1. Uniform Persuasive Essay
Writing a persuasive essay on the topic of uniforms presents a unique set of challenges that
require careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. At first glance, the subject may seem
straightforward, but delving into the intricacies of uniform policies and their implications
demands a comprehensive understanding of various perspectives. Crafting a compelling
argument requires the ability to navigate through a sea of conflicting opinions, research findings,
and anecdotal evidence.
One of the primary challenges is the need to balance emotion and logic effectively. The topic of
uniforms often stirs strong emotions on both sides, with proponents highlighting the potential for
fostering a sense of unity and discipline, while opponents argue for individual expression and
freedom of choice. Striking the right chord between appealing to the reader's emotions and
presenting a rational, evidence-based argument is a delicate task that requires finesse.
Additionally, addressing counterarguments is crucial for a well-rounded essay. Anticipating and
refuting opposing viewpoints demonstrates a thorough understanding of the topic and enhances
the overall persuasiveness of the essay. This, however, demands extensive research and critical
thinking to anticipate potential objections and provide compelling responses.
Moreover, maintaining a coherent structure is essential for the essay to flow seamlessly from one
point to the next. The introduction must grab the reader's attention and clearly present the stance,
while the body paragraphs should develop the argument logically and persuasively. Ensuring a
smooth transition between ideas and maintaining a persuasive tone throughout the essay is a task
that demands careful planning and meticulous execution.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay on the topic of uniforms involves navigating through a
myriad of challenges, including emotional appeals, counterargument considerations, and
structural coherence. Success in this endeavor requires a thorough understanding of the subject
matter, critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively. Despite the difficulty, a
well-crafted essay can sway opinions and contribute to meaningful discourse on the topic.

3. Character Analysis Of Antigone
In the impressive play, Sophocles Antigone, translated by Dudley Fitts and Robert
Fitzgerald, the character that tends to receive more attention is Antigone the one
who was willing to die for her brother. Although most people may see Antigone as
the strong one, Ismene is the actual strong character in the play because she is able
to stay loyal to her state and leader in spite of her own sister asking her to disobey
the law. Antigone may be looked upon as the strong one but there is more to being
strong than just fighting. A strong person is also a person that goes against the
willingness of doing something because it s the right thing to do. Ismene is the
strong minded character in the play as she says no to going with her sister to bury
their brother together with honor. Fighting with your words is greater than
fighting with your actions. Ismene stood up to Antigone said that she would not
go through with the burial of her brother, because of what she believed wa right.
She did not let anyone tell her what she believes is wrong and that takes courage.
In the play Antigone is the one to be outgoing and rebellious in away whereas
Ismene, is more rebellious by not going with Antigone and instead being more
reserved and strong willed about what she believes is right. By Ismene not going
with Antigone to bury their brother she gives the audience a stronger feeling, like a
feeling that you don t always have to do what everyone else does to prove your
strong. By not following others doesn t mean you have less courage, it just means
you re able to stand up for what you believe and by what your morals are. Ismene
says They mean a great deal to me; but I have no strength to break laws that were
made for the public good . This quotes here is from Antigone trying to convince
Ismene to come join her as she goes to bury her brother, defying the law. Breaking
the law is also a crime, and Antigone s crime is that she is going to bury her brother
even after being told that, that s unacceptable. In this case Ismene the higher hand
over Antigone because she was able to say no and now it s up to Antigone and what
she wants to do. Being able to stay silent in a time where people are counting on you

4. Difference between Text Messaging and Abbreviations
Social media sites such as Twitter only allow a limit of 140 character per tweet.
This limits the amount of words you can use in a tweet. This forces the users to get
their ideas across in the shortest way possible. For many, this results in the use of
text talk. This is a type of shorthand and it creates a whole new language consisting
of abbreviations. LOL, BRB, SMH and TTYL are a few examples of the
abbreviations from this text talk language, theses terms are used every day
amongst teens. These text terms add more to a sentence and in text more then just
a simple abbreviation for a word or phrase. Abbreviations as short has three letters
can add a whole new tone to what is said over a text massage. LOL (laugh out loud)
for example is used to add a joking or playful tone to a messages almost like a type
of punctuation and in some cases it replaces a punctuation. This abbreviation
doesn t always indicate literal laughter either. This is how text talk and normal
abbreviations vary. Text talk is surly changing the way we talk and communicate
with people in our every day lives. theses text short hand are becoming a language
on its own. Now the question is how does this writing form change the way we
communicate with people. We no longer have to ride on horse back for miles just
to deliver a single letter. However, we now have cell phones and laptops, and with
these social media. Writing letters was once an semi social activity between two
people. Writing letters

Far away, on the border of both France and Switzerland, lies the massive CERN
Accelerator Complex. This series of particle accelerators increases the momentum of
packets of nuclei to almost light speed, then collides them. It collects the debris of
the resulting destruction in hopes of finding the basic building blocks of matter. This
is a basic overview of what happens at CERN, but when examined more closely, this
process becomes far more difficult and complicated. How does this Atom Smasher
work? How is it built? Most importantly, how do the thousands of euros poured into
this costly research benefit the practical world? The CERN Accelerator Complex

The final step is when they are shot into the Large Hadron Collider, twenty seven
kilometers, about seventeen miles, in circumference. This ring has two vacuum
tubes that fire protons in opposite direction, crossing them over in detector caverns.
Here, computers take measurements to make sure nothing unexpected happens,
such as a packet colliding into a wall, or smashing into another packet too early.
When they are finally made to collide at four terra EV each, the computer tracks
information about the debris, small particles such as quarks, and keeps it as data.
Thus ends the travel of the packets and the process is repeated, furthering the cause
of science. The technology to make this process work is incredibly advanced,
stretching from super conduction to super computers. Most of the electronics at
CERN are superconducting, which is where wires are cooled to such an extent that
they provide virtually no resistance for the electrons passing through them. The
niobium titanium wires at CERN are cooled to negative 456.34 degrees Fahrenheit,
making them one hundred times more conductive. This is vital, because the power
required to keep the accelerators, computers, magnets, ect. running is so colossal, the
CERN complex needs it s own substation. It runs on 1.3 terra watts hours per year,
enough to power 300,000 homes in the United Kingdom. The radio frequency cavity,

3.1 The hippocampus and Cognition
Hippocampus belongs to the limbic system of the brain. In 1960, O Keefe and Lynn
Nadel continued to investigate the functions of hippocampus. The behavioural
inhibition theory was defined and justified many questions regarding functions of
hippocampus. Eventually their investigations have been published an influential
book, The Hippocampus as a Cognitive Map (O Keefe et al, 1978). The spatial
coding such as spatial memory and navigation is the functions of hippocampus are

This electrophysiological study showed that the possible cause of neuronal deficit is
by back propagation of action potentials (bAPs) and Ca2+ transient currents altered
after chronic alcohol exposure in vitro model. These electrophysiological changes

Through the 1920Вґs 30s and 40s Hollywood was dominated by the studio system.
This system gave studios unparalleled control over film production and the people
who worked on them. However, this level of control was not to last as several
important events in the late 1940s would dramatically influence the filmbusiness.
These events were the Paramount decision of 1948 and the Hollywood blacklists in
the late 1940s. Both of these events would profoundly reshape the filmmaking
business and the way it operated, with effects that last to this very day.
Throughout the 1920s 30Вґs and into the 40Вґs the Studio system ruled Hollywood.

viral meningitis, although some people have a higher risk such as children under 5
years and people with weakened immune system. Viral meningitis is spread if you
have close contact with a person who is infected with the disease you may become
infected with the virus that made the person sick. Usually only a small number of
people who get infected with the different viruses that cause meningitis will actually

This type of meningitis has different symptoms for different age groups. In babies the
symptoms are; fever, irritability, poor eating, sleepiness or have trouble waking up

sensitivity to bright light, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite and lethargy.
Initial symptoms of viral meningitis are very similar to those for bacterial meningitis.

9. Year-Round Schooling
The average American s summer break includes exciting or leisurely vacations with
the family, cookouts with the neighbors, tanning (or burning) at the pool, and
watching fireworks on the 4th of July. Although the typical kid eagerly anticipates
this season, not everyone gets to enjoy a long summer break. About 4% of America s
educationsystems have implemented year round schooling in which the summerbreak
is swapped out for shorter breaks throughout the year (Kelsey). Though some believe
year round schooling is a better method than the traditional 9 month schedule, it
produces problems for both teachers and students.

students are given homework to finish over the break (just like students are given
homework to complete over Thanksgiving or Christmas break) or teachers spend
their break preparing for the next session of school, shorter breaks do not alleviate
the problem of burnout but continue it. Students and teachers would be better off
with a long summer break to take their minds off of school and to relax without
worrying about what is coming up within the next couple of
10. First Compressions In Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
Although first impressions are given quite a bit of weight in our society, they are
often wrong. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry has several first
impressions of new characters. Ludo Bagman is a great guy who works for the
ministry: funny, nice, and always cheerful, he s very popular with Hogwarts
students. Fleur Delacour is a French Beauxbatons student who is gorgeous, and
very aware of it. She is always complaining about Hogwarts and thinks the world
revolves around her, and only her. Professor Alastor Moody was an auror in his
time, and since he has caught so many dark wizards, he is very paranoid, leading
many people to believe he is insane. However, he is chosen to become the new
Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and he knows what he is talking about. These
are all true statements about these three characters. Or are they? Harry Potterand the
Goblet of Fire, by JK Rowling, explores the concept of first impressions, revealing
that even The Chosen One holds opinions on people that are completely incorrect.
Ludo Bagman is supposedly an amazing person who wants to see the underdog win,
but Fred and George Weasley quickly learn that he is not the perfect man he seems to
be. When Ludo comes to Hogwarts to judge the Triwizard Tournament, the students
cheer very loudly when his name is announced, and he happily waves back. Everyone
seems to adore him, yet in the background, Fred and George know the truth about the
deceitful man. You remember that bet we

Groundwater samples were collected and reported by Sultan et al. (2011) from Sinai
for isotopic analyses of H and O from open and productive wells tapping three types
of aquifers: (1) fractured basement, (2) Nubian Sandstone unconfined aquifer
cropping out at the foothills of the basement outcrops, and (3) alluvial. They believed
that the unconfined and alluvial aquifers fed by a fractured basement aquiferthrough
discharging into the overlying sediments. The ОґD and Оґ18O isotopic compositions
of the groundwatersamples from the unconfined Nubian Sandstone aquifers in the
recharge areas cropping out at the foothills of the basement outcrops are somewhat
depleted (δD: 22.7 to 32.8‰; δ18O: 4.47 to 5.22‰) compared to those from
fractured basement outcrops (δD: 19.9 to 23.2‰; δ18O: 3.77 to 5.05‰) and
those from alluvial aquifers (δD: 22.7 to 23.4‰; δ18O: 4.53 to 5.01‰), but
they are less depleted than those reported from the Gulf of Suez (Sturchio et al.,
1996). The isotopic compositions of the samples from the fractured basement and
alluvial aquifers are similar to those of average modern precipitation from Al Arish

the Western Desert, formed in pluvial period, and modern precipitation deposited in
dry and warm climatic conditions (Sultan et al., 1997, 2011).

PSYCHOGRAPHIC MODELS
Models are designed to classify people according to certain characteristics, tendencies

15. The Circadian Rhythms
Each day, when the sun rises and sets, mammals and plants alike conform together
with a celestial rhythm that instructs the activities of the day. The human body, along
with nearly all other mammals, endogenously oscillates on a rhythm that coincides
with these daily activities. However, when mammals are placed in an environment
void of nearly all outside influences, also known as zeitgebers, these rhythms continue
to run at specified intervals. Thus, the endogenous rhythm must be governed by an
internal master clock. This master clock has been discovered to be the
suprachiasmatic nuclei which are located in the anterior portion of the hypothalamus.
Circadian rhythms are endogenous rhythms that mammals and plants exhibit. The
term circadian was established in the 1950 s and is derived from the Latin prefix
circa which means approximately, and dies which means day. (2) Nearly all living
things have circadian rhythms that approximate to a 24 hour cycle; however there
are some differences in lengths varying from species to species. (1) Numerous
physiological processes are governed by the circadian rhythm, and by effect nearly
every process in the body can be contributed to a rhythm of circadian fashion. The
master clock of the circadian rhythm for biological processes is the suprachiasmatic
nuclei, or SCN. (1)(2) The SCN is located in the anterior portion of the hypothalamus,
posterior to and slightly inferior to the frontal lobe of the brain. The SCN is believed

the popular hero of the day was the romantic hero. Mary Shelly gives a great picture
of this hero in her novel Frankenstein. She uses Victor Frankenstein, the creator of the
famous Frankenstein s Monster as her character which embodies the traits of a
romantic hero. The model was relatively new; however, Christopher Marlowehad

During this chase, he says that he has been possessed by a frenzy and that he was
reserved for vengeance (Shelly 150). Clearly Victor is obsessed with locating and
executing his creation. This particular obsession leads to further mental madness
on his part and also to his death even after he is rescued by Robert Walton in the
Arctic Sea. In Marlowe s masterpiece, Faustus is obsessed with learning. In and of
itself, that is not a bad thing; however, this obsession with learning soon turns to
obsession with the dark arts, magic, and the devil. He exclaims that he will live in
speculation of this dark art as long as he can or till Mephistopheles return

the dark arts to summon spirits. Later in the book, the Good Angel implores
Faustus to lay that damned book aside and to gaze not upon it (Marlowe 55). The
Good Angel is trying to cure Faustus of his obsession but ultimately he does not
succeed. Faustus s obsession eventually leads to his famed deal with the devil in
which he sells his soul to Lucifer for 24 years of Mephistopheles s power. This deal
is clearly detrimental to his relationship with Christ and its roots trace back to his
obsession with learning. When Frankenstein and Faustus experience the Internal
battles that all romantic heroes face, Shelly and Marlowe are trying to show that
there is a fine line between flawed and completely evil and that

lessons that have impacted my career in the military Lesson 7 Too often in
business as well as the military, If it ain t broke, don t fix it (Powell, C #7). Too

Abstract
A young offender with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder can be very vulnerable
whether we realize it or not. The level of their comprehension can be lower than
others without the disorder and can cause them to struggle with things that are simple
to us like complying with law authority during an arrest. With that being said, Kaitlyn
McLachlan, Ronald Roesch, Jodi L. Viljoen and Kevin S. Douglas did a study on
young offenders with FASD in hopes to raise awareness of the necessity to aid the
individuals. The research included reliable methods that would prove their
intellectual and academic levels were highly lower than individuals without FASD.
The four hypothesized that the young offenders with FASD would show more
limited skills than the young offenders without FASD. Their results showed the
young offenders with FASD scored significantly lower than the other young
offenders, making their hypothesis correct. McLachlan, Roesch, Viljoen and Douglas
proved that it would be significant to mark individuals with FASD as ones who would
highly benefit from assistance.

African American Studies is a change agent for the ideology of Black Americans.
Black studies as an academic discipline serves to reorient the perspective of African

struggled with a loss of their true culture and identity. The vulnerability of a
displaced and victimized race subjected them to view conformity and assimilation as

21. Essay On The Undertaker
The Undertaker is without a doubt the single most iconic figure in the history of
professional wrestling. A mixture of talent, time, and sheer dedication to craft and
character has pushed him beyond the ranks of Hulk Hogan and The Rock, and he
will surely be remembered as the greatest of all time whenever he decides to hang up
his boots. Mark Calaway, the man behind the Undertakercharacter, is an old school
guy and has broken character only on rare occasions over the years. While that s
great news for those who believe kayfabe is a lost art, it means fans have not been
able to get close to The Undertaker in the way they have been able to get close to the
likes of Shawn Michaels, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin, who frequently

The Undertaker and Triple H have had their problems over the years. Taker did not
take kindly to the infamous Curtain Call when Hunter, along with his fellow Kilq
members, broke kayfabe to have a pseudo emotional moment in the ring with Kevin
Nash and Scott Hall, who were leaving for WCW.
However, several years later, when Triple H was pushed to the main event, he
began to win The Deadman over. The pair had a series of stellar encounters and
together they saw their contemporaries drop off one by one. Eventually, The
Undertaker and Triple H were left as the last of a dying breath and were entrusted
with maintaining order in the locker room.
The pair shared a genuine emotional moment after their match at WrestleMania
XXVII, with both men admitting they had their doubts if they could still go inside
the ring and thanking the other for bringing out the best in them.

22. Achievements Of The Tang Dynasty As A Reunification Of
China
The Tang Dynasty was a period characterized by thriving prosperity and flourishing
arts. Unlike previous periods fluxing between unity and disunion, the Tang
established a reunification of China that lasted over three centuries and made China
renowned as the most advanced civilization in the world at that time. Many of its
achievements, including its unique art styles such as sancai art, provided inspiration
for proceeding dynasties thereafter. Founded in 618 A.D. by former Sui general, Li
Yuan, later known as Emperor Gaozu, the Tang dynasty
started with a six year
reunification battle for control. He established a state with a capital at Chang an that
retained most Sui practices such as the tribute system along with Civil Service
examinations with additional embellishments. The Civil Service Exam was a major
improvement from preceding dynasties since officials had to have a scholarly
knowledge of Confucianism to work in governance opposed to the previous
favoritism in electing positions. In addition, another powerful ruler, Empress Wu,
improved the period as she was the only woman to ever rule Chinaand did so in a
manner that ruthlessly established her capability to rule, establishing a precedent for
feminism to arise. Other notable achievements of this time include the construction of
the Grand Canal, inventions of gunpowder as well as printing on wooden blocks, and
most importantly territorial expansion. Along with territorial expansion came
economic benefits to
23. Fossil Evidence
The clues to support the theory of evolution are vital to understanding how we and
other organisms have evolved over millions of years. Clues such as embryology,
fossil evidence, DNA, homologous, and vestigial structures all give us valuable
information on the theory of evolution. Fossil evidence tells information such as how
our ancient ancestors looked like, how tall they were, and more. Vestigial structures
suggest that we used to have bones and muscles that have shrunk or even
disappeared over thousands of years. Fossil evidence gives modern scientists an idea
on how ancient animals and humans looked like. When fossils are found, scientists
assemble them to get a general picture. This indirect clue of evolutiondefinitely
24. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Grief
Our real power is not derived from our positions in life, Instead it is the expression
of that authenticity inside of us, our strength, integrity and grace externalised , we
don t realise that each of us has the power of the universe within us (Kubler Ross
Kessler, 2000 p.96).
The paradigms of thanatology have spanned many years with models of death and
dying undergoing many changes and attempts to comprehend coping with loss and
grief (Roos, 2012). Greenstreet (2004) maintains that grief is an inherent human
response that can be defined as an individual s personal reaction to loss, and can
encompass many dimensions including emotional, physical, behavioural, cognitive,
social and spiritual. In order to underpin such a concept as grief ... Show more content

As argued by Roos (2012) there is an assumption by this model that there is an end
point to the grieving process and that some resolution of grief is necessary, however
this may not be the case for some individuals who may experience grief and revisit
certain different stages throughout their lifetime. In my example above with
intellectual disability coping with a linear process of emotions is highly unlikely,
with some individuals almost being stuck in the moment not understanding the
process of death. As Wijne McEnhill (2008) states the grieving process for people
with intellectual disabilities takes extra time and can encounter major difficulties in
comprehending losing a loved

Lenin thought the idea of a revolution, and the planning of it was effortless and
simple to carry on. He believed the attack had to be made in three key places,
including Petrograd, Moscow and Baltic Fleet. He believed the Petrograd soldiers
were able to obtain the Winter Palace, the General Staff Building and other important

Notwithstanding, the BolshevikCentral Committee did not accept his ideas, leading to

27. Creation Theology Paper
Creation happened at the beginning of time. In cultures all around the world, there
can be found explanations of how people came to be and how the world they live
in was formed. Creation theology is a bit different. It explains how Christians
believe the God of the Bible formed the world and how that impacts them today. A
belief that most Christians hold that can be traced back to the Apostle s Creed is that
Godthe Father is maker of heaven and earth . This can be translated in different
ways however, and this paper will try and explain some of the different ways that
the Biblical account of Creation can be understood. Creation can also be linked to
other beliefs of the church, especially to Christ himself. The Biblical Creation of
the world will be recognized in this paper by being capitalized, creation will
reference the beginning of the world and nature will be used to describe what has
been created like the plants, animals, and humans. In this paper, I will explain the
different parts of Creation theologyand connect Creation to other parts of Christology.
Creation Theology The story of how the world was created has been told in
different ways since the beginning of time. Nature clearly points out to humans that
there is a God (Williams, 2007). This can be called natural theology which uses
nature to prove that there is a God (McGrath, 2008). The world is very complex with
many different parts of it interwoven and dependent on each other. It is very difficult

28. Greek And Modern Theatre In Oedipus Rex By Sophocles
For this play report, I read Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. The thing I most took away
from this show was the differences and similarities in theatre between when it was
written, circa 441 b.c.e, and now. Ancient Greek theatre is obviously very different
from the theatre we perform today in many respects. Particularly, there were many
performance elements that were very different and deemed unacceptable, such as
female actors, within ancient Greek theatre; I would be fascinated to see how modern
day adaptations went with the production. Additionally, the use of the chorus
shows a need for less nuance than the theatre we use today, with a lot more explicit
exposition; this is something that is used mainly as a joke or a parody in modern
theatre. Finally, the plot itself is so crazy, yet there are a lot of parallels between it
and popular books, theatre and other media today. Ultimately, this play was a really
interesting look back in time as to what theatre was like thousands of years ago, and
finding similarities and differences between now and then was a really enriching
experience.
There were a lot of differences between ancient Greek and modern theatre. For
instance, with some basic knowledge of ancient Greek plays, I knew going into
reading this that there were no female actors performing plays like Oedipus back
when it was first written and performed. Yet, contrary to what I would have thought,
writers still wrote in many female characters such as Jocasta, Oedipus s
29. The Seven Steps Of A Healthy Organization
At the beginning of doing my research I was not sure what Organizational culture
was. In fact, I thought it some kind of innocuous entity with no real meaning at all,
but I now know that it is so much more than that. Organizational culture is a
companies back bone that determines the type of organization that it will be and
what it values above all else. It also determines if it will have a healthy organizational
cultureor not and with it a great company can be constructed or demolished. The
seven steps of a healthy or unhealthy organizational culture can be found in any
company whether it be in public or private sectors. The difference and important part
is how a company implements these stages, in using these seven stages with
deliberate purpose and putting in the effort necessary an organization can keep a
healthy culture within it. Nevertheless, if an organization just leaves its culture and
let it become what it may then anything can happen but without constant care and
forethought it is likely not to work out for the best. In both healthy and unhealthy
culture there are seven key factors that make them distinguishable to the outside or
inside observer. The first is innovation and risk a company that encourages its
employees to take risks and think of new innovative ways to do things is well on its
way to having a healthy organizational culture. Although risk taking in a company is
encouraged if a company pushes its employees to take unnecessary risks this can

31. The Effect Of Temperature, Ph, Specificity And Cofactors...
The effects of temperature, pH, specificity and cofactors of enzyme activity were
tested. An enzyme is an organic catalyst that speeds up metabolic reactions by
lowering the activation energy in cells. Activation energy is the minimum amount of
energy needed for the chemical reaction to occur and can be affected by altering the
enzymes environment as shown during the experiments. When the enzyme is not at
the optimal temperature or pH, then the enzyme may become denatured, inactive and
lose its normal shape. The enzyme used was Lactase, which binds to the substrate
lactose. A substrate is the reactant in the enzymatic reaction and binds to the contact
region on the enzyme called the active site. Enzymes have three dimensional shapes...

It was hypothesized, that if the lactase was extracted from a human cell, the
enzyme would have an optimal pH of 6.99, and if lactase was extracted from a
bacterial cell, the enzyme would have an optimal pH of 2. These hypothesized
optimal pH levels are based off the pH levels of the environment from which the
enzymes are most efficient in producing glucose. The optimal pH level is
determined by using 7 different pH buffers with a lactase and lactose mixture and
testing each solutions glucose production. The hypothesis is supported because the
enzymes have an optimal pH that is equal to the environment in which they produce
the highest levels of glucose. In the third experiment, the enzyme specificity was
tested for maltose and lactose. The prediction was that lactase would have a greater
ability to interact with lactose compared to maltose, because lactase is the enzyme
specific for the substrate lactose. This is tested by placing lactase in a maltose
solution and a lactose solution, and then checking their glucose production results.
The hypothesis is supported because the active site of an enzyme has specificity and
binds to its specific substrate better than any other substrate. The fourth experiment
tested if metal ions have any role in the activity of lactase by testing if EDTA will
affect lactase when placed in lactase mediated reaction. If the EDTA is added into the
solution of lactose, then it will hinder lactoses enzymatic
32. Multiple Sclerosis Essay
Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system. It most commonly
occurs in individuals between the ages of twenty and forty (1) and in higher
numbers of women than men (2). In Multiple Sclerosis (or MS ) a loss of the nerves
axon coating myelin prohibits the nerve axons from efficiently conducting action and
synaptic potentials. Scar tissue (called plaques or lesions) forms at the points where
demyelination occurs in the brain and spinal cord, hence the name Multiple Sclerosis
or many scars (3). The demyelination found in MS is thought to be caused by an
autoimmune process, in which the body s immune system attacks its own healthy
tissue (4). Other diseases thought to have an autoimmune basis are ... Show more

All of the activated T cells then release cytokines and adhesion molecules that
enable the T cells to adhere to and cross over the blood brain barrier, which
normally prohibits the flow of substances into the brain (8,9). The proteins in these
T cells bind to myelin fragments on microglial cells and undergo a secondary
activation (10), after which they multiply and release more cytokines, further
invading the nervous system (11) and inflaming and damaging the blood brain
barrier. The greatly weakened barrier becomes easily permeable, allowing
additional immune system cells, such as B cells and cytotoxic T cells to cross over
(12). Once through the barrier, B cells produce antibodies which bind to the
oligodendracytes (the cells of the CNS which create myelin) and the myelin itself.
Associated macrophages procede to destroy the myelin and may also damage the
oligodendracytes (13).
Myelin, found only in vertebrate nervous systems, is a fatty substance that surrounds
the axons and long dendrites of nerves in the brain and spinal cord tissue (4). By
lowering the rate at which the axonal membrane absorbs nerve impulses, myelin acts
as an insulator, allowing NS potentials to travel rapidly through the nervous system
and maintain communication between the brain and the rest of the body (2). This
communication between the brain and the rest of the CNS and peripheral nerves is a

These single burials were in the form of round barrows. The Beaker people were
well organized, active, and powerful, and also probably more territorial (Hawkins,
36). They practiced commerce with other cultures, and their graves give an
impression of there being an aristocracy in the society (Niel, 84).
The last major group to put time into the construction of Stonehenge was the
Wessex culture group. They arrived on Salisbury plain around 1400 BC, and were
involved in building the most prominent part of Stonehenge the great stone circles
(Niel, 86). These people were well organized, and probably less aggressive than
their predecessors, while more industrious. The people of Wessex were less
concerned with war than they were with art, peace, and trade. In the graves of their
chieftains (the only members of society who were preserved for afterlife), were goods
such as daggers, bows, and various other ornaments. Their access to such treasures
can perhaps be attributed to their great international traders who probably traded with
people from the Mediterranean Sea area (Hawkins, 37). They built the final phase of
Stonehenge, and perhaps brought about many cultural changes to the monument such
as giving the monument visual magnificence and more astronomical precision
(Service + Bradbery, 255).
It is necessary, in order to understand the complexity involved in the assembling of
Stonehenge, to know the process by which

An example of maturation would be acquiring a language, because language
acquisition is something that happens to an individual innately during a certain time
in development, it is not something an individual can do or learn. Environmental
learning refers to developmental change that is brought about mainly by influences in
the external environment and that can be described by mechanisms of learning. An
example of environmental learning would be a child who see s their older sibling get
into trouble for having dessert before completing dinner, will first finish their dinner
and then eat their dessert. Constructivism can be defined as the belief that the mind
actively participates in gathering knowledge of the world while interacting with the
environment, rather than passively gaining such knowledge through direct
perception. Constructivism states that children act as active participants in their own
development and help establish their own fate by virtue of the meanings they impose

the measure of all things; of those that are, that they are, of those that are not, that
they are not. His statement claims that all truths are relative to the individual who
hold them and that there is no absolute truth. Judgements and truths change from one
person to another as the environment, the norms, and the culture change. According
to Protagoras, even moralityis relative and the truth of moral judgments is limited to
the context in which they are affirmed. In other words, moral relativismis the view

However, it is true that sometimes we can mistake about what is right or wrong as
we are human and mistake is human. I think that most of us had encountered times
when we did what we thought was right and later realized that we did was wrong.
That is the reason why we should agree on what is bad or good after a deep
reflexion. As a result, we all need some moral judgements that we all should
respect if we are in the wrong path. This should be a common foundations of
absolutes and truths that will represent universal principles for all humanity and
can be set up and determined by the majority. Because we are different and have
different way of thinking, we should rely on free speech and democracy as they
are key to our being closest to an accurate perception of what is moral and what is
not. Democracy enables us to have all sides of an issue and it is a key in giving us
the power to act in a moral way. Furthermore, in a democracy system, it is the
majority who rules for the interest of the majority. It is true that the majority might
be wrong, but it is more likely that an individual will be wrong. Moreover, it is more
likely that the majority will be more concerned with their welfare than an individual

Unlimited data plans undoubtedly encourage increased data usage and most likely
challenge network capacity, requiring higher investments by operators to avoid
network congestion. The introduction of data use pricing model will regulate this
issue, and reduce network enhancements to match increasing data usage, therefore
reducing network expenses for KableCom. The currentunlimited data plan however
convenient, for the customers, has a downside to KableCom. The increased use has
been brought about by customers watching music and movies, playing online games,
participating in video phone calls and otherwise performing activities using media

of bandwidth available for customers, resulting in outages and delays.
Therefore, necessary for KableCom to implement data caps and migrate from
unlimited data plans to data use pricing model, however, many plans shall still have

In the documentary Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore, talks about the
root cause of gun violence in the United States of America. The documentary
shows how more than 11, 127 people die every year from guns whereas 381 in
Germany, 255 in France, 165 in Canada, 68 in the United Kingdom, 65 in
Australia, and 39 in Japan. Many say that violent movies, video games, and violent
rock artists such as Marilyn Manson contribute to gun violence in America but
violent movies are seen in France, violent video games are from Japan, and
Marilyn Manson is heard in Germany. Also, guns in America are easy to obtain as
in the documentary Moore got a free gun as he signed up for an account and only
required to get a background check. However, fear is the root cause of America
gun violence as people fear getting killed it leads to others getting killed. For
example, in the documentary Moore shows that the media promotes fear in the
American news program as they only focus on negative news such as violence and
death such as in the news they state, Tonight in South Central, a drive by shooting .
It makes people fear certain places such as going to South Central as they portray it
to be a dangerous place to go to as the news shows all the negative things that
happen there such as crimes which make people fear to go there. Where in Canada
news are positive and focus on what is going around town. They are not talking
about what can kill you or get you sick which is why they don t live in fear as they
even leave their house unlocked and don t have loaded arms. Moore goes further
on to ask a news reporter if he would go to a gun shooting before he went to a child
near drowning and the reporter would rather go to a gun shooting. It is seen that
people are more afraid of each other in America than in other countries. Americans
are fearful of their own fellow Americans as Moore s illustrates a cartoon that
portrays American history, of fearing each other as it shows when the pilgrims first
arrived to America because they were scared but when they arrived they were greeted
by savages so they killed them because they got scared and then they began to fear
each other then they signed the 2nd amendment which stated that every white
44. How Did The Mongols Have Centralized Government
In the era of third wave civilizations, there were major states that had centralized
governments and those without. The Aztec Empire, most were Mexica people, had a
centralized government. The extent of empire and rapid population growth
stimulated the development of markets and the production of craft goods (582) The
Mexica people began to trade in the Americas and It was important for their
government to put out what was okay to trade to have relations with other states.
There government produced markets and craft goods to trade with their
surroundings. Therefore, The Mexica people had good relationships with other states
in terms of their works in trade due to their centralized government. The Mongols are
known as the ones who killed many people. Well, the Mongols did have a centralized
government. In 1209, the first major attack on the settled agricultural societies south
of Mongoliaset in motion half a century of a Mongol world war, a series of military
campaigns, massive killing and empire building. (524) At this time, the Mongols
were under the rule of the Khanate, Chinggis Khan. Chinggis Khan claimed that the
Sky God gave him orders to conquer others. Therefore, the Mongols were under the
rule of conquering other empires such as the Persian Empire and the Abbasid
Caliphate in order to please the Sky God. This meant that their empire expanded to
almost all of Asia. It is obvious that their relationship with other states were terrible,
as they sacked states that
45. The Importance Of The Film Incentive Program
On Friday July 10, 2017, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that
effectively discontinued the film incentive program in Michigan. While the state will
keep the Michigan Film Office for the time being, this is a major hit to a budding
film industry. Since 2007, the incentive program helped to attract the production of
Hollywood films to Michigan. Notable films produced while the program was intact
include Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Transformers franchise. In a
news release concerning the new legislation, Governor Snyder noted that the while
the program will no be active, Michigan still has much to offer to the filmindustry.
The states film office will continue to assist those looking to film in the state.... Show

He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25
million. Some view the discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for
creativity in Michigan. There are many beneficial reasons for incentive based
programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may view them as some
useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs
support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on
a credit based system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of
supporting local film makes, in response to Michigan eliminating its incentive
program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One filmmaker stated they don t care
about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as artists, as people
who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was
right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community.
One of the states key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this
does not happen. Much like any state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired
location on the national scale. The entertainment industry, is one of the key ways to
do so. In the reading The Great Convention Center Bailout, this is exampled. The
author states It s no surprise then that cities compete so fiercely for business. The
nation s largest convention centers in

Introduction:
Today in our society human trafficking is a definitely a growing crime that more than
often goes unrecognized. Men, women and children are being stolen and traded for
sex everyday against their will. Mistakenly people tend to think that human trafficking
is a third world issue but it s not, it s bigger than that it s a worldwide phenomenon.
Although it s a world wide issued I will be focusing deeper on effects of human
trafficking in India, China and the United States; by analyzing the problem of
trafficking in these countries through the lens of the following international relation
theories liberalism, realism and social constructivism. A lot of people seem to think
slavery is something that happened hundreds of years ago and doesn t exist today.
My reason for choosing this topic is because a lot of individuals are unaware of
human trafficking and the reason is because of lack of information provided by the
public and ignorance. It s really an unfortunate situation and I believe the best thing
we can do is help raise awareness of the issue.
Human trafficking is a criminal activity; humans are being treated as a possession. It
is a terrible crime that affects every country of the world. It includes forced labor and
sexual exploitation. Human trafficking is modern day slavery it generates billions of

48. The New Black
The speech I attended was a panel of women who had all previously been to prison.
This panel was particularly interesting because these women were the inspiration
for the television series Orange is the New Black. The Netflix original series is based
on Piper Kerman s book of the same name. The book was based on her experience in
the womens prisonDanbury, which is located in Connecticut. Piper wrote about her
personal story and the stories of many of the women she interacted with. Several
of these very women came to Suffolk University to give a talk on their own
personal experience in the prison system and their thoughts on the television series.
There were four women who spoke to us, two of whom were in prison with Piper,
one who attended the same prison at a different time, and one women who was a
professor at Suffolk University and had never been to prison. Each womanspoke
about her own personal experience with the prison system and they all spoke about
the issues surrounding the United States legal system. They also all spoke about the
problems with America s glorification of the prison system, especially in recent years.
The entire speech was very clearly targeted to college students, as each woman spent
time addressing us personally as the next generation who can do something about the
faulty legal system. The entirety of the speech extremely informative and motivated,
while also being interesting a sometimes funny. This speech was interesting in the
fact that

ABSTRACT
The main theological function of the plague narratives in Exodus is to bring about
recognition of God to the Egyptians and the Israelites. The author of Exodus has

Therefore, the plague narrative also serves a function of demonstrating who Yahweh
is to His own people. Israel must also know Yahweh as we see in Exodus 10:2.
Throughout the narrative, we see many allusions to the Egyptian gods and the
impotence of these gods before God of Israel.9 There are multiple gods in the
Egyptian temple. As an example, in the first plague, the Nile River was turned into
blood. The river was an important source of fertility to the land of Egypt. Thus, it
was dedicated to many gods (Osiris, Hapi, Sepek etc.) of the Egyptians.10 By
turning the river into blood, it eloquently reveals the power of Yahweh and the
inferiority of Egyptian gods. For the Egyptians who looked to various gods
associated with the Nile, this event would have produced many questions for their
faith. Even the magicians had to acknowledge in the third plague that it is the finger
of God as they could not replicate it (Exod. 8:19). As for the Israelites, the plague
narrative is a reminder of the mighty and awesome power of God who had chosen
them and kept His promise. A reminder that would help to strengthen their faith in
Him.
Each plague brings deeper knowledge and understanding of Yahweh. They are not
simply acts of judgment, but something that God uses to reveal Himself. Because
they are more than just punishments, they fail to actually secure Israel s release each
time. As signs , they are used to

Mabel Dodge Speech Good Evening my fellow neighbors. Most of you know me
and for the ones who do not, I am Mabel Dodge. I am the daughter from a family in
Buffalo and had what was considered the best education for girls in the nineteenth
century. Instead of going to college, I got married, became a mother and soon, a
widow. Later, I traveled abroad and soon married a Boston architect, Edwin Dodge
who I later realized the passion I had was no more so I divorced him. I became
bored and began to crave art, the beauty and inspiration! A salon in Florence, Italy
that I created for the purpose of attracting the most up and coming artists in Europe,
had me become well known and even a muse for one of Gertrude Stein s image
poems. I reluctantly joined Edwin my husband at the time, who was eager to come
back to the United States. I settled in an apartment on the lower Fifth Avenue which
most of you have been in for my evenings of controversial debates. What will women
do with their new freedom? Not turn evil as many of you would think. Women could
create lives for themselves, become economically independent and independent
throughout. There are opportunities for women outside of the home. There is a
whole other life outside the house. Yes, some women will have to learn to govern
themselves but that is only because they were never given the chance to in their lives
before. I quote Walter Lippmann in, A Note On
51. Save Muslim Women
Why the Western Society Feels Compelled to Save Muslim Women from their
Cultures The notion that constructs Muslim women are in need of saving, comes
from the importance of moral and ethic grounds that reflect high human rights. It
gives a label to specific kinds of oppression against these women that causes people
to feel morally compelled to rescue them from their culture. The term saving
expresses that of one in need of rescue. Ideally, the women do not feel oppressed to
their cultures. The terrible problems going on in Afghanistan, such as poverty and
militarism issues are why these women are deeply affected. The idea of these issues
is discussed further, Women need to have a universal right to freedom from structural
violence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this remains to be true, our desires for these women could mistakenly be
much different from their desires for themselves; different cultures have different
yearnings about justice. LILA ABU LUGHOD articulates this idea in her
fieldwork, she found that these women do not envy the women that make up the
Western societies, they will never cry for themselves, for they are down under
yoke of centuries of oppression (Van Sommer Zwener 1907:15/2002:789). Their
true envy is the oppression they have suffered in terms of the militarism and
poverty their country suffers. In relevance to this issue, after the liberation of the
Talibans, the Muslim women did not remove their forced identities as people. The
fact that their Burqa was not removed resembles that they are a product of their
own environment, they are proud to symbolize who they are in terms of the
symbolic separation of men and women. To sum up, Muslim women are not in need
of saving, this implies that they are in need of rescue compared to Western societies.
Their conditions to which they live are the things that are in need of aid. Based on
their state of poverty, and militarism are the oppressions that need to be assisted. The
cultural traits and identities of Muslim women symbolize who they are as people.
Muslim women need to have liberty from anatomical coercion based on global
discrimination and consequences of
52. Articles Of Confederation Flaws
The Articles of Confederation were a failure due to how weak they were. The
United States had just fought their way out of tyranny, and because of that they
gave all the power to the states, as to ensure no abuses of power, which ultimately
didn t give the government means to rule efficiently. For example, Congress could
not tax, so inflation was caused by their overprinting. There was no national army,
so when tensions arose, congress had to beg for troops, making the U.S. weak and
vulnerable. Also, congress did not have the power to control commerce, so states
made their own monet, which could not be used state to state. Furthermore, there
was no head figure to enforce any of the rules of the Articles, which only hastened
the falling apart of the articles because there was no one person to enforce laws.
Shay s rebellion was the final straw that led to the Constitutional Convention. In the
construction of the constitution they were very careful not to repeat their mistakes.
For example, they gave congress power to tax, draft, control money, as well as the
the other issues where congress lacked necessary power. The... Show more content on

Virginia plan placed a lot of power in the legislative branch, and had a system very
similar to the one we use today. The branch is split up into two houses, the House
of Representatives, as well as the Senate. The number of officials in these
institutions would be based solely on population, or their contribution to the
federation. They would be voted on by the people, for the House of Reps, and the
Senate would then be chosen by government officials. This was a very scary plan
to the smaller states, who much rather favored the New Jersey plan. This option
outlined a very equal playing field for all states. There is a one house legislature
system, with equal representation across the board. All decisions were made based
on the state s
53. Spanish Influence On South American Culture
When the Spanish settlers first stepped foot in Southern America, they saw a vacant
and natural landscape intended for the gradual spread of Christianity and European
culture. They also came face to face with the Mapuche peoples who established a
long lasting resistance against their European settlers. For example, in Chile, when
the Spanish attempted to establish a string of fortified towns southward, they met
with the resistance of the Mapuche people. They repeatedly annihilated the
settlements of the Spanish empire because they threatened the very existence of the
Mapuche colony. 1 Eventually, however, Spanish officials were forced into a treaty
that recognized the Mapuche societies. In these treaties, the Spanish crown insisted
on subordination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this movement came new interests in territorial expansion, changes in image,
and the shift of power dynamics that focused on Eurocentrializing the nation. In
order to fabric these new modernized nations, the elites of the nations realized they
needed to eliminate any internal obstacles that would halt the nation s progress
towards modernization. Therefore, it was necessary to eliminate the indigenous
populations in order to attract European immigration and capital. And this is the
framework that the South American nations used to justify the execution of the
indigenous people from collective memory. In Chile, some Araucanians fought for
the insurgents, but most who took up arms and they fought along side of the
Spanish to keep their livelihood. 275 However such a resistance only enforced the
use of violent tactics on the Mapuche communities. And such violent tactics were
justified by the belief that the Mapuche people were doom to disappear: naturally
or by force. However, As a result, the elites argued that theses massacres were also
naturally occurring processes. It was natural because the indigenous groups, such
as the Mapuche were incapable to adapt to civilized life and progress so they were
doomed to disappear. This type of ideology would lead to dire consequences for the
Mapuche tribes, as even today, these people not only fight against the repression

advantages can be listed: a) compensates for poor cellular coverage inside the
homes or small enterprise. b) Provides plug and play feature thus providing the
user with ease of installation and usage. c) Compact structure, that is the
Femtocell is actually the UTRAN in a box and offers all services through existing
broadband internet connection. d) Voice and data calls takes place through the
secure IP Sec Tunnel thus offering good quality of encryption and helps in
securing the data. e) Helps in offloading the macro traffic and cell phones
automatically switch over to the Femtocell coverage when in range. f) Femtocells
are compatible with all 3GPP handheld devices and help improve the data speed and
coverage in the areas where there are slow speeds and poor coverage. g) Femtocells
can not only work efficiently with the existing network infrastructure by extending
the cellular macro network but also can serve as primary network if sufficient number
of Femtocells are provided in the region thus reducing the number of macrocells
reducing equipment cost and complexity

Biography of Ernest Hemingway
Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted
armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter.
You will meet them doing various things with resolve, but their interest rarely holds
because after the other thing ordinary life is as flat as the taste of wine when the
taste buds have been burned off your tongue. ( On the Blue Waterin Esquire, April
1936)
A legendary novelist, short story writer and essayist Ernest Miller Hemingway was
born on July 21, 1899, in the village of Oak Park, Illinois, close to the prairies and
woods west of Chicago. His mother Grace Hall had an operatic career before
marrying Dr. Clarence Edmonds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Hemingway s depression he was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota. There he received electroshock therapy that impaired his memory and
stripped from him the concentration to write. Hemingway also lost the ability to do
other things he so loved like fish and hunt. So perhaps he killed himself because
Ernest Hemingway could no longer be Ernest Hemingway.
2. Hemingway s works
Ernest Hemingway started his career as a writer in a newspaper office in Kansas
City at the age of seventeen. Here he learned to get to the heart of a story with
direct, simple sentences. After the United States entered the First World War, he
joined a volunteer ambulance unit in the Italian army. Here he was wounded near
the Italian/Austrian front. Hospitalized, he fell in love with his nurse, who later
called off their relationship. After his return to the United States, he became a
reporter for Canadian and American newspapers and was soon sent back to Europe
to cover such events as the Greek Revolution. During the twenties, Hemingway
became a member of the group of expatriate Americans in Paris, which he described
in his first important work The Sun Also Rises (1926). After the World War I,
Hemingway lived in Chicago. There, he met Sherwood Andersen and married Hadley
Richardson in 1921. On Andersen s advice, the
