provide better security with authenticated sensor nodes. The authentication is done with a secret code. The proposed algorithm will ensure the secure communication with authenticated devices. The analysis results shows that the scheme works better than the common existent schemes with better utilization of available memory. Keywords Elliptic Curve Cryptography, ... This has been backed up by Jacques Semelin, who cites a banality of good in contrast to Hannah Arendt s often quoted banality of evil suggesting that some people consider themselves connected to all human beings through the bonds of common humanity. • 43. The Islamic Caliphates During The Post Prophethood Time Essay As the days of the Prophet Muhammad s life came to an end, the state of the Muslim community demanded for sincere and rightful authority. Therefore, a caliph, someone claiming control over the Muslims, was appointed. Although the caliphs were not prophets, their centralized purpose was to continue the straight path of Prophet Muhammad, politically, economically, and spiritually. During the rule of the 4 caliphates, Abu Baker, Umar Ibn Al Khattab, Uthman Ibn Affan and Ali, the Muslims underwent a series of developments, movements, and conquests. The Islamic caliphates in the post Prophethood time period, provided leadership and social unity for Middle Eastern communities to follow into modern times. The caliphates represented an ideal example through their political, economical, and religious enforcements. When the Prophet was ordered through revelation to make the message of Islampublic, hostility to the message rose and in response, the Prophet instilled hope amongst the muslims. Early revelations stressed the existence of one god and presented His attributes, which laid out basic elements of social and personal morality. These revelations redirected the individual from materialistic goals to a life dedicated to worship. In the tenth year of Hijra, the Prophet led 30,000 people on a pilgrimage to Mecca. In the United States, the government and specific interest groups create public policies to solve internal problems and protect their citizens. Public policies can include any action, plan, or rule, which relates to issues of domestic national importance. Many of these problems are addressed because they negatively affect a significant amount of people (Sparknotes: How Policy Gets Made). Some of these experiences are recorded in memory, and others simply forgotten. In any case, all these experiences take part in a particular place. So, depending on the type of experience, these specific places acquire some significance. For example, many married couples can identify the exact location where they decided to join their lives as well as they can remember exactly where they got the first kiss. All memory has a context of space and time; for this reason, with the passage of time we can give more meaning to some places than others.
