2. Transformative Power Of Travel
The Transformative Power of Travel Travel has the ability to take an individual
out of their mundane routine and places them into a whole new world where their
brains are free from the repetition that keeps them trapped. This sense of
independence allows them to explore and discover their true identity apart from
their daily life. Pico Iyer s short essay, Why We Travel discusses the notion that
travel is a complex, powerful, and necessary tool for self discovery and knowledge.
Alfred Hitchcock s 1950 s film North by Northwest tells the tale of mistaken identity
of a two timed divorced advertisingexecutive, Roger Thornhill, who finds himself on
the run and in constant imminent danger. One of Iyer s main topics of travel is the

Then, Roger gives a face to the name George Kaplan by stepping into George
Kaplans hotel room, and essentially into his life. Everyone around him slowly fails
to recognize Roger as Roger, but as George. His face is even plastered on the
newspapers as murder, George Kaplan. Policemen see his face and recognize him
as George Kaplan, not Roger. With this absolute new identity, Roger is forced to
notice the manipulative behaviors that others impose on him as he loses his
status. Roger discovers that the professor did not fully disclose that by putting
himself in danger he would not actually save Kendall. These heroic actions actually
sent his love off to another country with an evil man. Roger grew furious. While at
the beginning of the movie, Roger felt no disregard for giving a man false hope of
doing something good. However, now that the professor turned the tables and did
the same thing to Roger he begins to fight for Kendall by stating that this is no way
to treat a woman. This marks a major character transformation in Roger Thornhill.
Not only does Roger discover what manipulation feels like, but he also becomes a
man that truly cares for a woman rather than just seeing them as pawns. He
essentially sees his reflection in the water and realizes that he doesn t agree with
manipulation and the poor treatment of women as sexual symbols for even the
3. Ritz Carlton Environment Analysis
Environment analysis
The Ritz Carlton Hotel will inevitably have a negative impact on the environment due
to its large size, hence the considerable pollution and the waste which would be
produced during its construction and operation. Green house gas is a pollutant that
being continually produced throughout the entire life cycle of the hotel. Initially,
transportation of construction material and construction are both carbon dioxide high
emitting activities. During the operation, the tourism being brought about will also
contribute to the green house emissions significantly. However, on some level, the
extensive area of vegetation covered nearby could compensate for the green house
gas being emitted.
Effluent is a typical waste that would be generated. It increases the chance of
contamination to the waters around the RCH, more specifically, the Parramatta River.
The effect of effluent becomes even more profound when the Parramatta River has
not reached a swimmable level of cleanliness. Habit destruction may occur after the
completion of the RCH, where the booming development of this second CBD may
cause anthropogenic ecosystem change. For example, effluent emitted by the RCH
which ends up in the river could taint the water with chemical and microbial
substances, resulting in the decrease of aquatic life.
There would be a certain amount of levy to be paid regarding to the waste being
generated, in terms of the green house gas and the landfill. In complying with the laws
4. Mother And Daughter Relationships
Reflecting back over the course of the pass four years, I have dealt with various
situations that remain difficult to explain. In my life I have dealt with love, loss, and
betrayal of the one person, I trusted the most in my life my mother. A mother and
daughters love is a special bond that spans throughout the years; therefore, through
laughter, worry, smiles, and tears. There is a sense of trust cannot be broken; a depth
of lovethat is unspoken which turns into a lifelong friendship built on trust,
sharing, hugs, kisses, warmth, and caring. A mother daughter love is two hearts
that come together as one. A love so unconditional that could never be broken.
Nevertheless, this should be true, describing the love between a mother and
daughter. What has happened in my past would make you rethink a mother s love
for her daughter. A person you thought would jump in front of a bullet for you and
never lie to you or steal to gain for her own benefit. A person that only thought
about herself and not her own children, which is a tragic story, based on the
betrayal from your own mother. She has also destroyed a twenty five year
marriage over another man who probably does not exist in my view. When I was
in my junior year of high school, my mother decided to go to college to receive a
Medical Assistant degree. It was a delightful time for my brother and me, to have a
better chance paying for college. My brother and I never expected what the outcome

5. Reasons The Trials Of Witch Trials
Were people accused of witchcraft given fair trials? In my opinion, they were not.
Based on the information gathered from the three documents, many of the men
and women accused of witchcraft were doomed before the trial even took place.
There are many reasons as to why the trials were unfair before they even started.
First, a big reason why the trials were so unfair was because of the church. They
could use their influence on society to decide who has jurisdiction over certain
areas, giving inquisitors legal power over areas they may not have otherwise had.
Another reason the trials were unfair is the suspected party did not really get to
defend themselves, and even if they tried to, they could be found guilty anyway.
However, the biggest reason I think the trials were unfair was because of the Malleus
Maleficarum, where it mentions torture of prisoners with the intention of getting
confessions. The Papal Bull of 1484 was important because it shows that Pope
Innocent VIIInot only openly acknowledged witchcraftas a threat, but also gives
encouragement to witch hunts. Desiring with supreme ardor, as pastoral solicitude
requires, that the catholic faith in our days everywhere grow and flourish as much
as possible, and that all heretical depravity be put far from the territories of the
faithful, we freely declare and a new decree this by which our pious desire may be
fulfilled, and, all errors being rooted out by our toil as with the hoe of a wise laborer,

Meanwhile, Measure for Measure comments on the dangers of objectifying
women. Now, this play is another exception to the rule that female characters can t

And it offers insights on the uphill battle women face in a professional setting. So
there were many reports of female Uber employees receiving emails from a
manager. He would state that he s in an open relationship with his wife and inquire
each recipient to sleep with him (Ruiz, par. 4). As you would expect, the women
brought these unsettling offers to HR. Besides, they would more than classify as
sexual harassment. But on each occasion, a representative dismissed the accusation.
And they cited this behavior as a one time incident from the manager (Ruiz, par. 5).
Of course, that claim was false since each woman who the man contact received that
exact response from HR. But one woman s documentation, in particular, show a
deeply sexist mentality within Uber. A few months after HR shrugged her off, she
applied for a transfer to another team. But her management team kept offering
vague excuses for why she couldn t leave. It would be something like not having an
upward career trajectory. Or she wasn t technical enough (Fowler, par. 6). Now,
there are three things to keep in mind. One, she had perfect performance reviews.
Two, she never missed a deadline. And three, other teams were showing an interest in
her (Fowler, par. 7). So those factors prove her skills were greater than what
management was admitting. Plus, as she later found out, they wanted her to stay
around for appearance reason. The
7. Hardin Lifeboat Ethics Essay
Although Hardin states reasonable facts against helping the poor in his essay,
Lifeboat Ethics , he overlooks key factors which would contradict with his point of
view. Hardin is against the sharing of resources because in his opinion the population
growth rates of the poorer countries are much higher as opposed to the wealthier. He
claims that if resources are shared equally amongst refugees in LEDCs, in 21 years,
each American would have to share the available resources with more than eight
people. What Hardin overlooks when making this statement is that the mean wealthis
tied in with the mean birthrate. Reports today show that as the wealth of one rises,
they have less children. This is proof that as the wealth of a country rises, the
birthrate would then decrease. If this not be the case, for which there is a slight
possibility, Hardin s argument may be valid.
Hardin s observation of the comparatively higher birthrate of the poor compared to
the lower birthrate of the rich is in fact correct but only to some extent. Pre
industrialization in the so called, first world countries, there were values of high
birthrates. The industrialization in these MEDCs cause a drastic decrease in fertility
in the countries affected. This started in Europe, ... Show more content on

What Hardin oversees is that an international depository of food reserves would
give the poor a chance to develop, which would in turn spark an increase in wealth,
hence, there would be a decrease in birthrate. He also overlooks that practitioners
may have ideas of using technology to solve some of these problems. Hardin claims
that farming crops for the poor would occupy America s land, which turns to be an
insignificant claim as due to the advancement in technology, we could easily use
vertical and rooftop gardening as a more compact and reasonable
8. The Influence Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald the great Gatsby has been one of the greatest literary works of
modernism. The tone of this movement was he American literature in the old days
and the present days. F. Scott Fitzgerald sets the great Gatsby in the jazz age to show
the decline in the 1920s, about how wealth does not bring happiness and those with
unrealistic dreams are unsuccessful and dishonestly can ruin relationships.
Through reading the book, it shows how the experience of selfness and World War
1 made the high social hopeful over their lives. It showed how they wanted to
forget the past and build themselves back into their social class. Also by the
experience of Daisy and Jordan treatment from the men in the stories allows the
reader to see how time still hasn t changed how relationships work with men. This
novel is a great novel to give an example on how reality is to people even the high
class. Through the discussion of the passage will show how the path towards the
American Dream can turn into a negative or positive outcome in a person s life
The characters in the great Gatsby all share similar dreams as most of those dreams
does not always come true. Gatsby is a mysterious wealthy young man. Every
Saturday his mansion in West Egg throughs parties. His real name is jay Gatsby. He
was born in North Dakota to a wealthy farming family. While serving in the Army
in World War I, Gatsby met Daisy who he fell in deep love with her. He worked

9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Patrick Henry s Speech
Throughout history, historical events have been relived and experienced by many in
the present day through various scriptures and texts. From shocking testimonies, and
inspirational speeches to intriguing journal entries, and questionable declarations,
literature has allowed society, no matter the time, to go back and learn about past
events that helped define the present society. Through these pieces of literature and
their literary devices, readers are able to immerse themselves into the past by
exposing themselves to historical figures persuasions and intentions through their
creations. One of these pieces of literature that demonstrates these qualities is Patrick
Henry s Address to the Virginia Convention written in 1775. In Patrick Henry s
speech, he uses literary devices, such as diction, tone and syntax, to help the readers
understand and relate to the author s purpose in calling the Virginia Convention to
action for one of the most historical moments in United Stated history, the American
Revolution. The author uses these literary devices to persuade and encourage
rebellious behavior in the audience, by creating a unifying, inspirational and
rebellious tone to get them to support America s impending fight for freedom, liberty
and independence from British oppression.
In the Speech to the Virginia Convention by Patrick Henry, the author uses multiple
literary devices and a unifying tone to support his claim for the Americans to go
against British oppression and to
10. Sherman Alexie s Use Of Diction And Syntax
Sherman Alexie uses diction and syntax to show that if there aren t any legal
consequences for a bad action, there will always be another kind of consequence.
In the short story there is a young man who is not a very good hunter, misses
frequently, and one day he hit something, he walked down to it and found out he
accidentally shot a person. The man hides the body and doesn t tell anyone; years
went by and no one ever found out. After the author shot the man he explains his
thoughts as, For the next year, I was terrified that the body would be discovered. I
scanned the newspaper for missing men. Missing criminals. Missing drug dealers.
The author uses diction here when he talks about his feelings, he says terrified. The
word terrified has a much stronger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sherman Alexie then describes the man s guilt as, But the skull was only a
reminder that I killed a man. It is proof that I had lived and would die without
magnificence. God, I wanted to be forgiven, but an apology offered to a dead man
is only a selfish apology to yourself. The author could have just stopped with the
skull reminded him that he killed a man but he continues to describe how he felt.
He says that he had lived but died without magnificence. The author is basically
saying that the man lived, but did not really live, he died actually living . Then he
starts the last sentence with God, this has a very strong meaning. When someone
says God it usually means that they are praying, in this occasion he is just using it
to say like all I wanted, but it also has another meaning that could be he is praying
to just be forgiven. He knows that he can t apologize to a dead man and he doesn t
want to die a guilty man so the best he can do is pray for forgiveness. These
examples help to show that although he did not suffer a legal consequence, he still
lived with the guilt of killing a man and was not able to get over
11. Black Holes Lab
Black holes are celestial bodies so dense and strong that nothing can escape their
pull. The idea of black holes is generally referred to the French mathematician,
Pierre Simon Laplace. In 1796, Laplace who was studying the subject of escape
velocity; this is the speed that something must be accelerated to in order to prevent
being pulled back by the gravity of a larger body. For example, to escape the Earth
s gravitational pull we must accelerate our rockets to over 11 kilometers per
second. If the rocket travels any slower then it will fall into a victim of earth
gravity. If it travels any faster it will never return. When Laplace worked on this
problem he noticed a relationship between the size of the object and its mass.

For a source that was many light years always as Scorpios was, to have the amount
of x ray emissions that was detected implied that it must have been generating huge
quantities of x rays. The simplest explanation for this was if material was heated to
extreme temperatures as it was being accelerated by gravity onto a nearby object.
If this would be true then the companion object had to be very small and very
dense. The next pivotal discovery come with the launch of the Unuru x ray
satellite on December 12th 1970. Its given job was to map the x ray sky; the
satellite found 339 sources. Some where galaxies, some supernova remnants, but
most were x ray binary stars. Here, ordinary stars stream their material onto nearby
neutron stars which gets extremely hot as it falls, therefore emitting x rays. One of
these sources however known as Cygnus X1 did not fall into this category. Neutron
stars are formed from the collapse of stars less than 3 times the mass of the Sun. From
the uhuru satellite the data, it shows that the companion to this star appeared to be
live to be 5 to 8 times the mass of the Sun, this object was too large to be a neutron

Hypothesis: To observe cells located in an onion root tip and identify which stage of
cell division the cells are in.
Introduction: Prevost and Dumas (1824)first proposed cell division, when they
described cellular division in fertilized frog eggs. In 1858 Rudolf Virchow
popularised the one omnis cellulae cellula epigram ( Every cell originates from
another existing cell like it ). Strasburger in 1873 found this epigram to be true, as
he and Flemming found out that new nuclei was developed from pre existing ones.
The term of mistosis was used to describe this process by Flemming in 1882(Tan

Centriole replication also begins in G1 and normally continues until G2.When the
activities of G1 have been accomplished the cell begins the S phase. In this phase
there is DNA replication and the synthesis of proteins and histones in the nucleus.
The aim of DNA replication in cells is to prepare the cells to undergo mitosis, copying
the genetic information in the nucleus . A single chromosomecopy is given to each of
the daughter cells.Once DNA replication is completed there is a concise G2 phase
dedicated to last minute protein synthesis and completion of centriole replication.
The cell will then enter the M phase (prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase)
and the beginning of mitosis.During prophase the DNA changes to form
chromosomes while for mitotic spindle made of proteins called micro tubules begins
to form and attaches to the kinetochores on each chromosome. In metaphase the
chromosomes are moved to the centre plate of the cell by the spindle microtubules. In
anaphase the micro tubules attached to the kinetochores of each chromosome shorten
pulling the chromatids of each chromosome to polar ends of the cell while the
unattached micro tubules stretch the cell.
During telophase the chromatid is now called chromosomes. It reaches the poles of
the cell as the unattached microtubules continue to elongate. This is then followed by
cytokinesis.

Discovering your worldview

Discovering your Worldview
A worldview is the framework or beliefs by which a person views the world around
him or her. To explain further, a worldview is how a person basis their beliefs,
actions or motives, which are based on life experiences. Even through life
experiences or worldviews can develop from a variety of sources. For example, a
person may live in a home with abusive parents, making for an unhappy environment.
This same person may have a great mentor who that person looks up to. Even though
this person lives in an unhappy environment, that person may receive their worldview
from the positive affirmations of the mentor. There are three primary worldviews that

In looking at these five questions, we will look at them through a biblical/Christian
worldview.
The first is the question of origin. Where did we come from or how did we begin?
Genesis:1 tells us that all things were created by God. John 1:3 tells us that
everything came to being through God and that nothing else can be without being
created by God. Through a biblical worldview, you must believe that God is the
creator of all and that without God there is nothing.
The question of identity. In looking at the question of identity we must look at what
we believe it is to be a human and what is our status in this world. Jeremiah 1:5 tells
us that even before we were born, God knew us. Ephesians 2:10 tells s that we are
created in Christ Jesus for good works. Scripture tells us that God created us and has
a plan for each and everyone. We are created to fulfill Gods will and to walk in the
way that his word tells us to.
The question of meaning/purpose. This question begs why are we even here.
Ecclesiastes 12: 13 14 tells us that our whole duty is to fear God and keep his
commandments. Luke 12:15 tells us that we should be on guard and that we are not
defined by what we

Definition: COPD is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. Progressive
means the disease get worse over time. It can cause coughing that produces large
amount of mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms.
Etiology: Most cases of COPD occur as a result of long term exposure to lung
irritants that damage the lungs and the airways.
In the United States, the most common irritant that causes COPD is cigarette smoke.
Pipe, cigar, and other types of tobacco smoke also can cause COPD, especially if the

The main test for COPD is spirometry. Other lung function tests, such as a lung
diffusion capacity test, also may be used.
Spirometry; During this painless test, a technician will ask you to take a deep breath
in. Then, you ll blow as hard as you can into a tube connected to a small machine.
The machine is called a spirometer.
The machine measures how much air you breathe out. It also measures how fast you
can blow air out. Your doctor may have you inhale medicine that helps open your
airways and then blow into the tube again. He or she can then compare your test
results before and after taking the medicine.
Spirometry can detect COPD long before its symptoms appear. Doctors also may use
the results from this test to find out how severe your COPD is and to help set your
treatment goals.
The test results also may help find out whether another condition, such as asthma or
heart failure, is causing your symptoms.
Other Tests
Your doctor may recommend other tests, such as: * A chest x ray or chest CT
scan. These tests create pictures of the structures inside your chest, such as your
heart, lungs, and blood vessels. The pictures can show signs of COPD. They also
may show whether another condition, such as heart failure, is causing your
symptoms. * An arterial blood gas test. This blood test measures the oxygen level in
your blood using a sample of blood taken from an artery. The test can help find out

15. The Benefits Of Natural Childbirth
Since Eve first labored to bring her first child into the world, women have given birth
naturally while older, experienced women have handed down the traditions of
childbirth practices to the next generation of younger women. Until the early 20th
century, 95% of births in the United States still took place at home, naturally, with a
midwife present (Rothman, 1991). However, as the medical field has developed the
medicinal intrusions into childbirthhave also been amplified. Today having a baby
has been taken from the hands of those capable and experienced women and placed
very firmly in the grips of traditional medicine. Doctors have superseded midwives
and laboring mothers have gone from actively participating to passively receiving
care. That care is too often governed by experts in a profit making setting that serves
the interests of doctors first rather than the woman s experience and personal health,
often with a high price. Natural childbirth is the better delivery option in healthy
circumstances because it truly benefits mother and infant physically and mentally,
whereas medical interference poses more risk of harm when used in a non emergency
situations.
The three most common medical interventions in childbirths that occur in hospitals
attended by a medical doctor are Pitocin drips to begin or speed up labor, epidurals
to deaden the pain for the mother, and the surgical procedure of a Caesarean section
delivery. Pitocin is a synthetic oxytocin hormone which the

Stowe published ten novels during her writing career. Stowe began writing in the

That ere s so now, ain t it? (Showalter, Ch. Harriet Beecher Stowe) The language of
Sam s character is showing both his lack of education and also proper knowledge

but seems to be slightly more proper than her nephew, My opinion is that if folks
don t mind their own business, and do with their might what their hands finds to
do, the Millennium won t come at all (Showalter, Ch. Harriet Beecher Stowe). It is
interesting to see how Stowe, even in the nineteenth century, recognizes the
importance of an education, along with proper English, and implements these
stereotypes throughout her fictitious stories. With this noted, it shows how
informal her writing style appears and appeals to various readers whom may pick
up her book(s). For example, the highly educated readers enjoying this title may
delight in mocking the poor literacy of Sam. Conversely, one who has little
education may be able to pick up on phonetic words that the author has created,
laughing along with Sam struggling to see the Aunt s perspective. For example,
Why, lordy massy, boys, he would say, I can t bear to see no kind o critter in

difference between foster careand adoption is that foster care is temporary while
adoption is permanent. There are many other things that are different between foster

They have self satisfaction and identity development problems more than their

problems. Children in semi open adoptions often wonder what their real families

their biological family and wonder what it would be like to meet their family

children are given a chance to know their birth parents and form some kind of
relationship with them and receive information that they might not have known in
the past. Feelings of regret may come along with their identity issues. The children
may feel as though they are doing something wrong behind their adopted parents

also face difficult times when questions begin to arise about being an adopted child

21. The Lost Letters Of Pergamum
The Roman Empire, in which the early Church rises in the wake of Jesus death,
resurrection and ascension, is complex cultural melting pot. Rife with hedonism, the
honor/shame structure of the Roman Empire encourage the worship of the Emperor
as God and the Empire as his Holy Empire. Against this narrative, the early Church
was a counterculture to the ways of the empire and it is against this backdrop that
Bruce Longenecker s The Lost Letters of Pergamum takes place. The Lost Letters of
Pergamum is a historical narrative following Antipas and encounters with Luke
through an associate in a neighboring town. Antipas, named after his relative Herod
Antipas, has come to great wealth and influence in the Roman empire. Antipas is

In Roman society, the food would be served based on position in society, but in the
Church, everyone was treated as an equal. Paul admonishes the church at Corinth for
such practices in the celebration of the Lord s Supper (1 Cor. 11:17 22). Paul
bemoans the division that are present in the fellowship among believers and points to
the counterculture equality that characterizes Christians. The Corinthians are
following the conventions of their societal practices, yet in Christ there is a unity
that overcomes the divisions of society. Upon first reading of this passage it seems
that the Corinthians should have known better than to allow this practice to take
place. However, with the cultural context this passage becomes less about intentional
discrimination on the part of the Corinthians and more about the church finding its
identity in the ways of Christ and not in the ways of the world. The cultural of the
Roman Empire was a melting pot of the religious and cultural influences of the
conquered societies that had been assimilated into the Empire. The various religions
and cultural practice created a complex pantheon of gods. Ever larger temples and
statues were erected to bring glory and honor to cities and give honor the Emperor.
Additionally, cities would host gladiatorial games to bring honor to the Emperor.
These events and building projects were facilitated by those who sought to bring
greater glory and honor upon themselves with Roman society.

during the time and place you lived in? M: I was born on May 11, 1894 in
Allegheny City, which later became a part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was a
very industrial city with many churches, social organizations, factories,
commercial areas, and packing houses. It also had numerous job opportunities for
German immigrants. My family eventually moved to Santa Barbara, California
when I was fourteen. Whilst there, much renovation occurred at the Church,
mostly in the sanctuary. I saw my very first dance performance at the Mason Opera

immigration rose from 3.5 million to 9 million. Immigrants kept coming from
Northern and Western Europe, but we started receiving immigrants from Eastern and
Southern Europe, including Latin America and Canada. Immigration eventually

The Repeated Failure of the League of Nations in Keeping Peace
The League of Nations repeatedly failed in keeping the peace because, first of all
Hitler went against the Treaty of Versailles and started World War 2 yet the League
of Nations failed to react. The Treaty of Versailles also failed because Mussolini in
Abyssinia went against the league and Manchuria also contributed towards the
failure to keep the peace. The structure of the league didnГ‚ t help as the council
only met once a year. The power of the league was very weak as there was no
military force. Finally the lack of strong nations joining the league contributed to the
failure of the League of Nations.

The League of Nations also failed because Mussolini, a dictator from Italy, prepared
to invade Abyssinia. Abyssinia then asked the League for help; while the League of
Nations talked to Mussolini he used the time to send an army into Africa. The
League of Nations then suggested giving Abyssinia to Italy. Mussolini ignored the
League of Nations and invaded Abyssinia. In secret however Britain and France
agreed to give Abyssinia to Italy, the Hoare Laval Pact.
Manchuria became a factor or the failure of the League of Nations in 1932 when
the Japanese army invaded Manchuria and threw out the Chinese residents. They
then set up their own government called the Г‚ ManchoukuoГ‚ . When china asked
the League of Nations for help it sent a group of officials led by Lord Lytton to

Japan to leave Manchuria.
However Japan refused to leave Manchuria and instead left the League of Nations.
As many countries had important trading links with Japan the League of Nations
couldnГ‚ t agree on sanctions or even ban weapon sales. Britain and France didnГ‚ t
want a war therefore nothing was done. This showed the League of Nations as weak
and powerless therefore adding to the failures and breakdown of the League of

The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid is written about two men in contrast with
one another as far as, being from two very different society status/walks of life but
despite their different up brings/background both men have one thing in common
and that is an addiction to drugs and alcohol. The book begins telling the story of
Duke Reynolds (The Sword Swallower) whom at the age of 15 ran away from

book is about Gary (Chico Kid) who went from a straight A high school student
and how he began drinking and drugging partying after going to college. The last
part of The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid is the transformation of in the lives
of both of the men. There are a couple of things that I like about this book. First, I
like the thoroughness of detail in some parts of the book. For example when
reading about the circus acts it is like being there seeing it with my own eyes. I
also, like how it gives you an off the stage or behind the scene view of some of the
circus characters and how the interact with each other being more like a big family
rather than just some random people that came together just to put on a show. I

Shipwreck from the late 18th century
The Breakdown
It s not every day that you find a piece of history. Either in your back yard or
cleaning out the attic or other such ways. In fact, most often, the finding of the
artifacts are usually done by accident.
Why by accident? Well, the odds of you finding something purposefully are slim as it
is. Even carefully planned expeditions can turn up nothing for years before anything
is found.
Plus, if you do find something you don t really think much of it and might end up
damaging the item. Or not know it s really a piece of history and not junk.
The Odds of Finding a Shipwreck

We decided this extension would be successful, as it would cannibalize of Allround
sales the least. Even though the alcohol was dropped from Allround, doctors and
pharmacists recommended expectorant in the children s version over the cough
suppressant in Allround. As a result, our product choice was successful.
In period five, we introduced the line extension Allright; a 12 Hr muli symptom
relief capsule. We decided this extension would be successful, as the allergy market
is very small and had an entrenched competitor. Therefore, while we were aware of
potential cannibalization, we believed that the targeted market (retirees, empty
nesters, and young singles) would have sufficient demand for our product. We also
reasoned that this target was far enough removed from Allround s to gain additional
market share without taking any from Allround. However, this was not the case, as
cannibalization was a pressing issue. Market share was gained at the expense of
Allround.
Price
The AllStar brand was viewed as the premium brand on the market, this was reflected
by the pricing schemes of Allround and Allround+. However, Allright was launched
to be a flanker brand to capture market share from price sensitive consumers without
hurting Allround s brand image. Allround and Allround+ were priced as high as
possible within the bounds of the price effectiveness trade offs. This trade off was
also the basis for Allright pricing decisions, however, we could never increase the
price fast

The aim of this report is to analyse the current business issue Cleaners Co is faced
with and address the leading and planning functions of management. In this case, the
issue in question has become apparent following the new appointment of CEO.
Whilst Cleaners Co s profitability has seen a favourable increase in the last 12
months, many of the changes have not been met with the agreement of senior
management. Often changes to a business can result in disagreements, resulting in a
serious impact upon the employee s work ethic, motivation and job satisfaction ().
However, when employees are happy in the workplace, this can have positive
benefits for the business and its profit. This report will provide recommendations
and the suggested course of action for Cleaners Co to take in order to successfully
solve this issue.
Defining the Issue
The disagreement of the senior management team regarding changes made to
Cleaners Co in order to improve profitability comes as a result of underlying problems
within the planning and leading functions of the business structure.
Firstly, the style of management of Cleaners Co must be examined. Successfully
leading a business involves arousing employees enthusiasm to work effectively and
achieve the organisations overall goal (TEXTBOOK) Currently, the business
operates in a top down leadership or autocratic management style. While the
autocratic style of business is one of the most recognised forms of leadership, it is

Sri Lanka failed to give justice and freedom for the victims of the war.
One of the most lasting ethnic conflicts took place in Sri Lanka. The civil war
lasted for around 27 years, which finally concluded in 2009. In Sri Lanka, 74%
consists of Singhalese and 26% consists of Tamils.
Even though the war was declared to be over in 2009, there are still on going
conflicts. From the time Sri Lanka gained its independence, which was in 1848, the
Sinhalese population were in power. Successive Sinhalese governments have put into
action many prejudicial laws against the Tamils. Around early 1970 s, ethnic groups
who wanted independence appeared in the Tamil dominated areas of the country,
with the Liberation of the Tamil Tigers Eelam (LTTE) strongest among all. Despite
the fact that the civil war has come to an end, there are still numerous problems that
the citizens face today. Now that there is a newly elected president since January
2015, I hope for reconciliation of differences between the two ethnicities.
The LTTE were a brutal army, and were ready to use child soldiers and horrifying
strategies. Around early 2009, the government announced that there were going to be
no fire zones , in which they persuaded and supported around 40,000 Tamils to go for
their own security and protection. The government bombed those regions. Later, a

constitutional side where there was a leader who was either voted in or was born

difference in England was that the king didn t have the absolute power or say. Most

If that leader can t assure the security than others are needed and it no longer acts as

The Romanovs showcased the success of an absolutist monarchy by being in control
until 1917. In a constitutional monarchy one could say a great advantage came in that
normal people had a voice. In comparison, there is the absolutist monarch who doesn
t take anyone s vote while the constitutional monarch will hear from the nobleman
what one may hear from the peasants. Charles I felt the true strength of parliament
when he needed financial backing, and the backing would only be given when he
agreed that parliament would have a vote in ordinary taxing and unfair imprisonment.
The parliament itself was made up of nobleman as well as landowners and merchants
who all wanted a say in that the parliament couldn t be broken up when Charles didn t
like what they were doing. The constitutional monarchy may have a king, but it s not

Mrs. Branson has taught 3rd grade at S.H. Elementary for the past three years.
S.H. Elementary is a charter school located in the south suburbs of Minneapolis. I

who practices the art of manipulating timethrough precise movements and careful

has experienced her time with death if she simply explained it as one whole event.
For instance, We slowly drove He knew no haste, demonstrates just how slowly the
time has passed for her in comparison to the world around them. Furthermore, Since
then tis Centuries and yet / feels shorter than the Day, explicitly states that, in fact,
it has been centuries since her ride began despite feeling shorter than a day. In
these cases, time is put into a small window frame that broadens our horizons on
just how time in the world has passed for the speaker. It assists our thinking
processes to fully appreciate how time has impacted the speaker while also
explaining just how a concept like Death shifts time to the back of our minds when it
has played such a heavy role in our lives. To summarize, Dickinson conveys, through
time, that the journey of death is something that feels too short, but has actually been
far too
41. Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Should the United States Drill for Oil in the ANWR? The Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge or ANWR is one of the largest areas of protected land in the world. It
encompasses areas of Alaska and Northwestern Canada. The area was initially set
aside by President Eisenhower in 1960, because of the area s value to the
environment. What with it being part of the shrinking tundra, and the only protected
tundra in the United States. However, despite the environmental significance of the
ANWR to the surrounding areas, parts of the United States government would like
to drill for oil in this important area. According to a study by the Gallup organization,
support of the drilling has gone down in recent years. On top of that, more recent
studies are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What if, this debate might not be necessary in the first place? What if the notion of
the oil a vast amount of oil isn t tangible? According to the United States Geological
Survey or the USGS, the amount of oil in the ANWR is between 5.7 and 16 million
barrels. The process of extracting the oil will be nowhere near to being done by 2030.
While this means a more stable business, it also means that the drilling will have a
much longer living effect on the area. Also, according to the Environmental
Information Administration, or the EIA, even with the nation s shrinking
dependency on foreign oil with a boom in fracking, current imports of petroleum are
far greater than the ANWR will ever produce. Many groups would argue by
mentioning that the ANWR drilling is positive because it will reduce the United
States reliance on foreign oil, which saves the United States money. In response to
this, the National Resources Defense Council stated that the ANWR s oil would only
serve as a distraction from the United States foreign oil dependency. As stated earlier,
the ANWR just doesn t contain enough
42. The Responsibility Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
As Julius Caesar once said, Men are nearly always willing to believe what they wish.
Brutus proves this by joining the conspiracy to kill Caesar. By joining the
conspirators, Brutus goes against his idea of being honorable. Considering that
Caesar has not done anything wrong to Rome, Brutus and the conspirators still
assume he will become a tyrant. Hence Brutus does not think things through enough
to make his decision.
Brutus did not want to kill Caesar at first, but through the persuasion of Cassius and
the conspirators, he eventually decides to fall into the group s views. Brutus is easily
persuaded by the thoughts of the conspiracy. Consequently, he determines to unite
with the association wanting the death of Caesar quickly. Brutus ... Show more

Brutus only looked at the bad side of Caesar, never looking at his achievements.
Therefore, he was too easily swayed by himself and the conspirators. It was wrong for
Brutus to join the resistance. Though he claims to be honorable, murder is not
honored under any circumstance.
Another reason that is mentioned frequently is how the conspirators believed that
Caesar was very ambitious. If Caesar was ambitious and eager to become crowned,
he would have taken the first opportunity to claim the throne. Instead, Caesar was
offered the crown three times and denied it each time (I,ii,230 233). Although Caesar
denied the crown, Casca still believed that he would have loved to have taken it.
There are many assumptions, but the conspirators never know the true intentions of
Caesar.
In conclusion, Brutus should not have brought himself together with the conspiracy
against Caesar. He should have approached Caesar in an appropriate way and handled
things with him. Instead, Brutus assumed that Caesar would evolve into someone
bad after becoming crowned. The conspirators supposed that Caesar was ambitious
and would take advantage of his rule, without knowing his true intentions. Brutus,
along with the conspirators, were wrong to assassinate
43. How Cameras Changed America
The first camera was invented by Alhazen around 1000 AD. It was called the
Camera Obscura (Pinhole Camera). Since then there have been huge advances in
the camera world, with over 400 cameras have been made. Pictures are a big and
influential part in people s lives. From Social Media to books, and news, cameras
have truly changed America.
The first camera, Camera Obscura use a pinhole lens to project an image of the scene

created by George Eastman and went on the market in 1888. It was simple box
camera with a single shutter speed and fixed focus lens. With furthering technology,
the first DSLR (digital single release lens reflex) camera was created in 1991 by

Cameras are everywhere and are hard to escape from. One downside to large
amounts of cameras is how easy photographs can be taken. Every phone has a
camera which allows you to apply on it, and the cameras are increasing in strength
and clarity all the time. There are new apps that you can get filters and create
special effects with the pictures. It makes it looks like everybody can be a
photographer. It is taking away from the real photographers that have talent and
experience. They have to prove themselves and be unique upon all the different
pictures to keep their business alive and thriving. It makes it harder for them to look
like professionals and pushes them to work
44. O Pioneers ! By Willa Cather
An American Woman In the story O Pioneers! by Willa Cather presents a young
intelligent woman who had an American dream. Alexandra Bergson is a perfect
model of emotional strength, strong will and courage. She not only motivated
herself but she always had a drive to encourage others to never give up on their
dream. Building up the land, having more patience and passion than men, and self
sacrifice were some conditions Alexandra Bergson faced as a young woman. Overall,
all of the obstacles she overcame granted her to live an American Dream she had
planned to live all her life. Alexandra first obstacle that she faced was at a very
young age. A difficulty that most young teenage girls never will face. Alexandra
provides the ideal example of self sacrifice. She gives up most of her teenage life
and numerous chances for happiness because she has a vision of the future that
requires hard work and continued dedication. However, Alexandra s vision consists
of hope, loveand dreams for others rather than hope, love and dreams for herself.
After Alexandra s father died, he left her the responsibility to take over the land
and all of what he worked hard for. Instead of her father giving her brothers the
responsibility over the land, without any doubt he gave it to Alexandra because she

45. Significance Of The ANZAC Legend
The ANZAC spirit was born on the twenty fifth of April 1915, on this day Australian
soldiers landed upon the shores of Gallipoli to serve their country for the first time in
war. Each year Australians celebrate the mateship, courage and heroism the ANZAC
soldiers showed on that day. Although, people tend to depict these soldiers as victims
of a catastrophic trauma, yet this passionate sacrifice is what gave Australiaits name.
Furthermore, there is word of discussion about the truth behind the accuracy of the
ANZAC legend. Evidence demonstrates that the ANZAC legend is an accurate
portrayal of what occurred the day the ANZAC S landed in Gallipoli. The legend of
mateship, heroism, courage and bravery is an accurate representation of the fighting
Australian and New Zealand soldiers in world war one.
After the ANZACs landed in Gallipoli, they were in combat for approximately eight
and a half months. Throughout this long and tedious period of time the soldiers
went through many traumatic experiences. Although, when looking in the face of
death the soldiers were able to have a spirit of mateship to make conditions
bearable. To support this, a governor general stated in an article posted in two
thousand and eight, they gave their lives for a supreme cause in gallant comradeship
with the rest of my soldiers who fought and died with them. This source is
exclaiming that the soldiers would put their fellow comrades before themselves as
mateship was prioritised by them. Because of

named Mitch Albom which had lost touch for several years. The book circulated in
the events of their lives from the flashbacks and present times and how they were
able to meet up again and change each other s lives. The central theme of this book
is about life lessons one can garner through death. It is how the encounter and
visitation of Mitch to his college professor Morrie every Tuesday became lessons on
how to live life. With this, Tuesdays with Morrieis the outcome of the remaining
time they spent together while Morrie is nearing to his death. The story began with

I learned that in life, we should not let go soon but also, we should not hang on too
long. It s alright to still hope for something/someone you want until you get the
chance to get it but sometimes, patience is not always the answer; waiting for so
long to nothing is a waste of time and we should not let his happen. Another thing
is I also learned about contentment; We should learn to accept what we are able to
do and what we aren t able to do. People have their own assets and imperfections
and to deal with them, it would be just a matter of acceptance; acceptance of who
we are and what we are not. I recommend this book to all the people especially those
who are in need of motivation or even people who are becoming hopeless and

this is a story which will really touch the hearts of those who will be reading this.

48. Figurative Language In Esperanza Rising
In the novel, Esperanza Rising the author, Pam Munoz Ryan, masterfully uses
figurative language to convey the rich story of her own heritage as a Mexican
American. The author uses several similes and metaphors to convey the deeper
meaning of her story. However, the author s use of a blanket image becomes
particularly important as she uses it as an extended metaphor throughout the story.
The first time that blankets are brought into the story, grandmother teaches
Esperanza to crochet and she says that her love and good wishes will be in the
blanket forever. Later, Abuelita compares the stitches in the blanket to mountains
and valleys meaning the ups and down of life. When she sees her father s dead body

The results on the quiz in terms of party alignment was the Democratic Party. The
quiz showed I was in agreement with the Democratic Party more than the other
parties with a match of 87%. I also had high percentages in the Green Party,
Libertarians, and the Constitution Party. The reason I have high percentages for
the other parties as well is because they all have different views on all the different
issues and how they approach the problems, so I agree with some of the issues they
are for or against or even what they are doing to be for or against them. I was not

issue of abortion rights, Democrats are pro choice. This issue was thought to be
resolved by Supreme Court in the case of Roe v. Wade. No matter if abortion is
illegal or not, women will do what they want concerning their bodies even if that
means going to an underground abortion operation, which in most cases are
botched and the woman having the unbelievably dangerous procedure dies. The
Roe v. Wade case, Supreme Court thought out a legal balance between the rights of
women and also the rights of the developing fetuses. A couple of these legal
balances; Before a fetus can live outside the womb, which is the 1st and 2nd
trimester, or 6 months, women have a right to choose whether to abort or not, and
after a fetus is viable, states may prohibit all abortions, as long as they make
exceptions where a woman s life or health are in danger (). In some nations early
abortion is legal where certain religions predominate. Democrats respect the views
of others who believe it is immoral and is very over to debate over the issue.

The Hazards of Space Travel for the Human Body
In the year 2042, aerospace engineers continue to struggle with the challenge of a
manned mission to mars. Biomedical complications disrupt any advancements in the
effort, as astronaut safety is considered the most fundamental aspect of a successful
mission. In order to study the effects of weightlessness and radiation in a deep space
environment, NASA launches a government funded space station into high earth
orbit. The astronaut s medical health is studied over a six month period, as their
bodies adapt to the low gravity environment and radiation becomes a crucial concern.

As an organism in a hostile environment, precautions must be made.
An astronaut must maintain peak physical health to ideally preform and adapt to a
space environment. In order to minimize the extent of medical concerns, strict
medical standards are established to guarantee the correct crew for the mission.
Designed by surgeons and experts in aerospace medicine, the regulations mirrored
those of the U.S Air force. Extensive consideration is taken in the categories of blood
pressure, radiation exposure, hearing, dental health, and precise body composition.
Annual medical certification examinations are conducted by flight medicine
physicians. These exams insure that the crew is not only fit for space flight, but also
for training. Crew members are given a supporting exam at launch, as well as two
days after landing (Risin). The information found in these last minute exams is used
to analyze the effects of space travel on the astronauts.
Only 7 missions in American history included biomedical objectives as a goal
amongst each operations highest priorities. As of May 1961 to May 1963, Project
Mercury was conducted to assess the ability for man to survive in an environment
outside of earth. The endeavor completed four orbital missions and two sub orbital
flights, the longest of which lasted 34 hours. Although the returning health conditions

53. Being A Good Pitcher Essay
Often times people who end up being great are the ones who are willing to put in the
hardest work. Being a good pitcher involves doing little things to put yourself in the
best position possible. Stretching, throwing, running and being smart are all essential
parts of being a great pitcher. Stretching out my muscles prevents arm, back, and leg
injuries because throwing a baseballis not a regular motion for the arm. I start with
leg stretches such as toe touches and squats. This will ensure that my hamstrings and
quadriceps are ready to begin tossing. Squatting and rotating back and forth is a
great exercise for the back muscles. Arm stretches are by far the most vital for a
pitcherconsidering that s where most injuries happen. Arm... Show more content on

Ten tosses from this position should get me loose enough to begin backing up. I
throw about six to seven throws at ten foot intervals. I back up to about one
hundred and fifty feet or until I feel my arm is extremely loose. One of the biggest
mistakes made by pitchers is they don t work their way back into their partner. I
come back in throwing about three balls at each ten foot spot. Whenever I hit the
fifty foot mark, I began throwing a variety of pitches. For example, I ll throw fastball,
changeup, and curveballs. When I gain control over these pitchers, I go to the
bullpen. In the pen, I always begin and end with a fastball. I m ready to pitch in the
game now. The most over looked aspect of pitching is running. When I throw in a
game, my arm becomes sore almost instantly. To try and defend against this, I
usually run immediately after and the days that follow my throwing. The day that
I am pitching is usually a light run of maybe a mile or so, but the next two days are
long distance runs of fifteen miles or more. A long run of constant arm moving
helps my arm to break up the lactic acid that makes my arm sore. This is one of the
quickest ways to get rid of soreness and be ready to pitch again

infants, with a range of benefits for infants health, growth, immunity and
development. (Healthy People 2010, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) The
nutritional benefits of breastfeeding a newborn are known; however new studies are

They can also receive water and non sugary, water based drinks. These supplementary
drinks can be natural fruit juices, oral rehydration salts solution, vitamin and mineral

Lactation itself is broken down in stages, but the nutritional benefits can be found in
all forms of breast milk. The first stage, is called Colostrum. The production of
colostrum occurs during pregnancy and lasts for a few days after birth. Colostrum
contains large amounts of proteins, fat soluble vitamins, minerals, and
immunoglobulins. Colostrum is the first form of breast milk that is produced by a
mother after their delivery. In the first few days post delivery, Colostrum is produced
in small volumes. It is made to be digested easily and efficiently. Colostrum has a
laxative effect which in turn aids the passing of stools and helps in elimination of too
much bilirubin, which aids in preventing jaundice in newborns. Like previously
mentioned, Colostrum contains high concentrations of immunoglobulins. Some of the
